Essay on Culture and Race Awareness
What Are Infants Learning about Race? A Look at a Sample of Infants from Multiple Racial
Groups (Njoroge, Benton, Lewis, and Njoroge N., 2009). Infant Mental Health Journal, Vol. 30(5),
549 567 (2009). Author s credentials combined are from various universities and a hospital within
the United States. The purpose of the research was to obtain more knowledge regarding the
significance of culture and raceon the social development of children. A historical theoretical
framework of child development combined present studies to analyze how the conveyance of
culture and race affect the emergent child. Phenotype toys were presented to infants and children to
test their reactions during play. The dependent variable was the... Show more content on

and two fair. One pair of fair skin dolls characterized the White race doll and the bronzed skin

Questions presented to older children ( 24 months) were revised from those asked in the Clark

What Is The Rhetorical Analysis Of Bluefin Tuna With The...
Dear reader,
In preparing to write this analysis, I pondered on how I could exploit each rhetorical analysis within
my advertisement. Understanding these devices enables me to then structure and organize my
arguments around this idea. In order to get started with my analysis I first pondered what is the
thesis, and what is the overall argument the WWF (World Wildlife) organization presents with
having a Bluefin Tuna with the face of a panda. As I kept evaluating the advertisement other
questions came to mind such as who is their target audience and why do they arrange the ad by
presenting it with a close up shot of a Bluefin Tuna with the face of a panda leading a school of
fish. There s also a question at the bottom right corner of the ad to get their point across asking
would you care more if it were a panda .
I found that the key to answering those questions is understanding why the organization chooses
to present the ad the way they does tying it in with their quote. They relate the extinction of the
two animals, making the reader feel guilty because they understand the inverse relationship of
sympathy towards the two animals the world has. Guilt is one of the stronger human emotions,
and the organization realize that, and use it to get people to care. On top of making the reader
feel guilty, all of the colors in the ad are dark and gray based which gives a sad and gloomy
ambience, and contributes greatly to the guilt trip conveyed to the reader.
I also found a new

Discussion Of Virtue In Plato s Meno
During this week s intro to Plato s Meno and the idea of inputting a portion of the first few pages
to improve life I stumbled across an interesting topic. This was what I call differences in species
and matter or like Sacrates described it by asking, ... you think it is only in the case of virtue that
there is one for a man, another for a woman and so on. (2). There, we can see that he wants to make
sure that Meno knows that virtueis no different for man than for a female than for a child.
Therefore, this becomes the first anti racial argument that was established. They talk about how
bees have different attributes, this being my state of matter, from one another, yet because they
are all bees, the same specie, we call them and categorize them as bees and nothing else. If that is
the case, we are all humans. Life can be better if we avoid an everyday pre judgment state... Show

Nevertheless, I went with my day with that in mind and it was surprisingly a good experience. I
met a couple of people that I would ve judged immediately and provably never speak to them
because they seem homosexual; yet when I started talking to them I found out we are not that
different. They were incredibly funny and not to say real good people. If I wouldn t had talked
to them like I did with no pre judgement I wouldn t have met this two incredible people. I have
always avoided and felt distanced to people that are homosexual; yet I had never given the
opportunity to any of them to actually know them and give a better judgment out of that. After
seeing this result in only one day of my life and seeing how people are not really what they seem
all the time I can certainly say that for a better life a non pre judgmental attitude towards the world

Embryonic Research
Many women are eager to become a mother, but infertility prevents some women from satisfying
this need. However, modern biotechnologies combined with changed norms of culture now provide
them reproductive choices such as in vitro fertilization. In order to develop these reproductive
choices, we need to research on living human embryo. Because its procedures terminate the life of
embryo, embryonic research stirs up public attention on its morality. Society questions if these
methods are morally right. Do they violate the meaning of personhood and life? Do we kill a
human when we research the embryos? These questions are asking our foundation of morality. We
must be cautious and avoid any logical fallacies when we answer them. Using... Show more content

In this essay, Gorovitz points out several logical fallacies in embryonic research opponent
essays, including Kass . For instance, one of his arguments is that opposing essays usually use
slippery slope arguments, stating that starting of artificial insemination would lead us to social
disaster (117). He argues that the slippery slope arguments are not valid in this discussion
because they never provide any rational evidences why we cannot stop after we start down this
path. Gorovitz claims that Collectively we have significant capacity to exercise judgment and
control (118) so the practice of artificial insemination will not lead us to the disaster. There are
few more ill logics in Kass and other opposing essays that Gorovitz has pointed out. Ironically,
however, logical fallacies he uses to attack his opponents also appear in his essay too.
Another Gorovitz s important argument is the argument against Kass statement, The human embryo
is not mere meat; it is not just stuff; it is not a thing (Kass 102). Gorovitz argues that according to
Kass statement, human cadavers which are also not mere meat, not just stuff, not the thing, should
be protected from being used for research purpose too. But since it is acceptable to use human
cadavers in research, in medical education, and in organs transplant, Gorovitz claims that these
using of cadavers justify using of embryos as well. In this comparison,

Many would argue that it is virtually impossible to write a dissertation on Bodybuilding pondering
the question how much can you write about hoisting heavy metal plates? after all It s not rocket
science, however there is a lot more to bodybuilding than meets the eye, for example the vocabulary
that may seem like a foreign language with phrases such as pyramid training, negatives,
periodization, instinctive training and spotting. Not to mention the hundreds of unique exercises,
programs and workouts, suddenly the world of bodybuildingbecame a lot more complicated.

Eugene Sandow, born 1867 in Prussia by the name Friedrich Muller, changed this perception of not

to his immense strength but also an aesthetic comparable to a modern bodybuilder.
Sandow was an exhibitionist who often stood posing in glass cases wearing nothing but a fig leaf

Bunker Mexico
What is also intriguing about Bunker s study of Mexico is that the changes that were being
accepted by the Mexican population were very often complete contradictions to what was
considered traditionally Mexican. Not only does this stand in complete opposition to what was seen
in Karush s Argentina, but in Mexicothe constant reworking of consumer goods and the texts used
to sell them... generated the cultural meaning that provided an identity for both the self and the
world around them. (Bunker 97) Once again, Mexico and Argentina could not be any different

Each author in his or her own way masterfully employs images in order to better support their
overall claims. Within her text, Workers Go Shopping, Milanesio expertly employs multiple photos
of Argentinians moving about their daily lives to illustrate how the importation of western culture
so greatly affected the emerging middle, and working class consumers. This gives great backing to
her thesis of how the emerging working class so greatly affected the transformation of Argentina
into a modern 20th century nation. Photos of the Argentinian people enjoying modern luxuries like
dance halls and vacations to the beach, are accompanied by advertisements from magazines and
street billboards which further illuminate the consumer culture which had engulfed the nation by
mid century. Milanesio also employs images to illustrate how the importation of western culture
also propagated gender roles for not only women, but men as well. Documents taken directly from
Argentinian media of the day can be seen encouraging women to aspire for beauty, but also
submissiveness. The propagation of the housewife myth, visible here in the Argentinian media, was
a very prevalent force in the society of the United States at this time and can be assumed to have
been heavily influenced by their neighbors to the north. Ads directed to women for sewing
machines and kitchen appliances were mirrored by ones pointed to men which embedded ideals of
masculinity and hard work. These advertisements not only encouraged an overall image of what
Argentinian people should aspire to, but also expanded the consumer market, thereby promoting
consumerism. These photographs of Argentinians enjoying the newfound luxuries of modernity
and consumer society gives great backing to Milanesio s thesis of how the

The Effect Of Graffiti On The Berlin Wall
Graffiti is something that nearly every place in the world has to deal with. Graffiti can range from
anything, it can be something that could be considered a beautiful mural, a gang tag claiming
territory for a particular gang, or just a personal tag someone decides to leave behind. In order to
fully understand graffitiand the messages behind it, it is essential to know many facts involving
graffiti. It is integral to know the time period when graffiti first showed up, how the intent or
meaning of graffiti has changed, how graffiti is on a global scale, political messages behind
graffiti, and finally how vandalismand graffiti are treated as crimes. With all these facts in mind,
anyone will be able to comprehend graffiti on a deeper level... Show more content on

One very widely known example of this is the graffiti that used to be part of the Berlin Wall. The
western side was covered with graffiti, as people from West Germany wanted to express their
ideas about the wall. The graffiti on the Berlin Wall criticized and ridiculed the eastern German
government. When discussing the graffiti on the Berlin Wall, it is neither representative of
gangs claiming territory nor of a particular style that is striving to be considered art. The graffiti
on the Berlin Wall is solely representative of feelings that people wanted to convey in politics and
in a very different world. In such a complicated political matter, one of the ways citizens wanted
to voice their opinions in politics was through graffiti. In fact, according to an article discussing
the impacts of the Berlin Wall, The graffiti on the Berlin Wall has come to represent freedom of
censorship, particularly from the East German government, unity in a people torn apart by war,
and the fall of the Iron Curtain that divided Western Europe and the Soviet Eastern Europe.
Through this medium artists have impacted world politics and helped to rebuild a nation into the
united, developed state that has an influential role in the international community today (Graffiti
on the Berlin Wall). This quote discusses the socio political impact that the graffiti on the Berlin
Wall had. With this in mind, it is easily understandable that graffiti has the ability to influence or
sway politics. In recent times, graffiti has had more and more of an impact on politics, as it is
something that allows any person to convey their political beliefs to a population of people who
otherwise would not have had a point of view of a particular ideology. This is demonstrated by the
graffiti that was on the Berlin Wall, which is why graffiti has a political meaning in the modern

Working Title: Examining the History of Standardized Tests in Higher Education through a Critical
Race Lens and Analyzing Predictors of Graduate School Success among African Americans
Theoretical Framework and Proposed Research Study
The theoretical framework chosen to guide my research in analyzing predictors of success in higher
education among African Americanstudents is Critical Race Theory (CRT), with an emphasis in
education. Critical Race Theory in Education (CRTE) evolved from CRT, which is derivative of
Critical Legal Studies (CLS), a 1970 s movement which sought to expose and challenge the
views that legal reasoning was neutral, value free, and unaffected by social, and economic
relations, political forces, or culture phenomena (Brown Jackson, 2013, p. 9). CLS scholars
successfully confirmed that personal biases of judges compromised verdicts in legal cases,
claiming that America s legal system only reinforces an oppressive social order benefiting the
dominant race more than the oppressed race (Brown Jackson, 2013). CRTE scholars is indebted
to CRT scholars (which is indebted to CLS scholars), thus scholars of CRTE should be well versed
in the history of CRT (and CLS).
History of Critical Race Theory
CRT emerged because of the Supreme Court and federal courts unconstitutional decisions in legal
cases involving discrimination against minorities (Brown Jackson, 2013). Brown and Jackson
(2013) elucidated a fundamental standpoint of

Frederick Douglass And His Life
Frederick Douglass believed that all people were born equal, but he also believed that humans were
not just automatically born free. He deduced that man has the innate instinctive ability to mold
themselves into whoever they wanted to become. So, naturally self improvement and education
were two crucial aspects of Frederick s life. To Douglass the most horrific thing about slaverywas
the fact that slaves were totally and completely precluded from and form of education, which
prevented them from improving themselves. Douglass worked exceedingly hard to obtain an
education in order to ultimately become a free man. Although he still had to physically escape
slavery his education played a vital role in his journey to freedom. Frederick... Show more content

Only when he witnessed the whipping of his Aunt Hester did he truly realize what true suffering
really was. That event definitely desensitized Douglass to the dehumanization that slaves were
subjected to. His personal introduction to affliction was when he was sent to work for Edward
Covey. However, it was the time spent with Covey that Frederick learned to overcome suffering.
Edward Covey was a poor man with a nasty reputation when it came to the treatment of slaves.
Slave owners give Covey their slaves for one year, during which he breaks the slaves while using
them as free labor on his land. (sparknotes.com). Frederick recalled his time spent with Covey as
being the hardest time he had ever spent as a slave. Douglass was worked to exhaustion and
weakened by Coveys harsh punishments. The more Frederick was dehumanized by Covey the
more he lost his drive, desire to learn, and natural liveliness. Douglass even contemplated
committing suicide or even killing Covey, but both thoughts terrified him beyond belief. Covey
lived on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay. It was a frequent thing for ships to pass by his house.
To Douglass the ships with their beautiful white sails symbolized freedom. Douglass recalled
standing on the bank and speaking aloud to the ships, asking them why they should be free and he
enslaved. (sparknotes.com). He begged for Gods deliverance and vowed to

Worthington On Forgiveness
FORGIVENESS Throughout life everyone has been in a situation where they were offended or
they have offended someone else. Therefore, forgiving someone is therapeutic for the victim, and
the offended. However, when someone is wronged, justice is what they seek. On the contrary, when
people feel pain from being wronged, they experience an injustice gap. Worthington defines
injustice gap as, the difference between the way the person would like a transgression to be
resolved, and the way things are perceived to be currently (Worthington Jr, 2005, pg. 121).
Furthermore, Worthington talks about two types of forgivenessto alleviate destructive responses.

The Role of Television on Childhood Violence Essay
The Role of Television on Childhood Violence
What does the world look like these days? It often seems like everywhere one looks, violence is
there. We see it on the streets, back alleys, school, and even at home. The last of these is a major
source of violence. In many peoples living rooms there sits an outlet for violence that often goes
unnoticed. It is the television, and the children who view it are often hypnotized by action that
takes place in it.
Violence is the use of one s powers to inflict mental or physical injury upon another (Webster,
659). Research shows that television is definitely a major source of violent behavior. Media has
been considered by Ciony C. Gonzales as #8230;the most dominant art form #8230;. (1984, ... Show

The children find the violent characters on television fun to imitate. Children do imitate the
behavior of models such as those portrayed in television, movies, etc. They do so because the ideas
that are shown to them on television are more attractive to the viewer than those the viewer can
think up himself. (Langone,98). Children like the violence in television because it is able to be
more exciting and enthralling than the violence that is normally viewed on the streets.
Aggression is not the only issue involved. Statistics show that children who spend more time
watching violent TV programming are rated more poorly by their teachers, rated more poorly by
their peers, and have few problem solving skills.
Another research among U.S. children discovered the differences between children who watch a
lot of violent television and those who don t. The results were that the children who watched
more violent television were more likely to agree that it s okay to hit someone if you re mad at
them for a good reason. These children may become less bothered by violence and see nothing
wrong with it. The other group learned that problems can be solved passively, through discussion
and authority (Cheyney 46).
As you can see, television violence can disrupt a child s learning and thinking ability which will
cause life long problems.
Not only does television violence affect the child s youth, but it can also affect his or her adulthood.

The Importance Of Minority Rights
All human beings are entitled to equality and justice through our legal system and the state must
accommodate to the rights of the minority groups. Some minority rights seem to conflict with
liberal rights, for an example forcing women to stay home. (Freedman, 30 October 2017). In this
essay, I will argue that the state should not endorse rightsthat infringes with the equality of the
rights of a minority, therefore inhibiting the state s ability to treat all of its citizens with equal
concern and respect. Bill 62 and African Americans are two examples of the majority not being
tolerant of the minorities rights. Achieving equality for all citizens in a society requires granting
special rights to minorities in a liberal state. Liberal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also believe that certain parts of the world practice the religion minorities are practicing and
they can practice there. They are not open to viewing the religion or rights of minority groups. A
state ran by a majority could very easily use power they don t have against the minority rights. An
example of the government misusing their power is the history of African American being used
involuntarily as slaves and prevented from integrating into the institutions of the majority culture
through racial segregation (Kymlicka 360). Africa American may have the greatest injustices of all
the ethnocultural groups, mainly because of their historical mistreatment by the majority. Denial of
the rights of certain minority groups cause conflict between groups and the rights of the minorities.
Equality within a society means the delivering of minority rights. Multiculturalism in fact fails
because everyone does not share a common set of beliefs and interest as the rest of the citizens.
Since a society already has an official language and culture, the state still isn t entitled to force this
on the citizens. It is up to them which culture they choose to practice. Over the past years, the
difficulty for the state to given minorities rights have decreased in the sense that there are
awareness groups to make the minority groups more

Adolf Hitler s Influence On His Deeds During World War...
Hitler
Adolf Hitler has the image of having a ruthless evil character from his deeds during world war
two. However evidences show that he was not a terribly evil person, but a normal person with
large ambitions. Canadian prime minister Mackenzie King wrote in his journal after meeting with
Adolf Hitler that, he is really one who truly loves his fellow men, and his country, and would make
any sacrifice for their good...a man of deep sincerity and a genuine patriot, which all shows he was
naturally a good person with a genuine ambition of wanting to create a better environment for
himself and the country. In January 1933, Adolf Hitlercame to power in Germany and immediately
began to challenge the Treaty of Versailles and adapt an aggressive foreign policy, which led to war
.
It is not hard to blame Adolf Hitler for starting the war, however looking at evidences show that he
was naturally a good person that was not taught or at the very least did not bother to realize the
importance of learning to control his ambitions to not reach the level of selfish greediness. Hence
ambition is needed to proceed forward but the control of it must be taught to refrain from these
event occurring.
Napoleon
Napoleon was very ambitious to the point where it was greedy as shown in history books of his
many battles. The historians hold divergent views regarding the motives behind these battles.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Body Dysmorphic Disorder Body Dysmorphic Disorder or BDD is something that has been
rather controversial in the past. Is it something that could be linked to society as a whole? Could
it even be something that has been implanted in us at an early age? Probably so, studies have
shown that in the past that BDD can be brought about by the stigmas that are placed on us when
we are young by the media. Some would say that this phenomenon is something that could be
completely avoided if we just take away what it means to be perfect in the world s eyes today.
Perfection is something that we have been taught to strive for since we were still in our mother s

In teenagers, BDD will eventually take over their life. Teens are influenced by something called
the buy me, wear me, be me phenomenon. This message is put out by the stars in Hollywood, as
well as all over the world in things like New York Fashion Week, and fashion shows all around
the world featuring celebrities that are generally characterized as flawless. Everyone wants the
celebrity body that has been photo shopped to look absolutely perfect with nonexistent body fat.
This is something that needs particular attention especially when dealing with the puberty years
when the body is trying to make your body in to an adult with the voice changes, and the ever so
lovely, acne; this is when the teenager s life can begin to turn upside down. In teenage boys,
body image is something that is relatively the same. In boys, the problem is not only that they
are not thin enough for the outside world, there is also a problem with not being muscular
enough, spawning the disorder off of Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Muscle Dysmorphic Disorder,
or MDD. MDD is a disorder much like BDD; however, it focuses on the muscles only. This
disorder makes boys crave the body of the world s models. This need to look like a bodybuilder is
spawned by the media. When certain ads are on television, they make us feel like we could
ultimately achieve that same look as they have which in all reality, results like the one s shown on
television are not typical. This feeling makes teenage boys start eating larger portions of food and
start lifting more weights that could potentially injure him. Typically, feelings such as this make the
boy engage in potentially destructive activities such as engage in performance enhancing drugs.

As we sat in silence, I decided to break the awkwardness and introduced myself. After learning

The Vs. Teleological Defence
Given that evil and suffering exist within the world, there cannot exist an omnipotent, all loving,
perfect, ontologically separate God.
In the early 21st century much evil has risen, such as terrorism, poverty, convivial dispute and the
continual surge of natural disasters destroying land, homes and killing thousands of people. With all
of this famine humans are experiencing on a daily basis, it seems inconceivable that an omnipotent,
all loving, ontologically separate God can exist. Despite the theists arguments via the Freewill
and Teleological defence, both have many flaws and weaknesses due to the lack of supporting
evidence and on occasions contradicting the Christian religion itself. The only explanation that
acts as a strong asset for the co existence of God is the Transpersonal Solipsism ideology.
However, it still produces doubts on Gods existence being ontologically separate. The issue of
How can God exist when there is evil in the world is highly regarded as the strongest challenge
towards Gods existence, however moral evil, produced by humans, is a result of freewill, which
God granted all humans. If freewill is not a logical impossibility for man to choose good, then
there is no logical impossibility of man choosing good for every occasion. The fact that moral evil
does exist proves that humans are not perfect and if God is omnipotent and perfect, then a perfect
god should have made perfect things.
The dilemma of God has challenged both the theist and

Informative Essay On Donald Trump
Naomi Benford Thad Prater U.S. Government 124 December 2017Trump epitomizes Abuse of
Power The day of November 8th 2016 would be a day that changed the United States forever.
This was the day that Donald Trump, a professional and very much so emotional tweeter, was
elected as the 45th President of the United States. Commonly known as a business mogul, he is
also a reality TV star. A mogul is a very influential and powerful person in a business or industry.
A reality tv star is a person who has gained social recognition through their appearance on
television. Reality TV is supposedly an inside look into the un scripted documentary into the life of
someone. Donald John Trump was born in Queens New York on June 14, 1946. Donald Trump
stated that he was strongly influenced by his father in his decision to pursue the career of real
estate development, despite his degree in economics. He graduated from Wharton School of
Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. Donald Trump first became best known when he was
able to take an unprofitable hotel, revamp it, and then make huge profits. The Trump towerbrought
Donald national recognition. Donald Trump is known for his immature tweeting and controversial
decisions as the president of the United States. He is the reason that there are more hateful people
coming out in the US. He makes them believe that they can be more open and aggressive which
is not right. I believe that Donald Trump will be the reason or at least hold a key role in the
creation of World
2War III. There have been many occurrences that have had negative outcomes with Donald
Trump. He is very impulsive, overly dominant, and inconsiderate. There have been many instances
where Donald Trump has been accused of abusing his power. When Donald Trump was first
elected into office, on the same day of the beginning of his presidency period, he signed an
executive order that intended to dismantle the Affordable HealthCare Act, commonly known as
Obamacare. Donald Trump says that by doing this he will lower certain taxes but he was oblivious
to the fact that he was disassembling healthcare for almost 20 million people. He is an elderly

How does the temperature and the surface area to volume ratio of water affect the rate of water
evaporation?
We believe the rate of water evaporation is affected by the temperature and surface area to volume
ratio. The hotter the temperature of the water is, the faster it evaporates, while lower temperatures
slow down the process of evaporation. Also, the bigger the surface area is, the quicker water
evaporates, while water in containers with smaller surface areas take longer to evaporate. We
carried out two experiments to prove our claim.
One of the experiments we conducted was the temperature experiment, in which our independent
variable was temperature. First, we measured 100 milliliters in two beakers of the same size. We
put the first beaker on a hot plate with the setting on 2 for 22 minutes. When we took it off, there
were 83 milliliters left in the beaker, meaning 17 milliliters had evaporated. ... Show more content

In order to carry out this experiment, we had to go through the process of multiple steps. First, we
measured 100 ml of water in two different sized square containers. The bigger container had a
surface area of 225 centimeters squared, while the smaller container s surface area was 100 cmХ·.
Next, we put both containers under a heat lamp for an equal amount of time. Then we set the
containers aside. After 3 days, we revisited the containers and measured how much water had
evaporated. The bigger container had only 22 ml of water left, meaning 78 ml had evaporated in
the 3 days, while the smaller container still had 46 ml left, suggesting that 54 milliliters of water
had evaporated over the course of the 3 days. After recording our data, we came to the conclusion
that the bigger the surface area of the container is, the faster water evaporates, while water
evaporates slower in smaller surface

Hilton ITT Case Study Essay
1. Why might Bollenbach have opened his bidding for ITT at $55 per share? What was his likely
strategy?
The $55 value is on the lower range of the analyst eztimates, with a best guess estimate of $67.94.
Since the value of the stock had been below $45 for 4 months, the offer of 55 dollars represented
a 29% premium to investors. Bollenbach knew that management would be resistant of any
attempt to be acquired, regardless of price, because of failed previous attempts to negotiate a
friendly merger at year end 1996. The 55 dollar benchmark created an expectation for ITT
management to achieve that level, or higher and the premium is enough to demonstrate to
investors it is a real offer. Their support will be key as they will have a... Show more content on

Bollenbach knew that the next steps would be critical or the deal to go through. As such it was
necessary to first research the investors and arbiters to have better negotiation tactics when the time
comes. The resistant board of directors had not changed in the mean time and would likely resist
any offer, including the unlikely event of another contender entering bidding. If the price of the
stock fell below the $55 range, or the Board of Directors changed Bollenback would likely
aggressively negotiate with shareholders to close the deal as quickly as possible.
3. ITT s value has changed a lot over the recent events. Prior to any offer when ITT s stock was
trading at 43 dollars, the stand alone value of its equity was 16.4 billion dollars. With the 55
dollar offer to ITT, the company s value went up to approximately 21 billion. After the offer, the
stock was trading at $63.50, which gave the total equity a value of 24.2 billion dollars. With the
proposed trivesture proposal, the company would lose synergistic value as three separate
companies, compared to one large company. Examples of these include a number of overhead costs
which gain economies of scale. In addition, ITT likely has synergistic revenues coming from the
fact that it operates all three business segments. Analyst estimates indicate that the present value of
the synergies whichh ITT stands to loose with the proposed trivesture have a NPV between $900

Frankenstein Treatment Of Women Essay
The way in which author s choose to depict their characters can reveal a great deal about not only
the authors themselves but the society they lived in. In many works of British Gothic fiction,
women are often omitted from the story, depicted in a negative light, or underdeveloped and easily
forgotten. The novels Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis
Stevenson, and The Monk by Matthew Gregory Lewis, are not exception in their treatment of
women. The treatment of women in these novels reveals an underlying misogyny that ultimately
reduces women to no more than objects. Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, is odd in that in spite of
being written by a woman, the women of the story are subjected to the same treatment as the
women of the other novels mentioned. One would think that as a woman, Shelly would want to
empower her female characters in a way that is possible in fiction that may not be in real life. Both
female characters, Elizabeth and Justine, are forgettable at best and the way they are introduced to
us is rather telling.
Among these there was one which attracted my mother far above all the rest. She appeared of a
different stock. The four others were dark eyed, hardy little vagrants; this child was thin, and
very fair. Her hair was the brightest living gold, and despite the poverty of her clothing, seemed
to set a crown of distinction on her head. Her brow was clear and ample, her blue eyes cloudless,

Heinrich Himmler s Role In The Holocaust
When people are talking about who were the most evil people that were a part of Nazi Germany
and the Holocaust, Heinrich Himmler should be the first person that comes to mind. Heinrich
Himmler was one of the leading members of the German National Socialist party, or widely known
as the German Nazis. Himmler was the leader of many operations during his time in Nazi Germany,
with the Final Solution during the Holocaustbeing his most well known. Three reasons why people

arrangement, and leadership over it makes Himmler an important learning point during the

with the SS. The article called Heinrich Himmler by UXL Biographies states that Hitler assigned
Himmler the special task of building the SS into an organization of carefully selected men who
would become the leaders of a new German race ( Heinrich Himmler UXL Biographies). This

psychological debriefing . . . more of a moral maintenance intervention qua gesture of employer

What are some of the weaknesses?
I believe the strength of Davilly and Cotton was that they took the time to define and try to show
the differences between Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Critical Incident Stress Management
. As well as defining what psychology debriefing entails.
Their weakness would be it was how to read, it did not flow easy for the readers and somewhat
confusing. Also another weakness which was pointed out by Mitchell was that they did not seem to
do much deep research for other papers written on the topic.
5. How credible were the authors of each argument? Explain your answer.
Davilly Cotton when to detail on what psychological debriefing was and how there are many
different forms of it with: Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Critical Incident Stress
Management. Also how these two really kind of play hand in hand and might be the same thing.
Therefore it is hard to tell the difference between the two. They tried to break down how these two
systems work and the outcomes of such programs.
Mitchell was credible in from the first paragraph notes that In 1983 I wrote the first article ever

Olympic Stadium Controversy
Introduction
This controversy revolves around the stadium meant to be the host for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic
Games. With the preparations for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, one of the preparations
was to build a new stadium to host the games and in 2012, Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) won
the stadium commission through an international competition (Dezeen, 2015a). Soon after ZHA
bid won, they started work on the site and after two years, and after Japan had won the bid to
host the 2020 Olympics, the controversy began with the main argument against the project being
that the architectural design was over budgeted and that it could not be financially sustainable.
As a result, ZHA had to revise their design in 2014 with a new design that addressed the
previously voiced criticism. However, with criticism still raging on, Japan Sports Council (JSC)
canceled the firm s plans in July 2015, after Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe weighed into
the issue by announcing that the design plans will be scrapped as a result of spiraling costs and
that the project would be started from scratch. This issue ended up being referred to as the Tokyo

These cons, and I can only speak for myself, is why I personally like online shopping, but
unfortunately just as with traditional shopping, this method comes with its own set of pros and cons.
The main pro to online shopping is its convenience. Is the ability to shop for the best deals in a
much quicker fashion with just a few clicks. Unlike traditional shopping where you have to
memorize which store had what deal, with a mental note to go back to that particular store with
the risk of forgetting it all in the end. Shopping for the best deals is as easy as using a price match
or comparison website or search, or as having multiple tabs open, allowing you to browse and
shop at multiple stores at the same time, there even times that you can find the same item that is
available at the local store listed on the website but for a lower price. An extra bonus to this, is
once I ve found my deals for the items I m interested in buying, another plus is that I can save my
goods to a list or add my cart to wait until I m ready to make my purchase.
Another pro that online shopping offers that even I myself take advantage of is the option to have
items shipped to anywhere. When a special event such as a birthday, wedding, baby shower and
even Christmas comes around for my relatives that live in other states and or outside the country.

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Integration Of...
The discussion of a single currency for West African Countries has been going on for over a decade
now. The countries of West Africa are working towards achieving monetary and currency
integration by introducing a common currency called Ecoi throughout the West African Monetary

West Africa is the westernmost sub region of Africa which consists of 18 countries with a

Ambition is an eager, and sometimes insatiable desire to fulfill something in one s life; it is when
they seek something that is beyond them or their circumstance. In fact, ambition allows an
individual to look for significance in a life that is otherwise devoid of meaning. Moreover, it is a
prevalent force that harbours their accomplishments and considerably influences the outcomes in
their lives. Jamal Malik, the hero of the film, Slumdog Millionaire, effectively portrays this idea as

Moreover, he lives in a society where the predominant caste system inherently assigns each
individual with a predetermined role. Thus, children like Jamal, Salim, and their companion,

opportunities as regular children and their freedoms are regulated by the absent, yet restrictive
influence of the social system. It is absent because these kids lack the basic necessities to aid them

the other hand, the same system limits these kids by denying them access to resources that would

Cultural Values Of Athens
ATHENS IS THE PLACE TO BE!! Athens is an independent city state in ancient greece that has
many cultural values. Athens was formed of the Mycenaeans. The citystate of Athens is
independent because seas and mountains separate it from the other city states in ancient greece.
Athens is a well rounded city state that supports educations, military involvement, and government.
. To begin with, Athens educationwas extremely important. Only boy citizens attended private
schools and would learn about poetry, literature, math, and science from ages 6 17.This was
needed in order to become a citizen and carry out duties. As stated the ability to read and write was
important to all Athenian people , reading and writing was needed in order to be a citizen, and carry
out their duty.. (Document A). This quote explains that the citystate of Athens felt that it was
essential for men to be educated in order to be an important citizen within their culture. Also, as
part as the Athenian boys took part in sports. Athenians believed that it was important to not only
study subjects but also to have physical activity in order to have men with strong minds and bodies.
Additionally girls did not receive the formal education that the boys got, they were educated at

the old fashion fisticuffs. A war is being waged within the skinheadculture a war that has been
waged since the 1970s. A war between traditional skinheads and racist skinheads, the most notable
factions involved in the war are the S.H.A.R.P.S. or Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice
commonly referred to as SHARPS. They originated in New York but have membership in a
plethora of other American cities such as Atlanta, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, and Kansas City
among others. The SHARP organization numbers in the thousands with membership in several
other countries in South America such as Chile, and branches throughout the world in the United
Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, and even Malaysia. Rivaling this nation and its ideologies would be
the racist skinheads also known as White Power Skinheads. Although they have their own
branches a great number of these skinheads are Neo Nazis. It is because of the brutal tactics of
these far right militant skinheads the skinhead culture has been branded with a bad reputation by
the media. Because of white power skinheads everyone stereotypes all skinheads as racists.
Honestly even I used to think this way but once I read articles and learned for myself

Dante s Inferno Essay
Dante s Inferno
It was sometime in the middle of the 17th century that British cleric Thomas Fuller wrote, He that
falls into sin is a man; that grieves at it, is a saint; that boasteth of it, is a devil. If Fuller was right,
where does one place Dante, the pilgrim who bravely wandered where no man had wandered
before? Certainly, the sojourner precisely written by the poet of the same name was a man.
Certainly, also, he repented his sinful ways (how could one not after braving not only the depths of
Hell but later the stretches of Purgatory and the many waters of Heaven?), but he was no saint.
Indeed, Inferno itself can be easily construed as a boast of sorts made it through hell, met Lucifer,
bought the t shirt. But in reality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Canto 3, Dante is so overwhelmed by his surroundings that overcame all feeling in me [ln
135] and he faints, saying dramatically, I fell like one whom sleep is taking [ln 136]. Not much
later, in Canto 5, the traveling duo comes upon a pair of lovers, condemned to an eternity of
suffering due to a small case of incontinence. Dante is overcome with sympathy as he listens to
their story, and promptly blacks out again, this time with even more dramatic flair: for pity I
fainted as if I were dying, and I fell as a dead body falls [ln 141 142]. Before he hits the dust, he
manages to express his sympathy to Francesca, one of the lovers: Francesca, your sufferings make
me sad and piteous to tears [ln 116 117].
This sense of pity is an important indicator of his progress, or lack thereof, through Hell. At this, the
beginning of his journey, Dante identifies with the condemned and thus has not only sympathy, but
empathy toward them. He understands a life of sin and can picture himself in their place. As time
goes by and the pilgrim s journey continues, Dante gets hardened against the strife and pain
inflicted upon the sinners. Of course, seeing enough of anything begets tolerance, but in Dante s
case his lessening sympathy shows lessening empathy as well. His thoughts and ideals have
become progressively more pure and pious, and he s started to lose his identification with the life of
sin and contempt. Virgil encourages his displacement

The Political Spectrum Of South Africa
With the advent spread of the English language during the colonial conquests the world had
undergone a vast array of changes, and some of these changes that seems to have gone unnoticed
for some part is how deeply the English language has impacted and changed a country s identity
entirely. Then the question arises whether those changes are in fact beneficial or detrimental for
language acquisition and maintenance for future generations to come. This essay will focus on my
country of choice, South Africa, and will discuss how three different dimensions have been
impacted by the English language. I will first focus on the historical dimensions to gain a better
understanding of the circumstances within South Africa in the past and in today s context,
especially how the English language had arrived and completely shaped South Africa as a whole.
Furthermore, following the historical impact, this essay will go deeper into the political spectrum
of South Africa, and discuss how the country shifted from the Apartheid era to its contemporary
state. Lastly, I will discuss how the educational system has impacted the growing new generation
to get a clearer understanding of how the country has been changed to adapt to the more
globalised world that we live in now and will raise some questions about how language, being one
of the key aspects that makes us human, could be wilfully applied for coercion into a chosen form
of hegemony, and will thus demonstrate the importance of language in

I. Introduction The paper will be used to further explore intervention approaches and treatment
options for the client I did my case presentation on and also a process recording, Amanda. The
information presented about Amanda is information gathered during the intake assessment, family
discussions, and individual family sessions. The two theories that have been researched and will
be used throughout this paper are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the Structural Family
Therapy (SFT) because both theories are able to address the issues Amanda is presenting. These
theories will be critiqued based upon research in journal articles and readings from class. Then the
theories will be applied to Amanda s case based upon the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

That is, the nuclear family s relationship or lack of relationship to the extended family or the
community may play a huge part in functioning. Ackerman (1958) viewed family work as a
special method of treatment of emotional disorders based on dynamically oriented interviews
with the whole family. This looks at the who, what, where, when, why, and how of family. The
goal is to bring to the surface all the contributors (person or thing) of the issue and map out ways
to manage it. In family therapy, the clinician is able to see the role each member plays within the
family structure. The clinician can assist the family to develop a family tree to explore different
trends or discover unknown facts. For example, in developing this tree of people the family can
include cause of death, possible miscarriages, mental health diagnosis of members, illnesses, or any
other trend of interest. This can also promote family connectedness by contacting other members or
friends of the family to gather information. Structural Family Therapy can also promote a safe
environment for individuals to express concerns or feelings to family members. It can improve
communication, develop effective problem solving methods, explore values, and experiment with
new behaviors (Thayer 1982). The role of the clinician is to keep the sessions family focused. The
clinician must recognize who the identified patient is or the client the family system has

Life, Liberty, And The Pursuit Of The American Dream
According to historians, the American Dream can be expressed in a plethora of different ways
throughout history. Starting with the Puritans arriving in North America looking for religious
freedom, we now have the current man wanting to strike it rich. We all have our own perspective
on what we believe the current deposition has become. Have our values changed? Certainly! I
believe we have values now which are unnecessary compared to our ancestor s dreams. They
wish for things we take for granted in today s world: religious freedom, freedom of speech,
liberty. The Declaration of Independence lists, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness . This
shows our forefathers were already considering our actions. If they believe we can reach this goal,
we should be able to. Everyone has an equal opportunity to start the process towards their goals in
life.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people only focus on reaching their own goals. We need to come together as a whole and
help everyone reach theirs as well. Our success is only reflected from the work effort we put
forth. America has already set forth many rights in order to guide us along the way. All we need
to do after this is be willing to sacrifice our time and many things we love. This sounds like a
large price to pay but it will pay off in the long run. The pride Americans have in their country is
great, but their ambition to find their own pride in themselves is lacking. We need to find the
pride in ourselves in order to think we will achieve the American Dream. If we believe we are
going to achieve our dream then we will achieve them. For centuries, many people have ran to
America to escape from strict leaders, war, and no religious freedom. Some people take advantage
of others and try to take their wealth instead of earning it on their own. Some work hard to get
what they want and to feed their kids, other humans rely on food stamps to get by on

Aldo Leopold A Sand County Almanac

The Land Ethic Response
One of the penalties of an ecological education is that one lives alone in a world of wounds.
Much of the damage inflicted on land is quite invisible to laymen. An ecologist must either harden
his shell and make believe that the consequences of science are none of his business, or he must
be the doctor who sees the marks of death in a community that believes itself well and does not
want to be told otherwise, said by none other, Aldo Leopold. In A Sand County Almanac, Aldo
Leopold, an American environmentalist, brought a new idea to the environmentalist s table: land
ethic. His idea of a land ethic is a moral responsibility of humans to the natural Earth. Leopold s
idea has been discussed since the publication by a wide variety of people, from the public to
scholars. Since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coming from an uncultivated society, such as the one that brought farming and ranching to the
settlement of North America, humans have retained some sensitivity to environmental issues as
they derived their livelihood directly from the land. But with the advance to an urban or
metropolitan society, there has been a major disconnect between humanity and nature. Today s
urban society is provided with mowed parks, paved playgrounds, plush automobiles to move the
public around on asphalt roads, housing with automatically regulated heat and cooling, and
supermarkets with shopping carts and baskets, in which people can gather their food supplies
from orderly shelves and freezers. Aldo Leopold s land ethic term suggests that humans stop
treating the land as a mere object or a resource, like how the world does today. For Leopold, land
is not merely soil, like the public would think of today; land is a fountain of energy, flowing
through a circuit of soils, plants, and animals.

  • 2. Essay on Culture and Race Awareness What Are Infants Learning about Race? A Look at a Sample of Infants from Multiple Racial Groups (Njoroge, Benton, Lewis, and Njoroge N., 2009). Infant Mental Health Journal, Vol. 30(5), 549 567 (2009). Author s credentials combined are from various universities and a hospital within the United States. The purpose of the research was to obtain more knowledge regarding the significance of culture and raceon the social development of children. A historical theoretical framework of child development combined present studies to analyze how the conveyance of culture and race affect the emergent child. Phenotype toys were presented to infants and children to test their reactions during play. The dependent variable was the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One pair of fair skin dolls characterized the White race doll and the bronzed skin dolls symbolized the Black race doll. Questions presented to older children ( 24 months) were revised from those asked in the Clark (1947) and Horowitz (1938) studies. For instance, instead of asking the children to select from dolls that bore a strong resemblance to them or which doll they desired the best; Katz and Kofkin s (1997) questions included in this study were Are you a boy or girl? • 3. What Is The Rhetorical Analysis Of Bluefin Tuna With The... Dear reader, In preparing to write this analysis, I pondered on how I could exploit each rhetorical analysis within my advertisement. Understanding these devices enables me to then structure and organize my arguments around this idea. In order to get started with my analysis I first pondered what is the thesis, and what is the overall argument the WWF (World Wildlife) organization presents with having a Bluefin Tuna with the face of a panda. As I kept evaluating the advertisement other questions came to mind such as who is their target audience and why do they arrange the ad by presenting it with a close up shot of a Bluefin Tuna with the face of a panda leading a school of fish. There s also a question at the bottom right corner of the ad to get their point across asking would you care more if it were a panda . I found that the key to answering those questions is understanding why the organization chooses to present the ad the way they does tying it in with their quote. They relate the extinction of the two animals, making the reader feel guilty because they understand the inverse relationship of sympathy towards the two animals the world has. Guilt is one of the stronger human emotions, and the organization realize that, and use it to get people to care. On top of making the reader feel guilty, all of the colors in the ad are dark and gray based which gives a sad and gloomy ambience, and contributes greatly to the guilt trip conveyed to the reader. I also found a new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Discussion Of Virtue In Plato s Meno During this week s intro to Plato s Meno and the idea of inputting a portion of the first few pages to improve life I stumbled across an interesting topic. This was what I call differences in species and matter or like Sacrates described it by asking, ... you think it is only in the case of virtue that there is one for a man, another for a woman and so on. (2). There, we can see that he wants to make sure that Meno knows that virtueis no different for man than for a female than for a child. Therefore, this becomes the first anti racial argument that was established. They talk about how bees have different attributes, this being my state of matter, from one another, yet because they are all bees, the same specie, we call them and categorize them as bees and nothing else. If that is the case, we are all humans. Life can be better if we avoid an everyday pre judgment state... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were incredibly funny and not to say real good people. If I wouldn t had talked to them like I did with no pre judgement I wouldn t have met this two incredible people. I have always avoided and felt distanced to people that are homosexual; yet I had never given the opportunity to any of them to actually know them and give a better judgment out of that. After seeing this result in only one day of my life and seeing how people are not really what they seem all the time I can certainly say that for a better life a non pre judgmental attitude towards the world is ... However, modern biotechnologies combined with changed norms of culture now provide them reproductive choices such as in vitro fertilization. In order to develop these reproductive choices, we need to research on living human embryo. Because its procedures terminate the life of embryo, embryonic research stirs up public attention on its morality. Society questions if these methods are morally right. Do they violate the meaning of personhood and life? Do we kill a human when we research the embryos? These questions are asking our foundation of morality. We must be cautious and avoid any logical fallacies when we answer them. Using... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this essay, Gorovitz points out several logical fallacies in embryonic research opponent essays, including Kass . For instance, one of his arguments is that opposing essays usually use slippery slope arguments, stating that starting of artificial insemination would lead us to social disaster (117). He argues that the slippery slope arguments are not valid in this discussion because they never provide any rational evidences why we cannot stop after we start down this path. Gorovitz claims that Collectively we have significant capacity to exercise judgment and control (118) so the practice of artificial insemination will not lead us to the disaster. There are few more ill logics in Kass and other opposing essays that Gorovitz has pointed out. Ironically, however, logical fallacies he uses to attack his opponents also appear in his essay too. Another Gorovitz s important argument is the argument against Kass statement, The human embryo is not mere meat; it is not just stuff; it is not a thing (Kass 102). Gorovitz argues that according to Kass statement, human cadavers which are also not mere meat, not just stuff, not the thing, should be protected from being used for research purpose too. But since it is acceptable to use human cadavers in research, in medical education, and in organs transplant, Gorovitz claims that these using of cadavers justify using of embryos as well. Each author in his or her own way masterfully employs images in order to better support their overall claims. Within her text, Workers Go Shopping, Milanesio expertly employs multiple photos of Argentinians moving about their daily lives to illustrate how the importation of western culture so greatly affected the emerging middle, and working class consumers. This gives great backing to her thesis of how the emerging working class so greatly affected the transformation of Argentina into a modern 20th century nation. Photos of the Argentinian people enjoying modern luxuries like dance halls and vacations to the beach, are accompanied by advertisements from magazines and street billboards which further illuminate the consumer culture which had engulfed the nation by mid century. Milanesio also employs images to illustrate how the importation of western culture also propagated gender roles for not only women, but men as well. Documents taken directly from Argentinian media of the day can be seen encouraging women to aspire for beauty, but also submissiveness. The propagation of the housewife myth, visible here in the Argentinian media, was a very prevalent force in the society of the United States at this time and can be assumed to have been heavily influenced by their neighbors to the north. Ads directed to women for sewing machines and kitchen appliances were mirrored by ones pointed to men which embedded ideals of masculinity and hard work. These advertisements not only encouraged an overall image of what Argentinian people should aspire to, but also expanded the consumer market, thereby promoting consumerism. These photographs of Argentinians enjoying the newfound luxuries of modernity and consumer society gives great backing to Milanesio s thesis of how the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Graffiti can range from anything, it can be something that could be considered a beautiful mural, a gang tag claiming territory for a particular gang, or just a personal tag someone decides to leave behind. In order to fully understand graffitiand the messages behind it, it is essential to know many facts involving graffiti. It is integral to know the time period when graffiti first showed up, how the intent or meaning of graffiti has changed, how graffiti is on a global scale, political messages behind graffiti, and finally how vandalismand graffiti are treated as crimes. One very widely known example of this is the graffiti that used to be part of the Berlin Wall. The western side was covered with graffiti, as people from West Germany wanted to express their ideas about the wall. The graffiti on the Berlin Wall criticized and ridiculed the eastern German government. When discussing the graffiti on the Berlin Wall, it is neither representative of gangs claiming territory nor of a particular style that is striving to be considered art. The graffiti on the Berlin Wall is solely representative of feelings that people wanted to convey in politics and in a very different world. In such a complicated political matter, one of the ways citizens wanted to voice their opinions in politics was through graffiti. In fact, according to an article discussing the impacts of the Berlin Wall, The graffiti on the Berlin Wall has come to represent freedom of censorship, particularly from the East German government, unity in a people torn apart by war, and the fall of the Iron Curtain that divided Western Europe and the Soviet Eastern Europe. Through this medium artists have impacted world politics and helped to rebuild a nation into the united, developed state that has an influential role in the international community today (Graffiti on the Berlin Wall). This quote discusses the socio political impact that the graffiti on the Berlin Wall had. With this in mind, it is easily understandable that graffiti has the ability to influence or sway politics. In recent times, graffiti has had more and more of an impact on politics, as it is something that allows any person to convey their political beliefs to a population of people who otherwise would not have had a point of view of a particular ideology. This is demonstrated by the graffiti that was on the Berlin Wall, which is why graffiti has a political meaning in the modern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Working Title: Examining the History of Standardized Tests in Higher Education through a Critical Race Lens and Analyzing Predictors of Graduate School Success among African Americans Theoretical Framework and Proposed Research Study The theoretical framework chosen to guide my research in analyzing predictors of success in higher education among African Americanstudents is Critical Race Theory (CRT), with an emphasis in education. Critical Race Theory in Education (CRTE) evolved from CRT, which is derivative of Critical Legal Studies (CLS), a 1970 s movement which sought to expose and challenge the views that legal reasoning was neutral, value free, and unaffected by social, and economic relations, political forces, or culture phenomena (Brown Jackson, 2013, p. 9). CLS scholars successfully confirmed that personal biases of judges compromised verdicts in legal cases, claiming that America s legal system only reinforces an oppressive social order benefiting the dominant race more than the oppressed race (Brown Jackson, 2013). CRTE scholars is indebted to CRT scholars (which is indebted to CLS scholars), thus scholars of CRTE should be well versed in the history of CRT (and CLS). To Douglass the most horrific thing about slaverywas the fact that slaves were totally and completely precluded from and form of education, which prevented them from improving themselves. Slave owners give Covey their slaves for one year, during which he breaks the slaves while using them as free labor on his land. (sparknotes.com). Frederick recalled his time spent with Covey as being the hardest time he had ever spent as a slave. Douglass was worked to exhaustion and weakened by Coveys harsh punishments. The more Frederick was dehumanized by Covey the more he lost his drive, desire to learn, and natural liveliness. Douglass even contemplated committing suicide or even killing Covey, but both thoughts terrified him beyond belief. Covey lived on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay. It was a frequent thing for ships to pass by his house. To Douglass the ships with their beautiful white sails symbolized freedom. Worthington defines injustice gap as, the difference between the way the person would like a transgression to be resolved, and the way things are perceived to be currently (Worthington Jr, 2005, pg. 121). • 15. The Role of Television on Childhood Violence Essay The Role of Television on Childhood Violence What does the world look like these days? It often seems like everywhere one looks, violence is there. We see it on the streets, back alleys, school, and even at home. The last of these is a major source of violence. In many peoples living rooms there sits an outlet for violence that often goes unnoticed. It is the television, and the children who view it are often hypnotized by action that takes place in it. Violence is the use of one s powers to inflict mental or physical injury upon another (Webster, 659). Research shows that television is definitely a major source of violent behavior. Media has been considered by Ciony C. Gonzales as #8230;the most dominant art form #8230;. (1984, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The children find the violent characters on television fun to imitate. Children do imitate the behavior of models such as those portrayed in television, movies, etc. They do so because the ideas that are shown to them on television are more attractive to the viewer than those the viewer can think up himself. (Langone,98). Children like the violence in television because it is able to be more exciting and enthralling than the violence that is normally viewed on the streets. Aggression is not the only issue involved. Statistics show that children who spend more time watching violent TV programming are rated more poorly by their teachers, rated more poorly by their peers, and have few problem solving skills. Another research among U.S. children discovered the differences between children who watch a lot of violent television and those who don t. The results were that the children who watched more violent television were more likely to agree that it s okay to hit someone if you re mad at them for a good reason. These children may become less bothered by violence and see nothing wrong with it. The other group learned that problems can be solved passively, through discussion and authority (Cheyney 46). As you can see, television violence can disrupt a child s learning and thinking ability which will cause life long problems. Not only does television violence affect the child s youth, but it can also affect his or her adulthood. Some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some minority rights seem to conflict with liberal rights, for an example forcing women to stay home. (Freedman, 30 October 2017). In this essay, I will argue that the state should not endorse rightsthat infringes with the equality of the rights of a minority, therefore inhibiting the state s ability to treat all of its citizens with equal concern and respect. An example of the government misusing their power is the history of African American being used involuntarily as slaves and prevented from integrating into the institutions of the majority culture through racial segregation (Kymlicka 360). Africa American may have the greatest injustices of all the ethnocultural groups, mainly because of their historical mistreatment by the majority. Denial of the rights of certain minority groups cause conflict between groups and the rights of the minorities. Equality within a society means the delivering of minority rights. Multiculturalism in fact fails because everyone does not share a common set of beliefs and interest as the rest of the citizens. Since a society already has an official language and culture, the state still isn t entitled to force this on the citizens. It is up to them which culture they choose to practice. In January 1933, Adolf Hitlercame to power in Germany and immediately began to challenge the Treaty of Versailles and adapt an aggressive foreign policy, which led to war . It is not hard to blame Adolf Hitler for starting the war, however looking at evidences show that he was naturally a good person that was not taught or at the very least did not bother to realize the importance of learning to control his ambitions to not reach the level of selfish greediness. Hence ambition is needed to proceed forward but the control of it must be taught to refrain from these event occurring. Is it something that could be linked to society as a whole? Could it even be something that has been implanted in us at an early age? Probably so, studies have shown that in the past that BDD can be brought about by the stigmas that are placed on us when we are young by the media. Some would say that this phenomenon is something that could be completely avoided if we just take away what it means to be perfect in the world s eyes today. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In teenagers, BDD will eventually take over their life. Teens are influenced by something called the buy me, wear me, be me phenomenon. This message is put out by the stars in Hollywood, as well as all over the world in things like New York Fashion Week, and fashion shows all around the world featuring celebrities that are generally characterized as flawless. Everyone wants the celebrity body that has been photo shopped to look absolutely perfect with nonexistent body fat. This is something that needs particular attention especially when dealing with the puberty years when the body is trying to make your body in to an adult with the voice changes, and the ever so lovely, acne; this is when the teenager s life can begin to turn upside down. In teenage boys, body image is something that is relatively the same. In boys, the problem is not only that they are not thin enough for the outside world, there is also a problem with not being muscular enough, spawning the disorder off of Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Muscle Dysmorphic Disorder, or MDD. MDD is a disorder much like BDD; however, it focuses on the muscles only. This disorder makes boys crave the body of the world s models. This need to look like a bodybuilder is spawned by the media. In the early 21st century much evil has risen, such as terrorism, poverty, convivial dispute and the continual surge of natural disasters destroying land, homes and killing thousands of people. With all of this famine humans are experiencing on a daily basis, it seems inconceivable that an omnipotent, all loving, ontologically separate God can exist. Despite the theists arguments via the Freewill and Teleological defence, both have many flaws and weaknesses due to the lack of supporting evidence and on occasions contradicting the Christian religion itself. The only explanation that acts as a strong asset for the co existence of God is the Transpersonal Solipsism ideology. However, it still produces doubts on Gods existence being ontologically separate. The issue of How can God exist when there is evil in the world is highly regarded as the strongest challenge towards Gods existence, however moral evil, produced by humans, is a result of freewill, which God granted all humans. If freewill is not a logical impossibility for man to choose good, then there is no logical impossibility of man choosing good for every occasion. The fact that moral evil does exist proves that humans are not perfect and if God is omnipotent and perfect, then a perfect god should have made perfect things. • 24. Science ADI Lab Science ADI Lab Chart How does the temperature and the surface area to volume ratio of water affect the rate of water evaporation? We believe the rate of water evaporation is affected by the temperature and surface area to volume ratio. The hotter the temperature of the water is, the faster it evaporates, while lower temperatures slow down the process of evaporation. Also, the bigger the surface area is, the quicker water evaporates, while water in containers with smaller surface areas take longer to evaporate. We carried out two experiments to prove our claim. One of the experiments we conducted was the temperature experiment, in which our independent variable was temperature. First, we measured 100 milliliters in two beakers of the same size. We put the first beaker on a hot plate with the setting on 2 for 22 minutes. When we took it off, there were 83 milliliters left in the beaker, meaning 17 milliliters had evaporated. ... Since the value of the stock had been below $45 for 4 months, the offer of 55 dollars represented a 29% premium to investors. • 28. Frankenstein Treatment Of Women Essay The way in which author s choose to depict their characters can reveal a great deal about not only the authors themselves but the society they lived in. In many works of British Gothic fiction, women are often omitted from the story, depicted in a negative light, or underdeveloped and easily forgotten. The novels Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, and The Monk by Matthew Gregory Lewis, are not exception in their treatment of women. The treatment of women in these novels reveals an underlying misogyny that ultimately reduces women to no more than objects. Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, is odd in that in spite of being written by a woman, the women of the story are subjected to the same treatment as the women of the other novels mentioned. One would think that as a woman, Shelly would want to empower her female characters in a way that is possible in fiction that may not be in real life. Both female characters, Elizabeth and Justine, are forgettable at best and the way they are introduced to us is rather telling. Among these there was one which attracted my mother far above all the rest. She appeared of a different stock. The four others were dark eyed, hardy little vagrants; this child was thin, and very fair. • 39. The Distorted Stereotype of Skin Heads The battlefield has been erected, the combatants have been selected. A battle line has been drawn on streets across the world. Choose your weapon and choose wisely. What shall it be brass knuckles, a bottle, belt buckle, sock full of ball bearings, blackjack, baton, switchblade, brick, or the old fashion fisticuffs. A war is being waged within the skinheadculture a war that has been waged since the 1970s. A war between traditional skinheads and racist skinheads, the most notable factions involved in the war are the S.H.A.R.P.S. or Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice commonly referred to as SHARPS. They originated in New York but have membership in a plethora of other American cities such as Atlanta, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, and Kansas City among others. The SHARP organization numbers in the thousands with membership in several other countries in South America such as Chile, and branches throughout the world in the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, and even Malaysia. Rivaling this nation and its ideologies would be the racist skinheads also known as White Power Skinheads. Although they have their own branches a great number of these skinheads are Neo Nazis. It is because of the brutal tactics of these far right militant skinheads the skinhead culture has been branded with a bad reputation by the media. Because of white power skinheads everyone stereotypes all skinheads as racists. Honestly even I used to think this way but once I read articles and learned for myself ... • 42. Dante s Inferno Essay Dante s Inferno It was sometime in the middle of the 17th century that British cleric Thomas Fuller wrote, He that falls into sin is a man; that grieves at it, is a saint; that boasteth of it, is a devil. If Fuller was right, where does one place Dante, the pilgrim who bravely wandered where no man had wandered before? Certainly, the sojourner precisely written by the poet of the same name was a man. Certainly, also, he repented his sinful ways (how could one not after braving not only the depths of Hell but later the stretches of Purgatory and the many waters of Heaven?), but he was no saint. Indeed, Inferno itself can be easily construed as a boast of sorts made it through hell, met Lucifer, bought the t shirt. But in reality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Canto 3, Dante is so overwhelmed by his surroundings that overcame all feeling in me [ln 135] and he faints, saying dramatically, I fell like one whom sleep is taking [ln 136]. Not much later, in Canto 5, the traveling duo comes upon a pair of lovers, condemned to an eternity of suffering due to a small case of incontinence. Dante is overcome with sympathy as he listens to their story, and promptly blacks out again, this time with even more dramatic flair: for pity I fainted as if I were dying, and I fell as a dead body falls [ln 141 142]. Before he hits the dust, he manages to express his sympathy to Francesca, one of the lovers: Francesca, your sufferings make me sad and piteous to tears [ln 116 117]. This sense of pity is an important indicator of his progress, or lack thereof, through Hell. At this, the beginning of his journey, Dante identifies with the condemned and thus has not only sympathy, but empathy toward them. He understands a life of sin and can picture himself in their place. As time goes by and the pilgrim s journey continues, Dante gets hardened against the strife and pain inflicted upon the sinners. Of course, seeing enough of anything begets tolerance, but in Dante s case his lessening sympathy shows lessening empathy as well. His thoughts and ideals have become progressively more pure and pious, and he s started to lose his identification with the life of sin and contempt. Virgil encourages his displacement ... • 43. The Political Spectrum Of South Africa With the advent spread of the English language during the colonial conquests the world had undergone a vast array of changes, and some of these changes that seems to have gone unnoticed for some part is how deeply the English language has impacted and changed a country s identity entirely. Then the question arises whether those changes are in fact beneficial or detrimental for language acquisition and maintenance for future generations to come. This essay will focus on my country of choice, South Africa, and will discuss how three different dimensions have been impacted by the English language. I will first focus on the historical dimensions to gain a better understanding of the circumstances within South Africa in the past and in today s context, especially how the English language had arrived and completely shaped South Africa as a whole. Furthermore, following the historical impact, this essay will go deeper into the political spectrum of South Africa, and discuss how the country shifted from the Apartheid era to its contemporary state. Lastly, I will discuss how the educational system has impacted the growing new generation to get a clearer understanding of how the country has been changed to adapt to the more globalised world that we live in now and will raise some questions about how language, being one of the key aspects that makes us human, could be wilfully applied for coercion into a chosen form of hegemony, and will thus demonstrate the importance of language in ... Ackerman (1958) viewed family work as a special method of treatment of emotional disorders based on dynamically oriented interviews with the whole family. This looks at the who, what, where, when, why, and how of family. The goal is to bring to the surface all the contributors (person or thing) of the issue and map out ways to manage it. In family therapy, the clinician is able to see the role each member plays within the family structure. The clinician can assist the family to develop a family tree to explore different trends or discover unknown facts. For example, in developing this tree of people the family can include cause of death, possible miscarriages, mental health diagnosis of members, illnesses, or any other trend of interest. This can also promote family connectedness by contacting other members or friends of the family to gather information. Structural Family Therapy can also promote a safe environment for individuals to express concerns or feelings to family members. It can improve communication, develop effective problem solving methods, explore values, and experiment with new behaviors (Thayer 1982). The role of the clinician is to keep the sessions family focused. The clinician must recognize who the identified patient is or the client the family system has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Starting with the Puritans arriving in North America looking for religious freedom, we now have the current man wanting to strike it rich. We all have our own perspective on what we believe the current deposition has become. Have our values changed? Certainly! I believe we have values now which are unnecessary compared to our ancestor s dreams. They wish for things we take for granted in today s world: religious freedom, freedom of speech, liberty. The Declaration of Independence lists, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness . This shows our forefathers were already considering our actions. Many people only focus on reaching their own goals. We need to come together as a whole and help everyone reach theirs as well. Our success is only reflected from the work effort we put forth. America has already set forth many rights in order to guide us along the way. All we need to do after this is be willing to sacrifice our time and many things we love. This sounds like a large price to pay but it will pay off in the long run. The pride Americans have in their country is great, but their ambition to find their own pride in themselves is lacking. We need to find the pride in ourselves in order to think we will achieve the American Dream. If we believe we are going to achieve our dream then we will achieve them. For centuries, many people have ran to America to escape from strict leaders, war, and no religious freedom. • 47. Aldo Leopold A Sand County Almanac A McVay The Land Ethic Response One of the penalties of an ecological education is that one lives alone in a world of wounds. Much of the damage inflicted on land is quite invisible to laymen. An ecologist must either harden his shell and make believe that the consequences of science are none of his business, or he must be the doctor who sees the marks of death in a community that believes itself well and does not want to be told otherwise, said by none other, Aldo Leopold. In A Sand County Almanac, Aldo Leopold, an American environmentalist, brought a new idea to the environmentalist s table: land ethic. His idea of a land ethic is a moral responsibility of humans to the natural Earth. Leopold s idea has been discussed since the publication by a wide variety of people, from the public to scholars. Since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coming from an uncultivated society, such as the one that brought farming and ranching to the settlement of North America, humans have retained some sensitivity to environmental issues as they derived their livelihood directly from the land. But with the advance to an urban or metropolitan society, there has been a major disconnect between humanity and nature. Today s urban society is provided with mowed parks, paved playgrounds, plush automobiles to move the public around on asphalt roads, housing with automatically regulated heat and cooling, and supermarkets with shopping carts and baskets, in which people can gather their food supplies from orderly shelves and freezers. Aldo Leopold s land ethic term suggests that humans stop treating the land as a mere object or a resource, like how the world does today. For Leopold, land is not merely soil, like the public would think of today; land is a fountain of energy, flowing through a circuit of soils, plants, and animals. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
