as well. In Matthew Dixon s painting, the Portrait of Margaret Blagge, the value falls under tenebrism.
Chiaroscuro is the contrast between dark and light in a painting, and tenebrism is an extreme case of
chiaroscuro, with a violent contrast between dark and light. Dixon was able to have Margaret Blagge
stand out from the background by composing the whiteness of her skin directly next to the darkness of
the background. By using tenebrism, Matthew Dixon was able to achieve a great deal of volume in his
painting. Where the whiteness of Margaret Blagge s skin touches the darkness of the background it is
as though she can be lifted out of her frame. John Singer Sargent s Portrait of Sally Fairchild, is

Background information: Jean Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin both thought and had ideas on
how life on Earth got to be the way it is now. Unlike lots other people at that time (1800 s), they both
thought that life had changed gradually over many years and an extended time and was still changing,
that living things change to be better suited and adapted to their environments. Lamarck is best known
for his Theory of Inheritance of Acquired Characteristics. He said that change is made by what the
organisms want or need. For example, Lamarck believed that giraffes stretched their necks to reach
food. Their descendants and later generations inherited the resulting long necks. Lamarck also
believed that evolution happens according to a prearranged plan and that the results have already been

when they were single women. The suspect s maiden name was Minnie Foster. She was a beautiful

reason why John Wright was murdered. The audience sees character motivation in Mrs. Wright. Mr.
Wright was a man who used silence and coldness to control and mold his wife into someone he
thought she ought to be. He killed the singing bird, which was a symbol for Mrs. Wright as Minnie
Foster. In an indirect way, he killed her joy of singing, her spirit, keeping her in her own cage which

system at present namely probation, restitution and community service (Zehr, 1990). Admittedly they
are not readily termed restorative justice programs however they are grounded in its theory.
The current conventional criminal justice process takes a more punitive, retributive view of criminal

much nitrogen can result in an overgrowth of algae, or eutrophication. This process takes up much of
the oxygen in the water, leaving very little for animals, causing them to suffocate and die. Drinkable
water has the cutoff of 10 ppm for the nitrate levels, while completely unpolluted waters tend to have

he hit the throttle around the corner and we slid sideways. I was sold, this car was quick. I was going
to buy this project car no matter what it took. We loaded the car up on the trailer and gave him $500
and we were headed back home. A few weeks past before we started working on the car. We ordered
parts and eventually got it to run better, and we were able to keep the engine cool by adding electric
fans. We found a set of used tires to put on it. The tires were not the right offset size, so the rear tires

after adding 100 µM nitrite into the phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0), an obvious irreversible
oxidation peak at about 0.82 V is observed (curve d), which is 140 mV negatively shifted compared
with β Ni(OH)2/GCE. Furthermore, the oxidation peak current on β Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE is larger
than that on β Ni(OH)2/GCE. This indicated that the large effective area of electrode resulting from
high conductivity and high surface area of CDs, as well as the synergistic effects of β Ni(OH)2 and
