Analysis Of Judith Slaying Holofernes
Judith Slaying Holofernes by Artemisia Gentileschi ultimately painted one of the most violent
representations of Judith in the history of art (Straussman Pflanzer, 12). Gentileschi was the only
woman painter of the Baroque period in her time. She was born in Rome in 1593 to Orazio
Gentileschi and Prudenzia Montoni. Artemisia was a follower of Caravaggio, whom art is
frequently considered primarily in terms of its naturalism (Straussman Pflanzer, 13). She also
learned the principles of art from her father and the basic perspective from Tassi.
In Judith Slaying Holofernes the woman represented in a yellow costly garment is no other than
Judith a Jewish widow. Despite her beauty for deceiving men, she is very brutal in revenge. By
easily gaining her way through the Assyrians she gracefully grabs the attention of the General
Holofernes, and then kills him by slicing through his neck with his own sword. She is then the
heroine figure for Bethulia, Jerusalem, the Temple, and the people (Judith 8:11 12).
The story of Judith is told to be a young religious widow from the Jewish city of Bethulia, chops
off the head of Holofernes, general of the Assyrian army that had attacked her city. Robin Gallaher
Branch states that Judith told the Bethulia leaders to meet her at her home where she could discuss
to them her plan on how to save the city from thirst by the enemy (Branch, 1). After getting the
approval from her city leaders they acclaim her for her wisdom and released her and

Armadillidium Vulgares Lab Report
The results from the experiment was unexpected and they supported one of the hypothesis formed
since they failed to reject them, but it rejected the hypothesis that Armadillidium vulgares will
prefer glucose water since it is found in its environment. Both of the experiments rejected the null
hypothesis since the Armadillidium vulgares showed a preference for wet over dry habitat and
glucose water over RO water for their habitat according to the chi square and P value calculated.
The preference they had for RO water over glucose was unexpected since glucose is found in
detritus (Moriarty, D.J.W., and Pullin, R.S.V. 1987). It was thought that they would select the
glucose habitat since it is closer to their natural one; however, it might be due to the fact that the
glucose in the environment usually undergoes fermentation and becomes ethanol and perhaps its
chemical ethanol that causes Armadillidium vulgares to inhibit in detritus... Show more content on

Since the liquid will expand the size of the sponge, then the surface area of the sponges were not
able to be kept as a control since the increase of surface area of the sponge can increase the
likelihood of it being chosen. The measurements of the sponges were also taken right after the
liquids were added; thus the liquid was not actually fully absorbed by the sponge yet making the
measurements not accurate and as the trails went by the sponges expanded more than the recorded
measurements causing a change in surface area. The same Armadillidium vulgares were used for
the trials, which can cause them to be overexposed or less active as the trials went by, making their
activeness not a control in the experiment. To improve the design, the measurements of the sponges
after the liquid is added should be measured after a few minutes to ensure that the sponge has fully
absorbed all the liquid and that it has reached its maximum

Abstract. As A Young Girl In Her Adolescent, Horney Karen
Abstract
As a young girl in her adolescent, Horney Karen was raised under harsh conditions as written in
her diaries, her parents as she describes them as a cruel disciplinary figure held Karen s brother
higher than her, this made her feel less loved and became rebellious at an early age. Lack of
parental love. This could have led Karen to study more about the theory of personality, this paper,
therefore, looks at Horney s theory of personality and how one s life at a younger age affect their
personality and relation with others. This paper looks at Karen s take on other people s work about
neurosis and his contribution too in neurosis

Horney Karen (1942) said the take of men on women being pregnant, motherhood, breastfeeding,
and breasts lead to men devaluing women. She stated that the self is what determined one s being.
That is, if a person had an accurate revelation of themselves, they had a chance to realize and live to
their potential.
As a psychiatrist, Horney Karen developed a pattern of needs that were derived from neurosis.
The needs were based on the things Karen thought people required to be what they required in
life. According to Karen, people should have to have two views of themselves, one the real self
and the ideal self, whereby the real self is who one is and what they are. Whereby the real self
has one s potential for growth, the potential for happiness and power. The ideal self is, on the
other hand, is used to help the real self to develop one s potential and achievement of self. Horney
came up with an illustration explaining between the real self, despised and the ideal selves,
Self realization vacillation
Real self ideal self
Despised self

She modified the needs to correspond to individual neuroses as follows and categorized them
according to what she called coping strategies, (Ewen, R. 2014, pg.76) as follows;

Metro Plus Health Plan
Working as a Case Manager (CM) for a Medicaid based Health Insurance has brought me in
contact with patients of varied cultures, languages and races. As a CM For Metro Plus Health
Plan, my responsibility is to teach High Risk pregnant women about their diseases, encourage
them to stay in care with their Primary Care Physician/Obstetricians, explain the importance of
taking their medications as prescribed, and adhering to all their providers plan of care, with the
goal of encouraging these patient s to become responsible and active participants in their own

There is limited healthcare services and literature that is culturally and linguistically appropriate for
culturally diverse populations. These barriers have been shown over the years to threaten how
effective care is for these populations. The healthcare system depends on nurses to facilitate
services, care plans and educate patients on various health issues. Many patients who live in these
communities have low literacy levels, and often need help completing medical forms, intake
assessments, reading their medical results, bills as well as educational materials. Additional
resources for this population should include pictorial pamphlets, medical interpreters and low
literacy literature for these patients. Including family members in the process will help nurses
bridge the culture and linguistic gaps in communication and care. Integrating knowledge and
respect for various cultures, their belief systems, and values will facilitate better health care
compliance and yield better

Personal Trainer Interpreting
To demonstrate my ability to analyze the effectiveness of interpreting performances generated by
myself and peers by applying contemporary theories, performance assessments, and peer reviews, I
have provided three collections of evidence items.
The first collection, Personal Trainer, demonstrates my ability to apply several theoretical
constructs and assessment tools to analyze interpreting performances generated by myself and that
of a peer. The Video text titled, Personal Trainer was the first lab assignment from my Consecutive
Interpreting course INTR 322. I started the analysis with discussion of my application of the

model is that it also allows me to assess how well I transitioned between consecutive and
simultaneous interpretation and my ability to monitor processing throughout the work. Next in this
collection is the ASL video where I discuss the effective and less effective discourse management
strategies observed in the work produced by the sample interpreter for the same text. In this report,

Small Business Technology By Bill Simms
Small Business Technology
It was an ordinary Thursday evening in suburban Richmond, Virginia. 7PM. Bill Simms makes a
right turn on to the expressway ramp in a bid to make it on time to meet his wife for his daughter
s ballet recital. He was happy that his new painting business was beginning to thrive. After being
laid off, it came as a big relief that private home and small business clients were starting to find
him. Though he always had a general affinity for painting, owning a painting company is not
what he imagined doing for a living. Still, it was a blessing that was now manifesting as a
provident financier of ballet slippers. Although Bill s background was in corporate marketing,
he experienced a major learning curve when it came to pitching and selling business services.
He soon realized the impact of not having experience as a painter or small business owner. At the
start, he received most of his assistance from friends, family, and his wife. Everyone would pitch
in to keep up with the back office operations and work flow. As the company grew and became
successful, his makeshift team became overwhelmed and thinned out into a two man team. His
wife, a local teacher, assisted as best as possible with paperwork while he was in the field
servicing clients, but after only a short period of time, both were overwhelmed with generating
proposals, quotes, revisions, and invoices. The paperwork portion of running the business became a
full time job in and of

Cloud Computing And Its Application
Abstract: Cloud computing is an efficient and highly scalable technology that enables enterprise
information, software applications and web applications to be stored and executed from a remote
infrastructure. It is a highly cost effective infrastructure that runs on highly optimized and
fabricated hardware. Since its inception the demand is constantly growing in the software and tech
industry which has led to a drastic increase in the energy consumption of data centers and other
hosting sites. High power consumption not only contributes to high operational cost but also leads
to high carbon emissions which not environment friendly. Thus energy efficient hardware and
software solutions are in need to mitigate the harmful effects of Cloud computing technology on
environment. In order to design a power efficient system for Cloud infrastructure, thorough analysis
of the Cloud computing needs to be done and that knowledge has to be mapped to low level
platform developers, network engineers, hardware manufacturers and software engineers. A
comprehensive design after considering all the factors and elements of Cloud computing and its
application would achieve an environment friendly system. What is Cloud computing? Cloud
computing refers to the practice of using software and hardware resources at remote location using
internet. Thus cloud computing enables user to rely on such resources on a cloud for processing
and storage needs and pay as per usage. One of the most important

Uglies Scott Westerfeld Analysis
We all have friends that we would give up everything to save or be with. In Pretties, by Scott
Westerfeld, Tally has to sacrifice her new life as a Pretty(which she has always wanted to
become) in order to save not only herself, but her friends and the whole city. Uglies, also written
by Scott Westerfeld(the first book of the series) Tally has to sacrifice her life in order to turn
pretty to be with Peris, her old friend from Uglyville who turned pretty before her. Both of these
stories are teaching us to sacrifice our lives for our friends, but the author teaches this in different
ways.
In the first book of the series, Uglies, Tally has always wanted to become pretty and be with Peris,
but her new friend Shay has run away to the smoke and the government wants Tally to go and find
Shay. Tally decides to go, because if she did not accept, she would remain ugly... Show more

Cure is. This is a Revealing Action, because if Tally did not want to find the cure, than she would

location of the cure. This is how the author shows that Tally wants to find the cure, because in
Uglies if she didn t want to find the cure, she would ve not stepped forward and said she would

Analysis Of Care Of The Soul By Thomas Moore
In Thomas Moore s Care of The Soul, he explains the importance of your soul. He believes that
when your soul is neglected, it does not go away instead it appears in ways of addictions,
obsessions and possibly violence. Moore discusses modern psychology and his belief that you
cannot simply cure, fix, or change (xv). You must try and figure out your symptoms in order to
know what your soulcraves. I agree with Moore in that the only way to cope with life problems is
to look deeply into ones soul. Moore explains that care of the soul is not primarily a method of
problem solving. Its goal is not to make life problem free, but to give ordinary life the depth and
value that comes with soulfulness (4). You could never make life problem free. People deal with
problems on a daily basis, whether it s learning to deal with the death of a loved one or
relationship problems. You cannot assume that if you attend therapy that you will be cured of these
problems; your loved one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We do this by providing them with an education but when you really think about, we are pushing
the children away from childhood. We shouldn t be spending great sums of money on electronic
entertainment centers that don t speak to the soul s need for child like direct pleasure (53). I
agree that, child wisdom is different from adult wisdom, but it has its place (53). Children need
to be appreciated and given the time to be a child. They need to be able to play, explore, and
wonder, as it is imperative, to the care of their soul. I also think there is some truth in that we
tend to push children into adulthood because we ourselves long to be childish. We no longer can
play, be silly or stay up and sleep all day because we are adults and it is frowned upon. We must be
mature and go to bed at a reasonable time because we must work and provide for our family. I
know that my soul longs for child inside of

Igae Masks Throughout History
This mask depicts Idia, the mother of the 16th century Beninese leader Esigie. Produced some
time in the sixteenth century, this mask is not the only one of its kind. Composed of iron,
elephant ivory and bronze, the mask was mostly ceremonial (MM). Masks of this nature were
worn either on the hip or around the neck of the Oba, or ruler among Edo peoples (MM). The
precious nature of the materials used in these masks indicates their royal status. In the late 15th
and early 16th centuries, Portuguese pushed into the Atlantic World in search of laborers and
luxury goods, both of which they found in West Africa (AW 54). Initially these adventurers , as
they were called, would simply kidnap people for labor from the coasts (AW 58). However, after

Essay Hindu Belief of Samsara
Hindu Belief of Samsara
(6)The Hindu belief in samsara, the cycle of life, death, and rebirth includes reincarnation into
forms other than human. It is believed that someone could live many lifetimes before they become
a man. Each species is in this process of samsara until one achieves moksha, union with god
Brahma. The Hindu religious goal of moksha is not salvation, and does not need forgiveness, but
detachment from the material world. Though some people might argue that such a goal with these
aspects rejects the natural world as having value, the Hindu goal is to liberate one from the self,
from the illusion of the material world as being separate and individual.

Karma is an important thing when trying to achieve Moksha, it will tell you what you have done
as bad things you do in your life will lead to bad Karma, and so you may be something lower than
you are now, e.g. A human could have a bad life and get Bad karma, and therefore cannot move up
to achieve Moksha, yet moves down to become a Dog for instance. And so if you live a bad life
from childhood some Hindus may think that Moksha is just a worthless goal as they may never
be able to achieve. Yet Hindus who may lead life s as Holmen are very likely to have good karma
and are therefore more likely to interpret Moksha in a different way, as they have good karma they
will have a more positive outlook on obtaining Moksha.

Semiautomatic Firearms
A Gun Is A Gun Is A Gun Right?
You have seen the articles, the top 20 firearms all Preppers need, or the five best self defense
handguns, or here is a list of the best rifles or shotguns for home defense and the lists go on.
Confusing, and you probably did not learn anything, and you may feel somewhat slighted, because
you do not have any of the guns that the so called expert was stating emphatically that you need.
It is not the firearm, but the person using it, and then the reason that person wants a firearm that is
the deciding factor. Let s face it; any firearm that can put a round downrange is better than
throwing a lamp at someone. Do you know how to decide?
From a purely mechanical and technological standpoint, today s semiautomatic pistols are superior.
Not too long ago if someone mentioned handguns you automatically thought revolver. The ever
steadfast revolver, while they differ somewhat, the mechanics have remained the same throughout

There is a reason however, why most militaries around the world carry semiautomatic pistols and
not revolvers and many in law enforcement carry them as well.
Keep in mind some semiautomatics are Double Action (DA) and Single Action (SA). Once a
round is chambered from the slide action, the hammer is back. From this point you can de cock it
to make it double action or leave the hammer back for single action. After the first round
subsequent shots are of course single action, because the slide is forced back to eject a shell
cocking the firearm each time.
The revolver is not going anywhere, because people grew up with them, it may have been for
many their first handgun that was handed down. They do have advantages over semiautomatics
and there are disadvantages as well. You do not have to choose, because you can have both as
long as you become proficient in their use. You do have to consider who will be using the weapon
and who may have access to the weapon as

Control The Azimuth Angle Of An Anti Aircraft Gun
Abstract: The goal of this project is to control the azimuth angle of an anti aircraft gun. Anti
aircraft gun is a type of counter measure gear used to fire tracer rounds to the hostile aircraft. It is
a fixed ground gun system which can rotate in azimuth as well as in horizon. It can track the tail
of an airship and hunt it down. The first effective anti aircraft gun was used in world war I. But,
the most drawback was that, it was human controlled thus human casualties was high. To dominate
over the battlefield and reduce the human casualties an automated anti aircraft gun system is a
must. In Bangladesh military the artillery division uses Type 55/Type 65/Type 75 anti aircraft
gun, but they all are human controlled. So, this project can help developing automated anti aircraft
gun that can be used for Bangladesh military and they can keep pace with the other warlords.
Introduction: The anti aircraft gun system can sense the location of the hostile object which is at
rest or in motion. The exact location or trajectory is fed to the system every time until the gun
nose is along the enemy tail. So, there should be a continuous sensing feedback mechanism.
According to sensor input the actuator will act to the desired position. During an air assault it is
very dangerous for a soldier to operate the countermeasure gear. One hand he has to keep tracking
the airship, other hand he needs to keep himself alive from enemy fire. This will distract him from
aiming the ship accurately.

Linear Regression is a data analysis deliberated for computing the association between two variables
by connecting a linear equation to perceive information (Christensen, et al, 2014). An individual
enters data points into the calculator and the computer retains the course of the calculations and
completes the essential calculations for linear regression (Christensen, et al, 2014). Linear
Regression is a method for displaying the straight line relationship between variables by using a

to explain or predict the values of a dependent variable founded on the standards of one or more

analysis are called simple regression, in which there is a single independent or predictor variable,

Taking a Look for Clinical Depression
Everyone at some point will encounter a bout with depression. Depression is a common
sickness among people in society for many different reasons. There are numerous types of
depression that can be diagnosed on multiple levels. The diagnosis is usually determined by a
primary physician who then recommends you to either a psychologist or therapy group. Causes
of depression can vary from person to person. There are many factors to consider such as the
person s situation, personality, their reactions to events and family health history. The issues
that arise from depression are bad health, heavy drug/alcohol abuse, and the worst, suicide.
Depressions problems can be combated even at its worst, it just requires the own persons
personal efforts. The most common health problems that occur are anxiety, isolation from
others and eating disorders either anorexia or obesity. These issues are already problems for
many developing teens. The need to be accepted by their peers pressures them to want to look
thin and act differently. Other teens that feel out of place become obese and loose motivation to
participate in exercise even if it is best for their health. This disease can be treated, with changing
their diet and exercise, so they do not end up killing themselves. Another concern is drug and
alcohol abusers who lead a life of hardcore drugs and heavy drinking, which can lead to over
dosing and or alcohol poisoning/bad decisions. A part of treatment could be to participate in A.A.

Strawson And Jean Donnellan Summary
Donnellan, in Reference and Definite Description, outlines two uses of definite descriptions. He
argues that definite descriptions can either have an attributive or a referential use. While theories
outlined by Strawson and Russell account for a single use, Donnellan advocates for both. To
explain both the attributive and referential uses, I will review two examples. The first example, put
forth by Donnellan, is for the statement Smith s murderer is insane. There are two ways of
interpreting this statement, based on whether the definite descriptionattributes or refers. In one
situation, the audience does not know who murdered Smith. If this is the case, then the speaker
does not pick someone out. Instead, the speaker s statement uses the definite description
attributively. Here, the definite description itself is what is most significant. Meanwhile, if
someone, whom we will call Jones, has been accused of the murder, the use changes. When the
speaker now makes the statement, the audience picks out Jones as the referent. The definite
description has a referential use. It acts as a tool for picking out a particular one or thing.... Show

Therefore, when we say, Smith s murderer is insane, the implication is not true. The
consequences of this differ based on which use of description the speaker is employing. Under an
attributive usage, there would be no person who we can truly attribute insanity to. Meanwhile,
with a referential usage, the speaker could still successfully refer to Jones. However, the
description, insane murderer would no longer fit Jones. The act of picking out is the key function
for a referential use of a description. Even if the description is wrong, reference is still

Birth Control Theory
In 1798, Thomas Malthus started the slow journey to socially acceptable birth control in Great
Britain, when he published his book, An Essay on the Principle of Population. Malthus noted that
species of plants and animals tend to produce more offspring then they had the means to sustain. He
argued that the British people needed to take action to improve the living conditions of city
dwellers, through the prevention of births, by the use of celibacy, controlling the amount of births a
family experienced, and lowering the national birth rate. 19th Century views on birth control
centered around the early suffragist ideas on planned motherhood. Early suffragist recommended
that women abstain from sex to avoid pregnancy, and if they did not refrain from sex, then the
withdrawal method or the rhythm method should have been employed. The rhythm method
involved following a woman s menstrual cycle to predict when she would be most fertile and
avoiding intercourse during those days of the month. Before the popularity of contraceptive
devices, early birth control was rather ineffective, and did not improve until the mid twentieth
century. During the interwar period of the 1920 s and 1930 , views on birth control changed
considerably. Birth rates among the working class stared to drop after the First World War. Directly
after the war, 19th century birth control advocates worked to legitimize the decline in births, by
disseminating contraceptive information to women in

Women s Rights During The Seneca Falls
My dearest James,
Being at the convention in Seneca Falls, New York has caused me to look back on our time in
England. I had such a wonderful time on my first trip abroad to England with you. The
mistreatment the other women and I faced not being allowed to fully participate showed me the
important issues of women s rights. Despite the hardships we faced at the General Anti slavery
Convention meeting Elizabeth Stanton was wonderful. I believe working with her will help my
cause and determination to have equality for all women. Her work at this convention is truly
inspirational. Her initiating and desire for women suffrage is powerful and shows her great

I hope people will see this document in a positive and empowering light. I hope this first
convention will inspire other all around to seek out the unjust ways currently. I hope one day
our wonderful children will support and follow in my footsteps of supporting the rights of
women. There is no matter of misconception regarding the document s demands put further by
our needs. Although I fear people will not take the document seriously, and will look badly
towards the movement. I think my next venture will be starting to write a book to show the need
for equal rights of women. I can not wait to see you and our children I miss you all so much during

Mexican Americans Negative Effects
The experience of Mexican Americans has been a lifetime of conquest fueled by their historical
trauma and underrepresentation that continues to plague the Mexican American community to this
present day and most likely still be hundreds of years later. This experience shaped by the defeat of
Mexico and the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, where while the terms of treaty theoretically
protected Mexican Americans, in practice the Mexican Americans had no protections. This
prejudice and discriminationfrom something that should have been protected by the agreement lead
to the story of the La Alianza started by Reies Tijerina that started a new fight for the rights that
belong to them.
The effects of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo have a long lasting impact on Mexican Americans
and Mexican population, in Mexico, it brought back the idea that Mexico would have been better
off under Spanish rule and that a monarchy is ideally suited for Mexico, this brought forth decades
of instability in Mexico (Timothy 184). Consequently, this shows the falling back into a monarchist
or authoritarian government when a country and its peoples destroyed, more modern examples are
of Germany after World War I. Comparatively the conditions for Mexican Americans were not that
better, as mention before while the treaty politically protected, it did not have any way to stymied
the racism and discrimination that became directed at them. Showing that the law does not mean

Film Analysis Of Inglorious Basterds
Tarantino intentionally chose to create a film around despising Nazis because Nazis are a
group that all the world agrees to hate, and agree that their actions and beliefs were evil, which
makes Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime the gold standard of evil, that is why when people are
referred to as Nazis, it s not exactly to say they want to lock Jewish people up, it s because the
word Nazi itself has become synonymous with evil. So, to say Inglorious Basterds is a character
centered historically inaccurate movie that uses war and Nazis as a backdrop to tell a narrative of
evil being subjective. The most important character in this movie is Hans Landa portrayed by actor
Christoph Waltz. The character Hans Landa perfectly portrays how evil can be subjective, speaking
to slash film Christoph Waltz explained the character by saying
I don t think these swastikas are so important to him. It s not so much ego driven, it s just a very
thorough understanding of how the world works. What makes him so intriguing is exactly that;
he s not driven by an ideology. When people say Nazi , it s such a gross generalization, I feel.
And sometimes I feel compelled to say, Well, he s not even a Nazi. Yes, he wears that uniform,
but he doesn t care. Not about Nazi ideology. He s completely unideological. He just understands
how the world turns, and in that way, he s three steps ahead of everyone else . (Stephenson, 2017)

The Debate Over Human Cloning Essay
Human cloning, an unknown wonder to the universe the world has yet to unfold. The idea of
cloning can be a dream to some and others not so much, there s just endless possibilities when it
comes to cloning. With the thought of cloning humans comes reality and other things that can
cause issues or keep the experiment stagnant. Reality includes the process of cloninghumans, types
of cloning, products of cloning, cost, and also ethical issues. Besides the issues and reality part of
cloning, this could be considered a huge breakthrough in life and science, maybe even cataloged
like all the other infamous discoveries scientists have breached but certain things must be talked
about, like why cloning is banned in some states and why some people would rather not even think
about cloned humans. A first thought when thinking about human cloning might include how is
this possible or what s the process and truth be told, the process can definitely seem fascinating
but not as difficult as it may appear. Scientists will likely use a method called Somatic cell nuclear
transfer or SCNT for short. Somatic cell nuclear transfer begins when scientists take an egg from a
female donor and remove the nucleus, making the egg an enucleated egg. Then, a cell with DNA
contained within is taken from the person who is being cloned. The enucleated egg and the cell
with the DNA would be fused together using electricity which creates an embryo that is then
implanted in the surrogate mother

Researchers and team sports professionals all over the world are using performance analysis both
to improve their understanding of their sport and the development of their teams (Taylor et al.,

The aim of this investigation therefore was to examine the influence of game location and team

objective was to extend the existing home advantage literature in soccer that has examined a limited

Since Schwartz and Barsky s study (1977), home advantage is well established at both amateur
and professional level in many sports (Gomez et al., 2008; Varca, 1980) not just in soccer but in
all sports, according to (R Pollard and G Pollared et al, 2007) home advantage can be seen in
Baseball, Basketball, American football, hockey and soccer. Specifically for soccer, home
advantage has been shown to exist since the start of the Football League in England in 1888 1889
and has been shown to continue across all the leagues of the professional sport since the early years
(Nevill and Holder, 1999; Pollard and Pollard, 2005, Sanchez et al., 2009). In an attempt to improve
the understanding of the occurrence, Courneya and Carron (1992) proposed an outline to
investigate the effects of the match location or competition and any subsequent home advantage.
The framework comprised five interrelated components suggested to influence home advantage,
including the match venue, game location factors, the critical psychological and behavioural states
of the competitors, coaches, and officials, and the subsequent performance

Why We Buy Underhill
In Underhill s book Why we buy , Underhill (2009) argued that in the US, customers walk
towards the right after entering the store entrance, so the front right portion would be the most
visited part of the store. Also, with a right hand dominance, the most convenient place to place a
product is on the right side when the customer is facing the shelf. With the same argument,
Underhill infers that in the UK and Australia, with a left hand dominance, the customer would
walk to the left after entering the store, so the front left portion of the store is most visited, and
the best place to put a product is on the left when the customer is facing the shelf. Putting myself
in the shoe of Gap about to open a store in London, I would test Underhill s hypothesis to see if it

Types And Classifications Of Pulmonary Hypertension
Abstract Pulmonary hypertension is a disease that without treatment becomes progressively worse
until a patient dies. It is characteristically a disease of young adults, but may occur all across the
lifespan making this disease even more devastating.1 Pulmonary hypertension is characterized by
elevated intrapulmonary pressures which cause dynamic changes to the cardiovascular system of
the affected individual. The adequate functioning of the cardiovascular system is vital to the
survival of the patient so while treatment is rarely curative, with the exception of organ transplant
which will be discussed later, the main goal of medical therapy is to optimize cardiovascular
functioning and stop disease progression allowing people living with this disease the best possible
quality of life and level of functioning. There are several types and classifications of pulmonary
hypertensionwith multiple pathogenesis. Different treatment modalities have been proven effective
to treat this disease process; the mainstay of treatment relies heavily on pharmacologic therapies.
Pharmacologic treatments include drugs in the following pharmacological classes: calcium channel
blockers, prostacyclins including synthetic prostacyclins and prostacyclin analogues, endothelin
receptor antagonists, and phosphodiesterase inhibitors. While pharmacologic therapies are the
mainstay of treatment, heartand, or lung transplant maybe available for a specific subtype of PH,

Essay on Potential for Large Scale Ethanol Production
Potential for Large Scale Ethanol Production
Recent legislation by the Congress of the United States has created a mandate for 5 billion
gallons of renewable fuel (notably ethanol) to be consumed annually by 2015. In light of this
recent push for alternative fuels, many different biomass solutions have been considered to meet
the energy need for the 200 million cars on the road. While the most efficient bio fuels are derived
from palm oil and sugarcane, the Unites States has begun to focus on the more regional corn crops
to produce new renewable fuels. This program appears to have great potential towards achieving a

More moderate studies that were conducted suggest a modest 25% return on investment. Still, not
enough to herald it as the perfect solution.
President Bush recently visited Central America to sign a memorandum of understanding with the
Brazilian Government, aimed at expanding ethanol production from sugarcane in Brazil. Brazil
currently produces 38% of the worlds ethanol, while already straining the countries ecosystem
(Hirsch). If ethanol production were to increase globally, environmentalists fear that Brazil could
transform into a giant sugarcane field. Richard Heinberg noted this rapid expansion and tried to
imagine how this would affect the United States cropland when the demand for corn derived
ethanol production increased. Heinberg concluded that the US would need 25% more farmland
than currently exists to supply the average consumers 852 gallons of fuel per year (Heinberg,
172). This statistic is especially alarming when you realize this assumes that no farmland would
be used for food production for both livestock and humans. Additionally, while 90% of ethanol
production is produced from corn, the USDA reports that, corn farming required more chemicals
fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides than any other comparable crop, such as soybeans. (Pica)
With a planned increase in corn production we would see a severe increase in soil and water

Andrew Trentmann Professor Weiland ASCI 602 19 November 2016 The History of Delta
Airlines Delta Airlines originally started in 1924 as, Huff Daland Dusters, the first crop dusting
company in existence (History, n.d.). To avoid the lulls of winter, when no crop dusting was
performed in the U.S., Huff Daland extended its dusting services to Peru (Hoogerwerf, 2010).
Peruvian Airways, a Pan Am subsidiary, began flying both passenger and air mail contracts for
Huff Daland in its first entry into the passenger market (History, n.d. and Hoogerwerf, 2010).
Due to the unstable political environment in South America, this portion of the company was

company Huff Daland Dusters became rebranded as Delta Air Service. (History, n.d.). With
Woolman running the company and going on to eventually become President and CEO, Delta
Air Service began its first passenger route in 1929 flying from Dallas to Jackson (History, n.d.). In
1930 the inability to secure airmail contracts by being excluded from the spoils conference

It is important to remember the ACEI block the production of angiotensin II altogether, which also
block the enzyme kinase. This mechanism allows for vasodilation, decreased blood volume, and
the suppression aldosterone: allowing for decreased blood pressure and a slight decrease in edema.
While the suppression of kinase can cause an accumulation of bradykinin in the lungs, causing a
cough, ACEIs are considered the number one go to drug for hypertension and heart failure. ARBS,
working in much the same way as ACEIs, block angiotensin II receptor sites. This allows for
kinase to work again bradykinin, and does not produce the adverse cough. Diuretics are a must in
most hypertensive patients because they decrease edema, lower blood volume, and decrease the

Republicans vs Democrats Essay
The American political system is made up of primarily two parties, Democrats and Republicans.
These parties go against each other for many political positions, such as presidency. Each
supports and opposes different issues. The Democratic Party supports a bigger government and
believes the government should guide the people. They are known as Liberals because typically
they like change. The Republican Party supports a smaller government and believes the people
should guide the government. They are known as Conservatives because they are in favor of the
core laws of this country. Some people do not consider themselves Democratic or Republican. Not
all members agree with the majority vote of their party. Each party has a majority... Show more

In most abortion cases, it was just a mistake made by two people. They should have to deal with
their mistakes, but that shouldn t include ruining any chances in life. I suppose I can conclude that
I follow the democratic view on abortion. America also has not agreed on the government s budget
and economy. The debate is whether government funds should be focused more on programs for
the society or a military. The Democratic Partyopposes the large amount spent on military. They
believe a massive amount of money is required for the government to provide a happy, healthy,
shameless, and exciting society for everyone. The programs of society are more important to them
than all the money spent on our military. According to them, a huge government staff is necessary
to ensure that each and every citizen is doing what they are supposed to be doing. They believe
penalizing peoples achievements by high taxes, increased government bureaucracy, and spending
will lead everyone to prosperity. The Republican Party would like to cut back on government
spending, especially in social, environmental, and health programs. They think we should reduce
government programs and increase community programs. National Defense is a priority to
republicans, which requires a military budget far greater than previous budgets in any of the major
wars. In their view, a military government must remain strong, regardless of the price. Republicans
believe that high taxes, runaway

Roundness In No Name Woman
Patriarchy as Represented by the Symbol of Roundness in Maxine Hong Kingston s No Name
Woman
In the short story No Name Woman, Kingston pushes the motif of roundness pass its traditional
connotations of family, union, and fulfilment, and through it explores Chinese feudal traditions as a
tool of suppression for women, and the erased narrative of her aunt s fatal transgressions.
Roundness features heavily in Chinese cultural iconography, in round mooncakes, round doorways,
round windows, and round rice bowls, of the Chinese (Kingston 13). Its associations with
perfection, harmony, and familial values serve as a reminder of the law: the family must whole,
faithfully keeping the descent line by having sons to feed the old and the dead, who in turn look
after the family (13). In other words, roundness is the status quo, which bears particularly harshly
on women in hard times, when to be woman, to have a daughter in starvation time was waste
enough (6). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator s mother tells her story of her aunt as a cautionary tale, and in doing so draws a
connection between the two. The narrator s menstruation (Yue Jin in Chinese, as in the moon s
passing once again, the roundness motif) mirrors the her aunt s, her forerunner[ s] (8) protruding
melon of a stomach (3). Indeed, the narrator views her childhood, barred from simple joys of
flying high kites and carnival ride[s] and having to pa[y] in guilt (6) when she dares disobey, as
markedly similar to her aunt s life. Under the feudal system, women are relegated to the role of
extending the descent line into perpetuity. Roundness, as critic Sau Ling Cynthia Wong describes,
is mindlessly self perpetuating; if a symbol of perfection and self sufficiency, a circle also
represents confinement ( Necessity and Extravagance in Maxine Hong Kingston s The Woman

For the purpose of struggling against some additional difficulties when going internationally,
companies have to consider of the importance of international business and being awareness of
implementing an effective strategy on an international level .
1.3.1 The Importance of International Business
International business is a process which its all activities are carried out under the control of
government. It involves two or more countries. To understand the importance of going
internationally, it would be good to find out the answer of this question; why is international
business important especially for domestic companies? The simplest answer is that international
business has a huge and growing share of the business in the world. Today, many companies all
around the world, large or small, are influenced by global issues and competition for the reason of a
large number of them sell their products to and/or suppliers from foreign countries secretly and/or
stay Д±n the competition against products and services which come from other markets.
International business is a kind of opportunity for the countries and the consumers to be exposed
to these services and goods which are hard to find in their own region. Clothes, food, jewellery,
stocks, wines, spare parts and the similar products are always ready to use all the time in
international markets. Providing a service is also done with some ways such as; banking,

Impact Of The Anti War On The Vietnam War Between 1965 And...
Year 10 Australian History
Why was Australian society divided over the issue of our involvement in the Vietnam War between
1965 and 1975? (750 1000 words)
During the decade of 1965 1975, Australian society was controversially divided over the
involvement of Australian troops in the Vietnam War. At the peak of the nations involvement, some
8,500 troops were serving for their country. Vietnam was split into the democratic north and the
communist south, which was highly supported by the USA and most of its allies such as New
Zealand and Thailand. There were three main reasons of which Australia entered the Vietnam War,
which all equally contributed eccentrically to the division of Australian societies opinions of
whether it was necessary that we as a nation become involved in the Vietnam War. These reasons
are the threat of communism, supporting the alliances with the United States of America, and
requests for the Australian troops involvement in armed conflict as well as tactical planning. The
final topic of relevance being discussed is the impact of the anti war protest beginning in 1969.
Firstly, the threat of communism was immense. There was a genuine belief and somewhat fear of
communism from Asia sprawling into Australian society. The main objective of the South East
Asia defence treaty, known as SEATO, involved preventing Southern Vietnam from becoming a
communist state by force of arms and terrorism. According to The Sydney Morning Herald (June
24, 1971),

My Role Model In My Life
Most life changing events happen with someone whom you truly trust. It is easy to ignore people,
withdraw, and not form relationships built on love and reliance. I have truly grown closer to my
role model in my life. Matt Harp, my role model, is a man of truth, integrity, love, selflessness, and
compassion. Many different times he surprised me with how he acted, spoke and thought. I clearly
saw the Lordlead his life, and his actions revealed as much. I wanted to follow his example. He
led me through junior high, what was definitely the toughest part of my life. Looking back, I can
only imagine what would have happened in my life if I had not grown to trust this honorable
man. There are many different times where Matt taught me a life lesson, but these three are the
most prominent. He taught me how to be unique, be yourself, always be willing to share, and to
never give up, even when you are tired. As a groovy guy, my small group leader always wore
what the coolest clothes. I loved to talk to him about it. I said I love your style. Where do you
buy your clothes? Many different times, I wore similar clothes to him. I started wearing unique
socks, colored jeans, and many other things. He took more notice than I realized. One day he
took me aside and said You don t have to live exactly like someone else, you just need to be you.
He insisted, saying don t just copy me because you like the way that I dress, find your own groove.
I took these small statements to heart.

Modern Characteristics Of Helen Of Troy
Helen of Troy Humans have always been fixated on looks. Girls want to be the prettiest, have the
best hair, the best body, and the best clothes. Boys want to have the most muscles, lift the most,
be the strongest, and get all the girls. In most of Greek mythology, Helen of Troy is portrayed as
this beauty that no one could match. She is what every girl wanted to be and who every guy
wants to be with, but she also caused a war. Today, when we think of Helen of Troy or Greek
mythology in general, people might think of Disney s Hercules or Rick Riordan s Percy
Jackson. To this day, Helen of Troy is seen as an unobtainable standard of beauty. She is used as
a standard of beauty to sell hair tools, makeup, and spa tools. She is also used as a standard of
beauty to young girls, and she is used as a standard of beauty that will never age. Young girls who
are using classic characters for a standard of beauty will see and hear about her in the modern
adaptations and they will see someone who as this unattainable beauty that they cannot reach. Over
the years, what Helen has symbolized has changed. At the beginning, she was a beautiful woman,
who everyone wanted, but the fight for her was lost in them fighting each other. Today she is slut...

The Passing of Hong Kong to Mainland China Authorities
Percy Craddock, British Ambassador to China, to pass on to Premier Zhao Ziyang. The letter
consented to explore Chinese proposals for Hong Kong s administration. In this first breakthrough,
the British found an effective method to push forward the talks with the Chinese, through
communications between the top leaders. By adding a channel of communication above the
negotiating table, the British found a shortcut to win Chinese concessions by directly appealing to
the people who had the final say. (482 asymmetry).
Finally Britain had realized that it had been taking the wrong approach to negotiating with China.
With the advice from Prime Minister Lee in hand and some firsthand experience of what to expect
from China Britain formulated a new diplomatic strategy for dealing with China. Britain now
understood that if they pushed directly against the Chinese then they would be seen as Colonial
bullies. They had learned that Hong Kong was not just a political or economic matter to China but
that it was a matter of repairing their national pride. They also now understood the intricacies of
Chinese bureaucracy and how to navigate it. British Foreign Secretary Howe came up with a
metaphor that summed up Britain s new strategy. Hoped that it would diminish[ed] as much as
possible the atmosphere of confrontation and would cultivate relations with Chinese leaders. Hong
Kong was like a Ming vase an object of priceless value. He highlighted that the two sides were

Great Recession And The Great Depression
GREAT ECONOMIC TIMES IN AMERICA
The Great Recession and the Great Depression are the fallout of the exact same economic
problems and are only different in a few respects. Each period is marked by a massive run ups in
asset prices followed by a crash in the stock market and sent both debt and equity markets down.
These periods are said to be the worse economic downturn in the country s history. During the great
depression, as banks failed and threatened to shut down the financial system altogether, President
Franklin Roosevelt moved quickly and effectively to address the most dangerous financial crisis of
the Great depression. The massive stock market collapse that began in October 1929 erased
massive amounts of wealth and because many banks had invested heavily in the markets, and had
lent recklessly to speculative investors, the banks found themselves without sufficient capital and in
many cases without reserves. He created the New Deal which responded to an unemployment rate
that had reached 25 percent, and in some cities as much as 75 percent. He signed the Emergency
Banking Act, which allowed inspectors to evaluate troubled banks and decide whether or not they
could reopen. The Glass Steagall Act created a barrier between commercial and investment banking
and established the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, which guaranteed that citizens would
not lose their bank deposits even if a bank failed.

  • 2. Analysis Of Judith Slaying Holofernes Judith Slaying Holofernes by Artemisia Gentileschi ultimately painted one of the most violent representations of Judith in the history of art (Straussman Pflanzer, 12). Gentileschi was the only woman painter of the Baroque period in her time. She was born in Rome in 1593 to Orazio Gentileschi and Prudenzia Montoni. Artemisia was a follower of Caravaggio, whom art is frequently considered primarily in terms of its naturalism (Straussman Pflanzer, 13). She also learned the principles of art from her father and the basic perspective from Tassi. In Judith Slaying Holofernes the woman represented in a yellow costly garment is no other than Judith a Jewish widow. Despite her beauty for deceiving men, she is very brutal in revenge. By easily gaining her way through the Assyrians she gracefully grabs the attention of the General Holofernes, and then kills him by slicing through his neck with his own sword. She is then the heroine figure for Bethulia, Jerusalem, the Temple, and the people (Judith 8:11 12). The story of Judith is told to be a young religious widow from the Jewish city of Bethulia, chops off the head of Holofernes, general of the Assyrian army that had attacked her city. Robin Gallaher Branch states that Judith told the Bethulia leaders to meet her at her home where she could discuss to them her plan on how to save the city from thirst by the enemy (Branch, 1). After getting the approval from her city leaders they acclaim her for her wisdom and released her and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Armadillidium Vulgares Lab Report The results from the experiment was unexpected and they supported one of the hypothesis formed since they failed to reject them, but it rejected the hypothesis that Armadillidium vulgares will prefer glucose water since it is found in its environment. Both of the experiments rejected the null hypothesis since the Armadillidium vulgares showed a preference for wet over dry habitat and glucose water over RO water for their habitat according to the chi square and P value calculated. The preference they had for RO water over glucose was unexpected since glucose is found in detritus (Moriarty, D.J.W., and Pullin, R.S.V. 1987). It was thought that they would select the glucose habitat since it is closer to their natural one; however, it might be due to the fact that the glucose in the environment usually undergoes fermentation and becomes ethanol and perhaps its chemical ethanol that causes Armadillidium vulgares to inhibit in detritus... Since the liquid will expand the size of the sponge, then the surface area of the sponges were not able to be kept as a control since the increase of surface area of the sponge can increase the likelihood of it being chosen. The measurements of the sponges were also taken right after the liquids were added; thus the liquid was not actually fully absorbed by the sponge yet making the measurements not accurate and as the trails went by the sponges expanded more than the recorded measurements causing a change in surface area. The same Armadillidium vulgares were used for the trials, which can cause them to be overexposed or less active as the trials went by, making their activeness not a control in the experiment. To improve the design, the measurements of the sponges after the liquid is added should be measured after a few minutes to ensure that the sponge has fully absorbed all the liquid and that it has reached its maximum ... As A Young Girl In Her Adolescent, Horney Karen Abstract As a young girl in her adolescent, Horney Karen was raised under harsh conditions as written in her diaries, her parents as she describes them as a cruel disciplinary figure held Karen s brother higher than her, this made her feel less loved and became rebellious at an early age. Lack of parental love. This could have led Karen to study more about the theory of personality, this paper, therefore, looks at Horney s theory of personality and how one s life at a younger age affect their personality and relation with others. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Horney Karen (1942) said the take of men on women being pregnant, motherhood, breastfeeding, and breasts lead to men devaluing women. She stated that the self is what determined one s being. That is, if a person had an accurate revelation of themselves, they had a chance to realize and live to their potential. As a psychiatrist, Horney Karen developed a pattern of needs that were derived from neurosis. The needs were based on the things Karen thought people required to be what they required in life. According to Karen, people should have to have two views of themselves, one the real self and the ideal self, whereby the real self is who one is and what they are. Whereby the real self has one s potential for growth, the potential for happiness and power. The ideal self is, on the other hand, is used to help the real self to develop one s potential and achievement of self. Horney came up with an illustration explaining between the real self, despised and the ideal selves, Self realization vacillation Real self ideal self Despised self Healthy person Neurotic person She modified the needs to correspond to individual neuroses as follows and categorized them according to what she called coping strategies, (Ewen, R. 2014, pg.76) as follows; ... Many patients who live in these communities have low literacy levels, and often need help completing medical forms, intake assessments, reading their medical results, bills as well as educational materials. Additional resources for this population should include pictorial pamphlets, medical interpreters and low literacy literature for these patients. • 7. Small Business Technology By Bill Simms Small Business Technology It was an ordinary Thursday evening in suburban Richmond, Virginia. 7PM. Bill Simms makes a right turn on to the expressway ramp in a bid to make it on time to meet his wife for his daughter s ballet recital. He was happy that his new painting business was beginning to thrive. After being laid off, it came as a big relief that private home and small business clients were starting to find him. Though he always had a general affinity for painting, owning a painting company is not what he imagined doing for a living. Still, it was a blessing that was now manifesting as a provident financier of ballet slippers. Although Bill s background was in corporate marketing, he experienced a major learning curve when it came to pitching and selling business services. He soon realized the impact of not having experience as a painter or small business owner. At the start, he received most of his assistance from friends, family, and his wife. Everyone would pitch in to keep up with the back office operations and work flow. As the company grew and became successful, his makeshift team became overwhelmed and thinned out into a two man team. His wife, a local teacher, assisted as best as possible with paperwork while he was in the field servicing clients, but after only a short period of time, both were overwhelmed with generating proposals, quotes, revisions, and invoices. The paperwork portion of running the business became a full time job in and of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Cloud Computing And Its Application Abstract: Cloud computing is an efficient and highly scalable technology that enables enterprise information, software applications and web applications to be stored and executed from a remote infrastructure. It is a highly cost effective infrastructure that runs on highly optimized and fabricated hardware. Since its inception the demand is constantly growing in the software and tech industry which has led to a drastic increase in the energy consumption of data centers and other hosting sites. High power consumption not only contributes to high operational cost but also leads to high carbon emissions which not environment friendly. Thus energy efficient hardware and software solutions are in need to mitigate the harmful effects of Cloud computing technology on environment. In order to design a power efficient system for Cloud infrastructure, thorough analysis of the Cloud computing needs to be done and that knowledge has to be mapped to low level platform developers, network engineers, hardware manufacturers and software engineers. A comprehensive design after considering all the factors and elements of Cloud computing and its application would achieve an environment friendly system. What is Cloud computing? Cloud computing refers to the practice of using software and hardware resources at remote location using internet. Thus cloud computing enables user to rely on such resources on a cloud for processing and storage needs and pay as per usage. One of the most important ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Analysis Of Care Of The Soul By Thomas Moore In Thomas Moore s Care of The Soul, he explains the importance of your soul. He believes that when your soul is neglected, it does not go away instead it appears in ways of addictions, obsessions and possibly violence. Moore discusses modern psychology and his belief that you cannot simply cure, fix, or change (xv). You must try and figure out your symptoms in order to know what your soulcraves. I agree with Moore in that the only way to cope with life problems is to look deeply into ones soul. Moore explains that care of the soul is not primarily a method of problem solving. Its goal is not to make life problem free, but to give ordinary life the depth and value that comes with soulfulness (4). You could never make life problem free. People deal with problems on a daily basis, whether it s learning to deal with the death of a loved one or relationship problems. They need to be able to play, explore, and wonder, as it is imperative, to the care of their soul. I also think there is some truth in that we tend to push children into adulthood because we ourselves long to be childish. It is believed that someone could live many lifetimes before they become a man. Each species is in this process of samsara until one achieves moksha, union with god Brahma. The Hindu religious goal of moksha is not salvation, and does not need forgiveness, but detachment from the material world. Though some people might argue that such a goal with these aspects rejects the natural world as having value, the Hindu goal is to liberate one from the self, from the illusion of the material world as being separate and individual. 2. From this point you can de cock it to make it double action or leave the hammer back for single action. After the first round subsequent shots are of course single action, because the slide is forced back to eject a shell cocking the firearm each time. The revolver is not going anywhere, because people grew up with them, it may have been for many their first handgun that was handed down. • 14. Control The Azimuth Angle Of An Anti Aircraft Gun Abstract: The goal of this project is to control the azimuth angle of an anti aircraft gun. Anti aircraft gun is a type of counter measure gear used to fire tracer rounds to the hostile aircraft. It is a fixed ground gun system which can rotate in azimuth as well as in horizon. It can track the tail of an airship and hunt it down. The first effective anti aircraft gun was used in world war I. But, the most drawback was that, it was human controlled thus human casualties was high. To dominate over the battlefield and reduce the human casualties an automated anti aircraft gun system is a must. In Bangladesh military the artillery division uses Type 55/Type 65/Type 75 anti aircraft gun, but they all are human controlled. So, this project can help developing automated anti aircraft gun that can be used for Bangladesh military and they can keep pace with the other warlords. Introduction: The anti aircraft gun system can sense the location of the hostile object which is at rest or in motion. The exact location or trajectory is fed to the system every time until the gun nose is along the enemy tail. So, there should be a continuous sensing feedback mechanism. According to sensor input the actuator will act to the desired position. During an air assault it is very dangerous for a soldier to operate the countermeasure gear. One hand he has to keep tracking the airship, other hand he needs to keep himself alive from enemy fire. This will distract him from aiming the ship accurately. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are numerous types of depression that can be diagnosed on multiple levels. The diagnosis is usually determined by a primary physician who then recommends you to either a psychologist or therapy group. Causes of depression can vary from person to person. There are many factors to consider such as the person s situation, personality, their reactions to events and family health history. The issues that arise from depression are bad health, heavy drug/alcohol abuse, and the worst, suicide. Depressions problems can be combated even at its worst, it just requires the own persons personal efforts. The most common health problems that occur are anxiety, isolation from others and eating disorders either anorexia or obesity. These issues are already problems for many developing teens. The need to be accepted by their peers pressures them to want to look thin and act differently. Other teens that feel out of place become obese and loose motivation to participate in exercise even if it is best for their health. This disease can be treated, with changing their diet and exercise, so they do not end up killing themselves. Another concern is drug and alcohol abusers who lead a life of hardcore drugs and heavy drinking, which can lead to over dosing and or alcohol poisoning/bad decisions. • 22. Strawson And Jean Donnellan Summary Donnellan, in Reference and Definite Description, outlines two uses of definite descriptions. He argues that definite descriptions can either have an attributive or a referential use. While theories outlined by Strawson and Russell account for a single use, Donnellan advocates for both. To explain both the attributive and referential uses, I will review two examples. The first example, put forth by Donnellan, is for the statement Smith s murderer is insane. There are two ways of interpreting this statement, based on whether the definite descriptionattributes or refers. In one situation, the audience does not know who murdered Smith. If this is the case, then the speaker does not pick someone out. Instead, the speaker s statement uses the definite description attributively. Here, the definite description itself is what is most significant. Meanwhile, if someone, whom we will call Jones, has been accused of the murder, the use changes. When the speaker now makes the statement, the audience picks out Jones as the referent. The definite description has a referential use. It acts as a tool for picking out a particular one or thing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, when we say, Smith s murderer is insane, the implication is not true. The consequences of this differ based on which use of description the speaker is employing. Under an attributive usage, there would be no person who we can truly attribute insanity to. Meanwhile, with a referential usage, the speaker could still successfully refer to Jones. However, the description, insane murderer would no longer fit Jones. The act of picking out is the key function for a referential use of a description. Even if the description is wrong, reference is still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Birth Control Theory In 1798, Thomas Malthus started the slow journey to socially acceptable birth control in Great Britain, when he published his book, An Essay on the Principle of Population. Malthus noted that species of plants and animals tend to produce more offspring then they had the means to sustain. He argued that the British people needed to take action to improve the living conditions of city dwellers, through the prevention of births, by the use of celibacy, controlling the amount of births a family experienced, and lowering the national birth rate. 19th Century views on birth control centered around the early suffragist ideas on planned motherhood. Early suffragist recommended that women abstain from sex to avoid pregnancy, and if they did not refrain from sex, then the withdrawal method or the rhythm method should have been employed. The rhythm method involved following a woman s menstrual cycle to predict when she would be most fertile and avoiding intercourse during those days of the month. Before the popularity of contraceptive devices, early birth control was rather ineffective, and did not improve until the mid twentieth century. During the interwar period of the 1920 s and 1930 , views on birth control changed considerably. Birth rates among the working class stared to drop after the First World War. Directly after the war, 19th century birth control advocates worked to legitimize the decline in births, by disseminating contraceptive information to women in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Mexican Americans Negative Effects The experience of Mexican Americans has been a lifetime of conquest fueled by their historical trauma and underrepresentation that continues to plague the Mexican American community to this present day and most likely still be hundreds of years later. This experience shaped by the defeat of Mexico and the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, where while the terms of treaty theoretically protected Mexican Americans, in practice the Mexican Americans had no protections. This prejudice and discriminationfrom something that should have been protected by the agreement lead to the story of the La Alianza started by Reies Tijerina that started a new fight for the rights that belong to them. The effects of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo have a long lasting impact on Mexican Americans and Mexican population, in Mexico, it brought back the idea that Mexico would have been better off under Spanish rule and that a monarchy is ideally suited for Mexico, this brought forth decades of instability in Mexico (Timothy 184). Consequently, this shows the falling back into a monarchist or authoritarian government when a country and its peoples destroyed, more modern examples are of Germany after World War I. Comparatively the conditions for Mexican Americans were not that better, as mention before while the treaty politically protected, it did not have any way to stymied the racism and discrimination that became directed at them. • 26. Film Analysis Of Inglorious Basterds Tarantino intentionally chose to create a film around despising Nazis because Nazis are a group that all the world agrees to hate, and agree that their actions and beliefs were evil, which makes Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime the gold standard of evil, that is why when people are referred to as Nazis, it s not exactly to say they want to lock Jewish people up, it s because the word Nazi itself has become synonymous with evil. So, to say Inglorious Basterds is a character centered historically inaccurate movie that uses war and Nazis as a backdrop to tell a narrative of evil being subjective. The most important character in this movie is Hans Landa portrayed by actor Christoph Waltz. The character Hans Landa perfectly portrays how evil can be subjective, speaking to slash film Christoph Waltz explained the character by saying I don t think these swastikas are so important to him. When people say Nazi , it s such a gross generalization, I feel. And sometimes I feel compelled to say, Well, he s not even a Nazi. Yes, he wears that uniform, but he doesn t care. Reality includes the process of cloninghumans, types of cloning, products of cloning, cost, and also ethical issues. A first thought when thinking about human cloning might include how is this possible or what s the process and truth be told, the process can definitely seem fascinating but not as difficult as it may appear. Scientists will likely use a method called Somatic cell nuclear transfer or SCNT for short. Somatic cell nuclear transfer begins when scientists take an egg from a female donor and remove the nucleus, making the egg an enucleated egg. Then, a cell with DNA contained within is taken from the person who is being cloned. It is characteristically a disease of young adults, but may occur all across the lifespan making this disease even more devastating.1 Pulmonary hypertension is characterized by elevated intrapulmonary pressures which cause dynamic changes to the cardiovascular system of the affected individual. The adequate functioning of the cardiovascular system is vital to the survival of the patient so while treatment is rarely curative, with the exception of organ transplant which will be discussed later, the main goal of medical therapy is to optimize cardiovascular functioning and stop disease progression allowing people living with this disease the best possible quality of life and level of functioning. There are several types and classifications of pulmonary hypertensionwith multiple pathogenesis. Different treatment modalities have been proven effective to treat this disease process; the mainstay of treatment relies heavily on pharmacologic therapies. I suppose I can conclude that I follow the democratic view on abortion. America also has not agreed on the government s budget and economy. The debate is whether government funds should be focused more on programs for the society or a military. The Democratic Partyopposes the large amount spent on military. They believe a massive amount of money is required for the government to provide a happy, healthy, shameless, and exciting society for everyone. The programs of society are more important to them than all the money spent on our military. According to them, a huge government staff is necessary to ensure that each and every citizen is doing what they are supposed to be doing. They believe penalizing peoples achievements by high taxes, increased government bureaucracy, and spending will lead everyone to prosperity. The Republican Party would like to cut back on government spending, especially in social, environmental, and health programs. They think we should reduce government programs and increase community programs. National Defense is a priority to republicans, which requires a military budget far greater than previous budgets in any of the major wars. • 43. Roundness In No Name Woman Patriarchy as Represented by the Symbol of Roundness in Maxine Hong Kingston s No Name Woman In the short story No Name Woman, Kingston pushes the motif of roundness pass its traditional connotations of family, union, and fulfilment, and through it explores Chinese feudal traditions as a tool of suppression for women, and the erased narrative of her aunt s fatal transgressions. Roundness features heavily in Chinese cultural iconography, in round mooncakes, round doorways, round windows, and round rice bowls, of the Chinese (Kingston 13). Its associations with perfection, harmony, and familial values serve as a reminder of the law: the family must whole, faithfully keeping the descent line by having sons to feed the old and the dead, who in turn look after the family (13). In other words, roundness is the status quo, which bears particularly harshly on women in hard times, when to be woman, to have a daughter in starvation time was waste enough (6). ... The narrator s menstruation (Yue Jin in Chinese, as in the moon s passing once again, the roundness motif) mirrors the her aunt s, her forerunner[ s] (8) protruding melon of a stomach (3). Indeed, the narrator views her childhood, barred from simple joys of flying high kites and carnival ride[s] and having to pa[y] in guilt (6) when she dares disobey, as markedly similar to her aunt s life. Under the feudal system, women are relegated to the role of extending the descent line into perpetuity. Roundness, as critic Sau Ling Cynthia Wong describes, is mindlessly self perpetuating; if a symbol of perfection and self sufficiency, a circle also represents confinement ( Necessity and Extravagance in Maxine Hong Kingston s The Woman Warrior: Art and the Ethnic Experience ... • 46. Impact Of The Anti War On The Vietnam War Between 1965 And... Year 10 Australian History Why was Australian society divided over the issue of our involvement in the Vietnam War between 1965 and 1975? (750 1000 words) During the decade of 1965 1975, Australian society was controversially divided over the involvement of Australian troops in the Vietnam War. At the peak of the nations involvement, some 8,500 troops were serving for their country. Vietnam was split into the democratic north and the communist south, which was highly supported by the USA and most of its allies such as New Zealand and Thailand. There were three main reasons of which Australia entered the Vietnam War, which all equally contributed eccentrically to the division of Australian societies opinions of whether it was necessary that we as a nation become involved in the Vietnam War. These reasons are the threat of communism, supporting the alliances with the United States of America, and requests for the Australian troops involvement in armed conflict as well as tactical planning. The final topic of relevance being discussed is the impact of the anti war protest beginning in 1969. Firstly, the threat of communism was immense. There was a genuine belief and somewhat fear of communism from Asia sprawling into Australian society. The main objective of the South East Asia defence treaty, known as SEATO, involved preventing Southern Vietnam from becoming a communist state by force of arms and terrorism. According to The Sydney Morning Herald (June 24, 1971), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many different times he surprised me with how he acted, spoke and thought. I clearly saw the Lordlead his life, and his actions revealed as much. I wanted to follow his example. There are many different times where Matt taught me a life lesson, but these three are the most prominent. He taught me how to be unique, be yourself, always be willing to share, and to never give up, even when you are tired. As a groovy guy, my small group leader always wore what the coolest clothes. I started wearing unique socks, colored jeans, and many other things. He took more notice than I realized. The letter consented to explore Chinese proposals for Hong Kong s administration. In this first breakthrough, the British found an effective method to push forward the talks with the Chinese, through communications between the top leaders. By adding a channel of communication above the negotiating table, the British found a shortcut to win Chinese concessions by directly appealing to the people who had the final say. (482 asymmetry). Finally Britain had realized that it had been taking the wrong approach to negotiating with China. With the advice from Prime Minister Lee in hand and some firsthand experience of what to expect from China Britain formulated a new diplomatic strategy for dealing with China. Britain now understood that if they pushed directly against the Chinese then they would be seen as Colonial bullies. They had learned that Hong Kong was not just a political or economic matter to China but that it was a matter of repairing their national pride. They also now understood the intricacies of Chinese bureaucracy and how to navigate it. British Foreign Secretary Howe came up with a metaphor that summed up Britain s new strategy. Great Recession And The Great Depression GREAT ECONOMIC TIMES IN AMERICA The Great Recession and the Great Depression are the fallout of the exact same economic problems and are only different in a few respects. Each period is marked by a massive run ups in asset prices followed by a crash in the stock market and sent both debt and equity markets down. These periods are said to be the worse economic downturn in the country s history. During the great depression, as banks failed and threatened to shut down the financial system altogether, President Franklin Roosevelt moved quickly and effectively to address the most dangerous financial crisis of the Great depression. The massive stock market collapse that began in October 1929 erased massive amounts of wealth and because many banks had invested heavily in the markets, and had lent recklessly to speculative investors, the banks found themselves without sufficient capital and in many cases without reserves. He created the New Deal which responded to an unemployment rate that had reached 25 percent, and in some cities as much as 75 percent. He signed the Emergency Banking Act, which allowed inspectors to evaluate troubled banks and decide whether or not they could reopen.
