The Pros And Cons Of The Industrial Revolution
A series of agricultural advancements were made throughout 18th century Britain that improved
cultivation methods and allowed for more efficient crop production that helped pay off much of the
country s debt and create a more stable and affordable diet for everyone. These improvements paved
the way for many other revolutions to occur such as the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial
Revolution made manual labor much easier through the use of machines. The high demand for the
products Britain was producing called for many workers and machines to meet the need. It created
many jobs and allowed anyone willing to work to make a sufficient living
During the Industrial Revolution many new technologies were made that helped to expedite the
production of goods in high demand. Since Britain was producing these goods at a faster rate
they were able to meet the needs and supply surrounding areas with the goods. Britain was able to
make a good profit off of these goods because of how high the demand was for them. Textiles were
one of the products most requested because the people wanted more clothing options. Textiles were
previously made from woolen cloth until they discovered cotton was more efficient. The more
popular cotton was becoming, the more workers needed, as a result landowners turned to slavery.
Many new machines were created which dwindled the responsibility on the slaves. One of these
inventions is the pulley, it lightened the weight when lifting heavy objects. The

Essay about Crack’s Effect on New York City
Crack s Effect on New York City
In the summer of 1985, New York City was introduced to the drug crack. The ensuing seventeen
years have culminated into some of the most turbulent, and crime ridden years in the history of
New York City. Crack is the street name for a form of cocaine introduced in the mid 1980s. Crack
is smoked, rather then sniffed through the nose, or injected, which are all other ways to use
cocaine. Users of the drug inhale the vapors that are given off when the crack is heated (Berger
pg.20). Crack cannot burn, and in order to give off the drugs vapors it must be heated to a very
high temperature. After the crack has been heated the user will proceed to inhale the vapors. The
drug will then pass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dr. Jeffery Rosecan, director of the Cocaine Abuse Treatment Program at Colombia Presbyterian
Medical Center often describes crack addicts, often called crack heads as follows, They first start to
suffer personality changes especially paranoia, then their lives start to fall apart, along with their
relationships and they move into a life of emotional extremes, crime, illness, and possibly death.
Crack users range from the Wall Street stockbroker to a homeless person living in Central Park,
but by and large this evil drug called crack had its biggest impact on New York s inner city
minority population. A New York doctor, Dr. Mark Gold who is the person who set up and
helps run the not for profit organization called 800 COCAINE, a hotline set up to help addicts
and perspective users answer questions about the drug and also offers counseling and drug
intervention services; suggested that his findings showed that, occasional users of crack quickly
increased, the amount and frequency of crack use until total dependency was achieved. Men and
women who were once law abiding citizens and honest people were now robbing and stealing to
pay for the drug, and many who once enjoyed good health were now suffering from a variety of
physical and mental aliments springing from their cocaine abuse. Crack brings along with its
amazing high, some ominous dangers. Dr. Robert Maslansky is the director of New York City s

Memory And Memory Of Computers
Memory
Have you ever wanted to know how certain files, documents and so on are being saved and what
led this to occur? The memory of computers is quite fascinating and there is so much that goes
into saving something on a computer. There are different types of memory that is found on
computers that is needed to make things work and that would be acceptable to the user. The main
two that is quite known in the computer world would be Primary and Secondary memory. There
are 2 types that make up the Primary memory and that would be Random Access Memory (RAM)
and Read only memory (ROM). The secondary memory consists of a hard disk drive, flash drive
and zip drive. There are also optical discs that are included.
One thing that is special in terms of computers would be the Primary memory. Primary memory
is divided into 2 types. The first type would be random access memory. RAM is in charge of
keeping data in a stored area so that it can be reached by the processor when necessary. RAM does
a really good job at laying away data in such a random basis. An article from the PC World have
shown that in this generation RAM has increased tremendously; it is said that A review of
systems that the PC World test center has grown from a little over 90 MB to about 2 GB, spiking
whenever Microsoft releases a new version of Windows (Stafford pg. 84). RAM has 2 forms, they
are Static RAM and Dynamic RAM. Static RAM

Westward Expansion Dbq Analysis
American Expansion DBQ Americans expanded their country in two different eras throughout
history: American imperialism and westward expansion. During both of these eras, the mid late
1800s and the early 1900s, Americans believed that expansion was necessary and beneficial. To a
great extent, late nineteenth century and early twentieth century United Statesexpansionism was a
continuation of past United States expansionism and to a lesser extent was it a departure. The
similarities and differences between American Imperialism in the early 1900s and Manifest
Destiny in the mid late 1800s are shown through political, economic, and moral motives of
America and its government. America wanted to establish itself as a global and political power on
the same level as major European nations. Germany, Britain and Russia pilfered through Africa and
Asia with their grab bags , believing that they can have and claim a piece of the world,... Show more

Resources such as sugar, coal, minerals, and other exotic natural assets caught the eyes of
American businessmen. According to Senator Albert J. Beveridge, the Pacific was the ocean of
the commerce of the future (document E). This is similar to how America saw the west as an
opportunity for farming and starting a new, prosperous life. Americans flocked to the Caribbean s
for resources just like they did to the west in the California gold rush and other parts of America
when valuable resources were available, such as iron ore and furs. While Americans were seeking
new economic opportunities and profits through expansion, the results of these two instances
different. Imperialism resulted in the rise as well as from the rise of big businesses such as the
Dole Fruit Company and trade overseas with new markets, while westward expansion saw growth
in new industries, smaller businesses, and domestic

Jake s Love
Jake contrasts his emotional attachment to Brett with her constant involvement with other men to
highlight the unavoidable struggle of coping with the the war, ultimately revealing the eternal scar
such a catastrophe leaves on soldiers and their loved ones. After suffering a war injury that renders
him impotent, Jake desperately tries to rekindle his romantic relationship with Brett to manage his
trauma and avoid loneliness, but eventually realizes that he himself must deal with the lasting
effect of the war. From the beginning, Jake shows his attraction to Brett when he sees her in a bar
and notes that she was damned good looking and was built with curves like the hull of a racing
yacht (30). Jake s particular attention to Brett hints... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Jake is intent on being with Brett, Brett shows her ambivalence from the start, when in the
cab ride after the bar she pulls away from Jake, saying that he mustn t because she can t stand it,
that s all (34). Although she loves Jake, Brett cannot bear to be with him because of his sexual
limitations. His impotence is a symbol of the war, and Brett alludes to the struggle of
maintaining a relationship amidst a war when she says I don t want to go through that hell
again (34). Brett does not want to leave Jake, but must in order to escape the memory of the war.
To fully escape, Brett distracts herself with men not involved in the war, spending time with
Count Mippippopolous, planning to marry Michael, and travelling to San Sebastian with Cohn.
Opposite from Jake, Brett s method of coping in the wake of the war is to run away from the
memory of it, even if that entails ending a relationship with someone she loves deeply. Brett s
efforts to escape become even clearer when she meets Pedro Romero in Pamplona, immediately
observing that That Romero lad is just a child (170). A young and fit Spanish bullfighter, Romero
is in know way reminiscent of the war and is nearly too young to have even been a soldier, which

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Vulnerability
Vulnerabilities in a system are weaknesses present in the system or lack of a counter measure
which has been placed to secure the system from exploitation and attack. The weakness of the
countermeasure could be related to hardware or software. Any procedural or human weakness can
also be exploited to threat the network setup. Basically a threat agent gives rise to a threat, which in
turn exploits the vulnerability that gives to a risk. Therefore it is important to safeguard the system
against the vulnerabilities to protect it from any type of attack.
Electromagnetic vulnerability is a system property that causes it to suffer a definite degradation
when subjected to electromagnetic environmental effects. The information leakages from computer

can be posed by the US army weapons or by the electronics systems in use.
A few vulnerabilities related to EM security in a national level are stated as follows:
1.Modern electric equipment shrinks in size which is a reason for increased vulnerability to
electromagnetic interference. This makes restoring difficult.
2.Communication method such as given in the scenario presented to us where the network setup has
components of the national level of network of client nodes, infrastructure and datacenters, such
communications are vulnerable to the damage or disruption of electronics in the nodes that access
the fiber channels.
3.Sensors used in the system are vulnerable to EM attacks.
4.The electronic systems in the network are also vulnerable to HPM attacks. The enemy can
comfortably blind forces to allow attacks by disabling key nodes in a sensor network for a
considerable time period. This vulnerability though is limited to a range and needs high energy

Historical Purpose Of Philomena
The film Philomena, directed by Stephen Frears, brings to light only a portion of the injustices
faced by unwed mothers in Ireland during the mid late 1900 s. Due to such heavy religious
regard in the State, if any girl was to get pregnant outside of wedlock, she would be forced to leave
her home and live in a convent, referred to as mother and baby homes, where she would endure
many sufferings which were hidden from the public eye. Among these miseries, the most
heartbreaking one would be the constant fear of the nuns selling your baby through an illegal
adoption and never seeing your own child again. After leaving the convent, many of these women
would hide their shame and keep this part of their life a secret.
The plot of this film follows the true story of a 19 year old girl, Philomena Lee, who suffered
such pain and a life of silence and sorrow after her child was taken from her in one of the many
illegal adoptions at the Roscrea Abbey, the convent where she was placed upon becoming
pregnant. The film was released in 2013 and takes place in present day Ireland as the, now, ... Show

This means that its original purpose was not to teach its audience about historical truths of the past,
but to entertain. Hollywood has a purpose, and that purpose is to make money. To do this,
filmmakers do not have a choice but to tinker with the history of our times. If a filmmaker was to
create an exact visual representation of the written history, the film would be quite boring.
Therefore, filmmakers must dramatize their works in order to create a successful movie that will
achieve its original purpose: to entertain while bringing in high revenue. In Philomena, Frears uses
intense lighting and dramatic music, among other features, to aid in this dramatization, adding

Taking each of these experiments into mind, my research group, consisting of Brian Muriithi,
Cade Curran, Champlin Janz, Eric Altilanochir, and myself, decided to conduct the same study
in 1951 with our own Asch Line experiment. The purpose of our experiment was similar to the
one of Asch s in 1951: to examine the extent of the effect social pressure from the majority of a
group has on a person. For this experiment, we drew a series of three different lines on different
sheets of poster paper. Two lines were similar, while one was radically different from the rest. For
each trial, we would place two confederates, which are stooges that have prior knowledge of the
experiment to help us collect data, in a room with a single participant. The... Show more content on

unorganized feeling of the room, two upperclassmen conducting the experiment on underclassmen,

ABC model (Farley, 2009). A, an activating event that one does not like; B, one s belief about A;
C, the consequence, in which one might experience healthy emotions and behavior or unhealthy
emotions and self defeating behavior, depending on whether one s beliefs are rational or

Gangs, are they good for our community?
Gangs, they re all around us,everywhere, and anywhere. How do us americans feel about gangs, and
their affects on our environment ? I m against gangs because of their affect on our youth. It affects
the youth causing distractions, peer pressure, and blocking opportunities for them. Gangs are one
of the top three causes of crime in America today. And gives America s crime system a lot of
difficulty with solving the problem. Gangs are and have always been apart of the crimes in

It s plenty of gangs in America but crips and bloods are the main issue and the ones drawing the
attention of the youth. Many of today s murders are caused between these two gangs for no reason.
Most of the teens and youth who join gangs don t really have a reason for why they joined them.
Either they respond with for protection or I don t know .( ruthless gangs). It turns out that, like
violence, gang membership is as much a public health problem as a criminal justice problem, .(

join a gang because of where you live. But they don t have to and they re killing people they don

because of wanting to fit in. Social media is one of the worse things in today s generation.Social

Even the colossal resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920 s can be associated with media.

The Relation Between Prostitution and Human Trafficking Essay
Although the world is made up of a variety of people, every person is entitled to basic rights.
According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, all human beings are born free and
equal. These rights apply to everyone throughout the world regardless of gender, race, religion,
sexual orientation, or age. However, although we are born with these rights, there have been many
cases throughout the world where people s human rights have been violated.

Ireland is familiar with prostitution. During the nineteenth century, in well known populated cities,
prostitution was apparent. According to William Logan, a mission worker visiting Ireland
claimed that the city of Cork had approximately eighty five brothels, which contained about 356
prostitutes collectively in the year of 1945. Logan also mentioned how young girls were sold by
family members for money. In 1870 the Garda (Ireland s police officials) instigated 11,864 women
because they were assumed to be prostitutes. During the 1800 s Magdalene asylums were also very
common. In Dublin specifically there were at least eleven workhouses, similar to the Magdalene
asylums, attempting to transform prostitutes into proper ladies (Luddy, 1997). The Dublin
Metropolitan Police (DMP) was not proactive during this time either. The DMP were only involved
in prostitution cases if it disrupted the public. The lack of government control over this issue is one
of the main influences that made human trafficking easily available in Ireland. However, it is
difficult to obtain research of trafficking. Before 2008, there have been no prosecuted cases on this
issue in Ireland (Coghlan and Wylie, 2011).

The US Army Signal Corps sent training teams to Vietnam, as well as provided training for

killing two Americans in 1959. It was during this time that the Army began using atmospheric
scatter technologies, bouncing radio waves off different layers of the atmosphere in order to
communicate beyond line of sight up to 400 miles away. (3) This system was modified to form the
tactical communications backbone for ground troops, where standard Army multi channel radios
were utilized in addition to the new troposcatter radios. Throughout the Vietnam Conflict, though,
communication between the geographically separated ground units and camps was improved
through the introduction of better radio equipment and radio retransmit systems. The milestone
achieved in the Vietnam Conflict, from a signal perspective, was the propagation of high quality
commercial communications to the Soldier in the field. In the years following the Vietnam

that the sign Gemini stands for the constellation of the twins so you could call them two faced .

wholeheartedly that is 90% 100% true for you. If you believe on the down low, just dabble here
and there, it is most likely 40% 60% true for you. Finally, if you don t believe at all it would only
be 0% 20% true for you. In some aspects it seems totally fake. The chance of everyone born in
the same month as you having similar traits to you is about as likely as evolution, it can t
happen. But if you think about it, I would say at least half of those people wouldn t believe in
astrology at all and maybe 20 ish% would just believe a little. Though that may be the case, I
would still say it is highly unlikely. Most of the tools used in reading your horoscope I believe

Astrology is definitely not irreducibly complex, and I could probably rip this apart piece by

are definitely not something you should believe, and they are most likely not done by someone
who knows what they re doing.

Tariffs on Imports
In simplest terms, a tariff is a tax. It adds to the cost of imported goods and is one of several trade
policies that a country can enact. Tariffs are often created to protect infant industries and
developing economies, but are also used by more advanced economies with developed industries.
Here are five of the top reasons tariffs are used: Protecting Domestic Employment The levying of
tariffs is often highly politicized. The possibility of increased competition from imported goods can
threaten domestic industries. These domestic companies may fire workers or shift production
abroad to cut costs, which means higher unemployment and a less happy electorate. The
unemployment argument often shifts to domestic industries complaining... Show more content on

The 15% is a price increase on the value of the automobile, so a $10,000 vehicle now costs
$11,500 to Japanese consumers. This price increase protects domestic producers from being
undercut, but also keeps prices artificially high for Japanese car shoppers. Non tariff barriers to
trade include: Licenses A license is granted to a business by the government, and allows the
business to import a certain type of good into the country. For example, there could be a
restriction on imported cheese, and licenses would be granted to certain companies allowing
them to act as importers. This creates a restriction on competition, and increases prices faced by
consumers. Import Quotas An import quota is a restriction placed on the amount of a particular
good that can be imported. This sort of barrier is often associated with the issuance of licenses.
For example, a country may place a quota on the volume of imported citrus fruit that is allowed.
Voluntary Export Restraints (VER) This type of trade barrier is voluntary in that it is created by
the exporting country rather than the importing one. A voluntary export restraint is usually
levied at the behest of the importing country, and could be accompanied by a reciprocal VER.
For example, Brazil could place a VER on the exportation of sugar to Canada, based on a request
by Canada. Canada could then place a VER on the exportation of coal to Brazil. This increases the
price of both coal and sugar, but protects the

Some of the more interesting things that we gained from reviewing the survey results was that
consumers would rather eat a chicken and spinach sandwich over a cupcake. The main reasons for
this was that a chicken and spinach sandwich would not only count as a proper meal but it s also a
healthier option than the cupcake. Another interesting thing that we found was that consumers feel
as though it is more expensive to eat healthy than it is to eat unhealthy. In the end, the most
interesting thing that we found from the survey was that consumers were divided on the fact that

Due to the fact that consumers had mixed opinions on the healthiness of organic food, we decided
that creating a quantitative research survey would serve as a good opportunity to find more

how some consumers feel eating organic food is heathier, while some consumers feel that eating

Joe Sacco Evaluating Visuals
Evaluating Visuals It s a visual world and people respond to visuals , Joe Sacco. Visuals add
power, interest and weight to a presentation. Visuals when added to a presentation not only help
present the information you are communicating, but also add color and emotion (Locker Kienzler,
2009). With the recent changes in technology, and how easy it is to create visuals now has resulted
presenters using visuals without thought about the purpose the visual is fulfilling. Visuals should
only be utilized when they meet a need or want of the audience (Locker Kienzler, 2009). Visuals in
a document or presentation should be utilized for three purposes: to make points vivid, to

The visuals message that fear of accidents is overblown given the actual causes of death for
Americans is clear. A graph is the correct choice for conveying this information, but the 3D bar
graph utilized can distort the information conveyed. For example, the graph has heart disease as
the base of the pyramid, which makes sense given that heart disease was the leading cause of
death for Americans in 2003. But, the graph has other diseases as the middle of the pyramid and
looks like that is the largest group given how large its segment is. This distorts the information
being presented. The breakdown in accidental causes of death as well as other diseases creates
chart junk. This information could have been present compellingly as a series of three separate
graphs (Locker Kienzler, 2009, p. 242). According to Hardin, Hom, Perez Williams (2012),

The Iraq And Iran War
The Iraq and Iran war in 1980 through 1988 started on September 22, 1980, which resulted in an
8 year war, 500,000 casualties, $600 billion debt accumulated, and many more factors. The Iraq
and Iran war strained Iraq s political, and social life. Also put Iraq s economy into severe
conditions. The 1980, 8 year war between Iraqand Iranwas fueled by many factors including border
disputes (geographical and economical), and Iraq s new dictator Saddam Hussein (political).
Saddam Hussein feared that the new Iranian leadership would threaten Iraq s Sunni Shia, and the
minimal access to the Persian Gulf. The war was multifaceted and had many religious schisms,
political differences, border disputes, ethnic disputes and a very personal fight between Saddam
Hussein and Ayatollah Khomeini. Iraq launched the war in effort to strengthen the rising power in
Iraq, and to replace Iran as the dominant Persian Gulf State. The most important factor to this war
was the fight over the Shatt al Arab waterway. The fight over the waterway goes all the way back
into the 7th century. Having said that, Iraq s leader, Saddam Hussein had large aspirations which
included expanding his country, and become the leading nation in the Middle East. Becoming the
leading nation in the Middle East required accomplishing the attack on Iran, gaining more oil fields,
the Shatt Al Arab (a waterway) and getting more power and land. Furthermore, in the months that
lead up to the start of the war, Iraq was getting

The Movie Ignorance Is Bliss
Is Ignorance Bliss?
Movies like Inception and theories like Hedonism often support the proverb Ignorance is Bliss ,
while movies like The Matrix and thought experiments like The Experience Machine often give
reasons about why that is not true. In this essay I will come to a conclusion based on my beliefs
by outlining a few of the arguments in each side. I will also give examples of times when ignorance
truly is bliss.
At the end of the movie Inception , we see Cobb return to his home. The moment he enters, he
takes the spinning top out of his pocket and spins it on a table. However, he does not wait long
enough to see if it will fall over, or stay spinning. The moment he sees his children, and his
children see him, he stops caring about how real his world is, and instead begins to make peace
with the world he is in. Cobb chooses a reality where he is happy, irrespective of it being real or
not. In the movie The Matrix , Cypher chooses to betray his friends to be relocated inside the
matrix as someone of importance, while also not remembering the existence of the real world.
He explains in the movie that he does this because he is tired of fighting and being in that ship,
and also tired of being cold and eating the same groop every day . I believe that Cypher has lost
all hope and he thinks that even if they succeed in bringing down the matrix, he wouldn t want to
live in a world of ruins. The word cipher has an alternative definition of a person of no

Brief History on Californian Ingenuous People We have all heard the story of how America came
to be, and how Native Americans were pushed out because of this. In regards to the west coast, the
history is a bit different. There is evidence of natives living in California since from at least 17,000
BCE. Prior to contact with Europeans, the California region contained the highest native American
population north of what is now Mexico. Because of the temperate climate and easy access to food
sources, approximately one third of all Native Americans in the United States were living in
California. The Spanish began their long term occupation in California in 1769. California and its
Spanish Colonization were different from earlier efforts to simultaneously introduce missionaries
and colonists in their world conquest schemes. Organized by the driven Franciscan administrator
Junipero Serra and military authorities under Gaspar de Portola, they journeyed to San Diego to
establish the first of 21 coastal missions. The Californian missions

Developing Agile Software Development Methodology
Introduction
Ever since the Agile Manifesto came into existence in 2001, it has led many agile software
development processes to spurt up. Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM), Extreme
Programming (XP), Feature Driven Development (FDD), SCRUM and Crystal Methodologies are
some of the most famous agile software development methodology famous today (Vlaanderen et.

been found that XP and scrum are the two most common agile methodologies used currently. In
their empirical research (DingsГёyr et. al, 2012) also found that most of the existing studies on
agile methodology focus on XP and there are very limited studies done on SCRUM. The
purpose of this literature review research is to analyze the existing research available on SCRUM
methodology. This literature review will provide a broad overview on various information
researchers are providing on agile software development methodology, keeping Scrum agile
methodology in the focal point. In addition, this literature review will also address the advantages
and disadvantages of SCRUM agile methodology. This research will help the audience to gaze over
the recent study over scrum and will help in making the decision whether Scrum is the right agile
methodology for their software development project.

Ackerman s writing on taste and vision is a very entertaining essay. The writing was easy to
follow and was written on an interesting topic, which everyone can relate to. The most
entertaining and informative parts were food and vision. I learned a great deal in that section
and was entertaining to learn how food and vision are so closely related. For example all the
different types of foods that are considered aphrodisiacs. Another entertaining section was the
part about food and its history. How the Egyptians thought very highly of the onion and swore
upon it as we do the bible. Overall this was a good essay it flowed nicely and was really easy to

2010 Chile Earthquake Case Study
Earthquake Case History:
2010 Mw = 8.8 Mega thrust Earthquake, Maule, Chile
5/2/13
By Travis Eddy
1. Introduction
In early 2010 central south Chile experienced a Mw = 8.8 earthquake and large tsunami waves that
devastated areas on the Chilean Pacific coast, nearby offshore islands, and areas near the epicenter.
In addition to the tsunami, the earthquake had many other geological consequences including
aftershocks, terrestrial and submarine land sliding, elevation changes, and a gravity shift. The
purpose of this paper is to discuss and analyze the earthquake, its consequences, the resulting
damages, and mitigation.
2. Geologic Setting

The most severe impacts were observed on the Chilean coastline adjacent to the epicenter from San
Antonio Tirua, and 670 km offshore on the Juan Fernandez Archipelago (Synolakis, 2011;
Yamazaki and Cheung, 2011). The tsunami hit many areas close to the epicenter within 30 minutes
of the main event, however due to bathymetry and coastline shape, tsunami directions, impacts, and
arrival times vary. (Synolakis, 2011; Yamazaki and Cheung, 2011). For example, Talcahuano
Harbor located in The Bay of Concepcion 100 kilometers south of the epicenter experienced an
impact from a resonated 129 minute period oscillating wave three hours after the main event
(Yamazaki and Cheung, 2011). Resonance such as this occurred in various areas along the Chilean
coastline, and was caused by standing and partial standing wave systems produced along the coast
due to wave reflection between the continental shelf and the headlands, resulting in radiated
tsunami energy to become trapped over the continental margin (Yamazaki and Cheung, 2011).
6. Land sliding
The main event caused both terrestrial and submarine land sliding to occur in the area. Around 30
slides were delineated, with a majority of them being submarine (Volker, et.al., 2011). These
submarine slides were confined to the walls of various submarine canyons, and were characterized
as thin transitional slides retrograding into open slopes adjacent to the canyons (Volker, et.al., 2011).

Essay on Historical Macbeth Compared To Shakespeares Macbeth
Although most of Shakespeare s play quot; Mac Beth quot; is not historically accurate, MacBeth s

real persons but, Shakespeare s quot;MacBeth quot; differs significantly from history s MacBeth.
The first example of a difference between the Shakespeare quot;MacBeth quot; and historical Mac

The Internet and Video Advertisement
A print advertisement is normally described as a newspaper, catalog, or magazine. Print
advertising is one of the many drives for getting your post or message across to your general
audience. Print advertisement is one of the most used ways and is one of the most used methods
that has been effective. Print advertisement is known for working because the readers can see the
products and actually read up on the product and find out the phone number, fax number, email
address, and point of contact. In most print advertisements, the image has to be very strong and
catchy and sometimes humorous. In a print advertisement, if it is humorous it is another effective
way to engage the audience and the audience is more willing to pay attention.
Video advertising is an online display that occurs on the internet. It is usually played before, during,
or after a video stream. Internet websites like sky.com and itv.com have video advertising on their
sites. In 2010, video advertising accounted for almost 13% of videos watched. Interaction within
video advertisements online moves costumers to research the product or material more and they
then are willing to buy what is being advertisement. It has been proven that 85% of video
advertisements online are not achieving their goal to consumers, making the video advertisements
worthless. Choosing the right video advertisement can mean so much for the product and the
company.

Kyoto Protocol And Global Warming
In December 1997, Kyoto protocol was signed to address global warming specifically. Global
warming is the gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth s atmosphere and its
oceans due to green house gases emissions. (NRDC, 2005) In the past 100 years, the rate of global
warming is unprecedented. In fact, global warminghas become one of the most challenging
environmental problems in the 21st century. In order to effectively address this issue, international
cooperation is necessary. Through international cooperation, undeveloped countries are able to
overcome financial obstacles in meeting their targets. In addition, it could also promote worldwide

For starters, modern economy relies heavily on fossil fuels, which is a main resource that
contributes to global warming. Adopting renewable energy might sharply reduce GHG
emissions. However, according to international energy agency, switching from fossil fuels to
low carbon sources of energy will cost $44 trillion between now and 2050 (IEA, 2009). In case
44 trillion is too abstract, 1 trillion dollar can fill up an entire soccer field and stack more than
10 feet high. This cost could be intimidating for any country. Moreover, the cost also depends on
how long it takes for us to start reducing emissions. The IPCC report showed that continuing to
hold off on reducing emissions could increase costs by 40 percent (IPCC, 2008) For developing
countries, this cost would be a financial burden and a limiting reagent on GDP growth. Socially,
civilian s life quality will be affected by the GDP reduction. As a result, it becomes more
challenging for countries to take initiative in addressing this problem. The question eventually came
down to whom should bear the astronomical cost? Are we willing to invest in something that might
cost more than its benefits?
Evaluation on its Successfulness
The achievements of Kyoto Protocol have been controversial. Nevertheless, the agreement has had
a mix of success. In order to evaluate its successfulness, we need data of the emission level of

Sleep Analysis Essay On Sleep
Sleep Analysis As we learned in lecture, sleep is an important component in improving a person
s overall health. Because sleep is vital for cognitive function and available time to spend
sleeping is limited for college students, like myself, it is advantageous to change sleeping
behaviors to maximize the benefits sleep can provide. After tracking my sleeping schedule for a
week, I have noticed some patterns and behavior that may be affecting the quality of sleep I am
getting. Based on my sleep journal, I could improve my sleep by cutting back on the amount of
caffeine I intake and the time spent on electronics before bed to try to reduce the amount of time
needed for me to fall asleep. I tracked my sleep for one week early on in the semester when I was
less busy and able to get more sleep, however the overall patterns in how I felt when waking up
and trouble falling asleep have remained mostly the same. In this particular week, I got an
average of about nine hours of sleep per weeknight. The recommended amount of sleep per night
is between eight to nine hours (Teague 77). I would say I need at least eight full hours of sleep a
night to feel like I am well rested. I did not occur a sleep debt during this week, however I have
experienced weeks were I did accumulate a sleep debt. When this occurs, I usually try to make up
for it by sleeping in on the weekends rather than napping. I have found that taking naps isn t an

Essay On The Confessions By St. Augustine
In St. Augustine s The Confessions, St. Augustine discusses his interpretation of evil and the ways
in which it changed throughout the course of his life. Prior to becoming a Christian, Augustine
viewed evil from the Manichean perspective as a substance or mass that opposed good. Later in
life, when Augustine converted to Christianity, he discovered that evil was not a substance, but
rather the absence of good. I found Augustine s Christian view of evil helpful in understanding real
life evils because it provides optimism in that it shows that everything was made for good. St.
Augustine first began investigating evil in Carthage when he stumbled upon the Manicheans. At
this point in Augustine s life, he was in search of truth and began exploring different philosophies
that would provide him with answers. After observing the beliefs of the Manicheans, Augustine
found their views enlightening and started incorporating their ideas into his own life. The
Manicheans believed evil was a substance that opposed good. Augustine describes how they
envisioned evil as a dark, deformed mass, [] creeping about through the earth (5.10.20). They
challenged the Christian belief that Godwas all powerful by saying that if this were true, then evil
would not exist because God would have destroyed it. These views repelled Augustine from the
Catholic faith. When reflecting on these views later in life, Augustine explains their flaws and how
his power of sight was restricted to seeing

school. A Texas honor student gets sent home for wearing yoga pants and an oversize tee shirt. I
honestly do not see how yoga pants and an oversized tee shirt would be seen as a distraction.
Kids come to school to learn not to be in trouble because of what they wear. Although there are
several examples of females being singled out based on their attire, there are many instances of
females purposefully dressed

The Devastation of the Indies and Movie The Mission Essay
The Devastation of the Indies and Movie The Mission
The Mission and Bartolome De Las Casas book, The Devestation of the Indies
Although The Mission and BartolomГ© De Las Casas book, The Devastation of the Indies portray
events that took place over two centuries apart, similar features and effects of colonization are
apparent in each account. Slight differences in viewpoints are evident, such as The Mission s
portrayal of the natives in a more humane fashion, but this goes along with the evolution of time
and the current trend of being politically correct. In other words, people today have broader views
on issues, are more unbiased in their reasoning, and are careful not to offend others. Whether efforts

Similar in theme, Roland JoffГ© s film, The Mission, portrays an eighteenth century South America
in which there are two opposing colonial forces. On one side there are imperialist plunderers , both
Spaniards and the Portuguese, who want to get rich and are ready and willing to utilize any method
possible in order to fulfill their insatiable desire for riches including slavery and the massacre of the
natives. On the other hand, there are Jesuit missionaries who desire to peacefully convert the
natives to Christianity. (Ebert, http://www.suntimes.com/ebert) An interesting connection that can
be made between the life of BartolomГ© De Las Casas and a character in The Mission is with
Robert De Niro s character, Mandosa. At one time Captain Mandosa was in charge of massacres
of natives and owned many slaves, but after he killed his brother out of jealousy for his brother s
lover, he repented his sins by joining the priesthood and helping the mission attain their goals. This
has similarities with how De Las Casas got involved in working for the plight of the Indians.
It can be speculated that The Mission has several sources of influence that culminated in its
production and release in 1986. Since it is not possible for Roland JoffГ©, producer of The
Mission or anyone on his staff to have first hand knowledge of the

The Importance of Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate social responsibility is paramount in any organization. It involves the need for a
corporate organization to go beyond what may be required by regulators or environmental
protection groups and manage the business processes to produce an overall positive impact on
society. Corporate take it upon themselves and come up with an initiative to assess and take
responsibility for the company s effects on the environmentand impact on social welfare. This may
involve incurring short term costs that do not provide an immediate financial benefit to the
company, but instead promotes positive social and environmental change (Crowther Aras 2008).
Our founder Bill Gateshas set an exemplary model through the creation of Bill Gates Melinda
Foundation that has lifted the lives of many poverty stricken people throughout the world. It is in
line with this noble initiative by our founder that we are working to uphold the precedents set by
our founder that we are setting out to launch the proposed (CRS) dubbed The Green Hills Initiative .
The Green hill initiative is a project that will involve planting trees in the Olympic forest near the
Olympic Peninsula. This is a project that will socially benefit the community near Redmond,
Washington, where the Microsoftheadquarters is located. With the increased consumer awareness
on the various environmental issues, companies are made to take up proactive steps in supporting
green initiatives ( Corporate Programs , n.d.). This by all

If an intervening mass can align perfectly with a background source then it will bend the light
creating a ring of light around the object. This is known as Einstein s ring and depending on the
mass of the object will determine the size of the ring, a larger mass results in a larger ring.
(Richmond, 2015)
Our universe is 85% dark matter, dark matter may be invisible but it still has mass and therefore
when light travels towards it, it will bend around them matter causing gravitational lensing. All
objects can bend light but usually the change is not measurable on smaller objects such as humans,
for any substantial bend to occur it would take a huge mass and a light ray to travel extremely
close to the matter. When the light bends it can alters the shape of the image, with a galaxyfor
example it can bend or warp the shape which is normally elliptical or spiral looking. (Grocutt, 2015)
An accretion disk is formed when rocks, gasses and other satellites travel close to a black hole;
they are sucked into the gravitational field (StrongGravity, 2013). A black hole is a place in
space where the gravitational field is so great that not even light can escape it. This is because
matter has been compressed into such a confined space; this can occur when a star is dying for
example (Smith, 2008). Once trapped in the gravitational field the rocks and

the Eastern Turks in 630, established friendly relations with the Western Turks and vanquished
Gaochang (Turpan), Yanqi (Qarashar) and Qiuci (now Kuche). Our question that we used is why
was the Tang Dynasty the most powerful dynasty in the world? The Tang Dynasty is the most
powerful dynasty why and how did they become the most powerful dynasty? After the Anshi
Rebellion broke out the turning point of Tang Dynasty from prosperity to decline, the road started
on its downhill path. The western regions were successively controlled by the Tubo (Tibetan
Empire), Uyghurs (Huihu) and the Karakhan Empire. With its prosperity, many boomtowns and
market centers appeared along the Northern Route. In 702, the Protectorate General of Beiting was
installed with its administration center in Tingzhou (Jimsar), managing the Northern Route of the

Canada s Role in the world since 1945
Canada has played a big role in the world since 1945 and this role has continued to this very day.
Canada is still to this day being viewed as a peacekeeping nation because of its efforts and
contributions in organizations like the United Nations, NATO and NORAD. These have given
Canada a bigger and more important role in the world.Canada has made considerable
contributions in organizations such as the UN, NATO and NORAD. The United Nations, is a
organization that promotes social and economic progress and also focuses on peace world wide.
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO, was formed in 1949 and was focused on
protecting Western European countries from a possible of invasion by the Soviet Union. The North
American Defence System, or NORAD, was an agreement created in 1957 between Canada and the
United States. This agreement was made to stop the threat of Soviet attack on North America. The
United Nations was formed in April of 1945 and consisted of 50 countries that all shared the same
ideals and basic goals. The four basic goals of the United Nations are; maintaining world peace and

How Did George Orwell Influence The Rise Of Communism
Best distinguished by his cautionary novels on the rise of communism, George Orwell was
frequently influenced by his up bringing, careers, and experiences fighting fascism. Born Eric
Arthur Blair, George Orwell was born in British India to a family he would later famously
described as lower upper middle class . Academically inclined, he was able to obtain a scholarship
to St. Cyprian s, one of the best preparatory schools in England, although he often showed loathing
towards the strict policies and teachers at the school. However, in later years of school his
academic interest slipped and with it his grades. With little options George Orwelljoined the Indian

These kinds of meetings will take place in an office room and when there will be a set date and
time for this. The way this kind or research will be carried out is by setting up an application for
a job role and then waiting for the applicants to apply. Once they have applied to the role you will
then need to invite them in for an interview. You will do this type of research when you need to
find an employee or if you need to interview someone for particular information.
Doing interviews has many advantages such as they are useful to obtain detailed information
about feelings because you will be able to see how that person reacts to your questions, you are
able to ask more detailed questions, they have a high response rate and the interviewees won t be
influenced by others.
With advantages there comes disadvantages such as they are very time consuming and they can be
costly.
Surveying is also a form of primary research and it is a good way to discover what a large
amount of people think about a particular subject and you can cover a wider range. Businesses
will use this method of research. The reason they will use this method is because it is able to
cover a large quantity of people and what their views are on a particular issue. This kind of
research can be created on the computer and then

tells of the protagonist named Pip who is very obsequious at first but after a series of challenging
events, he grows into a very auspicious hero. The novel can distinctly be divided into three stages,
ignorance of life, growth to knowledge and peace with life.
At first, Pip is an abject, shy individual that does not hold his head up. I have particular reasons
for wanting to be a gentleman. (pg 135) This quote shows when Pip first starts out and doesn t
even want to show people his true colors, showing the ignorance of life and the ignorance to what
his true potentials could be. As the novel progresses, Pip begins to find his inner strength and

Creativity in Advertising
* CHAPTER 1. * ADVERTISING.
1.1 Origin of advertising
The origin of advertising does not lie in the modern industrial age, but it has its roots in the remote
past. Thousand of years ago most people were engaged in hunting, farming, or handicraft related
activities. They used to barter products among themselves. Distribution was limited to how far the
vendor could walk and distribute, advertising was limited to how loud they could shout. Perhaps the
earliest form of advertising was simply the trader shouting out the fact that he existed and naming
what he had to sell in the local market place.
As an instrument of marketing, advertising was an effective through multiple sales people reaching

distribution. Advertising plays a crucial role to ensure smooth distribution of goods and keep the
consumers well informed.
* Advertising and Promotion:
Promotion is perhaps the most important element in the marketing mix. Companies introduce sales
promotion campaigns for capturing market. Price discounts and schemes like buy one, get one
free are also offered as sales promotion. Various sales promotion techniques are introduced at the
consumer and dealer levels. Window display, provision of after sales services and coordinal public
relations also facilitate sales promotion. Massive advertising is useful to support the sales
promotion campaigns.
1.4 AIDA Formula in Advertising
The AIDA formula in advertising was suggested by E.K. Strong in his book the psychology of

The Effect Of Metal Chelation On Latin
Introduction
Chelate means claw in Latin. Metal Chelation is a process when a polyvalent metal ion form
covalent bonds with a drug and binds tightly to form a 5 or 6 membered ring. 5 and 6 membered
ring structure are very stable because their bond angle has no ring strain. Thus, when a compound
is chelated, it will not be able to pass through the biological membrane, in another words, it will not
be metabolise by the body but to be pass through the renal without being absorbed and being
excreted though urine. Essential metal such as magnesium, iron, calcium and zinc are easily found
in many food source and is vital to be included as part of our diet as these trace elements are
helping our body enzymes, hormones and cells to work. Insufficient intake of trace minerals can
cause symptoms of nutritional deficiency. (Glusker,1999) At certain times, these metal are also use
as an active ingredient or excipients in pharmaceutical industry.
Chelation of Alendroic Acid with Calcium
Alendronic acid is a bisphosphonate drug that is used to inhibit osteoclastic bone resorption .it
works by attaching to hydroxyapatite binding sites to impair the ability of the osteoclasts to
produce the protons necessary for continued bone resorption. It also inhibit osteoclast activity by
promoting osteoclast apoptosis. (pubmed ) Patient group who are mostly taking this medication are
postmenopausal women. As women reaches their menopausal age, oestrogen starts to deplete

Recent Medical Discoveries In Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva Disease
Abstract
Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva disease also known as FOP is a rare genetic disease of the
connective tissue. FOP can be characterized by malformations of the big toe. This malformation is a
characteristic feature that helps distinguish the disease from other muscle and bone issues. It is a
disease that is caused by a mutation in the bodies repair mechanism. This causes muscle and
connective tissue such as ligaments and tendons, to be ossified spontaneously or when they are
damaged. Sometimes the bone can be permanently frozen in place in some cases. FOP is usually
seen in early childhood it starts with the neck and shoulder and proceeds down the body and into
the limbs. People who suffer from FOP are basically imprisoned by their own skeleton. Majority
of FOP cases are sporadic and are a result from a new gene mutation (Lerardi Curto and Lynne).
This mutation is an autosomal dominant disorder; this means it affects those who are heterozygous
with a homozygous recessive partner because of this it means their children will have a fifty
percent chance of having FOP. Most cases of FOP are a result from new mutations in the gene.
People who have FOP and have the heterozygous phenotype have less severe affects than those who
have the homozygous dominant phenotype. Patients who have FOB have the ossification gene that
is still working in their bodies and it is usually turned off after a

Mental Illness History
Mental illness is something we have been trying to treat since the beginning of civilization. Many
different approaches have been used, everything from physical surgeries to spiritual healing. But
most recently, medicines have been the most popular form of treatment. As time has gone on,
pharmaceuticals have become safer and more efficient, with less side effects, and therefore, more
ethical to use. Throughout all aspects of ethics, the good sides of using medicines to treat mental
illnesses far outweigh the bad. The history of treating mental illnesses dates as far back as 5000

Side effects are a big one, with many patients experiencing them. For example, [a]bout 75% of
people who take lithium for bipolar disorder have some side effects, although they may be minor
(WebMD.com). So that means 3 out of 4 people, which is a large amount. Although the severity
varies, side effects can still be annoying, making it a 7. Along with side effects, psychiatric drugs
are often grouped into classes. It s generally thought that if a few drugs don t work from one
class of drugs then the entire class won t work. SSRIs ease depression by increasing levels of
serotonin in the brain ... SSRIs are called selective because they seem to primarily affect
serotonin, not other neurotransmitters (Mayoclinic.org). So if Zoloft and Celexa don t work,
Lexapro probably won t either; this is a 4, because many classes are available. Something else to
think about is the skill of the doctor prescribing the medicine. Many general practitioners don t
have much experience in psychiatric conditions, making misdiagnosis common. As per the survey
taken by the National Depressive and Manic Depressive Association (DMDA), 69 percent of
patients with bipolar disorder are misdiagnosed initially (Singh, Rajput). This makes misdiagnosis a

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of The Industrial Revolution A series of agricultural advancements were made throughout 18th century Britain that improved cultivation methods and allowed for more efficient crop production that helped pay off much of the country s debt and create a more stable and affordable diet for everyone. These improvements paved the way for many other revolutions to occur such as the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution made manual labor much easier through the use of machines. The high demand for the products Britain was producing called for many workers and machines to meet the need. It created many jobs and allowed anyone willing to work to make a sufficient living During the Industrial Revolution many new technologies were made that helped to expedite the production of goods in high demand. Since Britain was producing these goods at a faster rate they were able to meet the needs and supply surrounding areas with the goods. Britain was able to make a good profit off of these goods because of how high the demand was for them. Textiles were one of the products most requested because the people wanted more clothing options. Textiles were previously made from woolen cloth until they discovered cotton was more efficient. The more popular cotton was becoming, the more workers needed, as a result landowners turned to slavery. Many new machines were created which dwindled the responsibility on the slaves. One of these inventions is the pulley, it lightened the weight when lifting heavy objects. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about Crack’s Effect on New York City Crack s Effect on New York City In the summer of 1985, New York City was introduced to the drug crack. The ensuing seventeen years have culminated into some of the most turbulent, and crime ridden years in the history of New York City. Crack is the street name for a form of cocaine introduced in the mid 1980s. Crack is smoked, rather then sniffed through the nose, or injected, which are all other ways to use cocaine. Users of the drug inhale the vapors that are given off when the crack is heated (Berger pg.20). Crack cannot burn, and in order to give off the drugs vapors it must be heated to a very high temperature. After the crack has been heated the user will proceed to inhale the vapors. The drug will then pass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dr. Jeffery Rosecan, director of the Cocaine Abuse Treatment Program at Colombia Presbyterian Medical Center often describes crack addicts, often called crack heads as follows, They first start to suffer personality changes especially paranoia, then their lives start to fall apart, along with their relationships and they move into a life of emotional extremes, crime, illness, and possibly death. Crack users range from the Wall Street stockbroker to a homeless person living in Central Park, but by and large this evil drug called crack had its biggest impact on New York s inner city minority population. A New York doctor, Dr. Mark Gold who is the person who set up and helps run the not for profit organization called 800 COCAINE, a hotline set up to help addicts and perspective users answer questions about the drug and also offers counseling and drug intervention services; suggested that his findings showed that, occasional users of crack quickly increased, the amount and frequency of crack use until total dependency was achieved. Men and women who were once law abiding citizens and honest people were now robbing and stealing to pay for the drug, and many who once enjoyed good health were now suffering from a variety of physical and mental aliments springing from their cocaine abuse. Crack brings along with its amazing high, some ominous dangers. Dr. Robert Maslansky is the director of New York City s Bellevue Hospital ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Memory And Memory Of Computers Memory Have you ever wanted to know how certain files, documents and so on are being saved and what led this to occur? The memory of computers is quite fascinating and there is so much that goes into saving something on a computer. There are different types of memory that is found on computers that is needed to make things work and that would be acceptable to the user. The main two that is quite known in the computer world would be Primary and Secondary memory. There are 2 types that make up the Primary memory and that would be Random Access Memory (RAM) and Read only memory (ROM). The secondary memory consists of a hard disk drive, flash drive and zip drive. There are also optical discs that are included. One thing that is special in terms of computers would be the Primary memory. Primary memory is divided into 2 types. The first type would be random access memory. RAM is in charge of keeping data in a stored area so that it can be reached by the processor when necessary. RAM does a really good job at laying away data in such a random basis. An article from the PC World have shown that in this generation RAM has increased tremendously; it is said that A review of systems that the PC World test center has grown from a little over 90 MB to about 2 GB, spiking whenever Microsoft releases a new version of Windows (Stafford pg. 84). • 6. Westward Expansion Dbq Analysis American Expansion DBQ Americans expanded their country in two different eras throughout history: American imperialism and westward expansion. During both of these eras, the mid late 1800s and the early 1900s, Americans believed that expansion was necessary and beneficial. To a great extent, late nineteenth century and early twentieth century United Statesexpansionism was a continuation of past United States expansionism and to a lesser extent was it a departure. The similarities and differences between American Imperialism in the early 1900s and Manifest Destiny in the mid late 1800s are shown through political, economic, and moral motives of America and its government. America wanted to establish itself as a global and political power on the same level as major European nations. Resources such as sugar, coal, minerals, and other exotic natural assets caught the eyes of American businessmen. According to Senator Albert J. Beveridge, the Pacific was the ocean of the commerce of the future (document E). This is similar to how America saw the west as an opportunity for farming and starting a new, prosperous life. Americans flocked to the Caribbean s for resources just like they did to the west in the California gold rush and other parts of America when valuable resources were available, such as iron ore and furs. While Americans were seeking new economic opportunities and profits through expansion, the results of these two instances different. Jake s Love Jake contrasts his emotional attachment to Brett with her constant involvement with other men to highlight the unavoidable struggle of coping with the the war, ultimately revealing the eternal scar such a catastrophe leaves on soldiers and their loved ones. After suffering a war injury that renders him impotent, Jake desperately tries to rekindle his romantic relationship with Brett to manage his trauma and avoid loneliness, but eventually realizes that he himself must deal with the lasting effect of the war. From the beginning, Jake shows his attraction to Brett when he sees her in a bar and notes that she was damned good looking and was built with curves like the hull of a racing yacht (30). While Jake is intent on being with Brett, Brett shows her ambivalence from the start, when in the cab ride after the bar she pulls away from Jake, saying that he mustn t because she can t stand it, that s all (34). Although she loves Jake, Brett cannot bear to be with him because of his sexual limitations. His impotence is a symbol of the war, and Brett alludes to the struggle of maintaining a relationship amidst a war when she says I don t want to go through that hell again (34). Brett does not want to leave Jake, but must in order to escape the memory of the war. To fully escape, Brett distracts herself with men not involved in the war, spending time with Count Mippippopolous, planning to marry Michael, and travelling to San Sebastian with Cohn. Opposite from Jake, Brett s method of coping in the wake of the war is to run away from the memory of it, even if that entails ending a relationship with someone she loves deeply. Brett s efforts to escape become even clearer when she meets Pedro Romero in Pamplona, immediately observing that That Romero lad is just a child (170). Advantages And Disadvantages Of Vulnerability Vulnerabilities in a system are weaknesses present in the system or lack of a counter measure which has been placed to secure the system from exploitation and attack. The weakness of the countermeasure could be related to hardware or software. Any procedural or human weakness can also be exploited to threat the network setup. Basically a threat agent gives rise to a threat, which in turn exploits the vulnerability that gives to a risk. • 9. Historical Purpose Of Philomena The film Philomena, directed by Stephen Frears, brings to light only a portion of the injustices faced by unwed mothers in Ireland during the mid late 1900 s. Due to such heavy religious regard in the State, if any girl was to get pregnant outside of wedlock, she would be forced to leave her home and live in a convent, referred to as mother and baby homes, where she would endure many sufferings which were hidden from the public eye. Among these miseries, the most heartbreaking one would be the constant fear of the nuns selling your baby through an illegal adoption and never seeing your own child again. After leaving the convent, many of these women would hide their shame and keep this part of their life a secret. The plot of this film follows the true story of a 19 year old girl, Philomena Lee, who suffered such pain and a life of silence and sorrow after her child was taken from her in one of the many illegal adoptions at the Roscrea Abbey, the convent where she was placed upon becoming pregnant. To do this, filmmakers do not have a choice but to tinker with the history of our times. If a filmmaker was to create an exact visual representation of the written history, the film would be quite boring. Therefore, filmmakers must dramatize their works in order to create a successful movie that will achieve its original purpose: to entertain while bringing in high revenue. Asch Line Experiment Paper Taking each of these experiments into mind, my research group, consisting of Brian Muriithi, Cade Curran, Champlin Janz, Eric Altilanochir, and myself, decided to conduct the same study in 1951 with our own Asch Line experiment. The purpose of our experiment was similar to the one of Asch s in 1951: to examine the extent of the effect social pressure from the majority of a group has on a person. For this experiment, we drew a series of three different lines on different sheets of poster paper. Two lines were similar, while one was radically different from the rest. We can t change the past, so we change how people are thinking, feeling and behaving today (Albert Ellis, 2001 2015, BrainyQuote). Albert Ellis, originator of rational emotive behavior therapy, was considered one of the most powerful psychotherapist of all time. He was said to be the founder of cognitive behavorial therapy but it was those days before him that made him the man he was and everyone loved (Spiritus temporis, 2004 2015). By doing that, he confronted them with their irrational beliefs. This allowed him to be himself (Albert Ellis Institution, 2014). REBT is directed towards having people live and lead happier lives. It was formally known as Rational Therapy. To better understand REBT, Ellis used the ABC model (Farley, 2009). A, an activating event that one does not like; B, one s belief about A; C, the consequence, in which one might experience healthy emotions and behavior or unhealthy emotions and self defeating behavior, depending on whether one s beliefs are rational or irrational. During the nineteenth century, in well known populated cities, prostitution was apparent. According to William Logan, a mission worker visiting Ireland claimed that the city of Cork had approximately eighty five brothels, which contained about 356 prostitutes collectively in the year of 1945. Logan also mentioned how young girls were sold by family members for money. In 1870 the Garda (Ireland s police officials) instigated 11,864 women because they were assumed to be prostitutes. During the 1800 s Magdalene asylums were also very common. In Dublin specifically there were at least eleven workhouses, similar to the Magdalene asylums, attempting to transform prostitutes into proper ladies (Luddy, 1997). The Dublin Metropolitan Police (DMP) was not proactive during this time either. The DMP were only involved in prostitution cases if it disrupted the public. The lack of government control over this issue is one of the main influences that made human trafficking easily available in Ireland. However, it is difficult to obtain research of trafficking. Tariffs are often created to protect infant industries and developing economies, but are also used by more advanced economies with developed industries. Here are five of the top reasons tariffs are used: Protecting Domestic Employment The levying of tariffs is often highly politicized. The possibility of increased competition from imported goods can threaten domestic industries. These domestic companies may fire workers or shift production abroad to cut costs, which means higher unemployment and a less happy electorate. Non tariff barriers to trade include: Licenses A license is granted to a business by the government, and allows the business to import a certain type of good into the country. For example, there could be a restriction on imported cheese, and licenses would be granted to certain companies allowing them to act as importers. This creates a restriction on competition, and increases prices faced by consumers. Import Quotas An import quota is a restriction placed on the amount of a particular good that can be imported. This sort of barrier is often associated with the issuance of licenses. For example, a country may place a quota on the volume of imported citrus fruit that is allowed. Voluntary Export Restraints (VER) This type of trade barrier is voluntary in that it is created by the exporting country rather than the importing one. A voluntary export restraint is usually levied at the behest of the importing country, and could be accompanied by a reciprocal VER. After analyzing the results of the survey, we were able to get a better insight of the perceptions and preferences that consumers have when it comes to eating and purchasing healthy food. Some of the more interesting things that we gained from reviewing the survey results was that consumers would rather eat a chicken and spinach sandwich over a cupcake. The main reasons for this was that a chicken and spinach sandwich would not only count as a proper meal but it s also a healthier option than the cupcake. Another interesting thing that we found was that consumers feel as though it is more expensive to eat healthy than it is to eat unhealthy. Recent evidence has shown that technological advances in the equipment utilized for ECPR and an enhanced knowledge base have improved the outcomes for CA patients treated with ECPR. • 31. Biblical Overtones In East Of Eden, By John Steinbeck The novel, East of Eden, features Biblical overtones from the stories of Genesis. The novel was written by John Steinbeck and turned into a film by Elia Kazan in 1955. Kazan s purpose was to show how the Bible could influence media and culture. The film was released on April 10th, 1955 and featured James Deanas Cal, Richard Davalos as Aron, Julie Harris as Abra, Raymond Massey as Adam, and Jo Van Fleet as Kate. East of Eden is set in the time before and after America joined World War I. The Trask family, who lives in Salinas Valley, is trying to make it through the tumultuous times. Cal is the youngest son and sees himself as the black sheep of the family, due to his tendency to be bad and rebellious. Cal is always competing with his older brother Aron, who seems to be perfect in every way. Aron is their father s favorite and Cal desperately wants their father s love and affection. After his father loses most of his money trying to ship lettuce surrounded by ice to New York, Cal decides to invest into the crop of beans and makes a small fortune. • 32. Kyoto Protocol And Global Warming In December 1997, Kyoto protocol was signed to address global warming specifically. Global warming is the gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth s atmosphere and its oceans due to green house gases emissions. (NRDC, 2005) In the past 100 years, the rate of global warming is unprecedented. In fact, global warminghas become one of the most challenging environmental problems in the 21st century. In order to effectively address this issue, international cooperation is necessary. Through international cooperation, undeveloped countries are able to overcome financial obstacles in meeting their targets. In addition, it could also promote worldwide technology sharing, data foundations and public awareness of climate change.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For starters, modern economy relies heavily on fossil fuels, which is a main resource that contributes to global warming. Adopting renewable energy might sharply reduce GHG emissions. However, according to international energy agency, switching from fossil fuels to low carbon sources of energy will cost $44 trillion between now and 2050 (IEA, 2009). In case 44 trillion is too abstract, 1 trillion dollar can fill up an entire soccer field and stack more than 10 feet high. This cost could be intimidating for any country. Moreover, the cost also depends on how long it takes for us to start reducing emissions. The IPCC report showed that continuing to hold off on reducing emissions could increase costs by 40 percent (IPCC, 2008) For developing countries, this cost would be a financial burden and a limiting reagent on GDP growth. Socially, civilian s life quality will be affected by the GDP reduction. As a result, it becomes more challenging for countries to take initiative in addressing this problem. The question eventually came down to whom should bear the astronomical cost? Are we willing to invest in something that might cost more than its benefits? Evaluation on its Successfulness The achievements of Kyoto Protocol have been controversial. Nevertheless, the agreement has had a mix of success. In order to evaluate its successfulness, we need data of the emission level of Annex I parties from 1990 to 2012 explicitly. As a result, the United States did not ratify the ... Because sleep is vital for cognitive function and available time to spend sleeping is limited for college students, like myself, it is advantageous to change sleeping behaviors to maximize the benefits sleep can provide. After tracking my sleeping schedule for a week, I have noticed some patterns and behavior that may be affecting the quality of sleep I am getting. Based on my sleep journal, I could improve my sleep by cutting back on the amount of caffeine I intake and the time spent on electronics before bed to try to reduce the amount of time needed for me to fall asleep. I tracked my sleep for one week early on in the semester when I was less busy and able to get more sleep, however the overall patterns in how I felt when waking up and trouble falling asleep have remained mostly the same. In this particular week, I got an average of about nine hours of sleep per weeknight. The recommended amount of sleep per night is between eight to nine hours (Teague 77). I would say I need at least eight full hours of sleep a night to feel like I am well rested. I did not occur a sleep debt during this week, however I have experienced weeks were I did accumulate a sleep debt. When this occurs, I usually try to make up for it by sleeping in on the weekends rather than napping. I have found that taking naps isn t an effective way for me to reduce my sleep debt because I ... • 35. Essay On The Confessions By St. Augustine In St. Augustine s The Confessions, St. Augustine discusses his interpretation of evil and the ways in which it changed throughout the course of his life. Prior to becoming a Christian, Augustine viewed evil from the Manichean perspective as a substance or mass that opposed good. Later in life, when Augustine converted to Christianity, he discovered that evil was not a substance, but rather the absence of good. I found Augustine s Christian view of evil helpful in understanding real life evils because it provides optimism in that it shows that everything was made for good. St. Augustine first began investigating evil in Carthage when he stumbled upon the Manicheans. At this point in Augustine s life, he was in search of truth and began exploring different philosophies that would provide him with answers. After observing the beliefs of the Manicheans, Augustine found their views enlightening and started incorporating their ideas into his own life. The Manicheans believed evil was a substance that opposed good. Augustine describes how they envisioned evil as a dark, deformed mass, [] creeping about through the earth (5.10.20). They challenged the Christian belief that Godwas all powerful by saying that if this were true, then evil would not exist because God would have destroyed it. These views repelled Augustine from the Catholic faith. When reflecting on these views later in life, Augustine explains their flaws and how his power of sight was restricted to seeing ... • 53. The Effect Of Metal Chelation On Latin Introduction Chelate means claw in Latin. Metal Chelation is a process when a polyvalent metal ion form covalent bonds with a drug and binds tightly to form a 5 or 6 membered ring. 5 and 6 membered ring structure are very stable because their bond angle has no ring strain. Thus, when a compound is chelated, it will not be able to pass through the biological membrane, in another words, it will not be metabolise by the body but to be pass through the renal without being absorbed and being excreted though urine. Essential metal such as magnesium, iron, calcium and zinc are easily found in many food source and is vital to be included as part of our diet as these trace elements are helping our body enzymes, hormones and cells to work. Insufficient intake of trace minerals can cause symptoms of nutritional deficiency. (Glusker,1999) At certain times, these metal are also use as an active ingredient or excipients in pharmaceutical industry. Chelation of Alendroic Acid with Calcium Alendronic acid is a bisphosphonate drug that is used to inhibit osteoclastic bone resorption .it works by attaching to hydroxyapatite binding sites to impair the ability of the osteoclasts to produce the protons necessary for continued bone resorption. It also inhibit osteoclast activity by promoting osteoclast apoptosis. (pubmed ) Patient group who are mostly taking this medication are postmenopausal women. • 54. Recent Medical Discoveries Of Fibrodysplasia Ossificans... Recent Medical Discoveries In Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva Disease Abstract Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva disease also known as FOP is a rare genetic disease of the connective tissue. FOP can be characterized by malformations of the big toe. This malformation is a characteristic feature that helps distinguish the disease from other muscle and bone issues. It is a disease that is caused by a mutation in the bodies repair mechanism. This causes muscle and connective tissue such as ligaments and tendons, to be ossified spontaneously or when they are damaged. Sometimes the bone can be permanently frozen in place in some cases. FOP is usually seen in early childhood it starts with the neck and shoulder and proceeds down the body and into the limbs. People who suffer from FOP are basically imprisoned by their own skeleton. Majority of FOP cases are sporadic and are a result from a new gene mutation (Lerardi Curto and Lynne). This mutation is an autosomal dominant disorder; this means it affects those who are heterozygous with a homozygous recessive partner because of this it means their children will have a fifty percent chance of having FOP. Most cases of FOP are a result from new mutations in the gene. People who have FOP and have the heterozygous phenotype have less severe affects than those who have the homozygous dominant phenotype. Patients who have FOB have the ossification gene that is still working in their bodies and it is usually turned off after a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As time has gone on, pharmaceuticals have become safer and more efficient, with less side effects, and therefore, more ethical to use. Throughout all aspects of ethics, the good sides of using medicines to treat mental illnesses far outweigh the bad. The history of treating mental illnesses dates as far back as 5000 B.C.E. with the evidence of trephined skulls. Side effects are a big one, with many patients experiencing them. For example, [a]bout 75% of people who take lithium for bipolar disorder have some side effects, although they may be minor (WebMD.com). So that means 3 out of 4 people, which is a large amount. Although the severity varies, side effects can still be annoying, making it a 7. Along with side effects, psychiatric drugs are often grouped into classes. It s generally thought that if a few drugs don t work from one class of drugs then the entire class won t work. SSRIs ease depression by increasing levels of serotonin in the brain ... SSRIs are called selective because they seem to primarily affect serotonin, not other neurotransmitters (Mayoclinic.org). So if Zoloft and Celexa don t work, Lexapro probably won t either; this is a 4, because many classes are available. Something else to think about is the skill of the doctor prescribing the medicine. Many general practitioners don t have much experience in psychiatric conditions, making misdiagnosis common. As per the survey taken by the National Depressive and Manic Depressive Association (DMDA), 69 percent of patients with bipolar disorder are misdiagnosed initially (Singh, Rajput). This makes misdiagnosis a 9. Altogether, this is a 20, making it the same score as the positive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
