biotechnology for the Los Angeles Times, claims that the Pharmaceutical companies are taking
advantage of Americans. Peterson proceeds by using facts that support her claim that
Pharmaceutical companies are making profit from Americans, by convincing the people they
cannot function without their meds. Peterson goes deeper by making points that America is the
biggest Pharmaceutical company, at which they produce unnecessary products. To continue,
Peterson also leads into how Pharmaceutical companies advertise to the most profitable target
consumers. Peterson uses Secretary of

Essay On Marvel Vs Dc
Marvel versus DC is a debate that has been reignited with the launch of multiple movies featuring
heroes from each universe. Each universe has its own heroes and villains. The subject of this
paper is to determine which would be the safer universe. While DC and Marvel both have many
characters, only some of the characters in each universe have god like abilities. Certain characters
from the Marvel and DC universe have the ability to end all life in the solar system, galaxy and
possibly the universe.
Both Marvel and DC have their collection of heroes and villains. The only heroes and villains that
will be compared are ones with near god like abilities. Superman is one of these god like heroes
from the DC universe. He has the ability to fly, super strength, near invincibility, super speed, and
laser vision. Although he was killed in the events of Batman V Superman, he was revived in the
events of Justice League. Superman could destroy tanks, planes and other enemies with relative
ease. His comparative hero from the Marvel universe is Thor. Although Thor cannot fly without his
hammer, he has the ability to call down lightning, super strength and immortality. Thor did lose his
eye in the events of Thor: Ragnarok, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Marvel has a plentiful amount of world or possibly universe ending events, DC does not.
In the events of the Marvel movie Thor: A Dark World, Malekith is the villain. He obtains a
superweapon named The Aether . He plans to use this weapon, which destroys all organic life,
during an event dubbed the Universal Alignment . Universal Alignment is when all nine realms of
their universe are in alignment. This would allow him to launch the Aether through all nine realms.
The Aethers power would exponentially increase for every realm it passed through. If Malekith
was successful in using the weapon, all organic life in the universe would have been

Stage Dance Research Paper
Stage Fright
Alright, now we will be moving on to our Teen Elite division! Next up, we have entry number one
hundred and thirty six, Billie Jean!
Run through your choreography one last time. Make mom proud. Even more importantly, make
Miss Maria proud. You can t mess up, there are so many people watching. These are all things
racing through my mind as I make my way to being only inches away from one of the most
terrifying moments of my life: Performing my first ever solo on a stage in front of three judges
and hundreds of people. Don t forget to hold eight counts first. I cannot believe I m actually about
to do this. Don t stress yourself out. You ll do fine.
The music starts. I hold my first eight counts. Moonwalk backwards for four. Slap heel step heel
step heel toe hop, and repeat. Move on to the next set of choreography. I start out strong, my
chest lifted and my smile bright and beaming like the sun. I continue to perform the choreography,
only making a few minor mistakes along the way. Coming up is the most difficult task of all:
getting up onto my light up platform while tapping. I approach the box from behind, step up onto
it, and BAM!, It lights up right on cue. The crowd does not expect this, and neither do the judges.
The audience goes nuts, and the judges throw up their hands as if they were on a roller ... Show

I learned many things about competing, and because I did those solo performances, I m a better
dancer in small group and large group ensemble performances. Receiving critiques on tape from
the judges helped me to feel more comfortable on stage during my following competitions, when I
wasn t very comfortable at all at this one. The judges give lots of encouragement in the critiques,
and getting hardly any actual critiques is very reassuring. Competitions are now less intimidating,
and It s a lot easier for me to just go out and dance and not having to

Serial Killers
Dennis Nilson stated a mind can be evil without being abnormal . If this is the case, then what
makes a serial killer tick? The definition of a serial killer is; a series of two or more murders
committed as separate events usually, but not always, by one offender standing alone. (Brookes,
1988) Over the years, many murderers have been given this term. From the early days of Jack the
Ripper, to the most recently publicized case of the sniper , all have different motives and reasons
to the crimes that they commit. Most of the serial killers suffer from mental illness/addictions or
have had traumatic life experiences. This is not always the case though; some can also be racially
motivated. The typical serial killeris a lower to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malvo was sentenced to many life sentences without parole, and Muhammad was sentenced to the
death penalty. Both killers still have pending trials within other states.
Forensic Science
Forensic and DNA casework has been a major player in catching these cold blooded killers. Since
most investigators have to work from clues, they rely on these sources to lead them in the right
direction. Many findings such as, blood, weapons, hair, or any source of DNA can help put the
puzzle pieces of these cases together. This has solved many cases, and is a strong piece of
evidence in the judicial system.
Muhammad Malvoy, The Snipers In the sniper case, an anonymous caller (believed to be
Muhammad) told a priest to inform police to investigate a robbery in Alabama. When the police
looked into the robbery, part of the evidence Alabama s police force had found were a set of
fingerprints from a magazine. Further investigation proved these prints belongs to Malvo, who
was already on file. Since Malvo lived with Muhammad for a year in Washington, they were both
linked together. After police knew about Muhammad, they discovered he purchased an old police
car in New Jersey. After announcing to the public the type of vehicle to search for, it led to the
capture of the two killers.

Auditing Profession
Auditing is the accumulation and evaluation of evidence about information to determine and report
on the degree of correspondence between the information and established criteria (Arens, Elder,
Beasley, 2010). Auditing should be done by a competent, independent person. Accounting is the
recording, classifying, and summarizing of economic events in a logical manner for the purpose of
providing financial information for decision making (Arens, Elder, Beasley, 2010). Many people
confuse auditingwith accounting because auditing is usually concerned with accounting
information, and many auditors have a considerable amount of experience in the accounting
profession. This confusion results from the certified public accountanttitle given to... Show more

Internal audit experience can be used to fulfill the experience requirement for becoming a CPA
(Arens, Elder, Beasley, 2010).
The AICPA is the organization that sets professional requirements for CPAs. The AICPA also
conducts research and publishes materials on many different subjects related to accounting,
auditing, management advisory services, and taxes (Arens, Elder, Beasley, 2010). The
organization also prepares and grades the CPA examinations, provides continuing education to its
members, and develops specialty designations to help market and assure the quality of services in
specialized practice areas (Arens, Elder, Beasley, 2010).
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board provides oversight for auditors of public
companies, including establishing auditing and quality control standards for public company
audits, and performing inspections of the quality controls at audit firms performing those audits
(Arens, Elder, Beasley, 2010). The PCAOB has responsibility for establishing auditing standards
for public companies, while the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) of the AICPA establishes
auditing standards for private companies. The ASB previously had responsibility for establishing
auditing standards for both public and private companies (Arens, Elder, Beasley, 2010). Existing
auditing standards were adopted by the PCAOB as interim auditing standards for public company
audits (Arens, Elder, Beasley, 2010).

The Influence Of The Ancient Greek Olympic Games
The ancient Greek people came up with many ideas and made many advancements that changed
today s world. One such creation was the Olympics. Athletes all over the world dedicate their lives
to a sport, using a combination of talent and hard work in the hope they they will one day represent
their country in the Olympic Games. These Games first came into existence in ancient Greece
during the year 776 BC. According to an article published by the Penn Museum, The ancient
Olympic Gameswere primarily a part of a religious festival in honor of Zeus, the father of the
Greek gods and goddesses. Though the Games died out around 400 AD, the idea remained.
Then, in 1896, the first modern day Olympics took place in their place of origin Olympia, Greece
with 34 participating countries. From there, they continued to grow in size until they became the
massive global event that they are today (The ancient Olympic games, 2017). Even though few
people know much about Zeus, and even fewer people care, it is thanks to him and the rest of the
Greek gods and goddesses that the world can come together every four years and honor the the best
of the best.
Word origins
Even the words people speak would not be the same without the influence of Greek mythology.
Many of the people from the Greek stories made such an impact that their names were used to
create many of the words that are spoken today.

addressing?) The problem statement to these three articles is to see if organic farming is
capable of sustaining the global population by weighing the pros and cons of organic vs
conventional farming. 2.Who are the authors and what are their qualifications? First author,
DiGregori has neither expertise or credential; he is a phD in Economics and does not have any
experience dealing with agronomy nor did he cite anyone. Second author, Vasilikiotis, is well
qualified for writing about this article subject. Vasilikiotis has a phD in agricultural and
biological sciences, meaning that he has done research in this field and is knowledgeable. He
also has cited many other researches done by scientists and elaborated on the results. The third
author, Stockdale, has a phD in physics so he doesn t have any expertise in the field. However,
he has a couple of citations from other scientists and researchers that seems credible. 3.Clearly
define pseudoscience. Explain why we need to be cautious of pseudoscience with this issue.
Pseudoscience is science that cannot be tested or proven. It usually derives from faulty non
empirical logic and is hard to spot due to fake citations and similarity to real science. We should be
caution of pseudoscience because it is ubiquitous in the scientific world and can be detrimental
when used to support a scientific claim. 4.Discuss appropriate standards to

Carbon Nanotubes On The Delivery Of Pharmaceuticals

Carbon nanotubes in the delivery of pharmaceuticals in medicine

The most clinically effective treatments for cancer were ironically incredibly detrimental to the
human body s health. These included, chemotherapy and radiation. These two methods did in fact
destroy the malignant cells yet also caused apoptosis in healthy cells damaging them beyond repair
and thus causing a great detriment to the patients health. However, recently, due to the endeavours
of nanotechnology, it has been discovered that carbon nanotubes can effectively carry anti cancer
drugs destroying the malignant cancer cells without damaging the healthy cells, in other words, the

Nanotechnology is the design, characterisation, production and application of structure, devices
or systems by controlled manipulation of size and shape at the nanoscale. (Nanomed, 2005)
This should produce a structure or device with at least one new or superior characteristic. The
nanoscale is less than 100nm. CNTs have shown a great deal of potential use as nano carriers
for delivering anti cancer drugs directly to the sight of action. However, CNTs must be
functionalized, as pure CNTs are difficult to incorporate into biological structures due to their
insolubility and their tendency to bundle up. There are two main ways to functionalize CNTs
yet the best method is by oxidation leading to carboxyl based couplings. The tube caps openings
are created and holes in the side wall form by process of oxidation involving strong acids. These
carboxylic group allow covalent coupling with other molecules by amide or ester bonds (see
figure 2.1) as a result, CNTs can be conjugated with anti cancer drugs. It is a benefit to
functionalize CNTs as functionalized CNTs have been shown in many studies to be able to cross
cell membranes (Pantarotte et al.) this means that CNTs can now be used to deliver anti cancer
drugs into direct cells.
Now that CNTs can be used in biological structures, there are three methods of incorporating the
drugs to the CNT. These are by attachment of the drug to the outer surface; covalent or non covalent
bonding. Or, loading the CNTs

Sons Of Liberty Apush Dbq
1. How do the Sons of Liberty explain Britain s motivations for passing the Tea Act The British
Empire was left heavily in debt by the Seven Years War and for the first time, Parliament began
looking at the colonies as a source to raise money from direct taxes (Foner, Voices 86). During the
late 1700 s, the colonists were constantly at odds with the British government, who were attempting
to gain greater oversight and control. The Sons of Liberty, a group made up of different merchants
and classes of workers, were opposed to the many regulations and taxes levied on them by
Parliament. One of their main concerns was being taxed unfairly without representation and they
viewed this as a threat to their liberty. The Sons took the lead in organizing resistance groups and
enforcing boycott efforts to reject Parliament s overreach (Foner, Voices 91).

The Act was not intended to benefit the colonies in any way and it was met with great
resistance. The Tea Act served two purposes: to bail out the East India Company financially by
giving it a monopoly on tea sales and to assert Parliament s authority over the colonists since they
were not allowed to buy tea from any other merchant. The East India Company was a private
company, but played an important role in the British economy. The obvious favoritism angered
many of the colonial tea merchants because they were unfairly cut out of the process and driven
out of business. Parliament gave the East India Company a series of rebates and tax exemptions,
which allowed them to deliver a large amount of low priced tea to the colonies (Foner, Give 192).

Symbols Of The Four Horsemen
The four horsemen are symbols of the decline which describes the political, economic, and social
framework that society is built upon. They are said to appear when the first four seals of the
apocalypse are opened. There are seven seals in all, but the first four contain the horsemen. The
only thing that opens the seals is the lamb, better known as Jesus Christ. There are many
theories of when they have appeared in the past and where they will appear in the future. There
are different interpretations of what and who they represent. No one really knows why they
come or when. My goal in this paper is to explain to you who the four horsemen are, when they
have and will they will come, along with what they represent. In the Bible, they say that any man,

wrath of God, That they will be saved and brought to heaven so they do not have to endure the

from 1861 till 1865. This was obviously symbolizing war. In 1873 until 1879 was the Panic of

Using ethos pathos and logos in modern film
English 102 For this assignment, I ve chosen to analyze the movie, Gone Girl and television
show, The Office. Gone Girl, a movie still in theaters, stars Neil Patrick Harris and Ben Affleck
and is based off a 2012 book. The book, written by Gillian Flynn, has since been a New York
Times Best Seller. The Office was a television show spanning from 2005 2013 and earned
multiple awards. Both the book and movie are extremely graphic in nature, so the target audience
is geared more towards college students and beyond. I know this simply by the plot and R rating.
The story depicts Nick and Amy Dunne and their difficult marriage. Nick, played by Affleck,

Amy then seduces her former over, slits his throat, and heads back home with Nick. Amy claims
she was raped every day by Desi and killing was the only way out. But knowing the real truth,
Nick wants to leave Amy but is unable to after discovering that Amy is indeed pregnant. Without
telling her husband, she went to sperm bank having used sperm Nick stored. He reacts violently,
but decides to stay with Amy for the sake of the child. The Office has a wide range audience,
because unlike Good Girl, it s not a show graphic in nature. It s a funny show, about the struggles
of working at a failing paper company. Perhaps this show is suited for those in high school and
older. I miss watching this show with my parents, because they enjoyed it as much as I did. Like
Good Girl, this show utilizes ethos, pathos and logos. A good example of logos would be the
relationship between two co workers, Dwight Schrute and Jim Halpert. Dwight, a salesman,
wears glasses, parts his hair and wears a mustard colored short sleeve dress shirt and tie to work
every day. When he s not working, he enjoys growing beats on his 42 acre beat farm with his
cousin and watching Battlestar Galactica. To put it lightly, Dwight is a complete nerd. But Jim, on
the other hand, is the king of the office. Jim flirts with his female coworkers, enjoys playing sports,
complains about his job and dates the best looking women.

The Era Of America After The Antebellum Period
It is believed that the beginning of a task is often the most important as well as the most difficult,
because it consists of discovering the basis to success with a greater chance of failure. The
establishment of America after gaining independence from Great Britain relied heavily on the
foundations set during the antebellum period, which is often classified as the period of time before
the civil war. During such vital time in American history came a number of fundamental Supreme
Court cases. The outcome of various cases significantly shaped the future of America into the
country we know today. Perhaps some of the most important cases include Marbury v. Madison,
Gibbons v. Ogden, and Dred Scott v. Sandford. McCulloch v. Maryland is possibly the most
prominent Supreme Court case throughout the antebellum period that occurred in 1819, even
though different interpretations of the Necessary and Proper Clause have led to many controversies
regarding its meaning and the potential supreme authority of congress, this landmark case
established that the federal government has certain implied powers under the constitution.
Primarily, individuals who supported the National Bank argued that the bank was essential in
regulating the money distributed by state banks. However, many states wanted nothing concerning
the National Bank in their precincts in fear of state banks being rundown. Citizens that opposed
claimed that Congress did not have the power to establish a National Bank and

In his Quintet for Clarinet, 2 Violins, Viola, and Cello Op. 115, Brahms creates an important and
influential work in the chamber music repertoire. By writing his Quintet for the specific clarinetist
Richard MГјhlfeld s artistic brilliance, and by taking musical liberties with conventional forms and
expectations, Brahms crafts the intimacy and seriousness one has come to expect from chamber
music. Towards the end of his life, Brahms had intended on retiring from composing. Around 1891,

Brahms s music at well known festivals in the area. Previous to meeting MГјhlfeld, Brahms had no

The Joachim Quartet concerts were known for being a major series performing strictly string
chamber music. Brahms had convinced Joachim with his manuscripts that the work was worthy of
the sacrifice of adding clarinet and piano to the series. The highly regarded reputation of the
Joachim concerts certainly allowed for the seriousness of the Quintet to be featured, for all of the
cleaver composition techniques Brahms employed were certainly appreciated by the intellectual
audiences the Quartet frequently attracted. The Quintet follows the general guidelines for form that
audiences of the time have come to expect from serious string chamber music pieces. The first
movement acts as a Sonata form with some unexpected variation, the second as a three part song
form. The third and fourth movements begin to some unconventional practices. In the third, instead
of a scherzo movement in 3/4 time, we get a sonata allegro in 4/4 and 2/4 time. In the fourth, the
audience gets a theme and variations, but the tempo is considerably slower than what one would
normally expect from a concluding movement. In 1891, the only memorable clarinet quintet was
composed by Mozart. If one were to come into a performance of the Brahms Quintet with Mozart s
Quintet in mind, they would expect the clarinet to take the most important role, with the strings
accompanying more often than not. This is certainly not the case in Brahms s work, as the

A Case Against Adoption
As a result of the Supreme Courts ruling the U.S. has been split into two sides, those for abortion
and those against. The Pro Choice campaign has many key arguments as to why it should be legal.
The most popular is that it is the best option when it comes to rape or incest. The reasoning behind
this is that the psychological trauma of an abortionis lees than of the woman gives birth to the child.
The woman could hate the child or project their negative emotions on the child. Thus causing the
child to grow up with the feelings of being unloved. the next argument is that adoption is not an
alternative to abortion. This is because the women still has to make the decision of whether or not
give the child up for adoption. Research has shown that

The Play By F. Priestley
The play is set in 1912 just two years before the war. This was a very hard and difficult time for
England a period when they were many strikes, food shortages and political tension. In contrast
to this the play was written in 1945, which was after world war two when the country was in
great disorder. Priestly deliberately set his play in 1912 because the date represented an era when
all was very different from the time he was writing, rigid class and gender boundaries seemed to
ensure that nothing would change. Yet by 1945 most of the class genders have been breached.
Priestly wanted to make most of these changes through his play he encouraged people to seize the
opportunity the end of the war had given them, to build a better and more caring society.
At the beginning of the play, Priestly introduces us to the character, Arthur Birling as being a
powerful man in the family. This can be seen when the family is sitting on the table, Arthur
Birling at one end and his wife at the other . Priestly deliberately stated this because it shows that
Arthur Birling has a higher status than his wife, as she is not equal to him, she s separated. It
shows the division between the couple and an era where women had a lower status and less
rights then men. As well as being powerful Priestly has also presented Arthur Birling as a self
obsessed, work oriented hard headed, practical man of business . This is throughout the whole play
because whenever a topic is discussed, Birling always

Disconcerting Behavior In Tennessee Williams A Streetcar...
English Essay
Compare the ways the writers present the disconcerting behaviour in both texts so far.
Firstly, in Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire , the writer presents disconcerting
behaviour throughout the text. Tennessee Williams uses Stanley to display different types of
disturbing behaviour, and the events that occur due to his attitude. Stanley is presented having a
masculine, animalistic nature, which includes his open violent behaviour. His animalistic nature is
displayed when he charges after Stella , in scene three of the play, and when there is the sound of a
blow in the household, indicating that Stanley had physically hurt Stella so much causing her to
cry. Critic, Michael Coveney explains that in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In comparison, this is a very interesting way for a 16 year old to behave and the animalistic nature
has obviously been used for a different cause to A Streetcar Named Desireas Stanleys behaviour is
still quite common among his friends and isn t so much of a strange way to behave compared to
Franks behaviour. Critic, Papa Puppet explains his opinion is that Frank rips your fears from the
base of your brain and move them, puppetlike, eerily masterful withal, into your worst nightmares. ,
showing that Frank is not in his right mind his behaviour is sincerely disconcerting.
Another character in the play, A Streetcar Named Desire that is used to present disturbing
behaviour is Blanche. The writer uses her to present disconcerting behaviour due to her susceptible
alcohol problem. Blanche is presented by the writer to the audience to be a quite unstable
character, that comes across to be strangley covert. At the early stage of her visit to her sister Stella,
Blanche rushes to the closet and removes the bottle , Tennessee Williamsthen begins to show her
unstableness when she starts shaking all over and panting for breath. This clearly reveals that
Blanche has an unconventional reliance on alcohol in order to calm her nerves . Blanche
obviously doesn t feel comfortable for some reason without drinking some sort of alcohol and its

Mercantilism s Effect On The American Rebellion In 1776
The theory of mercantilism is a belief that wealth is power. This led many countries to become
money hungry because the countries wanted to be powerful. Great Britain believed in
mercantilism, as shown in its interactions with its colonies in America. Mercantilism is shown
economically through the many laws that Britain passed that taxed the colonies. In addition, it is
shown socially through the colonists cries of No taxation without representation. Without a doubt,
mercantilisms economic effects led Americans to rebel in 1776. However, mercantilism s social
effects had an even bigger effect on the colonies rebelling from Great Britain.

The Stamp Act shows the major social effect of these taxes. The colonies were so angry about
the Stamp Act, that on the day it was supposed to go into effect, it could not because there was no
one left to sell the stamps. All of the stamp sellers had been scared or forced out of office by the
colonists. The effects of mercantilism were also seen through the colonists cry of No taxation
without representation. They were against all of the taxes Britain set up in the colonies due to the
mercantilist system. The colonists were not directly represented in Britain s parliament, so getting
taxed by Britain irritated the colonists. One final social effect of the mercantilist system of Great
Britain was the nonimportation agreements the colonists had. The colonists agreed to not import
things from Britain and instead make the things themselves. These agreements were also designed
to hurt Britain, since the colonies were a major source of imports and exports for Britain. The
social effects all show how the colonists were tired of taxing, and therefore thought it would be
better to be their own country instead of

Literary Techniques In Hatchet By Gary Paulsen
Things seemed to go back and forth between reality and imagination expect that it was all reality.
Hatchet is an adventure novel which tells the story of thirteen year old Brian Robeson, who finds
himself alone in the wilderness, having to learn how to survive. The only thing Brian is left with
is a hatchet, a present his mother had given to him shortly before his plane departed for Canada.
Hatchet follows Brian along on his journey in the Canadian wilderness, each day discovering more
about himself, and the needs for survival.
The author Gary Paulsen, uses different literary techniques to help the reader grasp a deeper
meaning of the story. Throughout the book, Paulsen explores the use of similes and repetition to
bring the characters and setting of the story to life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using similes to describe whereabouts helps the reader to connect with the story at a deeper and
more meaningful level. Brian s entry into the wilderness occurred when he was put in the
position where he only had one choice, to crash the plane. Then a wild crashing sound, ripping of
metal, and the plane rolled to the right and blew through the trees, out over the water and down,
down to slam into the lake, skip once on water as hard as concrete, water that tore the windshield
out and shattered the side windows, water that drove him back into the seat. (Paulsen, pg. 23). The
comparisons made between Brian s location, and the objects and specific things in our lives, helps
the reader to create a better understanding as readers can relate to their own personal

Egyptian Afterlife Beliefs
The ancient Egyptian s views were very different than those of the views of the Mesopotamians
who viewed the afterlife as this dark and gloomy place where no matter what your status was on
earth everyone was the same in the afterlife. The Mesopotamian s believed that the afterlife was
the total opposite of life on earth; people would eat clay, drink dirt and wear garments made out of
feathers. In contrast, the Egyptiansviewed the afterlife as a mirror image of life on earth. Egyptians
were buried with their most valuable possessions so that they would have these things in the
afterlife as well. The Egyptians praised their pharaohs and believed that the pharaohs served with

Complications Of Social Disorganization
Criminal justice professionals utilize social disorganization to predict future trends in criminal
behavior. Many factors influence and control social disorganization; this paper will explain
exactly what social disorganization is, as well as its relationship or connection to organized crime
and criminal behavior. Today s corrupt political groups can have a direct and immediate effect on
social disorganization, as well as organized criminal activity ( Social Disorganization and Rural
Communities , 2003).
What is Social Disorganization? According to Bursik, (1988), the definition of social
disorganization is an inability of community members to achieve shared values or to solve jointly
experienced problems . Both theoretical and empirical research has focused on urban settings when
studying influencers on crime and delinquencies. Current versions of social disorganization theory
assume that strong social relationships will prevent crime and delinquency ( Social
Disorganization and Rural Communities , 2003). Crime can become more prevalent spawned
from neighborhoods with close living conditions such as apartment complexes or duplexes. Crime
rates can also be higher in areas that have a breakdown in the family unit. An example of family
unit breakdown could be a single parent family and divorce. Children that have a lack of social
control, order, and often turn to criminal activity many times come from these affected
neighborhoods ( Crime Social

Aaron Feuerstein A Socially Responsible Owner
The evening of December 11, 1995, was a special time for Aaron Feuerstein, CEO of Malden
Mills. A small surprise 70th birthday party quietly was held in his honor at a local Boston
restaurant. But Feuerstein s life took a dramatic turn that evening for a different reason: A boiler at
his company s plant exploded, setting off a fire that injured 33employees and destroyed three of
the factory s century old buildings. Malden Mills was a privately owned firm, with Feuerstein
owning a majority share. The firm was located in a small Massachusetts town, Methuen, and
employed nearly 3,000 people in the economically depressed area. The fire was a devastating blow
for the community. According... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Bank of Boston donated $50,000, the company s union sent $100,000, and the Chamber of
Commerce in nearby Lawrence, Massachusetts, contributed $150,000. Many of Malden Mills
customers promised to stick with the company and wait for them to rebuild and regain their
production capacity rather than switch to a competitor.
Just eight months after the fire, three of the four production lines at Malden Mills were fully
operational and all but 500 of the nearly 2,400 employees were back to work in the factory. But
unexpected downturns in the apparel industry challenged the wisdom of Feuerstein s actions. By
1998, employees at Malden Mills experienced steady layoffs and the firm acquired $120 million
in debt. Under the leadership of new chief operating officer Gerald Bowe, following the values of
the company s founder, Malden Mills experienced a turnaround in 1999. Hourly employee recalls
numbered 1,500, bringing the total number of employees back to the level at the time of fire.
Government and overseas contracts countered the decline in sales in the competitive domestic
market, and Malden Mills appeared to be recovering from its financial setbacks as the firm entered
the twenty first century. Aaron Feuersteins commitment to both the company s economic and
social mission and goals appeared to have emerged from ashes intact.

In Wacquant s (2004:16) view, one needs to acquire a set of bodily and mental schemata and
also to construct the theory of practice to effectively participate in sports (Bourdieu, 1997).
Borrowing from this approach, I will seek to understand and describe my lived experience
through active participation in sports. In this regard, my research will follow the dictates of
Mauss, (1979) that, to attain a disposition to do sports as in the case of any other technique of
the body, the work done by the individual will be for practical collective reason (that underlines
accepted theories of social action). In societies where athletes excel, the benefit is not for only
the athlete but also the community as Brownell (1995:15) explains in training the body for China
. Developing his ideas further, Mauss (1979) posited that there are instances where a physio
psycho sociological congregation of series of action may be habitual or ancient in the life of the
individual and also in the history of the society. The idea of a habitual physio psycho sociological
comportment might help account for why women do not participate in sports to the same degree as

stability of your home and career and often bragging patriotically. Then your boss decides to
have an inspection, laying off immigrant employees. Going to your mother to ask for your birth
certificate, you find out you were actually born in Mexico. You get laid off and have to work as

protagonist in the TV series called Family Guy. While working for Carter Pewterschmidt, his
father in law, he meets another immigrant employee who helps him around the mansion and
gives him some insight on his life. Overall, the episode was a great example of one s view of the
American Dream. Its ideas were also very similar to claims made by an author regarding the
American Dream. Tim Roemer, author of America remains the world s beacon of success ,

the U.S as a land of opportunity. Both Roemer s article and the specified episode of Family Guy

America is the goal for studying and that although other countries are facing devastating challenges,
people can still prosper in the U.S.

Fighting Stereotypes Of Asian Americans
Fighting Stereotypes of Asian Americans in the Media According to the Center for Disease
Control and Prevention website in 2013 Asians made up for 4.8 percent of Americas population
with 14.7 million individuals. That population is expected to increase to 40.6 million, or 9.2
percent of American population by the year 2050 and consist of over 30 different ethnicities.
Teresa Mok of Purdue University stated in 1998 that Despite their increasing numbers and
heterogeneity, little reflection of the diversity within Asian America is seen in mass media images
(p. 186). In addition to a lack of ethnic diversity often times Asian Americans are left out of film
and television altogether. Media Action Network for Asian Americans (2015) recently criticized
Sony pictures for their white washed movie Aloha. Even though the film is set in Hawaiithe
majority of the cast is white with very little representation of Asian Americans or Pacific Islanders.
MANAA (2015) Founding President Guy Aoki said, 60% of Hawaii s population is AAPIs,
Caucasians only make up thirty percent of the population, but from watching this film, you d think
they made up ninety percent (n.p.). While unsuccessful in representing the ethnic diversity of Asian
Americans, or not representing them at all, the dominant group controlled media has been
successful in portraying them in very stereotypical manners.
Since first immigrating into the United States, Asian communities have lived under stereotypes.

populations and he discussed the evolution of tool use among a variety of groups of hunter

varies greatly among populations and he focuses on why this variation exists. He starts off by
discussing and analyzing toolkit variation in both hunter gatherer and farming societies and then
moves on to discuss overall technological variation in these societies and the possible explanation
for it. He lists four hypotheses that help explain this variation in toolkits among groups. They are

He then moves on to food producers (farmers) instead of hunter gatherers. He notes that
population size is a major driver in technological variation among food producers and there is no
evidence of risk of resource failure in these larger groups. I think that the most interesting
question posed by Mark Collard is whether there is a difference between hunter gatherers and
food producers in regards to toolkit variation. Not only is he interested in the difference between
the two group types, he uses multiple variables and hypotheses to measure and analyze these
differences. If I was to do this experiment, it would have never crossed my mind to compare
groups of different composition and social structure. I would have thought that humans are all
capable of the same activities and that global variation among toolkit complexity and richness was
due mostly to environmental factors. The most important thing I learned was how tool use evolved
over time, leading to our species current use of advanced tools. Even though Collard did not speak
about humans over a long period of time or directly about human evolution, one can deduce that as
our species evolved from foragers to organized societies, our toolkit complexity and richness
increased dramatically. Given the information in

Comparing Home Burial And Tuft Of Flowers
Individuals perspective often differs in the consequences of a new finding as a natural human

is also expressed in Jean Giono s short story, A Man Who Planted Trees where the narrator
discovers the effects of one s relationship with nature.
Robert frost s Home Burial has serious ramifications on the persona according to their perspective.
This is best explored when the persona says, He saw her from the bottom of the stairs before she

Many professional sports leagues and teams, including Major League Soccer, National Hockey
League, and US Ski Team use Under Armour as their official supplier for performance apparel. In
the summer of 2004, Under Armour became the exclusive athletic ware supplier for the entire
United States Military.
Consistency tends to be the best assets that Under Armour has to their advantage. According to
Plank, he states that the success of a business, starts with a good product, and he continued to say
that after you have a good product, use front end hustle with back end muscle. Due to this
consistent product that Under Armour produces, it has obtained a heavy customer loyalty. Sales
and revenue speak for themselves. In 1996, Under Armour had revenues of fifty thousand dollars
compared to 200 million in 2004.
Originally, Under Armour was manufactured in a basement in the Georgetown district of NW
Washington DC. Today, Corporate Under Armour and its manufacturing plant resides on the
Baltimore Inner Harbor, except for one factory store in Ellenton, FL. They currently are using a lot
of air and ground transportation to get the product to the customers. The manufacturing process that
they use is called a pull system. To utilize the effectiveness of the system Under Armour uses the
assembly line process to maximize efficiency. The step bye step assembly line consists of people
such as sewers, heat sealers, cutters, markers, and spreaders. Under

The Impact Of Social Media On Marketing
Throughout the centuries the advances of technology have drastically changed the marketing field.
The 21st century was revolutionary for the development of social media. With the expansion of
social media, the marketing world needed to successfully reach a new audience. Before the
advances in technology, marketers had no interaction with their customers. The marketers would
simply throw advertisements in the face of the consumers. This strategy would result in short term
results and give businesses no true way to measure their work. Social media gave marketers an
inexpensive way to advertise that interacted with customers and measured the effectiveness of an
advertisement. This however meant marketingno longer consisted of a one sided relationship with
customers. Marketers had to sail into the uncharted waters of consumer needs. By interacting,
understanding, and communicating with customers, marketers began to see the impact of social
media had on marketing.
Marketing is the driving force behind the consumer economy. Marketing is based on four key
points: product, price, promotion, and placement. These are the key elements that any marketing
strategy can be broken down into. Production focuses on giving customers what they need.
In marketing, this is accomplished through research, including using surveys, focus groups, and
demographic analysis. The goal is to answer questions such as: Who makes up our audience? What
challenges are they facing? What solutions are they

Chiquita Banana Case Summary
1. Chiquita Banana Video I think Chiquita should ve refused to pay because paying the amount
for security is not the solution to the problem. It can lead to many other problems. However, I
just think that their options would still become a problem either way. When they were accepting
to pay it has its own implications because it is not guaranteed that they will not harm the people
again. Once they will be supported they will do it continuously. It might lead damage to people s
life and property as well. When they accepted the blackmailing of that group, they will probably
do the same with other developed companies and it will become a threat to the overall economy
so they shouldn t have supported it. If they were to exit the country, employees life will be highly
affected if they were to be unemployed. This factor cannot be ignored. How... Show more content

In connection with this Ponzi scheme, Bernard took those billions of dollars from investors

The Influence Of Enlightenment On American Life
The Enlightenment was a European based intellectual movement centered in France. However, the
Enlightenment did reach America and was influential to American life. The Enlightenment stressed
reason and rationality in understanding and remaking the world. Enlightenment thinkers believed
that the universe could be ordered, foretold, and condensed into laws. The Enlightenment also
stressed that change and improvement was possible for individuals and society alike.
Enlightenment thinkers considered themselves to be philosophers and lovers of wisdom. People
who believed in Enlightenment ideas would have not strongly believed in God or that God had any
intervention in the world. This led to Enlightenment philosophers, such as Isaac Newton, to see

The Critique Of The Milgram Experiment
A particular experiment that I found intriguing so far in this class was The Milgram Experiment,
which was conducted by psychologist Stanley Milgram in 1963. The whole experiment was based
around obedience, particularly the conflict between obedience as related to authority and a person
s inner conscience (McLeod). Milgram got the idea for the study after the Nuremburg War
Criminals trial since many of the ones that were being tried claimed to just be following orders
from a higher authority (McLeod). This famous experiment took place soon after the trial of Adolf
Eichmannwhich left Milgram with the question, Could it be that Eichmann and his million
accomplices in the Holocaust were just following order? Could we call them Accomplices?
People that took part in this experiment were males where one was the learner and the other
was the teacher. However, what the participants did not know was that the learner was actually a
confederate, or a person that is directly involved in the experiment, that way the other person was
always the teacher. The two were in separate rooms, with the teacher s room containing a
researcher and an electric shock generator and the switches which ranged from 15 volts to 450
volts which was deadly. As the experiment began the learner was strapped to a chair where they
then hooked electrodes to him. He was then given a list of paired words and was told to memorize
them, the teacher then tested him by naming one of the words in the pair

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ted Russell s Son Lost The Fight...
On December 29, 2006, Connie Russell s son lost the fight for his life. Matt was a bright, twenty
one year old senior at Florida State University. His love of scuba diving inspired Matt to want to
become a marine biologist in Australia. However, these dreams would never come true. As
Russell painfully recounts, Matt had been traveling with friends to scuba in West Palm Beach.
However, on I 95, a drunk driver suddenly came out of nowhere and struck Matt s car and
significantly injured him. Seven days later, Matt was gone. Although Russell lost her son more
than ten years ago, her pain is still noticeably fresh. In fact, she still believes Matt died at the
hands of someone else s moronic decision. It was a choice, not an accident that her son was
killed. Although some may claim drunk drivers do not mean to take lives, Russell believes
otherwise. In fact, Russell was able to convince the audience through the use of rhetorical
appeals that her son s death was a choice, and not an accident. Since her son s passing, Russell
has decided it is up to her to stop this growing epidemic. While many may believe her
presentation would resonate with other parents, Russell has explained otherwise. In fact, Russell
says her hardest audience is a room full of parents. Age has a major impact solidifying a person s
response to an opinion. The older a person becomes the more detached they become to change.
Typically, parents either believes they know not to drink and drive or they have

Blessing Vs Bottled Water
Frequently people have always questioned if bottled water or tap water is better for themselves
and their community. Bottled water has no end of conveniences and is needed, or even wanted,
by numerous people in the United States and all over the world. Bottled water is not just a want
for some, it is a necessity. It has been used in many times of disasters, such as hurricanes, when
tap or the communities water is not available to them. Bottled water is convenient as well as a
great resource to have in a time of disaster. A reason that bottled water has been valued over tap
water would be that it is more portable. It is more convenient to just pick up a bottle of water
than having to fill something up and take it with on the journey. If someone is in a time crunch,
one must need to ask himself/ herself as to what would be more convenient and time saving for
said person and their busy lifestyle. Fager states in his essay called The Top Ten Reasons (Plus
Three) Why Bottled Water Is a Blessing, Bottled water is fully portable, and thus versatile (3). In
this excerpt, Fager proves the point of the idea that bottled water is superior due to its amount of
convenience. Therefore, this shows that if someone is in a hurry, or need some extra time in their
day, pick up bottled water and do not waste the time in the day on tap when there is a more
convenient solution. Bottled water is crucial and necessary during multiple disasters. During
disasters, numberless breakages can

American Farms Great Again Is The Motto For Burlington...
Research Paper
Make American farms great again is the motto for Burlington Robotics. Autonomous means:
controlled by a computer without a need for human intervention. United States farmers compete
globally for market share and Burlington Robotics wants to provide the machines needed to reach
the greatest potential. The next revolution in farming will be autonomous farming. Bet the Farm,
Best Robotics game for 2016 is a great example of the changes that are occurring in agriculture.
Farmers concerns with the autonomous tractor revolution include: safety, command and control,
laborers, efficiency and cost.
Safety
Autonomous farming could reduce farm accidents. According to the United States Department of
Labor approximately 300 fatalities occur each year due to vehicular incidents on the farm.
Autonomous farm machinery could decrease these numbers. Make an automated farm a safer place
with Vantage (copyright) obstacle detection and avoidance. Equip robotic farm vehicles with the
ability to see and safely react to unexpected hazards.
The first step in environmental awareness, this specialized LiDAR sensor produces a 3D area
readout that identifies potential obstacles and integrates seamlessly with Vantage.
The on board and remote emergency stops (e stops) serve as a safety override, immediately halting
all vehicle operations, as well as a toggle between manual/automatic control. According to

Food Guide Pyramid And Mypyramid
In June 2011, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and The Center for Nutrition
Policy and Promotion (CNPP) launched the MyPlate icon, a simple, yet powerful, visual cue to
prompt consumers to think about their food choices across food groups and to build a healthy
plate at meal times (Levine et al., 2012). MyPlate like its predecessors, the Food Guide Pyramid
and MyPyramid follow the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA), which includes
communication tools and materials to assist with choosing healthy food options. In addition, the
MyPlate Web site encompasses the SuperTracker tool to personalize food plans, consumer
educational materials and e tools, social media engagement, and a partnership initiative to help
coordinate and disseminate consistent messages of the DGA (Levine et al., 2012). Research shows
that seventy two percent of individuals responsible for the purchasing and preparing of food for the
entire household have a strong influence over meal consumption. Therefore, by targeting those
individuals who purchase and prepare most of the food, the communication strategy for MyPlate
can be best employed for all users. However, since the launch of MyPlate the African American
community has failed to utilize the MyPlate website. Most importantly, African Americans are
disproportionately affected by obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease, and it is
likely that a host of factors interact in complex, and yet unexplained, ways to

Analysis Of Philippa Gregory s Three Sisters Three...
Three Sisters, Three Queens, a historical fiction novel written by Philippa Gregory, takes place in
16th century Europe, an era characterized by powerful monarchs whose personal and political life
are incredibly complex and intertwined. In particular, this story focuses on three women who will
become the queens of Scotland, France, and England, respectively: Margaret, her sister, Mary, and
their sister in law, Katherine of Aragon. The story is told from Margaret s point of view, who
provides a unique yet often disregarded female perspective of this era intended to demonstrate that
these ruling women are just as important to history as their male counterparts, namely Henry VIII
and James IV. The novel is centered around two types of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would spoil everything if Mary s is French cut or more richly embroidered, or more fashionable
(293 294). Her superficial nature and blatant sense of entitlement resulting from her privileged
upbringing becomes almost comical, especially as she is so heavily concerned with her
possessions even while her country is engulfed in both civil war and war with England.
Nevertheless, Margaret still does mature with age, as she and her sisters come to realize that
they should be working together rather than separately: We spent our time admiring and
envying each other and we should have been guiding and protecting each other (544). Ironically,
on that very same page Margaret expresses delight over her sisters misfortunes: I am in a better
place than both my sisters. I cling to this little joy, as stubborn as when we were girls jockeying
for supremacy (544). Margaret s fickle nature embodies her time period, where many of the
monarchs share similar competitive desires and betrayal is commonplace. On an even grander
scale, Gregory highlights a natural human flaw and defies the idea of a perfect protagonist. Even
though Margaret changes for the better, a little part of her young and selfish self will always
remain within her. Margaret is not always a likable character, but she is certainly a relatable one,
whose experiences to achieve power and happiness teach her that she should have confidence in
herself and her sisters to defy gender norms

Parent Involvement Definition
II. Relevant Literature: Parent Involvement and Understandings of Bilingual Education
Parent Involvement is something that is very important and crucial when it comes to the education
of students. Especially to those students who are part of the bilingual programs, parent teacher
communication is key to success for the students. There tends to be a lack of communication
between the school and parents in which is very alarming for the reason that students are not fully
getting the education experience that they should be getting. Parents have the power and potential
to influence bilingual policies and practice at the school, district, and state wide (Lee, 1999 p. 201)

Sometimes parents avoid the communication on purpose. And when they do communicate with the
teacher, the used the very little of what they know to understand and comprehend what is going on.
Gregory A.Cheatham and Sylvia Nyegenye wrote an article on how sometimes parents get the
wrong impression of teachers because of adjectives that teachers use. When there is a language
barrier in between and you use a certain words, it can be sometimes be assumed that teachers could
be stereotyping students or viewing them negatively. For that reason, we need to have a neutral

  • 3. Essay On Marvel Vs Dc Marvel versus DC is a debate that has been reignited with the launch of multiple movies featuring heroes from each universe. Each universe has its own heroes and villains. The subject of this paper is to determine which would be the safer universe. While DC and Marvel both have many characters, only some of the characters in each universe have god like abilities. Certain characters from the Marvel and DC universe have the ability to end all life in the solar system, galaxy and possibly the universe. Both Marvel and DC have their collection of heroes and villains. The only heroes and villains that will be compared are ones with near god like abilities. Superman is one of these god like heroes from the DC universe. He has the ability to fly, super strength, near invincibility, super speed, and laser vision. Although he was killed in the events of Batman V Superman, he was revived in the events of Justice League. Superman could destroy tanks, planes and other enemies with relative ease. His comparative hero from the Marvel universe is Thor. Although Thor cannot fly without his hammer, he has the ability to call down lightning, super strength and immortality. Thor did lose his eye in the events of Thor: Ragnarok, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Marvel has a plentiful amount of world or possibly universe ending events, DC does not. • 4. Stage Dance Research Paper Stage Fright Alright, now we will be moving on to our Teen Elite division! Next up, we have entry number one hundred and thirty six, Billie Jean! Run through your choreography one last time. Make mom proud. Even more importantly, make Miss Maria proud. You can t mess up, there are so many people watching. These are all things racing through my mind as I make my way to being only inches away from one of the most terrifying moments of my life: Performing my first ever solo on a stage in front of three judges and hundreds of people. Don t forget to hold eight counts first. I cannot believe I m actually about to do this. Don t stress yourself out. You ll do fine. The music starts. I hold my first eight counts. Moonwalk backwards for four. Slap heel step heel step heel toe hop, and repeat. Move on to the next set of choreography. I start out strong, my chest lifted and my smile bright and beaming like the sun. I continue to perform the choreography, only making a few minor mistakes along the way. Coming up is the most difficult task of all: getting up onto my light up platform while tapping. I approach the box from behind, step up onto it, and BAM!, It lights up right on cue. The crowd does not expect this, and neither do the judges. The audience goes nuts, and the judges throw up their hands as if they were on a roller ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I learned many things about competing, and because I did those solo performances, I m a better dancer in small group and large group ensemble performances. Receiving critiques on tape from the judges helped me to feel more comfortable on stage during my following competitions, when I wasn t very comfortable at all at this one. The judges give lots of encouragement in the critiques, and getting hardly any actual critiques is very reassuring. Competitions are now less intimidating, and It s a lot easier for me to just go out and dance and not having to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Serial Killers Dennis Nilson stated a mind can be evil without being abnormal . If this is the case, then what makes a serial killer tick? The definition of a serial killer is; a series of two or more murders committed as separate events usually, but not always, by one offender standing alone. (Brookes, 1988) Over the years, many murderers have been given this term. From the early days of Jack the Ripper, to the most recently publicized case of the sniper , all have different motives and reasons to the crimes that they commit. Most of the serial killers suffer from mental illness/addictions or have had traumatic life experiences. This is not always the case though; some can also be racially motivated. The typical serial killeris a lower to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Malvo was sentenced to many life sentences without parole, and Muhammad was sentenced to the death penalty. Both killers still have pending trials within other states. Forensic Science Forensic and DNA casework has been a major player in catching these cold blooded killers. Since most investigators have to work from clues, they rely on these sources to lead them in the right direction. Many findings such as, blood, weapons, hair, or any source of DNA can help put the puzzle pieces of these cases together. This has solved many cases, and is a strong piece of evidence in the judicial system. Muhammad Malvoy, The Snipers In the sniper case, an anonymous caller (believed to be Muhammad) told a priest to inform police to investigate a robbery in Alabama. When the police looked into the robbery, part of the evidence Alabama s police force had found were a set of fingerprints from a magazine. Further investigation proved these prints belongs to Malvo, who was already on file. Since Malvo lived with Muhammad for a year in Washington, they were both linked together. After police knew about Muhammad, they discovered he purchased an old police car in New Jersey. After announcing to the public the type of vehicle to search for, it led to the capture of the two killers. • 7. The Influence Of The Ancient Greek Olympic Games The ancient Greek people came up with many ideas and made many advancements that changed today s world. One such creation was the Olympics. Athletes all over the world dedicate their lives to a sport, using a combination of talent and hard work in the hope they they will one day represent their country in the Olympic Games. These Games first came into existence in ancient Greece during the year 776 BC. According to an article published by the Penn Museum, The ancient Olympic Gameswere primarily a part of a religious festival in honor of Zeus, the father of the Greek gods and goddesses. Though the Games died out around 400 AD, the idea remained. Then, in 1896, the first modern day Olympics took place in their place of origin Olympia, Greece with 34 participating countries. From there, they continued to grow in size until they became the massive global event that they are today (The ancient Olympic games, 2017). Even though few people know much about Zeus, and even fewer people care, it is thanks to him and the rest of the Greek gods and goddesses that the world can come together every four years and honor the the best of the best. • 8. Why Organic Farming Is Capable Of Sustaining The Global... Introduction Components 1.Discuss the problem statement, (what is the issue we are addressing?) The problem statement to these three articles is to see if organic farming is capable of sustaining the global population by weighing the pros and cons of organic vs conventional farming. 2.Who are the authors and what are their qualifications? First author, DiGregori has neither expertise or credential; he is a phD in Economics and does not have any experience dealing with agronomy nor did he cite anyone. Second author, Vasilikiotis, is well qualified for writing about this article subject. Vasilikiotis has a phD in agricultural and biological sciences, meaning that he has done research in this field and is knowledgeable. He also has cited many other researches done by scientists and elaborated on the results. The third author, Stockdale, has a phD in physics so he doesn t have any expertise in the field. However, he has a couple of citations from other scientists and researchers that seems credible. 3.Clearly define pseudoscience. Explain why we need to be cautious of pseudoscience with this issue. Pseudoscience is science that cannot be tested or proven. It usually derives from faulty non empirical logic and is hard to spot due to fake citations and similarity to real science. We should be caution of pseudoscience because it is ubiquitous in the scientific world and can be detrimental when used to support a scientific claim. 4.Discuss appropriate standards to ... Carbon Nanotubes On The Delivery Of Pharmaceuticals NANOTECHNOLOGY Carbon nanotubes in the delivery of pharmaceuticals in medicine Andrew Kim Word count 995 without references and titles 100%originality The most clinically effective treatments for cancer were ironically incredibly detrimental to the human body s health. These included, chemotherapy and radiation. These two methods did in fact destroy the malignant cells yet also caused apoptosis in healthy cells damaging them beyond repair and thus causing a great detriment to the patients health. However, recently, due to the endeavours of nanotechnology, it has been discovered that carbon nanotubes can effectively carry anti cancer drugs destroying the malignant cancer cells without damaging the healthy cells, in other words, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nanotechnology is the design, characterisation, production and application of structure, devices or systems by controlled manipulation of size and shape at the nanoscale. (Nanomed, 2005) This should produce a structure or device with at least one new or superior characteristic. The nanoscale is less than 100nm. CNTs have shown a great deal of potential use as nano carriers for delivering anti cancer drugs directly to the sight of action. However, CNTs must be functionalized, as pure CNTs are difficult to incorporate into biological structures due to their insolubility and their tendency to bundle up. There are two main ways to functionalize CNTs yet the best method is by oxidation leading to carboxyl based couplings. The tube caps openings are created and holes in the side wall form by process of oxidation involving strong acids. These carboxylic group allow covalent coupling with other molecules by amide or ester bonds (see figure 2.1) as a result, CNTs can be conjugated with anti cancer drugs. It is a benefit to functionalize CNTs as functionalized CNTs have been shown in many studies to be able to cross cell membranes (Pantarotte et al.) this means that CNTs can now be used to deliver anti cancer drugs into direct cells. Now that CNTs can be used in biological structures, there are three methods of incorporating the drugs to the CNT. These are by attachment of the drug to the outer surface; covalent or non covalent bonding. Or, loading the CNTs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Sons Of Liberty Apush Dbq 1. How do the Sons of Liberty explain Britain s motivations for passing the Tea Act The British Empire was left heavily in debt by the Seven Years War and for the first time, Parliament began looking at the colonies as a source to raise money from direct taxes (Foner, Voices 86). During the late 1700 s, the colonists were constantly at odds with the British government, who were attempting to gain greater oversight and control. The Sons of Liberty, a group made up of different merchants and classes of workers, were opposed to the many regulations and taxes levied on them by Parliament. One of their main concerns was being taxed unfairly without representation and they viewed this as a threat to their liberty. The Sons took the lead in organizing resistance groups and enforcing boycott efforts to reject Parliament s overreach (Foner, Voices 91). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Act was not intended to benefit the colonies in any way and it was met with great resistance. The Tea Act served two purposes: to bail out the East India Company financially by giving it a monopoly on tea sales and to assert Parliament s authority over the colonists since they were not allowed to buy tea from any other merchant. The East India Company was a private company, but played an important role in the British economy. The obvious favoritism angered many of the colonial tea merchants because they were unfairly cut out of the process and driven out of business. Parliament gave the East India Company a series of rebates and tax exemptions, which allowed them to deliver a large amount of low priced tea to the colonies (Foner, Give 192). 2. They are said to appear when the first four seals of the apocalypse are opened. There are seven seals in all, but the first four contain the horsemen. The only thing that opens the seals is the lamb, better known as Jesus Christ. There are many theories of when they have appeared in the past and where they will appear in the future. There are different interpretations of what and who they represent. No one really knows why they come or when. • 15. Using ethos pathos and logos in modern film English 102 For this assignment, I ve chosen to analyze the movie, Gone Girl and television show, The Office. Gone Girl, a movie still in theaters, stars Neil Patrick Harris and Ben Affleck and is based off a 2012 book. The book, written by Gillian Flynn, has since been a New York Times Best Seller. The Office was a television show spanning from 2005 2013 and earned multiple awards. Both the book and movie are extremely graphic in nature, so the target audience is geared more towards college students and beyond. I know this simply by the plot and R rating. The story depicts Nick and Amy Dunne and their difficult marriage. Nick, played by Affleck, comes home from work one morning to see his living room glass table shattered, blood... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amy then seduces her former over, slits his throat, and heads back home with Nick. Amy claims she was raped every day by Desi and killing was the only way out. But knowing the real truth, Nick wants to leave Amy but is unable to after discovering that Amy is indeed pregnant. Without telling her husband, she went to sperm bank having used sperm Nick stored. He reacts violently, but decides to stay with Amy for the sake of the child. The Office has a wide range audience, because unlike Good Girl, it s not a show graphic in nature. It s a funny show, about the struggles of working at a failing paper company. Perhaps this show is suited for those in high school and older. I miss watching this show with my parents, because they enjoyed it as much as I did. Like Good Girl, this show utilizes ethos, pathos and logos. A good example of logos would be the relationship between two co workers, Dwight Schrute and Jim Halpert. Dwight, a salesman, wears glasses, parts his hair and wears a mustard colored short sleeve dress shirt and tie to work every day. When he s not working, he enjoys growing beats on his 42 acre beat farm with his cousin and watching Battlestar Galactica. To put it lightly, Dwight is a complete nerd. But Jim, on the other hand, is the king of the office. Jim flirts with his female coworkers, enjoys playing sports, complains about his job and dates the best looking women. ... • 16. The Era Of America After The Antebellum Period It is believed that the beginning of a task is often the most important as well as the most difficult, because it consists of discovering the basis to success with a greater chance of failure. The establishment of America after gaining independence from Great Britain relied heavily on the foundations set during the antebellum period, which is often classified as the period of time before the civil war. During such vital time in American history came a number of fundamental Supreme Court cases. The outcome of various cases significantly shaped the future of America into the country we know today. Perhaps some of the most important cases include Marbury v. Madison, Gibbons v. Ogden, and Dred Scott v. Sandford. McCulloch v. Maryland is possibly the most prominent Supreme Court case throughout the antebellum period that occurred in 1819, even though different interpretations of the Necessary and Proper Clause have led to many controversies regarding its meaning and the potential supreme authority of congress, this landmark case established that the federal government has certain implied powers under the constitution. Primarily, individuals who supported the National Bank argued that the bank was essential in regulating the money distributed by state banks. However, many states wanted nothing concerning the National Bank in their precincts in fear of state banks being rundown. In his Quintet for Clarinet, 2 Violins, Viola, and Cello Op. 115, Brahms creates an important and influential work in the chamber music repertoire. By writing his Quintet for the specific clarinetist Richard MГјhlfeld s artistic brilliance, and by taking musical liberties with conventional forms and expectations, Brahms crafts the intimacy and seriousness one has come to expect from chamber music. Towards the end of his life, Brahms had intended on retiring from composing. Around 1891, the Meiningen orchestra, with whom Richard MГјhlfeld held his career with, frequently featured Brahms s music at well known festivals in the area. The Joachim Quartet concerts were known for being a major series performing strictly string chamber music. Brahms had convinced Joachim with his manuscripts that the work was worthy of the sacrifice of adding clarinet and piano to the series. The highly regarded reputation of the Joachim concerts certainly allowed for the seriousness of the Quintet to be featured, for all of the cleaver composition techniques Brahms employed were certainly appreciated by the intellectual audiences the Quartet frequently attracted. The Quintet follows the general guidelines for form that audiences of the time have come to expect from serious string chamber music pieces. The first movement acts as a Sonata form with some unexpected variation, the second as a three part song form. The third and fourth movements begin to some unconventional practices. In the third, instead of a scherzo movement in 3/4 time, we get a sonata allegro in 4/4 and 2/4 time. In the fourth, the audience gets a theme and variations, but the tempo is considerably slower than what one would normally expect from a concluding movement. In 1891, the only memorable clarinet quintet was composed by Mozart. If one were to come into a performance of the Brahms Quintet with Mozart s Quintet in mind, they would expect the clarinet to take the most important role, with the strings accompanying more often than not. • 20. The Play By F. Priestley The play is set in 1912 just two years before the war. This was a very hard and difficult time for England a period when they were many strikes, food shortages and political tension. In contrast to this the play was written in 1945, which was after world war two when the country was in great disorder. Priestly deliberately set his play in 1912 because the date represented an era when all was very different from the time he was writing, rigid class and gender boundaries seemed to ensure that nothing would change. Yet by 1945 most of the class genders have been breached. Priestly wanted to make most of these changes through his play he encouraged people to seize the opportunity the end of the war had given them, to build a better and more caring society. At the beginning of the play, Priestly introduces us to the character, Arthur Birling as being a powerful man in the family. This can be seen when the family is sitting on the table, Arthur Birling at one end and his wife at the other . Priestly deliberately stated this because it shows that Arthur Birling has a higher status than his wife, as she is not equal to him, she s separated. It shows the division between the couple and an era where women had a lower status and less rights then men. As well as being powerful Priestly has also presented Arthur Birling as a self obsessed, work oriented hard headed, practical man of business . Firstly, in Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire , the writer presents disconcerting behaviour throughout the text. Stanley is presented having a masculine, animalistic nature, which includes his open violent behaviour. One final social effect of the mercantilist system of Great Britain was the nonimportation agreements the colonists had. The colonists agreed to not import things from Britain and instead make the things themselves. Many factors influence and control social disorganization; this paper will explain exactly what social disorganization is, as well as its relationship or connection to organized crime and criminal behavior. Today s corrupt political groups can have a direct and immediate effect on social disorganization, as well as organized criminal activity ( Social Disorganization and Rural Communities , 2003). What is Social Disorganization? According to Bursik, (1988), the definition of social disorganization is an inability of community members to achieve shared values or to solve jointly experienced problems . Both theoretical and empirical research has focused on urban settings when studying influencers on crime and delinquencies. Current versions of social disorganization theory assume that strong social relationships will prevent crime and delinquency ( Social Disorganization and Rural Communities , 2003). Crime can become more prevalent spawned from neighborhoods with close living conditions such as apartment complexes or duplexes. Crime rates can also be higher in areas that have a breakdown in the family unit. An example of family unit breakdown could be a single parent family and divorce. He starts off by discussing and analyzing toolkit variation in both hunter gatherer and farming societies and then moves on to discuss overall technological variation in these societies and the possible explanation for it. Personal Culture And My Family Culture Essay While looking upon my personal culture and my family s culture in an attempt to find appropriate dishes for this assignment, it became apparent to me that I have no definite culture. Whereas I have lived in Canada my whole life, my family s background has engaged me in varying cultures, though I have never felt truly attuned to one culture. On the other hand, my father is a first generation Canadian, his parents both from Scotland. Though aware of my Scottish origins and my grandparents migration to Canada, Scottish culture has never been explicitly celebrated amongst those in my family. Furthermore, my family previously migrated from Ireland during the Irish famine, resulting in Irish culture to also represented in my family s culture. Variously, my mother s side of the family has lived in Canada for many generations, but I do not consider myself as being authentically Canadian. Accordingly, throughout my childhood, I was never encouraged to celebrate an explicit culture. Furthermore, religion was never prominent in my life either, as my parents decided against baptizing any of my siblings and me, as per the family tradition, because they wished for us to have religious freedom. However, because of the rest of my family s religion, as well as my background, my family has always celebrated Christian holidays, though I have never been to church for a reason other than a wedding. • 41. The Impact Of Social Media On Marketing Throughout the centuries the advances of technology have drastically changed the marketing field. The 21st century was revolutionary for the development of social media. With the expansion of social media, the marketing world needed to successfully reach a new audience. Before the advances in technology, marketers had no interaction with their customers. The marketers would simply throw advertisements in the face of the consumers. This strategy would result in short term results and give businesses no true way to measure their work. Social media gave marketers an inexpensive way to advertise that interacted with customers and measured the effectiveness of an advertisement. This however meant marketingno longer consisted of a one sided relationship with customers. Marketers had to sail into the uncharted waters of consumer needs. By interacting, understanding, and communicating with customers, marketers began to see the impact of social media had on marketing. Marketing is the driving force behind the consumer economy. • 44. The Critique Of The Milgram Experiment A particular experiment that I found intriguing so far in this class was The Milgram Experiment, which was conducted by psychologist Stanley Milgram in 1963. The whole experiment was based around obedience, particularly the conflict between obedience as related to authority and a person s inner conscience (McLeod). Milgram got the idea for the study after the Nuremburg War Criminals trial since many of the ones that were being tried claimed to just be following orders from a higher authority (McLeod). This famous experiment took place soon after the trial of Adolf Eichmannwhich left Milgram with the question, Could it be that Eichmann and his million accomplices in the Holocaust were just following order? Could we call them Accomplices? People that took part in this experiment were males where one was the learner and the other was the teacher. However, what the participants did not know was that the learner was actually a confederate, or a person that is directly involved in the experiment, that way the other person was always the teacher. The two were in separate rooms, with the teacher s room containing a researcher and an electric shock generator and the switches which ranged from 15 volts to 450 volts which was deadly. Matt was a bright, twenty one year old senior at Florida State University. His love of scuba diving inspired Matt to want to become a marine biologist in Australia. However, these dreams would never come true. As Russell painfully recounts, Matt had been traveling with friends to scuba in West Palm Beach. However, on I 95, a drunk driver suddenly came out of nowhere and struck Matt s car and significantly injured him. Seven days later, Matt was gone. Although Russell lost her son more than ten years ago, her pain is still noticeably fresh. In fact, she still believes Matt died at the hands of someone else s moronic decision. It was a choice, not an accident that her son was killed. Although some may claim drunk drivers do not mean to take lives, Russell believes otherwise. In fact, Russell was able to convince the audience through the use of rhetorical appeals that her son s death was a choice, and not an accident. Since her son s passing, Russell has decided it is up to her to stop this growing epidemic. While many may believe her presentation would resonate with other parents, Russell has explained otherwise. • 46. Blessing Vs Bottled Water Frequently people have always questioned if bottled water or tap water is better for themselves and their community. Bottled water has no end of conveniences and is needed, or even wanted, by numerous people in the United States and all over the world. Bottled water is not just a want for some, it is a necessity. It has been used in many times of disasters, such as hurricanes, when tap or the communities water is not available to them. Bottled water is convenient as well as a great resource to have in a time of disaster. A reason that bottled water has been valued over tap water would be that it is more portable. It is more convenient to just pick up a bottle of water than having to fill something up and take it with on the journey. If someone is in a time crunch, one must need to ask himself/ herself as to what would be more convenient and time saving for said person and their busy lifestyle. Fager states in his essay called The Top Ten Reasons (Plus Three) Why Bottled Water Is a Blessing, Bottled water is fully portable, and thus versatile (3). In this excerpt, Fager proves the point of the idea that bottled water is superior due to its amount of convenience. Therefore, this shows that if someone is in a hurry, or need some extra time in their day, pick up bottled water and do not waste the time in the day on tap when there is a more convenient solution. Bottled water is crucial and necessary during multiple disasters. During disasters, numberless breakages can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

MyPlate like its predecessors, the Food Guide Pyramid and MyPyramid follow the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA), which includes communication tools and materials to assist with choosing healthy food options. In addition, the MyPlate Web site encompasses the SuperTracker tool to personalize food plans, consumer educational materials and e tools, social media engagement, and a partnership initiative to help coordinate and disseminate consistent messages of the DGA (Levine et al., 2012). Her superficial nature and blatant sense of entitlement resulting from her privileged upbringing becomes almost comical, especially as she is so heavily concerned with her possessions even while her country is engulfed in both civil war and war with England. Nevertheless, Margaret still does mature with age, as she and her sisters come to realize that they should be working together rather than separately: We spent our time admiring and envying each other and we should have been guiding and protecting each other (544). Ironically, on that very same page Margaret expresses delight over her sisters misfortunes: I am in a better place than both my sisters. I cling to this little joy, as stubborn as when we were girls jockeying for supremacy (544). Margaret s fickle nature embodies her time period, where many of the monarchs share similar competitive desires and betrayal is commonplace. On an even grander scale, Gregory highlights a natural human flaw and defies the idea of a perfect protagonist. Even though Margaret changes for the better, a little part of her young and selfish self will always remain within her.
