The Course of Human Evolution Essay
Human life histories are understood to consist of different levels of factors that contribute to the
variation and evolution of human health, and this can be analyzed by categorizing the various lifetime
events on a fast slow continuum (Promislow Harvey, 1990 as cited in Kaplan, Lancaster, Robson,
2003). Mammals, for example, are located on the fast end of the continuum and are known to
reproduce early, have a shorter period of pregnancy, grow into smaller body sizes, and produce a great
amount of offspring that are vulnerable to death. On the other hand, species scattered on the other end
of the continuum tend to have characteristic that are opposite to those of mammals (Kaplan et al.,
2003). These changing momentums are generally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How has human health history progressed? In order to understand the momentum of human evolution,
we have to look at that evolution from several different perspectives. Kaplan et al. (2003) proposed an
embodied capital theory which suggests that there has been an integration of life history and
investment in economics that forms the building blocks of somatic appearance. This theory purports to
explain the development and maintenance of human health. The embodied capital refers to the
physical organization of the human body and the functions of the various internal organs (Kaplan et
al., 2003). This capital provides solutions to problems that may not have been addressed or completely
understood. For example, the human brain is one type of embodied capital that supports the ability to
learn new information even after adulthood has been reached, notwithstanding the fact that in
adulthood the brain has reached its peak mass (Kaplan et al., 2003). Nonetheless, due to the tendency
of devaluation in such embodied capital, there seems to be some costs and benefits throughout one s
lifetime. For example, there may be a reduction in the brain system and cognitive perception early in
life that results in incompetence of human infants (Kaplan et al., 2003). On the other hand, in a
circumstance where there is little information to absorb, the human

Role Of Religion In Hamlet
In Shakespeare s Hamlet, religion is a significant aspect, adding further meaning to certain scenes.
Hamlet, is set in Denmark which at the time it was written, was a Lutheran state (Rulli). Hence, it is
implied that the Danish are an extremely religious people, believing in the supernatural and the
afterlife. Mirroring this, the characters in Hamlet were extremely religious, specifically Claudius and
Hamlet Jr. In act III, scene iii of the play, Claudius prays for forgiveness of his sins while Hamlet Jr. is
spying on him. Though Hamlet Jr. intended to kill Claudius at that point, he spares his life because it
is believed that if someone is killed while they are praying, they will go to heaven. Through this event,
Shakespeare is able to progress

Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies Essay
Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies
When many people hear the word therapy, they think of something that has caused a problem and has
to be fixed. In most cases, that is true. Most people think the problem may be an injury that has to be
rehabilitated or an extreme mental problem where the person needs serious help. However, therapy
does not always deal with injured or mentally troubled people. Three types of therapy that help a wide
range of people with their problems are physical, occupational, and speech therapies.
Physical therapy is the one that deals mostly with injuries and their rehabilitation. According to the
Occupational Outlook Handbook, Physical therapists provide services that help restore ... Show more

The other type of therapy that may deal some with injuries is occupational therapy. Enhancing fine
motor skills is the focus of this therapy. Occupational therapists set a goal for their patients which
enables them to have more independent, productive, and satisfying lives by teaching them how to
perform daily functions without the aid of others. Some of these functions may include eating, getting
dressed, or using the bathroom. Exercises that improve balance, coordination, trunk control, dexterity,
and basic muscle movement are used towards a person s road to an easier lifestyle. Occupational
therapists work mainly with people who have disabilities. These may include people with spinal cord
injuries, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, or people who have had a stroke ( Occupational ).
Occupational therapy is my current major of study, so I am doing volunteer work for several therapists
right now at Parent Child Services in West Knoxville. It is very interesting to sit and observe each
session. I am presently observing a four year old victim of near drowning who was thought to be dead,
but was brought back to life. His focus is on balance and coordination right now. I am also observing a
child with cerebral palsy. He is one of my favorite children to work with. He is working on
strengthening his muscles in his trunk and legs while continuing to work on balance and coordination.

Workers Comp Insurance Case Study
4 Situations Where You Could Not Collect Workers Comp
The purpose of workers comp is to give financial protection to employees that become injured while
working for their employer. Unfortunately, not all employees are eligible to receive workers comp. Be
aware of these situations where you would not receive benefits.
When An Employer Does Not Have Workers Comp Insurance
Some employers are not required to purchase workers comp insurance. This is because each state has
their own laws concerning which businesses must purchase the insurance.
For instance, in the state of New York, a small partnership owned by one or two people doesn t need to
purchase workers comp insurance. In North Carolina, a business is only required to have workers
comp insurance if there are at least 3 employees, and at least 10 employees if it is an agricultural ...

They have their own compensation act that will give an injured employee benefits, no matter where
the injury occurred, as long as they were performing a function of their job while receiving a federal
government paycheck. The compensation act also covers any occupational diseases that are sustained
over multiple days or shifts.
When You Are Employed As A Harbor or Longshore Worker
There are some occupations that also have their own compensation acts, such as those that are
employed as a longshore or harbor worker. This covers employees that are responsible for loading,
offloading, and securing ships, as well as ship builders. If injured on the job, the compensation act has
their own process for receiving benefits that would make you ineligible for workers comp.
Keep in mind that you may work in that job field, but still qualify for workers comp benefits. This
includes office workers that are not doing the manual labor.
If you have questions about a workers comp case, speak with a lawyer in your area for a

Taking a Look at Superconductors
In the sixties, Kulik had used the mechanism of Andreev reflection to explain how a metal carries
dissipation less current between two superconductors.
Andreev later discovered that an electron incident on a superconductor with energy lying within the
gap region gets reflected as a hole, which is the basic essence of Andreev reflection.
A charge of 2e is lost in the process which gets absorbed into the superconductor as a Cooper pairs.

The same process occurs for a hole as an incident particle; in this case, the reflected particle will be an
electron and the Cooper pair absorbed by the superconductor with be formed by two holes.

An important application of Andreev reflection is in the study of tunneling of Cooper pairs in a
Josephson Junction.
The transmission of Cooper pairs from one superconductor to another can be understood by
considering the reflection of an eletron and hole into each other at the boundaries of the two
superconductors.
This leads to conversion of normal current into dissipationless supercurrent. This supercurrent varies
sinusoidally with the phase difference of the two superconductors and attains a maximum at the
critical value of current which can flow through the junction.

If an external magnetic field is applied to the barrier region of the junction, it alters the phases of the
two superconductor, so that their net phase difference remains gauge invariant. As a consequence, the
current through the junction also gets modified in the

The Importance Of Vital Signs Of Essential Signs Essay
The Importance of Vital Signs: Introduction Vital signs are common exams performed by medical
professionals that assess the essential functions of the human body. These exams are imperative in a
clinical setting as they help to determine the overall health of a patient. During a routine vital sign
examination, hospital personnel such as nurses or certified nursing assistants must evaluate the patient
s body temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure in order to obtain an adequate
assessment of the patient. Typically, radiographers are not often required to collect their patients vital
signs. However, it is crucial for a radiographer to know how to acquire a patient s vital signs in case of
an emergency situation.
The Importance of Vital Signs: Body Temperature Body temperature is a vital sign that determines the
body s ability to produce and eliminate heat. According to the article, Vital Signs (Body Temperature,
Pulse Rate, Respiration Rate, Blood Pressure), The normal body temperature of a person varies
depending on gender, recent activity, food and fluid consumption, time of day, and in women, the
stage of the menstrual cycle. As a result of the variations in body temperature, the normal body
temperature is given a range between 96.4º F to 99.1º F for an average adult. A temperature recorded
as 100.4º F or above is considered a fever which indicates that the body is battling against infection or
disease. On the other hand, if the body temperature

The Internet And Its Impact On The World
The internet is a vast place with information on every topic known to man, even the unnecessary ones
but only 0.03 percent (Jones 2014) of the internet is surfed by the majority of the population. The
other ninety nine point ninety seven percent is left untouched. That other large percentage is possible
to get to but companies like google, bing, and yahoo haven t cracked the code on how to do it but at
the same time choose not to incorporate that large percentage because they think it s too risky to do so.

Now how sites become deep web material is anything from: requiring a password to getting in ,or
encrypted ,or the website is trying not to be found. Thats where programs like Tor come along or
otherwise known as the onion router because the process Tor uses is known as onion routing. Onion
routing is the idea that if someone wants to access a website they go from point A to B like on the
regular internet but since onion routing/Tor is built on anonymity they get from point A to B by adding
more points so on onion routing the user would go from point A to B to C to D to E to F or however
many it takes. How they do this is when a user sends a signal that they want to go to a website then
that signal will be encrypted and sent to a node or just another computer. When the signal gets to that
node a layer of the encryption will be solved and then sent to another node and the same thing will
happen till the signal reaches it s final destination. This process means that search times are a little
longer then normal but it is to insure that the user stays as undetectable as possible. Now Tor s system
is designed in a way that anyone can be a node if they wanted too, all that means is that traffic will go
through the users pc (Tor 2005).
The Deep Web gets a lot of bad reputation due to what resides in the depths. Because the Deep Web is
so difficult to navigate, it leads to many illegal things being stored

Black Rhino Research Paper
Through out the past couple of week, my group has been learning a lot about Black Rhinos. The
reason why we choose to about our paper on Black Rhino was because we wanted to learn more about
them. We thought that learning about an animal that has been on the planet for so many years, it would
be interesting to see what issues that they are being faced with and what it happening to them. We
have heard about rhino as when were kids, and throughout this assignment we able to learn what we
wanted to know as children. We wanted to know why more about why Black Rhino were critically
endangered and what moments in history that many there status drop. After, the Cecil the Lion

Looking into the Black Rhinos, I was able to learn to learn so much of the issues that many of the
rhinos are facing. It was astounding to see that these rhino are being affected by poaching and habitat
loss. For me, personally the poaching was the most horrific thing that I never wanted to see happen to
a rhino. The thing that really bothered me was the poaching had dramatically declined the rhino
population in the 50s and 60s. Many people, who poached the rhino, literally left them to die and they
care about the repercussion of the situation. They caused the population of the rhinos to decline and
they not think about the affect it had to the ecosystem and they continue not to care. As long as they
are able to get what they want, they do not care about the global effects this has. Throughout the
research that as done about black rhino, we learned that black rhino are poached for many different
reasons, as some was discussed for Chinese medicine or Jambaya handle or as an aphrodisiac. This
assignment helps me understand that poaching for rhino horns that the horns are similar to horses

How Technology Has Made Braces Faster And More Efficient
Daily, children and adults all over the world flood into orthodontic offices for consultations, routine
management checkups, and the rest. The majority of people in today s age have had or will have
braces at some point in their life. However, most people may not be aware of the downsides to
appliances such as braces. Although advancements in orthodontic technology have made braces faster
and more efficient, they are causing unnecessary stress on ligaments and gene tissue found inside the
mouth because of the new found techniques to speed up tooth movement. To start, there are many
children and adults undergo orthodontic treatment mainly for appearance; however, there are many
health concerns braces and other appliances can fix. Braces for teeth consist of bands connected by
wires and, sometimes, small rubber bands. Orthodontists use braces to correct irregular positioning of
the teeth and jaws ( Specialties of Dentistry 144). Correcting jaw alignment can help improve the pain
felt during biting and other jaw movements. Braces can be applied to one s mouth for any duration of
time ranging anywhere from 8 to 26 months. Orthodontic appliances are designed to fix malocclusions
of the mouth, which literally means bad bite , and can be painful if not treated. Hilton explains, In a
controlled manner, dental appliances gently force teeth to move through the supporting bone to a
desired position. The purpose of the appliances is to correct tooth crowding, overjet or protruding

Forshadowings And Mood In The Scarlet Ibis By James Hurst
Have you ever despised your sibling/s at one point, but later started to appreciate them in your life? In
James Hurst s short novel, The Scarlet Ibis, Doodle is a disabled child and the narrator is his brother,
who despises him. The narrator, known as Brother, wanted to murder Doodle due to his disability, but
learns that Doodle is not much of a burden. He sets out to teach Doodle abilities that he could never do
before, but instead, he pressures him too far and ends up leading him to his tragic death. Thus, in The
Scarlet Ibis, Hurst uses diction, symbolism, foreshadowing, and similes to establish a horrifying mood
during the coffin scene part of the story, a melancholic mood during the death of the scarlet ibis, and a
dreary mood during the death of Doodle part of the story.
In the scene of the scarlet ibis s death, Hurst establishes a melancholic mood throughout the section.
As the scarlet ibis falls from the bleeding tree to its death, Doodle observes that the bird was still (10).
The stillness of the ibis heightens the melancholic mood in the scene, as readers might imagine a time
where they witnessed a death and felt a sense of sadness, thus creating a melancholic mood in the
section. Additionally, as the author compares the dead scarlet ibis and a broken vase, he states, for it
lay on the earth like a broken vase of red flowers (10). As the author distinguishes the similarities
between the scarlet ibis and the broken vase, it highlights how the ibis is

Light and Dark Imagery in Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is a novel about a man named Marlow and his journey into the
depths of the African Congo. Marlow is in search of a man named Kurtz, an ivory trader. Though
Marlow?s physical journey seems rather simple, it takes him further into his own heart and soul than
into the Congo. The setting, symbols and characters each contain light and dark images, these images
shape the central theme of the novel. Conrad uses light and dark imagery to help create the setting for
the story; light represents civilization while darkness suggests the uncivilized. The novel opens on the

The river Thames is the river that brings you into Europe, civilization, while the Congo brings you
into the jungle or darkness. Another important symbol in the story is the ivory. The ivory has a two
fold meaning and is a central theme in the novel. Ivory is taken from the tusks of male elephants; they
live in a pristine area untouched by humans. However, once the white man places a high price on the
ivory, the ivory turns from good to evil. Conrad uses the ivory as a representation of the greed and
corruption that is in the white mans soul. In the case of Kurtz this same greed and corruption overtook
his soul, and caused his death. Each character has a special role in the novel; Kurtz and Marlow are
the most important, through these two characters we are able to see how good and evil balance each
other out. Marlow?s journey into the heart of darkness can also be seen as a journey into his own soul.
He was in search of the darkest of objects, the ivory. Unlike Kurtz, Marlow was able to withstand the
darkness from controlling him. Kurtz soul became the darkness and caused him to forget everything
else there was to life. His last words were not that of love but rather of hate, ?The horrors the horrors.?

African Congo. By reading the novel and understanding all the imagery Conrad has inserted, we can

The Effects of Homework on Education
Introduction
The debate over homework has become a controversial one throughout the years. Most of the general
population is on the uprise to stop homework, while education providers try to endure its existence.
While the general population see homework as a burden and unnecessary, the real idea of homework
creates an obvious path of success. Part of that path to success is do to the instructors use of
homework in the correct manner. While the other path, is the completion and practice a student puts
forth for the understanding of the topic at hand. We create the sense of, why homework? Previous
research has helped show a usefulness of homework throughout our education system (e.g. Kenny,
2013; Marzano, 2007; Jorgenson, 2013; Griffith, 2013; Dejka, 2014). While research has been
conducted, there is never one concise choice that everyone can agree with. That is why the topic of
homework is of such high debate. The idea of homework, though, gives us the opportunity to expand
our learning and preparing us for what lies ahead.
Background When thinking of homework, we think of the standard definition, schoolwork that student
is required to do at home. Homework being bad is associated in every student s mind. Our thinking
involves that the teacher is just giving us busy work. In truth, the first definition is vague compared to
the true meaning of the term. A more concise description of homework includes, work or study done
in preparation for a certain event or situation.

A Study On Sexuality And Brotherly Love
More specifically, this passage followed First Thessalonians 4:1 12. This was the clear turning point in
the letter where Paul went from being happy about the Thessalonians faith to instructing them on how
to do better. In verse one, Paul wrote, Finally, which marked the transition, and went on to write, we
ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please
God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more. Paul then went on to clarify some teachings
about sexuality and brotherly love (1 Thessalonians 4:2 12). Presumably, Paul instructed on these
topics specifically because some of the Thessalonians had been struggling in these areas. This section
immediately followed First Thessalonians 3:6 13 which detailed Timothy s report to Paul on his visit
to Thessalonica. Since Timothy would have told Paul the problems the Thessalonians had been
dealing with, it would make sense that Paul would have addressed them after discussing Timothy s
report. Since First Thessalonians 4:13 18 followed this section of the letter, Paul would have continued
to discuss problems the Thessalonians were facing at the time. First Thessalonians 4:13 would confirm
this thought because Paul stated in it, we do not want you to be uninformed. Clearly, this section was
about correcting misinformation that was a problem in the Thessalonian church at the time.
Immediately following this passage was First Thessalonians 5:1 11. First Thessalonians

Analysis Of Indian Horse By Richard Wagamese
All Canadian s need to know of Canada s dark past. For many years aboriginal children were put
through boarding school ran by religious institutions, these schools were called residential schools.
The novel Indian Horse , by Richard Wagamese inculpates perfectly what the kids went through
before, during and after residential schools. The book also gives insight on current issues that the
survivors of the school face after they are dropped into the real world. It is also important that older
generations read this novel as older people have not learned about residential schools while they were
in school. Canadians need to read Indian horse by Richard Wagamese in order to discover why
reconciliation is needed for the Aboriginal people of Canada.
Children had to endure many terrible and horrific things while attending a residential school. They
endured physical, mental and sexual related trauma. Many of these things happened to Saul (the books
protagonist) while attending St. Jerome s (the residential school). Saul had to deal with being sexually
assaulted by a character named Father Leboutilier numerous times. It s a big part of the book because
it shows how the kids would not accept reality, they would rather doubt or never accept they were
assaulted much like Saul never admitted that it happened till much later in life (Wagamese 199). In
addition, it s important for others to read about what happened to Saul because it shows that even the

Alan Lomax s Influence On Modern Popular Music
In this essay I am going to give a brief history of John and Alan Lomax, discussing how they came to
be involved with the collection of cowboy ballads. I will then go on to talk about their musical
endeavours between the years of 1930 1980, and how their work had influence on modern popular

potentially shaped the path of recorded music as we know it.

John Lomax was a known collector of folk music, particularly cowboy ballads. Before Lomax, no one
had really thought of cowboys as a source for folk songs. In his autobiography he says that he first

Some of the villages at times had to give away about 20% of the boys in the Millet or community,
though this was almost only in the conquered states like the Balkan provinces.
When these kids were taken they were first examined to see if they were more suited for brains or
brawns. After that, they were taken to the Palace school where they were taught calligraphy, maths,

languages such as Turkish, Arabic and Persian. The school was considered as one of the best in the
Islamic world.
After graduation, many of these children went on to take high positions in the empire. Because the

gatekeepers, guards or soldiers in the Janissaries, there are even records stating that some of them

Product
A product is anything that can be offered to a market for attention, acquisition, use, or consumption
that might meet people s satisfaction or demand.(Kotler Armstrong, 2014, p.248).The healthy portion
diet pill is one of the shopping products , which would take consumers a considerable amounts of time
to make the final choice. The competition among the diet supplements is quite fierce, but a new
venture could manifest the competitive advantages if it masters and utilizes the concept of total
product. The main idea is to add more customer value in each level. (Kotler Armstrong, 2014). At the
core product level, what the customers actually want to pursue is shaping a slim figure without bearing
the pains from high pressure exercise. At the actual product level, the HP company is a relatively new
company so it has limited access to financial and material resources. Furthermore, the complementary

A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Bech Essay
This memoir about a boy soldier was very condescending. This was a true story for the author,
Ishmael Beah and his life changing events that occurred in his past. Ishamel Beah was a twelve year
old African boy who lived in Sierra Leone Africa who fled attacking rebels due to a civil war in his
country, who wandered into different villages trying to avoid the violence that seemed almost
inevitable. He sauntered along with his brother and friends who scraped by day by day scavenging for
food and struggled for survival. In the fifth chapter of the book, Beah describes the struggles he went
through by saying, ...our joints weakened and ached (p. 30). After days of traveling, Beah was

When Ishmael Beah was back in Sierra Leone, his villages were taken over by a rebellious group and
slaughtered his family along with others. He traveled for days with his brother and friend and then was
taken and transformed into a boy soldier who was convinced to seek revenge on the death of his own
family. This book really shows the transformation in him when he s in New York in the middle of a
mob of protestors and must restrain himself from anger. When he s put into this position, he tries not
to remember the time when he was a soldier and hold back those feelings in his inner self. What
Ishmael Beah wants us to know is that people can change no matter the struggles and it takes fight and
courage despite the events that have happened in your past. In the first chapter, Beah starts off with an
allusion about a movie called Rambo: First Blood. He was sharing his knowledge on what he knew
about war and that this movie was the only thing he knew and what happens in war. In the text he
says, The only wars I knew of were those... (p. 5). The author uses this device to show us how much
he really knew about war only being 10 years old. The only thing he knew about war was from what
he s read and watched about Rambo. He chooses an allusion because it is something that most
audience members can refer to and can comprehend the same knowledge that Beah had when he was
taken from the Rebels. Not only is this an allusion but also a

The New Jersey Bear Hunt
When you think of the word bear what comes to mind? Some people may possible think of Yogi the
bear or Smoky the bear. However, society sets up a positive connotation for bears though in reality
they are quite aggressive animals. Since this is a reality, New Jersey along with others states set up
hunting seasons. The New Jersey bear hunt is in two different segments, A and B. Segment A is held
within October fifth to the tenth and segment B is December fifth to the tenth. In 2015 there were 472

must take in order to successfully kill a bear. Although bears are typically calm creatures they can
become extremely aggressive and dangerous if threatened. Therefore, one must be aware of their
surroundings at all times and ready for any encounter. Normally bears are baited using some kind of
container cut open with fruit and other strong smelling foods to draw the bears in. Though dangerous
bear hunting does also provide a considerable amount of food for a family. Those you hunt typically
do so in order to obtain the meat from the animal. A typical black bear weighs about 240 pounds on

Symbolism In On The Waterfront
On The Waterfront Throughout the movie of On The Waterfront there is symbolic similarities between
the movie and a biblical verse. The verse pertaining to the movie is John 15: 18 19, which conveys a
message that the world will scorn upon uncommon practices that you may follow. Throughout the
movie there are three main characters that follow the symbolic guidelines of, someone who lives in the
light of christ, someone who is called out of darkness and into the light, and someone who prefers the
darkness to the light. The character who lives in the light of Christ is Father Barry. He is the only one
who fought for justice when Edie s brother Joey was murdered. Father Barry, despite being presented
with the intimidation of going against the major gang, pursued the case. His view was strictly on doing
what was right, not on the threats from Johnny Friendly s gang. Father Barry stood on the path of
justice alone trying to persuade followers to come out of the darkness and into the light to bring justice
to this murder. Everyone simply shot him down because nobody wanted to be a snitch, which was
looked down on by everyone. Even though it looked like there was no hope to the case Father Barry

Research Paper On Dorrence Corporation
Dorrence Corporation, large U.S. based pharmaceutical company with worldwide sales and
operations, had incredibly grown over past 28 years. The company did not have any loss during this
period. Nine Dorrence Corporation Operating Committee members would make very important
decisions, and they traditionally employed consensus management. The CEO of this company should
play a decisive role to persuade them to pass the bill that the company submitted to the meeting.
Dorrence s sale compound annual growth rate is 12% a year during the past 10 years, and its profits
have risen from 132 million dollars in 1979 to 558 million dollars in 1989, 15% on annual average.
Consequently, Dorrence s stock increased in value considerably. 65% of about 30,000 Dorrence
shareholders are composed of a comparatively small number of pension funds, mutual funds,
university endowments and insurance companies. Dorrence executives have around 2% of its stock
and all other employees have 2%.
The more Dorrence Corporation grew, the more the research expenditures were expanded. The
company disbursed its research and development costs at a higher rate than its sales growth because

Analyzing Cicero s On Duties
In On Duties, Cicero argues that the moral connection between humankind should know no
boundaries. While making many arguments for this statement, the strongest point that Cicero makes
concludes that the art of speech ties all humans together and separates us from animals. In this paper, I
will argue that Cicero s view on the fellowship among the human race, is more plausible than it might
at first appear.
In order to understand his influence, you must understand Cicero s background. Cicero had a
remarkable political career during the time of the Roman Empire. Unlike most citizens during this era,
he believed in peace and unity among all humans. This was a different view than the Romans as they
fought for everything they wanted, and were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cicero believed in equality and peace, in a time where men were raised only to fight and be violent to
their neighbors. Cicero was a visionary who opened up a side to a common argument on war and
peace, that others had not thought of yet. Cicero believed that through the power of speech, we as
humans could overcome our violent primal urges and rise above our primate cousins. Cicero also
believed that through this natural connection between mankind, came moral obligations that needed to
be kept, no matter what time it was, whether it be peace or war time. To every argument ever made,
comes at least one counter argument. In order to not fall victim to the counter argument, it is important
to keep your moral compass aligned and to remember that every human was created equal. It does not
matter where you are on the developmental scale because as long as you are human you are equal to
those around you. Cicero may have found this out ahead of his time, but that does not make his
argument at all less valid. When it comes to the Just War Tradition, it is important to keep all sides
opinions in mind, as this moral agreement will be a part of every civilizations lives. No matter how
hard anyone tries to be peaceful, there will always be an enemy who refuses to settle for anything but
war. If everyone must agree to a set of rules that govern how and why each war

in local clubs and edit them when he returned home. Being in the recording and music industry means
there is a need for instruments, gear, and location. According to Surack, there were no audio and
music dealers around that were trustworthy, this is where his niche first became. He began creating

Michael Sandel Morality
In the video, Michael Sandel discusses moral reasoning and moral decisions that people make. He
starts by giving an scenario where you are the driver of a trolley car, and you realize that the breaks
are broken. Ahead on the tracks there are 5 workers that are in the way. There is a separate track that
only has one worker on it that you can turn onto instead. He then gives the audience the choice of
staying on the track and killing the 5 workers or going onto the other track and only killing one. The
vast majority choose to redirect the trolley and only kill the one worker. Then Sandel gives another
variation of the same story where you are an onlooker of the scene and there is a fat man leaning over

One moral principle is consequentialists. They believe that it depends on the consequences that result.
For example, that it is better for 1 to die than for 5 to die. Consequentialists locate the morality in the
consequence of the act. Within this principle is the theory of utilitarianism which is the right thing to
do is to maximize utility, or over balance of pleasure over pain. In other words, the right thing to do
will maximize the overall level of happiness. He gives a real life example of the boat The Mignonette
whose boat crashed and they were stuck on a lifeboat with no water and little food. The young cabin
boy drank sea water and appeared as if he would die soon. So, the other 3 men on the lifeboat decided
that for the good of the majority, they would kill him and eat him. The audience was asked whether it
was morally right for them to do this. They were also asked if they would change their opinion had the
cabin boy giving consent, or if they would have done a lottery to see who would die. Many people did
not stick to this exact principle when Sandel altered the scenarios that were given slightly. This could
be because of another moral principle called categorical which locates morality in certain duties and
rights. So, in many cases, the people who changed their response did not think it was morally right for
them to take another person s life into their own hands where as in the initial scenarios, they didn t

How Did Rosalind Franklin Contribute To The Structure Of Dna
Who really discovered the structure of DNA? Though there were many scientists with contributions to
understanding the structure of DNA one scientist stood out above all others; Rosalind Franklin.
Although some people believed Watson and Crick made the most contributions to the discovery of the
structure of DNA, I believe Rosalind Franklin made the most contributions. Rosalind Franklin was the
scientist who took photos of DNA to figure out its form, proved phosphates are on the outside of DNA
strands, and performed calculations on DNA to prove DNA s structure. First, Rosalind Franklin was
able to take photos of DNA that helped in the discovery of the structure of DNA. Rosalind took photos
of DNA in a dry and wet state that helped to discovered the structure of DNA. When the DNA was
dry, the strands thickened to form a sharp scatter. When the DNA was wet the strands stretched to
form a distinctive x. The dry DNA took the form of a helix which helped her to conclude that the DNA
has phosphates. When Franklin took photos of DNA it was a huge milestone in the understanding of
the structure of DNA. Without photos of DNA there would be no evidence to prove any of the
scientists theories. Franklin s photos were a major step in figuring ... Show more content on

Watson and Crick were able to figure out the pairs of nucleotides before Franklin was able to figure it
out. This made sense that the base pairs are on the inside of the strands while the outside holds two
sugar phosphate strands. Watson and Crick, from looking at Rosalind s research, were also able to
conclude that DNA crystals could be flipped upside down and backwards, and still look the same
meaning the backbone to the structure must be identical and that they run in opposite directions. If no

Hooke Unnatural Conjugation
When studying putrifying substances , Hooke finds that with strange and unnatural copulations,
several new kinds of Animals are produc d (Hooke 99). What Hooke is discussing in this passage is
what he later refers to as accidental production (Hooke 106), his belief the production of moss, mould,
and mushrooms occurs without any concurrent seminal principle (Hooke 106). Despite the specifics of
Hooke s formulation, his belief in the productive power of strange and unnatural copulations (Hooke
99) resonates with Deleuze and Guattari s unnatural participations , and Latour s hybrids. Much like
Hooke s microscopic representations, for Deleuze and Guattari such conjugation involves terms that
are entirely heterogeneous: for example, a human being, an animal, and a bacterium, a virus, a
molecule, a microorganism (Deleuze and Guattari 242). Recent critical theory marks these couplings
as its declared area of study, but for Hooke it exists as an unintended network of analogy that inheres
to microscopic representation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How To Find A Reliable Health Website
Overview
In the era we are living in, the internet has become the number one source of information (it is the

It is this tendency that has led to the emergence of consumer health information that helps persons

Analysis Of The World Of Doublespeak By William Lutz
In the essay The World of Doublespeak , by William Lutz, the author gives the reader four different
questions to help one identify doublespeak. According to Lutz these questions are, who is saying what
to whom, under what conditions and circumstances, with what intent, and with what results? (par. 4).
These questions help to distinguish between truthful language and doublespeak. The first question,
who is saying what to whom? focuses on the relationship between the two people. The chance of
doublespeak being present increases greatly when the two people have a negative, or passive
aggressive, relationship. The next question, under what conditions and circumstances? focuses on the
events of what is going on. This question shows up prominently in events such as political rallies and
debates. The third question, with what intent focuses on the underlying goal of the statement. This
question raises the most suspicion, as it makes one really think about whether there is doublespeak
present. The final question what results ties in on the intent. The outcome of the doublespeak will be
different that that of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

very bad. For example, in 1984 the US State Department announced it would no longer use the word

eludes the readers into believing that the US does not have relations with nations that kill people.
Although the US continues to have relations with nations that kill people, the statements refer to those
nations as those that have unlawful or arbitrary deprivation of life happening instead of murder. This
effect results in tricking the people into false assumptions of the US s relations with other

The Ongoing Energy Debate
The Ongoing Energy Debate As we all know, the energy debate has been ongoing for decades. There
is a laundry list of opinions concerning energy use and production. When it comes to oil we are all too
aware of the price and demand for what has proven to be the most valued resource on the planet.
Advocates of alternate energies insist that the end of oil is nearer than most of us may think, while
proponents of petroleum assure us that due to technological advancements there are still large
untapped reserves which promise to see us through the next century despite our increasing demand for
this black gold.
One proponent of alternate energies, James Kunstler, author of The Long Emergency outlines the need
for an alternative fuel source, but also explains the pit falls of alternate energy sources. The reason oil
is such a valued and highly used commodity is because of its efficiency and wide range of uses
compared to other energy sources. The truth is that no matter what proponents of alternate energies
say, there is no good substitute at this time for oil which is largely the reason we re still using it.
Kunstler explains the pitfalls of hydrogen energy, coal and solar. The hydrogen used in fuel cells is
largely derived from natural gas resources, coal is less versatile and solar energy is expensive to
produce. Considering the cost of oil at the consumer level it seems common sense that if there was a
cheaper, comparably efficient substitute we would be jumping at the

institutional credit. It is true that there have been some improvements in flow of farm credit in recent
years. However, the Government has to be sensitive to the four distributional aspects of agricultural
credit. These are:
(a) not much improvement in the share of small and marginal farmers .
(b) decline in credit deposit (CD) ratios of rural and semi urban branches.
(c) increase in the share of indirect credit in total agricultural credit and.
(d) significant regional inequalities in credit. (Policies for Raising Agricultural Growth and
Productivity in India).
( S. Mahendra Dev, Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai)
The Government of India has already put in place an agriculture credit policy to improve access of
farmers to institutional credit. Steps would be taken for extensive coverage of farmers under the Kisan
Credit Card Scheme. Micro credit and micro insurance will be promoted as an effective tool for
encouraging production and reducing risk. Credit cooperatives have an important position and role in
the rural financial system and priority would be given to reforms and revamping of cooperative credit
institutions as per the recommendations of the Vaidyanathan Committee. Credit counselling centres
would be established where severely indebted farmers can be provided a debt rescue package/
rescheduling to save them from a debt trap. National Bank

Thalidomide In The 1950 s
Thalidomide is a pharmaceutical that was introduced in the 1950 s that was a seemingly simple drug
that was prescribed to take care of many ailments. Thalidomide was marketed to help with all kinds of
symptoms from the flu to morning sickness to something as simple as helping you sleep. It was
considered a medical panacea. The drug had many key selling points. Not only could Thalidomide
help with many symptoms, it was also marketed as safe for everyone including pregnant women.
When testing Thalidomide the LD50 seemed nonexistent. Additionally, as they increased the dose of
thalidomide to find a threshold, they found none. (The Shadow of Thalidomide, NYTimes).
Thalidomide was sold over the counter in Germany. In some European countries ... Show more

launched on October 31,1972. Money from the foundation was used to pay the victims of a
Thalidomide containing product from Grünenthal or one of its local distributors a one off capital sum
of a lifelong pension. (Grünenthal). Grünenthal paid approximately 63 million USD into the
foundation. The German Federal Government contributed another 55.5 million USD into the
foundation at the time. Some survivors claimed that the original settlements could not cover the cost
of their specialized care. Within the past several years, the German federal government made
additional contributions to continue financial support for those recognized as Thalidomide victims by
the German Contergan Foundation. Victims that have suffered heavily on a lifetime continuum,

The Development Of The Established Holy Bible
Marcion of Sinope The development of the established Holy Bible was a long, drawn out process that
started with the foundation of the original Jewish scriptures, formerly known as the Torah. Building
off of Jewish ideals, theologians and philosophers started compiling scriptures with the ultimate result
of the New Testament canon. Typically, many factors were taken into account when distinguishing the
credibility or incredibility of a given scripture. For example, apostolic succession, where and when it
was written as well as the cohesiveness with the other scriptures (referring to the Old Testament, as
well as the documents within what was to become the New Testament). There were various depictions
of the New Testament as the universally accepted canon was still developing, some of which
contained writings that were certainly questionable. However, there was an initial establishment of the
scriptural canon that jump started the process of paving the road towards the Holy Bible as we know it
today. It was the absurdity of Marcion s teachings and that prompted the church to establish an
orthodox position on doctrine. Marcion was native to Sinope in Pontus, a small port town off of the
inner coastline of Asia Minor. In Sinope, Marcion earned a fortune as a ship owner, which opened up
many doors for him down the road. In his travels, Marcion arrived in Rome and attempted to spread
his personal developments on Christian doctrine. In doing so, he donated a large sum of money

How Did Hernan Cortes Conquer The Aztec
Hernán Cortés is an important Spanish conquistador who was responsible for the fall of the Aztecs.
Cortes was born Medellin, Spain to a family of minor nobility. He chose to be part of the military in
the new world. The age of exploration basically started with Columbus finding the Americas. In the
beginning, Cortes moved to Santo Domingo in the west of the Indies. Couple of years later, he fought
under the supervision of Diego Velazquez. Cortes was supposed to sail to the Yucatan in 1519, it was
canceled because of the cost. Although Cortes conquered the Aztec Empire to make them join the holy
faith of Christianity, his main priorities were searching for gold for himself and to become in power.
Christianity was the most important part about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His main objective was achieving power to allow him to get more gold. He started by murdering the
Aztecs hoping to be honored in Spain for protecting the Spaniards. However, he didn t follow the
teachings of Christianity that were mentioned by Charles V which were It may be accomplished with
no offence to God, without death nor robbery of said Indians and without enslaving them, so that the
desire to spread our faith among them be achieved without grieving our consciences. This quotation
shows that the guidelines are clear about hoe the Native Americans are supposed to be treated. His
actions made it clear to the jury that he violated the teachings of Christianity and the commands of the
Holy Roman Emperor. According to the evidence provided from King Charles V, It was never the
policy of the Spanish crown to entrust the government of dependencies to their discoverers or
conquerors, and when powerful friends at Court sought in 1529 to prevail upon Charles the Fifth to
grant Cortes supreme power under the crown in Mexico, His Majesty was not to be persuaded
secondary. This testimony proved that Cortes achieved his second which is becoming in power.
However, Cortes deceived the emperor causing the emperor to make him the governor of Mexico.
Based on the evidence provided, Cortes achieved his second selfish goal which was becoming in
power. He achieved both of the goals mentioned above while killing the

Regional Differences Between The New England And The...
Although New England, primarily Massachusetts, and the Chesapeake, primarily Virginia, were both
settled largely by people of English origin, by 1700 the regions had evolved into two distinct societies.
This difference in development occurred for the following three reasons: the geography, purpose of
both colonies, and the priorities.
The geography of each region was vastly different. In the New England colonies, the rocky landscape
resulted in a short growing season. This contributed to a rise in use of abundant natural resources, such
as lumber, which made a successful ship building industry. On the other hand, in the Chesapeake
region, rich farmland and forests provided colonists with perfect harvest conditions. In 1673,
Governor Berkeley confirmed Virginia was intersected with many vast rivers as seen in Doc. G,
demonstrating their rich soil. The geography of the Chesapeake area was more ... Show more content

The New England colonies were mainly founded for spiritual purposes. Massachusetts was established
by Reformist Puritans in search for religious freedom. Their motives were religious, not economic.
The Articles of Agreement for Springfield, MA, 1636 in Doc. D, stated how the colony intended to
appoint a minister. This objective was first on a list of agreements made by the colonists, being the
most important. Although religion was the main reason for this region s founding, the Chesapeake Bay
area had different motives. Their settlers hoped to find gold or at least make a profit in some way. The
area was very industry based, as shown in their use of indentured servants, slaves, and harvest of the
cash crop, tobacco. Doc. F, written in 1624 by John Smith, recalls the first settlers and their goals, by
stating, There was no talk...but dig gold, wash gold, refine gold, load gold... . The main priority was
money. Religion did not play a large part here; the region thrived on making

Analysis Of Aaron Burr And Alexander Hamilton
The Oval Office symbolizes the government whenever public judgement casts the governmental
system in negative or positive light. Arguably, every presidential administration becomes marked by
the supposed corruption that lies within it, for the office is considered the Room Where It Happens
(Miranda and McCarter 186). In homage to the times of exclusion and inclusion of Aaron Burr and
Alexander Hamilton in this room during the founding father s era of government, Hamilton: The
Revolution, by Lin Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter, states that [one] feel[s] like [one has] been
Burr [..] as many times as [one has] been Hamilton (264). Nevertheless, as Miranda identifies to a
greater degree with Hamilton because of his rags to riches record, my ideologies gravitate towards
Burr from experiences in a culture where failure is condemned. Moreover, the eventual vilification of
Burr for his role in Hamilton s demise versus Hamilton s martyrdom for his reckless abandon leads me
to identify more with Burr as a victim of fallacious antagonization than Hamilton as an erroneous
martyr based on a single precept: one s reputation stems from a series of public judgements void of
consideration on individual detriment. Dominance acts as a form of dopamine to man s brain: it gives
man satisfaction from superiority and control over supposedly inferior beings. While Hamilton, the
immigrant with a lack of wealth and family, climbs up the echelons of the societal ladder, Burr is
forced to

The Mummy In Ancient Egypt
Imagine you re an archeologist exploring Egypt and you find an old tomb, one that has not been
ransacked. Strangely, the mummy is a pharaoh in only a rich man s tomb and it turns out this ruler
died young. The mummy is King Tutankhamun and he was killed by Aye, his chief advisor. Aye killed
King Tut for power over Ancient Egypt. Evidence shows that the pharaoh had many injuries before his
death. Aye killed King Tut when they were hunting. Evidence supports this because King Tut s Femur
was broken and the skin was cut which suggests a sudden act of violence, caused by Aye slicing the
young king s leg making him lose control and be crushed by his horse. Another piece of proof is that
the king had a hemorrhage in his skull that may have been an effect of the horse falling over. The ruler
had two separate resins applies at two times which hints that one was applied far away and the next
during mummification. Aye sabotaged and killed King Tut when hunting. When Aye ... Show more

Horemheb killed Aye because he saw him kill Ankhesenamun. Horemheb killed the Hittite prince
because the Egyptians and Hittites were enemies. He erased the names because their rules were
disgraceful in comparison to his great rule. He became pharaoh after Aye because Horemheb
convinced Tey, Aye s first wife, to marry him. Horemheb did several things during and after Aye s rule
of Egypt. Some believe Ankhesenamun was a Hittite spy. However Ankhesenamun was Nefertiti s
daughter. Ankhesenamun was not a Hittite spy. King Tutankhamun was a pharaoh killed by his chief
advisor. Evidence shows that King Tut s front rib cage is missing and it s likely Aye took it so the king
would not fare well in the afterlife. This would happen because it was believed the body needed to be
preserved in the afterlife. King Tut was murdered by Aye which put several events in

  • 2. The Course of Human Evolution Essay Human life histories are understood to consist of different levels of factors that contribute to the variation and evolution of human health, and this can be analyzed by categorizing the various lifetime events on a fast slow continuum (Promislow Harvey, 1990 as cited in Kaplan, Lancaster, Robson, 2003). Mammals, for example, are located on the fast end of the continuum and are known to reproduce early, have a shorter period of pregnancy, grow into smaller body sizes, and produce a great amount of offspring that are vulnerable to death. On the other hand, species scattered on the other end of the continuum tend to have characteristic that are opposite to those of mammals (Kaplan et al., 2003). These changing momentums are generally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How has human health history progressed? In order to understand the momentum of human evolution, we have to look at that evolution from several different perspectives. Kaplan et al. (2003) proposed an embodied capital theory which suggests that there has been an integration of life history and investment in economics that forms the building blocks of somatic appearance. This theory purports to explain the development and maintenance of human health. The embodied capital refers to the physical organization of the human body and the functions of the various internal organs (Kaplan et al., 2003). This capital provides solutions to problems that may not have been addressed or completely understood. For example, the human brain is one type of embodied capital that supports the ability to learn new information even after adulthood has been reached, notwithstanding the fact that in adulthood the brain has reached its peak mass (Kaplan et al., 2003). Nonetheless, due to the tendency of devaluation in such embodied capital, there seems to be some costs and benefits throughout one s lifetime. For example, there may be a reduction in the brain system and cognitive perception early in life that results in incompetence of human infants (Kaplan et al., 2003). On the other hand, in a circumstance where there is little information to absorb, the human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hamlet, is set in Denmark which at the time it was written, was a Lutheran state (Rulli). Hence, it is implied that the Danish are an extremely religious people, believing in the supernatural and the afterlife. Mirroring this, the characters in Hamlet were extremely religious, specifically Claudius and Hamlet Jr. In act III, scene iii of the play, Claudius prays for forgiveness of his sins while Hamlet Jr. is spying on him. Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies Essay Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies When many people hear the word therapy, they think of something that has caused a problem and has to be fixed. In most cases, that is true. Most people think the problem may be an injury that has to be rehabilitated or an extreme mental problem where the person needs serious help. However, therapy does not always deal with injured or mentally troubled people. Three types of therapy that help a wide range of people with their problems are physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Occupational therapists set a goal for their patients which enables them to have more independent, productive, and satisfying lives by teaching them how to perform daily functions without the aid of others. Some of these functions may include eating, getting dressed, or using the bathroom. Exercises that improve balance, coordination, trunk control, dexterity, and basic muscle movement are used towards a person s road to an easier lifestyle. Occupational therapists work mainly with people who have disabilities. These may include people with spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, or people who have had a stroke ( Occupational ). Occupational therapy is my current major of study, so I am doing volunteer work for several therapists right now at Parent Child Services in West Knoxville. It is very interesting to sit and observe each session. I am presently observing a four year old victim of near drowning who was thought to be dead, but was brought back to life. Unfortunately, not all employees are eligible to receive workers comp. Be aware of these situations where you would not receive benefits. When An Employer Does Not Have Workers Comp Insurance Some employers are not required to purchase workers comp insurance. This is because each state has their own laws concerning which businesses must purchase the insurance. For instance, in the state of New York, a small partnership owned by one or two people doesn t need to purchase workers comp insurance. • 6. Taking a Look at Superconductors In the sixties, Kulik had used the mechanism of Andreev reflection to explain how a metal carries dissipation less current between two superconductors. Andreev later discovered that an electron incident on a superconductor with energy lying within the gap region gets reflected as a hole, which is the basic essence of Andreev reflection. A charge of 2e is lost in the process which gets absorbed into the superconductor as a Cooper pairs. The same process occurs for a hole as an incident particle; in this case, the reflected particle will be an electron and the Cooper pair absorbed by the superconductor with be formed by two holes. An important application of Andreev reflection is in the study of tunneling of Cooper pairs in a Josephson Junction. The transmission of Cooper pairs from one superconductor to another can be understood by considering the reflection of an eletron and hole into each other at the boundaries of the two superconductors. This leads to conversion of normal current into dissipationless supercurrent. This supercurrent varies sinusoidally with the phase difference of the two superconductors and attains a maximum at the critical value of current which can flow through the junction. If an external magnetic field is applied to the barrier region of the junction, it alters the phases of the two superconductor, so that their net phase difference remains gauge invariant. As a consequence, the current through the junction also gets modified in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Importance Of Vital Signs Of Essential Signs Essay The Importance of Vital Signs: Introduction Vital signs are common exams performed by medical professionals that assess the essential functions of the human body. These exams are imperative in a clinical setting as they help to determine the overall health of a patient. During a routine vital sign examination, hospital personnel such as nurses or certified nursing assistants must evaluate the patient s body temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure in order to obtain an adequate assessment of the patient. Typically, radiographers are not often required to collect their patients vital signs. However, it is crucial for a radiographer to know how to acquire a patient s vital signs in case of an emergency situation. According to the article, Vital Signs (Body Temperature, Pulse Rate, Respiration Rate, Blood Pressure), The normal body temperature of a person varies depending on gender, recent activity, food and fluid consumption, time of day, and in women, the stage of the menstrual cycle. As a result of the variations in body temperature, the normal body temperature is given a range between 96.4º F to 99.1º F for an average adult. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now how sites become deep web material is anything from: requiring a password to getting in ,or encrypted ,or the website is trying not to be found. Thats where programs like Tor come along or otherwise known as the onion router because the process Tor uses is known as onion routing. Onion routing is the idea that if someone wants to access a website they go from point A to B like on the regular internet but since onion routing/Tor is built on anonymity they get from point A to B by adding more points so on onion routing the user would go from point A to B to C to D to E to F or however many it takes. How they do this is when a user sends a signal that they want to go to a website then that signal will be encrypted and sent to a node or just another computer. When the signal gets to that node a layer of the encryption will be solved and then sent to another node and the same thing will happen till the signal reaches it s final destination. This process means that search times are a little longer then normal but it is to insure that the user stays as undetectable as possible. Now Tor s system is designed in a way that anyone can be a node if they wanted too, all that means is that traffic will go through the users pc (Tor 2005). The Deep Web gets a lot of bad reputation due to what resides in the depths. Because the Deep Web is so difficult to navigate, it leads to many illegal things being stored ... How Technology Has Made Braces Faster And More Efficient Daily, children and adults all over the world flood into orthodontic offices for consultations, routine management checkups, and the rest. The majority of people in today s age have had or will have braces at some point in their life. However, most people may not be aware of the downsides to appliances such as braces. Although advancements in orthodontic technology have made braces faster and more efficient, they are causing unnecessary stress on ligaments and gene tissue found inside the mouth because of the new found techniques to speed up tooth movement. To start, there are many children and adults undergo orthodontic treatment mainly for appearance; however, there are many health concerns braces and other appliances can fix. Braces for teeth consist of bands connected by wires and, sometimes, small rubber bands. Orthodontists use braces to correct irregular positioning of the teeth and jaws ( Specialties of Dentistry 144). Correcting jaw alignment can help improve the pain felt during biting and other jaw movements. Braces can be applied to one s mouth for any duration of time ranging anywhere from 8 to 26 months. Orthodontic appliances are designed to fix malocclusions of the mouth, which literally means bad bite , and can be painful if not treated. • 11. Forshadowings And Mood In The Scarlet Ibis By James Hurst Have you ever despised your sibling/s at one point, but later started to appreciate them in your life? In James Hurst s short novel, The Scarlet Ibis, Doodle is a disabled child and the narrator is his brother, who despises him. The narrator, known as Brother, wanted to murder Doodle due to his disability, but learns that Doodle is not much of a burden. He sets out to teach Doodle abilities that he could never do before, but instead, he pressures him too far and ends up leading him to his tragic death. Thus, in The Scarlet Ibis, Hurst uses diction, symbolism, foreshadowing, and similes to establish a horrifying mood during the coffin scene part of the story, a melancholic mood during the death of the scarlet ibis, and a dreary mood during the death of Doodle part of the story. In the scene of the scarlet ibis s death, Hurst establishes a melancholic mood throughout the section. As the scarlet ibis falls from the bleeding tree to its death, Doodle observes that the bird was still (10). The stillness of the ibis heightens the melancholic mood in the scene, as readers might imagine a time where they witnessed a death and felt a sense of sadness, thus creating a melancholic mood in the section. Additionally, as the author compares the dead scarlet ibis and a broken vase, he states, for it lay on the earth like a broken vase of red flowers (10). The river Thames is the river that brings you into Europe, civilization, while the Congo brings you into the jungle or darkness. Another important symbol in the story is the ivory. However, once the white man places a high price on the ivory, the ivory turns from good to evil. Conrad uses the ivory as a representation of the greed and corruption that is in the white mans soul. In the case of Kurtz this same greed and corruption overtook his soul, and caused his death. Each character has a special role in the novel; Kurtz and Marlow are the most important, through these two characters we are able to see how good and evil balance each other out. Marlow?s journey into the heart of darkness can also be seen as a journey into his own soul. He was in search of the darkest of objects, the ivory. Most of the general population is on the uprise to stop homework, while education providers try to endure its existence. While the general population see homework as a burden and unnecessary, the real idea of homework creates an obvious path of success. Part of that path to success is do to the instructors use of homework in the correct manner. While the other path, is the completion and practice a student puts forth for the understanding of the topic at hand. We create the sense of, why homework? Previous research has helped show a usefulness of homework throughout our education system (e.g. Kenny, 2013; Marzano, 2007; Jorgenson, 2013; Griffith, 2013; Dejka, 2014). While research has been conducted, there is never one concise choice that everyone can agree with. That is why the topic of homework is of such high debate. The idea of homework, though, gives us the opportunity to expand our learning and preparing us for what lies ahead. Background When thinking of homework, we think of the standard definition, schoolwork that student is required to do at home. Homework being bad is associated in every student s mind. Our thinking involves that the teacher is just giving us busy work. In truth, the first definition is vague compared to the true meaning of the term. • 14. A Study On Sexuality And Brotherly Love More specifically, this passage followed First Thessalonians 4:1 12. This was the clear turning point in the letter where Paul went from being happy about the Thessalonians faith to instructing them on how to do better. In verse one, Paul wrote, Finally, which marked the transition, and went on to write, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more. Paul then went on to clarify some teachings about sexuality and brotherly love (1 Thessalonians 4:2 12). Presumably, Paul instructed on these topics specifically because some of the Thessalonians had been struggling in these areas. This section immediately followed First Thessalonians 3:6 13 which detailed Timothy s report to Paul on his visit to Thessalonica. Since Timothy would have told Paul the problems the Thessalonians had been dealing with, it would make sense that Paul would have addressed them after discussing Timothy s report. Since First Thessalonians 4:13 18 followed this section of the letter, Paul would have continued to discuss problems the Thessalonians were facing at the time. First Thessalonians 4:13 would confirm this thought because Paul stated in it, we do not want you to be uninformed. Clearly, this section was about correcting misinformation that was a problem in the Thessalonian church at the time. Immediately following this passage was First Thessalonians 5:1 11. I will then go on to talk about their musical endeavours between the years of 1930 1980, and how their work had influence on modern popular music before concluding with my opinion on their impact on music as we know it today and how they potentially shaped the path of recorded music as we know it. ! John Lomax was a known collector of folk music, particularly cowboy ballads. Before Lomax, no one had really thought of cowboys as a source for folk songs. In his autobiography he says that he first heard a cowboy sing when he was four years old, and that he began to write down some of the songs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How Did The Millet System In The Ottoman Empire Introduction The Ottoman Empire was an empire that came to its rise during the year 1299, the empire was a strong follower of the Islamic religion, they were also one of the biggest reasons for the spreading of the religion. The Holy crusades ended during the year 1291, this was just a few years before the Ottoman empire was founded. The Religious wars were far from finished though, religions would keep on fighting for their beliefs for a long time, even until the current day. This was a true story for the author, Ishmael Beah and his life changing events that occurred in his past. Ishamel Beah was a twelve year old African boy who lived in Sierra Leone Africa who fled attacking rebels due to a civil war in his country, who wandered into different villages trying to avoid the violence that seemed almost inevitable. He sauntered along with his brother and friends who scraped by day by day scavenging for food and struggled for survival. When Ishmael Beah was back in Sierra Leone, his villages were taken over by a rebellious group and slaughtered his family along with others. He traveled for days with his brother and friend and then was taken and transformed into a boy soldier who was convinced to seek revenge on the death of his own family. This book really shows the transformation in him when he s in New York in the middle of a mob of protestors and must restrain himself from anger. When he s put into this position, he tries not to remember the time when he was a soldier and hold back those feelings in his inner self. What Ishmael Beah wants us to know is that people can change no matter the struggles and it takes fight and courage despite the events that have happened in your past. In the first chapter, Beah starts off with an allusion about a movie called Rambo: First Blood. He was sharing his knowledge on what he knew about war and that this movie was the only thing he knew and what happens in war. In the text he says, The only wars I knew of were those... (p. 5). The author uses this device to show us how much he really knew about war only being 10 years old. The only thing he knew about war was from what he s read and watched about Rambo. While making many arguments for this statement, the strongest point that Cicero makes concludes that the art of speech ties all humans together and separates us from animals. In this paper, I will argue that Cicero s view on the fellowship among the human race, is more plausible than it might at first appear. In order to understand his influence, you must understand Cicero s background. Cicero had a remarkable political career during the time of the Roman Empire. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cicero believed in equality and peace, in a time where men were raised only to fight and be violent to their neighbors. Cicero was a visionary who opened up a side to a common argument on war and peace, that others had not thought of yet. Cicero believed that through the power of speech, we as humans could overcome our violent primal urges and rise above our primate cousins. Cicero also believed that through this natural connection between mankind, came moral obligations that needed to be kept, no matter what time it was, whether it be peace or war time. To every argument ever made, comes at least one counter argument. In order to not fall victim to the counter argument, it is important to keep your moral compass aligned and to remember that every human was created equal. It does not matter where you are on the developmental scale because as long as you are human you are equal to those around you. Cicero may have found this out ahead of his time, but that does not make his argument at all less valid. When it comes to the Just War Tradition, it is important to keep all sides opinions in mind, as this moral agreement will be a part of every civilizations lives. For example, that it is better for 1 to die than for 5 to die. Consequentialists locate the morality in the consequence of the act. Within this principle is the theory of utilitarianism which is the right thing to do is to maximize utility, or over balance of pleasure over pain. In other words, the right thing to do will maximize the overall level of happiness. He gives a real life example of the boat The Mignonette whose boat crashed and they were stuck on a lifeboat with no water and little food. The young cabin boy drank sea water and appeared as if he would die soon. So, the other 3 men on the lifeboat decided that for the good of the majority, they would kill him and eat him. The audience was asked whether it was morally right for them to do this. They were also asked if they would change their opinion had the cabin boy giving consent, or if they would have done a lottery to see who would die. Many people did not stick to this exact principle when Sandel altered the scenarios that were given slightly. This could be because of another moral principle called categorical which locates morality in certain duties and rights. Though there were many scientists with contributions to understanding the structure of DNA one scientist stood out above all others; Rosalind Franklin. Although some people believed Watson and Crick made the most contributions to the discovery of the structure of DNA, I believe Rosalind Franklin made the most contributions. Rosalind Franklin was the scientist who took photos of DNA to figure out its form, proved phosphates are on the outside of DNA strands, and performed calculations on DNA to prove DNA s structure. First, Rosalind Franklin was able to take photos of DNA that helped in the discovery of the structure of DNA. Rosalind took photos of DNA in a dry and wet state that helped to discovered the structure of DNA. When the DNA was dry, the strands thickened to form a sharp scatter. When the DNA was wet the strands stretched to form a distinctive x. The dry DNA took the form of a helix which helped her to conclude that the DNA has phosphates. Analysis Of The World Of Doublespeak By William Lutz In the essay The World of Doublespeak , by William Lutz, the author gives the reader four different questions to help one identify doublespeak. According to Lutz these questions are, who is saying what to whom, under what conditions and circumstances, with what intent, and with what results? (par. 4). These questions help to distinguish between truthful language and doublespeak. The first question, who is saying what to whom? focuses on the relationship between the two people. The chance of doublespeak being present increases greatly when the two people have a negative, or passive aggressive, relationship. The next question, under what conditions and circumstances? focuses on the events of what is going on. This question shows up prominently in events such as political rallies and debates. The third question, with what intent focuses on the underlying goal of the statement. This question raises the most suspicion, as it makes one really think about whether there is doublespeak present. By doing this, it eludes the readers into believing that the US does not have relations with nations that kill people. Although the US continues to have relations with nations that kill people, the statements refer to those nations as those that have unlawful or arbitrary deprivation of life happening instead of murder. This effect results in tricking the people into false assumptions of the US s relations with other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Ongoing Energy Debate The Ongoing Energy Debate As we all know, the energy debate has been ongoing for decades. There is a laundry list of opinions concerning energy use and production. When it comes to oil we are all too aware of the price and demand for what has proven to be the most valued resource on the planet. Advocates of alternate energies insist that the end of oil is nearer than most of us may think, while proponents of petroleum assure us that due to technological advancements there are still large untapped reserves which promise to see us through the next century despite our increasing demand for this black gold. One proponent of alternate energies, James Kunstler, author of The Long Emergency outlines the need for an alternative fuel source, but also explains the pit falls of alternate energy sources. The reason oil is such a valued and highly used commodity is because of its efficiency and wide range of uses compared to other energy sources. The truth is that no matter what proponents of alternate energies say, there is no good substitute at this time for oil which is largely the reason we re still using it. Kunstler explains the pitfalls of hydrogen energy, coal and solar. The hydrogen used in fuel cells is largely derived from natural gas resources, coal is less versatile and solar energy is expensive to produce. Considering the cost of oil at the consumer level it seems common sense that if there was a cheaper, comparably efficient substitute we would be jumping at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Government Of Indi The Four Distributional Aspects Of... According to the expert group on Financial Inclusion (GOI, 2008) only 27% of farmers have access to institutional credit. It is true that there have been some improvements in flow of farm credit in recent years. However, the Government has to be sensitive to the four distributional aspects of agricultural credit. These are: (a) not much improvement in the share of small and marginal farmers . (b) decline in credit deposit (CD) ratios of rural and semi urban branches. (c) increase in the share of indirect credit in total agricultural credit and. (d) significant regional inequalities in credit. (Policies for Raising Agricultural Growth and Productivity in India). ( S. Mahendra Dev, Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai) The Government of India has already put in place an agriculture credit policy to improve access of farmers to institutional credit. Steps would be taken for extensive coverage of farmers under the Kisan Credit Card Scheme. Micro credit and micro insurance will be promoted as an effective tool for encouraging production and reducing risk. Credit cooperatives have an important position and role in the rural financial system and priority would be given to reforms and revamping of cooperative credit institutions as per the recommendations of the Vaidyanathan Committee. Credit counselling centres would be established where severely indebted farmers can be provided a debt rescue package/ rescheduling to save them from a debt trap. National Bank ... • 41. The Development Of The Established Holy Bible Marcion of Sinope The development of the established Holy Bible was a long, drawn out process that started with the foundation of the original Jewish scriptures, formerly known as the Torah. Building off of Jewish ideals, theologians and philosophers started compiling scriptures with the ultimate result of the New Testament canon. Typically, many factors were taken into account when distinguishing the credibility or incredibility of a given scripture. For example, apostolic succession, where and when it was written as well as the cohesiveness with the other scriptures (referring to the Old Testament, as well as the documents within what was to become the New Testament). There were various depictions of the New Testament as the universally accepted canon was still developing, some of which contained writings that were certainly questionable. However, there was an initial establishment of the scriptural canon that jump started the process of paving the road towards the Holy Bible as we know it today. It was the absurdity of Marcion s teachings and that prompted the church to establish an orthodox position on doctrine. Marcion was native to Sinope in Pontus, a small port town off of the inner coastline of Asia Minor. In Sinope, Marcion earned a fortune as a ship owner, which opened up many doors for him down the road. In his travels, Marcion arrived in Rome and attempted to spread his personal developments on Christian doctrine. In doing so, he donated a large sum of money ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Regional Differences Between The New England And The... Although New England, primarily Massachusetts, and the Chesapeake, primarily Virginia, were both settled largely by people of English origin, by 1700 the regions had evolved into two distinct societies. This difference in development occurred for the following three reasons: the geography, purpose of both colonies, and the priorities. The geography of each region was vastly different. In the New England colonies, the rocky landscape resulted in a short growing season. This contributed to a rise in use of abundant natural resources, such as lumber, which made a successful ship building industry. On the other hand, in the Chesapeake region, rich farmland and forests provided colonists with perfect harvest conditions. In 1673, Governor Berkeley confirmed Virginia was intersected with many vast rivers as seen in Doc. G, demonstrating their rich soil. The geography of the Chesapeake area was more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The New England colonies were mainly founded for spiritual purposes. Massachusetts was established by Reformist Puritans in search for religious freedom. Their motives were religious, not economic. The Articles of Agreement for Springfield, MA, 1636 in Doc. D, stated how the colony intended to appoint a minister. This objective was first on a list of agreements made by the colonists, being the most important. Although religion was the main reason for this region s founding, the Chesapeake Bay area had different motives. Their settlers hoped to find gold or at least make a profit in some way. The area was very industry based, as shown in their use of indentured servants, slaves, and harvest of the cash crop, tobacco. Doc. F, written in 1624 by John Smith, recalls the first settlers and their goals, by stating, There was no talk...but dig gold, wash gold, refine gold, load gold... . The main priority was money. • 44. Analysis Of Aaron Burr And Alexander Hamilton The Oval Office symbolizes the government whenever public judgement casts the governmental system in negative or positive light. Arguably, every presidential administration becomes marked by the supposed corruption that lies within it, for the office is considered the Room Where It Happens (Miranda and McCarter 186). In homage to the times of exclusion and inclusion of Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton in this room during the founding father s era of government, Hamilton: The Revolution, by Lin Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter, states that [one] feel[s] like [one has] been Burr [..] as many times as [one has] been Hamilton (264). Nevertheless, as Miranda identifies to a greater degree with Hamilton because of his rags to riches record, my ideologies gravitate towards Burr from experiences in a culture where failure is condemned. Moreover, the eventual vilification of Burr for his role in Hamilton s demise versus Hamilton s martyrdom for his reckless abandon leads me to identify more with Burr as a victim of fallacious antagonization than Hamilton as an erroneous martyr based on a single precept: one s reputation stems from a series of public judgements void of consideration on individual detriment. Dominance acts as a form of dopamine to man s brain: it gives man satisfaction from superiority and control over supposedly inferior beings. While Hamilton, the immigrant with a lack of wealth and family, climbs up the echelons of the societal ladder, Burr is forced to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evidence supports this because King Tut s Femur was broken and the skin was cut which suggests a sudden act of violence, caused by Aye slicing the young king s leg making him lose control and be crushed by his horse. Another piece of proof is that the king had a hemorrhage in his skull that may have been an effect of the horse falling over.
