Speech On Roswell Incident 1947
Speech on the Roswell incident 1947 Can you imagine the U.S government lying to the public to
cover up extraterrestrial life? According to the widely held public opinion, near Roswell, New
Mexico, in July 1947 the United States government recovered a crashed UFO and its extraterrestrial
occupants. This was referred to as the Roswell Incident and the U.S. military had covered the issue up
quickly. The original story in the eyes of non UFO buffs for this conspiracy is that on the fourth of
July weekend 1947 a rancher William Brazel reported to the sheriff that he recover the remains of one
of them flying saucers the military was then contacted and Major Jesse Marcel was assigned to
investigate the site. On the 8th of July 1947 after Marcel and 2 Counter Intelligence Corps agents
examined and collected the wreckage there was an announcement to the public that they recovered the
remains of a flying disc . But the next day this was clarified in a press conference that what was
recovered was only a weather balloon and nothing more. This has killed the ... Show more content on

Having so many witnesses seems like hard evidence but this can be misleading. The relevant issue
was not how many but the quality of the witnesses such as if they were firsthand or second hand
witnesses and how truthful these accounts are. Bill Moore and Charles Berlitz s only present 25 of the
claimed 70 testimonies in The Roswell Incident . Out of these 25 only 7 are first hand sources that
claim they saw the alleged saucer remains and only 5 say they handled the material personally and 1
of them claim that the material was not from an extraterrestrial spacecraft. The rest of the witnesses
are secondary sources from hearsay or did not see the wreckage at

Conversion Of A Lawn Mower Essay
Conversion of a lawn mower to generator.
INTRODUCTION:
The lawn mower used had a 3.5 Horse power Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke gas engine. That particular
model motor has a safety shut off lever on the lawn mower handle which has a cable attached to the
motor, and the attached cable must be activated to disengage the motor shut off break and to allow
spark to reach the spark plug. What was decided was to cut the cable off and deactivate the motor shut
off feature. If the motor has this feature, the cable will have to be observed and also the levers on the
motor to figure out a way to deactivate or preserve the feature. In both cases the motor will not start
unless something is done about the cable and levers.
A small hole was discovered in one of the lever plates on the side of the engine, the cable was then
pulled, and a small nail was then inserted into the lever to keep the mechanism from retracting and
shutting off the motor. As stated earlier, it will take a bit of time to figure out how the motor shut off
mechanism works (if there is one installed on the motor).
PROCEDURE:
The first step is to remove the motor from the lawn mower base. Typically, there are 3 or 4 bolts
holding the motor to the base, but before they can be removed, the mower blade and the shaft coupler
that holds the blade on the motor shaft will need to be removed. Getting the blade and the coupling off
is slightly difficult, but removing the blade is not nearly as difficult, however still requires a

Lowering The Voting Age Essay
Teenagers are the future of the world and should be given the right to make decisions that will impact
their futures too. Lowering the voting age will be a great benefit to the United States and 16 year olds
have a better understanding about the system than 18 year olds due to the education they are receiving
making them a little more mature to make the right decision to vote. The benefits of reducing the age
to 16 are the advantages teens get of learning how the voting system functions at an early age.
Lowering the voting age is a very argumental subject but teens will become more interested in voting
since it will be a big deal if they are allowed to vote. It is crucial for a teenager at 16 years old to be
able to vote and give their opinions on politics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of them go for a driver s permit test and are eligible in the next six months to pass the driving
license exam and most of them pass. If they are old enough to be eligible to drive a vehicle they are
old enough to give an opinion on politics and vote. If they are mature enough to drive a car, then
voting shouldn t be much of a challenge (Hernandez A. 1). Teens are able to take responsibility, like
voting, more serious if it will have an impact in their life.
Teens are more smarter than what they get credit for. 16 year olds can register in the military which
comes with the idea of young people and their vulnerability to die while out in combat. Aged 16, a
teenager can get married or enter a civil partnership and consent to a sexual relationships, pay income
tax and national insurance, become a company director, join the army or a trade union and give their
full consent to life or death medical procedures. (The Guardian View on Lowering the Voting Age to
16). Teenagers are able to take many responsibilities, voting should be one of

Importance Of Water Infrastructure
The basic physical and organizational structures that is used to transfer goods, people and information
is infrastructure. We all use infrastructure in our daily life like roads, water system at our home,
sewage system and much more.
WATER INFRASTRUCTURE: The term water infrastructure includes water and wastewater systems
and includes water treatment facilities, water mains, distribution pipes, pressure reducing stations,
water meters, pumping stations, sanitary and storm sewers, sewage pipes, storm water pipes,
manholes, septic tanks and lift stations.
Importance of water infrastructure: Water and wastewater infrastructure is essential to keep our
waterways clean and our communities healthy. Water infrastructure of Canada is launching a new
water and wastewater Fund to provide communities with more reliable water and wastewater systems.
As water infrastructure is one of the infrastructure which is directly related to health of human being
and animals as well as water is natural resource which needs to be conserved for future. If we have
well maintained water infrastructure in country, it will help a lot to our economy because it will save
our natural resource, people health and will also control water pollution. So, we need to maintain
water infrastructure time to time. We also need to upgrade it with new features that should separate
solid waste and water mixed with it. Than waste water should filtered, cleaned and recycled so that it
can be used again for irrigation,

Differences Between The Wallaby And Eukaryony In Kingdom...
Do you know about the wallaby? The Wallaby is an animal that looks like a kangaroo. Though they
have many similarities with the kangaroo, they are slightly different from the kangaroo. Most common
way to distinguish the difference between the wallaby and kangaroo is their size. The Wallaby is much
smaller than the kangaroo. Their heights are about 30 to 180 and they weight about 20kg. They can
run up to 48kms per hour and live from 12 to 15 years. (Anonymous, no date) The Wallaby belongs in
Kingdom Animalia. (N, P, et al, 2015) Kingdom Animalia s animals are eukaryotic. This means the
cells have membrane around the nucleus. The Wallaby is also heterotrophic, so must eat something.
The Wallaby is a herbivore, so it eats plants or fruits. (No author, no date) The Wallaby is mobile, so it
can move freely. The Wallaby has many cells because it is multicellular and the cells have to live
together unlike colonial organisms. Wallabies do sexual reproduction, which means they need two
DNAs (father s DNA and mother s DNA) to make a baby. Because of these attributes, the wallaby is
in Kingdom Animalia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

commonly is known as back bone. All chordates have a notochord at first, but some turn into vertebrae

the brain communicate with the small nerves. It is protected by the notochord. All

Symbolism In The Bluest Eye
orrison used is satire. Morrison satirizes the internalized racism and what it can do to the most
vulnerable member of a community, a young girl. At the same time, she does not want to dehumanize
the people who wound this girl, because that would simple repeat their mistakes. Morrison decided to
write a novel about how internalized racism affects young black girls in a range of ways, some petty
and minute, some tragic and overwhelming. Many critics explore how Morrison challenges prevailing
stereotypes of African American women, especially in the women centered novels, like The Bluest
Eye (Raynor and Butler 175). The author also uses a lot of symbolism throughout ... Show more

It is reference to Dick and Jane. The Dick and Jane text implies one of the primary and most insidious
ways that the dominant culture exercises its hegemony through the educational system (Gibson 20).
Dick and Jane in the eyes of Pecola are the epitome of beauty. They are happy and are part of the
perfect family and everything Pecola wishes to have. One of the key trade marks of Morrison work is
her frequent use of significant references to history. These historical roots add more depth to the
stories and make them more realistic. outdoors, we knew, was the real terror of life. The threat of

implications of a time period surface in The Bluest Eye through what Pecola has learned from her
parents about the real world. More specifically, she utilizes similes in her writing to help the reader

Electronic Voting Is Not Fair
Electronics always fail, no matter what, I think that the Untited States should stop using electronic
voting because its not really fair and in some ways you get cheated out. In 2013, a national magazine
ran an articile about a man who explained how, with basic computer knowledge and tools, was able to
tamper with votes on EVMs. Life is about being fair and I think everyone should be treated equal, the
time tested method of paper ballots does just that and is the best way to go in my opinion becuase it
works accurately and cannot be tampered with in any way. While electronic voting is often a more
simple proccess and has made voting a lot easier for voters with age or disabilty and 97% of people
with different age, races, and physical ability,

How Did Augustus Caesar Use Propaganda
Introduction
Art and architecture consist the expression of society s ethos and moral character; they function as its
mirrors. Especially during times of crisis, change or instability, they reflect the state of its values.
When we look back in Rome in 27 BCE, the time when Augustus Caesar founded the Roman
Principate and became its first emperor, art served as one of his media to first claim, then establish and
finally stabilize his domination. As Paul Zanker comments rarely has art been pressed into the service
of political power so directly as in the Age of Augustus .
Augustus was a political genius who accomplished to establish peace (Pax Romana which is
sometimes called Pax Augusta to honour his name) and stabilize his position as the Roman emperor
between his rivals with great ingenuity. In order to understand the statement above, we need to discuss

The use of propaganda throughout time, especially when it comes to politics, is a common and widely
adopted means of predominance and influence of the masses. However, looking back into history, few
people of power and politicians used propaganda as successfully and effectively as the first emperor of
Rome, Augustus Caesar.
As briefly mentioned above, over time Augustus dramatically altered the balance of power in the
Roman governance system without seeming to do so; indeed, in Res Gestae 34.3 he explicitly
claimed, I exceeded all in influence, but I had no greater power than the others who were colleagues
with me in each magistracy .
To understand Augustus means of influence to his audience and his agenda is to understand the man
himself as well as his ambitions for the Roman Empire. In an attempt to categorize his work, it can be
claimed that Augustus had two main themes in the use of propaganda. The first theme was correlated
to his concern to establish himself, his right to rule and his influence, while the second one was his
ambition to create and maintain peace and

The Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting

They had their entire lives ahead of them birthdays, graduations, weddings, kids of their own. Among
the fallen were also teachers, men and women who devoted their lives to helping our children fulfill
their dreams ( STUDENT NEWS ). One morning in Newtown, Connecticut, many children and staff
of Sandy Hook Elementary were ready to begin their daily routine of attending school, or work.
Unfortunately, they were not aware that this would be the last time they do so. The shooting at Sandy
Hook Elementary ended the lives of several staff and young children. This devastating tragedy added
fuel to the controversial gun argument. Parents of the children lobbied to pass gun reform laws which
would help provide safety for citizens and prevent awful events similar to this from occurring in the
future.
The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting occurred on December 14, 2012, in Newtown,
Connecticut, when 20 year old Adam Lanza shot twenty children and six adult staff members ( Sandy
Hook Elementary School Shooting ). It was the deadliest mass shooting at a high school or grade
school in U.S. history and the second deadliest mass shooting by a single person in America (
Screening Sandy Hook ). Several families lost a loved one all due to someone s selfishness to provoke
harm to many innocent lives. At some point before he went to the school, investigators believe Adam

Stereotypes In The Film, Goon By Seann William Scott
Do you ever feel like everyone has a thing ? That one thing, something they re good at? But you just
can t seem to find your thing? Then you share the same feeling with Doug Glatt, played by Seann
William Scott has in the movie Goon. All Dougs family and friends have their thing, his parents and
brother are doctors, his best friend has a hockey themed webcast he owns, but Doug has nothing but
his job as a bouncer at the local bar. All that changes when a hockey coach witnesses Doug in a fight,
bashing some unfortunate souls face in, he quickly offers doug the opportunity to play hockey as an
enforcer claiming, You ve been touched by the fist of God for Christ s sake! . An enforcer is a player
in hockey who is on the ice solely to protect the team s star players, they are goons .
The movie takes you along with Doug on his journey to getting payed to play for a team in
Massachusetts as an enforcer for their star player Xavier Laflamme played by Marc AndrƩ Grondin. It
s a long road for Doug considering he has never played hockey let alone skated. As Doug fights,

love the movie Goon and for me it s an easy 6 out of 5 stars. One of the most amazing concepts to this
movie is the plot is actually one hundred percent possible! And even better you don t have to know
anything about hockey to love this movie, just don t let it give you the wrong impression of the game
of hockey, although the vulgar language and crude jokes are something that is like clockwork in
hockey; it s not all

Antoinette s Identity In Wide Sargasso Sea By Jean Rhys
In the novel Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys, Antoinette Mason s identity is frequently discussed.
Antoinette, the daughter of ex slave owners and a woman whose life is dictated by mental illness,
grows up in the Caribbean as a Creole during the nineteenth century. As a young adult, she is forced
into a marriage with a white man from England, an event that ultimately leads Antoinette to her
downfall. At the start of the novel, Antoinette and the characters around her are optimistic about their
identity and future. As the plot progresses, Antoinette increasingly struggles to understand who she is
and what her future entails. Ultimately, Antoinette loses her identity and her purpose. Throughout the
text there are many reoccurring motifs. A motif ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Antoinette s husband takes her to England, he locks her up in the attic and leaves her without a
sense of self. Antoinette says that There is no looking glass here and I don t know what I am like
now.... Now they have taken everything away. What am I doing in this place and who am I? (107).
Without being able to see herself through a looking glass, Antoinette doesn t understand who she or
what her purpose is, which is very upsetting for her. This loss of self identity causes Antoinette to act
out and worsens her mental health issues. When Antoinette sneaks out of the attic and sees herself in
the looking glass, she says she sees the ghost, the man with the streaming hair (???). After being
locked away, she is unable to recognize her own physical appearance. Through this description, Rhys
is showing that Antoinette s identity has been completely taken away from her and recognizing the
importance of knowing who we are. As, without an identity, Antoinette no longer has a purpose for

Dare Case Study
#1 1. The previous research given makes it seem doubtful that the DARE program is working. I
understand it s useful to have both sides in an article, but the evidence done over a 10 year span. That
makes the current study look pointless to do, because we can always develop new programs if the
current one such as DARE is not working.
2. The return rate of the surveys is surprisingly low. This is not adequate information, because the
people who returned the surveys are mostly likely on opposite spectrums. The parents either really
like the DARE program or hate it. Considering the program is about stopping children from using
drugs, it s probably parents who really liked the program returned the survey. Another point to bring
up is that these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do not think the reading comprehension test was adequate, since it was only a 10 item test. Quizzes
can be helpful to show how students are performing, but that does not represent a multi chapter exam.
A 50 question exam would better represent not only the students comprehension of the material but
their ability apply it and remember it.
5. I thought the researchers use of multiple scales was very helpful to provide more evidence. In
psychology, we are testing for ideas or concepts that are not observable. It s important to rely on more
than one type of research to capture these changes in scores or perception. It also gave the study a
higher chance of showing a significant difference.
6. The absence of a control group is a crucial downfall. There is no comparison that can be done
between the groups. The researchers could have at least included compared scores of a neighboring
school for reference. Although this is a research article, the lack of a control group makes this not a

Electoral College Voting System
It s interesting to notice that in those four disputed elections of 1800, 1824, 1876 and 1960, the winner
of the popular vote didn t become President because they weren t the winners of the Electoral College
votes. The first two instances were mainly due to an unorganized system because of the early
establishment. However, there is a recurring pattern in the later elections.
In 1800, the problem was that the electors had two votes, one for President and one for the Vice
President, which, based on the outcome, resulted in the adoption of the 12th Amendment which
ensured that a tied vote for President wouldn t happen again. In the 1824 election resulted in the
creation of two political parties which were the Democratic and the Whig parties.

The purpose of this experiment was to determine the cloning, transformation, DNA purification and
protein purification of enzyme homoserine transsuccinylase from Streptococcus pneunomiae

means the experiment was not successful. The transformation process presented that there were no

First, PCR technique was used to amplify the SpHTS gene. PCR is a molecular biology technique for
replicating DNA without using a living organism, such as E. coli or yeast (1). The PCR process was
carried in a thermal cycler which denatures the double DNA strands. Then, primers was annealed to
the single DNA strand. Then, 4 primers were used from a given DNA sequence in the experiment.
Primer 1 and 2 were used for PCR sample A with around 500 base pairs, and primer 3 and 4 were used

King Lear Influences
A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots
(Garvey). Garvey s allusion to a tree s roots depicts the human experience and the importance of
understanding our past. Everyone sees the tree (plays), but not necessarily the roots (the background
story ) that make these works classic. These influences define the works, affecting them in ways
unseen to the human eye. The roots give the tree life. William Shakespeare utilizes numerous
influences to make his plays unique. He employs many Elizabethan Era themes, characterization
techniques, and culture in his writing. All of these impacted his life in the late 1500s and provided
both underlying main points and details for his plays. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The audience already has an idea of the history behind the plays, and this affects how people view the
characters and what judgements they have before they even watch the plays with conflicts such as
male v. female, old v. young, and many others. Shakespeare has an even amount of his strongest/main
characters being both male and female, but this does not mean he does not use gender roles to make
the stories more believable. In King Lear, Shakespeare, through Lear, is supporting these roles by
saying: suspend thy purpose if thou didst intend/to make this creature fruitful (King Lear 1.4.289 290),
and is indicating that the woman s only job is to give birth, and so the worst curse for them would be
to get rid of the one thing they are actually meant to do. But, Shakespeare has many examples of
breaking the gender norms, and Antony and Cleopatra is arguably Shakespeare s most gender
redefining play (Moss, Antony and Cleopatra 296). In one of the opening scenes, Caesar states, the
lamps of night in revel, is not more manlike/Than Cleopatra, nor the queen of Ptolemy/ More
womanly than he (Antony and Cleopatra 1.4.5 7), which shows that women are supposed to be
womanly, but Egypt s ideals are backwards. While in Egypt it is fine, in Rome, Antony would be
mocked. Antony and Cleopatra also spends time defining two types of women, if beauty, flashiness,
and riggishness do not settle, /Wisdom and modesty can harbour /The heart of Antony, Octavia is/A
blessĆØd lottery to him (Antony and Cleopatra 2.2.265 266, 274 276). Both women are represented
here, Cleopatra as beautiful and ambitious, while Octavia is more obedient, wise and modest, but
Shakespeare or his characters never state which is better, but rather they are both equal in different
senses. The generation problem is also evident in Shakespeare s plays, especially in King Lear. Lear is
old, and his first daughter

Pascal Boyer s Explanation Of Religion Summary
First of all, Pascal Boyer begins by giving common explanations of religion, all of them have some
logic and good understanding. Also, he introduces by saying that psychology, anthropology, and
neuroscience offer more empirical approach in acquiring and representing religious concepts. In fact,
he gives a table represented by Do s and Don ts in the study of religion, apparently what he wants us
to say and not say. He keeps saying the important that is our understanding of why religion is easy to
acquire and transmit by giving us what he thinks are the two main points of this statement, religion
does not activate particular capacity in the mind and religion and no religion are parts of our mental
equipment. He starts arguing that people defend their beliefs according to his view in what he call
sleep of reason interpretation. However, Boyer is not satisfactory at all with the sleep of reason
because some pieces of that information will have effect in some people but not others, and he express
that he could make up hundreds of such interesting and irrefutable beliefs that no one would ever
consider as a possible belief. Through the reading Pascal differs that all human beings do not have full

confused and of course feel different concepts about religion. Additionally, Boyer is able to present a
very dense network of theories which not only explains many religious phenomena but also sets them
in relation to each other. The integration of cognitive science research leads to a very realistic model
of how religious concepts are processed and communicated. Also, Boyer s account of the natural basis
of religion explains very well the persistence and re emergence of religion even in a secularized
environment, as well as the tensions between official and folk religion. In addition

Use Matlab to Understand Bonds Valuation
Use Matlab to get an intuitive understanding of bonds valuation.
1. Basic knowledge:
1.1 The price equation and its six contributing factors
As we know, there are six factors that determine the expected price of bonds: the par value(F), the
maturity(n) the yield to maturity(y), the coupon interest(CF), the interest payment frequency(m), and
the interest rates for each period(ri).
We assume that the coupon interest is fixed, then the price of bonds(P)is the discounted cash flows of
each period:
P=i=1nm(CF(1+ym)i)+F(1+ym)mn=i=1nm(CF(1+rim)i)+F(1+rnm)mn
Indeed, to intuitively understand this equation is not easy. Firstly, we can see that the yield to
maturity(y) is a kind of average of the interest rates(ri) for each ... Show more content on

ART 200 (Corbin)
October 29, 2015
For this project I visited multiple online museums, but decided on The Metropolitan Museum of Art,
National Gallery of Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Three pieces of artwork that I found to be
interesting to me and that caught my eye are The Harvesters by Pieter Bruegel the Elder found at
http://www.metmuseum.org, Open Window, Collioure by Henri Matisse found at http://www.nga.gov,
and Christ Washing the Feet of His Disciples by Nicolas Bertin found at http://www.artic.edu. There
are a lot of pieces of art to choose from in each museum, so I had to figure out a way to narrow it
down to three. While browsing through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bertin tended to paint pictures of subject who are religious, mythological, and allegorical. This
painting in particular portrays Christ washing Saint Peter s feet right after the Last Supper. There is a
strong focal point in this painting and it is the man standing in the red robe with his hand on his chest.
There is also a lot of activity in this painting as well because there is Christ to the left washing the feet
surrounded by his disciples, the women in the background at the table, and the man to the right fixing
his shoe. Bertin used a lot of facial expressions for each of the people in this painting from puzzled to
humiliation. The size of this oil on panel painting is 1 ft 7.5 inches by 2 ft 4.75

God s Omnipotence
Some people refer God as the Omnipotent, that is to say a being that has unlimited power, and is able
to do everything. God has four different attributes, he is omniscient, simple, eternal and omnipotent.
The latter raises some difficulties, and paradoxes. In a first part I will show how omnipotence can be
defined differently, how radical omnipotence differs with limited omnipotence and the issue with
logic. Then I will show how God s omnipotence raises some paradoxes and contradictions, by relying
on the paradox of the stone and the problem of evil. Finally I will try to answer some questions
concerning God s ability to sin, to bring about the past, and to do things not done by him. Does God s
powers have a limit, could it then be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Mackie, 1955)The claim that evil is necessary as a counterpart to good (Mackie, 1955, p.203) errs,
indeed we can again assert that as God made the laws of logic it would be possible for only good to
exist in the world.
Nevertheless the existence of evil in the world is required to prove what good really is. Without evil,
everything, every actions are considered good. But if good is everywhere, it becomes difficult to
measure it, and we cannot compare it with other actions. To be good is to possess and display moral
virtue, but how can we do that if evil does not exist ? Good has to be opposed to evil, for it to exist. It
then does not distract it with God s omnipotence. Mackie (1955) reckons that first order evil such as
pain and misery contrasts with first order good pleasure and happiness . Moreover a second order
good such as sympathy can only exist if there is a second order evil suffering , similarly with heroism
in facing danger (Mackie, 1955, p.206). But according to Mackie this claim fails, in fact the second
order evil that is cowardice or cruelty (Mackie, 1955, p.207) is rising as much as another second order
good. And if God were omnipotent and morally good he would try and eliminate those evils.
Regarding evil and omnipotence many philosophers have taken the position that human have freewill
and are independent of God. And that

Bugsy Siegel and his Visions on Las Vegas
The notorious Benjamin Bugsy Siegel envisioned Las Vegas to be a great gambling city, and left the
Flamingo behind as a symbol of his contribution to the extravagant lifestyle; however, it is unknown
to most that building the Flamingo impacted his personal life as much as it made an impression on
other s lives for many years to come. Siegel faced a great many challenges during the construction on
the Flamingo hotel. His life became engulfed by the project, affected his business and personal life,
and even created a name for him that would continue down in history. Benjamin Bugsy Siegel was
born into a poor Jewish family in 1906 in Brooklyn and raised there for the remainder of his
childhood. At a young age, Siegel had already developed a troublesome personality and became
involved in gangs that were from the lower east side of Manhattan. Being a part of the local gangs,
Bugsy had committed numerous crimes, the main ones being theft. Often he would steal money from
merchants or just threaten them until they paid him a certain amount. It was not until his teenage years
that he met Meyer Lansky, a now infamous mobster, and became part of the mafia. Lansky and Siegel
became close friends during their youth, which also happened to be the same time that Meyer Lansky
was putting together a small time mob. As author Ric Dickinson, author of Benjamin Bugsy Siegel,
stated in his article, During adolescence, Siegel befriended Meyer Lansky, who was forming a small
mob whose

because the increased temperature in surface waters and the lower atmosphere will (and already is)
increase the frequency and intensity of such storm systems (Meyer). With these stronger storms comes
massive economically and environmentally damage that could be on the scale or even larger than
storms like Hurricane Katrina (which caused over 120 billion dollars in damage).
Of course, the increased global temperature would also change the weather patterns, potentially
affecting many regions. Which has already been happening in current times for instance, from March

And unfortunately, many animals will be unable to adapt to changes, leading to the Earth s next mass
extinction.
When this mass extinction occurs, the Earth will lose a massive amount of its biodiversity.
Biodiversity is the variety of all lifeforms on the planet. And the biggest victims of this loss of
biodiversity would be the coral reefs, the most biodiverse ecosystem on the planet. The ocean serves
as a Carbon Sink , absorbing a large amount of Carbon but when the ocean absorbs too much Carbon
dioxide, it warms and a process known as ocean acidification occurs. The Carbon dioxide mixes with
the water and carbonate in the ocean creating bicarbonate ions (Talk), and when the ocean gets too
acidic, the corals die off, giving off a bleached look thus rending the ecosystem uninhabitable. Hence
the term Coral bleaching, this is huge because coral reefs contain about 25% of the world s marine
biodiversity. From a human perspective, the biodiversity loss risk human security. As many things can
recede or disappear like medicines, or food sources may be harder to obtain as the sources they come
may disappear.

Representation Of The House Of Representatives
The legislature of the United States consists of two houses, the Senate and the House of
Representatives. The bicameral system was created by the Founding Fathers in order to carry out one
of the most imperative functions of Congress, representation amongst other function such as
legislation, deliberation and scrutiny. The Senate ensures each state is equally represented with two
congressmen, equally the House of Representatives also has to carry out the function of representation
but its representatives unlike the Senate are proportioned to the population of the states for example
California has 55 representatives however Alaska has 1. Even though representation is an important
and well known function of the legislature the extent to which it is carried out can be argued to have
declined in the subsequent years due to factors such as the expansion of the population. The role of
representation was intended to be carried out in 13 states under the Founding Fathers however the
increase to 50 has made this function increasingly difficult. The creation of the House of
Representatives ensured the function of representation would be carried out as the house was
proportioned to equally represent all the states. Having a set number of representatives in one states
according to population ensures that the voices of that state s population can be heard effectively. The
Framers choice of a bicameral system was in part a choice to leverage two different representational
schemes. The

The Carnivalesque Role of the Fool in Twelfth Night and...
Twelfth Night and The Servant of Two Masters both relate to this course s theme of the carnivalesque.
Both plays share the commonality of having a clown, or a fool; in Twelfth Night it is Feste or the Fool,
and in The Servant of Two Masters it is Truffaldino. Both characters play the fool in contrasting ways
to express similar yet different forms of the carnivalesque. During carnival, laughter is prominent;
people are laughing together, they are laughing at each other, and they are being laughed at. The
laughter of carnival is both malicious and happy and everyone is included in it. Feste and Truffaldino
show the different aspects of carnival laughter through their portrayals of the fool. Feste plays the role
of the artificial fool ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Truffaldino is too immersed in the action of the play to even notice the laughter of others. Because he
is so wrapped up in what is going on, he isn t able to stop and notice that everyone is laughing at him.
This is clearly shown in the dinner scene. Truffaldino is so busy trying to serve both masters that he
misses the other waiters making fun of him and he misses how foolish he looks running back and forth
from Beatrice s room to Florindo s room stuffing food in his mouth in between (Goldoni 129 134).
Feste and Truffaldino both take part in trickery in their respective plays. Their motives behind doing
the tricks show the different ways that each character plays the fool. Feste participates in the scheme
against Malvolio by attempting to drive him insane by dressing up as Sir Topas and speaking
nonsense. In response to Malvolio complaining that it is dark in the room, Feste says Why, it hath bay
windows transparent as barricadoes, and the clerestories toward the south north are as lustrous as
ebony. And yet complainest thou of obstruction? (Shakespeare 4.2.34 36) Feste tells Malvolio that the
room has two small windows that are as clear to see out of as if looking out of stone and that the
windows facing south north are as clear as ebony. It makes no sense. Feste contributes to this prank
out of revenge. Malvolio had wronged him in the past: I was one, sir, in this interlude, one Sir

Bill Keller in The twitter trap published in The New york Times (18 May 2011) notes that he felt as
though he had poisoned his daughter by allowing her onto Facebook. He equates it to giving a drug
and sees it as eroding a youth s intellect or skills development memory skills, math skills, penmanship,
innate sense of direction, attention span, problem solving and decision making abilities. Given his
daily job, he is well aware of the global appreciation for the internet. However, what are the costs, the
personal costs? Recently, the advancement of technology has started to accumulate some controversy.

Still as a student 700 miles away from home Facebook is my main connection to friends from my
hometown. This is a situation that calls for moderation and self control, both of which are traits that
society will be forced to acquire and adapt to in order to survive in a fiercely competitive job market.
Using Facebook or Twitter to connect to and stay updated in your friend s life is completely
acceptable, we just need to unlatch ourselves from the computer screens and meet these people in
person as well. Keller s other arguments; the abilities to reflect, empathize, and pursue meaning, are
also still an enduring part of our lives, as long as we handle the media properly. Because of
technology, we are now given far more information than ever before to reflect upon, and the
accountability that comes with social media requires us to reflect before posting something permanent.
Facebook and Twitter are more than mindless chatter as well, when used correctly you can rally
support for a cause. The quick jump to action that users of these social media take shows their
sustained ability to empathize with others and do what they can to help. As far as pursuing meaning,
social media gives people an outlet to discuss their ideas and beliefs and further their understanding of
different people and an overall meaning. If society chooses to use these to their benefit than these
essential characteristics are not

How Has Slang Changed Over The Years
Slang terms have been a prominent part of society for many years. Slang terms have also changed
from generation to generation. This paper will discuss some common slang terms and see if there is a
significant difference between the generations. Two hypotheses were used for this research project.
The reason that there are two is explained in the paper. They original hypothesis for this paper was:
slang terms from different generations are so vastly different that it would be very hard to differentiate
the meanings. This hypothesis had to be changed because the data collected did not give the
information needed to tell if the hypothesis could be proven or not. The new hypothesis is: people
from a specific generation will use a certain slang term more often than people from a different
generation. A quote from a document about slang used in school is what inspired this project. Today s
teens aren t the first to have a language of their own. Every generation has its own set of informal
expressions, coined words and phrases, and standard vocabulary used in new ways in other words,
slang. So do other groups ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

you find attractive? , What term would you use to describe something that is interesting? , What term
would you use to describe paper with monetary value (money)? , and finally What term would you use
to describe people that are no longer in a relationship? . Each question also had a fourth option; a fill
in the blank. If the survey taker didn t see the term that they would use then they could put a word of
their choice. The survey will be at the end of this

The Role Of Faith In The Screwtape Letters By C. S. Lewis
In the novel The Screwtape Letters, C. S. Lewis depicts how Christians have strong reason and faith.
These letters are used to contradict the bible as if god is satin and satin is god. Within the letters, the
patient is supposed to be a Christian man that is being used in an experiment for the dark side.
However, the patient resisted the temptations that the devil threw at him, and is able to beat the devil
by having faith. This is a strong point that the narrator illustrates, because Screwtape is considered like
a devil who is trying to influence his incompetent nephew, Wormwood. Screwtape is very wise, very
subtle and very experienced, his nephew is a less than stellar student when it comes to swaying a
person towards a hellish direction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It allows the patient to imagine that he is not being gluttonous for example only accepting small
amounts of food, he becomes sensual. This sin is cleverly masked by the small portions of food that
are involved. In addition, when the patient says, for example, All I want is a cup of tea... and the
teeniest bit of really crispy toast, the sin of greed is horrible and most of the time unnoticeable when
committed, because it is used to obtain exactly what one wants at any means necessary (Screwtape
88). Also, being picky is a way of hassling to others as it asks them to go out of their way in order to
make something perfect. Moreover, it could jeopardize friendships because perfection can never be
attained, and the disappointment of not getting their way could result in ill tempers toward others.
Furthermore, while gluttony of delicacy may be different than the sin of gluttony, of excess, it
produces querulousness, impatience, uncharitableness, and self concern, counteracting the attempt to
avoid sin in the first place (Screwtape ch17). Screwtape shows subtlety in encouraging gluttony of

Appearance In John Steinbeck s Cannery Row
People in our society are very arbitrary and judgmental, and will stereotype others based on their first
impressions. They look at their appearances and how they carry out their actions, and make
assumptions and judgments. However, these notions are usually false; Things are not always as they
appear. People s physical features, such their looks or their race, may not accurately exhibit the person
s true personality and identity. In this manner, the deceptive nature of appearance, is explored in two
novels: Cannery Row and Always Running. The first novel, John Steinbeck s Cannery Row, takes
place in a small and derelict town inhabited by bad mannered drunks and outcasts, who are constantly
judged for their outward appearances. However, underneath their shabby reputations are ... Show more

Society has low expectations for Chicanos, including those who are educated and disciplined, and the
rest of society looks down on them. Despite all of society s put downs, certain individuals do things to
contradict and disprove society s stereotypes and prejudices. In this way, the theme of Appearance
versus Reality recurs throughout both Cannery Row and Always Running, to convey the statement
that in a judgemental society, certain individuals will eventually rise above and overcome some of
society s stereotypes and labels. A close view of the way that Mack and the boys, one of the
protagonists of Cannery Row , and Luis Rodriguez, the protagonist of Always Running, give back to
the people in their community, exemplifies the act of individuals overcoming some of society s
stereotypes and labels. In the community of Cannery Row, Mack and the boys at a glance, appear to

  • 2. Speech On Roswell Incident 1947 Speech on the Roswell incident 1947 Can you imagine the U.S government lying to the public to cover up extraterrestrial life? According to the widely held public opinion, near Roswell, New Mexico, in July 1947 the United States government recovered a crashed UFO and its extraterrestrial occupants. This was referred to as the Roswell Incident and the U.S. military had covered the issue up quickly. The original story in the eyes of non UFO buffs for this conspiracy is that on the fourth of July weekend 1947 a rancher William Brazel reported to the sheriff that he recover the remains of one of them flying saucers the military was then contacted and Major Jesse Marcel was assigned to investigate the site. On the 8th of July 1947 after Marcel and 2 Counter Intelligence Corps agents examined and collected the wreckage there was an announcement to the public that they recovered the remains of a flying disc . But the next day this was clarified in a press conference that what was recovered was only a weather balloon and nothing more. This has killed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Out of these 25 only 7 are first hand sources that claim they saw the alleged saucer remains and only 5 say they handled the material personally and 1 of them claim that the material was not from an extraterrestrial spacecraft. • 3. Conversion Of A Lawn Mower Essay Conversion of a lawn mower to generator. INTRODUCTION: The lawn mower used had a 3.5 Horse power Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke gas engine. That particular model motor has a safety shut off lever on the lawn mower handle which has a cable attached to the motor, and the attached cable must be activated to disengage the motor shut off break and to allow spark to reach the spark plug. What was decided was to cut the cable off and deactivate the motor shut off feature. If the motor has this feature, the cable will have to be observed and also the levers on the motor to figure out a way to deactivate or preserve the feature. In both cases the motor will not start unless something is done about the cable and levers. A small hole was discovered in one of the lever plates on the side of the engine, the cable was then pulled, and a small nail was then inserted into the lever to keep the mechanism from retracting and shutting off the motor. As stated earlier, it will take a bit of time to figure out how the motor shut off mechanism works (if there is one installed on the motor). PROCEDURE: The first step is to remove the motor from the lawn mower base. Typically, there are 3 or 4 bolts holding the motor to the base, but before they can be removed, the mower blade and the shaft coupler that holds the blade on the motor shaft will need to be removed. Getting the blade and the coupling off is slightly difficult, but removing the blade is not nearly as difficult, however still requires a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Lowering The Voting Age Essay Teenagers are the future of the world and should be given the right to make decisions that will impact their futures too. Lowering the voting age will be a great benefit to the United States and 16 year olds have a better understanding about the system than 18 year olds due to the education they are receiving making them a little more mature to make the right decision to vote. The benefits of reducing the age to 16 are the advantages teens get of learning how the voting system functions at an early age. Lowering the voting age is a very argumental subject but teens will become more interested in voting since it will be a big deal if they are allowed to vote. It is crucial for a teenager at 16 years old to be able to vote and give their opinions on politics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of them go for a driver s permit test and are eligible in the next six months to pass the driving license exam and most of them pass. If they are old enough to be eligible to drive a vehicle they are old enough to give an opinion on politics and vote. If they are mature enough to drive a car, then voting shouldn t be much of a challenge (Hernandez A. 1). Teens are able to take responsibility, like voting, more serious if it will have an impact in their life. Teens are more smarter than what they get credit for. 16 year olds can register in the military which comes with the idea of young people and their vulnerability to die while out in combat. Aged 16, a teenager can get married or enter a civil partnership and consent to a sexual relationships, pay income tax and national insurance, become a company director, join the army or a trade union and give their full consent to life or death medical procedures. The Wallaby is much smaller than the kangaroo. Their heights are about 30 to 180 and they weight about 20kg. They can run up to 48kms per hour and live from 12 to 15 years. (Anonymous, no date) The Wallaby belongs in Kingdom Animalia. (N, P, et al, 2015) Kingdom Animalia s animals are eukaryotic. This means the cells have membrane around the nucleus. The Wallaby is also heterotrophic, so must eat something. The Wallaby is a herbivore, so it eats plants or fruits. (No author, no date) The Wallaby is mobile, so it can move freely. The Wallaby has many cells because it is multicellular and the cells have to live together unlike colonial organisms. • 7. Symbolism In The Bluest Eye orrison used is satire. Morrison satirizes the internalized racism and what it can do to the most vulnerable member of a community, a young girl. At the same time, she does not want to dehumanize the people who wound this girl, because that would simple repeat their mistakes. Morrison decided to write a novel about how internalized racism affects young black girls in a range of ways, some petty and minute, some tragic and overwhelming. Many critics explore how Morrison challenges prevailing stereotypes of African American women, especially in the women centered novels, like The Bluest Eye (Raynor and Butler 175). One of the key trade marks of Morrison work is her frequent use of significant references to history. Electronic Voting Is Not Fair Electronics always fail, no matter what, I think that the Untited States should stop using electronic voting because its not really fair and in some ways you get cheated out. In 2013, a national magazine ran an articile about a man who explained how, with basic computer knowledge and tools, was able to tamper with votes on EVMs. Life is about being fair and I think everyone should be treated equal, the time tested method of paper ballots does just that and is the best way to go in my opinion becuase it works accurately and cannot be tampered with in any way. • 9. How Did Augustus Caesar Use Propaganda Introduction Art and architecture consist the expression of society s ethos and moral character; they function as its mirrors. Especially during times of crisis, change or instability, they reflect the state of its values. When we look back in Rome in 27 BCE, the time when Augustus Caesar founded the Roman Principate and became its first emperor, art served as one of his media to first claim, then establish and finally stabilize his domination. As Paul Zanker comments rarely has art been pressed into the service of political power so directly as in the Age of Augustus . Augustus was a political genius who accomplished to establish peace (Pax Romana which is sometimes called Pax Augusta to honour his name) and stabilize his position as the Roman emperor between his rivals with great ingenuity. Charlesworth The use of propaganda throughout time, especially when it comes to politics, is a common and widely adopted means of predominance and influence of the masses. However, looking back into history, few people of power and politicians used propaganda as successfully and effectively as the first emperor of Rome, Augustus Caesar. As briefly mentioned above, over time Augustus dramatically altered the balance of power in the Roman governance system without seeming to do so; indeed, in Res Gestae 34.3 he explicitly claimed, I exceeded all in influence, but I had no greater power than the others who were colleagues with me in each magistracy . To understand Augustus means of influence to his audience and his agenda is to understand the man himself as well as his ambitions for the Roman Empire. In an attempt to categorize his work, it can be claimed that Augustus had two main themes in the use of propaganda. The first theme was correlated to his concern to establish himself, his right to rule and his influence, while the second one was his ambition to create and maintain peace and ... As a young adult, she is forced into a marriage with a white man from England, an event that ultimately leads Antoinette to her downfall. At the start of the novel, Antoinette and the characters around her are optimistic about their identity and future. This is not adequate information, because the people who returned the surveys are mostly likely on opposite spectrums. The parents either really like the DARE program or hate it. Electoral College Voting System It s interesting to notice that in those four disputed elections of 1800, 1824, 1876 and 1960, the winner of the popular vote didn t become President because they weren t the winners of the Electoral College votes. The first two instances were mainly due to an unorganized system because of the early establishment. However, there is a recurring pattern in the later elections. In 1800, the problem was that the electors had two votes, one for President and one for the Vice President, which, based on the outcome, resulted in the adoption of the 12th Amendment which ensured that a tied vote for President wouldn t happen again. In the 1824 election resulted in the creation of two political parties which were the Democratic and the Whig parties. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The roots give the tree life. William Shakespeare utilizes numerous influences to make his plays unique. He employs many Elizabethan Era themes, characterization techniques, and culture in his writing. All of these impacted his life in the late 1500s and provided both underlying main points and details for his plays. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The audience already has an idea of the history behind the plays, and this affects how people view the characters and what judgements they have before they even watch the plays with conflicts such as male v. female, old v. young, and many others. Shakespeare has an even amount of his strongest/main characters being both male and female, but this does not mean he does not use gender roles to make the stories more believable. In King Lear, Shakespeare, through Lear, is supporting these roles by saying: suspend thy purpose if thou didst intend/to make this creature fruitful (King Lear 1.4.289 290), and is indicating that the woman s only job is to give birth, and so the worst curse for them would be to get rid of the one thing they are actually meant to do. But, Shakespeare has many examples of breaking the gender norms, and Antony and Cleopatra is arguably Shakespeare s most gender redefining play (Moss, Antony and Cleopatra 296). In one of the opening scenes, Caesar states, the lamps of night in revel, is not more manlike/Than Cleopatra, nor the queen of Ptolemy/ More womanly than he (Antony and Cleopatra 1.4.5 7), which shows that women are supposed to be womanly, but Egypt s ideals are backwards. While in Egypt it is fine, in Rome, Antony would be mocked. Antony and Cleopatra also spends time defining two types of women, if beauty, flashiness, and riggishness do not settle, /Wisdom and modesty can harbour /The heart of Antony, Octavia is/A blessĆØd lottery to him (Antony and Cleopatra 2.2.265 266, 274 276). Both women are represented here, Cleopatra as beautiful and ambitious, while Octavia is more obedient, wise and modest, but Shakespeare or his characters never state which is better, but rather they are both equal in different senses. The generation problem is also evident in Shakespeare s plays, especially in King Lear. Lear is old, and his first daughter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Basic knowledge: 1.1 The price equation and its six contributing factors As we know, there are six factors that determine the expected price of bonds: the par value(F), the maturity(n) the yield to maturity(y), the coupon interest(CF), the interest payment frequency(m), and the interest rates for each period(ri). We assume that the coupon interest is fixed, then the price of bonds(P)is the discounted cash flows of each period: P=i=1nm(CF(1+ym)i)+F(1+ym)mn=i=1nm(CF(1+rim)i)+F(1+rnm)mn Indeed, to intuitively understand this equation is not easy. God has four different attributes, he is omniscient, simple, eternal and omnipotent. The latter raises some difficulties, and paradoxes. In a first part I will show how omnipotence can be defined differently, how radical omnipotence differs with limited omnipotence and the issue with logic. Then I will show how God s omnipotence raises some paradoxes and contradictions, by relying on the paradox of the stone and the problem of evil. Finally I will try to answer some questions concerning God s ability to sin, to bring about the past, and to do things not done by him. Does God s powers have a limit, could it then be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Mackie, 1955)The claim that evil is necessary as a counterpart to good (Mackie, 1955, p.203) errs, indeed we can again assert that as God made the laws of logic it would be possible for only good to exist in the world. Nevertheless the existence of evil in the world is required to prove what good really is. Without evil, everything, every actions are considered good. But if good is everywhere, it becomes difficult to measure it, and we cannot compare it with other actions. To be good is to possess and display moral virtue, but how can we do that if evil does not exist ? Good has to be opposed to evil, for it to exist. It then does not distract it with God s omnipotence. Mackie (1955) reckons that first order evil such as pain and misery contrasts with first order good pleasure and happiness . Moreover a second order good such as sympathy can only exist if there is a second order evil suffering , similarly with heroism in facing danger (Mackie, 1955, p.206). But according to Mackie this claim fails, in fact the second order evil that is cowardice or cruelty (Mackie, 1955, p.207) is rising as much as another second order good. And if God were omnipotent and morally good he would try and eliminate those evils. Regarding evil and omnipotence many philosophers have taken the position that human have freewill and are independent of God. And that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bugsy Siegel and his Visions on Las Vegas The notorious Benjamin Bugsy Siegel envisioned Las Vegas to be a great gambling city, and left the Flamingo behind as a symbol of his contribution to the extravagant lifestyle; however, it is unknown to most that building the Flamingo impacted his personal life as much as it made an impression on other s lives for many years to come. Siegel faced a great many challenges during the construction on the Flamingo hotel. His life became engulfed by the project, affected his business and personal life, and even created a name for him that would continue down in history. Benjamin Bugsy Siegel was born into a poor Jewish family in 1906 in Brooklyn and raised there for the remainder of his childhood. At a young age, Siegel had already developed a troublesome personality and became involved in gangs that were from the lower east side of Manhattan. Being a part of the local gangs, Bugsy had committed numerous crimes, the main ones being theft. Often he would steal money from merchants or just threaten them until they paid him a certain amount. It was not until his teenage years that he met Meyer Lansky, a now infamous mobster, and became part of the mafia. Lansky and Siegel became close friends during their youth, which also happened to be the same time that Meyer Lansky was putting together a small time mob. The ocean serves as a Carbon Sink , absorbing a large amount of Carbon but when the ocean absorbs too much Carbon dioxide, it warms and a process known as ocean acidification occurs. The Carbon dioxide mixes with the water and carbonate in the ocean creating bicarbonate ions (Talk), and when the ocean gets too acidic, the corals die off, giving off a bleached look thus rending the ecosystem uninhabitable. Hence the term Coral bleaching, this is huge because coral reefs contain about 25% of the world s marine biodiversity. From a human perspective, the biodiversity loss risk human security. The bicameral system was created by the Founding Fathers in order to carry out one of the most imperative functions of Congress, representation amongst other function such as legislation, deliberation and scrutiny. The Senate ensures each state is equally represented with two congressmen, equally the House of Representatives also has to carry out the function of representation but its representatives unlike the Senate are proportioned to the population of the states for example California has 55 representatives however Alaska has 1. Even though representation is an important and well known function of the legislature the extent to which it is carried out can be argued to have declined in the subsequent years due to factors such as the expansion of the population. The role of representation was intended to be carried out in 13 states under the Founding Fathers however the increase to 50 has made this function increasingly difficult. The creation of the House of Representatives ensured the function of representation would be carried out as the house was proportioned to equally represent all the states. Having a set number of representatives in one states according to population ensures that the voices of that state s population can be heard effectively. The Framers choice of a bicameral system was in part a choice to leverage two different representational schemes. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason that there are two is explained in the paper.
