Art Form For The Digital Age Summary
Art Form For The Digital Age Summary Art Form For The Digital Age, by Henry Jenkins is
about gaming expanding and how it s being considered a digital art. The growing game industry
is said to be the most growing form of art in the economy today. The gaming industry has grown
tremendously in the past century. It went from silent pong games to intense story plot and mind
blowing real life graphics like Final Fantasy. Games are becoming more and more realistic,
characters can talk, and blink, jump, wave and every part of the body moves like a real person can.
Parental advisory is a big part of these games. In this new generation of video games, players can
blow up enemies and rip them apart. Games are so realistic that some... Show more content on

Purchase weapons in gun stores, take a trip to the strip clubs and spend money on prostitues late
at night. Video games like GTA, Assassin Creed, Call Of Duty Series creates criminals. I
understand that gaming industry is trying to show the artistic view point of what the creator s
vision and they should continue but they should take this a bit of consideration to the younger
audience. The gaming industry will never die and continue to grow as a digital art. Not only are
they used for fun, they are making more simulations for training some jobs like air plane
simulations and criminal justice scenarios for shooting. The industry is becoming more popular
than cinemas and even the internet. More and more young adults are going towards game
designing instead of producing movies. Videos games is growing tremendously that its
becoming the main entertainment. Amazing story plot that you can only see in the movies and
mind blowing real life graphics. Games are becoming more realistic that characters can do any
kind of gestures and move every part of the body like a real person can. Its amazing to see and
incredible to play. After reading this article i considered videos games as digital art and i cannot

The Proportion Of A Naturalized Born Citizen
(This Post is for my generation who is confused or worried about being deported if Donald
Trump becomes president) Friends and acquaintances who are the children of a recent
immigrant, if you were born in the United States or in any of the US s territory such as Guam,
Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands, you are considered as a US citizen. The 14th
Amendment protects your right as a Naturalized Born Citizen and you CAN NOT be deported.
The only way you can be deported as a citizen is if the government can prove that your citizenship
had some mistakes (such as being born outside of USA instead of in the USA, or false information
in your citizenship application), which is quite hard to prove if you have your birth certificate. If

Atoms for Peace Analysis Essay
Dwight D Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States from 1953 1960, is revered as a
statesman and great military leader. Born in Texas in 1890 and raised in Kansas to a family that
valued education, Eisenhower began a long career as a leader and military officer upon his
graduation in 1915 from West Point. Eisenhower is recognized for his leadership and oratorical
skills which he applied to both military endeavors and managing the nation. He was fortunate to be
mentored by General Fox Conner, in the Panama Canal Zone. Conner encouraged him to study
important works of history, military science, and philosophy which Eisenhower applied to his own
efforts and experiences. Eisenhower later moved up the military ranks to five star... Show more

The audience s biases and beliefs both impeded and helped Eisenhower s proposal. Eisenhower s
diction was appropriate for his audience; though he used some jargon, the members were able to
understand because of their level of knowledge. His appeals, mostly to pathos and ethos, were
effective. He established ethos by addressing the meeting with France and Great Britain, and
through his position as President. Eisenhower s use of rhetoric allowed his audience to be receptive
to his argument. In Eisenhower s introduction he does not construct the reality and frame the
question effectively. He does not make his purpose clear in his introduction either. Even though in
the first paragraph Dwight mentions that his speech will be about the issues of society today, he
does not mention those issues much farther in the text. The structure of his arguments contribute to
his persuasion. Eisenhower would begin by telling the audience what the issues at hand are, then
would say his solution to each problem. For example, around the 21st paragraph, Eisenhower uses
a first, second and finally method. In those, he states some issues such as, the knowledge now
possessed by several nations will eventually be shared by others possibly all others. Then Dwight
goes to suggest the solution or solutions to the previously stated problems. Also, throughout the
piece, he

psoriasis, ulcers, and wound care. Below I am going to explain the five disorders. Lice Starting of I
would aware the patient that anyone can get it, no matter how clean they are. I would also, as a
medical assistant, explain to them the different treatments. Letting the patient know to not share
combs, pillows, brushes, etc. is very important. Also letting them know to only use medication as
prescribed is important. Eczema As a medical assistant I would explain the condition. Let them
know it is not contagious. Make the patient aware that there s several types and treatments for
eczema, and to explain it. Lastly let the patient know that

The Function Of Thyroid Gland
The thyroid gland is butterfly shaped organ located in the front of the neck just above the trachea
connected by an isthmus [1]. the major function of thyroid gland is the Production of the T3, T4
and calcitonin hormones. Dysfunction of thyroid gland causes the shortcoming in the production of
thyroid hormones. Thyroiddisorders related to dyshormonogenesis e.g. (Goiter, Thyroiditis,
hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, Graves disease, thyroid cancer, thyroid nodule, thyroid

technique for diagnosis of thyroid diseases [5][6], Computed tomography and magnetic resonance

Memo of Dollar General
Relevant Economic Trends With the exception of supercenters such as Costco and BJ s, the
fastest growing portion of the overall retail industry in the United States during the past decade
has been in the dollar store segment. From 2000 2005 dollar stores had a compound annual
growth rate (CAGR) of 10.2% which was nearly double the 5.6% CAGR in the retail industry as
a whole. Sales from these discount stores were $24.7 billion in 2000 and were expected to more
than double to $51.1 billion in 2009 (Exhibit 8). Two main drivers fueled this growth trend. The
first was a cultural shift in consumers towards a bargain based mentality. This was spurred by an
increased presence of retailers with a low cost strategy including Wal Mart,... Show more content on

They emphasize the use of even dollar prices on most items to conveniently make it easy for
customers to track how much they are spending before they get to the checkout line. This
coupled with their focused assortment of quality goods allows easy in and out shopping and
saves the customer time. DG competes against big box retailers such as Wal Mart through price
and convenience rather than price and selection. The average DG store is 6,900 square feet with
about 4,900 stock keeping units (SKUs) serving customers who live within five miles of the
store. The average Wal Mart on the other hand is over 100,000 square feet containing more than
75,000 SKUs and serves many customers living more than five miles away. Strategically limiting
the number of brands and sizes as well as purchasing fast turning SKUs gives DG the leverage to
negotiate low purchase prices when bargaining with suppliers based on the higher volume of
individual SKUs being purchased. This allows them to offer competitive prices while achieving
price parity with big box retailers selling the same items and on occasion even beating these
competitor s prices. Focusing on both price and convenience also allows DG to compete and
differentiate themselves from other small convenience, discount, and drugstore retailers who
typically focus on either price or convenience but

Summary Of Don Juan A Yaqui Way Of Knowledge
The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge by Carlos Castaneda explores spiritual
and philosophical awaking through the use of hallucinogenic plants (mainly peyote) to induce
states of nonordinary reality, and ancient Yaqui knowledge. It is an anthropological memoir of
the experiences of the author under the tutelage of the Yaqui Indian Sorcerer (brujo) don Juan
Matus in Sonora, Mexico from 1960 to 1965. The book was written by Castaneda as his Master s
thesis in the school of anthropology at the University of California Los Angeles, and was
published by the university in 1968. The book is presented in two parts: the first deals with the
teachings of don Juan; while the second is an academic look at his journey. It is the first in a series
of books by Castaneda that delve into the subject of spiritual awakening, and development;
something Castaneda devoted the rest of his life to exploring.... Show more content on

After observing don Juan a number of times he begins to inquire if don Juan will teach him the
ways of Mescalito (what the brujos call the spirit that inhabits peyote and causes the
extrasensory experience). Don Juan initially declines the requests of Castaneda because don
Juan believes he does not know his heart, and it order to walk the path of the brujo one must
know their own heart. Don Juan gives Castaneda a test that he must pass if he wants him to teach
him about Mescalito; he must find his spot, his sitio : the place on the floor that will give him
power, and strength. After spending much time rolling around the floor, and feeling like a fool,
Castaneda falls asleep; when he awakens don Juan tells him he has found his spot. He feels no

Conflict And Conflict In The Bottom Billion By John Collier
In The Bottom Billion by Collier, he persuasively explains the reasons unindustrialized countries
are developing at low rates. In addition, Collier proposes policies in an effort to get away from the
sluggishness. Even though Collier has emphasized on the geopolitical affairs in the developing
countries, there are shortcomings in his highlights. Collier does not take into account the historical
context of those countries. Collier too does not take into consideration the role of Western countries
in those four traps and the gaps in the available statistics about the poor countries. It is evident that
Collier utilizes information from discussions he had with African leaders rather than taking a
broader view of other people who have had experiences in those countries. Nonetheless, Collier has
presented a strong piece in his book The Bottom Billion.Collier also outlines four traps that are the
cause of the stagnation of the poorest countries, which include; increased conflict, the supply of
natural resources, and the characteristic of being landlocked, and poor governance.
Notably, conflict is the first trap cited by Collier. Increased conflict can be attributed to civil wars
in Africa. Thus, conflict impedes growth due to the costs associated with the civil wars. A
significant percentage of the citizens of the poorest countries have experienced civil wars. Collier
recommends the use of military forces to intervene in civil wars and restore order within those
countries.

The Nuremberg Code Of Ethical Principles For Human...
The Nuremberg Code of Ethics is in a sense a set of ethical researched principles for human
experimentation. The Nuremberg Code was created after the second World. This ethical code was
created based upon the human experimentations that the Axis Powers conducted during the war.
The code gives the principles against the methods used by the Nazis in their participation in human
experimentations. The Nuremberg Code stresses the general core of what is and what is not
voluntary consent and is in practice to prevent the abuse of humans as subjects. The Nuremberg
Code is a 10 point statement that in short basically says that all participation in research must be
voluntary. The person involved should have the legal capacity to give consent, should be able to
exercise free power of choice and they should have the adequate knowledge and comprehension of
all the subject matter that is involved in the understanding of making the... Show more content on

This, in my opinion makes perfect sense. It makes sense for they re to have consent in not only
voluntary medical studies, but with other decisions in everyday life. As humans, living where we
do, we have the right to our own bodies therefore, before anything, there needs to be consent. The
remaining codes also provide insight on what regulates voluntary consent, such as the following
principle stating that the results if the research must be for the good of society and inaccessible to
any other means. Also, the study must be based on the information provided by the results of
animal experimentation, natural history if the disease or any other circumstances to be studied. The
next code is that the experiment must avoid all unnecessary suffering. Next, the code states that the
study cannot include death or disabling injuries as a result. The

Media Sources
Media sources are not the best thing to think about when you want to be informed with news and

source s effect people and our society.
Media sources can manipulate people s brains to think differently about different people or
events.Media effects me in many different ways. Facebook, Instagram, Tweeter, and news outlets
all have different critics who state different ideas about a specific topic. The content that is shared,
occasionally, influences the way I think about the topic. Most of these, are on the Internet which has
all of the examples I stated. The Internet is the most voted thing people choose to get information
about events and other continental occasions. The Internet can be good sometimes, but mostly it
contains drama and cyber bullying. Every time I get on the Internet, I see people bragging and
fussing about their life and what they are doing. Not only it affects me it also affects our society
and economy.
The Internet affects our society as well by creating groups or cliques to take down a certain
objective or any other important phenomenon. By this action, it can influence people to do idiotic
doings and hurt themselves or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Teachers need the Internet the most because if they did not they would have no school well they

Beauty Of A Girl With Doves
Beauty Among Death in Gravestone of a Girl with Doves The High Classical Greek Period is
considered to be the Golden Age in Greek Art according to Art Historians (Pearson). This period
from 450 400 BCE held a lot of destruction because of the wars going between the Athens and
Sparta, known as the Peloponnesian War, however, there was also a lot of beauty during this
period because sculptures and architects made art that depicted victory over wars won, such as the
Parthenon. Despite all the madness happening during this high classical period, a peaceful piece
of art was born. Gravestone of a Girl with Doves is a Greek marble sculpturethat was found on the
island of Paros and dates back to 450 440 B.C. Although it has typical... Show more content on

Since this sculpture is a gravestone, I felt that the sculptor made this gravestone with a gradient
effect with the low/high reliefs in order to signify that the young girl was fading away into death.
A peplos, which is a typical garment seen on specifically women in Greek art, hangs over her
shoulders and seems to create a dragging down feeling to the sculpture since peplos is heavy fabric.
The peplos also accentuates her body without actually revealing much of anything, which was
appropriate considering the time period, the age of the girl depicted, and the purpose that the
sculpture served as, which is as a gravestone. There is no movement whatsoever, but there does
seem to be a subtle vertical line running through the young girl s contropossto stature.
An expression is worth a thousand words. The young girl depicted shows no emotion, which is a
typical characteristic in the classical greek style. It looks as though the girl depicted has her mind
somewhere else, which actually creates a sense of peacefulness since her expression is not one of
pain or discomfort . Unlike most Greek sculptures that are massive in size, this sculpture is smaller
because it depicts the death of a small child. According to the description besides this sculpture, the
doves that the girl is holding represent her innocence of childhood. They can also represent the kind
of person she

The Debate On Sex Ethics Essay
Under the topic of sex ethics, the morality of homosexuality is a widely debated and
controversial issue. One side of the debate asserts that homosexual behavior is against God s
will, and is wrong because we are all obligated to do God s will, God s will is expressed in the
Bible, and the Bible forbids homosexual behavior (Craig). This debate is called the traditional
Christian argument. Although the argument is valid, I will argue against the conclusion that
homosexual behavior is not against God s will and is not wrong, because the second and third
premises of the argument are not sound. The second premise of the traditional Christian argument
is unsound because God s will is not expressed in the Bible. Before stating what makes the second
premise unsound, I will consider reasoning one could give in support of it. Among the many
denominations of Christianity, Catholicism is easily able to support the second premise of the
traditional Christian argument from the Vatican s Declaration on Some Questions of Sexual
Ethics . The declaration strongly asserts that moral reasoning is not a human construct, but rather
it comes from God. God is all knowing and all good as his plan for salvation was conceived in
wisdom and love (Pope Paul VI). God delivered Christ to humanity to save humans from evil, and
those who follow Christ will walk in the light of life (PopePaul VI). Christ established the Church,
and the church is the pillar of truth, and transmits the truth of

Heather also has an aversion to opiates, as she does not tolerate the euphoria and confusion

With money, one can choose their own fate to an extent, and even help shape the path for others
around them. I believe that the Seminole Indian tribe is a perfect example of this. Due to their
large success with gaming, they have become a finically independent group that can now better
themselves because of money. Things such as education, health, and preservation of cultural are
now enabled due to the gain of funds from the casinos, but these positives do come with a price.
Thanks to financial freedom, Seminole artist have pursued expanding their knowledge of skills
and crafts. This new want for cultural expansion can be seen as a positive since people can now
focus on past crafts and practices. Unfortunately, due to gaming revenue, people worked on
crafts because they no longer have to work, while others stopped crafts for the same reason.
They no longer need to make money, so they no longer saw a need in making them. This shows
that economic freedom was as much as a curse as it was a blessing. Freedom allows one to
choose their own path. The Seminole tribe was able to find freedom through gaming revenue,
and it has had many positives in their tribe. However, freedom can also make people forgetful of
passion and hard work. Not to say that all Native Americans who have benefitted from tribal
funding from things such a gaming revenues are lazy. I believe that the majority will make the best

Argumentative Essay On Elderly Drivers
It is unfortunate, but the elderly are making the headlines daily, whether it is mistaking the gas
for brake pedal or failing to see an oncoming car before making a turn, and the list is endless.
Impaired elderly drivers tend to be the leading cause in fatal accidents (Kim, H., Ashton Miller, J.
2012). Elderly people tend to experience degeneration of their senses such as declining eyesight
including lack of peripheral vision, and hearing that can affect the decisions a person makes as they
are driving(Mihm, L. 2014). Elderly drivers should be retested for several reasons. As people age
their reaction time decreases. Another reason is that as people get older their vision often starts to

There is no magic age when someone needs to give up the rights to drive. Health problems are
common with the elderly. Which results in diminished driving skills that tend to slower reaction

keep in mind that a young adult can have a sudden onset of a disability due to accident which can

Capital Punishment Should Be Prohibited By Our Justice System
Death Penalty
Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is one of the most debated issues in politics. It is a
subject with a long and varied history; countries have adjusted their laws about it many times. The
methods of the death penalty have changed over time as well, from public to private executions and
from hanging, firing squads and beheading to lethal injection. Despite this evolution, there are some
questions yet to be answered, such as: Does capital punishment have benefits? Does a person s
religion factor into his/her perspective about the death penalty? What are the reasons behind
established capital punishment? could they be out of a desire for rehabilitation, or out of a desire
for retribution? Whatever the answers of these questions, it is basically a way to take a life. Thus,
Capital punishment should be prohibited by our justice system because it violates human rights, is
a savage way of applying justice, and does not dissuade criminals.
First of all, the death penalty contradicts with all religious covenants, and it is a hypocrisy of our
beliefs, which aim to safeguard human rights and dignity. Our society has many kinds of biases
and prejudices, and these serve as filters that determine which murders are investigated seriously,

The Privatization Of Temporary Assistance For Needy...
Introduction The privatization of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) services has
occurred in all except one of 50 states (McConnell, Burwick, Perez Johnson, Winston, 2003).
There are substantial differences as to the size and extent of services that are privatized. This
paper will first, analyze study provided by the Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. (MPR) to
discuss the benefits and conversely the problems of contracting out. Secondly, this paper will
discuss important factors and pitfalls towards contracting effectiveness. Finally, this paper will
recommend contracting out while recommending assurances for accountability. Background Over
the past two decades, the contracting out of welfare facilities has grown and extended into new
services. In 1996, the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act
(PRWORA) was enacted into federal law (McConnell, Burwick, Perez Johnson, Winston, 2003).
The PRWORA began the stimulus towards the desire of having the privatization of welfare
programs. The act transferred the attention of the welfare system away from programs like cash
assistance, and instead focused on programs where recipients are situated with jobs (McConnell,
Burwick, Perez Johnson, Winston, 2003). The program also began transferring autonomy to states
so they may design in state policies that follow TANF. States as well as localities thus began
altering the services offered as well as the organizations which would provide the

The Black Of Black Is Ugly
Black is Ugly
Earlier in this century, Italians, Jews, and Rumanians were widely considered to be of different
even inferior racial stock compared to the almost transparently white English, Germans, and
Swedes. Just a few decades later, those groups were fully accepted into the community of whites
while Asians, Latinos, and most of all, African Americans have been reduced because of their
darker skin. All over the world, light/fair skinned people have seemingly been placed on a pedestal
while darker skinned people have been ridiculed, or worse, been considered ugly. Dark skinned
inhabitants outnumber the global population by 3/4ths yet among them there still exists a prevalent
notion of white or light skinned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More specifically, African Americans with their traditionally African features have always had an
uneasy coexistence with the European (white) idea of beauty. According to Angela M. Neal and
Midge L. Wilson, Compared to Black males, Black females have been more profoundly affected
by the prejudicial fallout surrounding issues of skin color, facial features, and hair. Such impact
can be attributed in large part to the importance of physical attractiveness for all women .
Colorism
Colorism is the term most commonly used for the phenomenon of non white people
discriminating for and against those who are lighter within their own ethnic groups. Colorism is
more specified and sophisticated strain of racism, which focuses just on superficial aspects of
human bodies primarily skin color. Notion of light skin in the United States of America is an
example of a location where colorism thrives: supremacy is almost automatically associated with
lighter complexion, so external characteristic is an indication of superiority. Colorism, in its
simplest definition, is a discrimination based on the skin tone. Colorism is a more concrete form
of racism, which is also defined as discriminatory treatment of individuals falling within the same
racial group on the basis of skin color (Herring Keith in Yancey, 2004).

The Four Gospels In The Bible
The four gospels in the Bible are the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The book that I
have chosen to focus on is the book of Luke. Referencing my reading review from earlier in this
week, my favorite Biblical story is, of course, the Christmas story. In my opinion, the book of
Luke tells this story in the most beautiful way, and has therefore long been my favorite of the four
gospels. In order, Luke is the third book, but the second longest of the four canonical gospels
(Wikipedia.org).
The authorship of the book of Luke is widely accepted to have been written by Luke. Luke was
an associate of Paul, so it has been compared to the many works of Paul, and the book of Luke is
held mostly in conjunction with the book of Acts. The two volume work is referred to as Luke Acts
and together they account for 27.5% of the New Testament. This is the largest contribution to the
Bible by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, Zacchaeus, the Prodigal Son, and the pardon of
one of the robbers crucified with him are found only in the gospel of Luke. Luke focuses on the

showed Samaritans as being the good guys, no matter what society might have thought of them.
Both the story of the Good Samaritan and the healing of the lepers are included in the book of
Luke (MAOG 236). I have always been a kind and forgiving person, and a large part of that is
due to my study of the book of Luke. But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to

Muslims should not be judged by their race, or what their past race members have done. Also,
many other people are persecuted because of their race. Such as Indigenous people who are being
stripped of their rights to live on the reservations that their ancestors fought for. Indigenous peoples
face many challenges and their human rights are frequently violated: they are denied control over
their own development based on their own values, needs and priorities (Combating). Your race

INVESTIGATION ON TURNING PARAMETERS ON MACHINING TIME AND
VIBRATION OF CARBON FIBER REINFORCED LAMINATES ABSTRACT: This work
proposes the investigation of machining time and vibration characteristics of machining
differently oriented unidirectional Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP). The carbon
fibers are oriented at 0, 45, 90 degrees during stacking process of laminate. The turning
experiments are carried out in Siemens CNC Lathe to investigate best operating conditions.
There are 9 experiments based on Taguchi s L9 orthogonal array are performed. The machining
parameters are Spindle Speed, Feed and Depth of cut and the output responses are machining
time and amplitude of vibration. The predication models are developed using ANOVA. To find
the best value of the regression model, a real time coded Genetic Algorithm (GA) using Turbo
C++ and MATLAB tool box GA are used. The result indicated that predicted models are
significant and the real time coded GA produced best value. KEYWORDS: Turning, Genetic

City Expansion In Medieval Europe
An inhabited bridge is defined according to Jean Dethier in Inhabited Bridges, past, present and
future, An interview with Jean Dethier , in Living Bridges (1996) as follows: Definition of
Inhabited Bridges: An inhabited Bridge in addition to its primary function of surmounting natural
or man made obstacles, be they rivers or canals, railways or motorways serves as an organic link
between two urban areas by connecting them to each other with a development of buildings
erected on the bridge deck to form permanent accommodation for various social and economic
activities. Thus, every inhabited bridge consists of two elements: the platform that spans the
obstacle and an architectural superstructure. In contrasts to a purely vehicular bridge, the
inhabited bridge provides a continuity within the urban fabric that is not only social and
economic but also cultural, emotional and symbolic at a point where a natural break would
otherwise exist. Indeed, it is both seductive and functional. Inhabited bridges are believed to have
emerged as a spontaneous occupation of bridges in response to a growing demand of building
land in cities and towns which were limited by defensive walls in Medieval Europe.

To understand this, we will explain the process of city expansion in Medieval Europe: cities and
towns in medieval Europe were often located alongside riverbanks since water was a main part
of life. They were also surrounded by walls as a means of defense, limiting by consequence the
building land. As the city grew, so did the demand for land. When the pressure became
unbearable, the city would create new defensive walls to englobe the new peripheric buildings.
One of the most compelling evidence is Paris: the city saw its walls expand six times between the
fourth and 1919, year in which the last wall, enceinte de Thiers was

Thimble Jellyfish Research Paper
The thimble jellyfish, or Linuche unguiculata is well known for the rashes it causes swimmers
while in it s larval stage. Most of the current research being conducted that I found was about this
topic. When released in large numbers the jellyfish often get caught in swimwear and let out their
stinging cells, causing a great deal of discomfort and pain to those affected. The thimble jellyfishis
aptly named, since it s shaped much like a thimble. They are very small, approximately 13 20
mm in length and radially symmetrical while in their medusa stage. However, the polyp can be
7.5 times larger, reaching up to 150 mm tall. They are equipped with eight short tentacles and
eight sensory organs. The thimble jellyfish can reproduce sexually in their medusa form, but they
can also reproduce asexually as polyps to form colonies. Males and females gather in the Atlantic
and the Caribbean Sea in large groups, during the spring, to mate. The fertilization happens inside
the female, then the larvae form in the water, or attach to one of the medusa s tentacles. They then
settle on hard surfaces to form polyps. From this point they can either reproduce asexually to
create new polyps, or they can break off into free swimming medusa. This breeding and creating of
new jellyfish usually take place from spring to late summer.... Show more content on

It starts with fertilization beginning in the female, it then moves outside of the female into the
open water. After it s in the water it swims to a hard surface where it forms as a polyp. Then, the
polyp undergoes strobilation to form buds that eventually break off into small jellyfish, or it
asexually reproduces to form more polyps. After that it takes a few weeks for the small jellyfish
to form into adult medusae. This completes the life cycle. However, since the polyp can form a
colony of polyps instead of forming jellyfish, it s hard to determine exactly how long the life cycle

Primary Causes Of Constipation
Review of Literature
Constipation is a common, yet complex symptom that may be idiopathic or manifest secondary to
an underlying disorder. While it is generally not life threatening on its own, constipation has a
significant adverse impact on the comfort and quality of life clinically affecting about 10 19% of
the American population at any one time (Smeltzer, Bare, Hinkle Cheever, 2013, p.1286). A
symptom rather than a disease, causation is defined as either primary or secondary. Primary causes
relate to the dysfunction of colonic motility, defecation, or both. Secondary causes of constipation
are related to medications, lifestyle, neuropathological problems, endocrine disturbances, metabolic
or may be related to neuropathological issues (Andrews Storr, 2011, p.16B; Marples, 2011, p.41).
There are two criteria that are used in the canon of literature related to chronic constipation. The
American College of Gastroenterology defines constipation as a symptom based disorder
characterized by unsatisfactory defecation due to infrequent stools, difficult stool passage, or both
(Gallegos Orozco, Foxx Orenstein, Sterler Stoa, 2012, p.18). Used for symptoms that are ... Show

The space between I look down and Till his straining rump among the flowerbeds (line 5 6),

his grandma in the 6th stanza. In the second to last stanza, the cold smell of potato mold (line

stanza says, Between my finger and my thumb / the squat pen rests / I ll dig with it (line 29 31).
That is Heaney saying he cannot dig peat or potatoes, but he will work by digging in his memories

younger brother. Seamus comes back from boarding school on a break, but it is not a happy one.
The unexpected death of his four year old brother occurred while he was away, and the poem
takes the audience through the journey. The poem has eight stanzas and is written with three lines
per stanza, with the last stanza having only one line. This makes the last line have even more

with the last word in the previous stanza. This also highlights the importance of the last line.

The Severing Nature Of Sin In Jenson s View Of God
Like any relationship, the relationship between God and his people requires input from both
parties. One of the ways to positively engage in the relationship is through prayer, however, one of
the ways to both actively and negatively engage in this relationship is through sin. Many historical
and social developments have shifted sin into the realm of ethics, however, for Jenson, it is a
theological concept. It is a theological concept in the sense that it relates to the active relationship
between man and God, which stems precisely from being made in the image of God. As a result,
sin is what breaks up this active relationship and community that God has established. Jenson
achieves this conception of sin by once again analyzing God s identity in scripture, specifically his

Sin is not only the rejection of one s relationship with god, but a rejection of one s relationship to
other human beings as well. The aforementioned good moral life is not an individual goal that is
separate from God or other human beings, it is a collective goal that forms a community that this
sin destroys. The severing nature of sin stems directly from the story of Adam and Eve: their
betrayal of God through manifests itself in original sin and relationship severing consequences,
there is a division between humans, in which the woman is directed to be ruled by the husband,
and a division between man and God, in which the people are banished from the garden of Eden
and its many blessings. However, sin is only a rupture, not a complete dissolution, of one s
relationship with God and thus, it is mendable and redeemable. Jenson states that what reunites us
with God is not any of our particular works or actions, rather what unites us with God is our trust in
what happens in Christ. It is precisely this faith and only this faith, this trust, that touches our lives
to the divine drama (Jenson

Different Training Methods Are Affective
Some of the different training methods are affective in there own way, but can they be used for
continuing employees? One of the great perks of having the business simulation is that it can be
used for all employees, new and seasoned, to be able to develop further knowledge. With
simulations they do not all have to be complex, like having all the business processes of the
organization. The simulation could simply have specific skills related to them. These concepts
could include communication, feedback, leadership and team skills, problem solving, decision
making, managing resources, budgeting, and the list continues. Essentially every department can
have its own business simulation game to learn the processes necessary. This allows the company to
move individuals internally and allow for growth within the company. Say they have an individual
who has been doing accounting for the company and want to promote them to finance manger, they
can use a business simulation game to have them better understand the tasks they will be
performing as a finance manager before having them go into it blind. Another example could be that
the company has noticed there is some lack of communication going on between the manager and
his employees. The simulator could enhance the mangers understanding of how to communicate
stronger, which can improve the satisfaction of employees. Being able to take the simulation and
adjust it to the necessary processes that the company is looking to use for

The Pros And Cons Of Bisphenol A
Carcinogens in our shampoos, additives and teeth rotting ingredients in our sodas, harmful
chemicals in our plastic items... In an effort to make changes in the items we purchase and use, we
opt for products that boast better safety, and less health risks.
So what happens when a product once touted for its safety comes into question?
The Lowdown
While it was once thought that BPA free plasticproducts were a safer bet, research is beginning to
show that might not be the case. Bisphenol A (BPA) is an industrial chemical that has been linked
to countless health problems, from endocrine, to reproductive, to neurological issues. When
evidence of these health issues came to light, BPA free products were a seemingly easy transition.
But now, reasearchers are looking to Bisphenol S (BPS), a common alternative to BPA that s used
as a replacement in BPA free products, and finding that it might not be a good substitute either.
In an article on the topic for Prevention, writer Marygrace Taylor learned more about BPS
similarities to BPA in its structure, and in turn, its effects, from Lindsay Dahl, the deputy director of

a screening to make sure they fulfill all criteria beforehand. One of the most common reasons that
make beauty pageants objectifying is that the contestants are judged solely on their physical

Many people believe that beauty pageants are objectifying since they often give young people
the wrong definition of beauty, however it is just showing them a glorified version.
Glorification is still a problem not it is not as bad as objectification. However some people like
to glorify themselves either in real life, or by using photoshop and other online editors to glorify
themselves digitally. Many people believe thats it is objectifying for each contestant to undergo
a screening before they enter to make sure that they fulfil all criteria beforehand, However this is
to make sure that it is fair for all contestants. It is also to make they all meet the standards for the
pageant. This is not objectification because it is mandatory for all contestants and if they
contestants refuse to do the screening they will not be able to participate. Hopefully after
reading this text one will know that beauty pageants do not objectify women. What people
believe to be objectification is more likely to be a case of glorification. Glorification is still a
problem though it is not as bad as objectification. Steps should still be taken to try and stop doing
it. Beauty pageants may have lots of problems but objectification is not one of

Bilingual Education Is Important For Students
For this investigative assignment, I interviewed three of my closest friends about their
perspectives on bilingual education in the United States. One of my friends, who I will call A, said
that bilingual education is important for students because it helps them broaden their perspectives
on the world. Students are exposed to learn different cultures and respect them, promoting
multiculturalism in our country. A said that if students were only exposed to English only
classroom setting, they would most likely be ignorant of other cultures. She also told me about
her experience when she was in an ESL program during her middle school year. She described the
program as useless because she and her classmates learned broken English from each other. She
somehow managed to get out of the program and put herself into the mainstream English class. My
other friend, who I will call B, stated that bilingual educationis helpful in developing a wider
cultural perspective and cultivating a person suitable for the globalized world. As a foreign born
American and working as an international student coordinator, she emphasizes the importance of
acknowledging and respecting different cultures. She believes that bilingual education can help
students to achieve better knowledge on growing multiculturalism in our country. My last
interviewee, who I will call C, also believes that bilingual education is important to cultivate young
minds by helping them to respect not only their own but

A Unified Thai Kingdom
During the 14th century, a unified Thai kingdom was established. Today it is known as Thailand
but up until 1939 it was called Siam. It is the only Southeast Asian country that has never been
under European rule. As archaeology studies suggests, 4000 B.C. was the time period where early
bronze metallurgy centers were thriving. Metallurgy refers to the science and technology concerned
with the properties of metals and their production. This development along with the cultivation of
wet rice gave the motivation for social and political organizations to make an appearance. Also,
research suggests that these new discoveries could have been transmitted to the rest of Asia,
including China. The Thai are linguistically related to the Tai groups in Southern China because
migration groups left from China and settled in Southeast Asia. Thai s date the founding of their
nation to the 13th century. According to tradition, in 1238 the Thai chieftains overthrew the Khmer
rulers and established a Thai kingdom in its place. This kingdom soon declined and a new Thai
Kingdom emerged in 1350, the Kingdom of Ayutthaya. The first ruler of this kingdom, King Rama
Thibodi, made two very important contributions to Thai history. One was the establishment and
promotion of Buddhism as the official religion and the second one was the compilation of the
Dharmashastra, which are laws based on Hindu and traditional Thai customs. The Dharmashastra
stayed as a tool of Thai law until the late 19th century

Explain the Factors Which Make It Difficult to Amend the...
Q. Explain the factors which make it difficult to amend the US Constitution (15 marks) To amend
the US Constitution, a bill has to go through a two stage process: proposal and ratification. The
proposal stage has to have two thirds majority in both the House of Representatives and the
Senate. Every successful amendment has started this way and even the failed ones. A proposal
can also be made by a Constitutional convention, which is a one off body which is put together for
a specific purpose, and this is called by Congress on petition by two thirds of the states. This
method has never been used. The problem with this proposal method is that the Constitution doesn
t state how it should be done and there is no mechanism. There are,... Show more content on

However, there are implications for ratification. Thirty eight states are needed for ratification.
The problem with this is that there are huge variations in political culture of states the South is
known to be Conservative, North East or West Coast is known to be liberal/Cosmopolitan, North
is known to be urban and industrial and the Midwest is known to be rural and agricultural.
Therefore, with the differences in political culture, there are demands for a nationwide consensus
which can prove difficult. An example of this was the Equal Rights Act which failed to pass the
ratification stage as it was 3 states shy of the 38 needed to pass the ratification stage. It was
argued that there was already the 14th Amendment which states the Equal Opportunities Act. But
the Equal Rights Act failed because it ran out of time there was a 7 year time limit and it took 10
years. The amendment process takes place contemporaneously, meaning it is based on issues
happening at the moment. There was also an economic factor which was said to prevent this Act
from passing. Big businesses would have had to pay out more to ensure both male and females
received equal pay. Often these corporate companies would have connections to politicians
themselves, to oppose the Act because the businesses had access to them and pressure groups did
not. The pressure

Teaching Strategies For Learning Style Preferences
It is in this article that Beck matches three teaching strategies to learning style preferences. During
which he attempts to link the 4MAT system, Dunn s LSI, and the Renzulli Smith s LSI to teaching
strategies associated to display individual learning preferences linked to the brain s hemispheres.
The 4MAT system and Dunn s LSI is teacher driven teaching strategies while the Renzulli Smith s
LSI allows student input into their teaching strategies. In linking the 4MAT system to teaching
strategies, Beck further explores why certain teaching strategies are more successful and
hemispheric appropriate when adapted to their individual natural tendencies. Student learning
tendencies are associated with left mode, right mode, or multi mode tendencies. Dunn s LSI
includes a wide range of motivations that teachers should consider when determining individual
learning stylesthat may include psychological and cognitive variables. However, Renzulli Smith s
LSI permits student to provide their input to list their favorite to least favorite activities. All three
LSI have significance, but it is ultimately the teacher s role to provide opportunities for each student
to unharness their potential.
The focus of this article was to perform research on the Preferred Teaching Approach Inventory
(PTAI) including psychometric properties. This was performed to determine students preferred
teaching styles impacted their personal learning styles. The research suggested that

Student Growth Mindset
A growth mindset for any student can be their key to success. Many students feel as if they can t
achieve the goal(s) that they have set for themselves when learning and trying to get passing grades.
How can the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) increase their students academic
performance? The AUHSD can increase its academic skills by encouraging students to having a
growth mindset. Students are pressured to make passing grades and know everything they learn,
but how can some students learn when not all students have the same growth mindset. That s where
parents should come in and encourage their child letting them know that they are intelligent and can
do everything that they plan to achieve in life. The key to success for any student... Show more

Students need to start letting themselves know that they can do what it is the desire to achieve
even when others don t believe in them so they can continue in the path of the success they planned
for themselves. In the article The Secret to Raising Smart Kids by Carol S. Dweck he states, I
realized that these different types of students not only explain their failures differently, but they also
hold different theories of intelligence. The helpless ones believe that intelligence is a fixed trait:
you have only a certain amount, and that s that. Dweck s statement brings out a fact that every
student in the AUHSD knows about. His statement referring to how students view themselves is
very common in Latino communities like the ones that every school in the AUHSD is in.
Likewise, bullying is also a huge impact on a student s growth in mindest. Not everyone of these
students have that one person that motivates them to increase their academic performance. This is
why everyone in school should encourage each other to reach that growth mindset. If we eliminate
bullying in the whole school district everyone would feel comfortable in expanding their
knowledge. It s something that no one wants to face because they don t have that full potential to
get to where others are. In that case, if we all come together and help one another no one would
feel left out and everyone would want to try and acknowledge the knowledge they would

We Bought A Zoo Movie Analysis
In the Dramatic family movie We bought a Zoo, directed by Cameron Crowe, Rosie Mee is a
very optimistic sweet girl who goes through life looking at the bright side of things. In the start
of the story when it is revealed her mom is deceased she seems to be the only one who is moving
on from her mother s death. When her unorganized confused dad Benjamin Mee asks her if his
doing anything right, she replies with Well you re handsomer than the other dads so that s good.
(Crowe,x;xx) Rosie goes through life unfazed by terrible events and huge changes. An example of
this is that her dad and brother Dylan can t accept or even talk about Katherine s death but Rosie
although probably sad seems very positive about the whole situation. Another example

Differences Between Horror And Horror Movies
One can find it challenging to discern a thriller from a horror movie; however, close examination
shows that these genres in their purest forms have diverse elements that differentiate the two.
Horror movies and thriller movies can share common traits. Horror movies can give the audience a
sense of thrill, and a thrillermovie can horrify the audience. Both genres rely on the fight or flight
situational effects. In the first or possibly even second act of the movie, the characters are
attempting to flee the problem, but are eventually forced into engaging with it. How these
characters react with the problem is where the two genres start to deviate. One clear way to spot
the differences between the two genres has to do with the protagonists. Although characters each
deal with the antagonist/antagonist s plan, the disparity is in how they respond to it. As described
by script editor Lucy Hay:
In Horror, characters frequently make active decisions that take them directly into the monster s
literal or metaphorical lair. In contrast, a thriller protagonist is frequently drawn against his/her will
into the antagonist s evil plan. In other words, the antagonist drives the action in the Thriller genre;
the protagonist is generally unsuspecting and would have lived a normal life had the antagonist not
kicked everything off. (Hay)
All horror movies must have a fantasy related aspect to them. To be pure horror, the purpose of the
story must be to invoke fear and dread and it

Analysis Of The Book Entanglement
The study of quantum mechanics has been ongoing for hundreds of years. The book, Entanglement
by Amir D. Aczel allows the reader to see the evolution of the study of quantum mechanics over
those hundreds of years from a fresh perspective. He offers an inside look at the scientists who have
contributed so much to the field throughout the years. In his book, Aczel humanizes the people who
we previously looked at just as names behind different theories, equations, and methods by
exploring their backgrounds and their own unique motivations to study quantum mechanics. He
shows how their work over the years built unto that of their predecessors. The scientists come from
different generations and places, but Aczel shows that they all share something in common. While
only some of them were aware of it at the time, all of their work would contribute to the discovery
and understanding of one of the most complex issue of quantum mechanics, entanglement.
However, even understanding entanglement was not enough to answer the question we still ask
even today, why the quantum?
The quantum theory we are familiar with today had not yet been developed when Thomas Young
was working as a physicist, but his work was very important to quantum theory. Young was
interested in many different academic fields in addition to his studies on light, such as natural
philosophy and Egyptian hieroglyphics. He was also a trained physician. Perhaps it was a good
thing that was not a very successful doctor,

Discussion
The present research was conducted to study the physio biochemical responses in mentholmint
types that differ in Cd tolerance and to analyse the effectiveness of three plant growth regulator
application. In general, kushal had higher growth, photosynthesis, constitutive mineral nutrient
contents, antioxidant enzymes activity, more Cd concentration in roots and less in leaves than kosi.
Comparatively SA application maximally induced these activities in both the cultivars, but to a
greater extent in kushal. Cd is a HM trace mobile pollutant that is known to generate toxicity in

In the present report, the decrease in plant dry mass in both types was in concurrence with the
decrease in rate of PN, which suggests that PN exert an important role in accumulation of
mentholmint plant biomass during Cd toxicity. Reduction in rate of photosynthesis under Cd
stress is also attributed to low chlorophyll biosynthesis and decreased scavenging activity of
Rubisco protein (Asgher et al., 2016). However, SA increase growth and leaf gas exchange
parameters in both cultivars.SA mediated increase in rate of photosynthesis in presence of Cd
stress may be due to increase in Rubisco activity which increased by SA application. Similar SA
mediated increase in growth and photosynthesis in presence of Cd stress in maize plants has been
reported by Krantev et al., (2008). SA application also show a potentiating role in modulating Cd
induced changes in both cultivars and these results are in line with the results of Choudhury and
Panda (2004) in rice plants. Optimized mineral nutrition is essential for normal growth and
development of plants as these are involved in numerous and diverse processes

The Ecosystem Of The Chesapeake Bay
The Ecosystem
Introduction to Basic Geography
Fig. 1.1
Scene in Fig. 1.1., the Chesapeake Bay is substantial in size; at roughly 64,000 miles, it contains
roughly fifty rivers and thousands of streams and creeks. It encompasses parts of 6 states, including
all of Washington, DC. The Chesapeake Bayis what is known as a watershed, an area that
contributes to the drainage to a water body, stream, river, lake or ocean. Rainwater that falls within
the 64,000 square miles that is the Chesapeake Bay will subsequently travel through many streams
and rivers, eventually making its way into the largest estuary system in the United States.
The Estuary System
An estuary system is the resulting collisions of sweet and salt fresh river water flowing seaward
and ocean water inland. It is an aquatic system where salt and freshwater are constantly mixing. An
estuary system is one of most active systems of the planet; it is a hybrid system that contains the
best and worst qualities of the ocean, river, and lake systems it conglomerates. Estuaries are unique
in nature because of their ability to be the most productive ecosystem on the entire planet; humans
have attempted and failed to reach the productivity that estuaries naturally grant. There productivity
lies it the constant change that occurs from the conflicting flows of fresh and ocean water. Ocean
and freshwater are measured largely based on salinity, or the level of parts of salt per thousand.
Ocean water usually

How Gamers Are Solving Science s Biggest Problem
On September 16, 2013, There was a shooting at the Washington Navy Yard, by a gamer named
Aaron Alexis. Friends of Aaron, said he would spend hours playing violent Zombie video games.
Role playing games with simulated violence are perilous for kids.
One of the reasons for this opinion is that they make games addictive. 59% of Americans played
video games last year. In the article, How Gamers Are Solving Science s Biggest Problems it
says, Games are made to be addictive... but that shouldn t be a surprise, they were designed by
scientists, to be so. Another example is that There is 800,000 playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
right now. That is almost the population of Detroit, Michigan!
Another reason is that it increases violence.

  • 2. Art Form For The Digital Age Summary Art Form For The Digital Age Summary Art Form For The Digital Age, by Henry Jenkins is about gaming expanding and how it s being considered a digital art. The growing game industry is said to be the most growing form of art in the economy today. The gaming industry has grown tremendously in the past century. It went from silent pong games to intense story plot and mind blowing real life graphics like Final Fantasy. Games are becoming more and more realistic, characters can talk, and blink, jump, wave and every part of the body moves like a real person can. Parental advisory is a big part of these games. In this new generation of video games, players can blow up enemies and rip them apart. Games are so realistic that some... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 14th Amendment protects your right as a Naturalized Born Citizen and you CAN NOT be deported. The only way you can be deported as a citizen is if the government can prove that your citizenship had some mistakes (such as being born outside of USA instead of in the USA, or false information in your citizenship application), which is quite hard to prove if you have your birth certificate. • 4. Atoms for Peace Analysis Essay Dwight D Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States from 1953 1960, is revered as a statesman and great military leader. Born in Texas in 1890 and raised in Kansas to a family that valued education, Eisenhower began a long career as a leader and military officer upon his graduation in 1915 from West Point. Eisenhower is recognized for his leadership and oratorical skills which he applied to both military endeavors and managing the nation. He was fortunate to be mentored by General Fox Conner, in the Panama Canal Zone. Conner encouraged him to study important works of history, military science, and philosophy which Eisenhower applied to his own efforts and experiences. Eisenhower later moved up the military ranks to five star... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The audience s biases and beliefs both impeded and helped Eisenhower s proposal. Eisenhower s diction was appropriate for his audience; though he used some jargon, the members were able to understand because of their level of knowledge. His appeals, mostly to pathos and ethos, were effective. He established ethos by addressing the meeting with France and Great Britain, and through his position as President. Eisenhower s use of rhetoric allowed his audience to be receptive to his argument. In Eisenhower s introduction he does not construct the reality and frame the question effectively. He does not make his purpose clear in his introduction either. Even though in the first paragraph Dwight mentions that his speech will be about the issues of society today, he does not mention those issues much farther in the text. The structure of his arguments contribute to his persuasion. Eisenhower would begin by telling the audience what the issues at hand are, then would say his solution to each problem. For example, around the 21st paragraph, Eisenhower uses a first, second and finally method. In those, he states some issues such as, the knowledge now possessed by several nations will eventually be shared by others possibly all others. Then Dwight goes to suggest the solution or solutions to the previously stated problems. Also, throughout the piece, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Memo of Dollar General Relevant Economic Trends With the exception of supercenters such as Costco and BJ s, the fastest growing portion of the overall retail industry in the United States during the past decade has been in the dollar store segment. From 2000 2005 dollar stores had a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.2% which was nearly double the 5.6% CAGR in the retail industry as a whole. Sales from these discount stores were $24.7 billion in 2000 and were expected to more than double to $51.1 billion in 2009 (Exhibit 8). Two main drivers fueled this growth trend. The first was a cultural shift in consumers towards a bargain based mentality. This was spurred by an increased presence of retailers with a low cost strategy including Wal Mart,... They emphasize the use of even dollar prices on most items to conveniently make it easy for customers to track how much they are spending before they get to the checkout line. This coupled with their focused assortment of quality goods allows easy in and out shopping and saves the customer time. DG competes against big box retailers such as Wal Mart through price and convenience rather than price and selection. The average DG store is 6,900 square feet with about 4,900 stock keeping units (SKUs) serving customers who live within five miles of the store. The average Wal Mart on the other hand is over 100,000 square feet containing more than 75,000 SKUs and serves many customers living more than five miles away. Strategically limiting the number of brands and sizes as well as purchasing fast turning SKUs gives DG the leverage to negotiate low purchase prices when bargaining with suppliers based on the higher volume of individual SKUs being purchased. This allows them to offer competitive prices while achieving price parity with big box retailers selling the same items and on occasion even beating these competitor s prices. Focusing on both price and convenience also allows DG to compete and differentiate themselves from other small convenience, discount, and drugstore retailers who typically focus on either price or convenience but ... It is an anthropological memoir of the experiences of the author under the tutelage of the Yaqui Indian Sorcerer (brujo) don Juan Matus in Sonora, Mexico from 1960 to 1965. The book was written by Castaneda as his Master s thesis in the school of anthropology at the University of California Los Angeles, and was published by the university in 1968. • 9. Conflict And Conflict In The Bottom Billion By John Collier In The Bottom Billion by Collier, he persuasively explains the reasons unindustrialized countries are developing at low rates. In addition, Collier proposes policies in an effort to get away from the sluggishness. Even though Collier has emphasized on the geopolitical affairs in the developing countries, there are shortcomings in his highlights. Collier does not take into account the historical context of those countries. Collier too does not take into consideration the role of Western countries in those four traps and the gaps in the available statistics about the poor countries. It is evident that Collier utilizes information from discussions he had with African leaders rather than taking a broader view of other people who have had experiences in those countries. Nonetheless, Collier has presented a strong piece in his book The Bottom Billion.Collier also outlines four traps that are the cause of the stagnation of the poorest countries, which include; increased conflict, the supply of natural resources, and the characteristic of being landlocked, and poor governance. Notably, conflict is the first trap cited by Collier. Increased conflict can be attributed to civil wars in Africa. Thus, conflict impedes growth due to the costs associated with the civil wars. A significant percentage of the citizens of the poorest countries have experienced civil wars. Collier recommends the use of military forces to intervene in civil wars and restore order within those countries. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Nuremberg Code was created after the second World. This ethical code was created based upon the human experimentations that the Axis Powers conducted during the war. The code gives the principles against the methods used by the Nazis in their participation in human experimentations. The Nuremberg Code stresses the general core of what is and what is not voluntary consent and is in practice to prevent the abuse of humans as subjects. The Nuremberg Code is a 10 point statement that in short basically says that all participation in research must be voluntary. Beauty Of A Girl With Doves Beauty Among Death in Gravestone of a Girl with Doves The High Classical Greek Period is considered to be the Golden Age in Greek Art according to Art Historians (Pearson). This period from 450 400 BCE held a lot of destruction because of the wars going between the Athens and Sparta, known as the Peloponnesian War, however, there was also a lot of beauty during this period because sculptures and architects made art that depicted victory over wars won, such as the Parthenon. Despite all the madness happening during this high classical period, a peaceful piece of art was born. Since this sculpture is a gravestone, I felt that the sculptor made this gravestone with a gradient effect with the low/high reliefs in order to signify that the young girl was fading away into death. A peplos, which is a typical garment seen on specifically women in Greek art, hangs over her shoulders and seems to create a dragging down feeling to the sculpture since peplos is heavy fabric. The peplos also accentuates her body without actually revealing much of anything, which was appropriate considering the time period, the age of the girl depicted, and the purpose that the sculpture served as, which is as a gravestone. There is no movement whatsoever, but there does seem to be a subtle vertical line running through the young girl s contropossto stature. An expression is worth a thousand words. The young girl depicted shows no emotion, which is a typical characteristic in the classical greek style. It looks as though the girl depicted has her mind somewhere else, which actually creates a sense of peacefulness since her expression is not one of pain or discomfort . Unlike most Greek sculptures that are massive in size, this sculpture is smaller because it depicts the death of a small child. According to the description besides this sculpture, the doves that the girl is holding represent her innocence of childhood. They can also represent the kind of person she ... • 16. The Debate On Sex Ethics Essay Under the topic of sex ethics, the morality of homosexuality is a widely debated and controversial issue. One side of the debate asserts that homosexual behavior is against God s will, and is wrong because we are all obligated to do God s will, God s will is expressed in the Bible, and the Bible forbids homosexual behavior (Craig). This debate is called the traditional Christian argument. Although the argument is valid, I will argue against the conclusion that homosexual behavior is not against God s will and is not wrong, because the second and third premises of the argument are not sound. The second premise of the traditional Christian argument is unsound because God s will is not expressed in the Bible. Before stating what makes the second premise unsound, I will consider reasoning one could give in support of it. Among the many denominations of Christianity, Catholicism is easily able to support the second premise of the traditional Christian argument from the Vatican s Declaration on Some Questions of Sexual Ethics . The declaration strongly asserts that moral reasoning is not a human construct, but rather it comes from God. God is all knowing and all good as his plan for salvation was conceived in wisdom and love (Pope Paul VI). God delivered Christ to humanity to save humans from evil, and those who follow Christ will walk in the light of life (PopePaul VI). With money, one can choose their own fate to an extent, and even help shape the path for others around them. I believe that the Seminole Indian tribe is a perfect example of this. Due to their large success with gaming, they have become a finically independent group that can now better themselves because of money. Things such as education, health, and preservation of cultural are now enabled due to the gain of funds from the casinos, but these positives do come with a price. Thanks to financial freedom, Seminole artist have pursued expanding their knowledge of skills and crafts. This new want for cultural expansion can be seen as a positive since people can now focus on past crafts and practices. Unfortunately, due to gaming revenue, people worked on crafts because they no longer have to work, while others stopped crafts for the same reason. They no longer need to make money, so they no longer saw a need in making them. This shows that economic freedom was as much as a curse as it was a blessing. Freedom allows one to choose their own path. The Seminole tribe was able to find freedom through gaming revenue, and it has had many positives in their tribe. However, freedom can also make people forgetful of passion and hard work. Not to say that all Native Americans who have benefitted from tribal funding from things such a gaming revenues are lazy. I believe that the majority will make the best choice at the end of the day. Hopefully the money earn through gaming does not lead to a downfall in such a respected ... Argumentative Essay On Elderly Drivers It is unfortunate, but the elderly are making the headlines daily, whether it is mistaking the gas for brake pedal or failing to see an oncoming car before making a turn, and the list is endless. Impaired elderly drivers tend to be the leading cause in fatal accidents (Kim, H., Ashton Miller, J. 2012). Elderly people tend to experience degeneration of their senses such as declining eyesight including lack of peripheral vision, and hearing that can affect the decisions a person makes as they are driving(Mihm, L. 2014). Elderly drivers should be retested for several reasons. As people age their reaction time decreases. Another reason is that as people get older their vision often starts to deteriorate along with their hearing. I believe that if we retest elderly people then it will help save their lives and the... • 21. Capital Punishment Should Be Prohibited By Our Justice System Death Penalty Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is one of the most debated issues in politics. It is a subject with a long and varied history; countries have adjusted their laws about it many times. The methods of the death penalty have changed over time as well, from public to private executions and from hanging, firing squads and beheading to lethal injection. Despite this evolution, there are some questions yet to be answered, such as: Does capital punishment have benefits? Does a person s religion factor into his/her perspective about the death penalty? What are the reasons behind established capital punishment? could they be out of a desire for rehabilitation, or out of a desire for retribution? Whatever the answers of these questions, it is basically a way to take a life. Thus, Capital punishment should be prohibited by our justice system because it violates human rights, is a savage way of applying justice, and does not dissuade criminals. First of all, the death penalty contradicts with all religious covenants, and it is a hypocrisy of our beliefs, which aim to safeguard human rights and dignity. Our society has many kinds of biases and prejudices, and these serve as filters that determine which murders are investigated seriously, which ones are brought to trial, which ones are prosecuted as death penalty cases, which ones are being pressured by public opinion and politicians and media for death sentences, which ones will have adequate defense attorneys, ... Introduction The privatization of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) services has occurred in all except one of 50 states (McConnell, Burwick, Perez Johnson, Winston, 2003). There are substantial differences as to the size and extent of services that are privatized. This paper will first, analyze study provided by the Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. (MPR) to discuss the benefits and conversely the problems of contracting out. Secondly, this paper will discuss important factors and pitfalls towards contracting effectiveness. Finally, this paper will recommend contracting out while recommending assurances for accountability. Background Over the past two decades, the contracting out of welfare facilities has grown and extended into new services. In 1996, the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) was enacted into federal law (McConnell, Burwick, Perez Johnson, Winston, 2003). The PRWORA began the stimulus towards the desire of having the privatization of welfare programs. The act transferred the attention of the welfare system away from programs like cash assistance, and instead focused on programs where recipients are situated with jobs (McConnell, Burwick, Perez Johnson, Winston, 2003). In my opinion, the book of Luke tells this story in the most beautiful way, and has therefore long been my favorite of the four gospels. In order, Luke is the third book, but the second longest of the four canonical gospels (Wikipedia.org). The authorship of the book of Luke is widely accepted to have been written by Luke. Luke was an associate of Paul, so it has been compared to the many works of Paul, and the book of Luke is held mostly in conjunction with the book of Acts. City Expansion In Medieval Europe An inhabited bridge is defined according to Jean Dethier in Inhabited Bridges, past, present and future, An interview with Jean Dethier , in Living Bridges (1996) as follows: Definition of Inhabited Bridges: An inhabited Bridge in addition to its primary function of surmounting natural or man made obstacles, be they rivers or canals, railways or motorways serves as an organic link between two urban areas by connecting them to each other with a development of buildings erected on the bridge deck to form permanent accommodation for various social and economic activities. Thus, every inhabited bridge consists of two elements: the platform that spans the obstacle and an architectural superstructure. In contrasts to a purely vehicular bridge, the inhabited bridge provides a continuity within the urban fabric that is not only social and economic but also cultural, emotional and symbolic at a point where a natural break would otherwise exist. Indeed, it is both seductive and functional. Most of the current research being conducted that I found was about this topic. When released in large numbers the jellyfish often get caught in swimwear and let out their stinging cells, causing a great deal of discomfort and pain to those affected. The thimble jellyfishis aptly named, since it s shaped much like a thimble. They are very small, approximately 13 20 mm in length and radially symmetrical while in their medusa stage. However, the polyp can be 7.5 times larger, reaching up to 150 mm tall. They are equipped with eight short tentacles and eight sensory organs. The thimble jellyfish can reproduce sexually in their medusa form, but they can also reproduce asexually as polyps to form colonies. Males and females gather in the Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea in large groups, during the spring, to mate. The fertilization happens inside the female, then the larvae form in the water, or attach to one of the medusa s tentacles. They then settle on hard surfaces to form polyps. From this point they can either reproduce asexually to create new polyps, or they can break off into free swimming medusa. Many historical and social developments have shifted sin into the realm of ethics, however, for Jenson, it is a theological concept. It is a theological concept in the sense that it relates to the active relationship between man and God, which stems precisely from being made in the image of God. The severing nature of sin stems directly from the story of Adam and Eve: their betrayal of God through manifests itself in original sin and relationship severing consequences, there is a division between humans, in which the woman is directed to be ruled by the husband, and a division between man and God, in which the people are banished from the garden of Eden and its many blessings. Jenson states that what reunites us with God is not any of our particular works or actions, rather what unites us with God is our trust in what happens in Christ. It is precisely this faith and only this faith, this trust, that touches our lives to the divine drama (Jenson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Different Training Methods Are Affective Some of the different training methods are affective in there own way, but can they be used for continuing employees? One of the great perks of having the business simulation is that it can be used for all employees, new and seasoned, to be able to develop further knowledge. With simulations they do not all have to be complex, like having all the business processes of the organization. The simulation could simply have specific skills related to them. These concepts could include communication, feedback, leadership and team skills, problem solving, decision making, managing resources, budgeting, and the list continues. Essentially every department can have its own business simulation game to learn the processes necessary. This allows the company to move individuals internally and allow for growth within the company. Say they have an individual who has been doing accounting for the company and want to promote them to finance manger, they can use a business simulation game to have them better understand the tasks they will be performing as a finance manager before having them go into it blind. Another example could be that the company has noticed there is some lack of communication going on between the manager and his employees. The simulator could enhance the mangers understanding of how to communicate stronger, which can improve the satisfaction of employees. Being able to take the simulation and adjust it to the necessary processes that the company is looking to use for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In an effort to make changes in the items we purchase and use, we opt for products that boast better safety, and less health risks. So what happens when a product once touted for its safety comes into question? The Lowdown While it was once thought that BPA free plasticproducts were a safer bet, research is beginning to show that might not be the case. Bisphenol A (BPA) is an industrial chemical that has been linked to countless health problems, from endocrine, to reproductive, to neurological issues. When evidence of these health issues came to light, BPA free products were a seemingly easy transition. But now, reasearchers are looking to Bisphenol S (BPS), a common alternative to BPA that s used as a replacement in BPA free products, and finding that it might not be a good substitute either. In an article on the topic for Prevention, writer Marygrace Taylor learned more about BPS similarities to BPA in its structure, and in turn, its effects, from Lindsay Dahl, the deputy director of the organization Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families. Bilingual Education Is Important For Students For this investigative assignment, I interviewed three of my closest friends about their perspectives on bilingual education in the United States. One of my friends, who I will call A, said that bilingual education is important for students because it helps them broaden their perspectives on the world. Students are exposed to learn different cultures and respect them, promoting multiculturalism in our country. A said that if students were only exposed to English only classroom setting, they would most likely be ignorant of other cultures. She also told me about her experience when she was in an ESL program during her middle school year. She described the program as useless because she and her classmates learned broken English from each other. She somehow managed to get out of the program and put herself into the mainstream English class. My other friend, who I will call B, stated that bilingual educationis helpful in developing a wider cultural perspective and cultivating a person suitable for the globalized world. As a foreign born American and working as an international student coordinator, she emphasizes the importance of acknowledging and respecting different cultures. It is the only Southeast Asian country that has never been under European rule. As archaeology studies suggests, 4000 B.C. was the time period where early bronze metallurgy centers were thriving. Metallurgy refers to the science and technology concerned with the properties of metals and their production. This development along with the cultivation of wet rice gave the motivation for social and political organizations to make an appearance. Also, research suggests that these new discoveries could have been transmitted to the rest of Asia, including China. The Thai are linguistically related to the Tai groups in Southern China because migration groups left from China and settled in Southeast Asia. Thai s date the founding of their nation to the 13th century. According to tradition, in 1238 the Thai chieftains overthrew the Khmer rulers and established a Thai kingdom in its place. This kingdom soon declined and a new Thai Kingdom emerged in 1350, the Kingdom of Ayutthaya. The first ruler of this kingdom, King Rama Thibodi, made two very important contributions to Thai history. One was the establishment and promotion of Buddhism as the official religion and the second one was the compilation of the Dharmashastra, which are laws based on Hindu and traditional Thai customs. • 45. Explain the Factors Which Make It Difficult to Amend the... Q. Explain the factors which make it difficult to amend the US Constitution (15 marks) To amend the US Constitution, a bill has to go through a two stage process: proposal and ratification. The proposal stage has to have two thirds majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Every successful amendment has started this way and even the failed ones. A proposal can also be made by a Constitutional convention, which is a one off body which is put together for a specific purpose, and this is called by Congress on petition by two thirds of the states. This method has never been used. The problem with this proposal method is that the Constitution doesn t state how it should be done and there is no mechanism. There are,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there are implications for ratification. Thirty eight states are needed for ratification. The problem with this is that there are huge variations in political culture of states the South is known to be Conservative, North East or West Coast is known to be liberal/Cosmopolitan, North is known to be urban and industrial and the Midwest is known to be rural and agricultural. Therefore, with the differences in political culture, there are demands for a nationwide consensus which can prove difficult. An example of this was the Equal Rights Act which failed to pass the ratification stage as it was 3 states shy of the 38 needed to pass the ratification stage. It was argued that there was already the 14th Amendment which states the Equal Opportunities Act. But the Equal Rights Act failed because it ran out of time there was a 7 year time limit and it took 10 years. The amendment process takes place contemporaneously, meaning it is based on issues happening at the moment. There was also an economic factor which was said to prevent this Act from passing. Big businesses would have had to pay out more to ensure both male and females received equal pay. Often these corporate companies would have connections to politicians themselves, to oppose the Act because the businesses had access to them and pressure groups did not. The pressure ... The 4MAT system and Dunn s LSI is teacher driven teaching strategies while the Renzulli Smith s LSI allows student input into their teaching strategies. In linking the 4MAT system to teaching strategies, Beck further explores why certain teaching strategies are more successful and hemispheric appropriate when adapted to their individual natural tendencies. Student learning tendencies are associated with left mode, right mode, or multi mode tendencies. Dunn s LSI includes a wide range of motivations that teachers should consider when determining individual learning stylesthat may include psychological and cognitive variables. However, Renzulli Smith s LSI permits student to provide their input to list their favorite to least favorite activities. • 49. Differences Between Horror And Horror Movies One can find it challenging to discern a thriller from a horror movie; however, close examination shows that these genres in their purest forms have diverse elements that differentiate the two. Horror movies and thriller movies can share common traits. Horror movies can give the audience a sense of thrill, and a thrillermovie can horrify the audience. Both genres rely on the fight or flight situational effects. In the first or possibly even second act of the movie, the characters are attempting to flee the problem, but are eventually forced into engaging with it. How these characters react with the problem is where the two genres start to deviate. One clear way to spot the differences between the two genres has to do with the protagonists. Although characters each deal with the antagonist/antagonist s plan, the disparity is in how they respond to it. As described by script editor Lucy Hay: In Horror, characters frequently make active decisions that take them directly into the monster s literal or metaphorical lair. In contrast, a thriller protagonist is frequently drawn against his/her will into the antagonist s evil plan. In other words, the antagonist drives the action in the Thriller genre; the protagonist is generally unsuspecting and would have lived a normal life had the antagonist not kicked everything off. (Hay) All horror movies must have a fantasy related aspect to them. To be pure horror, the purpose of the story must be to invoke fear and dread and it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Analysis Of The Book Entanglement The study of quantum mechanics has been ongoing for hundreds of years. The book, Entanglement by Amir D. Aczel allows the reader to see the evolution of the study of quantum mechanics over those hundreds of years from a fresh perspective. He offers an inside look at the scientists who have contributed so much to the field throughout the years. In his book, Aczel humanizes the people who we previously looked at just as names behind different theories, equations, and methods by exploring their backgrounds and their own unique motivations to study quantum mechanics. He shows how their work over the years built unto that of their predecessors. The scientists come from different generations and places, but Aczel shows that they all share something in common. While only some of them were aware of it at the time, all of their work would contribute to the discovery and understanding of one of the most complex issue of quantum mechanics, entanglement. However, even understanding entanglement was not enough to answer the question we still ask even today, why the quantum? The quantum theory we are familiar with today had not yet been developed when Thomas Young was working as a physicist, but his work was very important to quantum theory. However, SA increase growth and leaf gas exchange parameters in both cultivars.SA mediated increase in rate of photosynthesis in presence of Cd stress may be due to increase in Rubisco activity which increased by SA application. The Ecosystem Of The Chesapeake Bay The Ecosystem Introduction to Basic Geography Fig. 1.1 Scene in Fig. 1.1., the Chesapeake Bay is substantial in size; at roughly 64,000 miles, it contains roughly fifty rivers and thousands of streams and creeks. It encompasses parts of 6 states, including all of Washington, DC. The Chesapeake Bayis what is known as a watershed, an area that contributes to the drainage to a water body, stream, river, lake or ocean. Rainwater that falls within the 64,000 square miles that is the Chesapeake Bay will subsequently travel through many streams and rivers, eventually making its way into the largest estuary system in the United States. The Estuary System An estuary system is the resulting collisions of sweet and salt fresh river water flowing seaward and ocean water inland. It is an aquatic system where salt and freshwater are constantly mixing. An estuary system is one of most active systems of the planet; it is a hybrid system that contains the best and worst qualities of the ocean, river, and lake systems it conglomerates. Estuaries are unique in nature because of their ability to be the most productive ecosystem on the entire planet; humans have attempted and failed to reach the productivity that estuaries naturally grant.
