Rosalind Franklin Contributions
You look at science (or at least talk of it) as some sort of demoralizing invention of man, something
apart from real life, and which must be cautiously guarded and kept separate from everyday existence.
But science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated. Said Rosalind Franklin, one of the
greatest female scientists, in a letter to her father. Franklin is saying that science should not be
interfered by human civilization, but human civilization needs and relies on science. This is significant
because Franklin discovered so much for the human race through science, hence what she said,
science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated. Though many might not recognize her
name, Rosalind Franklin changed the world of biology forever. Born on July 25, 1920 in Notting Hill,
London, to a family that was jewish, but she believed in no such thing. Rosalind Franklin was a very
intelligent child; she excelled in school always ahed of where she was supposed to be. By the time
Franklin was fifteen she already knew she wanted to be a scientist. She was taught at North London
Collegiate school and went to college at Newnham Collage where she studied chemistry. Moving on,
Rosalind Franklin, was best know for discovering the structure of DNA, but what most do not know
she was did much more. For example, she studied coal utilization, and x ray diffraction. She actually
was the teacher and mentor for Raymond Gosling who created the first visible x ray photo. With

Work Rate and Oxygen Uptake
The Relationship Between Work Rate And Oxygen Uptake During Incremental Submaximal Exercise
Introduction
Oxygen uptake () describes the rate at which oxygen is utilized by tissues (Burton et al, 2004). is
determined by heart rate (heart beats each minute), stroke volume (the volume of blood pumped from
one ventricle each beat) and arteriovenous oxygen difference (difference in blood oxygen content
between arterial and venous blood). Oxygen is needed for respiration, the chemical process that
produces energy in the form of ATP. Several sources agree that oxygen uptake increases linearly with
exercise, this is due to the skeletal muscles requirement for more oxygen for the production of more
ATP. Hanson et al (1998) measured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the participant in this trial to sustain 60rpm, their muscles must produce progressively more force
after each increment, as 0.5kg resistance is applied to the flywheel each time, therefore the energy
demands of the muscle progressively increase. A deviation from the trend during the middle of the
trial was not expected as most sources agree the relationship is linear (Burton, Özyener, Glassford),
however Astrand (1961) found a non linear steeper increase in during the middle stages. Astrand s non
linear pattern may be explained by production of power increasing to a point beyond the lactate
threshold, the point at which lactic acid starts to accumulate in the blood. A slowly developing
increase in during constant work rate exercise performed above the lactate threshold produces a
curvilinear relationship and is known as the slow component of kinetics (Jones et al, 2011). The cause
for the steep increase at the final stage of the trial is supported by the research of Bernard et al (1996),
who measured the effects of increasing exercise intensities recording oxygen consumption and heart
rate simultaneously. Findings revealed a significant correlation with the best predictions of from work
rate observed at higher intensities. Bernard s findings support results in table 1 that

Summary and Analysis of The Parson s Tale Essay
Summary and Analysis of The Parson s Tale (The Canterbury Tales)
Prologue to the Parson s Tale:
When the Manciple s Tale was done, it was then four o clock. The Host claimed that only one tale
remained. The Parson, however, refused to tell a foolish story, for Paul advised against telling false
stories. He says that he will tell a virtuous tale in prose.
The Parson s Tale:
There have been many spiritual ways that have led people to Jesus Christ and to the reign of glory.
The most prominent of these ways is Penitence. St. Ambrose claims that Penitence is the acceptance
of guilt for what a man has done and a pledge to do no more. Perfect Penitence requires contrition of
heart, confession of mouth and satisfaction. The root of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sixth, a man should hope to forfeit sin and receive the gift of grace and the glory of heaven. This
contrition should be universal. The second part of Penitence is confession, the sign of contrition.
Confession is the showing of all sins to a priest. All sins stem from the original sin of Adam, and there
are two types, venial sins and sins of deed. The latter occur when a man loves any creature more than
Jesus. Venial sins occur when a man loves Jesus Christ less than he ought.
There are seven deadly sins. Pride is the worst of them, for the other sins, Ire, Envy, Sloth, Avarice,
Gluttony and Lechery, stem from Pride. Pride can be manifest in many forms, including the wearing
of ostentatious clothing. The remedy for Pride is humility, when a man holds himself as not worthy of
heaven, despises no other man and cares not what men think of him. Envy is the sorrow in others
fortune and delight in others pain. The remedy for Envy is love of God first and trust in one s fellow
man. After Envy there is Ire, which manifests itself in hate. The remedy against Ire is patience and the
acceptance of suffering. Sloth is the anguish of a troubled heart. The remedy for this is fortitude.
Avarice is the desire to have earthly things. Avarice can be distinguished from Envy, for Envy is to
covet things that one does not have, while Avarice is to keep things that one has without rightful need.
The remedy for Avarice is pity. Gluttony is the immeasurable appetite to eat or drink.

Thesis Statement On Job Satisfaction
Pearson and Seiler (1983) found in their research on 336 faculty members from 24 universities in
Unites States, predictors for job satisfaction were tenure, teaching load, gender, institution type as in
private or public, and age. Salary and ranking on the other hand surprising did not play a big role in
influencing perceived job satisfaction. In comparison, it was found that those in professional colleges
reported higher job satisfaction than those in general college. Those who reported higher job
satisfaction were those with higher salaries, lower teaching loads, and speedier promotion rate. The
researchers further explain the possibilities to why lecturers from professional colleges reported higher
satisfaction was because of the job security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Olsen, work stress or job related stress were related to time management conflicts,
compensation issues such as salary, feedback and job security. The level of job stress will play a role
in determining job satisfaction level as suggested by the research done by Usman and colleagues in
Punjab in 2011. The researchers posited that the higher work stress experienced by the faculty
members, the lower will be their satisfaction with their job. High job stress will also lead to lower
organizational commitment (Usman, Ahmed, Ahmed, Akbar, 2011). The researchers suggested that by
minimizing role ambiguity, it will directly reduce the role stress experience by the teaching members
and indirectly lower job stress as a whole. Thompson and Dey (1998) found that sources of stress for
African American college and university faculty were time constraints, promotion concerns, and
overall stress. Thompson and Dey also found that stress regardless of sources negatively affecting job
satisfaction. The most prominent evidence in the researchers finding was the negative effect of stress
in regarding of promotion towards the level of job satisfaction. In fact the researchers found that the
more stress the respondents were about promotion, the least satisfied they were about aspects such as

Photography Pre-College Essay
Many people can pinpoint the exact moment that influences them to follow a certain life path. For me,
going to college in New York and becoming a photographer has been an innate part of my life. I
entered my first photography competition in the third grade and have been lusting over the big city
longer than anyone can remember. Although I am unsure where this plan stemmed from, everything in
my life has been geared towards this goal.
This past summer, I participated in a three week photography pre college program in Manhattan.
Although I had been to New York once before, living on my own and seeing the city from the
perspective of a college student has strengthened my belief that New York is where I belong. During
this program, I was able

Constantine s Conversion
Although some disagree as to the real influence of some of his actions, it cannot be denied that the
name of Constantine in whom ... the dream of the triumph of Christ in the world became associated...
will forever be inseparable from the formation of the early church. The conversion of Constantine
occurred as he was marching on Rome to unite the country under his rule. There are two events that
transpired that lead to his conversion. The first event was the Vision of the Cross where Constantine
saw a trophy of a cross in the sky with the inscription CONQUER BY THIS . The second event was a
vision that Constantine had of the Son of God telling him to use the sign of the cross in battle as a sign
of protection. These two occurrences led

Marriage and Twelfth Night
At the end of Shakespeare s comedic plays all complications and disorders are resolved and a new
order is generated to the satisfaction of the audience. to what extent is this true of Shakespeare s
Twelfth Night?
It is easily argued that Shakespeare s comedic plays have a similar, formulaic, structure. Dr Schwartz
from the California Polytechnic State University argues that the action of a comedy traces a movement
from conflict to the resolution of conflict . There are many disorders and complications in each plot,
which by the end of the play must be resolved for the satisfaction of the Elizabethan audience, and in
some perspectives, this applies to the modern day audience as well. Twelfth Night poses many
different arguments as to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Antonio is a character whom it could be argued does not receive a happy ending. It is easily identified
by particularly modern audiences, that Antonio is a character who may have homosexual desires. The
language used in: my desire, more sharp than steel, did spur me on could be interpreted as rather
lustful especially the words sharper than steel which suggests sexual imagery. This circumstance of
mistaken identity, when Antonio is in trouble and mistakes Cesario for Sebastian, for some audiences
leans more towards tragedy than comedy because the consequences are more severe. We see how
betrayed Antonio feels in the line how vile an idol proves his god! Antonio worshipped Sebastian like
an idol, and relieved him with such sanctity of love , only to discover he is the beauteous evil . The
audience may feel pity towards Antonio; this is something they will want resolved. It can be argued
this does happen when Sebastian returns. This may have been a good enough resolution for an
Elizabethan audience, as many of them will have had no desire to see a homosexual pairing, and
perhaps Sebastian s marriage to Olivia would leave them satisfied that no homoerotic acts occur. The
question to Antonio s happiness never seems to be resolved,

Pros And Cons Of Space Race
Do We Need Another Space Race? The possibility of a second space race has grown stronger than
ever recently. After the launch of the most affordable and the second most powerful rocket of all time,
the Falcon Heavy by SpaceX, the subject has been given new life. Following the successful launch,
Elon Musk, the head of SpaceX, stated that he wants to start a second space race. Already, his wish
has started coming true. After only a week after the first launch, many other companies have already
stated their own plans for rocket launches and development. However, throughout all the excitement
and speculations, people are forgetting to ask an important question: do we even need another space
race? The original space race took place from the estimated years of 1957 all the way through 1975,
starting with the launch of the first man made satellite, the Sputnik I, and ending with the Apollo
Soyuz mission, which contained a Soviet cosmonaut and an American astronaut shaking hands in
outer space, closing off the space race with a rather symbolic ending. During the space race, the
United States and the Soviet Union, who were the strongest nations in the world at the time, both
competed to make the most scientific and technological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a few downsides scattered around that are either entirely unavoidable or just simply need to
be worked out. The biggest problem that would most likely form is the increased amount of pollution
that would result from a higher launch rate for rockets and other space fairing vehicles. The Falcon
Heavy rocket used around 970,034 pounds of fuel during the test flight from February of 2018.
SpaceX also plans on launching another rocket every two weeks sometime in the future, which would
unfortunately cause major environmental damage unless a new, less damaging fuel type or more
efficient propulsion method could be developed, or if SpaceX would change their plans to be a little

Analysis Of Guests Of The Nation

CREATIVE TITLE
Frank O Connor s Guests of the Nation is an ironic and tragic short story of two Englishmen who are
held captive as collateral during the Irish War of Independence. Belcher and Hawkins are friendly
hostages they frequently argue, play cards, and discuss politics and religion with their Irish captors,
Bonaparte and Noble. They behave as if they are unaware of the armed conflict that surrounds them.
The shooting of Belcher is climactic in that O Connor forces the reader to consider the main theme: in
war, everybody has to do his or her duty, so Bonaparte and Noble are unable to prioritize their
friendship. Frank O Connor condemns the concept of nationalism expressing a camaraderie among the
characters preceding the Englishmen s deaths to help them to cope with an adverse situation that is
foreign to all of them. CHANGE THESIS! But how...
In the heat of a war, one would anticipate animosity or turmoil between the nations, not card games
and banter about the afterlife and about capitalism. Instead, the four soldiers coexist peacefully,
possess similar ideas regarding the war, and even consider each other chums. Excluding Donovan, the
men share a common preconception towards nationalism; the hostages final moments include a plea
for life right before Hawkins is shot, he says to Bonaparte: You won t come over to my side, so I ll
come over to your side. Is that fair? (O Connor 3).

The Legacy Of Hip Hop And Rap, And Its Release Changed The...
The son of a professor raised in a middle class suburb, Kanye West was never supposed
to be a rapper. West was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 8th
divorced when he was three, he moved with his mother to Chicago. His mom worked as the
chair of the English Department at the nearby Chicago State University, and Kanye grew up in
relative comfort in a nicer suburb of Chicago. West became fascinated with music at a young
age, eventually leading him to drop out of college to pursue it full time. His first two albums,
The College Dropout and Late Registration established himself as a premier player in the rap
game, as well as paved the way for his third album, Graduation. Released in September of 2007,
Graduation was very well received by critics and the general public alike, but its importance
goes much further than simply sounding appealing. Graduation epitomizes the changing
landscape of hip hop and rap, and its release changed the rap industry into what it is today.
In the fall of 2002, Kanye West suffered a near fatal car crash that would change his life
forever. The crash left him with a shattered jaw that need to be wired shut, and a whole new
perspective to work from. Prior to this, West had been trying for years to secure a rap contract,
but labels refused to give him a chance. He had rose to prominence as a beat maker, particularly
through his work on Jay Z s most iconic album, The Blueprint, but many in the music industry
did not believe he

Major Sociology Of Health And Aging
Journal 1
One of the main reasons I chose to major in sociology of health and aging is because I was always
really interested in the definition of health. How is health defined within and between cultures? Is
there a universal definition of health and if so who gets to create said definition. As I become more
and more involved in this idea of health I found it to be socially constructed depending on the culture
on belongs too. There is no one definition for even within a specific culture an individual s health is
changing over time, health is dynamic and at different stages of you life span an individual s definition
and perception of health changes with them. However before we dive into specific avenues on how
health is influenced I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However given this information there are still a variety of other factors i.e. social factors that can have
a massive influence on an individuals health and these things are not the easy to change and
manipulate. Social determinates of health is loosely defined as the conditions in which people are
born, grow, live etc. individuals tend to have less control over theses factors especially at a younger
age. Which got me thinking how does one s social economic status influence an individual s health.
Is there a massive gap between individuals of more marginalized group compared to the majority
when socio economic status is involved? How about taking a look at individuals who have
approximately the same financial income and live in different areas of a specific town, or state so
comparing urban areas to suburban areas. Also looking to see if individuals of lesser socioeconomic
have in general poorer health if so then why. I personally believe that there will be a huge disparity
between individuals who have a higher socioeconomic status compared to those who make a lot less.
As you continue to look at the opposite ends of the spectrum I think that gap will only become more
and more wide. Personally I am an African American student living in London and I have had to
experience the challenge with regards to eating healthy on a student budget and it can at time be more
than challenging.
Currently I am overweight and because of the information

The Impact Of Business Technology On The Workplace
Business technology these days can include a large variety of things such as... computers/laptops,
networks and software applications, electronic whiteboards and smart boards, facsimile machines,
telephones landline and mobile, PDA devices (personal digital assistant) blackberry s, MP3 players,
television and video equipment. By using any one of these pieces of technology in the workplace as a
leader/manager it can make scheduling and monitoring your jobs alot easier. Much of the technology
used today is used in he workplace a good example of this is instead of sending out letters today s
version using technology is sending an email. It s quick, it s easy and its efficient. Alot of
mangers/leaders rely on today s technology. It makes there work alot easier and they can work alot
more efficiently and effectively.
As a leader/manager there are many things you can do to maintain and achieve a good work/life
balance. Some of these things could be:
1 Using flexiable work hours You can meet competing needs without reducing the amount of time that
you work. These schemes can take the form of varying start and finishing times, that alow you and
your employee s to work efficiently, and accomodate personal committments, such as picking up the
chldren from school. Good workers/employee s can be trusted to do what it takes to get the job done.

Alzheimer’s Disease Essay
Alzheimer s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder, meaning it attacks the neurons within the brain.
Neurons are the areas of the brain that allow for chemical messages, or neurotransmitters, to be
transmitted. These neurons are necessary for connections with other nerve cells, and without them, the
neuronS ultimately die. Alzheimer s is a form of, and the most common cause of, dementia, or loss of
intellectual capacity and personality. ( Dementia. ) Alzheimer s disease, or AD, is not a normal part of
aging, although risk of developing the illness increases with age. The onset behavior of the disease

Although these formations are the hallmarks of this disease, it is still unclear to scientist whether these
are the cause or effect (byproduct) of AD. ( Alzheimer s Disease ) To reiterate, symptoms of AD were
always present, but were never recognized or coined until 1907. Before Alzheimer s big break
through, the majority of the community correlated dementia and age as a natural. The connotation of
the term senile implied old age or progression of age. It wasn t until the late 1970s where neurological
studies boomed and credited Alzheimer s as an accepted disease. Later as a result, the Alzheimer s
Association was created in 1985. (Reger 2) This gradually perpetuated further understanding of this
disorder that is still being continued today. Although research has not shown any definitive causes of
AD, there are significant risk factors. The most highly prominent known risk factor for AD is in fact
age. Age plays a crucial role in determining the severity of ones AD and is distinguished by two types:
early onset (Familial Alzheimer s disease or FAD) and late onset (Sporadic AD). FAD rarely appears
and follows an obvious inheritance pattern. Statistically less than ten percent are classified as FAD.
Early onset usually makes itself known between the ages of thirty to sixty years of age. This may also

Recommendation Letter For My Superiors At The Company I Work
The following paper will establish how I will communicate a request to my superiors at the company I
work for. In order for my request to be properly communicated to my superiors I will firstly need to
clearly identify the request. Secondly, I will need to analysis my audience. Thirdly, I will need to
specify which tactics will be used to influence my audience. Finally, I will write the memo that I plan
on submitting to my audience.
1. Request: The industry of construction is an industry where you have to be precise and very
accurate. This is why I will be requesting that the superiors in my company purchase a piece of
software Chief Architect and revert from using their current software Sketch up . This task will require
persuasion because the owners of the company think that using open source software like Sketch up
will be sufficient. The company has been using Sketch up for over five years and their thought process
is that its free, it works, and there is no need to pay for other software. One of the designers and
architects at the firm has tried to ask for this software in the past and the bosses turned the idea down
because the software was too expensive. The designer didn t provide any evidence or provided little
logic for his argument, which is why he was unsuccessful in influencing the superiors. Influencing
them into purchasing is the only option now and everyone in the company acknowledges the need for
such software except the superiors.

Judging To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Judgment has become part of everyday life, something you need to get used to. To Kill a Mockingbird
by Harper Lee a historical fiction. Whether it was Scout, Jem or, any of the Maycomb citizens they
always had judge everybody and anybody that came in there sight. Being even racist against the black
happen every day, judging them by their looks and skin color was the ways many people in Maycomb
function. Throughout the novel the characters judge each other though first impressions, social class
and behavior. Social class judgment has occurs in the story many in the story many of times. One
example would be when Jem judges Maycomb citizens by who they like and do not like. The thing
about it is, our kinds of folks don t like the Cunninghams, the Cunnighams don t like the Ewells, and
the Ewells hate and despise the colored folks. (258). Social class was being judged here and that is one
of many social class judgment in this story by the characters. Another social class judgment would be
when Miss Caroline was being judged on her wealth and her looks by Scout. Miss Caroline was no
more than twenty one. She had bright auburn hair, pink cheek, and wore crimson fingernail polish.

Estj Assignment
Extraverted, sensing, thinking, judging: the supervisor within the realm of personalities. As an ESTJ, I
thrive on order and continuity (Jung). I tend to stick with the idea of tradition and seek the history. As
an Extrovert, I receive energy from the people that surround me and promote work ethic. Not someone
to show emotion, I gain through logical and practical terms. I find myself in situations that require
thought, planning, or organization. In some cases, I do tend to stray away from the results that I was
given through the personality test. On my personality test, I was scored as a 56% extrovert. An
extrovert gains and focuses energy on the people around them. I believe most of my energy comes
from the people that surround me, including friends and family. I would rather be out in public than
alone all the time. On a Friday night, you can find me with friends. Being an extrovert is the reason I
am involved in several extracurricular activities. I am able to use the gifts from God, such as
leadership and communication skills, when I am active in public. At a Student ... Show more content

I sometimes could be labeled as an intuitive person because I can sometimes be seen worrying about
the future. This does not happen often, but if it does it is usually about a smaller planned event and not
the entire future. I am someone who would rather stay in reality and know about the past. Facts are an
important key to a story or life in general. I enjoy to hear the history of a situation, to be able to see if I
am able to build on the situation. During a meeting, I would rather hear about the past first then try to
come up with new ideas that may not work. I also am an observer in situations. When walking into a

important at the time, but I would rather notice and observe details as soon as I enter a new

Meno And Socrates Socratic Paradox
In Plato s work The Meno , a socratic dialogue attempting to define virtue, chapters 77b 79e outline
the Socratic Paradox, which focuses on the question of whether or not one can desire bad things.
Plato outlines this through a dialogue between his character Meno and Socrates. The Socratic Paradox
claims that no one desires bad things, i.e. no one desires things that are bad for them. Socrates claimed
that to possess bad things would leave someone miserable and unhappy. One that desires bad things
simply desires them because they think they are good. There are some implications to this claim. If
Plato is correct that we cannot knowingly do something that harms us, or that we cannot do an action
knowing that it will harm us in the long term, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scott offers a modern example to support this. Suppose someone is on a certain kind of medication
that requires them to not drink alcohol otherwise the medication will not work and they will be in
great pain. They are completely aware of this and know that if they drink they will be miserable and
wretched . Meno thinks it is quite possible for a person to want to drink regardless of this knowledge.
Socrates would be determined to argue that if you know something is bad overall you cannot desire it.
Although I see the conclusion Scott is trying to point to, I feel that his example is fairly weak as one
could interpret Socrates as saying that someone who is completely rational cannot desire things that
are bad for them. However I would claim that even this can be counteracted: surely even the most
intelligent and rational people can want to drink and smoke? Therefore, I would claim that what Plato
is trying to point out in the Meno is somewhat simplistic and needs to be looked at

Traditional And Lo s Theory And Systems Thinking
Traditional (EPO) and (LO) learning organizations capitalize off their ability to create learning
opportunities because organizations have the opportunity to motivate leaders and followers giving
them a since of empowerment through training to eschew mistakes. The main characteristic difference
between traditional organizations and LO were their system thinking (Johnson, 2009). O Connor
McDermott (1997) noted that system thinking is comprised of feedback loops (reinforcing and
balancing) with identifiable patterns and continuous loops that helped people think in circles that were
comprised of system theory and systems thinking. These authors revealed that the concept of a system

Bobis (2011) further implied that when leader s mastered system thinking language, their contribution
to an organization as a whole was fostered because system thinking is what is needed to operate from
the sideline which gave allowance for innovation by reviewing the company in a linear perspective,
while embracing the chaos theory through exploration when organizations dealt with complex system
changes in the initial stages of making a difference in organizational outcomes.
Comparison of Traditional and LO
Johnson (2009) stated that Traditional (EPO) Efficient Performance Organizations and (LO) have five
differences that make up the design of organizational elements, and they are: structure, systems,
culture, strategy and tasks. Traditional EPO operated under structure that is vertical that embraced a
level of authority that demonstrated a design that was considered functional, while LOs employed a
structure that was horizontal that influenced interconnected activities in a functional manner the
excluded a system, called caste, to avoid the disturbance of communication efficiency and cooperation
of department s efficiency. Understanding the need for accommodating

A Presidential Election Essay
2016 marks the year of a presidential election and to the larger population the president creates an
image power in the government. He/she is a figurehead and the deciding signature to all legislation
passed by Congress. Though Congress is complicated and now a days doesn t seem to be getting many
bills signed into law. The people of the US still vote for these officials with the hope that these people
will represent the interest and goals of the larger population. Even if that means arguing and having
many negotiations, that s how people believe things get done in Congress. Negotiation is key along
with the tactics used in this process to even start passing or creating a bill in Congress. Both principled
negotiation tactics along with others are used to create movement depending on the situation.
Negotiation is a discussion aimed at making an agreement (Fisher, Ury, Patton, 2011, p. 10). People
use negotiation every day and in almost any situation where they want something else from someone.
Kids, for example, want more TV time so they bargain that if they do more chores they can have more
time watching TV from their parents. Adults tend to use it in their jobs when they have a contract or a
discussion about their salary with their boss. Larger groups such as unions also can negotiate for
contracts with larger companies and advocate for many people not just one. Congress needs to do this
too. They aren t only negotiating with outside entities doing constituent work

Primate Evolution
Primate Taxonomy Primate Taxonomy Introduction This first lecture is designed to introduce the
primate order in terms of its classification and to familiarise you with the animals so that the rest of
the course makes some sort of sense. I will cover a working definition of what makes a primate, give
you a general classification scheme, describe the major features that identify the groups within the
classification and discuss some of the controversial areas of the classification. I shall treat the
taxonomy as a synonym for classification which seems to be its commonest current usage, although
you should be aware that some people consider taxonomy to be more about the principles behind the
classification than the classification itself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 6 shows a selection of mammalian skulls. The primate skulls are the two on the right and as
you can see, they have relatively short snouts. Obviously there is a huge amount of variation in gross
skull shape across the mammalian class, but certainly, on average, primate skulls tend to be short.
Elaboration of the visual apparatus, with the development of varying degrees of binocular vision.
Orbits ringed with bone. Figure 6 also shows the characteristic morphology of the primate orbit. The
eyes face forward for binoccular region, the eyes tend to be quite large, and the orbit is either a fully
enclosed cup (as in the chimp in figure 6) or a lateral post orbital bar (as in the aye aye). In most other
mammals (for example the bear and kangaroo), the eye is simply plastered onto the side of the skull
and held in place by soft tissue. Page 6 of 21 Primate Taxonomy Reduction of the olfactory
apparatus The reduction in the size of the snout and the increased reliance on vision has also led to a
relative reduction in the olfactory apparatus compared to many other mammals. This is again apparent
from figure 6 and is associated with the reduction in size of the snout. Loss of certain elements of the
primitive mammalian dentition. Preservation of a simple

Mona Lisa Smile-Then and Now
By watching Mona Lisa Smile, I noticed that life as a young adult during the 1950 s was similar and
very different than how life is now in 2005. In the 1950 s birth control was unheard of and people
made it out to be against the law whereas today, birth control is the most widely used drug to prevent
pregnancy. Within a typical 1950 s household, the soul responsibility of a wife was taking care of her
husband and kids and the husband s role was working for his family and keeping them financially
stable, which males still make the effort to do. Similarly, a wife s role today is also providing financial
stability and actually finding a job in the workforce. Moreover, women s roles in the 1950 s
differentiate the most from the roles in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for men, they also got an education, got married , but entered the workforce. As a husband, their
responsibility was providing financial support and stability. Men were usually looked at as the leader
of the family. Also portrayed in Mona Lisa Smile was the concepts of power and resources. In the
movie, a husband is often seen as the leader in the family. In knowing that, a leader tends to take on
more responsibility and exert more power or in other words be the dominant figure in the family. As
for the concept of resources, husbands work for their family and bring in money providing financial
support. Similarly, women in the movie also show the concept of power in taking control of their life
and playing their role in society by getting an education and pursuing a family. The last concept
portrayed in the movie, Mona Lisa Smile, was the ideal family. The ideal family in the 1950 s was
breadwinner homemaker family. This ideal family was shown with a wife, husband, and children. The
husband worked to provide for his family and stay financially stable. This was shown in the movie
right after Becky got married and her husband was constantly working. As a result to Becky s husband
constantly working she begins to feel neglected and cheated, however she is pushed to remain faithful
and to serve her role as a wife and wait at home for him. This goes to show that the wife in the family

beautiful and lovely description of the daffodils portrayed in I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud helps the
reader to envision what Wordsworth saw while he was out walking. Such a description makes a reader
s imagination flow and encaptures a reader. Another story that catches a reader s attention in a similar

Throughout I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud William Wordsworth shows his relationship with nature
through his choice of diction, fantastic descriptions, and shifting mood of his poem. There are also
many words and phrases that Wordsworth included into his poem that shows how he feels about
nature. These phrases are well written, extremely descriptive, and show how Wordsworth is influenced
by the wild: I wandered lonely as a cloud , When all at once I saw a crowd, a host, of golden daffodils
, Continuous as the stars that shine and twinkle on the milky way, they stretched in never ending line
along the margin of a bay: ten thousand saw I at a glance, tossing their heads in sprightly dance , The
waves beside them danced; but they out did the sparkling waves in glee , I gazed and gazed but little
thought what wealth the show to me had brought , and For oft, when on my couch I lie in vacant or in
pensive mood, they flash upon that inward eye [...] and then my heart with pleasure fills, and dances
with the daffodils. Another phrase, which indicates that the flowers were so beautiful that no true poet
could be sad in their presence, also builds upon Wordsworth s relationship with nature. These
particular lines in I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud show how Wordsworth s mood shifts from somber
and lonely to joyous and content. The lines also show how the gorgeousness of nature sticks with

Deviance Is Socially Constructed
Deviance is any behavior that does not conform to social expectations. The statement, Deviance is
socially constructed means that because individuals that rebel against the norms of social group, and
use deviant behavior, others will join in and this creates a whole new social group. For instance, gay
marriage. This has always been considered something wrong and people shouldn t do it. Although,
people started to become deviant and say that it isn t wrong and that people should be able to love who
they so please. Now, since the summer of 2015, gay marriage has been legalized all across the nation
and all of these people fit under one social group. Deviance is relative because the rules for each group
vary, so in that case it is relative

The rich heritage of the Bible is passed down through the generations of Christians in the New
Testament as it was the Israelites in the Old Testament. These teachings are looked upon by outsiders
as simple biblical stories of old and not necessarily real life history. This leaves many with a mindset
that the Bible teachings are myths more so than even possible truths. Opening the generations of today
and yesterday up to the possibility that there are other gods that one can believe in and be just as
successful in achieving access into heaven, the afterworld of life on earth, or the favor of God and not
his wrath. However, the profits of the Old Testament teach against these very thoughts and actions of
the world. In particularly, looking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Change In The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka
Change, which is a part of nature, is inevitable. Change can range from good to bad, and oftentimes
will not be as obvious as, say, people disappearing off the face of the earth or transforming into an
insect. Even little changes can create chaos, such as a single miscalculation causing a drastically
inaccurate solution to a complicated math equation. However, the way a person reacts positive,
negative, or in between is determined primarily by the change itself.
Change can be negative, both in view of the person and the change itself. This is evident in the novel
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. In the story, the main character, named Gregor, wakes up one
morning transformed without reason into a bug. Although his whole body was changed ... Show more

Andy Goldsworthy is an artist who creates art for the sole purpose of nature changing it. For example,
he created pinecone shaped structures from rocks and allows them to become engulfed by the ocean or
hidden by plants. He explains how his art exemplifies how he wants people to view change, saying I
haven t simply made the piece to be destroyed by the sea... The work has been given to the sea as a
gift, and the sea has taken the gift and made more of it than I could have ever hoped for. Paired with
the calming yet slightly eerie soundtrack in the clip, it represents the uncertainty that comes with
change and although the feeling of anxiety can be overwhelming, you can still survive. Goldsworthy
goes on, And I think that if I can see in that way of understanding those things that happen to us in life
that changes our lives that causes upheavals and shocks... he pauses mid sentence, unable to describe
it for other people s experiences, and simply ends with I can t explain that. His art, based around this
natural change, is a metaphor for how he wants people to view change; the cones may be engulfed, but
they are still there, and in the end, it still stands.
The response to change can and will most often times will contain mixed feelings. This is the case in
Life After People by Dolores Vasquez. When humans disappear, there is chaos: wrecks from driverless
cars and planes... power plants stop providing electricity...

Margrieter Vs. New Hotel
The five elements of negligence that apply to the case of Mr. Margrieter V. New Hotel
Monteleone, Inc are Duty, breach, cause in effect, proximal cause and harm (damage suffered as a
proximal result of the defendant s breach of duty). Duty refers to an obligation one has to another
party. If duty constrains and channels behavior in a socially responsible way (Owen, 2007), then the
Hotel Menteloene has a duty to take reasonable measures to protect its guests from harm. Breach, an
improper act or omission, can also be viewed as an element that exists in this case.
The hotel did not provide adequate security, as it did not replace the security personnel that had called

The hotel uses Mr. Margrieter s lack of clear memory of the events as a defense and his inability to
return to New Orleans to identify his attackers as another defense, as he was stable enough to fly home
to Denver for a Craniotomy (brain surgery). However, it does not require much in the way of mental
capacity to take a flight on a commercial airline. A severe head injury and the subsequent
recovery period after the brain surgery are limiting enough. The lack of evidence of the two men
abducting Mr. Margrieter is perhaps the strongest argument the hotel can use. Without such evidence,
it is difficult to prove that the actions of the hotel, such as inadequate security and failure to follow
procedure in locking the freight elevator, led to Mr. Margrieter s injury. Without evidence, cause in
fact and proximal cause are hard to prove.

Essay On The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a time of great reform in ideas and knowledge. It was such an important part
of history, that it took many people and many years to fully bring it into play. This time in life was all
about change, such as the education of women, the separation of science and church, and the freedom
to learn without government censorship. Someone people were on board with the movement, but
others fought against the great ideals of Enlightenment. Although, it is sure that without the
Enlightenment, our world would be very different today, and not in a good way.
The Enlightenment was mainly seen throughout the eighteenth century, though events leading up to
and shaping the movement can be dated back to the sixteen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the 1690 s John Toland published a book titled Christianity Not Mysterious, in which he said, Why
should we have religious doctrines or dogmas at all?... Why not find a set of reasonable principles
based on nature s laws on which everyone could agree? (Jacob p42). Ideas like this had become more
common since the enlightenment, though most were not this extreme in hoping the form religious
unity.
Another change that occurred during enlightenment was the education of women. During the time of
Absolutism, women were seen as under their husband s authority and control. Women received
minimal education and if they did by chance receive a higher education, they hardly had a voice of
their own to advocate ideas. When the era of enlightenment arrived, many men started to realized the
importance and value in a woman s education. One of the major examples of what a women s
education can bring to society, was displayed through the career of Mary Wortley Montagu. Montagu
was known for taking a public stance on inoculation, practicing it on her own children and introducing
it before it became a common practice in Europe. Montagu traveled to many places in Europe and
learned from her cultural experiences. She even spoke of educational rights in Germany, She went
from city to city and decried the power of the absolutist princes over their subjects (Jacob p24). Her
work inspired many women to become educated and learn

Why College Athletes Should Get Paid And Why They Shouldn t
November 18, 2014
Ebeling 2
Intro:
How much harder would athletes work if they were paid for their performance on the field, track, or
court? College athletes are put to the test each and everyday, they risk their health to entertain millions
day in and day out. College athletes deserve part of the money due to the revenue they bring in for
their schools and for the NCAA, they deserve the money because they do not have time to get a job
because they are practicing and training at least 40 hours a week, they should also get paid because
they are used as marketing models for the ncaa and for their universities. College athletes also should
not get paid because they are already getting paid in scholarship money. College athletes deserve to
get paid because they are putting their bodies on the line just so the NCAA and their sponsors can
make money.
Lit Review:
Throughout my paper I will demonstrate many different ideas on whether college athletes should get
paid why they should not. I will talk about the things paying the athletes will do for the NCAA, how it
is unfair for athletes to be used and not get anything out of those moments, and they generate revenue
for the NCAA just on certain players presence. I will also talk about why college athletes should not
get paid. They

The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea By Yukio Mishima
How does Yukio Mishima portray Glory
The Sailor Who Fell From Grace with The Sea is a story about a 13 year old boy, Noboru who had lost
his father 5 years ago. His mother, Fusako owns a luxurious clothing store and lives a lonely life as a
widow. Noboru is part of a gang that is led by another 13 year old boy called The Chief . Instead of
referring to one another by their names, in the gang, every member is referred to as Number One,
Number Two and so forth. Noboru and the gang participates in horrible acts such as dissecting and
dismembering a cat. Everyone in the gang are nihilists, they believe they are the wisest of all and that
they are incorruptible. Led by The Chief, who grew up not having good relationships with his parents
and spent his time reading old books in his library, the gang are firm believers of tradition and follows
the Bushido code, the ways of the Samurai. The story continues with Fusako meeting a sailor, Ryuji
and they both fall in love.
Ryuji is first presented as a simple man whom also have strong traditional beliefs. However, he has
been influenced by Japan s westernization to change his social status and keep up with the rapidly
influenced Japanese society. Ryuji is a person who is pleased with his physicality, however his
personality is depicted by Mishima as unsociable and eccentric [pg 15]. This is done by Mishima to
make us feel sympathetic towards Ryuji because his loneliness makes him seem weaker although he is

The Success Of Primerica Financial Service
Primerica
We can learn a lot by analyzing, evaluating, discussing, and exploring the methods of high level
companies and their strategy to reach success. Primerica Financial Service is a company that provides
life insurance and investments that help and serve the middle income costumer with the best life
insurance. They called it term life insurance. Primerica has a different approach compared to other
companies; they want to offer the best life insurance to the costumer. Primerica s main goal is to help
other people. It is important to evaluate our own companies without bias and determinate ourselves to
reach excellence.
As a costumer, agent, and assistance manager, I can evaluate Primerica from many different
perspectives. Besides I have also worked in the company called Transamerica, rivalry of Primerica but
they are both very similar in structure.
One of the key points that we have to understand is that the majority of clients of Primerica are middle
income costumers. This means the majority of people don t have a financial knowledge and they don t
have a culture of life insurance habits. Another key point is that agents in Primerica have to have a
license to be able to work as financial advisors, but the majority of them never went to the university
to get some level of financial knowledge.
Primerica is an organization with a MLM (multilevel marketing) strategy. This keeps their employees
motivated and gives them the opportunity to manage their own success. Instead

  • 2. Rosalind Franklin Contributions You look at science (or at least talk of it) as some sort of demoralizing invention of man, something apart from real life, and which must be cautiously guarded and kept separate from everyday existence. But science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated. Said Rosalind Franklin, one of the greatest female scientists, in a letter to her father. Franklin is saying that science should not be interfered by human civilization, but human civilization needs and relies on science. This is significant because Franklin discovered so much for the human race through science, hence what she said, science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated. Though many might not recognize her name, Rosalind Franklin changed the world of biology forever. Born on July 25, 1920 in Notting Hill, London, to a family that was jewish, but she believed in no such thing. Rosalind Franklin was a very intelligent child; she excelled in school always ahed of where she was supposed to be. By the time Franklin was fifteen she already knew she wanted to be a scientist. She was taught at North London Collegiate school and went to college at Newnham Collage where she studied chemistry. Moving on, Rosalind Franklin, was best know for discovering the structure of DNA, but what most do not know she was did much more. For example, she studied coal utilization, and x ray diffraction. She actually was the teacher and mentor for Raymond Gosling who created the first visible x ray photo. With ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Work Rate and Oxygen Uptake The Relationship Between Work Rate And Oxygen Uptake During Incremental Submaximal Exercise Introduction Oxygen uptake () describes the rate at which oxygen is utilized by tissues (Burton et al, 2004). is determined by heart rate (heart beats each minute), stroke volume (the volume of blood pumped from one ventricle each beat) and arteriovenous oxygen difference (difference in blood oxygen content between arterial and venous blood). Oxygen is needed for respiration, the chemical process that produces energy in the form of ATP. Several sources agree that oxygen uptake increases linearly with exercise, this is due to the skeletal muscles requirement for more oxygen for the production of more ATP. Hanson et al (1998) measured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the participant in this trial to sustain 60rpm, their muscles must produce progressively more force after each increment, as 0.5kg resistance is applied to the flywheel each time, therefore the energy demands of the muscle progressively increase. A deviation from the trend during the middle of the trial was not expected as most sources agree the relationship is linear (Burton, Özyener, Glassford), however Astrand (1961) found a non linear steeper increase in during the middle stages. Astrand s non linear pattern may be explained by production of power increasing to a point beyond the lactate threshold, the point at which lactic acid starts to accumulate in the blood. A slowly developing increase in during constant work rate exercise performed above the lactate threshold produces a curvilinear relationship and is known as the slow component of kinetics (Jones et al, 2011). The cause for the steep increase at the final stage of the trial is supported by the research of Bernard et al (1996), who measured the effects of increasing exercise intensities recording oxygen consumption and heart rate simultaneously. Findings revealed a significant correlation with the best predictions of from work rate observed at higher intensities. Bernard s findings support results in table 1 that ... • 4. Summary and Analysis of The Parson s Tale Essay Summary and Analysis of The Parson s Tale (The Canterbury Tales) Prologue to the Parson s Tale: When the Manciple s Tale was done, it was then four o clock. The Host claimed that only one tale remained. The Parson, however, refused to tell a foolish story, for Paul advised against telling false stories. He says that he will tell a virtuous tale in prose. The Parson s Tale: There have been many spiritual ways that have led people to Jesus Christ and to the reign of glory. The most prominent of these ways is Penitence. St. Ambrose claims that Penitence is the acceptance of guilt for what a man has done and a pledge to do no more. Perfect Penitence requires contrition of heart, confession of mouth and satisfaction. The root of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sixth, a man should hope to forfeit sin and receive the gift of grace and the glory of heaven. This contrition should be universal. The second part of Penitence is confession, the sign of contrition. Confession is the showing of all sins to a priest. All sins stem from the original sin of Adam, and there are two types, venial sins and sins of deed. The latter occur when a man loves any creature more than Jesus. Venial sins occur when a man loves Jesus Christ less than he ought. There are seven deadly sins. Pride is the worst of them, for the other sins, Ire, Envy, Sloth, Avarice, Gluttony and Lechery, stem from Pride. Pride can be manifest in many forms, including the wearing of ostentatious clothing. The remedy for Pride is humility, when a man holds himself as not worthy of heaven, despises no other man and cares not what men think of him. Envy is the sorrow in others fortune and delight in others pain. The remedy for Envy is love of God first and trust in one s fellow man. After Envy there is Ire, which manifests itself in hate. The remedy against Ire is patience and the acceptance of suffering. Sloth is the anguish of a troubled heart. The remedy for this is fortitude. Avarice is the desire to have earthly things. Avarice can be distinguished from Envy, for Envy is to covet things that one does not have, while Avarice is to keep things that one has without rightful need. The remedy for Avarice is pity. Gluttony is the immeasurable appetite to eat or drink. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thesis Statement On Job Satisfaction Pearson and Seiler (1983) found in their research on 336 faculty members from 24 universities in Unites States, predictors for job satisfaction were tenure, teaching load, gender, institution type as in private or public, and age. Salary and ranking on the other hand surprising did not play a big role in influencing perceived job satisfaction. In comparison, it was found that those in professional colleges reported higher job satisfaction than those in general college. Those who reported higher job satisfaction were those with higher salaries, lower teaching loads, and speedier promotion rate. According to Olsen, work stress or job related stress were related to time management conflicts, compensation issues such as salary, feedback and job security. The level of job stress will play a role in determining job satisfaction level as suggested by the research done by Usman and colleagues in Punjab in 2011. The researchers posited that the higher work stress experienced by the faculty members, the lower will be their satisfaction with their job. High job stress will also lead to lower organizational commitment (Usman, Ahmed, Ahmed, Akbar, 2011). The researchers suggested that by minimizing role ambiguity, it will directly reduce the role stress experience by the teaching members and indirectly lower job stress as a whole. Thompson and Dey (1998) found that sources of stress for African American college and university faculty were time constraints, promotion concerns, and overall stress. Thompson and Dey also found that stress regardless of sources negatively affecting job satisfaction. The most prominent evidence in the researchers finding was the negative effect of stress in regarding of promotion towards the level of job satisfaction. In fact the researchers found that the more stress the respondents were about promotion, the least satisfied they were about aspects such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Photography Pre-College Essay Many people can pinpoint the exact moment that influences them to follow a certain life path. For me, going to college in New York and becoming a photographer has been an innate part of my life. I entered my first photography competition in the third grade and have been lusting over the big city longer than anyone can remember. Although I am unsure where this plan stemmed from, everything in my life has been geared towards this goal. This past summer, I participated in a three week photography pre college program in Manhattan. Although I had been to New York once before, living on my own and seeing the city from the perspective of a college student has strengthened my belief that New York is where I belong. The first event was the Vision of the Cross where Constantine saw a trophy of a cross in the sky with the inscription CONQUER BY THIS . • 10. Marriage and Twelfth Night At the end of Shakespeare s comedic plays all complications and disorders are resolved and a new order is generated to the satisfaction of the audience. to what extent is this true of Shakespeare s Twelfth Night? It is easily argued that Shakespeare s comedic plays have a similar, formulaic, structure. Dr Schwartz from the California Polytechnic State University argues that the action of a comedy traces a movement from conflict to the resolution of conflict . There are many disorders and complications in each plot, which by the end of the play must be resolved for the satisfaction of the Elizabethan audience, and in some perspectives, this applies to the modern day audience as well. Twelfth Night poses many different arguments as to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Antonio is a character whom it could be argued does not receive a happy ending. It is easily identified by particularly modern audiences, that Antonio is a character who may have homosexual desires. The language used in: my desire, more sharp than steel, did spur me on could be interpreted as rather lustful especially the words sharper than steel which suggests sexual imagery. This circumstance of mistaken identity, when Antonio is in trouble and mistakes Cesario for Sebastian, for some audiences leans more towards tragedy than comedy because the consequences are more severe. We see how betrayed Antonio feels in the line how vile an idol proves his god! Antonio worshipped Sebastian like an idol, and relieved him with such sanctity of love , only to discover he is the beauteous evil . The audience may feel pity towards Antonio; this is something they will want resolved. It can be argued this does happen when Sebastian returns. This may have been a good enough resolution for an Elizabethan audience, as many of them will have had no desire to see a homosexual pairing, and perhaps Sebastian s marriage to Olivia would leave them satisfied that no homoerotic acts occur. • 11. Pros And Cons Of Space Race Do We Need Another Space Race? The possibility of a second space race has grown stronger than ever recently. After the launch of the most affordable and the second most powerful rocket of all time, the Falcon Heavy by SpaceX, the subject has been given new life. Following the successful launch, Elon Musk, the head of SpaceX, stated that he wants to start a second space race. Already, his wish has started coming true. After only a week after the first launch, many other companies have already stated their own plans for rocket launches and development. However, throughout all the excitement and speculations, people are forgetting to ask an important question: do we even need another space race? The original space race took place from the estimated years of 1957 all the way through 1975, starting with the launch of the first man made satellite, the Sputnik I, and ending with the Apollo Soyuz mission, which contained a Soviet cosmonaut and an American astronaut shaking hands in outer space, closing off the space race with a rather symbolic ending. • 12. Analysis Of Guests Of The Nation Kathleen Meserve Mr. Dalvet AP Literature and Composition 10 / 25 / 2017 CREATIVE TITLE Frank O Connor s Guests of the Nation is an ironic and tragic short story of two Englishmen who are held captive as collateral during the Irish War of Independence. Belcher and Hawkins are friendly hostages they frequently argue, play cards, and discuss politics and religion with their Irish captors, Bonaparte and Noble. They behave as if they are unaware of the armed conflict that surrounds them. The shooting of Belcher is climactic in that O Connor forces the reader to consider the main theme: in war, everybody has to do his or her duty, so Bonaparte and Noble are unable to prioritize their friendship. Frank O Connor condemns the concept of nationalism expressing a camaraderie among the characters preceding the Englishmen s deaths to help them to cope with an adverse situation that is foreign to all of them. CHANGE THESIS! But how... In the heat of a war, one would anticipate animosity or turmoil between the nations, not card games and banter about the afterlife and about capitalism. Instead, the four soldiers coexist peacefully, possess similar ideas regarding the war, and even consider each other chums. Excluding Donovan, the men share a common preconception towards nationalism; the hostages final moments include a plea for life right before Hawkins is shot, he says to Bonaparte: You won t come over to my side, so I ll come over to your side. • 14. The Legacy Of Hip Hop And Rap, And Its Release Changed The... The son of a professor raised in a middle class suburb, Kanye West was never supposed to be a rapper. West was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 8th divorced when he was three, he moved with his mother to Chicago. His mom worked as the chair of the English Department at the nearby Chicago State University, and Kanye grew up in relative comfort in a nicer suburb of Chicago. West became fascinated with music at a young age, eventually leading him to drop out of college to pursue it full time. His first two albums, The College Dropout and Late Registration established himself as a premier player in the rap game, as well as paved the way for his third album, Graduation. Released in September of 2007, Graduation was very well received by critics and the general public alike, but its importance goes much further than simply sounding appealing. Graduation epitomizes the changing landscape of hip hop and rap, and its release changed the rap industry into what it is today. In the fall of 2002, Kanye West suffered a near fatal car crash that would change his life forever. The crash left him with a shattered jaw that need to be wired shut, and a whole new perspective to work from. Prior to this, West had been trying for years to secure a rap contract, but labels refused to give him a chance. He had rose to prominence as a beat maker, particularly through his work on Jay Z s most iconic album, The Blueprint, but many in the music industry did not believe he ... How is health defined within and between cultures? Is there a universal definition of health and if so who gets to create said definition. As I become more and more involved in this idea of health I found it to be socially constructed depending on the culture on belongs too. Which got me thinking how does one s social economic status influence an individual s health. Is there a massive gap between individuals of more marginalized group compared to the majority when socio economic status is involved? How about taking a look at individuals who have approximately the same financial income and live in different areas of a specific town, or state so comparing urban areas to suburban areas. Also looking to see if individuals of lesser socioeconomic have in general poorer health if so then why. I personally believe that there will be a huge disparity between individuals who have a higher socioeconomic status compared to those who make a lot less. Before Alzheimer s big break through, the majority of the community correlated dementia and age as a natural. The connotation of the term senile implied old age or progression of age. It wasn t until the late 1970s where neurological studies boomed and credited Alzheimer s as an accepted disease. Later as a result, the Alzheimer s Association was created in 1985. Thirdly, I will need to specify which tactics will be used to influence my audience. Finally, I will write the memo that I plan on submitting to my audience. 1. Request: The industry of construction is an industry where you have to be precise and very accurate. This is why I will be requesting that the superiors in my company purchase a piece of software Chief Architect and revert from using their current software Sketch up . This task will require persuasion because the owners of the company think that using open source software like Sketch up will be sufficient. The company has been using Sketch up for over five years and their thought process is that its free, it works, and there is no need to pay for other software. One of the designers and architects at the firm has tried to ask for this software in the past and the bosses turned the idea down because the software was too expensive. The designer didn t provide any evidence or provided little logic for his argument, which is why he was unsuccessful in influencing the superiors. Meno And Socrates Socratic Paradox In Plato s work The Meno , a socratic dialogue attempting to define virtue, chapters 77b 79e outline the Socratic Paradox, which focuses on the question of whether or not one can desire bad things. Plato outlines this through a dialogue between his character Meno and Socrates. The Socratic Paradox claims that no one desires bad things, i.e. no one desires things that are bad for them. Socrates claimed that to possess bad things would leave someone miserable and unhappy. One that desires bad things simply desires them because they think they are good. There are some implications to this claim. If Plato is correct that we cannot knowingly do something that harms us, or that we cannot do an action knowing that it will harm us in the long term, ... Suppose someone is on a certain kind of medication that requires them to not drink alcohol otherwise the medication will not work and they will be in great pain. They are completely aware of this and know that if they drink they will be miserable and wretched . Meno thinks it is quite possible for a person to want to drink regardless of this knowledge. Socrates would be determined to argue that if you know something is bad overall you cannot desire it. Although I see the conclusion Scott is trying to point to, I feel that his example is fairly weak as one could interpret Socrates as saying that someone who is completely rational cannot desire things that are bad for them. However I would claim that even this can be counteracted: surely even the most intelligent and rational people can want to drink and smoke? Therefore, I would claim that what Plato is trying to point out in the Meno is somewhat simplistic and needs to be looked at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The people of the US still vote for these officials with the hope that these people will represent the interest and goals of the larger population. Even if that means arguing and having many negotiations, that s how people believe things get done in Congress. Negotiation is key along with the tactics used in this process to even start passing or creating a bill in Congress. Both principled negotiation tactics along with others are used to create movement depending on the situation. Negotiation is a discussion aimed at making an agreement (Fisher, Ury, Patton, 2011, p. 10). People use negotiation every day and in almost any situation where they want something else from someone.
