How Did Walt Disney Get Ub Iwerk
It took almost two decades for someone to bring the same finesse to animation that McCay brought.
That person was Walt Disney. Disney s turning point in his career as an artist began at the age of
seventeen, when he was hired as an apprentice for the Gray Advertising Company. The CEO s of the
company agreed to give him a week trial run. By the end of the week, he had lost all his confidence
that they were going to keep him on but too much of his relief, he was hired on at $50 a month. It was
at Gray Advertising that he met Ub Iwerks. Iwerks was hired because he was an excellent lettering
artist. As a matter of fact, Iwerks was getting paid ten dollars more than Disney. During the time that
both men worked at Gray s Advertising Company, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around six weeks into working for Gray s Advertising, Disney was fired because the loss of a big
account. Though many would take this as a setback, Disney found the positive in it. He had gained
knowledge in how to maneuver through commercial trade, as well as making connections with people
who would help him later in life. Not long after Disney lost his job, Iwerks experienced the same fate.
So Disney proposed, the idea of going into business together. Iwerks agreed and Iwerks Disney
commercial art shop was formed. Disney took money he had saved up and bought supplies that they
needed to get started, but he did not have enough money to rent out a office space. So he did what any
desperate business person would do, he looked for an opportunity and found one with Restaurant
Association. There was one problem, though: Restaurant Association was not looking for artwork, but
they agreed to listen to his sales pitch. He purposed that they would do artwork for them for only desk
space and $10 dollars a week. The Restaurant Association agreed to his terms and designated an
unused restroom as their office, which included a desk, a toilet, and a sink. The two men, though they
had a lot in common, were

National Honor Society Membership Essay
National Honor Society Membership Application Essay Leadership, scholarship, service, and
character are not only values held by the NHS, but that I hold myself. I believe that because of this, I
would be a good fit for the NHS and would be able to strive towards improving my community,
support my peers, and seek out further opportunities to serve others. Leadership, to me, is not
necessarily always equated with a formal title, but rather it is characterized by the attitude, behavior,
mindset, and actions of a person. Being a leader means being positive and supportive of others,
providing them the opportunity to be heard and know that their opinion matters, motivating them to
accomplish shared goals through teamwork. Over the past years, ... Show more content on

Star Trek Influence On American Culture
In the 1960 s, it was common for families to spend their evenings around the television. They would
enjoy the broadcast media of the age, while also enjoying each other s company. This ritual became a
cornerstone of American family life. Television featured white families living the American dream;
something every American family aspired towards. Television was a vessel for entertainment, not for
challenging the status quo, but this would soon change for the better. On the evening of September 8,
1966, families with children gathered around their television, unaware that they would be witnessing
an event that would forever change mainstream American media. This event was the airing of Star
Trek. At the time it aired, America was immersed in the Civil Rights Movement. It was almost
impossible to imagine the country becoming a place where everybody, regardless of gender, race,
ethnicity, or beliefs, could be treated with equal respect. Star Trek was a crucial step towards giving
people hope, and allowing them to publicly see for the first time, the possibility of a better future. ...

The Five Major Components Of An Information System
Alfredo Rodriguez
Information system is a combination of hardware, software, infrastructure as well trained personnel
who organized and facilitate planning, control, coordination and decision making within an
organization. Information systems are also able to implement a vital integrated set of components for
collecting, storing, and processing data. With this, it provided organizations with the necessary
information, knowledge, and digital products needed. Information system bring the meaning of
business applications that manage their operations, compete in the market place, manage accounts and
human resources. This system have a vast variety of components that are crucial for a enterprise,

The five major components of an information system are as follows (1) to (5); (1) Hardware, multiple
computer systems: microcomputers, minicomputers, and mainframes. (2) Software computer software
falls into two categories; systems software and applications software. Systems software manages the
resources of the computer system and simplifies programming. Application Software is a program that

Examples Of Self Awareness In Fahrenheit 451
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Authoritarianism, Knowledge, and Self awareness in Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451
Background and Rationale
Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel published in 1950. The novel takes place in the
futuristic American society where technology dominates in people s lives. This is an era of prosperous
technological advances, but people s life quality is bad. The people live their life without knowledge,
wisdom, and self awareness. People are not critical because all books are banned, and illegal. The
people think the same thing and they look alike also. The government uses propaganda to manipulate
the people. Fear is the effective method the government uses to control them.

There are those milestone ages that everyone is anxious to reach. We can t wait to be 13 because we re

and drive on our own for the first time, a big step on the way to adulthood and independence. We can t
wait to turn 18 because we re finally considered adults, can vote, and even enlist in the military in
order to serve our country if we choose. Finally, and most importantly it seems, we can t wait to turn

step to adulthood that some don t even wait until the legal drinking age to consume alcohol. This has

The White House has released a plan with specific actions for the Federal departments and agencies to
help stop the rise of antibiotic resistances in bacteria. Antibiotics are very important for society. With
antibiotics it saves millions of people over the world. Treating bacterial infections and performing
chemotherapy, surgery, dialysis, and organ transplantation will become more difficult due to these
bacteria.
This bacteria causes an estimate of 23000 deaths and 2 millions illness in the United States each year.
Not only do they affect us but, they affect animal health, agriculture and, the economy. Potentially
thousands of lives would be saved with the National Action Plan. with this plan it suggests that for the
next 5 years it will help prevent major breakouts of the bacteria, and create new diagnostics,

Mexican American Culture
Every culture worldwide has its own communication styles and each culture can vary greatly in their
perception of time and how they orient themselves with time daily. To understand how these styles
and perceptions can impact nursing care; this paper will examine communication style and time
orientation of the Mexican culture, and to increase awareness to these issues to guide nurses to provide
culturally educated care. The Mexican American people are among the fastest growing minority
population in the United States (Eggenberger, Grassley, Restrepo, 2017). By educating nurses on the
culture of the Mexican people; nurses can then provide a more competent and appropriate care to
these clients. It is often widely thought that the people of Mexico tend to be animated, or heated in
their communication styles. For those either unfamiliar with this group of people or lacking
knowledge about this group, it can be seen as being out of control. Those of the population who were
not raised in the United States may even avoid eye contact with authority figures; which nurses can be
seen as, or when they are in awkward situations. This means that nurses should understand that they
are not shy nor are they avoiding eye contact to lie, but, rather to be seen as humble or to avoid
awkwardness (Luis Pajewski, 2017) . The nursing workforce should understand that those from
Mexico, or those of Mexican descent may appear to nod in agreement when asked a question; but this

What to Do After Graduation in Major in Success by Patrick...
There is a majority of university students worldwide who have something in common: they have no
idea what they will do after they graduate. Some students may have several ideas came out, but they
never make them come true. There are plenty of people who have difficulty to know what they are
passionate in, and even they can do but most never have the extraordinary drive necessary to go for
their dreams. At this difficult time, there is a book walked to me, Major in Success written by Patrick
Combs, which is a book that is to help people find their true dream job and become successful, and
also it helped me find the true purpose of studying in university. This book pointed out that doing what
you enjoy propels you to success . It means doing what you enjoy is the core to find your dream job. If
one has a job that pays well but he never get happiness from it, and instead of fears, tears and no
cheers. He also brings their fears from work to their lives and families and makes these people who
are outside of his job feel sad and then, that will destroy a big and happy environment. This book tells
people how to make their dreams come true. People who follow their dreams are the meaning of living
in the world and the way to get happiness. And everyone has this ability to achieve this goal; what
they need to do is only to possess extraordinary drive. From the book, the author says repeatedly that
when people get graduated, no one cares about your GPA. Patrick Combs said that

Adolescent Eating Disorders and Attachment
Eating Disorders (ED) negatively affect 25% of adolescents. It is a disorder that compiles abnormal
eating habits that includes either excessive or insufficient food intake. These abnormal eating habits
can definitely affect the individual s physical and mental health. Different factors are presume to be
correlated with eating disorders in adolescents. Some examples consist of depression, anxiety,
behavioral problems, low self esteem, role of attachment, parental relationships, etc (Gossens, Braet,
Bosmans, amp; Decaluwé, 2011). In the present paper, an examination of the role of attachment that ...

On the other hand, deficits of parental attachments were linked with different types of adolescent
psychopathology on clinical groups, which induces to support the findings in the study. Regarding
seeking proximity, half of the group with eating disorders claimed that since the disorder was
identified, they developed a closer relationship with their mothers. The findings proposed that the
disorder served as a mean to obtain closeness in order to satisfy the mothering hunger for the
emotionally unsatisfied adolescent (Orzolek Kronner, 2002). One limitation to this study is the
reliability of self present measures reported by adolescents. Another limitation is that this study
focuses only on females and their relationships with their mothers.
Next, the topic of attachment in relation to eating disorders is projected using ex post facto study
method, which refers to something occurs after the fact. In the research article by Cunha, Relvas and
Soares (2009), the differences of family perceptions related to eating disorders are inspected. The
main focus was to distinguish detected family characteristics between females with anorexia nervosa
and females with no eating pathology. The sample consisted of 34 females with anorexia nervosa and
34 females with no eating pathology. It is predicted that family perceptions are related to the methods
they seek for solutions during detrimental family conflicts. Family resilience has an enormous

Comparing The Iliad And The Odyssey
This short essay will identify five traditional epic characteristics that are evident in both the Iliad and
the Odyssey.
The first epic characteristic evident in both epics is catalogs and genealogies. For instance, Book VIII
of the Odyssey features a list of participants in the game (115 125) and the Iliad Book II features a
catalog of ships (484 759).
Secondly, both epics start in media res. The Odyssey starts ten years after the Trojan War and the Illiad
starts nine years after the start of the war.
Thirdly, the Muses are prayed to for inspiration to tell the story, which can be observed in the Iliad
Book I (1 9) and in the Odyssey Book I (1 31).
Fourthly, the main characters also give long formal speeches. For instance, in Book XI of the Iliad,
Hector rallies his men with a long speech after Agamemnon is carried off the field (248 291).
Similarly, there are extended speeches between Telemachus and the suitors, which compile Book II of
the Odyssey.
Finally, there is intervention of gods or machinery in both epics. For Odysseus , Poseidon s divine
intervention kept him from returning home for several years. Similarly, one of many examples of
divine intervention exists fairly in the beginning of the Iliad, when Apollo responds to Chryses appeal
to strike the Greek armies with plague.
In conclusion, five traditional epic characteristics that are evident in both the Iliad and the Odyssey
have been identified in the paragraphs above.

Dramatic Soprano Essay
In classical music, there is a wide and diverse range of voice types. Among these voice types lies the
dramatic soprano. The most ample of all soprano voices is that of the dramatic soprano. She must have
great sustaining power, exhibiting both depth and brilliance of timbre as well as an imposing physical
presence. This voice is also the heaviest and most powerful soprano voice which enables it to sing
over large orchestras from the top of their range to the bottom of their range.
The New Grove Dictionary of Opera defines a dramatic soprano as:

For others, learning how to support the voice is a process that takes many years. Montserrat Caballe
spent her first year at the Conservatoire learning how to breathe. She went on to call this her
respiratory gymnastics. Her breathing exercises were aimed at building a big solid wall around the
diaphragm by using and controlling all those muscles under and behind the abdomen which support
the diaphragm and the back. She wanted to strengthen them to the point where the diaphragm does
need to work but only to support the breath. The actual work of pushing up the air is done by the
abdominal muscles. Dramatic Soprano and Professor of Voice at New England Conservatory, Jane
Eaglen shares Caballe s beliefs on the sheer physicality required to achieve sufficient breathe support
for a large voice. She states Making the voice seamlessly supported throughout its entire range takes a
lot of physical strength. Not stamina, but sheer physical strength. The strength to use your muscles,
and the diaphragm, and the rest of the body in the right way never the throat. There must never be an
inkling of tension in the throat. I very much use all of my body to sing. I use my legs, bottom,
everything. So the whole body was ready by then: the cords were ready, the voice was ready and the
muscles were ready. A voice should always be like that seamless. But this just took time. It came
through good teaching and my being

Analysis Of Drown By Junot Diaz
Junot Díaz, unlike most authors, has an ability to tell his stories without the use of large, descriptive
passages. With only a few words he can immerse his readers into the environment of his stories, such
as the subject work, Drown. Whether in a comfortable suburb or a decrepit neighborhood, Junot Diaz
is skilled in producing active scenes with minimal words in his piece Drown. As Barbara Stewart
writes about Junot s work in Outsider with a Voice, The New Jersey of which [Junot] writes is the one
he knows: a place of blue collar towns and Latino immigrants, of tostones (mashed fried plantains)
and malls and roads where beer bottles grow out of the weeds like squashes (New York Times, 8 Dec.
1996). I agree with Stewart s assertion that, [Junot] writes about the [place] he knows because of his
rich environmental descriptions, and the way he uses this information to provide context within
Drown. Díaz uses his language to immerse the reader into his works. One chapter within Drown that
illustrates this well is Aurora , a chapter centered on the life of drug dealer Lucero and his romantic
endeavors with a questionable woman named Aurora. Díaz uses his careful word choice to illustrate
the story setting, to provide context clues, and to provide a deeper meaning to the text in Aurora . An
example of when Díaz uses his style of language to illustrate setting is when he describes Aurora s
messy living arrangements with druggies; Diaz placed great emphasis on common

The History Of Nanocomposites During World War II
The History of Nanocomposites Before the use of nanocomposites, humans have used natural
composites to improve their welfare and way of life throughout history. The Mesopotamians would
use natural adhesive to glue wood pieces in different ways to make plywood. Archaeologists have
found multiple natural composites used by ancient civilizations, but one of the most prevalent was the
use of straw. Utilizing straw allowed these civilizations to increase the strength of their building
bricks, thus making there shelters stronger. This is how natural composites were first used by early
humans. In the 1930s, numerous synthetic composite technological breakthroughs were born. In 1935,
Owens Corning launched the fiber reinforce polymer (FRP) industry by introducing the first fiber
glass. In 1936, unsaturated polyester resins were patented. Because of their curing properties, they
would become the dominant choice for resins in manufacturing today. In 1938, other higher
performance resin systems like epoxies also became available. (Cite) The creation of FRP was vital to
the military during World War II due to its notably high to strength to weight ratio. Not only was FRP
used for electronic housings and other electronic components, but was also used to create the first
fiberglass reinforced boat hull. The war efforts spawned copious amounts of commercial products
made with FRP. This is how synthetic and natural composites were revolutionized during the 20th
century. A

Complications Of Government Corruption
Introduction: If we read the News today, we could see that the government all over the world is
corrupt. According to US Legal, government corruption is when government leaders abuse their
political power to extract and accumulate for private enrichment (US Legal, Inc.)[1]. Technically, this
is a bad thing because when government leaders use their power for their benefit, it does not
necessarily mean that it is beneficial to the public and the society. To prove or disprove this argument,
I decided to run an econometric analysis to see whether government corruption hinders or helps
economic development. Method: There were three datasets I used for this paper. The first and the main
dataset was the dataset that contained the data on government corruption, which came from the
Worldwide Governance Indicators excel file posted on World Bank. From this dataset, I pulled out one
important variable called Corruption, which is a measure of the government performance. It ranges
from 2.5 (bad government performance/corrupted) to 2.5(good government performance/not
corrupted). We need to be careful when interpreting this variable because even though this is a
corruption measure, higher positive value actually means the government is doing better and less
corrupted. The second dataset I used was Penn World Table version 9.0[3]. From this dataset, I pulled
out the variables: average hours worked (avh), human capital index, based on years of schooling and
returns to education

Many processes associated human habitation of an area cause loss of this area and decrease the
carrying capacity of the land for that species.
Examples of habitat destruction include grazing of bush land by farmed animals, changes to natural
fire regimes, forest clearing for timber production and wetland draining for city expansion. Impact of
introduced species
The vast majority of species exposed to a new habitat do not reproduce successfully. Occasionally,
however, some populations do take hold and after a period of acclimation can increase in numbers
significantly, having destructive effects on many elements of the native environment. The Rattus
Rattus is native to India, but it has spread to almost everywhere in the world. This rat has directly
caused, or contributed to, the extinction of multiple wildlife species including a variety of birds, plants
and other small mammals. They re blamed for the incredible decline in seabirds on several islands,
including many Hawaiian species
Some introduced species (such as most of our food crops and pets) are beneficial. However, others are
very damaging. People have moved species around the world for millenia, sometimes by accident, but
often with considerable enthusiasm. English garden birds in New Zealand are merely quaint
curiosities introduced by settlers wanting the familiar species of their former homes. Some

For the word Business process , it can sophisticatedly define into 3 different categories which are

Causes Of Rural Urban Divide Of China
Causes of Rural Urban Divide: Hukou China s rural urban gaps are much larger than those found in
most other developing countries. This rural urban divide can be traced back to before the first
economic reform. Beginning in the 1950s, China separated urban and rural residents through a strictly
enforced household registration system (hukou) and focused mainly on the development of urban
cities. Hukou refers to permanent residency status and can be extremely hard to get in major cities
since it is tie to benefit levels, which differ across provinces and between urban residents and rural
residents. An urban hukou provides a relatively comprehensive system of health care and retirement

China s rural urban divide in shaping people s labor market return. From 1980 to 2010, China relied

double digit GDP growth. However, to make rapid industrialization possible, China directed most of
its investments to the cities, financed massive urban infrastructure and development projects. In result

The Family Situation Comedy ( Sitcom )
For many years now when we picture the quixotic American family our thoughts often go to the
suburbs. We visualize a family with a father, a mother and the average 2.5 children. Perhaps, this
stereotypical family has roots in the 1950 s. After World War II, there was a substantial move from
urban and rural areas to the freshly sprouted suburbs. The GI bill, signed into law in 1944, provided
significant funding for this movement with low interest mortgage loans. (Moon, n.d.) Into the twenty
first century, the suburbs and metropolitan areas continued their growth. (Frey, 2012) During the
period the suburbs were in their genesis, a relatively new medium, the television, was placing its roots
as a staple in the suburban living room. This device replaced the radio as a family s focal point for
news and entertainment. In the mid fifties, a new form of entertainment emerged, the family situation
comedy (sitcom). The show, Father Knows Best was credited as the first successful form of the new
style of comedy in 1954, and would have an extended run in broadcast and syndication for the next
thirteen years plus spawn many imitators such as Leave it to Beaver . (Taflinger, 1996) Because of
their high viewership and capacity to produce income for networks, producers, and broadcast stations,
the domestic sitcom continues to saturate the small screen today. (Academy of Television Arts
Sciences Foundation, 2013) Feasibly, the capacity of the suburban family sitcom to

Harlem Renaissance And Its Influence On African-American...
In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation freeing all, African
Americans from the bonds of slavery. However, it was still a long road for equality, especially in the
South. In the early twentieth century, many African Americans escaped the south and traveled to
northern cities, now known as the Great Migration. Many African Americans settled in a
neighborhood in New York City known as Harlem. This neighborhood lead to the flowering of African
American: culture, art, literature, and especially music. The explosion of African American culture is
known as the Harlem Renaissance. The music of the Harlem Renaissance changed African American
and American culture forever. Their music, jazz, transcended the racial divide. Jazz, created in New
Orleans, traveled to Harlem, New York, marking the birth of the musical side of the Harlem
Renaissance. Jazz was upbeat music made up of trumpets, clarinets, and drums. Along with the music,
came African American musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, and
Willie the Lion Smith. These musicians, like many others, migrated to ... Show more content on

For many middle class African Americans, jazz was considered low class, sometimes referred to as the

jazz was Langston Hughes. During the course of his career, Langston Hughes not only wrote many
poems about jazz movement, but also used the beat and rhythm of jazz during his poetry readings. In
an era of flappers and drinking, several civil rights activists, including W. E. B. DuBois, were
concerned about the sexual and violent content of jazz music. So much that they formed their own

Prostate cancer refers to the malignant growth of glandular cells located in the prostate. Under normal
circumstances these cells sit in the glands which are responsible for the production of fluids that make
up most of the semen in males [2]. However once these cells lose their control, what happens is that
they will keep on growing until they become cancerous [2]. Ultimately this means that the natural
surrounding layers that did act like barriers for these cells are now broken and therefore allows the
spread of these malignant cells to other organs within the body, particularly the bones and lymph
nodes [2]. When this does take place the risk of death also increases. At the age of 85, a man is said to
have a 1 in 5 chances of developing prostate cancer sometime in their life. The risk is said to double if
a male has a first degree relative who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Clinical features: Symptoms and signs
Every human body is slightly different in their own way and because of this reason there are people
who do not experience symptoms of prostate cancer [3]. Unfortunately Prostate cancer is a disease
that does not give any warning signs when it is growing. In most cases a male with prostate cancer
does not receive any specific symptoms of concerns; reason is that prostate cancer

Thomas Paine gives off a strong attitude towards his enemy, setting the tone and sending a message.
In common sense, Paine expresses his disgust and anger towards the government of Great Britain. As

With any Hollywood movie based on historical events there always exists an attempt to balance
historical accuracy with artistic license. Remaining accurate enough to appeal to those with
backgrounds in the field of history while still being entertaining enough for the masses is a difficult
task. One that can often lead to disaster. The film Glory is no exception to this attempt at maintaining
an equilibrium of fact and fiction. There are numerous mistakes in the film, and graded on this fact
alone the film deserves at best a C. Directed by Edward Zwick and starring Matthew Broderick,
Denzel Washington, Cary Elwes, and Morgan Freeman, Glory was released to theaters in 1989. It

Many of whom were well educated. An observer claimed that they all could read and write and made
an excellent appearance (Shaw and Duncan 33). An interesting side note to the make up of the 54th is
the fact that the only member of the 54th portrayed in the film who actually existed is Colonel Shaw.
Many minor characters portrayed are actual historical figures, such as Frederick Douglass and
Governor John A. Andrew. The names of some characters are combinations of names of real soldiers.
In an interview with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology newspaper The Tech director Edward
Zwick acknowledges that the black characters are composites of actual soldiers, but the general
framework of the plot is based on fact (Perry 11). Another aspect of the film which is quite different is
Colonel Shaw s acceptance of the position as commander of this new regiment. In the film Shaw
receives the offer of command and promotion to colonel from Governor Andrew himself. He accepts
almost immediately. However, the truth is that Robert s father, Francis Shaw, hand delivered a letter

Boxer Rebellion Research Paper
The Boxer Rebellion was an uprising that took place in the late 1800s of China because Western
influence. A strong majority of the people of China at the time were very upset that the government
chose to do little to nothing about it. People were planning to take a stand. They believed that with the
strength of their own fists, they could win, hence the name Boxers , and thus the Boxer Rebellion was
born. Although, the influence of Western culture in China starting in the 1800s brought many positive
impacts to China, inevitably, as a result of the Opium Wars, the Scramble for Concessions , and
Christianity, led to the Boxers taking a stand. A major contributor to why this rebellion took place was

Many would argue it is the true number one, primary reason that the Boxer Rebellion occurred in the
first place. The spread of Christianity in China at this time was an extremely convincing sing of
Western influence. Luella Miner was among the westerners that happened to be in China during the
Boxer Rebellion. According to her, their motto was essentially Kill the foreign devils, Kill...Kill...Kill!
. This motto would greatly explain the violence and aggression shown by the Boxers during the
rebellion. Many Boxers claim to have been primarily annoyed with the Western influence in China at
the time. Christianity would have played a key role in demonstrating Western imperialism, which is
what would explain the murdering of thousands of Christian missionaries and Chinese Christians
living in China at the time. When considered, there are not many things that scream Western culture
more than Western religion itself. Opium was only a substance that many Chinese enjoyed abusing
and Western ways of ruling were heavily affected by that country s religious beliefs. This is why
Christianity would have received the primary amounts of hate from the Boxers. Many Chinese
Christians and missionaries were murdered as a result of the Boxer Rebellion. Approximately 32,000
and 200 missionaries were murdered. This figure more clearly can demonstrate the hate towards these
Christians, and the effects they were having on the development

Advantages Of Securitisation In Nigeria
This paper seeks to discuss securitisation as a viable, and an alternative way of raising additional
capital for business organisations. Business organisations and other corporate entities require
substantial capital to grow and expand their ventures. When the financial resources of a business entity
are stretched to the limit, equity capital is scarce and therefore expansion is stalled. Therefore, in order
to improve their financial liquidity, the shareholders may not be ready to relinquish their holdings by
issuing stocks to the public. Hence, they have resorted to innovative ways of raising additional capital
with minimal cost. Securitisation has been found to be a convenient way of raising funds by
transforming unmarketable assets/receivables into tradable securities through the instrumentality of
Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). For this reason, the securitisation market has continued to grow.
Securitisation has witnessed exponential growth from a non existent industry in 1970 to $6.6 trillion
as of the second quarter of 2003. As it has been revealed in numerous instances, SPVs have been put

The foundations of the International Typographic Style can be traced to two art schools, the Zurich
School of the Applied Arts and the School of Design in Basel, who taught a curriculum in which form
follows function.
The 1950s saw a boom of the International style when it was epitomized with the creation of several
new san serif type families. The geometric fonts on the 1920s and 30s was rejected in favor of designs
inspired by Akzidenz Grotesk fonts. Two fonts would soon take the world by storm. In 1954 a Swiss
designer working in Paris by the name of Adrian Frutiger created a family of 21 san serif fonts which
he named, Univers. At the same time, back in Switzerland Edouard Hoffman of the Haas type foundry
in Switzerland felt that the Akzidenz Grtotesk fonts should be refined and upgraded. Hoffman had
been waiting for the right moment to release a new typeface and in 1956 he contacted Max Miedinger,
who had worked with him at Haas and had since branched out as a freelance consultant and designer
to help create the new typeface for Haas. Hamburgers. No, not the food, the word. Miedinger began to
create a new typeface by working out the letters in the word, hamburgers, a word that includes all
stylistic variations of letters. First working on pencil and paper and then creating photographic

Frederick Douglass, An American Slave
Frederick Douglass is well known for many of his literary achievements. He is best known, now, as a
writer. As a writer, Frederick Douglass shined. As a speaker, he was the best. There was no
abolitionist, black or white, that was more for his speaking skills. (McFeely, 206) So impressive were
Frederick Douglass s oratorical and intellectual abilities that opponents refused to believe that he had
been a slave and alleged that he was a impostor brought up on the public by the abolitionists. In reply,
Douglass wrote Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave (1845), which he
revised in later years: in final form, it appeared in 1882 under the title Life and Times Of Frederick
Douglass. (Graves, 52 ) Frederick s oratory skills left the largest impact on Civil War time period
literature. Douglass s most significant autobiographical works include: Narrative Of The Life Of
Frederick Douglass, An American Slave: My Bondage And My Freedom: and Life And Times Of
Frederick Douglass. These three books are about the same person, and share a similar message, but are
written by Frederick at different times of his life, looking at the past in different ways. In Narrative Of
The Life Of Frederick Douglass, Douglass used a simple, yet educated way to show how he felt as a
slave growing up in Maryland. He describes in the Narrative I have often been so pinched with hunger

How Did Gregor Mendel Changed The World Of Genetics
Gregor Mendel was born in Austria of 1822. His parents were mostly farmers where he spent most of
his time outside. He became very interested in plants, trees, and fruits. As Mendel grew older, he

Early Life 2016 para 3) During this time, Mendel was able to conduct his famous experiment. His
work was not confirmed until the 1900 s when three scientists, Erich Tschermak, Hugo de Vries, and
Carl Correns verified it. This was the beginning of Mendel s experiment that changed the world of

Our hair color is determined on how our parents hair color is. For example, if both of your parents
were homozygous dominant for brown hair, the probability of your hair color to be brown is one
hundred percent which also makes you homozygous dominant. Yet, if one of the parents were
heterozygous for blonde hair, the child would have a possibly chance to have blonde hair instead of
brown. But in order to figure out why we have similar characteristics as our parents and siblings,
Mendel decided to use a punnett square to see the different offspring. Instead of finding why we have
similar characteristics as our family, Mendel tested this on pea plants instead. He crossed tall and short
pea plants of the parents to see the first generation of children. In order to do this, he used an
abbreviated allele code for tall (TT) and another for short (tt). The punnett square helped give us a
visual picture of what Mendel was doing which supported Mendel s Law of Dominance. In
conclusion, Mendel chose to use pea plants for his experiment because they reproduce quickly, he
developed laws that formed the foundation of modern genetics, and he chose different traits to help
support the idea of his experiment. Mendel s experiment is important because we can see why traits
skip generations and how others are getting discrete traits. His experiment is also important in the
development of inheritance and genetics because

The CEO s of the company agreed to give him a week trial run. By the end of the week, he had lost all his confidence that they were going to keep him on but too much of his relief, he was hired on at $50 a month. I believe that because of this, I would be a good fit for the NHS and would be able to strive towards improving my community, support my peers, and seek out further opportunities to serve others. Leadership, to me, is not necessarily always equated with a formal title, but rather it is characterized by the attitude, behavior, mindset, and actions of a person. • 14. Comparing The Iliad And The Odyssey This short essay will identify five traditional epic characteristics that are evident in both the Iliad and the Odyssey. The first epic characteristic evident in both epics is catalogs and genealogies. For instance, Book VIII of the Odyssey features a list of participants in the game (115 125) and the Iliad Book II features a catalog of ships (484 759). Secondly, both epics start in media res. The Odyssey starts ten years after the Trojan War and the Illiad starts nine years after the start of the war. Thirdly, the Muses are prayed to for inspiration to tell the story, which can be observed in the Iliad Book I (1 9) and in the Odyssey Book I (1 31). Fourthly, the main characters also give long formal speeches. For instance, in Book XI of the Iliad, Hector rallies his men with a long speech after Agamemnon is carried off the field (248 291). Similarly, there are extended speeches between Telemachus and the suitors, which compile Book II of the Odyssey. Finally, there is intervention of gods or machinery in both epics. For Odysseus , Poseidon s divine intervention kept him from returning home for several years. Similarly, one of many examples of divine intervention exists fairly in the beginning of the Iliad, when Apollo responds to Chryses appeal to strike the Greek armies with plague. For others, learning how to support the voice is a process that takes many years. Montserrat Caballe spent her first year at the Conservatoire learning how to breathe. She went on to call this her respiratory gymnastics. Her breathing exercises were aimed at building a big solid wall around the diaphragm by using and controlling all those muscles under and behind the abdomen which support the diaphragm and the back. She wanted to strengthen them to the point where the diaphragm does need to work but only to support the breath. The actual work of pushing up the air is done by the abdominal muscles. Dramatic Soprano and Professor of Voice at New England Conservatory, Jane Eaglen shares Caballe s beliefs on the sheer physicality required to achieve sufficient breathe support for a large voice. She states Making the voice seamlessly supported throughout its entire range takes a lot of physical strength. Not stamina, but sheer physical strength. With only a few words he can immerse his readers into the environment of his stories, such as the subject work, Drown. Whether in a comfortable suburb or a decrepit neighborhood, Junot Diaz is skilled in producing active scenes with minimal words in his piece Drown. As Barbara Stewart writes about Junot s work in Outsider with a Voice, The New Jersey of which [Junot] writes is the one he knows: a place of blue collar towns and Latino immigrants, of tostones (mashed fried plantains) and malls and roads where beer bottles grow out of the weeds like squashes (New York Times, 8 Dec. 1996). I agree with Stewart s assertion that, [Junot] writes about the [place] he knows because of his rich environmental descriptions, and the way he uses this information to provide context within Drown. Díaz uses his language to immerse the reader into his works. One chapter within Drown that illustrates this well is Aurora , a chapter centered on the life of drug dealer Lucero and his romantic endeavors with a questionable woman named Aurora. Díaz uses his careful word choice to illustrate the story setting, to provide context clues, and to provide a deeper meaning to the text in Aurora . The History Of Nanocomposites During World War II The History of Nanocomposites Before the use of nanocomposites, humans have used natural composites to improve their welfare and way of life throughout history. The Mesopotamians would use natural adhesive to glue wood pieces in different ways to make plywood. Archaeologists have found multiple natural composites used by ancient civilizations, but one of the most prevalent was the use of straw. Utilizing straw allowed these civilizations to increase the strength of their building bricks, thus making there shelters stronger. This is how natural composites were first used by early humans. In the 1930s, numerous synthetic composite technological breakthroughs were born. In 1935, Owens Corning launched the fiber reinforce polymer (FRP) industry by introducing the first fiber glass. In 1936, unsaturated polyester resins were patented. Because of their curing properties, they would become the dominant choice for resins in manufacturing today. In 1938, other higher performance resin systems like epoxies also became available. (Cite) The creation of FRP was vital to the military during World War II due to its notably high to strength to weight ratio. Not only was FRP used for electronic housings and other electronic components, but was also used to create the first fiberglass reinforced boat hull. The war efforts spawned copious amounts of commercial products made with FRP. This is how synthetic and natural composites were revolutionized during the 20th century. A ... • 18. Complications Of Government Corruption Introduction: If we read the News today, we could see that the government all over the world is corrupt. According to US Legal, government corruption is when government leaders abuse their political power to extract and accumulate for private enrichment (US Legal, Inc.)[1]. Technically, this is a bad thing because when government leaders use their power for their benefit, it does not necessarily mean that it is beneficial to the public and the society. To prove or disprove this argument, I decided to run an econometric analysis to see whether government corruption hinders or helps economic development. Method: There were three datasets I used for this paper. The first and the main dataset was the dataset that contained the data on government corruption, which came from the Worldwide Governance Indicators excel file posted on World Bank. From this dataset, I pulled out one important variable called Corruption, which is a measure of the government performance. It ranges from 2.5 (bad government performance/corrupted) to 2.5(good government performance/not corrupted). We need to be careful when interpreting this variable because even though this is a corruption measure, higher positive value actually means the government is doing better and less corrupted. The second dataset I used was Penn World Table version 9.0[3]. From this dataset, I pulled out the variables: average hours worked (avh), human capital index, based on years of schooling and returns to education ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This rural urban divide can be traced back to before the first economic reform. Beginning in the 1950s, China separated urban and rural residents through a strictly enforced household registration system (hukou) and focused mainly on the development of urban cities. Hukou refers to permanent residency status and can be extremely hard to get in major cities since it is tie to benefit levels, which differ across provinces and between urban residents and rural residents. We visualize a family with a father, a mother and the average 2.5 children. Perhaps, this stereotypical family has roots in the 1950 s. After World War II, there was a substantial move from urban and rural areas to the freshly sprouted suburbs. The GI bill, signed into law in 1944, provided significant funding for this movement with low interest mortgage loans. (Moon, n.d.) Into the twenty first century, the suburbs and metropolitan areas continued their growth. (Frey, 2012) During the period the suburbs were in their genesis, a relatively new medium, the television, was placing its roots as a staple in the suburban living room. This device replaced the radio as a family s focal point for news and entertainment. In the mid fifties, a new form of entertainment emerged, the family situation comedy (sitcom). The show, Father Knows Best was credited as the first successful form of the new style of comedy in 1954, and would have an extended run in broadcast and syndication for the next thirteen years plus spawn many imitators such as Leave it to Beaver . Many minor characters portrayed are actual historical figures, such as Frederick Douglass and Governor John A. Andrew. The names of some characters are combinations of names of real soldiers. In an interview with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology newspaper The Tech director Edward Zwick acknowledges that the black characters are composites of actual soldiers, but the general framework of the plot is based on fact (Perry 11). Another aspect of the film which is quite different is Colonel Shaw s acceptance of the position as commander of this new regiment. In the film Shaw receives the offer of command and promotion to colonel from Governor Andrew himself. He accepts almost immediately. However, the truth is that Robert s father, Francis Shaw, hand delivered a letter from Governor Andrew to where Robert was stationed with the Second Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. Upon receiving the letter, Shaw initially refused the offer. Telling his father, I would take it if I thought myself equal to the responsibility of such a position. It was two days later before ... • 29. Boxer Rebellion Research Paper The Boxer Rebellion was an uprising that took place in the late 1800s of China because Western influence. A strong majority of the people of China at the time were very upset that the government chose to do little to nothing about it. People were planning to take a stand. They believed that with the strength of their own fists, they could win, hence the name Boxers , and thus the Boxer Rebellion was born. Although, the influence of Western culture in China starting in the 1800s brought many positive impacts to China, inevitably, as a result of the Opium Wars, the Scramble for Concessions , and Christianity, led to the Boxers taking a stand. A major contributor to why this rebellion took place was because of the previous attempts that had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many would argue it is the true number one, primary reason that the Boxer Rebellion occurred in the first place. The spread of Christianity in China at this time was an extremely convincing sing of Western influence. Luella Miner was among the westerners that happened to be in China during the Boxer Rebellion. According to her, their motto was essentially Kill the foreign devils, Kill...Kill...Kill! . This motto would greatly explain the violence and aggression shown by the Boxers during the rebellion. Many Boxers claim to have been primarily annoyed with the Western influence in China at the time. Christianity would have played a key role in demonstrating Western imperialism, which is what would explain the murdering of thousands of Christian missionaries and Chinese Christians living in China at the time. When considered, there are not many things that scream Western culture more than Western religion itself. Opium was only a substance that many Chinese enjoyed abusing and Western ways of ruling were heavily affected by that country s religious beliefs. This is why Christianity would have received the primary amounts of hate from the Boxers. Many Chinese Christians and missionaries were murdered as a result of the Boxer Rebellion. Approximately 32,000 and 200 missionaries were murdered. This figure more clearly can demonstrate the hate towards these Christians, and the effects they were having on the development ... • 30. Advantages Of Securitisation In Nigeria This paper seeks to discuss securitisation as a viable, and an alternative way of raising additional capital for business organisations. Business organisations and other corporate entities require substantial capital to grow and expand their ventures. When the financial resources of a business entity are stretched to the limit, equity capital is scarce and therefore expansion is stalled. Therefore, in order to improve their financial liquidity, the shareholders may not be ready to relinquish their holdings by issuing stocks to the public. Hence, they have resorted to innovative ways of raising additional capital with minimal cost. Securitisation has been found to be a convenient way of raising funds by transforming unmarketable assets/receivables into tradable securities through the instrumentality of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). For this reason, the securitisation market has continued to grow. Securitisation has witnessed exponential growth from a non existent industry in 1970 to $6.6 trillion as of the second quarter of 2003. The foundations of the International Typographic Style can be traced to two art schools, the Zurich School of the Applied Arts and the School of Design in Basel, who taught a curriculum in which form follows function. The 1950s saw a boom of the International style when it was epitomized with the creation of several new san serif type families. The geometric fonts on the 1920s and 30s was rejected in favor of designs inspired by Akzidenz Grotesk fonts. Two fonts would soon take the world by storm. In 1954 a Swiss designer working in Paris by the name of Adrian Frutiger created a family of 21 san serif fonts which he named, Univers. At the same time, back in Switzerland Edouard Hoffman of the Haas type foundry in Switzerland felt that the Akzidenz Grtotesk fonts should be refined and upgraded. Hoffman had been waiting for the right moment to release a new typeface and in 1956 he contacted Max Miedinger, who had worked with him at Haas and had since branched out as a freelance consultant and designer to help create the new typeface for Haas. • 32. Frederick Douglass, An American Slave Frederick Douglass is well known for many of his literary achievements. He is best known, now, as a writer. As a writer, Frederick Douglass shined. As a speaker, he was the best. There was no abolitionist, black or white, that was more for his speaking skills. (McFeely, 206) So impressive were Frederick Douglass s oratorical and intellectual abilities that opponents refused to believe that he had been a slave and alleged that he was a impostor brought up on the public by the abolitionists. In reply, Douglass wrote Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave (1845), which he revised in later years: in final form, it appeared in 1882 under the title Life and Times Of Frederick Douglass. (Graves, 52 ) Frederick s oratory skills left the largest impact on Civil War time period literature. Douglass s most significant autobiographical works include: Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave: My Bondage And My Freedom: and Life And Times Of Frederick Douglass. These three books are about the same person, and share a similar message, but are written by Frederick at different times of his life, looking at the past in different ways. In Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, Douglass used a simple, yet educated way to show how he felt as a slave growing up in Maryland. He describes in the Narrative I have often been so pinched with hunger as to dispute with old Nep, the dog, for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. How Did Gregor Mendel Changed The World Of Genetics Gregor Mendel was born in Austria of 1822. His parents were mostly farmers where he spent most of his time outside. He became very interested in plants, trees, and fruits. As Mendel grew older, he became an Augustinian monk and a botanist. A botanist is a person who studies in the field of plants. ( Early Life 2016 para 3) During this time, Mendel was able to conduct his famous experiment. His work was not confirmed until the 1900 s when three scientists, Erich Tschermak, Hugo de Vries, and Carl Correns verified it. This was the beginning of Mendel s experiment that changed the world of genetics forever ( Gregor Mendel 2003 2016, para 3). Mendel chose to use pea plants for his experiment because they reproduce quickly, he developed laws ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our hair color is determined on how our parents hair color is. For example, if both of your parents were homozygous dominant for brown hair, the probability of your hair color to be brown is one hundred percent which also makes you homozygous dominant. Yet, if one of the parents were heterozygous for blonde hair, the child would have a possibly chance to have blonde hair instead of brown. But in order to figure out why we have similar characteristics as our parents and siblings, Mendel decided to use a punnett square to see the different offspring. Instead of finding why we have similar characteristics as our family, Mendel tested this on pea plants instead. He crossed tall and short pea plants of the parents to see the first generation of children. In order to do this, he used an abbreviated allele code for tall (TT) and another for short (tt). The punnett square helped give us a visual picture of what Mendel was doing which supported Mendel s Law of Dominance. In conclusion, Mendel chose to use pea plants for his experiment because they reproduce quickly, he developed laws that formed the foundation of modern genetics, and he chose different traits to help support the idea of his experiment. Mendel s experiment is important because we can see why traits skip generations and how others are getting discrete traits. His experiment is also important in the development of inheritance and genetics because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
