Graffiti Is A Beautiful Crime Linda Ngo Summary
A Rhetorical Reading Response: Graffiti is a Beautiful Crime Linda Ngo, author of the opinion
piece Graffiti is a Beautiful Crime (2017), argues that graffiti should be legalized on grounds that
it is an artistic expression of free speech. Ngo uses many comparisons between graffiti, which she
claims is harmless, to many legal activities that cause people harm. Her purpose in writing this
paper is to establish a legal form of graffitito protect graffiti artists from legal action. Ngo s target
audience for this paper is peers who may have different views on graffiti and its purpose. This
paper contained many flawed arguments that frustrated me. The question How could beautiful
quotes and images destroy boring plain walls? (Ngo 198) has a simple... Show more content on

If the person wants the graffiti on their building, it is not vandalism and is already legal. Ngo also
compares alcohol and tobacco use to graffiti. This is a weak argument because a person chooses to
consume the substances and suffer their own personal consequences. A graffiti artist chooses
another person s property and inflicts damage to it. Freedom of speech is a protected right we
have as Americans, but it does not and should not extend to protect vandalism. Linda Ngo creates
her arguments primarily from two methods. Her first two arguments are made in the form of
syllogism. For example, Ngo states Freedom of speech and expression is a natural right that we
assimilated when we were born (196), and This right gives people the opportunity to speak their
mind whether it s directly using your mouth or using indirect methods through poetry, music, and
visual arts (196). Since graffiti would be a visual art, the argument is; if freedom of speech legally
protects art, and graffiti is art, then graffiti should be legally protected. Another example of this is
when she defines vandalism as Action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to

Music Appreciation Essay
This was the day I had been dreading. I was participating in the Seattle Young Artists Music
Festival, an event where students share their music with a small class and receive a lesson from
the teacher. My violin teacher and my parents decided that this event would develop my musical
skills, so they registered me with enthusiasm. I, on the other hand, was not so enthusiastic. I had
never honestly enjoyed performing in the past and I was especially nervous about this event
knowing that I would receive a musiclesson from an expert violinist after my performance. It did
not help to hear stories of strict, criticizing, and rude teachers from my siblings who had
previously done this event either. I wondered how any good could come from this event.
Though only flippantly, I even considered what would happen if I pretended to be ill or purposely
injured my finger. However, before I knew it, the dreadful day arrived and I realized I would just
have to go for it.
I woke up before the sun and groggily prepared to leave. My Mom and my two siblings, Amy and
Aaron, got ready to leave too since Aaron was also performing and Mom and Amy would be
accompanying both of us on the piano. While it was still dark, we boarded a ferry headed for
Seattle as I tried not to think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trembling, I began my first piece, Romance in G by Beethoven, and she quickly began to jot

everyone gave a loud applause. She proceeded to give me encouraging feedback as well as ways
I could improve my technique. Surprisingly, the lesson seemed to pass quickly and when it had
ended, I received a sheet of paper with my teacher s written comments and signature. At the
bottom of the paper, I noted my teacher s signature, Mimi Zweig, but did not think much of it.
Breathing a sigh of relief, I went back to my seat. That was not as bad as I expected, I thought to

Spring Hill Community Farm Is A Family Run Organic...
Fieldwork Paper Spring Hill Community Farm is a family run organic vegetable farm that
caters to the Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN area. Members purchase a share and pick it up once
a week or once every other week depending on what they decide their household needs. Members
can also choose to split a share with another member. Spring Hill Community Farm has been
owned and run by my parents, Mike Racette and Patty Wright, for 25 years. I ve often been told
that my sister and I take after my dad and his side of the family. As I ve gotten older I ve noticed it
even more, not just in appearance, but in personality as well. Mike Racette is a very smart and
thoughtful man. He s always eager to meet new people and share stories. My favorite example of
this trait is the time we went to the Minnesota State Fair and took a rideshare bus to the fair
grounds. On the short bus ride we were split up and he sat by an older woman. They got talking
and by the end of the bus ride, he knew all about her and her family, and she even gave him an
extra ticket to the fair that she had with her! While he is very personable, Mike can also be
described as someone who highly values time alone and privacy. Mike is a typical goofy,
embarrassing dad. After the interview, I realized I had forgotten to ask if he would be prefer to
go by Mike or Michael in the paper so I texted him and he replied with the lord..haha. Mike has a
great sense of humor that helps him to connect with people and make them

An Exploration of Gothic Horror Stories Essay
An Exploration of Gothic Horror Stories Gothic horror is a type of romantic, horror fiction based
on irrational fear that predominated in 18th century England. The term gothic originated from the
architectural style of the middle ages, but came to describe the dark, terrifying tales that achieved
such popularity. Gothic horror can be determined by many things which exist in all gothic horror
stories, for example eerie settings such as gothic monasteries, bleak comfortless castles, grave
yards and cobwebbed rooms lit by guttering candles. It can also be determined by a unique
character such as a beast, monster, ghost, evil creature and innocent person. Usually the innocent
person is killed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All three stories were written in the 19th century. They were all set at the same time when they
were written. This is a good effect because at the time when they were written, horror stories
containing superstition and the macabre were popular because the people at that time believed
in witchcraft, ghosts and demons. The location of the action is of great importance in the gothic
novel because it creates an atmosphere and feeling to the story. The Judges House is located in
the dining room of an old, quiet and isolated house. An old, rambling, heavy built house, this
creates a scary atmosphere thus matching the typical setting of a gothic horror story. It goes on
to describe the dining room as a, room in darkness, this also creates a scary and terrifying
atmosphere because you cant see in the dark and you don t know what s in the dark, this also is
an essential gothic horror element because darkness creates a creepy and scary atmosphere. The
Tell Tale Heart is located in a house that is probably old as a lantern is used by the narrator, this
creates a scary atmosphere like the Judges House because you cant see in the dark and you don t
know what is in the darkness so the reader imagines things that create the scary atmosphere,

Cross Gender Dressing
Society plays a role in prescribing appropriate and inappropriate behavior. How a man and a
woman are supposed to dress are unwritten codes of behavior that most people tend to follow.
Cross dressers represent a group that is defiant of established norms as they opt to dress in ways
contrary to their genderassignment. Further controversy surrounds the issue of cross dressing
particularly because there is little consensus on its definition. There is also debate on the
distinction, if any, that exists between transvestism and other similar behaviors performed by men.
There are similarities in some of the behaviors performed by these separate groups. Research has
yet to determine the causes of cross dressing linking it to home, parental,... Show more content on

Most of the time, the feelings experienced were those of comfort and security. A Very extensive
documentation exists to show that cross dressing often begins in early boyhood and persist into the
adolescent years for the majority of adult transsexuals and transvestites (qtd. in Docter 55).
Government is another forum where the role of power is rampant, specifically in legislating laws
to control, restrict, and punish behaviors deemed deviant by society. The power of legislation is
conveyed many times in this statement regarding the matter of biology in homosexuality. If
homosexuality were found to be an immutable trait, like skin color, then laws criminalizing
homosexual sex might be overturned. Same sex marriage, job protection, anti discrimination in
housing laws all these could hinge on the redefinition of homosexuality as biologically caused
rather than socially and culturally chosen (Garber, p. 225). This statement brings up several ways
of exerting control over deviant behavior (linked to a particular group of people): by making the
behavior a punishable, criminal act; by discrimination through laws; by not granting protection of
rights; and by prohibiting the recognition of same sex marriage (as if by not recognizing it, it isn t
really there).
The reinforcement of gender roles and boundaries through societal constructs is shown in
Woodhouse s discussion of transvestites

1. Our brains are constantly developing and with technology developing almost just as rapidly,
we should be cautious of the amount of time we spend tuned in to our devices. 2. Technology is
the culprit of a new wave of mental disorders that are developed after birth. Dr. Larry D. Rosen is
a professor emeritus and is a former chair of the Department of Psychology at California State
University in Dominguez Hills, California and is also an internationally acclaimed expert on
how technology affects the mind. Dr. Rosen lists that symptoms of an iDisorder are changes in
the way our brains process information and our abilities to connect to our environment. C. Lastly,
technology has a profound effect on our senses. 1. Dr. O.D. Sikes, professional optometrist and
chairman of the North Carolina State Optometric Society Para Optometric Education Committee,
states that twenty eight percent of people spend ten or more hours a day in front of a digital
device and that this amount of exposure can lead to digital eye strain. 2. Technology s connection

Sickle Cell Disease Paper
This mutation paper is to give information on the Sickle Cell disease. This is a negative disease
to have because the Sickle Cell Disease decreases the health of the person that has the disease and
limits what they can and cannot do. Sickle Cell Disease is a red blood cell disease that causes ab
normal hemoglobinto from in the veins. Hemoglobin is the protein that carries oxygen throughout
the body to help with the respiratory system. The cause of the genetic mutation is inheritance or
getting the disease from the parents the disease is found on chromosome 13 while the hemoglobin
is still in beta phase on gene HB A. The disease typically shows symptoms within the first 5 to 6
months of birth and being diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease. The symptoms include painful
swelling on the hands and feet, and Jaundice, which causes a white color to form under the eyes,
and turns the skin color yellow.
To test for the diagnosis, you must get the testing done when you are first born or a person can
get the disease when you are older so people may want to do a test every 10 years. The testing is
done with a blood test they prick your finger to draw some blood and put the blood sample under a

The person diagnosed with the disease will have to get lots and lots of sleep because they get
very tired easily. Also, you must be careful around fluctuating temperatures because it can also
increase the amount of Sickle cells to increase. The likely chance of getting the disease is less
than 200,000. In conclusion, the Sickle Cell Disease is a negative one to have even though there
are not many people who have the disease. Still for the people who have the disease it is negative
because the disease limits what they can do and shortens their chance of survival. This is the side
of the argument that argues that. The Sickle Cell Disease is a terrible one to

Western Dialysis
Executive Summary Western Dialysis Clinic is an independent, non profit full service rental
dialysis clinic. The clinic currently provides two types of treatments, which include Hemodialysis
(HD) and Peritoneal (PD). The existing system used by Western Dialysis Clinic is the traditional
ratio of cost to charges (RCC) method. Under this system the traceable supply costs are assigned
directly to the two types of treatment. And also currently both the treatments seem profitable. Due
to this David Thomas, the controller of Western Dialysis has recognized two major issues: First, the
procedure currently being used to assign common expenses may not be correctly presenting the

As it can be seen this traditional system shows both the procedures to be profitable for the clinic.
But there were several concerns regarding this procedure as projected by the controller of the
clinic, since the traditional system may not be assigning the common expenses to accurately
represent the underlying use of the common resources used by HD and PD. Therefore there is a
need shown by the controller to explore the activity based costing system to understand the costs
netter, which can more accurately calculate the profitability of the two procedures in order to
assist the managers to make more informed decisions. This has been performed in the following
breakdown where the general overhead category, nursing services and equipment costs have been
the focus of the analysis, to obtain a better understanding of the costs at Western Dialysis Clinic.
Phase I General Overhead Category The initial analysis consists of focusing on the general
overhead category. For the nursing and the equipment costs, the allocation is 85% towards HD
and 15% towards PD based on staff s experience rather than using the traditional RCC method.
(For detailed analysis please refer to exhibit 3). In this phase the General Overhead category is
divided into four resource cost pools. The four cost pools consist of facility costs, administration
and support staff, communications systems and

French Republican Calendar Dbq

During the French Revolution the National Convention started defacing the French Catholic
Church with the goal to decrease its influence and power. In this effort in doing so, the National
Convention made a new calendar to replace the Gregorian calendar in which they implemented
their own ideas and changed the days, months, and holidays. The French Republican calendar
lasted for 12 years and much opinions and reactions were formed during, and after its creation.

it would only create, not only a division between the Catholic Church, but their country neighbors

How Did The Light Bulb Affect Society
The incandescent light bulb was a phenomenal discovery that occurred during the late 1800 s and
was mainly invented by a man named Thomas Edison. It became a recent essential product that we

The first reason for this is because after the invention of the light bulb helped people sell the
incandescent light bulbs and earn money from it ( Incandescent Light Bulb. ). During that time,
the incandescent light bulb was very expensive to buy since it was a very new invention and
idea to many people. But later on, they adjusted the prices so that people in the middle class
could buy it as well. This helped the economy since more work could be done because people
who worked in factories produced more goods, therefore, there was more to sell ( Lighting A
Revolution: 19th Century Consequences. ). As well as that, an electric industry was produced
and more people were spending money on electricity to power their homes. The electric light
bulb also brought new ways of leisure such as film projections. The incandescent light bulb also
lead to other inventions such as the microwave oven, televisions, microscopes and cameras and
those are only a few of the inventions that came out of the incandescent light bulb ( Light Bulb
History Invention of the Light Bulb. ). In the end, the incandescent light bulb caused a huge
economical boom from when it was created since it was at a high demand of electricity and
required a lot of money, as well as that, it helped people to be able to work for longer periods of
time, therefore enabling them to produce more goods than usual

The Battle of Waterloo and its Effect on Today s Artillery
Napoleon Bonaparte, one of the world s greatest military strategists, led the French at the Battle of
Waterloo. During his time as a General, even in defeat, his tactics in the way he used artillery were
beyond reproach. His successes and errors made throughout the Battle of Waterloo had a direct
effect on how we use artillery today.

As the battle went on, the Prussian Army was fast approaching. When Napoleon received word of
the impending Prussian arrival, he decided to send 20,000 troops, to his left flank, to intercept the
Prussians. Although, this was a sensible approach, it severely weakened the main attack. The
French finally push through and took La Haye Sainte (the estate in the center of the Battlefield)
but, this would end up being a small victory in a battle that would have an inevitable outcome. The
British retreated their men, behind the ridge, in an attempt to hide them from the French
viewpoint. The French, thinking they had the British on their heels, sent their elite soldiers (Old
Guard) up the middle of the battlefield and over the ridge. Unknowingly to the French, Duke
Wellington hatched a plan to hide some of his troops. As the Old Guard begins its assault, of the
British center line, they are surprised by British troops lying in wait, on their flanks, in the high
corn fields. The Old Guard is routed by three horse batteries attacking their flanks. With the
Prussian Army destroying the left flank of the French Army, Wellington sounds the general charge.
The charge is successful in pushing back the French lines. Napoleon regroups his Old Guard and
orders them to attack. By this time, the Old Guard is down to under 200 men. Once again,

The Heart Of Evil In Shakespeare s King Lear
Shakespeare s King Lear
In The Tragedy of King Lear, Shakespeare depicts a knot of characters, each of whom is intent
on achieving his or her aims by any means necessary. The main protagonist King Lear is at the
heart of evil in the play, as David Beauregard asserts (204). Lear irresponsibly divides his kingdom,
gives it away to emerging chaos, and behaves as a tyrant throughout the play. In Lear, Shakespeare
creates a complex character, which deserves the misfortunes that he brings upon himself. However,
Edmond, the illegitimate son of the Earl of Gloucester, is an outright villain. His misdeeds are the
cunningly planned crimes, unlike Lear s impertinent mistreatment of the people. Beauregard further
defines the injustice described in King Lear as the result of human evil (217). This play s tragedy
is not in Lear s pitiful position, but in the malign state of mind of people who manipulate others,
as Lear and Edmond. In the first scene of the play, Gloucester introduces Edmond to the Earl of
Kent as his favorite son (1.1.15 16). Still, Edmond is not content with his father s love and
recognition. Meredith Skura describes Edmond as this play s villain who maims and murders,
defies religion and family bonds (127). Edmond openly claims that he wants his legitimate brother
s property and status (1.2.15 18). This villain constructs a plot to slander his brother Edgar in front
of his father to gain Edgar lands and status.

The Effects Of Climate Change On Ecosystems
Introduction One of the most important environmental influences on ecosystems is climate.
Greenhouse gas pollution is acquiring heat in the atmosphere and inordinately raising global
temperatures. Colorado, for example, has warming predictions of 2.5 degrees Fahrenheit by 2025
and up to 4 degrees by 2050. The impact of climatechange can and will affect ecosystems in
numerous forms. Such an impact is that warming of the climate will compel a variety of species to
shift to higher elevations in order to find a temperaturethat more closely relates to the species
survival. This migration can also be related to warming causing tree lines to rise several hundred
feet per degree Fahrenheitthat temperature rises thus removing habitat for many species.
Warming will also cause a flux in precipitation and snowpack which can lead to wetland areas
and stream temperatures to rise and alter habitats of cold water fish. Climate change also
directly affects sea levels as melting of polar caps are causing them to rise. This can cause salt
water to intrude upon freshwater ecosystems and these species may not be able to adapt and they
lose their habitats and must advance elsewhere or perish. This shock can also cause different
predatory and prey species to leave which drastically alters the food chain and causing critters to
starve or migrate to different areas where they may not be able to adapt and causing them to

people be required to work on the plantations, the Black Codes declared that those who failed to

it was a totally failure of what freedom was supposed to be. Another important characteristic of the

Identity, And Social Identity
Social Identity Biography While thinking about who I am , I came across many different
aspects: Gender, ethnicity, religion, race, and much more. On September 11th 1996, I was born
a female (sex) to a middle aged single mother, Betty Scarborough, at U.T. Medical Center. To this
day, my gender remains a woman. Although there are many different races, I was born into this
world a Caucasian (White). When exploring the dating world, I would consider myself as a
heterosexual individual because I only have attractions to males. So, when I was born and in
todays time I would consider myself a female. When looking through my families ethnicity, I am
more Irish than Cherokee. However, I do have some German heritage through my father s side,
according to my mother. Also, when looking at my religion, I would consider my self as Christian.
My familywent to church every time the doors open, this results in why I attend church every
chance I can. I love being able to worship the Lord, and learn more about him. Also, some
religions believe differently than I do and that is totally okay. So, therefore, I have a lot of Irish in
me, and Christianity would be my religion. However, as a child, I would consider myself under the
lower middle classcategory because my mother was a singe parent of three children. She is an
Elementary school teacher, which they do not get paid much when raising three children on her
own. In today s time, I would say I am considered under the working class category because I
make enough to exceed a little over ends meet. Being in the working class is extremely difficult
because paying for bills can sometimes be difficult. So, therefore, as a child, I fell under the
lower middle class, but as a young adult, I unfortunately fall under the working class. During this
time, I would consider myself as a young adult who lives in the United States. There are many
reasons why I chose this category; I am between the ages of 18 to 30, which usually considers an
individual a young adult. Also, being a young adult is the start of having a little more freedom
than being a child. For example, at 18 you can are allowed to buy tobacco products and join the
Army, but when you become 21 of older you are allowed

Attention Deficit Disorder
Attention Deficit Disorder History In 1845, Dr. Hendrick Hoffman first person to describe
Attention Deficit Disorder. Dr. Hoffman was also a poet who wrote stories for his three year

had Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (What is ADHD). During the early 1900 s, Sir
George Still, a British pediatrician, published lectures to the Royal College of Physicians in
England (What is ADHD). He described the condition as an abnormal defect of moral control in
children and stated that it was caused by a genetic dysfunction (Holland). In 1980, the American

/HD (A.D.D or ADHD) is not one specific disorder because it comes with variations. It is now
divided into three subtypes, based off of the main features that are associated with the disorder:
impulsivity, hyperactivity, and inattentiveness (Attention Deficit Disorder). The subtypes of AD
/HD are the Predominantly Combined Type, Predominantly Inattentive Type, and Predominantly
Hyperactive Impulsive Type. The Predominantly Combined type of ADHD is the most common out
of the three. Individuals who have this type have symptoms from Predominantly Inattentive ADHD
and Predominantly Hyperactive Impulsive ADHD (Types of ADHD). Some symptoms include not
listening and being unable to follow or understand instructions, whether simple or easy.
Predominantly Inattentive ADHD has symptoms such not paying attention to detail, being
distracted or forgetful, and avoiding tasks that involve effort (Types of ADHD). In order to be
diagnosed with this type of ADHD, one must have at least six of the nine symptoms as well as a
few of the Hyperactive Impulsive Type of ADHD. The Hyperactive Impulsive type deals with
symptoms such as fidgeting, squirming, and speaking too much (Types of ADHD). Once again, to

Sexual Relations Between A Person And An Animal
Bestiality is defined as sexual relations between a person and an animal; : sodomy.
Having sex with animals was originally linked to people living in rural areas where they were
around livestock, and there may have been fewer women. In today s world it has become
something else, and that is, people who actually prefer to have sex with animals over human
beings. It has been reported that Bestiality involves roughly 8 percent of men, and 4 percent of
women .
In 1948, Wardell Pomeroy and Clyde Martin, Sexual Behavior in the Human Male (W. B.

the 1990 s bestiality has been considered an alternative sexual orientation, (cited by Miletski, 1999).
The population of bestiality compare themselves to the GLBT LBGTQ population, because they
feel they are subject to the same retributions as homosexuality. They feel they have the right to their
own sexual orientation, and hope to find an open minded ally in the gay rights movement to support
that, and become part of the bestiality rights movement .

Since professional misconduct is only defined as the breach of the Act or regulations, other than an
action that is solely a breach of the code of ethics , the code of ethics is not directly enforceable.
However acting in an unethical manner could potentially lead to a breach of professional
misconduct. This is particularly evident in the article s.77. 2. (i) which states: A practitioner shall,
regard his duty to public welfare as paramount This article is a clear reminder to practicing
engineers that their duty to public welfare takes precedence over serving employers or clients. It is
important that engineers are aware of their vast influence, and revere the responsibility they hold to

With the constant discovery of scientific principles and new engineering designs, the responsibility
often lies in the hands of engineers to decide what is in the best interest of the public. Millions

Throughout my career I have worked within settings that do not comply to a national curriculum as
there was none, and also within settings that did. It was in 1996 that the first UK curriculum was
introduced which was called Desirable Outcomes . Within the document were learning outcomes to
be achieved by all children by the age of five and being a centralised system, an inspection scheme
was also introduced. In this article Soler and Miller (2010) highlight how these changes were
perceived to be shaping the early childhood curriculum from the outside rather than from within the
early childhood community.
On the opposite side of the continuum, the Reggio Emilia approach is a programme that is centred
on the principles of respect, responsibility, and community. It is based on the interests of the
children through a self guided curriculum with no early learning goals or inspections.
The article then goes on to explain how in 1999 new curriculum guidance was introduced in the
UK which was entitled Early Learning Goals . It was later developed to bring in six learning areas
and stepping stones that led each child towards an early learning goal. Soler and Miller (2010)
research this statement further and write, that in structuring the curriculum and its assessment in
this manner, the policy makers have made assumptions about where the levels begin and end for all

Overview of the Healthy Food for Healthy School Act Essay
It was lunch time and students walked into the cafeteria to purchase lunch. A wide variety of
food was placed in front of them to choose from ranging from pizza to burgers to bags of chips
and chocolate bars. Their choices were endless up until a new reform took over and enlisted new
changes. The Healthy Food for Healthy SchoolAct was placed on September 1st, 2008. Its policy
entailed schools to practice healthy eating where they would be dropping trans fat from food and
beverages sold in schools and establishing mandatory nutritionstandards for food and beverages
sold in schools (Ontario Ministry of Education). While this reform plays a significant role in the

As stated in Food: How School Food Affects Student Health, where there is a lack of creativity and
motivation to cultivate a healthy and sustainable menu, fast food chains, junk food vendors, and
soda companies rush in to fill the void, offering partnerships with schools that allow them to market
their products in schools (2008). With the new reform in place, schools have been instructed to
follow new guidelines and nutrition programmes to meet the standards of a healthy school. This
required the removal of vending machine sodas, and the reconfiguration of the foods in all school
cafeterias. With this new reform in place, schools have seen various outcomes from this change.
Having the Healthy Food for Healthy School Act means that any links with corporations would
result in minimal interactions and weaken the links they have. This can be seen as both a positive
and negative development. The positive outlook on it is that students will benefit greatly from the
healthy act as they will be encouraged to eat healthy foods and take part in an active and healthy
lifestyle. The downside is that implementing the healthy school act means putting more money
towards this section as healthier foods cost more than non healthy foods. As expenses are taken out
from other accounts, an ongoing increase of educational inequalities continues. Schools have found
themselves caught between the need to promote healthy choices and the need for

The Mormon service I visited, had a few similarities but also a few distinct differences from the
Catholic service that I am used to. Before this particular Sunday, I had never attended a Mormon
service, nor had I spoken to anyone who believed in Mormonism or the Latter Day Saints. With
that being said, I was welcomed much more openly than I had originally thought. Before
entering, I was approached by two members of the church; two young women (sisters) between
the ages of roughly 19 to 22. I arrived about an hour before service, that way I could ask a few
people some questions, but the two girls beat me to the punch. They initially asked me if I had
visited before and I responded saying that it was my first time, and I was attending as a student
observer, with no intention of converting, but would love to learn about the faith. They nodded and
proceeded to explain to me the reasons as to why they believed so strongly, and also a bit of
background information on the faith. One of the girls, explained to me that there has been a lot of
skepticism about Mormonismdue in part to the fact that Joseph Smith Jr, was so young and how
his explanation of Moroni (An angel no one had ever heard of), and his entire religion and the
scripture used, Book of Mormon, could have just been a part of his imagination. The other girl told

The Negative Effects Of Rationalization In Food, Inc.
According to Weber, rationalization refers to the process by which modern society has increasingly
become concerned with efficiency, predictability, calculability, and control (Weber 2009). This
leads to behaviors that are guided by reason and practicality. In the film Food, Inc. (2008), the
owners of the meatcompanies wanted to produce their products in a rational manor. The film
portrays the side of the foodindustry that the companies do not want the consumers to see.
Although this rationalization may seem to be positive, there are many negative effects.
One example of food production in the film is the production of chickens. When interviewing the
owners of the chicken farms, they were extremely restricted on what they could say and show.
The farmers took out thousands of dollars in loans to be able to start their farms. The farmers do
not earn enough to pay off their loans, so they are in a constant debt. On top of this, the farmers
are required by the corporations to constantly update their equipment. If they do not update the
equipment, then they will lose their contracts. This further traps them in a cycle of debt and
dependence on the large corporations. If they do anything to go against the corporations, they can
easily lose their contract and be replaced. These chickens are raised in chicken coups where the
majority of them never see sunlight. They are given hormones to increase the size of the chicken in
less times. Scientist realized that most people prefer

A Serious Problem Of Testicular Cancer
A serious problem that exists among the Maori population in some areas of N.Z. is testicular
(teste) cancer. It affects young men from all backgrounds and there is little research on what risk
factors there are. The encyclopaedia Britannica online defines teste cancer as a disease
characterized by uncontrolled growth of cells within the testis, the reproductive organ that produces
sperm. Testicular cancerrepresents only 1 percent of all cancers in males, but it is the most
common malignancy for men between ages 15 and 35. 1 Whether or not teste cancer is the most
serious health problem among Maori arguable and additional health related problems should be
discussed. First of all, testicular cancer is one of the most crippling diseases creating significant
damage on patient and family. Additionally, the discrepancy between Maori and Pakeha diagnosis
of testicular cancer is a cause for concern. Contrariwise a lack of knowledge on the difference
between Maori and Pakeha psychology and the way Psychologist/Psychiatrist deal with Maori
patients. Finally, there is general reluctance for Maori to seek mental healthwhich leads to
difference between diagnosis and treatment.
Firstly, the mental and physical anguish that surrounds testicular cancer is so significant because
it is the most common cancer affecting men between the ages of 15 and 39, but it is not limited to
this age range. However, young men typically do not get a lot of cancer, so overall testicular cancer

Compound Bow History
Archery has been around for the majority of documented human history and has gradually changed
over the centuries. However, in the recent years a new type of bow has been created, the compound
bow. The introduction of the compound bow revolutionized the archery system, allowing for faster
and stronger shooting as well as increased range, all allowing for hunters to better hit their targets.
Before the compound bow, there were wooden bows and the most common one used for hunting
was the Longbow. These bows were about 72 inches in length and could be made out of various
types of wood to give it different properties. It could usually be pulled back around 30 inches and
it had a poundage of 150, which means it is very difficult to shoot. In the article Medieval versus

This was a problem because archers had to be able to aim and release their arrows quickly which
meant it was hard to get good accuracy and consistency while shooting unless there was repeated
practice. That was when in the 1960s Holless W. Allen created the first compound bow. The
compound bow has a leveling system that uses cables and pulleys to bend the limbs, these
pulleys and cables were [called cams] placed on both sides of the bow, (Facts About). This
system allows for more energy to be stored in the limbs, this also allows for the arrow to be shot
faster than with other types of bows. The cams on the bow also allow for less recoil and vibrations
in the bow limbs which increases the accuracy of the archer. Compound bows are smaller and

But after Athens lost her empire by losing the Peloponnesian War and had undergone two
oligarchic reigns of terror at the hands of the gilded, Socratified rich kids, her patience with
Socrates ended. Socrates was charged in 399 B.C. with quot;impiety against the gods of the city
quot; and with quot;corrupting the young. quot; He was guilty on all counts. Socrates basic
premise of government according to Xenophon s quot;Memorabilia quot; was quot;that it is the
business of the ruler to give orders and of the ruled to obey. quot; So the ruler should have total,
unaccounted power. The second charge against Socrates, that he had corrupted the youth of
Athens, was even more damning. The foremost examples of the gilded youth he led astray was
Alcibiades and Critias, although Socrates effect on the rich young aristocratic fops was already
mentioned in Aristophanes quot; The Birds, quot; written in 414 B.C., fifteen years before he was
called to account: Why, till ye built this city in the air, _____ line 1280 All men had gone
Laconian mad; they went __ [Spartan mad] Long haired, half starved, unwashed, Socratified, With
scytales in their hands; but Oh the change! They are all bird mad now, and imitate ____ line 1284
Alcibiades was Socrates favorite pupil. Socrates saved his life on a battlefield. But the lesson
Alcibiades learned from Socrates was that the rulers have no duty to their country; that their

They take about 20 minutes, and there are seven of them to try. There are 2 difficulties, normal,
and nightfall. The way they mainly work, you and two other players hunt down and kill a high
value target, and loot the chest he drops. They re insanely fun, and give you decent rewards. But,
perhaps the best part about Destiny are the raids. Perhaps the most challenging activity known to
man, raids can take anywhere from 1 7 hours, require 6 players, and require your utmost
concentration and focus. They have multiple bosses, puzzles and hidden chests that give you the
best in game rewards. Overall, Destiny 2 has stunning graphics, highly customizable characters,
tons of content, and that sense of nostalgia that kicks in when you fly your spaceship from place
to place. While my character will make you gag in disgust, and the online servers questionable
at times, the game is amazing in its own sense. That is why I d rate the game a 10/10. While the
game has its own problems, like other games. You ll never find a perfect game, but this is as close

Holden Caulfield And Its Effects On Society
After a heated argument, rough day, or traumatizing event, many of us say we would rather be
left alone. When something negative happens to any of us we tend to isolate ourselves, leaving
ourselves to our thoughts for a while before blending back into society. This isolation is good for
a while, it allows us to clear our heads and think things through before going back into a normal
routine. Prolonged isolation however, has been proven to be potentially dangerous. Holden
Caulfield isolates himself from the phoniness of the world, thinking highly of himself and
somehow believes he is different from everyone else he s ever met. Holden s way of putting
himself on a pedestal harms his social prowess, and isolates him to the point of loneliness. He
longs for social contact and in many situations makes a strong effort in order to get to know
somebody. After 5 minutes of conversation however, Holden proves to us his social impairment.
Holden Caulfield is an example of a person who does not fit into normal social interactions, yet
some of his personality exists in all of us.

Social Network And Its Effects On The Media
Facebook Uncovered
Facebook has always strived on the belief that this social network is where users connect with
not just friends but with the expansive world around them. Recently in the last several years,
some Facebook users have been expose to a world that they were not prepared or intend to see.
Gory visuals of a sinister and graphic nature that document this reality of debauchery has
become viral on some user s news feed. Images and videos of dead bodies, bloody car accidents,
mutilations and animal cruelty are a fragment of what users were exposed to during the
November 2011 gore porn link spam attack (Sarachik 2011). Facebook was able to close the
exploit with the help of Facebook s own technician after being informed of the problem. Still
images and videos depicting real life blood and gore still finds their way on Facebook, where
they can potentially be seen by hundreds of millions of users. Shortly after images of the
execution of James Foley by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) appeared online on
Facebook, a safety advisor for the company calls for the implementation of safety measures that
would prevent users from accidentally accessing the images (Kelion 2014). In recent years
Facebook have been increasingly used by some users on the social network to post graphic content
and obscene pornographic material and the reason for this is because the social network is not
effectively regulating and monitoring the content. The reasons for why Facebook needs

Essay about Ionic Reactions
Ionic Reactions
Abstract
This experiment is designed to study the nature of ionic reactions, and write net ionic equations for
precipitation reactions, as well as to identify spectator ions, perception reactions and solubility of
different compounds.
Experiment and Observations
In this experiment I was using a 96 well plate to add two drops of the following solutions into
seven wells in rows A through E: cobalt (II) nitrate, copper (II) nitrate, iron (III) nitrate, barium
nitrate, and nickel (II) nitrate. Afterward, two drops of each of sodium phosphate, sodium iodide,
sodium sulfate, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate and sodium hydroxide
were added to the five vertical wells under columns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was expected because the solubility rules stated that these were all insoluble substances. I
was careful to add exactly two drops of each into each well, as to keep my experimental error to a
minimum.
Questions:
A. Compare your results with the solubility rules and/or solubility table in your chemistry text.
B. Do your results agree with your expectations from the solubility rules/table? Yes, my results did
agree with my expectations from the basic solubility rules.
C. Which anions generally form precipitates? What are exceptions? Most hydroxides, sulfides,
carbonates and phosphates form precipitates. Alkali metals, barium, silver nitrate, silver nitrite and
silver perchlorate are some exceptions.
D. Which anions generally do not form precipitates? What are the exceptions? All nitrate salts,
alkali metals, ammonium salts, sulfates, acetates, and halides do not form precipitates. Calcium
sulfate, strontium sulfate, barium sulfate, lead (II) ions, silver halide, lead (II) halide and mercury
(I) ions are some exceptions.
E. Which cations generally do not form precipitates? All cations in groups 1 and 2 of the periodic
table generally do not form precipitates. http://chemistry.about.com/od/lectureclassnotes/a

An Unpleasant Experience At An Airport
An unpleasant experience at an airport Recently, UNICEF released a video to promote their
campaign for needy children, however it presents a stereotype against physical appearances
rather than the campaign. In the video, a 6 year old girl who dressed pretty and neatly stood
alone on a street and many people asked her whether she was all right. Later, when the same girl
had changed her appearance in dirty clothes and stood alone again in the same street, then
nobody asked her whether she was okay. The attitudes that people showed depended on the child
s physical appearance. I have a similar experience. The experience that I realized how people are
offended by others who judge people based on the physical appearances was when I waited the
delayed airplane to go to Korea, a manager ignored me since I didn t dress up neatly, however he
changed his attitude politely as soon as he noticed I was a VIP in his company. A few years ago,
my mom called me in the night and said urgently, Your grandmother is in a critical condition. I
think you will be better to see her before she passes away. I was completely overwhelmed by the
unexpected news. My grandmother raised me when I was young because my parents were busy
with work, so she was very special to me. As soon as I heard that news, I bought the earliest flight
ticket for Korea immediately and rushed to the airport with a baggy hoodie and old sweatpants on.
Because the thought that I need to go to the airport as soon as

Epicurus Empiricism
According to Epicurus, all things are experienced through sensation and once we die we no
longer experience anything as there is no sensation after death. Epicurus was an empiricist
meaning, he believed that knowledge comes from sense experience: Everything , good or bad, is
experienced through sensation of any outside factors with which we can physically encounter and
any non physical factors such as our thoughts and consciousness in our minds and souls (?)(p 1).
When the body dies, we therefore cannot experience any of the outside physical things through
sensation. The soul is also corporeal(material) as according to epicurus metaphysics of atomism
and physicalism it consists of tiny paticles and is spread all over the body . When the body

  • 2. Graffiti Is A Beautiful Crime Linda Ngo Summary A Rhetorical Reading Response: Graffiti is a Beautiful Crime Linda Ngo, author of the opinion piece Graffiti is a Beautiful Crime (2017), argues that graffiti should be legalized on grounds that it is an artistic expression of free speech. Ngo uses many comparisons between graffiti, which she claims is harmless, to many legal activities that cause people harm. Her purpose in writing this paper is to establish a legal form of graffitito protect graffiti artists from legal action. Ngo s target audience for this paper is peers who may have different views on graffiti and its purpose. This paper contained many flawed arguments that frustrated me. The question How could beautiful quotes and images destroy boring plain walls? (Ngo 198) has a simple... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the person wants the graffiti on their building, it is not vandalism and is already legal. Ngo also compares alcohol and tobacco use to graffiti. This is a weak argument because a person chooses to consume the substances and suffer their own personal consequences. A graffiti artist chooses another person s property and inflicts damage to it. Freedom of speech is a protected right we have as Americans, but it does not and should not extend to protect vandalism. Linda Ngo creates her arguments primarily from two methods. Her first two arguments are made in the form of syllogism. For example, Ngo states Freedom of speech and expression is a natural right that we assimilated when we were born (196), and This right gives people the opportunity to speak their mind whether it s directly using your mouth or using indirect methods through poetry, music, and visual arts (196). Since graffiti would be a visual art, the argument is; if freedom of speech legally protects art, and graffiti is art, then graffiti should be legally protected. Another example of this is when she defines vandalism as Action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was participating in the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival, an event where students share their music with a small class and receive a lesson from the teacher. My violin teacher and my parents decided that this event would develop my musical skills, so they registered me with enthusiasm. I, on the other hand, was not so enthusiastic. I had never honestly enjoyed performing in the past and I was especially nervous about this event knowing that I would receive a musiclesson from an expert violinist after my performance. It did not help to hear stories of strict, criticizing, and rude teachers from my siblings who had previously done this event either. I wondered how any good could come from this event. Though only flippantly, I even considered what would happen if I pretended to be ill or purposely injured my finger. However, before I knew it, the dreadful day arrived and I realized I would just have to go for it. I woke up before the sun and groggily prepared to leave. My Mom and my two siblings, Amy and Aaron, got ready to leave too since Aaron was also performing and Mom and Amy would be accompanying both of us on the piano. Surprisingly, the lesson seemed to pass quickly and when it had ended, I received a sheet of paper with my teacher s written comments and signature. Members purchase a share and pick it up once a week or once every other week depending on what they decide their household needs. Members can also choose to split a share with another member. Spring Hill Community Farm has been owned and run by my parents, Mike Racette and Patty Wright, for 25 years. I ve often been told that my sister and I take after my dad and his side of the family. As I ve gotten older I ve noticed it even more, not just in appearance, but in personality as well. Mike Racette is a very smart and thoughtful man. He s always eager to meet new people and share stories. My favorite example of this trait is the time we went to the Minnesota State Fair and took a rideshare bus to the fair grounds. On the short bus ride we were split up and he sat by an older woman. They got talking and by the end of the bus ride, he knew all about her and her family, and she even gave him an extra ticket to the fair that she had with her! While he is very personable, Mike can also be described as someone who highly values time alone and privacy. Mike is a typical goofy, embarrassing dad. After the interview, I realized I had forgotten to ask if he would be prefer to go by Mike or Michael in the paper so I texted him and he replied with the lord..haha. • 5. An Exploration of Gothic Horror Stories Essay An Exploration of Gothic Horror Stories Gothic horror is a type of romantic, horror fiction based on irrational fear that predominated in 18th century England. The term gothic originated from the architectural style of the middle ages, but came to describe the dark, terrifying tales that achieved such popularity. Gothic horror can be determined by many things which exist in all gothic horror stories, for example eerie settings such as gothic monasteries, bleak comfortless castles, grave yards and cobwebbed rooms lit by guttering candles. It can also be determined by a unique character such as a beast, monster, ghost, evil creature and innocent person. Usually the innocent person is killed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All three stories were written in the 19th century. They were all set at the same time when they were written. This is a good effect because at the time when they were written, horror stories containing superstition and the macabre were popular because the people at that time believed in witchcraft, ghosts and demons. The location of the action is of great importance in the gothic novel because it creates an atmosphere and feeling to the story. The Judges House is located in the dining room of an old, quiet and isolated house. An old, rambling, heavy built house, this creates a scary atmosphere thus matching the typical setting of a gothic horror story. It goes on to describe the dining room as a, room in darkness, this also creates a scary and terrifying atmosphere because you cant see in the dark and you don t know what s in the dark, this also is an essential gothic horror element because darkness creates a creepy and scary atmosphere. The Tell Tale Heart is located in a house that is probably old as a lantern is used by the narrator, this creates a scary atmosphere like the Judges House because you cant see in the dark and you don t know what is in the darkness so the reader imagines things that create the scary atmosphere, ... How a man and a woman are supposed to dress are unwritten codes of behavior that most people tend to follow. Cross dressers represent a group that is defiant of established norms as they opt to dress in ways contrary to their genderassignment. Further controversy surrounds the issue of cross dressing particularly because there is little consensus on its definition. There is also debate on the distinction, if any, that exists between transvestism and other similar behaviors performed by men. There are similarities in some of the behaviors performed by these separate groups. Research has yet to determine the causes of cross dressing linking it to home, parental,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the time, the feelings experienced were those of comfort and security. A Very extensive documentation exists to show that cross dressing often begins in early boyhood and persist into the adolescent years for the majority of adult transsexuals and transvestites (qtd. in Docter 55). Government is another forum where the role of power is rampant, specifically in legislating laws to control, restrict, and punish behaviors deemed deviant by society. The power of legislation is conveyed many times in this statement regarding the matter of biology in homosexuality. If homosexuality were found to be an immutable trait, like skin color, then laws criminalizing homosexual sex might be overturned. Same sex marriage, job protection, anti discrimination in housing laws all these could hinge on the redefinition of homosexuality as biologically caused rather than socially and culturally chosen (Garber, p. 225). This statement brings up several ways of exerting control over deviant behavior (linked to a particular group of people): by making the behavior a punishable, criminal act; by discrimination through laws; by not granting protection of rights; and by prohibiting the recognition of same sex marriage (as if by not recognizing it, it isn t really there). The reinforcement of gender roles and boundaries through societal constructs is shown in Woodhouse s discussion of transvestites ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The French finally push through and took La Haye Sainte (the estate in the center of the Battlefield) but, this would end up being a small victory in a battle that would have an inevitable outcome. • 18. The Heart Of Evil In Shakespeare s King Lear Shakespeare s King Lear In The Tragedy of King Lear, Shakespeare depicts a knot of characters, each of whom is intent on achieving his or her aims by any means necessary. The main protagonist King Lear is at the heart of evil in the play, as David Beauregard asserts (204). Lear irresponsibly divides his kingdom, gives it away to emerging chaos, and behaves as a tyrant throughout the play. In Lear, Shakespeare creates a complex character, which deserves the misfortunes that he brings upon himself. However, Edmond, the illegitimate son of the Earl of Gloucester, is an outright villain. His misdeeds are the cunningly planned crimes, unlike Lear s impertinent mistreatment of the people. Beauregard further defines the injustice described in King Lear as the result of human evil (217). This play s tragedy is not in Lear s pitiful position, but in the malign state of mind of people who manipulate others, as Lear and Edmond. In the first scene of the play, Gloucester introduces Edmond to the Earl of Kent as his favorite son (1.1.15 16). Still, Edmond is not content with his father s love and recognition. Meredith Skura describes Edmond as this play s villain who maims and murders, defies religion and family bonds (127). • 19. The Effects Of Climate Change On Ecosystems Introduction One of the most important environmental influences on ecosystems is climate. Greenhouse gas pollution is acquiring heat in the atmosphere and inordinately raising global temperatures. Colorado, for example, has warming predictions of 2.5 degrees Fahrenheit by 2025 and up to 4 degrees by 2050. The impact of climatechange can and will affect ecosystems in numerous forms. Such an impact is that warming of the climate will compel a variety of species to shift to higher elevations in order to find a temperaturethat more closely relates to the species survival. This migration can also be related to warming causing tree lines to rise several hundred feet per degree Fahrenheitthat temperature rises thus removing habitat for many species. Warming will also cause a flux in precipitation and snowpack which can lead to wetland areas and stream temperatures to rise and alter habitats of cold water fish. Climate change also directly affects sea levels as melting of polar caps are causing them to rise. This can cause salt water to intrude upon freshwater ecosystems and these species may not be able to adapt and they lose their habitats and must advance elsewhere or perish. This shock can also cause different predatory and prey species to leave which drastically alters the food chain and causing critters to starve or migrate to different areas where they may not be able to adapt and causing them to ... The population of bestiality compare themselves to the GLBT LBGTQ population, because they feel they are subject to the same retributions as homosexuality. They feel they have the right to their own sexual orientation, and hope to find an open minded ally in the gay rights movement to support that, and become part of the bestiality rights movement . Some say human animal relationships are unequal relationships, ; some view this as taking advantage of minor boys or girls. Animals like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was in 1996 that the first UK curriculum was introduced which was called Desirable Outcomes . Within the document were learning outcomes to be achieved by all children by the age of five and being a centralised system, an inspection scheme was also introduced. In this article Soler and Miller (2010) highlight how these changes were perceived to be shaping the early childhood curriculum from the outside rather than from within the early childhood community. On the opposite side of the continuum, the Reggio Emilia approach is a programme that is centred on the principles of respect, responsibility, and community. It is based on the interests of the children through a self guided curriculum with no early learning goals or inspections. The article then goes on to explain how in 1999 new curriculum guidance was introduced in the UK which was entitled Early Learning Goals . It was later developed to bring in six learning areas and stepping stones that led each child towards an early learning goal. Soler and Miller (2010) research this statement further and write, that in structuring the curriculum and its assessment in this manner, the policy makers have made assumptions about where the levels begin and end for all children. With the new reform in place, schools have been instructed to follow new guidelines and nutrition programmes to meet the standards of a healthy school. This required the removal of vending machine sodas, and the reconfiguration of the foods in all school cafeterias. With this new reform in place, schools have seen various outcomes from this change. Before this particular Sunday, I had never attended a Mormon service, nor had I spoken to anyone who believed in Mormonism or the Latter Day Saints. With that being said, I was welcomed much more openly than I had originally thought. Before entering, I was approached by two members of the church; two young women (sisters) between the ages of roughly 19 to 22. I arrived about an hour before service, that way I could ask a few people some questions, but the two girls beat me to the punch. They nodded and proceeded to explain to me the reasons as to why they believed so strongly, and also a bit of background information on the faith. One of the girls, explained to me that there has been a lot of skepticism about Mormonismdue in part to the fact that Joseph Smith Jr, was so young and how his explanation of Moroni (An angel no one had ever heard of), and his entire religion and the scripture used, Book of Mormon, could have just been a part of his imagination. • 36. The Negative Effects Of Rationalization In Food, Inc. According to Weber, rationalization refers to the process by which modern society has increasingly become concerned with efficiency, predictability, calculability, and control (Weber 2009). This leads to behaviors that are guided by reason and practicality. In the film Food, Inc. (2008), the owners of the meatcompanies wanted to produce their products in a rational manor. The film portrays the side of the foodindustry that the companies do not want the consumers to see. Although this rationalization may seem to be positive, there are many negative effects. One example of food production in the film is the production of chickens. When interviewing the owners of the chicken farms, they were extremely restricted on what they could say and show. The farmers took out thousands of dollars in loans to be able to start their farms. The farmers do not earn enough to pay off their loans, so they are in a constant debt. On top of this, the farmers are required by the corporations to constantly update their equipment. If they do not update the equipment, then they will lose their contracts. This further traps them in a cycle of debt and dependence on the large corporations. If they do anything to go against the corporations, they can easily lose their contract and be replaced. These chickens are raised in chicken coups where the majority of them never see sunlight. They are given hormones to increase the size of the chicken in less times. Testicular cancerrepresents only 1 percent of all cancers in males, but it is the most common malignancy for men between ages 15 and 35. 1 Whether or not teste cancer is the most serious health problem among Maori arguable and additional health related problems should be discussed. First of all, testicular cancer is one of the most crippling diseases creating significant damage on patient and family. Additionally, the discrepancy between Maori and Pakeha diagnosis of testicular cancer is a cause for concern. Contrariwise a lack of knowledge on the difference between Maori and Pakeha psychology and the way Psychologist/Psychiatrist deal with Maori patients. This isolation is good for a while, it allows us to clear our heads and think things through before going back into a normal routine.
