Charles Ponzi Research Paper
All About Charles Ponzi
Charles Ponzi was born on March 3, 1882 in Italy. According to the New York Times, Ponzi came

Later in his life, he moved to the United States in 1903 by boarding the S.S Vancouver vessel.
During the trip, Ponzi had decided to spend all of his money on gambling and in the end, he was

Different Methods, Bacteria, And Development Transduction,...
Through three different methods, bacteria can obtain new genetic material: conjugation,
transduction and transformation Transduction is when a bacteriophage inserts it s DNA into the
host bacteria cell, while conjugation is when the bacteria shares DNA through direct contact, eg.
horizontal gene transfer. The third method, transformation, is the intake of external DNA into the
cell (Chen and Dubnau, 2004). In order for bacteriato be able to take in extraneous DNA, they must
first be in a state of competent (Hanahan, 1983). There are two types of transformation cells in
transformation: natural competence and artificial competence. Natural transformation can occur
in both gram negative and gram positive bacteria, but have different pathways to take in the new
DNA. There are several ways to induce competence onto some bacteria cells, that are not
naturally competence. Cells can be treated to heat shock, starved of nutrients, the use of
electroporation or keep in ionic solutions to induce competence by increasing the permeability of
the membrane (Van der Rest et al., 1999). Plasmids are circular double stranded DNA found in
bacteria that can encode for basic necessary functions (Couturier, et al., 1988). Ampicillin (6[D( )
a aminophenylacetamido] penicillanic acid) is an antibiotic that is a derivative of penicillin and is
can work against both gram negative and gram positive bacteria (Acred et al. 1962)

Finding The Right Person For A Specific Job
Finding the right person for a specific job can be a difficult task and there are many components
that management would need to determine before hiring an individual. Even though an
individual interviews well and has the qualifications for the job, they may not be a great fit for
the job or the organization. If an employee is hired with that criteria, then it could really affect
the profitability of the company and generate a lot of dissatisfied employees and customers. The
ability to put the right people in the right place, at the right time, is crucial to the success of any
exceptional company (Alter, 2015, p. 43) Therefore, the hiring process needs to be taken slowly
and the potential employee needs to be evaluated very carefully to avoid the consequences of the
employee not fitting into their job role or more importantly not being the right fit for the
organization. However, we know that sometimes this situation is inevitable, so how what are
the consequences of hiring individuals that do not fit their job description or that are not the
right fit for the organization? Person job fit is described as a fit between the abilities of a person
and the demands of the job, or between the desires of a person and the attributes of a job (Yi
Chang, Chien, Chin Chey, 2014, p. 1539). This analysis gives insight into how well a person is
adapting and succeeding at his/ her job role within an organization. If an employee is considered a
poor fit for the job, it would

Customers want to be treated in a friendly manner with honest, straightforward information and
responses. They appreciate a customer service representative who is willing to admit mistakes and
work to correct them. Customers who believe they have been misled stop doing business with the
company. These critical incidents are experiences that make the customer walk away and never
return. They don t complain, they just leave and share the negative service experience with others.
The bad news spreads, leading the organisation to lose more customers and deterring prospective
customers. Critical incidents can include broken promises that annoy and anger customers.
Customers expect to be informed if a promise cannot be fulfilled. Finally, customers expect
understanding and empathy from a customer service representative who is willing to see things
from their point of view, especially when there is a problem. пЃ® Service encounter experience
The service encounter experience determines future levels of service and profit generated by the
organisation. It is where emotions of the service user and the customer service representative meet
in real time; most people judge service quality within the first few moments. Service is often
described as emotional labour , because it demands service personnel to engage their emotions in
their work in a way that a production line role does not. The science of customer service treats

Core Values and the War on Terror
As I think back to the many military leaders who have taken the world stage. Not many leaders
standout that have inspired or influence soldiers. Many have tried to put an end to the war on
terror but have failed. The face of terror was first Al Qaeda when Osama bin Laden was relevant.
Now the face on terror has a new name it s called ISIS. Everyone who was old enough to
remember remembers exactly where he or she was when the two planes hit the twin towers in
New York City. Although it has been 15 years most still vividly remembered by those were old

ASB 4413 INTERNATIONAL STRATEGIC MANAGMENT
A Report Analysis on the Circular Economy using innovative ideas and different case studies of
manufacturing and service sector.
CONTENTS
Executive summary
Introduction
Definition
A Circular economy as a regenerative system in which resource input and waste, emission, and
energy leakage are minimized by slowing, closing, and narrowing material and energy loops. This
can be achieved through long lasting design, maintenance, repair, reuse, remanufacturing,
refurbishing, and recycling. (Martin Geissdoerfer a, 2017)
Concept
We can state that in Circular economy utilizing old merchandise and utilizing crude material
which is as waste, and it can be replicated and reused by reusing the item by utilizing the
imaginative thoughts remembering that it doesn t influence the earth. This will help everyone
to spare cash and it will give steady employment to individuals to work more in up and coming
future. As we probably are aware we are in the new time of the business world as individuals are
presently moving from paper cash to plastic cash and it is the change time frame for the world
economy. Along these lines, same applies to our items as they require some change on the
grounds that the entire world is moving towards the cutting edge world. Looking beyond the
current [take, make and dispose] extractive industrial model, the circular economy is restorative
and regenerative by design . (1.macarthur, 2017) The circular economy can be explained as using
raw materials, recycle it and use new technologies to make more efficient so that our product can
be sustained for long period of time. While we are performing these task, we can generate more
jobs and we require more employees as we are in producing phase, so we need more and more
employees to perform the job. This sector works perfectly because we are recycling the waste and
reproducing it by using different ideas, procedures and technologies to make our product perfect.

Disadvantages Of Integrated Care
Integrated care can mean different things to different people. Integrated care reflects a concern to
improve a patients experience and achieve better efficiency and value from the delivery of care. It
aims to provide a seamless, better coordinated and consistent care (Shaw, 2011: 6). An interlinked
approach has been strongly endorsed in governmentdocuments recently as effective methods to
link care is a pressing policy concern. However moves towards integration have been treated with
suspicion and scepticism by many due to the barriers and challenges which are still open for debate
(Birrell, 2006).
The NHS and Community Care Act 1990 had selected social services responsible for community

The NHS system in Scotland has had an integrated structure since 2004 yet local authorities
continue to take on the responsibility of social care. A few years later Wales followed Scotland in
2009 with the formation of unified local health boards (Goodman, 2012). The Government has
specified that it is dedicated to making evidence based integrated care. In 2014 they planned to
invest ВЈ1 billion through the Better Care Fund . This intends to link up health and social care
services between the NHS and local authorities (Glasby, 2016). The aim is to allow more people to
be cared for in the community and ultimately save the health care money. Different areas are
progressing at different levels with levels of ambition ranging (Glasby, 2012). The Kings Fund
(2011) stated that they believe the NHS commissioning board and the Department of Health need to
dedicate urgent priority to investing in approaches that measure the experiences of patients, carers

The Destruction Of The Earth s Environment
The destruction of the Earth s environment is known by almost every human alive. Our planet is
time and again being attacked by the dominant human race. People treat the earth as if it does
not have a role in our survival as a species. This assault on the environment has been going on for
centuries and has brought about consequences that many of us cannot even fathom. If the world
is anything like the environment depicted in the novel He, She, and It, the world we know today
will be seen as a haven. The environment in the novel as horrible as it may be, is not far from
reality. Deterioration of the earth s environment, population growth, depletion of our resources
and world poverty are all issues that point to the future shown in He, She and It. The possibility
that we could annihilate ourselves has never been more real. However, our species is one of the
most adaptable creatures on Earth, and with our developing technology we might just be able to
salvage the world we have left.
It seems as humans evolve and advance, we also use nature to our advantage, and do not use any
of our new found technology to find ways to replenish those supplies which we so willingly take.
Today, California is a test of our capability to adapt to human caused climate change. California s
first efforts to adapt started with the Assembly Bill 32 (the 2006 Global WarmingSolutions Act),
which has goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2020. Then the state later drafted its first

Satire and Fantasy in Kurt Vonnegut s Cat s Cradle Essay
Satire and Fantasy in Kurt Vonnegut s Cat s Cradle
For this essay, I decided to pick two terms that describe Cat s Cradle. I felt that satire and fantasy
were two terms that suited the novel quite well. The book qualifies as a satire because it makes a
mockery of things that were of concern in the sixties. For example, the Cuban missile crisis was a
big issue in the early sixties. Religion was taken much more seriously, and the family unit was more
tightly wound. In the novel, the threat comes not from a large warhead, but from a small crystal
of Ice nine. Religion is satired in Bokononism, which is a religion that is based on lies. The family
unit is satired by the Hoenikkers. The father is detached from reality, the sister is a ... Show more

Vonnegut has been quoted as saying that one of the reasons he writes is to poison minds with
humanity. . . to encourage them to make a better world. Cat s Cradle poisons minds with
humanity through the characters, who all very effectively demonstrate humanity. Even though the
book itself comes across as a surrealistic fantasy and the plot is sporadic and surprising, the
characters seem very real. Jonah is a narrator, but he is also an audience, as he travels through the
book just as readers do. Jonah was easy for me to relate to because he observed everything and
nothing all at once.
Before he went to the island of San Lorenzo, Jonah was floating on a cloud, not really paying
attention to too much detail. However, as he met more people on the island things started to click
for him, and he was able to make sense out of some of the puzzle that would eventually become
his book. Jonah also makes some dumb mistakes, just like humans do. I don t think that his
agreeing to become the president of San Lorenzo was a smart move, but at the time all he could
think about was marrying Mona, and that in itself was enough motivation for him. Love is blind is
a very popular saying, and it rings true in most humans, and in this case, Jonah.
I thought that another very human character was Newt. He is the youngest sibling, and that s
exactly how he is treated.

John Muir s Save the Redwoods was first featured in his very own Sierra Club Bulletin, an
environmentalist newsletter, in 1920. At the time, loggers were threatening the already sparse
population of California s giant redwoods. Muir s essay expresses his growing concern for the
future of California s ecology and emphasizes the need for swift human intervention. The majority
of people are indifferent, allowing destruction to occur around them in the darkness of ignorance
and unbelief (Muir 1). In order to rouse the feelings of his disinterested audience, Muir incorporates
personification and shows destruction from the perspective of the trees. He realized that even the

working hours, and will be more likely to find a way to improve loading and unloading times.
Final Recommendation: The best path to follow would be to implement all three options.
Hardee Freight Transportation needs to make changes to current network delivery routes in
order to reduce bobtailing to shipper s location and increase paddle time. Coordinating with
shippers to reduce upload and download will benefit both Hardee and its customers.
Implementation: To implement the previous options, Hardee will have to make an assessment
to current delivery routes, customer locations, and type of vehicles at hand in order to come up
with a better network that will decrease number of times a driver has to bobtail to the shipper s
location and increase paddle time. Hardee s sales personnel will have to work closely with
shippers in order to reduce loading and uploading time, more specifically, set a certain amount of
time allotted for this operation. Also, Hardee should set a detention charge if the shipper fails to
meet the allotted time for loading and unloading trucks. Finally, Hardee could offer a lower rate as

Xenotransplantation

According to Webster s Dictionary, a doctor is one skilled or specializing in healing arts.
However, what is entailed in these healing arts has expanded time and time again over the course
of history. At one point in time, to be a doctor was as simple as administering the right dose of a
certain elixir, and then as time went on advances were made in the areas of antibiotics and other
medicines, as well as in surgical arenas. Now we have come to a new age where doctors are pushing
the boundaries of their capability far beyond anyone imagined they could. Since the first kidney

The professional issues involved in xenotransplantation are especially significant due to the nature

doing all they can, in the best way they can, for their patients. In a portion of the Hippocratic oath
taken by doctors entering the medical profession, they swear that into whatsoever house you shall
enter, it shall be for the good of the sick to the utmost of your power... The question is, what exactly
is meant by the utmost of your power ? Ideally whatever form of organ transplantation helps the
most people would be the best, but unfortunately it is not that simple, there are other issues to be
considered.
First of all, the process of xenotransplantation is nowhere near being perfected enough to use on
humans. However, some experts do believe the first clinical trials with pig organs could take place
in as soon as two years. Before this happens, more research needs to be done to figure out how to
work past the current obstacles facing this procedure, one of which is the

Project Plan for Whitbread Sailboat Race Essay
Running head: PROJECT PLAN FOR WHITBREAD WORLD SAILBOAT RACE Project Plan

Whitbread World Sailboat Race The Whitbread World Sailboat Race, now called the Volvo
Ocean Race requires teams to work together to sail around the world taking on many known and
unknown challenges. The race itself is only one part of the challenge. The ability for the race
team leaders to deliver a professionally designed boat and well trained crew on time and on
budget is the first project that needs successful completion. Bjorn Ericksen has been selected to
manage the boat design and crew training process for the company sponsor. He has a hard deadline

This project is sensitive in that it has a critical path that needs to be held to in order for
sequential events to happen in the appropriate time frame. Any delays will ripple throughout the
project manifesting in a rush at the finish of the project to train a team of sailors on a brand new
vessel. This situation must be avoided at all costs, while staying within the budget. Bjorn
Ericksen has come up with the appropriate project plan to reduce the timeframe and have a well
train team of sailors ready to compete on a finely tuned sailing vessel. Plan to Reduce Project
Duration The project has two parallel paths that will cross at a critical future point. Portions of
each path have the ability to be compressed, each having an associated cost increase and risk
factor. Bjorn decided the best plan has the boat construction accelerated while the crew selection
and training can proceed according to planned time and cost estimates. The plan has the boat and
crew ready for transport in 41 weeks at a cost of $3.17M. This timeline gives minimal protection
against cost overruns and any minor time delays, however, some free slack is available to the
team. Karin Knutsen will be heading up the boat design and construction portion of the project and
as such is responsible for getting the best designed and built boat to the sailors in 28 weeks.

A Review of Therapists Integration of Religion and...
Summary
In this meta analysis of integration of spirituality and religion in the counseling field, the authors
seek to understand the skills and attitudes needed to integrate these variables into counseling.
Among those that were studied are awareness of one s own culture and heritage, respect for the
diversity found in people concerning spirituality and religion and recognition of one s helping style
and how it may be perceived by clients (Walker, Gorsuch, Tan, 2004).
A difficulty that has occurred commonly is that a definition of spirituality cannot be agreed on. In a
broad explanation of both religion as well as spirituality, religion constitutes the organization of faith
, implementing prayer, ministry and theology. Spirituality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An explanation of use of correlation studies in meta analysis explains that often by doing so is to
create conservative estimates or a down ward bias. This means that statistics presented in this meta
analysis may actually be higher than actual calculations prove.
Inquiries that seemed relevant for this study included personal religious and spiritual beliefs of
therapists, how therapists use their personal religious and spiritual beliefs in their use of explicit
integration therapies, and comparison in samples that encompassed explicit integration therapists
with samples that mixed secular and religious therapists as well as diverse professional
backgrounds that may lead to more or less acceptance of various cultures (Walker et al., 2004, p.
72). These queries touch on the various cultures, religions, beliefs and ideologies that encompass
the United States and how important it is for psychologists and counselors to have proper training
when using religion and spirituality in order to acknowledge and respect all philosophies.
Reflection
This article states that 90% of Americans claim a Protestant or Catholic religious affiliation
(Walker et al., 2004, p. 70). While not all Americans attend an organized church or practice
Christian rituals such as prayer or reading the Bible at any given time, spirituality is very much an
influence in our country. As a nation that found its

The Negative Effects Of Mental Health In Student-Athletes
The negative impact mental health has had on student athletes is a continuous problem across the
globe and has been a topic of interest in the research world for many years. The stigma behind
mental health have lead to symptoms of depression and anxiety, reluctance to seek help, the sense
of helplessness and loneliness and many more. In a student athlete, these stress levels are brought
upon the individual for multiple reasons. For example, student athletes have to accomplish a
certain degree of success both on the playing field and in the classroom (A.P. , Deitrick, J.M. ,
Reynolds, E. (2016). Maintaining a required average and playing time can become not only
physically but mentally exhausting. This literature review will discuss the barriers and facilitators
to mental health in student athletes and how the stigmatization of those student athletes who suffer
from a mental illness have an impact on their everyday life. Review of Literature Parental, Peer
and Coach Pressure It is said that the reason for student athletes experiencing higher stress levels
are because of their extensive time demands, pressures to achieve, physical burn out and conflict
with teammates, coaches and teachers. (J. W. 2015). In one hand I believe that this overall
statement is true, but on the other hand I believe the amount of stress depends on the individual
and there involvement with their academics and athletics (Sudano, L. E., Collins, G., Miles, C. M.
(2017). With social stress, the

a cost of living increase for several years. In fact, our members have agreed to wage cuts each
year by agreeing to pay increased medical insurance costs. This year, we are again not asking the
city for a COLA increase. However, we are asking for a MOU which contains a small stipend.
Currently, the city continues to reject our request by stating that they cannot afford it. We simply
cannot agree with their findings. Currently the city has approximately 3.7 million in general fund
reserves. We acknowledge that the cities general funds reserves have decreased in recent years
however; the stipend we are requesting is a very small percentage of these reserves. Currently, our
members are among the lowest paid law enforcement professional in the county and as a result of

Dry Filters During WWII
During the Second World War a multitude of dry filters containing wood wool, sisal fibre, glass
wool, wood chips soaked in oil, and other types of fibrous or granular material were used for
removal of the fine dust (average particle size below 60 micron), but success was very limited.
Wet purifiers such as water and oil scrubbers and bubblers are also effective but only within certain
limits.
The best cleaning effect is obtained by employing cloth filters. However, normal cloth filters are
very sensitive to the gas temperature. In the case of wood or agricultural waste gasification, the
dew point of the gas will be around 70 C. Below this temperature water will condense in the filters,
causing obstruction of the gas flow and an unacceptable

Conflicting Perspectives Julius Caesar
Conflicting perspectives are the direct result of bias or self interest as people are always quick to
enforce the correctness of their perspective over those of others, by contrasting their perspectives
with others, they seek to advantage their own point of view opposed to the viewpoints of others.
Conflicting perspectives are caused by bias, or prejudice, and self interest from a person, event or
situation that is encountered. William Shakespeare s Julius Caesarand Philadelphia (1993), written
by Ron Nyswaner and directed by Jonathan Demme, are both prime examples of when bias and
self interest lead to conflicting perspectives in society. More than anything else, conflicting

Similarily, Mark Antonty s conflicting perspective is driven by bias and self interest, more than
anything else. Antony s private and public nature shows a conflicting perspective. Towards the
beginning of the play, Antony is depicted as passionate, loyal, loving and noble. This is shown in
Act 1 scene two, when Antony refers to Caesar as my lord . This shows his loyal to Caesar. I
shall remember: When Caesar says Do this , it is performed. This quote defines Antony s loyalty
for his friend Caesar. While speaking with Antony, Caesar speaks of his fear of Cassius. Antony
shows his loving nature of Caesar to show comfort and support. Fear him not, Caesar, he s not
dangerous, He is a noble Roman and well given. The dramatic irony is uncovered throughout the
play as Cassius is plotting to kill Caesar. The epithet of noble Roman becomes irony as Cassius
plot is exposed and his nobleness is lost. The extensive use of emotive language throughout Antony
s funeral orotaion displays his caring nature and depicts a noble man. However, the anaphora of the
irony of Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus is an honourable man... juxtaposed, again with
his loving nature, with my heart is in the coffin there with Caesar shows the

Physical Storage Media Such As Usb Drives And External Hdds
physical storage media such as USB drives and external HDDs. If students backup work to
personal backup systems regularly their should be no issues with consistency but if students
neglect to backup work every time it is changed then them being in charge of their own backup
would ne unpractical because in the event of data loss they could not backupto the most recent
version of the file.
There also arises an issue of students bringing their own storage media which as well as external
storage devices includes the student s device itself. It is possible that the student s devices have
become corrupted with various issues such as, worms, virus, adware and spyware. Depending on
the conditions, the network connection may create an environment for the malware to spread to
other devices and cause multiple infections. However an advantage of this would be the school
would not need to spend money on backup hardware.
File types would become an issue when students are using a range of freeware on their devices.
Rather than pay $1000 dollars for Adobe Photoshop as explained earlier freeware is available
that can perform the same tasks to the same or a less technical level. These often have their own
file types to save in but many of them for example Kingston office allows users to save in the
same file type or a compatible file type for its paid counterpart, however some freeware may not

Analysis Of Webrtc Is A Free, Open Project That Enables...
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
WebRTC is a free, open project that enables web browsers with Real Time Communication
capabilities via the use of simple JavaScript APIs and HTML5. The WebRTC components have been
built to serve that purpose. It has been termed as a disruptive innovation that has replaced the
software installation or plug in functionality demanded by the old browsers. It can democratize and
decentralize tools required for content creation and communication like telephony, gaming, video
production, music making, news gathering and many other applications. It builds on the strength of
the web browser and abstracts signalling by offering a simple state machine that maps directly to
PeerConnection. This enables the web developers to choose their own signalling protocols for their
usage scenario. Ultimately, its flexibility and ability to download JavaScript will change the way
Real Time Communication happens in the future.
1. INTRODUCTION
Real Time Communications (RTCs) had a beginning with the dedicated Telephone networks before
they evolved to use the Internet with Telecom type Servers . The significant development that
happened to make the worlds of RTC and Web to meet was WebRTC which was the answer to
avoid the installation of plug ins into web browsers and build Real Time functions directly into the
browsers. [4]
WebRTC (Web Real Time Communication) is an Application Programming Interface (API)

A Comparison Of Glaciers
Glaciers and icecaps can be easily mistaken in a common conversation but there are many
similarities but there are big differences that classify them as two different things.
A glacier is a body of dense ice that is formed in areas where the amount of snowfall exceeds the
amount of snow melted per year such as: Greenland, Antarctica and Russia. It forms when snow
accumulates in one specific area over many years, possibly centuries. The snow slowly forms into
ice and each year the layer of ice increases depending on the temperature. When the glacier
becomes large and heavy enough the pressure from the weight of the glacier often deforms the
glacier, Which usually causes the glacier to get new feature such crevasses and seracs. Most glaciers

Abstract Dementia has many forms and it is a decline in memory, language and reasoning.
Alzheimer s is a form of dementia. Alzheimer s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder, meaning
the loss of function and stability. This is a disease that affects cognitive and physical abilities in
the patient. Many people in the world have Alzheimer s and it is in elders over the age of 65.
There are lots of treatments available, but there is no cure for it. Keywords: Alzheimer s disease
(A.D), Caregivers, Treatments, Cognitive Dementia is caused by a decline in cognition. About
35 million people in the world have dementia and it is considered a syndrome rather than an
illness. About 9% 13% of elders over the age of 65 have dementia and 2% of elders have a
curable disorder, for instance major depression (Rabins, 2014). There are many factors that
relate to dementia. The three types of progressive dementia are: Alzheimer s disease, vascular
dementia, and Lewy body dementia (Rabins, 2014). The number one cause of dementia is A.D.
The following discussion addresses the following main disease, which is Alzheimer s and
possible causes, stages of A.D., caretaking and treatment. This occurs in elders above 60 years
old. Research indicates that worldwide, there is approximately 24 million people with A.D. A.D

Indentured Servants In England s North American Colonies
Slaves existed in the England s North American colonies throughout the 1600s. However,
indentured servitude was very common before the 1680s. For half a century or so after 1620,
most laborers were indentured servants; only a small proportion were African slaves (Clark,
Hewitt, Brown Jaffee, 2007 p64). Indentured servants were people who signed an indenture, a
contract by which they agreed to work for a serval number of years in exchange for transportation
to colonies; in addition, they would get food, clothing, land, and freedom. The first Indentured
servants in British colonies were introduced by the Virginia Company in 1619. At that time, there

Importance Of Communication In International Business
IMPORTANCE OF CROSS CULTURE COMMUNICATION IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
Cross culture communication is defined as the interaction between the team members who are

business, we have to communicate with the foreign people and we have to communicate the other

communication in business because to create an effectiveness between people from the diverse

and raise the productivity. There are three main points that I am going to illustrate in this essay
which is the importance of language, religion, and social habits.
The first and most important topic is language in international business. Language plays a huge role
in cross culture communication. It is one of the huge problems in today s market which company

The Effects Of Viral Load On Hiv Essay
On November 10, 2016, a new report was released to the public about a special type of microchip
that can test the amount of viral load of HIV in less than 30 minutes. This test can be completely
self administered. The user can check the viral load amount in the bloodstream by placing a drop
of their blood on the microchip, which looks similar to that of a USBdrive. This microchip is then
inserted into a computer, tablet, or other handheld device. The results can be achieved in less than
30 minutes, and many users had an answer in about 21 minutes with 95% accuracy. The current
method requires sending blood to a laboratory and can take at least three days, if not longer, to
detect the viral load present. This microchip can help to monitor those patients who are receiving
treatment, but do not have access to local clinics. Researchers hope that this device can
specifically help in Sub Saharan Africa and other rural areas which may not have easy access to
testing facilities nearby (Imperial College London: 2016). This new microchip received a lot of
publicity for a few major reasons. While it is not currently commercially available, it provided a
proof of concept for a point of care method for the detection of the viral load of HIVpresent. This is
the first report of an on chip detection of RNA via microchip. While there are a few similar
products that are close to market or in development, they all require lab equipment and a desktop

The Uncanny And Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights
Assessment 1: Critical Commentary Freud s The Uncanny and Emily BrontГ© s Wuthering
Heights The principal idea in Sigmund Freud s interpretation of The Uncanny theory centres around
the Heimlich, translating to homely and thus, what is familiar, and the Unheimlich, which is often
translated to what is Uncanny defined as what is [...] frightening precisely because it is not known
and familiar (Freud, 1919) or later described as something that is secretly familiar which has
undergone repression . He extends the theory further by placing the uncanny in to two classes, those
are, thoughts that have been surmounted , for example, superstitious beliefs that have been
discarded but re emerge when an event occurs that could potentially confirm these beliefs. The
second class being that of the repressed complexes such as recalling repressed trauma, most
specifically from childhood, fear, and unconscious desires. The essay by Freud begins with the
essential factor proposed by Ernst Jentsch relating to the uncanny theory, which Freud later attempts
to contradict. The theory proposed is that of intellectual uncertainty , and thus something someone
does not know one s way about in as well as the uncertainty over whether an object is inanimate or
alive. Although it appears that Freud agrees partially with these ideas proposed by Jentsch, he adds
further to this with his own principles and those are that of the castration anxiety, which in its literal

Why Advertising Alcohol Is Destroying Public Well-Being Essay

Why Advertising Alcohol Is Destroying Public Well Being When I was nine years old, I remember
seeing the most delectable, mouthwatering commercial on television. It was for beer. Growing up in
a family that did not drink, I never thought beer could look so appetizing. The beverage was
everywhere I looked except for in my own fridge. Not only adults, but kids and teens everywhere
are being bombarded with alcohol advertisements. Many of these youths choose to succumb to
these ads and end up with destructive drinking habits. Not only is alcohol damaging to youth but
also to adults. According to a U.S. study, adults were found to put themselves at severe risk of
harm after having more than four drinks in one session (Medew). This number can change
depending on the gender, size, athleticism, and other factors of the consumer. Although some may
say that alcohol is not too damaging if drunk responsibly, the fact that alcohol is a direct route to
damaging organs like the liver, heart, and pancreas and harming the brain is a red flag
(NIHSeniorHealth). To whatever extent, alcohol weakens the brain s control over movement,
speech, memory, and especially judgement, which often leads to impulsive behavior and other
dangerous activities (NIHSeniorHealth). There are plenty of harmful side effects of drinking, so
the obvious solution to preserving the nation s well being is to not encourage it. One quote by a

Witchcraft In Peter Morton s The Trials Of Tempel Anneke
Peter Morton in The Trials of Tempel Anneke discusses different types of magic including high
magic, used by those educated, such as alchemy, and low magic including spells and charms. It
is of the popular belief that maleficium alone would not have caused many witch trials in Europe,
rather it was due to the belief of a link between maleficium and diabolism which requires a pact
with the Devil (Morton, 2006). Magic was not uncommon in early modern Europe and was
accepted in communities. Fear of magic linked to the Devil encouraged fear of low magic and
accusations of witchcraft. Anna Roleffes, also known as Tempel Anneke, was arrested in 1663 due
to accusations of witchcraft presented by her neighbors. Tempel Anneke had many attributes...

then an interrogation of the accused (Morton, 2006). Stages of the Carolina include the initiation of
an investigation, the collection of testimonies, and most importantly two confessions, one under
torture if required and one without torture (Morton, 2006). While in the beginning, Tempel

Germany, a German Jew of Hungarian Descent and Frida s mother was Matilde Calderon, born on
July 5, 1874 in MexicoCity, Mexico of Spanish Indian descent and a devout Catholic.
Frida Kahlo contracted Polio at a very young age; she was 6 years old and this would be the
beginning event of her experience with pain. She was restricted to bed for a period of 9 months.
Her right leg was deformed and remained thinner than her left leg so she decided to cover her
withered leg by wearing long skirts for the rest of her life. At this young age she experienced
pain, isolation and loneliness since her classmates would tease her and call her names as a result
of her right leg deformity. She found that her imagination was a safe haven to retreat to so no one
would know she was feeling hurt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He looked at her paintings and told her that he liked the painting, Self Portrait in a Velvet Dress
(1926) , because it was one of a kind. He told her to continue painting and that he would be
visiting her to see her progress. He finally came to see her new paintings and told her she had
talent. What followed was an invitation from Diego Rivera for Frida to attend a party where she
meets the photographer, Tina Modotti and David Alfaro Siqueiros, another mural painter who is
also a communist. Diego Rivera introduces Frida to the politics of the Communist Party and she

Ghandi and His Fight Agains Discrimination in South Africa...
Gandhi is considered by many around the world as the father of the Indian independence
movement. Gandhi spent over 20 years in South Africa working to fight discrimination. It was in
South Africa that he developed his concept of Satyagraha, a non violent way of protesting against
discrimination. The first time Gandhi used Satyagraha was in South Africabeginning in 1907 when
he organized opposition to the Black Act. In 1907, the Black Act was passed, requiring all Indians
to keep registration documents on them at all times. Gandhi s first hand experiences in dealing with
discrimination began in South Africa. In Chapter VII Some Experiences, Gandhi recalls on his first
days of his arrival the incident at the Durban court... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You must leave this compartment, or else I shall have to call a police constable to push you out.
Yes, you may. I refuse to get out voluntarily.
This incident began his life long battle against all discriminations. Although he debated returning to
India, his duty came first. It would be cowardice to run back to India without fulfilling my
obligation. The hardship to which I was subjected was superficial only a symptom of the deep
disease of colour prejudice. I should try, if possible, to root out the disease and suffer hardships
in the process. Redress for wrongs I should seek only to the extent that would be necessary for
the removal of the colour prejudice. Gandhi also faced the same discrimination on a coach from
Johannesburg to Charlestown, and learned the racial condescension of the racial slur coolie. A
coolie is a historical term for manual labourers and a racial slur. The term was used in America
towards the Chinese workers that built the railroad during the 19th and early 20th century and
toward the Indians indentured laborers. On the coach, a white passenger did not want a coolie
sitting inside with the other whites. Instead, he insisted that Gandhi sit on the floor at his feet on a
sack. When Gandhi refused, the man physically assaulted him the man came down upon me and
began heavily to box my ear. He seized me by the arm and tried to drag me down. I clung to the

The Importance Of Teaching A Past Lesson
One of the greatest aspects of teaching is having the opportunity to engage with students. Engaging
in the practice requires that teachers are constantly reflecting and wondering how they can better
enhance their performance. This is often done through reflecting on past lessons as well as actively
seeking appropriate leadership roles and opportunities. Effective teachers are master reflectors who
always understand how their actions contribute to the success of their students, their families and
their communities. Effective teachers are also sure that they are using their reflectionsand new
knowledge to inform their practice. In addition to reflecting on their own practice, new teachers are
always reading to collaborate with superiors or colleagues in order to gain new and innovative
information.
My first piece of evidence I have included for Standard 9 is an analysis of a past lesson. In the
analysis, I carefully reflect on the effects my choices and actions in the classroom have impacted
my students. Despite how passionately teachers may feel about engaging with students, it is
important that we are constantly wondering how we can improve our performance in the
classroom. Little that happens in the classroom happens for no reason. Constant reflection allows
for teachers and students alike to understand how classroom interactions can become more
meaningful. In addition to my lesson analysis, I have also included a lesson plan and its subsequent
reflection. The lesson

Famous Artist Stereotypes Essay
Stereotypes are well known among humans and many of us have been faced with the criticism of
such stereotypes. One of the most well known stereotypes is those belonging to famous artists.
These stereotypes come from many of the movies created about such artists. Some believe that
famous artists are someone people that are abnormal or odd in their way of thinking or actions.
When asked what comes into someone s mind when asked about famous artists may also be how
they are not famous until death. Along with these beliefs, people believe that artists have a very
active sex life. Through media, these stereotypesare true but in all actuality, they are not correct.
When thinking about famous artists, many people believe that they all suffer from some type of
mental illness. Van Gogh is an example of the stereotype. Seventy days after Vincent moves to
Auvers sur Oise and under the care of Dr. Gachet, he dies from a self inflicted gunshot wound.
Many know the artist to be quite ill mentally along with the fact of Van Gogh cutting his own ear
off. The man is known to have had many doctors by his side, checking ... Show more content on

In Frida, the main character Frida is shown being very active in her sex life. Diego Rivera
speaks to Frida about her unfaithfulness in their marriage, You ve broken my heart, Frida. It
hurts doesn t it? But why? It was just a fuck, like a handshake. (Frida). Some people do not
realize though that famous artists are not always active in their sex life. Berthe Morisot, a well
known artist, marries into a financially and socially stable relationship with the brother of another
well known male artist. Though she is married, Berthe is driven in her career to become a well
known artist and show her works through exhibitions (Berthe Morisot Biography). Though there are
facts proven that not all artists are sexually active, some will continue to prove such

Analysis Of Marge Piercy s A Work Of Artifice
The United States Women s National Team is paid almost four times less than the United States
Men s National Team, despite producing nearly $20 million in revenues for U.S. Soccer in 2015 .
Some may argue that just because they are women they don t deserve equal pay or the same rights
as the men s soccer players. This is one of many situations that contributes injustices against women.
It is these injustices that Marge Piercy exposes in her feminist poem A Work of Artifice. Although
to the untrained eye, A Work of Artifice may appear to be simply about bonsai trees, the poem
actually uses an extended, implied metaphor or to emphasize the damaging effects of misogyny on
women and to underscore the patriarchal ignorance that oppresses women.... Show more content on

Piercy compares men to a gardener, which outlines the damaging effects of patriarchy. For
example, Piercy states, The gardener croons, it is your nature to be small and cozy, domestic and
weak; how lucky, little tree, to have a pot to grow in. and how attractive the pot is. The gardener
truly feels that he isn t doing any harm to the bonsai, that the plant is very lucky to have such a
nice, attractive pot to live in. The gardener does not realize that he is doing more harm to the
bonsai by not letting it grow to its full potential. Piercy then shows how the gardner manipulates the
appearance or hinders the growth of the bonsai. She is making the relation as to how men treat
women in present society. She then exemplifies her opinion of men being an inconsiderate, ignorant
species that hinders a woman s potential to be succeed on her own and fulfill her own aspirations.
Through her opinion, she then makes the connection that the pot and the bonsai refer to women
only being a stay at home mom or in the kitchen cooking, are their only duty. By using an extended
metaphor, Piercy explains her views as to how men are inconsiderate, ignorant and completely
ruthless towards women because of the patriarchal society that is present

  • 6. Different Methods, Bacteria, And Development Transduction,... Through three different methods, bacteria can obtain new genetic material: conjugation, transduction and transformation Transduction is when a bacteriophage inserts it s DNA into the host bacteria cell, while conjugation is when the bacteria shares DNA through direct contact, eg. horizontal gene transfer. The third method, transformation, is the intake of external DNA into the cell (Chen and Dubnau, 2004). In order for bacteriato be able to take in extraneous DNA, they must first be in a state of competent (Hanahan, 1983). There are two types of transformation cells in transformation: natural competence and artificial competence. Natural transformation can occur in both gram negative and gram positive bacteria, but have different pathways to take in the new DNA. There are several ways to induce competence onto some bacteria cells, that are not naturally competence. Cells can be treated to heat shock, starved of nutrients, the use of electroporation or keep in ionic solutions to induce competence by increasing the permeability of the membrane (Van der Rest et al., 1999). Plasmids are circular double stranded DNA found in bacteria that can encode for basic necessary functions (Couturier, et al., 1988). Finding The Right Person For A Specific Job Finding the right person for a specific job can be a difficult task and there are many components that management would need to determine before hiring an individual. Even though an individual interviews well and has the qualifications for the job, they may not be a great fit for the job or the organization. If an employee is hired with that criteria, then it could really affect the profitability of the company and generate a lot of dissatisfied employees and customers. The ability to put the right people in the right place, at the right time, is crucial to the success of any exceptional company (Alter, 2015, p. 43) Therefore, the hiring process needs to be taken slowly and the potential employee needs to be evaluated very carefully to avoid the consequences of the employee not fitting into their job role or more importantly not being the right fit for the organization. However, we know that sometimes this situation is inevitable, so how what are the consequences of hiring individuals that do not fit their job description or that are not the right fit for the organization? Person job fit is described as a fit between the abilities of a person and the demands of the job, or between the desires of a person and the attributes of a job (Yi Chang, Chien, Chin Chey, 2014, p. 1539). CONTENTS Executive summary Introduction Definition A Circular economy as a regenerative system in which resource input and waste, emission, and energy leakage are minimized by slowing, closing, and narrowing material and energy loops. This can be achieved through long lasting design, maintenance, repair, reuse, remanufacturing, refurbishing, and recycling. (Martin Geissdoerfer a, 2017) Concept We can state that in Circular economy utilizing old merchandise and utilizing crude material which is as waste, and it can be replicated and reused by reusing the item by utilizing the imaginative thoughts remembering that it doesn t influence the earth. This will help everyone to spare cash and it will give steady employment to individuals to work more in up and coming future. As we probably are aware we are in the new time of the business world as individuals are presently moving from paper cash to plastic cash and it is the change time frame for the world economy. Along these lines, same applies to our items as they require some change on the grounds that the entire world is moving towards the cutting edge world. Looking beyond the current [take, make and dispose] extractive industrial model, the circular economy is restorative and regenerative by design . (1.macarthur, 2017) The circular economy can be explained as using raw materials, recycle it and use new technologies to make more efficient so that our product can be sustained for long period of time. While we are performing these task, we can generate more jobs and we require more employees as we are in producing phase, so we need more and more employees to perform the job. This sector works perfectly because we are recycling the waste and reproducing it by using different ideas, procedures and technologies to make our product perfect. (1.macarthur, 2017)

Our planet is time and again being attacked by the dominant human race. People treat the earth as if it does not have a role in our survival as a species. This assault on the environment has been going on for centuries and has brought about consequences that many of us cannot even fathom. If the world is anything like the environment depicted in the novel He, She, and It, the world we know today will be seen as a haven. The environment in the novel as horrible as it may be, is not far from reality. Deterioration of the earth s environment, population growth, depletion of our resources and world poverty are all issues that point to the future shown in He, She and It. The possibility that we could annihilate ourselves has never been more real. However, our species is one of the most adaptable creatures on Earth, and with our developing technology we might just be able to salvage the world we have left. It seems as humans evolve and advance, we also use nature to our advantage, and do not use any of our new found technology to find ways to replenish those supplies which we so willingly take. I felt that satire and fantasy were two terms that suited the novel quite well. The book qualifies as a satire because it makes a mockery of things that were of concern in the sixties. For example, the Cuban missile crisis was a big issue in the early sixties. Religion was taken much more seriously, and the family unit was more tightly wound. In the novel, the threat comes not from a large warhead, but from a small crystal of Ice nine. Religion is satired in Bokononism, which is a religion that is based on lies. The family unit is satired by the Hoenikkers. The father is detached from reality, the sister is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Vonnegut has been quoted as saying that one of the reasons he writes is to poison minds with humanity. . . to encourage them to make a better world. Cat s Cradle poisons minds with humanity through the characters, who all very effectively demonstrate humanity. Even though the book itself comes across as a surrealistic fantasy and the plot is sporadic and surprising, the characters seem very real. Jonah is a narrator, but he is also an audience, as he travels through the book just as readers do. Jonah was easy for me to relate to because he observed everything and nothing all at once. Before he went to the island of San Lorenzo, Jonah was floating on a cloud, not really paying attention to too much detail. However, as he met more people on the island things started to click for him, and he was able to make sense out of some of the puzzle that would eventually become his book. Jonah also makes some dumb mistakes, just like humans do. I don t think that his agreeing to become the president of San Lorenzo was a smart move, but at the time all he could think about was marrying Mona, and that in itself was enough motivation for him. Love is blind is a very popular saying, and it rings true in most humans, and in this case, Jonah. I thought that another very human character was Newt. Summary In this meta analysis of integration of spirituality and religion in the counseling field, the authors seek to understand the skills and attitudes needed to integrate these variables into counseling. Among those that were studied are awareness of one s own culture and heritage, respect for the diversity found in people concerning spirituality and religion and recognition of one s helping style and how it may be perceived by clients (Walker, Gorsuch, Tan, 2004). A difficulty that has occurred commonly is that a definition of spirituality cannot be agreed on. This means that statistics presented in this meta analysis may actually be higher than actual calculations prove. Inquiries that seemed relevant for this study included personal religious and spiritual beliefs of therapists, how therapists use their personal religious and spiritual beliefs in their use of explicit integration therapies, and comparison in samples that encompassed explicit integration therapists with samples that mixed secular and religious therapists as well as diverse professional backgrounds that may lead to more or less acceptance of various cultures (Walker et al., 2004, p. 72). These queries touch on the various cultures, religions, beliefs and ideologies that encompass the United States and how important it is for psychologists and counselors to have proper training when using religion and spirituality in order to acknowledge and respect all philosophies. • 26. The Negative Effects Of Mental Health In Student-Athletes The negative impact mental health has had on student athletes is a continuous problem across the globe and has been a topic of interest in the research world for many years. The stigma behind mental health have lead to symptoms of depression and anxiety, reluctance to seek help, the sense of helplessness and loneliness and many more. In a student athlete, these stress levels are brought upon the individual for multiple reasons. For example, student athletes have to accomplish a certain degree of success both on the playing field and in the classroom (A.P. , Deitrick, J.M. , Reynolds, E. (2016). Maintaining a required average and playing time can become not only physically but mentally exhausting. This literature review will discuss the barriers and facilitators to mental health in student athletes and how the stigmatization of those student athletes who suffer from a mental illness have an impact on their everyday life. Review of Literature Parental, Peer and Coach Pressure It is said that the reason for student athletes experiencing higher stress levels are because of their extensive time demands, pressures to achieve, physical burn out and conflict with teammates, coaches and teachers. (J. W. 2015). In one hand I believe that this overall statement is true, but on the other hand I believe the amount of stress depends on the individual and there involvement with their academics and athletics (Sudano, L. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY WebRTC is a free, open project that enables web browsers with Real Time Communication capabilities via the use of simple JavaScript APIs and HTML5. The WebRTC components have been built to serve that purpose. It has been termed as a disruptive innovation that has replaced the software installation or plug in functionality demanded by the old browsers. It can democratize and decentralize tools required for content creation and communication like telephony, gaming, video production, music making, news gathering and many other applications. It builds on the strength of the web browser and abstracts signalling by offering a simple state machine that maps directly to PeerConnection. This enables the web developers to choose their own signalling protocols for their usage scenario. Ultimately, its flexibility and ability to download JavaScript will change the way Real Time Communication happens in the future. 1. INTRODUCTION Real Time Communications (RTCs) had a beginning with the dedicated Telephone networks before they evolved to use the Internet with Telecom type Servers . The significant development that happened to make the worlds of RTC and Web to meet was WebRTC which was the answer to avoid the installation of plug ins into web browsers and build Real Time functions directly into the browsers. A glacier is a body of dense ice that is formed in areas where the amount of snowfall exceeds the amount of snow melted per year such as: Greenland, Antarctica and Russia. It forms when snow accumulates in one specific area over many years, possibly centuries. The snow slowly forms into ice and each year the layer of ice increases depending on the temperature. The Effects Of Viral Load On Hiv Essay On November 10, 2016, a new report was released to the public about a special type of microchip that can test the amount of viral load of HIV in less than 30 minutes. This test can be completely self administered. The user can check the viral load amount in the bloodstream by placing a drop of their blood on the microchip, which looks similar to that of a USBdrive. This microchip is then inserted into a computer, tablet, or other handheld device. The results can be achieved in less than 30 minutes, and many users had an answer in about 21 minutes with 95% accuracy. The current method requires sending blood to a laboratory and can take at least three days, if not longer, to detect the viral load present. This microchip can help to monitor those patients who are receiving treatment, but do not have access to local clinics. Researchers hope that this device can specifically help in Sub Saharan Africa and other rural areas which may not have easy access to testing facilities nearby (Imperial College London: 2016). The second class being that of the repressed complexes such as recalling repressed trauma, most specifically from childhood, fear, and unconscious desires. The essay by Freud begins with the essential factor proposed by Ernst Jentsch relating to the uncanny theory, which Freud later attempts to contradict. The theory proposed is that of intellectual uncertainty , and thus something someone does not know one s way about in as well as the uncertainty over whether an object is inanimate or alive. It was for beer. Growing up in a family that did not drink, I never thought beer could look so appetizing. The beverage was everywhere I looked except for in my own fridge. Not only adults, but kids and teens everywhere are being bombarded with alcohol advertisements. Many of these youths choose to succumb to these ads and end up with destructive drinking habits. Not only is alcohol damaging to youth but also to adults. According to a U.S. study, adults were found to put themselves at severe risk of harm after having more than four drinks in one session (Medew). This number can change depending on the gender, size, athleticism, and other factors of the consumer. Although some may say that alcohol is not too damaging if drunk responsibly, the fact that alcohol is a direct route to damaging organs like the liver, heart, and pancreas and harming the brain is a red flag (NIHSeniorHealth). To whatever extent, alcohol weakens the brain s control over movement, speech, memory, and especially judgement, which often leads to impulsive behavior and other dangerous activities (NIHSeniorHealth). Engaging in the practice requires that teachers are constantly reflecting and wondering how they can better enhance their performance. This is often done through reflecting on past lessons as well as actively seeking appropriate leadership roles and opportunities. Effective teachers are master reflectors who always understand how their actions contribute to the success of their students, their families and their communities. Effective teachers are also sure that they are using their reflectionsand new knowledge to inform their practice. In addition to reflecting on their own practice, new teachers are always reading to collaborate with superiors or colleagues in order to gain new and innovative information. My first piece of evidence I have included for Standard 9 is an analysis of a past lesson. In the analysis, I carefully reflect on the effects my choices and actions in the classroom have impacted my students. Despite how passionately teachers may feel about engaging with students, it is important that we are constantly wondering how we can improve our performance in the classroom.
