Don T Like Meme
Immediately after the publicizing of the so called ban, participants across the internet made memes
commenting on this turn of events. Russians responded primarily through memes that tangentially
referred to the ban without targeting any particular figure (Figure 3). Most prominent was a screen
capture from Back to the Future II where Marty tells Doc Brown they must return to the past. Brown
replies that this is impossible because The past has been blocked by @roscomnadzor. Engaging in a
typical function of memes, the image serves as a commonplace whereby the facial affect (as well as an
intertextual reference to the film character) serves to impose Brown s general incredulity onto this turn
of events. @RUNetMEmes also reposted a Reddit thread which listed a series of Russian theme puns,
accompanied by the line this post is illegal in Russia. Both these memes avoid the ... Show more

The majority of these memes intertextually linked Putin to more popular internet memes (Figure 4).
One meme put the backward hat of Scumbag Steve, with the text I Don t Like Meme//So I outlaw
them. Another showed Rare Pepe, an image of a frog used to mock the claims of rare web images,
distributing memes from inside a trench coat. Borrowing from the larger ethos of the memes, these
iterations argue an effort to regulate discourse on the internet is fruitless as the restrictions will anger
users, who would view Putin as a scumbag and promote further circulation evidenced by Pepe
promising a new black market. Even the previously circulating Putin based meme Give that Man a
Cookie joined the commentary, proclaiming, Give that meme maker life imprisonment. This iteration
highlights that Putin s very nature is authoritarian, as his first response to criticism is imprisonment,
framing the anti meme clarification as another example of the non democratic reality of Russian

Moving To Mexico Research Paper
Imagine waking up to a beautiful view every day, without a care in the world about the expenses of
life, but instead enjoying the perfect weather that makes life just that easier. This would be the perfect
description for the beautiful land of Mexico, that has proven itself to be one of the finest places to live
in. This country would be one of the top three locations people would consider moving to when they
no longer find their way of living in their country to be worthwhile. They are not only attracted to the
great climate, but the affordable cost of living and job opportunities that are offered to them. Most

On the website Expat Info Desk, an article titled Living in Mexico: A Guide to Moving to Mexico as
an Expat gives people who are considering moving from their country a gist of what it is like to live in
Mexico. Allegedly, one of the most beneficial factors in moving to Mexico is the difference in
currency, that allows middle class Americans to enjoy a high standard of living with lower prices for
basic necessities such as grocery items (Living in Mexico). The drastic difference between a US
Dollar and a Mexican Peso allow young families to adapt to the lifestyle in Mexico easily with only a
small amount of saved up money. Another factor that families focus on when moving is what city to
settle in and how expensive housing will be in those locations. Although places like Mexico City are
far more expensive than other towns and cities, for the most part housing in Mexico is relatively
cheap, in comparison making moderately sized properties the same amount as a small clustered
property in the United States (Living in Mexico). This alone becomes specifically beneficial to
Americans who never get to enjoy luxury time to themselves, or work all day throughout the week to
live a barely lived life, which could all change by moving to a new country. Not only is moving to
Mexico a stable place to start a new life, but a constant vacation with all of the easily accessible

The Futurist Movement Of Art
The Futurist movement of art has been regarded as a movement of artistic rupture. It was the rupture
of the already existing genres and verse forms, categories such as prose and verse , and also
phenomena s like art and life were put to question [ ]. Futurism brought about the first collages and the
different forms of the arts such as poetry, painting music and theater had started to be brought together
into something new [ ]. Development in the movement of futurism brought about what we refer to
today as Cubo Futurism, which originated in 1913. This movement brought together important figures
such as Kazimir Malevich, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Vassily Kamensky, Alexei Kruchenykh, Veliinir,
Khlebnikov and Benedikt Livshits along with the artist David Burliuk, to form a new art genre that
linked the works of Russian futurist poets and artists. The merging of the visual and the verbal
elements have constituted much of current art historical interpretation of this period of Russian Art [ ].
The merging of these different elements was inspired by the newly invented expression of the
transrational language of zaum which was the essence of Cubo Futurism. The direct translation of the
word zaum is beyond the mind , which was used to elaborate Russian Futurist s rejection of
conventional logic. Instead they worked to somehow create a new language that went beyond the
conventional meanings and instead rediscovered language as a powerful creative force that has been

Dear White People Film Analysis
In 1964, the Civil Rights Act was enacted by the 88th United States Congress, outlawing any
discrimination in the United States. With the Civil Rights Act, and the election America s first Black
president Barack Obama, in 2008, America was gradually becoming a post racial society after a long
history of racism that dates back to the 17th century. History, in conjunction with current events,
exposes how America, the land of the free and the home of the brave is nowhere near a post racial
society because of white privilege, a broken system, and a new form of slavery; all created by the
majority of the United States. The white population of the United States is 62.6% of the nation s total
population, therefore we are part of a nation that is controlled by white people. Because they make up
a big percentage of this nation, they control the system and institutions, and set it up in a way that only
they get to benefit from. People of color, make up part of what is called the minority or the problem of
America. In comparison to a white person, people of color are not granted the same opportunities or
advantages, even when they meet the qualifications to certain things. In the film Dear White People,

The Mayans of Mesoamerica
The ancient Mayans were a very well developed society with a very accurate calendar, skilled
architects, artisans, extensive traders and hunters. They are known to have developed medicine and
astronomy as well. All of this was developed while the Europeans were still in the Dark Ages.
Their empire covered an area of roughly 400,000 to 500,000 square kilometers. This area included the
present day countries of Belize, Guatemala, western Honduras and El Salvador, and also southern
portions of Mexico. These lands have a very diverse terrain, from the mountainous highlands to the

The Maya civilization can be divided into three main periods: Pre Classic, Classic, and Post Classic.
Their greatest accomplishments most likely took place in the Classic period. This period occurred
between 250 and 910AD. An extensive trade network was in place during this period that allowed the
civilization to grow as large as sixty separate kingdoms. Other technological advances also took place
during this time.
They developed their writing system, mathematics, astronomy, and calendars. Their study of
astronomy allowed them to predict when there would be a solar or lunar eclipse. They also developed
their calendar that is called the Long Count Calendar. The Long Count Calendar was not completely a
Mayan creation because they inherited the basic form from the Toltec.
The mathematics developed by the Maya was a base 20 numbering system. This is similar to the base
10 system we use today. The Maya were able to do this using only three symbols, the dot, the bar, and
a symbol for zero.
The numbering system was written vertically instead of horizontally like the one we use today. The
base level can be represented by 20^0, and each additional level increases the exponent by one. This is
shown in the graphic below.
The Mayan calendar has a starting date of 3113BC that is given the year 0. It used their base 20
numbering system to represent periods of time. There

Green Eggs And Ham Analysis
Green Eggs and Ham is a short fiction story by the legendary children s book author Dr. Seuss in
which a very persistent Sam I Am repeatedly asks his unnamed friend, in multiple different ways if his
friend would like some ham accompanied by, of all things on earth, green eggs. As the story begins,
Sam s friend is uncooperative. He tells Sam I Am that he would not them in a box (Seuss,23) or a

Effects of Cartoon on Children
Effects of cartoons on children
INtroDucTioN:Cartoons have been a staple of childhood development since the early 20th century.
Two thirds of infants and toddlers watch an average of two hours of television a day, according to a
recent study. While watching cartoons, a child s brain processes graphic images, educational
information and violent acts. These brain stimulating factors have both positive and negative effects
on children s development. Cartoons are the most frequent and easily accessible source of
entertainment which we provide to our children. With the vastness of media and extension of
channels, it has become easier for children to watch their favorite cartoons on a single click and at the

Regardless of the effects, children must have a balanced lifestyle that includes exercise and outdoor
activity.
Violence
* Many cartoons depict scenes of violence or danger, yet whitewash the effects of that violence. For
instance, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle may beat up a bad guy in one scene, only to see that bad guy
appear unharmed in the next scene. Without proper lessons to counterbalance those effects, children
may grow up aggressive and eager to engage in violence unaware that the real world contains far more
consequences than what a TV show depicts.
Injury
In 2004, Dr. Ruebert Saturnine III presented an argument on the negative effects of cartoons on
children for the Animation World Network, Inc. One of Saturnine s criticisms focused on copycat
incidents where children injured themselves by trying to imitate fictional characters. The first case of a
cartoon related lawsuit occurred in 1928, when a small boy, Dickie Johnson, took his family s yacht
out on a lake as he tried to replicate a cartoon sea captain. Dickie crashed the boat and his family filed
a case against Walt Disney on charges of corrupting a minor. During the trial, Dickie testified and
stated, I thought if a lowly, common mouse could drive a boat, surely I could, too. Saturnine stated
that cases of cartoon related injuries increased steadily each year

Developmental Stages And Theories From Birth From Adolescence
Developmental Stages and Theories from Birth to Adolescence
Neurological Development
According to the Urban Child Institute, the first three years of development are a crucial time for brain
development. The human nervous system starts to develop at around day eighteen after conception
(Carlson, 2014, p. 55). The brain stem is vital to instinctive functions, such as reflexes, breathing, and
heart rate (Urban Child Institute , 2016). These are functions in the body that just happen without
thinking about doing anything. The cerebrum is a large portion of the brain, which connects the
cerebellum to the brain stem (Urban Child Institute , 2016). This part of the brain is where complex
processes like memory and learning take place. The exterior of the cerebrum is the cerebral cortex,
this part is not fully developed until adulthood and this is where sophisticated activities, such as
planning and decision making are taking place (Urban Child Institute , 2016).
The brain is also broken into four smaller pieces called lobes, they are the occipital lobe, parietal lobe,
temporal lobe, and frontal lobe. The occipital lobe is in the back of the brain and is in charge of vision.
The parietal lobe is related to bodily sensations such as your body temperature, pressure and pain
(Urban Child Institute , 2016). The temporal lobe is intricate to hearing, language skills, social
understanding, and observations of people s eyes and faces (Urban Child Institute , 2016). The frontal
lobe is

Essay “Infidel”
About two years ago I read Ayaan Hirsi Ali s memoir Infidel and was immensely moved by her story,
especially the atrocities she went through in her childhood in Africa and the way she struggled to flee
from an oppressive life. At that time, I could not imagine that anyone (except fanatic Muslims), let
alone victims of the same oppression that she was, would not share her feelings and views. However,
the reading of Ian Buruma s Murder in Amsterdam sheds light on bigger and obscure components of
this story, which clearly influenced some people to disapprove her behavior even Islamic women. Like

As a child, he was eccentric, provocative, and hard to deal with, said his mother, and as an adult he

The beginning of this new jazz age sparked a time of immense change, changes that gave this decade a

social and cultural changes, new literature and authors emerging, and the economy on the brink of
greatness.
This time period brought significant changes in lifestyle and culture. Social and cultural innovations

The United States economy prospered during the war, factories became very efficient. They made
weapons and turned out supplies for the war. After the fighting ended, the same factories began
making peace time products. (Corrigan 6) Before the war, many jobs were confined to either farms or
handyman jobs. With the demand of wartime products such as guns, ammunition, and uniforms,
factories provided americans with millions of jobs. Young, old, skilled, and unskilled, were working
long hours in these factories; and they were working for little or no pay. As well as these factories
providing jobs for Americans, they also provided jobs to the millions of immigrants, who also worked
for little to no pay. Also due to the improvement of technology, came the invention of the assembly
line which brought mass production and jobs. Washing machines, microwaves, radios, and
automobiles were some of many of the new modern conveniences. The rich became much richer
during this decade, but many poor people did not benefit at all from the country s growth. (Corrigan 6)
The social classes stayed the same, this was a result of the new American Dream . The wealthy began
to be driven by wealth and money. The two upper classes split into two: ones with new money, and
those with old. Those with old money usually inherited it in the form of land, investments, or money.

Veterans Day Research Paper
Whether it is in an office, on a battlefield, or at a switchboard, it takes a hero to be a veteran. Bravery
and patriotism are characteristics of veterans. Veterans Day was created to honor all people who have
served, fought, and died for our country and our freedom. People who served in the military and gave
their services, risked their lives, and lost their lives for us are all veterans: They deserve our thanks.
When people think of veterans, a word that might come to their mind would be hero. Soldiers leave
their homes, families, and friends to fight for our country and the freedom we believe in so strongly. If
a brother, cousin, uncle, or friend gets killed during a battle, veterans keep going. They need to wait
until a later time to grieve, cry, and mourn their lost companions. Soldiers endure loss, blistering cold,
scorching heat, trench foot, and more. This is what makes up a true hero. ... Show more content on

Rip Van Winkle Allegory
Washington Irving s story of Rip Van Winkle is an allegory of the American Revolutionary War and
the formation of a new nation. Just as Rip Van Winkle struggled to find his freedom and identity, the
new nation also struggled to find their own freedom and identity. In this story, the character of Rip Van
Winkle represents the colonies, Dame Van Winkle represents England, and the villagers represent the
American citizens. Irving contrasts conditions before and after the Revolutionary War, and concludes
that since obtaining freedom from England, the citizens of America are more prosperous and engaged
in government as they search for a new identity in the formation of a new nation. Rip Van Winkle, just
like the colonies, was viewed by others ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He immediately notices the difference in a once dry gully that had changed into a mountain stream
was now foaming down it, leaping from rock to rock, and filling the glen with babbling murmurs (49).
This foretells of a fuller, better life than the old one. Although Rip s house was abandoned and in ruins
and his wife was dead, the village was larger, with more people and houses. This indicates that the
new nation without England s authority was more prosperous, even though some aspects were ruined
in the process of war. Irving writes, The very character of the people seemed changed. There was a
busy, bustling, disputatious tone about it, instead of the accustomed phlegm and drowsy tranquility
(51). Some readers may argue that the new nation is not as good as the colonies because life is faster
paced and people are more involved rather than a more relaxed society, however life is more lively
and full. There is more ambition and interest in life and government, as opposed to the apathy that
existed before the revolution. While no longer tranquil, there was more engagement from the citizens.
Instead of old newspapers, men were talking about citizen s rights and elections. Instead of idle
speeches, Rip found a man ....haranguing vehemently about rights of citizens elections members of

to what might possess a person to go out and commit such a heinous crime. Indeed, the question has
dogged the American populace ever since the invention of the modern mass shooting, and even before,
attached to other senseless violent atrocities. Human brains are wired to look for causality in
meaningless events as a survival mechanism, so they have a tendency to find it in places where it
actually never existed in the first place. This is why violence in television and video games has come
under fire in recent years as their influence expands, despite evidence that such phony violence does
not beget real violence and may, in fact, be beneficial to a person s well being.
Firstly, it should be noted that the studies people often cite when attempting to prove media violence
has negative effects on behavior are flawed and inconsistent. In a review of publications on the subject
conducted by psychologist Jonathan L. Freedman, he found that of the 2,500 publications, there were
only 200 pieces of non duplicated research among them, stemming from places of varying scientific
legitimacy. The ways in which many of these studies are conducted can lead to skewed results in favor
of the hypothesis the researchers want to prove. When studying how violent media consumption

A Note On Macro, Micro Evolution There Is Important For...
First off, when talk about macro, micro evolution there is much falsehood about these two words, but,
understanding them is maybe the vital essential for comprehension the creation or development issue.
Macroevolution alludes to major developmental changes after some time, the inception of new sorts of
creatures from beforehand existing, yet distinctive, tribal sorts. On the other hand, Microevolution
alludes to assortments inside of a given sort. Change happens inside of a gathering, however the
relative is unmistakably of the same sort as the precursor.
According to Berkeley.edu, Macroevolution generally refers to evolution above the species level. So
instead of focusing on an individual beetle species, a macroevolutionary lens might require that we
zoom out on the tree of life, to assess the diversity of the entire beetle clade and its position on the
tree. Macroevolution includes the most amazing patterns and changes in development, for example,
the beginning of warm blooded animals and the radiation of blooming plants. Macro evolutionary
examples are by and large what we see when we take a gander at the substantial scale history of life. It
is not as a matter of course simple to see macro evolutionary history; there are no firsthand records to
be perused. Rather, we reproduce the historical backdrop of life utilizing all accessible confirmation:
geography, fossils, and living beings.

Archaeology And Its Impact On Archaeology
Archaeology plays a very significant role in anthropology because archaeology is defined as being the
study of human history and prehistory via the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts and other
physical remains. The term Archaeology is used to describe the discovery and research of societies
and individuals. Archeological sites differ around the world and their methods of excavation and
reporting often fluctuate. Because of these fluctuations, one needs to review and rank archaeological
sites based on their quality of work, potential for public use, threatened nature, and heritage
importance throughout this paper. Three specific examples of archeological projects that are discussed
thoroughly in this paper are the sites at Caracol, The Hungarian Plane, and Jamestown. Caracol, a
Mayan archaeological site located in Belize, was larger and more populated than the modern day
Belize City, which is the largest city in Belize, and the archaeological study was begun to better
understand the massive Mayan City of Caracol. The term Caracol means shell in Spanish, and it refers
to the logging road that provided access to the site when it was first discovered. Early excavators
explored only the epicenters in the beginning, but as exploration continued, citizens and researchers
started finding multiple tombs outside of the epicenter. The Mynan site was much larger than
anticipated; therefore, the excavation expanded. A goal of the assignment was to learn as much as

In Ancient Greece, bankruptcy did not exist. If a man owed and he could not pay, he and his wife,
children or servants were forced into debt slavery , until the creditor recouped losses via their physical
labour. Many city states in ancient Greece limited debt slavery to a period of five years and debt slaves
had protection of life and limb, which regular slaves did not enjoy. However, servants of the debtor
could be retained beyond that deadline by the creditor and were often forced to serve their new lord
for a lifetime, usually under significantly harsher conditions.

The Joint Stock Companies Act 1844[9] allowed people to create companies without permission
through a royal charter. Companies had separate legal personality , the ability to sue and be sued, and
served as an easy mechanism for raising capital through the purchase of shares (an equitable title) in
the company s capital. The Act s corollary, to bring the existence of these legal persons to an end was
the Joint Stock Companies Winding Up Act 1844. The Limited Liability Act 1855 produced a further
innovation. Before, if a corporation had gone broke, the people that lent it money (creditors) could sue
all the shareholders to pay off the company s debts. But the 1855 Act said that shareholders liability
would be limited to the amount they had paid in their shares. So if you had invested £100 in a
company, but now the company owed millions of pounds, the creditors could not come after you for
the debts. You would lose £100 and no more. Your liability to pay debts was limited to the value of
your shares. The Joint Stock Companies Act 1856 consolidated the companies legislation in one, and
the modern law of corporate insolvency was born. Finally, the Bankruptcy Act 1869 was passed
allowing all people, rather than just traders to file for bankruptcy.

A River Runs Through Us Essay
A River Runs Through Us 1. The Anacostia River is a metaphor for the way poor people and
minorities are treated (Hoover). In 1994, the Anacostia River was fourth on the list of American
Rivers Most Endangered Rivers (Rynor). Since the late 19 th century the water quality in this river has
slowly declined with the onset of urbanization and industrialization and the pollution that accompanies
this growth. The Anacostia is severely polluted with sediment, nutrients, pathogens, toxins, and trash (
Cleaning ). And it is no coincidence that the river runs through some of Washington D.C. s poorest
communities in the south eastern sections of the city.

The north west sections of town contribute to most of the pollution plaguing the Anacostia River.
4. One resident of Anacostia said he has seen used hypodermic needles washing up along the shoreline
and ducks so thick on the water that it looked as if he could walk across their backs to the other side
(Lee). The ducks he describes have died as a result of the extreme pollution. This description shows
the dangerous effects of the pollution and the fact that it is killing the river s wildlife as well as
endangering residents. It is unsafe for residents of the area to swim or fish in the river because of its
extreme pollution and health risks. Recently, there have been signs posted along the river which warn
residents of the hazardous waters. However, for many years the pollution of the Anacostia River was
Washington s dirty little secret (Cohn, Warnings ) and there were no signs warning people of the
pollution.
5. The fact that the Anacostia River is Washington s dirty little secret reflects the attitude of the rest of
the city towards Anacostia. A great majority of the District prefers to ignore the underlying problems
faced by Anacostia; this ignorance is reflected in the condition of the river running through its
demolished communities. This area east of the river is unanimously known as one of the poorest and
most dangerous areas of the city. The fact that city is able to keep Anacostia hidden from the rest of

In an agreement there must be a meeting of the minds, which indicates mutual assent by both parties.
There is no meeting of the minds when one side (PepsiCo) is obviously joking.
Another issue, which was the case in court, is that John Leonard s understanding of this commercial as
an offer must also be rejected because the New York Court found out that no objective person (while
Mr. Leonard is a subjective person) could reasonably have concluded that the commercial actually
offered consumers a Harrier Jet. In a basic rule of contracts mentioned, that whether an offer has been
made depends on the objective reasonableness of the alleged offeree s belief that the advertisement or
solicitation was intended as an offer. Reasonable Person Standard based on common rules, and in
relation to society is an objective, so according to this standard if it is clear that an offer was not
serious, then no offer has been made.
In this case objective reasonable standard notes only how resonable persons behave, and what their
reaction. While seriousness determines whether, in our case commercial, is real and serious, and may
be perceived as an offer. As it was mentioned before, PepsiCo s commercial had no offer, and
advertising are not serious. Moreover the Court found this television commercial an absurd. Any

Benefits Of Raising Minimum Wage
Creating jobs, raising minimum wage, donating to the poor are not going to erase the poverty out of
the United States of America. The government defines poverty as the bottom fifteen percent of annual
income. No matter what one does to increase a person s income there will always be someone in
poverty. Across America there are always charities, religious groups, and civic clubs who are giving to
the poor from food giveaways, clothing giveaways, free tutoring, free health screenings, whatever else
there is constantly something for the poor to benefit from. The problem is that people want to help, but
if they are constantly giving the needy these items, services, or money, then are the poor becoming

If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime ( Chinese par. 1). This ancient proverb has some
truth in it. Right now in America, the poor are not being taught how to fish instead they are relying on
charities to give away food and clothing for them to survive. Through work readiness programs and a
reform in food and clothing distribution, charities can cut the parasite of the dependent poor and
prepare them to go out and earn what they need. Job preparation programs are an excellent way to
minister the poor and needy by preparing them for the future and empowering them to be able to take
care of themselves. In Seat Pleasant, Maryland, the Training Source offers job training program, self
improvement workshops, and skill training. The Training Source is teaching those who do not have
jobs, job skills which will equip them and help them to find a job (Singletary par. 9). Once the poor
and needy have a job, they will not need to rely on donations of food and clothing to survive. In my
hometown, Anniston, Alabama, the Christians Women s Job Corp and the Christian Men s Job Corp
pairs men and women up with mentors who will help the needy with obtaining their GED,
interviewing skills, resume building, how to dress for success, and applying for jobs. The job corps

able to adjust them in agreement with the demands of a particular situation. Self regulation begins
during the first few weeks of life, it is thought that this begins once an infant obtains the ability to

the infant is able to control their emotions and adjust it to their situation so they can go to sleep.

This basically means that IFRS is not setting certain rules to be followed and are instead giving
guidance in the form of principles.
We now want to look into the International Accounting Standards Board and framework for the
preparation and presentation of financial statements. The conceptual frameworks are split into five
categories and are in the following order: the objective of financial statements; underlying
assumptions; the qualitative characteristics that determine the usefulness of information in financial
statements; the definition, recognition, and measurement of the elements from which financial
statements are constructed; and the concepts of capital and capital maintenance (Ankarath 11). The
standards under IFRS are beginning to become much more popular across the world for several

Alabama A M is better known as Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. This is a
historically black university. Alabama A M is located just a few miles from where the originally was
built in Normal AL. Its first president, Dr. William Hooper Council, an ex slave, established this
university. In 1875 Alabama officials used the Morrill Act of 1862 that allowed state government to
establish schools for black teachers and students. Alabama A M University was one of seventeen new
land grant black institutions established under the Morrill Act. When the doors of the school swung
open in 1875 the name was Huntsville Normal School and was located in downtown Huntsville,
Alabama. The school consisted of only 61 students and 2 teachers. In 1878 the school developed an
industrial education program, and due to the success of the program the school petitioned to change its
name to State Normal and Industrial School in Huntsville. The Alabama Legislature approved their
request and also rose the funding from 1,000 dollars to 4,000 dollars per year. Under the second
Morrill Act in 1890, the university received government funded land for the first time. Having this
land allowed students to study agriculture and mechanical studies. In 1896 the name was renamed the
State Agricultural and Mechanical College for Negroes. In 1919, institution became recognized as a
junior college and was renamed again as the State Agricultural and Mechanical Institute for Negros.

Lincoln In The Bardo
The novel Lincoln in The Bardo by George Saunders is labeled as a work of historical fiction on its
copyright page. However this book has many aspects of a biographical novel in it. While William
Lincoln is only one of the main characters the focus is on the importance for both him and his father to
move on from the tragedy of William s death. Biographical novels use historical figures to tell a truth
about society today and in some cases (usually children and teen forms) emotional truth. In Lincoln in
The Bardo the main focus of the novel is the idea of moving on from tragedy. In the end of the novel

President Lincoln did go to William s grave to grieve, but we do not have the proof of him holding
William. In chapter XX of Lincoln in The Bardo President Lincoln is told to have held William s body
for almost ten minutes by the three main narrators Hans Vollman, Roger Bevins III, and the Reverend
Everly Thomas (58 Saunders). And this is what the novel is about. Learning to work through one s
grief by letting go and finding better ways to cope. In the novel William is stuck in the bardo, which is
defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary as the intermediate or astral state of the soul after death
and before rebirth a sort of ghostly limbo. Hans Vollman and Roger Bevins III are also going through
heavy denial about their deaths, which keeps them from moving on as well. They have been dead long
enough and have convinced each other of the fact that they are just sick in their sick boxes. It is in
William Lincoln though that we really see how good it is for these characters to move on. William in
trying to stay in the graveyard in this bardo state, declines in spirit health. On page 195 the Reverend
Everly Thomas describes William in this manner as real as the fading, webbed boy breathing
shallowly at my feet, banded down snugly across his chest like a captive of the wild Indians. The
reader had been warned at the beginning of the novel at how terrible it is for children to stay in the
bardo for long. William is choosing to stay stuck in this place of limbo because he not only does not
understand where he is, but his father also told William s remains that they would be back. The other
spirits know that for children it is better for them to move on to the unknown and try to encourage him
to it. William was almost convinced to move on until President Lincoln visited his body and held it.

When it comes to custom painting Two Tone is one of the most used. Two tone paint jobs are used on
a lot of factory cars but usually separated with moldings. Two tone is where the bottom of the car is
one color and the top is another. When doing custom painting you can do more than just two tones you
can do three tones or even four tones. Alot of times people separate the colors by a pin strip so that the
colors don t look like to walls of color, the pin strip helps carry your eye without realizing the strip is

When you are going to do two tone you must mask off the part you are not painting and spray the
color on the first part, this is usually the bottom first. Once what you have sprayed dryer you will

In New Jersey Tesla went about improving Edison s line of dynamos while working in Edison s lab. It
was here that his variation of opinion with Edison over direct current versus alternating current began.
This disagreement soon became the war of the currents as Edison fought a losing battle to protect his
investment in direct current equipment and facilities. Tesla began pointing out the worthlessness of
Edison s direct current electrical powerhouses that have been building up and down the Atlantic
seaboard. The secret, he felt, lay in the use of alternating current, because to him all energies were
cyclic. Edison s lamps were weak and worthless when supplied by direct current. This system had a
severe disadvantage in that it could not be transported more than two miles due to its incapability to
step up to high voltage levels necessary for long distance transmission. Because of this a direct current
power station was required every two miles. Direct current flows continuously in one direction;
alternating current changes direction fifty or sixty times per second and can be stepped up to vary high
voltage levels, minimizing power loss across great distances. Nikola Tesla developed polyphase
alternating current system of generators, motors and transformers. He held forty basic U.S. patents on
the system, which George Westinghouse bought, wanting to supply America with the Tesla system.
Edison did not want to lose his direct current

The behaviourism learning theory makes use of any number of these three main strategies as a

Because behaviourism may incorporate many different teaching methods in it the results produced in

Persuasive Essay On Doping Scandals
Doping scandals have rapidly become more and more prevalent as significant developments in
technology and medicine have been made. For some professional athletes, doping is the only way to
make it to the top. Here are ten of the craziest doping scandals of all time.
Number Ten: Floyd Landis
Floyd Lewis was one of the first major cycling stars to come under fire for doping. After an
unbelievable comeback, questions started being asked and his urine came back with three times the
amount of regular testosterone levels. He pointed a finger at Lance Armstrong, but he denied any
involvement. (Don t worry, we ll get to him shortly.)

Racism And Discrimination In The 1900 s
Justice is served by those who see the good in humanity. Imagine living in a world where everywhere
you go, you are ridiculed by others, being put down, having racial slurs spat at you just because you
are different. Racism and discrimination continue to be a significant problem in today s world, let s
backtrack to the 1900 s, where racism was very common. It s wrong when you are not able to apply
for a job or go somewhere because of your race, dealing with each others differences has become a
waste of time and has become an ignorant act.(dosomething.org)
Racism seems like a nightmare that just keeps appearing and never wants to leave, it only leaves you
with a never ending fear. There will always be that one group of people who will not accept who you
are. The act of racism involves committing violent acts to innocent people on no account . The only
reason someone would do something as drastic as to harm someone, is due to fear, they fear that they
will be able to reach their social class, this makes them feel threatened and will take action into their
own hands. Racial acts have been seen all around the world. Studies have shown that ... Show more

Essay about The Mysterious Vanishing Frogs of North America
The Mysterious Vanishing Frogs of North America
I have a passion for all things slimy, wet, and creepy crawly. Some of the best times of my life have
been spent on my knees, digging in the dirt for earthworms, traipsing back from ponds with buckets of
putrid swamp water teeming with tadpoles, or chasing fat little toads in knee high grass. I love the
outdoors and all of the ugly animals that inhabit it. I like to catch them, watch them, and especially
photograph them. For the longest time, lizards have been the main focus of my photographic
endeavors, but last summer, inspired by a book on frogs from the local library, I set out to document
the lives of these often overlooked amphibians. I live in southern Florida near the ... Show more

The facts and science behind declining frog populations will be discussed shortly, but almost as
interesting as the facts themselves is how the story was reported in the media, and how the reporting
influenced the nation s thinking on frogs.
The frenzy over deformed frogs began on a lazy summer day in August 1995. Cindy Reinitz, a teacher
at a school in Henderson, Minnesota, was walking with her middle school students down a deserted,
dusty back road on the way to a field trip at a local farm. Along the way, the kids began to chase frogs
along the side of the road. When one of the kids showed her a frog with a missing leg, her first instinct
was that one of her less than angelic students had pulled the leg off. However, a closer examination of
the frog showed no fresh wound, and when she and her middle schoolers set out to capture more frogs,
they noticed that a large number of the frogs were missing legs, had more than two legs, or were
deformed in some other way (Souder, 1).
The frog story had all of the elements that make a newspaper reporter s ears perk up: children to
provide excellent visuals and add just the right amount of cute factor, a defenseless victim the frogs,
an ultimate evil pollution, and a possible danger to everyone the frogs could ostensibly be canaries in
a mineshaft (idea from Reaser Johnson, 3). By 1997, an alarming number of newspaper articles had
been written

  • 13. Developmental Stages And Theories From Birth From Adolescence Developmental Stages and Theories from Birth to Adolescence Neurological Development According to the Urban Child Institute, the first three years of development are a crucial time for brain development. The human nervous system starts to develop at around day eighteen after conception (Carlson, 2014, p. 55). The brain stem is vital to instinctive functions, such as reflexes, breathing, and heart rate (Urban Child Institute , 2016). These are functions in the body that just happen without thinking about doing anything. The cerebrum is a large portion of the brain, which connects the cerebellum to the brain stem (Urban Child Institute , 2016). This part of the brain is where complex processes like memory and learning take place. The exterior of the cerebrum is the cerebral cortex, this part is not fully developed until adulthood and this is where sophisticated activities, such as planning and decision making are taking place (Urban Child Institute , 2016). The brain is also broken into four smaller pieces called lobes, they are the occipital lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe, and frontal lobe. The occipital lobe is in the back of the brain and is in charge of vision. The parietal lobe is related to bodily sensations such as your body temperature, pressure and pain (Urban Child Institute , 2016). The temporal lobe is intricate to hearing, language skills, social understanding, and observations of people s eyes and faces (Urban Child Institute , 2016). The frontal lobe is ... Indeed, the question has dogged the American populace ever since the invention of the modern mass shooting, and even before, attached to other senseless violent atrocities. Human brains are wired to look for causality in meaningless events as a survival mechanism, so they have a tendency to find it in places where it actually never existed in the first place. Caracol, a Mayan archaeological site located in Belize, was larger and more populated than the modern day Belize City, which is the largest city in Belize, and the archaeological study was begun to better understand the massive Mayan City of Caracol. The term Caracol means shell in Spanish, and it refers to the logging road that provided access to the site when it was first discovered. Early excavators explored only the epicenters in the beginning, but as exploration continued, citizens and researchers started finding multiple tombs outside of the epicenter. The Mynan site was much larger than anticipated; therefore, the excavation expanded. A goal of the assignment was to learn as much as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Insurance In Ancient Greece, bankruptcy did not exist. If a man owed and he could not pay, he and his wife, children or servants were forced into debt slavery , until the creditor recouped losses via their physical labour. Many city states in ancient Greece limited debt slavery to a period of five years and debt slaves had protection of life and limb, which regular slaves did not enjoy. However, servants of the debtor could be retained beyond that deadline by the creditor and were often forced to serve their new lord for a lifetime, usually under significantly harsher conditions. In the Torah, or Old Testament, every seventh year is decreed by Mosaic Law as a Sabbatical year wherein the release of all debts that are owed by members of the ... Companies had separate legal personality , the ability to sue and be sued, and served as an easy mechanism for raising capital through the purchase of shares (an equitable title) in the company s capital. The Act s corollary, to bring the existence of these legal persons to an end was the Joint Stock Companies Winding Up Act 1844. The Limited Liability Act 1855 produced a further innovation. Before, if a corporation had gone broke, the people that lent it money (creditors) could sue all the shareholders to pay off the company s debts. But the 1855 Act said that shareholders liability would be limited to the amount they had paid in their shares. So if you had invested £100 in a company, but now the company owed millions of pounds, the creditors could not come after you for the debts. You would lose £100 and no more. Your liability to pay debts was limited to the value of your shares. The Joint Stock Companies Act 1856 consolidated the companies legislation in one, and the modern law of corporate insolvency was born. In 1994, the Anacostia River was fourth on the list of American Rivers Most Endangered Rivers (Rynor). Since the late 19 th century the water quality in this river has slowly declined with the onset of urbanization and industrialization and the pollution that accompanies this growth. The Anacostia is severely polluted with sediment, nutrients, pathogens, toxins, and trash ( Cleaning ). The ducks he describes have died as a result of the extreme pollution. This description shows the dangerous effects of the pollution and the fact that it is killing the river s wildlife as well as endangering residents. It is unsafe for residents of the area to swim or fish in the river because of its extreme pollution and health risks. Recently, there have been signs posted along the river which warn residents of the hazardous waters. However, for many years the pollution of the Anacostia River was Washington s dirty little secret (Cohn, Warnings ) and there were no signs warning people of the pollution. 5. The fact that the Anacostia River is Washington s dirty little secret reflects the attitude of the rest of the city towards Anacostia. A great majority of the District prefers to ignore the underlying problems faced by Anacostia; this ignorance is reflected in the condition of the river running through its demolished communities. Right now in America, the poor are not being taught how to fish instead they are relying on charities to give away food and clothing for them to survive. Through work readiness programs and a reform in food and clothing distribution, charities can cut the parasite of the dependent poor and prepare them to go out and earn what they need. It was here that his variation of opinion with Edison over direct current versus alternating current began. This disagreement soon became the war of the currents as Edison fought a losing battle to protect his investment in direct current equipment and facilities. Tesla began pointing out the worthlessness of Edison s direct current electrical powerhouses that have been building up and down the Atlantic seaboard. The secret, he felt, lay in the use of alternating current, because to him all energies were cyclic. Edison s lamps were weak and worthless when supplied by direct current. This system had a severe disadvantage in that it could not be transported more than two miles due to its incapability to step up to high voltage levels necessary for long distance transmission. Because of this a direct current power station was required every two miles. Direct current flows continuously in one direction; alternating current changes direction fifty or sixty times per second and can be stepped up to vary high voltage levels, minimizing power loss across great distances. • 40. Essay about The Mysterious Vanishing Frogs of North America The Mysterious Vanishing Frogs of North America I have a passion for all things slimy, wet, and creepy crawly. Some of the best times of my life have been spent on my knees, digging in the dirt for earthworms, traipsing back from ponds with buckets of putrid swamp water teeming with tadpoles, or chasing fat little toads in knee high grass. By 1997, an alarming number of newspaper articles had been written ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
