Moon Conspiracy
We did land on the moon There are many people who believed that we did land on the moon, but then
there are many others who do not believe we landed on the moon. There are many points that they try
to prove to say that we did not land on the moon such as the flag movement, no stars, and that the
shadows were messed up. There are many ways to prove them wrong with the proof they have that we
landed on the moon.
Conspiracy theorists have pointed out that we did not land on the moon with many points such as the
flag was moving. According to Josh Fox, one of several authors from Listverse, Photos of the landing
also seem to show rippling in a breeze, which clearly shows a fold in the flag. The obvious problem
here is that there s no air ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Josh Fox, one of several authors from Listverse, The moon landing hoax is the total lack
of stars in any of the photographic/video evidence. There are no clouds on the moon, so stars are
perpetually visible and significantly brighter than what we see through the filter of Earth s atmosphere
(Moon landings could be a hoax). According to Erin Ruberry, Washington, D.C. based writer and
editor specializing in digital media, The reason that the stars do not show up on the film is that the
stars are so dim that the camera cannot gather enough of their light in a short exposure. Our eyes are a
lot more sensitive to light than photographic film (Reason for no stars). Another reason from Brent
Sibly, author from def logic.com/cached source, The moon is a very bright whitish object, which
reflects the light from the sun as brightly as snow. Since the astronauts were constantly surrounded by
the bright reflecting surface of the moon, they were always brightly lit (We went to the moon). The
mythbusters proved that the astronauts and camera did not pick the stars by making similar dust to the
moon and shined light on the dust and it reflected brightly and the brighter the moon is the harder it is
to see the moon. And like what Erin Ruberry said the photographic lense could not pick up the stars
from them being

Personal Narrative-The Tower Of Terror
It was around 5 in the afternoon. The air was crisp, we sat on a bench in front of a contraption full of
screaming children and blaring calliope music. The sight of all the lights around me was
overwhelming, I had to squint to prevent myself from going insane. Something about it was enjoyable,
in its own twisted way. Along the streets beside us we saw giant mice marching around and being
followed by hoards of tiny humans. All of the aspects this estate had in store were beautifully put
together. I had spent hours wandering around the vast lands of Disney with my brethren beside me.
We had gone through all of its obstacles. All of its obstacles but one. The tallest spectacle of them all.
A towering attraction known to induce horror inside of anyone who dares to enter its grasp. It is
widely known among the public, but only few are fearless enough are fearless enough to face the

I sauntered down Main Street U.S.A, greeting the gentle giants that walked my way and maneuvering
through the dense crowds of people. Eventually I made it out the border belonging the Land of Disney
and got to the gates leading to California s Adventure, that also happened to be owned by Disney.
Upon my arrival, I was greeted by an American soldier clad in blue protective gear, wielding a silver
and rouge shield with a star in the middle. I took this as an omen that would protect me on the rest of
my journey. I could now see the tower clearly. I was less than half a mile away. I trudged on, until I
finally made it to my destination. There it stood, the ginormous building greeted me with its cold arms
with the help of a man attired with clothes that resembled those of a bellhop. The man asked how
many people were in my party, to which I gallantly responded with a single

Esperanza Rising Analysis
In this excerpt from Esperanza Rising called Asparagus the character Esperanza thinks negatively of
the American Dream, the thought that America has fairness, and opportunity for everyone. I agree
with Esperanza. People may think that America is the land of opportunity, but not everyone gets it. In
America opportunities are not given equal, and these unequal opportunities reflects biased. In
Asparagus Esperanza realizes that not everyone has equal opportunities. Some have better
opportunities than others. Miguel usually works on train engines, but as Miguel explains one day, A

A Report On Healthsouth Used Bad Debt Reserves Essay
whatsoever. Moreover, the amount of the accounts written off in any given year did not correlate with
the allowance established for them. To the extent that these disclosures were reliable, these data
indicate that HealthSouth used bad debt reserves to manipulate earnings. This lack of correlation could
be an indirect indicator of the fourth warning sign of abusive earnings management: reserves that are
not correlated with balance sheet items.
Consider two related items related to uncollectible accounts, to further understand possible earnings
management. First, there were disproportionately large allowance for doubtful accounts balances at
the end of 1994 and 1995: nearly 40% of gross receivables. These existing balances could have been
drawn down without the need to record an accurate provision for doubtful accounts. Consequently, the
year end charge to bad expense, required to replenish the depleted contra asset account, could have
been less than normally expected if the unadjusted allowance balance jibed with economic reality. By
understating expenses in this manner, HealthSouth could have manufactured earnings beginning in the
mid 1990s. These data provide some evidence of the classic cookie jar reserve ploy (Reed et al, 2003).
The related issue is the amount of bad debt expense matched against revenues in 1999. As noted, that
unusually large charge to earnings was made at the time when it became publicly known that
HealthSouth could no longer hit its earnings target.

Police Tension Tensions
Industry Analysis
The New York City Police Department was established in 1845 with the primary responsibilities in
law enforcement and investigation. The NYPD are responsible for five boroughs of New York City.
New York City is comprised of 5 counties that are referred to as boroughs, the NYPD is operationally
divided into 8 patrol boroughs. The Patrol Boroughs are Manhattan South, Manhattan North, Bronx,
Brooklyn South, Brooklyn North, Queens South, Queens North, and Staten Island.
The commands in the facilities consist of 77 precincts, 12 transit districts and 9 housing police service
areas. There are approximately 34,500 police officers in the NYPD
The NYPD are very familiar with situations like shooting unarmed citizens. The shooting of Deborah
Danner; mentally ill 66 year old women shot down due to having a baseball bat in hand. The past
shooting of Amadou Diallo; 23 year old African American man shot 44 times for a misunderstanding
of a wallet in his hand. Circumstances such as these cases repeat time and time again. Shooting
unarmed is the result of excessive force. Officers are trained to be one step ahead of individuals when
handling them. That one step has been abused by uneducated officers and excessively apply force to
unnecessary circumstances. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

narrator of the lost boys of Sudan. She mainly writes about the struggles of people around the world
and the fortitude, or courage, they uphold. According to a recent interview by The Lightning Notes,

Sara has traveled to various places and interviewed numerous people with different backgrounds and
personalities. She is a very empathetic, ambitious and curious person and her achievements have

The Effects Of Media On The Media Influences Viewers
Racial Bias in the Media Influences Viewers
Television reaches more consumers for more time than any other source of media. Its use for
entertainment or news is overly influential, persuasive, and authoritative. Through these
characteristics, any type of information or message influences its massive audience. Because of this,
what Americans see or fail to see has a powerful impact on how they view other races. Young children
are especially vulnerable to the information they are exposed to. TV is a vehicle to provide
experiences and information not otherwise available to them. Older audiences, however, are also
vulnerable to the information. Consistent messages about traits and stereotypes of other races
reinforce specific ideas to the adult viewer. Viewers aren t limited to racial bias when other races are
on the screen, but are also susceptible when races aren t included. As a strong and influential tool,
television uses both obvious and subtle racial bias to influence its viewers.
Television is a strong and influential tool. To first understand why television has a strong influence on
its viewer s, it is important to know some basic facts. According to Nielsen s National Television
Household Universe Estimates, there are 116.4 million TV homes in the U.S. prior to the start of the
2014 15 TV season. The number of persons age 2 and older in U.S. TV Households is estimated to be
296 million (Nielsen, 2014). This stat shows the enormous audience that TV and its messages

High Stakes Testing In High Schools
Schools across the nation are eliminating programs that enhance creativity or even discussions about
the current world events. They all have an identical curriculum and are set up to proceed one type of
mind that processes information in one way. Thus, high stakes testing pressures students to improve
their performance. Lisa Collier states, ... So many Michigan students stayed home when their
assessment tests were given last year that several high schools were threatened with loss of
accreditation. In Illinois, 200 students expressed their scorn for the state s exam by showing up and
deliberately giving the wrong answers. Critics feel the students are being turned off to learning
because they re being force fed the dry facts and figures needed to excel on high stakes tests... The
school is more about testing now, and we have turned away from creative teaching to teach a test and
have unmotivated the students to achieve success. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At my high school, all students from 9 through 12 grade levels were required to take the Regents exam
authorized by the state of New York. If students did not pass the Regents exam in June, their first time,
and were forced to go to summer school and take the Regents again, and if they did not pass the test
again they were held back a grade or they did not graduate with their class. Thus, it is hard to test
students in this way since no one was taught the same way all 12 years or learned the same exact
things. That s not all, before taking the Regent exam in June, we had 4 district assessments each
quarter. Higher amounts of testing will end up frustrating the students and they will feel tired when
taking state tests. Thus, high stakes testing is profoundly a mistaken approach of evaluating student s

Mama s Fear In Like Water For Chocolate
Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that needs our love.
In Like Water for Chocolate Tita had a fear towards her mother. Many characters in the book found
Mama frightening or intimidating. The family was forced into a fearful obedience such as when the La
Garza family is making their Christmas rolls they are not allowed to stop until Mama Elena stated
That s it for today. once that statement is said no one dares question her or says anything else they all
begin cleaning up. (ch 1;10) Mama Elena unconsciously instilled fear into Pedro because when he
gave roses to Tita in a way to sooth her over the death of Nacha. But Rosaura, Tita s older sister and
wife of Pedro, say this she burst into tears causing Mama Elena to give him a look that sent Tita and
Pedro walking away.(ch 3;48) Mama Elena hold over people around her was based of the instinct of
fear.
Mama Elena stirred fear even in strangers. Rebel soldiers came by her house asking for her to
volunteer her services to them. Mama allowed them to go in the corn crib and the stable taking
anything they wished, but when the rebels found out it was close to being bare they tried to go inside

dancers do not have time to do all that because they are doing party dances, with vocabulary and steps
and partner. Harris was able to take street dance and put it on the stage. The hip hop dancers were
trained and they delivered the dance professionally. The design of the dance was magical, there was
concentration, cooperation, communication and creativity. The dancers maintained the rhythm and the
shape of the body was shown by the body and the way it made use of time and space. They costumes
being a key component in the moves matched the description of the dance and this made the
choreographer s idea successful. The lighting was appropriate for the dance; the colors from the
lighting portrayed a recent picture and engaged the audience

Cons Of Book Censorship
Book censorship tries to shelter us from certain books that carry messages that are known as
controversial, but this promotes cleansing children from the harsh reality that we live in today.
Censorship is the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, and news. That are
considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Book censorship has taken many
great works of literature away from us due to topics that may concern parents or school boards. These
topics include racism, sexual jokes or references, and many other messages that have a negative image
in the eyes of parents and schools. While some see book banning as an attack on their favorite book or
just to literature in general, others, mostly parents and schools, see censorship as the best way of
defending their children from the harsh reality that we live in today. Although some see book banning
as a strong attack against important history in literature, others, especially parents, see book banning
as protection from the cruel history our country has had. These inappropriate books could also affect a
child s view on the world. The biggest culprit of this scenario is racism, which is the one reasoning for
the banning of To Kill a Mockingbird and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Parents and schools are
worried that if children read a book with such racial tension and prominence, than the children
themselves will become racists. Stories like these could also confuse students into to

The Death Of An Anarchist Essay
Characters in Accidental Death of an Anarchist
My understanding of the characters in The Accidental Death of an Anarchist was deepened through
the presentation when it was explained how each character stands to represent a counterpart in the real
participants in the events involved with the bombing at Piazza Fontana, or the interrogation and death
of Pino Pinelli. I was informed by Jillian that the Inspector is based on a police officer named Luigi
Calabresi who was characterized by his casual wear and his nervous twitches. This helped me
understand why the Inspector was shown to exhibit these same traits in the play. My understanding of
Bertozzo s character was deepened when Jillian states that In Italy, the carabinieri, or the police force
was commonly picked on and joked about just as much as the police force of Britain. This answered
my question of why Bertozzo was always getting kicked and picked at; he represents an idiotic figure
who fits in the stereotype of the police force as a consistent object of satire and ridicule. The
Superintendent, presented by Hannah, was based on Marcella Guida, who was the head of the police
force in Milan. Without Hannah s information on Guida being the commandant for a prison camp in
Bosnia I wouldn t have known how Fo connects the two at the moment when the Maniac questions the
Superintendent s supposed activities in Bosnia. Hannah also mentioned that the Constables were based
on four real police constables involved in the case of

Finding Truth In Bernard Goldberg s Bias
There are so many conflicts in life and when people go to find the truth, the media is the first to be
looked at. People like to think that there is correct information from the media but in reality there isn t.
There was a book written by Bernard Goldberg called Bias where a CBS insider exposes how the
media distorts the news. This books lectures about how news networks need to get a reality check
since there is bias fed to the media. This happens when there are a large group of people who think
alike that use group thinking. These groups usually get filtered news that are not all so true. The news
is supposed to be where people get facts about what activities or events going on in the world.
Although stories can be changed when too many like minded people make the decisions on what an
audience or reader views. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also bias coming from the viewers of the new from the media. This was explained by Bernie
Goldberg, the writer of the book Bias in an interview when he stated that people only like to watch the
news based on their beliefs and only stick to what side to watch liberals watch liberal news and
conservatives watch conservative news. This shows that groups of people who watch the news want to
know what the people want to know. It is the reason why liberals watch liberal shows and
conservatives watch conservative shows. Back then the news didn t really give an option to views, it
was all straightforward. Nowadays people have more choices of what news programs people want to
see. Although it s too bad that people today don t share the same input. If a news network post
something that people want to hear then everyones loves it but once the news says straight facts, the
people tend to show hate to the news

Research Paper: Henry Ford
Imagine how life would be if our society did not have cars. Today, our society is dependent on cars for
our daily routines. From transporting our food, clothes, and technology to just going to the store across
the street, cars are a very important part of our society. In the 19th century, only the wealthy and upper
middle class had access to automobiles, and they only used cars for fancy transportation and to show
off their money. This was due to the extreme prices of cars in the 19th century. With these high prices
not many people could afford them, especially not the working class. Henry Ford revolutionized the
automotive industry in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had his workers work less, with more breaks, and he also payed them almost twice as much as
other jobs. As Eric Foner states, Ford paid the assembly line workers $5 a day when prevailing wages
were about $2.50...he also reduced working hours to 8. With this, workers were more likely to work
harder and better, which led to more productivity. The productivity was not done alone, the
infrastructure of the assembly line is very critical to the production process. This was done by, as
Robert Sobel states, ...conveyor belts in the assembly line that brought parts to the workers to perform
their specific task. All this improved the production rate and it satisfied the workers. Many may say
the assembly line removed individuality, however it brought faster, better, and cheaper production to
the Ford Motor Company.
With the success of the assembly line, Ford was very please however he had a bigger goal set. Ford
wanted to produce cheap cars for the common people to use. Ford made many different types of cars
and experimented with each of them. They were all good but not good enough. After many different
models, Ford achieved his goal with his invention of the Ford Model T. The Model T was a fully
functional compact automobile with a good transmission and torque as well as comfort and size. Apart
from that, the most important aspect of the Model T was that is was extremely cheap. As Sobel states,

Canterbury Tales Relationships
Relationships in The Canterbury Tales The Church during the Middle Ages was responsible for
generating a great deal of the anti feminist theology, which perpetuated the subjugation of women.
The Medieval Church taught that women were inferior to men and that they should be compliant and
obedient to their fathers and husbands. The Canterbury Tales give insight into the society of the time
including social structure, relationships among different genders and classes, and the cultural rules and
limits. By depicting the disproportionate relationship between men and women during the fourteenth
century, Chaucer confirms his beliefs of misogyny and the portrayal of women as passive objects.

Gender Inequality Of Equal Pay For Women
Introduction:
On January 29, 2016, The White House Press Office released a FACT SHEET on new steps to
advance equal pay for women. This FACT SHEET states that,
the median wage of a woman working full time all year in the United States is about $39,600 only 79
percent of a man s median earnings of $50,400 (The White House, 2016).
However, many scholars and economists disagree that a gender wage gap exists. In addition,
conservative political experts and bloggers promote the notion that gender based wage gap is an idea
propagated by feminists, women empowering organizations, and progressives. However, almost all the
working women in the United States, and organizations such as Institute for Women s Policy Research
(IRWP), and American Association of University Women (AAAU), strongly believe in the existence
of the gender wage gap.
This sociological issue of equal pay for women is extremely relevant in today s environment where
women perform equal work as men in many occupations. Furthermore, with almost 50% of the work
force being women, women contributing equally to the family income, and a large number of women
being the single parents supporting children, lack of equal pay over time could increase the poverty
rates for women (White House, 2016). In addition, IWPR s 2015 report on the status of American
women, states that if women receive equal pay for the same work, the poverty rate among women will
see a reduction from 8.2% to 4%, an almost 50% reduction (Hess et

professionalism should also be extended to the dress code of the coach. For the organization, the
selection process of the coaches should involve stringent quality criteria. Involvement of the coach:
The coach should have the ability to develop an atmosphere of trust in the coaching sessions. Coaches
need to ensure that they have an intrinsic strong motivation for the coaching work. In my opinion, a
genuine interest in the client is significant to building a good coaching relationship. For the
organizations, coaches should be made to attend an interview process prior to any coaching

whether a working relationship can develop. Clarity and goals: The process and conduct of a coaching

Ecological Systems Theory
Urie Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems Theory is made up of several systems that begin in one s
childhood and expand to bigger and better things through experience with adulthood. The first
systems, being the micro and mesosystems, that play a psychological role in our lives that help us

Differentiation of Cyclic Tertiary Amine Cathinone Derivatives by
Product Ion Electron Ionization Mass Spectrometry
Abstract
Rationale
A number of synthetic cathinones (aminoketones, ?bath salts?) are tertiary amines containing a cyclic
amino group, most commonly pyrrolidine. These totally synthetic compounds can be prepared in a
number of regioisomeric designer modification and many of these can yield isomeric major EI MS
fragment ions.
Methods
A series of regioisomeric cyclic tertiary amines were prepared and evaluated in EI MS and MS/MS
product ion experiments. The cyclic amines azetidine, pyrrolidine, piperidine and azepane were
incorporated into a series of aminoketones related to the cathinone derivative drug of abuse known as
MDPV. Deuterium labeling in both the cyclic amine and alkyl side chain allowed for the

The Effects Of Animal Testing On Human Society
The use of animal testing has been going on for a long time. Although there have been many cases
where people try to stop it or try to convince people that it is wrong in today s society it is still
happening all over the world. This research paper will talk about how in today s society is racing to
discover cures for diseases. How humans have made advancements in the world we have also
established the scientific evolution. By doing so our ethics and morals have failed to progress. The
knowledge that we gain throughout the years is remarkable but it is our responsibility to use it wisely
and ethically. We heartlessly torture and kill animals that we consider lesser beings. For something as
simple as eye makeup hundreds of animals are tortured and blinded by test that are being done to them
in laboratories where they are hardly being fed, often forced to live in filth, sometimes they even
remove their vocal cords to keep them quiet. We pour cosmetic products into their eye and body parts
to determine if it will have a harmful effect on humans. Animal s posses the same emotions and
feelings as humans and without any care they are subjected to pain. Mankind fails to give animals
respect they deserve, they are treated with lifeless. Something that needs to be changed.
Animal testing has been going on for centuries and it will probably continue that way if we don t share
the truth. Humans do not think that animals are on the same level as them so they treat them horribly

Summary Of Edward Morgan Forster sThe Machine Stops
As our society continues to develop, the advanced technology has changed people s lives in many
respects. When people enjoy the convenience of using touchpad during class, contacting a person who
lives a thousand miles away via FaceTime, and storing live data in the online cloud, there will be a
long term and serious consequences resulting from overuse of technology. About a century ago,
Edward Morgan Forster, in his short novel The Machine Stops, has already accurately predicted
human s future through presenting an image of how human s exponentially increasing dependence on
technology makes them weak, and ultimately decease. The story happens in the future where human
beings who has lost their ability to live on the surface of earth live in a subterranean cell, with all
physical, intellectual, and spiritual needs met by the Machine. With the Machine, people believe they
live in a perfect world. All of the people believe they live in a perfect world, except Kuno, who finds
the flaw that can destroy the society. Kuno s concern is treated as madness by his mother Vashti.
Forster s theme concerns envisioning the earth in the future when the use of technology is at its climax
and every sphere of life is dependent on it. He exploits his idea by illustrating that the development of
the sophisticated technology will ultimately control human beings and annihilate their ability to think
critically and live independently, making them treat the Machine like a god. Therefore, through

William Butler Yeats Research Paper
Yeats Irish Identity shaped poetry, mythology and history, other Irish writers, folktales, Irish Theatre.
Many people say that William Butler Yeats was the greatest poem writer from the 20th century but to
him he was just an ordinary person that had a love for writing poems. William Butler Yeats was born
on 13 June 1865 in County Dublin, Ireland to John Butler Yeats, a lawyer turned portrait painter and
Susan Mary Pollexfen, daughter of a wealthy family from county Sligo Yeats s mother shared with her
son her interests in folklore, fairies, and astrology as well as her love of Ireland, particularly the region
surrounding Sligo in western Ireland where Yeats spent much of his childhood. He had a brother
named Jack and two sisters, namely, Elizabeth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yeats works drew heavily on Irish mythology and history, he never fully embraced his Protestant past
nor joined the majority or Ireland Roman Catholics but he devoted much of his life to the study in
myriad other subjects. The Irish writer s James O Grady and Sir William Ferguson were the most
influential. Through his writing Yeats found his voice to speak up against the harsh nationalist policies
of the time, his early dramatic works conveyed his respect for Irish legend and fascination with occult.
Yeats mother was the first introduce him and his sisters to the Irish folktales he grew to love so much
but little did you know that his brother jack and father was also an accomplished artist and they both
helped William in his writing and it s the reason he found his own interest in the wonderful arts as he
called them. In 1894 Yeats met friend and patron Lady Augusta Gregory and thus began their
involvement with The Irish Literary Theatre which was founded in 1899 in Dublin. Along with
literature, he also loved the theater and wrote several plays. He collaborated with the likes of Lady
Gregory, Edward Martyn and George Moore to establish the Irish Literary Theatre for the purpose of
performing Irish and Celtic plays. As a dramatist, his successful works included The Countess

Ambiguity In The Secret Sharer
On Joseph Conrad s the Secret Sharer Joseph Conrad s the Secret Sharer , is one of the most widely
read and critically acclaimed work s of Conrad. The reason of this success is its peculiar ambiguity.
This story is narrated in the first person, and with the use of this method, the reader is constantly kept
in the consciousness of the nameless narrator and remain there for the entire of the story which makes
it the reader s responsibility and at the same time gives the freedom to the reader to delve deep, and
figure out the meaning of the story. The ambiguity of this story is built around Leggatt, a fugitive who

United Way Of El Paso
United Way is a non profit organization that helps improve the livelihood in local communities. I have
been fortunate enough to see the impact United has provided from community donations and its
funded agencies in El Paso. Hegel developed the Systems Theory in the 18th century and the best way
to describe the organizations audience is in comparison to the organizations structure and function.
University of Twente (2016) believes communication occurs among interdependent units that work
together to adapt to an ever changing environment. United Way of El Paso County strives address
issues in areas of education, homelessness, and economical stability. I will talk about how the
organization addresses these issues to their donors, agencies, and the families they support. The
organizations objective is to target multiple audiences and the programs structure is important to
separate the different groups they support. The United Way is a non profit organization that has a team
that works hard to find donors for the list of agencies they support. Typically a non profit organization
choses agencies that get little to no help from the local government. United Way (2016) This is
accomplished by achieving measurable results through strategies that focus on community systems
and resources and by focusing on funding programs that achieve outcomes in three select impact
areas: Education, Basic Needs, and Income. In most cases United Way reaches out to local businesses

Women s Rights In A Thousand Splendid Suns
It is beyond belief that a person could ever be deprived of their own sexuality, but in A Thousand
Splendid Suns, Hosseini constructs the differences between men s and women s sexuality to highlight
this exact social injustice in Afghanistan. His depiction of women s issues proves that as the years go
by, there is still so much room for improvement regarding domestic violence, rape, unequal
opportunities, and more. Throughout the novel, the justifications that preserve these problems can be
tied back to the same ideas in the United States and around the world. Khaled Hosseini demonstrates
women s restrictions and men s freedoms regarding sexuality through the conflict Mariam and Laila

One example of this is Rasheed using this idea as justification for raping a 15 year old girl. After
consummating their marriage, he says, There is no shame in this, Mariam, [...]. It s what people do. It
s what the prophet himself and his wives did. There is no shame. Rasheed uses religion as a base for
his excuse, displaying the depth of men will be men. The concept is deeply rooted in Afghan society,
and even further so by stretching the actions of Muslim religious figures into excuses for rape.
Although it is true that there is no shame in sexual intercourse, there is definitely shame in the sexual
assault of a teenager. His inability to differentiate between the two demonstrate society s lack of
concern for consent, as well. Mariam becomes a rape victim, but it is clear she is also a victim of
socialization. Because she has been told over and over again that men are different than women, she
believes this herself. She excuses Rasheed for owning pornography by thinking, Could she fault him
for being the way God created him (Hosseini 83) ? Similarly to Rasheed, Mariam uses religion to
justify her spouse s dishonesty. She has been taught to believe that men are the way they are because
they cannot help it, that in opposing his actions she is opposing how God has built him. Members of
this society, even women, are socialized to believe men are

Essay about Dark Dublin
Dark Dublin James Joyce s, Dubliners is made up of short stories that depict the lives of people in
Dublin during the early 1900 s. At this point in history, Ireland was going through a time of distress.
The author writes about this time through his stories and characters in the stories Counterparts, Ivy
Day in the Committee Room, and The Dead. In these three accounts, Joyce uses the individuals to
demonstrate the society of Ireland at this time. He does this using the specific theme of lightness and
dark. Joyce connects the humanity based theme of individual and society to the literary theme of light
and dark through stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Farrington gets home one night, he tells his son to light the lamp (93), and asks him: What do
you mean by having the place in darkness? (93) He also yells at his son when he realized that the boy
let the fire out (94). Counterparts displays many examples of the literary theme of light and dark.
The character Farrington in Counterparts, is an example of an individual in Dublin who represents the
society of Ireland. Farrington displays behaviors of a non functional alcoholic. We know this because
of the evidence that he can not get through the day without his alcohol fix: He felt that he must slake
the thirst in his throat (84). Farrington represents Ireland in this story because they both are going
through rough times; both Farrington and Ireland are going through a depression. Both the individual
and the society are represented here. The Irish society feels inferior because they were ruled by
England, just as Farrington feels inferior to his boss, Mr. Alleyne. Mr Alleyne began a tirade of abuse,
saying that two letters were missing (87). Also, at the bar, Farrington is defeated by a mere boy (93)
named Whethers. These two characters represent England s domination toward Ireland, and Farrington
represents Ireland during the early 1900 s.
The short story Ivy Day in the Committee Room, from Dubliners, has many references to light, which
represents the society of Ireland. These come from the many

Value Of Education In The United States
An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin lived in the eighteen century. He attended but did not graduate from the Boston
Latin School. However, Franklin was a very educated man. Franklin continued educating himself,
after withdrawing from the Boston Latin school, through other means such as reading. Nevertheless,
Franklin acknowledges the importance of education. Today, the value of education is often preached.
However, many of the United States` policies do not reflect on the so called importance of education.
For example, The United States spends 20% on Wars and only 3% on education. This tells us that the
United States do not care as much about education as we do about the wars. With such a low
investment in education, the United States has fallen behind in terms of education. However, there are
signs everywhere that the United States needs to invest more in education. For example, one was
considered an educated man if he graduated high school in the 1960`s. Thus, many viewed two and
four year universities as luxuries. Fast forward fifty years later, even careers that are entry level jobs

people graduate from public universities in debt. Entering a very uncertain workforce and in debt,
many people find themselves settling for jobs where they are overqualified just to survive. Thus, they
take low paying jobs that will never allow them to pay back their loans and live a better life. To give
everyone equal opportunity for economic advancement, I suggest making public universities free for

Post Learning Sleep Improves Cognitive Emotional Decision...
Have you ever been told to sleep on it when confronted with a serious decision? The study done by
Seeley, C. J., Beninger, R. J., Smith, C. T. titled Post Learning Sleep Improves Cognitive Emotional
Decision Making: Evidence for a Deck B Sleep Effect in the Iowa Gambling Task sets out to answer if
sleeping helps improve decision making. For this study, they used the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT) on
participants. After the IGT, participants had 12 hours of being awake, 12 hours of sleep, or 12 hours of
sleep followed by 12 hours of being awake before taking the IGT again. This experiment is important
because it would show if we make better decisions after sleeping on it. For important decisions, such
as laws, business decisions, and even jury decisions, we want the best results, and sleeping on these
decisions may provide better results. The main questions the researchers tried to answer were when
starting out do people choose the deck with a more constant chance of winning, when learning more
about the game do people change their choices, and does sleeping after the first session improve the
participant s performance in the next session. Their hypothesis, based on their previous experiments,
was that initially more participants would choose from decks B and D, but after they learn more about
the game they will start to choose more cards from decks C and D. They also hypothesized that
sleeping after learning about the game would improve their results for the next

Estella Havisham Thesis
Charles Dickens takes readers on a long voyage through love, hate, mysteries, tragedies, confusion,
and displeasure with his masterful novel, Great Expectations. The life of Philip Pirrip is broken down
through the book starting with his early ages until his adult life. From the first meeting with his
convict in the marshes to the reunion with his longtime lover, Pip continues to grow in education and
in relationships. While taking one step at a time into his great expectations, he encounters a young

Once Pip wins, Estella gives him the ability to kiss her on the cheek. He does so, leaving him affected
for the rest of his life. Now in the process of becoming a gentleman, Pip claims that Estella was the
inspiration for everything he has done in the past and talks about his love for her. The unqualified truth
is that, when I loved Estella with the love of a man, I loved her simply because I found her irresistible.
(Dickens 214). When Pip heard Estella was back at the Satis House from a trip to Paris, he went to see
her and Miss. Havisham. In Miss. Havisham s room, he saw a woman that he realized was Estella. He
said that she was a very beautiful lady and developed very well. On a walk through the garden, Pip
tried to recall the moments they had together to Estella but unfortunately she didn t remember. She
then confessed to Pip, That I have no heart if that has anything to do with my memory...I have no
softness there, no sympathy sentiment nonsense. (Dickens 219). That should have been an alarm for
Pip to show that Estella was unable to be loved, unable to love. Estella is telling Pip that she will
never love him or anyone. Nonetheless, because he found her desirable, he was blinded by his love for
her. I got through some jargon to the effect that I took the liberty of doubting that. That I knew better.
That there could be no such beauty without it. (Dickens

The Boy Who Cried Wolf By B. G. Hennessy

about this called The Boy Who Cried Wolf by B.G. Hennessy where we learn that liars are never

It was an ordinary weekend. I woke up Saturday morning and went to work. After work I could go
home and do anything I felt like doing. Around 8 my friend Carlos texted me and asked if I wanted to

  • 2. Moon Conspiracy We did land on the moon There are many people who believed that we did land on the moon, but then there are many others who do not believe we landed on the moon. There are many points that they try to prove to say that we did not land on the moon such as the flag movement, no stars, and that the shadows were messed up. There are many ways to prove them wrong with the proof they have that we landed on the moon. Conspiracy theorists have pointed out that we did not land on the moon with many points such as the flag was moving. According to Josh Fox, one of several authors from Listverse, Photos of the landing also seem to show rippling in a breeze, which clearly shows a fold in the flag. The obvious problem here is that there s no air ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Josh Fox, one of several authors from Listverse, The moon landing hoax is the total lack of stars in any of the photographic/video evidence. There are no clouds on the moon, so stars are perpetually visible and significantly brighter than what we see through the filter of Earth s atmosphere (Moon landings could be a hoax). According to Erin Ruberry, Washington, D.C. based writer and editor specializing in digital media, The reason that the stars do not show up on the film is that the stars are so dim that the camera cannot gather enough of their light in a short exposure. Our eyes are a lot more sensitive to light than photographic film (Reason for no stars). Another reason from Brent Sibly, author from def logic.com/cached source, The moon is a very bright whitish object, which reflects the light from the sun as brightly as snow. Since the astronauts were constantly surrounded by the bright reflecting surface of the moon, they were always brightly lit (We went to the moon). The mythbusters proved that the astronauts and camera did not pick the stars by making similar dust to the moon and shined light on the dust and it reflected brightly and the brighter the moon is the harder it is to see the moon. And like what Erin Ruberry said the photographic lense could not pick up the stars from them being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Personal Narrative-The Tower Of Terror It was around 5 in the afternoon. The air was crisp, we sat on a bench in front of a contraption full of screaming children and blaring calliope music. The sight of all the lights around me was overwhelming, I had to squint to prevent myself from going insane. Something about it was enjoyable, in its own twisted way. Along the streets beside us we saw giant mice marching around and being followed by hoards of tiny humans. All of the aspects this estate had in store were beautifully put together. I had spent hours wandering around the vast lands of Disney with my brethren beside me. We had gone through all of its obstacles. All of its obstacles but one. The tallest spectacle of them all. A towering attraction known to induce horror inside of anyone who dares to enter its grasp. It is widely known among the public, but only few are fearless enough are fearless enough to face the dangers of: The Tower of Terror. My company was exhausted. Having been awakened in the wee hours of morning took a toll on everyone involved. We had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I sauntered down Main Street U.S.A, greeting the gentle giants that walked my way and maneuvering through the dense crowds of people. Eventually I made it out the border belonging the Land of Disney and got to the gates leading to California s Adventure, that also happened to be owned by Disney. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by an American soldier clad in blue protective gear, wielding a silver and rouge shield with a star in the middle. I took this as an omen that would protect me on the rest of my journey. I could now see the tower clearly. I was less than half a mile away. I trudged on, until I finally made it to my destination. There it stood, the ginormous building greeted me with its cold arms with the help of a man attired with clothes that resembled those of a bellhop. The man asked how many people were in my party, to which I gallantly responded with a single ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Esperanza Rising Analysis In this excerpt from Esperanza Rising called Asparagus the character Esperanza thinks negatively of the American Dream, the thought that America has fairness, and opportunity for everyone. I agree with Esperanza. People may think that America is the land of opportunity, but not everyone gets it. In America opportunities are not given equal, and these unequal opportunities reflects biased. In Asparagus Esperanza realizes that not everyone has equal opportunities. Some have better opportunities than others. Miguel usually works on train engines, but as Miguel explains one day, A group of men showed up from Oklahoma. . . • 5. A Report On Healthsouth Used Bad Debt Reserves Essay whatsoever. Moreover, the amount of the accounts written off in any given year did not correlate with the allowance established for them. To the extent that these disclosures were reliable, these data indicate that HealthSouth used bad debt reserves to manipulate earnings. This lack of correlation could be an indirect indicator of the fourth warning sign of abusive earnings management: reserves that are not correlated with balance sheet items. Consider two related items related to uncollectible accounts, to further understand possible earnings management. First, there were disproportionately large allowance for doubtful accounts balances at the end of 1994 and 1995: nearly 40% of gross receivables. These existing balances could have been drawn down without the need to record an accurate provision for doubtful accounts. Consequently, the year end charge to bad expense, required to replenish the depleted contra asset account, could have been less than normally expected if the unadjusted allowance balance jibed with economic reality. By understating expenses in this manner, HealthSouth could have manufactured earnings beginning in the mid 1990s. These data provide some evidence of the classic cookie jar reserve ploy (Reed et al, 2003). The related issue is the amount of bad debt expense matched against revenues in 1999. As noted, that unusually large charge to earnings was made at the time when it became publicly known that HealthSouth could no longer hit its earnings target. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The shooting of Deborah Danner; mentally ill 66 year old women shot down due to having a baseball bat in hand. The past shooting of Amadou Diallo; 23 year old African American man shot 44 times for a misunderstanding of a wallet in his hand. Circumstances such as these cases repeat time and time again. • 8. The Effects Of Media On The Media Influences Viewers Racial Bias in the Media Influences Viewers Television reaches more consumers for more time than any other source of media. Its use for entertainment or news is overly influential, persuasive, and authoritative. Through these characteristics, any type of information or message influences its massive audience. Because of this, what Americans see or fail to see has a powerful impact on how they view other races. Young children are especially vulnerable to the information they are exposed to. TV is a vehicle to provide experiences and information not otherwise available to them. Older audiences, however, are also vulnerable to the information. Consistent messages about traits and stereotypes of other races reinforce specific ideas to the adult viewer. Viewers aren t limited to racial bias when other races are on the screen, but are also susceptible when races aren t included. As a strong and influential tool, television uses both obvious and subtle racial bias to influence its viewers. Television is a strong and influential tool. To first understand why television has a strong influence on its viewer s, it is important to know some basic facts. According to Nielsen s National Television Household Universe Estimates, there are 116.4 million TV homes in the U.S. prior to the start of the 2014 15 TV season. The number of persons age 2 and older in U.S. TV Households is estimated to be 296 million (Nielsen, 2014). This stat shows the enormous audience that TV and its messages ... They all have an identical curriculum and are set up to proceed one type of mind that processes information in one way. Thus, high stakes testing pressures students to improve their performance. Lisa Collier states, ... So many Michigan students stayed home when their assessment tests were given last year that several high schools were threatened with loss of accreditation. In Illinois, 200 students expressed their scorn for the state s exam by showing up and deliberately giving the wrong answers. Critics feel the students are being turned off to learning because they re being force fed the dry facts and figures needed to excel on high stakes tests... The school is more about testing now, and we have turned away from creative teaching to teach a test and have unmotivated the students to achieve success. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At my high school, all students from 9 through 12 grade levels were required to take the Regents exam authorized by the state of New York. If students did not pass the Regents exam in June, their first time, and were forced to go to summer school and take the Regents again, and if they did not pass the test again they were held back a grade or they did not graduate with their class. Thus, it is hard to test students in this way since no one was taught the same way all 12 years or learned the same exact things. That s not all, before taking the Regent exam in June, we had 4 district assessments each quarter. Higher amounts of testing will end up frustrating the students and they will feel tired when taking state tests. In Like Water for Chocolate Tita had a fear towards her mother. Many characters in the book found Mama frightening or intimidating. The family was forced into a fearful obedience such as when the La Garza family is making their Christmas rolls they are not allowed to stop until Mama Elena stated That s it for today. once that statement is said no one dares question her or says anything else they all begin cleaning up. (ch 1;10) Mama Elena unconsciously instilled fear into Pedro because when he gave roses to Tita in a way to sooth her over the death of Nacha. But Rosaura, Tita s older sister and wife of Pedro, say this she burst into tears causing Mama Elena to give him a look that sent Tita and Pedro walking away.(ch 3;48) Mama Elena hold over people around her was based of the instinct of fear. Rennie Harris Research Paper Uduak Ubom Dance 2303 Professor Shani Sterling May 30, 2018 PUREMOVEMENT BY RENNIE HARRIS Rennie Harris was born on January 28, 1964 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rennie was raised in an African American community, Rennie Harris was inspired by Don Campbell Lockers after seeing them on the popular TV show called Soul Train . He started dancing socially as a kid but when Rennie turned 12 years he officially started a dance group called Cobra III with his brother and childhood friend nicknamed Brainy . Harris was able to take street dance and put it on the stage. The hip hop dancers were trained and they delivered the dance professionally. The design of the dance was magical, there was concentration, cooperation, communication and creativity. The dancers maintained the rhythm and the shape of the body was shown by the body and the way it made use of time and space. They costumes being a key component in the moves matched the description of the dance and this made the choreographer s idea successful. • 12. Cons Of Book Censorship Book censorship tries to shelter us from certain books that carry messages that are known as controversial, but this promotes cleansing children from the harsh reality that we live in today. Censorship is the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, and news. That are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Book censorship has taken many great works of literature away from us due to topics that may concern parents or school boards. These topics include racism, sexual jokes or references, and many other messages that have a negative image in the eyes of parents and schools. While some see book banning as an attack on their favorite book or just to literature in general, others, mostly parents and schools, see censorship as the best way of defending their children from the harsh reality that we live in today. Although some see book banning as a strong attack against important history in literature, others, especially parents, see book banning as protection from the cruel history our country has had. These inappropriate books could also affect a child s view on the world. The biggest culprit of this scenario is racism, which is the one reasoning for the banning of To Kill a Mockingbird and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. • 13. The Death Of An Anarchist Essay Characters in Accidental Death of an Anarchist My understanding of the characters in The Accidental Death of an Anarchist was deepened through the presentation when it was explained how each character stands to represent a counterpart in the real participants in the events involved with the bombing at Piazza Fontana, or the interrogation and death of Pino Pinelli. I was informed by Jillian that the Inspector is based on a police officer named Luigi Calabresi who was characterized by his casual wear and his nervous twitches. This helped me understand why the Inspector was shown to exhibit these same traits in the play. My understanding of Bertozzo s character was deepened when Jillian states that In Italy, the carabinieri, or the police force was commonly picked on and joked about just as much as the police force of Britain. This answered my question of why Bertozzo was always getting kicked and picked at; he represents an idiotic figure who fits in the stereotype of the police force as a consistent object of satire and ridicule. The Superintendent, presented by Hannah, was based on Marcella Guida, who was the head of the police force in Milan. Without Hannah s information on Guida being the commandant for a prison camp in Bosnia I wouldn t have known how Fo connects the two at the moment when the Maniac questions the Superintendent s supposed activities in Bosnia. People like to think that there is correct information from the media but in reality there isn t. There was a book written by Bernard Goldberg called Bias where a CBS insider exposes how the media distorts the news. This books lectures about how news networks need to get a reality check since there is bias fed to the media. This happens when there are a large group of people who think alike that use group thinking. These groups usually get filtered news that are not all so true. This shows that groups of people who watch the news want to know what the people want to know. It is the reason why liberals watch liberal shows and conservatives watch conservative shows. Today, our society is dependent on cars for our daily routines. From transporting our food, clothes, and technology to just going to the store across the street, cars are a very important part of our society. In the 19th century, only the wealthy and upper middle class had access to automobiles, and they only used cars for fancy transportation and to show off their money. This was due to the extreme prices of cars in the 19th century. With these high prices not many people could afford them, especially not the working class. With this, workers were more likely to work harder and better, which led to more productivity. The productivity was not done alone, the infrastructure of the assembly line is very critical to the production process. This was done by, as Robert Sobel states, ...conveyor belts in the assembly line that brought parts to the workers to perform their specific task. All this improved the production rate and it satisfied the workers. Many may say the assembly line removed individuality, however it brought faster, better, and cheaper production to the Ford Motor Company. With the success of the assembly line, Ford was very please however he had a bigger goal set. Ford wanted to produce cheap cars for the common people to use. Ford made many different types of cars and experimented with each of them. They were all good but not good enough. After many different models, Ford achieved his goal with his invention of the Ford Model T. The Canterbury Tales give insight into the society of the time including social structure, relationships among different genders and classes, and the cultural rules and limits. • 18. Gender Inequality Of Equal Pay For Women Introduction: On January 29, 2016, The White House Press Office released a FACT SHEET on new steps to advance equal pay for women. This FACT SHEET states that, the median wage of a woman working full time all year in the United States is about $39,600 only 79 percent of a man s median earnings of $50,400 (The White House, 2016). However, many scholars and economists disagree that a gender wage gap exists. In addition, conservative political experts and bloggers promote the notion that gender based wage gap is an idea propagated by feminists, women empowering organizations, and progressives. However, almost all the working women in the United States, and organizations such as Institute for Women s Policy Research (IRWP), and American Association of University Women (AAAU), strongly believe in the existence of the gender wage gap. This sociological issue of equal pay for women is extremely relevant in today s environment where women perform equal work as men in many occupations. Furthermore, with almost 50% of the work force being women, women contributing equally to the family income, and a large number of women being the single parents supporting children, lack of equal pay over time could increase the poverty rates for women (White House, 2016). In addition, IWPR s 2015 report on the status of American women, states that if women receive equal pay for the same work, the poverty rate among women will see a reduction from 8.2% to 4%, an almost 50% reduction (Hess et ... This research paper will talk about how in today s society is racing to discover cures for diseases. How humans have made advancements in the world we have also established the scientific evolution. By doing so our ethics and morals have failed to progress. The knowledge that we gain throughout the years is remarkable but it is our responsibility to use it wisely and ethically. For something as simple as eye makeup hundreds of animals are tortured and blinded by test that are being done to them in laboratories where they are hardly being fed, often forced to live in filth, sometimes they even remove their vocal cords to keep them quiet. We pour cosmetic products into their eye and body parts to determine if it will have a harmful effect on humans. Animal s posses the same emotions and feelings as humans and without any care they are subjected to pain. Mankind fails to give animals respect they deserve, they are treated with lifeless. When people enjoy the convenience of using touchpad during class, contacting a person who lives a thousand miles away via FaceTime, and storing live data in the online cloud, there will be a long term and serious consequences resulting from overuse of technology. About a century ago, Edward Morgan Forster, in his short novel The Machine Stops, has already accurately predicted human s future through presenting an image of how human s exponentially increasing dependence on technology makes them weak, and ultimately decease. The story happens in the future where human beings who has lost their ability to live on the surface of earth live in a subterranean cell, with all physical, intellectual, and spiritual needs met by the Machine. With the Machine, people believe they live in a perfect world. All of the people believe they live in a perfect world, except Kuno, who finds the flaw that can destroy the society. Kuno s concern is treated as madness by his mother Vashti. Forster s theme concerns envisioning the earth in the future when the use of technology is at its climax and every sphere of life is dependent on it. He exploits his idea by illustrating that the development of the sophisticated technology will ultimately control human beings and annihilate their ability to think critically and live independently, making them treat the Machine like a god. The character Farrington in Counterparts, is an example of an individual in Dublin who represents the society of Ireland. Farrington displays behaviors of a non functional alcoholic. The main questions the researchers tried to answer were when starting out do people choose the deck with a more constant chance of winning, when learning more about the game do people change their choices, and does sleeping after the first session improve the participant s performance in the next session. Their hypothesis, based on their previous experiments, was that initially more participants would choose from decks B and D, but after they learn more about the game they will start to choose more cards from decks C and D. The unqualified truth is that, when I loved Estella with the love of a man, I loved her simply because I found her irresistible. (Dickens 214). When Pip heard Estella was back at the Satis House from a trip to Paris, he went to see her and Miss. Havisham. In Miss. Havisham s room, he saw a woman that he realized was Estella. That there could be no such beauty without it. (Dickens ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
