4. Who would your
audience be and why?
Target Audience

My target audience is
teenagers/young
adults that are
categorized into the
indie sub culture. They
are very much involved
with listening and
making music. They
are of the working
class who surround
and value their friends
and live in the ‘now’.
age

My target age would be between 16
and 20 because this is the age at
which I find people to be highly
interested and involved with music
and the music scene itself. This is the
age at which many will be going to
underrated gigs of upcoming band in
small rooms, unfazed by mixing with
other ages whilst enjoying the live
music.
Social Class

The working class: I think that the
working class is my ideal audience. The
working class tend to look for and relate
to music in a way that others from a
higher class might not; getting more
involved in the music itself. They are
able to buy things such as magazines
with their deposable money and with
my magazine coming in at no more
than £2, it would be the perfect amount
to spend freely.
Gender

Male and Female. I didn’t want
my magazine to be gender bias
so I ensured that it appealed to
both males and females; this
way I have a wider audience and
a bigger scope to work with.
Both genders are very much
involved with the music scene
between the ages of 16 and 20 so
it was only ideal to make my
magazine suitable for both.
Ethnicity

My magazine is open for anyone
who is willing to buy it, however, I
am aware that the indie genre is
and can be mainly made up of the
white, Caucasian population, I
think this is reflected by the
images I have used, all being of
white caucasian teens. Other than
the images my magazine does
show or reflect any other specific
ethnicities.
