A Comparison of Film Techniques of Two Film Versions of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Mary Shelley wrote her novel Frankenstein when she was just a young girl of nineteen. She wrote it in
1816, when she went on holiday with her friend, Byron. Byron was already a famous poet, and it was
him who suggested that whilst they were away, they should both write a ghost story. At the time it was
just a way of passing time and having fun for Mary Shelley, but little did she know that her story
would become famous worldwide. Many adaptations of Frankenstein have been made for cinema in
the 20th century. Two of the most significant being those studied in this assignment.

In 1930 French born director Robert Florey was hired by Universal Studios to make the new horror
film Frankenstein but he did not satisfy producer Carl Laemmle Jr, and so Director James Whale was
hired to replace Florey. Whale, an acclaimed Director, chose 44 year old Boris Karloff as the monster
and together with make up specialist Jack Pierce they created the most influential horror image of all
times. Boris Karloff s career was launched by the huge success of this film. However, many changes
had been made in Whale s version from the original novel.
In contrast with this, Mary Shelley s Frankenstein was released in 1994, sixty three years after James
Whale s version, and unlike his version, it followed very strictly Mary Shelley s original plot. Kenneth
Branagh, who also starred in the film as Dr. Frankenstein, directed the film. Branagh is also a British
born Director, with a distinguished career in theatre, both as an actor and a director.
Branagh is also famously known for adapting Shakespeare s plays into films. Mary Shelleys
Frankenstein was filmed in Shepperton studios in England, but with parts of the film shot on location
in the Swiss Alps. Tristar Pictures distributed the film. The film had a very strong cast of established
actors with Robert De Niro playing Frankesntein, Helena Bonham Carter as Elizabeth, Kenneth

Healthcare Data Essay
A. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each of the following categories of healthcare data: 1.
aggregate data 2. comparative data 3. patient centric data When it comes to reviewing healthcare data
there are certain data categories an organization needs to keep in mind, those categories include
aggregate data, comparative data, and patient centric data. All of the categories have advantages and
disadvantages. In the following paragraphs I will list out the advantage and disadvantages of the
categories mentioned above. First, let us start with aggregate data. Aggregate data can be used to
detect patterns or similarities from numerous groups of patients. This data helps healthcare
organizations and healthcare providers develop a plan of care or prevention of illnesses and a better
understanding of how to properly manage a disease process. With the use of aggregate data, vital signs
and other lab work can be tracked on a daily basis and if there is a need for a different dose or type of
medication, it can be caught early and corrected. A disadvantage of aggregate data would be that there
is underlying factors that is not disclosed and because of the underlying factors, the data gathered is
not beneficial when it comes to treating the patient. Therefore, the patient can suffer from a specific
event that was not treated properly. Next, let us discuss comparative data. Comparative data can be
defined as data that can be used for

The Origin of The Japanese Values of Precision And Punctuality
Introduction
Precision and punctuality is believed to be the order of the day in the Japanese society in both
workplaces and social settings. Punctuality is highly regarded as an important factor that has
contributed to the success of the Japanese economy in global scene. In 2013, the train transport
between Osaka and Tokyo recorded an average delay of six seconds only. There is a deep sense of
respect for other people s businesses with concerns that such activities should not be interrupted due to
lateness. However, the lack of flexibility has been faulted by critics who believe that the Japanese
people are too obsessed with time keeping and precision. However, the origin of such values is still
unknown to many with questions arising on whether such values existed before industrialization in
Japan. The fact that the values are associated with Japan s position as a global economic powerhouse
raises concern on the origin of such values.
The History of the Japanese Culture of Punctuality and Precision
Nara period
Heian period
The Tokugawa period Researchers believe that the Japanese were not punctual in Tokugawa period,
which lasted between 1603 and 1868. In 1857, a historical document by Willem Van Kettendyke
showed how the Japanese society valued modest and politeness but failed in keeping time. However,
the Meiji restoration period between 1868 and 1912 became a turning point for the Japanese where

On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin
On November 24th, 1859, On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the
Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life by Charles Darwin (renamed On the Origin of
Species 13 years later) was published in London, England. In it, Charles Darwin specified his
observations and gave his insight on what he thought caused evolution. He called it natural selection.
Before this, nearly everyone believed that a single God created every living organism that none of
them had changed a bit since then. Charles Darwin s On the Origin of Species influenced the minds of
1859 and impacted all of science. Charles Darwin was born to Robert Darwin and Susannah
Wedgwood on February 12, 1809. Darwin was raised by his three ... Show more content on

It was on these islands that Darwin noted that various birds, though the same species, differed based
on the different islands they resided on, most notably the mockingbird and finch. It was here that
Darwin first theorized about whether or not species could change over time, based on their location.
Could a species change because of the land, the climate, all of the things that can affect a species? On
the Origin of Species was a breakthrough at the time. It contained radical ideas that many people
weren t prepared to accept, the most widely known being that humans evolved from apes. There are
many important ideas contained within Darwin s book. The first and foremost being: Darwin s belief
that every species, living and extinct, originated from one individual species. Following this belief,
Darwin concluded that organisms within a populace must compete for resources to survive. Also, the
organisms within those individual populations will then show deviations, such as differently shaped
beaks for different food sources. With these variations comes the inevitable fact that certain organisms
will gain enhancements that will improve its ability to compete for resources or survive adversity.
Considering this, it is no surprise that Darwin also theorized that those organisms with beneficial
variations were more likely to survive and pass their characteristics

Next World War Could Be on Water
Next world war could be on WATER
Anyone who can solve the problems of water will be worthy of two Nobel prizes one for peace and
one for science.
John F. Kennedy
Water Crisis:
Water is a basic requirement for all life, yet water resources are facing more and more demands from,
and competition among, users. President Kennedy has expressed the crisis of water in the above said
lines so beautifully. According to World Water Council While the world s population tripled in the
20th century, the use of renewable water resources has grown six fold. Within the next fifty years, the
world population will increase by another 40 to 50 %. This population growth coupled with
industrialization and urbanization will result in an increasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

 Helps in utilizing the primary source of water and prevent the runoff from going into sewer or
storm drains, thereby reducing the load on treatment plants.
 Reduces urban flooding.
 Recharging water into the aquifers help in improving the quality of existing groundwater through

Situation in India:
India is a developing country. The illiteracy rate there is comparatively high. Also water has been a
main concern there. Even though the rate of urbanization in India is among the lowest in the world,
the nation has more than 250 million city dwellers. Experts predict that this number will rise even
further, and by 2020, about 50 per cent of India s population will be living in cities. This is going to
put further pressure on the already strained centralized water supply systems of urban areas.
(http://www.rainwaterharvesting.org/Crisis/Urbanwater scenario.htm) According to Central Public
Health Engineering Organization (CPHEEO) estimates, as on 31 March 2000, 88 per cent of urban
population has access to a potable water supply. But this supply is highly erratic and unreliable.
Transmission and distribution networks are old and poorly maintained, and generally not trustworthy.
The proper conservation of the water is one of the crises that need to be solved immediately else
serious consequences may follow. Rain water harvesting in this prospect seems a very

Short Story Short Essay
The sun beamed through the open window, embracing me in the warmth and comfort. My plane had
just arrived in Paris, France. It was a peaceful walk to baggage claim when some random girl
interrupted my daydream. Dixie, Dixie Lloyd is that you? some dark haired girl said to me. I looked at
her confused as she laughed. Ah, yes I did remember her. My, my she was the most annoying girl I

She kept trying to talk to me asking me all these questions and following me wherever I went. Luckily
I lost her in a crowd of people just as I was about to leave the airport. Ok, so here s a little back story
for you, so long story short...
It was a year ago I visited here and met Clement Perez. I was new and had nowhere to live, she
offered a place and I took it. Long story short she ended up going to a mental hospital for being
exceedingly crazy and trying to hurt many people including myself.
I stepped outside and let the sun soak up inside me. Looking around I saw my friend, Andre Lefevre,
waiting for me leaned up beside his car
How I know him is to long of a story to tell so let s just say I met him the day I almost died.
We said our hellos as he brought me to my hotel which I would staying at for the next two weeks. The

Man Vs. Nature In Jack London s To Build A Fire
Man vs. Nature in Jack London s To Build a Fire Since the dawn of time, mankind has had to struggle
to survive against the adverse conditions caused by Mother Nature. The theme to Jack London s To
Build a Fire is no different. To Build a Fire is a tragic story about the main protagonist s effort to
conquer the hostile environment in extreme sub freezing temperature leading to his undesired fate.
The environment being the Yukon, is a bitterly cold environment with man or without man. The
protagonist being the man has to deal with these hardships, first being his critical goal of reaching the
camp, to fighting frostbite, to merely surviving the night. This sets up the short story s central theme,
that mankind lives a solitary existence which is subject to the relentless, unconquerable forces of ...

The type of naturalism in the setting of To Build a Fire is a metaphysical naturalism. Metaphysical
naturalism affirms that the natural world is the only real one, and that the human race is not separate
from it, but belongs to it as a part (Donald 1). London illustrates that the man is forced to succumb to
nature because he has absolutely no control over it and is merely a part of it. With London s initial
descriptive words, he utilizes the weather to foreshadow the challenges that the man will face and
provides the reader with a naturalistic approach on how nature will take tow on the man . The
descriptions of the setting shows the reader how powerful nature is and how the man cannot conquer
nature because he is a part of it. The man is in charge of his own doing, while Nature is in charge of
every aspect of the environment in To Build a

Violence In Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho
Alfred Hitchcock s, Psycho, is a black and white psycho horror film with gothic influences, set in the
cities of Phoenix, Arizona and Fairvale, California. It was released in 1960 and at the time was
extremely groundbreaking in terms of the violence and sadistic nature of the film. Before Psycho was
released, films did not have the amount of violence and that appalling aspect that the film presents.
Hitchcock s film changed the horror genre and even created its own sub genre in psycho horror. The
film stars Janet Leigh as Marion Crane, Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates, Vera miles as Lila Crane,

The car manufacturer would deal directly with a tire manufacturer to get their product. The different
supply channels in this situation would travel from the car manufacturer to the tire manufacturer to the
raw supplies dealers. An example of a business to consumer model would include an individual
looking to book a flight and hotel in Las Vegas. The supply channels would typically travel through a
variety of more channels compared to the B2B model that include the individual, the online store, the
airline, the airline staff, the hotel and hotel staff. Another key difference between B2C and B2B has to
do with properly integrating technology characteristics. B2B needs to be integrated to their business
partner s software for adequate re supply of inventory, billing and other elements. This is an aspect
that the B2C does not have to deal with since the customer will return to them out of loyalty and
satisfaction versus convenience. Using once again an example with a car manufacturer and a tire

Black Tar Heroin (1999) is perhaps one of the best examples. Black Tar Heroin is an HBO piece that
focuses on the lives of five addicted young people and the poor decisions that arise as a result of their

overarching, underlying causes of the heroin problem in the same way that Mistakes on the Lake will

the root of the opioid problem. Mistakes on the Lake will focus more on the stories of individuals, and
it will center specifically around the Northern Ohio region. Chasing Heroin focuses on the big picture

it is still a relatively new issue. Most of the literature surrounding heroin does not focus on the source
of the epidemic and the real stories of those addicted to it. For the most part, books relating to heroin

The Alternatives Of Makeup Testing On Animals
Makeup testing on animals is when animals are utilized to test the safety and hypoallergenic reaction
of the products. In the United States animal testing is legal but regulated by The United States
Department of Agriculture (USDA) or the Animal Health Inspection Services (AHIS). Regulations
include the handle and care of the animal among all stages of life, and not being able to use pets such
as dogs, cats, horses, etc. for testing purposes. When makeup is tested on animals they are harmed.
Animals with harm include: inflamed skin, dry skin, bleeding, swollen eye, blindness, and sometimes
death. When a product does not go as planned, or the products is not okay to use, it is usually told by
the reaction of the animal being tested. Animals that are usually used for makeup are smaller animals
such as rats, mice, guinea pigs, and rabbits. The reason scientist uses animals to test makeup products,
is because their skin and hair are so similar to humans. According to the Humane society international,
...100,000 200,000 suffer and die every year due to cosmetic testing. (Zuazua). There are alternatives
for testing makeup on animals. Some alternatives include methods that use human blood, cell lines,
and artificial skin. Society is beginning to become eco friendlier which is turning people s outlook on
using products that test on animals or not. Cosmetic testing is harmful due to the chemical reaction of

Altruism
True altruism does not exist . Discuss with reference to psychological theory and research.
Many have defined altruism in a similar context, a special form of helping behaviour that is an act that
is motivated by the desire to benefit another individual rather than oneself (Hogg Vaughan, 2008). An
altruistic act does not necessarily have a negative or zero value to the actor (Margolis, 1982) but a true
altruistic act is detrimental to the actor s fitness and enhances another individual s fitness, in other
words, a selfless act (Batson, 1991). Throughout the evolution of altruism, there have been many
controversies about the existence of true altruism. Most theories have argued that it stems from
ulterior motives, but does that prove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another motive of altruism to gain indirect returns is the egoistic motives. It is suggested by
Mandeville (1732), where a person who is in a situation that causes personal distress would behave
altruistically to relieve that particular distress.
Although theories that suggest the non existence of true altruism may be persuasive, it does not
explain the reasons for selfless deeds done by famous figures for their love and services to people such
as Mother Teresa. Batson (1991) suggested a hypothesis and feels that some people are genuinely
concerned about other people s welfare. According to his empathy altruism hypothesis, empathic
concerns produce altruism motivation and relieving their sufferings is the main priority. This
hypothesis is supported by several experiments where participants are typically given an opportunity
to help those in need for whom they have been led to different levels of empathic concerns.
Also, recent news has reported that chimpanzees (Choi, 2007) and toddlers (China Daily, 2006) have
shown true altruistic behaviour.
In conclusion, the existence of altruism has yet to be proven but that does not mean it does not exist.
More research has to be done in this field to explain about other cases to prove its existence.

Water Pollution on Lake Huron
Introduction
Pollution is the presence of dangerous and unwanted substances in the ecosystem that causes
imbalance and health hazards to the living. Water pollution is the presence of unwanted substances or
particles in water, which causes imbalance in water systems. Lake Huron is among the largest fresh
water sources in the States located in North America. Lake Huron is one of the most polluted fresh
water lakes in America. It covers about 189 000 kilometers squared, and it is a component of the
Lauretian Great Lakes. It drains to the Atlantic Ocean through St. Lawrence River. It receives an
inflow from Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, while it drains to Lake Erie. The population
surrounding the lake is about 3 million, which also contribute to its pollution (Ylvisaker 28). Pollution
of Lake Huron has been over the years either through direct point sources or through non point
indirect sources (Saxena 1116). Direct point sources include sewage treatment firms and industries,
which direct their wastes directly into Lake Huron and its tributaries. Nonpoint sources indirectly
pollute water from the Lake, and majorly caused by man s activities and land policies applied by the
man.
Sources of pollution The major source of pollution in Lake Huron is the sewage. Sewage treatment
firms release their wastes directly into the Lake, and may contain harmful substances such as mercury,
lead and magnesium, if released

dictator often times a violent and aggressive one. Fascists dictators are against democratic
governments, where the people are free and rule. Examples of a famous fascist leaders are Benito
Mussolini, ruler of Italy from nineteen twenty two to nineteen forty three and Adolf Hitler, possibly
one of if not the most infamous dictators in all of history. Hitler was a violent dictator of Nazi
Germany from nineteen thirty four to nineteen thirty five. These two men exemplify everything that
fascism stands for, ruling with fear, aggression, and zero freedom for the people. I would argue that
fascism is both an ideology and a method, but at different times in the rise to power. In the climb and
rise to power fascism is a method used to gain people s attention, gain their trust and ultimately their
vote. While in power fascism becomes an ideology in the way that policies and ideas are used to keep
people in line, making sure the people know who s in charge. Exhibiting the power to gain the peoples
trust, therefore, keep their trust as strong as ever. An example of a dictator using fascism as a method
to gain support and votes of the people is to simply tell them what they want to hear. If the country s
economy is bad at the time a fascist politician is running for power, they may say how they are going
to fix and revamp the economy, so that it never happens again. Often times they just say things for the
attention and votes, fully knowing that they are not going to put any effort into solving the problem. If
they do try, it is not full hearted. They know that as soon as the current problem is fixed they will have
to find a new issue to take on. A dictator needs a cause to ride on the back of in order to gain the
peoples trust.. A quote by Adolf Hitler proves this best, If you tell a big enough lie and tell it
frequently enough, it will be believed . Once in power I believe that fascism becomes an ideology to
keep the people in check. Through the use of fascist ideas and policies fascist dictators are able to
keep people under their control and keep their trust. Hitler used aggression and intimidation to

Three Cups Of Tea By Greg Mortenson And David Oliver Relin
Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin contains many of the six social studies
themes. One theme that occurs within the book is Tradition and Innovation. In the book the
protagonist has a goal to build a school for the children of Korphe Sadly, not everyone wants this
school to be built. The tradition that many Muslim people follow is not allowing girls to receive an
education Allah forbids the education of girls. And I forbid the construction of this school (81). This
action demonstrates that many people still believe women should not go to school. As well, many
people will continue to follow this tradition, even as the culture changes. However, times are changing
and girls are begging to receive an education. With

Essay On Southern Baptist Denomination
The Bible states that one day you will own your doctrine. The denomination of one s faith affects
them in their life and eternity. Therefore, Christians need to recognize the importance of sect
distinctions. While I am trying to complement each denomination, I am highly in favor of the
Southern Baptist denomination and how it holds true to the Word of God and His plan for His
children. John 3:16 explains the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ. I want to recognize how
different or similar the plan of salvation is for each of the three sects. The Bible warns us to be careful
about what we believe, which is our doctrine, because we will teach others what we know.
1 Timothy 4:16 tells us to take heed of our doctrine. It is a very important ... Show more content on

Individuals are quick to tell where they attend church, because they take pride in it. Most of the church
population finds themselves going to what church is popular within the community or to a family
church. A religious sect usually correlates to someone s secular life in some manner. Religious
denomination is weakly related to both types of educational goals, and seems to have no real influence
on occupational goals.
What is crucial about church membership is that it defines one s denomination. The same pride that is
found in church membership needs to be found within the sect. For denomination is far more
important than church membership. People tend to not research and earnestly go to God to lead them
to the right sect. The more one knows about denominations, the more they can choose one that fits
according to their spiritual philosophies. It is so important for believers to know why they believe
what they believe.
Denominations have such an impact on people within their sect that they actually set the rules the
people live by. Such as is it okay to drink or is it not okay. Some argue that denominations have no
part in one s relationship with Jesus Christ. While one s relationship with Jesus Christ is exactly that a
relationship between an individual and Jesus Christ, one s denomination helps promote and lead you
in your relationship with Jesus

My Lost City Analysis
Not Goodbye, But See you Later
Why do people wish to leave New York so badly? Leaving New York is full of sad goodbyes and
lasting memories. It might be a forceful pulling away if someone does not want to go. The authors
seem to be attempting to escape the insanity. They all have a different take on what it means to leave
New York and their personal viewpoints on why they left. Whether it was for sanity, love, less
hardship, or more money. Between Fitzgerald in My Lost City, Didion in Goodbye to All That, Ptacin
and Strayed in Why Writers Love New York and (Then Leave It) each had the same idea which is that
leaving New York is the best thing they ever did regardless of what there is to offer they found more.
The city shatters one s illusions one by one the illusions one has of the city will eventually be
destroyed. For some it is easy to see past the mirage and for others more difficult. Fitzgerald realized
that the city lost the mirage, where he once saw beauty through all the troubles. He changed from a
tourist view to a New Yorker point of view. There was a loss of magic that the New York dreams
everyone soon ended. There are always ups and downs of city. He labels New York, his lost city
because at the end of it all, through all the coming and going it makes people feel like failures as there
is always someone that is better off. New York was a city after all and not the universe...it has limits.

Gunsmithing Requires Innovation Summary
In the article Gunsmithing Requires Innovation Paul Mazan has a customer come to him with hopes of
fixing his grandpa s old antique shotgun. To be exact, it was a Belgian Damascus barreled shotgun
made by F. Dumoulin. Back in those times the gun manufacturers would sometimes print any name
the customer wanted on the firearms. For example, if you owned Frank s Great Hardware, you could
have Franks Firearms printed on the side of your shotguns. This proved to be all but helpful when
finding replacement parts for this antique project.
The thing about F. Dumoulin though, was that the company shut its doors and went out of business in
1903. Of course, this meant finding original parts for the gun would be nearly impossible. As a

Wuthering Heights Ambiguity
A variety of narrative devices can be utilized by an author to enhance a story. One such device that
uses ambiguity to create powerful effects is the supernatural, which is [divided] into three categories
[...one of them being the uncanny,] in which [a] rational explanation of the supernatural phenomena is
possible (Lodge 212). In order to make a rational explanation of a supernatural event more believable,
typically a classic rhetoric of the uncanny will use first person narration and discourse in a
documentary form to make the story seem predictable, and therefore more believable (Lodge 214).
Emily Brontë s Wuthering Heights uses the uncanny to create a double interpretation of the ghost
scene in chapter three where the reader can accept either a rational or supernatural explanation to the
events that occurred. Firstly, a supernatural explanation of the events can be supported due to the
narration of the story and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, when Lockwood does encounter Catherine s ghost, the reader is inclined to believe in his
account of the events more so than if he were seeking a life of excitement and adventure. Also, the
Christian beliefs of the characters during this time period led them to believe that the spirit did leave
the body at death to go to heaven or hell, or to remain stuck on earth. This is shown by several
characters, including Zillah who wanted to get another proof that [Wuthering Heights] was haunted
and Heathcliff who [burst...] into an uncontrollable passion of tears and called for Catherine s spirit to

The Segregation And Subjugation Of African Americans
Political inequality has been an obstacle that many minority groups have encountered throughout
history. The segregation and subjugation of African Americans in the United States during the 1900s
was indifferent. Although innumerable people were opposed to the unfamiliar ideals of anti
segregation activists, George Edwin Taylor went against the standards of society, and explored new
civil morals. Through his endeavors, he was able to encourage people to divert from their accepted
beliefs and helped establish a foundation for the yet to come Civil Rights Movement. In the year 1857,
George Edwin Taylor was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to a free black, Amanda Hines, and slave,
Bryant Taylor. At the time of his birth, Arkansas was preparing for the forced removal of
approximately 700 free blacks. On February 12, 1859 the Free Negro Expulsion Act was enacted in
the state of Arkansas. All free blacks were ordered to leave the state by January 1, 1860, or they would
consequently be sold into slavery. Amanda Hines fled the state with her child to Alton, Illinois. In
1861 or 1862 Hines died from tuberculosis when George was only four or five years old during the
climax of the Civil War. George later claimed that when he was an orphan whom had lived in dry

Casti Connubai On Christian Marriage
1. Christ dignified chaste wedlock before the coming of Christ by establishing it as a form of
companionship between two people who will come together to have children. He designed this union
to be the foundation of society. Christ further dignified wedlock by taking the Church as His bride.
2. In Casti Connubii on Christian Marriage, Pope Pius XI lists two things men must do to obtain the
fruits of the sacrament of matrimony. The first is to be enlightened and fully understand Christ s true
doctrine regarding matrimony itself. The second is to still remain pure in their thoughts and actions in
order to obtain true peace and happiness for themselves and for their families .
3. a. The Pope sees a need to speak about the sanctity of marriage at this time because he saw that the
people of his day were beginning to forget the importance of a holy marriage. It especially applies
today with the leniency of how human intimacy is treated. Knowing this, the Pope spoke of it to
remind people the importance of a Holy Christian marriage. b. We know the Pope is teaching
infallibly here because he is re explaining a teaching already in practice. He doesn t add anything to
the core of the teaching, which is to avoid temptation in the context of human intimacy, by shows
specifically the temptations presented at that time in which the faithful should avoid. We can further
confirm that the Pope speaks infallibly because all teachings of the Pope come from God, and there
cannot be a fallible teaching from God Himself.
5. a. The point of Arcanum Divinae , as explained by Pope Pius XI, was to concentrate of matrimony
as a divine institution and it s sacramental and perpetual stability. He used this Encyclical specifically
as a reference and foundation for his own Encyclical. The only difference being that Arcanum Divinae
speaks of the spiritual aspects of the sacrament while the Casti Connubii speaks of both the
sacramental and the earthly systems and their effect on the lives of men. b. Man cannot change the
laws that strengthen marriage because such laws were not created by man. It is a fundamental doctrine
that the institution of matrimony and its laws were written by God. Since God is infallible, and

What is love? In his speech, Aristophanes engages in the discussion of love, encompassing human
nature as whole rather than individualistic aspects. According to a myth, we were originally created as
a single being, united with our beloved. As pairs, we were quite powerful and chaotic, such that the
god had to split us into two. Thereafter, life became pursuit, a pursuit for the other half, a quot;pursuit
for wholeness, to be complete. quot; And thesis what Aristophanes defines as love. He believes that
love is innate: quot; love is born into every human being quot;. He is expressing that the phenomenon
of love is as natural and inherent to us as breathing itself. Like other amenities of life, Love fulfills us.
quot;To be in love is to see the other individual as a special complement to one s existence. quot;
Socrates, on the other hand, defines love as the desire to possess good and beautiful entities, which he
presently lacks. By a dialectical method, questioning Agathon, he manifests that love cannot presently
possess the object of affection. Even when he desires what he has, what he really desire is quot;the
preservation of what he now has in time to come, so that he will have it then. quot; It follows then,
that he wants, rather than has the good. Thus,
Love itself is not beautiful. This however, does not imply that Love is ugly or evil. Rather,
Love is in between; just as there is something between wisdom and

The topic of war and peace has become an increasingly important area concerning international
relations over the past decade. Wars varying from Russia s invasion of Georgia, to the United States
involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan placed war on top of international politics agenda. These wars,
along with all other wars, are started for various reasons, which different international relations
theories try to identify. Theories such as realism or institutionalism may have severely different views
on identical cases, and while all theories usually have some degree of merit, opposing theories will
find discrepancies in the views of one another s theories. In international relations, it is important to

A liberal, someone who subscribes to the state society approach, would argue that, liberal theory
provides a plausible theoretical explanation for variation in the substantive content of foreign policy.
In other words, while realism and institutionalism may focus on the formal causes of conflict and
cooperation, such as military power; the state society approach explains state s behavior with regard to
certain contexts more appropriately. For example, why should the US worry about a limited number of
nuclear weapons possessed by North Korea, while countries like Great Britain and France own much
larger stockpiles of nuclear weapons? According to realist theory, states are wary of long term treaties
with other states, and therefore the United States should be worried about those countries that pose a
greater potential threat. As modern politics have shown, this is, of course, not the case. States perceive
threats not in the most potentially dangerous, but in the enemy most likely to provoke war. It is also
important to note, that during the course of history, states change whom they believe to be perceived
threats, another fundamental flaw with both realism and institutionalism. Realism contributes, no
theoretical importance, (p. 535) to the advancement of economic development in international politics,
while a liberal would argue that the economic nature of a state has a direct affect on state behavior.

Argumeative Essay Hasty Generalization
When writing an argumentative essay, there are certain debate skills that different writers like to use.
However, there are also many poor choices in writing that many people make, known as fallacies.
These fallacies can damage the argument presented in ones paper, whether it is used on purpose or not.
One big example of a fallacy is known as Hasty Generalization . People use hasty generalization when
they make assumptions on a whole group of people, based on only a small sample. For example, if
somebody went to a Texas Roadhouse and received terrible customer service from their waitress, and
then wrote about how awful Texas Roadhouses waitresses are, he/she would be using hasty
generalization. That person would be giving his opinion of the company as a whole, based only on one
waitress at one restaurant. In an argumentative essay, your argument will not be very strong is you are
using this fallacy.
Another common fallacy, especially in marketing and commercials, is Appeal to Authority . This
fallacy is used when somebody uses a well known person to help convince the audience of their view.
Although this trick may work in advertising,it should be avoided when writing. Just because Joe
Keery says Dominos Pizza is the best does not make it true. If, however, somebody quoted a
professional who has done real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Maybe somebody states that in 2004, crime stated increasing in New York, and Facebook also

client s needs were met by incorporating the following processes: i. The Briefing There was a Briefing

Functions of the stakeholders and the relationship between them 3. Budget and time allocations,
structure of the organization 4. Procurement instructions 5. Site safety, environmental conditions and
other factors that may affect the project ii. E mails All the emails were regularly documented. This

Alternative Dispute Resolution or ADR is used as a blanket term for processes, other than judicial
determination in which an impartial practitioner assists stakeholders of a dispute to resolve the issues

ADR services are actually prioritising fair, just and equitable outcomes for stakeholders as opposed to

Moreover, due to voluntary participation, a generally consensual and collaborative environment is
fostered. The ensuing reduced hostility aided by the professionalism of a mediator preserves and
possibly enhances strained relationships which is an integral interest of the families in dispute.
However, the use of these consensual methods do bring about certain noteworthy limitations such as
being used as a stalling tactic by either party as well as not operating on a system of precedent.
Effectively signifying that two disputes with similar factual circumstances may be treated completely
differently and thus inequitably in the eyes of the law. The most alarming issue arises where good faith
cannot be compelled, resulting in imbalanced agreements based on unreliable facts. Ultimately,
facilitation remains favourable amongst family disputes because agreements are likely to have more
secure commitment as decisions are made absent to an intimidating court process and ideally satisfy
both parties.
The remaining common method of alternative dispute resolution, before litigation through the court
system is arbitration. Although, in the general sense it is primarily used for commercial and workplace
disputes where a fast and enforceable decision is required , as opposed to family cases. Nonetheless,
the process is essentially similar to the advisory system of expert appraisal, where an independent

  • 2. A Comparison of Film Techniques of Two Film Versions of... A Comparison of Film Techniques of Two Film Versions of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Mary Shelley wrote her novel Frankenstein when she was just a young girl of nineteen. She wrote it in 1816, when she went on holiday with her friend, Byron. Byron was already a famous poet, and it was him who suggested that whilst they were away, they should both write a ghost story. At the time it was just a way of passing time and having fun for Mary Shelley, but little did she know that her story would become famous worldwide. Many adaptations of Frankenstein have been made for cinema in the 20th century. Two of the most significant being those studied in this assignment. A man named James Whale directed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1930 French born director Robert Florey was hired by Universal Studios to make the new horror film Frankenstein but he did not satisfy producer Carl Laemmle Jr, and so Director James Whale was hired to replace Florey. Whale, an acclaimed Director, chose 44 year old Boris Karloff as the monster and together with make up specialist Jack Pierce they created the most influential horror image of all times. Boris Karloff s career was launched by the huge success of this film. However, many changes had been made in Whale s version from the original novel. In contrast with this, Mary Shelley s Frankenstein was released in 1994, sixty three years after James Whale s version, and unlike his version, it followed very strictly Mary Shelley s original plot. Kenneth Branagh, who also starred in the film as Dr. Frankenstein, directed the film. Branagh is also a British born Director, with a distinguished career in theatre, both as an actor and a director. Branagh is also famously known for adapting Shakespeare s plays into films. Mary Shelleys Frankenstein was filmed in Shepperton studios in England, but with parts of the film shot on location in the Swiss Alps. Tristar Pictures distributed the film. The film had a very strong cast of established actors with Robert De Niro playing Frankesntein, Helena Bonham Carter as Elizabeth, Kenneth Branagh as Victor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Healthcare Data Essay A. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each of the following categories of healthcare data: 1. aggregate data 2. comparative data 3. patient centric data When it comes to reviewing healthcare data there are certain data categories an organization needs to keep in mind, those categories include aggregate data, comparative data, and patient centric data. All of the categories have advantages and disadvantages. In the following paragraphs I will list out the advantage and disadvantages of the categories mentioned above. First, let us start with aggregate data. Aggregate data can be used to detect patterns or similarities from numerous groups of patients. This data helps healthcare organizations and healthcare providers develop a plan of care or prevention of illnesses and a better understanding of how to properly manage a disease process. With the use of aggregate data, vital signs and other lab work can be tracked on a daily basis and if there is a need for a different dose or type of medication, it can be caught early and corrected. A disadvantage of aggregate data would be that there is underlying factors that is not disclosed and because of the underlying factors, the data gathered is not beneficial when it comes to treating the patient. Therefore, the patient can suffer from a specific event that was not treated properly. Next, let us discuss comparative data. Comparative data can be defined as data that can be used for ... • 4. The Origin Of The Japanese Values Of Precision And... The Origin of The Japanese Values of Precision And Punctuality Introduction Precision and punctuality is believed to be the order of the day in the Japanese society in both workplaces and social settings. Punctuality is highly regarded as an important factor that has contributed to the success of the Japanese economy in global scene. In 2013, the train transport between Osaka and Tokyo recorded an average delay of six seconds only. There is a deep sense of respect for other people s businesses with concerns that such activities should not be interrupted due to lateness. However, the lack of flexibility has been faulted by critics who believe that the Japanese people are too obsessed with time keeping and precision. However, the origin of such values is still unknown to many with questions arising on whether such values existed before industrialization in Japan. The fact that the values are associated with Japan s position as a global economic powerhouse raises concern on the origin of such values. The History of the Japanese Culture of Punctuality and Precision Nara period Heian period The Tokugawa period Researchers believe that the Japanese were not punctual in Tokugawa period, which lasted between 1603 and 1868. In 1857, a historical document by Willem Van Kettendyke showed how the Japanese society valued modest and politeness but failed in keeping time. However, the Meiji restoration period between 1868 and 1912 became a turning point for the Japanese where time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin On November 24th, 1859, On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life by Charles Darwin (renamed On the Origin of Species 13 years later) was published in London, England. In it, Charles Darwin specified his observations and gave his insight on what he thought caused evolution. He called it natural selection. Before this, nearly everyone believed that a single God created every living organism that none of them had changed a bit since then. Charles Darwin s On the Origin of Species influenced the minds of 1859 and impacted all of science. Charles Darwin was born to Robert Darwin and Susannah Wedgwood on February 12, 1809. Darwin was raised by his three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was on these islands that Darwin noted that various birds, though the same species, differed based on the different islands they resided on, most notably the mockingbird and finch. It was here that Darwin first theorized about whether or not species could change over time, based on their location. Could a species change because of the land, the climate, all of the things that can affect a species? On the Origin of Species was a breakthrough at the time. It contained radical ideas that many people weren t prepared to accept, the most widely known being that humans evolved from apes. There are many important ideas contained within Darwin s book. The first and foremost being: Darwin s belief that every species, living and extinct, originated from one individual species. Following this belief, Darwin concluded that organisms within a populace must compete for resources to survive. Also, the organisms within those individual populations will then show deviations, such as differently shaped beaks for different food sources. With these variations comes the inevitable fact that certain organisms will gain enhancements that will improve its ability to compete for resources or survive adversity. Considering this, it is no surprise that Darwin also theorized that those organisms with beneficial variations were more likely to survive and pass their characteristics ... President Kennedy has expressed the crisis of water in the above said lines so beautifully. According to World Water Council While the world s population tripled in the 20th century, the use of renewable water resources has grown six fold. Situation in India: India is a developing country. The illiteracy rate there is comparatively high. Also water has been a main concern there. Even though the rate of urbanization in India is among the lowest in the world, the nation has more than 250 million city dwellers. Experts predict that this number will rise even further, and by 2020, about 50 per cent of India s population will be living in cities. This is going to put further pressure on the already strained centralized water supply systems of urban areas. (http://www.rainwaterharvesting.org/Crisis/Urbanwater scenario.htm) According to Central Public Health Engineering Organization (CPHEEO) estimates, as on 31 March 2000, 88 per cent of urban population has access to a potable water supply. But this supply is highly erratic and unreliable. Transmission and distribution networks are old and poorly maintained, and generally not trustworthy. The proper conservation of the water is one of the crises that need to be solved immediately else serious consequences may follow. Rain water harvesting in this prospect seems a very ... Nature In Jack London s To Build A Fire Man vs. Nature in Jack London s To Build a Fire Since the dawn of time, mankind has had to struggle to survive against the adverse conditions caused by Mother Nature. The theme to Jack London s To Build a Fire is no different. To Build a Fire is a tragic story about the main protagonist s effort to conquer the hostile environment in extreme sub freezing temperature leading to his undesired fate. The environment being the Yukon, is a bitterly cold environment with man or without man. The protagonist being the man has to deal with these hardships, first being his critical goal of reaching the camp, to fighting frostbite, to merely surviving the night. London illustrates that the man is forced to succumb to nature because he has absolutely no control over it and is merely a part of it. With London s initial descriptive words, he utilizes the weather to foreshadow the challenges that the man will face and provides the reader with a naturalistic approach on how nature will take tow on the man . The supply channels would typically travel through a variety of more channels compared to the B2B model that include the individual, the online store, the airline, the airline staff, the hotel and hotel staff. Many have defined altruism in a similar context, a special form of helping behaviour that is an act that is motivated by the desire to benefit another individual rather than oneself (Hogg Vaughan, 2008). An altruistic act does not necessarily have a negative or zero value to the actor (Margolis, 1982) but a true altruistic act is detrimental to the actor s fitness and enhances another individual s fitness, in other words, a selfless act (Batson, 1991). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another motive of altruism to gain indirect returns is the egoistic motives. It is suggested by Mandeville (1732), where a person who is in a situation that causes personal distress would behave altruistically to relieve that particular distress. Although theories that suggest the non existence of true altruism may be persuasive, it does not explain the reasons for selfless deeds done by famous figures for their love and services to people such as Mother Teresa. Batson (1991) suggested a hypothesis and feels that some people are genuinely concerned about other people s welfare. According to his empathy altruism hypothesis, empathic concerns produce altruism motivation and relieving their sufferings is the main priority. This hypothesis is supported by several experiments where participants are typically given an opportunity to help those in need for whom they have been led to different levels of empathic concerns. Also, recent news has reported that chimpanzees (Choi, 2007) and toddlers (China Daily, 2006) have shown true altruistic behaviour. • 21. Example Of Fascism What is Fascism? By definition fascism is a form of government that is ruled by one person as a dictator often times a violent and aggressive one. Fascists dictators are against democratic governments, where the people are free and rule. Examples of a famous fascist leaders are Benito Mussolini, ruler of Italy from nineteen twenty two to nineteen forty three and Adolf Hitler, possibly one of if not the most infamous dictators in all of history. Hitler was a violent dictator of Nazi Germany from nineteen thirty four to nineteen thirty five. These two men exemplify everything that fascism stands for, ruling with fear, aggression, and zero freedom for the people. I would argue that fascism is both an ideology and a method, but at different times in the rise to power. In the climb and rise to power fascism is a method used to gain people s attention, gain their trust and ultimately their vote. While in power fascism becomes an ideology in the way that policies and ideas are used to keep people in line, making sure the people know who s in charge. Exhibiting the power to gain the peoples trust, therefore, keep their trust as strong as ever. An example of a dictator using fascism as a method to gain support and votes of the people is to simply tell them what they want to hear. If the country s economy is bad at the time a fascist politician is running for power, they may say how they are going to fix and revamp the economy, so that it never happens again. Often times they just say things for the attention and votes, fully knowing that they are not going to put any effort into solving the problem. If they do try, it is not full hearted. They know that as soon as the current problem is fixed they will have to find a new issue to take on. A dictator needs a cause to ride on the back of in order to gain the peoples trust.. A quote by Adolf Hitler proves this best, If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed . Once in power I believe that fascism becomes an ideology to keep the people in check. Through the use of fascist ideas and policies fascist dictators are able to keep people under their control and keep their trust. Hitler used aggression and intimidation to ... • 30. The Segregation And Subjugation Of African Americans Political inequality has been an obstacle that many minority groups have encountered throughout history. The segregation and subjugation of African Americans in the United States during the 1900s was indifferent. Although innumerable people were opposed to the unfamiliar ideals of anti segregation activists, George Edwin Taylor went against the standards of society, and explored new civil morals. Through his endeavors, he was able to encourage people to divert from their accepted beliefs and helped establish a foundation for the yet to come Civil Rights Movement. In the year 1857, George Edwin Taylor was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to a free black, Amanda Hines, and slave, Bryant Taylor. At the time of his birth, Arkansas was preparing for the forced removal of approximately 700 free blacks. On February 12, 1859 the Free Negro Expulsion Act was enacted in the state of Arkansas. All free blacks were ordered to leave the state by January 1, 1860, or they would consequently be sold into slavery. Amanda Hines fled the state with her child to Alton, Illinois. In 1861 or 1862 Hines died from tuberculosis when George was only four or five years old during the climax of the Civil War. George later claimed that when he was an orphan whom had lived in dry good boxes in Alton. In 1865 at the age of seven, George boarded the Hawkeye State, a side paddle wheeler, and disembarked at La Crosse, Wisconsin, on May 8, 1865. In 1865, La Crosse had a small but active black ... • 31. Casti Connubai On Christian Marriage 1. Christ dignified chaste wedlock before the coming of Christ by establishing it as a form of companionship between two people who will come together to have children. He designed this union to be the foundation of society. Christ further dignified wedlock by taking the Church as His bride. 2. In Casti Connubii on Christian Marriage, Pope Pius XI lists two things men must do to obtain the fruits of the sacrament of matrimony. The first is to be enlightened and fully understand Christ s true doctrine regarding matrimony itself. The second is to still remain pure in their thoughts and actions in order to obtain true peace and happiness for themselves and for their families . 3. a. The Pope sees a need to speak about the sanctity of marriage at this time because he saw that the people of his day were beginning to forget the importance of a holy marriage. It especially applies today with the leniency of how human intimacy is treated. Knowing this, the Pope spoke of it to remind people the importance of a Holy Christian marriage. b. We know the Pope is teaching infallibly here because he is re explaining a teaching already in practice. He doesn t add anything to the core of the teaching, which is to avoid temptation in the context of human intimacy, by shows specifically the temptations presented at that time in which the faithful should avoid. We can further confirm that the Pope speaks infallibly because all teachings of the Pope come from God, and there cannot be a fallible teaching from God Himself. 5. a. The point of Arcanum Divinae , as explained by Pope Pius XI, was to concentrate of matrimony as a divine institution and it s sacramental and perpetual stability. He used this Encyclical specifically as a reference and foundation for his own Encyclical. The only difference being that Arcanum Divinae speaks of the spiritual aspects of the sacrament while the Casti Connubii speaks of both the sacramental and the earthly systems and their effect on the lives of men. b. Man cannot change the laws that strengthen marriage because such laws were not created by man. It is a fundamental doctrine that the institution of matrimony and its laws were written by God. • 32. Platos The Symposium Essay In Greek culture around the time of Plato, the perfect ideal person was considered. Plato s idea that there was a perfect world of ideas affected this pieces subject and the subject s action. This idea that the ideal world was real and what matter not the physical also effect the actions depicted in many works of this time period. In his speech, Aristophanes engages in the discussion of love, encompassing human nature as whole rather than individualistic aspects. According to a myth, we were originally created as a single being, united with our beloved. As pairs, we were quite powerful and chaotic, such that the god had to split us into two. Thereafter, life became pursuit, a pursuit for the other half, a quot;pursuit for wholeness, to be complete. quot; And thesis what Aristophanes defines as love. He believes that love is innate: quot; love is born into every human being quot;. He is expressing that the phenomenon of love is as natural and inherent to us as breathing itself. Like other amenities of life, Love fulfills us. quot;To be in love is to see the other individual as a special complement to one s existence. quot; Socrates, on the other hand, defines love as the desire to possess good and beautiful entities, which he presently lacks. By a dialectical method, questioning Agathon, he manifests that love cannot presently possess the object of affection. Even when he desires what he has, what he really desire is quot;the preservation of what he now has in time to come, so that he will have it then. quot; It follows then, that he wants, rather than has the good. Thus, Love itself is not beautiful. This however, does not imply that Love is ugly or evil. Rather, Love is in between; just as there is something between wisdom and ... • 33. Weight And Activity Analysis Weight and Activity Level I have been overweight most of my life. As a child I was overweight but during my early teen years as I grew, I began to lean out. I was able to maintain a healthy weight throughout middle school but when I began working during high school I had less time to exercise so I started to, again, gain weight. Since then I have consistently stayed between 200 and 210 pounds which puts me in the obese category with a BMI of 32. Luckily, taking physical education as a requirement to graduate has forced me to get in some exercise that I otherwise wouldn t find time to do and has driven me to want to continue. When something that I eat or drink is especially good I tend to eat more than I should, which contributes to a higher calorie intake than I should. Wars varying from Russia s invasion of Georgia, to the United States involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan placed war on top of international politics agenda. These wars, along with all other wars, are started for various reasons, which different international relations theories try to identify. Theories such as realism or institutionalism may have severely different views on identical cases, and while all theories usually have some degree of merit, opposing theories will find discrepancies in the views of one another s theories. A liberal, someone who subscribes to the state society approach, would argue that, liberal theory provides a plausible theoretical explanation for variation in the substantive content of foreign policy. In other words, while realism and institutionalism may focus on the formal causes of conflict and cooperation, such as military power; the state society approach explains state s behavior with regard to certain contexts more appropriately. For example, why should the US worry about a limited number of nuclear weapons possessed by North Korea, while countries like Great Britain and France own much larger stockpiles of nuclear weapons? According to realist theory, states are wary of long term treaties with other states, and therefore the United States should be worried about those countries that pose a greater potential threat. As modern politics have shown, this is, of course, not the case. States perceive threats not in the most potentially dangerous, but in the enemy most likely to provoke war. It is also important to note, that during the course of history, states change whom they believe to be perceived threats, another fundamental flaw with both realism and institutionalism. Realism contributes, no theoretical importance, (p. 535) to the advancement of economic development in international politics, while a liberal would argue that the economic nature of a state has a direct affect on state behavior. ... • 36. Argumeative Essay Hasty Generalization When writing an argumentative essay, there are certain debate skills that different writers like to use. However, there are also many poor choices in writing that many people make, known as fallacies. These fallacies can damage the argument presented in ones paper, whether it is used on purpose or not. One big example of a fallacy is known as Hasty Generalization . People use hasty generalization when they make assumptions on a whole group of people, based on only a small sample. For example, if somebody went to a Texas Roadhouse and received terrible customer service from their waitress, and then wrote about how awful Texas Roadhouses waitresses are, he/she would be using hasty generalization. That person would be giving his opinion of the company as a whole, based only on one waitress at one restaurant. In an argumentative essay, your argument will not be very strong is you are using this fallacy. Another common fallacy, especially in marketing and commercials, is Appeal to Authority . This fallacy is used when somebody uses a well known person to help convince the audience of their view. Although this trick may work in advertising,it should be avoided when writing. Just because Joe Keery says Dominos Pizza is the best does not make it true. If, however, somebody quoted a professional who has done real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maybe somebody states that in 2004, crime stated increasing in New York, and Facebook also launched in 2004, so Facebook must be the reason for the increase in crime. Alternative Dispute Resolution Or Adr Alternative Dispute Resolution or ADR is used as a blanket term for processes, other than judicial determination in which an impartial practitioner assists stakeholders of a dispute to resolve the issues between them. The most alarming issue arises where good faith cannot be compelled, resulting in imbalanced agreements based on unreliable facts.
