end of slavery. Hughes communicates the cultural origin of blues music by focusing the poem
on a Negro who plays and sings blues music. However as the poem progresses, Hughes describes

states what goes on in the Negro s head while sleeping and describes him as sleeping like a rock or

Sex education provides information on sex, bodily development, sexuality, and aids in the making
of informed decisions in relationships regarding sex. Sex is human nature, yet it is still censored
heavily especially to adolescents who are developing and approaching the stage of puberty. Sex

and parts of South America. This natural disaster had massive effects on the region from
environmental to economic effects. It sent numerous countries in to a state of emergency and was

Social Identity
There are multiple social identities a person holds such as race, sex, class and sexual orientation.
In each society there is typically a group within each of these categories that benefits from their
membership in that group, commonly referred to as the dominant group. Accordingly, there is a
group, or groups, that hurt from not being a part of the dominant group. While there are hundreds
of cultures and societies around the globe, many of the same groups consistently dominate within
an identity. An identity I have that falls under the privileged group within America is being white.
The benefits I have received from being apart of this social group have existed since I first entered
school at the age of four and I continue to benefit from them, under no fault or good behavior of
my own. In a previous HumanRelations course I took, we discussed the difference in how
dominant and subordinate groups go about their day to day life. One of the major differences
happens around the time a person enters school. An easy way to generally know if you belong
to a privileged group is to ask yourself if you ever had to be taught about what it means to belong

To me, it wasn t. I was easy to get picked on as I was chubby and I am unable to speak Bahasa

him. When I moved to Malaysia, he could tell that I was timid. When he sat next to me, he
began to ask questions about my age, the places I ve been and my impression of Malaysia. At
first, I did not know what to do because usually, no one would go up to me. When he struck a
conversation, I began to mumble and he could tell I was scared. As he realized this, he took me
around the school and I asked him questions such as How is the community here? Are they
friendly? When I asked him these questions, he immediately knew I got bullied frequently. He

Czechoslovakia split into two independent countries. The peaceful separation created the Czech

In this day and age, soap is manufactured with a process called saponification. This is the process
of where fats and oils are heated with the presence of a strong base usually sodium hydroxide or
potassium hydroxide, this produces a fatty acid salt and glycerol. The salt of the fatty acid is the
waxy and soft material of the soap. Soap is one of the greatest products to be ever invented by
humans. It has a great deal of multi purposes such has getting objects clean or even killing
bacteria. Just like any other inventions, soap has its flaws. One of the main flaws would be that it
has a tendency to form precipitates in hard water. Washing with soap in hard water leads to
reacting with chemicals to form sum, which forces to throw out the soap since you cannot clean
anything. In 1916 the first synthetic soap was invented in Germany during World War I due to the
shortage of fats for making the soap as well so it doesn t react with hard water.8 The pH, how it
lathers, removes grease and removes dirt is how a soap can be determined to be a either a good

One night two woodcutters were working in a big forest of pines, the night was very cold and
there was snow on the grass so they decided go at home early, they were walking when suddenly
something fell from the sky in the snow, they thought it was a treasure, but it was a golden robe
with stars and inside was a baby with a chain around his neck sleeping.
They were very poor people and had many children so they don t wanted more children. One of
the woodcutters took the baby in his arms and went at home. When they arrived, his wife was

In the story Desi Hoop Dreams a character named Mustafa expresses relational and intersectional
dimensions. The story compares and contrasts identities of different cultures within the Atlanta
basketball society. Race, class, gender, and ethnicity are all demonstrated through different ways in
the eyes of Mustafa. Mustafa s ideas about himself and others give examples of what South Asian
American life is like in the United States. We see the relational and intersectional identities in the
story when Mustafa is playing basketball, going to clubs, and eating at Waffle House with his
friends.
Many South Asian Americans are often stereotyped as terrorist figures or nerds in the United
States. Their masculinity is also questioned on the basketball court. Mustafa tries to mimic
American masculinity and citizenship by playing basketball in different leagues. This is a
relational identity, because he looks at Americans and contrasts their intersecting identities to his
