The True Cause Of Violent Behaviors
The True Cause of Violent Behaviors in Today s Society
There are volumes of media that are starting to harm the world in which we live. They have been
linked to fourteen mass murders (Fletcher). Nine out of the top ten selling games have been labeled as
violent and 42% of adolescents play them ( Children and Video Games ). These violent video games
are a major problem in the United States and across the globe. Violent video games have a direct
correlation with negative behaviors because they increase anger and aggression in young people,
decrease prosocial behavior, and have unfavorable effects on a teens daily life.

If people are viewing the world as a hostile and violent place then they are not able to grow and
develop relationships with others in their lives. They are gaining beliefs that their life outside of
violent video games wants them to fail, and that society is unable to understand their way of life.
Violent video games are destroying the possibility of relationships between people. 90% of video
games portray violence. Our brain sometimes doesn t distinguish between what is real and what we
see on TV (Barclay). This is a scary realization because it shows that what we watch and play on TV
can have a very harmful effect on our lives. Our brain is sometimes unable to recognize what is real
and what is not, which in turn will not be able to help determine when a violent situation is occurring
and when one is not.
Violent video games do not promote prosocial behavior between humans. Violent video games have
contributed to fatal actions. Mika Brzezinski said, It s kind of hard not to make a connection [between
games and the Navy Yard Shooting] when you hear [the shooter s] friend saying that he would watch
on a life size screen these violent video games for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours
(Kain). Violent video games are being linked to many of the mass shootings around the United States,
specifically the Washington Navy Yard shooting. Instead of helping each other some violent video
game players are turning to guns and weapons, which is

The Politics Of Buddhist Revival
An article was written by Laurence Cox that explores several aspects of U Dhammaloka s Buddhism,
and who he was as a Buddhist (Cox, 2010). Laurence Cox explores U Dhammaloka s involvement in
the Buddhist Tract Society (BTS), as a social movement organizer, and his participation in politics.
(Cox, 2010).
Summary
Cox, (2010), in his article The Politics of Buddhist Revival: U Dhammaloka s as Social Movement
Organiser, explains who U Dhammalok s was as a Buddhist (Cox, 2010). U Dhammaloka was born
Irish turned Buddhist Monk, he was Fiery Tempered, Quick Witted, and Charming as well as Sociable
(Cox, 2010, p. 174)). Dhammaloka was involved in union organizing, socialism, spiritualism,
anarchism, atheism, and an Irish nationalism (Cox, 2010, p. 176). Also, Dhammaloka was known as a
great orator and a man that was known for public confrontation also (Cox, 2010, p. 188). In addition
to being the first European monk, he was first to be recognized as a European to conduct a Buddhist
ordination (Cox, 2010, p. 174). However, Dhammaloka s involvement in the Buddhist Tract Society,
the BTS represented a considerable portion of organizing that U Dhammaloka used to spread his
message (Cox, 2010, p. 177). According to the article, Dhammaloka was extremely active as a
newspaper communicator and relied on the newspaper to distribute his teaching on Buddhism (Cox,
2010, p. 179). He felt that the paper was a method that he could use to receive publicity and defend

Omnipotence Of God
God is the almighty, the all powerful, and the creator. The concept of God has intrigued humans since
the dawn of time. As a result, the ability to understand Him is necessary. The question, What is God?,
has baffled intellectuals throughout history. According to the Oxford Dictionary, God is the creator
and ruler of the universe and source of moral authority. However, this definition loosely describes the
fundamentals of God himself. In order to accurately define Him, one must go beyond sources like the
Bible because it contains refutable miracles to outline the acts of God. To truly define God, one must
identify the traits that make God unparalleled. God must be an omniscient and omnipotent, an
omnibenevolent, and an omnitemporal being. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By being all knowing, or omniscient, He is able to observe all parts of the universe. This ability is the
reason why people believe He is cognizant of whether they have sinned or shown virtue. In order to be
all knowing, God must also be all powerful, or omnipotent. Omnipotence allows God to create the
universe and control everything within it. Without omniscience and omnipotence, God would be
demoted to just a higher order being instead of the perfect being, which would defy the basis for
monotheistic beliefs. Likely the most challenging trait for people to understand is God s
omnibenevolence: the ability to be completely good. Omnibenevolence suggests His capacity to end
all suffering. However, He intentionally allows the path of life to veer away from perfection. This fact
stems from the gift of free will. Without free will, life would lose its meaning and thus would be
fundamentally imperfect. God s omnibenevolence is to provide a life with meaning. His creation of an
imperfect existence is the epitome of perfection, for what is life but

Planet Neptune
Neptune is the eighth and farthest planet from the Sun in the Solar System. It is the fourth largest
planet by diameter and the third largest by mass. Neptune is 17 times the mass of Earth and is
somewhat more massive than its near twin Uranus, which is 15 times the mass of Earth but not as
dense.[12] On average, Neptune orbits the Sun at a distance of 30.1 AU, approximately 30 times the
Earth Sun distance. Named for the Roman god of the sea, its astronomical symbol is ♆, a stylised
version of the god Neptune s trident.
Neptune was the first planet found by mathematical prediction rather than by empirical observation.
Unexpected changes in the orbit of Uranus ledAlexis Bouvard to deduce that its orbit was subject to

Via James Challis, he requested extra data from Sir George Airy, the Astronomer Royal, who supplied
it in February 1844. Adams continued to work in 1845 46 and produced several different estimates of
a new planet.[25][26]
In 1845 46, Urbain Le Verrier, independently of Adams, developed his own calculations but also
experienced difficulties in stimulating any enthusiasm in his compatriots. In June 1846, upon seeing
Le Verrier s first published estimate of the planet s longitude and its similarity to Adams s estimate,
Airy persuaded Cambridge Observatorydirector James Challis to search for the planet. Challis vainly
scoured the sky throughout August and September.[24][27]
Meantime, Le Verrier by letter urged Berlin Observatory astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle to search

they could compare a recently drawn chart of the sky in the region of Le Verrier s

Compare And Contrast H. H Holmes And Jack The Ripper
According to Exodus 20:13 you shall not murder, however the world consists of countless people who
disobey this command. Murderers are especially horrific if they are serial killers because it is awful
enough to kill one person, but to murder repeatedly is sickening. It is extremely depressing to know
that some murderers never get caught. One of the most infamous serial killers whose identity was
never uncovered is Jack the ripper. Numerous people have different theories relating to who Jack the
ripper was, but none have been proven. One main theory is that America s first serial killer, H. H.
Holmes was London s Jack the ripper. To find evidence to prove the theory of whether or not H. H.
Holmes was Jack the ripper; crucial evidence to look at are the similarities between the killers. To
clarify, Henry Howard Holmes known as H. H. Holmes was America s first serial killer. As a child,
Holmes was terrified of the doctor, however a few bullies from his school forced him to touch the real
skeleton in their doctor s office which started his obsession with human anatomy. When Holmes was a
teenager he interned at his local doctor s office and later went to Michigan State for a medical degree
and became a skilled doctor. Holmes took out fake insurance policies on the bodies he used in medical
school after pouring acid on their face so they were unrecognizable in order to afford college. In 1889
Holmes designed and built a hotel to assist his murders.

The National Infrastructure Protection Plan Essay
Introduction The private sector plays a vital role in carrying out the objectives within all 16 sector
specific plans. The Emergency Services Sector includes but is not limited to first responding services
such as; public work, fire, medical or police services. The goals and objectives of ESS specific plans
are to provide first responder services as one of their main missions is the prevention to life. This
sector is extremely important as they are the first responders to any type of incident that may even be
impacted to other sectors. The National Infrastructure Protection Plan for this sector describes the
tasks, duties and responsibilities that the private sector has in order to effectively and successfully
operate this types of critical infrastructures. Just like any other sector, this sector requires the private
sector to have a good relationship with state, local, tribal, territorial governments, Federal Government
and outside organizations as well. Threats, risks, and vulnerabilities are acknowledged and analyzed in
every respective infrastructure as they are all different. All factors are then prioritized in order to
prevent the best security and mitigate the possible consequences. Public and private sectors must have
the ability to continue their businesses and operations after an event has occurred. When an incident of
event occur, operating plans must be created and established in order to prevent stoppages or
deterrence to the operations. This helps reduce the

The Significance of the Title of To Kill a Mockingbird by...
The Significance of the Title of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee The title of this novel is To Kill
a Mockingbird and throughout the book the word mockingbird appears several times. The
mockingbird is the most significant symbol in the novel. The motif of the story is the innocent
creature of the mockingbird. What is a mockingbird? A mockingbird is a type of finch. It is a small
plain bird and has a beautiful song. It got its name because its beautiful sing mocks other birds. The
mockingbird idea first comes about in chapter 10,when Atticus is telling the children how to use their
shotguns. He tells them: Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit em. But remember it s a sin ...

They haven t done anything wrong and are scared that they may get hurt or something bad may
happen when the dog appears. Another time the mockingbird idea comes up is in chapter 21,when
everyone is in the court room waiting for the verdict on whether Tom Robinson has been found guilty
or not. Scout describes the atmosphere in the courtroom like this: The feeling grew until the
atmosphere in the court room was exactly the same as a cold February morning, when the
mockingbirds were still and the carpenters had stopped hammering on miss Maudie s new house. I
think that when Scout talks about the atmosphere being like a cold February morning she is describing
the tension in the room. When everyone is still and silent. When Scout says that the mockingbirds
were still I think that she was referring to Atticus and Tom Robinson. I think this because Tom is
waiting to see if he has been found guilty or not and Atticus is waiting to see if he has won his case.
They are both deadly still and anxious to hear the verdict. They have been regarded as mockingbirds
because both Atticus and Tom are innocent characters that have done nothing wrong. Also another
place in which the idea of mockingbirds appears is in chapter 25,when Mr Underwood is talking about
Tom Robinson s escape and death. He seems very opposed to Tom being shot, as he was a cripple. In
the newspaper article he wrote he said

Two Fisted Fight Poster Analysis
Poster Analysis Two Fisted Fight
As Americans, we learn about the past wars and the outcomes. As young Americans, we never
received the chance to actually know what it was like to live in that era. Learning about the past times
helps us understand what we did not go through ourselves. In order to receive the best chance at
learning about the times, one should look at actual representations of what life was like. For example,
if a person was interested in learning about World War II, that person should find it in his or her best
interest to look at World War II posters. The posters would provide the person interested with an item
built in that time period, for that time period, by the people in that time period. Considering that time

They did not have power drills and tools that we have today. For example, a wrench is displayed in the
hand. In modern times, one is likely to see a drill or something of that sort on an advertisement.
Likewise, the other hand grasps a gun. This gun is likely an old, bolt action rifle. The bolt action rifles
are slow at loading and a waste of time compared to the advanced guns available. We have plenty of
guns that can amount to twice the damage and more rounds per magazine. If a similar principle were
placed on a poster of modern time, the hands would likely grip a highly advanced gun and a power
drill. This is because of the different inventions and upgrades of machines between the two time
periods, which is all available due to the facts within the poster. The WWII poster begged the attention
of the local town. The poster is and was in fact a poster, so it was posted in a local town for the locals

Tragedy And The Common Man
According to Aristotle s theory of tragedy, tragedies are best equipped to be based on a protagonist
that is renowned and prosperous, so his good fortune can be dramatically changed. In contrast, Arthur
Miller s essay Tragedy and the Common Man states that the common man is as apt a subject for
tragedy in its highest sense as kings ever were. He proves in his modern essay that the characteristics
and emotions of the common man and the highly placed are entitled to be similar. Miller even
identifies emotions of a average person and how they result in a better tragedy than those who are
highly ranked. In his play Death of Salesman he demonstrates that the normal life of a sales man can
still make for a great tragedy and that his protagonist, Willy Loman, is worthy of a tragedy. One of the
central themes related to his essay and play is that the presence of fear in a common man s life is more
prevalent and perhaps draws us closer the character. Willy Loman s fear of not meeting the standards
to the successful people around him, such as his brother and neighbor, and the failure in his job as a
father that correlates with his children s failures is the storyline Miller presents in his play that weights

Theseus In The Odyssey
Of all the Greek heroes, the greatest of all was the mighty and powerful Theseus. Theseus rose above
and beyond any other hero by using his intellect and not just superior strength. He refused to take the
easy path and instead took the path he felt was right. The myth of Theseus proves that intellect,
courage, and compassion can be superior to strength and brute force.
Theseus, unlike many of the Greek heroes, was not only the son of a god, but a mortal man as well.
Some versions of the myth claim that his dual paternity was caused by his mother having relations
with both Poseidon, god of the sea, and Aegeus, the king of Athens, in the same night. Other version
claim he was the son of either one or the other. Before Theseus was born, King Aegeus left a pair of

Theseus must take her back with him to Athens and make her his wife. He agreed and bravely went
forth to challenge the Minotaur using only his mind and raw strength. Theseus successfully defeated
the Minotaur and ended the tribute for good. He, Ariadne, and the rest of the tributes returned to the
ship on which they came to journey back to Athens. Ariadne never made it to Athens. In some
versions of the myth Theseus deserts her while in others she dies of sea sickness. For whatever reason,
she did not continue the journey and Theseus forgot to hoist up the white sail when entering Athens.

Challenges Faced By The World Today
CONCLUSION
Security is one of the major challenges that is being faced by the world today, as seen by continuous
revelations about breaches and incidents. On this note of insecurity and unpredictability, banking
industry is keen to redefine its approach to security thereby making an attempt to balance three critical
factors i.e. cost, innovation and risk. On parallel grounds, the domain of internal security is
undergoing drastic changes that mandates banking institutions to embrace new set of skills and
practices. Fraud can be categorized as a business risk it is like a sword of Damocles over a bank s
future. This must change for the good. The rapid pace with which the technology is changing, like the
recent explosion of cellular customers, is often entailed by necessary evils. An unstoppable tsunami is
engulfing banks with their employees and clients carrying their private electronic gadgets to work.
Similarly, applicants for BYOD has surged and simultaneously it accelerates the rate of security
threats, both ethically and technologically. Online banking proves to be the antithesis of all the
innovations of security professionals due to their identifiable features such as their mobility, richness
in data and susceptibility to theft.
Threat modelling and vulnerability assessment offers new insights that facilitates a more pro active
approach to security, provided organizations pay equal focus to the ever growing market of potential
threats. It should be acknowledged that

Scientific Method and Sir Karl Popper
Sir Karl Popper, challenging the status quo, inspiring generations to ponder on the meaning of science,
the methods to find truth, is one of the most influential philosophers of the 20th century. Of particular
importance to scientific methods of inquiry is the brawl between the development of theory and the
criteria for science. In Popper s own words, it is in this brawl that Popper decided to grapple with the
problem: When should a theory be ranked as scientific? or Is there a criterion for the scientific
character or status of a theory? (Popper 1957), p. 1).
Born just after the turn of the century in 1902 (my Great Aunt was 4 at the time), in London, England,
Popper began grappling with the brawl between when is theory scientific ... Show more content on

The use of empirical methods and inductive explanations is the root cause for Popper s revolt upon the
metaphysical reasoning used to explain social behavior (at this time). It is not that astrology is a
pseudo science; astrology is merely a residue of the subject of the investigation (Popper 1952).
Disciplines are means of administratively distinguishing the unified systems from which problems
may be taught. It is far more important to understanding falsification that We are not students of a
subject matter but students of problems (Popper 1952)p. 125).
Traditionally, scientists formed hypotheses to explain or rationalize some natural phoneme that they
have observed. Popper intends that a hypothesis must predict a phenomenon or behavior and not just
offer to explain it. I believe that there is not a classic of science, or of mathematics, or indeed a book
worth reading that could not be shown, by a skillful application of the technique of language analysis,
to be full of meaningless pseudo propositions (Popper 1952), p. 130). Popper is positive that each
hypothesis has a possible contradiction. This sensitiveness to problems to the extent of having a
consuming passion for them fortifies Popper s revolt against merely accepting plausible and
rationalized results of observations.
For falsification to take place, the scientist must identify situations that falsify or negate the
hypothesis. Finally,

Donner Party Tragedy Essay
Donner Party Tragedy
On a journey to a better life in California, the infamous Donner party, met sorrow at every turn. Before
their journey began, they encountered a shortcut discovered by Hastings. Like any other normal
person, they decided to take the easier route that unfortunately led to tragedy. There were many key
elements leading to the misfortune of this group.
From the beginning of their journey, the Donner party made mistakes. First of all, at the time of the
party s departure there was an outbreak of cholera and malaria. Germs and disease are not good to
carry along a journey half way across the country. Even the slightest germs were deadly to them. After
they passed Independence, Missouri, they were in unfamiliar land. ... Show more content on

Then they ran into a man by the last name of Kleiman. He warned the group that the road ahead was
very tough and that Hastings had trouble on the route himself. Kleiman told Mr. Donner NOT to take
Hastings route, but the Donner party continued despite their warning. Mr. Hastings promised the party
that he would wait for them at a fort along the way to California. When the party reached the fort,
Hastings had already gone ahead a week earlier with another group. He left simple instructions for the
Donner party to follow telling them it would not take long to get to Salt Lake. Then they turned off
track into the wilderness. It took 6 days to chop through to Big Mountain and one month to reach Salt
Lake rather than the week they had been promised. After 3 days they ran out of water and Reed s oxen
ran away and could not be found. Thirty six oxen were lost and wagons had to be left behind in order
to get over the mountain. Then Reed killed Schneider because he was whipping the oxen. Everyone
was going mad. Indians killed 21 more oxen and then the Donner axle broke on the first wagon. To
make things worse, they encountered blizzard like snow and sleet. If they had rested 4 days instead of
5 they would have made it through to California safely without having to deal with any of the
conditions mentioned above. It turns out that Hastings shortcut was actually

Personal Discourse Definition
I do not agree with Discourses because to me, it means you have to do what society tells you to do and
you are unable to think for yourself. I believe I have had a lot of personal experience with this. Even
now, as an adult, I still have trouble forming my own opinion without others input because I have been
growing up in a generation that revolves around the internet and we are heavily influenced by social
media. For instance, if many people like Taylor Swift, then so do I. However, when she does one
problematic thing and people judge her for it, then I do too. I feel as if I have to believe what everyone
else believes, I am unable to think for myself at times. On the other hand, when I try to detach myself

Gee states, A Discourse is a sort of identity kit which comes complete with the appropriate costume
and instructions on how to act, talk, and often write, so as to take on a particular social role that others
will recognize. This further proves that individuals are always worried about impressing others and in
order to do that they have to alter their personality plus their exterior so that they fit a certain standard
that makes them more respectable in a way. Speaking of respect, Gee mentions, Other examples of
Discourses include: (enacting) being an American or a Russian, a man or a woman, a member of a
certain socioeconomic class, a factory worker or a boardroom executive, a doctor or a hospital patient,
a teacher, an administrator, or a student... Basically, Gee is advancing toward the concept that being
different is a Discourse because when the two are compared, there is always one person that has a
connotation of being in a higher position of power. This is true in society, the chain of command,
imperialism, and patriarchy. However, I do not think it is too late to change this way of thinking, it can
be accomplished by society having a different outlook on life, a shift in perspective, and educating
children as well as others on topics that we do not hear much about. I hope that in the years to

Irac of Negligence
Introduction: In Rebecca Zorba s Restaurant case, the main issue is whether negligence exists of the
defendant? There are three prerequisites must be present before the tort of negligence can arise: a duty
of care must be owed by one person to another; there must be a breach of that duty of care; and
damage must have been suffered as a result of the breach of duty. (FoBL, 2005, p70) In addition,
another element must be satisfied to prove negligence is the causation. This essay will analysis

IRAC Process No. 4 Is there any defenses can be rise? There are two defences to an action in
negligence: contributory negligence and voluntary assumption of risk. (FoBL, 2005, p83) This case
only involves contributory negligence. According to section 26 of the Wrongs Act 1958 (Vic.), the
result of a successful plea of contributory negligence will be an apportionment of damages. So, if a
defendant is a negligent without any contributory negligence by the plaintiff, the plaintiff will receive
100 per cent of the damage, but if the plaintiff is held to be contributory negligent to the extent of 40
per cent, then the plaintiff will only receive 60 per cent of the damage. (FoBL, 2005, p84) For
instance, the case of Liftronic Pty Ltd v. Unver[10], the defendant (Liftronic Pty Ltd) was found liable
in negligence but Unver s damages were reduced by 60 per cent due to his contributory negligence. In
this case, Rebecca had seen the waiter wiping the floor, and assumed that all of the moisture had been
cleared away. Then she did not ask the waiter about the damp floor, continue to dance vigorously.
Therefore, the defendant could apportion part of damages by contributory negligence. Conclusion: To
sum up, based on the law of negligence, the issues and precedents, Rebecca could win this case by
legal process. Because the defendant Zorba s Restaurant owns a duty of care to Rebecca, the
restaurant has breached that duty of care;

The demographic, economic and the socio cultural segments would be the most relevant segments to

survivability of Whole Foods Market, and the organic food industry. The relevance of the
demographic segment stems from the fact that the age structure, income distribution and population
size are important factors which will influence the demand for organic products. The economic
segment is relevant, as an affluent population will continue to drive and sustain demand for organic

Other than an increase in consumption of fresh fruits, vegetables and grain based products, vitamins
and nutritional supplements have also seen an increase demand due to changes in societal trends.
Americans are now more willing to splurge on healthy, organic foods. In fact, organic foods are
deemed beneficial and it has since been accepted as a mainstream choice of diet. Changing
preferences due to a higher proportion of women in the workforce also mean that consumers today
prefer a one stop shopping experience that is being offered by Whole Foods.
The organic food industry has seen a huge spike in growth that is expected to continue into the future
due to an increase in consumption. This will provide Whole Foods Market with huge opportunities. In
addition, a wave of ethical and responsible consumption has swept across America. Whole Foods
decision to pursue sustainable activities will certainly give consumers an added incentive to purchase
its organic products.
Stiff competition within the industry would be one of the key threats that Whole Foods will face.
Strong competitors, coupled with grocery stores that have incorporated natural food sections into the
stores, have made it more challenging for Whole Foods to maintain its pole position in the market. As
the market for organic foods expands rapidly, mainstream supermarkets are also competing for a slice
of the pie. Strict government regulations and the lack of prime locations have made it more

Well to me it depends on the mind set of an individual, his/her innate abilities and capabilities. I
myself broadly classify entrepreneurs into two types, The Inventors (those who with their discrete and

1.2 Privacy And Confidentiality Research Paper
Principle 1.2: Privacy and Confidentiality
Respect for the student decision to deny disclosure of private information. Any information provided
by the students or parents should not be shared outside of the school setting unless mandated by law as
well as being careful to not seek information from the parent or student that is not pertinent to the
school setting.
Students and parents should be informed of the confidentiality and legal situations that would involve
informing third party sources while services are in place as well as reminding the parents/student as
needed of these guidelines. A student, parent, or school employee s sexual orientation, gender identity,
or transgender status will not be shared unless permission has been given by said individual. Health
laws should be reviewed before disclosing health issues with any individual in regards to student,
parent, or school employee and only shared if there is believed to be a risk to the public.

Conclusion
The purpose of special education programs and identification is to provide equal access to education
for children aby providing services that can assist with obtaining educational success. It is important
to remember that not every child who appears to initially be struggling will continue to struggle or
qualify for additional assistance or special education services. As well, a student who did not
previously struggle or show signs of needing services may present as such at a different moment in

The Problem of Global Warming Essay
Global Warming is the increase of temperature on Earth which is caused by human activities and will
have very serious consequences for life on Earth if humans don t start to do something about it now.
Global Warming is caused when the
Greenhouse Gases combines with the atmosphere and traps heat. It is strongly related to pre human
and pre industrial global warming, it is also weakly related to depletion of ozone layer, which was
caused by the CFC (Chlorofluorocarbons) gas. The effects of global warming on the environment are
dangerous, such as: rising of sea level because polar caps melt, changes in the pattern of precipitation,
floods, droughts, heat waves, hurricanes and tornadoes. These effects would take away life and ...

For instance, Nitrous oxide is the major greenhouse gas and has
296 times the effect of carbon dioxide (www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitrous_oxide, Feb,
2007).
Human activities are the biggest contributor to global warming. Industrialization, transportation and
forest burning releases gases that join the atmosphere and trap heat.
Industrialization has been proved to release high amounts of carbon dioxide since the
Industrial Revolution began in the early 19th century. The total amount of carbon dioxide has
increased by one ? third of the usual amount in the atmosphere.
Transportation uses fossil fuels to run and as a result, it produces gases such as carbon monoxide and
carbon dioxide. Now, in the modern lifestyle, most of the people want and have private cars. This
further increases the amount carbon dioxide released to the air by the means of transportation. The
biggest cause of global warming is forest burning. This is because when we are burning forests, trees
inside it, which usually absorb carbon dioxide, release lots amount of carbon dioxide. Besides this, the
earth has also experienced natural global warming and ice ages several times before, which rises by up
to 5 degree Celsius. A climatologist said that humans have contributed to
Global Warming since 8,000 years ago, the year the amount of carbon dioxide started to increase.
There are lots of negative effects on environment and

Accordingly, the top 10 brewers worldwide now account for more than half (50.4 percent) of the
entire world s beer production, marking an industry first. As a result of Interbrew s recent acquisition
of AmBev, Coors is now positioned as the eighth largest brewery with a global market share of
approximately 2.6 percent (A B is the largest at 9.0 percent). As a result of heavy investment in
developing markets, China is now the largest beer producer and consumer in the world. China and the
U.S. (the second largest producer) now constitute one third of the world s total beer production. Of the
available growth in the United States, most is attributed to a rising taste for super premium products
and products that adhere to lifestyle considerations (e.g., low carbohydrate beers). The mini baby
boomers, or the 21 to 25 year old age segment, are anticipated to increase by 11 percent over the next
10 years. Thus, in attempts to gain market share, manufacturers are focusing product preference and
advertising within this age demographic. On a global basis, considerable market growth is being
experienced within the developing markets as a result of increased buying power and consumer
demand. The beer industry continuum has shifted from perfect competition to oligopolistic supply.

States of Matter
States of matter are the distinct forms that different phases of matter take on. Historically, the
distinction is made based on qualitative differences in bulk properties. Solid is the state in which
matter maintains a fixed volume and shape; liquid is the state in which matter maintains a fixed
volume but adapts to the shape of its container; and gas is the state in which matter expands to occupy
whatever volume is available.
This diagram shows the nomenclature for the different phase transitions.
More recently, distinctions between states have been based on differences in molecular
interrelationships. Solid is the state in which intermolecular attractions keep the molecules in fixed
spatial relationships. Liquid is the state in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Solids can also change directly into gases through the process of sublimation.
[edit]Liquid
Main article: Liquid
Structure of a classical monatomic liquid. Atoms have many nearest neighbors in contact, yet no long
range order is present.
‎
The volume is definite if the temperature and pressure are constant. When a solid is heated above its
melting point, it becomes liquid, given that the pressure is higher than the triple point of the substance.
Intermolecular (or interatomic or interionic) forces are still important, but the molecules have enough
energy to move relative to each other and the structure is mobile. This means that the shape of a liquid
is not definite but is determined by its container. The volume is usually greater than that of the
corresponding solid, the most well known exception being water, H2O. The highest temperature at
which a given liquid can exist is its critical temperature.[5]
[edit]Gas
Main article: Gas
In a gas, the molecules have enough kinetic energy so that the effect of intermolecular forces is small
(or zero for an ideal gas), and the typical distance between neighboring molecules is much greater than
the molecular size. A gas has no definite shape or volume, but occupies the entire container in which it
is confined.

The Benefits of Introducing at-Home Testing for HIV in...
The growth of HIV cases in Indonesia is one of the most rapid ones among the countries in Asia
(UNAIDS 2013). Indonesia s Ministry of Health estimates that more than 500.000 people in Indonesia
will become infected with HIV in 2014 unless there is an acceleration of HIV prevention programs
(UNICEF Indonesia 2012). In Indonesia, the testing of HIV currently is done in voluntary counseling
and testing (VCT) clinics in selected hospitals. The patients are required to visit the clinic to do the
testing and counseling. VCT has been shown to have a role in both HIV prevention and as an entry
point to treatment (UNAIDS 2000). This program has been one of the most important parts of national
strategic plan to prevent and control HIV in Indonesia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, Wright and Katz (2006) announced that the amounts of suicide cases in the USA were not
increased after the approval of home testing kits by FDA in 1996. On the other hand, some people
feared that notification of negative result in home testing would diminish the chances to educate at
risk individuals to understand their risky behavior. Meanwhile, in VCT setting there are less concerns
about this problem because it has face to face counseling for patients with any results. However, it is
believed that direct counseling services currently provided in clinic based testing are ineffective
because they are too brief and inadequate (Harris 2005). Moreover, according to a study that
interviewed at risk individuals, most of them supported the argument that current face to face
counseling services were not necessarily optimal and also supported the introduction of new
counseling methods like brochures, magazine, and telephone counseling (Spielberg et al. as cited in
Whellams 2008). In fact, it has been demonstrated in a study by Frank et al. (1997) that pre test and
post test telephone counseling provided in anonymous HIV home collection kits offered a safe and
effective substitute to traditional VCT method.
Another drawback of at home testing kit especially OraQuick In Home Test is that it is not as accurate
as HIV blood tests currently used in the clinical setting. Its sensitivity is inferior to standard HIV
blood tests, especially the

Dr. Mengele: The Angel of Death Dr. Josef Mengele began his life alone and without family support.

Reflection Paper On My Writing Process
Reflective Memo
Description of my Writing Process
In my writing process, pre writing was my initial step where I had to find the narrative to write. I had
numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the one that
could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood memory regarding
the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story. Therefore, I had to use the
myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the course requirements.
Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the most intended life lesson
to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to write down in particular.
The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had several
challenges at this phase, such as word count, grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I had to write
several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to eliminate any
potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on whether it will
convey a relevant meaning to my audience.
But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising my
narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach where, I had to add some words, rearrange my
paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to
remove the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message. Finally,
replacing them with the relevant words and phrases.
My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar,
repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and proofreading were detailed processes since they were
the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper, since I had
read it several times, affirming that it made some sense. Furthermore, I gave it to my friend who is a
professional to proofread, and he assured me that the paper was sensible.
Revising the Narrative
Apparently, I had to review my story to convey the message swiftly. In the initial story,

Contextual Interpretation Of Religion In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Contextual Interpretations Of Religion
In Shakespeare s Hamlet At the time of Shakespeare s writing The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of
Denmark (hereby referred to as Hamlet), the two most commonly practiced denominations of
Christianity in Europe were Catholicism and Protestantism. Within the play itself, Shakespeare
references the traditions and ideas of both religions freely, creating cause for debate among modern
scholars as to what part, if any, religious context plays in Hamlet. The influence of both religions is
evident; however, as Shakespeare mixes the two, difficulties arise in finding a clear interpretation of
the opposing religious contexts. The idea of Catholicism as the foremost religion in Shakespeare s
Hamlet arises as a direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time period, Denmark was considered a Protestant (and more specifically, Lutheran)
nation. It has never been made clear whether or not Shakespeare intended to mirror the true to life
Denmark in his work, but the references can be easily inferred. One of the most important pieces of
evidence related to Protestantism in Hamlet is in reference to the University of Wittenberg, which
Hamlet, Horatio, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern attend during the course of the work. Wittenberg, the
city in which their university is located, is widely known as the birthplace of Protestantism and was
made famous in part by Martin Luther s Protestant Reformation and the nailing of the 95 Theses to the
door of the All Saints Church. The university itself also has significant ties to Protestantism; Martin
Luther himself was a professor at the University of Wittenberg and it was during his tenure as
Wittenberg s Doctor of Bible that Luther conceived of his famous 95 Theses. In addition, the
University of Wittenberg served as a center of the Protestant Reformation movement in Europe.
Therefore, it can be inferred that during their time at the university, Hamlet and his acquaintances
would likely have been very heavily exposed to and quite possibly even expected to serve the

Revolutionary War Dbq Questions And Answers
Revolutionary War Quiz The Revolution War started because the British king, King George III, was
treating the colonies very poor, making unjust laws, making the colonists pay taxes for the French and

and the soldiers ate and drank all the colonists had. After awhile of this abuse the colonists had enough
of it and they started to revolt against the British by tarring and feathering the tax collectors, making

The Issue Of Offshore Jurisdictions
Introduction
At first glance, the legislation in offshore jurisdictions makes the repatriation of assets seemingly
impossible, providing the impossibility defence for debtors unwilling to relinquish assets owed to
creditors. Offshore jurisdictions may use clever tactics such as duress and flight clauses to make
repatriation of the assets in protection trusts difficult, but onshore jurisdictions are not to be fooled; the
court will either declare the trust a sham, void the transaction, threaten professional negligence against
the attorney or hold the settlor in contempt until compliance. As long as the debtor is physically
residing in the onshore jurisdiction and subject to the laws of that nation, the court can effectively
through coercive means attempt to repatriate the assets from the trust.
Sham Trusts
In Snook v London and West Riding Investments Ltd [1967] 2 QB 786, 802, Lord Diplock defined
sham as, acts done or documents executed by the parties to the sham which are intended by them to
give to third parties or to the court the appearance of creating between the parties legal rights and
obligations different from the actual legal rights and obligations (if any) which the parties intend to
create. But one thing, I think, is clear in legal principle, morality and the authorities ... that for acts or
documents to be a sham with whatever legal consequences follow from this, all the parties thereto
must have a common intention that the acts or documents are not

The Criminal Responsibility Of The Mentally Ill

have slowly replaced the criminalization. Unfortunately for the protagonist of Perfume, an unfortunate
individual born with both situations, lacked all resources of treatment and sympathy, and was ridiculed
and isolated from society. The persuasive power of an odor cannot be fended off, it enters into us like

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. Body odor is an unpreventable component of animals including
humans and it is primarily resulted from skin glands or sweat gland excretions. Body odor may give
the impression of being absent on certain individuals because its intensity is affected by many
circumstances such as the environment or emotions. Studies proved that each individual secretes a
scent that is distinctive and identifiable. Researchers also show that Newborn babies are attracted to
their birth mother through their familiar and comforting sense than others. Thus the main characters
lack of such ability largely impacts his well being, both emotionally and physically. From centuries till

Analysis of the Homeless Family in America
High Risk Families: Statistical and Theoretical Analysis of the Homeless Family in America
Introduction While homelessness may be an issue that is so far from the minds of the average
American family, the truth remains that the current homelessness statistics in America suggest that the
issue of homelessness is far more average than one could ever imagine. As of January 2012, The
National Alliance to End Homelessness published a series of reports that listed the number of
homeless Americans at 636,017 with a rate of homelessness at 21 homeless people per 10,000
individuals in the general population (NAEH, 2012, pp.1). While 636,017 may seem small in
comparison to the country s 311,291,917 citizens, homelessness remains an issue that stems through
the ages, through families, through neighborhoods, through ethnicity and the like. Homelessness
detrimentally effects families in their health, mortality rate, and ability to seek out employment and
basic education. In further viewing the statistics at hand regarding the homeless, their health and
behavior, as well as understanding how these people and this issue can be remedied within our
country, an overarching assessment of family life and the causes and relief measures of homelessness
must be taken into account. Health Profile and Behavioral Patterns Homelessness has long been
associated with health risks and poor behavioral patterns based solely on the inability to purchase
sufficient care. Research notes that

  • 2. The True Cause Of Violent Behaviors The True Cause of Violent Behaviors in Today s Society There are volumes of media that are starting to harm the world in which we live. They have been linked to fourteen mass murders (Fletcher). Nine out of the top ten selling games have been labeled as violent and 42% of adolescents play them ( Children and Video Games ). These violent video games are a major problem in the United States and across the globe. Violent video games have a direct correlation with negative behaviors because they increase anger and aggression in young people, decrease prosocial behavior, and have unfavorable effects on a teens daily life. Violent video games increase violent behaviors: anger and aggression in teenagers. Adolescents relationships with others ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If people are viewing the world as a hostile and violent place then they are not able to grow and develop relationships with others in their lives. They are gaining beliefs that their life outside of violent video games wants them to fail, and that society is unable to understand their way of life. Violent video games are destroying the possibility of relationships between people. 90% of video games portray violence. Our brain sometimes doesn t distinguish between what is real and what we see on TV (Barclay). This is a scary realization because it shows that what we watch and play on TV can have a very harmful effect on our lives. Our brain is sometimes unable to recognize what is real and what is not, which in turn will not be able to help determine when a violent situation is occurring and when one is not. Violent video games do not promote prosocial behavior between humans. Violent video games have contributed to fatal actions. Mika Brzezinski said, It s kind of hard not to make a connection [between games and the Navy Yard Shooting] when you hear [the shooter s] friend saying that he would watch on a life size screen these violent video games for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours (Kain). Violent video games are being linked to many of the mass shootings around the United States, specifically the Washington Navy Yard shooting. Instead of helping each other some violent video game players are turning to guns and weapons, which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Laurence Cox explores U Dhammaloka s involvement in the Buddhist Tract Society (BTS), as a social movement organizer, and his participation in politics. (Cox, 2010). Summary Cox, (2010), in his article The Politics of Buddhist Revival: U Dhammaloka s as Social Movement Organiser, explains who U Dhammalok s was as a Buddhist (Cox, 2010). U Dhammaloka was born Irish turned Buddhist Monk, he was Fiery Tempered, Quick Witted, and Charming as well as Sociable (Cox, 2010, p. 174)). Dhammaloka was involved in union organizing, socialism, spiritualism, anarchism, atheism, and an Irish nationalism (Cox, 2010, p. 176). Also, Dhammaloka was known as a great orator and a man that was known for public confrontation also (Cox, 2010, p. 188). In addition to being the first European monk, he was first to be recognized as a European to conduct a Buddhist ordination (Cox, 2010, p. 174). • 4. Omnipotence Of God God is the almighty, the all powerful, and the creator. The concept of God has intrigued humans since the dawn of time. As a result, the ability to understand Him is necessary. The question, What is God?, has baffled intellectuals throughout history. According to the Oxford Dictionary, God is the creator and ruler of the universe and source of moral authority. However, this definition loosely describes the fundamentals of God himself. In order to accurately define Him, one must go beyond sources like the Bible because it contains refutable miracles to outline the acts of God. To truly define God, one must identify the traits that make God unparalleled. God must be an omniscient and omnipotent, an omnibenevolent, and an omnitemporal being. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By being all knowing, or omniscient, He is able to observe all parts of the universe. This ability is the reason why people believe He is cognizant of whether they have sinned or shown virtue. In order to be all knowing, God must also be all powerful, or omnipotent. Omnipotence allows God to create the universe and control everything within it. Without omniscience and omnipotence, God would be demoted to just a higher order being instead of the perfect being, which would defy the basis for monotheistic beliefs. Likely the most challenging trait for people to understand is God s omnibenevolence: the ability to be completely good. Omnibenevolence suggests His capacity to end all suffering. However, He intentionally allows the path of life to veer away from perfection. This fact stems from the gift of free will. Without free will, life would lose its meaning and thus would be fundamentally imperfect. God s omnibenevolence is to provide a life with meaning. His creation of an imperfect existence is the epitome of perfection, for what is life but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Planet Neptune Neptune is the eighth and farthest planet from the Sun in the Solar System. It is the fourth largest planet by diameter and the third largest by mass. Neptune is 17 times the mass of Earth and is somewhat more massive than its near twin Uranus, which is 15 times the mass of Earth but not as dense.[12] On average, Neptune orbits the Sun at a distance of 30.1 AU, approximately 30 times the Earth Sun distance. Named for the Roman god of the sea, its astronomical symbol is ♆, a stylised version of the god Neptune s trident. Neptune was the first planet found by mathematical prediction rather than by empirical observation. Unexpected changes in the orbit of Uranus ledAlexis Bouvard to deduce that its orbit was subject to gravitational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Via James Challis, he requested extra data from Sir George Airy, the Astronomer Royal, who supplied it in February 1844. Adams continued to work in 1845 46 and produced several different estimates of a new planet.[25][26] In 1845 46, Urbain Le Verrier, independently of Adams, developed his own calculations but also experienced difficulties in stimulating any enthusiasm in his compatriots. In June 1846, upon seeing Le Verrier s first published estimate of the planet s longitude and its similarity to Adams s estimate, Airy persuaded Cambridge Observatorydirector James Challis to search for the planet. Challis vainly scoured the sky throughout August and September.[24][27] Meantime, Le Verrier by letter urged Berlin Observatory astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle to search with the observatory s refractor. • 6. Compare And Contrast H. H Holmes And Jack The Ripper According to Exodus 20:13 you shall not murder, however the world consists of countless people who disobey this command. Murderers are especially horrific if they are serial killers because it is awful enough to kill one person, but to murder repeatedly is sickening. It is extremely depressing to know that some murderers never get caught. One of the most infamous serial killers whose identity was never uncovered is Jack the ripper. Numerous people have different theories relating to who Jack the ripper was, but none have been proven. One main theory is that America s first serial killer, H. H. Holmes was London s Jack the ripper. To find evidence to prove the theory of whether or not H. H. Holmes was Jack the ripper; crucial evidence to look at are the similarities between the killers. To clarify, Henry Howard Holmes known as H. H. Holmes was America s first serial killer. As a child, Holmes was terrified of the doctor, however a few bullies from his school forced him to touch the real skeleton in their doctor s office which started his obsession with human anatomy. When Holmes was a teenager he interned at his local doctor s office and later went to Michigan State for a medical degree and became a skilled doctor. Holmes took out fake insurance policies on the bodies he used in medical school after pouring acid on their face so they were unrecognizable in order to afford college. In 1889 Holmes designed and built a hotel to assist his murders. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Significance of the Title of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee The title of this novel is To Kill a Mockingbird and throughout the book the word mockingbird appears several times. The mockingbird is the most significant symbol in the novel. The motif of the story is the innocent creature of the mockingbird. What is a mockingbird? A mockingbird is a type of finch. It is a small plain bird and has a beautiful song. It got its name because its beautiful sing mocks other birds. The mockingbird idea first comes about in chapter 10,when Atticus is telling the children how to use their shotguns. He tells them: Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit em. But remember it s a sin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They haven t done anything wrong and are scared that they may get hurt or something bad may happen when the dog appears. Another time the mockingbird idea comes up is in chapter 21,when everyone is in the court room waiting for the verdict on whether Tom Robinson has been found guilty or not. Scout describes the atmosphere in the courtroom like this: The feeling grew until the atmosphere in the court room was exactly the same as a cold February morning, when the mockingbirds were still and the carpenters had stopped hammering on miss Maudie s new house. I think that when Scout talks about the atmosphere being like a cold February morning she is describing the tension in the room. When everyone is still and silent. When Scout says that the mockingbirds were still I think that she was referring to Atticus and Tom Robinson. I think this because Tom is waiting to see if he has been found guilty or not and Atticus is waiting to see if he has won his case. They are both deadly still and anxious to hear the verdict. They have been regarded as mockingbirds because both Atticus and Tom are innocent characters that have done nothing wrong. Also another place in which the idea of mockingbirds appears is in chapter 25,when Mr Underwood is talking about Tom Robinson s escape and death. He seems very opposed to Tom being shot, as he was a cripple. In the newspaper article he wrote he said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As young Americans, we never received the chance to actually know what it was like to live in that era. Learning about the past times helps us understand what we did not go through ourselves. In order to receive the best chance at learning about the times, one should look at actual representations of what life was like. For example, if a person was interested in learning about World War II, that person should find it in his or her best interest to look at World War II posters. The posters would provide the person interested with an item built in that time period, for that time period, by the people in that time period. Considering that time travel ... In modern times, one is likely to see a drill or something of that sort on an advertisement. Likewise, the other hand grasps a gun. This gun is likely an old, bolt action rifle. The bolt action rifles are slow at loading and a waste of time compared to the advanced guns available. We have plenty of guns that can amount to twice the damage and more rounds per magazine. If a similar principle were placed on a poster of modern time, the hands would likely grip a highly advanced gun and a power drill. This is because of the different inventions and upgrades of machines between the two time periods, which is all available due to the facts within the poster. The WWII poster begged the attention of the local town. The poster is and was in fact a poster, so it was posted in a local town for the locals to see. It was not a nationwide commercial on television or even a billboard. It was simply a poster within towns. • 10. Tragedy And The Common Man According to Aristotle s theory of tragedy, tragedies are best equipped to be based on a protagonist that is renowned and prosperous, so his good fortune can be dramatically changed. In contrast, Arthur Miller s essay Tragedy and the Common Man states that the common man is as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings ever were. He proves in his modern essay that the characteristics and emotions of the common man and the highly placed are entitled to be similar. Miller even identifies emotions of a average person and how they result in a better tragedy than those who are highly ranked. In his play Death of Salesman he demonstrates that the normal life of a sales man can still make for a great tragedy and that his protagonist, Willy Loman, is worthy of a tragedy. One of the central themes related to his essay and play is that the presence of fear in a common man s life is more prevalent and perhaps draws us closer the character. Willy Loman s fear of not meeting the standards to the successful people around him, such as his brother and neighbor, and the failure in his job as a father that correlates with his children s failures is the storyline Miller presents in his play that weights down the ... • 11. Theseus In The Odyssey Of all the Greek heroes, the greatest of all was the mighty and powerful Theseus. Theseus rose above and beyond any other hero by using his intellect and not just superior strength. He refused to take the easy path and instead took the path he felt was right. The myth of Theseus proves that intellect, courage, and compassion can be superior to strength and brute force. Theseus, unlike many of the Greek heroes, was not only the son of a god, but a mortal man as well. Some versions of the myth claim that his dual paternity was caused by his mother having relations with both Poseidon, god of the sea, and Aegeus, the king of Athens, in the same night. Other version claim he was the son of either one or the other. Before Theseus was born, King Aegeus left a pair of sandals and his sword in a hollow covered ... All Theseus needed to do was attach a thread to the entrance of the labyrinth and unwind it as he ventured farther inside. Ariadne offered one condition for the solution: Theseus must take her back with him to Athens and make her his wife. He agreed and bravely went forth to challenge the Minotaur using only his mind and raw strength. Theseus successfully defeated the Minotaur and ended the tribute for good. He, Ariadne, and the rest of the tributes returned to the ship on which they came to journey back to Athens. Ariadne never made it to Athens. In some versions of the myth Theseus deserts her while in others she dies of sea sickness. • 12. Challenges Faced By The World Today CONCLUSION Security is one of the major challenges that is being faced by the world today, as seen by continuous revelations about breaches and incidents. On this note of insecurity and unpredictability, banking industry is keen to redefine its approach to security thereby making an attempt to balance three critical factors i.e. cost, innovation and risk. On parallel grounds, the domain of internal security is undergoing drastic changes that mandates banking institutions to embrace new set of skills and practices. Fraud can be categorized as a business risk it is like a sword of Damocles over a bank s future. This must change for the good. The rapid pace with which the technology is changing, like the recent explosion of cellular customers, is often entailed by necessary evils. An unstoppable tsunami is engulfing banks with their employees and clients carrying their private electronic gadgets to work. Similarly, applicants for BYOD has surged and simultaneously it accelerates the rate of security threats, both ethically and technologically. Online banking proves to be the antithesis of all the innovations of security professionals due to their identifiable features such as their mobility, richness in data and susceptibility to theft. Threat modelling and vulnerability assessment offers new insights that facilitates a more pro active approach to security, provided organizations pay equal focus to the ever growing market of potential threats. • 13. Scientific Method and Sir Karl Popper Sir Karl Popper, challenging the status quo, inspiring generations to ponder on the meaning of science, the methods to find truth, is one of the most influential philosophers of the 20th century. Of particular importance to scientific methods of inquiry is the brawl between the development of theory and the criteria for science. In Popper s own words, it is in this brawl that Popper decided to grapple with the problem: When should a theory be ranked as scientific? or Is there a criterion for the scientific character or status of a theory? (Popper 1957), p. 1). Born just after the turn of the century in 1902 (my Great Aunt was 4 at the time), in London, England, Popper began grappling with the brawl between when is theory scientific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of empirical methods and inductive explanations is the root cause for Popper s revolt upon the metaphysical reasoning used to explain social behavior (at this time). It is not that astrology is a pseudo science; astrology is merely a residue of the subject of the investigation (Popper 1952). Disciplines are means of administratively distinguishing the unified systems from which problems may be taught. It is far more important to understanding falsification that We are not students of a subject matter but students of problems (Popper 1952)p. 125). Traditionally, scientists formed hypotheses to explain or rationalize some natural phoneme that they have observed. Popper intends that a hypothesis must predict a phenomenon or behavior and not just offer to explain it. I believe that there is not a classic of science, or of mathematics, or indeed a book worth reading that could not be shown, by a skillful application of the technique of language analysis, to be full of meaningless pseudo propositions (Popper 1952), p. 130). Popper is positive that each hypothesis has a possible contradiction. This sensitiveness to problems to the extent of having a consuming passion for them fortifies Popper s revolt against merely accepting plausible and rationalized results of observations. For falsification to take place, the scientist must identify situations that falsify or negate the hypothesis. Finally, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before their journey began, they encountered a shortcut discovered by Hastings. Like any other normal person, they decided to take the easier route that unfortunately led to tragedy. There were many key elements leading to the misfortune of this group. From the beginning of their journey, the Donner party made mistakes. First of all, at the time of the party s departure there was an outbreak of cholera and malaria. Germs and disease are not good to carry along a journey half way across the country. Mr. Hastings promised the party that he would wait for them at a fort along the way to California. When the party reached the fort, Hastings had already gone ahead a week earlier with another group. He left simple instructions for the Donner party to follow telling them it would not take long to get to Salt Lake. Then they turned off track into the wilderness. It took 6 days to chop through to Big Mountain and one month to reach Salt Lake rather than the week they had been promised. After 3 days they ran out of water and Reed s oxen ran away and could not be found. Thirty six oxen were lost and wagons had to be left behind in order to get over the mountain. Then Reed killed Schneider because he was whipping the oxen. Everyone was going mad. Indians killed 21 more oxen and then the Donner axle broke on the first wagon. To make things worse, they encountered blizzard like snow and sleet. If they had rested 4 days instead of 5 they would have made it through to California safely without having to deal with any of the conditions mentioned above. There are two defences to an action in negligence: contributory negligence and voluntary assumption of risk. (FoBL, 2005, p83) This case only involves contributory negligence. According to section 26 of the Wrongs Act 1958 (Vic.), the result of a successful plea of contributory negligence will be an apportionment of damages. So, if a defendant is a negligent without any contributory negligence by the plaintiff, the plaintiff will receive 100 per cent of the damage, but if the plaintiff is held to be contributory negligent to the extent of 40 per cent, then the plaintiff will only receive 60 per cent of the damage. (FoBL, 2005, p84) For instance, the case of Liftronic Pty Ltd v. Unver[10], the defendant (Liftronic Pty Ltd) was found liable in negligence but Unver s damages were reduced by 60 per cent due to his contributory negligence. In this case, Rebecca had seen the waiter wiping the floor, and assumed that all of the moisture had been cleared away. Then she did not ask the waiter about the damp floor, continue to dance vigorously. Therefore, the defendant could apportion part of damages by contributory negligence. Industrialization has been proved to release high amounts of carbon dioxide since the Industrial Revolution began in the early 19th century. The total amount of carbon dioxide has increased by one ? third of the usual amount in the atmosphere. Transportation uses fossil fuels to run and as a result, it produces gases such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. Now, in the modern lifestyle, most of the people want and have private cars. This further increases the amount carbon dioxide released to the air by the means of transportation. The biggest cause of global warming is forest burning. This is because when we are burning forests, trees inside it, which usually absorb carbon dioxide, release lots amount of carbon dioxide. Besides this, the earth has also experienced natural global warming and ice ages several times before, which rises by up to 5 degree Celsius. Atoms have many nearest neighbors in contact, yet no long range order is present. ‎ The volume is definite if the temperature and pressure are constant. When a solid is heated above its melting point, it becomes liquid, given that the pressure is higher than the triple point of the substance. Intermolecular (or interatomic or interionic) forces are still important, but the molecules have enough energy to move relative to each other and the structure is mobile. This means that the shape of a liquid is not definite but is determined by its container. The volume is usually greater than that of the corresponding solid, the most well known exception being water, H2O. The highest temperature at which a given liquid can exist is its critical temperature.[5] [edit]Gas Main article: Gas In a gas, the molecules have enough kinetic energy so that the effect of intermolecular forces is small (or zero for an ideal gas), and the typical distance between neighboring molecules is much greater than the molecular size. I had numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the one that could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood memory regarding the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story. Therefore, I had to use the myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the course requirements. Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the most intended life lesson to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to write down in particular. The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had several challenges at this phase, such as word count, grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I had to write several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to eliminate any potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on whether it will convey a relevant meaning to my audience. But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising my narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach where, I had to add some words, rearrange my paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to remove the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message. Finally, replacing them with the relevant words and phrases. My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar, repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and proofreading were detailed processes since they were the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper, since I had read it several times, affirming that it made some sense. During this time period, Denmark was considered a Protestant (and more specifically, Lutheran) nation. It has never been made clear whether or not Shakespeare intended to mirror the true to life Denmark in his work, but the references can be easily inferred. One of the most important pieces of evidence related to Protestantism in Hamlet is in reference to the University of Wittenberg, which Hamlet, Horatio, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern attend during the course of the work. Wittenberg, the city in which their university is located, is widely known as the birthplace of Protestantism and was made famous in part by Martin Luther s Protestant Reformation and the nailing of the 95 Theses to the door of the All Saints Church. The university itself also has significant ties to Protestantism; Martin Luther himself was a professor at the University of Wittenberg and it was during his tenure as Wittenberg s Doctor of Bible that Luther conceived of his famous 95 Theses. In addition, the University of Wittenberg served as a center of the Protestant Reformation movement in Europe. Therefore, it can be inferred that during their time at the university, Hamlet and his acquaintances would likely have been very heavily exposed to and quite possibly even expected to serve the Protestant ... • 31. The Issue Of Offshore Jurisdictions Introduction At first glance, the legislation in offshore jurisdictions makes the repatriation of assets seemingly impossible, providing the impossibility defence for debtors unwilling to relinquish assets owed to creditors. Offshore jurisdictions may use clever tactics such as duress and flight clauses to make repatriation of the assets in protection trusts difficult, but onshore jurisdictions are not to be fooled; the court will either declare the trust a sham, void the transaction, threaten professional negligence against the attorney or hold the settlor in contempt until compliance. As long as the debtor is physically residing in the onshore jurisdiction and subject to the laws of that nation, the court can effectively through coercive means attempt to repatriate the assets from the trust. Sham Trusts In Snook v London and West Riding Investments Ltd [1967] 2 QB 786, 802, Lord Diplock defined sham as, acts done or documents executed by the parties to the sham which are intended by them to give to third parties or to the court the appearance of creating between the parties legal rights and obligations different from the actual legal rights and obligations (if any) which the parties intend to create. But one thing, I think, is clear in legal principle, morality and the authorities ... that for acts or documents to be a sham with whatever legal consequences follow from this, all the parties thereto must have a common intention that the acts or documents are not ... Unfortunately for the protagonist of Perfume, an unfortunate individual born with both situations, lacked all resources of treatment and sympathy, and was ridiculed and isolated from society. The persuasive power of an odor cannot be fended off, it enters into us like breath into our lungs, it fills us up, imbues us totally. There is no remedy for it. ― Patrick Suskind, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. Body odor is an unpreventable component of animals including humans and it is primarily resulted from skin glands or sweat gland excretions. Body odor may give the impression of being absent on certain individuals because its intensity is affected by many circumstances such as the environment or emotions. Studies proved that each individual secretes a scent that is distinctive and identifiable. • 33. Analysis of the Homeless Family in America High Risk Families: Statistical and Theoretical Analysis of the Homeless Family in America Introduction While homelessness may be an issue that is so far from the minds of the average American family, the truth remains that the current homelessness statistics in America suggest that the issue of homelessness is far more average than one could ever imagine. As of January 2012, The National Alliance to End Homelessness published a series of reports that listed the number of homeless Americans at 636,017 with a rate of homelessness at 21 homeless people per 10,000 individuals in the general population (NAEH, 2012, pp.1). While 636,017 may seem small in comparison to the country s 311,291,917 citizens, homelessness remains an issue that stems through the ages, through families, through neighborhoods, through ethnicity and the like. Homelessness detrimentally effects families in their health, mortality rate, and ability to seek out employment and basic education. In further viewing the statistics at hand regarding the homeless, their health and behavior, as well as understanding how these people and this issue can be remedied within our country, an overarching assessment of family life and the causes and relief measures of homelessness must be taken into account. Health Profile and Behavioral Patterns Homelessness has long been associated with health risks and poor behavioral patterns based solely on the inability to purchase sufficient care.
