Heather Whitestone Hearing Loss
The biggest handicap in the world is negative thinking and that people handicap themselves by
concentrating only on the negative instead of the positive, said Heather Whitestone (Premiere
Speakers Bureau). Even though Heather Whitestone was deaf, she showed the world that she was
willing to work hard to achieve success. Hearing loss affects many people throughout the country.
About two million people in the United States are completely deaf, while eighteen to twenty one
million people need hearing aids (Mango 21). Symptoms of hearing loss may include difficulty
understanding words or phrases. Needing to turn the volume up, avoiding social situations, and trouble
hearing consonants are also signs of hearing loss (Mayo Clinic Staff). There ... Show more content on

She attended many pageants and became the second runner up in the Shelby County Junior Miss
pageant (Bates 62). Then, she became Miss Jacksonville State University in 1992, and aimed for the
Miss Alabama pageant (75). Whitestone became the first runner up for Miss Alabama twice and
almost quit, but she decided to give it one more shot (78). The next time, she won Miss Alabama in
1995 (85). Whitestone was influenced by many people. She was influenced by her mother because she
did all that she could to help Heather communicate and have a better life. She was also molded by her
father, teachers, and speech therapists. Afterwards, Whitestone became a motivational speaker and
spokesperson for the Starkey Hearing Aid Foundation, the Cochlear Implant Company, and the Helen
Keller Foundation (Belsky). As Miss America, Whitestone built the S.T.A.R.S. program. It showed
people to have a positive attitude, to believe in your dreams, work hard, and face your obstacles.

Speech As A Speech To Isaac Newton s Speech
Greeting Earthling, this is your captain speaking, Haleigh DePalmer. I wish I had moon boots to

It is assumed Isaac Newton witnessed an apple fall from a tree thus beginning a thought process only
someone with an estimated IQ level of 190 would take the time to think about. He began thinking that
the force which caused the apple to be attracted to the Earth couldn t be any different from the force
which causes the moon to be attracted to the earth; remaining in orbit. Both objects are being pulled
towards the earth, however the moon, unlike the apple isn t crashing into our home planet. The moon
is moving sideways so quickly that it s missing our planet completely which is what is keeping it in
orbit. Next time I get pulled over, I m going to have to tell the police officer, that if the moon speeds to
avoiding crashing into something on earth, so am I. Newton realized that however this gravitational
force worked, any other object with mass would probably behave the exact same way, whether it be
another planet, the sun, or you falling into bed after a long day. Newton s Law of Gravitation directly
states any two bodies attract each other with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their
masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. Wow, that s a mouthful.
Leave it to the professionals. All we need to know is what goes up must come down, and yes that
includes that missing balloon from your fifth birthday. Newton s scientific revolution changed the way
people thought about the world. In his book, he

Consumer Law Essay
Discuss the extent to which Consumer law achieves its objectives.
The most efficient way for consumers to get what they want is through the market , not the
government, but businesses have more power than their customers. Some businesses can and will use
abuse this power and cheat and steal from consumers to make money. Because of this, the government
regulates the behaviour of businesses to have a market economy that functions properly. These laws
mainly protect consumers against; misleading/deceptive representations, unconscionable conduct,
unfair contracts, and unsafe goods and/or services. To protect consumers, different legal and non legal
approaches have been taken.
Statutory protections by the government, like the Australian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Coles claims and advertises that its bread is baked today, sold today and freshly baked in store . It was
found that the bread was not, in fact, baked in Australia, but partially baked months earlier in overseas
factories. Coles accepted a guilty verdict and claimed that new packaging was already being produced.
Coles could face fines of up to $1.1 million per breach. This demonstrates how effective the ACCC is
in enforcing the ACL but penalties may not be harsher enough. For a large business, like Coles, $1.1
million is not that much of a penalty compared to the profits it makes.
Non statutory protections to help the ACL in achieving its objectives can be just as effective as
statutory protections. One protection is the media. The media is a very powerful tool and can wreak
havoc on the profitability of a business. To stay out of the harsh spotlight that is the media, businesses
tend to straighten out really quickly if found to be in breach of a section of the ACL. This helps to
protect consumers to the degree that it makes businesses comply with the law quickly but it doesn t
stop them from doing it to stat with until they get caught.
Another non statutory measure in protecting consumers is through External Dispute Resolution
Schemes (EDR). An example of an EDR is the Financial Ombudsmen Service (FOS) which helps to
protect consumers in matters regarding credit loans. The FOS is a cheaper, faster way of reaching a
solution to

Let The Punishment Fit The Crime
I grew up in a very strict, religious household and though I was never baptized in the religion
I was a practicing Jehovah s Witness till about the age of 25. I do still occasionally go to their
meetings but more importantly I still believe the fundamentals of what they teach and Hell is not one
of those fundamentals. Jehovah s Witness s believe that when you die that your body and soul returns
to the earth. In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it
you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return (New World Translation, Gen. 3.19).
Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor
knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, where you are going (New World Translation, Ec. 9.10). The
Witness s teach death is the punishment for sin, not hell. So I found this topic of Hell, it s sinners and
their punishments for our Critical Response paper what peaked my interest the most. Dante s Inferno
The Divine Comedy although it is divine by literary standards there is nothing comedic about it.
Dante s journey through hell is an eye opening and terrifying one for him as he searches to find
Jehovah s grace and love again and release his self of sin. Through his journey he encounters the

Transjustic And Cultural Reflection Of A Personal Experience
There are a few memorable experiences that assisted me in learning to work with diverse clients and
caregivers with linguistic and cultural differences from my own. The first one being a client age 82
with a diagnosis of moderate severe global aphasia and severe verbal and oral apraxia. After a
transient ischemic attack (TIA) evolved into a left middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCA), her speech
output largely involved stereotypical ma utterances. This client has always arrived to her speech and
language sessions with a smile and in a timely manner. More often than not, we would start by some
small talk that involved some yes or no questions for her to answer and it was amazing what she can
convey with just her varying intonations of ma s and animated facial expressions. I found it
challenging to understand what she wanted to share in the beginning since I did not phrase my
questions or comments in a way that warranted clear answers nor did I use her low tech AAC book to
supplement the conversations but after learning to shape my own words and getting acquainted to her
AAC book, her responses became clearer to me. I had the pleasure with working with an amazing
individual with Locked in Syndrome who was 42 years old. Although limited physically, she floored
me with her motivation and humor during each session. This client and my supervisor taught me the
importance of using materials that related to their culture to spark interest but also to balance those

The Impact Of Plastic Shopping Bags And Environmental Impact
Plastic Shopping Bags Environmental Impact
Disposable bags may seem convenient but have proven to be a huge source of pollution. According to
research conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency, somewhere between five hundred billion
and one trillion disposable bags are used each year around the world. Plastic bags, while only used for
an average of about twelve minutes, remain in landfills, oceans, and other places for thousands of
years.
Plastic bags are created using fossil fuels and also require vast amounts of water and energy in order to
have them manufactured and shipped. The production of plastic bags requires the use of billions of
pounds of fossil fuels as well as billions of gallons of fresh water. The manufacturing ... Show more

While plastic pollution continues to be a huge problem globally, there are some steps being taken to
reduce the use of disposable bags. Many individuals and businesses have begun switching to reusable
bags in an effort to save money and protect the environment. Some businesses even offer a small
discount for utilizing reusable bags instead of plastic. Many places are also beginning to create laws
that either ban plastic bags entirely or place a fee on them, and these laws have proven to be effective
in reducing plastic bag pollution. With more laws being enacted and the shift to reusable bags
continuing, plastic pollution can be decreased. To learn more about plastic pollution, consult the

Final Paper: The Things They Carried
Mrs. Rossi
In the novel The Things They Carried, by Tim O Brien, women are not physically present throughout
the book, but still play a significant role just as a man in Vietnam War. These women are both good
and bad for the men. Some are a source of comfort and motivation to succeed, and get home alive.
But, others cause a negative impact on the men, making them lose focus on the task at hand. Mary
Anne and Martha are two women that had a significant role in the book. Mary Anne is present in the
book and her actions affected the men. While Martha is just a memoir, she still has the same affect.

Cognitive distortions are basically negative and inaccurate thoughts that our minds convince us of
being true. Everyone gets these kinds of thoughts whether we realize it or not and for some people
they occur more often than others. A simple example of this is someone who fails at one thing and
then thinks or believes that they are failure at everything. Some of these thoughts may be much more
subtle but still have a huge effect on us and our thought process. It s an important topic to discuss
because as we learn more about the different kinds of cognitive distortions we can learn how to
prevent them or change the thoughts. By learning to refute these thoughts we can replace them ...

Impact of the Cognitive Distortion
The immediate impact this negative thought has on me is feeling like a failure and just giving in. I feel
pretty defeated and upset at myself for not being stronger and avoiding temptation . After this kind of
thought occurs and once I m done eating, I initially feel so letdown and angry at myself but the next
day I use it as a motivation to go forward and not repeat it, though I do find myself occasionally
coming back to it, almost as a cycle.
Automatic Negative Thought
Another negative thought(s) I find myself having often is not being good enough. This is something
that I usually find myself thinking a lot about after an altercation or disagreement with someone.
There have been a few instances in my life when I m put in a position where someone I care for picks
someone else over me, this being both emotional and not. I have found that this is thought I have a lot
in my personal relationships and many times I have this thought after a small incident or argument. I
think this is tendency I have a lot, to think negatively about myself, when small problems occur.
Cognitive Distortion
This would fall under over generalization. I believe that me taking a small argument or incident that
many times has nothing to do with myself, and turning on to negative thought about myself not being
good enough for other person is something I definitely

Character Analysis Of Little Snow White
In Little Snow White by Germany, Jacob, and Wilhelm Grimm, there is a Queen who becomes jealous
of her seven year old daughter. She envied her daughter s beauty and sends a huntsman to kill Snow
White. Snow White is then all alone and unable to care for herself and becomes dependent of the
Seven Dwarfs. Although she is the main character, she is also the weakest character in the story. In
Fables, we encounter a very different Snow White. Here Snow White oversees the town, Fabletown.
Unlike the original fairytale story, there are no Dwarfs looking after her. She doesn t need a Prince to
come to her rescue because she is the hero in her own right. Her fierceness makes her a strong female
who embodies power. Unlike the Little Snow White, in Fables Snow White is the head in charge, she s
independent, and bold. Snow White is the head in charge who runs a town called Fabletown. She still
needs to run things by the Mayor but overall, she is the face of Fabletown. Others come to her with
their problems in hopes of a solution. Contrary to the Snow White we know from the original
fairytales where Snow White is not in charge of anything and no one comes to her for solutions.
Instead, she has the seven dwarfs looking out for her. For example, when the queen tried to kill her
they said, It must have been the queen who tried to kill you, take care, and do not let anyone in again
(Germany, Jacob, and Wilhelm Grimm). This shows pity on the dwarf s behalf because they knew she
was unable to care for herself. However, in Fables, Snow White is now the one looking out for others.
For example, Beauty and the Beast come to Snow White for help with their marriage. Although, Snow
White was not able to give them a solution, she was now on the opposite end of the table unlike the
young and naïve Snow from the fairytale who sought others for her problems. Fables shows a great
representation of an independent woman with Snow White. After leaving the homeland and moving to
Fabletown, Snow White does not have her Prince Charming. Instead, this Snow White shows that she
can do anything she sets her mind to without any help. Something that did not occur in the fairytale
where the prince comes to her rescue and they live happily ever

Importance Of The 7th Amendment
The average American appreciates the Seventh Amendment (Amendment VII), though the text itself
reflects much of the times in which it was drafted. They understand that it codifies the right to a jury
trial in certain civil cases, and hinders courts from overturning a jury s findings of fact. The reason
most people comprehend this amendment is because, The Seventh Amendment is generally considered
one of the more straightforward amendments of the Bill of Rights. In this essay, I will share my
opinion on the importance and efficacy of the 7th Amendment. I will also expound on other elements
of this Amendment and finally, I will discuss how this amendment affects my life. An early version of
the Seventh Amendment was introduced in Congress in 1789 by James Madison, along with the other
amendments, in response to Anti Federalist objections to the new Constitution. Our founders believed
a trial by a jury was important. This idea came about based on their life experience with the King of
England. A major grievance annotated in the Declaration of Independence was that the King would
not permit trial by jury in the colonies. This was due to the colonists often rejecting English law. This
rejection is also known as jury nullification; where the jury finds the law to be improper and decides
not to punish the person in court. The significance of the 7th Amendment, under the Bill of Rights in
the United States Constitution, is that it gives an individual the right to a jury

different rules apply to those who have been practicing for a period of time. Gedes Grudzinskas stated
that: quot;If certified in obstetrics and gynecology after 1986, the physician must complete a

Manuel Puig
The Kiss of The Spider Woman by Manuel Puig is centered on gender.
The notions of gender are Masculinity, and Femininity. They are argued by Manuel Puig as he
reverses the traditional ideas of male and female using Valentin and Molina, in order argue against the
idea that women were weak and men were strong. With the use of Valentin, a protester who carries all
masculine traits used in order to symbolize the traditional societal ideology of manhood and
masculinity. Also, he creates Molina, a homosexual put in prison for corrupting minors, in order to
portray the traditional female.
However, throughout the novel Puig deconstructs these roles in order to show the true persona of both
Valentin and Molina.
For instance, when Valentin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That being said, he has a feministic view of society. Moreover he views his relationship with Valentin
rather well as he considers himself to be the submissive female that transforms into the manipulator,
that tricks Valentin into eating the prison food, so that he can intentionally take care of him. However
Puig is making the reader realize that Molina is enduring an internal struggle. The struggle is that
Molina is stuck between telling the Warden the information that he is trying to get from Valentin, yet
insisting that Valentin tell him nothing of his political life. These combinations create the angst within
the character and the ultimate suspense of the piece as a whole. Perhaps both Valentin and Molina are
seeking to escape by explaining the movies they recall. The movies that Molina tells Valentin reveals
so much about Molina as he tends to cry each time he goes into the romantic part of the documentaries
because Molina lacks love in his life as he is trapped within himself. However when he offers his
body, so that is he free from this entrapment is when he makes love with Valentin. This shows us how
similar Molina s persona is to that of a woman. The similar trends between Molina and a woman is
best reflected when he talks about the love story of Leni. Leni betrays her own country because she
lacks love from a man. Leni turns into a powerful woman when she backstabs the soldier that was
once on her side.

The Prohibition Of The Second Amendment
Gun control is one of the most debated about topic today in America; between news outlet, the public,
and politicians. As some politicians look to resolve the gun control issues, with banning them,
imposing more restriction to sellers, buyers and owner; some people and politicians consider the
second amendment to be relic and should be removed from the constitution. History has shown us
time and time again even through all the violence and chaos in the world and America, that there is a
reason for the creation of the second amendment. From history of America independence in 1776 to
the ratification of the bill of right in 1791 the 2nd amendment still remains relevant form it creation, to
modern times, and the protection of America s future; for the freedom of its inhabitants and citizens.
The once influential 20th century thinker George Santayana once said, Those who cannot remember
the past are condemned to repeat it . Looking back into ancient history, the history of second
amendment, recent and current history we can find clues that will support the relevance of the 2nd
amendment. We will also define the second amendment and try to find solutions to our current
problems from what our forefathers had say. The United States of America, only 240 years old; still
one of the youngest nations to come to power, still has a thing or two to learn from ancient history.
Rome, an empire for more than 500yrs, had similar belief some American politicians of disarming the

Negotiation and Communicative Competence
Negotiation and Communicative Competence Summary of Findings: Personal Bargaining Inventory
In summarizing and discussing the results of the Personal Bargaining Inventory I took, I have chosen
six (6) statements that I feel strongly about, each from Sections I and II. These statements will be the
points of discussion for this summary section. Section I is a self rating inventory of statements
describing an individual s negotiation style and attitude towards negotiation. In this section, I felt most
strongly about statements 8, 10, 16, 17, 18 and 22. Statements 8 and 10 reflect my personality as an
individual and potential negotiator, and I strongly felt and believed that (i) I am an impatient person,
therefore I do not like slow moving arguments, and (ii) I have a strong sense of humor, which, in a
negotiation process, could help relieve tension or stress and could help smoothen the
negotiation/bargaining process. Statements 16 and 22 talks about power and competition, respectively.
Personally, I am not the kind of person who seeks power deliberately. I like power but I do not mind
sharing it with another person. Since I know myself to be a team player and generally, a collaborating
type of person, I find comfort in sharing power and having another person to support me in assuming
the responsibilities that come with the power entrusted to me. Given my kind of personality in terms
of power, it is not surprising, then, that while I enjoy a good competition, I like

Weimar Republic Vs Germany Essay
The Weimar Republic and Germany s response which followed it are both stages of Germany s
intricate history that cannot be understood on their own. Both periods of Germany s history have a
commonality in their being brought on by the rippling effects of the Treaty of Versailles. This treaty
was imposed on the German Empire at the final stages of the first World War. In an irregular way,
considering the weight of the treaty, the Treaty of Versailles was signed among a group of national
leaders which lacked German representation; this non German group of people, in a single day,
wrongly castrated Germany. Ignited by the reactions to the assassination of the Archduke of Austria
Hungary, Franz Ferdinand, the first World War was a war much unlike the wars before it. For the first
time in world history, war ascended from a matter between two or so bickering nations to a
pancontinental struggle resulting in a degree of devastation not seen in the past. Due to the
complicated and tangled alliance system put into place by the German statesman, Otto Von Bismarck,
the combatants of the war were divided into two opposing factions: The Allied Powers and the Central
Powers. Among the Allied Powers were nations such as France, the British Empire, Italy, Russia, and
the United States of America. On the Allied Power s opposition, ... Show more content on

Analysis Of The New York Times By David Brooks Essay
Argumentative Essay on Supporting Our Students
In an article by The New York Times, by David Brooks, called, Support Our students. Brooks explains
that instead of free college, maybe they should help college students with everyday needs. He said that
college is already free for the working class and underpaid. (Brooks) He doesn t believe that making
community college free will help anymore with the debt, then it did before. In sum, I will discuss the
argument that David Brooks portrays and explain why I agree with it. I will talk about three main
points from Brooks article and discuss what it s like in other countries that do have free college.
In David Brooks article, he mentions that students actually have free college at their disposal. By
using pell grants and scholarships, he believes that we re set. I don t disagree. In my experience, my
scholarship and my pell grant both pay for my school. However, I must have one scholarship to
receive the other and as a student that comes from a poor household, my pell grant covers all of my
college expenses aside from my books. He said it s more beneficial if instead of making college free,
that they should help the students. (Brooks) Such as living expenses, book fees, and transportation.
(Brooks) He mentions how most students have jobs, full or part time. (Brooks) I am lucky enough to
have a free living space on food, but I have a part time job and most of my money goes towards

Ambiguity In Beloved

Title
They say: question everything. In Beloved by Toni Morrison, the way that the author leaves the story
ambiguous leads to complex questions about the novel s characters. She I believe this is because her
intention is to create a thought provoking experience for the reader where they create their own
analysis because she knows that it is more powerful to only open up a larger discussion. She does not
paint character s in any particular light, forcing us to figure out their motives and judge them, but
instead she focuses on condemning slavery.
Morrison unfolds the story in a fragmented and elusive way because it serves a purpose: to allow us
time to make our own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Repetition is typically used to drive a point home; to really emphasize its importance. In addition to
this function, Morrison skillfully uses this method of writing to make her readers question. You are my
Beloved. You are mine. You are mine. You are mine. While reading this it occurred to me that
Morrison writes this part open ended so that it can be analyzed two different ways. It does not identify
if this is somebody repeating You are mine. over and over or instead if it is a back and forth
conversation between Sethe and Beloved. By leaving this question unanswered we are made to decide
our own interpretation of the character Beloved s overall origin. If Sethe is the one saying You are
mine. You are mine. You are mine. it solidifies her belief that Beloved is her baby reincarnated by
showing that she feels like she possesses Beloved like a mother owns a daughter. Earlier I discussed
that if Sethe were to let parts of her that are precious and fine be taken to Sweet Home with
schoolteacher, it would be to let the life that she made be destroyed. Instead she chooses to destroy her
baby before him as an attempt to spare her child a life of slavery. Therefore she stops schoolteacher, a

Limited liability has been the prevailing rule for corporations for more than a century. It creates
incentives for excessive risk taking by allowing companies to avoid the full costs of their activities.
Strict application of this rule in all cases would lead to inflexibility and injustice, particularly in tort
cases. Therefore, as suggested by Stephen Griffin in the interests of justice and to prevent subsidiary
companies being used as convenient risk takers for their parent...the [corporate] veil must not become
immovable. [1] On the other hand, basing justice as the sole ground for veil lifting would undermine
commercial certainty. The facts of each case should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Avoidance of Excessively Risky Behaviour
The prevalence of mergers and acquisitions movement nowadays has converted many large
corporations into highly leveraged firms. In order to maximize cash flow, these firms have a strong
incentive for excessive risk taking activities, which drastically increase the exposure to tort liability.
Carcinogens in the workplace, environmental harms to the surrounding and hazardous products are all
sources of massive tortious liability. [9] Very often, business firms would reorganize their structure to
exploit limited liability to evade tort claims, such as deliberately placing hazardous activities in under
funded subsidiaries. However, business ethics is a prominent contemporary concept and issue in
commercial context. In terms of public policy and public interest, it is of paramount importance to
deter companies from taking excessively risky activities, which cause personal injury to innocent
victims.
Tort Victims and Business on Unequal Footing
Tort victims are those who may suffer physical injury or harm. On the other hand, parent companies of
its defendant subsidiaries only suffer commercial

The State Of California Governing Bodies Essay
The State of California Governing Bodies The California Postsecondary Education Commission was
granted puissant duties and powers in 1974, after replacing the Coordinating Council for Higher
Education (Education Commission of the States, 2016). The commission does not serve as a
governing board but as an advisory committee to the House of Representatives, governor, and higher
education institutions, with matters paramount to education policies (Education Commission of States,
2016). The commission holds the authority to review state public and private higher education
institutions financial records, budgets, academic programs and provide recommendations for campus
expansions. However, the primary function of the commission is to coordinate practices that prevent
redundancy within the education divisions (Education Commission of States, 2016). The focus of the
commission is driven by the state s strategic work plan, for which goals are established targeting
institutional areas of concern. Members of the commission constitutes 16 people, 9 in which are
selected by the public, 3 appointed by the governor, 3 by the Senate Rules Committee and 3 by the
California Assembly speaker (Education Commission of States, 2016). A representative from the

Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Recent developments in the treatment of age related macular degeneration
Age related macular degeneration (AMD) is a common cause of irreversible blindness in the elderly.
AMD is characterized by the progression from early to intermediate stages of the disease. The two
major advanced forms are the geographic atrophy (GA) AMD and neovascular AMD. GA or dry AMD
is characterized by loss of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells and outer layers of the neurosensory
retina as well as the choriocapillaris. Neovascular or wet AMD is characterized by the formation of
choroidal neovascularization (CNV), the ingrowth of new blood vessels from the choriocapillaris

Anti VEGF therapy must be administered repeatedly, sometimes every month, over a long period of
time. As AMD is a chronic disease, patients need to return regularly for monitoring and treatment
visits. Real life observational studies have shown that this burden, along with adherence aspects, often
leads to undertreatment and subsequent visual loss. Recent studies indicate that, despite optimal
individualized treatment, visual function may slowly deteriorate due to other AMD related disease
processes. Additionally, there is not yet a treatment available to slow progression of the nonexudative
late stage dry manifestation of AMD, i.e., geographic atrophy (GA). One of the challenges in
developing AMD therapies is the lack of good animal models. Mice and rats among other
distinguishing features do not have a macula or a foveola. The neovascular phenotype can be
simulated to some extent by laser induced CNV animal models; however, this wound model has no
aspects of aging changes in outer retinal layers, the RPE, or Bruch s membrane. Animal models for
GA are also limited. Disease modeling could be a

noted (Z. Killinger, J. Payer, I. Lazúrová et al 2010). Because it tends to progress slowly, early signs

The liver produces a hormone called insulin like growth factor I (IGF I) when GH is secreted into the
blood stream. This result in the growth of bones and other tissues. If the pituitary gland makes too
much GH, excessive amounts of IGF I can result leading to abnormal growth of the soft tissues and
skeleton and other signs and symptoms characteristic of acromegaly and gigantism. In adults, a tumor
is the most common cause of too much GH production: Pituitary tumors. Most cases of acromegaly
are caused by a noncancerous tumor of the pituitary gland. Secretion of excessive amounts of growth
hormone causes the signs and symptoms of acromegaly. Symptoms such as headaches and impaired
vision are resultant of the tumor mass pressing on nearby brain tissues. Tumors in other parts of the
body, such as the lungs, pancreas or adrenal glands can also cause acromegaly in few people. These
tumors are from non pituitary origin which sometimes secrete GH. In some cases, the tumors produce
a hormone called growth hormone releasing hormone (GH RH) which stimulates the pituitary to make

U.s. Procurement And Strategic Sourcing Activities
CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
From the late Nineties, a raft of latest e commerce technologies emerged that aimed to revolutionize
operating practices, replace existing businesses and lead in the production of new business models
(Sinha, I.2000; Barua et al.,2001). Following this growth in use of e commerce in business to business
markets, there has been important adoption of latest supply chain related technology and applications
by organizations globally. The procurement function has been notably stricken by this trend with a
foretold growth in e procurement applications covering each transactional shopping for and strategic
sourcing activities (Croom S, 2000). A major contributor behind this development has been the
evolution of the procurement function towards an additional strategic role in supporting both,
company goals and supply chain objectives.
Procurement is a central service provided by a zealous team of executives. It functions at the interface
between the organizations, the external supplier, marketplace and also the organizations operational
processes (Knudsen D, 2003). This implies that the procurement processes and data have to be on the
market for one or all actors within the supply chain to optimize the advantages of e procurement. The
applications that inform the e procurement landscape are designed to alter the buying cycle, optimize
pay, improve methods and progress, support bidding and tendering and facilitate more practical

to the Appalachian Voices Organization, This means not only lost wildlife habitat, but also the steady
disappearance of a forest system that naturally captures and holds carbon dioxide, one of the
greenhouse gases responsible for climate change. For this reason, mountaintop removal is becoming a
cause of global warming due to many things such as deforestation, which exposes carbon stored in

According to the Appalachian Voices Organization, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency notes
that iron and manganese concentrations surpass drinking water guidelines in at least 40% of wells on
the Appalachian Plateau, and in about 70% of the wells near reclaimed surface coal mines of the
region. This proves that many communities local drinking water are being poisoned by the chemicals
and waste left behind from the mountaintop removal sites that has entered their water supply and
many water streams. Coal slurry, a waste left after washing and processing coal with water and
chemicals, also gets into to their drinking supply and extremely dangerous because it is highly toxic
and it can leach into groundwater. Furthermore, On August 20, 2004, a bulldozer pushed a boulder
weighing half a ton from a mountaintop removal site in Appalachia, Virginia. The falling boulder
crashed into the side of a residence, crushing 3 year old Jeremy Davidson in his sleep. This
demonstrates that mountaintop removal is terribly dangerous most especially to local communities
affected by it because the debris and explosions from mountaintop removal can destroy nearby
buildings and potentially kill someone. Mountaintop removal should be banned because it is a threat

Compating the Huxtables with My Family
Watching a comedy sitcom like The Cosby Show is a great way to unwind from a stressful day at
school. The show s characters are likeable and the storyline is humorous, but halfway through the
program I usually turn the television off and return to the kitchen to wash the dinner dishes. Watching
The Cosby Show makes me feel guilty. The Huxtables are too perfect. Their house is too perfect. In
comparison to the Huxtables I feel like an unfit mother in a slovenly, dysfunctional family. The
characters on The Cosby Show should be portrayed in a more realistic manner; in fact, the program

If I do happen to be in the kitchen with my kids, I am in a ratty bathrobe, hair half set, and mascara on
only one eye. I am making last minute lunches, slurping coffee and ignoring my husband s bellowing
for someone to bring another roll of toilet paper to him in the upstairs bathroom. My kids and my
husband never discuss their daily plans with me; they enjoy adding a little suspense to my day.
Another farfetched scene from The Cosby Show is Mr. and Mrs. Huxtable s mediation of sibling
quarrels. When a quarrel begins Mr. and Mrs. Huxtable are usually sitting on the couch with nothing
better to do than anticipate a problem. The children come down and rationally explain the problem and
their side of the story. If there is any name calling, the children use harmless words like stupid and
meanie. Meanwhile Mr. and Mrs. Huxtable serenely listen to each child s point of view. With infinite
patience they wisely mediate a truce with a brilliant compromise acceptable to both sides. Everyone is
happy; the problem is solved.
On the contrary, in my family we do not have quarrels; we have combat situations which erupt at the
most inopportune times such as when I m plunging a toilet and my husband is under his car. The cause
of the problem and the kids points of view are irrelevant to us because my husband and I are dodging

Driving by dealerships on the way to work every morning I see people with hands on the back of their
heads standing in those car lots looking. They go from car to car, pointing and shrugging. I recently
found myself in the same position this week. The search I need a new car, but I m not a car guy. I don t
have a classic 1968 Ford Mustang, nor can I afford a brand new Benz or Lexus. Honestly, to me a car
is a means. I need to get places, there s no subway where I live and buses just don t cut it. As much as
I hate it, I need a car and the one I am driving now is ready to die. I didn t always feel that way.
Starting my search I asked Google what he thought. In return, I had lists of this past years top cars in
order of safety, gas mileage, price. It was like looking at toy cars on the shelf of a store. I didn t see
any difference between them and had no better idea of what I wanted. Asking coworkers, they could
only tell me what they disliked, saying, Don t get a Ford, unless you want to fix or repair it daily, or
Don t get a Chevy, it s not worth it. Well, then what do I get? Like those people I see on my way into
the rote, I started making my rounds at the dealerships: Ford, Chevy, Acura, Toyota. I spoke to
salesmen and they worked hard to convince me I needed which ever car we looked at. Last weekend, I
weighed the prices, the mileage, and the possibility beside colors and payments and features. I came
out with nothing and felt like I was less sure. I eyed an economic hybrid, thinking maybe I could buy a
nice green Prius; or go for a retro look and get a Dodge Charger, so I could rev with a little power.
This and that: apples, oranges, it was all the same to me. I broke down and asked my wife, What
should I get? All she could say was, You are you going to disagree with whatever I suggest. When she

Discrepancies In Raiders Of The Lost Ark
Historical Discrepancies in Raiders of the Lost Ark
Raiders of the Lost Ark was a fictional film that involved Indiana Jones search for the Ark of the
Covenant and his struggle against the German Nazis. Along with the Nazis, he fought against one of
his personal enemies, Dr. Belloq. The film took place in 1936, three years before the beginning of
World War II. This movie used the Nazi search for religious artifacts and created a mission, and an
enemy, for Indiana Jones. Raiders of the Lost Ark contained many historical references, but it
contained many fictional aspects as well.
The main character in Raiders of the Lost Ark was Indiana Jones. Marion Ravenwood accompanied
him on his search for the Ark of the Covenant. She was the daughter of Jones former archaeology
professor. She was angry with Indiana Jones in the beginning of the movie due to an event which
occurred before the movie began. One of the main antagonists, Dr. René Belloq, was a French
archaeologist hired by the Nazis. The other was a German Nazi named Major Arnold Toht. Arnold

The Nazis acted cruel and unemotional in the film. While this behavior coincides with history, it still
counts as bias against the Nazis. Raiders of the Lost Ark also portrayed the French as evil conspirators
with Germany using Dr. Belloq as representation for France. The French were not wicked, they merely
set different goals and saw the world in a different way than America and Britain. On the more
positive side, Raiders of the Lost Ark portrayed the Ark of the Covenant as all powerful and it burned
away the swastika on the Nazi crate. The Ark also killed everyone who watched it open because
human eyes were not meant to see its contents. It s assumed that Indiana Jones was a Christian

The Opening of Baz Lurhmann s Film Adaptation of Romeo and Juliet In 1997, Baz Lurhmann
adapted a modern stylish version of Romeo and Juliet which was originally made in the 16th century.
Using certain techniques, Baz Lurhmann has made this modified version thrilling and unforgettable.
Throughout this essay I will analyse the different techniques Baz Lurhman has used to make this film
adaptation effective. Set in Los Angeles, there are two rivals, the Montague s and the Capulates. Being

The director has used this shot to create suspense and tension. By focussing on the sign it gives
emphasis and meaning. This immediately gets the audience thinking and creates deep effect because
the audience is getting into the film and makes them think and feel tension. In contrast Lurhmann uses
a low angle shot to great effect. He is focussing on the helicopter in the air, the effect this has shows
the audience that the prince; someone important is arriving therefore its as if we look up to him,
however this can make the audience feel small and vulnerable. The next technique I will be focussing
on is editing and shot transitions. In the first scene we see the introduction on Romeo and Juliet with
voices talking and background music. Then a wipe out edit is used to introduce the Montague boys
who are in their car. The effect this has is that it reduces tension; because during the introduction it
was building up by continuous flicking shots, which created a sense of tension, then it all stops and
focuses on the Capulate boys which then reduces the tension. As a result it also introduces comedy
and creates a slightly more calm effect. Another type of edit Lurhmann uses is a freeze frame. This is
used on several occasions, one of them being as the camera focuses on Capulates heel and slowly
moves up the body, where the freeze frame is focussed on Capulates face. This

If HilFiger Fashion go for multiple steps then another problem is that it may increase the cost of the
product because in each layer profit will be added. Which will increase VAT as well as increase the
price of the product. So, its cost saving.
If Hilfiger move for multiple step distribution Channel then it will take long time. So, using this
channel is very time saving. This channel will channelizes the product of the target company at a very
short time. If this channel is not used then it will take long time to reach the customers then there is a
chance that the product or Fashion will be out dated. (Marketing Teacher, 2014)
Hilfiger have to choose this channel because if the it sells its product directly to the industrial buyer
there is great chance that they will further sell it to the wholesaler of Dubai. So, to keep the chain
small it is mandatory for the company to go for this channel.

Tenant Education: a Treatment, not a Cure In Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, by

children each year, amounting to approximately 16 families evicted daily through the court system,
and many more removed by other, even less pleasant means (4). Many communities across America
have started to offer tenant education programs to teach renters how to manage their money and their

Desmond describes in Evicted Milwaukee s remarkable decline in employment, starting with almost
no unemployment in the postwar years to having an unemployment rate in the double digits, partially
due to an exodus of manufacturing jobs. The remaining jobs paid less, since they were in the service
sector rather than unemployment (24). With the decline in well paying jobs in many parts of America,
many tenants will not have the money to pay the rent no matter what and how much knowledge they
are given about how to manage it. An effective program would have to somehow help the tenants find
safe housing, initial funding, and a job to ensure their knowledge can then be applied to stay housed in
the long term. In Evicted, Arleen is not depicted doing anything that would seem substantial to get her
evicted, unless it is to be considered her fault that a man kicked down her door when her sons threw
snowballs at his car (Desmond 2). However, it is revealed that Arleen and her children have been
without a home many times (Desmond 3). Arleen and tenants like her will not benefit substantially

Policy and Promotion (CNPP) launched the MyPlate icon, a simple, yet powerful, visual cue to
prompt consumers to think about their food choices across food groups and to build a healthy plate at
meal times (Levine et al., 2012). MyPlate like its predecessors, the Food Guide Pyramid and
MyPyramid follow the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA), which includes communication

individuals responsible for the purchasing and preparing of food for the entire household have a strong

most of the food, the communication strategy for MyPlate can be best employed for all users.
However, since the launch of MyPlate the African American community has failed to utilize the

The Negative Impacts Of Women In Technology Education
Women s educational level is increased from the last few years by the invention of media literacy.
Women are encouraged to learn technology education and choose a new field for their future. It has
been explored that female applicants are less hired because they watched by both female and male
controllers as less skilled than male applicant. Empowerment takes place with the CARE s leadership
model that has been tested since 2009 in 28 countries. Girls get to know so much about this, and they
get leadership qualities through which they get more aware about equal rights. (Stromquist 318 19)
These kind of partiality highlight the gender, exercise that women faced at the first stage of their
occupation. Through opening new programs for girls that teach media literacy and its negative
impacts, it also opens new avenues for them, so women would be encouraged to pursue new fields of
education than what is expected from them and believe in what they want to do, regardless of what
media literacy teaches.Women plays crucial role in society development education is very important
for them.
Women are getting less opportunities to enroll in the technology class. The percentage in female
enrollment in technology classes is less than the enrollment of males. Gloeckner, Gene W. in his

Ethics Auditing
Ethics Auditing: Identify the benefits and limits of ethics auditing. Is there a strategic role that ethics
auditing may play in a company?
Ethics Auditing
By definition, an ethics audit is a systematic evaluation of an organization s ethics program and/or
performance to determine its effectiveness. (1) This concept of ethics auditing is fairly new and few
companies have conducted an ethics audit. However, performing such audits will likely become more
mainstream as recent legislation encourages greater ethical accountability for companies to

The Culture and Variety of Argentina
The Culture and Variety of Argentina The country of Argentina is one rich in history and complex in
culture. It is located in the far reaches of South America, inhabiting 1,068,302 square miles of the
southeastern region of the continent, and over 39,000,000 people populate it. Those people make up
the identity of a culture, a society of Argentinians that inhabit a unique place amongst not only the
Latin American region, but also the world as a whole. If we are to analyze the culture of the
Argentinians, there is one important place to start. Buenos Aires, the capitol of the country, accounts
for over a third of the country s population, and is rich in diversity. The city, and country, has religion
freedom, as well as many different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same article goes on to describe the intricacies of the dance: The dance is one of the most
important expressions of the tango and the visual beauty illustrates the spirit of the music. A foot
moves in every musical note, meaning that if a foot moves in one note, in the following note the other
one should, too; similar to walking (Easy, 2010). With such unique characteristics amongst the
Argentinian people in society and entertainment, there has to be similar diversity amongst the culinary
realm of Argentina s culture. According to that of Argentour.com, most Argentinians eat four meals
each day. The diet may differ in different regions. Desayuno (breakfast) is a light meal of rolls and jam
with coffee. For almuerzo (lunch), many Argentinians eat meat and vegetables or salads. After work
but before dinner, people go to confiterías (cafés) to drink espresso and eat picadas, small dishes of
cheese, mussels, salami, anchovies, olives and peanuts. Cena (dinner) in the evening is the largest
meal of the day and almost always includes beef (Argentour, 2012). Beef has been the main staple of
Argentinian diet since the nineteenth century when cattle were plentiful throughout the region. The
country of Argentina has proven to contain a unique culture and society.

Sylvia Polish Father
The relationship between the speaker in Sylvia Plath s Daddy and her father is the most complex due
to the difficult situation that is presented. This piece begins with the speaker stating that she is fed up
with the black shoe that she has lived in for thirty years. This is the beginning of an assumed tension
between the speaker and her father that builds throughout the poem. The speaker then goes on to talk
about how she should have killed her father before he left . This is the breaking point of the
relationship between the speaker and her father. This poem shows that the father passed away, most
likely in the speakers youth, before the speaker was ready to let him go. One can assume that the
speaker was trying to earn the approval or maker her father proud and could not ... Show more content

This is a very complex and hard problem to deal with and can be seen in the writing throughout this
poem. The next part of the poem hints at the speaker having a German background which could
suggest that her father is a German immigrant. This could have also contributed to the frustrations that
the speaker and her father faced throughout their years living in a black shoe for a home. The speaker
then goes on to discuss how a polish town was completely destroyed in a war. The speaker repeated
the word war three times which hints that this town has been through more than war, maybe even
three. Now we get more about Germany than just an exclamation in the language. The speaker is
talking about the German tongue, or language, but in a Polish town that has been destroyed by war.
The speaker describes that there are a lot of town in Poland that share the same name so that she will

Lydia Kennell Research Paper
Tell me about the olden days, Lydia Kennell was often asked by her grandchildren. Born as Lydia
Kauffman on August 30, 1932, she was born and raised as a Mennonite in Belleville, Pennsylvania on
a dairy farm. After marrying Marvin Kennell on October 22, 1961, Lydia moved with Marvin to his
hometown of Roanoke, Illinois where they lived for fifty six years until recently moving to the Eureka
AC Home. Lydia and Marvin had two children, Betty and Bryant, while accumulating seven
grandchildren and six great grandchildren. When asked about the olden days, Lydia always makes sure
to mention her home back in Pennsylvania. The good days, Lydia would recall when thinking of
where she grew up in Kishacoquillas Valley, known locally as Big Valley ... Show more content on

Ever since her and Marvin had a grandchild, there always seemed to be a grandkid over every
weekend. It was always a treat for one of the kids to stay with Marvin and Lydia. When over, the
grandkids would always go into town in Roanoke and visit all the businesses. For more fun, the
grandkids would always play many games of Uno with their grandparents. The grandkids always
enjoyed playing with the dogs and cats at the farm, too. Lydia stills remembers walking out into the
breezeway of her house and seeing the grandkids playing with the dogs inside rather than outside. A
big yearly event would be when Marvin and Lydia would take their grandkids to Bloomington Normal
to see the Christmas lights and Santa. The grandkids would usually take a little bit of persuasion, but
eventually sit on Santa. School functions and sporting events of the grandchildren also always held
Marvin and Lydia in attendance. A big signature of Marvin was to always be handing out candy.
Marvin s philosophy was that as long as the kid had teeth, he could eat candy, a little sugar never
killed nobody. After Marvin s passing in 2005, Lydia made sure to carry on the tradition her husband
had started and always pass out candy to every young child she saw. No matter what has happened in
Lydia s life, she has constantly made an effort to value her grandchildren and put them near the
forefront of her

Comparing the poems Neutral Tones and Absence Essay
Comparing the poems Neutral Tones and Absence
Both the poems Neutral Tones by Thomas Hardy and Absence by
Elizabeth Jennings mention and describe the poets feelings about losing their partners. Even though
the general theme, the loss of love, is the same, many features such as tone, imagery, language and
rhyme scheme differ from each other.
Hardy emphasises more on his feelings towards his break up. He doesn t actually mention how he
feels, but instead, the imagery he uses and the way he describes his ex girlfriend shows that he feels
broken and angry. The tone in this poem is very solemn and dull, though it is quite strong in some
areas like The smile on your mouth was the deadest thing and your face, and the ... Show more content

Hardy seems frustrated at the girl rather than sad that she is leaving him. The line the smile on your
mouth was the deadest thing is a very forceful line and implies that he is annoyed and not lamenting.
On the other hand, Jennings is angry because the environment she was in didn t share her devastation
and loneliness. She called the birds
thoughtless , which shows she was angry with them and it also gives the impression that she feels the
birds were supposed to feel her pain with her, but instead, was oblivious to her misery. The line, which
suggests that she wants to feel happy, is singing an ecstasy I could not share .
The two poets also use different imageries to convey their feelings.
The poems are set in two totally different backgrounds. Neutral
Tones was set in a lifeless place but Absence was set in a place that was merry.
Hardy uses dead images in his poem such as a winter day , which symbolises coldness and bitterness,
sun was white chidden of God to symbolise gloom and melancholy, starving sod and many more. All
these images that Hardy use, emphasise the fact that they have broken up and how he feels angry yet
heart broken at the same time. These
dead images are very appropriate to this poem because they show that even nature could sense the loss
of passion and the death of a relationship. Hardy uses colours like white and grey which are dull
colours. I also imagine the colour brown even though it is

Technological Needs Essay
As I go into university, my technological needs are going to increase. I am going to need a new
smartphone, internet service plan, a laptop, and some peripherals to go with my laptop. The laptop is
the Lenovo ThinkPad T470, for its long battery life, new microprocessor, and low weight, among
other things. The smartphone is the iPhone 8, with wireless charging and powerful microprocessor.
The peripherals I will need are a mouse for my laptop, an external hard drive to archive my files, and a
printer to print out any documents I need. The service plan is the Rogers Basic Bundle, which has
Internet and television provided.

The size is only 11.35x7.6x1.21cm, small enough that I can take it anywhere. This hard drive also uses
USB to connect, so I don t need any special cables. The price is only $109.92, cheaper than other
drives of the same size by about twenty dollars. The last peripheral I am going to need is a printer. I
have chosen the HP Officejet Pro 8210 Wireless Inkjet Printer. It has a printing speed of 22 pages per
minute, which should be fast enough to print what I need, even if I m in a hurry. It is an inkjet printer,
which generally are cheaper to refill ink than a laser printer. I will need a printer to print out any
projects I have for my classes, and this printer would best suit my needs. This printer only costs

Communication Device
I am going to need a smartphone for communication when I enter university. I have chosen the iPhone
8 64GB. This phone has touch ID to sign in, which will speed up the process. It also can charge
wirelessly, so I don t need to actually plug it in, and the cable is less likely to break. The phone also
has A11 Bionic, which is the most powerful chip available in smartphones. The storage of 64 GB will
certainly be enough that I won t run out of space. The camera can record 4k video, and has a
resolution of 12 megapixels. The phone is water resistant as well. It only weighs 150 grams, which
would feel like nothing. The price is $969.99, which may be expensive, but this phone is well worth it

Heather Whitestone Hearing Loss The biggest handicap in the world is negative thinking and that people handicap themselves by concentrating only on the negative instead of the positive, said Heather Whitestone (Premiere Speakers Bureau). Even though Heather Whitestone was deaf, she showed the world that she was willing to work hard to achieve success. Hearing loss affects many people throughout the country. About two million people in the United States are completely deaf, while eighteen to twenty one million people need hearing aids (Mango 21). Symptoms of hearing loss may include difficulty understanding words or phrases. It is assumed Isaac Newton witnessed an apple fall from a tree thus beginning a thought process only someone with an estimated IQ level of 190 would take the time to think about. He began thinking that the force which caused the apple to be attracted to the Earth couldn t be any different from the force which causes the moon to be attracted to the earth; remaining in orbit. Both objects are being pulled towards the earth, however the moon, unlike the apple isn t crashing into our home planet. The moon is moving sideways so quickly that it s missing our planet completely which is what is keeping it in orbit. Next time I get pulled over, I m going to have to tell the police officer, that if the moon speeds to avoiding crashing into something on earth, so am I. Newton realized that however this gravitational force worked, any other object with mass would probably behave the exact same way, whether it be another planet, the sun, or you falling into bed after a long day. Newton s Law of Gravitation directly states any two bodies attract each other with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. Wow, that s a mouthful. Leave it to the professionals. All we need to know is what goes up must come down, and yes that includes that missing balloon from your fifth birthday. • 4. Consumer Law Essay Discuss the extent to which Consumer law achieves its objectives. The most efficient way for consumers to get what they want is through the market , not the government, but businesses have more power than their customers. Some businesses can and will use abuse this power and cheat and steal from consumers to make money. Because of this, the government regulates the behaviour of businesses to have a market economy that functions properly. These laws mainly protect consumers against; misleading/deceptive representations, unconscionable conduct, unfair contracts, and unsafe goods and/or services. To protect consumers, different legal and non legal approaches have been taken. Statutory protections by the government, like the Australian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coles claims and advertises that its bread is baked today, sold today and freshly baked in store . It was found that the bread was not, in fact, baked in Australia, but partially baked months earlier in overseas factories. Coles accepted a guilty verdict and claimed that new packaging was already being produced. Coles could face fines of up to $1.1 million per breach. This demonstrates how effective the ACCC is in enforcing the ACL but penalties may not be harsher enough. For a large business, like Coles, $1.1 million is not that much of a penalty compared to the profits it makes. Non statutory protections to help the ACL in achieving its objectives can be just as effective as statutory protections. One protection is the media. The media is a very powerful tool and can wreak havoc on the profitability of a business. To stay out of the harsh spotlight that is the media, businesses tend to straighten out really quickly if found to be in breach of a section of the ACL. This helps to protect consumers to the degree that it makes businesses comply with the law quickly but it doesn t stop them from doing it to stat with until they get caught. Another non statutory measure in protecting consumers is through External Dispute Resolution Schemes (EDR). An example of an EDR is the Financial Ombudsmen Service (FOS) which helps to protect consumers in matters regarding credit loans. The FOS is a cheaper, faster way of reaching a solution to ... Research Paper On Dante s Inferno Buffy Lunsford Montgomery World Literature Deborah Germany December 7, 2016 Let The Punishment Fit The Crime I grew up in a very strict, religious household and though I was never baptized in the religion I was a practicing Jehovah s Witness till about the age of 25. I do still occasionally go to their meetings but more importantly I still believe the fundamentals of what they teach and Hell is not one of those fundamentals. Jehovah s Witness s believe that when you die that your body and soul returns to the earth. In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return (New World Translation, Gen. 3.19). Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, where you are going (New World Translation, Ec. 9.10). The Witness s teach death is the punishment for sin, not hell. So I found this topic of Hell, it s sinners and their punishments for our Critical Response paper what peaked my interest the most. Dante s Inferno The Divine Comedy although it is divine by literary standards there is nothing comedic about it. Dante s journey through hell is an eye opening and terrifying one for him as he searches to find Jehovah s grace and love again and release his self of sin. The first one being a client age 82 with a diagnosis of moderate severe global aphasia and severe verbal and oral apraxia. After a transient ischemic attack (TIA) evolved into a left middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCA), her speech output largely involved stereotypical ma utterances. This client has always arrived to her speech and language sessions with a smile and in a timely manner. I found it challenging to understand what she wanted to share in the beginning since I did not phrase my questions or comments in a way that warranted clear answers nor did I use her low tech AAC book to supplement the conversations but after learning to shape my own words and getting acquainted to her AAC book, her responses became clearer to me. I had the pleasure with working with an amazing individual with Locked in Syndrome who was 42 years old. Although limited physically, she floored me with her motivation and humor during each session. Introduction Katheryn Garcia Psychology 125 Spring 2017 Introduction Cognitive distortions are basically negative and inaccurate thoughts that our minds convince us of being true. Everyone gets these kinds of thoughts whether we realize it or not and for some people they occur more often than others. A simple example of this is someone who fails at one thing and then thinks or believes that they are failure at everything. Some of these thoughts may be much more subtle but still have a huge effect on us and our thought process. It s an important topic to discuss because as we learn more about the different kinds of cognitive distortions we can learn how to prevent them or change the thoughts. Impact of the Cognitive Distortion The immediate impact this negative thought has on me is feeling like a failure and just giving in. I feel pretty defeated and upset at myself for not being stronger and avoiding temptation . After this kind of thought occurs and once I m done eating, I initially feel so letdown and angry at myself but the next day I use it as a motivation to go forward and not repeat it, though I do find myself occasionally coming back to it, almost as a cycle. Automatic Negative Thought Another negative thought(s) I find myself having often is not being good enough. This is something that I usually find myself thinking a lot about after an altercation or disagreement with someone. There have been a few instances in my life when I m put in a position where someone I care for picks someone else over me, this being both emotional and not. I have found that this is thought I have a lot in my personal relationships and many times I have this thought after a small incident or argument. I think this is tendency I have a lot, to think negatively about myself, when small problems occur. Cognitive Distortion This would fall under over generalization. I believe that me taking a small argument or incident that many times has nothing to do with myself, and turning on to negative thought about myself not being good enough for other person is something I definitely ... • 11. Character Analysis Of Little Snow White In Little Snow White by Germany, Jacob, and Wilhelm Grimm, there is a Queen who becomes jealous of her seven year old daughter. She envied her daughter s beauty and sends a huntsman to kill Snow White. Snow White is then all alone and unable to care for herself and becomes dependent of the Seven Dwarfs. Although she is the main character, she is also the weakest character in the story. In Fables, we encounter a very different Snow White. Here Snow White oversees the town, Fabletown. Unlike the original fairytale story, there are no Dwarfs looking after her. She doesn t need a Prince to come to her rescue because she is the hero in her own right. Her fierceness makes her a strong female who embodies power. Unlike the Little Snow White, in Fables Snow White is the head in charge, she s independent, and bold. Snow White is the head in charge who runs a town called Fabletown. She still needs to run things by the Mayor but overall, she is the face of Fabletown. Others come to her with their problems in hopes of a solution. Contrary to the Snow White we know from the original fairytales where Snow White is not in charge of anything and no one comes to her for solutions. Instead, she has the seven dwarfs looking out for her. For example, when the queen tried to kill her they said, It must have been the queen who tried to kill you, take care, and do not let anyone in again (Germany, Jacob, and Wilhelm Grimm). This shows pity on the dwarf s behalf because they knew she was unable to care for herself. However, in Fables, Snow White is now the one looking out for others. For example, Beauty and the Beast come to Snow White for help with their marriage. Although, Snow White was not able to give them a solution, she was now on the opposite end of the table unlike the young and naïve Snow from the fairytale who sought others for her problems. Fables shows a great representation of an independent woman with Snow White. After leaving the homeland and moving to Fabletown, Snow White does not have her Prince Charming. Instead, this Snow White shows that she can do anything she sets her mind to without any help. Something that did not occur in the fairytale where the prince comes to her rescue and they live happily ever ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Importance Of The 7th Amendment The average American appreciates the Seventh Amendment (Amendment VII), though the text itself reflects much of the times in which it was drafted. They understand that it codifies the right to a jury trial in certain civil cases, and hinders courts from overturning a jury s findings of fact. The reason most people comprehend this amendment is because, The Seventh Amendment is generally considered one of the more straightforward amendments of the Bill of Rights. In this essay, I will share my opinion on the importance and efficacy of the 7th Amendment. I will also expound on other elements of this Amendment and finally, I will discuss how this amendment affects my life. An early version of the Seventh Amendment was introduced in Congress in 1789 by James Madison, along with the other amendments, in response to Anti Federalist objections to the new Constitution. Our founders believed a trial by a jury was important. This idea came about based on their life experience with the King of England. A major grievance annotated in the Declaration of Independence was that the King would not permit trial by jury in the colonies. This was due to the colonists often rejecting English law. This rejection is also known as jury nullification; where the jury finds the law to be improper and decides not to punish the person in court. The significance of the 7th Amendment, under the Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution, is that it gives an individual the right to a jury ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover he views his relationship with Valentin rather well as he considers himself to be the submissive female that transforms into the manipulator, that tricks Valentin into eating the prison food, so that he can intentionally take care of him. However Puig is making the reader realize that Molina is enduring an internal struggle. The struggle is that Molina is stuck between telling the Warden the information that he is trying to get from Valentin, yet insisting that Valentin tell him nothing of his political life. These combinations create the angst within the character and the ultimate suspense of the piece as a whole. Perhaps both Valentin and Molina are seeking to escape by explaining the movies they recall. The movies that Molina tells Valentin reveals so much about Molina as he tends to cry each time he goes into the romantic part of the documentaries because Molina lacks love in his life as he is trapped within himself. However when he offers his body, so that is he free from this entrapment is when he makes love with Valentin. This shows us how similar Molina s persona is to that of a woman. The similar trends between Molina and a woman is best reflected when he talks about the love story of Leni. Leni betrays her own country because she lacks love from a man. As some politicians look to resolve the gun control issues, with banning them, imposing more restriction to sellers, buyers and owner; some people and politicians consider the second amendment to be relic and should be removed from the constitution. History has shown us time and time again even through all the violence and chaos in the world and America, that there is a reason for the creation of the second amendment. From history of America independence in 1776 to the ratification of the bill of right in 1791 the 2nd amendment still remains relevant form it creation, to modern times, and the protection of America s future; for the freedom of its inhabitants and citizens. These statements will be the points of discussion for this summary section. Section I is a self rating inventory of statements describing an individual s negotiation style and attitude towards negotiation. In this section, I felt most strongly about statements 8, 10, 16, 17, 18 and 22. Statements 8 and 10 reflect my personality as an individual and potential negotiator, and I strongly felt and believed that (i) I am an impatient person, therefore I do not like slow moving arguments, and (ii) I have a strong sense of humor, which, in a negotiation process, could help relieve tension or stress and could help smoothen the negotiation/bargaining process. Statements 16 and 22 talks about power and competition, respectively. Personally, I am not the kind of person who seeks power deliberately. I like power but I do not mind sharing it with another person. Both periods of Germany s history have a commonality in their being brought on by the rippling effects of the Treaty of Versailles. This treaty was imposed on the German Empire at the final stages of the first World War. In an irregular way, considering the weight of the treaty, the Treaty of Versailles was signed among a group of national leaders which lacked German representation; this non German group of people, in a single day, wrongly castrated Germany. Ignited by the reactions to the assassination of the Archduke of Austria Hungary, Franz Ferdinand, the first World War was a war much unlike the wars before it. For the first time in world history, war ascended from a matter between two or so bickering nations to a pancontinental struggle resulting in a degree of devastation not seen in the past. Due to the complicated and tangled alliance system put into place by the German statesman, Otto Von Bismarck, the combatants of the war were divided into two opposing factions: The Allied Powers and the Central Powers. It does not identify if this is somebody repeating You are mine. over and over or instead if it is a back and forth conversation between Sethe and Beloved. By leaving this question unanswered we are made to decide our own interpretation of the character Beloved s overall origin. If Sethe is the one saying You are mine. You are mine. You are mine. it solidifies her belief that Beloved is her baby reincarnated by showing that she feels like she possesses Beloved like a mother owns a daughter. Earlier I discussed that if Sethe were to let parts of her that are precious and fine be taken to Sweet Home with schoolteacher, it would be to let the life that she made be destroyed. • 22. Lifting of Corporate Veil in Tort Cases in Pursuit of Justice Lifting of Corporate Veil in Tort Cases in Pursuit of Justice Introduction Limited liability has been the prevailing rule for corporations for more than a century. It creates incentives for excessive risk taking by allowing companies to avoid the full costs of their activities. Strict application of this rule in all cases would lead to inflexibility and injustice, particularly in tort cases. Therefore, as suggested by Stephen Griffin in the interests of justice and to prevent subsidiary companies being used as convenient risk takers for their parent...the [corporate] veil must not become immovable. In order to maximize cash flow, these firms have a strong incentive for excessive risk taking activities, which drastically increase the exposure to tort liability. Carcinogens in the workplace, environmental harms to the surrounding and hazardous products are all sources of massive tortious liability. [9] Very often, business firms would reorganize their structure to exploit limited liability to evade tort claims, such as deliberately placing hazardous activities in under funded subsidiaries. GA or dry AMD is characterized by loss of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells and outer layers of the neurosensory retina as well as the choriocapillaris. Recent studies indicate that, despite optimal individualized treatment, visual function may slowly deteriorate due to other AMD related disease processes. Additionally, there is not yet a treatment available to slow progression of the nonexudative late stage dry manifestation of AMD, i.e., geographic atrophy (GA). One of the challenges in developing AMD therapies is the lack of good animal models. Mice and rats among other distinguishing features do not have a macula or a foveola. • 26. U.s. Procurement And Strategic Sourcing Activities CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY From the late Nineties, a raft of latest e commerce technologies emerged that aimed to revolutionize operating practices, replace existing businesses and lead in the production of new business models (Sinha, I.2000; Barua et al.,2001). Following this growth in use of e commerce in business to business markets, there has been important adoption of latest supply chain related technology and applications by organizations globally. The procurement function has been notably stricken by this trend with a foretold growth in e procurement applications covering each transactional shopping for and strategic sourcing activities (Croom S, 2000). A major contributor behind this development has been the evolution of the procurement function towards an additional strategic role in supporting both, company goals and supply chain objectives. Procurement is a central service provided by a zealous team of executives. It functions at the interface between the organizations, the external supplier, marketplace and also the organizations operational processes (Knudsen D, 2003). This implies that the procurement processes and data have to be on the market for one or all actors within the supply chain to optimize the advantages of e procurement. He is focussing on the helicopter in the air, the effect this has shows the audience that the prince; someone important is arriving therefore its as if we look up to him, however this can make the audience feel small and vulnerable. The next technique I will be focussing on is editing and shot transitions. In the first scene we see the introduction on Romeo and Juliet with voices talking and background music. Then a wipe out edit is used to introduce the Montague boys who are in their car. The effect this has is that it reduces tension; because during the introduction it was building up by continuous flicking shots, which created a sense of tension, then it all stops and focuses on the Capulate boys which then reduces the tension. As a result it also introduces comedy and creates a slightly more calm effect. Another type of edit Lurhmann uses is a freeze frame. With the decline in well paying jobs in many parts of America, many tenants will not have the money to pay the rent no matter what and how much knowledge they are given about how to manage it. • 43. Sylvia Polish Father The relationship between the speaker in Sylvia Plath s Daddy and her father is the most complex due to the difficult situation that is presented. This piece begins with the speaker stating that she is fed up with the black shoe that she has lived in for thirty years. This is the beginning of an assumed tension between the speaker and her father that builds throughout the poem. The speaker then goes on to talk about how she should have killed her father before he left . This is the breaking point of the relationship between the speaker and her father. This poem shows that the father passed away, most likely in the speakers youth, before the speaker was ready to let him go. One can assume that the speaker was trying to earn the approval or maker her father proud and could not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a very complex and hard problem to deal with and can be seen in the writing throughout this poem. The next part of the poem hints at the speaker having a German background which could suggest that her father is a German immigrant. This could have also contributed to the frustrations that the speaker and her father faced throughout their years living in a black shoe for a home. The speaker then goes on to discuss how a polish town was completely destroyed in a war. The speaker repeated the word war three times which hints that this town has been through more than war, maybe even three. Now we get more about Germany than just an exclamation in the language. The speaker is talking about the German tongue, or language, but in a Polish town that has been destroyed by war. The speaker describes that there are a lot of town in Poland that share the same name so that she will never know for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Born as Lydia Kauffman on August 30, 1932, she was born and raised as a Mennonite in Belleville, Pennsylvania on a dairy farm. After marrying Marvin Kennell on October 22, 1961, Lydia moved with Marvin to his hometown of Roanoke, Illinois where they lived for fifty six years until recently moving to the Eureka AC Home. Lydia and Marvin had two children, Betty and Bryant, while accumulating seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Ever since her and Marvin had a grandchild, there always seemed to be a grandkid over every weekend. It was always a treat for one of the kids to stay with Marvin and Lydia. When over, the grandkids would always go into town in Roanoke and visit all the businesses. For more fun, the grandkids would always play many games of Uno with their grandparents. The grandkids always enjoyed playing with the dogs and cats at the farm, too. Lydia stills remembers walking out into the breezeway of her house and seeing the grandkids playing with the dogs inside rather than outside. A big yearly event would be when Marvin and Lydia would take their grandkids to Bloomington Normal to see the Christmas lights and Santa. The grandkids would usually take a little bit of persuasion, but eventually sit on Santa. School functions and sporting events of the grandchildren also always held Marvin and Lydia in attendance. A big signature of Marvin was to always be handing out candy. Marvin s philosophy was that as long as the kid had teeth, he could eat candy, a little sugar never killed nobody. After Marvin s passing in 2005, Lydia made sure to carry on the tradition her husband had started and always pass out candy to every young child she saw. No matter what has happened in Lydia s life, she has constantly made an effort to value her grandchildren and put them near the forefront of her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Comparing the poems Neutral Tones and Absence Essay Comparing the poems Neutral Tones and Absence Both the poems Neutral Tones by Thomas Hardy and Absence by Elizabeth Jennings mention and describe the poets feelings about losing their partners. Even though the general theme, the loss of love, is the same, many features such as tone, imagery, language and rhyme scheme differ from each other. Hardy emphasises more on his feelings towards his break up. He doesn t actually mention how he feels, but instead, the imagery he uses and the way he describes his ex girlfriend shows that he feels broken and angry. The tone in this poem is very solemn and dull, though it is quite strong in some areas like The smile on your mouth was the deadest thing and your face, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hardy seems frustrated at the girl rather than sad that she is leaving him. The line the smile on your mouth was the deadest thing is a very forceful line and implies that he is annoyed and not lamenting. On the other hand, Jennings is angry because the environment she was in didn t share her devastation and loneliness. She called the birds thoughtless , which shows she was angry with them and it also gives the impression that she feels the birds were supposed to feel her pain with her, but instead, was oblivious to her misery. The line, which suggests that she wants to feel happy, is singing an ecstasy I could not share . The two poets also use different imageries to convey their feelings. The poems are set in two totally different backgrounds. Neutral Tones was set in a lifeless place but Absence was set in a place that was merry. Hardy uses dead images in his poem such as a winter day , which symbolises coldness and bitterness, sun was white chidden of God to symbolise gloom and melancholy, starving sod and many more. All these images that Hardy use, emphasise the fact that they have broken up and how he feels angry yet heart broken at the same time. These dead images are very appropriate to this poem because they show that even nature could sense the loss of passion and the death of a relationship. Hardy uses colours like white and grey which are dull colours. I also imagine the colour brown even though it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
