2. 8 Stages of Psychosocial Dilemmas
In Dr. Eric Erikson s 8 Stages of Psychosocial Dilemmas he stated that conflict between personal
impulse and the social world. Erikson also believed that a sense of competence also motivates
behaviors and actions. Each stage in Erikson s theory is concerned with becoming competent in an
area of life. If the stage is handled well, the person will feel a sense of mastery. Being able to master
the dilemma during each stages of Erikson s psychosocial development creates a sense of success and
well development accomplishment. Being able to strive for a healthy growth and future endeavors in
later stages. On the contrary if you are unable to fully develop in the early stages will make it harder to
deal with later stages. Erikson s 8 Stages of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through social interactions, children begin to develop a sense of pride in their accomplishments and
abilities. During the industry versus inferiority the children begin to perform complex task and upon
completion the child feels empowered and a sense of accomplishment which gives him confidence to
try even more grueling intricate tasks. While on the contrary if a child is unable to receive
encouragement from their parents, teachers, and peers they feel a sense doubt about there success. An
example of stage four close to my life is my little cousin Marcos. The little dude is amazingly smart
due to the fact he is encouraged by his parents and his peers. He is sincerely able to take on new tasks
and be a leader in his own mind. Every task that Marcos is able to accomplish begins by his parents
push him to strive for success and he tackles all his task head on. During the fifth stage of Erikson s
psychosocial development it is considered the adolescence identity versus role confusion occurs.
Teens need to develop a sense of self discovery and personal identity. The teen usual does this by
aligning yourself with other peers with similar interested either in music, hobbies, or other activities.
As they make the transition from childhood to adulthood, teens may begin to feel confused or insecure
about themselves and how they fit in to society. I found this to be true while growing up and going
through my adolescent years I found it difficult

3. A Comparison Of A Wrinkle In Time, Hunger Games And Star Wars
There are a lot of things that are the same and different about A Wrinkle in Time, Hunger Games, and
Star Wars based on the hero s journey. Here are some similarities and differences about all three of the
stories in different parts of the hero s journey. In the Crossing the Threshold part of the hero s journey,
Star Wars and the Hunger games are very alike because Katniss and Luke have both only ever lived in
one place. The minute that they leave their towns, it s like they enter a whole different world even
though they haven t quite gone on their adventure yet. But A Wrinkle in time is different because when
Meg, Calvin, and Charles get to the crossing the threshold part of their story, they actually do go to an
entire different world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

save her little brother Charles Wallace from IT. But in Star Wars it is a little bit different because Luke
is the only one left to blow up the death star, and he is not only fighting to save someone that he loves,
but to save everyone in the rebel base. The one thing that all of them have in common is that they are

4. Analysis Of The Poem The Soldier s Home And Katherine...
In Ernest Hemingway s haunting short story Soldier s Home and Katherine Mansfield s insightful
short story Miss Brill , both isolated characters, Krebs and Miss Brill, experiences the many pratfalls
of their solitude. Krebs and Miss Brill are both victims of isolation but for different reasons. They deal
with different types of isolation, family support and perception of reality that hinder them from fully
assimilating in to the present reality around them.
Isolation can be used as a tool for comfort and protection or as a guise to hide one s own sorrows.
Krebs isolation is due to the effects of the war and his town s reaction to the war. For his town had
heard too many atrocity stories to be thrilled by actualities that it forced war ridden Krebs in to
solitude (Hemingway 187). The many consequences of the war effected Krebs to not want any
consequences ever again (Hemingway 188). Krebs isolation is due to the need of protecting himself
from consequences. His mind is still in the war, but his body is not. He finds comfort in isolation
because consequences only come from interaction with others that leads to forming connections that
lead to vulnerability. When someone is vulnerable, they are more likely to get hurt. Miss Brill s
isolation is due to her obtuseness about the perception of the people around her. Miss Brill s distorted
perception of herself makes her think that somebody would have noticed if she hadn t been there; she
was part of the performance

5. Emily Rose Religion
The benefits that religion and spirituality provide in recovery and psychotherapeutic support are
exponential (Bradshaw et. al). It is one of the reasons the correlation between religious mindset and
mental health continues to draw scholarly attention. Another confounding variable is that there is little
cultural separation between spiritual guidance and psychotherapy. Most Catholic Priest s come
equipped with undergraduate and seminary work, the minimum requirement to perform basic
counseling in most states. Gettis, a psychiatrist and scholar, postulates that both priest and
psychotherapists are mutual socially sanctioned healers drawn together by the belief that they possess
healing power (Gettis 188). Alternatively, religion can also induce feelings of shame and bare negative
effects on one s mental health (Keks et.al). The Exorcism of Emily Rose utilized this theme to
confound audience s perceptions of religion. In life, most of whom we ... Show more content on

Instead, her story unfolds through the various perceptions of individuals ranging from her family, her
love interest, to medical personnel. To demonstrate this, Derrickson uses lighting and the emotions of

bright courtroom (a place of facts) to a landscape filled with dark overtones, where we wittiness

demonic possession the lighting is dark. A symbolic feature selected to exhibit not only the torment
Emily was going through, but the absence of actual truth. The various shades of light and dark used in
the film supports the idea of how non religious society approaches the idea of possession and
exorcism. To this cultural group, the idea of demonic or spiritual possession is abnormal. As is the idea
of exorcism as a curative

6. Scribes In Ancient Egypt
Scribes were among the first few people in ancient Egypt who knew how to read and write. As
someone who was skilled in both the arts and writing, the scribe was supposed to write letters and
legal documents, collected taxes, take records and tallies and performed all manner of clerical duties
(Kraft). Scribes learned how to read and write from their fathers, since becoming a scribe was passed
down to their sons, as well as attending a scribe in training school which is attached to a temple or the
palace (Kraft). Wealthier young scribes often had a tutor, but most learned by continually copying
texts and rehearsing stories, often about manners and religious doctrine (Kraft). These lessons were
strictly taught, as attested by the fact that the ancient Egyptian word seba means both teach and beat
(Kraft). Not only was schooling physically draining, the lesson plans were also not easy. ... Show

7. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Traffic Control
DENSITY BASED TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM A new density based traffic control system is
described here, which is capable of detecting, counting, and controlling vehicles, thereby reducing the
traffic congestion. Before explaining about the proposed system, some of the existing traffic control
methods and their disadvantages are described below.
4.1 EXISTING TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEMS
In real world there are many traffic controlling schemes established already. These schemes are
described below.
4.1.1 Manual Controlling
This is the simplest form of traffic control. As the name indicates it require man power to control the
traffic. Depending on the countries and states the traffic polices are allotted for a required area or city
to control the traffic by analyzing the traffic conditions. A traffic police stands in the middle of road
and monitors flow of traffic. The traffic polices will have things like sign board, sign light and whistle
to control the traffic. In time of congestion he gives signals to the vehicle driver whether to drive or
stop. He is also able to recognize emergency case, so he can choose which lane needs more priority
than other.

are automatically getting ON and OFF depending on the timer value changes. While using electrical
sensors it will capture the availability of the vehicle and signals on each phase, depending on the
signal the lights automatically switch ON and OFF. Before green light, yellow light flashes for few
second, signifying to start your vehicle and be ready to go. For all the time red light is on, ordering
each vehicle to stop. This method is efficient than manual controlling

8. Pros And Cons Of Banning The Daily Stormer
While banning The Daily Stormer may not prevent them from creating another outlet to spread
negativity, there are still pro s that come from it. One pro that would come out of banning The Daily
Stormer is that there would be one less outlet spreading hateful messages. Furthermore, there would
be no basis of meaning set out on how to treat others. Banning The Daily Stormer also shows that
companies are willing to step up and speak out on what they believe in. This could also defer future
hate groups by creating fear of also being shut down. Even though there are other ways to go about
getting rid of people who spread hatred towards other groups of people who are not their own, I think
that the web platforms had the right to deny access to The Daily Stormer if they feared that any other
way could lead to more chaos. I believe that by The Daily Stormer being denied on web ... Show more

I think that the Daily Stormer should be able to freely express their opinions, whether other people

however controversial they may be. As members of a society, we should accept that not everyone is
going to agree with us, and getting angry or trying to silence someone because they have different
beliefs is simply barbaric. It is important that one learns to listen to different perspectives about the
world. With that being said, I think sometimes it is very hard for humans to separate their emotions
from logic, and when that happens you can t communicate. Admittedly, the Neo Nazis have a

Safety is a major concern when it comes to the excavation and trenching of soil. While large machines
can perform these tasks effectively when there is adequate space, mini diggers are the better
alternative for those places that have limited space. Heavy, massive excavators will not manoeuvre
easily in these spaces, and this may lead to accidents and injuries. On the other hand, mini excavators

14. Why Video Games Is Well, Obviously Because It s Fun
Why Play Video Games
Well, obviously because it s fun. Gaming is just another kind of entertainment, after all. However,
there are many kinds of games with each their own reason why I play them. Often times, I play
different kinds of games for entirely different reasons. Most of the time I play it for either the story or
for the challenge. However, I play various kinds of games and there are various different reasons why
I play them. Moreover despite popular beliefs that game causes violence, there are further benefits
from playing a game than just a simple entertainment.
I play adventure games to experience stories and escapades. There are other sources of stories, such as
books and TV shows, but video game is the only kind of entertainment which offers interactive
storytelling. I don t want to just passively learn about stories. I want to immerse in it, and try to live
with various characters inside those stories. I want to be an active participant of that story. One of the
best games I ve played which provides me with a good story is The Walking Dead . It s a game about
living after a zombie apocalypse. Players play as Lee, a guy who s trying to survive with his group of
survivors. Early in the game, he meets Clementine, a little girl who was separated from her parents. As
they try to live their lives, there will be a lot of thought provoking choices which can actually change
what would happen later. For example, due to the lack of food you need to choose who among your

15. The Danger of Deep Vein Thrombosis
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a type of cardiovascular disease. DVT is a blood clot that forms in the
large deep veins in the leg or pelvis area and grows toward the heart. Including the veins in the calf
and thighs, the femoral, popliteal, and iliofemoral vein are also the sites of DVT development. It is a
mainly common and dangerous condition (Kesieme et al., 2011). Some DVTs may cause no pain or
swelling, whereas others might be quite painful and result in a lot of swelling. Mortality is not high
with prompt diagnoses and treatment for most DVTs. However some can be a threat to your life,
especially the ones that develop in the deep veins as compared to the clots that develop in the visible
superficial veins. Clot which forms in the deep veins is more likely to break free and travel through
the veins, which is then called an embolus. When an embolus travels from the legs or pelvis area and
lodges into the lung artery, the condition is known as a pulmonary embolism or PE. This is a
potentially fatal condition if it is not treated immediately and can lead to death. As high as 50% of the
time a DVT can progress to pulmonary embolism. Collectively, DVT and PE are known as venous
thromboembolism (VTE). DVT and PE are highly preventable (Kesieme et al., 2011). Both DVT and
PE are a major public health problem worldwide. DVT affects approximately 0.1% of persons per
year. The overall average age and sex adjusted annual incidence of VTE is 117 per 100,000, with

16. Current Economic Conditions In The United States
Current Economic Conditions
As previously stated in the executive summary, the United States economy is currently stagnating.
From week to week we may see a rise in one indicator while there is a fall in another indicator, but
none of the rises or falls are drastic enough to have an overwhelming impact on the economy as a
whole. Although the economy is not near as strong as it was before the 2008 2009 recession, arguably
one of the biggest economic crises of the past decade, there has been much growth and strength
throughout the past few years with this year being the first year in which the economy is in somewhat
of a holding pattern. I believe, that even with the little growth and movement of the United States
economy over the past year, it is still perhaps one of the strongest economies in the world at the
moment.
The rise and fall of GDP over a specific period of time is, in many cases, the number one indicator for
how the economy is doing. Being the output of final goods and services, GDP works well with
consumer confidence and provides a good idea as to the general health of the economy. By looking at
Figure 1, we can see that GDP rose steeply after the 20008 2009 recession and has continued to
remain strong with relatively little movement since 2010. In the most recent quarters, 2014 and 2015,
GDP has declined a little, but the decline is in no way too drastic nor did it have any significant impact
on the economy. This slight decline is more like GDP

18. Analysis Of Warren St. John s Outcasts United
In Warren St. John s Outcasts United, the citizens of Clarkston, Georgia had a fantasy of living in the
ideal American town. However, that fantasy stood no chance when faced with the harsh reality of life.
When a myriad of refugees from war torn countries were placed in Clarkston, the townspeople saw
their fantasy begin to slip away. Clarkston s residents disliked the influx of refugees because they
feared the thought of losing their ideal American town. The citizens were too selfish to live in such a
state of liminality as depicted by St. John. Rather than helping their neighbors, the old Clarkston
residents maintained their ideology by isolating the refugees and making it nearly impossible for the
refugees to survive or have a desirable life in Clarkston. The Clarkston residents were driven by fear
of the unknown and were reluctant to accept the refugees. Luma started a youth soccer program,
which was aimed toward the refugee children to help the younger generation of refugees fit into the
American society and lessen the tensions between the Clarkston residents and the refugees that was
evident in her generation of refugees. The Clarkston residents had to accept and become a part of the
inevitable change in their community.
To begin, the Clarkston townsfolk had to eliminate the isolation between themselves and the refugees
and accept the reality of their town changing. The refugees were set to live in apartments on one side

20. Persuasive Essay On Stop And Frisk
Parayno, Jay Mard
English 105
Professor Zaragoza
December 11, 2016
Stop and Frisk Stop and frisk is a tactic designed for reducing crime by allowing police officers to
stop and search individuals that may seem suspicious. This law allows police officers to search
individuals only if they have reasonable suspicion that a crime might occur or if the suspect is carrying
anything illegal or dangerous. Between the years of 2002 and 2016, there have been 5 million stop and
streets interrogations, and nine out of 10 individuals who were stopped have been completely innocent
( Stop and Frisk Data ). With that being said, stop and frisk should not continue to be a policing tactic
because it is ineffective, it gives too much power to police officers, and promotes racial profiling. One
misconception that many believe is that the stop and frisk program brings in many criminals or even
those that have potential; however, many stop and frisk incidents were unsuccessful, making the tactic
ineffective. According to the NYPD s own report, over 100,000 people were stopped every year since
2002 and every year above 77% were innocent ( Stop and Frisk Data ). In an interview conducted by
Amy Goodman for Democracy Now, she interviews a NYPD officer named Adhyl Polanco ( NYPD

21. Marlowe And FaustusDamnation In Shakespeare s Death
Perhaps the most poignant of these moments is in Act IV during which Faustus has a troubling
encounter with a horse courser. Speaking to himself (as well as the audience), Faustus laments, what
are thou, Faustus, but a man condemned to die? (4.1, line 127). If the play were to be accepted as
Calvinist, Faustus then becomes the worst sort of sinner. As Calvin himself explains in Institutes of
Christian Religion, We see therefore that it is no absurdity, that one self act be ascribed to God, to
Satan, and to man: but the diversity in the end and manner of doing, causeth that therein appeareth the
justice of God to be without fault, and also the wickedness of Satan and man, bewrayeth itself to their
reproach (Calvin 207). In the Calvinist mindset, Faustus damnation was first willed by God, then by
Satan, and then by himself. Faustus, and his actions in the play, could have acted as a cautionary tale,
though a rather dramatic one. However, even if one chooses to view the play as a critic of Calvinism,
it remains true that Marlowe s interpretation of the Faust myth is wrought with religious concerns of
the time. Was Faustus fate predestined or could he have saved his soul? This question and its difficult
answer certainly would have resonated with Elizabethan audiences. Interestingly enough, 21st century
America was also navigating a world in which religion and politics cannot be separated from one
another. During David Mamet s original production of Faustus,

the Cahokians. He was buried looking up toward the live giving sunlight. Falcon was buried in the
mound with 207 other people. Archaeologists were attracted to Cahokia because of the many earthen
mounds that were built in the region by ancient Americans. Monks Mound was known as the largest
single structure that was created by ancient North Americans. Artifacts are studied by both historians
and archaeologists. Physical objects are what archaeologists focus on, while historians focus on things
like writings. In Central America, China, and Egypt, writing derived between the ancient peoples in

millennia, didn t work with writing to interact across time and space, the way we did. They created a
variety of different spoken languages. Since these ancient people did not work with writing, this made
an obstacle for the archaeologists; who had to create artifacts to help with their studies. They did all
they could do, except ignore what can t be ignored: ancient Americans past events. In the Western
Hemisphere, the very first people to appear departed from Asia. Large mammals were hunted down,

1. Defining the FTSE 250
The FTSE is bantered around a lot within financial circles and seems to be a key element within many
news headlines too. While the term FTSE is commonly known, few actually understand the FTSE 250
and what it entails. In order to educate those who are unfamiliar with what it is, the following
information should be of great use.
Leading Index
Widely considered to be one of the leading indices in the world, the FTSE 250 is an index that features
some of the biggest operating companies on the planet. However, some may be unsure of what of an
index is generally. The purpose of an index is actually pretty self explanatory on the surface, it a tool
used to summarise the performance of a selection of publically floated ... Show more content on

The reason why investors have such a heighted interest in the FTSE 250 is because it is often where
the future superstar companies of tomorrow are found. Traders will track this index with invested
interest in the hope of finding a stock that can surge following investment. The FTSE 250 is one of the
more interesting indexes within the world of stock and shares, as it features names from all sectors.
How to track the FTSE 250?
Taking advantage of the FTSE 250 requires investors to be diligent. What is featured within the FTSE
250 is affected by in company, in market, and general world events. Changing global economics in
general can have a deep impact on the companies that are featured with the FTSE 250. For example,
when the interest rates rise in the UK or the oil supply in the Middle East falls short, you can be sure
that it will have an impact on the performance of the FTSE 250. The key to mastering the FTSE 250
relates to tracking signals and attempting to stay one step ahead of the curve.

25. Twelfth Night Shame Quotes
Although Twelfth Night is renowned for its comical nature and cross dressing, on closer examination
it appears that Shakespeare has used this comedy to have a greater effect on the audience than pure
humour, supporting Berry s statement. However, before attesting that Berry is entirely correct, we
must evaluate three things: the way in which Shakespeare makes the audience feel ashamed, whether
this shame is felt by both contemporary audiences and Elizabethan/Jacobean audiences, and whether
shame is, as Berry writes the ultimate effect .
One of the ways in which Shakespeare could be seen to cast shame upon the audience is through their
reaction to the characters treatment of Malvolio. On receiving the letter, Malvolio expresses I thank
my stars I am happy (...) Jove and my stars be praised! (...) Jove I thank thee. I will smile, I will do
everything that thou wilt have me. (Act II, Scene V, lines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, his statement Thou say thou art a man. (Act I, Scene V, line 30) Is short, blunt and definite,
proving that he is in fact oblivious to her deception. This is yet another example of dramatic irony, as
only the audience and Viola are aware of her true identity. This irony shows us that Orsino has been
outsmarted by a female, straying from the traditional patriarchal views of women and consequentially
reinforcing Dusinberre s critique of the text. In our modern society, with this current new wave of
feminism, this message is particularly relevant, and so would arguably have a greater impact on an
audience than the shame felt from Twelfth Night would. If it is to have a greater effect, then it is
superior to Shakespeare s evocation of shame, and thus feeling ashamed cannot be the ultimate effect
of Shakespeare s Twelfth

27. Nacl Solubility
NaCl or sodium chloride salt has one of the highest levels of solubility in water due to its ionic bonds,
which easily breaks apart in a polar solvent meanwhile, sodium chloride is not soluble in hexane
because of the structure and polarity of hexane that is non polar. Thus, when NaCl is put into hexane,
the charged particles and the non polar particles would stay altogether resulting in no mixing or
dissolution. Naphthalene is non polar covalent solute therefore it dissolves in non polar solvent
(hexane) and it will not be able to dissolve in water, which is polar solvent. Citric acid and sodium
bicarbonate is soluble in water because both substances are polar, causing it to be insoluble in hexane.

Since NaCl is an ionic bond, the negative chloride ions (Cl ) are attracted by the positive sodium ions
(Na+) and by the hydrogen atom in the polar water molecule. Both chloride ions and the oxygen atom
in the polar water molecule attract the positive sodium ions. This is where it triggers the dissolving
process within the NaCl molecule. The crystal lattice in NaCl will start breaking down when the
attraction for the ions by the water molecules is stronger. Once the ions are released from the crystals,
the broken up ions will be entirely surrounded by water molecules, and the water will start breaking
down the solute even further. Thus they are soluble in water and not soluble in hexane, due to the
difference in the polarity. Therefore, when NaCl is mixed with hexane, the charged particles and the
non polar particles would stay altogether and result in dissolution or no mixing will

28. The Importance Of The Past In The Dew Breaker
The past is so vital to the characters of Danticat s novel The Dew Breaker because despite most of the
trauma the characters have undergone in the past, they must keep living with it and tell their story. One
piece of symbolism that is persistent between every chapter are the scars that every character has.
Scars have been a central image of this novel both literally and metaphorically. Each character has
their unique scars that they must carry with them. The story, in the end, talks about how the scars of
the past are the scars of the future. Every scar is a symbol of the characters painful history that they
had to overcome, and now they must carry their past with themselves forever. The scars of the past
define precisely the importance of the past for every individual character. The past is a part of all
people at all moment. Past scars lie over all of the characters in this novel. A character like Ka s father
is once corrupted by partaking in a violent, dictatorial regime. A character like Beatrice is haunted by
the horrors that impose on her in the past. The past is inescapable because it is a core part of a person
that it largely dictates the reasoning behind their actions in present situations. The past is something
which haunts each of the characters in the novel for different reasons. It left a scar on them that they
must forever live with. The past haunts ka s father as a dew breaker under the authority of a Haitian
Dictator. My father never liked

The French Resistance (La Résistance française) was a collaboration of individual movements against
the German occupation of France and the Vichy regime that complied with the Nazis during World

economic and political spectrum united in different Résistance groups to perform guerilla attacks, run
underground newspapers, provide intelligence to and from the allies, and manage escape networks to
allied territory for political enemies and others persecuted by the Nazis (Aubrac, 3).

Government punished the people collectively, even stating in policy at each further incident, a number,

the Résistance, openly rejected the Vichy government and was condemned to death by Pétain for
doing so. He operated out of Britain, and offered to the French people that anyone willing to fight for

Regularly occurring within a historical narrative is the prominence of non textual documentation
through the expression of symbols, iconography, and emotional memory. Inherently representational,
symbols are used to add a dimension in to a narrative. In the case of the Holocaust, symbols are used
to materially express the nearly unfathomably reality of its events. But, what do we do with often
emotionally charged perceptions of history? Symbols can be used as evidence, and as a way to
connect the past to the present commemorating the time period in which they encapsulate. But
symbols are culturally created, as objects are assigned a meaning often during but more importantly
after events have passed. In the case of the Holocaust, the train ... Show more content on

With the acquisition of new territory the number of Jews under Nazi control increased dramatically by
the summer s end of 1941. The Jewish Problem no longer became geographically confined to Reich
but rather became a pan European wide crisis. The policy of territorial relocation of Jews became
unfeasible. Additionally, despite the success of the Einsatzgruppen shootings there were simply few
too many men to eradicate the growing number of Jews. It was during this critical stage approximated
between July and December 1941 that Hitler abandoned previous plans of emigration and mobile
killings to that of a complete extermination of Jews from the entire continent of Europe. In order to do
so, Jews would be deported to six centrally located extermination camps in occupied Poland;

The stylistic choices of symbols and setting description are crucial to the engagement of the reader
and ultimately the expression of the main theme. The message of each story is enhanced by little
details like symbols and setting that add layers to the story and make it more interesting. The use of
setting to display the characters emotions reflects how humans are influenced by their emotions, while
the use of symbols reflects how there is often a deeper meaning or a hidden message behind common

33. Irish Hibernophobia
Though most Irish emigrants left their homes in search of a better lives free from persecution, those
who settled in the United States typically found equal levels of persecution yet, chose to remain
stateside because of the opportunities for work and the new found sense of community among Irish
immigrants in the United States. The first immigrant to enter the United States through Ellis Island,
Annie Moore, was a 15 year old from County Cork. Since the colonial times, Irish immigrants have
been ever present in the United States; however, also ever present is hibernophobia, or anti Irish
sentiment.
From the Norman Invasion in the late 12th century until the formation of the Irish Free State in 1922,
Ireland was either under direct English rule or subject to direct British political involvement. Under
British rule, the Irish were stereotyped as stupid, half human savages and later, as lazy, idle drunkards
(Judd). Not so much changed in terms of hibernophobia for those who left Ireland for the United
States. In fact, several new stereotypes were born. The Irish were again labeled lazy drunkards, an
ironic stereotype because of the contradicting occupational stereotypes of the Irish being policemen,
lawyers, firefighters, and bartenders which are well paying, steady jobs that could not be held by lazy
drunkards. The Irish were also stereotyped as violent because of the prevalence of usually criminal
gangs such as the Dead Rabbits and The Westies and events such as Bloody

36. Health Plan For Increase Expenditure
There are a number of products and initiatives being used by health plans to control expenditures and
maintain market competitiveness. Recent slowing in health expenditures has largely been due to price
changes, a shift from inpatient to outpatient care, and increased coverage. However, here I will focus
on operational changes within the health plan that can be made to decrease expenditures. I will discuss
how investing in disease management programs, wellness incentives, and value based insurance
design now can be used to control rising healthcare expenditures in the future while adding value for
consumers. I will also discuss the challenges involved with implementing these initiatives.
Disease Management Programs:
Background
A small portion of the patient population accounts for a disproportionate amount of health care
expenditures primarily due to chronic illness (Shelton, 2002). Because of this, and the overall rise in
healthcare costs, stakeholders have been searching for ways to target this small but expensive group of
people. One way is through disease management programs. It is a common belief that education and
preventive measures make it easier to manage chronic illness and reduce adverse outcomes including
lengthy hospitalizations (Shelton, 2002). Although these programs are fairly new and there isn t much
data to support or refute their success, this is an area worth exploring to potentially curve skyrocketing
healthcare expenditures.

37. Courage Is A Common Trait Among Great Literary Protagonists
Courage is a common trait among great literary protagonists. From Hermione Granger in J.K Rowling
s Harry Potter series to the eponymous character in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre, courage is a trait that
many authors use to incite the audience s support and encouragement of the courageous character.
However, courage is not always represented definitively in the same way; Hermione Granger and Jane
Eyre both display courage physically and morally, still, some would argue that one character is more
courageous than the other or that one type of courage is a better representation of the word. At its core,
the debate comes down to a matter of linguistics and the development of the English language, but
more interesting literature stems from the debate of the socially correct usage, Harper Lee s To Kill A
Mockingbird tackles the challenge of defining courage. Lee asserts that courage is the act of striving
to meet a difficult goal in order to increase one s positive contribution to a society. This definition of
courage is displayed through the actions, words, and beliefs of the characters; Arthur Boo Radley,
Mrs. Dubose, and Atticus Finch. Arthur Boo Radley is a reclusive character who falls victim to
Maycomb s small town ideology of hiding rather than solving its problems, as well as its close knit
community of gossip and rumours. Boo Radley makes an ongoing effort to defy these rumours and
break free of his hiding despite being hindered by nearly every citizen of Maycomb.

39. The Rights Of The Civil War
The democracy we know today would not exist without an evolution of liberties and freedoms. The
advancement of freedoms resulted from the changes in the British government. Moving from the Civil
War to the Revolution, there are several forms of liberties presented. Before colonization, the first
signs of freedom can be seen in the Magna Carta. The signed Magna Carta prevented the tyrannical
monarch King John. W from abusing his powers (Synan). Feeling threatened by John s powers,
Englishmen formed a regulation known as Habeas Corpus, which would protect themselves from
unjust persecutions. Habeas Corpus allows the accused a right to a trial before prosecution.
Englishmen were finally taking a stand for their freedom when they created this law. Habeas Corpus
could be seen as the first sign of democracy s formation (Synan). Still, Habeas Corpus constitutes a
large part of today s democracy. Englishmen were finally beginning to understand government should
have power limitations.
As leaders turned over, King Charles began to rule over England. Both him and his wife Henrietta, a
disciple of Christianity, caused great animosity toward the King (Stax 96). Not only was the man
hated for his religious practices but, he also ruled with divine rights. Meaning, King Charles ruled
through God s actions. In a society established on Protestantism, Englishmen felt Christians were

The Power of Warfare The role of warfare played a tremendous role in the nineteenth century efforts
of nation building. Warfare gave rise to an increase of self pride within people, known as nationalism,
which allowed the people within countries to unite and further expand for the greater good of their
country. Warfare was used by countries like Italy, Germany, and Great Britain to build their nations by
attempting to unify there territories and establish their own governments with force. Warfare was used
to unite territories under one power, increase a country s borders, and to implement fear into other
countries to ensure that proper diplomatic processes were met to prevent invasion. Following the
Napoleonic Wars, there was a great amount of diplomatic instability within Europe, and in the Italian
states there was a call to unify every state into one nation, Italy (text, 717). A leader of the unification
movement, Camillo di Cavour (1810 1861) wanted to prevent chaotic revolutions to unite Italy, rather
he wanted to unify the Italian states by promoting the economic developments of the Italian states

44. Usher Alliteration
Poe uses metaphor and alliteration in combination with vivid description to establish a mood of heavy
pressure while introducing his theme of alienation in The Fall of the House of Usher. over everyday
events and is a central theme in the course of this story. A haughty and vocal sailor falls ill after
complaining about the sick and gets thrown overboard, taking the last of the sickness with him,
leaving the rest of the healthy passengers safe and praising God s grace. Later there comes a time
when the ship is missing a screw and a sailor happens to have one to fix the ship. This might possibly
be the greatest miracle of all because the ship can continue its journey instead of waiting to capsize.

This was due to the fact that Edward believed the Bible was a source of knowledge and historical
truths. This meant that Hell was a real place; the boundaries of Christianity could not be debated; God
s power was huge and his wrath unforgiving; the time to repent was coming to an end and only God
put off the Last Judgment. The sermon relies on fire and brimstone imagery, long sentences, rhetoric,
repetition and the use of similes throughout the deliverance to deliver its message. During the sermon
he likens God s wrath to many things such as: Dreadful pit of glowing flames ; Like great waters that
are dammed for the present ; Black clouds of God s wrath, full of the dreadful storm, and big with
thunder ; The bow of God s wrath is bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and justice bends
the arrow at your heart. He views God as merciless and unrelenting by saying that God will no longer
hold them up in these slippery places, but will let them go... Edwards uses tools such as predestination
to scare his listeners by saying They are already under a sentence of condemnation to hell. He
repetitively mentions the fact that it is only the power and mere pleasure of God that holds you up. His
use of long sentences that drag on and on, creating a mood of depression and frustration although he

45. The Capitalists Who Shaped Post-Civil War America
Accurately established by many historians, the capitalists who shaped post Civil War industrial
America were regarded as corrupt robber barons . In a society in which there was a severe imbalance
in the dynamics of the economy, these selfish individuals viewed this as an opportunity to advance in
their financial status. Thus, they acquired fortunes for themselves while purposely overseeing the
struggles of the people around them. Presented in Document A, as liveried carriage appear; so do
barefooted children , proved to be a true description of life during the 19th century. In hopes of
rebuilding America, the capitalists hunger for wealth only widened the gap between the rich and poor.

As the capitalists continued their corruption, the wealthy class became wealthier; but the poorer class
became more dependant. The gulf between the employed and the employer was growing wider
(Document A). Similarly, many actions performed by these capitalists, contributed to the sorrowful
lives of many farmers, who were struggling to survive. Pursuing this further, the rich soil of the West
was becoming poor, and floods contributed to the problem, and, eventually caused erosion. Beginning
in the summer of 1887, a series of droughts forced many people to abandon their farms and towns. As
circumstances worsened, farmers were beginning to be controlled by corporations and processors. The
farmers were at the mercy of many trusts, which, in turn, could control the productivity and raise
prices to high levels. Furthermore, during the late 19th century, many farmers considered monopolies,
trusts, railroads, and money shortages as evident threats to their lifestyle. The rise of these monopolies
and trusts worried many farmers because they felt that the disappearance of competition would lead to
erratic and unreasonable price rises that would harm consumers. Oftentimes, these robber barons
would prevent competitors from reaching the markets by restricting their ability to transport their
goods. In Document E, James B. Weaver wrote of the main weapons of the trust organized commerce:
threats, intimidation, bribery, fraud,

48. Siren Song Comparison
In the songs Song to the Siren by Tim Buckley and Sirens Song by Miss May I, the allusion to the
Siren song and the Sirens has the effect of influencing the reader into feeling sympathetic for men
manipulated by deadly women. This illustration is evident in the female character in these songs,
which presents the femme fatale archetype by being alluring yet quite dangerous. In the song Song to
the Siren, Tim Buckley writes Now my foolish boat is leaning/ broken lovelorn on your rocks
(Buckley). This allusion relates to the outcome many sailors faced when moving past the alluring
Sirens. The Siren song influenced sailors to abandon their ships and swim to the Siren s island, where
they were promptly devoured. Sirens caused the shipwrecks of many vessels in this ... Show more

By spending just a night with a femme fatale type woman, men can suffer extreme harm or even
death. The sheer power a Siren has over sailors passing her island can make a reader feel sympathetic
for these relatively powerless sailors. This power that women can have over men is illustrated in a
strong manner with this allusion, and leads to a reader feeling sorry for these men. Furthermore, Tim
Buckley, showing the indecision that could strike a man when confronted by a threatening woman,
writes I am puzzled as the newborn child/ I am troubled at the tide:/ Should I stand amid the
breakers?/ Should I lie with death my bride? (Buckley). The mental argument that a man has of
whether or not to go the the woman who is calling him or to stay where he is can be likened to the
decision the sailors had to make upon hearing the Siren. The allusion to the victims of the Sirens
debating whether or not to jump off their ship and swim to the Sirens is similar to the situations that
men in Buckley s era would have to deal with when faced with the questions of whether to become
intimate with a threatening women or

49. Management Approaches
Contemporary Theories of Management
Contingency Theory
Basically, contingency theory asserts that when managers make a decision, they must take into
account all aspects of the current situation and act on those aspects that are key to the situation at
hand. Basically, it s the approach that it depends. For example, the continuing effort to identify the
best leadership or management style might now conclude that the best style depends on the situation.
If one is leading troops in the Persian Gulf, an autocratic style is probably best (of course, many might
argue here, too). If one is leading a hospital or university, a more participative and facilitative
leadership style is probably best.
Systems Theory
Systems theory has had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the system splits, combines with another complex system or falls apart entirely. Sound familiar? This
trend is what many see as the trend in life, in organizations and the world in general.

combination of workers (the social system) and their knowledge, training and tools (the technical
system) leads to organizational effectiveness in satisfying customers. Emphasis: Social + Technical
Quantitative management is another contemporary approach to management that prioritizes
mathematical or statistical analysis as basis for decisions. Emphasis: Quantitative analysis
The organizational behavior contemporary approach mainly considers the behaviors and interactions
of workers. Emphasis: Individual and
