Speech Steve Jobs Speech
At Stanford s 2005 graduation Steve Jobs spoke to some of the brightest young men and women in
the country. Stanford s graduating class of 2005 heard an inspiring and compelling speech split into
three stories from Steve Jobs life. Steve Jobs used metaphors, repetition, and antithesis creating an
inspiring and compelling argument to never give up on finding and doing what you love.
Steve Jobs split his speech into three stories. The first one was about connecting the dots. The
whole story is a metaphor having dots stand in as actions that you have done and will do. He
also points to how it is impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But
it was very, very clear looking backward 10 years later. This is elaborating on the previous
metaphor. This states that the actions, dots or in Steve Jobs s case the typography class, at the
time seemed to have no clear purpose. However, later on, you can see how it connects to
something else that you have or will do.In Steve Jobs case, the typography class lead to the
Macintosh having different fonts. In his second story he, talked about love and loss, explaining
what happened when his own company, Apple, fired him, only to have it help in. It was awful
tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. In this metaphor, he has medicine standing in as
being fired from Apple, the awful tasting being how it felt, and him needing it because it helped
him. He followed up that metaphor with another one,

The Challenger Disaster
The Challenger disaster was not only a disaster in terms of the destruction of the spacecraft and the
death of its crew but also in terms of the decision making process that led to the launch and in terms
of the subsequent investigation into the quot;causes quot; of the disaster. The decision to
recommend for launch was made by lower level management officials over the objections of
technical experts who opposed the launch under the environmental conditions that existed on the
launch pad at the time. Furthermore, the lower level managers who made this decision both NASA
and contractor personnel chose not to report the objections of the technical experts in their
recommendations to higher levels in the management chain of command to... Show more content on

A more appropriate ethical analysis would seek to understand the ways in which the decision
making process itself fostered or hindered responsibility among individuals within the organization
and of the organization itself. In this respect, when viewed as a problem of responsibility, the
Challenger disaster presents a much more insightful lesson on the nature of decision making in a
large organization such as NASA. While it seems clear that the decision that led to the explosion of
the Challenger was made by those lower level managers who chose to ignore the objections of
technical experts who opposed the launch, the subsequent investigation revealed how the decision
making processes within NASA (and it contractors) worked to limit the agency of decision makers
and to obscure accountability for their decision making. The problem of responsibility in the
decision making process focuses upon three issues: the availability of information, the role of
technical specifications and formal regulations, and the management chain of command. Each of
these factors contributed to the exercise of poor judgment and to the obscuring of accountability in
the decision making process. The availability of information more precisely the lack of information
had an impact upon the decision making process in three different ways. The technical experts who
recommended against launching were not aware of the nature of the

Animal Rights For Animals
George Bernard Shaw once said, the worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them,
but to be indifferent to them: that s the essence of inhumanity. The issue of giving animals rights
has dated back to the ancient Greek in Romans. They believed that people who died who be
reborn in a new life as an animal. This issue has date since sixth century B.C.E until now. As of
now the biggest controversy was the seaworld case involving their interaction with the orcas that
had been the stars of their park. There were many other cases and the issue soon began to escalate
as the number of injuries and occasional deaths increased. Once the problems go to court a decision
of removing the exhibit was the best way to decrease injury by no longer creating contact with the
animals. The United Statesshould create a set of rightsfor animals in the entertainment industry in
order to give those animals proper treatment. The film documentary Blackfish discusses the issues
with Seaworld s orca exhibit and they expose all the problems and issues that orca s experience
after the show. During the documentary multiple trainers and seaworld employees who captured
the orcas for the shows came to a realization. This is a multi billion dollar corporation that makes
its money through the exploitation of Orcas. The cruelty in their methods of capturing showed in
the whales and how they were separated from their real families and would release the anger on
trainers. All the orcas had to

Stress And The Human Brain
When we encounter a threat that we feel we do not have the resources to deal with, a stimulus
known as stressors are released and as a result, makes us stressed. These stressors activate the
stress response system which sends a cascade of biological events thus releasing the stress
hormones known as adrenaline and cortisol. The hormones cause our body to go into a Flight or
Fight mode and can affect us either positively or negatively. By going into flight or fight mode our
blood pressure, breathing, and heart rate increases meanwhile there is a decrease in digestive
activity and the liver produces more glucose for energy. The topic of stressis a very popular area of
study for those interested in human sciences. In particular, stress is often viewed through the
scopes of a Psychologist, Sociologist and an Anthropologist.
The Psychologist s perspective revolves around relations between stress and the human brain. One
of the questions they might ask would be if an individual can be born with stress. The answer is
sometimes but not often. Researches at the University of Edinburgh found that mother s wombs
and babies brains contain a chemical protecting them from a mother s stress. However, if this
chemical is unavailable, then the mothers are potentially exposing their unborn babies to stress.
The study also discovered that the babies exposed to stress in the womb tend to be more
susceptible to anxiety and depression. A psychologist may also be interested in studying

Analysis Of The Poem The Of Mendoza Utilises Onofre...
It is fair to say that Mendoza utilises Onofre Bouvila as a character to be portrayed as a direct
parallel to the development and aspirations of Barcelona. This is expressed in the novel, since; it
is irrelevant how rich and powerful Onofre becomes. This is due to the fact that, he can never be
on the top table of the social ladder literally and figuratively, due to his impoverished upbringing
and working class background. corriГі hacia la mesa presidencial... Al llegar a la mesa advirtiГі que

Therefore, one can surmise that Barcelona will never be able to consider it as the most significant
and influential city in Spain. This is mainly due to the fact that, it has the smaller population and is
not the capital city.
This is further illustrated with Onofre at the end of the book. When Onofre disappears on his
flying machine it is Mendoza s method to demonstrate to the reader that Onofre has given up on
his aspiration of achieving the highest echelons of the social ladder in Spain. This could be
Mendoza s intention to show that Barcelona s aspiration to escape the suppression by the hands of
Madrid is dissipating. Los que alertados por el ruido de los motores habГan salido a los balcones o
habГan subido a los terrados vieron cГіmo la mГЎquina voladora desviaba sur umbo hacia el mar,
como si la empujara un viento repentino de poniente. This shows us that Mendoza is trying to tell
the reader that what happened to Onofre is not important to us. This could be a criticism by
Mendoza, about the vociferous nature of which Barcelona and Catalonia attempt to gain
independence from Spain. He achieves this denigration by displaying Catalonia s cries for
independence as falling on deaf ears. Hence Mendoza uses the character of Onofre to express his
point of view that the objectives Catalonia

Jet Fuel Insurance Essay
Chapter 1: Introduction In the United States, biodiesel and biofuel production have increased
dramatically in recent years due to environmental issues from excessive petroleum usages. The
world is now severely depended on oil for many purposes: powering cars, airplanes, farm
vehicles, irrigation pumps, etc. It also plays a significant role as raw material for making many
products like chemical products, medicines, and fabrics. In the USA, it is becoming more
accessible to lessen the dependency on foreign oil. The second highest expense for airlines is
the cost of jet fuel. Any increase in oil prices effects huge amount on the airlines costs and
maintenances. The global demand for aviation fuel is above 40 billion gallons per year which
influenced researchers to explore high quality but low cost feedstocks to produce aviation
standard fuel (Oil Price.Com, 2011). Therefore, the key concern of commercial aviation is to find
reliable fuel alternatives to cut costs, and reduce volatility of fuel supply and carbon emissions. In
recent years, usage of bio jet fuel has got considerable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and limitations in operating in India. Each has their own dedicated target market. Few of them
only work in rural sector while others in both rural as well as urban. Many even are only catering in
cities. Some are of Indian origin and some are foreign players.

Type of Evidence Collected: I collected a fingerprint that was lying on the handle of the door
leading to the backyard that was the main point of interest during the investigation after receiving
the lead from John Couey.
Method used: I used my latent fingerprint dusting powder in order to bring the print to a visible
state to the naked eye and then I used my tape I had to gain a copy of the print off the handle. I
then took the evidence to my forensic vehicle in order to keep it secure for further examination.
Searching for: I collected this evidence and examined it to look for the possible fingerprint of John
Couey which would give us a direct tie to him being at that house.
Summary: This fingerprint was collected at the home where Jessica Lunsford s body was located
by the Citrus County Police at which point I photographed, lifted and collected the print, and
secured it in my vehicle. After I further examined it, I gave it to the officers for them to be able to
use it in the upcoming case as evidence.

Gun Violence Policy
According to the lecture on Gun Violence, there are currently over 300 million guns in the
possession of private citizen. Americans have over 75 guns per 100 people, whereas other
western countries range from 5 to 30 guns per 100 people (2007 small arms survey). Gun violence
is a major issue in the United Statesdue to lack of guncontrol. The lack of gun control makes
handguns too readily available to citizens, allows those who should not own a firearmthe ability to
purchase firearms, and no policy on secure storage of firearms. As a result, I conclude that a
combination of restriction of private ownership of handguns and stricter background check and
storage policy would eliminate some of the violence caused by guns. To decrease gun violence

Relationship Between Relationships And Family Structures
Relationships can either be monogamous or non monogamous in nature and its definitions and
functions can vary. A monogamous relationship is traditionally characterised by two individuals
who have dependent children or also as a nuclear family. Monogamy is a hetero normative practice
that involves two individuals in a relationship; the couple is not engaged in extramarital intimacy.
Nuclear families also fall under this practice. Polyamoryis a non monogamous practice that refers to
multiple intimate partners and experiences. However, some scholars argue that if, or when one
individual engages in infidelity, Polyamory is a viable option to sustain the relationship. Academic
research positions Polyamory as an option that may successfully... Show more content on

underpins marriage in many Western and some non Western countries. Scholars have continued to
argue the success of monogamous relationships. Harville Hendrix (1990) explains that monogamy
is a healing practice. Partners in monogamous relationships go through many stages and struggles as
a committed couple. Through struggle, partners act as healers that help to work through each other
s suffering (Hendrix 1990). Hendrix (1990) believes individuals choose their partners to work
through the pain together and help them grow through life. Monogamous marriage is a spiritual
path to happiness and commitment between two individuals (Hendrix 1990). A committed
relationship requires monogamy, and Hendrix (1990) contends that healthy and spiritual
commitments encourage the sustainability of monogamous relationships. Although Hendrix (1990)
contends that monogamy is an effective practice, research has largely built a case around the
consequences of monogamous relationships.
Debates have circled around the experiences within nuclear families and monogamous
relationships, and Stelbourn (1999) proclaims it is a largely patriarchal practice. Stelbourn (1999)
uses Engel s work during the eighteenth century, to explain the still existent contemporary debate
around the consequences of monogamy. The work of Friedrich Engels (Stelbourn 1999) focused
on the division between mothers as housewives, and fathers as workers in nuclear families. Women
were reduced in power and

Evaluation Of A Interview Or Interrogation
Interviews and interrogations are similar in that the officer must establish a relationship with
individuals and ask good questions in a planned out and controlled surrounding or semi controlled
setting while carefully listening and documenting the statements. Interviews are conducted to
gather information from individuals who may have detailed information that can further the case
such as information obtained from bystanders or the victim themselves. Interrogations, on the
other hand, can be perceived as a more adversarial approach to again or test the information
collected to obtain a confession or eliminate a suspect. According to Swanson et al. (2012), an
officer must be persuasive and knowledgeable in the psychological approach to avoid a defensive
personality as they establish a relationship in both the interrogations and the interview process.
Such is often portrayed in understanding the emotional aspect of empathy, fear, anger, and
sympathy so officers can control and respond appropriately in each given situation (p. 125). Either
way, planning a successful interview or interrogation requires officer s to do their research and to
be well versed in the facts of the case. This may require reviewing the evidence recovered and
checking out the background of the victim, suspect, and witnesses to have a better understanding of
their daily lives, perceptions, and suspect s motives (Swanson et al., 2012, p.126). Planning
successful interviews consist of seeking out those

It illustrates the speed and variability at which these cybersecurity developments shape up. For
example, it is not difficult to imagine that under less turbulent circumstances, advocates for
democratic values in China would have gained a stronger foothold in the realm of cybersecurity
policy. Russia also faces complex questions despite the apparent clarity of its Information Security
policy. The history of cybercrime in Russia provides an interesting illustration of one of these
complications. The 1990s marked a legal and economic collapse in Russia, leading to high
unemployment even among the tech savvy, ambitious students of the Soviet education tradition.
During this time, there arose a national trend of citizens becoming more engaged in criminal
structures just to make a living. Cybercrime, both with domestic and international targets, became
one of these outlets (Glenney 147). This further illustrates the differences in circumstances between
Western and Eastern cyberspace, and leads one to question whether the stronger role of state
intervention in Russia is justified or not. For both China and Russia, the basic idea that Information
Security is an instrument of state power has not yet led to an adequate understanding of how to best
utilize it; what interests it could protect and advance; how to deter its use by others; and the rules to

The Effects Of Adhd On The Life Of An Individual
Using your textbook and the article above, construct 2 8 sentence paragraphs summarizing what
you read.
In the article entitled, The effects of ADHD on the life of an individual, their family, and
community from preschool to adult life , provided by the Archives of Disease in Childhood, talks
about the individual stages of a person suffering from ADHD. The stages beginning from childhood
and continue on to adolescence and lastly adult life. Every stage is very different from the next.
As children in preschool, in this age group there is often unusually poor intensity of play and
excessive motor restlessness. So they lack being playful but they excessively talk maybe
interrupting the teacher or someone that is an authority figure. Their behavior opposes those of
societal norms like breaking the rules in a classroom. Their social skills lack as they keep to
themselves so not much interaction with others. It is important that when teachers notice a
difference in the student s behavior to immediately inform the parents that way parents can be more
so involved with the child. Parents might encounter huge amounts of stress even strain on their
marriage when finding out about their child, but with the help of teachers and outside sources
parents will be better able to meet the demands of the child. In the first years of schooling children

Iron Maiden Research Paper
The Iron Maiden The iron maiden was possibly the most brutal method of torture that ever
existed. The device is an instrument of torture and a death instrument as well. One of the worst
parts in the torture device is the fact that the victim wouldn t be killed instantly but instead
bleeds out over a period of hours, maybe for the unlucky victims, days. Not only did the victim
have spikes jabbing into his or her body, but the device was designed to keep the victim in a
closed and confined space to increase the already horrendous torture that consists inside of the
maiden. Those are some features that makes the iron maiden as horrendous and terrible to the

Reaction About Mulaa
Mulan
Mulan is based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan. It s about a girl named Mulan(Ming Na
Wen) who is fearful that her ailing father will be drafted into the Chinese military, she takes his
spot though, as a girl living under a patriarchal government, she is technically unqualified to serve.
She cleverly imitates a man and goes off to train with fellow recruits. Accompanied by her dragon,
Mush, she uses her smarts to help region off a Hun invasion, falling in love with a dashing captain
along the way. Molly should watch this movie because it gives a message of being different. And
being fearless helps overcome the fear. She needs to overcome her struggle with developing the
relationship with her foster parents.

The Structural Change Of Silver Nannoparticles
Systematic studies on the structural change of silver nanoparticles, which are easy to change shape
and exhibit excellent localized surface plasmon resonance effect, were carried out and the predicted
shape change was compared to the actual nanoparticles. Herein, key information on the alteration of
silver nanoparticles was determined theoretically by a computational method, discrete dipole
approximation (DDA). The galvanic reaction and sulfidation reaction were suggested to improve
the stability of silver nanoprism (AgNP). In addition, the effect of additionally generated spherical
particles, silver nanosphere (AgNS), on the absorbance was studied. Both AgNP and AgNS formed
hollow nanostructure after the galvanic reaction, and these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The п¬Ѓrst solution for the scattering and absorption properties of a spherical nanoparticle was
provided by Mie et al. [10,11]. Since the initial development of Mie theory, it is now well known
that the strong optical properties of plasmonic nanoparticles result from an induced coherent
oscillation of the free conduction band electrons within the plasmonic nanoparticle. Thus, in our
previous studies [12,13], bimetallic Au/Ag nanoframes with excellent LSPR feature were prepared
via the galvanic replacement reaction and sulfidation and successfully used as the spectator for
Co2+ ion. However, there is no theoretical interpretation of color changes with structural
transformation of Au/Ag nanoframes from Ag nanoprisms. Therefore, herein, we used a theoretical
approach to determine the key information on the alteration of Ag nanoparticles by using a
computational method, discrete dipole approximation (DDA). It is very adaptive to deal with
various particle shapes, not just limited to highly symmetrical geometries. DDA is used to estimate
the optical properties of plasmonic materials responding to external electrical п¬Ѓeld through dipole
moments of discretized dipoles [14 17]. The absorbance of the particles was calculated by the
Discrete Dipole Scattering (DDSCAT ver. 7.3), which was used to design highly stable
nanoparticles with absorbance in the visible

The Killer Whale And The Whale s Dolphin Family
A killer whale is a toothed whale belonging to the ocean s dolphin family. The killer whale can
also be referred to as the orca whale or an orca. The killer whale belongs with the ocean s family
of dolphins, it s the largest member of the dolphin family. The whale weighs approximately up to
eight thousand eight hundred pounds and it can grow up to twenty eight feet in length. In this
essay I will be presenting the many factors that are included in a killer whalesuch as, stereotypes,
intelligence, foraging and feeding, living in groups, different types, appearance, and their life
cycle. Mammal eating killer whales typically travel in much smaller groups then fish eating
whales, presumably because there is some advantage to doing so. For killer whales hunting
harbor seals, individual food intake rates are highest for individuals in groups of three, that is,
three appears to be an optimal group size for foraging. Killer whales generally choose to attack
young or weak animals, however a group of five or more may attack a healthy adult.
Killer whales work together to force the fish from deep water up to near the surface where they
are easier to catch. Killer whales are highly social; some populations are composed of matrilineal
family groups, which are the most stable of any animal group. Another commonly cited example of
a benefit group living for various species of whales or dolphins is babysitting or allomothering.
The killer whale consists of three different types of

The Environmental Degradation Of Pakistan
Abstract
One of the major challenges facing today is to meet the demands of increasing population and to
reduce the environmental degradation caused by over population and industrialization. Increasing
environmental degradation is damaging the productivity of agriculture lands. The factors affecting
the productivity include soil erosion, salinization, water logging, and desertification. These factors
cause low crop yields and deterioration of environment. In this paper we will identifies the factors
limiting crop yields in Pakistan and suggest suitable technologies to realize sustainable crop yields,
while improving the environmental conditions.
Introduction
Land degradation is a process in which the value of the biophysical environment is affected by a
combination of human induced processes acting upon the land. Pakistan is a arid to semi arid
country. The natural resource base of land, water and vegetation in arid and semi arid areas is
highly fragile and extremely vulnerable to degradation. The total geographical area of Pakistan
is 79.6 mha out of which 34.44% is arable. The population of Pakistan is over 180 million and it
is increasing at the rate of 2.6% per annum (Zia et al., 2003). This can lead to over exploitation of
natural resources, including soil. Other factors are also contributing to land degradation. For
example good agricultural land for crop production is shrinking as a result of fragmentation, rapid
converting of productive agricultural land into

Needed Education For The Hemodialysis Staff
Needed Education for the Hemodialysis Staff: Death and Dying
I have been a Registered Nurse for almost twenty years specializing in Nephrology Nursing for
the last ten. Working with the End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patient has been very rewarding;
however, if one is not prepared, it can lead to professional exhaustion because of the extremely high
number of patient expirations (Lee King, 2014). The inability of the kidneys to function properly in
this particular chronic disease requires the dialysis staff to provide life sustaining treatment usually
three or four times per week to rid fluids and other impurities from the patient s blood. This
treatment requires highly technical training; but that instruction, unfortunately, does not prepare the
associate with the knowledge for talking about death or even coping with death when it happens to
their patient.
Professional Organization
I am an active member of the American Nephrology Nurses Association (ANNA) and have been
with this organization since 2004, upon first becoming part of the dialysis community. I chose
ANNA because of the nearness of the local chapter and the generous benefits offered to its
members. Some of the benefits I enjoy are the annual subscription to the bimonthly Nephrology

Anthony Mangeri s Improper Communication Analysis
There is no industry in the world that relies on proper messaging more than law enforcement. For
local governments, there is an acute need to control the flow of information to the community and
the ability to convey the message in a favorable light. In Strategies for a PIO to share Information
in Times of Crisis, (Mangeri, 2016) Anthony Mangeri outlines why planning for a crisis must
include the ability of a Public Information Officer (PIO) to collect, package and be able to
disseminate information quickly. In recent years, we have witnessed the devastating effects of
improper messaging and an organizations inability to control the messaging prior to media
sensationalism. In Baltimore, Maryland a seamlessly routine arrest of Freddie Gray... Show more

Still in control of television and their own company websites, they are no longer the sole controller
of information. Per Mangeri, all organizations must be sure to maintain the capability to
communicate valuable information about evacuation, sheltering, and other important disaster
response and recovery information to the entire community . This statement previously meant the
PIO would prepare to communicate in different contexts to the community. Now, it must also
include various forms of social media being utilized by the different generations of media
consumers. For example, most organizations have incorporated a social media component to their
messaging. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter have all become critical avenues to connect people
with those delivering critical messaging. Facebook Safety Check is a program to help mitigate the
panic that ensues during a crisis. Facebook users can now show themselves as being safe during
an incident. This allows family and friends to be informed of their loved one s status without
having to further burden the responding emergency services. In addition, the responding emergency
services themselves can disseminate the desired information. This can vary from weather
advisories to critical incidents. In addition, the Code Red System, available to first responder is an
immediate reversal of the 911 system, which calls and notifies citizens

Ethnography Research Papers
Our Ethnography Research is how student s religious views affect their political views from a
standpoint of three different religions. Since we live in a college town, we decided the
appropriate demographic should be a college student between the age of 18 and 21. I got to
interview a close friend of mine, Danny. Danny is a sophomore at Oregon State University and he
describes himself as a Seventh Day Adventist, which is a smaller branch of Christianity and as a
Democrat. I got to ask him many questions that one would not usually get asked, which made the
interview fairly difficult, but I got to meet an entirely new friend.
The first question is, What do you feel shapes your view on pro choice / pro life? His response was
pro life because of his religion. Danny believes that he is pro life because his parents raised him to
accept every blessing as a gift from God. Along with that he reckons that a parent that aborts their
child should receive a considerable punishment. If the parents do not want to keep the child they
should give it up for adoption instead of aborting a gift from God. As a Christian ... Show more

Health Rights Within The World Health Organization Essay
HEALTH RIGHTS IN CONFLICT/DISASTER CONTEXT
According to the World Health Organization, health is a state of complete physical, mental and
social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
The above definition of health by the World Health Organization redefined the concept of health
among the different stakeholders involved in safeguarding people s right to health. Until then
health was merely seen as an absence of disease. But this definition helped the world to reimagining
the various dimensions of health. Thus it underscores the fact that health is directly influenced by
the environmental as well as social factors such as housing, education, food and a sense of safety
from physical as well as sexual violence too. Thus health effects of conflict and disasters are much
beyond the mortality and morbidity figures reported. http://www.uniteforsight.org/women children

Examples Of Foreshadowing In The Hitchhiker
The Hitchhiker Most people in the world have had a hard time admitting that someone has died
that they care about. In the world this happens a lot because it is a hard thing to excepted.
Lucille Fletcher, the author of The Hitchhiker shows the fear of death through the eyes of the
main character that can not escape that he is dead. He is being followed by a Hitchhiker that is
representing death because the main character is dead which goes back to not admitting that
someone is dead. In the story The Hitchhiker, Lucille Fletcher uses flashback, foreshadowing, and
symbolism to build a mood. In the story The Hitchhiker, Lucille Fletcher uses flashback to build
a mood that is a mood of unknowing . Six months ago I left Brooklyn to drive to California.... (
Fletcher 2 and 3) Mother I ll be back. I ll only be on the coast three months . ( Fletcher 2 and 3)
This shows that Adams is flashing back to six days ago when he left Brooklyn. Another example
for the story would be I suppose not. What, ah er ah What about hitchhikers. ( Fletcher 6) This
shows that Adams is flashing back to remember that he saw a hitchhiker and he is asking the
man that is working the store if he saw any hitchhiker around lately. For a follow up it the story it
said. After I got the car back on the road again, I felt like a fool. Yet, the thought of picking him
up, of having him sit beside me, was somehow unbearable. At the same time I felt more than ever
unspeakably alone. (Fletcher 8) This also shows that the author Lucille Fletcher used flashbacks
in the story The Hitchhiker. In the story The Hitchhiker, Lucille Fletcher uses foreshadowing to
build a mood. The mood of it would be discovering. In the story the Hitchhiker Fletcher used
foreshadowing to show how Adams felt about the hitchhiker here are some examples. In the
story it said Personally, I ve never met anybody who didn t like a good ghost story. ( Fletcher 1)
This shows that she is foreshadowing that the story is going to be about a ghost. For another
example from the story Oh, it isn t that. It s it s just the trip. Ronald, I wish you weren t driving. (

Buddy System Essay
34) Buddy System
Learners are buddies with another learner either slightly or more experienced. The two work
together regularly to a project which will go on display at a specific time (i.e. exhibition, science
fair.) Buddies also assist each other on homework or on checking up with each other that homework
has been completed. In the end, neither buddy can take the summative assessment until the other
buddy says the first buddy is ready. This technique improves learning because the buddies
encourage each other to succeed.
35) Field Trips
Field trips offer the opportunity for internalize material the be externalized, applied, and sometimes
evaluated. On a field trip, designed to apply learned skills, the learner is given opportunity to apply
by practice comprehension skills, conversational skills, and vocabulary skills.
Sample Field Trips: Natural Hispanic Cultural Center; Hispanic (Target Language) Markets; Target
language classrooms in other schools; a tour given in the target language (i.e. at the zoo.)
36) Guest Speakers/Guest Teachers ( Guest Teachers )
Including fellow teachers or guest speakers to teach on a specific topic regarding the target
language, or to teach on their own topic in the target language improves learning by providing
opportunity for learners to apply internalized material. Guest speakers/Guest teachers provide
variety in classroom lecture or instruction which increases learner interest level. Increasing interest

Scientific Paradigm
In social science, a scientific paradigm refers to a framework of the mostly accepted views
about a certain subject and its research should resume and how it should be done. There is what
is known as conflict paradigm which states that there are two major social groups. These social
groups are the ruling class and the subject class. It further states that the subject class is being
ruled and oppressed by the ruling class. This has led to a conflict of interest between the two
classes. The legal and political institutions are dominated by the ruling class and always look at
advancing its interest. This conflict paradigm makes us view social behavior in one way but
another paradigm known as interactionist makes us view it at a different angle (Miguel 2014).
Natural scientists have a belief that moving from one paradigm to another indicates progress from
false to a true view. Paradigm gains or loses popularity in social sciences but are discharged
together seldom.
There are differences between social science paradigm and several other differences between the
macro and micro level theories of social sciences. Micro level focuses on individuals and their

Policy Of Appeasement Research Paper
Evaluate the success of the policy of appeasement as followed by both Britain and France.
When Neville Chamberlain became British Prime Minister in 1937, a policy of appeasement
had already begun, Chamberlain adapted it as his own policy He would find out what Hitler
wanted and show him that reasonable claims could be met by negotiation rather than by force
(Lowe). The policy of appeasement s success is debatable. Although it can be accountable for
contributing to World War Two, it did delay a possible war that the Allied powers were not
prepared for. It is only with hindsight that it can be said that appeasement was unsuccessful as it
was purely justifiable at the time.

In adapting the policy Hitler gained confidence, in that his goal for Lebensraum would be reached
without great conflict. When nothing was done when Hitler announced rearmament of Nazi
Germany it opened the way for complete rearmament in preparation for War. Appeasement
allowed for Hitler to begin his plans leading up for World War Two giving him an advantage. In
the time the policy of appeasement was active Hitler had achieved rearmament, re occupation of the
Rhineland, gaining allies with Mussolini and General Franco who all had simular ideologies. Hitler
had also gained the Sudentland. Hitler and Nazi Germany gained all this with little resistance. It was
when Hitler invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia and threatened the invasion of Poland that
appeasement ended and war begun. Although this is only with Hindsight it would have been
impossible to predict Hitler s future moves.
It is widely recognised that the policy of appeasement was a success in delaying a possible war
between the Allies and the Axis powers. It was obvious that the Allies were not ready to fight a
war, both Britain and France were still facing economic and psychological problems from World
War One. The policy of appeasement gave Europe a fake peace while giving time for Britain and
France to rearm themselves and prepare for a possible war. The policy of appeasement was a
success in the sense it avoided a war that could have started earlier and gave the Allies much
needed time to rearm and

Part of me wanted to be there to help make a difference and join in the struggle, but part of me
was also really afraid just by reading about the events in Birmingham. The people who protested
with Dr. King showed a tremendous amount of courage and passion that could not be put out by
fire hoses or dogs. I do not think that anyone, who has not been the victim of the extreme
oppression that the blacks were victims of for hundreds of years, could understand why the civil

The Quality Of Life Of Sumner House
This research project explored the quality of life of Sumner House residents utilizing the capability
approach and addressed these questions: what opportunities residents have to live a life they truly
value and how they perceive their quality of life at Sumner House. Based on six individual
interviews, this study identified a number of key capabilities for qualityof life perceived by Sumner
House residents including being healthy, receiving a high quality of care, being safe, being
independent and autonomous, having a social life, and conducting meaningful activities. The
researchfindings suggested that Sumner House provides residents with a range of opportunities to
achieve lives they have reason to value, especially capabilities for control over life and occupation.
Overall, interviewees expressed positive comments about their quality of life.
Interpretation of findings
Some of the research findings further support those arguments about the quality of life for older
adults in earlier studies. First of all, the value of bodily health is evident from the research. All
participants wish to keep as healthy as they can. Health condition is regarded to be linked to other
valued capabilities such as safety and independence. Therefore, Sumner House should continue to
enhance residents capability for health and delay the decline. Secondly, in accordance with results
of previous research, there is an evidence to show that residents can be taken care of well at

Government Power In The United States
When it comes to the topic of government power most of us can agree that having a government is
a good idea. Where this argument usually ends, however, is on the question of the way government
s powers are delegated. Whereas some are convinced that the means of the delegation are just fine
the way they are. Others maintain he idea that the federal level of government has too much power
in their hands. I believe that the means of delegation are just fine as they are. Although it is
necessary that the federal government back the state government, I think that the state government
should be the ultimate decision maker in their state. Many people believe that the federal level of
government should control what goes on everywhere in the country, which isn t a bad idea. They
believe that they should be the ultimate decision maker because they know what s best for the
country as a whole. Which is smart, but this country is too big for the federal government to know

about that until I have read The Side of the Road Is No Place for a Memorial . It is a story that
talks about when accidents happened on the streets or highways, some people will display a
memorial of the victim on the roadside. Those memorials should not be allowed due to a variety
of reasons includes: they are illegal, it will remind people the nightmares that have happened,
after a spell the memorials will became smudgy and it will be disrespectful to the victims, and
most importantly, those memorials can be the cause of the accidents ( The Side 201 203). After I
have read it, I agree with the author s ideas about displaying memorials on the roadside should be
illegal, and they are potential traffic hazards themselves, because public places should not be used
as personal, and those memorials can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We all know that in order to drive safely, we should avoid speeding, but more importantly, we
should focus and pay our attention on the lane. Even though no speeding and focus on the
throughway while driving are widespread knowledge, we did not always follow them as we
drive. If we are driving and something pop up on our sight line, we will subconsciously looking
at that object and get distract by it. At the moment that we looked away from the driveway, a
traffic accident might occur in the seconds. Just like what author have said, from unpredictable
auto and pedestrian traffic to street markers to safety sings to advertising billboards, today s
driver already face enough distractions as they travel from place to place ( The Side 203). Now we
have another distracting thing, which are the memorials that got displayed on the roadside, and
they could became the cause of another traffic accident. For this reason, memorials should not be

Introduction It is so important that managers understand how to manage. This word manage is not
just getting employees to conform to a specific thing or a standard. As a leader being able to
manage involves planning and leading, organizing and controlling. A good leader or manager may
not be able to hone these four areas as an expert right away, but with mentoring, training, and time
from upper and middle management the excellence will come. Management is the process of
working with people and resources to accomplish organizational goals. Good managers do those
things both well and proficiently. To be successful is to accomplish... Show more content on

There should be key questions that need to be answered in order to continue to move forward
progressively. Questions such as: Can your current staff carry out its part of the plan or will
additional training be needed? Will the company financially be able to handle a costly investment to
commit to new projects? Questions of this magnitude will enable CEOs and executives to make
decisions on current resources and functions as well as performance levels. Some internal factors of
any company would be financial, marketing, operations, human resources. The financial factor
would include examining areas such as strengths and weaknesses from current documentation, tax
statements, historical and industry numbers. The marketing factor would include areas such as
marketing activities, market segments, and the competitor s position. This factor also has strengths
and weaknesses. The next area is the operations factor which includes production, manufacturing,
along with strengths and weaknesses also. Human resources would include strengths and
weaknesses along with management level, employees, activities that line up with human resources
such as recruitment, training, compensation, and promotion. In regards to globalization it is an
external factor and everywhere in the twenty first century. As a function of primarily free
economies, globalization allows businesses and individuals to interact and trade as part of a world
economy. Globalization allows businesses to go

What Is The Most Stressful Out Of Police Work Essay
Police officers face many stressful situations during their job. Most jobs have high rates of stress
but it has been Proven that police work is the most stressful out of all the jobs. There are four
categories of stress that police officers face. These four categories are external, organization,
personal, and operational stress. External stress is produced by real threats and dangers. External
threats happen outside of the office. Some examples of this are gun runs and other dangerous
activities that take part in auto pursuits. Organizational stress is produced by elements within a
quasi military character. This stress comes from within the organization. This can be a constant
adjustment of changing duties, odd working hours, working holidays,

Family Structure And Family Values Essay
Over the years, family structure and a families morals and values has changed drastically from
generation to generation. From a families core values to women not working in the workforce to
women making up a good chunk of our current workforce, to even the norms of dating and the
roles of religion and culture in a family. times now are significantly different than they use to be.
With technology a new driving force interfering with families and the world altogether, their have
been many adaptations that have came along with it.
The main subject that I interviewed was my mother s mom, Tonia Johnston. She is one of my
oldest relatives, at age 68. All of my great grandparents are deceased. We started off with talking
about her great grandparents that was about as far as she could remember and still give me
adequate information. Her great grandparents names were Emma, who died at 64, and Palmer,
who died at 86. They migrated to America from Norway, to escape the poverty that they faced
and the lack of jobs. Palmer s hope of moving to America was to find a stable job and to raise a
family in hope s of a new promising country, with more opportunities. Palmer ended up taking a
career in dairy farms. His main job was to test the milk at all the local dairy farms in southern
Minnesota. Emma had no job, her primary focus was to take care of the children and to maintain
the household. They were quite the ideal modern family. Religion was a vital role in their family.

An investment in knowledge pays the best interest, once said by Benjamin Franklin, is a quote that
is very important to me. If educational opportunities are taken seriously, the knowledge gained is
invaluable. Throughout my years at Darlington High School, I have been very focused on my

After I finish my education at Darlington High School, I will be attending the University of

Modern Drama And Modern Criticism
Nothing is harder to bring to life for a modern reader than the theatre of the past, Michael Booth
states in his book, English Melodrama, as an opening to his chapter the character of melodrama .
Booth resumes by saying that to reconstruct extinct theaters, to inhabit them once again with noisy
audiences, and to light them with flickering candles, harsh hissing gas, and soft multi colored
pools of limelight picking out actors long forgotten, acting in old fashioned ways in front of
creaking flats and jerking wings, is to make dead eyes see and dead ears hear. After research on
this topic, I realized that the task is even more difficult when the kind of theatre under discussion is
now extinct, and toward which modern dramaand modern criticism is unsympathetic. This is the
case with the melodramaof the nineteenth century, the most popular dramatic form of its age, a
form that depended more on graphic exhilaration and the thrill of the moment qualities almost
beyond critical recall than anything ever written for the stage. Now it is all gone, and I will
hopefully through this essay bring some of this back to life. Yet because of its energy and
vividness, something of its nature can be imparted. Melodrama had never been rated highly by
dramatic critics or historians, whose most contemptuous word is melodramatic. To describe and
raise it out of the neglect and contumely where it has generally remained all this century, to show it
so that it can at least be

Martin Luther King Jr s Letter From Birmingham Jail
The similarities between these two are most evident in their desire for freedom. Martin Luther King
Jr. wanted freedom from segregation and Plato wanted freedom from ignorance. They both wanted
justice, and knew that it was immoral to take deny another being justice. For example, Plato has
said,
... Injustice is always an evil and dishonor to him who acts unjustly.
This is similar to what Martin Luther King Jr has also stated in Letters from Birmingham Jail , We
have a moral responsibility to disobey any law that conflicts with the law of god. (Paragraph 16)
Both Plato and King followed similar philosophies, following the laws of nature and god. Not only
were they similar in their morals and philosophical tendencies, but Allegory of ... Show more

One who claims any gender other than male or female would be considered taboo or highly
unusual by our society. Biological sex is often thought to determine one s gender identity.
Though sex and gender align for the mass of our population, there is a minority group that does
not feel that they belong to either male or female genders. To understand gender fluidity, one
must recognize that sometimes a person s gender and sex do not align. A person may not feel
that their biological sex reflects who they are, they may feel uncomfortable with the expectations
and roles placed on them due to their sex. These gender roles are created by social expectations of
our western society. Gender roles are merely social constructs, and if one does not want to conform
to societies conjectures placed on them due to their biological sex, they should have the freedom to
non conform.
We must protest and express our discontent with society in order to make a change. Martin Luther
King Jr. carefully and patiently explained his philosophy and what he wanted from the masses.
He wanted support and for everyone to understand his plan and what he wanted to get out of the
protests. This can be applied to the contemporary issue of opposing gender fluidity by comparing
the issues and what should be done about them. If gender advocates followed in the footsteps of
Martin Luther King Jr. and work with the delicacy that King did, we would be

Global Citizenship And The Rights Of Women
Global Citizenship and the Rights of women
Global Citizen
A Global citizen is someone who identifies with being part of an emerging world community and
whose actions contribute to building this community s values and practices. (Kosmosjournal.org,
2016). Global citizens are all of us who identify with taking action against world issues. Global
Citizenship (cosmopolitism) looks at us as needing to be patriotic to our nation state, but also
needing to put humanity and the greater good globally first, its an ability to see themselves as not
simply citizens of some local region or group but also, and above all, as human beings bound to all
other human beings by ties of recognition and concern: as citizens of the world . (Nussbaum, 2004,
p.45).
Rights and Responsibilities
As global citizens we must know our goals in order to know what responsibilities we have we
have drifted apart, and forgotten our shared destiny (...). But the burdens of global citizenship
continue to bind us together. (Obama, 2008), we must enable ourselves as global citizens to
understand the issues plaguing our world and look at these issues ethically, morally, and socially.
We as global citizens have the responsibility for advocating greater justice in the world, this type of
advocating needs to be demonstrated and is exemplified in a major issue currently plaguing our
world relating to women s rights and the inequality women face in many countries. Women s rights
are human rights and are embedded in

Similarities And Differences In Ancient Greece
In this essay two Ancient Greek city states (polies) will be compared and contrasted showing how
despite their differences, they both rose to become predominating powers. Ancient Greece consisted
of many small city states, two of which were Athens and Sparta. Athens was considered the center
of fine arts, music, and educational opportunities. Spartawas known for its outstanding military
strength and tactical abilities at war. Life for a Spartiate was comprised of constant training and
conditioning for war, while an Athenian citizen would spend much of their day pursuing what they
wished. Although these two city states were substantially different, they both rose to become the
two most predominant powers in Ancient Greece.
There were several advantages and disadvantages to each of these two polies. Their societal
structures were relatively similar, and their governments were exact opposites. Athens was a very
artistic and philosophical city state while Spartan culture revolved more around the training of men
for war and stability of the government. Spartans valued organization and stability, while
Athenians comparatively valued freedom of choice. There were also huge gender biases between
the two polies, and through all of this, traditions and beliefs have been passed down to our
generations today, helping to shape the world we live in.
To begin with the simplest societal structure of these two poleis. Spartan society was divided into
three main classes. At the top was

Characteristics Of Lingustics
Lingustics is by far one of the most intriguing subjects and classes I have ever taken before. In my
opinion, it is a subject everyone seems to be familiar with, yet not really aware of how and why we
know the gist of it. Lingustics is the scientific study of human language and its structure, we study
languagebecause it teaches us how to communicate with others. Language is everywhere and part
of our everyday lives, we use language to communicate with everyone around us. For many
communication is vital as part of our jobs and for others it is a form of expression. Language is
something that can make us feel good and happy, if someone compliments you, it makes you feel
good, but it is also something that can be used to hurt and make people cry, it is a powerful tool
humans have. Language whether it be verbal or not has meaning and we must know the basics in
order to communicate effectively. In lingustics we learn about the different perspective of language
and the different aspects that language is made up of, including phonetics, phonologymorphology,
and syntax. Morphology and morphemes are what we know as the sounds of language,
morphology are what we know as words and synatx are the sentences that compose our language.
There is a lot more to language than what the common person knows, language and the way we
speak it all has meaning behind it. I believe that to know and be able to speak any language is a
privilege and for those who are bilingual and get to experience it

  • 2. Speech Steve Jobs Speech At Stanford s 2005 graduation Steve Jobs spoke to some of the brightest young men and women in the country. Stanford s graduating class of 2005 heard an inspiring and compelling speech split into three stories from Steve Jobs life. Steve Jobs used metaphors, repetition, and antithesis creating an inspiring and compelling argument to never give up on finding and doing what you love. Steve Jobs split his speech into three stories. The first one was about connecting the dots. The whole story is a metaphor having dots stand in as actions that you have done and will do. He also points to how it is impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very, very clear looking backward 10 years later. This is elaborating on the previous metaphor. This states that the actions, dots or in Steve Jobs s case the typography class, at the time seemed to have no clear purpose. However, later on, you can see how it connects to something else that you have or will do.In Steve Jobs case, the typography class lead to the Macintosh having different fonts. In his second story he, talked about love and loss, explaining what happened when his own company, Apple, fired him, only to have it help in. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. In this metaphor, he has medicine standing in as being fired from Apple, the awful tasting being how it felt, and him needing it because it helped him. He followed up that metaphor with another one, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Challenger Disaster The Challenger disaster was not only a disaster in terms of the destruction of the spacecraft and the death of its crew but also in terms of the decision making process that led to the launch and in terms of the subsequent investigation into the quot;causes quot; of the disaster. The decision to recommend for launch was made by lower level management officials over the objections of technical experts who opposed the launch under the environmental conditions that existed on the launch pad at the time. Furthermore, the lower level managers who made this decision both NASA and contractor personnel chose not to report the objections of the technical experts in their recommendations to higher levels in the management chain of command to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A more appropriate ethical analysis would seek to understand the ways in which the decision making process itself fostered or hindered responsibility among individuals within the organization and of the organization itself. In this respect, when viewed as a problem of responsibility, the Challenger disaster presents a much more insightful lesson on the nature of decision making in a large organization such as NASA. While it seems clear that the decision that led to the explosion of the Challenger was made by those lower level managers who chose to ignore the objections of technical experts who opposed the launch, the subsequent investigation revealed how the decision making processes within NASA (and it contractors) worked to limit the agency of decision makers and to obscure accountability for their decision making. The problem of responsibility in the decision making process focuses upon three issues: the availability of information, the role of technical specifications and formal regulations, and the management chain of command. Each of these factors contributed to the exercise of poor judgment and to the obscuring of accountability in the decision making process. The availability of information more precisely the lack of information had an impact upon the decision making process in three different ways. • 5. Animal Rights For Animals George Bernard Shaw once said, the worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them: that s the essence of inhumanity. The issue of giving animals rights has dated back to the ancient Greek in Romans. They believed that people who died who be reborn in a new life as an animal. This issue has date since sixth century B.C.E until now. As of now the biggest controversy was the seaworld case involving their interaction with the orcas that had been the stars of their park. There were many other cases and the issue soon began to escalate as the number of injuries and occasional deaths increased. Once the problems go to court a decision of removing the exhibit was the best way to decrease injury by no longer creating contact with the animals. The United Statesshould create a set of rightsfor animals in the entertainment industry in order to give those animals proper treatment. The film documentary Blackfish discusses the issues with Seaworld s orca exhibit and they expose all the problems and issues that orca s experience after the show. During the documentary multiple trainers and seaworld employees who captured the orcas for the shows came to a realization. This is a multi billion dollar corporation that makes its money through the exploitation of Orcas. The cruelty in their methods of capturing showed in the whales and how they were separated from their real families and would release the anger on trainers. All the orcas had to ... • 6. Stress And The Human Brain When we encounter a threat that we feel we do not have the resources to deal with, a stimulus known as stressors are released and as a result, makes us stressed. These stressors activate the stress response system which sends a cascade of biological events thus releasing the stress hormones known as adrenaline and cortisol. The hormones cause our body to go into a Flight or Fight mode and can affect us either positively or negatively. By going into flight or fight mode our blood pressure, breathing, and heart rate increases meanwhile there is a decrease in digestive activity and the liver produces more glucose for energy. The topic of stressis a very popular area of study for those interested in human sciences. In particular, stress is often viewed through the scopes of a Psychologist, Sociologist and an Anthropologist. The Psychologist s perspective revolves around relations between stress and the human brain. One of the questions they might ask would be if an individual can be born with stress. The answer is sometimes but not often. Researches at the University of Edinburgh found that mother s wombs and babies brains contain a chemical protecting them from a mother s stress. However, if this chemical is unavailable, then the mothers are potentially exposing their unborn babies to stress. The study also discovered that the babies exposed to stress in the womb tend to be more susceptible to anxiety and depression. A psychologist may also be interested in studying ... • 7. Analysis Of The Poem The Of Mendoza Utilises Onofre... It is fair to say that Mendoza utilises Onofre Bouvila as a character to be portrayed as a direct parallel to the development and aspirations of Barcelona. This is expressed in the novel, since; it is irrelevant how rich and powerful Onofre becomes. This is due to the fact that, he can never be on the top table of the social ladder literally and figuratively, due to his impoverished upbringing and working class background. corriГі hacia la mesa presidencial... Therefore, one can surmise that Barcelona will never be able to consider it as the most significant and influential city in Spain. This is mainly due to the fact that, it has the smaller population and is not the capital city. This is further illustrated with Onofre at the end of the book. When Onofre disappears on his flying machine it is Mendoza s method to demonstrate to the reader that Onofre has given up on his aspiration of achieving the highest echelons of the social ladder in Spain. This could be Mendoza s intention to show that Barcelona s aspiration to escape the suppression by the hands of Madrid is dissipating. Los que alertados por el ruido de los motores habГan salido a los balcones o habГan subido a los terrados vieron cГіmo la mГЎquina voladora desviaba sur umbo hacia el mar, como si la empujara un viento repentino de poniente. This shows us that Mendoza is trying to tell the reader that what happened to Onofre is not important to us. This could be a criticism by Mendoza, about the vociferous nature of which Barcelona and Catalonia attempt to gain independence from Spain. He achieves this denigration by displaying Catalonia s cries for independence as falling on deaf ears. Hence Mendoza uses the character of Onofre to express his point of view that the objectives Catalonia ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Jet Fuel Insurance Essay Chapter 1: Introduction In the United States, biodiesel and biofuel production have increased dramatically in recent years due to environmental issues from excessive petroleum usages. The world is now severely depended on oil for many purposes: powering cars, airplanes, farm vehicles, irrigation pumps, etc. It also plays a significant role as raw material for making many products like chemical products, medicines, and fabrics. In the USA, it is becoming more accessible to lessen the dependency on foreign oil. The second highest expense for airlines is the cost of jet fuel. Any increase in oil prices effects huge amount on the airlines costs and maintenances. The global demand for aviation fuel is above 40 billion gallons per year which influenced researchers to explore high quality but low cost feedstocks to produce aviation standard fuel (Oil Price.Com, 2011). Therefore, the key concern of commercial aviation is to find reliable fuel alternatives to cut costs, and reduce volatility of fuel supply and carbon emissions. Americans have over 75 guns per 100 people, whereas other western countries range from 5 to 30 guns per 100 people (2007 small arms survey). Gun violence is a major issue in the United Statesdue to lack of guncontrol. The lack of gun control makes handguns too readily available to citizens, allows those who should not own a firearmthe ability to purchase firearms, and no policy on secure storage of firearms. As a result, I conclude that a combination of restriction of private ownership of handguns and stricter background check and storage policy would eliminate some of the violence caused by guns. A monogamous relationship is traditionally characterised by two individuals who have dependent children or also as a nuclear family. Monogamy is a hetero normative practice that involves two individuals in a relationship; the couple is not engaged in extramarital intimacy. Nuclear families also fall under this practice. Polyamoryis a non monogamous practice that refers to multiple intimate partners and experiences. Scholars have continued to argue the success of monogamous relationships. Harville Hendrix (1990) explains that monogamy is a healing practice. Partners in monogamous relationships go through many stages and struggles as a committed couple. Through struggle, partners act as healers that help to work through each other s suffering (Hendrix 1990). Hendrix (1990) believes individuals choose their partners to work through the pain together and help them grow through life. Monogamous marriage is a spiritual path to happiness and commitment between two individuals (Hendrix 1990). A committed relationship requires monogamy, and Hendrix (1990) contends that healthy and spiritual commitments encourage the sustainability of monogamous relationships. Although Hendrix (1990) contends that monogamy is an effective practice, research has largely built a case around the consequences of monogamous relationships. Debates have circled around the experiences within nuclear families and monogamous relationships, and Stelbourn (1999) proclaims it is a largely patriarchal practice. Stelbourn (1999) uses Engel s work during the eighteenth century, to explain the still existent contemporary debate around the consequences of monogamy. The work of Friedrich Engels (Stelbourn 1999) focused on the division between mothers as housewives, and fathers as workers in nuclear families. Women were reduced in power and ... • 13. Evaluation Of A Interview Or Interrogation Interviews and interrogations are similar in that the officer must establish a relationship with individuals and ask good questions in a planned out and controlled surrounding or semi controlled setting while carefully listening and documenting the statements. Interviews are conducted to gather information from individuals who may have detailed information that can further the case such as information obtained from bystanders or the victim themselves. Interrogations, on the other hand, can be perceived as a more adversarial approach to again or test the information collected to obtain a confession or eliminate a suspect. According to Swanson et al. (2012), an officer must be persuasive and knowledgeable in the psychological approach to avoid a defensive personality as they establish a relationship in both the interrogations and the interview process. Such is often portrayed in understanding the emotional aspect of empathy, fear, anger, and sympathy so officers can control and respond appropriately in each given situation (p. 125). Either way, planning a successful interview or interrogation requires officer s to do their research and to be well versed in the facts of the case. This may require reviewing the evidence recovered and checking out the background of the victim, suspect, and witnesses to have a better understanding of their daily lives, perceptions, and suspect s motives (Swanson et al., 2012, p.126). Such problems are only made more acute as China s Internet penetration rate is among the fastest growing in the world, while its information enterprises are still inexperienced relative to Western industry experts. It illustrates the speed and variability at which these cybersecurity developments shape up. For example, it is not difficult to imagine that under less turbulent circumstances, advocates for democratic values in China would have gained a stronger foothold in the realm of cybersecurity policy. Russia also faces complex questions despite the apparent clarity of its Information Security policy. The history of cybercrime in Russia provides an interesting illustration of one of these complications. The 1990s marked a legal and economic collapse in Russia, leading to high unemployment even among the tech savvy, ambitious students of the Soviet education tradition. During this time, there arose a national trend of citizens becoming more engaged in criminal structures just to make a living. Cybercrime, both with domestic and international targets, became one of these outlets (Glenney 147). This further illustrates the differences in circumstances between Western and Eastern cyberspace, and leads one to question whether the stronger role of state intervention in Russia is justified or not. For both China and Russia, the basic idea that Information Security is an instrument of state power has not yet led to an adequate understanding of how to best utilize it; what interests it could protect and advance; how to deter its use by others; and the rules to which states should ... • 18. The Effects Of Adhd On The Life Of An Individual Using your textbook and the article above, construct 2 8 sentence paragraphs summarizing what you read. In the article entitled, The effects of ADHD on the life of an individual, their family, and community from preschool to adult life , provided by the Archives of Disease in Childhood, talks about the individual stages of a person suffering from ADHD. The stages beginning from childhood and continue on to adolescence and lastly adult life. Every stage is very different from the next. As children in preschool, in this age group there is often unusually poor intensity of play and excessive motor restlessness. So they lack being playful but they excessively talk maybe interrupting the teacher or someone that is an authority figure. Their behavior opposes those of societal norms like breaking the rules in a classroom. Their social skills lack as they keep to themselves so not much interaction with others. It is important that when teachers notice a difference in the student s behavior to immediately inform the parents that way parents can be more so involved with the child. Parents might encounter huge amounts of stress even strain on their marriage when finding out about their child, but with the help of teachers and outside sources parents will be better able to meet the demands of the child. In the first years of schooling children with normal learning abilities will surpass those with ADHD, but if the teacher is actively involved with those students with ADHD (338) they ... The device is an instrument of torture and a death instrument as well. One of the worst parts in the torture device is the fact that the victim wouldn t be killed instantly but instead bleeds out over a period of hours, maybe for the unlucky victims, days. Not only did the victim have spikes jabbing into his or her body, but the device was designed to keep the victim in a closed and confined space to increase the already horrendous torture that consists inside of the maiden. Those are some features that makes the iron maiden as horrendous and terrible to the victim inside. The iron maiden, as bad as it already is, it gets worse. The spikes were short so the torture wouldn t be instantly fatal and the victim would take longer to bleed out than if the spikes were longer. Also, the spikes were carefully placed so the spikes would pierce the victim s eyes and organs. The device opened with two doors, which the victim would back into the device. One door had eight spikes and the other door featured thirteen spikes. One function of the maiden is it could open and close without letting the victim out of the device. The Structural Change Of Silver Nannoparticles Systematic studies on the structural change of silver nanoparticles, which are easy to change shape and exhibit excellent localized surface plasmon resonance effect, were carried out and the predicted shape change was compared to the actual nanoparticles. Herein, key information on the alteration of silver nanoparticles was determined theoretically by a computational method, discrete dipole approximation (DDA). The galvanic reaction and sulfidation reaction were suggested to improve the stability of silver nanoprism (AgNP). In addition, the effect of additionally generated spherical particles, silver nanosphere (AgNS), on the absorbance was studied. Both AgNP and AgNS formed hollow nanostructure after the galvanic reaction, and these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The п¬Ѓrst solution for the scattering and absorption properties of a spherical nanoparticle was provided by Mie et al. [10,11]. Since the initial development of Mie theory, it is now well known that the strong optical properties of plasmonic nanoparticles result from an induced coherent oscillation of the free conduction band electrons within the plasmonic nanoparticle. Thus, in our previous studies [12,13], bimetallic Au/Ag nanoframes with excellent LSPR feature were prepared via the galvanic replacement reaction and sulfidation and successfully used as the spectator for Co2+ ion. However, there is no theoretical interpretation of color changes with structural transformation of Au/Ag nanoframes from Ag nanoprisms. Therefore, herein, we used a theoretical approach to determine the key information on the alteration of Ag nanoparticles by using a computational method, discrete dipole approximation (DDA). It is very adaptive to deal with various particle shapes, not just limited to highly symmetrical geometries. DDA is used to estimate the optical properties of plasmonic materials responding to external electrical п¬Ѓeld through dipole moments of discretized dipoles [14 17]. • 24. The Killer Whale And The Whale s Dolphin Family A killer whale is a toothed whale belonging to the ocean s dolphin family. The killer whale can also be referred to as the orca whale or an orca. The killer whale belongs with the ocean s family of dolphins, it s the largest member of the dolphin family. The whale weighs approximately up to eight thousand eight hundred pounds and it can grow up to twenty eight feet in length. In this essay I will be presenting the many factors that are included in a killer whalesuch as, stereotypes, intelligence, foraging and feeding, living in groups, different types, appearance, and their life cycle. Mammal eating killer whales typically travel in much smaller groups then fish eating whales, presumably because there is some advantage to doing so. For killer whales hunting harbor seals, individual food intake rates are highest for individuals in groups of three, that is, three appears to be an optimal group size for foraging. Killer whales generally choose to attack young or weak animals, however a group of five or more may attack a healthy adult. Killer whales work together to force the fish from deep water up to near the surface where they are easier to catch. Killer whales are highly social; some populations are composed of matrilineal family groups, which are the most stable of any animal group. Another commonly cited example of a benefit group living for various species of whales or dolphins is babysitting or allomothering. The killer whale consists of three different types of ... • 25. The Environmental Degradation Of Pakistan Abstract One of the major challenges facing today is to meet the demands of increasing population and to reduce the environmental degradation caused by over population and industrialization. Increasing environmental degradation is damaging the productivity of agriculture lands. The factors affecting the productivity include soil erosion, salinization, water logging, and desertification. These factors cause low crop yields and deterioration of environment. In this paper we will identifies the factors limiting crop yields in Pakistan and suggest suitable technologies to realize sustainable crop yields, while improving the environmental conditions. Introduction Land degradation is a process in which the value of the biophysical environment is affected by a combination of human induced processes acting upon the land. Pakistan is a arid to semi arid country. The natural resource base of land, water and vegetation in arid and semi arid areas is highly fragile and extremely vulnerable to degradation. The total geographical area of Pakistan is 79.6 mha out of which 34.44% is arable. The population of Pakistan is over 180 million and it is increasing at the rate of 2.6% per annum (Zia et al., 2003). This can lead to over exploitation of natural resources, including soil. Other factors are also contributing to land degradation. For example good agricultural land for crop production is shrinking as a result of fragmentation, rapid converting of productive agricultural land into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Health Rights Within The World Health Organization Essay HEALTH RIGHTS IN CONFLICT/DISASTER CONTEXT According to the World Health Organization, health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. The above definition of health by the World Health Organization redefined the concept of health among the different stakeholders involved in safeguarding people s right to health. Until then health was merely seen as an absence of disease. But this definition helped the world to reimagining the various dimensions of health. The policy of appeasement s success is debatable. Although it can be accountable for contributing to World War Two, it did delay a possible war that the Allied powers were not prepared for. I cannot comprehend the extent to which they suffered while protesting, and it would be ignorant of me to think that I could understand. The many people who fought with Martin Luther King, Jr. for civil rightsunderstand something about this country that I am only beginning to discover. How could people think that this kind of oppression was tolerable and that the blacks did not have a right and freedom to protest? Part of me wanted to be there to help make a difference and join in the struggle, but part of me was also really afraid just by reading about the events in Birmingham. The people who protested with Dr. King showed a tremendous amount of courage and passion that could not be put out by fire hoses or dogs. I do not think that anyone, who has not been the victim of the extreme oppression that the blacks were victims of for hundreds of years, could understand why the civil rights movement was necessary at that time. Dr. King realized that you cannot wait for people to change their attitudes or beliefs, you have to help them see the error of their beliefs. It is easy for someone who is not being oppressed to tell you to wait. When you and your families are the victims of oppression and violence, you reach a breaking point when you realize that things need to change now. Dr. King had the courage to say that publicly, and people followed him in the struggle because of that courage. When you believe in something that much nothing, not even death can stop the struggle. • 40. Government Power In The United States When it comes to the topic of government power most of us can agree that having a government is a good idea. Where this argument usually ends, however, is on the question of the way government s powers are delegated. Whereas some are convinced that the means of the delegation are just fine the way they are. Others maintain he idea that the federal level of government has too much power in their hands. I believe that the means of delegation are just fine as they are. Although it is necessary that the federal government back the state government, I think that the state government should be the ultimate decision maker in their state. Many people believe that the federal level of government should control what goes on everywhere in the country, which isn t a bad idea. They believe that they should be the ultimate decision maker because they know what s best for the country as a whole. Which is smart, but this country is too big for the federal government to know what s best for communities and the states. There are over three hundred million people in the United States. That is way too many people for five hundred thousand people to control. That would mean that the government would have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I never thought about that until I have read The Side of the Road Is No Place for a Memorial . It is a story that talks about when accidents happened on the streets or highways, some people will display a memorial of the victim on the roadside. Those memorials should not be allowed due to a variety of reasons includes: they are illegal, it will remind people the nightmares that have happened, after a spell the memorials will became smudgy and it will be disrespectful to the victims, and most importantly, those memorials can be the cause of the accidents ( The Side 201 203). • 46. Modern Drama And Modern Criticism Nothing is harder to bring to life for a modern reader than the theatre of the past, Michael Booth states in his book, English Melodrama, as an opening to his chapter the character of melodrama . Booth resumes by saying that to reconstruct extinct theaters, to inhabit them once again with noisy audiences, and to light them with flickering candles, harsh hissing gas, and soft multi colored pools of limelight picking out actors long forgotten, acting in old fashioned ways in front of creaking flats and jerking wings, is to make dead eyes see and dead ears hear. After research on this topic, I realized that the task is even more difficult when the kind of theatre under discussion is now extinct, and toward which modern dramaand modern criticism is unsympathetic. This is the case with the melodramaof the nineteenth century, the most popular dramatic form of its age, a form that depended more on graphic exhilaration and the thrill of the moment qualities almost beyond critical recall than anything ever written for the stage. Now it is all gone, and I will hopefully through this essay bring some of this back to life. Yet because of its energy and vividness, something of its nature can be imparted. Melodrama had never been rated highly by dramatic critics or historians, whose most contemptuous word is melodramatic. To describe and raise it out of the neglect and contumely where it has generally remained all this century, to show it so that it can at least be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Biological sex is often thought to determine one s gender identity. Though sex and gender align for the mass of our population, there is a minority group that does not feel that they belong to either male or female genders. To understand gender fluidity, one must recognize that sometimes a person s gender and sex do not align. A person may not feel that their biological sex reflects who they are, they may feel uncomfortable with the expectations and roles placed on them due to their sex. These gender roles are created by social expectations of our western society. Gender roles are merely social constructs, and if one does not want to conform to societies conjectures placed on them due to their biological sex, they should have the freedom to non conform. We must protest and express our discontent with society in order to make a change. Martin Luther King Jr. carefully and patiently explained his philosophy and what he wanted from the masses. He wanted support and for everyone to understand his plan and what he wanted to get out of the protests. This can be applied to the contemporary issue of opposing gender fluidity by comparing the issues and what should be done about them. Global Citizenship And The Rights Of Women Global Citizenship and the Rights of women Global Citizen A Global citizen is someone who identifies with being part of an emerging world community and whose actions contribute to building this community s values and practices. (Kosmosjournal.org, 2016). Global citizens are all of us who identify with taking action against world issues. Global Citizenship (cosmopolitism) looks at us as needing to be patriotic to our nation state, but also needing to put humanity and the greater good globally first, its an ability to see themselves as not simply citizens of some local region or group but also, and above all, as human beings bound to all other human beings by ties of recognition and concern: as citizens of the world . (Nussbaum, 2004, p.45). Rights and Responsibilities As global citizens we must know our goals in order to know what responsibilities we have we have drifted apart, and forgotten our shared destiny (...). But the burdens of global citizenship continue to bind us together. (Obama, 2008), we must enable ourselves as global citizens to understand the issues plaguing our world and look at these issues ethically, morally, and socially. We as global citizens have the responsibility for advocating greater justice in the world, this type of advocating needs to be demonstrated and is exemplified in a major issue currently plaguing our world relating to women s rights and the inequality women face in many countries. • 50. Similarities And Differences In Ancient Greece In this essay two Ancient Greek city states (polies) will be compared and contrasted showing how despite their differences, they both rose to become predominating powers. Ancient Greece consisted of many small city states, two of which were Athens and Sparta. Athens was considered the center of fine arts, music, and educational opportunities. Spartawas known for its outstanding military strength and tactical abilities at war. Life for a Spartiate was comprised of constant training and conditioning for war, while an Athenian citizen would spend much of their day pursuing what they wished. Although these two city states were substantially different, they both rose to become the two most predominant powers in Ancient Greece. There were several advantages and disadvantages to each of these two polies. Their societal structures were relatively similar, and their governments were exact opposites. Athens was a very artistic and philosophical city state while Spartan culture revolved more around the training of men for war and stability of the government. Spartans valued organization and stability, while Athenians comparatively valued freedom of choice. There were also huge gender biases between the two polies, and through all of this, traditions and beliefs have been passed down to our generations today, helping to shape the world we live in. To begin with the simplest societal structure of these two poleis. Spartan society was divided into three main classes. At the top was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Characteristics Of Lingustics Lingustics is by far one of the most intriguing subjects and classes I have ever taken before. In my opinion, it is a subject everyone seems to be familiar with, yet not really aware of how and why we know the gist of it. Lingustics is the scientific study of human language and its structure, we study languagebecause it teaches us how to communicate with others. Language is everywhere and part of our everyday lives, we use language to communicate with everyone around us. For many communication is vital as part of our jobs and for others it is a form of expression. Language is something that can make us feel good and happy, if someone compliments you, it makes you feel good, but it is also something that can be used to hurt and make people cry, it is a powerful tool humans have. Language whether it be verbal or not has meaning and we must know the basics in order to communicate effectively. In lingustics we learn about the different perspective of language and the different aspects that language is made up of, including phonetics, phonologymorphology, and syntax. Morphology and morphemes are what we know as the sounds of language, morphology are what we know as words and synatx are the sentences that compose our language. There is a lot more to language than what the common person knows, language and the way we speak it all has meaning behind it. I believe that to know and be able to speak any language is a privilege and for those who are bilingual and get to experience it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
