Analysis Of This Boy s Life By Tobias Wolff
This Boy s Life by Tobias Wolff is a raw examination of what happens to a young boy who is left to
steer life by himself. The grownups in Toby s life are too engaged with their own lives to pay attention
to him. His mother is self centered and irresponsible and never really says that she wants Toby around.
His rich father lives with his other son on the east coast and doesn t want any relationship with Toby.
This results in toby not wanting to make healthy connections with many people that can have a
positive effect on his life. Toby is left to do everything for himself, which has a bad impact on his
personal growth. His mother moves from city to city, whenever she thinks that things aren t going her
way. Since Toby has no role model and often

Ear Pain Case Study
CC
Mrs. Katz is a 51 year old female here today complaining of right ear pain.
HPI
The patient tells me she noticed about a week ago that her ear was feeling very full of wax. She said it
was difficult to hear and she just felt that it was blocked. Her daughter, who is an audiologist was
visiting from out of town did not have an otoscope, but looked generally at the outside of her mother s
ear, thought that there was probably some wax there, recommended that she see a physician. The
patient then asked her daughter about possibly using an over the counter flushing system, which she
eventually ended up doing. She said that she did not really notice a response after using the flush. She
said that she has not noticed any drainage. There has not been any discharge, no bleeding, but now is
having ear pain for the last day. Previously, was not having any pain. She also feels as though it is still
full. It was uncomfortable if she would touch her ear or move her ear, however that symptom has
resolved. She is no longer having that at this time. She does not really feel as though she is having any
new cold or cough symptoms. She has not had any fevers. She does struggle with allergies somewhat,
but says that they have been under relatively good control currently. ... Show more content on

The Theories of Sigmund Freud Essay
Sigmund Freud, known as the father of psychology, has developed some of the first theories of
modern psychology. One of his well known theories is the structural model of the psyche. According
to Freud, most of what drives humans is buried in the unconscious mind. There are three main forces
that drive humans: the id, the ego, and the super ego. The id is the sum of basic personal needs and
desires. It is completely selfish and has no care for sensibility or reality. It strives for what it wants,
when it wants it with no other considerations and is primarily concerned with sex. The second part of
the personality is the ego. The ego is the realization of reality. It is the ego s job to, in a sense,
counteract the selfishness and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Emma spends her whole life searching for happiness and contentment. From the time she was a school
girl, reading romance and adventure novels, Emma began fantasizing about how she wants her life to
be. She dreams of prince charming in the form a refined gentleman coming to sweep her off her feet.
When she meets Charles, she thinks she has fallen in love and marries him. Soon after the wedding
though, she realizes that this is not what she has been expecting from love. Charles is ordinary and
dull and Emma is very unhappy in the relationship. When she meets Leon, and realizes that she is
attracted to him and she impulsively allows herself to fall for him. Then, when she meets Rodolphe,
she once again allows herself to be swept away and in her id follows her desire for a romantic sexual
relationship. The act is completely selfish and she acts with no regard to her husband or her daughter
Berthe. Emma is devastated when Rodolphe leaves her but later becomes involved in another
passionate affair with Leon. All of these things are examples of her id being in control because she
acts out of lust and sexual desire. Sexual pleasure is not Emma s only way of attempting to make
herself content with life. Material things become very important to Emma. Her financials troubles
begin the day that Monsieur Lheureux, a dry goods merchant comes to visit. The

The Palace Thief Character Analysis
The Palace Thief is a story of many emotional, mental, and social changes. Between student and
teacher (Mr.Hundert Sedwick), teacher and parent (Mr. Hundert Senator Bell), and two teachers (Mr.
Hundert Mr. Ellerbe). We will dive into the changes and what caused these changes in this essay. First
we ll examine the first Mr. Hundert and Sedgewick Bell. This teacher and student had many ups and
downs in their experiences. Let s see what they were. I could see that he was not only a dullard but a
roustabout. This statement alone shows you the initial standing in the classroom. Sedgwick was an
underachieving, troublemaker. The narrator, Mr. Hundert, knew he would have a problem with him
from the jump. Sedgwick caused a problem as soon as he entered the classroom, causing laughter.
From that first day, Sedgewick Bell was a boor and a bully, a damper to the illumination of the eager
minds of my boys and a purveyor of the mean spirited humor that is like kerosene in a school such as
ours. Yes, he immediately caused problems. Mr. Hundert disliked him very much, but something made
him change his mind. After weeks of being tormented by Sedgwick s behavior, Mr. Hundert thought it
was time to do a parent visit. This meant that Mr. Hundert would have to travel to D.C to meet with
Senator Bell. Yes, Sedgwick is a Senator s son. This man was regarded very high by Mr.Hundert, until
after their talk. He thought for a moment, idly fingering a match. Then his look turned

Reoccurring Theme Of Death In Emily Dickinson s Poems
Emily Dickinson poems seem to have the same reoccurring theme, which takes on a negative
perspective on life; this is the theme of death. The theme of death is frequently used to express her
feelings throughout her life. Everyone has experienced the emotions that come with death, whether it
is a close family member, distant friends or even through storylines of movies. She uses the subject of
death to connect with the audience on an emotional level while also expressing her own feelings
through her poems. The theme of death is expressed in the majority of her poems. They share almost
the exact same idea of death such as, the act of grieving. Her poems might be similar but they all have
a different understanding and perspective of death whether it is positive or negative. The poem, I
heard a Fly Buzz when I died describes the scene and atmosphere of the moment when death comes.
Dickinson creates an image of someone lying on a bed with only being able to hear the sound of a fly.
She uses the fly buzz as a symbol of death and all the things associated with dying. This poem paints a
perfect picture of her idea of what happens before death, during death and after death. Dickinson uses
imagery by using descriptive language such as, the stillness in the room and air to portray what is it
like before death. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

death in the sense of a mystery of who died. She stumbles upon a tombstone with no name. Using

whom it belongs to. Lines like the grave is strict and tickets admit implies that only one person is

The Native Hawaiian Culture
The culture and traditions of the Native Hawaiian people are being neglected and destroyed. Hawai i
has become home to hundreds of different ethnic groups coexisting in one place that holds it s very
own unique and distinct culture. The unfortunate side effect of this multiculturalism is the loss of the
true Hawaiian culture. Western interference desecrates our sacred sites and artifacts, for things like
telescopes and shopping malls. Foreigners capitalize on Hawaiian practices such as hula, making a
mockery of the tradition. The state and counties of Hawaii grant large amounts of monies to non
Hawaiian concepts. Even though there are many individuals and organizations across the state of
Hawai i that try to maintain the Hawaiian practices, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the state of Hawai i were to fund Hawaiian practitioners to properly educate people and children
about the Native Hawaiian culture and their traditions, the state could profit from the business that has
already spread across the world. Hula, a traditional Hawaiian dance, is a major business in Japan and
they have managed to make Hawai i, in general, a billion dollar industry in their own country.
Interested individuals from around the world come to Hawaii to learn from kumu hula (hula teachers)
and take what they learn back to their homelands to start hula hälau (school of hula) of their own,
charging students hundreds of dollars and reaping the profits. Japanese entrepreneurs have profited
from hula, such as: workshops, festivals and competitions; the spin off sales of hula skirts,
implements, ornaments, and other accessories; or the profits reaped from organised cultural tourism
tours to visit Hawai i (Intersecting Cultures in Music and Dance Education, p 152). Some Hawaiian
musicians and kumu hula, and even showcased hula performers, have become super stars in countries
all over the world. These musicians and kumu, have even moved to Japan because of its thriving
market for Hawaiian music and dance. Like most things Hawaiian, hula has a function and those that
teach the art should have a purpose to teach. Hula can take on many functions like

Case #1 Webb vs. City of Philadelphia
This case involves Kimberlie Webb and the City of Philadelphia (mainly the police department). The
case was heard by the United States court of appeals, third circuit in 2009.
The suit was filed because Webb believed her religious rights were being decimated against. Webb is a
Muslim woman who servers on the Philadelphia Police Department. Webb asked permission to wear a
headdress that would not cover her face or ears due to her religious beliefs. She was disciplined for
failing to comply with Police Department Directive 78 (which basically states that all officers must

any dress shoe. This is very discriminatory by making woman wear make up and 3 inch heals. I

Benefit Of Chocolate Essay
The Health Benefits of Chocolate Everyone seems to love chocolate, and it is one of the most
purchased treats on Valentine s Day for friends, family, husbands and wives. When people are
stressed, or feel like they need a comfort food, chocolate is one of the first things that comes to mind,
and is reached to soothe a troubled emotional heart. In the past, chocolate has been considered to be a
sweet junk food that is high in sugar and calories with no nutritional value. But due to recent
nutritional and scientific research people should be eating a bit of dark chocolate for the antioxidants
and heart healthy benefits. Chocolate has recently been researched in the science world for its high
levels of antioxidants, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chocolate has two groups of antioxidants called flavonoids and polyphenols. Antioxidants fight
against free radicals in the body. Free radicals are unbalanced compounds created by the natural
cellular processes in the body and from environmental toxins. Antioxidants are compounds including
vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals that neutralize free radicals and protect the body from their
damage. The substances in antioxidants counteract with the damaging normal effects of the body s
process of oxidization. Research shows that antioxidants help in preventing the development of
chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer s, rheumatoid arthritis, and cataracts.
In a 2000 edition of Science News Journal, Janet Raloff supports the benefits of chocolate with the
findings of antioxidants within chocolate, Chocolate and cocoa powders are derived from beans that
contain healthy quantities of antioxidants called flavonoids which have cardiovascular benefits (188).
She continued to state that these flavonoids are more powerful in chocolate than in vitamins, some
teas, or wines. Dark chocolate can also help decrease the amount of blood clots in the heart due to the
amount of antioxidants, which delay or prevent cell damage. In the December 1999 Journal of
Agricultural and Food Chemistry, Vinson supported this in an earlier research supporting that The

A Study of Iron Essay
Iron is an important element to the scientific community, especially those involved in the branch of
chemistry. Consequently, humans rely on iron for many different things. Iron is diverse from all other
elements with regards to its natural occurrence, historic and contemporary uses, the origin of its name,
and when, how, where, and by whom it was discovered. It also has unique characteristic physical and
chemical properties. Without the discovery, and distinctive properties of iron, life on Earth would

Iron began being widely used across Central Europe during the 8th century, and across Northern
Europe during the 6th century, and the Near Eastern Iron Age took place in two phases during the 12th
and 13th century. Asia began using iron at the same time as Europe, and China used iron long before
the Common Era. In North and South America, the development of iron began right after the rock age,
skipping the Bronze Age. During the early Iron Age, iron was used to make tools when combined with
0.3% to 1.2% by weight of carbon to form the alloy steel. Iron was used to make houses, tools such as
swords, daggers, chisels, and knives, and jewellery, among others. Iron can be used for a wide range
of resources in the contemporary world. It is the most abundant, least expensive, and most used of all
metals. It is vital to human and animal life, and humans use it in a variety of devices to make life
convenient. It is combined with other elements to make steel or other compounds for many
commercial uses, the most common of which include making fuels, lubricants, automobiles, machine
tools, hulls of large ships, building parts, machine parts, cooking pots and pans, cutlery, surgical
equipment, and aircraft. Iron (III) is used in the treatment of sewage, as a dye for cloth, as a coloring

It has asked, or perhaps forced, customers to think not with their head, but with their hormones:
morally unacceptable.
Abercrombie and Fitch uses classical conditioning in a variety of different ways. The campaigns,
which always contain photographs like the ones provided, have successfully conditioned consumers to
elicit a response from their sexual desires from an extremely basic line of clothing. Abercrombie s
clothing is basic and almost never scandalous. Their clothing lines provide good and decent cover for
customers. So what is the problem? The issue lies in the fact that this very basic, however very unique
form of clothing has been used as a tool to elicit sexual feelings on the part of those who see the
clothing, the name or the style.
First, they have elicited the responses based on feeling of beauty. The provided marketing catalogue
rarely shows models actually wearing large amounts of clothing. The consumer is not able to evaluate
any of the products characteristics when faced with an ad. Showing bodies that nearly all consumers
will find attractive is a clear attempt to tie physical beauty with the product. Beauty, however, is a
tactic that many firms use and may be less harmful than the following strategies.

Persuasive Essay On Fracking
For the past six weeks, I have been doing research about fracking and it s effects on the community
and nature. I have spent hours researching and doing experiments to come to a conclusion. I would
like to share my findings with you to make sure this county is informed about the process, as I know
they might not necessarily be. I believe that Fracking should not continue in Ohio. Although it brings
jobs to the country, and bring us domestic fuel, it is becoming a health hazard to bio life, which is very
important.
Fracking (formal name hydraulic fracturing), is the process of which million of gallons of water are
pumped a mile underground to get methane out of pockets in the shale. Fracking fluid is a mixture of
chemicals and water pumped underground through supposedly safe wells. The oil companies actually
doing the fracking say that the wells are completely safe. However, only 50% of the fracking fluid is
brought out of the wells. The rest of it is left underground and never retrieved. This can contaminate
the ground we farm on an the water we drink.. Fracking affects everyone around the wells, though it
may be indirectly. It can affect someone by giving them millions of dollars for land or contaminating
their drinking water. Some environmentalists believe that this can contaminate water in the aquifer, a
mile above the shale.
The composition of fracking fluid has not been released to the public. No one knows what is in the
fluid, but people have predicted. It is thought

certain they are careful to not damage the body, leave any evidence in the water, or further
contaminate the body. They pull out a 5 8 , 150lb young female with short blond hair and brown eyes,
I have recorded this information using the Crime Scene and Human Figure Templates (Swanson et al

The Importance Of Federalism In The United States Government
When the founding fathers came together, they realized that they had important things to discuss.
Truthfully because The Articles of Confederation had not been efficient enough for the national
government. The Articles of Confederation left the national government without a judiciary and
independent executive, leaving Congress with most of the power; but it was largely a creature of the
states. This sparked conflicted amongst state which eventually lead to the government s debt. Once
The Founding Fathers realized the poor ethics that the Articles of Confederation had, the first topic
they felt the need to discuss had been federalism. As read in We the People textbook, federalism
means the Constitution s division of governing authority between two levels, nation and states was the
result of political bargaining. As I reflect back on previous lessons/discussions, I find it that
Federalism is an ideology that s written in the constitution to divide power between federal and state
government; even though the term is not bluntly stated. Honorably, the simulation mirrored what took
place in 1787, by having four interest groups and Senators from eight delegations representing their
states interest. The Senators main objective had been to reform the Proposed Legislation for Federal
Anti Smoking Standards bill that could potentially benefit both their locals and local government. For
the duration of the simulation, both the interest groups and Senators demonstrated the

Food Multitasking Persuasive Speech
Food is something essential to the life of a human. Humans have come so far from when they would
have to hunt and kill their food. We now have all these flavors we can make with food, seasonings,
and just simply fire. Yet we waste the way the food really tastes. How? You ask, by allowing our food
to rest within each other in an explosion of stupidity! We disrespect the art of eating by allowing the
food to touch and mix together. Allowing the food to touch is very disrespectful, and it shows
unserious we take the art of eating, which means you don t totally immerse yourself in the item you
allowing it to your mouth for consumption. Eating is something that takes dedication and cleanliness,

Literary Analysis Of Ross Capicchioni By Joyner Lucas
The song Ross Capicchioni by Joyner Lucas can be a prime example of a literary piece because of its
plot, multi perspectives, and tone throughout the song. Manipulating words so that it could fit into
different rhyming schemes to set a specific tone has added a dramatic and poetic effect on literary
writings. A good plot is one of, if not the most critical part of a literary piece because it keeps a reader,
viewer or listener interested in the piece. Lastly, the multi perspectives of the piece makes it literary
because of the ability to imagine and bring to life both points of views are rare in writings, songs and
poems.
Ross Capicchioni is based on a true story, which is about a 10th grade transfer student (Ross
Capicchioni) that is greeted and welcomed by another student at his high school. While Ross was
enjoying his time at school and building his friendship with one of his peers, the so called friend was
plotting to kill Ross but could not find a good time to do it. The song finally gets to a point where
Ross is offered a car by his uncle and is asked by his friend to be dropped off on a side of town that is
known to be gang affiliated. Regardless of the countless signs Ross notice s, he refuses to follow his
gut but he continues to help his friend . When they arrived at the destination Ross is stripped out of the
car and is shot with a shot gun 3 times (chest, head, and arm). Once he realizes that he has been shot
and tries to fight through the pain, the writer switches perspective from the victim to the perpetrator.
When the Joyner starts to rap, he first sets the tone of the song. Woke up at 7, my day seemed more
than I prayed for, Got dressed to head out and ride to school on my skateboard while the line seems to
be very basic to others, Joyner tells the listener this to give a sense of innocents to the character
throughout the story. Right after Joyner shows innocents of the high school kid, he follows the two
lines with New kid in class I sat alone takin notes while the hoodlums were makin jokes at the clothes
that my momma paid for . By now Joyner has also told us what type of neighborhood and kids that the
innocent kid is dealing with in his school. Using the term hoodlums tells

Explain your desire and commitment to complete the entire program term.
I graduated from Iowa State University here just a little more than a week ago and was talking to one
of the students in class, after graduation, and we were discussing that some of us feel we don t have
enough conservation work under our belt. He said that I could join the conservation corps. He had
joined the corps in Montana and said it was one of the best things he did. I am lucky enough to have
caught the deadline and I need more hands on experience. I am 25 and this would be the last year I
could be a crew member. I would like this opportunity, because I could see ... Show more content on

Conservation, the DOT, and landscape architect students. Our job was to create a management plan for
Story County Conservation for a new county park they were building. Story County Conservation
obtained 30 acres of land in west Ames, Iowa, adjacent to the Iowa State Research Park and we
created a document that described the general information regarding the property, current and historic
uses, and and the results of the initial on site assessment done on the property. The final section of the
document laid out the management recommendations regarding prairie establishment, tree removal,
habitat, streambank stabilization, and stream bioengineering. I was in charge of designing a buffer
along the stream for bank stabilization and the stream bioengineering project. I worked with the DOT
and their hydrologist and talked with them about combining natural resource and engineering thinking
together.

William Buffalo Bill Cody Essay
William Buffalo Bill Cody
Buffalo Bill was one of the most interesting figures of the old west, and the best known spokesman of
the new west. Buffalo Bill was born in 1846 and his real name was William Frederick Cody. Cody was
many things. He was a trapper, bullwhacker, Colorado Fifty Niner ;, Pony Express rider, Civil War
soldier, wagonmaster, stagecoach driver, and even a manager of a hotel. He changed his name to
Buffalo Bill sometime in his early twenties for his skill while supplying railroad workers with buffalo
meat. He would soon begin his career as one of the most famous prairie scouts of the Indian Wars.

Only Egypt s fame opposed the Wild West as the talk of Chicago at the World s Columbian Exposition
in 1893. His show exhibited many famous people, such as Annie Oakley and Sitting Bull. By the 1900
s, Buffalo Bill could have possibly been the most famous and recognizable man in the entire world.
The Wild West s great success began on nostalgia for the passing frontier that swept the nation in the
late 1800 s. However, Buffalo Bill never looked backward. Towards the end of his life, a famous quote
of his was All my interests are still with the west the modern west ;.
Cody used his glory and fame as a platform for his western causes. His western causes were fighting
for the rights of Indians and women, and also for conservation. Even as early as 1879, Buffalo Bill
warned the federal government to not make promises to them that could be broken. He knew that
Indian conflicts would be caused by broken government promises. He also knew what the Indian was
fighting for, because their entire history was in America, and they felt it was their country.
Buffalo Bill was a fair man, as well. He was quoted in 1894 as saying to a woman reporter who asked
whether he thought the majority of women were qualified to vote that they were as well qualified as
the majority of men. If a woman can do the same work that a man can do and do it just as well, she
should have the same pay ;.

The Impact Of Stuxnet Worm On The World s Nuclear Facilities
Another occurrence of cyberwarfare and its power lies within the Stuxnet worm, unleashed primarily
to attack Iranian industrial programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in the nation s Nuclear facilities.
The Stuxnet worm is typically introduced to its target environment via an infected USB flash drive,
and upon being loaded onto a computer running the Microsoft Windows operating system the worm
would then seek out Siemens Step7 software. This software will then allow for Stuxnet to control
Iranian PLCs, collecting information on industrial systems and causing the fast spinning centrifuges to
tear themselves apart. Stuxnet s complexity is evident in its three prong approach to infection: It
unloads a worm that executes all routines related to the main attack, it executes a link file that
automatically activates other copies of the worm on the same network, and it activates its rootkit,
which allows it to hide its processes and activity on the local computer as well as the entire computer
network. Kaspersky Lab, an international software security group operating in almost 200 countries
and territories worldwide, concluded that the attack is a one of a kind, sophisticated malware attack
backed by a well funded, highly skilled attack team and that the attack could only be conducted with
nation state support and backing . In May 2011, the PBS program Need To Know cited a statement by
Gary Samore, White House Coordinator for Arms Control and Weapons of Mass Destruction, in

Audit Coverage
4.6. IAS s overall audit objective is to provide UWCN s Principal and Board of Governors with an

• UWCN s risk management arrangements will have to be reviewed every year to confirm the

• Some high risk areas require more frequent review;
• The need for audit coverage to encompass the whole range of risks which UWCN has identified as
key to the achievement of its objectives;
• The need for an adequate range of non key risks to be included to ensure our opinion is based on
comprehensive coverage across UWCN;
• Historical knowledge of strengths and deficiencies in UWCN s risk management, control

Questions On The Robotic Fundamentals Module
This document explains my approach to solve the coursework questions for the Robotic Fundamentals
module. The coursework is divided into three different parts. The first part of the coursework asks to
derive the forward and inverse kinematics of a serial manipulator (Lynxmotion arm AL5B) and plot its
workspace and trajectories. The second part asks to develop a kinematic simulation of the parallel
robot. The third part is an open ended relevant topic. Matlab software is used here to create model for
simulation. 2. Serial Robot Kinematics (Part 1) The 5 degree of freedom Lynxmotion arm AL5B
consists of a base, a shoulder, a elbow, a wrist, a wrist rotation and a gripper. To analysis its
kinematics, we need to first know the relationship between each link of the robot arms. Figure 2.0

Schizophrenia In In Cold Blood
In the book In Cold Blood, Dr Jones, a psychiatrist, diagnosed Perry Smith with schizophrenia causing
him to believe Smith had no control at scene of the murder of Clutter family. I knelt down beside Mr.
Clutter, and the pain of kneeling I thought of that goddam dollar. Silver dollar. The shame. Disgust.
And they d told me never to come back to Kansas. But I didn t realize what I d done till I heard the
sound (Capote 244). Despite Smith s acknowledgment of Dick s plan, Smith has trouble fathoming of

Today mental illness continues to be misunderstood and is only often mentioned when justifying
crimes of white men. For instance, James Fields, a nazi sympathizer, slammed his car towards a crowd
of counter protesters during a white supremacist rally and is portrayed by big media sources such as
Fox News as mentally ill instead of a terrorist. The car Fields Jr. allegedly drove did not try to avoid
the protesters, nor did he appear to be confused or panicked by the counter protesters (Hutchinson
Huffpost). Unlike Smith, who did not any remote hate towards the Clutter family, Fields was not
confused when heading towards the protestors and is known to have a history of not being afraid of
showing how he feels In other words, Fields heading towards the counter protestors was not a product
of his mental illness but instead a product of his racist

World Wide Web Essay
What is internet?
The internet is a worldwide system of computer networks which is sometimes called as The Net . It
consists of several interconnected networks which provides various information and communication
facilities using standardized communication protocols. Internet is also called as a network of
networks, which means that it connects millions of computers together worldwide. As long as
computers are connected to internet they can easily communicate with each other.
What is WEB?
The World Wide Web can be defined as a collection of different services and documents which are
distributed all over the Internet and linked together by hypertext links. The web is therefore a subset of
the Internet and not the same thing. It provides a hypertext hypermedia interface to information
resources in the internet and hence it is also called as a distributed hypermedia system.
So basically, the world wide web or simply the web is just one of the ways of accessing the
information on the internet. It uses HTTP to transmit data over the internet. The web uses various
types of browsers like Internet Explorer or Google Chrome to access the web documents commonly
called as the web pages.
Hence, it can be said that the internet is a hardware infrastructure and the web is the information on
the internet. It is just an application of internet based on the internet infrastructure. Although most
people get confused and consider the world wide web and the internet as synonyms but the

of the island a big beast known as kong, and many other dangerous creatures. Not only did they end

get Ann back not knowing all the dangerous encounters they had to face. The movie director again has
his own plans with kong, so as they try to rescue Ann he also ends up luring and capturing Kong. The
director then brought Kong back to New York where he plans to make a show out of Kong, by
reenacting the scenes of kong and Ann s encounters. Of course things turns out bad when Kong gets
crazy and escapes trying to look for Ann. The two meet again where they run off in the city and Kong

Western Versus Indigenous use of Psilocybin
Another clinical study of psilocybin done at the University of Arizona and led by Francisco Morena,
was conducted in 2007 to evaluate the effects of psilocybin on the symptoms of obsessive compulsive
disorder in nine subjects. The researchers addressed two questions: does oral ingestion of psilocybin
lead to an acute decrease in OCD symptoms and is what dose is required to demonstrate significant
reduction in symptoms. The results revealed that when administered in a supportive clinical
environment, psilocybin was safe and well tolerated. The psilocybin was associated with transient
symptomatic reduction of OCD symptoms in subjects with treatment resistance OCD ( ). Although
there is an understanding of the psychedelic mechanism of action of psilocybin, it s not clear exactly
which receptors and pathways are involved in mediating the anti obsessional responses. The intent of
the study was not to conduct psychedelic facilitated therapy, however five of the subjects readily
described their experiences as very psychologically and spiritually enriching and four of the subjects
reported profound positive transcendental experiences such as exploration of other planets, visiting
past life reincarnations and interacting with deities. The results also showed most subjects reporting
symptom reduction experiences a period of relief that extending far beyond the session. In summary,
although there are some gaps in the understanding of how the psilocybin interacts to reduce OCD

Statue of Liberty is the most socially and culturally valuable type of cultural space. It provides
educational value to those who visit, there is a variety of activates, and it is influential not just to the

The statue is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. Brought to the United
States as segments, the Statue of Liberty stands in the New York Harbor on Ellis Island. The idea for
the statue was inspired by the works of Abraham Lincoln. The Statue has changed over time,
physically and ideologically. Between 1886 and 1924, Lady Liberty became a symbol of hope and
opportunity for a new life. The Statue of Liberty became a major port of entrance for millions of
European immigrants. Many who entered the New York Harbor were escaping tyranny, oppression,
and poverty. To these anxious newcomers, the Statue s uplifted torch did not suggest enlightenment, as
her creators intended, but rather, welcome. A poem called The New Colossus, written by Emma
Lazarus was mounted on the statue s pedestal in the early 1900s. It states, Give me your tired, your
poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore;

Learning English As A Foreign Language
Introduction This essay will try to explain through the use of research why and how people learn
English as a foreign language. Brian Munoz is an example of a student learning English as a foreign
language. He was born in Mexico and his first language is Spanish. As well as studying English he has
also studied French. Brian has an interest in learning languages and wishes to one day be able to travel
to the countries where those languages are spoken. Brian would first like to visit the united states in
order to completely immerse himself in English. There are five members of his family, himself, his
parents and his siblings.
Motivation
Brian is both intrinsically and extrinsically motivated to learn English. In an interview he stressed that
he thinks English will be necessary in university in order for him to obtain a degree. Brian also stated
that he wishes to use his English skills in the future in order to obtain a better job. An intrinsic reason
is that Brian has two cousins who speak English that he would like to be able to talk to (Harmer; 2007,
pp. 98 104).
Learning Style Brian has a highly logical mathematical intelligence. This suggests he is a highly
analytical and scientific thinker (Oxford; 2001, pp. 359 366). Brian s style of learning can be
particularly well suited to learning grammar and other pattern based aspects of language. He finds
when the teacher gives the students a set formula to grammar learning very easy.
Teaching Method The Comprehension Based Approach will be best suited for Brian. Brian has stated
that he struggles the most with listening comprehension, and this approach emphasizes listening and
comprehension (Sauvignon; 2001, pp. 13 28).
Student Needs Brian would like to improve his English fluency, especially when listening to spoken
English. He is confident in his abilities in other areas such as grammar. A one on one lesson will be
designed to help Brian achieve his goals, and strengthen his weaknesses.
Language Skills Brian s weak points are in the listening and reading language skills. Brian finds
listening activities in his IMAC class to be difficult for him to understand. He has trouble paying
attention to the

Csikszentmihalyi s Happiness Revisited
Authored by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Happiness Revisited is a study on happiness and creativity.
Csikszentmihalyi defines happiness in terms of how we achieve it. He suggests that people achieve
happiness not by trying to look for it directly (609) but by looking for it directly. He also added that by
achieving control over the contents of our consciousness (609), a circuitous path begins, thus the
beginning of achieving happiness. Further, Csikszentmihalyi stated that just like happiness, success is
not to be pursued but ensued. This statement is ideally illustrated by Viktor Frankl s book on Man s
Search for meaning: Don t aim at success the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are
going to miss it (609). As quoted by Csikszentmihalyi that people often end up feeling that their lives
have been wasted, and instead of being filled with happiness their years were spent in anxiety and
boredom (608). He added that despite the comfort of today s modern living; the contentment does not

As an adult student without any academic intellectual stimulation for the past two decades, I consider
the best moments of happiness by advancing to the next level of courses towards the end of the
semester, not to mention the bonus of making to the HCC s dean s list. However, the circuitous path
towards that academic path described includes many sleep nights, no weekends off and holidays spent
on studying. An illustration of optimal experience wherein intellectual capacity is stretched to its limit
that makes an accomplishment feels even more special. Thus, what Csikszentmihalyi described in his
theory on optimal experience wherein the laboring experiences may not be as pleasant at the time of
occurrence, yet in stretching ones limit to accomplish a difficult and worthwhile task, it s those same
difficulties that makes the experience more

Essay about The Role of Loneliness in James Joyce s Ulysses
The Role of Loneliness in James Joyce s Ulysses
Have you ever had one of those days when the world seems cold and unfeeling? Where the people that
surround you are far away and uncaring? Ulysses is about one of those days, and two people who are
stuck within it, searching desperately for a way out. Loneliness runs like a thread through Ulysses, a
novel by James Joyce. It constantly tugs at the character s minds, and drives their lives in subtle ways.
Joyce drives the point home by giving a drab, grey description of the character s lives.
Ulysses is set in 1904, Dublin, Ireland. Joyce s book was first published in 1922. The plot of Ulysses
is fairly simple. The novel re creates the days of two Irishmen, Leopold Bloom, the main ... Show

wife, who does not respect him, and is even having an affair with her employer. When Bloom receives
a letter from his precious daughter, his mood only worsens, and his mind drifts into the thought of

might become like his wife. When Bloom goes to the funeral of Paddy Dignam, an old friend, his
thoughts lead to a remembrance of his father s suicide. Bloom also feels singled out, not only in his
family life, but in general, as a Jew. Although people like and respect Leopold Bloom, there are people
he encounters throughout the book who hate him, only because of his religion.
Stephen is another lonely soul wandering the streets of Dublin. His unhappiness is mostly rooted in

Protecting children from a real risk of harm from abuse or neglect, usually from their parent or carer,
must always be a priority. It is widely accepted legally and ethically that confidentiality can be broken
on pressing child protection grounds. This has long been an integral part of the daily operations of
social workers, doctors, teachers, the police, and those providing advice on information handling
issues within these services. By sharing genuine concerns about a child or family, professionals of
education can construct a more accurate and comprehensive picture about a child s safety and well
being. Sharing information may be especially important, given the extreme lengths abusers may go to
conceal their wrong doing. It is important to re state that data protection law never stands in the way
of using or sharing personal information about the child and sometimes about others where a real need
exists. Harming children though abuse or neglect is criminal activity. Data protection law recognises
the importance of preventing and detecting crime and pursuing offenders. This must be especially
important where children are the victims.
Data protection should never be used as an excuse for failure to protect a child from a real risk of
harm. Data protection issues may be less clear cut where the concerns

Her daughter, who is an audiologist was visiting from out of town did not have an otoscope, but looked generally at the outside of her mother s ear, thought that there was probably some wax there, recommended that she see a physician. • 4. The Theories of Sigmund Freud Essay Sigmund Freud, known as the father of psychology, has developed some of the first theories of modern psychology. One of his well known theories is the structural model of the psyche. According to Freud, most of what drives humans is buried in the unconscious mind. There are three main forces that drive humans: the id, the ego, and the super ego. The id is the sum of basic personal needs and desires. It is completely selfish and has no care for sensibility or reality. It strives for what it wants, when it wants it with no other considerations and is primarily concerned with sex. The second part of the personality is the ego. The ego is the realization of reality. It is the ego s job to, in a sense, counteract the selfishness and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Emma spends her whole life searching for happiness and contentment. From the time she was a school girl, reading romance and adventure novels, Emma began fantasizing about how she wants her life to be. She dreams of prince charming in the form a refined gentleman coming to sweep her off her feet. When she meets Charles, she thinks she has fallen in love and marries him. Soon after the wedding though, she realizes that this is not what she has been expecting from love. Charles is ordinary and dull and Emma is very unhappy in the relationship. When she meets Leon, and realizes that she is attracted to him and she impulsively allows herself to fall for him. Then, when she meets Rodolphe, she once again allows herself to be swept away and in her id follows her desire for a romantic sexual relationship. The act is completely selfish and she acts with no regard to her husband or her daughter Berthe. Emma is devastated when Rodolphe leaves her but later becomes involved in another passionate affair with Leon. All of these things are examples of her id being in control because she acts out of lust and sexual desire. Sexual pleasure is not Emma s only way of attempting to make herself content with life. • 5. The Palace Thief Character Analysis The Palace Thief is a story of many emotional, mental, and social changes. Between student and teacher (Mr.Hundert Sedwick), teacher and parent (Mr. Hundert Senator Bell), and two teachers (Mr. Hundert Mr. Ellerbe). We will dive into the changes and what caused these changes in this essay. First we ll examine the first Mr. Hundert and Sedgewick Bell. This teacher and student had many ups and downs in their experiences. Let s see what they were. I could see that he was not only a dullard but a roustabout. This statement alone shows you the initial standing in the classroom. Sedgwick was an underachieving, troublemaker. The narrator, Mr. Hundert, knew he would have a problem with him from the jump. Sedgwick caused a problem as soon as he entered the classroom, causing laughter. From that first day, Sedgewick Bell was a boor and a bully, a damper to the illumination of the eager minds of my boys and a purveyor of the mean spirited humor that is like kerosene in a school such as ours. Yes, he immediately caused problems. Mr. Hundert disliked him very much, but something made him change his mind. After weeks of being tormented by Sedgwick s behavior, Mr. Hundert thought it was time to do a parent visit. This meant that Mr. Hundert would have to travel to D.C to meet with Senator Bell. Yes, Sedgwick is a Senator s son. This man was regarded very high by Mr.Hundert, until after their talk. He thought for a moment, idly fingering a match. Then his look turned ... • 6. Reoccurring Theme Of Death In Emily Dickinson s Poems Emily Dickinson poems seem to have the same reoccurring theme, which takes on a negative perspective on life; this is the theme of death. The theme of death is frequently used to express her feelings throughout her life. Everyone has experienced the emotions that come with death, whether it is a close family member, distant friends or even through storylines of movies. She uses the subject of death to connect with the audience on an emotional level while also expressing her own feelings through her poems. The theme of death is expressed in the majority of her poems. They share almost the exact same idea of death such as, the act of grieving. Her poems might be similar but they all have a different understanding and perspective of death whether it is positive or negative. The poem, I heard a Fly Buzz when I died describes the scene and atmosphere of the moment when death comes. Dickinson creates an image of someone lying on a bed with only being able to hear the sound of a fly. She uses the fly buzz as a symbol of death and all the things associated with dying. This poem paints a perfect picture of her idea of what happens before death, during death and after death. Dickinson uses imagery by using descriptive language such as, the stillness in the room and air to portray what is it like before death. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hawai i has become home to hundreds of different ethnic groups coexisting in one place that holds it s very own unique and distinct culture. The unfortunate side effect of this multiculturalism is the loss of the true Hawaiian culture. Western interference desecrates our sacred sites and artifacts, for things like telescopes and shopping malls. If the state of Hawai i were to fund Hawaiian practitioners to properly educate people and children about the Native Hawaiian culture and their traditions, the state could profit from the business that has already spread across the world. Hula, a traditional Hawaiian dance, is a major business in Japan and they have managed to make Hawai i, in general, a billion dollar industry in their own country. Interested individuals from around the world come to Hawaii to learn from kumu hula (hula teachers) and take what they learn back to their homelands to start hula hälau (school of hula) of their own, charging students hundreds of dollars and reaping the profits. Japanese entrepreneurs have profited from hula, such as: workshops, festivals and competitions; the spin off sales of hula skirts, implements, ornaments, and other accessories; or the profits reaped from organised cultural tourism tours to visit Hawai i (Intersecting Cultures in Music and Dance Education, p 152). Some Hawaiian musicians and kumu hula, and even showcased hula performers, have become super stars in countries all over the world. The substances in antioxidants counteract with the damaging normal effects of the body s process of oxidization. Abercrombie s clothing is basic and almost never scandalous. Their clothing lines provide good and decent cover for customers. So what is the problem? The issue lies in the fact that this very basic, however very unique form of clothing has been used as a tool to elicit sexual feelings on the part of those who see the clothing, the name or the style. First, they have elicited the responses based on feeling of beauty. The provided marketing catalogue rarely shows models actually wearing large amounts of clothing. The consumer is not able to evaluate any of the products characteristics when faced with an ad. I have spent hours researching and doing experiments to come to a conclusion. I would like to share my findings with you to make sure this county is informed about the process, as I know they might not necessarily be. I believe that Fracking should not continue in Ohio. Although it brings jobs to the country, and bring us domestic fuel, it is becoming a health hazard to bio life, which is very important. Fracking (formal name hydraulic fracturing), is the process of which million of gallons of water are pumped a mile underground to get methane out of pockets in the shale. Fracking fluid is a mixture of chemicals and water pumped underground through supposedly safe wells. The oil companies actually doing the fracking say that the wells are completely safe. However, only 50% of the fracking fluid is brought out of the wells. The rest of it is left underground and never retrieved. This can contaminate the ground we farm on an the water we drink.. Fracking affects everyone around the wells, though it may be indirectly. It can affect someone by giving them millions of dollars for land or contaminating their drinking water. Some environmentalists believe that this can contaminate water in the aquifer, a mile above the shale. The composition of fracking fluid has not been released to the public. No one knows what is in the fluid, but people have predicted. It is thought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Articles of Confederation left the national government without a judiciary and independent executive, leaving Congress with most of the power; but it was largely a creature of the states. This sparked conflicted amongst state which eventually lead to the government s debt. Once The Founding Fathers realized the poor ethics that the Articles of Confederation had, the first topic they felt the need to discuss had been federalism. As read in We the People textbook, federalism means the Constitution s division of governing authority between two levels, nation and states was the result of political bargaining. As I reflect back on previous lessons/discussions, I find it that Federalism is an ideology that s written in the constitution to divide power between federal and state government; even though the term is not bluntly stated. Honorably, the simulation mirrored what took place in 1787, by having four interest groups and Senators from eight delegations representing their states interest. The Senators main objective had been to reform the Proposed Legislation for Federal Anti Smoking Standards bill that could potentially benefit both their locals and local government. For the duration of the simulation, both the interest groups and Senators demonstrated the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We now have all these flavors we can make with food, seasonings, and just simply fire. Yet we waste the way the food really tastes. How? You ask, by allowing our food to rest within each other in an explosion of stupidity! We disrespect the art of eating by allowing the food to touch and mix together. • 19. Literary Analysis Of Ross Capicchioni By Joyner Lucas The song Ross Capicchioni by Joyner Lucas can be a prime example of a literary piece because of its plot, multi perspectives, and tone throughout the song. Manipulating words so that it could fit into different rhyming schemes to set a specific tone has added a dramatic and poetic effect on literary writings. A good plot is one of, if not the most critical part of a literary piece because it keeps a reader, viewer or listener interested in the piece. Lastly, the multi perspectives of the piece makes it literary because of the ability to imagine and bring to life both points of views are rare in writings, songs and poems. Ross Capicchioni is based on a true story, which is about a 10th grade transfer student (Ross Capicchioni) that is greeted and welcomed by another student at his high school. While Ross was enjoying his time at school and building his friendship with one of his peers, the so called friend was plotting to kill Ross but could not find a good time to do it. The song finally gets to a point where Ross is offered a car by his uncle and is asked by his friend to be dropped off on a side of town that is known to be gang affiliated. Regardless of the countless signs Ross notice s, he refuses to follow his gut but he continues to help his friend . When they arrived at the destination Ross is stripped out of the car and is shot with a shot gun 3 times (chest, head, and arm). Once he realizes that he has been shot and tries to fight through the pain, the writer switches perspective from the victim to the perpetrator. When the Joyner starts to rap, he first sets the tone of the song. Woke up at 7, my day seemed more than I prayed for, Got dressed to head out and ride to school on my skateboard while the line seems to be very basic to others, Joyner tells the listener this to give a sense of innocents to the character throughout the story. Right after Joyner shows innocents of the high school kid, he follows the two lines with New kid in class I sat alone takin notes while the hoodlums were makin jokes at the clothes that my momma paid for . • 22. The Impact Of Stuxnet Worm On The World s Nuclear Facilities Another occurrence of cyberwarfare and its power lies within the Stuxnet worm, unleashed primarily to attack Iranian industrial programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in the nation s Nuclear facilities. The Stuxnet worm is typically introduced to its target environment via an infected USB flash drive, and upon being loaded onto a computer running the Microsoft Windows operating system the worm would then seek out Siemens Step7 software. This software will then allow for Stuxnet to control Iranian PLCs, collecting information on industrial systems and causing the fast spinning centrifuges to tear themselves apart. Stuxnet s complexity is evident in its three prong approach to infection: It unloads a worm that executes all routines related to the main attack, it executes a link file that automatically activates other copies of the worm on the same network, and it activates its rootkit, which allows it to hide its processes and activity on the local computer as well as the entire computer network. Kaspersky Lab, an international software security group operating in almost 200 countries and territories worldwide, concluded that the attack is a one of a kind, sophisticated malware attack backed by a well funded, highly skilled attack team and that the attack could only be conducted with nation state support and backing . The first part of the coursework asks to derive the forward and inverse kinematics of a serial manipulator (Lynxmotion arm AL5B) and plot its workspace and trajectories. The second part asks to develop a kinematic simulation of the parallel robot. The third part is an open ended relevant topic. Matlab software is used here to create model for simulation. 2. Serial Robot Kinematics (Part 1) The 5 degree of freedom Lynxmotion arm AL5B consists of a base, a shoulder, a elbow, a wrist, a wrist rotation and a gripper. Brian Munoz is an example of a student learning English as a foreign language. He was born in Mexico and his first language is Spanish. As well as studying English he has also studied French. Brian has an interest in learning languages and wishes to one day be able to travel to the countries where those languages are spoken. Brian would first like to visit the united states in order to completely immerse himself in English. There are five members of his family, himself, his parents and his siblings. Motivation Brian is both intrinsically and extrinsically motivated to learn English. In an interview he stressed that he thinks English will be necessary in university in order for him to obtain a degree. Brian also stated that he wishes to use his English skills in the future in order to obtain a better job. An intrinsic reason is that Brian has two cousins who speak English that he would like to be able to talk to (Harmer; 2007, pp. 98 104). Learning Style Brian has a highly logical mathematical intelligence. This suggests he is a highly analytical and scientific thinker (Oxford; 2001, pp. 359 366). Brian s style of learning can be particularly well suited to learning grammar and other pattern based aspects of language. He finds when the teacher gives the students a set formula to grammar learning very easy. Teaching Method The Comprehension Based Approach will be best suited for Brian. Brian has stated that he struggles the most with listening comprehension, and this approach emphasizes listening and comprehension (Sauvignon; 2001, pp. 13 28). Student Needs Brian would like to improve his English fluency, especially when listening to spoken English. He is confident in his abilities in other areas such as grammar. Csikszentmihalyi defines happiness in terms of how we achieve it. He suggests that people achieve happiness not by trying to look for it directly (609) but by looking for it directly. He also added that by achieving control over the contents of our consciousness (609), a circuitous path begins, thus the beginning of achieving happiness. Further, Csikszentmihalyi stated that just like happiness, success is not to be pursued but ensued. This statement is ideally illustrated by Viktor Frankl s book on Man s Search for meaning: Don t aim at success the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it (609). As quoted by Csikszentmihalyi that people often end up feeling that their lives have been wasted, and instead of being filled with happiness their years were spent in anxiety and boredom (608).
