The Enlightenment
World Literature
The Enlightenment s Impact on the Modern World The Enlightenment, Age of Reason, began in the
late 17th and 18th century. This was a period in Europe and America when mankind was emerging
from centuries of ignorance into a new age enlightened by reason, science, and respect for humanity.
This period promoted scientific thought, skeptics, and intellectual interchange: dismissing superstition,
intolerance, and for some, religion. Western Europe, Germany, France, and Great Britain, and the
American Colonies generally influenced the age of reason. Following the Renaissance, science and
rationality was the forefront of this age. The enlightenment came as a wave throughout Europe,
drastically changing the culture. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An unobstructed supply of grain in France would be a means of increasing total output. In 1776 Adam
Smith published The Wealth of Nations, which forwards similar ideas. Smith was somewhat different
from the physiocrats, though, because he believed that labor and the market were the prime creators of
wealth. Smith argues The greatest improvement in the productive powers of labour, and the greater
part of the skill, dexterity, and judgment with which it is anywhere directed, or applied, seem to have
been the effects of the division of labour. (Smith) He believes labor for one owns success is the best
way to work, not wealth based on social standings. In making these arguments, both the physiocrats
and Adam Smith struck at the hold that the aristocracy was trying to maintain on the economy. Locke
agrees, All wealth is the product of labor The laissez faire economists believed that wealth should not
be confined to one class. As articulated in France, therefore, the argument for laissez faire economics
was an argument that the ancient regime should be abolished and replaced with a more equal basis for
society. Most literature was nonfiction, which means it was based on fact rather than being made up
by the author s imagination. Its aims were to instruct, to enlighten, and to make people think.

Tattoos Senior Project
My senior project was over the History of Tattooing, I chose this as my topic because Tattoos really
interest me with all the different styles and meanings behind them. Some things I already knew about
Tattooing is a lot of tribes used tattoos to symbolize things, but I didn t know what. With my research I
expected to find a lot more upfront information, like maybe a for sure area on where they originated
and exactly how it spread, but it was so spread out it was hard for anyone to pinpoint exactly who did
them first.
Doing my senior project I found out that just doodling a Tattoo is difficult because you wouldn t want
it to be flat or too simple, so you have to really but in detail and attempt to put in depth to help your
piece come to life even before it s on skin, What I did was I put in a different color where the bottom
area of the tentacle is and tried to do highlighting with some silver to give more depth. My mentor

The Argument Against School Segregation
A woman boards a segregated ferry that will take her across the Mississippi River. The Supreme Court
s unanimous decision in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas superseded the separate but
equal precedent in public education that was set by the Supreme Court in 1896. The Court s opinion
was delivered by Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren, finding that racial segregation was inherently
unequal, even if the tangible facilities, such as school buildings, were considered comparable.
Furthermore, the Court stated that racial segregation in public schools was a violation of the Equal
Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment and therefore unconstitutional. Besides unanimously
concluding that separation based on race was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This included literacy tests and the Grandfather Clause. Question: How do the Civil and Voting Rights
Acts build upon the rights granted in the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution?
Freedom Songs served as the collective voice of the movement. The songs created a mobilizing
soundtrack to the fight for equal rights and were sung during many of the major events of the time.
The beauty and strength of these songs was in the energy they provided for massive groups of
revolutionists as they sat in church meetings or marched in the streets for freedom and desegregation.
Many had their roots grounded in hymnals, spirituals, gospel, and rhythm and blues, with lyrics
adapted to reflect current challenges and goals. Singing groups such as the Freedom Singers from
Albany, Georgia, and the Staple Singers from Chicago, Illinois, would travel throughout the country
and introduce freedom songs to activists nationwide. The Freedom Singers even toured to raise funds
for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. We Shall Overcome was an unofficial anthem
for the Civil Rights Movement. It was first sung by tobacco workers on strike in Charleston, South
Carolina. The song has also been used around the world by civil rights movements in China, South
Africa, and Ireland. Ain Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round was one of the songs that the Freedom
Riders sang during their incarceration at Parchman Penitentiary in Mississippi. After guards threatened

Accountability in Nursing
Introduction Responsibility is defined as the reliability, dependability, and the obligation to
accomplish work , responsibility also includes each person s obligation to perform at an acceptable
level, the level that the person has been educated (Kelly Heidenthal, 2003, p. 268). Accountability is
defined as, being responsible and liable for actions or failure of actions of oneself or others in the
context of delegation (NCSBN, 2009). This is in reference to the nurse s legal liability for the actions
taken and patient outcomes. Accountability and responsibility are different, as responsibility belongs
to the person doing the task and accountability belongs to the person who assigned the task. The nurse
is both accountable for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the legal liability the practitioner owes to the patient. By accepting the responsibility to
perform a task the practitioner must ensure the task is performed competently at least to the standard
of the ordinarily competent practitioner in that type of task. If a practitioner such as a registered nurse
should delegate a task, then that practitioner must be sure that the delegation is appropriate. This
means that the task must be necessary; and the person performing the delegated task, for example a
HCA, must understand the task and how it is performed, have the skills and abilities to perform the
task competently and accept responsibility for carrying it out One common mistakes exhibited by
professionals in the field is delegation of duties by persons. Nurses should be wary of delegating
duties to health care assistant because nurses should be aware of the abilities of the person with whom
he or she is delegating duties. This is to minimize any chance of poor service delivery. Poor patient
attendance by a person tasked with the duty at the time of delivery will extend the liability to the nurse
delegating duties. Accountability of nurses is clearly pinpointed and well within the realm of law. A
nurse is accountable to all the patients he or she is expected to attend to. Such accountability as
underlined by common law helps promote safety of all patients. Accountability to the profession is
one other important aspect that provides an

MMA or Mixed martial arts is a full contact combat sport...
MMA or Mixed martial arts is a full contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and
grappling skills, both standing and on the mat, from a selection of other combat sports. Numerous
mixed style contests were held throughout Europe, the Pacific Rim, and Japan during the early 1900s.
The combat sport of vale tudo that came from Brazil from the 1920s was brought to the U.S by the
Gracie family in 1993 with the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship .
The more dangerous vale tudo style bouts of the early UFCs had been made safer by adding rules,
leading to the popular regulated form of MMA seen today. Initially endorsed as a competition with the

Another early example of mma was Bartitsu, which Edward Barton Wright founded in London in
1899. Combining jujutsu, judo, boxing, canne de combat and savate, Bartitsu was the first martial art
known to have combined Asian and European fighting styles, and which saw MMA style competitions
throughout England, pitting Japanese and European champions against representatives of various
European wrestling styles. In Japan the contests were known as merikan, from the Japanese slang for
American . These contests were fought under a variety of rules including points decision,
knockdowns, and victory via submission or knockout.
As the admiration of professional wrestling waned after World War I it split into two genres: shoot , in
which the fighters really competed, and show , which changed into modern professional wrestling.
In 1963, Judo Gene Lebell fought the professional boxer Milo Savage in a no holds barred fight.
Lebell won by a rear naked choke, leaving Milo Savage unconscious.
In the late 1960s to early 1970s, the theory of combining multiple martial arts was popularized in the
west by Bruce Lee his method of Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee thought that the best fighter is not a Boxer,
Karate or Judo man. The best fighter is someone who can adapt to any style, to be formless, to adopt
an individual s own style and not following the system of styles. In 2004, UFC President Dana White
would call Lee the father of mixed martial arts testifying: If

Historical Declaration Analysis
My reactions to the historic declaration were mixed. On the one hand, I felt that the historic
declaration was reasonable and essential. The Declaration endows the indigenous peoples with basic
human rights as other people. It ends suffering of indigenous peoples and justifies their rights to self
determination, identity, ownership of land, culture, and many other issues. I am happy for indigenous
peoples and grateful for the United Nations efforts. On the other hand, I felt sorry for our behaviors
and words. Indigenous peoples are the same with other peoples, such as Americans, Canadians, and
Australians. However, they have been discriminated and unfairly treated for a long time and the
discrimination still exists after the Declaration was

Gender Criticism and The Turn of the Screw by Henry James
Gender Criticism and The Turn of the Screw
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James continues to stir up an immense amount of controversy for
such a short novel. Making a definite, educated decision on the actual truth considering the countless
inquiries that develop while reading this story proves more difficult than winning a presidential
election. That being understood, taking one particular side on any argument from a close reading of
the story seems impossible, because the counter argument appears just as conceivable. Any side of the
controversy remains equally disputable considerably supported by textual evidence from the novel.

It is a story predominantly populated by people of the lower class, living servants like Mrs. Grose and
a governess, which is our narrator, and the not so living servants like Miss Jessel and Quint. It is
interesting to see how throughout the novel the Governess is proud to place herself slightly above the
other servants, just as Mrs. Grose places Miss Jessel above Quint, however the fact of the matter was
that to the rest of society, these people were all considered to be on the same bottom level of the socio
economic ranking at the time. Robbins brings up an interesting idea in his criticism that Henry James
is trying to explain the standpoint of society throughout the novel, which is that society felt that
servants were not meant to be part of real society but were meant to just blend into the background
and do their job without really being noticed or acknowledged. He basically uses the ghosts as
symbols, even reminders of the fact that the governess is just like them, in the way that she is below
most of society since she is an upper class servant, and is therefore invisible and something less than
[a] human being (336). The housemaids, the dairywoman, the gardener, and an old pony were all said
to be equivalents to each other, therefore making these servants comparable to a pony, which is
definitely not making them on the same level as other human beings, let alone those of a higher class.

1 Kings Research Paper

1 Kings is a narrative and chronological history of Israel. Its author is unknown, although it is
commonly believed to be either the Prophet Jeremiah, or another prophet working at the same time as
Jeremiah. The book was written between 971 BC 848 BC. 1 Kings can be divided into two sections; A
united kingdom, 1 Kings 1:1 11:43, a divided kingdom (1 Kings 12:1 22:53). 1 Kings appears as a
continuation of the books of Samuel until the narrative takes a unique turn at the death of Solomon

the Southern Kingdom of Judah. At this point, the narrative becomes a parallel accounting of

Importance Of Clubbing And Nightlife
Clubbing is seen and experienced in different parts of the world and music is always a part of this
activity. Music is seen and experienced in various spaces based on interactions at a certain time
between agents and the place. As a result of ethnographic encounters in six dance clubs in Baguio
City, Philippines as well as interviews with actors clubbers, managers and musicians and the place,
this paper argues that there is a communicative value attached to musicking and experiencing music in
clubs, entangled with the social value attached to clubbing and music production and consumption.
The value and experience transcend beyond traditional notion of music and beyond the quotidian
understanding of music production and consumption. Musicking in nightclubs also possess symbolic
meanings associated with experience and value. The trajectories between the agents of music
production and consumption are seen to be interacting with one another, together with the place.

Persuasive Essay On Work
People who matter aren t playing attention
People do not have the time to keep up with what you are doing. Quite honestly, people have difficulty
keeping up with themselves much less anyone else. In fact, if you are not in their face on a constant
basis, you will be largely forgotten. You complete your work with no problems. Everything gets done,
and there are no problems. For this, you need to make sure that you are on their radar.
Avoid repetition of your past achievements, you don t want to become old news. Focus on recent
achievements
Contribute to conversations by asking good questions
Work on confidence to speak up when you have something relevant to other people
What are you working on? don t say not much
Wrong answer: not much
Right answer: I am working on X to solve Y problem. We hope to save Z dollars when we are done.
This lets people know that you are doing something important. They are more likely to remember this
as opposed to the not much . Even worse, the wrong answer might put you on the radar for layoffs
when people do not know what you are doing.
Ask for what you want

Abstract In this paper we have discussed about the cache and various mapping technique. Then we
shift our focus on compressed caching which is the technique that tries to decrease paging request
from secondary storage. We know that there is a big performance gap in accessing the primary
memory (RAM) and secondary storage (Disk). The Compressed caching technique intercepts the
pages to be swapped out, compresses them and stores them in pool allocated in RAM. Hence it tries to
fill the performance gap by adding new level to virtual memory hierarchy. This paper analyze the
performance of virtual memory compression. Further to avoid various categories of cache misses we
discuss different types of cache technique to achieve higher performance. Lastly we discuss few open
and challenging issues faced in various cache optimization techniques.

Students will be intellectually engaged through the prompts that are given to create their complete

could do if they were the president and allows room for brainstorming and the imagination. They will
also work together with their peers to identify two facts about each of the two presidents we are

student is ready to learn, they will be allowed to come back to the table with the group on continue on

Symptoms And Treatment Of Chest Pain
Chest Pain Chest pain is defined as a general term for any dull, aching pain in the thorax, usually
referring to that of acute onset, which is often regarded as being myocardial in origin unless proven
otherwise (McGraw Hill n.d.). Chest pain is a warning to seek medical attention and can be caused by
many reasons. Serious causes for chest pain include: Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS): New onset
angina, accelerating or crescendo angina and prolonged angina or coronary insufficiency, non ST
elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Typical
features of cardiac chest pain is 1.) located under the breastbone or at least some of the pain is situated
in this area, 2.) other features include provocation by exercise or stress and 3.) relief by rest or
nitroglycerin. If all three features are present the patient is said to have typical angina. If two of the
three features are present the patient is said to have atypical angina and if only one of the three
features are present the patient is said to have non anginal chest pain (Continuing Medical
Implementaiton 2013). Chest pain or chest discomfort is the most common presenting complaint that
brings patients into the ER everyday. During the physical exam, palpate and inspect the skin for color,

Leapfrog Case Analysis
LeapFrog Has Cash and Knows How to Use It
By Luke Edson
January 4, 2015
Summary
LeapFrog entered a highly anticipated retail holiday season with a very strong product lineup.
A balance sheet with no debt and cash in excess of total liabilities limits the downside risk.
Despite insider buying, recent poor performance has kept the stock price at a very low level; an
examination of valuation multiples and a DCF analysis imply a 50 70% upside.
Although it suffered poor performance in the wake of large inventory carryover following the 2013
holiday season, LeapFrog s management team has demonstrated that the company has great potential
as a children s educational entertainment company. LeapFrog entered the 2014 holiday season with a
very strong product lineup. Its three major products, the LeapPad 3, LeapTV, and the LeapBand, all
won awards from Dr. Toy, and LeapTV and LeapBand have no significant direct competition. While
the company operates in a competitive industry with relatively high capital intensity, it has a balance
sheet with no debt and very high cash reserves. Despite these strengths, the company is trading at very
low multiples. Insiders clearly agree that the stock is undervalued, as the CEO, CFO, and an
independent director all purchased shares in early November at prices comparable to current ones. In
this article, I will argue that LeapFrog s strengths outweigh its risks, and that the stock offers an
asymmetric risk/return opportunity for investors.

Billy Collins Introduction To Poetry Analysis
is tie the poem to a chair with rope and torture a confession out of it.
They begin beating it with a hose to find out what it really means.
Introduction to Poetry has irregular meter with some lines using iambic pentameter. It is 16 lines made
of 7 stanzas, written in free verse with no set rhyme scheme. This allows the poet to use a variation of
styles and tactics to express the idea of the poem. The author, Billy Collins is an American poet, who
served two terms as Poet Laureate of the United Stated and has been an educator most of his life. He is
currently a Professor of English at Lehman College in New York. This information is important in
understanding Introduction to Poetry, because it is written from the perspective of a teacher explaining
to his students, how poetry should be examined, something Collins has firsthand knowledge of.
Introduction to Poetry compares and contrasts how the poet wants his students to approach poetry, to
the unforgiving nature of their examination, which distorts the intended experience of the poem.
The title sets the scholastic tone. Introduction to Poetry is a course you could find in any college
catalogue, confirming theeducational theme. The word introduction, could also be seen as a subtle hint
of the personification to come at the end of the poem. In each of the first five stanzas, Collins explains
how he wants his students to experience poetry through the senses.
In the first stanza learn the speaker and the subject of the poem and are asked to examine poetry
through sight. The speaker is a teacher, who is trying to show his students various methods of
examining poetry to find it s meaning. The speaker asks the students to take a poem and not read it,
but hold it up to the light like a color slide. A color slide is a small square of cardboard with a film
image in the center that can be put in a projector and viewed on a screen when light is passed through
it. This simile compares a poem to a film transparency, suggesting the need to shed light on the subject
to see the images within it.
Stanza 2 is one line of iambic tetrameter which is convieniently used in the only stanza that references
sound. Here Collins uses the metaphor of a poem being like a bee hive

Feminism And The First Wave Feminism
Feminism is the movement towards women s equality and the fight for equal gender in the social,
political, cultural and economical aspects of society. Feminism also fights for equal opportunity for
women in employment and education. A feminist is someone who advocates their support for women
s rights but is not restricted to only women; anyone who supports women s rights and equality are
feminists, including men. Feminism is not only about the females; it fights for gender equality for all.
Feminist movements, or Women s movements, campaign for reforms in household issues with
domestic violence, political issues with equal pay, employment and maternity leave, and reproduction
rights. All feminism movements fight for equal rights, but it cannot be conquered or be made known
all at once. First wave feminism was mostly about women s suffrage and political equality in general
whereas the second wave feminism went more in depth about the social and cultural inequalities.
The first wave feminism was mostly about legal issues, specifically woman s suffrage, or the right to
vote. Before women could even think about changing the government policies, they had to raise
awareness. While some acts may have been passed, the feminist movement did not truly start until
1848 with the Seneca Falls Convention. In the early 1800s there were some reforms but not as much
as the aftermath of the Seneca Falls Convention. Only one university, which was Oberlin College, had

Cultural Relativism Essay
In February 2007, the fourth annual conference of Zero Tolerance Against Female Genital
Mutilation/Cutting was held. Their meeting brought together scholars and lay people alike, all whose
main concern was the issue of Female Genital Cutting (FGC). However, this conference was unlike
others in that the focus of discussion wasn t how to eliminate this practice, but rather, whether it
should be eliminated at all (Goldberg 121). When Fuambai Ahmadu, a Ph.D. fellow and first
generation American from Sierra Leone, took the floor, everyone listened. Ahmadu was raised in
America and as an adult, traveled back to Sierra Leone to take part in the ritual of Female Genital
Cutting. She chose to participate in this initiation and what she feels is ... Show more content on

in Shell Duncan 3). She further notes that the the inability of children below a certain age to provide
informed consent, their vulnerability provides a potentially compelling basis for denouncing the
practice of FGC (Shell Duncan 4). This is exactly the kind of evidence that the anti FGC campaign
presents to criticize the practice. They claim that especially since girls are at an age when they cannot
give their consent, FGC is a fundamental violation of their human rights (Boyle 270). As Americans, it
is easy for us to take an ethnocentric view on FGC. When we hear of any practice where part of a girl
s genitalia is removed, it sounds horrifying. We take this position naturally because the practice of
FGC is unknown to us; it is something we do not understand and therefore we can easily condemn it.
We hear that this procedure takes place in Africa, Indonesia and The Middle East. Since we deem
these countries third world, we assume these people are un educated, ignorant and need our (America
s) help, to eradicate the tradition of FGC. Many believe that Female Genital Cutting is an archaic
tradition supported by male dominated societies to keep women in their subservient roles. However, if
we examine this procedure closer, one will find many parallels with Western cultures and an extreme
hypocrisy with this reasoning. Female Genital Cutting is often referred to (in the West) as Female
Genital Mutilation. However, there is quite a

Mnemonic Modeling
When a hypothesis is formed and an experiment is planned, there are multiple steps to ensure the
measures taken are designed correctly and ethical. In this particular study about whether the new
mnemonic training will improve short term memory in 70 year olds. The conductor chose to include
testing 70 year olds with Alzheimer s disease to test the mnemonic program s effectivity. In this
experiment multiple aspects are being tested. First, the mnemonic s effectivity on the short tem
memory of 70 year olds. In this scenario is the group with no training is the control group, whereas the
group completing the program is the experimental group. The independent variable is the mnemonic

The experiment is this particular design because there are multiple variables at play: Alzheimer s
disease, the mnemonic program, and the Wechsler scale score. At the end of the study the conductor
will be able to determine if there is a relationship between the program and improving short term
memory in 70 year olds. The tester can use moderation to test if having Alzheimer s and the program
will have a relationship with a higher scale score. They could also use mediation to see if either/ or the
independent variables will have a relationship with increase scale scores. Hierarchical linear modeling
could be used to follow the pattern of increase or decrease in an individual over time. Correlation
methods have both their advantages and disadvantages. First, the correlation test is that responses can
be graphed and interpreted as positive showing that with more training short term can improve, or vice
versa. One other possibility is that the slope will neither go positive of negative; this would indicate
that the scale score has nor relationship with the mnemonic program. The disadvantage to correlation
tests is that the researcher cannot say her program caused the elder s scores to increase, she simple
cannot justify that because not tested factors (age, diet, etc.) cannot be out

European Imperialism Dbq Essay
For the 300 years between 1500 and 1800,European nations traded for slaves, gold, and ivory along the
west coast of africa, but they did not go deeply into the continent. In the 1880s Africa was under full
assault as European nations competed with one another for control of the continent. The driving force
behind European imperialism is power and they gain it by getting control and resources of Africa and
they justify it all by saying it was their duty as more civilised nations to make other nations as
civilized as theirs.
The first thing that European countries needed was control over Africa and many countries tried to do
so and this led to competition between almost all nations. This can be seen in document A because it
shows a map of the many locations other countries have taken as theirs. Control was a big factor in all
of this but it is only one of the many factors that comes in when a country wants power.
The next thing that the European countries needed was resourses for the mother country can get more
wealthy and better in supply. This can be seen in document D, and E because document D shows the
exports from Africa and how the mother country is using the resources to further the country s power
by advancing in technology, and document E shows the many imports and ... Show more content on

Roe Vs. Wade Case

Roe vs. Wade
The purpose of this essay is inform you about the Roe vs Wade court case
Introduction
Have you ever wonder why someone else could decide if you could have an abortion and when you
could have one? Why is there an abortion law? This is why I will be talking about a certain court case.
What is abortion? According to merriam webster abortion is the termination of a pregnancy after,
accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus. In order for you
to get a better understanding of the Roe vs Wade court case, I will talk about the background before
the court case happened, I will describe the event that happened to cause the court case, I will analyze
the court case and the results and I will tell the impact that this case has had on United Sate s history.
Body
Let s talk about the events that led up to the court case being filed. The case involved an unmarried
pregnant woman, born Norma Leah Nelson on September 22, 1947, in the bayou country of
Lettesworth, Louisiana who was at the time identified only as Jane Roe in order to maintain her
anonymity but who has since publicly identified herself as Norma McCorvey. McCorvey, a resident of
Texas, wanted to have an abortion, but the existing state law prevented her from doing so. She filed a
lawsuit in federal district court on behalf of herself and all other pregnant women. The suit sought to
have the Texas abortion law declared unconstitutional

Occupational Therapy Is More Than Enhancing Activities
Occupational therapy is much more than enhancing activities of daily living to me. I see occupational
therapy as helping people achieve daily freedom and making attainable goals to improve their physical
and mental health while providing a professional relationship to encourage trust and reliability
throughout treatment. Something as simple as tying shoes or being able to grab a fork to eat can make
all the difference in the world to the patients an occupational therapist will treat. I have been working
at a hand clinic since September and have seen that the small achievements like the tying of the shoes
of the ability to bend the finger 10 more degrees puts a big smile on the faces of the patients and
improves their outlook and demeanor towards their injury. Encouraging home exercise, helping with
self cares, teaching writing skills and helping provide custom splints are all aspects that I have seen
with my job and observation of occupational therapy as a whole. When I started my job at the hand
clinic a therapist told me that the most basic occupational therapy explanation she could provide me is
that occupational therapy is a way of helping others achieve a better level of daily living for things
that they want and or need to do in life than when they sought help from therapy.
Growing up I worked at Les Schwab Tire Center since I was 16 years old. I loved working on cars and
learning how to be self sufficient if something of my own ever broke. I knew after a few months

Cisco Systems
| Case Analysis CISCO Systems | | | | | | 1. How have Cisco s channels evolved in the last 10 15 years?
Why have they evolved that way? What does the future look like? Cisco is the leader in the switches
and router market. Cisco was described as a classic start up fairy tale. Indirect sales and distribution
through resellers was responsible for the small percentage of products delivered in the early 1990s.
Cisco model was praised as a successful indirect sales and channel strategy. In 1995, Chambers (CEO)
took the helm and the company played a leading role in the internet revolution. Market capitalization
exceeded $500 billion in 2000. Cisco s sales had crossed $18 billion and it boasted relationship with ...

Through voice VARs? Data VARs? or both? I would recommend the distribution of VoIP products
through both voice and data VARs. Even though voice channel was considerably more consolidated
than the data channel however it is agreed that voice needed to be added to the mix of already existing
data VARs. In the data market, margins for the resellers where in the region 12%to 20% due to the
channel competition. On one hand, it makes sense to stay with existing margin structure because the
new technology delivered huge cost advantage for the end user. But the Voice VARs were entrenched
with PBX firms and it would cannibalize introducing new product line. The maturing nature of the
networking market and opportunity provided Cisco to expand their business and needed to the keep
the productivity with the existing data VARs. 4. What are your reactions to the Pyramid model
advanced in Fig.C of the case? What is the core concept of the model? Is there an alternative
evolutional model that Cisco should adop? It was a completely different strategy adopted by Cisco
when healthy profit margins on routers and switches were the norm in 1990s. This offered value
addition to the resellers and sales volume was the key which showed Cisco s intention to improve the
market share. Gold , Silver or Premier status was awarded to the certified resellers who would in turn

Computer Networks And The Network System
The world is full of technology, in this ever growing world this technology needs to be connected.
Everything is interconnected through the internet nowadays. The internet is the connection of assorted
computer networks through a series of service providers and businesses. In order to create these
networks, there needs to be devices known as routers, switches and firewalls. These devices have
some very well known vendors, such as, Cisco and Juniper. Juniper uses an operating system called
Junos. Junos OS is a great network operating system because of its modularity and it s unique and
hierarchical configuration style. The operating system is very popular among many Information

Ciarlone say in a statement One of the first things that Juniper realized was that, due to Cisco s
monolithic pricing, smaller businesses were being shut out of high end networking almost entirely
(Ciarlone). He goes on to say that using Juniper products are great for small to medium sized
networks. Cisco has moved up to higher tier networking and thus their equipment has upped in price
as well (Ciarlone). Juniper is aimed at not only the big networking side but also heavily caters to the
small scale network side. The devices range in different tiers of price and ability. The biggest
difference has to be the price in the products. The price of a product can make or break a company s
network infrastructure; not all companies can budget themselves for the greatest network
infrastructure. Jim Duffy compares and contrasts these two networking giants and points out many
differences, Jim goes on to quote Jeff Doyle, the president of IP consultancy Jeff Doyle and Associates
saying The reality is, IOS is pretty old. [JUNOS] was architecturally designed differently. It s more
modern and modular, meaning bug fixes are easier and functional failures tend to be not as impactual
as they are with as IOS. (Duffy). The modularity of Junos is what makes it a cut above the rest. Junos
has a modular OS, Junos uses separate module to do the specified

Black Women In The 1963 March On Washington
The 1963 March on Washington was one of the most memorable events of the Civil Rights
Movement. Thousands of U.S. citizens of various racial backgrounds gathered in the nation s capital
to protest the racial inequality prevalent in U.S. society during that time. Of the numerous speakers
and civil rights organizations represented, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. s I Have A Dream had the most
impact on the minds of Americans because it challenged U.S. citizens to consider the nation s future
without racial equality. However, while King and other March speakers spoke of racial equality for all
members of the human race, the voice of one very important group was denied its say. Women,
particularly black women, were not given the opportunity to participate directly in the March.
Although black women had played a pivotal role in the movement, they often received little
recognition for such dedicated participation. As the Southern Christian Leadership Conference
(SCLC)1 predominantly planned the March on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the movement s inception, black women were at the forefront, organizing communities, church
congregations, and Civil Rights organizations. However, despite such committed involvement to
improving the conditions of black Americans, black female movement participants encountered sexist
treatment from their black male counterparts and mainstream society.
I will examine the experiences of black women in the Civil Rights Movement from 1960 1970, and
argue that although it was a movement for a racial equality, the Civil Rights Movement was also
gendered. By gendered, I mean that the mobilization of resources, the structures of organizations, and
the experiences of black female activists were all affected by U.S. gender constructions of that

Dr. Ben Carson s Life
Ronald Dolan
9/22/15
Dr. Mera Ford
Dr. Ben Carson The sound of tearing cloth and a twisted metal sound resonates in his head. The knife
had bit into his friend when he lashed out toward his friend over the use of a simple radio. He felt as
light as a feather as he ran home from the scene of the crime. Inside his closet he clutches a bible.
After wiping his tears away the young child looks down to the bible, opens it, and reads Better a
patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city Proverbs 16:32
(CEB). (Ben Carson Bio.com) His anger and fear subsides from his fit of rage where he tried to stab
his friend. Benjamin Solomon Carson at this time was a young frustrate boy who needed help and
found it through the bible. He was lucky that the knife had hit his friend s belt buckle just right so that
the boy was unharmed. This experience, which he considers a miracle, turned a young unruly boy onto
a completely different path of life. Dr. Ben Carson has become someone of great stature and an icon to
all people struggling in the United States. He is a true example of how someone can come from a life
of poverty and hate to a life of love. Dr. Carson had his defining moment at a very young age. Along
with moment was an extremely supportive mother and brother. Carson started off that school year
with terrible grades and had little help to change those grades. It was up to him to pull them up, which
he did. He graduated with honors from his high

The Rationalization of the South African Society
Modernity revolves around the rational application of scientific method to certain aspects of life. This
could be done through the development of governmental regulations, bureaucratic observation, and
the erosion of traditional values (Beck, Lash Giddens, 1997). New thought processes and the increase
in the application medicine and technology have played important roles in the concept of rationalism
(Bilton et al, 2002). The character of modern society could be defined by rationalism (Macionis
Plummer, 2012: 123); this can be clearly seen in the South African rational social organization context
from hunter gatherer days to modern day society. An example of this would be how the essence of
time has changed within society. In traditional hunter gatherer societies, like The San and Zulu clans ,
before technological inventions such as the clock was introduced, people used to base their time on the
sun and moon s position as well as seasons to allocate their time in regions and activities in order to
conduct their livelihood (South Africa African Religions, 1996). However, in modern day society,
owing to the clock invention, scheduled activities/events are precisely on the hour and minute
(Macionis Plummer, 2012: 123). Thus, modern society has allowed individuals to be more efficient,
by limiting time constraints through technology and infrastructure and has greatly improved the
livelihoods of people, owing to better healthcare and institutions which affectively address

  • 2. The Enlightenment World Literature The Enlightenment s Impact on the Modern World The Enlightenment, Age of Reason, began in the late 17th and 18th century. This was a period in Europe and America when mankind was emerging from centuries of ignorance into a new age enlightened by reason, science, and respect for humanity. This period promoted scientific thought, skeptics, and intellectual interchange: dismissing superstition, intolerance, and for some, religion. Western Europe, Germany, France, and Great Britain, and the American Colonies generally influenced the age of reason. Following the Renaissance, science and rationality was the forefront of this age. The enlightenment came as a wave throughout Europe, drastically changing the culture. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An unobstructed supply of grain in France would be a means of increasing total output. In 1776 Adam Smith published The Wealth of Nations, which forwards similar ideas. Smith was somewhat different from the physiocrats, though, because he believed that labor and the market were the prime creators of wealth. Smith argues The greatest improvement in the productive powers of labour, and the greater part of the skill, dexterity, and judgment with which it is anywhere directed, or applied, seem to have been the effects of the division of labour. (Smith) He believes labor for one owns success is the best way to work, not wealth based on social standings. In making these arguments, both the physiocrats and Adam Smith struck at the hold that the aristocracy was trying to maintain on the economy. Locke agrees, All wealth is the product of labor The laissez faire economists believed that wealth should not be confined to one class. As articulated in France, therefore, the argument for laissez faire economics was an argument that the ancient regime should be abolished and replaced with a more equal basis for society. Most literature was nonfiction, which means it was based on fact rather than being made up by the author s imagination. Its aims were to instruct, to enlighten, and to make people think. • 3. Tattoos Senior Project My senior project was over the History of Tattooing, I chose this as my topic because Tattoos really interest me with all the different styles and meanings behind them. Some things I already knew about Tattooing is a lot of tribes used tattoos to symbolize things, but I didn t know what. With my research I expected to find a lot more upfront information, like maybe a for sure area on where they originated and exactly how it spread, but it was so spread out it was hard for anyone to pinpoint exactly who did them first. Doing my senior project I found out that just doodling a Tattoo is difficult because you wouldn t want it to be flat or too simple, so you have to really but in detail and attempt to put in depth to help your piece come to life even before it s on skin, What I did was I put in a different color where the bottom area of the tentacle is and tried to do highlighting with some silver to give more depth. • 4. The Argument Against School Segregation A woman boards a segregated ferry that will take her across the Mississippi River. The Supreme Court s unanimous decision in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas superseded the separate but equal precedent in public education that was set by the Supreme Court in 1896. The Court s opinion was delivered by Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren, finding that racial segregation was inherently unequal, even if the tangible facilities, such as school buildings, were considered comparable. Furthermore, the Court stated that racial segregation in public schools was a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment and therefore unconstitutional. Besides unanimously concluding that separation based on race was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This included literacy tests and the Grandfather Clause. Question: How do the Civil and Voting Rights Acts build upon the rights granted in the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution? Freedom Songs served as the collective voice of the movement. The songs created a mobilizing soundtrack to the fight for equal rights and were sung during many of the major events of the time. The beauty and strength of these songs was in the energy they provided for massive groups of revolutionists as they sat in church meetings or marched in the streets for freedom and desegregation. Many had their roots grounded in hymnals, spirituals, gospel, and rhythm and blues, with lyrics adapted to reflect current challenges and goals. Singing groups such as the Freedom Singers from Albany, Georgia, and the Staple Singers from Chicago, Illinois, would travel throughout the country and introduce freedom songs to activists nationwide. The Freedom Singers even toured to raise funds for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. We Shall Overcome was an unofficial anthem for the Civil Rights Movement. It was first sung by tobacco workers on strike in Charleston, South Carolina. The song has also been used around the world by civil rights movements in China, South Africa, and Ireland. • 5. Accountability in Nursing Introduction Responsibility is defined as the reliability, dependability, and the obligation to accomplish work , responsibility also includes each person s obligation to perform at an acceptable level, the level that the person has been educated (Kelly Heidenthal, 2003, p. 268). Accountability is defined as, being responsible and liable for actions or failure of actions of oneself or others in the context of delegation (NCSBN, 2009). This is in reference to the nurse s legal liability for the actions taken and patient outcomes. Accountability and responsibility are different, as responsibility belongs to the person doing the task and accountability belongs to the person who assigned the task. The nurse is both accountable for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the legal liability the practitioner owes to the patient. By accepting the responsibility to perform a task the practitioner must ensure the task is performed competently at least to the standard of the ordinarily competent practitioner in that type of task. If a practitioner such as a registered nurse should delegate a task, then that practitioner must be sure that the delegation is appropriate. This means that the task must be necessary; and the person performing the delegated task, for example a HCA, must understand the task and how it is performed, have the skills and abilities to perform the task competently and accept responsibility for carrying it out One common mistakes exhibited by professionals in the field is delegation of duties by persons. Nurses should be wary of delegating duties to health care assistant because nurses should be aware of the abilities of the person with whom he or she is delegating duties. This is to minimize any chance of poor service delivery. Poor patient attendance by a person tasked with the duty at the time of delivery will extend the liability to the nurse delegating duties. Accountability of nurses is clearly pinpointed and well within the realm of law. A nurse is accountable to all the patients he or she is expected to attend to. Such accountability as underlined by common law helps promote safety of all patients. Accountability to the profession is one other important aspect that provides an ... MMA or Mixed martial arts is a full contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and grappling skills, both standing and on the mat, from a selection of other combat sports. Numerous mixed style contests were held throughout Europe, the Pacific Rim, and Japan during the early 1900s. The combat sport of vale tudo that came from Brazil from the 1920s was brought to the U.S by the Gracie family in 1993 with the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship . Another early example of mma was Bartitsu, which Edward Barton Wright founded in London in 1899. Combining jujutsu, judo, boxing, canne de combat and savate, Bartitsu was the first martial art known to have combined Asian and European fighting styles, and which saw MMA style competitions throughout England, pitting Japanese and European champions against representatives of various European wrestling styles. In Japan the contests were known as merikan, from the Japanese slang for American . These contests were fought under a variety of rules including points decision, knockdowns, and victory via submission or knockout. As the admiration of professional wrestling waned after World War I it split into two genres: shoot , in which the fighters really competed, and show , which changed into modern professional wrestling. In 1963, Judo Gene Lebell fought the professional boxer Milo Savage in a no holds barred fight. Lebell won by a rear naked choke, leaving Milo Savage unconscious. In the late 1960s to early 1970s, the theory of combining multiple martial arts was popularized in the west by Bruce Lee his method of Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee thought that the best fighter is not a Boxer, Karate or Judo man. The best fighter is someone who can adapt to any style, to be formless, to adopt an individual s own style and not following the system of styles. The Declaration endows the indigenous peoples with basic human rights as other people. I am happy for indigenous peoples and grateful for the United Nations efforts. On the other hand, I felt sorry for our behaviors and words. Gender Criticism and The Turn of the Screw by Henry James Gender Criticism and The Turn of the Screw The Turn of the Screw by Henry James continues to stir up an immense amount of controversy for such a short novel. Making a definite, educated decision on the actual truth considering the countless inquiries that develop while reading this story proves more difficult than winning a presidential election. That being understood, taking one particular side on any argument from a close reading of the story seems impossible, because the counter argument appears just as conceivable. Any side of the controversy remains equally disputable considerably supported by textual evidence from the novel. It is a story predominantly populated by people of the lower class, living servants like Mrs. Grose and a governess, which is our narrator, and the not so living servants like Miss Jessel and Quint. It is interesting to see how throughout the novel the Governess is proud to place herself slightly above the other servants, just as Mrs. Grose places Miss Jessel above Quint, however the fact of the matter was that to the rest of society, these people were all considered to be on the same bottom level of the socio economic ranking at the time. Robbins brings up an interesting idea in his criticism that Henry James is trying to explain the standpoint of society throughout the novel, which is that society felt that servants were not meant to be part of real society but were meant to just blend into the background and do their job without really being noticed or acknowledged. He basically uses the ghosts as symbols, even reminders of the fact that the governess is just like them, in the way that she is below most of society since she is an upper class servant, and is therefore invisible and something less than [a] human being (336). The housemaids, the dairywoman, the gardener, and an old pony were all said to be equivalents to each other, therefore making these servants comparable to a pony, which is definitely not making them on the same level as other human beings, let alone those of a higher class. Music is seen and experienced in various spaces based on interactions at a certain time between agents and the place. Quite honestly, people have difficulty keeping up with themselves much less anyone else. In fact, if you are not in their face on a constant basis, you will be largely forgotten. You complete your work with no problems. Everything gets done, and there are no problems. For this, you need to make sure that you are on their radar. Avoid repetition of your past achievements, you don t want to become old news. Focus on recent achievements Contribute to conversations by asking good questions Work on confidence to speak up when you have something relevant to other people What are you working on? don t say not much Wrong answer: not much Right answer: I am working on X to solve Y problem. Disk Cache Optimization Using Compressed Caching Technique Disk Cache Optimization using Compressed Caching Technique Maheshwar Sharma Gaurav Rawat, Himanshu Banswal, Naman Monga Department of Computer Science, BVCOE, GGSIP University, New Delhi, India ______________________________________________________________________________ Abstract In this paper we have discussed about the cache and various mapping technique. Then we shift our focus on compressed caching which is the technique that tries to decrease paging request from secondary storage. We know that there is a big performance gap in accessing the primary memory (RAM) and secondary storage (Disk). The Compressed caching technique intercepts the pages to be swapped out, compresses them and stores them in pool allocated in RAM. Hence it tries to fill the performance gap by adding new level to virtual memory hierarchy. This paper analyze the performance of virtual memory compression. Further to avoid various categories of cache misses we discuss different types of cache technique to achieve higher performance. Lastly we discuss few open and challenging issues faced in various cache optimization techniques. Keywords Cache mapping technique, Cache optimization, Virtual Memory, Zswap, Zbud , LZO, Frontwrap, limit hit I. INTRODUCTION Basically, cache is the smallest and fastest memory component in the hierarchy. It is aimed to bridge the gap between the fastest processor to the slowest memory components at a reasonable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will observe the students in my small group center to determine if they are meeting the objective. I will give specific verbal feedback about what they need to work on and what they are doing well. For example, if students are not using complete sentences, I will ask the students how they could make that into a complete sentence. I will ask students if they are using a capital letter and a period in each sentence as well. I will collect their worksheets to understand how they did with the objective and provide feedback on their ideas. How will you follow up on behavior expectations and how well you are engaging learners? Students will be intellectually engaged through the prompts that are given to create their complete sentences about being president of the U.S. This also allows students to really think about what they could do if they were the president and allows room for brainstorming and the imagination. They will also work together with their peers to identify two facts about each of the two presidents we are learning about. I will then provide further information on the two presidents by having students listen to the facts. I will communicate expectations by verbally telling students what they will be doing and the instructions of the lesson activity. I will follow up on behavior expectations by having students who are being disrespectful or not listening to take a break or to sit next to me at the table. After the student is ready to learn, they will be allowed to come back to the table with the group on continue on their worksheet. Symptoms And Treatment Of Chest Pain Chest Pain Chest pain is defined as a general term for any dull, aching pain in the thorax, usually referring to that of acute onset, which is often regarded as being myocardial in origin unless proven otherwise (McGraw Hill n.d.). Chest pain is a warning to seek medical attention and can be caused by many reasons. Serious causes for chest pain include: Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS): New onset angina, accelerating or crescendo angina and prolonged angina or coronary insufficiency, non ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Typical features of cardiac chest pain is 1.) located under the breastbone or at least some of the pain is situated in this area, 2.) other features include provocation by exercise or stress and 3.) relief by rest or nitroglycerin. A balance sheet with no debt and cash in excess of total liabilities limits the downside risk. Despite insider buying, recent poor performance has kept the stock price at a very low level; an examination of valuation multiples and a DCF analysis imply a 50 70% upside. Although it suffered poor performance in the wake of large inventory carryover following the 2013 holiday season, LeapFrog s management team has demonstrated that the company has great potential as a children s educational entertainment company. LeapFrog entered the 2014 holiday season with a very strong product lineup. Its three major products, the LeapPad 3, LeapTV, and the LeapBand, all won awards from Dr. Toy, and LeapTV and LeapBand have no significant direct competition. While the company operates in a competitive industry with relatively high capital intensity, it has a balance sheet with no debt and very high cash reserves. Despite these strengths, the company is trading at very low multiples. Insiders clearly agree that the stock is undervalued, as the CEO, CFO, and an independent director all purchased shares in early November at prices comparable to current ones. • 20. Billy Collins Introduction To Poetry Analysis is tie the poem to a chair with rope and torture a confession out of it. They begin beating it with a hose to find out what it really means. Introduction to Poetry has irregular meter with some lines using iambic pentameter. It is 16 lines made of 7 stanzas, written in free verse with no set rhyme scheme. This allows the poet to use a variation of styles and tactics to express the idea of the poem. The author, Billy Collins is an American poet, who served two terms as Poet Laureate of the United Stated and has been an educator most of his life. He is currently a Professor of English at Lehman College in New York. This information is important in understanding Introduction to Poetry, because it is written from the perspective of a teacher explaining to his students, how poetry should be examined, something Collins has firsthand knowledge of. Introduction to Poetry compares and contrasts how the poet wants his students to approach poetry, to the unforgiving nature of their examination, which distorts the intended experience of the poem. The title sets the scholastic tone. Introduction to Poetry is a course you could find in any college catalogue, confirming theeducational theme. The word introduction, could also be seen as a subtle hint of the personification to come at the end of the poem. In each of the first five stanzas, Collins explains how he wants his students to experience poetry through the senses. In the first stanza learn the speaker and the subject of the poem and are asked to examine poetry through sight. The speaker is a teacher, who is trying to show his students various methods of examining poetry to find it s meaning. The speaker asks the students to take a poem and not read it, but hold it up to the light like a color slide. A color slide is a small square of cardboard with a film image in the center that can be put in a projector and viewed on a screen when light is passed through it. This simile compares a poem to a film transparency, suggesting the need to shed light on the subject to see the images within it. Stanza 2 is one line of iambic tetrameter which is convieniently used in the only stanza that references sound. Here Collins uses the metaphor of a poem being like a bee hive ... The first wave feminism was mostly about legal issues, specifically woman s suffrage, or the right to vote. Before women could even think about changing the government policies, they had to raise awareness. While some acts may have been passed, the feminist movement did not truly start until 1848 with the Seneca Falls Convention. However, this conference was unlike others in that the focus of discussion wasn t how to eliminate this practice, but rather, whether it should be eliminated at all (Goldberg 121). She further notes that the the inability of children below a certain age to provide informed consent, their vulnerability provides a potentially compelling basis for denouncing the practice of FGC (Shell Duncan 4). This is exactly the kind of evidence that the anti FGC campaign presents to criticize the practice. They claim that especially since girls are at an age when they cannot give their consent, FGC is a fundamental violation of their human rights (Boyle 270). As Americans, it is easy for us to take an ethnocentric view on FGC. When we hear of any practice where part of a girl s genitalia is removed, it sounds horrifying. We take this position naturally because the practice of FGC is unknown to us; it is something we do not understand and therefore we can easily condemn it. We hear that this procedure takes place in Africa, Indonesia and The Middle East. Since we deem these countries third world, we assume these people are un educated, ignorant and need our (America s) help, to eradicate the tradition of FGC. Many believe that Female Genital Cutting is an archaic tradition supported by male dominated societies to keep women in their subservient roles. However, if we examine this procedure closer, one will find many parallels with Western cultures and an extreme hypocrisy with this reasoning. Hierarchical linear modeling could be used to follow the pattern of increase or decrease in an individual over time. Correlation methods have both their advantages and disadvantages. First, the correlation test is that responses can be graphed and interpreted as positive showing that with more training short term can improve, or vice versa. One other possibility is that the slope will neither go positive of negative; this would indicate that the scale score has nor relationship with the mnemonic program. I see occupational therapy as helping people achieve daily freedom and making attainable goals to improve their physical and mental health while providing a professional relationship to encourage trust and reliability throughout treatment. This could be done through the development of governmental regulations, bureaucratic observation, and the erosion of traditional values (Beck, Lash Giddens, 1997). New thought processes and the increase in the application medicine and technology have played important roles in the concept of rationalism (Bilton et al, 2002). The character of modern society could be defined by rationalism (Macionis Plummer, 2012: 123); this can be clearly seen in the South African rational social organization context from hunter gatherer days to modern day society. An example of this would be how the essence of time has changed within society. In traditional hunter gatherer societies, like The San and Zulu clans , before technological inventions such as the clock was introduced, people used to base their time on the sun and moon s position as well as seasons to allocate their time in regions and activities in order to conduct their livelihood (South Africa African Religions, 1996). However, in modern day society, owing to the clock invention, scheduled activities/events are precisely on the hour and minute (Macionis Plummer, 2012: 123). Thus, modern society has allowed individuals to be more efficient, by limiting time constraints through technology and infrastructure and has greatly improved the livelihoods of people, owing to better healthcare and institutions which affectively address ...
