Free College Essays-The Notorious Metallica
The Notorious Metallica The band Metallica was officially formed on the 15th of October in 1981 by
James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich (Metworld). Metallica s genre is mainly heavy metal and thrash metal.
The band came straight from Los Angeles California. The current members include James Hetfield,
Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo. Older members included Dave Mustaine (founder of
Megadeth), Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted, Rob McGovney, and Lloyd Grant. All but three of the
members were born in California (Metworld). The other three were from Jamaica (Grant), Michigan
(Newsted), and Denmark (Ulrich). By far my all time favorite member of the band has to be their
guitarist James Hetfield. He is their lead guitarist, and I find his skills on the guitar to be amazing.
Hetfield started out playing piano when he was about nine, and did not pick up a guitar until his pre
teen years. This band in general is one of a group called the Big Four which includes Metallica,
Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax. This group is known for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So while playing what they wanted in the way they loved they introduced something new and became
highly successful for it. To me it is amazing to achieve that level in something you love. I love just
watching them play because when you watch their hands you will see them moving all over the frets
and so fast that the level of skill they mastered just blows my mind. I just find them as a dominate
group in the way they play and how they are perceived by other groups. Most rock bands these days
will cite Metallica as one of their greatest influences into music and so many have done so to the point
that Metallica was named the most influential rock band of all time. Kirk has also been listed in the
top 100 guitarist of all time even beating out some of his influences as a

The Great Gatsby By William Shakespeare
Arranged marriages have been instituted for centuries in order to link families together for wealth,
dominion, and peace. In the late 1500 s, William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet became famous for
its writing style and storyline. A true romance story consisting of defying the family s wishes of an
arranged marriage to be accompanied by the true love of their life. In Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
love was a dynamic force that eventually brought about the death of both Romeo and Juliet. Nearly
300 years later F. Scott Fitzgerald explores the similar dominance of love in his novel The Great
Gatsby. Comparable to Romeo and Juliet many characters in The Great Gatsby exploit their marriage
in order to be with another lover. In The Great Gatsby the desire for love of an outside companion to
one s marriage inevitably generates misery in the lives of those who partake. Throughout The Great
Gatsby, Myrtle Wilson, Daisy Buchanan, and Jay Gatsby and all experience agony from committing or
contributing to affairs. These characters have such a desire for love that it proposes they would die for
it.
Confined by heartache and jealousy, Myrtle Wilson guiltily experiences anguish from her passionate
love for Tom Buchanan. It is evident that her marriage with George Wilson is undesirable from her
conversation with Mrs. Mckee, I married him because I thought he was a gentleman, she said finally. I
thought he knew something about breeding but he wasn t fit to lick my shoe ...

Lourdes Hill Schools Case Study
Point: Lourdes Hill College is an independent, all girls school founded in 1916 by the Sisters of the
Good Samaritan. As the school reaches its 100th year anniversary, the faith of the community and
school still lives on and has shaped who we are as individual Lourdanians. Evidence: The Sisters of
the Good Samaritans began in Sydney in 1857 as a result of a decision made by Australia s first
Archbishop John Bede Polding. The sisters were to live in the spirit of the Rule of Saint Benedict.
Explain: At the time when the Sisters were founded, women and girls began to lack food, clothes and
a shelter in the colony of New South Wales. The sisters ministry was the care of women in need and
visiting the poor and sick, however around 1880, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ir The Enemy Of My Enemy
Iran: The Enemy of My Enemy
The United States and Iran have one of the most complicated diplomatic relationships in the world. In
its desperate hunt for oil in the mid to late 20th century, the US government tried to secure its interests
in the oil rich Middle Eastern states, in some cases, creating wars and problems that have lasted
decades. In 1953, the CIA helped overthrow Iran s democratically elected Prime Minister, Mohammed
Mossadeq, and replaced him with Shah Reza Pahlavi, who supported American oil interests in Iran. In
1979, the Iranian people overcame the Shah, and in response, the US, UN, and other western
countries, imposed multiple sanctions against Iran, deeply hurting the country s economy and people.
Now though, more than 30 years later, the US and Iran may be brought together by a common enemy
of ISIS; an Islamic militant group based in Northern Iraq and Syria, that has been violently attacking
Westerners, and people of religions other than Sunni Muslim. The US should take this opportunity to
mend diplomatic relations with Iran, because Iran cannot singularly be blamed for the actions that
caused a cooling of relations. The present association and mutuality of the two countries is rare, and
Iran can help America s interests in the Middle East. Firstly, it is important to understand the history of
the American imprint in Iran. US backed leader Mohammed Reza Pahlavi reigned from 1941 to 1979,
apart from a brief stint in the early 1950s ( US Iran ). In 1950

Nt1310 Data Link Layer
The Data link layer [also called layer 2] is responsible for moving a message from one computer or
network device to the next computer or network device in the overall path from sender or receiver. It
controls the way messages are sent on the physical media. Both the sender and receiver have to agree
on the rules or protocols that govern how they will communicate with each other. A data link protocol
determines who can transmit at what time, where a message begins and ends, and how a receiver
recognizes and corrects a transmission error.
The data link layer performs two main functions, and therefore is often divided into two sublayers.
Logical link control [LLC] sublayer The first sublayer is the data link layer s connection to the
network layer above it. At the sending computer, the LLC sublayer software is responsible for
communicating with the network layer software ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The MAC sublayer software at the sending computer controls how and when the physical layer
converts bits into the physical symbols that are sent down the circuit. At the receiving computer, the
MAC sublayer software takes the data link layer PDU from the LLC sublayer, converts it into a stream
of bits, and controls when the physical layer actually transmits the bits over the circuit. At the
receiving computer, the MAC sublayer receives a stream of bits from the physical layer and translates
it into a coherent PDU, ensures that no errors have occurred in transmission, and passes the data link
layer PDU to the LLC sublayer.
Both the sender and receiver have to agree on the rules or protocols that govern how their data link
layers will communicate with each other. A data link protocol performs three functions:
Controls when computers transmit (media access control)
Detects and corrects transmission errors (error control)
Identifies the start and end of a message by using a PDU (message

Personal Statement On Animals Having Feelings
I am in total agreement with your statement on animals having feelings. They should also receive the
same level of respect as humans. In addition, some of your points are dear to me mainly referring to
how animals display affection. Regan (1985) states, someone might say that your dog doesn t feel
anything and so isn t hurt by your neighbour s kick, doesn t care about the pain since none is felt, is as
unaware of anything (p. 2). This statement would be untrue in my eyes because dogs or animals can
feel pain on so many levels. A perfect example is that we have a Jack Russell Terrier. He at times acts
like a human. When he was a puppy, we took the time to train him. Our dog not only learned the most
common tricks, but he was also smart enough

The Environment Of The Water Management Choices Essay
Introduction: Water and how it is distributed has become the significant issue of our generation. This
increasingly scarce resource is intrinsically linked to the global challenges of food insecurity, poverty,
climate change, depletion of natural resources which affects the livelihoods of millions of people
across the world (FAO, 2011). The water management choices that are made today will determine, to a
large extent, whether societies achieve economic and social development and environmental
sustainability in the future (Molden et. al, 2007). As the world population is on the increase water has
now become the key determent in the development and sustainability of current food production levels
and living standards both in developed and developing countries (Diouf, 2003). Such is the
significance of this issue, we find ourselves amidst a global power struggle for control and ownership
of this vital resource. This struggle is most evident in developing countries where water is fast
becoming a commercialised commodity regulated by corporate interests (Barlow Clark, 2002). Main
Body: Currently, world food production needs to increase by around 60% to feed a growing world
population (Diouf, 2003); (See Figure 1). Figure 1: Population growth trends for developed and
developing countries from 1950 2050 (Adapted from Van der Mensbrugghe et al., 2011) Food
production has intensified dramatically in the past 50 years to accommodate this increased demand for

Christian Worldview Analysis
Statistics and the Christian Worldview In the world of statistics, it can be argued that there are some
questions in how ethical statistics can be. Whether or not it is always truthful and what can be done to
make it more trustworthy to even those with a Christian worldview. This essay will go through some
of the underlying issues of statistics and how it can be incorporated into a Christian worldview.
Descriptive Statistics Nineteenth century British statesman Benjamin Disraeli once said, there are
three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics . When he made this statement, he was speaking on
the fact that statistics can come out skewed or if not properly analyzed can be slightly falsified without
anyone truly knowing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Christian faith, it is important to have good morals, give 110% in all that you do and be honest
and truthful in all that you do and say. In the Bible, one of the 10 commandments say that Thou shalt
not lie . Well when you are doing the things listed above, that is what is happening. So, in as sense
statistics goes against the Christian Worldview because it is not 100% honest in the results and can be
easily altered to look truthful when it is not. Statistics are hardly ever straight forward and can be
deceitful when not properly managed and processed. When confronted with an ethical issue,
statisticians should address the issue directly and honestly without giving the customer the false hope
that the problem will resolve itself or simply go away. Philosophers, since the dawn of civilization,
have developed approaches to ethical analysis. Instead of a detailed systems history and analysis, the
following general questions may be useful for statisticians to consider as a basis for ethical inquiry:1)
Is there a duty to act in a certain way that is recognized and followed by others? [(Ross 1930], 2) What
are the consequences of the proposed action and will it benefit the most people? [Mill 1971], 3) Would
my decision toward someone else, if it were made concerning me, also be acceptable to me? [Shaw
1991] 4) Would the decision be the same if it were published on the front page of The Wall Street

Photography Is A Moment, An Instant
Photography is like a moment, an instant. You need a half second to get the photo. So it s good to
capture people when they are themselves. This is a quote from Patrick Demarchelier, who is a french
fashion photographer. Photography captures a moment that won t happen again, so you have to make
sure you re prepared. There s a lot of aspects that come in when capturing a photograph, the most
important being aperture size, shutter speed, and the ISO.
One of the most important aspects of taking a good photo is aperture. Aperture is the hole that light
travels through in the camera. An easy way to understand aperture is to compare the parts of a camera
to the human eye. The aperture is like the pupil; how much light that enters the retina (camera sensor)
depends on the size of the pupil. Typically, larger aperture size equals more light, just like a larger
pupil means there s more light. So, the easiest way to remember aperture, is by associating it with your
pupil. Large pupil size equals large aperture, while small pupil size equals small aperture .
Our cornea is like the front element in lens; it gathers all the external light, then bends it and passes it
to the iris. Another important part of the camera that affects the aperture is the diaphragm. The
diaphragm is the iris of the lens that is in control of the aperture size. The diaphragm s purpose is to
block out all light that doesn t go to the top.
Aperture are expressed in f numbers, or f stops. They are a way

The Pros And Cons Of An Autonomous Car
Whether it is in a laboratory, boardroom, the halls of Congress, or at the precipice of a perilous
situation, weighing the value of one life versus another and making life and death decisions is an
excruciating process with no easy answers (Kaplan, 2016). Nonetheless, as the discussion about
autonomous cars and the ethical dilemmas they present rages on, I find it interesting that we are
insistent upon imposing higher moral and ethical standards on the programming and decision making
abilities of an autonomous car than human drivers (Parnell, 2016). Moreover, as we look to do so, we
are also departing from the ethical philosophy that has been utilized for many years to pioneer many
of the safety features, laws, and regulations to enhance automobile ... Show more content on

However, there was little discussion about the significant consequences associated with the human
driver s split second decision (Lin, n.d.). Moreover, when humans are compelled to instinctually react
to life threatening stimuli, their decisions are primarily driven by self preservation rather than a
cognitive moral philosophy (Taflinger, 1996). As a result, I believe the deontology should be the moral
philosophy utilized to address the moral dilemmas associated with autonomous cars. Subsequently,
manufacturers, scholars, and law makers should gather data assessing how most humans would react
in these scenarios and write code for autonomous vehicles to respond in a similar manner in these
excruciatingly painful scenarios. Additionally, utilizing an deontological moral philosophy would also
enable auto manufacturers and law makers to continue to leverage the same moral philosophy they
have utilized for the past 50 years, as well as the data from past crash tests and experiences to innovate
and regulate automobile safety features, such as, seat belts, crumple zones, anti locking brakes, air
bags, and automatic emergency braking systems given that each of these safety systems were designed
to protect the passengers inside the vehicle (Rynkiewicz, 2015). Consequently, enabling consumers to
reap the many other safety benefits of autonomous vehicles, while having a clear understanding that
when faced with a split second perilous decision, the vehicle will mirror the instinctual actions of a
human driver, utilize deontological moral philosophy, and attempt to safeguard the lives of the car s

Explain How Has The Extraction Of Copper Changed The...
How has the extraction of copper changed the course of history? Copper (Chemical symbol Cu,
Atomic number 29), is one of the best electrical conductors in all metals, has influenced the use of
telecommunications throughout the world. We rely on copper for a lot of things power, heating,
lighting, transport, communication, and even coinage. The wide application of copper in our daily
lives has made our homes, schools and businesses pleasant, decorative and efficient but also has
created negative impacts in our environment. Copper is usually extracted from sulphide ores such as
Chalcopyrite. Since these ores contain low amounts of copper, they have to be concentrated through
froth flotation before refining. The sulphate ore is first mined underground, and then bought to the
surface to be crushed. Pine oil is then applied to the crushed copper ores, binding copper compounds
together, but not the rocky material remaining. The ore is then put in a tub of water through the feed
consisting of a foaming agent. Air is then released bit by bit in the agitator, causing bubbles to form.
The water repellent copper compounds are picked up with the bubbles, making them float, letting the
excess froth flow over the sides, creating concentrated copper in the concentrate launder. ... Show

Froth flotation Process The ore is then heated with silicon dioxide, calcium carbonate and air in a
furnace. The copper (II) ions in the ore are converted to copper (I) sulphide, while the iron in the ore is
transferred into iron (II) silicate slag (Due to the calcium carbonate), furthermore, a majority of the
sulphur turns into sulphur dioxide gas. The equation used in the above steps is as follows: 2CuFeS +

Most Memorable Childhood Event
My Most Memorable Event
My most memorable childhood event was when I was 13 years old; it was the Fourth of July. A big
family vacation a barbeque, overnight stay and out of town trip to six flags, and I had a blast the night
before me, my mom, sisters and brothers packed our bags to stay the night over my cousin house in
Goodlettsville, Tennessee. She had the biggest house ever I thought it was a mansion; five bedrooms
two and half bath, a swimming pool, a game/movie room with a nice big kitchen. It was something
that I was not use, knowing that we stayed in a three bedroom based on an income apartment on the
East side of Nashville.
Arriving to my cousin house I saw a lot of my family members even the ones that was from out of
town. We greeted each other and we went on about our business. As my grandmother, mom, and aunts
prepared the food for the barbeque. The other adult gathered around different table s playing cards,
dominos, shooting dice, and watching movies or sports on TV. I remember me my siblings and
cousins played outside from swimming; sports, danced and hide go seek anything that you could think
of for children to do. When the food was ready we gathered together and said prey and feast. After
dinner was served everyone went to movie room for family time. We watched a movie called Madea s
Family Reunion by Tyler Perry. The Movie reminded me so much of my family. It let me know that
family is everything and no family is perfect. We just have to learn to stick

The Badger
The American badger is found in regions of North America from southern Canada and down through
Mexico. They usually stick to open grassland ranges.
Badgers Diet Badgers are carnivorous animals eating mostly pocket gophers, prairie dogs, ground
squirrels, pika, woodrats and kangaroo rats. They usually do this by digging the prey out of the ground
in their dens or chasing them down.
Abiotic Effect
American badgers have an effect on the abiotic environment with their digging. They dig to build
dens, and catch prey. Any badger you see has more than likely dug a hole. Badger holes are pretty

Some of the animals in the badger s diet include woodrats, prairie dogs, kangaroo rats, pika, pocket
gophers, marmots, moles, ground squirrels, deer mice, and voles. The badger is also a huge consumer
of snakes. In South Dakota the badger is the most dominant predator of rattlesnakes, making the
badger very important to the ecosystem. They also prey on ground nesting birds like burrowing owls,
and bank swallow. Some of the smaller things the badger preys on would be insects such as bees, and
reptiles like lizards, and fish and skunks.
Mutualism:
The coyote and badger is a great example of mutualism. Coyotes normally don t hunt in packs or in
tight knit groups but is often found hunting with the badger. The best example would be hunting in
prairie dog fields. The coyote takes the prairie dogs on the ground while scaring other dogs into their
holes where the badger is. When the badger hunts underground catching it s prey it also scares dogs up
to the ground where the coyote is. So basically the badger and coyote work together to corner up the
prairie dogs and eat until they get their fill.

Roles Of Women In Ancient Greek Society
Women s Place in Ancient Greek Society
Women in antiquity did not have an easy life. In an era where man rules, women have limited freedom
and few rights. Women s roles differed little from Rome, Egypt, and China. There were few
exceptions: women living in the city of Sparta had some nobility and rose to power, for example,
Athena, the goddess of wisdom and military victory. Besides those above, women of that era were
limited to an education, mobility, and their roles was housewives and childbearing. Women had little
time to involve herself in the political goings on in that era.
A woman s fate was controlled by the father and passed down to the husband afterwards. Women of
the antiquity were married in their early teens to older husbands. The marriages were arranged by the
Father s bride and often the bride did not meet the husband until marriage details had been worked
out. Virginity was valuable for women in antiquity, as well loyalty and fidelity. For a woman to

Flannery Wolter s Theory
1. Summary of Wolters Theory
Albert Wolters, in his article Fall from Creation Regained: Biblical Basics for a Reformational
Worldview, describes the whole curse of sin in the human existence by the sequence creation fall
redemption and argues that only God can redeem this currently worldly creation corrupted by evil as
an external parasite in the God´s perfectly created earth. In the first part, Wolters explains that the
original plan of God was to make earth to be very good, but then the original sin corrupted this holy
world affecting creation as a whole. (53) This was way, sin corrupted human behavior. However, the
consequences of fall extend further human behavior because sin also corrupted the non human things

Wolters theory applied to The Enduring Chill by Flannery O Connor
Absury´s life is an example of how the fall corrupts life s one and how human s behavior is what feeds
the sin that generates this fall. Asbury has experimented the consequences of sin in his life through
sickness, lack of talent and unhappiness in general.
Given that Absury shares the natural human goal of getting happiness, he tries to feel better using his
owns means. However, he does not achieve it, because he is not aware of the link between evil and
slavery due his pride. His pride made him do not even go to the doctor to save his own life, because he
was convinced that everything that happens to him overcomes doctors knowledge. Also, he thought
that only he could feel better doing something significant before he died. However, over the time he
realized that he was not going to be able to achieve a significant experience and have the death that he
wanted. This story is analogous to human behavior toward God. Asbury had the opportunity to heal,
however he decided not to take it, which caused him a painful agony. God gives us all the means to be
saved, but sometimes our pride makes us not take them and condemn our lives to sin and

Examples Of Father Son Relationship In Night By Elie Wiesel
The Holocaust came in 1933, splitting Jewish families apart and causing the relationship among the
individuals who remained together to change. During the novel, Eliezer and his father experience
many different changes in the relationship. Three of these included the average relationship a father
and son had, trying to convince one another that they would be perfectly fine, and eventually telling
each other the reality of what was going to happen to stop disappointing not only themselves, but each
other as well. Eliezer and his father, through the horrific events of the Holocaust, have provided an
insight on how a relationship was tested but remained strong as they watched others fall apart. Before
the Jewish community and families were ripped apart, Eliezer and his father had a fairly average
relationship. Though he honored his father majority of the time, he still dishonored him when he was
told he was too young to study Kabbalah, and obtained Moishe the Beadle to help him study anyway. I
succeeded on my own in finding a master for myself in the person of Moishe the Beadle (Wiesel 4).
Eliezer s decision to not listen to his father but to what he wants is an outstanding example of the
average father son relationship. When Eliezer and his father are put into a concentration camp, they re
still father and son; however, their relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eliezer and his father certainly knew nothing good was going to come of their situation and wanted to
protect each other from that reality out of the love they had. All the inmates agreed: camp Buna is a
very good camp (Wiesel 47). This is what all inmates including Eliezer and his father told one another
to protect each other from losing their sanity due to the tremendous fear they were experiencing. Both
clearly understood what was to eventually happen to them, and over time became too exhausted of

The dangers of teenage alcohol abuse are underestimated in our country due to the social acceptability
of the drug alcohol. The social acceptability of alcohol itself is seen by the frequency it is categorized
separately from other drugs and substances when we talk about use and abuse. Alcohol is a drug but
our nation and the media do not want to call it one or treat it like one. Alcohol is a legal drug abused
by many teenagers and this paper will address some of the issues today s teenagers face when dealing

Parents may think as long as their children are drinking beer instead of doing drug s its okay. People in
America do not want to wake up to the fact that alcohol is a drug and it does kill our youth. Youth
need to be educated on the affects alcohol can have on their bodies, and parents and communities need
to play a role in their education. Contrary to popular belief, youth do drink alone just like some adults
do. They drink to change their mood, alleviate boredom, and to handle stress. Many youth will drink
anything as they don t realize the difference in alcohol content between hard liquor, beer, or wine
(Novello, 1997). Even if teenagers attempt to read the labels on alcoholic beverages, they may be
confused due to obscure labeling. High school students drink 35% of all the wine coolers consumed in
the United States and they believe beer has a higher alcohol content than wine coolers. According to
the 2006 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), in the past year, 32.9 percent of the
youths surveyed from age 12 to 17 had used alcohol. According to the 2005 NSDUH survey, 74.3
percent of high school students nationwide had already consumed one or more drinks in their lifetime.
Many teenagers and children get their information about alcohol from friends and the media. With
these sources they do not have sufficient information to advise them of the dangers of alcohol
consumption (Pringle,

Chronic Chest Pain Research Paper
Chronic chest pain CAD is something that many people may experience at one point in life. Chest
pain may have stem from certain things; the most common is CAD. CAD or Coronary artery disease
is when the major blood vessels of the heart become hardened or narrowed with damage or disease,
like plaque or cholesterol containing deposits. As the wall is damaged plaque and other materials
begin to accumulate in that damaged area; as plaque breaks away the platelets will try to repair the
site, causing a blockage or narrowing of the artery.
When blood flow to the heart begins to decrease, the heart is deprived of oxygen rich blood. This may
end up causing chest pain/angina; it may simulate the feeling of an elephant standing on the patient s
chest. Chest pain can range from a dull ache, a crushing or burning feeling, or a sharp stabbing pain;
this pain may radiate down the neck or shoulder. CAD is thought to begin as early as childhood, some
contributing risk factors may include: smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes or
insulin resistance, sedentary lifestyle, and genetic disposition. ... Show more content on

indoor theme park known for having a trampoline park, trampoline dodgeball and trampoline
basketball. Matt wanted to celebrate his 14th birthday with a party. Maybe he wanted to try and see if
skyzone was an place to keep going to, or never go back. Matt and his friends started off by jumping
around in the main trampoline area, and they were doing flips off the walls of the trampoline like there
was no tomorrow. After the boys were tired of just jumping around, they walked over to the basketball
net area. The basketball net area has 3 nets, each net has a different height: one net that is 15 feet, one

Rough Draft Vasco Da Gama, a little known Portuguese man, discovered a trade route to India on
behalf of the Portuguese government. A feat Christopher Columbus was unable to accomplish. Vasco
Da Gama was a boy born in Sines, Portugal, sometime between 1460 and 1469. The actual date of his
birth is unclear. As a child Da Gama dreamed of becoming a pirate (World Book Online). He began
sailing after studying astronomy, navigation and mathematics in high school. When he was 15, Da
Gama went on short trading voyages to Africa (Larkin, 6). His hero was the navigator of Portugal,
Prince Henry. In an effort to be like his hero, he became a skilled sailor, able to navigate by only

For example, when he was mad, da Gama killed several people and took 3 prisoners. He caused this
tragedy because the king scammed him. The king scammed him by trading two bells and two gold
lumps for one navigator instead of three. You can see why da Gama was mad, right (Larkin, 14)?
Vasco da Gama thought he could trade caps and bells for emeralds and diamonds (Larkin, 9). He did
not realize that he was insulting the Zamorin, Indian ruler, and that would usually cost da Gama his
life, but he was smart and brought more expensive goods just in case.
Vasco da Gama had accomplishments that helped him in very many ways. One was to travel to India.
Da Gama s plan was to travel to Calicut, India. This would be his greatest achievement. Achievements
are crucial to the famous, without them everybody would be nobody. But also, there needs to failures,
otherwise you re inhuman. Failures happen to everyone, big and powerful, small and weak, they

The Fall of the Soviet Union
The fall of the Soviet Union Before one can understand the fall of the Soviet Union, he has to know
how the nation came into being and the leaders, and the location of the country and the time period of
its reign. How did the Soviet Union come into existence? Through the 1900 s the Soviet Union was
entangled in a vast number of conflicts all because they wanted to spread communism. Subsequently,
the rampant spread of communism and Soviet ideals had an impact in the First World War, Second
World and Cold War. Under the authoritarian control of Russian leaders the budget for the military and
various sectors clarifies that the Soviet Union in its existence failed.

At a convention known as the Geneva Summit Meeting these two men assented to the idea of
Gorbachev that the utilization of strategic weapons be terminated. As a result, they met again in 1986
at Reykjavik, Iceland to finalize the reduction agreement but it did not succeed. Although Reagan
complemented the plan, he complained because it would require a voluminous amount of money and
it would be a failure. Gorbachev wanted to get the USSR back on its foot and he formulated reform
known as perestroika, standing for restructuring and a freer system of politics known as glasnost or
openness . With this intention, the strength of the Soviets military expenditure had to cut. More
importantly, Gorbachev and President Reagan signed a treaty banning terrestrial missiles in Europe
known as the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces treaty. Due to Gorbachev s agreement to weaken and
withdraw Soviet troops from other countries, the USSR began to weaken. His alterations sparked
revolutions from many people in East Germany, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Romania in
1989. Above all, communism was coming to an end. In November 1989, the Berlin Wall of Germany
which its construction was initiated Khrushchev of the Soviet Union was torn down. As a matter of
fact, these entire events foreshadowed to the Soviets their rule was coming to an end. In 1990,
Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia gained their independence from Moscow and a year later the Soviet

Summary Of The Crisis By Thomas Paine
In his essay, The Crisis, No. 1, Thomas Paine contends that the Colonists should continue fighting for
their credences and strive for their Independence in pursuing freedom as an Independent country from
Britain. Although, Paine provides bountiful techniques, it is without a doubt that his use of examples
and religion are foremost in persuading the Colonist to fight. In his dispute, Thomas Paine points to
examples in enticing the colonist to continue fighting for their country s Independence. Using
examples, Paine attempts to give mettle and persuade the colonist into combat, energizing their spirits
and their hopes. He mentions, I call not upon a few, but upon all; not on this state or that state, but on
every state: up and help us; lay your shoulders to the wheel; better have too much force than too little,
when so great an object at stake. Let it be told to the future world, that in the depth of winter, when
nothing but hope and virtue could survive (Paine). Under all circumstances, Paine argues that no man
should be left unperturbed by the unsettling conflicts between their Independence. This helps
encourage all to take a stand, no matter the age or wealth, but to make change for future movements.
As weak as one individual may be, a robust and united army can utilize great and vidal impact towards
their contemplates. Furthermore throughout his disputation, he adds, My own opinion is, that had it

Cialdini s Six Weapons Of Influence
In Social Psychology, there are six principles of compliance that describe the tactics people use to
persuade or influence others. Also referred to as Cialdini s six weapons of influence, these six
approaches include reciprocation, commitment and consistency, social proof, friendship/liking,
authority, and scarcity. Of course, one can find examples of these persuasive techniques in everyday
life situations. However, if there is a single location where one can find examples of these principles
occurring at the same time, it would be at farmer s market. This past Sunday, I visited the Chattanooga
Farmer s Market peach festival celebration. While I was there, I noticed there were many different
venders attempting to sell their products. Each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also asked me if I liked each sauce, and asked for my thoughts about how each sauce tasted.
Naturally, since I love hot sauce, I agreed that all the sauces were delicious. Since I agreed to tasting
each sample and giving positive feedback I made it seem as though I was committed to the position
that supported the notion that each sauce was excellent. That would have made it more likely for me to
buy a full bottle of at least one sauce. This vendor also used the foot in the door technique in that he
had me agree to a small request (sampling hot sauce), and then presented me with a larger request
when he asked me if I would like to buy a full bottle. After this encounter, I was very convinced to
buy a bottle, but I did not do so. This was because I did not need hot sauce and I wanted to spend my
money on other things. However, if I had the extra money, I would have bought the hot sauce.
Scarcity The next vendor I stopped at was selling dog collars and leashes. I ended up buying a faux
Gucci dog collar for my dog because the vender used the principle of scarcity to convince me to buy
the collar. Initially, I approached the second booth with the intention of buying a cheaper, more basic
dog collar with no design. Then, when I encountered the fake Gucci dog collar, I was amused and
thought it was cool. However, as I was about to put to it back, the vendor came up to me and told me
that it was the last one he had in stock. He also told

The Structure Of Animal And Plant Cells
Question one: the differences between the structure of animal and plant cells
In general both animal cells and plant cells have the similar structures, however they do have some
differences.
Plant cells have a cell wall, this strengthens the cell,it also gives it shape and protects it from infection.
Plant cells also have chloroplasts which absorb light energy, this is vital for photosynthesis. Plant cell
also have a vacuole, however unlike the ones found in animal cells they are much larger. Vacuoles
store food and nutrients essential for the plants survival it may also contain cell sap, this keeps the cell
large and swollen with water. They may even store waste products for the cell. This can prevent the
cell from contamination.(1)
Another difference is the position of the nucleus in the cells. In a plant cell it s positioned on the outer
edges of the cell this is because the vacuole takes place in the middle of the cell. In a nucleus there is
the majority of the cell s. It also contain genetic material and DNA for the cell. (2)
In animal cells the general position of the nucleus is in the middle of the cell. Plant cells don t have a
certain shape however they do have a structure that resembles a rectangle shape, this is due to the rigid
cell wall they have.(10)
Animal cells on the other hand do not have a distinct cell wall, they have an irregular shape. This is
because animal cells do not need a cell wall. Animal cells also are eukaryotic cells, this is any

Carl Joyner Spoke To Analysis
Last Friday we had the pleasure of being spoke to by Carl Joyner who is the CEO, Founder and
President of Triose. One thing that was interesting about his presentation was that he didn t talk much
about his company or any jobs he had. He focused mainly on his philosophy, determination and
personal story. He started with a simple but meaningful message that has inspired him all throughout
his life. There s a better way to do it . He claimed that this little message is what powered him to be
successful and innovative in the healthcare arena. He talked of his time at Penske and how they
changed their supply chain to maximize efficiency and reach more consumers. Next, he covered the
Dot Com revolution and how it influenced his experience in the business world. I found that he was

a tool that clearly helped him throughout his life. These are just a few of the tools/skills he uses to

Carl Joyner truly inspired me with his talk and I am grateful that he gave such a good presentation for
I learned many things. He inspired me to study myself and know what I am capable of before diving
into some new endeavor. This is a very smart and safe way to operate because you know the flaws and
perks contained in yourself. I think that was his best point and my biggest take away. I look forward to

  • 2. Free College Essays-The Notorious Metallica The Notorious Metallica The band Metallica was officially formed on the 15th of October in 1981 by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich (Metworld). Metallica s genre is mainly heavy metal and thrash metal. The band came straight from Los Angeles California. The current members include James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo. Older members included Dave Mustaine (founder of Megadeth), Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted, Rob McGovney, and Lloyd Grant. All but three of the members were born in California (Metworld). The other three were from Jamaica (Grant), Michigan (Newsted), and Denmark (Ulrich). By far my all time favorite member of the band has to be their guitarist James Hetfield. He is their lead guitarist, and I find his skills on the guitar to be amazing. Hetfield started out playing piano when he was about nine, and did not pick up a guitar until his pre teen years. This band in general is one of a group called the Big Four which includes Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax. This group is known for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I love just watching them play because when you watch their hands you will see them moving all over the frets and so fast that the level of skill they mastered just blows my mind. I just find them as a dominate group in the way they play and how they are perceived by other groups. Most rock bands these days will cite Metallica as one of their greatest influences into music and so many have done so to the point that Metallica was named the most influential rock band of all time. Kirk has also been listed in the top 100 guitarist of all time even beating out some of his influences as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Great Gatsby By William Shakespeare Arranged marriages have been instituted for centuries in order to link families together for wealth, dominion, and peace. In the late 1500 s, William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet became famous for its writing style and storyline. A true romance story consisting of defying the family s wishes of an arranged marriage to be accompanied by the true love of their life. In Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet love was a dynamic force that eventually brought about the death of both Romeo and Juliet. Nearly 300 years later F. Scott Fitzgerald explores the similar dominance of love in his novel The Great Gatsby. Comparable to Romeo and Juliet many characters in The Great Gatsby exploit their marriage in order to be with another lover. In The Great Gatsby the desire for love of an outside companion to one s marriage inevitably generates misery in the lives of those who partake. Throughout The Great Gatsby, Myrtle Wilson, Daisy Buchanan, and Jay Gatsby and all experience agony from committing or contributing to affairs. These characters have such a desire for love that it proposes they would die for it. Confined by heartache and jealousy, Myrtle Wilson guiltily experiences anguish from her passionate love for Tom Buchanan. • 8. Ir The Enemy Of My Enemy Iran: The Enemy of My Enemy The United States and Iran have one of the most complicated diplomatic relationships in the world. In its desperate hunt for oil in the mid to late 20th century, the US government tried to secure its interests in the oil rich Middle Eastern states, in some cases, creating wars and problems that have lasted decades. In 1953, the CIA helped overthrow Iran s democratically elected Prime Minister, Mohammed Mossadeq, and replaced him with Shah Reza Pahlavi, who supported American oil interests in Iran. In 1979, the Iranian people overcame the Shah, and in response, the US, UN, and other western countries, imposed multiple sanctions against Iran, deeply hurting the country s economy and people. Now though, more than 30 years later, the US and Iran may be brought together by a common enemy of ISIS; an Islamic militant group based in Northern Iraq and Syria, that has been violently attacking Westerners, and people of religions other than Sunni Muslim. The US should take this opportunity to mend diplomatic relations with Iran, because Iran cannot singularly be blamed for the actions that caused a cooling of relations. The present association and mutuality of the two countries is rare, and Iran can help America s interests in the Middle East. Firstly, it is important to understand the history of the American imprint in Iran. US backed leader Mohammed Reza Pahlavi reigned from 1941 to 1979, apart from a brief stint in the early 1950s ( US Iran ). In 1950 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nt1310 Data Link Layer The Data link layer [also called layer 2] is responsible for moving a message from one computer or network device to the next computer or network device in the overall path from sender or receiver. A data link protocol determines who can transmit at what time, where a message begins and ends, and how a receiver recognizes and corrects a transmission error. The data link layer performs two main functions, and therefore is often divided into two sublayers. At the receiving computer, the MAC sublayer receives a stream of bits from the physical layer and translates it into a coherent PDU, ensures that no errors have occurred in transmission, and passes the data link layer PDU to the LLC sublayer. In addition, some of your points are dear to me mainly referring to how animals display affection. Regan (1985) states, someone might say that your dog doesn t feel anything and so isn t hurt by your neighbour s kick, doesn t care about the pain since none is felt, is as unaware of anything (p. 2). This statement would be untrue in my eyes because dogs or animals can feel pain on so many levels. A perfect example is that we have a Jack Russell Terrier. He at times acts like a human. • 11. The Environment Of The Water Management Choices Essay Introduction: Water and how it is distributed has become the significant issue of our generation. This increasingly scarce resource is intrinsically linked to the global challenges of food insecurity, poverty, climate change, depletion of natural resources which affects the livelihoods of millions of people across the world (FAO, 2011). The water management choices that are made today will determine, to a large extent, whether societies achieve economic and social development and environmental sustainability in the future (Molden et. al, 2007). As the world population is on the increase water has now become the key determent in the development and sustainability of current food production levels and living standards both in developed and developing countries (Diouf, 2003). Such is the significance of this issue, we find ourselves amidst a global power struggle for control and ownership of this vital resource. This struggle is most evident in developing countries where water is fast becoming a commercialised commodity regulated by corporate interests (Barlow Clark, 2002). Main Body: Currently, world food production needs to increase by around 60% to feed a growing world population (Diouf, 2003); (See Figure 1). • 12. Christian Worldview Analysis Statistics and the Christian Worldview In the world of statistics, it can be argued that there are some questions in how ethical statistics can be. Whether or not it is always truthful and what can be done to make it more trustworthy to even those with a Christian worldview. This essay will go through some of the underlying issues of statistics and how it can be incorporated into a Christian worldview. Descriptive Statistics Nineteenth century British statesman Benjamin Disraeli once said, there are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics . When he made this statement, he was speaking on the fact that statistics can come out skewed or if not properly analyzed can be slightly falsified without anyone truly knowing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Christian faith, it is important to have good morals, give 110% in all that you do and be honest and truthful in all that you do and say. In the Bible, one of the 10 commandments say that Thou shalt not lie . Well when you are doing the things listed above, that is what is happening. So, in as sense statistics goes against the Christian Worldview because it is not 100% honest in the results and can be easily altered to look truthful when it is not. Statistics are hardly ever straight forward and can be deceitful when not properly managed and processed. When confronted with an ethical issue, statisticians should address the issue directly and honestly without giving the customer the false hope that the problem will resolve itself or simply go away. Philosophers, since the dawn of civilization, have developed approaches to ethical analysis. Instead of a detailed systems history and analysis, the following general questions may be useful for statisticians to consider as a basis for ethical inquiry:1) Is there a duty to act in a certain way that is recognized and followed by others? [(Ross 1930], 2) What are the consequences of the proposed action and will it benefit the most people? • 13. Photography Is A Moment, An Instant Photography is like a moment, an instant. You need a half second to get the photo. So it s good to capture people when they are themselves. This is a quote from Patrick Demarchelier, who is a french fashion photographer. Photography captures a moment that won t happen again, so you have to make sure you re prepared. There s a lot of aspects that come in when capturing a photograph, the most important being aperture size, shutter speed, and the ISO. One of the most important aspects of taking a good photo is aperture. Aperture is the hole that light travels through in the camera. An easy way to understand aperture is to compare the parts of a camera to the human eye. The aperture is like the pupil; how much light that enters the retina (camera sensor) depends on the size of the pupil. Typically, larger aperture size equals more light, just like a larger pupil means there s more light. So, the easiest way to remember aperture, is by associating it with your pupil. Large pupil size equals large aperture, while small pupil size equals small aperture . Our cornea is like the front element in lens; it gathers all the external light, then bends it and passes it to the iris. Another important part of the camera that affects the aperture is the diaphragm. The diaphragm is the iris of the lens that is in control of the aperture size. The diaphragm s purpose is to block out all light that doesn t go to the top. Aperture are expressed in f numbers, or f stops. They are a way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of An Autonomous Car Whether it is in a laboratory, boardroom, the halls of Congress, or at the precipice of a perilous situation, weighing the value of one life versus another and making life and death decisions is an excruciating process with no easy answers (Kaplan, 2016). Nonetheless, as the discussion about autonomous cars and the ethical dilemmas they present rages on, I find it interesting that we are insistent upon imposing higher moral and ethical standards on the programming and decision making abilities of an autonomous car than human drivers (Parnell, 2016). Moreover, as we look to do so, we are also departing from the ethical philosophy that has been utilized for many years to pioneer many of the safety features, laws, and regulations to enhance automobile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there was little discussion about the significant consequences associated with the human driver s split second decision (Lin, n.d.). Moreover, when humans are compelled to instinctually react to life threatening stimuli, their decisions are primarily driven by self preservation rather than a cognitive moral philosophy (Taflinger, 1996). As a result, I believe the deontology should be the moral philosophy utilized to address the moral dilemmas associated with autonomous cars. Subsequently, manufacturers, scholars, and law makers should gather data assessing how most humans would react in these scenarios and write code for autonomous vehicles to respond in a similar manner in these excruciatingly painful scenarios. Additionally, utilizing an deontological moral philosophy would also enable auto manufacturers and law makers to continue to leverage the same moral philosophy they have utilized for the past 50 years, as well as the data from past crash tests and experiences to innovate and regulate automobile safety features, such as, seat belts, crumple zones, anti locking brakes, air bags, and automatic emergency braking systems given that each of these safety systems were designed to protect the passengers inside the vehicle (Rynkiewicz, 2015). Consequently, enabling consumers to reap the many other safety benefits of autonomous vehicles, while having a clear understanding that when faced with a split second perilous decision, the vehicle will mirror the instinctual actions of a human driver, utilize deontological moral philosophy, and attempt to safeguard the lives of the car s ... Copper (Chemical symbol Cu, Atomic number 29), is one of the best electrical conductors in all metals, has influenced the use of telecommunications throughout the world. We rely on copper for a lot of things power, heating, lighting, transport, communication, and even coinage. The wide application of copper in our daily lives has made our homes, schools and businesses pleasant, decorative and efficient but also has created negative impacts in our environment. Copper is usually extracted from sulphide ores such as Chalcopyrite. Since these ores contain low amounts of copper, they have to be concentrated through froth flotation before refining. The sulphate ore is first mined underground, and then bought to the surface to be crushed. Pine oil is then applied to the crushed copper ores, binding copper compounds together, but not the rocky material remaining. The ore is then put in a tub of water through the feed consisting of a foaming agent. Air is then released bit by bit in the agitator, causing bubbles to form. The water repellent copper compounds are picked up with the bubbles, making them float, letting the excess froth flow over the sides, creating concentrated copper in the concentrate launder. ... It was something that I was not use, knowing that we stayed in a three bedroom based on an income apartment on the East side of Nashville. Arriving to my cousin house I saw a lot of my family members even the ones that was from out of town. We greeted each other and we went on about our business. As my grandmother, mom, and aunts prepared the food for the barbeque. The other adult gathered around different table s playing cards, dominos, shooting dice, and watching movies or sports on TV. I remember me my siblings and cousins played outside from swimming; sports, danced and hide go seek anything that you could think of for children to do. When the food was ready we gathered together and said prey and feast. After dinner was served everyone went to movie room for family time. We watched a movie called Madea s Family Reunion by Tyler Perry. The Movie reminded me so much of my family. It let me know that family is everything and no family is perfect. The badger is also a huge consumer of snakes. In South Dakota the badger is the most dominant predator of rattlesnakes, making the badger very important to the ecosystem. They also prey on ground nesting birds like burrowing owls, and bank swallow. Some of the smaller things the badger preys on would be insects such as bees, and reptiles like lizards, and fish and skunks. Mutualism: The coyote and badger is a great example of mutualism. Coyotes normally don t hunt in packs or in tight knit groups but is often found hunting with the badger. The best example would be hunting in prairie dog fields. The coyote takes the prairie dogs on the ground while scaring other dogs into their holes where the badger is. When the badger hunts underground catching it s prey it also scares dogs up to the ground where the coyote is. So basically the badger and coyote work together to corner up the prairie dogs and eat until they get their fill. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In an era where man rules, women have limited freedom and few rights. Women s roles differed little from Rome, Egypt, and China. There were few exceptions: women living in the city of Sparta had some nobility and rose to power, for example, Athena, the goddess of wisdom and military victory. Besides those above, women of that era were limited to an education, mobility, and their roles was housewives and childbearing. Women had little time to involve herself in the political goings on in that era. A woman s fate was controlled by the father and passed down to the husband afterwards. Women of the antiquity were married in their early teens to older husbands. The marriages were arranged by the Father s bride and often the bride did not meet the husband until marriage details had been worked out. Virginity was valuable for women in antiquity, as well loyalty and fidelity. For a woman to divorce it needed the permission from a male member of the family (the father). Examples Of Father Son Relationship In Night By Elie Wiesel The Holocaust came in 1933, splitting Jewish families apart and causing the relationship among the individuals who remained together to change. During the novel, Eliezer and his father experience many different changes in the relationship. Three of these included the average relationship a father and son had, trying to convince one another that they would be perfectly fine, and eventually telling each other the reality of what was going to happen to stop disappointing not only themselves, but each other as well. Eliezer and his father, through the horrific events of the Holocaust, have provided an insight on how a relationship was tested but remained strong as they watched others fall apart. Before the Jewish community and families were ripped apart, Eliezer and his father had a fairly average relationship. Though he honored his father majority of the time, he still dishonored him when he was told he was too young to study Kabbalah, and obtained Moishe the Beadle to help him study anyway. Of course, one can find examples of these persuasive techniques in everyday life situations. That would have made it more likely for me to buy a full bottle of at least one sauce. This vendor also used the foot in the door technique in that he had me agree to a small request (sampling hot sauce), and then presented me with a larger request when he asked me if I would like to buy a full bottle. After this encounter, I was very convinced to buy a bottle, but I did not do so. This was because I did not need hot sauce and I wanted to spend my money on other things. • 34. The Structure Of Animal And Plant Cells Question one: the differences between the structure of animal and plant cells In general both animal cells and plant cells have the similar structures, however they do have some differences. Plant cells have a cell wall, this strengthens the cell,it also gives it shape and protects it from infection. Plant cells also have chloroplasts which absorb light energy, this is vital for photosynthesis. Plant cell also have a vacuole, however unlike the ones found in animal cells they are much larger. Vacuoles store food and nutrients essential for the plants survival it may also contain cell sap, this keeps the cell large and swollen with water. They may even store waste products for the cell. This can prevent the cell from contamination.(1) Another difference is the position of the nucleus in the cells. In a plant cell it s positioned on the outer edges of the cell this is because the vacuole takes place in the middle of the cell. In a nucleus there is the majority of the cell s. It also contain genetic material and DNA for the cell. (2) In animal cells the general position of the nucleus is in the middle of the cell. Plant cells don t have a certain shape however they do have a structure that resembles a rectangle shape, this is due to the rigid cell wall they have.(10) Animal cells on the other hand do not have a distinct cell wall, they have an irregular shape.
