Essays On People
Writing an essay on the topic "Essays On People" is a challenging endeavor that requires a deep
understanding of human nature, diverse perspectives, and the ability to weave a compelling
narrative. The complexity lies not only in the diversity of people and their experiences but also in
capturing the essence of humanity in a coherent and engaging manner.
One of the difficulties in tackling this topic is the vast scope it encompasses. People are
multifaceted beings with varied backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and behaviors. Attempting to
encapsulate the richness of human existence within the confines of an essay requires careful
consideration of what to include and what to omit. Striking a balance between breadth and depth
is a constant challenge.
Moreover, the challenge extends to avoiding stereotypes and generalizations. Each person is
unique, and any attempt to categorize individuals into broad stereotypes risks oversimplifying
the intricacies of human identity. Navigating this delicate balance demands a nuanced approach
to ensure a fair representation of the diversity within the human experience.
Additionally, the emotional and ethical dimensions of discussing people in an essay present
another layer of difficulty. Addressing sensitive topics, such as race, gender, or socio-economic
disparities, requires a thoughtful and empathetic approach. Balancing objectivity with empathy is
a tightrope walk, as the writer must avoid both detachment and over-identification.
Furthermore, the evolving nature of society poses a challenge in keeping the content relevant
and up-to-date. People and their stories are continuously shaped by cultural shifts, technological
advancements, and global events. Staying current while maintaining the timeless aspects of the
essay adds an extra layer of complexity to the writing process.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic "Essays On People" is an intricate task that demands
a combination of research, empathy, and literary finesse. It requires a writer to navigate the vast
landscape of human experiences while avoiding pitfalls such as generalizations, stereotypes, and
ethical concerns. Ultimately, successfully capturing the essence of people in a written form is a
formidable challenge, but it is a challenge that allows for a profound exploration of the intricacies
of the human condition.

Trade Routes Dbq
Trade has been an important commodity since the settlement of mankind. Trade
routes as the Silk Road, Turquoise Road, and Gold Road have connected communities
and countries throughout the continents. Trading doesn t always involve
commodities; trading can include technology, disease, and religion. Early global trade
experienced wealth and prosperity because of the demand for goods, knowledge
of the sellers, and expanding trade routes. When it comes to trading, supply and
demand are a key factor, as seen in Document 1, trade routes reach worldwide.
Traders travel from place to place buying and selling their goods to take to new
markets as seen in Document 4. Like in the Silk Road, the demand of silk from the

Gaelic Ireland s military became more pronounced going into the 17th century as

movement used to solidify internal autonomy for the British Empire. Thanks to a
Protestant lawyer, Isaac Butt, an Irish Parliament was established in 1870. After
going through the Irish War of Independence and the Anglo Irish Treaty in 1922,
Ireland became an independent free state. The last conflict in Ireland occurred in the
late 1960s, which resolved thirty years later with the Belfast Agreement. Because
these two countries have similar social classes, lifestyles and gender relations, many
outsiders confuse specific traditions practiced individually as parallel customs.
Ireland and Scotland coincide in practicing Catholicism. Surprisingly, Ireland and
Scotland have many similarities such as national icons, the Gaelic tongue, which
was brought to Scotland in the Middle Ages by Fergus Mor (Sayers), and an almost
unhealthy popularity of whiskey. Due to the size of Europe and the minute distance
between England, Scotland, and Ireland, the officially proven origin of the Jig
differs from source to source. Traditional Jig music is referenced as folk music to
encompass the various genres underneath the umbrella term of folk music . As a
result of cultural diffusion, the folk music of

Rabies Essay
Abstract
Rabies is a highly infectious viral disease that can easily ruin and eventually end the
lives of both humans and animals alike. Rabies comes in two forms for animals. It
comes in the form of paralytic rabies, which is the kind that puts you in paralysis
right from the beginning, skipping the symptoms of agitation and excitability. Rabies
also appears in the form of furious rabies, which is completely different in the way
that it makes the victim restless, vicious and agitated. When humans get rabies, their
symptoms start out with simple headaches and fevers and later progresses to terrible
things such as becoming hydrophobic because of painful throat spasms and
paralysis. A definite diagnosis of rabies needs lab analysis of... Show more content on

Paralytic rabies sometimes cause animals to become depressed and to hide off
somewhere by themselves. As the disease progresses, it takes the animal into
paralysis. The symptoms of these rabies are things like an animal s inability to raise
its head up and even to make sounds. It might also be unusually weak and lethargic.
These unfortunate animals also look as if they re choking and have continuous drool
coming from their mouths. Another thing is it sometimes causes an animal to lose its
fear of humans. Any animal (that by nature is usually shy) seen being social with
people should raise alarm that the animal probably has rabies.
Furious rabies are just the opposite. They cause animals to become over ecstatic
towards other animals, people, and even stationary objects. Animals with furious
rabies seem to be agitated and restless at all times. In some cases, animals with
furious rabies will gnaw and bite at their own limbs. These animals are constantly
growling at everything they see. They have also been known for getting involuntary
and intense seizures that are terribly painful for the animal.
People can also be infected by this destructive disease. Their symptoms are things
like a fever, headache, and loss of appetite. These people also have a terrible itching
and burning at the
The Transmission Of Measles Virus
Measles is a highly transmissible viral infection caused by the rubeola virus. The
first published record of the disease dates back to the 9th century. It has become an
increased problem in the United States due to the elevated population travelling
around the globe. Most outbreak cases of measles have come from Germany, India,
England, France, Vietnam and the Philippines (MeaslesCases and Outbreaks, 2017).
The most recent measles outbreak was discovered on January 5th, 2015. After
researching the outbreak, it was concluded that it originated between December 17th
and 20th of 2014. It was linked to two Disney theme parks in California and believed
to have been originally transmitted from the Philippines (Measles Outbreak, 2015). A

With close work and school proximity, children and adults would easily become
infected if they were non immune. Adults who must stay home to care for sick
children, would miss work and decrease their business s productivity. The government
would increase funds for the hospitals and health departments to treat the increased
patient acuity and provide proper immunizations. Hospitals would need to increase
staff to provide adequate care. Many areas of the community would be affected by a
measles outbreak.
At the first sign of measles, health care providers are required to immediately report
their findings to the county health department. Even without lab work for proof of
the virus in the community, health care practitioners should still declare suspicions
of the virus. This will help to decrease the spread of the disease throughout the
community. If the outbreak occurred in a public place, a press conference by the
Department of Health Bureau of Epidemiology would be needed to inform the public

Canada Transport History
Transportation has always played an important role in history of Canada. Due to
construction of the railway system, many provinces, such as British Columbia and
Prince Edward Island, agreed to join Confederation. Canada s first railway line was
built in 1836 and the first railway system was completed and opened in 1885. On
November 8, 1885, the first rail train traveled across Canadafrom sea to sea. These
were the first steps of transportation history in Canada. The transportation system is
a necessary tool used for development of Canada, but it is a problematic aspect for a
large country because it is a very expensive sector.
Transportation is an essential component of the Canadian economy. The transport
system makes possible for Canada to trade and develop local and international
businesses. Canadians like to think of themselves as residents of an autonomous
nation, but increasingly, local and national politics are ... Show more content on

Without foreign buyers of raw materials like softwood and oil, Canada would be a
much poorer place. Shelves would go bare and the economy would grind to a stop
in weeks. (Jake MacDonald). On the other hand, sometimes a transportation system
does damage to ecology. For instance, in April 9, 2015 there was an oil spill in
Vancouver s English Bay. The 2,700 litres of bunker fuel seeped from a ship into the
bay because of mechanical problems with the ship s pumping system. As a result,
several beaches were soiled along English Bay and Burrard Inlet.
Development of transport infrastructure is a very expensive process. When the
Canadian government, in the 1870s, promised to build a railway from Nova Scotia
to British Columbia, it took more than two years just to find a company which agreed
to do it. This is what happens today when the country needs to grow the

Six Days by Jeremy Bowen Essay
In this ambitious work, Jeremy Bowen details the happenings between Israel and
Palestine. This Middle East war sparked much debate throughout the world
especially amongst historians. Bowen uses this work as a personal recount of the
six days that shaped the world as it is today. Bowen, an experienced BBC (British
Broadcasting Corporation) journalist and editor, presented the world with the
Radio 4 series which allowed listeners to learn of the Six Day war. Through a
detailed assessment of Bowens words readers of the book are able to submerse
themselves back to 1967 and view how monumental moments such as West Bank

Egypt than began to mobilize its forces in and around the Suez Canal, moving its
forces eastward across the Sinai desert towards the Israeli border, challenging the
extraction of UN Emergency Force (UNEF) stationed along the boundary. The
Egyptians ousted the UN Emergency Force (UNEF) from the Gaza Strip and Sinai,
and continued pouring its military forces into these areas. Thus, Egypt closed the
Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping, constituting a case for war for Israel. Responding
the Egyptian call, the governments of Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Lebanon
encouraged their militaries towards the Israeli border. Israel mobilized its reserve
forces, and launched a diplomatic campaign to win international support for ending
the Egyptian blockade of Israeli shipping through the Strait of Tiran.
Bowen then begins to chronicle parts of the war as it develops from hour to hour.
One of the benefits of reading this book besides the content is that Bowen is explore
policies, planning, and combats in equal measure. He devotes special attention, for
example, to the accurate accounts from the Israeli side, the idea that diplomacy was
merely an option and the fact the prime minister at the time, Levi Eshkol was very
reluctant to go to war.
In the midst of the thorough detail, however, Bowen still manages to highlight the
essential details of the war. He also shows that Palestinians were a witness to the
cultivation of their own history. Bowen also
Communism In The John Birch Society
Anti Communism in the United States was a widespread political and cultural
phenomenon during the Cold War which reached nearly all areas of American life. It
was embraced to differing degrees by both the Left and Right, spreading into
churches, schools, entertainment, and even gaining influence in the Civil Rights
movement. There were many different opinions over how much of a danger
communismwas. Was it merely an external threat from the Soviet Union, or did it also
come from the communists in America, working from within their very midst? If the
U.S. was under threat from internal communists, then how widespread was this
enemy and how should the issue be addressed? These were the issues that divided
America and among these divisions extremes... Show more content on

Mulloy s 2014 book The World of The John Birch Society. Mulloy agrees with Nash
about the importance of the 1964 election to the society, believing that they
reached the height of their influence in that campaign. He portrays the Society as
being more politically powerful than Nash, and that by Nixon denouncing them
during his 1962 gubernatorial campaign in California, he alienated many
influential grass roots conservatives, which was part of the reason for his loss.
Mulloy makes it seem as if Goldwater could have denounced the Society and
distanced himself from extremist elements of the party, but partially because of
their power and influence at the time, he was afraid of losing their support. Mulloy
believes that the society played an essential role in the revitalization of
conservatism, and agrees with Nash they were pushed from the political mainstream
by people like Buckley, however unlike Nash, he also believes that they still held
considerable influence on the political fringe and that many of their ideas still
reflected those of many Americans even after 1964. Even without mainstream
support, Mulloy shows that they still provided a vocal minority in the resistance to
communism and the radical New Left of the era. Mulloy sees the John Birch Society
as going through a slow decline after Goldwater s defeat and that into 1967 and 1968
especially, they lost much of their appeal by continually becoming more and more
conspiratorial, eventually even embracing the long paranoid tradition of the Illuminati
Unnatural Treatment Of Animals In Animal Captivity
Man made environments or animals are not right and unsuitable for their living.
These animals are subjected to an unnatural environment. This causes confusion
which then leads to hostility potentially sending an animal to its death when they try
to rebel. Then they are mistreated for scientific purposes or beaten to fulfill a purpose.
All these horrific things can happen to an animal that is forcibly taken from its home
and sent into man made environments. Many horrific things happen to animals while
in human captivity. One of these things is the unnatural treatment of animals in
captivity. Animals in the wild must work for their food and this makes them stronger
and more capable to survive. These animals in captivity however, do

Oprah Winfrey said Luck is a matter or preparation meeting opportunity. I can t find

happens due to planning, whether they were impulsive or very developed/shaped

why Luck, as described by preparation meeting opportunity , happened due to
actions carried out as a result of plans. One example I can think of as what might

believe that I happened to fall in love because I planned to, not due to a happy

they fell in love. I specifically wanted to fall in love at the age of 25, and that s when

The Use of Narratives to Express the Religious Beliefs of People in Western Religions
For the layman, familiarity with the major religions stems from the stories that are
associated with them. Using the narratives that are derived from the sacred texts is
the most prominent way in which our society identifies the Westernreligions. The
Jewish tradition is best correlated to stories like the Exodus and the parting of the
Red Seas, for example, as are the many tales of the miracles of Jesus connected to
Christianity. This essay will present narratives as an easy method of providing the
basic groundwork for the Western religious traditionsof Judaism, Christianity, and

Therefore, the holy day of Sabbath is it is known for Jews and Christians, is absent
in Islam. God was not weary from the act of creation, and oversaw all that he had
created, rather. This could be seen as part of the belief in Islam that the Koran is a
correction to the previous religions of Judaism and Christianity, and that the holy
scriptures were somehow corrupted in their present form.
In the Western tradition, primarily in the United States where Christianity prevails,
the story of creation from Genesis is held in high regard, and controversies have
erupted disputing whether or not its fundamentals should be taught in school. The
founding of this nation through the Constitution was erected with the belief of
separation of church and state. In the conservative 1920s, a huge court case erupted
from the dispute between the Christian creationism and the scientific founding of
Charles Darwin s evolution. The Scopes Monkey trial of 1925 saw a schoolteacher
found guilty of teaching evolution in the classroom, a theory that flabbergasted
fundamentalist Christians who perceived it ludicrous that humans could have
descended from monkeys. The narrative tradition of the Genesis creation was
evidently a central issue for Americans and typified the Christian identity in the U.S.
at a time when modernism was emerging, as the fourteen states had anti Evolution
statutes.
According to the first account of creation in Genesis, God made man on the sixth

The Importance Of Merit Pay
In the Merriam Webster s dictionary, a teacher is defined as one that teaches;
especially: one whose occupation is to instruct. Teachers are people who decide to
teach students, as a career. There is no such thing as a bad teacher, just poor quality
teaching. So why are teachers so resentful with their job if they chose that job to
begin with? There can be various factors that contribute to the lack of motivation that
teachers may have. To increase motivation an incentive was created and applied in the
early 1980s (Podgursky) which was the merit pay. There have been studies on whether
this incentive is effective. Students around the country are still receiving poor quality
education. Being a future educator, I believe that there is a better way to raise pay
for teachers because merit pay is unfair. Although some advocators for merit pay
suggest that this method will provide a goal for teachers to effectively teach, they
have not considered various factors such as the students, their environment and what
they learn apart from schoollessons. Merit pay is an unfair incentive that will not take
into consideration what teachers teach apart from lesson plans, lead to a more strict
approach a new curriculum, and create a hostile environment for teachers and their
students.
According to the United States Department of Labor (DOL) they stated merit pay,
also known as pay for performance, is defined as a raise in pay based on a set of
criteria set by the employer... Merit pay is a

This song is full of multiple literary devices such as hyperboles, metaphors, and

The overwhelming facts point to a shady underworld of self dealing and
opportunistic exploitation of the poor and working class, which was until recently,
well hidden from the commoner. The executives of WorldCom and Enron provide
real world examples of unethical business practices, where the desire to make money
for their shareholders transcended into an addiction to greed and self dealing that
were displayed by their, excessive pay, perks, and golden parachutes (Carson 392) at
the expense of all stakeholders. All is not lost, there are corporations that pride
themselves in their sound business model and commitment to ethical business

Biblical Allusions In If This Is A Man By Primo Levi
In the memoir If This Is A Man Primo Levi offers an insight into his life during the
brutal and inhuman acts inflicted upon the Jews by the SS Soldiers during the
Holocaust. Levi tells the story of his experiences in the Auschwitz concentration
camp, and the divisions between his fellow haftlinge and the German soldiers due to
the significant differences between languageand culture. The results of extreme anti
Semitism led to the dehumanisation and de socialization of the prisoners, who often
had limited understanding of the soldiers intentions. Further, the prisoners were
largely segregated due to the diverse nationalities, religions, and ethnicities. The
prisoners were stripped of all possessions and their loved ones, though one facet that

Dante is in the 8th circle of hell and encounters Ulysses, who retells his final voyage

In this poem Whitman identifies America and the people that make up the country.
By doing this Whitman perceives the world around him and pinpoints man which fits
into individualism. One of Whitman s romantic ideas in I Hear America Singing is
his belief that America is made up of individuals. By making such a connection,
Whitman shows that he believes that American is represented through the working
individuals by them each doing their respective jobs Few would argue that Whitman
is depicting the honest challenges of working individuals, but within his
composition, Whitman conveys an ideal thought or hope of what he aspires for
America to be or to be represented as. One can see where Romanticism is used into

What Is Coronary Heart Disease
Coronary Heart Disease
1. Coronary heart disease is a condition when a plaque is formed in a coronary
artery. The plaque stuck in the coronary artery can narrow the artery and therefore
the oxygen rich blood flow is reduced. In another case, the plaque can break open and
a blood clot can be formed which blocks the artery and prevents the supply the heart
with oxygen rich blood. In such situation a heart attack may occur. Coronary Heart
Disease is usually caused by poor eating habits and lack of exercise.
2.
Lack of warming up or cooling down raises the risk of nausea or shortness of breath
during exercise.
There is a risk that high intensity exercising can cause sudden raise of blood pressure.

The Importance Of A Second Leadership Competency
A second leadership competency that I have been able to develop throughout this
project is communicating effectively with the healthcare consumer and colleagues
(American Nurses Association, 2010, p. 55). Leading a project is rather stressful, and
requires good communication and organization. While I felt I was good at
communicationprior to the project, my skills have definitely improved since the
project has begun. I have learned that all people so not communicate the same and
that some people are not good with communication. Still come people do not
communicate at all. I have found that even when I felt I was communicating well,
preception of what is being said and how an e mail is read is a huge battle. I have
learned how to write an email and re read it several times before sending it to
ensure that the message I am trying to get across is how each person will read the e
mail. It is essential when working with a group to take all imput as valuable, even if it
is not the same vision that the leader has. Ineffective communication can dismantle an
entire project and produce a large amount of stress and anguish among all members. It
am thankful that the interdisciplinary team on this project are very supportive and
strive for good communication. An additional leadershipcompetency that I have taken
from this project is to mentor colleagues for the advancement of nursing practice, the
profession and the quality of healthcare (American Nurses Association,
The Acadians
In the early 1700s, settlers from France came to the Atchafalaya River Basin to
trade furs with the Native Americans and perform raids into tribal areas to gather
slaves. Peace was eventually reached in 1718, but the Native American population
had decreased tremendously as a result of warfare and new diseases. Once the
British won the French and Indian War in 1763, Acadians from Nova Scotia began
seeking a new Acadia, or nouvelle Acadie, in America. It wasn t until 1765 that they
reached Louisiana and settled in New Orleans along the Teche Ridge. The Acadians
developed a variety of new skills such as: rudimentary farming, logging, and ranching.
Throughout the course of time, Acadians gradually began intermarrying with the
other settles in the area. Hispanics, Old World and Canadian French, Native
Americans, and enslaved Americans are all examples of such. This resulted in what
became known as the French Creole culture. Cajuns are the descendants of the
Acadians that were exiled by the British, and make up a large portion of southern
Louisiana s population. Several of the current residents of the Atchafalaya Basin area
can trace their family all the way back to the Acadians. Their unique way of doing

periodontal diseases are prevalent human diseases defined by the signs and symptoms
of gingival inflammation and/or periodontal tissue destruction. These diseases are
conventionally diagnosed by clinical evaluation of the signs of inflammation in the

They provide constant probing force, computer storage of data, and precise electronic
management of the resulting inflammation. However, clinical evaluations of these
systems have reported only slightly improved reproducibility when compared with
conventional probing, although not clinically significant. Other electronic probing
systems have been reported in the literature, although they have never been released
for general use. One of these systems is the electronic probe described by Jeffcoat et
a1 39,40 (the Foster Miller probe), capable of coupling pocket depth measurement
with the detection of the cemento enamel junction from which the clinical attachment
level is automatically detected Researchers at the University of Toronto have also
described a probe the Toronto Automated probe that like the Florida probe, uses the
occlusal incisal surface to measure relative clinical attachment levels. The sulcus is
probed with a 0.5 mm nickel titanium wire that is extended under air pressure. It
controls angular discrepancies by means of a mercury tilt sensor that limits angulation
within В±30 degrees, but it requires reproducible positioning of the patient s head and
cannot easily measure second or third molars The measurement of clinical attachment
levels has traditionally been used in the diagnosis of periodontitis however, this
measurement only reflects the history of past disease and does not assess current or
future disease activity. The most practical method of determining that disease is
progressing (active) is the demonstration that significant loss of attachment has
occurred over time. To detect progression of periodontal disease over a short perio
The United States Involvement Of The Spanish American
War
During the twentieth century the United States of America became involved with
three major conflicts that resulted in the nation shifting from a regional power into a
global power. Through these conflicts the United States grew territorially,
economically and industrially. Foreign policies were altered to allow the United States
to gain ground on the world stage and to make their mark on the world. Through
careful analysis of primary sources and scholarly document s it is clear to see that
the United States involvement in the Spanish American war was the first step for the
United States to grow on the world stage. The American victory in the war led to the
acquisition of island territories and expanded economic and military capabilities in
the both the western and eastern hemisphere as well as an increased involvement in
Asia. World War I
ended with American democratic ideals to be spread all across
Europe. Led by President Woodrow Wilson, the United States led a one sided
foreign policy that used intervention, peace treaties and military intervention to
endorse international order. Despite a limited role in the war President Wilson was
able to outline the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations and both of their
presences can be found today.
During the1890s, the United States showed little interest in foreign affairs. However,
following the rise of the industrial revolution in the United States American business
began to recognize the vast potential of the

Ericsson and Charness (1994, p. 525), postulated that, Recent research has shown that
expert performance is predominantly mediated by acquired complex skills and
physiological adaptations. Attaining expertise is achieved through the development
of skills and comprises three stages which are the cognitive, associative, and the
autonomous.
Cognitive Stage The cognitive development stage of attaining expertise is the first
stage in which the individual develops what is call declarative encoding of the skill
in which a set of facts relevant to the skill is commit to memory (Anderson, 2010).
The learner will rehearse the facts as they perform the skills, for example, a child is
learning to ride a bike he or she will rehearse the steps as the skill is perform. So the
child will remember where the pedal is, learn how to hold to the handle, learn to
balance, and learn to pedal and these steps become the set of problem solving to
ride the bike. Basically the child or learner is trying to figure out what needs to be
done and the actions here are usually controlled in a conscious way. Learners also
experiment with strategies in order to figure out the ones that work and the ones
that does not. This knowledge that is acquired is in the declarative stage because
the child s performance cannot be called skilled. The child recalls facts about the
skill of riding as he or she tries to ride the bike and pay attention in a step by step

into four sections. In the middle of each section we would put an antibiotic disc.
After all four of the antibiotics were placed in each dish with tweezers, they were
incubated overnight. The next day, we measured the zone of inhabitance around
each antibiotic disc. I had two statements in my hypothesis. If S. epi is gram
positive, then penicillin, streptomycin, and tetracycline will be effective on it
because each one reacts with gram positive bacteria. If E. coli is gram negative,
then streptomycin and tetracycline will be effective on it because each one reacts
with gram positive bacteria. I reject the first statement in my hypothesis because
only one of the antibiotics was susceptible on s. epi, while the others were
resistant. I accept my second hypothesis because both streptomycin and tetracycline
were susceptible on the e. coli bacteria. We can relate this experiment to the outside

The relationship between the government and the governed has been tested
throughout American history. As people from all walks of life come together under
centralized authority, the importance of employing the power that one voice can
hold is observed. These truths are depicted in The Grapes of Wrath by John
Steinbeck and Civil Disobedienceby Henry David Thoreau, where the role of the
individual in shaping the governmentis closely examined. Steinbeck and Thoreau both
emphasize the necessity for citizens to combat injustice in their literary works, but
they differ in the extent of influence that the government should be granted. While
Steinbeck portrays the government as a wicked institution, Thoreau delves into

Steinbeck s idea of government can be compared to Thoreau s beliefs through their
thoughts on the responsibility of the citizen, function of government, and need to
uphold justice. Steinbeck and Thoreau both recognize the responsibility the citizen
has in influencing the government to create the society he or she wants to live in.
Far too often, this duty is neglected because of how vulnerable one man can seem
against the government. In The Grapes of Wrath, the migrant workers are constantly
being taken advantage of while they struggle to remember their roots. They can only
find solace in each other as they learn the technique of building worlds within their
communities because it is the only way they can survive (Steinbeck 131). The
solidarity that these migrant workers possess is the spirit of Steinbeck s philosophy
on how much impact citizens have. If just one man can realize the potential within
himself, this spark will spread until there is a movement. Steinbeck underscores how
crucial the role of the individual in creating a better society through displaying the
close relations between these migrant workers. It goes to display the victory

A Successful Reintegration Of A Rehabilitated Offender

of a rehabilitated offender. To have a successful reentry the offender is offered thru
their Correctional Facility the following: Employment, Family Support, Financial
Stability, Involvement in substance abuse programs, and Stabilization of any mental

Reintegration is offered to those individuals who are offered Parole. As we all know
Parole is the conditional release of a person prior to the end of the maximum

system is used to reward well behaved inmates who shows signs of rehabilitation,
and for those who show signs that they can practice good behavior when socializing

programs offered by institution where you are serving out your time. Such programs
include obtaining a GED, being of trustee status which means you are an inmate that
shows capability of cleaning up after others; your peers. In order for Parolees to have
a successful integration On April 9, 2008, the Second Chance Act was signed into
law. The purpose of this act was to improve outcomes for people returning to
communities from prisons, jails, and juvenile s detention facilities. This federal

Different Types of Tears During Shoulder Dislocation Essay
With all of the tears, the first type of tear is one where the labrum is torn all of the
way off of the bone. This type of tear usually correlates with an injury to the shoulder
where the shoulder has subluxated or dislocated. Sometimes, this tear occurs and the
individual does not realize that the shoulderhas slid out of the socket. This can make it
much worse and cause other types of injuries to the ligaments around the shoulder.
The second type of labrum tear is tearing within the actual labrum. The sides of the
labrum after a while may get frayed, meaning a slight tear where the labrum slowly
starts to unravel like yarn, so that the edge is no longer even and smooth. This type
of tearing is proven to be pretty common and rarely ... Show more content on

All of the different tears have the same symptoms for the most part, as I explained
before. There are many different sports that one can find this injury in, especially
when it is located in the shoulder. Sports such as baseball, softball, tennis, football,
frisbee, basketball and even hockey are just some of the many sports that doctors
have found this injury to be common in. This past year, a boy on my brothers
hockey team tore his shoulder labrum at the beginning of the hockey season. He
was not able to practice, nor play in games during this time. Surgery for his injury
was performed in November, just as the hockey season was kicking off. His
recovery is expected to take about 6 months because of the severity of the injury.
He was originally in a sling for the first month. Doctors protocol had him icing
everyday for at least two hours for the first month after surgery as well. Once
swelling began to go down, he began physical therapy. Currently, he s not allowed
to lift more than 20 pounds. Physical therapy is going really well and he is already
supposed to shorten his expected recovery time. He should be back in for this
upcoming season.
There are a very small amount of easy treatments possible for this injury. Depending
on the type of labral tear and intensity of symptoms, one may need surgery. Most
tears, both shoulder and hip, do not depend upon surgery, but patients that obtain
Writing Style Essays
Writing Style
What is writing style? I started out thinking that writing style is a personal thing and
that all writers have their own style. But, this way of thinking is really just a simple
way to answer the question. After more careful thought, I realized that style is
actually quite the opposite of personal and original. Style is a form of standardization.
As writers, we all follow certain rules and guidelines to make our point. Style is these
rules and guidelines.
For a writer to better understand style, multitudes of books and helpful guides have
been published. Many are written as lists of rules about word choice, constructions to

I believe this to be a common mistake. Strunk and White refer to this usage as the
serial comma. The only time they believe it is acceptable to not follow this rule is in
the case of a business or a firm containing three or more names. Often the second
comma will be omitted.
Another very important rule dealing with commas is rule number 4, place a comma
before a conjunction introducing an independent clause (Strunk and White, 5). This
rule not only points out the proper place to put a comma, but also the fact that there
are two part sentences. Some writers tend to put a period where a comma should be
placed, maybe because they are uncomfortable with where to put the comma. An
example of proper comma usage in this case would be
The early records of the city have disappeared, and the story of its first years can no
longer be reconstructed (Strunk and White, 5).
Relatinging back to breaking a two part sentence into two sentences is rule number
six. One should be careful to not place a period where a comma should be.
I met them on a Cunard Liner many years ago. Coming home from Liverpool to New
York (Strunk and White, 7).
In this example, the first period should really be a comma.
An additional and significant rule to writing is the usage of the he/she pronoun. This
is mentioned in both books, yet the proper usages described differ from one another.
In the original copy by Strunk he feels that he is the only correct pronoun.

A Comparison of the Knight and the Squire in Chaucer s
the...
In the medieval period that is described by Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, chivalry was
perhaps the most recognized quality of a true gentleman. This quality is explored in
Chaucer s two characters of the warrior class, the Knight and the Squire. The squire is
the son of the Knight; both ride gallantly and have the air of true gentleman warriors.
However, the two are very dissimilar despite their appearances. The Knight possesses
the true qualities of chivalry, devotion to service, constancy in humility, and honesty.
The Squire possesses none of these qualities truly; instead his demeanor is one that is
less honorable and virtuous. Although both claim the same vocation, the Squire and
the Knight display contradicting attitudes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Knight s manner of speech also supports this: And though so much
distinguished, he was wise And in his bearing as modest as a maid. He never yet a
boorish thing had said In all his life to any, come what might; He was a true, a
perfect gentle knight. (5) Chaucer already summarizes the characteristics of the
Knight as making up a perfect gentle knight , and the many tales of courage add more
credibility to Chaucer s summary. The knight s behavior was as modest as a maid (5).
This is contrary to the lad of fire and although the Squire had wonderful strength and
agility , he did not use it to the full extent that his father used his own. In all aspects,
in comparison with his own contradictory behavior, and in comparison with the
Knight s behavior, the Squire is shown to be less than sincere in his chivalry. The
Knight and the Squire have distinctly different attitudes towards their vocation. As a
result, they are complementing images of the medieval warrior. The Knight is the
romantic image that all true knights aspire to, generously practicing such chivalrous
qualities as dedication, humility, and sincerity. Contrasting this, however, is the
image depicted by the Squire, that of an imperfect knight who was to some degree
boastful, lusting, or superficial. The Squire was never directly criticized by Chaucer,
but the implications that resulted from the description amounted to an extravagant,
un chivalrous
Difference in Societies of New England and Chesapeake...
Although New England and the Chesapeake region were both settled largely by
people of English origin, by 1700 the regions had evolved into two different societies,
why did this difference in development occur?
For different reasons, settlers chose to inhabit the regions of New England and
Chesapeake. The social economic and political reasons separated these groups. This
was mostly because of the different founding purposes; New England being founded
on religous values and the Chesapake being founded for financial reasons by Joint
Stock companies. Although settled largely by people of the English origin, the
regions of the east cost had evolved into two different societies by 1700. The push

Often the settlers lived to their twenties, but not much longer. In the parallel New
England individualists were rare. Families, children and even grandparents
inhbited New England. The settlers brought over were educated professionals and
skilled workers. In Chesapeake people had to be constantly sent over to keep the
population up and the colony successful but in New England educated traits were
passed down in families so their population grew successfully. New England s
population was not very diverse though, and also did not have many slaves.
Combining the different reasons the settlers came to Chesapeake and New England
and the types of people they were results to the societies that were constructed in
these colonies. Chesapeake was agriculturally driven while New England on the
contrary had commerce and was much more business like. Chesapeake also had a
few varieties in the levels of society. Small farmers held most of the population, then
there are the landless whites, great farmers, indentured servents and slaves. Because
of the little amount of women until the 17th century, Chesapeake had very weak
family ties. One in three brides were already pregnant! In New England marriage
was an extremely important key to their society. Their orderly society was based on
religion, but was not very tolerant. The Congregational Church could be found here
along witht the General Court. Agriculture was not used much at all in this colony.

At the very end of the book after all the struggling they had been through, it ends
with hope. The Joad s find a barn to stay in because their boxcar was beginning to
flood. There was a starving old man in the barn and Rose of Sharon Brest feeds
him. Another theme in the Grapes of Wrath is keeping your dignity in the midst of
Wrath. Along the journey to California and even once they arrived they had a lot
of unhappiness which turns into wrath. They always had to worry about did they
have enough money. Was that money going to last them to buy the food that they
needed. The Joad s also had to worry about did they have some where to live and a
job. They had jobs but none of them knew how long that job was going to last, once
the job was done they were out of work. Many families were angry because they
were so full of wrath but the Joad s keep their dignity throughout all their struggles.
Near the end of the book women watched their families work and they truly thought
that all of their self respect came from if their husbands had wrath. The women
thought they would remain strong as long as they had wrath. At the very end of the
book is where the Joad s dignity even though they had had so many bad experiences
shines through. Three member of the group had dropped out, Rose of Sharon give
birth to a dead baby, and no one had a job but still they let kindness show through
them. Rose of Sharon Breast feeds the old starving man.

ECONOMIC PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH PETROLEUM EXPLORATION
AND PRODUCTION ACTIVITIES
Petroleum E P Activities are characterized by all forms of environmental impacts at
different levels of its operations ranging from exploration, development and
production, transportation and distribution, marketing, decommissioning and
rehabilitation. At the exploration phase, there are the disturbances of forest and
ground surface from related activities such as site clearance, construction of roads,
tank farms, brine pits and pipelines and other land modifications necessary for the
drilling of exploration and production wells and construction of production facilities
(Kharaka and Dorsey 2005). According to Christen (2004) some of the environmental
problems associated with petroleum E P activities include oil spills, gas flaring and
venting, discharges of petroleum derived chemicals wastes, contamination of
controlled water sources, contamination of soil and sediments, the destruction of the
farmland and the marine environment. The major environmental issues arose
primarily from the improper disposal of large volumes of petroleum derived
hazardous waste streams, such as oil and toxic sludge (Eweje, 2006 and Aniefiok et
al 2013), equipment failure, oil spills/operational discharges and sabotage of
petroleum facilities (Asthana and Asthane 2003). All these have grave effects on all
aspects of the environmental media, creating lots of
Who Was Aaron Copland An American Composer
My composer that was given to me was Aaron Copland. Aaron Copland is an
American composer, writer, and later in his career a conductor of his own and
other American music. He was instrumental in forging a distinctly American style
of composition, and is often referred to as The Dean of American Composers . He
was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 14, 1900. He was the youngest of
five children whom are Ralph, Leon, Laurine, and Joesephine. Him and his siblings
spent their childhood living above his parents department store. He developed an
interest in the piano, receiving guidance from his older sister; Laurine. She also
introduced him to Ragtime and Opera. His parents were Sarah Mittenthal Copland
and Harris Morris Copland whom were
Four Pillars Of Four As A Non-Commissioned Officer
Four Pillars make up my leadership philosophy, I will show how I incorporate all four
as a Non Commissioned Officer (NCO). These four pillars; patience, mentorship,
communication, and flexibility, make up my leadership philosophy. Practice patience
with myself, and my Soldiers. Provide mentorship through leading by example. Give
constant and consistent communication. Be flexible with the ability to change and
adapt. The hinge pin on which my leadershipphilosophy relies, is patience. I could
not be a mentor without patience. The ability to communicate patiently and openly to
ensure that my Soldiers understand, allows me to develop and mold them into future
NCOs. Furthermore, without patience with myself, I lack flexibility. I would not
Reasons Why Motorola s Fundamentals Are Strong And
Why...
This memo will outline the reasons why Motorola s fundamentals are strong and
why PricewaterhouseCoopers should consider their investment opportunity. I
utilized the 4+2 company evaluation method from the Harvard Business Review
article, What Really Works. I conclude from my review that two out of four
primary indicators I determined as healthy , two out of four for the secondary, and
one out of two for the additional categories. This does not fulfill the 4+2 winner
system. Although I can t classify this as a winner I do consider Motorola to
definitely be a climber. This system considers four primary and four secondary
factors that indicate the overall health of a company. Please review the information
below and be ready to meet and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Motorola must innovate current technology to keep users connected beyond their
phones and to other applications as well. In other words, for Motorola to win the
game, perhaps they have to change the rules of the trade (in terms of innovative
technology such as Snapchat and Facebook). Motorola is extremely focused on
their own research and development and place a large emphasis on the importance
of innovation. Strong liquidity within the company proves to be a large advantage
for Motorola compared to its less so liquid competitors. Companies with cash flow
problems tend to have many difficulties while operating within day to day business
activities. Execution Motorola passes this requirement with flying colors. Employees
rely on their ability to effectively and efficiently execute consistent business
practices. Many municipalities and disaster relief efforts use Motorola s hardware
and software technology as a foundation for their own practices and work. Chad
Werkema emphasized in a video interview that Motorola s current supply chain
execution within the company is the underlying driver of their continued success,
Execution, it s just that plain simple, our customers rely on us . He further stressed
the importance of timing and delivery; disasters need immediate relief, simply put.
Motorola may be widely known among Americans as
Modern Day Commercial Firms Have A System Of
Computer...
Background to the Study Many modern day commercial firms have a system of
computer based network to track the activities of their employees at the workplace.
Employers can track the emailing and browsing history alongside any other activity
carried out by an employee using computers even if they clear the history (Reynolds,
2011). Companies are on the run to come up with strict policies to track the use of the
computers among employees. Some firms argue that computerbased monitoring is
important although it is quite expensive to install and maintain (Hugl, 2013).
The fact that the internet is becoming one of the major business components, it has
become critical for firms to monitor how employees use it. Research indicates that a
larger percentage of employers monitor how their employees use the internet while at
work. Over the last one decade, the percentages of employers who have restricted
their employees access to the company website have increased significantly. They
prefer computer based monitoring arguing that computers can handle a large volume
of data. Cangemi (2012) adds CM systems use automated advanced analytics to sift
through the large volumes of structured data, such as financial transactions, that
comprise a large part of their big data (p. 35). According to them, computer
monitoring has become critical to reduce cases of critical information from the
company leaking to unwanted third parties (Lyon, 2008). The rise of the internet has
brought a chain of

The year of 2045, our journey has started. Hundred and one. That s the number of
people who were allowed for this trip. The beginning of our journey was not so
pleasant. It was more like forced. It was all started from the gigantic space rock
passing by coincidently decided to fly into the trajectory of the Earth in 2045.
Luckily, this was not too bad. Why? NASA s top secret project to space travel site
was on the other side of the Earth. If you are wondering why this project was done
in private, the answer to it is that NASA has anticipated this huge space rock was
going to hit the Earth long long time ago. Also, with the technology we have, it was
quite obvious that the Earth would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

we needed to start with. After we use the dark energy system to speed up the
spaceship. Before 2045, the fuel source was the only problem that we could not
solve. Eating, radiation, time, and etcetera we have found solutions to these
problems we had to deal with in order to travel successfully. First, food problem
was solved by the encapsulating nutritions required for us to live. All the food we
used to consume was substituted by this capsule. Each day we just need to take one
food capsule. Because of the procedure to make this capsule was so easy from the
new environment tolerant plant, which could extract all nutrition we need off it.
With high regeneration cell rate of the plant, even though we extract nutritions out of
it, it regenerate back quickly. From this discovery, almost unlimited food source was
possible. With the food problem, water which is must have source for us to live,
cannot be excluded. With water, not only the source for us to
Applying Ball State University As An Example
Attending college is just another step in life that will benefit you in the long run.
Growing up in the U.S. we have been naturalized into following key steps, that are
necessary to ones success. Leaving college to be one of the last barriers an
individual must accomplish in order to become what society deems as successful.
Using Ball State Universityas an example we will be discussing these three primary
objectives, education, service, and research. In addition to identify who they serve as
far as their fellow students and the general public. Lastly we will be discussing any
adjustments to the publicness if the organization. A major primary objective Ball

Whether it s the cost of your course materials, living expenses, or tuition it all ends
up affecting your performance in school. College can become very pricy, and looking
for ways to stay out of debt can be stressful. However Ball State happens to offer
over 500 scholarships for incoming students, 329 on campus employers, and every
four out of five students receive merit based financial aid. In fact a student at Ball
State on average only borrows $27,000 in loans compared to $35,000 an average
student in the U.S. may borrow. While ultimately the main goal of a college
university is to recruit more students and increase their current knowledge. Many
universities focus on other aspects such as research development. Ball State
happens to encourage students and faculty to bring forth any research ideas they
may have. Two programs called Sponsored Projects Administration and Ball State
Innovation Corporation (BSIC), is meant for finding and funding new research
opportunities, in attempt of educating others. The Rivers of Research is apart of an
ongoing research program that is examining how we as human beings affect watery
ecosystems. This program was developed by Mark Pyron who is a biology professor
at Ball State. Mr.Pyron is focused on discovering the influences humans have on
potential public drinking waterways within America, since a third of the U.S.
consumes their water from river banks.
The Coca Cola Company
Introduction
We all have our idols that aspire and hope to emulate, for example Sachin Tendulkar,
Sourav Ganguly, Wayne Rooney, Aamir Khan etc. the list is endless. All these
prominent and great personalities have endorsed a company and a brand which
stands for what these celebrities symbolise which success, greatness in their
respective fields. The Coca Cola Company signifies all these qualities and I wish to
work in such a company one day.

The company is best known for its flagship product Coca Cola, invented in 1886 by

and brand was bought in 1889 by Asa Griggs Candler, who incorporated The Coca
Cola Company in 1892. The company operates a franchised distribution system
dating from 1889 where The Coca Cola Company only produces syrup concentrate
which is then sold to various bottlers throughout the world who hold an exclusive
territory. The Coca Cola Company owns its anchor bottler in North America, Coca
Cola Refreshments.

Essay On Man s Search For Meaning
A prominent quote in the bible comes from John 8:13 and states, The truth will set
you free . According to this, knowing the truth will free one from the prison of
falsehood, and yet the truth is often accompanied by some form of suffering.
Knowing the truth will free someone from the lie they are living, but it may not be
a life they wish to be freed from. In difficult situations, people often rely on illusion
and live in denial as a way to survive, due to the truthbeing too difficult to accept. In
order to find meaning in one s life while suffering or experiencing a difficult
situation, meaning is often found in illusions and false hoods, rather than in reality.

Illusion, it seemed, was the best remedy to survive the horrors of the camps.
Frankl used this illusion to ignore the reality of what he was suffering from in
order to find meaning and be able to survive. If one were to fixate on the horrors of
the reality he was living, he would be unable to see a future outside the camp and
therefore a reason to live, ultimately resulting in his demise.
The idea of using illusion to escape the horrors of reality is depicted by Cypher in
The Matrix. Cypher had been awoken by Morpheus and reborn into the real world
outside the Matrix. In the movie Cypher is seen at dinner with Agent Smith, and
describes to the agent that ... I know this steak doesn t exist. I know when I put it in
my mouth; the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy, and delicious. After nine
years.. you know what I realize? Ignorance is bliss (Wachowski, The Matrix). This is
Cypher s justification for betraying his friends and helping the agents protect the
Matrix against Morpheus and his allies. Cypher was disgusted by the nature of reality
in comparison to the blissful illusion that the Matrix provided, and he was desperate
to return to that. Because of this, Cypher, during a mission, separated himself from
the others in the Matrix and returned to reality, shooting Tank and then unplugging
Apoc and Switch to kill them. As he attempted to kill neo, Tank regained
consciousness and stopped Cypher
Sourcing Strategy For Ikea Company
5)Sourcing Global sourcing is an important sourcing strategy for IKEA Company.
According to Hultman, Hertz and Johnsen (2012), in 2008, IKEA has 54 different
sourcing countries and 30 purchasing departments which were located all over the
world. With the expansion of its market, IKEA was not satisfied with selling its
product only in domestic and Nordic market instead it put its higher goal in global
market. Therefore the sourcing market also expanded with the growing market.
There were 64% of its products were sourced from European countries which were
mainly in eastern part like Czechoslovakia, Rumania and Hungary; China with a
22% share of the supply was the largest single supply market, and Poland with a 16%
share (IKEA 2007). However, IKEA also trades off the cost of raw materials and cost
of transportation, hence IKEA combined the Global sourcing with local sourcing
strategy to lower the total cost. Example of sliding doors of PAX wardrobe Table

doors for the PAX wardrobe system in 2009. IKEA s products like the PAX
wardrobe, the BILLY bookshelf, the LACK table and the SULTAN bed, sold in
IKEA store are to a large scale sourced from a global network of suppliers. To take the
sliding doors of PAX wardrobe as an example, IKEA just sourced different parts of
the door form different countries but within consideration of total cost. Table 1 shows

Essays On People Writing an essay on the topic "Essays On People" is a challenging endeavor that requires a deep understanding of human nature, diverse perspectives, and the ability to weave a compelling narrative. The complexity lies not only in the diversity of people and their experiences but also in capturing the essence of humanity in a coherent and engaging manner. One of the difficulties in tackling this topic is the vast scope it encompasses. People are multifaceted beings with varied backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and behaviors. Attempting to encapsulate the richness of human existence within the confines of an essay requires careful consideration of what to include and what to omit. Striking a balance between breadth and depth is a constant challenge. Moreover, the challenge extends to avoiding stereotypes and generalizations. Each person is unique, and any attempt to categorize individuals into broad stereotypes risks oversimplifying the intricacies of human identity. Navigating this delicate balance demands a nuanced approach to ensure a fair representation of the diversity within the human experience. Additionally, the emotional and ethical dimensions of discussing people in an essay present another layer of difficulty. Addressing sensitive topics, such as race, gender, or socio-economic disparities, requires a thoughtful and empathetic approach. Balancing objectivity with empathy is a tightrope walk, as the writer must avoid both detachment and over-identification. Furthermore, the evolving nature of society poses a challenge in keeping the content relevant and up-to-date. People and their stories are continuously shaped by cultural shifts, technological advancements, and global events. Staying current while maintaining the timeless aspects of the essay adds an extra layer of complexity to the writing process. In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic "Essays On People" is an intricate task that demands a combination of research, empathy, and literary finesse. It requires a writer to navigate the vast landscape of human experiences while avoiding pitfalls such as generalizations, stereotypes, and ethical concerns. He portrays the Society as being more politically powerful than Nash, and that by Nixon denouncing them during his 1962 gubernatorial campaign in California, he alienated many influential grass roots conservatives, which was part of the reason for his loss. Mulloy makes it seem as if Goldwater could have denounced the Society and distanced himself from extremist elements of the party, but partially because of their power and influence at the time, he was afraid of losing their support. Mulloy believes that the society played an essential role in the revitalization of conservatism, and agrees with Nash they were pushed from the political mainstream by people like Buckley, however unlike Nash, he also believes that they still held considerable influence on the political fringe and that many of their ideas still reflected those of many Americans even after 1964. Even without mainstream support, Mulloy shows that they still provided a vocal minority in the resistance to communism and the radical New Left of the era. Mulloy sees the John Birch Society as going through a slow decline after Goldwater s defeat and that into 1967 and 1968 especially, they lost much of their appeal by continually becoming more and more conspiratorial, eventually even embracing the long paranoid tradition of the Illuminati

God was not weary from the act of creation, and oversaw all that he had created, rather. This could be seen as part of the belief in Islam that the Koran is a correction to the previous religions of Judaism and Christianity, and that the holy scriptures were somehow corrupted in their present form. In the Western tradition, primarily in the United States where Christianity prevails, the story of creation from Genesis is held in high regard, and controversies have erupted disputing whether or not its fundamentals should be taught in school. The founding of this nation through the Constitution was erected with the belief of separation of church and state. In the conservative 1920s, a huge court case erupted from the dispute between the Christian creationism and the scientific founding of Charles Darwin s evolution. The Scopes Monkey trial of 1925 saw a schoolteacher found guilty of teaching evolution in the classroom, a theory that flabbergasted fundamentalist Christians who perceived it ludicrous that humans could have descended from monkeys. The narrative tradition of the Genesis creation was evidently a central issue for Americans and typified the Christian identity in the U.S. at a time when modernism was emerging, as the fourteen states had anti Evolution statutes. • 18. The Importance Of Merit Pay In the Merriam Webster s dictionary, a teacher is defined as one that teaches; especially: one whose occupation is to instruct. Teachers are people who decide to teach students, as a career. There is no such thing as a bad teacher, just poor quality teaching. So why are teachers so resentful with their job if they chose that job to begin with? There can be various factors that contribute to the lack of motivation that teachers may have. To increase motivation an incentive was created and applied in the early 1980s (Podgursky) which was the merit pay. There have been studies on whether this incentive is effective. Students around the country are still receiving poor quality education. Being a future educator, I believe that there is a better way to raise pay for teachers because merit pay is unfair. Although some advocators for merit pay suggest that this method will provide a goal for teachers to effectively teach, they have not considered various factors such as the students, their environment and what they learn apart from schoollessons. Merit pay is an unfair incentive that will not take into consideration what teachers teach apart from lesson plans, lead to a more strict approach a new curriculum, and create a hostile environment for teachers and their students. Cognitive Stage The cognitive development stage of attaining expertise is the first stage in which the individual develops what is call declarative encoding of the skill in which a set of facts relevant to the skill is commit to memory (Anderson, 2010). This can make it much worse and cause other types of injuries to the ligaments around the shoulder. The second type of labrum tear is tearing within the actual labrum. The sides of the labrum after a while may get frayed, meaning a slight tear where the labrum slowly starts to unravel like yarn, so that the edge is no longer even and smooth. There are many different sports that one can find this injury in, especially when it is located in the shoulder. Sports such as baseball, softball, tennis, football, frisbee, basketball and even hockey are just some of the many sports that doctors have found this injury to be common in. This past year, a boy on my brothers hockey team tore his shoulder labrum at the beginning of the hockey season. He was not able to practice, nor play in games during this time. Surgery for his injury was performed in November, just as the hockey season was kicking off. His recovery is expected to take about 6 months because of the severity of the injury. He was originally in a sling for the first month. Doctors protocol had him icing everyday for at least two hours for the first month after surgery as well. Once swelling began to go down, he began physical therapy. Currently, he s not allowed to lift more than 20 pounds. Physical therapy is going really well and he is already supposed to shorten his expected recovery time. He should be back in for this upcoming season. There are a very small amount of easy treatments possible for this injury. Depending on the type of labral tear and intensity of symptoms, one may need surgery. Most tears, both shoulder and hip, do not depend upon surgery, but patients that obtain
  • 36. Writing Style Essays Writing Style What is writing style? I started out thinking that writing style is a personal thing and that all writers have their own style. But, this way of thinking is really just a simple way to answer the question. After more careful thought, I realized that style is actually quite the opposite of personal and original. Style is a form of standardization. As writers, we all follow certain rules and guidelines to make our point. Style is these rules and guidelines. For a writer to better understand style, multitudes of books and helpful guides have been published. Many are written as lists of rules about word choice, constructions to avoid, common stylistic traps, and other such things. One of these is The Elements of Style by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe this to be a common mistake. Strunk and White refer to this usage as the serial comma. The only time they believe it is acceptable to not follow this rule is in the case of a business or a firm containing three or more names. Often the second comma will be omitted. Another very important rule dealing with commas is rule number 4, place a comma before a conjunction introducing an independent clause (Strunk and White, 5). This rule not only points out the proper place to put a comma, but also the fact that there are two part sentences. Some writers tend to put a period where a comma should be placed, maybe because they are uncomfortable with where to put the comma. An example of proper comma usage in this case would be The early records of the city have disappeared, and the story of its first years can no longer be reconstructed (Strunk and White, 5). Relatinging back to breaking a two part sentence into two sentences is rule number six. One should be careful to not place a period where a comma should be. I met them on a Cunard Liner many years ago. Coming home from Liverpool to New York (Strunk and White, 7). In this example, the first period should really be a comma. An additional and significant rule to writing is the usage of the he/she pronoun. This is mentioned in both books, yet the proper usages described differ from one another. In the original copy by Strunk he feels that he is the only correct pronoun.

  • 39. A Comparison of the Knight and the Squire in Chaucer s the... In the medieval period that is described by Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, chivalry was perhaps the most recognized quality of a true gentleman. This quality is explored in Chaucer s two characters of the warrior class, the Knight and the Squire. The squire is the son of the Knight; both ride gallantly and have the air of true gentleman warriors. However, the two are very dissimilar despite their appearances. The Knight possesses the true qualities of chivalry, devotion to service, constancy in humility, and honesty. The Squire possesses none of these qualities truly; instead his demeanor is one that is less honorable and virtuous. Although both claim the same vocation, the Squire and the Knight display contradicting attitudes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Knight s manner of speech also supports this: And though so much distinguished, he was wise And in his bearing as modest as a maid. He never yet a boorish thing had said In all his life to any, come what might; He was a true, a perfect gentle knight. (5) Chaucer already summarizes the characteristics of the Knight as making up a perfect gentle knight , and the many tales of courage add more credibility to Chaucer s summary. The knight s behavior was as modest as a maid (5). This is contrary to the lad of fire and although the Squire had wonderful strength and agility , he did not use it to the full extent that his father used his own. In all aspects, in comparison with his own contradictory behavior, and in comparison with the Knight s behavior, the Squire is shown to be less than sincere in his chivalry. The Knight and the Squire have distinctly different attitudes towards their vocation. As a result, they are complementing images of the medieval warrior. The Knight is the romantic image that all true knights aspire to, generously practicing such chivalrous qualities as dedication, humility, and sincerity. Contrasting this, however, is the image depicted by the Squire, that of an imperfect knight who was to some degree boastful, lusting, or superficial. The Squire was never directly criticized by Chaucer, but the implications that resulted from the description amounted to an extravagant, un chivalrous

Background to the Study Many modern day commercial firms have a system of computer based network to track the activities of their employees at the workplace. Employers can track the emailing and browsing history alongside any other activity carried out by an employee using computers even if they clear the history (Reynolds, 2011). Companies are on the run to come up with strict policies to track the use of the computers among employees. Some firms argue that computerbased monitoring is important although it is quite expensive to install and maintain (Hugl, 2013). The fact that the internet is becoming one of the major business components, it has become critical for firms to monitor how employees use it. Research indicates that a larger percentage of employers monitor how their employees use the internet while at work. Over the last one decade, the percentages of employers who have restricted their employees access to the company website have increased significantly. They prefer computer based monitoring arguing that computers can handle a large volume of data. Cangemi (2012) adds CM systems use automated advanced analytics to sift through the large volumes of structured data, such as financial transactions, that comprise a large part of their big data (p. 35).
