Greek Immigration To Australia Case Study
Greece, a country full of loving, loud and funny people has greatly impacted on Australia s
immigration identity with almost 47% of greeks in Australia (recorded in 2014).
In the 1920 s a strict system limited the number of non British immigrants to Australia, Greeks
included between 1925 and 1929. This meant only 100 Greeks were allowed to immigrate each
month.
Gold rush immigration:
The first significant Greek migration to Australia began in the 1850s during the gold rush. The
government of Australian migration schemes targeted Greek and Italians in the 1950s and 1960s.
More Greek settlers came to Australia came with the gold rushes in the 1850s.

1830 1930 most came by boat. 1930 onwards most came by plane because around 7% were killed on a
boat and hardly any got killed in a plane.
Why did they come?
The Greeks were coming to Australia for a lot of reasons.
They attracted immigration from countries with a younger workforce, inability to find jobs in their
home country combined with Greece s need for cheap labor (especially in small scale family
businesses). Another primary factor in this large scale rise in immigration is also the narrowing of the
gap in terms of living standards between northern Europe and southern Europe, therefore, leaving
Greece with very little to no living standards, expect the debris and wreckage of the war.
What hardships did they face?
The Greeks had some struggles like; finding jobs in Australia and finding a place to stay. Another
hardship for the Greeks is that they had to learn English, therefore, creating a language barrier.
How did they contribute?
Greece brings many cultural riches to Australia like the wine industry, different types of cheeses and
olives. Bringing the wine industry bring many high quality employees, therefore, improving Australia
s standard of wine. Many Australians embrace in a positive sense and enjoy the Greek culture by
trying eating the contribution of Greek

Child Diagnosis
Child Diagnosis The author of this paper is asked to diagnose a child s condition based on a series of
symptoms. The author is also asked to provide treatment options and an overall treatment plan for the
disordered diagnosed. The child in question is almost certainly autistic based on the totality of
symptoms that exist and the author of this paper will justify this diagnosis and what should be done in
response to the disorder being present. Diagnosis There are a number of tell tale signs that point to this
child having autism. First, Asperger s should be disqualified because children with Asperger s are
generally blabby and will not shut up and that is not an issue that this child has. That being said,
Asperger s patients generally dislike any break in routine or structure that the child is accustomed to
and this is definitely true of the patient in this case but Asperger s is simply a milder form of autism
and it is clear that this child s case is much more advanced (WebMD, 2012). Two facet of this child s
behavior that screams autism is the habit of being in his own world and hating it when anyone disrupts
it as well as lining up his blocks and other toys in very distinct rows and patterns and this is something
he does over and over again. This is a telltale sign of autism. His attachment to certain items is a huge
red flag as is his general lack of engagement with children around him in social situations. Granted, a
two year old will only have progressed so

Summary Of Three Sovereigns For Sarah
The movie Three Sovereigns for Sarah is about a terrified town that is struck by the devils witchcraft
and takes extraordinarily inhuman actions to rid themselves of the bad fortune. The story is told by an
old woman who was accused of being a witch, but luckily lives long enough to confront her accusers.
Three Sovereigns for Sarah has many contributing factors as to why witchcraft was believed and used
as a genuine reason to murder citizens of the thirteen colonies such factors that lead to these absurd
and ridiculous decisions and actions are likely to be based off the early sexist concepts of gender roles
that took place in the colonies, the strong pull to uniform religious beliefs, and a superstition that
terrified people into an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The religious beliefs of these days and ages were extremely strict, controlling, and very similar. The
priest in this movie was very influential, he was the sole reason for the belief in the witchcraft that
took over this town. Few males in charge made the decision to hang the Salem witches, but essentially
the priest made the overall decision. He fed stories to the other females and males about their
witchcraft and how the devils work had been done. It is believed that the priest did this so he could
control the land and money that was possessed by the women he wrongfully accused and murdered.
The early Colonists practiced Puritan religion. This religion consisted of believing that God had
formed an agreement with the Colonists. They claimed that they were higher than all others and God
made that known to them. They claimed that God wanted them to set a better example for all the
British people who were going to be damned to hell for all the sins and filth they had done. This
prompted the Colonists to live a very disciplined, unsatisfactory, and dull life.
A definite theory on why the Salem Witchcraft was so strongly believed involved how powerful
gender roles were. Although it is claimed in the Puritan ways that women were to be treated with
kindness and consideration, they were to be seen very little and never heard. Wives and

A Brief History of Library Automation
An automated library is one where a computer system is used to
manage one or several of the library s key functions such as
acquisitions, serials control, cataloging, circulation and the public
access catalog. When exploring the history of library automation, it
is possible to return to past centuries when visionaries well before
the computer age created devices to assist with their book lending
systems. Even as far back as 1588, the invention of the French Book
Wheel allowed scholars to rotate between books by stepping on a pedal
that turned a book table. Another interesting example was the Book
Indicator , developed by Albert Cotgreave in 1863. It housed miniature
books to represent books in the library s collection. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ARPANET, a network established by the Defense Advanced Research
Projects Agency in 1969 brought into existence the use of e mail,
telnet and ftp. By 1980, a sub net of ARPANET made MELVYL, the
University of Californiaís on line public access catalog, available on
a national level. ARPANET, would become the prototype for other
networks such as CSNET, BITNET, and EDUCOM. These networks have almost
disappeared with the evolution of ARPANET to NSFNET which has become
the present day Internet.
During the 1970 s the inventions of the integrated computer chip
and storage devices caused the use of minicomputers and microcomputers
to grow substantially. The use of commercial systems for searching
reference databases (such as DIALOG) began. BALLOTS (Bibliographical
Automation of Large Library Operations) in the late 1970 s was one of
the first and later became the foundation for RLIN (the Research
Libraries Information Network). BALLOTS was designed to integrate
closely with the technical processing functions of the library and
contained four main files: (1)MARC records from LOC; (2) an in process
file containing information on items in the processing stage; (3) a
catalog data file containing an on line record for each item; and (4)
a reference file. Further, it contained a wide search retrieval
capability with the ability to search on truncated words, keywords,

Global Pursuit Of International Commerce
3. Global Pursuit of International Commerce
Today, globalization is a generic term, economic globalization demands key developments in trade,
and these are finance and foreign direct reserves by multinational corporations. International trade has
grown exponentially and has become a much more prominent influence over domestic and global
economic businesses. Trade consumes a quarter of the total world income encompassing merchandise
trade, banking, and information. (Ferguson, 2014). Export vendors and consumers benefit from the
openness of the Internet yet organizations find themselves challenged with international businesses
that have improved their productivity where transnational policy differences poses significant barriers.
Global ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More and more businesses have expanded their exchanges into the world markets because of the
innovative technology advancements, assimilated financial systems, and openness of the Internet.
Despite the technological progression, the majority of trade takes place in primary, advanced
industrialized economies U.S., Japan, and Western Europe. (Ferguson, 2014). In spite of the restricted
nature of commercial globalization, transnational organizations play a significant role in the global
economy. These entities have become major determinants of trade, industry locality, and other
worldwide economic activities. Within the realm of the global economy, organizations must
understand the principal forces altering global economic and political matters.
A. International Commerce Antitrust and Competition Enforcement and Free Trade
The world of enforced trade competition or otherwise known as antitrust enforcement has now
assumed a new dominance within global commerce. Trade and competition policy have always been
viewed as influential between them. Essentially, both set forth balanced competition in the
marketplace that benefits customers but doesn t protect manufacturers. (Heather, 2014). Promoting
competition through antitrust or trade competition is no easy undertaking. The challenge is prominent

world war, has doubled its chocolate sale.
Weaknesses [72 words]
There are two weaknesses that appeared recently. The first one is a quarter of its stores have under
used space, by which means that it has reach its potential capacity and is not productive enough. The
second one is that apparently Sainsburys needs to regain its reputation again because it is suspected
that Sainsburys had led the Big 4 to a collusion; Consequently, lt will lose its customers trust and
therefore, their loyality.
Opportunities [60 words]
Two opportunities that are the most realistic to pursue are to develop a new non core sector and to do
intensive market research. Non core sectors that can be reinvested are pharmacies and clothing.
Furthermore, by doing more market research, there should be less risk of product failure and also by
doing so, they could understand what the customers need and want.
Threats [106 words]
Refering to Porter s Five Forces, two major threats have been identified: rivalry among existing
competitors (Big 4) and threats of new entrants (Aldi and Lidl). One reason why competition among
Big 4 is very intense is because supermarket industry can be catagorized as Olygopoly, which means
interdepence is a critical point; An action made by one supermarket will affect all competitors. As a

Analysis Of Loung Ung s First They Killed My Father
Loung Ung s First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers follows her struggles
as a child during the Angkar rule. Children in Cambodia directly suffered from trauma, which
obviously dismisses the myth that children experience less pain than adults. The importance of Ung s
book is the emotional impact she has on the reader because she gives a voice to the victims and to the
dead. As Americans, this topic, the Cambodian genocide does not get taught commonly in education.
It shows the trauma that the citizens went through and how it affected the country.
The organization of the story follows Loung Ung s life from the day they left their home to the day
she left for America. Since, this story is from a child s point of view there is less of a political
importance and more emotional based. Each chapter contributes to Loung Ung s main point because
as the story develops so does the affect on Ung. Each chapter Loung becomes more aware with her
surroundings and forced to grow up quick.
The Khmer Rouge wanted to get rid of social classes and make everyone equal and to do so Loung
Ung s father states, The Khmer Rouge are executing people perceived to be a threat against the
Angkar. This new country has no law or order. City people are killed for no reason. Anyone can be
viewed as a threat to the Angkar former civil servants, monks, doctors, nurses, artists, teachers,

Gustav Klimt and Claude Monet both famous artist whom are born in different country which has
different type of culture that influence the artist styles of painting or creating an artwork. Both are very
different from each others artwork and both also have their own unique way of expressing their
artwork. One thing they have in common is that both of them are involved in the making of modern
arts. Gustav Klimt was a very well known artist back in the 19th century, he was born on the 14th of
July in 1862 in Vienna,Austria. His father, Ernst Klimt was a gold engraver whereas his mother, Anna

Rutgers Education Research Paper
A Rutgers education will not only allow me to grow as a college student but as a person overall.
Graduating from Rutgers will hold a greater value in the outside world when I apply for jobs as this
university has many well known schools like the Business School or the School or Arts and Sciences.
Since Rutgers is well known for their programs, this would allow me to be able to excel in my major
of choice and be able to take different classes that would allow for my knowledge to grow more than it
would at Rowan University. The classes that Rutgers will offer compared to Rowan would challenge
me to work harder and push my limits in order for me to grow and succeed as a person. Having a

The Brahma Kumaris Meditation Center
The more you meditate, the more helpful you can be to others, and the more deeply you will be in tune
with God. This quote was said by Paramahansa Yogananda and is a wonderful quote that spoke to me
because I do have a close relationship to God and being helpful to other people is really important to
me. I attended the Brahma Kumaris meditation center to learn more about what meditation consists of
and expand my knowledge on why this is a big part in the Hindu religion. In class we I learned about
the different types of yoga that is practiced in Hinduism. Jhana yoga, Bhakti yoga, Karma yoga, and
Raja yoga are the different types of yoga practiced and I had some sort of understanding on what I
would possibly see in the meditation session. I did some research on what the Brahma Kumaris
meditation center was about and their main goal. In the Brahma Kumaris meditation center they focus
on specifically raja yoga and focusing on self reflection and positivity. My first session at the
meditation center was enlightening and very interesting because of the new things I learned and what
they focus on to help people overcome obstacles in their lives.
The main goal of raja yoga is to achieve control over the mind and emotions, to prevent negative
thoughts and focus on the positive aspects in your life and in general. My initial reaction once I was
inside the meditation center was that it was small and the atmosphere was comfortable. It felt like a

Role Of Hassall s In T Cell Development
Role of Hassall s corpuscles in T cell development
Abstract
After being first described by Arthur Hill Hassall about 170 years ago, Hassall s corpuscles raised
curiosity in the minds of many researchers. These fascinating structures are located in thymic medulla
and for a long time their exact function had been an unanswered question. Recent advancements in
research has shown that they play a role in the maturation and development of thymocytes in thymus.
They are known to express cytokines, chemokines and other proteins suggesting that they interact with
antigen presenting cells and are actively involved in the development of T cells. Many diseases related
to auto immunity were found to vary from the normal condition, in the context of morphology of these
structures, making it important to understand the nature and role of these bodies in the human thymus.
The review highlights some of the current findings related to the structure and function of Hassall s
corpuscles throwing more light upon their role in the development of T cells.
Introduction
The Thymus is a pinkish, lobulated organ that is located posterior to the sternum. The main function of
the thymus is to process lymphocytes. It is an organ that undergoes involution; around the time of
puberty it degenerates. Thymic involution is important as it is believed to be linked to
immunosenescence and its associated diseases. Much study has been done to understand the cause and
mechanism of thymic degeneration in the hope

Essay about Health Care Reform
Background Universal Health Care System
One of the most long standing health care systems was originated in Germany in 1889 by Otto von
Bismarck s social legislation. Its included bills were the Health Insurance Bill 1883, Old Age and
Disability Insurance Bill of 1889, and Accident Insurance Bill of 1883. The National Insurance Act of
1911 in Britain covered most people employed. It also financed dependents if families had contributed
for at least five years. This coverage lasted whether families worked or not. This Act was amended in
1948 with the National Health Service revised the act to secure only legal residents to benefit from
this plan. Many universal health care systems originated after the 2nd world war. During this period,

Even wealthy Americans encounter instances where they can t get in touch with a doctor without
seeing a nurse first.
Health care systems in Germany faced problems including a growing population, visitation of patients
and tourists who needed assistance, and an increase in the costs of providing medical care to the entire
population. Both Germany and the US systems have its setbacks. The US suffers from deficits in rich
and poor disparity, over testing patients, and preventable deaths of adults and infants.
German government established its system to distribute fairness to all by engulfing itself in the
socioeconomic system. This idea differs from American policy which uses the government to develop
systems of mass assistance (welfare, Medicare, etc) then state that the government shouldn t control it.
It has been demonstrated that his method is largely ineffective. The pricing and distribution of services
is largely unfair with little to no reward for effective services.
In March of 2010, Congress enacted and the President signed sweeping health reform legislation. The

increasing the number of people receiving health insurance both through the government as well as
through private insurance. In particular, much of the

Male Dingoes Essay
Dingoes reproduce once per year, depending on the estrus cycle of the female dingo. The estrus cycle
usually comes once a year, but can come twice although the female dingo can only become pregnant
once a year (with the second time only seeming to be pregnant).
Male dingoes in most regions are virile throughout the entire year, but usually have a lower sperm
production in the summer. During studies on dingoes from the Eastern Highlands and Central
Australia living in captivity, no breeding cycle was noticed. The breeding was only regulated by the
heat of the female dingoes. A rise in the testosterone was observed in the male dingoes during the
breeding season (1 March 30 June), but this was shown to be linked to the heat of the female dingoes
and copulation. In contrast to the captive dingoes, captured dingo male from Central Australia did
show a male breeding cycle. The captured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the mating season, dingoes actively defend their territory by using vocalisations, growling,
barking and dominance behaviour.
Most female dingoes living in the wild begin breeding at the age of two. Within their packs, the alpha
female goes into heat before the subordinate dingoes and suppresses mating attempts from the other
female dingoes. Male dingoes become sexually mature between the ages of one and three. The exact
beginning of breeding depends on age, seasonal conditions, geographic range and social status.
Among dingoes living in captivity, the pre estrus can last up to sixty days in the wild.
Generally, the only dingoes that can successfully breed in a pack are the alpha male and female, so the
other dingoes help to raise the dingo pups. The subordinates are actively prevented from breeding by
the alpha pair although some subordinate females have false pregnancies. If the pack structure breaks
up, low ranking or lone dingoes can successfully

Compare And Contrast The Raven And The Tell Tale Heart
Kyle Cantrell
Professor Toni
2 November 2017
Nevermore
Edgar Allan poe is one of the most incredible gothic writers, with a library of many famous works. He
is famous for his dark and ominous way of narrating, as well as his brutal and obscure endings to his
tales. Arguably his most famous works are the poem entitled The Raven published January 29th 1845,
and his short story The Tell Tale Heart published a few years earlier on January 1843. Both of these
pieces of literature pulled the listener directly into Poe s mysterious world, with suspense and intensity
in every line. The Raven and The Tale Heart written by Edgar Allan Poe both develop the gothic
theme of madness by using dark imagery, similar symbolism, and torment.
The Raven follows a man who is tormented by a large raven on top of his chamber door. He recently
lost his lover Lenore, and he believes that this Raven is in his chamber is taunting him, and making
light of his lost love. As the story progresses the narrator starts to drift further and further from sanity
until he can no longer understand the events that are taking place. The Tell Tale Heart the main
character is also driven to madness, but in this case it is by a mysterious eye, to the point where he
must commit murder in order to feel at peace. However this is not the end of this tale. The police
arrive at his house to question him, and just as he was almost in the clear the beating of a heart causes
him to expose the hiding place of the

Theme Of Sacrifice In King Lear
The nobility of a sacrifice lies in how it demonstrates where a person s priorities are held and how it
contrasts ignoble deeds otherwise. In King Lear, Lear s youngest daughter Cordelia, by not accepting
to play the game of love test, willingly sacrifices her dignity and honor as a king s daughter,
surrenders her freedom for banishment and forfeits her possible inheritances and legacies from the
retiring father. Out of her own choice, such willingness of self abnegation shines a light on Cordelia s
virtue, love and devotion, if not loyalty, which are a moral compass that points to justice.
Cordelia self abnegates for two causes, the first being her virtue, the second being her love for an
ignorant father.
Cordelia s sacrifice begins with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Out of familial love, Cordelia shines the play in the sense that she continues to exhibits her virtue even
she is cast down and even she is discredited by her father. Moving to the reunion, where Cordelia
stays with her father to redress Lear s faults and know better of himself, Cordelia s noble character
culminates in apt personification of kindness and virtue that persist even the most difficult and abject
of times. Moving to the end of the play, where Cordelia is murdered in its most dehumanizing sense,
Cordelia finally becomes a sacrifice to the heartlessness of a skewed, unjust world.
Suffice to say, Cordelia s redoubtable virtue powerfully addresses the theme of folly and injustice in
the work: Filial piety prevails despite a father s folly, and goodness persists despite schemers
wickedness. However noble Cordelia is, King Lear is a tragedy in the sense that goodness and evils
are perpetually dueling. It is difficult to judge which triumphs in the end; justice is in the balance.
Such regrets are alarming, because a sacrifice is not enough to save humanity and the world from
hostility and

The Philosophy Of Epicurus, Epictetus, And Aquinas
Through the works of Epicurus, Epictetus, and Aquinas, it is evident that their philosophies inherit a
great deal of virtue. Although roughly specified, virtue is implanted within their different ideologies.
From achieving happiness, stoic beliefs, and in respects to Christian idealism, virtue turns out to be the
driving factor in determining the ideal meaning of life from the perspective of each philosopher and it
gives them their value. Backed by firm evidence, it is notable that virtue is more apparent in the
Thomism philosophy.
The philosophy of Epicurus sought virtue as a condition of serenity in the soul. According to his
thought, Epicureanism is centered in the achievement of happiness through the elimination of one s
desires, and on pleasure and virtue claiming that It is impossible to live pleasantly without living
wisely and honorably and justly (Epicurus, Doctrines, 1). This signifies that pleasure and virtue are
interdependent and both sustain the concept of this ideology. To achieve happiness, one must do its
best to live as virtuously as possible if they are to live a pleasant life. Pleasure is declared as the
beginning and end of the happy life and by nature the greatest good (Epicurus, Doctrines, 13). This is
so because living a life of pleasure means pain is absent and therefore makes life meaningful. Reason
and virtue play an important role in the Epicurean notion of pleasure, leading the wise man to choose a
simple life and rational action above

A Brief Introduction to Methods of Word Formation in English
A Brief Introduction to Methods of Word Formation in English
I. Introduction Linguistics is the scientific study of human language. Linguistics can be broadly
broken into three categories or subfields of study: language form, language meaning, and language in
context. The earliest known activities in descriptive linguistics have been attributed to Panini around
500 BCE, with his analysis of Sanskrit in Ashtadhyayi. The first subfield of linguistics is the study of
language structure, or grammar. This focuses on the system of ruled followed by the users of a
language. It includes the study of morphology (the formation and composition of words), syntax (the
formation and composition of phrases and sentences from these words), and ... Show more content on

There are many other examples of back formation in the English language.
3. Acronym An acronym is an abbreviation formed from the initial components in a phrase or a word.
These components may be individual letters (as in CEO) or parts of words (as in Benelux and
Ameslan). There is no universal agreement on the precise definition of various names for such
abbreviations nor on written usage. In English and most other languages, such abbreviations
historically had limited use, but they became much more common in the 20th century. Acronyms are a
type of word formation process, and they are viewed as a subtype of blending. There are many
different types of the word formation process acronym. Here are several pairs of them.
(1) Pronounced as a word, containing only initial letters, like the followings.

NATO: North Atlantic Treaty Organization
Scuba: self contained underwater breathing apparatus
Laser: Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation
(2) Pronounced as a word, containing non initial letters

Government Intervention and Internet Regulation
Government Intervention and Internet Regulation Internet is a global network that connects millions
of computers together and allows people to communicate and share information with each other in an
effective and easy way. It has become the most widely used means of communications of recent times.
The number of U.S. homes with one or more personal computers increased by 16% (in 1995) to about
38 million households, up from 33 million in 1994 and 25 million in 1993 (Fox 9). Along with that
staggering stat, the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science has reported that 95%
of the public has access to the Internet ( Free Essay ). Internet is filled with a lot of information on

So in such circumstances, we must have some procedures for tackling illegal content on the Internet
and some mechanisms for allowing end user control of what is accessed on the Internet (Darlington).
It is argued that the genesis of the Internet was such that it embraced and fostered a new spirit of
freedom, openness and experimentation and that these values must remain an integral feature of the
Internet and if any form of regulation is introduced then the whole essence of the internet will be lost
and people would not be able to access the vast resources of information that it has to offer
(Darlington). The opponents of regulation also argue that any form of internet regulation is against the
individual s rights to freedom of expression and the concept of net neutrality because in such a
scenario a person may not be able to choose the content he wants to view. However, it should be
clearly understood that society is greater than a single person and if such rights of freedom cause harm
to the values of the society as a whole, then it is perhaps the responsibility of the government to
intervene and restrict the rights given to every individual in order to maintain those values.
There is offensive content on the internet , so this justifies the use of internet restrictions (Darlington).
Internet is filled with explicit content. There are thousands of websites that contain pornographic
materials which is considered inappropriate for

Essay Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie
Storytelling can be found in every corner of the world. It is used to pass the time, tell of past or current
events, and is the way that we communicate with each other. In Balzac and the little Chinese
Seamstress, by Dai Sijie, storytelling occurs during times of hopelessness when life seems hard and
allows the characters to live vicariously through the tales told. The narrator and Luo use storytelling as
an escape from reality in times of desperation. The tailor is influenced by the stories to the point where
he changes the style of clothing he creates to escape the boundaries of Mao approved clothing. The
importance of storytelling to the little seamstress is that she learns the importance of beauty, and is

The narrator says, ¡§By the end of the day I was feeling quite at home in Nemours, imagining myself
posted by the smoking hearth of her parlour in the company of doctors and curates.¡¨ (Sijie p. 60) This
allows him to escape the hardships of mountain life on a mental level by imagining that he is taking
part in the experiences and situations in the story. After stealing a suitcase full of western novels from
their friend four eyes, the narrator becomes infatuated by book one of Jean Christophe. As he put it,
¡§To me it was the ultimate book: once you read it, neither your own life nor the world you lived in
would ever look the same.¡¨ (Sijie p. 117) The narrator takes the words of Jean Christophe to heart and
is filled with the desire to live through this re education in order to experience love, sex and a free
individual action against the world. In a way, the narrator and Luo envied the characters in the western
novels that they read daily. They wanted to escape the reality of the conditions they were living under
to experience the same freedoms as their favorite characters, and not be burdened by the controlling
power of Mao and his communist ways.
The tailor finds another way to escape the controlling grip of Mao. On his customary tour of the
villages before the New Year, the tailor decides to stay with Luo and the narrator while working in
their village. The two are baffled upon the

Pros And Cons Of Suburbanization
As one of the oldest cities in the United States, Philadelphia has been though the suburbanization just
like other American cities. As we have discussed above, most nice neighborhood, high quality school

accelerated since 2000 (Philadelphia Gentrification Maps and Data, n.d.). 84 tracts out of 383 total
tracts are gentrifying now, which makes up 28.7%. One of the possible sign of this phenomenon is the
population is moving back. If the city s gentrification is successful, the population is expected to grow.

Frank Sinatra Howard Cosell, a legendary commentator, spoke words about this legendary man that
more or less sums up his legendary career. He said Frank Sinatra, who has the phrasing, who has the

Why Hunters Should Not Hunting
Due to unethical hunters who use hunting as a front to kill exotic trophy animals, case in point Walter
Palmer and Cecil the lion. The American Dentist who traveled to Zimbabwe to kill thirteen year old
Cecil the lion who was living in a sanctuary. Hunters have been given a bad reputation, many people
think of hunters of trigger happy individuals who shoot anything that moves in the woods. This could
not be further from the truth; many hunters use hunting as an alternative choice at providing cheaper,
fresher meat for their families. Before hunters can even begin hunting they must be educated. All fifty
states require a basic hunter s education course except Alaska, they have stricter rules when it comes
to obtaining a hunting license. While this course differs for every state they have the same mission. To
teach hunters to be ethical, engaged, well informed and safe. In Texas kids who are sixteen and
younger must take the hunters safety course online but they must also attend a field day. To do this
there must be a classroom setting and state certified instructors, this creates jobs. According to
research done by the national shooting sports foundation an estimated 680,000 jobs are sustained from
hunting. Not only does hunting generate jobs into also brings in a lot of money. Chris Dolnack who is

Invertebrates In Alzheimer s Essay
Invertebrates in Alzheimer s
Recent medical advances, such as gaining the ability to observe closely the genetic makeup of an
individual, have led to the discovery that some invertebrates are somewhat genetically similar to
humans. Organisms like Caenorhabditis elegans, nematode worm, and Drosophila melanogaster, fruit
fly, appear to have genes similar to humans, where Alzheimer s disease genes are found. These
similarities will help researchers learn more about this relatively unknown disease and potentially save
human lives. The DNA of C. elegans and Drosophila can be used as models for studying the disease
and for testing new drugs to be used later on humans. These advances may lead to discoveries in
medicine that can save human lives in the future.
C. Elegans is a non parasitic round worm (nematode) found in locations rich with nutrients and
microorganisms, since it feeds on bacteria. This organism is commonly used as a model for testing
ideas related to aging, genetics, and drug response. This is because the genome sequence is very

Porgy And Bess Sparknotes
Porgy and Bess is a play written by three Caucasian men. The play was written in the 1920s 1930s.
Around this time racism was strong as ever. White people already didn t think much of us. It took
place in a small town in South Carolina called Catfish Row. The apartments sat close to a beach.
Throughout the play, there was plenty of ways that portrayed African American in a negative way.
Porgy and Bess is the epitome of how Caucasians thought of African Americans and the way we live.
Throughout my paper I m going to express how white people judged African Americans, Where did
Porgy and Bess come from, and The names of the characters and how degrading the authors are
making African Americans out to be. The names of the characters go a long way. Some of their names
have meaning to them, the meaning of their names are literally the role they play. And the time the
play was written.
Gershwin labeled the play as a folk opera. It was written in the year of 1935 by a Jewish man. Which
makes it interesting to study the kind of impact it had on the African Americans at that time. Gershwin

Data Mining And Evolutionary Algorithms For Multi...
Data mining Evolutionary algorithms for Multi objective Optimization problems: A study.
Data mining is the process of extracting the knowledge from the huge database available. The ultimate
aim of data mining involves prediction based on the knowledge gained. Data mining is known as
Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD) which is different ways mainly prediction and description.
When data mining applied over the real time problem which puts us into trouble by having conflicting
objectives to achieve which involves various measures which needs to minimized or maximized

It also helps to present the data with reduced set of samples without representing the whole data set,
which reduces the complexity in space and reduction in time. Data mining interesting knowledge
includes identifying the relations, differences; groups based one the similar features extracted. Data
mining mainly includes the mechanism for representing the data, Specification on required
information and method to search the algorithm. Representation model used to represent the
underlying data and interpretability of model which interacts with human.
Data mining prediction model works on the process of identifying the patterns based on the historical
information to predict the new incoming data sets. This prediction modelling is much useful in the
case of decision making process in the business models. On the other way, Descriptive model
describes the data in an efficient way by means of grouping the data by using clustering; association
rules principles of data mining.
Evolutionary Algorithms are working mainly based on two features variation (recombination and
mutation) to create the necessary diversity and selection of attributes to force to push quality. Variation
operator can be a recombination in the case of binary operation and mutation in the case of unary, The
evolutionary algorithms works on the basic steps start with initializing, Initialize the set with the

The War I And World War II Essay
The Thirty Years War
World War I and World War II are the largest military conflicts in history. In 1919, Europe attempted
to reconstruct the damage left by WWI. After WWI, with the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was left
destroyed and destabilized, which eventually laid out the foundation for WWII. The harsh terms of the
Treaty of Versailles led to the aggression of Germany. The Treaty of Versailles was supposed to bring
about peace, but Marshall Foch, generalissimo of the Allied Armies in France believed that instead, it
was an armistice for twenty years. The causes of WWII can easily be traced back to the unresolved
issues of WWI, thus bringing about the idea of the Thirty Years War. WWII is the second half of a
longer Thirty Years War because the first half, or WWI, caused economic instability, disintegration of
the European order, political and social unrest and psychological damage. The causes of WWII were
aggression of Germany and the appeasement that attempted to deal with the aggression, failure of the
League of Nations, collapse of three major Empires, Germany s repudiation of the Treaty of
Versailles, and the Great Depression. Ultimately, these causes can be traced back to the unresolved
issues of WWI.
The first direct cause of WWII that stemmed from WWI was the collapse of three major empires and
the failure of the League of Nations. After WWI, no government was in the same shape before the
war. The empires and dynasties of the Romanovs in Russia, the

Power Dynamic Between A Years Old And A Bengal Tiger
The Power Dynamic between a Sixteen Year Old and a Bengal Tiger Who has the power? A sixteen
year old or a Bengal tiger? Power is typically concerned with who or what has control over someone
or something else, so the question almost seems silly, because what could a young teenage boy have
over a carnivorous, wild animal? Although it may seem obvious that the wild animal would have
control over the boy, the answer is not as definite in the Life of Pi by Yann Martel. In the novel, the
tiger, Richard Parker, and the teenage boy, Pi Patel share power. In other words, the two characters
share power because of the unusual dynamic of equals between them. As a result of their dynamic, it
brings up the question of how this situation came to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My agency was pure and miraculous. It conferred power upon me (Martel 248). To further support Pi
s claim, Pi even provides evidence for why Richard Parker s reliance on him gave him power: Proof: I
remained alive day after day, week after week. Proof: he did not attack me, even when I was asleep on
the tarpaulin. Proof: I am here to tell you this story (Martel 248). If Pi Patel had not been on that
lifeboat with Richard Parker, the chances of survival of the tiger would have been slim. Richard
Parker would have eventually died of starvation or dehydration if Pi had not been there taking care of
him. Thus, Richard Parker s reliance on Pi gave Pi power over Richard Parker.
The way in which Pi assumed this power over Richard Parker was by establishing himself as an equal
to him. As Pi brought food to the tiger, Pi would use whistles to remind Richard Parker of who
provided him with food and water: ...not forgetting to blow the whistle hard several times, to remind
Richard Parker of who had so graciously provided him with fresh food (Martel 206). This method Pi
had developed proved to be successful on his mission to become equals with Richard Parker when Pi
stared into [Richard Parker s] eyes, wide eyed and defiant, and [they] faced off (Martel 246). Pi knew
that if he looked away and backed down, the tiger would never see him as an equal, because Richard
Parker would see

My Reflection Of My Writing And Communication
Writing is essential to communicating on many levels, and it can display your level of understanding
or lack of understanding communicating. Whether is Facebook, Twitter, an email to your co works, or
a professional document you will be judged by your writing style based on if it s good or bad. If your
writing style full of miss spelled words, bad grammar, and horrible flow you will fail to get your point
across clearly and people will think you are uneducated. This class is step one on my journey
improving my writing and learning as much as possible about the English language. Just like anything
else you have to start with the basics and I feel like I accomplished that over this last eight weeks. The
first bad habit this class help me correct was mixing up future, past tense, and current situations in one

confuse the reader because the document become hard to follow. Parallelism add smooth flow to your
paper, it can keep the reader eyes on your document. Additionally this method helps the writer
maintain consistency, and a balanced flow of ideas. Parallelism is most important when you are trying
to persuade your audience. Run on and fragments are something most of us struggle with. Social

The Positivity of Year-Round Schools Essay
Do you ever wonder why the kids cause so much chaos during vacation? Well they have too much

vacation made sense because academic achievement mattered less. An absence of air conditioning or
modern hygiene turned crowded schools into health risks, and children had moms who were home
every day. Times have changed now, so we have no need for summer vacation. Year Round schools

Allocated school and class time, instructional time, and academic learning time. Allocated school and
class time are hours of non instructional activities. Instructional time should be devoted to formal
instruction and learning, but not with poor teaching inattention. Lastly, is academic learning time
when the students are actually learning. The important and obvious distinction makes in clear why and
extended time proposal must focus on providing the kind of time such as instructional and academic
time, rather than just adding hours in general. Extending and improving the use of instructional time
could undoubtedly benefit all students. But studies suggest that extended time may matter more for
some students than others. Poor and minority students are less likely than their more affluent peers
that benefit from resources out of school. Evidence from the beginning school study (BBS), a long
study that began in 1982 by sociologists Doris Entwisle and Karl Alexander, shows that lower income
lose ground to higher income children over time because of what researches call summer learning
loss.
Some strategies for extending learning is more beneficial than others. Most calculations suggest that a
10% increase in time would require a 6% to 7% increase in cost. Cost calculations are based largely
on increased school staffing, but often do not consider other costs such as those for additional building
maintenance, electric, telephone, etc. The recent Massachusetts plan, which

National Debt Is Not Always A Bad Thing
When I first thought of national debt I thought about only the cons and disadvantages of having it. I
never gave thought as to what the advantages of having it may be. National debt is the amount of
money the federal government owes to lenders outside of itself. When the Treasury borrows funds, it
issues Treasury bonds; these are IOUs of the federal government. In other words, the national debt is a
stock of IOUs created by annual deficit flows. (Schiller 261) With the help of research and my
economics class, I have learned that having national debt is not always a bad thing. For example, the
financial crisis of 2008 2009 and the effects it had on the economy and people was horrible. However,
I learned that if it weren t for the increase in government borrowing by bailing out banks and financial
markets, the banks and financial markets could have froze and that would have thrown us into a Great
Depression type run on banks. If the government uses its debt the right way, then it will allow the
government to do things that it couldn t really do before. I believe investing that debt instead of
spending it would be the wiser choice. The government sometimes spends money so that consumers
will have money but they just end up spending it. This is just a way for the government to stimulate
spending at that moment. That s just a short term benefit. Therefore, by investing its debt in things
such as medical and technological research and education will create a long term

Princess Diana Influences
Princess Diana was known as the people s princess who stunned the world with her ability to conquer
any hurdles life threw at her. She also was known for showing the people that she cared. Her sudden
death left the world in shock, and many people say her touching story changed their life. Princess
Diana is an influential person because of her ability to overcome hardship, her unconventional royal
duties, her widely recognized charitable work, and the impact of her death.
Throughout the years of Princess Diana s life she showed her capability to overcome hardship, and
work through her pain to become someone the world would never forget. Her life began on July 1,
1961, in her quiet hometown of Sandringham, England. Diana learned at an early age how to deal with
her rough family life. Her struggles began when her parents divorced when she was a small child,
further lessening her relationship with her parents. Her and her four other siblings helped each other
through that tough time.
Prince Charles first became interested in Princess Diana when she was 16, this is where their love
interest began. At the time he was dating her older sister, Lady Sarah. A few years later she and Prince
Charles begin talking. After becoming friends, and eventually lovers Prince Charles and Diana

The Effects Of Low Morale On The Levels Of Interest And...
Some of the indicators of low morale can include a loss of interest and enthusiasm, excessive
absenteeism, excessive sick leaves, excessive turnover, increase in accidents, increased number of
complaints and grievances, negativism, noticeably less positive attitudes, to name a few.
Costs of Low Morale
The negatives costs of low morale can be astronomical and not fully realized by the organization. The
Saratoga Institute suggests an organizations average turnover costs a minimum of one year s salary
and benefits to a maximum of two years of salary. Higher turnover means significant recruitment and
replaced costs will occur to the organization. So if the agency has a high turnover rate, you can see
how the low morale can easily affect the budgetary concerns of the agency.
A side effect of high turnover is having several officers with little to no experience in the field. This
can cause a negative effect on other officers not having trust in the new officers, which could make
them less productive for the fear they will get into a situation that requires immediate back up and
they don t know if the rookies can handle themselves. Another side effect of having a lot of new
officers is the likelihood of mistakes being made in the field. These mistakes could be from simply not
getting all the information needed to effectively solve a case all the way up to the improper use of
force. These types of mistakes can lead to expensive lawsuits. Even if the officer acted correctly,

requirements for the Degree of Master of Business Administration at the School of Business, Public
Policy and Social Entrepreneurship, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study draws economic analogies for Heisenberg s Uncertainty principle and concentrates on the
17 largest Investment Banks and the 10 largest Mutual Funds. It tries to quantify the uncertainty and
lists the economic mass of every institution from among the two groups and the average economic
masses of each group as well. The study was restricted to publically listed Investment Banks and
Mutual Funds and the model was not applicable to privately held and boutique banks and also wasn t
applicable to hedge funds and other private funds which did not report their Net Asset Value Returns.
According to the findings, the economic mass was highest for Goldman Sachs while Toronto Domino
Bank shows the least economic mass. When it comes to Mutual Funds, Pimco the world s largest
mutual fund had the lowest economic mass; the exposure to the crisis could be the reason behind this.
The American Funds Growth Fund of America has the highest economic mass. This study has been
able to show that the Heisenberg s Uncertainty Principle has implications for financial institutions. For
future research, one could look into applying the model for privately held Financial Institutions and
those funds which do not report their returns like Hedge Funds.

How Did The Liberal Government Act Of Social Reform...
The Introduction of Social Reforms by the Liberal Government in 1906 1914
There are multiple reasons why the Liberal government introduced acts of social reform between 1906
and 1914. The obvious reason is that there was a great need for reform(change) but there are also
many other factors that played a part in the decision for a reform. This change was really required to
help and improve Britain. The reason for this need for change was the poor conditions that all parts of
Britain had been left in after the conservatives had been in power.
It is often said that the Liberals had to introduce in social reforms due to pressure from the Labour
party. This new party was formed in 1903 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this there were committees set up to evaluate and analyze this to show that the physical
condition males was very poor, as this was the group of people who would be defending Britain for
years to come something needed to be done. If Britain would always struggle to defeat.
The other factor that made the need seem realistically more desperate was from surveys carried out
indifferent places by two very different men Seebohm Rowntree and Charles Booth. The carried
surveys out on all classes but were very concerned about the poor. After many years of analyzing and
evaluating they calculated that a family of fives minimum necessary income per week for a family to
exist at mere physical efficiency was 21s 8d. this minimum amount was called the poverty line. Over a
third of the population of Britain were earning under this poverty line whilst another third were just
meeting it. Nearly all of the unemployment was caused by ill health or just lack of work available. If
the man lost his job the whole family would struggle to survive. This is when sometimes the children
were sent out to work. The liberals needed to change this and New Liberalism was the way.
People were questioning the cost of the Boer war 250 million pounds was spent on a so called
questionable conflict whe it could have been spent on

  • 2. Greek Immigration To Australia Case Study Greece, a country full of loving, loud and funny people has greatly impacted on Australia s immigration identity with almost 47% of greeks in Australia (recorded in 2014). In the 1920 s a strict system limited the number of non British immigrants to Australia, Greeks included between 1925 and 1929. This meant only 100 Greeks were allowed to immigrate each month. Gold rush immigration: The first significant Greek migration to Australia began in the 1850s during the gold rush. The government of Australian migration schemes targeted Greek and Italians in the 1950s and 1960s. More Greek settlers came to Australia came with the gold rushes in the 1850s. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1830 1930 most came by boat. 1930 onwards most came by plane because around 7% were killed on a boat and hardly any got killed in a plane. Why did they come? The Greeks were coming to Australia for a lot of reasons. They attracted immigration from countries with a younger workforce, inability to find jobs in their home country combined with Greece s need for cheap labor (especially in small scale family businesses). Another primary factor in this large scale rise in immigration is also the narrowing of the gap in terms of living standards between northern Europe and southern Europe, therefore, leaving Greece with very little to no living standards, expect the debris and wreckage of the war. What hardships did they face? The Greeks had some struggles like; finding jobs in Australia and finding a place to stay. Another hardship for the Greeks is that they had to learn English, therefore, creating a language barrier. How did they contribute? Greece brings many cultural riches to Australia like the wine industry, different types of cheeses and olives. Bringing the wine industry bring many high quality employees, therefore, improving Australia s standard of wine. • 4. Child Diagnosis Child Diagnosis The author of this paper is asked to diagnose a child s condition based on a series of symptoms. The author is also asked to provide treatment options and an overall treatment plan for the disordered diagnosed. The child in question is almost certainly autistic based on the totality of symptoms that exist and the author of this paper will justify this diagnosis and what should be done in response to the disorder being present. Diagnosis There are a number of tell tale signs that point to this child having autism. First, Asperger s should be disqualified because children with Asperger s are generally blabby and will not shut up and that is not an issue that this child has. That being said, Asperger s patients generally dislike any break in routine or structure that the child is accustomed to and this is definitely true of the patient in this case but Asperger s is simply a milder form of autism and it is clear that this child s case is much more advanced (WebMD, 2012). Two facet of this child s behavior that screams autism is the habit of being in his own world and hating it when anyone disrupts it as well as lining up his blocks and other toys in very distinct rows and patterns and this is something he does over and over again. This is a telltale sign of autism. His attachment to certain items is a huge red flag as is his general lack of engagement with children around him in social situations. Granted, a two year old will only have progressed so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Summary Of Three Sovereigns For Sarah The movie Three Sovereigns for Sarah is about a terrified town that is struck by the devils witchcraft and takes extraordinarily inhuman actions to rid themselves of the bad fortune. The story is told by an old woman who was accused of being a witch, but luckily lives long enough to confront her accusers. Three Sovereigns for Sarah has many contributing factors as to why witchcraft was believed and used as a genuine reason to murder citizens of the thirteen colonies such factors that lead to these absurd and ridiculous decisions and actions are likely to be based off the early sexist concepts of gender roles that took place in the colonies, the strong pull to uniform religious beliefs, and a superstition that terrified people into an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The religious beliefs of these days and ages were extremely strict, controlling, and very similar. The priest in this movie was very influential, he was the sole reason for the belief in the witchcraft that took over this town. Few males in charge made the decision to hang the Salem witches, but essentially the priest made the overall decision. He fed stories to the other females and males about their witchcraft and how the devils work had been done. It is believed that the priest did this so he could control the land and money that was possessed by the women he wrongfully accused and murdered. The early Colonists practiced Puritan religion. This religion consisted of believing that God had formed an agreement with the Colonists. They claimed that they were higher than all others and God made that known to them. They claimed that God wanted them to set a better example for all the British people who were going to be damned to hell for all the sins and filth they had done. This prompted the Colonists to live a very disciplined, unsatisfactory, and dull life. A definite theory on why the Salem Witchcraft was so strongly believed involved how powerful gender roles were. Although it is claimed in the Puritan ways that women were to be treated with kindness and consideration, they were to be seen very little and never heard. Wives and ... A Brief History of Library Automation An automated library is one where a computer system is used to manage one or several of the library s key functions such as acquisitions, serials control, cataloging, circulation and the public access catalog. When exploring the history of library automation, it is possible to return to past centuries when visionaries well before the computer age created devices to assist with their book lending systems. Even as far back as 1588, the invention of the French Book Wheel allowed scholars to rotate between books by stepping on a pedal that turned a book table. Another interesting example was the Book Indicator , developed by Albert Cotgreave in 1863. It housed miniature books to represent books in the library s collection. The ... Children in Cambodia directly suffered from trauma, which obviously dismisses the myth that children experience less pain than adults. The importance of Ung s book is the emotional impact she has on the reader because she gives a voice to the victims and to the dead. As Americans, this topic, the Cambodian genocide does not get taught commonly in education. It shows the trauma that the citizens went through and how it affected the country. The organization of the story follows Loung Ung s life from the day they left their home to the day she left for America. This quote was said by Paramahansa Yogananda and is a wonderful quote that spoke to me because I do have a close relationship to God and being helpful to other people is really important to me. I attended the Brahma Kumaris meditation center to learn more about what meditation consists of and expand my knowledge on why this is a big part in the Hindu religion. In class we I learned about the different types of yoga that is practiced in Hinduism. Jhana yoga, Bhakti yoga, Karma yoga, and Raja yoga are the different types of yoga practiced and I had some sort of understanding on what I would possibly see in the meditation session. I did some research on what the Brahma Kumaris meditation center was about and their main goal. In the Brahma Kumaris meditation center they focus on specifically raja yoga and focusing on self reflection and positivity. My first session at the meditation center was enlightening and very interesting because of the new things I learned and what they focus on to help people overcome obstacles in their lives. The main goal of raja yoga is to achieve control over the mind and emotions, to prevent negative thoughts and focus on the positive aspects in your life and in general. • 15. Role Of Hassall s In T Cell Development Role of Hassall s corpuscles in T cell development Abstract After being first described by Arthur Hill Hassall about 170 years ago, Hassall s corpuscles raised curiosity in the minds of many researchers. These fascinating structures are located in thymic medulla and for a long time their exact function had been an unanswered question. Recent advancements in research has shown that they play a role in the maturation and development of thymocytes in thymus. They are known to express cytokines, chemokines and other proteins suggesting that they interact with antigen presenting cells and are actively involved in the development of T cells. Many diseases related to auto immunity were found to vary from the normal condition, in the context of morphology of these structures, making it important to understand the nature and role of these bodies in the human thymus. The review highlights some of the current findings related to the structure and function of Hassall s corpuscles throwing more light upon their role in the development of T cells. Introduction The Thymus is a pinkish, lobulated organ that is located posterior to the sternum. The main function of the thymus is to process lymphocytes. It is an organ that undergoes involution; around the time of puberty it degenerates. Thymic involution is important as it is believed to be linked to immunosenescence and its associated diseases. Much study has been done to understand the cause and mechanism of thymic degeneration in the hope ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both Germany and the US systems have its setbacks. The US suffers from deficits in rich and poor disparity, over testing patients, and preventable deaths of adults and infants. German government established its system to distribute fairness to all by engulfing itself in the socioeconomic system. This idea differs from American policy which uses the government to develop systems of mass assistance (welfare, Medicare, etc) then state that the government shouldn t control it. The estrus cycle usually comes once a year, but can come twice although the female dingo can only become pregnant once a year (with the second time only seeming to be pregnant). Male dingoes in most regions are virile throughout the entire year, but usually have a lower sperm production in the summer. During studies on dingoes from the Eastern Highlands and Central Australia living in captivity, no breeding cycle was noticed. The breeding was only regulated by the heat of the female dingoes. A rise in the testosterone was observed in the male dingoes during the breeding season (1 March 30 June), but this was shown to be linked to the heat of the female dingoes and copulation. Male dingoes become sexually mature between the ages of one and three. The exact beginning of breeding depends on age, seasonal conditions, geographic range and social status. Among dingoes living in captivity, the pre estrus can last up to sixty days in the wild. Compare And Contrast The Raven And The Tell Tale Heart Kyle Cantrell Professor Toni 2 November 2017 Nevermore Edgar Allan poe is one of the most incredible gothic writers, with a library of many famous works. He is famous for his dark and ominous way of narrating, as well as his brutal and obscure endings to his tales. Arguably his most famous works are the poem entitled The Raven published January 29th 1845, and his short story The Tell Tale Heart published a few years earlier on January 1843. Both of these pieces of literature pulled the listener directly into Poe s mysterious world, with suspense and intensity in every line. The Raven and The Tale Heart written by Edgar Allan Poe both develop the gothic theme of madness by using dark imagery, similar symbolism, and torment. The Raven follows a man who is tormented by a large raven on top of his chamber door. He recently lost his lover Lenore, and he believes that this Raven is in his chamber is taunting him, and making light of his lost love. As the story progresses the narrator starts to drift further and further from sanity until he can no longer understand the events that are taking place. The Tell Tale Heart the main character is also driven to madness, but in this case it is by a mysterious eye, to the point where he must commit murder in order to feel at peace. In King Lear, Lear s youngest daughter Cordelia, by not accepting to play the game of love test, willingly sacrifices her dignity and honor as a king s daughter, surrenders her freedom for banishment and forfeits her possible inheritances and legacies from the retiring father. Out of her own choice, such willingness of self abnegation shines a light on Cordelia s virtue, love and devotion, if not loyalty, which are a moral compass that points to justice. Moving to the end of the play, where Cordelia is murdered in its most dehumanizing sense, Cordelia finally becomes a sacrifice to the heartlessness of a skewed, unjust world. Suffice to say, Cordelia s redoubtable virtue powerfully addresses the theme of folly and injustice in the work: Filial piety prevails despite a father s folly, and goodness persists despite schemers wickedness. However noble Cordelia is, King Lear is a tragedy in the sense that goodness and evils are perpetually dueling. It is difficult to judge which triumphs in the end; justice is in the balance. • 21. The Philosophy Of Epicurus, Epictetus, And Aquinas Through the works of Epicurus, Epictetus, and Aquinas, it is evident that their philosophies inherit a great deal of virtue. Although roughly specified, virtue is implanted within their different ideologies. From achieving happiness, stoic beliefs, and in respects to Christian idealism, virtue turns out to be the driving factor in determining the ideal meaning of life from the perspective of each philosopher and it gives them their value. Backed by firm evidence, it is notable that virtue is more apparent in the Thomism philosophy. The philosophy of Epicurus sought virtue as a condition of serenity in the soul. According to his thought, Epicureanism is centered in the achievement of happiness through the elimination of one s desires, and on pleasure and virtue claiming that It is impossible to live pleasantly without living wisely and honorably and justly (Epicurus, Doctrines, 1). This signifies that pleasure and virtue are interdependent and both sustain the concept of this ideology. To achieve happiness, one must do its best to live as virtuously as possible if they are to live a pleasant life. Pleasure is declared as the beginning and end of the happy life and by nature the greatest good (Epicurus, Doctrines, 13). This is so because living a life of pleasure means pain is absent and therefore makes life meaningful. The earliest known activities in descriptive linguistics have been attributed to Panini around 500 BCE, with his analysis of Sanskrit in Ashtadhyayi. The first subfield of linguistics is the study of language structure, or grammar. This focuses on the system of ruled followed by the users of a language. The opponents of regulation also argue that any form of internet regulation is against the individual s rights to freedom of expression and the concept of net neutrality because in such a scenario a person may not be able to choose the content he wants to view. However, it should be clearly understood that society is greater than a single person and if such rights of freedom cause harm to the values of the society as a whole, then it is perhaps the responsibility of the government to intervene and restrict the rights given to every individual in order to maintain those values. Organisms like Caenorhabditis elegans, nematode worm, and Drosophila melanogaster, fruit fly, appear to have genes similar to humans, where Alzheimer s disease genes are found. These similarities will help researchers learn more about this relatively unknown disease and potentially save human lives. In 1919, Europe attempted to reconstruct the damage left by WWI. After WWI, with the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was left destroyed and destabilized, which eventually laid out the foundation for WWII. The harsh terms of the Treaty of Versailles led to the aggression of Germany. The Treaty of Versailles was supposed to bring about peace, but Marshall Foch, generalissimo of the Allied Armies in France believed that instead, it was an armistice for twenty years. The causes of WWII can easily be traced back to the unresolved issues of WWI, thus bringing about the idea of the Thirty Years War. WWII is the second half of a longer Thirty Years War because the first half, or WWI, caused economic instability, disintegration of the European order, political and social unrest and psychological damage. The causes of WWII were aggression of Germany and the appeasement that attempted to deal with the aggression, failure of the League of Nations, collapse of three major Empires, Germany s repudiation of the Treaty of Versailles, and the Great Depression. Ultimately, these causes can be traced back to the unresolved issues of WWI. If Pi Patel had not been on that lifeboat with Richard Parker, the chances of survival of the tiger would have been slim. Richard Parker would have eventually died of starvation or dehydration if Pi had not been there taking care of him. Thus, Richard Parker s reliance on Pi gave Pi power over Richard Parker. The important and obvious distinction makes in clear why and extended time proposal must focus on providing the kind of time such as instructional and academic time, rather than just adding hours in general. Extending and improving the use of instructional time could undoubtedly benefit all students. But studies suggest that extended time may matter more for some students than others. Poor and minority students are less likely than their more affluent peers that benefit from resources out of school. • 40. National Debt Is Not Always A Bad Thing When I first thought of national debt I thought about only the cons and disadvantages of having it. I never gave thought as to what the advantages of having it may be. National debt is the amount of money the federal government owes to lenders outside of itself. When the Treasury borrows funds, it issues Treasury bonds; these are IOUs of the federal government. In other words, the national debt is a stock of IOUs created by annual deficit flows. (Schiller 261) With the help of research and my economics class, I have learned that having national debt is not always a bad thing. For example, the financial crisis of 2008 2009 and the effects it had on the economy and people was horrible. However, I learned that if it weren t for the increase in government borrowing by bailing out banks and financial markets, the banks and financial markets could have froze and that would have thrown us into a Great Depression type run on banks. If the government uses its debt the right way, then it will allow the government to do things that it couldn t really do before. I believe investing that debt instead of spending it would be the wiser choice. The government sometimes spends money so that consumers will have money but they just end up spending it. This is just a way for the government to stimulate spending at that moment. That s just a short term benefit. Therefore, by investing its debt in things such as medical and technological research and education will create a long term ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the indicators of low morale can include a loss of interest and enthusiasm, excessive absenteeism, excessive sick leaves, excessive turnover, increase in accidents, increased number of complaints and grievances, negativism, noticeably less positive attitudes, to name a few. Costs of Low Morale The negatives costs of low morale can be astronomical and not fully realized by the organization. The Saratoga Institute suggests an organizations average turnover costs a minimum of one year s salary and benefits to a maximum of two years of salary. Higher turnover means significant recruitment and replaced costs will occur to the organization. So if the agency has a high turnover rate, you can see how the low morale can easily affect the budgetary concerns of the agency. A side effect of high turnover is having several officers with little to no experience in the field. This can cause a negative effect on other officers not having trust in the new officers, which could make them less productive for the fear they will get into a situation that requires immediate back up and they don t know if the rookies can handle themselves. Another side effect of having a lot of new officers is the likelihood of mistakes being made in the field. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study draws economic analogies for Heisenberg s Uncertainty principle and concentrates on the 17 largest Investment Banks and the 10 largest Mutual Funds. It tries to quantify the uncertainty and lists the economic mass of every institution from among the two groups and the average economic masses of each group as well. The study was restricted to publically listed Investment Banks and Mutual Funds and the model was not applicable to privately held and boutique banks and also wasn t applicable to hedge funds and other private funds which did not report their Net Asset Value Returns. According to the findings, the economic mass was highest for Goldman Sachs while Toronto Domino Bank shows the least economic mass. When it comes to Mutual Funds, Pimco the world s largest mutual fund had the lowest economic mass; the exposure to the crisis could be the reason behind this. The American Funds Growth Fund of America has the highest economic mass. This study has been able to show that the Heisenberg s Uncertainty Principle has implications for financial institutions. For future research, one could look into applying the model for privately held Financial Institutions and those funds which do not report their returns like Hedge Funds. PAGE 5

  • 47. How Did The Liberal Government Act Of Social Reform... The Introduction of Social Reforms by the Liberal Government in 1906 1914 There are multiple reasons why the Liberal government introduced acts of social reform between 1906 and 1914. The obvious reason is that there was a great need for reform(change) but there are also many other factors that played a part in the decision for a reform. This change was really required to help and improve Britain. The reason for this need for change was the poor conditions that all parts of Britain had been left in after the conservatives had been in power. It is often said that the Liberals had to introduce in social reforms due to pressure from the Labour party. This new party was formed in 1903 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of this there were committees set up to evaluate and analyze this to show that the physical condition males was very poor, as this was the group of people who would be defending Britain for years to come something needed to be done. If Britain would always struggle to defeat. The other factor that made the need seem realistically more desperate was from surveys carried out indifferent places by two very different men Seebohm Rowntree and Charles Booth. The carried surveys out on all classes but were very concerned about the poor. After many years of analyzing and evaluating they calculated that a family of fives minimum necessary income per week for a family to exist at mere physical efficiency was 21s 8d. this minimum amount was called the poverty line. Over a third of the population of Britain were earning under this poverty line whilst another third were just meeting it. Nearly all of the unemployment was caused by ill health or just lack of work available. If the man lost his job the whole family would struggle to survive. This is when sometimes the children were sent out to work. The liberals needed to change this and New Liberalism was the way. People were questioning the cost of the Boer war 250 million pounds was spent on a so called questionable conflict whe it could have been spent on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
