The Tragedy Of The Commons Essay
The Tragedy of the Commons American Earth: Environmental Writing Since Thoreau is a diverse yet
interconnected collection of essays by renowned environmentalist authors who have been influential
in literature, religion, science, and politics. Each piece has a specific purpose and role that it plays in
conveying ideas and themes. Many authors share their personal opinions on issues such as the world s
declining forests, the extinction of species, as well their intimate experiences with nature. However,
the most influential essay in this book is The Tragedy of the Commons by Garrett Hardin (438). A
multitude of pieces in this book tie into the tragedy of the commons and support its ideas in one way
or another.
In his essay Hardin discusses how the rapid decline of the world s common places, such as natural
animal pastures, are the result of rapid, uncontrolled human population growth. Hardin suggests that
environmental problems such as deforestation, crowding out of native species, loss of resources,
pollution, poor job economy, etc., are the result of the loss of common spaces. He indicated that
common spaces used to be plentiful enough for every person to have an abundant share, but that was
when the human population was smaller than the current population of 7 billion people. Hardin s
powerful essay proposes many solutions and methods for solving the ever increasing tragedy of the
commons.
Ruin is the destination towards which all men rush, each pursuing his

My Experience In My First Day Of College
It was a warm and sunny day, I was able to sleep until eleven o clock in the mooring. I woke up got
dressed and attended my first college class. Walking across campus, I saw familiar faces from
freshman orientation back in June. I felt comfortable starting my first day of college. I told myself that
this was a new chapter in my life, and I wanted to make something special of it. I wanted to make a
difference. My number one goal was to get myself known. I made so many friends by just simply
making small talk. I know so many faces on campus and I can not wait to see what the future has in
store for me. My personal involvement at Adelphi is the reason why I have made so many friends here
at Adelphi. Starting back in June at Freshman Orientation, I got involved. I took it upon myself to
break the ice within my group. Others were really shy, but I wanted to include everyone and make my
three day experience worth it. Coming back in August was exciting, I got to meet even more people.
Meeting people from all different parts on New York, America, and the world. I think it is so cool that
my neighbors are from Japan. They even gave me some Japanese snacks. The first week at Adelphi
was stressful. I really was not used to living away from home and I got home sick. After going home
the first weekend, I cam back stronger than ever. My email box was flooding with emails from
Adelphi. Emails about getting involved, joining clubs, and events. I attended Caliber which is an
awesome club

Sierra Stage Performance Analysis
I watched Sierra Stages performance of Christopher Durang s Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike
on Broad Street, Nevada City, March 14, 2015. This was directed by Jeffery Mason in a proscenium
theater configuration. I will discuss how all aspects of the performance except one worked well within
verisimilitude, the creative concept for this production except one and how Each of the parts of the
play contributed to the performance. The conventions of the play were easy to determine and most of
them are familiar conventions. They include:. They were: Representational theater; relatable
characters; two act form; comedy; mythical characters allowed; set in the present; mirrors Chekov s
characters and events from his plays. For the most part, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly Vanya is the protagonist, that almost all of the action is centered around him. He is used by the
playwright to promote the importance to family through his providing of companionship and
emotional support firstly, to his mother and then to his sister. Secondly, Sonia is the confidant of
Vanya who talks, eats, and grew up with him. Sonia, by valuing appearances, contributes to the theme
of vanity of appearances and it is made obvious through her appearance loving is foolish. She also has
lots of arguments with her brother, touching on the Contentious relatives theme of Chekov s plays.
Thirdly, Masha is another confidant of Vanya, helps communicate the appearance theme by doing
what Sonia does in her heart and because she finances her sisters. Fourthly, Masha contributes to the
Contentious relatives of Chekov s plays. By choosing a boyfriend that is immature, she promotes
Chekov s theme of Mismatched lovers Fourthly, Spike serves as a protagonist who causes grief for,
betrays, and tempts Masha to sell the house. He is a mismatched lover and promotes its theme. He also
loves his appearance, so he contributes to the appearance theme. Cassandra is not a kind. Fifthly, Nina
is an antagonist who has an affair with Spike, praises Masha, and has a long discussion with Vanya.
The Idea of the play can be classified classified major categories:

Optimism In Dark Inside
The Importance of Optimism as a Character Trait What is a character trait that everyone needs in order
to overcome obstacles? In the novel Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts, five characters named Mason, Aries,
Chickadee, Evans, and Michael try to survive in an apocalyptic world with optimism. An earthquake
strikes each character s neighbourhood and many citizens die as a result. Although these five
characters do not know each other and are situated in different locations in the beginning, they
eventually encounter one another. Their main goal is to survive this obnoxious disaster. Each character
goes through a different adventure optimistically, and perseveres despite the myriad of problems they
face. Therefore, the novel Dark Inside shows that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are multiple protagonists in the story, and they all go through different adventures. A character
named Chickadee, who Mason encounters, develops from being very dependant into a more
independent and optimistic character. She has diabetes, so she cannot live without insulin. Since the
earthquake was so destructive, there are no doctors left to treat her. Chickadee becomes pessimistic
when she realizes she will inevitably die if she does not get treated. However, before Chickadee dies,
she explains, There are different types of people in this world. There are people who accept what s in
front of them unquestioningly... Then there are people like me. Optimists. They too live in the dark, in
times like these, but dream of the light (219). Chickadee admits she is an optimist, and advises Mason
to be optimistic as well. He also starts looking at the positive side of situations. Even when Chickadee
dies, instead of mourning her death, Mason decides to fulfil her final wish: to go to Vancouver and
feel the ocean for her. Furthermore, another main character, Michael, begins as ignorant and passive,
but becomes more optimistic. When Evans tells Michael that he needs to find his daughter and wife,
Michael volunteers to help. He reassures Evans, We ll get through this. We ll find your wife and child
(85). This proves that Michael becomes a positive and diligent character, who is determined to help
Evans find his family members during these egregious times. In addition, Aries also undergoes
dramatic changes throughout the novel. For instance, she is a very scared and pessimistic character
when she finds out that her friend, Sarah, has died. As the story progresses, Aries develops into an
exceptional leader who others admire and treat respectfully. Aries thinks to herself, No matter how
much of a leader she didn t think she was, she d get them

The City Of Fort Worth, Texas
I grew up in the suburbs on the North side of Fort Worth, Texas, more specifically Keller, Texas.
Keller had a population close to 40,000 people by the time I left for Texas A M, but when I first
arrived there the population was only about 20,000 people. It is a growing town with a ton of
commodities and things to do, new activities are always popping up, such as the new movie theater
that was just built 5 miles away from my house. Being part of the suburbs of Fort Worth, it is mostly
organized in housing developments, with shopping centers scattered around. In each housing
development there were at least two schools, ranging from elementary to high school. At the center of

Music has a big impact on my life, it is one of my favorite things in the world. My music library is so
diverse, so it is hard for me to pick my favorite genre, from hip hop to rock to country. I find it all
tasteful. If I had to say may favorite though it would be alternative rock, mostly because my favorite
band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their bass lines are amazing, and their music has so much heart
and emotion in it, it s something that everyone can jam along to. My least favorite would have to be
screamo, an off shoot of metal. It is just too angry and you cannot understand anything the singer is
saying, it isn t something that is easy for me to appreciate. The Hobbit is my favorite book, the ore
behind it keeps me interested and the way it is written is a completely different style than today s
writing. The writing style almost seems archaic but it has an elegance to it that is extremely difficult to
achieve. My upperclassmen are the heroes in my life right now. Being in the Corps of Cadets at A M
can be difficult sometimes, and without them motivating me and supporting me, I don t believe I
would be able to complete half of the tasks that I have completed. They inspire me threw greatness

The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World
Annotations for: The Statue of Liberty:
1. The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World : was a gift of friendship from the people of France to
the United States and is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy.
2. Treaty of Peace at Versailles : refers to The Peace of Paris (1783), a set of treaties which ended the
American Revolutionary War. In September 1783, King George III of Great Britain signed a treaty in
Paris with the United States known as the Treaty of Paris (1783) and two treaties at Versailles with
King Louis XVI of France and King Charles III of Spain known as the Treaties of Versailles (1783).
3. Lafayette: During the American Revolution, French military man Marquis de La Fayette served
under George Washington as a Major General in the Continental Army.
The first article that I examined from Harper s Weekly was titled The Statue of Liberty. The Statue of
Liberty was a gift to the United States from the people of France. In the early 1880s, French citizens
raised money to present to the United States Liberty Enlightening the World, the immense sculpture
by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi . (Edwards 90.) It is important to note that gift was not from the French
government. It was a gesture of friendship from its citizens and I feel symbolized the stature, in France
s eyes, that America had achieved in the world during the Gilded Age. The Harper s article discusses
the dedication on October 28, 1886 of the statue of Liberty Enlightening

The Global Hotels And Resorts
Leo s Analysis
Our industry, the Global Hotels and Resorts, experienced strong growth over the five years to 2015.
Over the five year period, both consumers and businesses became more confident about their finances
and spent freely on luxuries, including travel. This culminated in a substantial increase in travel rates
and hotel room and occupancy rates, two indicators of a hotel s performance. Travel spending has also
picked up quickly, especially in emerging economies where tourism is on the rise. Global tourist
arrivals are expected to increase an annualized 4.8% over the five years to 2015 to reach 1.2 billion.
As a result of these positive trends, industry revenue is expected to increase an annualized 4.6% over
the five years to 2015 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
International tourist arrivals in emerging economy destinations, such as Asia, Latin America, Eastern
Europe, the Middle East and Africa, will grow at double the pace of destinations in developed
economies. The largest growth will likely be seen in Asia and the Pacific, helping emerging economies
surpass developed economies as the favored destination for tourists by 2015. To keep up with the
aggressive rise in travel rates in these regions, more hotels and resorts will be built, which should
increase the proportion of industry revenue generated and drive industry revenue growth as a whole.
Over the five years to 2020, revenue is projected to increase at an annualized rate of 3.4% to $978.7
billion. In 2016 there will be some new trends emerging as hotels will have to compete with growing
popularity of companies such as Airbnb. Millennials have shifted the focus from hotel loyalty to more
novelty related experiences. The overarching experience that many of these hotels in the industry are
shifting to is updated bars and lounges that spill into the lobby. Renovation will be on the upswing
over the next few years as guests desire more technology, more stimulating social experiences, and
better food and snack choices. Hotels will be looking to charge more fees and surcharges on amenities
as occupancy rates increase. This goes without saying, demand drives prices, and the hotel industry
will be in the driver s seat in the coming years.

The Old Man And The Library
Proverbs are commonly used in Africa are signifiers that help identifies the characteristics and values
of a certain culutre. They are usually simple but provide the reader or listener with an image that
requires reflection for the individual and the society from which it originates. The African proverb,
when an old man dies, it is as if a library has burned down illustrates the importance of wisdom, age,
and experience. This proverb highlights the necessity from preserving historical knowledge and the
devastation that comes with losing that knowledge. Libraries are symbols of education and
information typically containing works of written history whereas the old man who is in juxtaposition
with the library has preserved historical information in his memory, the library in his mind. By placing
the old man and the library as equals, the African proverbs is stating the importance of human wisdom
and the passing of history through the mouths of wise men to youthful ears. This proverb is
reminiscent of the importance of oral history in many African cultures, one being the ancient Mali
Empire. D.T. Niane s version of the Old Mali epic discusses the importance of the griot, or oral
historians, and places the emphasis and priority on the griot, rather than the kings. The griots were the
libraries and when they died, much of the information they possessed would die as well, unless it was
passed on to another griot. The symbolism in this proverb can then be taken quite literally

POST PUNK 1979 1980 Both influenced by the punk scene of New York and also by the

a mix of genres, much more complex and open. I will introduce iconic albums here. Check on the

of the main bands mentioned with a study of the themes. The basis of the punk thought: individual
freedom (do it yourself), challenged the established order. Inspired by older ideologies like anarchy or
nihilism. Associated with a more recent concepts like antifascist anti racism. In everyday life: messy,
improvisation. Punk was characterized by the notion of subversion and absolute individualism. Self
deprecating, embezzlement Codes and especially destruction of social barriers are used to transmit
their messages. This philosophy had been described by Craig O Hara in 1995, in The philosophy of
punk. It is often summed up in the slogan no future but it is an overly simplistic approach because the
full sentence is No future for you ... You being the establishment of this period. Visual symbolic are

A Specific Moment In My Life That Has Drastically Impacted...
If I had to pin point a specific moment in my life that has drastically impacted my academic career it
would be the summer class I took last year at my community college. We were all in class talking
about career planning and what majors we were going to choose once we finished the course and my
professor brought up a very good point. She was asking us all what we wanted to do and most of us
didn t have a solid answer so she looked around the room and asked, when you guys were kids what
did you want to be when you grew up? The first thing I thought of was that I wanted to be a singer.
That however would never work out because I cannot sing to save my life. Other students were saying
things like doctors, lawyers, and other big jobs like that.

The Ethics Of Business Management Essay
Prior to my interview with Dr. Lisa Calvano, I did not have the impression that research was involved
in any part of business management. After meeting with her, I learned exactly how important research
is to the business management discipline. Research in business management is a systematic
investigation that helps to answer complications and problems within businesses. Research in the field
contributes to solid management understanding and knowledge. Information from research is usually
produced by classical methods: statistical data and analysis, interview data, and survey data (i.e., stock
prices). Researchers, especially in business management must be careful to declare their research
findings as credible. Research in business management abides by ethical thinking. Researchers
evaluate their data properly and need to recognize that specified data may be confidential. Most data
that management researchers find is private and it is intended to be kept that way. When researchers
question the ethics behind their research, they look to an Institutional Review Board (IRB) and
occasionally The Code of Ethics . The IRB is a council that was instituted to review and authorize any
and all research engaging humans. The purpose of the committee is to protect human subject research
and to ensure it is regulated according to federal, institutional and ethical guidelines. The Code of
Ethics , also known as the Code of Conduct , is a basis that outlines how professionals are

The Suffering of the Women in Wuthering Heights
It appears that Catherine s expectations are unrealistic especially when placed in the historical context.
The novel is written during the
Victorian era where the role of women in relation to marriage was that they were to be obedient,
disciplined and faithful to their husband.
Catherine does not fulfil any of these roles in the long term.
Firstly, she marries Edgar for social and financial benefits. She becomes aware that she belongs to a
social class when she and

Furthermore, when Heathcliff returns, Catherine should take no interest in trying to rekindle her
feelings for him as Edgar had been putting in effort to make their marriage work Mr. Edgar had a deep

had concealed her zealous behaviour towards Heathcliff then the calm atmosphere would have
remained. Catherine rudely ignores her husband s presence to the extent that he demands the
disrespectful behaviour to be stopped and a decision made
Will you give up Heathcliff hereafter, or will you giver up me? It is impossible for you to be my friend
and his at the same time…
Indeed, Edgar is right to put Catherine s in this difficult situation because any other typical husband at
the time would have been less patient with Catherine or banned Heathcliff from the house at an earlier
stage.
Catherine struggles because the two men in her life represent two types if world and she cannot have
both at the same time. Heathcliff represents the spiritual and natural side of life Nelly, I am

Career Research Paper On Nursing
Having a baby is a special time in a family s life. It is an unforgettable experience. If you ask any
woman about the birth of her child, she can recount every single detail even several years later. Labor
and delivery nurses have the distinct privilege of getting to be a part of this special time. They get to
rejoice with moms and dads when, after years of infertility, a sweet baby is born, cry when a dad cries
after holding his child for the first time, and get excited when a mom of three boys has her first little
girl. These nurses get to experience a miracle every time they go to work. I first learned about this
profession when my friend told me about her experience shadowing a labor and delivery nurse. Her
story immediately sparked an interest in my heart. This career seemed to be a combination of all the
things I love and do best: coaching, supporting, and caring for others. I want to be a labor and delivery
nurse because I would get to touch the lives of thousands of babies and mothers and know that I made
a difference. There are numerous positive and negative aspects of working in the nursing industry.
Some of the positive aspects of this profession include a faster than average job growth rate of sixteen
percent expected within the next couple of years, multiple education options to become a nurse, and
the possibility of getting an entry level job having only completed a certificate program. Another

Third Of May 1808 Essay
Francisco Goya s painting titled The Third of May 1808 represents its intended message about war.
The Third of May 1808 was composed during the era of romanticism in 1814. In this work, Goya
Depicts a gruesome scene during the spanish uprising at the beginning of the peninsula war. This piece
was completed in 1814, but was lost and damaged in World War 2. It has since been found and is
located in Madrid, Spain. The Third of May 1808 is a traditional oil on canvas piece. This painting
was meant to commemorate those who stood up and fought against the French during the uprising.

The image of a stigma on the focus of the piece can be seen. Just as jesus was nailed to the cross, this
man bears his wound. This stood for he men, women, and children who will die today will be
remembered in the hearts of the spanish who would go to fight the French for the oncoming years. The
stigma in the man s hand is the most important part of the painting. In the group of men about to be
executed, there is a friar praying before his death.
Illumination is used almost exclusively in this piece. In the past, Illumination techniques have
portrayed the presence of God or some sort of divine presence. In Goya s painting there is no religious
connotation. There is more of an opposing connotation. The light is used to kill, not heal. The viewer s
eyes are carried by the outlines of the lantern. The lights of the lantern carry you to the dead body of a
man. With The Third of May 1808 Goya displayed the disasters of war with a very fitting art style.
Illumination was used well to bring the focal point of the piece to the hopeless men ready to

Working Environment, Performance Management Essay
We define performance management as the process through which managers ensure that employees
activities and outputs are congruent with the organization s goals (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright,
2016 ). In today s working environment, performance management allows dialogue around
performance improvement, which happens to be a system that many company s have adapted. With
there being high competition to build up an exemplary employee and be able to maintain them
different companies are rewarding and recognizing employees in different ways. There are companies
that believe that in order to motivate and retain an employee there has to be an incentive. However,
there are other companies that think the complete opposite, and believe that an employee will work
harder and be more motivated when the job is a non commission base role or an incentive is expected.
Argumentation/Discussion There are two different perspectives when it comes it incentives. The
argument for companies that believe incentives are a great way to drive the growth and profit of the
company is as follow. Incentives motivate an employee, and there are experts that state that bonuses,
rewards and incentives attract an employee to improve their work performance, and meet deadlines. It
is believed that incentives creates loyalty and trust between the employee and its employer improving
its relationship. There was a research with MIT students, and they were given a set of challenges and

The Value Of Immigrants By Danielle Muhammad

August 14, 2017 Final Project: The Value of Immigrants
Immigration has, and continues to be, one of the most contentious issues in the United States (U.S.).
While some see immigrants as opportunistic thieves, others view them as enormous economy
boosters. Immigrants foreign born individuals often have to deal with the negative outcomes of anti
immigrant policies. These exclusionary laws not only increase racial prejudice but also make foreign
born individuals feel less valuable than their native born counterparts. The laws to some extent also

In 2007, 5.9 million individuals worked in immigrant owned organizations. Almost every state had
over a hundred thousand natives employed in immigrant owned firms with California recording 1.5
million workers (New American Economy, 2016). These firms have created revenues of over $4.8
trillion and provided work for 18.9 million people worldwide in 2014 alone. Researchers have often
claimed that were American Fortune 500 companies to make up a country, their revenues would make
rank them as the third highest gross domestic product (GDP) in the world. As consumers, immigrants
create jobs by spending their salaries on products and services provided by companies in the U.S.
Consequently, this helps in sustaining the jobs of employees in those firms. Also, whenever immigrant
workers increase in a particular region, investors build new stores and restaurants, thus increasing job
opportunities.
In the past, an increase in the population of immigrants resulted in reduced wages for native born
workers in the U.S. Studies carried out by scholars indicate that a one percent rise in foreign born
individuals led to reduction in the earnings of artisans and unskilled workers (Abramitzky Boustan,
2016). However, recent studies have shown that the immigrant population brings more value to the
native born worker wage than harm. The foreign born workers typically possess a variety of skills and

Although Milestone s has a very similar target market to Olive Garden it is a substantially different
restaurant. One of the biggest differences is that Milestone s has no ethnic theme to its décor or its
menu. When asked, a Milestone s server described the theme to be Classic urban fare with globally
inspired twists in an elegant but casual setting. This theme is carried out through the use of dark
woods and brass throughout the interior as well as several Asian inspired menu items. The Langley
location of Milestone s has approximately 200 seats including a 50 seat patio and 20 lounge seats

with maximum waits approaching 45 minutes. This is one significant advantage over Olive Garden.
Another distinct difference between the two restaurants is that Milestone s only utilizes booth seating,
as opposed to the approximately half and half mix of tables and booths at the Olive Garden. The
increased number of booths allows for a much more private atmosphere, as it more effectively
separates the individual parties from one another. The menu offered at Milestone s has an excellent
selection of entrees as well offering breakfast items which Olive Garden does not. However the wine
list at Milestone s is not nearly as extensive in either variety of wines

The Myth Of Hades
Once in the land of The Underworld there was a god by the name of Hades. Hades was the richest of
the gods. But there was one flaw, he didn t have a heart, that is why Zeus put him as the ruler of the
underworld. One fine spring day Zeus was planning a gathering of the gods. But he had to make one
final decision, and that was if he was going to invite his brother Hades. The sun hurts his eyes and the
smell of the nice air burns his nostrils. Zeus says. His wife Hera was trying to help him with the
decision, but it was only making it worse so she left the room. Finally, he made the decision and that
was inviting Hades. Hermes delivered the letter to Hades and he was very surprised, but now it was
his decision to go or not. Hades ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were all surprised and they went to Zeus and asked what was wrong with him, but the thing is
Zeus didn t know either. Hades left the gathering after saying goodbye to everyone at the gathering.
While Hades was driving his chariot he found himself stopping at the maiden s little cabin. Hades
wanted to see her, but he didn t want to startle her so he slept in his chariot that night as he let the
horses rest after the long ride. He woke up the next day by after he felt a tap with a stick on the
forehead. He looked and found that it was the young maiden, seeing if he was okay but very cautious.
She didn t know who he was so she asked very kindly, Who are you. Hades didn t want her to know
that he was the god of the underworld so he told her he was a prince that was lost and needed help
finding his way back home. So the maiden helped him up and he asked for her name. She said, I am
Jewels. Hades told her it was a beautiful name. She turned away and blushed. Then she asked what
palace, he was from. He told her it was a very long trip so she asked to go along. Hades kindly agreed,
so she packed her thing and said her goodbyes and traveled with Hades all the way to the underworld.
For some reason Jewels liked to be with Hades because he treated her like his queen, he gave her
necklaces and very nice gifts. They got married and had a demigod named Heartimis, he had only one

The Main Goal for a Pitcher
Former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher Randy Johnson once said, Tiger Woods, Larry Bird,
Wayne Gretzky, as a pitcher just before a game, I would imagine they all have nervous energy. But as
you perform, the nervous energy dissipates and you start to relax and you start to do what you do best.
Being a professional baseball pitcher is like a work of art, but no easy task. It s important that you
have complete control of your emotions and mechanics to have modest success as a pitcher. There are
successful pitchers like Cy Young who still hold the record for most wins in MLB history at 511, and
guys like Nolan The Express Ryan who regularly threw pitches above 100 miles per hour. There are
also pitchers such as Justin Verlander who are completely dominant and considered to be one of the
best pitchers of our generation, and then you have your submarine pitchers like Chadwick Lee Chad
Bradford who have unorthodox way to pitch the baseball. Although these guys display different
mechanics before each pitch, they still share the basic five steps of pitching that explain the
Biomechanical Analysis of the Baseball Pitch. These five steps include: the wind up, stride, arm
cocking, arm acceleration, arm deceleration with follow through. Pitching in itself is a science and this
paper will provide a thorough biomechanical analysis of the baseball pitch following all the six steps.

How Did George Washington Carver Impact The Food Industry
How did George Washington Carver impacted the food industry? Craver was an African American
botanist who was very involved in creating inventions. Carver s best work went into food based
creations, such as pecans and sweet potatoes. To answer my question he impacted the food industry by
the creation of peanut butter and using this to make up to 300 products. This includes soap, ink, candy,
etc. In addition to his success in the food industry, he also has an interesting background story.
George Washington Carver had many struggles in his life that had impacted his work ethic and made
him such a famous African American inventor he is considered today. Carver was born into slavery in
1865 in Diamond, Missouri. He had a strong passion for teaching and sharing the knowledge he has
acquired over time, also the drive he had to make it through school was unimaginable. During this
time getting a decent education was difficult, but Carver was one of those people that had to do this to

Prostitution In The Philippines
Prostitution is one of the oldest professions that have widely been practiced around the world, and the
Philippines is no exception to this. With the advent of Spanish colonists in the late 1500s, Filipina
slaves were sold as exotic sex objects or prostitutes to European brothels. During the early 1940s,
many Filipinas in Manila and surrounding towns served as comfort girls to provide sexual favors to
Japanese soldiers of the Japanese Imperial Army serving in the country and in the Pacific region.
Today, with the emergence of information technology and global travel, the age old profession has
begun to operate on a technological scale, and sex workers, mostly young girls, have moved not only
to the big cities but also online. To be specific, a new form of prostitution among Filipina schoolgirls,
called Prosti tuition, has surfaced recently in the country.
Prosti tuition, as the name suggests, is a term used among student sex workers to refer to the use of
prostitution as a means of earning money to send themselves to school. Sometimes called survival sex,
it is sex work that pays for these students tuition fees, school supplies, allowance, cellphone load, and
the like. Typically, the peak season for this tuition payment scheme is during enrollment period or
right before final/periodic exams (Santos, 2014).
Compared to traditional prostitution, what is interesting about prosti tuition is that the personal
services providers (PSPs) or walkers mostly rely on smartphones

Music On My Car Ride Home
It was only a few short years ago, after returning from a speaking engagement at a men s conference
in Barrie Ontario, when I began to have a headache. It was only about one hour before I would be
home, so I grabbed a bottle of water, just thinking that I was dehydrated and tired from the long day
and dismissed the head pain as a temporary discomfort. Listening to music on the radio on my car ride
home would be a good distraction for the remainder of the trip. One of my favourite alt rock bands,
The Kings of Leon had just released a new single called Temple. It was a catchy tune so I turned up
the volume, and if you are familiar with this musical group at all it usually takes a few listens to begin
to navigate the searing vocals and sing along with the lively lyrics. The chorus was immediately
infectious and since I was alone in my personal travelling concert hall I bellowed along loudly; I d
take one in the temple, I d take one for you. I d take one in the temple (temple), I d take one for you.
Humming my way through the verses and then boom, the chorus kicks in and off I go again; ...take
one in the temple... , and before I could complete the last refrain, it felt like I just took a knife literally
into the right side of my head. The music went off. The gas pedal went down. The head ache went
from zero to sixty in 1.2 seconds. My mind began to play games with me, fear can do that, pain can do
that too, and I began to wonder about the lyrical portend. Was it just a

Similarities Between Adam Smith And Adam Smith
As philosophy emancipated from Aristotle and Thomism, man had been placed at the centre of the
universe. The Renaissance witnessed the intellectual emancipation as Scientific Revolution. The
Scientific Revolution began with Copernicus in the first half of the sixteenth century. Antoyne de
Montchretien announced the programme in the title of his main work, Traite de l oeconomie politique
(1615), here he described that economics, the science of acquisition , was an important part of politics
before classical school of thoughts.

to Adam Smith, by adopting the division of labour theory wealth of nation can be increased. Size of

The Problem Of Illegal Immigrants
Donald Trump wrongly says the number of illegal immigrants is 30 million or higher Donald Trump
made several claims recently that the population of illegal immigrants in the U.S. has risen to thirty
million or more. He claimed that the government had no grasp on the population of illegal immigrants,
and that he s seen those estimates in several papers and other sources. The Department of Homeland
Security disagreed, saying that their calculations of illegal immigrants took a lot of factors into
account. Even with a plus or minus one million margin, there was no way possible for the number of
illegal immigrants to have tripled without them knowing. Several other major research organizations
agreed, saying they also came up with estimates very close to the eleven million estimate given. No
one is really sure where exactly Trump got these outrageous and wildly inaccurate claims, but they are
almost certain that he is incorrect. I think Trump will always be a racist figurehead, constantly
spewing misinformation because he knows the general public will eat it up. He spent some time in
probably what is mostly a white supremacist Texas town, and suddenly came back with unfounded
overestimates of the population of illegal immigrants. This does not surprise me, nor should it surprise
anyone else.

Casti Connubai On Christian Marriage
1. Christ dignified chaste wedlock before the coming of Christ by establishing it as a form of
companionship between two people who will come together to have children. He designed this union
to be the foundation of society. Christ further dignified wedlock by taking the Church as His bride.
2. In Casti Connubii on Christian Marriage, Pope Pius XI lists two things men must do to obtain the
fruits of the sacrament of matrimony. The first is to be enlightened and fully understand Christ s true
doctrine regarding matrimony itself. The second is to still remain pure in their thoughts and actions in
order to obtain true peace and happiness for themselves and for their families .
3. a. The Pope sees a need to speak about the sanctity of marriage at this time because he saw that the
people of his day were beginning to forget the importance of a holy marriage. It especially applies
today with the leniency of how human intimacy is treated. Knowing this, the Pope spoke of it to
remind people the importance of a Holy Christian marriage. b. We know the Pope is teaching
infallibly here because he is re explaining a teaching already in practice. He doesn t add anything to
the core of the teaching, which is to avoid temptation in the context of human intimacy, by shows
specifically the temptations presented at that time in which the faithful should avoid. We can further
confirm that the Pope speaks infallibly because all teachings of the Pope come from God, and there
cannot be a fallible teaching from God Himself.
5. a. The point of Arcanum Divinae , as explained by Pope Pius XI, was to concentrate of matrimony
as a divine institution and it s sacramental and perpetual stability. He used this Encyclical specifically
as a reference and foundation for his own Encyclical. The only difference being that Arcanum Divinae
speaks of the spiritual aspects of the sacrament while the Casti Connubii speaks of both the
sacramental and the earthly systems and their effect on the lives of men. b. Man cannot change the
laws that strengthen marriage because such laws were not created by man. It is a fundamental doctrine
that the institution of matrimony and its laws were written by God. Since God is infallible, and

town because she sees evil where there is none. Because of Ms. Strangeworth paranoid of fixing
things, she sends anonymous letters hoping she could stop the trouble. However, one day she drops a

first, Ms. Strangeworth thinks she is flawless without any drop of evilness. Second, because of her
arrogance makes her thinks that everyone else is evil and cruel. Ms. Strangeworth s ego makes her

The Food Waste And Recycling
Food Waste Recycling
There are billions of people struggling every day to have enough to eat, and billions of tons of food
being tossed in the garbage, food waste is gaining increasing awareness as a serious environmental
and economic issue. Research shows that about 60 million metric tons of food is wasted a year in the
United States, with an estimated value of $162 billion. About 32 million tons of it end up in landfills,
at a cost of about $1.5 billion a year to local government this economic crisis is worldwide! My
research estimates that a third of all the food produced in the world is never consumed, and the total
cost of that food waste could be as high as $400 billion a year. The food discarded by retailers and
consumers in the most developed countries would be more than enough to feed all of the world s
hungry people, but it is not just those countries that have problems with food waste, it is also an issue
in African countries like South Africa. The problem is expected to grow worse as the world s
population increases, unless actions are taken to reduce the waste. Food waste is not only a social cost,
but it contributes to growing environmental problems like global warming, experts say, with the
production of food consuming vast quantities of water, fertilizer and land. The fuel that is burned to
process, refrigerate and transport it also adds to the environmental cost. Most food waste is thrown
away in landfills, where it decomposes and emits methane, a potent

for a lot of things, but is social media an effective resource for activism? In the article, Gladwell starts
off by telling the story about four friends. Their names were David Richmond, Franklin McCain, Ezell

Ambivalence In Hitchcock s 1946 Notorious
Hitchcock s 1946 Notorious takes place in the morally ambiguous world in the midst of post World
War Two where the questioning of alliances and moralities have reached a breaking point. Alicia, the
daughter to an incarcerated Nazi supporter, finds herself in the midst of a purgatory world stuck in
between love and hate, in other words one of ambivalence. In this state of conflicting feelings of
hatred and like for the same individual that results in a state of uncertainty or irrationality, alcohol,
which is the driving force of the story line aims to showcase the extremes of this transference. This
glitch, meaning this a flaw in our thinking, most predominantly affects ideas of who or what is defined
as love, hate and their differences. Although Alicia is the only one seen as an alcoholic in Notorious,
all the characters have a relationship to this reoccurring theme that results in their undoing. These
ideas of emotional extremes, ambivalence, are always reinforcing and surrounded the idea of alcohol,
seeing it as a destroying force as it is the initiating quality of the story lines and is present throughout.
Poe s Black Cat aims to showcase the existing parallels of this alcoholic glitch as well as the
relationships to alcohol leading to many are the deceivers . Humanities introduces an idea of

The command and control of the plan starts with the County Executive as the lawful person authorized

Development And Evolution Of Ballet In The 15th And 16th...
Ballet originated in the Italian Renaissance courts of the 15th and 16th centuries. Court musicians and
dancers collaborated to make flowy dances. These were just the roots, if you were to watch a tape of
this early form of ballet (which you can t) you would notice that it looks absolutely nothing like
anything that you see today. Every ballet of the time was not choreographed and often had the
audience partake in the festivities. As the 15th century went on Ballet evolved into choreographed
steps and the dance was more often being used at aristocrats weddings and anniversaries. One of the
most famous choreographers and dancers of the time was a man by the name of Domenico da

moved with the Aristocrats of the time to France where another big stage of evolution occurred. As it
moved to France it made a jump from wedding performances to large theatre shows. The king at the
time; Louis the 14th developed a true passion towards the art and set aside ministers and other
officials solely in charge of Ballet. Many Italian choreographers had traveled to France to follow their
passion and had trouble mixing in with the French appointed choreographers and dancers. At the time
many of the Italian choreographer s shows would not sell well and the dancers would often go on

Essay On Steaks
Hey Wes, did you remember to get some more dropcloth and paints? Wes groaned, knowing that if he
admitted to forgetting the supplies he would ve disappointed Tina, his wife. Well, it s not as if I forgot,
rather, I was... distracted? Yeah! EMT s were called to the store to resuscitate a rat that had a heart
attack. It was no ordinary rat, actually; it was an emotional support rat. Tragic, really. Wes said rather
unconvincingly. Tina chuckled, amused by Wes s clumsy attempt to cover himself. Yes, and I m sure
that Ratatouille was there too, making soup. Tina paused, looked at Wes s embarrassed face, and let
him off the hook. Look, it s fine. We could always get them later. Wes breathed a sigh of relief, and
kissed his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He stood out, with his white cane and dark glasses. He could feel the stares as he walked along the
street, the hairs on his neck standing straight. Slowly, Wes accepted his new reality, and eventually
came to the conclusion that he could still do what he loved, but that he had to work harder than before.
Wes asked his wife to bring him the paints and a canvas, while he sat with an oil paintbrush in his
hand that he had chosen by feeling the bristles along the tip. Tina, who was hoping for this day to
come, had already set the paints in a specific order; with the primary colors first, and secondary colors
next, from light to dark. She took his hand and led him, having him touch the braille on the lid of the
paints and to try to match the names of colors with the bumps. An hour had passed and, frustrated,
Wes flung himself into a chair and wept. I... I just can t do it. All the time I had spent perfecting my
skills and techniques... and now I have to start all over again? And even worse, I can never see you
again... Your curly blonde hair, the way your nose slightly crinkled when you laughed, the dimples on
your face when you smiled... Wes sniffled, burying his face in his hands, a tear running down his
rough face. Tina bent down, and interlocked her fingers with his. No matter what happens, Wes, I will
never give up on you. I believe that you can do whatever you put your mind to. Do you remember
when we first met? Wes thought about it for a moment, and

The pancreas cannot control the level of insulin in his bloodstream through decreased secretion.
(Dinsmoor,2014) Another example is Heart failure which is the result of negative feedback
mechanisms that become overwhelmed, allowing destructive positive feedback mechanisms to
compensate for the failed feedback mechanisms.(Boundless Anatomy, 2018) This leads to high blood
pressure and enlargement of the heart, which eventually becomes too stiff to pump blood effectively.
(Boundless Anatomy, 2018) In these cases, medical intervention is necessary to restore homeostasis

Management Of Incremental Software Development Across...
Agile is the management of incremental software development across cross functional teams. Learned
from years of successes and failures, the agile philosophy centers on software development with an
importance with self organization, motivation, in addition to daily team interaction. It means being
able to present working software instead of slides and documentation. Agile encourages customer
collaboration throughout the entire process to allow developers to respond to change in a timely
manner. The agile development process can be implemented by different developmental processes and
is comprised of several key principles. With personal experience of the outcome of correct agile
implementation; agile can have the opposite effect without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Each increment includes a planning phase where high level requirements are defined. These
requirements are bundled into delivery cycles and at the end of each delivery cycle a working
functionality is delivered to the customer. Iterative life cycles are scalable and can be used for large or
small projects. They are also useful when projects have predefined schedule constraints. Other types
of life cycles are sequential life cycles and prototyping life cycles. Sequential life cycles include
models such as the Pure Waterfall Method, differ from agile because the product is not delivered until
the end of the project. The waterfall method however, implements phases such as the agile method
but, these phases produce documentation not working deliverables to the customer. The waterfall
method works well for projects with customers that know what they want and are fully committed to
the project. Prototype life cycle models are particularly unique. A prototype life cycle model, such as
the rapid prototyping model, is commonly utilized as a visual tool than an entire standalone process.
Rapid prototyping is designed to model a piece of software and product with limited functionality. The
rapid prototyping model is usually incorporated into the waterfall method during the concept
definition phase to provide a visual aid to the customers, since no working

Stockbridge-Munsee Tribe Research Paper
I chose the Stockbridge Munsee Tribe. I primarily chose this tribe because it is one that was influential
in my life having gone to school in Bonduel. I have friends among this tribe and have genuinely
enjoyed the knowledge and heritage they have shared with me. This tribe is located in Shawano
County and covers a span of 22,139 acres. Of this acreage about 73.4% is held in trust while the
remaining 26.6% is fee land. The Stockbridge Munsee Tribe has a total of 1565 tribal members. Of

The Education System Of Ethiopia
Pastoralist Education in Ethiopia Currently:
For several years, donors have been implementing Alternative Basic Education Center s in Ethiopia as
a way to supplement the formal primary education system in the country. Currently the country faces a
number of challenges in regards to their formal primary school system including lack of infrastructure,
lack of teachers and economical constraints. Many regions in Ethiopia are hard to reach and the
provision of formal education is lacking. To supplement this lack of formal primary schools, donors,
together with governments have implemented Alternative Basic Education Center s. These centers are
set up differently than formal school as it covers the curriculum of lower primary school, which is
traditionally 4 years, and fits it all into 3 years. Upon completion of these 3 years, it is expected that
students will be prepared to move into upper primary school (grades 5 8). This set up alleviates the
problem of a lack of primary schools, and by completing the curriculum in 3 years, it allows those
children who started late to catch up. (CARE Interview)
Save the Children Denmark s Alternative Basic Education Project was implemented in the Amhara
Region of Ethiopia. While this is not a pastoralist region, it provided Save the Children and the
Ethiopian government many insights to non formal education models and many organizations began
implementing Alternative Basic Education Center s in the Afar and Somali regions following this

The Happiness Advantage
Everyone s ideal world contains no problems. The dream life is full of happiness because you have the
perfect job, an abundance of money to afford the best of things, and a magic wand to wave and solve
any issue that comes your way. This would be considered in today s society a person who is very
successful, and most of all, happy. This may not always be true. In Shawn Achor s book, The
Happiness Advantage, he describes happiness as a feeling that everyone should have regardless of the
situation they are in or the problems they are dealing with. He discusses that happiness is the precursor
to success, and not to be confused with the opposing view. The 3 main theories that Achor believes
will give the greatest happiness advantage is The Zorro Circle, The Fulcrum and the Lever, and the
Social Investment. Achor suggests that happiness comes before success because happiness will give
you a better outlook, and success may not always intend that happiness is to follow. Our most positive
emotions include hope, love, pride and joy. Each of these emotions are different according to the
person experiencing them. All of them relate to happiness, which can help us to be in a better mood in
the future as well as in the present (Achor, p.40). Happiness should be our main focus in everything
we do. When we set up a smarter and more motivated mindset, we then start to focus on our own
happiness and allow success to grow from that feeling. Happiness should be the first thing we think

  • 2. The Tragedy Of The Commons Essay The Tragedy of the Commons American Earth: Environmental Writing Since Thoreau is a diverse yet interconnected collection of essays by renowned environmentalist authors who have been influential in literature, religion, science, and politics. Each piece has a specific purpose and role that it plays in conveying ideas and themes. Many authors share their personal opinions on issues such as the world s declining forests, the extinction of species, as well their intimate experiences with nature. However, the most influential essay in this book is The Tragedy of the Commons by Garrett Hardin (438). A multitude of pieces in this book tie into the tragedy of the commons and support its ideas in one way or another. In his essay Hardin discusses how the rapid decline of the world s common places, such as natural animal pastures, are the result of rapid, uncontrolled human population growth. Hardin suggests that environmental problems such as deforestation, crowding out of native species, loss of resources, pollution, poor job economy, etc., are the result of the loss of common spaces. He indicated that common spaces used to be plentiful enough for every person to have an abundant share, but that was when the human population was smaller than the current population of 7 billion people. Hardin s powerful essay proposes many solutions and methods for solving the ever increasing tragedy of the commons. Ruin is the destination towards which all men rush, each pursuing his ... • 3. My Experience In My First Day Of College It was a warm and sunny day, I was able to sleep until eleven o clock in the mooring. I woke up got dressed and attended my first college class. Walking across campus, I saw familiar faces from freshman orientation back in June. I felt comfortable starting my first day of college. I told myself that this was a new chapter in my life, and I wanted to make something special of it. I wanted to make a difference. My number one goal was to get myself known. I made so many friends by just simply making small talk. I know so many faces on campus and I can not wait to see what the future has in store for me. My personal involvement at Adelphi is the reason why I have made so many friends here at Adelphi. Starting back in June at Freshman Orientation, I got involved. I took it upon myself to break the ice within my group. Others were really shy, but I wanted to include everyone and make my three day experience worth it. Coming back in August was exciting, I got to meet even more people. Meeting people from all different parts on New York, America, and the world. I think it is so cool that my neighbors are from Japan. They even gave me some Japanese snacks. The first week at Adelphi was stressful. I really was not used to living away from home and I got home sick. After going home the first weekend, I cam back stronger than ever. My email box was flooding with emails from Adelphi. Emails about getting involved, joining clubs, and events. I attended Caliber which is an awesome club ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was directed by Jeffery Mason in a proscenium theater configuration. I will discuss how all aspects of the performance except one worked well within verisimilitude, the creative concept for this production except one and how Each of the parts of the play contributed to the performance. The conventions of the play were easy to determine and most of them are familiar conventions. They include:. They were: Representational theater; relatable characters; two act form; comedy; mythical characters allowed; set in the present; mirrors Chekov s characters and events from his plays. He is used by the playwright to promote the importance to family through his providing of companionship and emotional support firstly, to his mother and then to his sister. Sonia, by valuing appearances, contributes to the theme of vanity of appearances and it is made obvious through her appearance loving is foolish. She also has lots of arguments with her brother, touching on the Contentious relatives theme of Chekov s plays. Thirdly, Masha is another confidant of Vanya, helps communicate the appearance theme by doing what Sonia does in her heart and because she finances her sisters. Fourthly, Masha contributes to the Contentious relatives of Chekov s plays. By choosing a boyfriend that is immature, she promotes Chekov s theme of Mismatched lovers Fourthly, Spike serves as a protagonist who causes grief for, betrays, and tempts Masha to sell the house. He is a mismatched lover and promotes its theme. He also loves his appearance, so he contributes to the appearance theme. Cassandra is not a kind. In the novel Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts, five characters named Mason, Aries, Chickadee, Evans, and Michael try to survive in an apocalyptic world with optimism. An earthquake strikes each character s neighbourhood and many citizens die as a result. Although these five characters do not know each other and are situated in different locations in the beginning, they eventually encounter one another. Their main goal is to survive this obnoxious disaster. Each character goes through a different adventure optimistically, and perseveres despite the myriad of problems they face. A character named Chickadee, who Mason encounters, develops from being very dependant into a more independent and optimistic character. She has diabetes, so she cannot live without insulin. Since the earthquake was so destructive, there are no doctors left to treat her. Chickadee becomes pessimistic when she realizes she will inevitably die if she does not get treated. However, before Chickadee dies, she explains, There are different types of people in this world. There are people who accept what s in front of them unquestioningly... Then there are people like me. Optimists. They too live in the dark, in times like these, but dream of the light (219). Chickadee admits she is an optimist, and advises Mason to be optimistic as well. He also starts looking at the positive side of situations. Even when Chickadee dies, instead of mourning her death, Mason decides to fulfil her final wish: to go to Vancouver and feel the ocean for her. Furthermore, another main character, Michael, begins as ignorant and passive, but becomes more optimistic. When Evans tells Michael that he needs to find his daughter and wife, Michael volunteers to help. He reassures Evans, We ll get through this. We ll find your wife and child (85). This proves that Michael becomes a positive and diligent character, who is determined to help Evans find his family members during these egregious times. In addition, Aries also undergoes dramatic changes throughout the novel. For instance, she is a very scared and pessimistic character when she finds out that her friend, Sarah, has died. In the early 1880s, French citizens raised money to present to the United States Liberty Enlightening the World, the immense sculpture by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi . (Edwards 90.) Over the five year period, both consumers and businesses became more confident about their finances and spent freely on luxuries, including travel. This culminated in a substantial increase in travel rates and hotel room and occupancy rates, two indicators of a hotel s performance. Travel spending has also picked up quickly, especially in emerging economies where tourism is on the rise. Global tourist arrivals are expected to increase an annualized 4.8% over the five years to 2015 to reach 1.2 billion. The largest growth will likely be seen in Asia and the Pacific, helping emerging economies surpass developed economies as the favored destination for tourists by 2015. To keep up with the aggressive rise in travel rates in these regions, more hotels and resorts will be built, which should increase the proportion of industry revenue generated and drive industry revenue growth as a whole. Over the five years to 2020, revenue is projected to increase at an annualized rate of 3.4% to $978.7 billion. Millennials have shifted the focus from hotel loyalty to more novelty related experiences. The overarching experience that many of these hotels in the industry are shifting to is updated bars and lounges that spill into the lobby. Renovation will be on the upswing over the next few years as guests desire more technology, more stimulating social experiences, and better food and snack choices. • 9. The Old Man And The Library Proverbs are commonly used in Africa are signifiers that help identifies the characteristics and values of a certain culutre. They are usually simple but provide the reader or listener with an image that requires reflection for the individual and the society from which it originates. The African proverb, when an old man dies, it is as if a library has burned down illustrates the importance of wisdom, age, and experience. This proverb highlights the necessity from preserving historical knowledge and the devastation that comes with losing that knowledge. Libraries are symbols of education and information typically containing works of written history whereas the old man who is in juxtaposition with the library has preserved historical information in his memory, the library in his mind. By placing the old man and the library as equals, the African proverbs is stating the importance of human wisdom and the passing of history through the mouths of wise men to youthful ears. This proverb is reminiscent of the importance of oral history in many African cultures, one being the ancient Mali Empire. D.T. Niane s version of the Old Mali epic discusses the importance of the griot, or oral historians, and places the emphasis and priority on the griot, rather than the kings. The griots were the libraries and when they died, much of the information they possessed would die as well, unless it was passed on to another griot. • 14. The Ethics Of Business Management Essay Prior to my interview with Dr. Lisa Calvano, I did not have the impression that research was involved in any part of business management. After meeting with her, I learned exactly how important research is to the business management discipline. Research in business management is a systematic investigation that helps to answer complications and problems within businesses. Research in the field contributes to solid management understanding and knowledge. Information from research is usually produced by classical methods: statistical data and analysis, interview data, and survey data (i.e., stock prices). Researchers, especially in business management must be careful to declare their research findings as credible. Research in business management abides by ethical thinking. Researchers evaluate their data properly and need to recognize that specified data may be confidential. Most data that management researchers find is private and it is intended to be kept that way. When researchers question the ethics behind their research, they look to an Institutional Review Board (IRB) and occasionally The Code of Ethics . The IRB is a council that was instituted to review and authorize any and all research engaging humans. The purpose of the committee is to protect human subject research and to ensure it is regulated according to federal, institutional and ethical guidelines. When asked, a Milestone s server described the theme to be Classic urban fare with globally inspired twists in an elegant but casual setting. This theme is carried out through the use of dark woods and brass throughout the interior as well as several Asian inspired menu items. The Langley location of Milestone s has approximately 200 seats including a 50 seat patio and 20 lounge seats situated around the bar. Despite the smaller size Milestone s maintains an average wait of 20 minutes with maximum waits approaching 45 minutes. This is one significant advantage over Olive Garden. Another distinct difference between the two restaurants is that Milestone s only utilizes booth seating, as opposed to the approximately half and half mix of tables and booths at the Olive Garden. The increased number of booths allows for a much more private atmosphere, as it more effectively separates the individual parties from one another. The menu offered at Milestone s has an excellent selection of entrees as well offering breakfast items which Olive Garden does not. The Main Goal for a Pitcher Former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher Randy Johnson once said, Tiger Woods, Larry Bird, Wayne Gretzky, as a pitcher just before a game, I would imagine they all have nervous energy. But as you perform, the nervous energy dissipates and you start to relax and you start to do what you do best. Being a professional baseball pitcher is like a work of art, but no easy task. It s important that you have complete control of your emotions and mechanics to have modest success as a pitcher. There are successful pitchers like Cy Young who still hold the record for most wins in MLB history at 511, and guys like Nolan The Express Ryan who regularly threw pitches above 100 miles per hour. There are also pitchers such as Justin Verlander who are completely dominant and considered to be one of the best pitchers of our generation, and then you have your submarine pitchers like Chadwick Lee Chad Bradford who have unorthodox way to pitch the baseball. Although these guys display different mechanics before each pitch, they still share the basic five steps of pitching that explain the Biomechanical Analysis of the Baseball Pitch. These five steps include: the wind up, stride, arm cocking, arm acceleration, arm deceleration with follow through. Pitching in itself is a science and this paper will provide a thorough biomechanical analysis of the baseball pitch following all the six steps. • 25. Prostitution In The Philippines Prostitution is one of the oldest professions that have widely been practiced around the world, and the Philippines is no exception to this. With the advent of Spanish colonists in the late 1500s, Filipina slaves were sold as exotic sex objects or prostitutes to European brothels. During the early 1940s, many Filipinas in Manila and surrounding towns served as comfort girls to provide sexual favors to Japanese soldiers of the Japanese Imperial Army serving in the country and in the Pacific region. Today, with the emergence of information technology and global travel, the age old profession has begun to operate on a technological scale, and sex workers, mostly young girls, have moved not only to the big cities but also online. To be specific, a new form of prostitution among Filipina schoolgirls, called Prosti tuition, has surfaced recently in the country. Prosti tuition, as the name suggests, is a term used among student sex workers to refer to the use of prostitution as a means of earning money to send themselves to school. Sometimes called survival sex, it is sex work that pays for these students tuition fees, school supplies, allowance, cellphone load, and the like. Typically, the peak season for this tuition payment scheme is during enrollment period or right before final/periodic exams (Santos, 2014). Compared to traditional prostitution, what is interesting about prosti tuition is that the personal services providers (PSPs) or walkers mostly rely on smartphones ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was only about one hour before I would be home, so I grabbed a bottle of water, just thinking that I was dehydrated and tired from the long day and dismissed the head pain as a temporary discomfort. Listening to music on the radio on my car ride home would be a good distraction for the remainder of the trip. One of my favourite alt rock bands, The Kings of Leon had just released a new single called Temple. It was a catchy tune so I turned up the volume, and if you are familiar with this musical group at all it usually takes a few listens to begin to navigate the searing vocals and sing along with the lively lyrics. The chorus was immediately infectious and since I was alone in my personal travelling concert hall I bellowed along loudly; I d take one in the temple, I d take one for you. I d take one in the temple (temple), I d take one for you. Humming my way through the verses and then boom, the chorus kicks in and off I go again; ...take one in the temple... , and before I could complete the last refrain, it felt like I just took a knife literally into the right side of my head. The music went off. The gas pedal went down. The head ache went from zero to sixty in 1.2 seconds. My mind began to play games with me, fear can do that, pain can do that too, and I began to wonder about the lyrical portend. Was it just a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Problem Of Illegal Immigrants Donald Trump wrongly says the number of illegal immigrants is 30 million or higher Donald Trump made several claims recently that the population of illegal immigrants in the U.S. has risen to thirty million or more. He claimed that the government had no grasp on the population of illegal immigrants, and that he s seen those estimates in several papers and other sources. The Department of Homeland Security disagreed, saying that their calculations of illegal immigrants took a lot of factors into account. Even with a plus or minus one million margin, there was no way possible for the number of illegal immigrants to have tripled without them knowing. Several other major research organizations agreed, saying they also came up with estimates very close to the eleven million estimate given. No one is really sure where exactly Trump got these outrageous and wildly inaccurate claims, but they are almost certain that he is incorrect. I think Trump will always be a racist figurehead, constantly spewing misinformation because he knows the general public will eat it up. • 29. Casti Connubai On Christian Marriage 1. Christ dignified chaste wedlock before the coming of Christ by establishing it as a form of companionship between two people who will come together to have children. He designed this union to be the foundation of society. Christ further dignified wedlock by taking the Church as His bride. 2. In Casti Connubii on Christian Marriage, Pope Pius XI lists two things men must do to obtain the fruits of the sacrament of matrimony. The first is to be enlightened and fully understand Christ s true doctrine regarding matrimony itself. The second is to still remain pure in their thoughts and actions in order to obtain true peace and happiness for themselves and for their families . 3. a. The Pope sees a need to speak about the sanctity of marriage at this time because he saw that the people of his day were beginning to forget the importance of a holy marriage. It especially applies today with the leniency of how human intimacy is treated. Knowing this, the Pope spoke of it to remind people the importance of a Holy Christian marriage. b. We know the Pope is teaching infallibly here because he is re explaining a teaching already in practice. He doesn t add anything to the core of the teaching, which is to avoid temptation in the context of human intimacy, by shows specifically the temptations presented at that time in which the faithful should avoid. We can further confirm that the Pope speaks infallibly because all teachings of the Pope come from God, and there cannot be a fallible teaching from God Himself. 5. a. The point of Arcanum Divinae , as explained by Pope Pius XI, was to concentrate of matrimony as a divine institution and it s sacramental and perpetual stability. He used this Encyclical specifically as a reference and foundation for his own Encyclical. The only difference being that Arcanum Divinae speaks of the spiritual aspects of the sacrament while the Casti Connubii speaks of both the sacramental and the earthly systems and their effect on the lives of men. b. Man cannot change the laws that strengthen marriage because such laws were not created by man. It is a fundamental doctrine that the institution of matrimony and its laws were written by God. Research shows that about 60 million metric tons of food is wasted a year in the United States, with an estimated value of $162 billion. About 32 million tons of it end up in landfills, at a cost of about $1.5 billion a year to local government this economic crisis is worldwide! My research estimates that a third of all the food produced in the world is never consumed, and the total cost of that food waste could be as high as $400 billion a year. The food discarded by retailers and consumers in the most developed countries would be more than enough to feed all of the world s hungry people, but it is not just those countries that have problems with food waste, it is also an issue in African countries like South Africa. The problem is expected to grow worse as the world s population increases, unless actions are taken to reduce the waste. Food waste is not only a social cost, but it contributes to growing environmental problems like global warming, experts say, with the production of food consuming vast quantities of water, fertilizer and land. Court musicians and dancers collaborated to make flowy dances. These were just the roots, if you were to watch a tape of this early form of ballet (which you can t) you would notice that it looks absolutely nothing like anything that you see today. Every ballet of the time was not choreographed and often had the audience partake in the festivities. As the 15th century went on Ballet evolved into choreographed steps and the dance was more often being used at aristocrats weddings and anniversaries. One of the most famous choreographers and dancers of the time was a man by the name of Domenico da Piacenza, he with his students created some of the first recognizable ballet numbers. There were others after him who had similar roles in the development and evolution of Ballet. The dance had then moved with the Aristocrats of the time to France where another big stage of evolution occurred. As it moved to France it made a jump from wedding performances to large theatre shows. The king at the time; Louis the 14th developed a true passion towards the art and set aside ministers and other officials solely in charge of Ballet. Many Italian choreographers had traveled to France to follow their passion and had trouble mixing in with the French appointed choreographers and dancers. At the time many of the Italian choreographer s shows would not sell well and the dancers would often go on strike. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Essay On Steaks Hey Wes, did you remember to get some more dropcloth and paints? Wes groaned, knowing that if he admitted to forgetting the supplies he would ve disappointed Tina, his wife. Well, it s not as if I forgot, rather, I was... distracted? Yeah! EMT s were called to the store to resuscitate a rat that had a heart attack. It was no ordinary rat, actually; it was an emotional support rat. Tragic, really. Wes said rather unconvincingly. Tina chuckled, amused by Wes s clumsy attempt to cover himself. Yes, and I m sure that Ratatouille was there too, making soup. Tina paused, looked at Wes s embarrassed face, and let him off the hook. Look, it s fine. We could always get them later. He could feel the stares as he walked along the street, the hairs on his neck standing straight. Slowly, Wes accepted his new reality, and eventually came to the conclusion that he could still do what he loved, but that he had to work harder than before. Wes asked his wife to bring him the paints and a canvas, while he sat with an oil paintbrush in his hand that he had chosen by feeling the bristles along the tip. Tina, who was hoping for this day to come, had already set the paints in a specific order; with the primary colors first, and secondary colors next, from light to dark. She took his hand and led him, having him touch the braille on the lid of the paints and to try to match the names of colors with the bumps. An hour had passed and, frustrated, Wes flung himself into a chair and wept. I... I just can t do it. All the time I had spent perfecting my skills and techniques... and now I have to start all over again? And even worse, I can never see you again... Your curly blonde hair, the way your nose slightly crinkled when you laughed, the dimples on your face when you smiled... Wes sniffled, burying his face in his hands, a tear running down his rough face. Tina bent down, and interlocked her fingers with his. No matter what happens, Wes, I will never give up on you. I believe that you can do whatever you put your mind to. Do you remember when we first met? Wes thought about it for a moment, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Learned from years of successes and failures, the agile philosophy centers on software development with an importance with self organization, motivation, in addition to daily team interaction. It means being able to present working software instead of slides and documentation. Agile encourages customer collaboration throughout the entire process to allow developers to respond to change in a timely manner. The agile development process can be implemented by different developmental processes and is comprised of several key principles. With personal experience of the outcome of correct agile implementation; agile can have the opposite effect without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each increment includes a planning phase where high level requirements are defined. These requirements are bundled into delivery cycles and at the end of each delivery cycle a working functionality is delivered to the customer. Iterative life cycles are scalable and can be used for large or small projects. They are also useful when projects have predefined schedule constraints. Other types of life cycles are sequential life cycles and prototyping life cycles. Sequential life cycles include models such as the Pure Waterfall Method, differ from agile because the product is not delivered until the end of the project. The waterfall method however, implements phases such as the agile method but, these phases produce documentation not working deliverables to the customer. The waterfall method works well for projects with customers that know what they want and are fully committed to the project. Prototype life cycle models are particularly unique. A prototype life cycle model, such as the rapid prototyping model, is commonly utilized as a visual tool than an entire standalone process. Rapid prototyping is designed to model a piece of software and product with limited functionality. The rapid prototyping model is usually incorporated into the waterfall method during the concept definition phase to provide a visual aid to the customers, since no working ... • 47. The Education System Of Ethiopia Pastoralist Education in Ethiopia Currently: For several years, donors have been implementing Alternative Basic Education Center s in Ethiopia as a way to supplement the formal primary education system in the country. Currently the country faces a number of challenges in regards to their formal primary school system including lack of infrastructure, lack of teachers and economical constraints. Many regions in Ethiopia are hard to reach and the provision of formal education is lacking. To supplement this lack of formal primary schools, donors, together with governments have implemented Alternative Basic Education Center s. These centers are set up differently than formal school as it covers the curriculum of lower primary school, which is traditionally 4 years, and fits it all into 3 years. Upon completion of these 3 years, it is expected that students will be prepared to move into upper primary school (grades 5 8). This set up alleviates the problem of a lack of primary schools, and by completing the curriculum in 3 years, it allows those children who started late to catch up. (CARE Interview) Save the Children Denmark s Alternative Basic Education Project was implemented in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. While this is not a pastoralist region, it provided Save the Children and the Ethiopian government many insights to non formal education models and many organizations began implementing Alternative Basic Education Center s in the Afar and Somali regions following this ... • 48. The Happiness Advantage Everyone s ideal world contains no problems. The dream life is full of happiness because you have the perfect job, an abundance of money to afford the best of things, and a magic wand to wave and solve any issue that comes your way. This would be considered in today s society a person who is very successful, and most of all, happy. This may not always be true. In Shawn Achor s book, The Happiness Advantage, he describes happiness as a feeling that everyone should have regardless of the situation they are in or the problems they are dealing with. He discusses that happiness is the precursor to success, and not to be confused with the opposing view. The 3 main theories that Achor believes will give the greatest happiness advantage is The Zorro Circle, The Fulcrum and the Lever, and the Social Investment. Achor suggests that happiness comes before success because happiness will give you a better outlook, and success may not always intend that happiness is to follow. Our most positive emotions include hope, love, pride and joy. Each of these emotions are different according to the person experiencing them. All of them relate to happiness, which can help us to be in a better mood in the future as well as in the present (Achor, p.40). Happiness should be our main focus in everything we do. When we set up a smarter and more motivated mindset, we then start to focus on our own happiness and allow success to grow from that feeling. Happiness should be the first thing we think about ...
