Generic Biologics As A Tool For Evaluating The Safety And...
1.Background/Statement Of Problem: Generic biologics (otherwise referred to as biosimilars or follow
on biologics), are described by the FDA as biological products that are highly similar to already
approved biological products, notwithstanding minor differences in clinically interactive components
and for which there are no clinically meaningful differences between the biosimilar and the approved
biological products in terms of safety, purity and potency [4]. Biosimilars are copies of approved
biologics, whose patent protection has ended and are analogous to a generic version of a chemically
derived drug. Generic biologics are however more complicated to develop than a generic version of a
chemically derived drug owing to their complex structure and inherent variability [3]. The assessment
of bioequivalence as a tool for evaluating the safety and efficacy is based on the fundamental
Bioequivalence Assumption that if two drug products are shown to be bioequivalent in average
bioavailability, it is assumed they will reach the same therapeutic effect and be used interchangeably
[1]. However, characterizing generic versions of small molecules drugs is considerably easier than
characterizing biologic drugs due to several key characteristics [3], based on the fact that
characteristics of biologics are influenced by: choice of source materials (cell line), production
process, purification process and the final pharmaceutical formulation. Differences in

Roger Whetmore Case
In early May, 4299, the four defendants and Roger Whetmore entered a limestone cavern. A landslide
occurred while the group was far from the cavern s entrance, trapping the spelunkers inside. The only
known entrance was the one blocked by the landslide. When the group failed to return home to their
families, the Secretary of the Speluncean Society was contacted, and a rescue team was sent out
immediately. The group of spelunkers had only brought very few supplies. New landslides caused the
rescue to be significantly delayed than originally planned. On the twentieth day it was discovered the
group had radios within the cave, and communication was achieved. The men were eventually rescued
thirty two days after the first landslide had occurred. After their rescue, the defendants were charged
with the murder of their fellow spelunker, Roger Whetmore. It was discovered on the twenty third day
the group had killed and devoured their fellow spelunker. The verdict of the initial trial found the
defendants guilty, and the four men were sentenced to be hung. The jury members requested the
sentence be reduced to six months in jail. While the defendants are guilty of murdering ... Show more

The defendants also claim it was again Whetmore s idea to cast lots with a pair of dice he brought with
him on the trip. While the defendants are under oath, there is still doubt in the validity of their
testimonies. When the spelunkers were rescued on the thirty second day of being in the cave, it was
discovered that Whetmore had been murdered and consumed on the twenty third day. This leaves nine
days to come up with a story approved by each group member. The last contact between the trapped
men and the rescue camp had been the group asking for legal advice about the consequences of eating
one of their own. This suggests that the men knew there would be legal consequences for their

What Is The Weakness Of A Hotel Industry
3. SWOT ANALYSIS
3.1 Strengths
The first step to a SWOT analysis of hotel industry in India will be identifying its strengths. There are
more than 1000 classified hotels with a room availability of around 97,000 rooms which can easily
cope with the demand of tourists. Furthermore, there are also a number of international names in the
market which meet the needs of international tourists on their visit to India. In addition, there are
many tourist attractions and the cost of labor is low in comparison with the rest of the world, thus,
providing better margins for hotel owners and higher growth potential in the industry (Mohammad
Arabzad an, 2012).
3.2 Weaknesses
Next in line is assessing the weaknesses. One major restraint to the hotel industry of India is the cost
of land, which is as high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The commercials from Fallon Minneapolis highlight the brand s significant business travel amenities
and services, like free high speed internet access and priority club rewards, through the eyes of three
typical American co workers at differing levels of experience: Ted, Marcus and Zack Collectively
referred to as the Business Guy. The ads illustrate the antics and interactions of the three co workers in
everyday business travel circumstances. In one ad, the two older business Guys , Ted and Marcus, are
in the hot tub when Zack for his lack of priority club rewards points and flaunt the eccentric purchases
they have made by making use of point, such as a unicycle and gold golf clubs. These guys are the

Descriptive Essay About Pigeon Forge
The most vivid memory I recall is of the first trip I ever made to my happy place, Pigeon Forge,
Tennessee. Nothing could ever compare to those 5 days of pure happiness, without a single worry in
the world. I truly believe this one little trip shaped the way I want to live the rest of my life. The trip to
our destination was long, yet worth it. Me and my boyfriend (Tate) had long drive with many ups and
downs. About halfway there, stopped in a quaint little town on the outskirts of Tennessee, both of our
iPhone maps stopped working. It was perfectly okay though, because it was basically a straight shot to
our destination. This long journey was full of excitement and anticipation to get there. As we made it

The vibe of the whole place was like the country, yet we were in the city. Although Dollywood was
exhilarating; Gatlinburg was a close second. Gatlinburg is really where the city yet country
atmosphere comes into play. We started our journey passing through the Great Smoky Mountains
National Park, and let me just tell you, it was astonishing. This really exhibits the beauty of the smoky
mountains. The rocky rivers, unrelenting waterfalls, and glistening greenery really embodied the allure
of The Great Smoky Mountains. Unfortunately at this point we just drove through because we were on
our way to Gatlinburg, but we came back. Our first destination in Gatlinburg was the aquarium,
because we are both fish lovers! We spent hours here, then went on our way elsewhere. Just walking
down the streets of Gatlinburg could have kept us entertained for hours. Of course the kid in the both
of us guided us to our next destination, the arcade! This was without a doubt my boyfriend s favorite
part, we spent roughly the rest of the afternoon in here, but we didn t leave our cabin until about 11.
There was this crazy clown game where you knock down clowns by throwing balls, and it was
extremely addictive. Surprisingly we weren t the only older people in there. After this we spent the
rest of the afternoon shopping and engaging with the friendly people. Finally we were exhausted, and
returned to our cabin. Our last night was

A Career As A Chemical Engineer At Texas A M
Chemistry is the science that studies all properties of matter. Chemistry is an immense subject that
exists everywhere in the world, from chemical compounds in the human body to detergents used in
daily basis, chemistry can be in anything we can think of. Reason why, ever since I was a junior in
High School I dreamt with becoming a chemical engineer in the near future. Being a chemical
engineer is not just about knowing chemistry, but also implementing the engineering principles to
mass produce products, and share them with consumers. Correspondingly, a chemical engineer utilizes
the principles of chemistry in order to solve problems that involve the production in large scales of
chemicals, food, fuel, makeup, and many other products manufactured by chemical engineers. ...

Thus, I will be honored of standing such a prestigious college, and having the privilege of becoming
an outstanding Chemical Engineer. What inspires me to pursue a career on this field is how vast and
innovative this major is. Honestly speaking, I am a very creative person. One of my many passions
include drawing and painting, traditionally and digitally. Thus, the Chemical Engineer field combines
two of my personal passions, Chemistry and art. Since, Chemistry also means combining, and
studying the interaction between substances through different chemical reactions in order to obtain a
different product or substance. From my artistic side, I perceive a laboratory as my canvas, and the
different elements as my paint. By becoming a Chemical Engineer, I want to create new products than

Pavel Alekseyevich Cherenkov and the Cherenkov Effect
The 1958 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Pavel Alekseyevich Cherenkov, Ilya Frank and Igor
Tamm for the discovery and the interpretation of the Cherenkov Effect. Cherenkov radiation is the
electromagnetic radiation emitted by particles moving through a medium faster than the speed of light
in the same medium. It was fist a detected by Soviet scientist Pavel Alekseyevich Cherenkov, of who
the effect is named after and a theory was later developed by Ilya Frank and Igor Tamm. Cherenkov s
contributions still live on as an invaluable tool in today s nuclear and subatomic particle physics with
examples that include a way to detect and quantify the characteristics of subatomic particles to
analyzing high energy cosmic signals from the deepest regions of space. More down to earth uses
consist of safety procedures for nuclear reactors and the detection of low concentration biomolecules
in the sick and elderly.
Despite the underprivileged life as the child of Russian peasants, Pavel Cherenkov was able to
graduate from the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of Voronezh State University in 1928 and went
onto a post graduate course at the Academy of Science in St. Petersburg. His work in physics soon
promoted him to a senior scientific officer at the P.N. Lebedev Institute, more commonly known as the
physics branch of the Academy of Science in Moscow. It was here at the Academy in 1932, that an

Hospitals And Integrated Delivery Networks
Hospitals and Integrated Delivery Networks
NEED A TITLE

Introduction
While adapting and complying with costly changes in regulations as well as increases in operating
costs, hospitals have managed to remain profitable. This is due primarily through Medicare, Medicaid,
and private insurance reimbursements for services rendered. However, new health care reform
initiatives reduce percentage of these reimbursements, especially for hospital inpatient services. Less
reimbursements coupled with costly phased rolled out regulatory requirements is forcing some
hospitals out of business.
To stay afloat, hospital executives are looking at the second largest expense after labor; supply chain
management. Executives are examining their business models and recognizing the need to scrutinize
supply chain management practices, which represents nearly half of its operating expense. Relying on
Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) and third party providers (3PLs) to negotiate contracts with
suppliers to manage supply chain order fulfillment and transportation.
This white paper focuses on how hospitals and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) can manage their
inbound supply chain to reduce unnecessary costs and increase efficiencies to significantly improve
their profit margins.

African Americans And The Caged Bird
A symbol that Angelou uses is a caged bird and a free bird to represent races. Even though it is not
said in the poem it is quite obvious to the reader that the free bird represents White Americans and the
caged bird represents African Americans. Throughout the poem Angelou carries out the extended
metaphor to express her view on society. The way the free bird claims to own the sky associates with
the ideas of power and choice, this indicates an air of arrogance and selfishness as the White
Americans assume that it is their place to own and dominate the world, despite others desires and
needs. The metaphor sky relates to the society, power, riches, and privileges in the world. This
contrasts with White Americans owning the world as

Persuasive Essay On Keeping The Driving Age
Learning to drive is one of the most exciting times in a young person s life. For most, this begins
around the age of fifteen. Also at this time, many teens are beginning high school and becoming
accustomed to more responsibilities. The driving age has been sixteen years old for many years. Many
learn how to safely drive during this time before going off to college where they no longer have
parental supervision. Raising the driving age would only make college car crashes more likely than if
they learned when they were younger. The driving age should remain the same because it allows teens
to fulfill responsibilities, learn safe driving more easily, and reduce the risk of car crashes among
college students.
First, the current driving age allows busy teens to keep up with their full schedules and fulfill
responsibilities. Many parents do not have the time to keep up with their own schedules as well as
their children s. For this reason, having a license allows teens to be more independent, allowing them
to learn responsibility for themselves. As teens learn to drive, they learn valuable life skills. They learn
safety, awareness, and maturity. These are all very important life skills that one should have before
they reach adulthood. If the driving age was raised, many would not ... Show more content on

The world has always been the people who made the revolution in a particular field of activity.
Christopher Columbus, Nikola Tesla, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and many others have made the
world as it is now. This presentation describes another inventor, Steve Jobs, whose discoveries have
caused a revolution in the IT field. Steven Paul Jobs was born in San Francisco, February 24, 1955.
His biological parents who were not married, adopted him from a family of civil servants from the
South Bay area of San Francisco, Paul and Clara Jobs.
In high school, Steve Jobs decided to go to Reed College in Oregon. However, Steve studied in
college just one semester, then dropped. He devoted much time to the study of Eastern mysticism and
practiced a very strange diet, fasting, then ate some fruit; it was the hippie period of his life.

Family Honor And Obedient Sacrifice In The Scarlet Letter...
Family Honor Obedient Sacrifice
Varying from person to person, the ideology of family culture tends to differ. Many people would
define their own family culture differently, but there are times when it may overlap with another
person. Throughout our world, there are many cultures. These can be divided into subcategories such
as people or ethnic groups within a community to the social aspect of society. When it comes to
specific cultures, it may result in people behaving or thinking a certain way. This ties into conformity.
The question of whether or not conforming to society may bring honor or prevent shame to an
individual or group is something that could be debateable. This paper will be exploring the idea of
conformity between Scarlet Letter and Red Azalea. Both stories contain a womanly figure who takes
charge in dealing with difficulties that may arise.
The general idea of culture that is ingrained into the brains of many people, may consist of associating
culture with countries or ethnic groups. One of the main key points to this term is that it incorporates
much more than just those two aspects. When viewing it from a sociological perspective, culture can
be deconstructed into 3 components. Through background knowledge after taking a sociology class,
values, norms, and artifacts when combined, is what defines the term culture. These aspects that create
culture, can differentiate a family from one another. When taking the broad idea of culture and then
applying it

The Memories Of The Tape Recorder s Message
Static announced the beginning of the tape recorder s message. Papers shuffled, old couch springs

Do you have a happy place? A woman s voice inquired. Curt, professional, emotionless. It summoned
up the picture perfect image of your typical therapist, complete with dyed blonde hair and square
black glasses.
Hesitation. It lasted so long, one might begin to ponder if there was even anyone there to do the

emotion and wonder. This speaker, whoever he was, engaged himself fully in the story he told,
enticing listeners to lean forward and wrap themselves into his words.
Inside the yacht, everything was just as beautiful. Red carpets, expensive furniture, the rich scent of
the sea. Our conversations were still awkward and uncertain, we d barely known each other a week at
this point, but he still referred to me with his cute little Italian terms of endearment. At least, I assume

activities and Transaction processing financial reporting systems. This paper will answer the problems
specified in this second assignment, it will provide solutions to problems 5, 12, and 23 on pages 168,

The first problem deals with First State Bank and suggested configurations for the banks databases
and data communications facilities. The second problem deals with the activates that promote
effective control and finally the last problem which deals with XBRL and the enhancements and
discussion of data integrity, internal control and reporting concerns in relation to XBRL.
Question 1
Response:
This configuration will entail a hybrid of centralized and decentralized processing. Because customers
should be able to bank at any of the 11 branches, cash withdrawal transactions from each branch
should be centrally processed and the customer databases updated. Deposits of cash and checks and
payment of customers bills can be stored on remote computers, with the data being sent to the
mainframe periodically. Banks tend to be more concerned with the promptness in recording cash
withdrawals than cash receipts. Thus, the data representing the payment of customers bills may be sent
to the mainframe computer four to six times a day for updating, while deposits of cash may be
transmitted only twice a day. The payroll accounts can be stored and

Nationalism vs Patriotism
George Orwell wrote that nationalism was one of the worst enemies of peace. He defined nationalism
as the feeling that your way of life, country, or ethnic group were superior to others. These types of
feelings lead a group to attempt to impose their morality on any given situation. When those standards
were not met, more often then not, war would result. In contrast he stated that patriotism was the
feeling of admiration for a way of life etc. and the willingness to defend it against attack. The obvious
difference between the two is that while patriotism is a passive attitude, nationalism is aggressive by
nature. Orwell was writing this during the years just prior to World War Two when nationalism in
Europe was running rampant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On their side the United States began their policy of propping up a variety of dictatorships under the
guise of preventing the spread of communism. It s debateable whether these initial actions were driven
more by real politick then nationalism, one side trying to limit the other sides power and influence
more then an expansion and imposition of a way of life. But in the end the justifications for actions
began to take on the sound of nationalistic fervour whatever the original intent.
American governments began wrapping themselves in the flag of protectors of freedom and
democracy under more and more spurious circumstances. Meanwhile the Soviets claims of liberation
from the chains of capitalism and oppression became harder to swallow during the post Stalin
revelations of mass murders and famine. Nationalism has a history in both countries as far back as
their beginnings. Under the Tsars the Russian empire was just as expansionistic as the Soviets
stretching their sphere of influence from the Balkans to the near east. In the U. S. it was first
implemented as policy in 1810 with the Monroe Doctrine, which lay claim to the whole western
hemisphere as being under American influence. In both countries these policies continue unabated till
this day. Chile, Nicaragua, Grenada, Panama, and Cuba for the U.S. and Chechnya and Afghanistan

This act is translated into todays concept of rape, but as the narrative continues we see how Shechem
tries to justify his manner by claiming he fell victim to love. Being drawn to Dinah, daughter of Jacob,
and in love with the maiden, he spoke to the maiden tenderly (Genesis 34:3). This, however, is not
admissible in the eyes of Israel s men. Shechem s behavior is considered an outrage in Israel...a thing
not to be done , and therefore, hinders Shechem s aspiration of marriage to her (Genesis 34:7). One of
the ways he is able to seek mercy is by offering Dinah s brothers and father a high bride price. This
offering along with a promise for all men to be circumcised in accordance with God s command to
their grandfather Abraham: This is my covenant between Me and you and your offspring to follow
which you shall keep: every male among you shall be circumcised, is a fitting plea to their ears and
Dinah is wed off (Genesis 17:10). But what about Dinah s ears? Who is to say that she wants to marry
this man who defiled her? What is her view on it all?
Ironically, there is no mention of Dinah s feelings or thoughts throughout Genesis 34. All the attention
focuses not on Dinah, but the men around her. The one who is affected the most throughout this whole
ordeal is somehow left in the shadow. There even is no reference to how she succumbs to being raped,
and later deceived by her own blood.

The gains and losses of Gallipoli
Assess the gains and losses of Gallipoli
Gallipoli gave Australia its identity as nation and built what our nation is today. Gallipoli was one
major fundamental factor in our culture. When you look back into the history of Australia at war you ll
hear Anzacs and diggers a lot. These names all came from one war and in fact one battle. Anzac stands
for the Australian New Zealand army corps. The term diggers comes from soldiers continually digging
trenches, holes and bunkers to sleep in and take cover during an artillery duel. The term has remained
with us for over 90 years. Our soldiers are still living in holes.
The landing at Anzac cove, Gallipoli, is a significant part in the history of our identity in the war and

There were eight Victoria crosses handed out to Australian soldiers during the Gallipoli campaign.
One of the most famous VC award winners was Lance Corporal Albert Jacka. On the 19 May, the
Turkish launched an a attack to push the Australians into the sea. They seized ten metres of trench at a
place called Courtney s Post, but Australians at either end stopped them from continuing to advance.
At the northern end Jacka, with several of his mates, tried to get rid the Turkish at the post, but were
beaten back. It was then decided that while a feint attack was made from the one end, Jacka would
attack from behind. Jacka s mates waited long enough for Jacka to circle in behind and then threw two
bombs and gave covering fire. Jacka leapt over the parapet, shot five Turkish soldiers with his rifle,
bayonetted two others and forced the rest to flee the captured trench. Members of Jacka s battalion,
14th Battalion, believed he should of won more VC s in France to. Another example of Australian
courage was the charge of the 8th and 10th Light Horse regiments at The Nek. The point of this attack
was to support an attack that was been made by New Zealand soldiers at Baby 700. The attack was to
be at 0430 hours, or 4:30 am. The attack would start with an artillery bombardment at 4:20 am, but the
bombardment stopped 5 minutes to early. The officers following their orders kept the men back until

Comparison Of Betty Neuman s Systems Model
Comparison Assignment
Betty Neuman s systems model is a systems theory that emphasizes the importance of the complex
and ongoing interactions among all subsystems of an individual (Hood, 2014, p.128). Neuman s
systems model focuses on decreasing external, internal, and environmental factors that could
adversely affect an individual. Furthermore, Neuman s system model explains that these stressors can
cause a specific response and a unique reaction that consequently wears off the defense lines that
protect the person s inner core and preserve their health and well being (Hood, 2014, p.131). In
contrast, Callista Roy s adaption model is a stress/adaption theory based on the premise that human
response can adapt and change in terms of accommodation (Hood, 2014, p. 133). Roy s adaption
model explains that human response to stimuli is dictated by the individual s adaptive modes, type of
stimuli they were confronted by, level of adaption, and ability to cope (Hood, 2014). Moreover, as
Hood (2014) states, a person s adaption level is determined by its response to a combination of focal,
contextual, and residual stimuli.
While Roy s adaption ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the fact that both theorists targeted goals aim to decrease adverse stressors and unwanted
stimuli through interventions that enable a patient to maintain optimal health by means of positive
coping and prompt identification of stressor, their means to attain patient s goal are a somehow
dissimilar. Neuman s system model interventions are targeted towards primary, secondary, or tertiary
prevention (Hood, 2014, p. 168) with the aim to fortify the person s lines of defense. Although, Roy s
adaption model interventions are also aimed to improve coping mechanisms and to reduce stressors,
they are specific to the improving adaption modes and optimizing adaption levels of the individual due
to the combination of stressors such as focal, contextual, and residual (Hood,

Female Sex Offenders
Most people tend to overlook women sex offenders compared to men who are sex offenders. Women
are just as likely to be a sex offender just as men are. Typically, women sex offenders tend to prey on
their students if they happen to be a school teacher. This gives them the access to hundreds of under
aged children every school year that they can prey on sometimes, be in an intimate relationship with
them. When someone hears something regarding a sex offender, we typically automatically assume it
is a male who committed the act and the crime. Males tend not to report their victimization, which

Poisonwood Bible Analysis
The beginning of The Poisonwood Bible immediately informs the reader that this story is not going to
be like any other story the reader is going to read. The beginning gives the reader curiosity because it s
bold and is unusual to any other narrative beginning. It allows the reader to get a sense of what the
setting will be for this book and informs the reader that when reading he or she should pay close
attention. Things like what and why things are occurring and how the characters are dealing with those
situations. This beginning tells the reader that the environment will play in the lives of the characters
and somewhat alludes that this environment will create problems. I believe the you that Orleanna is
speaking to could possibly be the reader because the things she states when she does say you are direct
questions. It is almost like she is having a direct conversation. It seems more likely to be the reader
since she is one of the main characters and the reader is the one learning about her story and what she
went through. However, this is only a prediction and could later turnout to be anyone within the story,
but her children. It can be anyone but her children because if she is speaking to them she would most
likely state their names instead of saying you. During the beginning chapter, Orleanna casually alludes

Stress And Oxidative Stress
Aerobic organisms need molecular oxygen (O2) for respiration or oxidation of nutrients to obtain
energy. There are some reactive by products of cellular respiration, derived from molecular oxygen,
that are generated continuously in cells grown aerobically, such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)
superoxide anion radical (O2 ), and the highly reactive hydroxyl radicals (OH).These reactive oxygen
species (ROS) are essential for various functions such as homeostasis and cell signaling but an
imbalance in favor of reactive oxygen species results in oxidative stress (OS) (Kashmiri et al.,2014).
Oxidative stress (OS) result in interference in the functioning of biological systems that maintain
levels of environmentally produced reactive oxygen species (ROS), by readily detecting and
detoxifying them (Lucana et al., 2012). Living organisms have adopted mechanisms to protect
themselves against oxidative stress, by producing enzymes such as catalase and superoxide dismutase,
small proteins like thioredoxin and glutaredoxin, and molecules such as glutathione ( Cabiscol et
al.,1999). Metallo enzymes such as superoxide dismutases are the primary antioxidant enzymes that
protect cells from oxidative damage of superoxide radicals, by catalyzing dismutation of superoxide
(O2 ) to hydrogen peroxide and oxygen. Superoxide dismutases, as name suggests dismutes
superoxide. Dismutation reaction is that in which two equal but opposite reactions occur on two
separate molecules. SOD takes two

The Middle Passage Analysis
In The Middle Passage Documentary by Steven Spielberg, the trans Atlantic slave trade is analyzed
and broken down to reveal the true horrors endured by millions of African Americans through the four
hundred years it occurred. Step by step, it travels through the journey the slaves suffered through,
from the initial capturing to the moments they arrived in America, only to be auctioned off as no more
than lowly farm animals. The documentary shows the overall journey of the Middle Passage and the
trials involved, but the book Copper Sun by Sharon Draper portrays it in a different light. The novel
follows an enslaved African by the name of Amari through the horrors of the capture, forced
migration, and voyage to the land of the whites. Another perspective within the book is of a white girl
named Polly who is braving the hardships that come with being an indentured servant. Yet what both
the documentary and novel show are the unbreakable spirits of the ones who were forced to withstand
the barbarous actions of the people who imprisoned them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Concept of Blood Atonement behind Judaism and...
The idea of using blood of a living creature, (typically an animal s) in order to blot out immorality, or
better known as sin, can be traced back to the roots of primal civilization. Specifically in Judaism, the
ritual started in which an animal was sacrificed in order to cover the sins of a person or multiple
people. As we presently observe the traditions of Judaism we do not find any sign of animal sacrifice,
with an exception of orthodox Jews. While on the other hand, Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints
(FLDS) will be found to zealously observe blood atonement in their practices today. The significance
and importance that was placed in blood atonement, through animal sacrifice, no longer has the same

One story in the Bible that might draw to the assumption that Yahweh required human sacrifice is the
account of Abraham being asked by God to sacrifice his son Isaac. God stopped Abraham, with knife
in hand, from sacrificing Isaac. Deuteronomy 12:31 further supports that Judaism culture did not
regard human sacrifice as virtuous: You must not worship the Lord your God in their way, because in
worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates. They even burn their sons
and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.
Even though animal sacrificing was a center tradition of Judaism, it ceased in the year 70 A.D. after
the Roman army had destroyed the Jewish temple in Jerusalem (Dumbrell). Deuteronomy says thou
offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest : But in the place which the LORD shall
choose in one of thy tribes Thus the custom of animal sacrificing could no longer continue in the
culture of Judaism. Regardless, there were other ways in

Magical Realism in The Garden of Forking Paths Essay
Magical Realism in The Garden of Forking Paths
While there may be some debate as to whether the Argentinian Jorge Luis Borges was technically a
Magical Realist, some may feel that his works definitely do have some of the characteristics of what is
considered Magical Realistic literature. Among his various types of works are poetry, essays,
fantasies, and short fictions. Often referred to in essays that discuss the history and theory of Magical
Realism, The Garden of Forking Paths is probably Borges most popular short story. Published in 1964

tried to construct a labyrinth in which all men would get lost. During his journey, Yu Tsun begins to
ponder over his grandfather s lost labyrinth. Then, he says, I forgot my destiny of one pursued. I felt
myself to be, for an unknown period of time, and abstract perceiver of the world . . . The road
descended and forked among the now confused meadows (Borges 23). As a result of thinking about
the maze, Yu Tsun finds himself trapped in a garden maze at Dr. Albert s house (Wiehe 980). Of
course, being caught in what is seemingly an imaginary maze introduces a magical element into the
story.
Being caught in an imaginary maze serves the purpose of giving the reader a different perspective on
real life. The imaginary maze represents the numerous paths that one can travel and all of the possible
outcomes from these paths. While in real life a person can really only go down one path, the
imagination can venture down all possible paths. Two ways in which this is illustrated in The Garden
of Forking Paths are by the meaning of Yu Tsun s grandfather s novel and by the plot of The Garden of
Forking Paths. When explaining the meaning of the novel by Ts ui Pen, Yu Tsun s grandfather,
Stephen Albert states:
In the work of Ts ui Pen, all possible outcomes occur; each one is the point of departure for other

Agile Methodology For Software Development
A single definition of agile methodology in software development is not easily found. We should
consider agile methodology as an umbrella under which various agile methodologies rest. I will define
agile methodology as an alternative to traditional heavyweight , linear project management
methodologies that is marked by an adherence to and reliance on the individual not as a replaceable
part, constant interactions between the project team and the customer, adaptiveness, customer
collaboration, and responsiveness to change throughout a product s development, which is perpetual.
A major and initial influential force in agile methodology was Dr. Winston Royce. In 1970, he
published an article entitled Managing the Development of Large Software Systems . In this paper, he
argues software development is unlike the sequentially, siloed group phased execution auto
manufacturing sector and proposed an iterative and incremental approach, while also acknowledging
its risks, that today is commonly referred to as agile methodology. Throughout my reading on the
topic, I noted that the push for the use of agile methods in software development has been referred to
as a movement. And at the forefront of this movement is the Agile Alliance. In 2001, the Agile
Alliance published the Manifesto for Agile Software Development . I will not explore this group or its
manifesto further other than citing its opening salvo, listed on its website, in order to further

Critically discuss the key arguments in the debate about the potential impact of touchscreen media use
on young children s development.
Touchscreen media is a rapidly developing industry, such that most people use a touchscreen media
device everyday (Cheung, Bedford, Saez de Urabain, Karmiloff Smith Smith, 2017). Whilst
touchscreen media is not a brand new phenomenon, it is ever changing and constantly developing.
Little research has been done to assess the longer term developmental implications of toddlers using
touchscreens (Bedford, Saez de Urabain, Cheung, Karmiloff Smith Smith, 2016). Whilst Bedford et

Despite this suggestion, their findings do suggest a positive association between sleep and media use
even amongst toddlers, and therefore more research would need to be done in this field to reliably
determine whether touchscreen media use has the same effect on sleep for both toddlers and
adolescents.
Furthermore, research is beginning to be conducted into the effects touchscreen media has on the
physical development of children (Howie, Coenen, Campbell, Ranelli Straker, 2017). Howie et al.
(2017) used a sample 3 5 year old children, who used touchscreen media for approximately 1.5 hours
per day. The aim of this research was to see whether there would be key differences in the posture or
muscle movement in children who used touchscreen tablets in comparison to those who either
watched television or played with non screen toys. The key findings did indicate differences in
posture, muscle activity and the amount of time spent sitting and exercising between children in the
touchscreen condition compared to those in the traditional non screen toy condition. Howie et al.
(2017) acknowledge that on one hand, it can be seen as positive that touchscreen media increases
posture movement as the different variation in positions could be beneficial in helping to prevent

Determinant Of Health Essay
Inequality is a key determinant of health status in populations Discuss this statement.
The definition of health is an abstract concept (Earle et al, 2007). According to The World Health
Organisation health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well being, and not
merely the absence of disease or infirmity (WHO constitution, 1946). The WHO definition of health
has regularly been scrutinised due to lack of mention of sexual, emotional, and spiritual health. People
define health differently throughout their lives e.g a child may define being healthy as the ability to
attend school, the elderly define health more in the terms of being able to look after yourself and
declining health as an inevitable part of aging (Lawton, 2003). Inequality the focus of my essay is
defined as the difference is size, degree or circumstance (Google,2017). I aim to discuss a range of
different social determinants of health, the social gradient scale and how the degree of inequity and
inequality varies within populations within and between countries.
Inequalities within different populations which affect health status has been a government agenda

Neuropathic Ulcers Homework 1. 1. Why does a high blood glucose level cause tissue damage? There
are a few different theories of why hyperglycemia cause tissue damage. One cause is caused by the
increase in microvascular pressures from the hemodynamic changes. It also changes RBC to become
less deformable making it harder to release oxygen, and more adhesive. The RBC will stick to each
other and to the capillary walls. Similar to RBC s, platelets become more adhesive, making capillary
walls thicker. The decrease in lumen size causes the increase in microvascular pressure.

Differences Between Entrepreneurship And Leadership
Entrepreneurship scholars have highlighted the differences between entrepreneurial leaders and other
leaders in three domains. First, entrepreneurial leaders possess inherent characteristics that
differentiate them from other leaders and motivate and enable them to enter the challenging process of
leading entrepreneurial activities (Chen, 2007; Kuratko, 2007; Fernald et al., 2005; Gupta et al., 2004;
Nicholson, 1998). Entrepreneurial characteristics which are most referred to with respect to both
entrepreneurial leaders and organisations are innovativeness, proactiveness and risk taking (Chen,
2007; Kuratko, 2007; Gupta et al., 2004; Covin Slevin, 1991). Innovativeness is the ability and
tendency of entrepreneurial leaders to think creatively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

current organisations. Specifically, scholars argue that entrepreneurial leaders competencies in
anticipating the future, exploring new opportunities, creating novel ideas and providing an
environment for staff that encourages and supports generating and implementing new ideas help
organisational leaders face problems and achieve their vision (Burns, 2005; Gupta et al., 2004).
Various factors such as personal characteristics, organisational and task performance demands and
environmental factors affect the process of influencing followers that makes leadership as a highly
challenging role for entrepreneurial leaders (Leitch et al., in press; Kempster Cope, 2010; Kempster,
2009, 2006). Despite these differences, however, there are also key similarities between
entrepreneurial leadership and the terms that construct the concept: entrepreneurship and leadership.

Introduction: The purpose of the Boomilever Project is to build a cantilevered truss that is light weight
while still able to support 15 kilograms. With this project it serves to reinforce the cumulative
concepts that have been taught throughout this semester of Engineering Statics. It has been necessary
to research designs, types of wood, and types of adhesive that will create a final result that is
consistent with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(See pages 7 and 10 for design and calculations) Second Design: After the analysis on the first design
brought to light the zero for members, it was decided that these members should be removed. In order
to combat the flex of such a simple design the decision was made to double the thickness. This design
would have the same outer frame of two triangles with a height of 20 centimeters and a width of 40
centimeters. Instead of being spaced five centimeters apart the wood be bonded directly together using
Gorilla Glue. Balsa wood, a very lightweight wood with properties similar to a dense foam, was used
for the main supporting member. Basswood, a lightweight yet firm wood, was used for the horizontal
member. The final design added a triple layer sheet of balsa wood to rear side of the truss. This balsa
sheet was added for the purpose of mounting and supporting the main structure. Additionally, a five
centimeter square frame of bass wood was added at the end of the boomilever to place the loading
block for testing. Once this design was implemented two key issues were discovered. First, due to the
properties of the bass wood and balsa wood it was obvious that the placement needed to be reversed.
The bass wood should be used for the hypotenuse and the balsa wood should be used for the

B. Place: Walden Two, R.D. I, Canton
C. Detailed description of the opening scene:
Rogers and Steve just returning from war, and looking for a new beginning read an article on a man

Main Character:
Professor Burris is a professor of psychology, the central character of the novel, and the man through
whose eyes we view the many aspects of Walden Two. He is very intelligent, and initially doubtful of
the operations of Walden Two, but is more and more fanatical about it over the course of his visit.
B. Supporting Character:
T.E. Frazier is a former classmate of Burris at his graduate school, and is one of the founding members
of Walden Two.
C. Supporting Character:
Augustine Castle is a philosopher and a colleague of Burris at the university. He is equally as
intelligent as Burris and a gifted debater, but he is rather closed minded; he debates with Frazier his
whole visit to Walden Two, trying to find some practical reason why it shouldn t work.
D. Supporting Character:
Rogers is a former classmate of Burris. After returning

The Bolsheviks
Lawyers would say that Europe, Asia, and the United States of America are completely different.
However, from the point of view of the citizens, the similarities in their daily lives are numerous, even
if some fundamental differences remain. To begin with the most obvious similarity and example: in
the USA, as well as in parts of Europe, citizens use a single currency, identical to the currency of their
neighboring States. Just as in Europe, in the USA, several decisions remain the responsibility of the
states, such as highway code, certain taxes, social welfare, minimum wages, and certain areas of
justice. At the political level, some plea for further independence of the States in relation to the federal
government, while others are bidding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It should not be unforeseen that the Bolsheviks worked hard to safeguard that any person potentially
antagonistic to them did not retain arms. The first Soviet gun controls were enacted during the Russian
Civil War, as Czarists, Western troops, and national independence movements fought the central Red
regime. Firearm registration was instituted on April 1, 1918. In October 1918, the Council of People s
Commissars (the government) ordered the renunciation of all firearms, ammunition, and sabers. As
has been the case in nearly every nation where firearms registration has been introduced, registration
proved a preamble to confiscation. Excused from the confiscation order, however, were affiliates of
the Communist Party. A 1920 decree imposed a obligatory minimum penalty of six months in prison
for non Communist possession of a firearm, even where there was no felonious intent. After the Red
triumph in the Civil War, the firearm laws were consolidated in a Criminal Code, which if broken,
unauthorized possession of a firearm would be punishable by rigid labor. A 1925 law made
unauthorized possession of a firearm punishable by three months of hard labor, plus a fine of 300
rubles (equal to about four months wages for a highly paid construction worker). Stalin apparently
found little need to alternate the weapons control structure he had inherited. This chapter of Lethal
Laws summarizes the genocide perpetrated by Stalin from 1929 to 1953, starting with his efforts to
collectivize farming by destroying the class of property owning farmers. Altogether, about twenty
million people were murdered, worked to death in slave labor camps, or deliberately starved to death
by Stalin s government. Stalin s successful campaign of genocide against the Kulaks and against
dissident Communists served as a model for

Concealed Self In Tang
This art analysis will argue in favor of the dissenting literati of the Song Dynasty that sought to
underscore the concealed self of governmental punishment and the re discovery of self in landscape
paintings of the Yuan and Ming Dynasties. During the Song Dynasty, governmental scholar officials
were often expected to challenge the policies of the government, which caused some officials to self
edit themselves due to fear of punishment from the Emperor. Song era landscape painters concealed
their literary symbolism in the landscape paintings produced by scholar officials. However, some
scholar officials chose to re discover the self by retreating to the countryside to create landscape
paintings as a form of public dissent against the new Mongolian government of the Yuan Dynasty.
This form of dissent defines the strong political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In essence, an analysis of the concealed self in Northern Song paintings will be contrasted by the re
discovery of self in the public dissent of Yuan and Ming literati painters in the landscape painting
style. After the fall of Tang Dynasty, Song Dynasty scholar officials sought to re discover the self
through the paintings of Northern Song Dynasty painters, such as Su Shi, define the desire of scholar
officials to find peace and harmony in the rural retreat from urban life at the royal court. For instance,
Su Shi s Ancient tree and Rock is a famous work of the Northern Song period, which breaks with
academic or courtly traditions in art by applying simple brush strokes as a form of silent dissent
against the authority of the Emperor. In this context, the concealed dissent of Su Shi s painting is
defined in the resistance to

A Beautiful Mind Essay
In the movie A Beautiful Mind by Ron Howard, John Nash is the main focus of this movie because he
was diagnosed with a serious mental disease known as schizophrenia. Schizophrenia can be described
by many different symptoms, but most cases contain illogical thoughts or hallucinations (1). This
mental disease became a prominent factor in John Nash s life during his early adulthood. At this time,
he was studying to obtain his doctorate at Princeton University. Although he had such an immaculate
knowledge, it was his mind that was his downfall. His problems began by fantasizing a roommate
named Charles Herman. This fantasy stays with him for the rest of his life. Once graduating with a
doctorate, he begins working for the Massachusetts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this is not a huge indicator of schizophrenia, it still seems to be a little awkward. One of his
main characteristics throughout the movie was his seldomness. It took a major role in his college days
and his time working at MIT. In both cases, he would isolate himself to not be around people, and to
also work on his projects. I also noticed that his knowledge of what great intellect he had allowed him
to be insanely self confident, but he never showed any of it because he never spoke to anyone. A scene
in the movie that caught my eye was the part whenever Hansen and Nash were playing a game. Nash
lost and instantly emitted a dumbfounded expression, he could not grasp that he had actually lost. This
frustrated John because he thought he had calculated it perfectly, and that everything was in his favor.
His competitiveness defined him, that is what made John Nash push himself to unbelievable mental
distances. This competitiveness also lead to his fear in failure. All he knew was success, and whenever
he would fail, he would destroy himself to make sure he did not make that mistake again. His sporadic
mind allowed him to take failure and criticize himself harshly. He busted his head into a glass window
to tell himself that he was messing up and that he was a loser. It is okay to discipline yourself if you
are wrong, but not to that extreme. He used his physical outside to absorb the hurt he was feeling
mentally.
John Nash s ending to college was prompted by an

This definition has the advantage of simplifying Clinical Decision Support to a functional concept.
Basic definition of a CDSS in its simplest form is that it is a decision support system (DSS) that is
used in the clinical setting. Often a Diagnostic Decision Support System DDSS is assumed to be
equivalent to a CDSS and are thought to be interchangeable. However, in a clinical setting, making
diagnoses based on clinical data is only a subset of the spectrum in which DSS can be used in a
clinical setting. Purpose/Goal
The main purpose of modern CDSS is to assist clinicians at the point of care. This means that a
clinician would interact with a CDSS to help determine diagnosis, analysis, etc. of patient data.
Previous theories of CDSS were to use the CDSS to literally make decisions for the clinician. The
clinician would input the information and wait for the CDSS to output the right choice and the
clinician would simply act on that output. The new methodology of using CDSS to assist forces the
clinician to interact with the CDSS utilizing both the clinician s knowledge and the CDSS to make a
better analysis of the patients data than either human or CDSS could make on their own. Typically the
CDSS would make suggestions of outputs or a set of outputs for the clinician to look through and the
clinician officially picks useful information and removes erroneous CDSS suggestions.

Tourism is one of the most important sectors that apply ICTs which already played a significant role in
this industry. It plays an important and vital role in the economic activity of Tunisia; it contributes to
budget balancing and solves many economic and social problems.
The Promotion of tourism services is the most important role that information and communications
technology contributes in the tourism sector. It ensures the task of delivering information for tourists

Information and communication technologies have a profound and positive impact on tourism in
Tunisia by opening outlets worldwide, improving information flow and realizing efficient gains
through better organization. The Internet, in particular, profoundly changed the distribution of tourism

  • 2. Generic Biologics As A Tool For Evaluating The Safety And... 1.Background/Statement Of Problem: Generic biologics (otherwise referred to as biosimilars or follow on biologics), are described by the FDA as biological products that are highly similar to already approved biological products, notwithstanding minor differences in clinically interactive components and for which there are no clinically meaningful differences between the biosimilar and the approved biological products in terms of safety, purity and potency [4]. Biosimilars are copies of approved biologics, whose patent protection has ended and are analogous to a generic version of a chemically derived drug. Generic biologics are however more complicated to develop than a generic version of a chemically derived drug owing to their complex structure and inherent variability [3]. The assessment of bioequivalence as a tool for evaluating the safety and efficacy is based on the fundamental Bioequivalence Assumption that if two drug products are shown to be bioequivalent in average bioavailability, it is assumed they will reach the same therapeutic effect and be used interchangeably [1]. However, characterizing generic versions of small molecules drugs is considerably easier than characterizing biologic drugs due to several key characteristics [3], based on the fact that characteristics of biologics are influenced by: choice of source materials (cell line), production process, purification process and the final pharmaceutical formulation. • 3. Roger Whetmore Case In early May, 4299, the four defendants and Roger Whetmore entered a limestone cavern. A landslide occurred while the group was far from the cavern s entrance, trapping the spelunkers inside. The only known entrance was the one blocked by the landslide. When the group failed to return home to their families, the Secretary of the Speluncean Society was contacted, and a rescue team was sent out immediately. The group of spelunkers had only brought very few supplies. New landslides caused the rescue to be significantly delayed than originally planned. On the twentieth day it was discovered the group had radios within the cave, and communication was achieved. The men were eventually rescued thirty two days after the first landslide had occurred. After their rescue, the defendants were charged with the murder of their fellow spelunker, Roger Whetmore. It was discovered on the twenty third day the group had killed and devoured their fellow spelunker. The verdict of the initial trial found the defendants guilty, and the four men were sentenced to be hung. The jury members requested the sentence be reduced to six months in jail. While the defendants are guilty of murdering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are more than 1000 classified hotels with a room availability of around 97,000 rooms which can easily cope with the demand of tourists. Furthermore, there are also a number of international names in the market which meet the needs of international tourists on their visit to India. In addition, there are many tourist attractions and the cost of labor is low in comparison with the rest of the world, thus, providing better margins for hotel owners and higher growth potential in the industry (Mohammad Arabzad an, 2012). 3.2 Weaknesses Next in line is assessing the weaknesses. • 5. Descriptive Essay About Pigeon Forge The most vivid memory I recall is of the first trip I ever made to my happy place, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Nothing could ever compare to those 5 days of pure happiness, without a single worry in the world. I truly believe this one little trip shaped the way I want to live the rest of my life. The trip to our destination was long, yet worth it. Me and my boyfriend (Tate) had long drive with many ups and downs. About halfway there, stopped in a quaint little town on the outskirts of Tennessee, both of our iPhone maps stopped working. It was perfectly okay though, because it was basically a straight shot to our destination. This long journey was full of excitement and anticipation to get there. As we made it ... The rocky rivers, unrelenting waterfalls, and glistening greenery really embodied the allure of The Great Smoky Mountains. Unfortunately at this point we just drove through because we were on our way to Gatlinburg, but we came back. Our first destination in Gatlinburg was the aquarium, because we are both fish lovers! We spent hours here, then went on our way elsewhere. Just walking down the streets of Gatlinburg could have kept us entertained for hours. Of course the kid in the both of us guided us to our next destination, the arcade! This was without a doubt my boyfriend s favorite part, we spent roughly the rest of the afternoon in here, but we didn t leave our cabin until about 11. There was this crazy clown game where you knock down clowns by throwing balls, and it was extremely addictive. Surprisingly we weren t the only older people in there. Chemistry is an immense subject that exists everywhere in the world, from chemical compounds in the human body to detergents used in daily basis, chemistry can be in anything we can think of. Reason why, ever since I was a junior in High School I dreamt with becoming a chemical engineer in the near future. Being a chemical engineer is not just about knowing chemistry, but also implementing the engineering principles to mass produce products, and share them with consumers. • 7. Pavel Alekseyevich Cherenkov and the Cherenkov Effect The 1958 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Pavel Alekseyevich Cherenkov, Ilya Frank and Igor Tamm for the discovery and the interpretation of the Cherenkov Effect. Cherenkov radiation is the electromagnetic radiation emitted by particles moving through a medium faster than the speed of light in the same medium. It was fist a detected by Soviet scientist Pavel Alekseyevich Cherenkov, of who the effect is named after and a theory was later developed by Ilya Frank and Igor Tamm. Cherenkov s contributions still live on as an invaluable tool in today s nuclear and subatomic particle physics with examples that include a way to detect and quantify the characteristics of subatomic particles to analyzing high energy cosmic signals from the deepest regions of space. More down to earth uses consist of safety procedures for nuclear reactors and the detection of low concentration biomolecules in the sick and elderly. Despite the underprivileged life as the child of Russian peasants, Pavel Cherenkov was able to graduate from the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of Voronezh State University in 1928 and went onto a post graduate course at the Academy of Science in St. Petersburg. His work in physics soon promoted him to a senior scientific officer at the P.N. Lebedev Institute, more commonly known as the physics branch of the Academy of Science in Moscow. • 8. Hospitals And Integrated Delivery Networks Hospitals and Integrated Delivery Networks NEED A TITLE Co authored by Jason Henry and Sharon Higgs ?2016. FedEx. All rights reserved. Introduction While adapting and complying with costly changes in regulations as well as increases in operating costs, hospitals have managed to remain profitable. This is due primarily through Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance reimbursements for services rendered. However, new health care reform initiatives reduce percentage of these reimbursements, especially for hospital inpatient services. Less reimbursements coupled with costly phased rolled out regulatory requirements is forcing some hospitals out of business. To stay afloat, hospital executives are looking at the second largest expense after labor; supply chain management. Executives are examining their business models and recognizing the need to scrutinize supply chain management practices, which represents nearly half of its operating expense. Relying on Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) and third party providers (3PLs) to negotiate contracts with suppliers to manage supply chain order fulfillment and transportation. This white paper focuses on how hospitals and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) can manage their inbound supply chain to reduce unnecessary costs and increase efficiencies to significantly improve their profit margins. Even though it is not said in the poem it is quite obvious to the reader that the free bird represents White Americans and the caged bird represents African Americans. Throughout the poem Angelou carries out the extended metaphor to express her view on society. The way the free bird claims to own the sky associates with the ideas of power and choice, this indicates an air of arrogance and selfishness as the White Americans assume that it is their place to own and dominate the world, despite others desires and needs. • 11. Persuasive Essay On Keeping The Driving Age Learning to drive is one of the most exciting times in a young person s life. For most, this begins around the age of fifteen. Also at this time, many teens are beginning high school and becoming accustomed to more responsibilities. The driving age has been sixteen years old for many years. Many learn how to safely drive during this time before going off to college where they no longer have parental supervision. Raising the driving age would only make college car crashes more likely than if they learned when they were younger. The driving age should remain the same because it allows teens to fulfill responsibilities, learn safe driving more easily, and reduce the risk of car crashes among college students. First, the current driving age allows busy teens to keep up with their full schedules and fulfill responsibilities. Many parents do not have the time to keep up with their own schedules as well as their children s. For this reason, having a license allows teens to be more independent, allowing them to learn responsibility for themselves. As teens learn to drive, they learn valuable life skills. They learn safety, awareness, and maturity. These are all very important life skills that one should have before they reach adulthood. If the driving age was raised, many would not ... • 13. Family Honor And Obedient Sacrifice In The Scarlet Letter... Family Honor Obedient Sacrifice Varying from person to person, the ideology of family culture tends to differ. Many people would define their own family culture differently, but there are times when it may overlap with another person. Throughout our world, there are many cultures. These can be divided into subcategories such as people or ethnic groups within a community to the social aspect of society. When it comes to specific cultures, it may result in people behaving or thinking a certain way. This ties into conformity. The question of whether or not conforming to society may bring honor or prevent shame to an individual or group is something that could be debateable. This paper will be exploring the idea of conformity between Scarlet Letter and Red Azalea. Both stories contain a womanly figure who takes charge in dealing with difficulties that may arise. The general idea of culture that is ingrained into the brains of many people, may consist of associating culture with countries or ethnic groups. One of the main key points to this term is that it incorporates much more than just those two aspects. When viewing it from a sociological perspective, culture can be deconstructed into 3 components. Through background knowledge after taking a sociology class, values, norms, and artifacts when combined, is what defines the term culture. The first problem deals with First State Bank and suggested configurations for the banks databases and data communications facilities. • 19. Nationalism vs Patriotism George Orwell wrote that nationalism was one of the worst enemies of peace. He defined nationalism as the feeling that your way of life, country, or ethnic group were superior to others. These types of feelings lead a group to attempt to impose their morality on any given situation. When those standards were not met, more often then not, war would result. In contrast he stated that patriotism was the feeling of admiration for a way of life etc. and the willingness to defend it against attack. The obvious difference between the two is that while patriotism is a passive attitude, nationalism is aggressive by nature. Orwell was writing this during the years just prior to World War Two when nationalism in Europe was running rampant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On their side the United States began their policy of propping up a variety of dictatorships under the guise of preventing the spread of communism. It s debateable whether these initial actions were driven more by real politick then nationalism, one side trying to limit the other sides power and influence more then an expansion and imposition of a way of life. But in the end the justifications for actions began to take on the sound of nationalistic fervour whatever the original intent. American governments began wrapping themselves in the flag of protectors of freedom and democracy under more and more spurious circumstances. Meanwhile the Soviets claims of liberation from the chains of capitalism and oppression became harder to swallow during the post Stalin revelations of mass murders and famine. Nationalism has a history in both countries as far back as their beginnings. Under the Tsars the Russian empire was just as expansionistic as the Soviets stretching their sphere of influence from the Balkans to the near east. In the U. To win this award, to me, would be a realization of all the hard work I have put in over the last four years. The goal of my efforts was not to build a strong resume for college applications or even for the Alpha Omega contest, but to challenge myself to grow as an individual, and to serve my community. Joining clubs and sports because they interested me, rather than in an attempt to have something else to write on applications in the future, is a strategy that helped me to excel in these endeavors. This act is translated into todays concept of rape, but as the narrative continues we see how Shechem tries to justify his manner by claiming he fell victim to love. Being drawn to Dinah, daughter of Jacob, and in love with the maiden, he spoke to the maiden tenderly (Genesis 34:3). This, however, is not admissible in the eyes of Israel s men. Shechem s behavior is considered an outrage in Israel...a thing not to be done , and therefore, hinders Shechem s aspiration of marriage to her (Genesis 34:7). One of the ways he is able to seek mercy is by offering Dinah s brothers and father a high bride price. This offering along with a promise for all men to be circumcised in accordance with God s command to their grandfather Abraham: This is my covenant between Me and you and your offspring to follow which you shall keep: every male among you shall be circumcised, is a fitting plea to their ears and Dinah is wed off (Genesis 17:10). But what about Dinah s ears? Who is to say that she wants to marry this man who defiled her? What is her view on it all? Ironically, there is no mention of Dinah s feelings or thoughts throughout Genesis 34. All the attention focuses not on Dinah, but the men around her. Gallipoli was one major fundamental factor in our culture. When you look back into the history of Australia at war you ll hear Anzacs and diggers a lot. These names all came from one war and in fact one battle. Anzac stands for the Australian New Zealand army corps. They seized ten metres of trench at a place called Courtney s Post, but Australians at either end stopped them from continuing to advance. At the northern end Jacka, with several of his mates, tried to get rid the Turkish at the post, but were beaten back. It was then decided that while a feint attack was made from the one end, Jacka would attack from behind. Jacka s mates waited long enough for Jacka to circle in behind and then threw two bombs and gave covering fire. Comparison Of Betty Neuman s Systems Model Comparison Assignment Betty Neuman s systems model is a systems theory that emphasizes the importance of the complex and ongoing interactions among all subsystems of an individual (Hood, 2014, p.128). Neuman s systems model focuses on decreasing external, internal, and environmental factors that could adversely affect an individual. Furthermore, Neuman s system model explains that these stressors can cause a specific response and a unique reaction that consequently wears off the defense lines that protect the person s inner core and preserve their health and well being (Hood, 2014, p.131). In contrast, Callista Roy s adaption model is a stress/adaption theory based on the premise that human response can adapt and change in terms of accommodation (Hood, 2014, p. 133). Roy s adaption model explains that human response to stimuli is dictated by the individual s adaptive modes, type of stimuli they were confronted by, level of adaption, and ability to cope (Hood, 2014). Moreover, as Hood (2014) states, a person s adaption level is determined by its response to a combination of focal, contextual, and residual stimuli. While Roy s adaption ... • 29. Stress And Oxidative Stress Aerobic organisms need molecular oxygen (O2) for respiration or oxidation of nutrients to obtain energy. There are some reactive by products of cellular respiration, derived from molecular oxygen, that are generated continuously in cells grown aerobically, such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) superoxide anion radical (O2 ), and the highly reactive hydroxyl radicals (OH).These reactive oxygen species (ROS) are essential for various functions such as homeostasis and cell signaling but an imbalance in favor of reactive oxygen species results in oxidative stress (OS) (Kashmiri et al.,2014). Oxidative stress (OS) result in interference in the functioning of biological systems that maintain levels of environmentally produced reactive oxygen species (ROS), by readily detecting and detoxifying them (Lucana et al., 2012). Living organisms have adopted mechanisms to protect themselves against oxidative stress, by producing enzymes such as catalase and superoxide dismutase, small proteins like thioredoxin and glutaredoxin, and molecules such as glutathione ( Cabiscol et al.,1999). Metallo enzymes such as superoxide dismutases are the primary antioxidant enzymes that protect cells from oxidative damage of superoxide radicals, by catalyzing dismutation of superoxide (O2 ) to hydrogen peroxide and oxygen. The documentary shows the overall journey of the Middle Passage and the trials involved, but the book Copper Sun by Sharon Draper portrays it in a different light. The novel follows an enslaved African by the name of Amari through the horrors of the capture, forced migration, and voyage to the land of the whites. A major and initial influential force in agile methodology was Dr. Winston Royce. In 1970, he published an article entitled Managing the Development of Large Software Systems . According to The World Health Organisation health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (WHO constitution, 1946). The WHO definition of health has regularly been scrutinised due to lack of mention of sexual, emotional, and spiritual health. Entrepreneurial characteristics which are most referred to with respect to both entrepreneurial leaders and organisations are innovativeness, proactiveness and risk taking (Chen, 2007; Kuratko, 2007; Gupta et al., 2004; Covin Slevin, 1991). Innovativeness is the ability and tendency of entrepreneurial leaders to think creatively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Fernald et al. (2005) argue that most of the tasks and roles of entrepreneurs are leadership based and Cogliser and Brigham (2004) emphasise that organisational leaders require entrepreneurial competencies to deal with the difficulties and impediments in the environment of current organisations. Specifically, scholars argue that entrepreneurial leaders competencies in anticipating the future, exploring new opportunities, creating novel ideas and providing an environment for staff that encourages and supports generating and implementing new ideas help organisational leaders face problems and achieve their vision (Burns, 2005; Gupta et al., 2004). Various factors such as personal characteristics, organisational and task performance demands and environmental factors affect the process of influencing followers that makes leadership as a highly challenging role for entrepreneurial leaders (Leitch et al., in press; Kempster Cope, 2010; Kempster, 2009, 2006). Despite these differences, however, there are also key similarities between entrepreneurial leadership and the terms that construct the concept: entrepreneurship and leadership. (See pages 7 and 10 for design and calculations) Second Design: After the analysis on the first design brought to light the zero for members, it was decided that these members should be removed. In order to combat the flex of such a simple design the decision was made to double the thickness. This design would have the same outer frame of two triangles with a height of 20 centimeters and a width of 40 centimeters. Instead of being spaced five centimeters apart the wood be bonded directly together using Gorilla Glue. Balsa wood, a very lightweight wood with properties similar to a dense foam, was used for the main supporting member. Basswood, a lightweight yet firm wood, was used for the horizontal member. The final design added a triple layer sheet of balsa wood to rear side of the truss. This balsa sheet was added for the purpose of mounting and supporting the main structure. Additionally, a five centimeter square frame of bass wood was added at the end of the boomilever to place the loading block for testing. Once this design was implemented two key issues were discovered. First, due to the properties of the bass wood and balsa wood it was obvious that the placement needed to be reversed. The bass wood should be used for the hypotenuse and the balsa wood should be used for the

  • 43. The Bolsheviks Lawyers would say that Europe, Asia, and the United States of America are completely different. However, from the point of view of the citizens, the similarities in their daily lives are numerous, even if some fundamental differences remain. To begin with the most obvious similarity and example: in the USA, as well as in parts of Europe, citizens use a single currency, identical to the currency of their neighboring States. Just as in Europe, in the USA, several decisions remain the responsibility of the states, such as highway code, certain taxes, social welfare, minimum wages, and certain areas of justice. It should not be unforeseen that the Bolsheviks worked hard to safeguard that any person potentially antagonistic to them did not retain arms. The first Soviet gun controls were enacted during the Russian Civil War, as Czarists, Western troops, and national independence movements fought the central Red regime. Firearm registration was instituted on April 1, 1918. In October 1918, the Council of People s Commissars (the government) ordered the renunciation of all firearms, ammunition, and sabers. As has been the case in nearly every nation where firearms registration has been introduced, registration proved a preamble to confiscation. Excused from the confiscation order, however, were affiliates of the Communist Party. A 1920 decree imposed a obligatory minimum penalty of six months in prison for non Communist possession of a firearm, even where there was no felonious intent. After the Red triumph in the Civil War, the firearm laws were consolidated in a Criminal Code, which if broken, unauthorized possession of a firearm would be punishable by rigid labor. A 1925 law made unauthorized possession of a firearm punishable by three months of hard labor, plus a fine of 300 rubles (equal to about four months wages for a highly paid construction worker). Stalin apparently found little need to alternate the weapons control structure he had inherited. This chapter of Lethal Laws summarizes the genocide perpetrated by Stalin from 1929 to 1953, starting with his efforts to collectivize farming by destroying the class of property owning farmers. Altogether, about twenty million people were murdered, worked to death in slave labor camps, or deliberately starved to death by Stalin s government. Stalin s successful campaign of genocide against the Kulaks and against dissident Communists served as a model for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Concealed Self In Tang This art analysis will argue in favor of the dissenting literati of the Song Dynasty that sought to underscore the concealed self of governmental punishment and the re discovery of self in landscape paintings of the Yuan and Ming Dynasties. During the Song Dynasty, governmental scholar officials were often expected to challenge the policies of the government, which caused some officials to self edit themselves due to fear of punishment from the Emperor. Song era landscape painters concealed their literary symbolism in the landscape paintings produced by scholar officials. However, some scholar officials chose to re discover the self by retreating to the countryside to create landscape paintings as a form of public dissent against the new Mongolian government of the Yuan Dynasty. In essence, an analysis of the concealed self in Northern Song paintings will be contrasted by the re discovery of self in the public dissent of Yuan and Ming literati painters in the landscape painting style. After the fall of Tang Dynasty, Song Dynasty scholar officials sought to re discover the self through the paintings of Northern Song Dynasty painters, such as Su Shi, define the desire of scholar officials to find peace and harmony in the rural retreat from urban life at the royal court. For instance, Su Shi s Ancient tree and Rock is a famous work of the Northern Song period, which breaks with academic or courtly traditions in art by applying simple brush strokes as a form of silent dissent against the authority of the Emperor. Schizophrenia can be described by many different symptoms, but most cases contain illogical thoughts or hallucinations (1). This mental disease became a prominent factor in John Nash s life during his early adulthood. At this time, he was studying to obtain his doctorate at Princeton University. Although he had such an immaculate knowledge, it was his mind that was his downfall. His problems began by fantasizing a roommate named Charles Herman. This fantasy stays with him for the rest of his life. Once graduating with a doctorate, he begins working for the Massachusetts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this is not a huge indicator of schizophrenia, it still seems to be a little awkward. One of his main characteristics throughout the movie was his seldomness. It took a major role in his college days and his time working at MIT. In both cases, he would isolate himself to not be around people, and to also work on his projects. I also noticed that his knowledge of what great intellect he had allowed him to be insanely self confident, but he never showed any of it because he never spoke to anyone. A scene in the movie that caught my eye was the part whenever Hansen and Nash were playing a game. Nash lost and instantly emitted a dumbfounded expression, he could not grasp that he had actually lost. This frustrated John because he thought he had calculated it perfectly, and that everything was in his favor. His competitiveness defined him, that is what made John Nash push himself to unbelievable mental distances. This competitiveness also lead to his fear in failure. All he knew was success, and whenever he would fail, he would destroy himself to make sure he did not make that mistake again. His sporadic mind allowed him to take failure and criticize himself harshly. He busted his head into a glass window to tell himself that he was messing up and that he was a loser. It is okay to discipline yourself if you are wrong, but not to that extreme. He used his physical outside to absorb the hurt he was feeling mentally. This definition has the advantage of simplifying Clinical Decision Support to a functional concept. Basic definition of a CDSS in its simplest form is that it is a decision support system (DSS) that is used in the clinical setting. Often a Diagnostic Decision Support System DDSS is assumed to be equivalent to a CDSS and are thought to be interchangeable. However, in a clinical setting, making diagnoses based on clinical data is only a subset of the spectrum in which DSS can be used in a clinical setting. Purpose/Goal The main purpose of modern CDSS is to assist clinicians at the point of care. This means that a clinician would interact with a CDSS to help determine diagnosis, analysis, etc. of patient data. Previous theories of CDSS were to use the CDSS to literally make decisions for the clinician. The clinician would input the information and wait for the CDSS to output the right choice and the clinician would simply act on that output. The new methodology of using CDSS to assist forces the clinician to interact with the CDSS utilizing both the clinician s knowledge and the CDSS to make a better analysis of the patients data than either human or CDSS could make on their own. Typically the CDSS would make suggestions of outputs or a set of outputs for the clinician to look through and the
