Free Throw Shot Analysis
This I Believe
I believe that a lot of practice and hard work and practice, you can make it
anywhere you want to go. For instance one basketball game that I remember real
well is the time that I was on the free throw line and the we were up by two points
with ten seconds left, and if I did not make this shot I knew that the other team could
drive down the court and shoot a three pointer and win the game. So i went up to the
free throw line not knowing if I was going to make this shot or not. When I shot the
free throw I could tell that it was going to hit the back of the rim. And guess what, it
did, and to make it even worse the other team got the rebound and drove down the
court and made a layup. After one of my teammates threw the ball in
The Causes Of Gas Exchange

Gas exchange
Gas Exchange

Gas Exchange
Gas exchange is defined as the process by which oxygen is transported to cells and
carbon dioxide is transported from cells (Giddens, 2013, p.161). Gas exchange in the
human body occurs in the lungs and as the primary function of the respiratory
system, it exchanges two gases, oxygen and carbon dioxide. The process of gas
exchange happens as we breathe through ventilation, transport and perfusion. As you
inhale oxygen, the oxygen travels deep into the lungs until it reaches the alveoli.
Here in the alveoli oxygen and carbon dioxide diffuse across the alveolar capillary
membrane. Oxygen is able to enter into the blood while carbon dioxide is leaving
the blood as waste to be exhaled from the lungs and out of the body. This
oxygenated blood is then transported throughout the body. All cells depend on a
consistent supply of oxygen and removal of waste in order to survive. A reduction
or lack of oxygen and/or buildup of waste leads to demise. For this reason, gas
exchange is critical. Gas exchange is compromised when there is impairment of
ventilation, altered transport of oxygen, or inadequate perfusion. Impaired ventilation
may occur in conditions such as inadequate muscle or nerve function to move air into
the lungs, such as cervical spinal cord injury; narrowed airways from
bronchoconstriction like in asthma, or from obstruction like in chronic bronchitis;
poor gas diffusion in
Reasons Why It s Worth Investing In Dental Implants
Why It s Worth Investing In Dental Implants
If you are looking to replace teeth that are missing, you ll have several methods at
your disposal to fix it. Unfortunately, many people decide to use dentures or bridges
instead of using a dental implant made out of titanium. Implants can be viewed as a
luxury tooth replacement option, but that should not stop you from getting them. The
dental implant procedure will cost more money than traditional procedures, but the
result will be much better for you in several ways. Consider these 4 reasons why it s
worth investing in a dental implant to fix your missing teeth.
Dental Implants Will Last A Long Time
Traditional methods, like dentures and bridges, can require replacement or repair
every few years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The post permanently fuses with the bone that surrounds the post, and causes the
implant to be secure. The bond helps you avoid dealing with things like adhesives or
re adjustments, and gives you more confidence when speaking and eating since an
implant won t slip out of place.
Dental Implants Don t Require Special Cleaning
The problem with dentures is that you must remove them to give them a good
cleaning, and it requires using a special kind of denture cleaner to do it. If you do not
follow the specific cleaning instructions outlined by your dentist, it can result in the
dentures having an odor. The great thing about dental implants is that there are no
special cleaning instructions. You simply brush them as if they are completely
natural teeth. The tooth may be fake, but cleaning them is essential to maintain
healthy gums that hold the implant in place.
Dental Implants Will Preserve Your Surrounding Teeth
The biggest benefit of having a dental implant is that the titanium post helps stimulate
your gums just like a natural tooth. This does not happen with dentures or bridges.
Without the stimulation, the gums start to lose their strength, which can affect the
teeth that surround the gap. An implant will help prevent bone loss from occurring in
that area, keeping the surrounding teeth
The Importance Of A Quality Project At An Early Stage
Essay
Briefing is the process by which a client informs others of his or her needs,
aspirations and desires, either informally or formally, and a brief is a formal
document which sets out a client s requirements in detail (CIB, 1999, p.5). As OP
has a vast amount of experience of erecting towers in Toronto they should be more
than capable of outlining their explicit requirements accurately in a project brief.
They will also be well aware that any changes during detailed design, or even worse
during construction, could have a detrimental effect on the project, possibly
extending the project competition date or even requiring a revised planning
application and will almost certainly carry an extra cost (see Figure 2). Figure 2:
Changes during later stages of the project are likely to be more costly than at the
outset. (CIB, 1999, p.8). This being said, OP must realise the importance of
supplying a quality project brief to their consultants at an early stage. This will
require them to commit a lot of upfront resources to the project to ensure the design
matches the client s vision. The process will begin with a statement of need , which
will outline vaguely the aims and objectives of the project. For example, OP would
have outlined at this stage their desire to construct a tower in the heart of Toronto s
financial district. They may have approached the market with the opportunity to
tenant the property. The statement of need is then developed through to a strategic
brief.

Whiney Boat Stereotypes
A man takes his girlfriend fishing and while he tries to have a good time, it is
rather difficult due to the fact that the entire time she is complaining about him
and his fishing. Oh my God, can you believe he almost made me touch a worm?
Well, at least my outfit matches the boat..and he is kinda cute but when we get
back to land, it s me or the boat! In this add, two distinctly different people, one
could even say two different groups of people come together for a date which does
not go well as eventually a certain button is pressed and she becomes ejected into
the shallows, mucky and covered in pondweed. This ad is aimed at people interested
in buying boats, people who live a more countrified life. It also adds to the stereotype

For many people, a need to discuss and pick apart every single detail is more
important than what activities they decide to engage in.. The conversation she has on
the phone indicates an intense analytic quality towards those around her, which is
piqued to resonate strongly with the female crowd. However, those more acclimated
to fishing may be leaning towards the practice of taking it all in, and not bothering to
think about consequences of their actions, coinciding with the man. This is because
the activity they are both engaging in is only truly engaging to the man, while the
woman appears extremely bored. Another way in which these two people or
stereotypes differ can be shown through their clothing.
Wearing a bright red sheer tank top that shows off what she has, the woman looks
like she is ready for a night out on the town whereas the man is dressed in typical
fishing gear . Obviously this shows a preparedness in the man that the woman
doesn t have. Hence, the woman is made to look the fool, and the man to be
automatically ready. Not only does this highlight the stereotype of a snobby whiny
girlfriend , it also propagates the stereotype of women as airheads, and much less in
control than men. However, this is not necessarily a completely negative aspect of
our society s cultural stereotypes. This capitalization on stereotypes has a basis in
truth; it is much harder to prepare for something you are not used to. Most likely, the

North Korean Nuclear Program Essay
The North Korean government continues to financially fund the research and testing
of nuclear and ballistic missiles. Little information is known about the North Korean
nuclear program and has been made available to foreign nations due to the secrecy
and isolation of international affairs. The threat of a nuclear strike from North Korea
has become an increasingly serious matter for many nations including the U.S. and its
Asian allies, Japan and South Korea. Currently, there are only nine nations known by
intelligent analysis that possesses the resources to manufacture nuclear weapons
which do include the U.S. However, North Korea is the only nation in the 21st
century to conduct a nuclear missiletest that has been reported by North Korean...

Back in Washington, President Clinton s administration concluded that North Korea
was reviving their nuclear missile program and demanded access to the suspected
facilities being built. Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, granted access to
multiple locations to U.S. officials for inspection of facilities in exchange for
financial aid and food (Hathaway Tama 724). North Korea s negotiation for aid from
the U.S. does not come as a surprise for the simple fact that citizens living under the
supreme leadership of Kim Jong un live in absolute poverty. Although the state run
government experiences hardship by trying to provide an adequate supply of food for
citizens; the government spends a huge sum of money to maintain a large military
force. North Korea was not pleased with the accusations that they were constructing
underground nuclear development facilities and demanded the U.S. to compensate a
large sum of financial aid to the state government for defamation. The nation demand
for $300 million or other economic benefits and food aid equivalent to that amount is
claimed very just, because once [North Koreans] open an object, which is very

A Family Supper
Family Supper Analysis A Family Supper by Kazuo Ishiguro follows a story about
a man returning to his home in Japan after World War II to reconcile with his
family after his mother s death. The story demonstrates that losing loved ones bring
out different sides of people. This is shown by the narrator s father, a cold, stern
man who is very proud of his noble samurai blood that begins softening up in old age
in effort to reconnect with his familyafter losing them all to different causes. One
example of this is the narrator and the father reflecting on their past, with the
fathering admitting that [he] should have been a more attentive father (342). With
the death of his wife, the father has had to face many new challenges, and by doing

LOCKHEED IN JAPAN
I. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
1. Were the actions and transactions (bribery) made by Lockheed Corporation ethical
and legal?
II. HYPOTHESIS:
The hypothesis in this case was that if the Lockheed Corporation was conducting
bribery in their transactions, then it s unethical and illegal.
III.ANALYSIS:
There are many factors and areas to be considered if Carl Kotchian s actions for the
corporation were ethical and legal. It looks like bribes were big part of Japanese
business in the 1970 s. By accepting the deal, Kotchian provided jobs for thousands
of employees for the Lockheed Company. The deal also took care of the Lockheed
shareholders, and their families. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Japan s market was the last untapped market in the world.
In this case, Kotchian is face with many challenging moral issues. Kotchian s
biggest moral predicament was paying the bribes to the Japanese politicians. But,
Carl Kotchian was simply doing business in a market where he did not understand
the rules. Kotchian did not offer the bribes to seal the deal; he was told if he wanted
the deal he had to pay bribes. Kotchian only followed the rules of the system in which
this deal took place. Outside the United States bribery was a common global practice
in the 1970s. By paying these bribes, Kotchian secured thousands of jobs, and the
financial security of those families, and shareholders. Kotchian played by the rules of
a system that functioned on bribes, and did what any good business executive in that
time would have done in the global market place.
IV. CONCLUSION:
Kotchian actions were motivated by the act utilitarianism, which states an action is
right if and only if it produces the greatest balance of pleasure over pain for
everyone. By paying the bribes Kotchian made everyone one involved satisfied. By
Japan purchasing airplanes from Lockheed many jobs were created, Lockheed was
promised a future, and all involved parties on the Japanese side were content.
Kotchian, although not completely comfortable with paying the bribes, paid them to
secure the contract. Closing the business deal meant Lockheed s competitors would

Also, the retail investors generally look at the subscription levels of the QIB

The SEBI guidelines amendment in September 2005 allowed at least 5% of the
QIB s reserved portion to go to Mutual Funds which gave an opportunity for the
retail investor to get a bigger share of the pie through the Mutual Funds. THE
STATE OF THE QIP (QUALIFIED INSTITUTIONAL PLACEMENT) SINCE IT
S INCEPTION IN 2006 QIPs are a quick and cost effective method of raising funds
by way of private placement of securities or convertible bonds with QIBs. Before
the introduction of Chapter XIII A in the SEBI DIP Guidelines, an Indian listed
company intending to raise further capital from the public markets in India had the
option of doing so by offering securities through a follow on public offering or
preferential allotments. In May, 2006, SEBI came out with it s guidelines for raising
funds through the QIP route. Since then, a lot many companies have gone this route.
The intention of SEBI behind allowing QIP Scheme, is to promote the domestic
private placement which is generally considered to have two prime advantages over
FCCBs (Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds) and GDRs (Global Depository
Receipts), i.e. keeping liquidity in the same market and faster way to get approvals.

two ways that Ken could open this conversation more productively. For instance,
clearly expressing his emotions and using I language. Ken could have approached
Jen in a different, less confrontational tone. Perhaps if he had asked her do you have
a minute? Jan would have felt as though her time was valuable. The biggest issue
that Ken had is that he opened using you language. You language assigns blame and
seem judgmental. Rather than expressing his feelings clearly, Ken accused Jan

Clearly identifying their emotions and moving to look for a resolution to the
conflict. Using the voice response approach would address the issue directly. It does
not focus on anger and pointing fingers but rather looks to resolve the issue because
it gives each party the opportunity to express their viewpoint. This approach like the
loyalty response ensures the other person that you care about the relationship and are
seeking to preserve it. 4. Review the eight conflict management skills discussed in the
text. Identify three examples of these skills in the dialogue between Jan and Ken.
Finding three conflict management skills in this scenario was somewhat difficult
simply because their discussion was not successful. However, there were attempts to
use the check perception skills, relationship meaning and looking for points of
agreement. The conversation between Jan and Ken was clear they were speaking to
each other as friend and their messages were in tune to that perspective. Ken made
an attempt to check perception when he asked Jan, if she was trying to get payback
for his decision to inform her dad about her wanting to leave school. Checking
perceptions is important to try and grasp the other person s point of view. Also, Jan
made an attempt to find a point of agreement when she brought the

Parole Is Not A Sentence
Parole is the conditional early release of a prisoner back into the community under
the supervision of correctional authorities until the end of the full term of their
sentence. When a sentence is handed down to an offender, they are given a non
parole period which they must serve first before being eligible to be released or
apply to be released on parole. Parole is not a reduced sentence, it is a part of the
sentence where the offender can be conditionally released back into the community
under supervision (Evans, 2013). This essay will look at both the advantages and
disadvantages of offenders serving the remainder of their sentences while integrating
back into the community under supervision, and finally discuss the use of parole in
Australia and whether this approach to corrections is under or over utilised.
There are two types of parole; court ordered parole and board ordered parole. Court
ordered parole is applicable if the offender is sentenced to a period of imprisonment
of three years or less; at the time of sentencing the court will set a date when the
offender can be released on parole. Board ordered parole is applicable if the court
sets a date for the offender to be eligible to apply for parole; it is then up to the
parole board to make the decision whether the offender will be released on parole
(Queensland Government, 2012). Parole boards will consider each offender and case
individually, and assess factors such as the nature of the offence for which
Symbolism In A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings
Finally, in A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Marquez, an old man
with wings falls from the sky. This of course cannot happen, and like A Young Lady
in Paris it is a metaphor for the treatment of outsiders. Once Pelayo and Elisenda had
realized how big the crowds were, they made a profit off of the mistreatment of the
angel from the villagers. Hens pecked at him...parasites that proliferated in his
wings...threw stones at him (MГЎrquez 591). Pelayo and Elisenda used the angel,
without caring for the welfare of him, to take their fortune. The villagers
mistreatment, rather than the villagers just hurting the angel because they could,
symbolized their hatred for outsiders. The angel was put in the story to symbolise, in

I Woke At The Sound Of Roosters Greeting
I awoke to the sound of roosters greeting the morning outside my window.
Breathing in the already hot tropical air, I detected notes of coffee wafting from
the adjacent common living space, which doubled as a kitchen. After spending
only three days in Piedras Gordas, Panama, my host family had embraced my
broken Spanish and love for fresh juice, but SeГ±or Dominguez had yet to approve
of me helping with the sugar cane harvest. The differences between our cultures
were apparent, yet I was ready to embrace them and expand my horizons. Panama
is an interesting contradiction, with bustling cities only miles from quiet mountain
villages. With over 80% of Panama s rural population living in poverty, few
families own cars in the village that became my home for a week. The village is a
sprawling collection of houses, a school, a small co op, one church, and a rather
abandoned looking medical clinic. The only characteristic of the stark concrete
structure revealing it as such is a sign reading ClГnica, barely visible through
overgrown grass. One day, as we were walking to a neighbor s, I pointed to the
structure, asking my host mother what it was. She explained it was a medical clinic,
but only staffed with nurses a couple times a month. Any other medical needs or
emergencies must be taken care of in the nearby town, approximately 30 minutes by
bus. Though I found this disconcerting, she simply continued our conversation this
level of care is her norm. This poignant moment added
Failure of Parliamentary Democracy in Germany and...
Failure of Parliamentary Democracy in Germany and Hitler s Rise to Power
German history is seen as a painful issue for thousands of Germans and other
Europeans . However it has interested many historians over the years into inquiring
how and why Hitler came to power and how much of this was to do with the failure
of parliamentary democracy in Germany. To fully ascertain to what extent these
events have in common and what reasons led to the fall of democracy and rise of
the Nazis, each have to be looked at individually. Also it seems beneficial, to be able
to evaluate these in the relevant context, to look at the situation in Germany was in
prior to 1920.

Nor did Weimar satisfy the questions of why Germany had surrender even though
allied troops had never entered Germany.
Since the Weimar Republic was established in the aftermath of World War One, it
was almost inevitable that it would be blamed for Germanys surrender and the
Treaty of Versailles. The supposed surrender was even harder to accept since in
1918 Germany had signed an armistice with Russia. Weimar was in essence brought
about by defeat . The November Criminals who signed the armistice were always
associated with Weimar, thus making it difficult for Weimar to be associated with
anything but defeat and humiliation. The war guilt clause was also difficult to accept
because it lay all the blame on Germany for starting the First World War. This along
with reparations were crippling not only the economy but German society itself

scandals have had gate attached to them. This topic is important to my case because
it changed the way people looked at the presidents because they really didn t know
what other president were capable of doing the things that Nixon did. The American
people started to see corruption in the highest form. The supreme court was 100%
correct in the decision they made on executive privilege. No one should have so
much power that the law does not matter for them. They shouldn t have more power
than the law. Executive Privilege is a constitutional principle that allows presidents

The Effects Of The Watergate Scandal Of 1972
Some events in history have the power to linger over a nation and affect the world
for years, the Watergate Scandal of 1972 is one of them. The events that occurred
on the morning of June 17, 1972 would have effects on American life and politics
for years to come and ultimately lead to the downfall of President Richard Nixon. The
Watergate Scandalhas proven to have had monumental effects on the political culture
of America. Although Nixon eventually resigned on August 9, 1974, the national
nightmare was not nearly over. Ever since the diminishment of Nixon s presidency:
politics have irrevocably lost its innocence, Americans have lost faith and trust in the
government, and media has become more aggressive with the evolution of
journalism. The so called third rate burglary attempt transpired on the morning of
June 17, 1972. At this time Republican President Richard M. Nixon was running for
reelection and the United States was embroiled in the Vietnam War. On that
memorable day, five men broke into the Democratic National Committee headquarters
in the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C.. Consequently, those men were arrested
for trying to bug and steal documents. Optimistic voters believed there was no link
between the president and the burglars and Nixon was reelected. Initial investigations
were heavily influenced by the media, particularly through the works of Washington
Post reporters Bob Woodwardand Carl Bernstein and their mysterious source Deep

Norse Mythology As A Prequel To American Gods
British author, known for his extensive work with DC universe, announced last
year that he had been working on a book about Norse mythology for three years.
Norse Mythology was finally published in the beginning this month. Neil Gaiman
is not afraid to declare Norse mythology as his favourite. His first meeting with the
Norse gods was Jack Kirby s early Marvel work The Mighty Thor and it spurred
him on to learn more about the Norse mythology. Norse Mythology is not Neil
Gaiman s first introduction as a writer to Nordic gods either. His fantasy novel
American Gods (2001) has a lot of references to Norse Gods, so much that some
people consider Norse Mythology as a prequel to American Gods. In the introduction
to the book, Gaiman mourns the big
Indigenous Tribes of Latin America
Indigenous People of Latin America
Throughout the world, when new lands were conquered, old customs would be lost.
However, in Latin America, a great deal of their indigenous tribes not only survived
being conquered, they are still around today. Different regions of Latin America are
home to different peoples and many tribes are part of ancient full fledged kingdoms.
Some of these kingdoms are among the most well known in the world.
The Meso American native peoples make Latin Americafamous. These peoples
include the Aztecs and Mayans. The Aztecs are most famous for their mathematical
prowess and their calendars are exceptionally accurate. Meanwhile, the Mayans are

Their language, Quechua is still in use today.
The Incas of Cusco originally represented one of these small and relatively minor
ethnic groups, the Quechuas. Gradually, as early as the thirteenth century, they began
to expand and incorporate their neighbors. Inca expansion was slow until about the
middle of the fifteenth century. The Inca were warriors with a strong and powerful
army. Because of the fierceness of their army and their hierarchical organization, they
became the largest Native American society. Quechua is the most widely spoken
language and was the language of the Inca Empire.
Tropical rainforests have long been home to indigenous peoples who have shaped
civilizations and cultures based on the environment in which they live. Great
civilizations like the Mayas, Incas, and Aztecs developed complex societies and made
great contributions to science. Living from nature and lacking the technology to
dominate their environment, native peoples have learned to watch their surroundings
and understand the intricacies of the rainforest. Over generations these people have
learned the importance of living within their environment and have come to rely on
the countless renewable benefits that forests can provide.

Confucius And Confucianism
Confucius s philosophical teachings about government and society discussed in the
Analects revolve around morality and how a ruler and his people should act in order
to stabilize society. Confucius looked to the past to discuss the problems of the
present by modeling his teachings from the former Zhou empire. Confuciussought to
bring back the Zhou traditions in order to better society. By linking moral
behaviors to social roles and hierarchies, he emphasized that the stability of the
government and society was directly correlated to the relationship between the ruler
and the people. With the title Son of Heaven, the ruler was expected to act morally
towards his subjects and treat them with love and concern ( Introduction to
Confucian Thought , 2009). This idea is directly related to the concept of ren,
which discusses the well being of others as the moral drive of society. He extended
this idea into social harmony, being first and foremost embedded in the family.
Confucius believed that the virtue of filial piety was the foundation for not just
family life but also had implication for the ruler subject bond ( Mencius and his
development of Confucian teachings , n.d.). Similarly, Mencius centered his
teachings on this idea by stressing that the well being of the family directly
corresponded to the well being of the state. Most importantly however, Confucius also
discussed the importance of the ruler ruling over the people with virtue, which was
achieved through ritual

Prospero s interaction with Caliban may at first be seen as cruel and inhumane.
Neverthless, Prospero does not denounce Caliban without reason and even teaches
Caliban a helpful skill, the skill of language. Prospero s relationship with Caliban
shows the readers the cruel side of Prospero while simultaneously depicting his
reasonable side. This interaction is similar to the interaction between colonists
and the New World natives. Colonists would arrive on new and unknown lands and
befriend the natives to gain knowledge about the new terrain. But, once the
colonists had no use of the indigenous people, they were enslaved and used to the
advantage of the mother country. Another character that Prospero has an
authoritative relationship with is the spirit of Ariel. Nevertheless, Prospero s
relationship with Ariel is less brutal than his relationship with Caliban. Prospero
also commands Ariel to do things for him that will make it easier for him to regain
his crown, however, Prospero gives Ariel an incentive for complying with his

Rhetorical Analysis Of Winston Churchill s We Shall Never...
European land was annihilated and the European countries were all in dispute. Men
from all around stepped up and fought for their country, risking and generally losing
their lives to save their loved ones. This fatal war was known as World War 2, the
deadliest war in history. The war took a devastating toll on many people worldwide,
while they watched a majority of their loved ones pass; many felt defeated, until one
man stepped up, Winston Churchill. Winston Churchill pronounced his We Shall
Never Surrender speech on June 4, 1940 at the House of Commons, in the United

British forces at Dunkirk, following the German Army attack. Churchill s uplifting

Life of Workers in Staithes Essay

Night obscures the narrow streets of the industrial village of Holmeside as
morning s hesitant light pokes through the canopy of dismal clouds. Inside the
mill, workers have been toiling for hours. They rose from their beds early and put
on their work clothing. The lucky ones ate a crust of bread and drank the remains
of yesterday s milk before stepping out into the chilly darkness to make their way to
the mill. They carried the smallest children. Older children plodded along sleepily as

The portal of the grave is their only means of escape.
Some said the disadvantages of the poor were their own making. Many believed
that the working poor were not fully human, but a bestial and inferior species,
unlike themselves, specifically supplied by Providence as servants through whose
labour they ran profitable enterprises. The poor were seen as a raw material in the
same class as wool and cotton. They were cheap to employ and easy to replace.
Those that looked down on workers failed to see that working conditions in textile
mills were why workers were afflicted with conditions for which no treatment existed.
These early morning people move in procession through the streets, uniting with
others at street junctions to form broader streams, merging with other streams as they
neared the mill to form a grand current of humanity closing on the massive iron gates
of the mill that were symbols of imprisonment. Once inside the gates, workers fanned
out to go to various work stations to work as machine minders in the manufactory.
This was the common condition of men, women, and children in the hard textile

the crucibles of harsh terrain and exacting industrial environments.

American womenhave exposed how being a double minority changes the conditions
of being a minority. In Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, the African American
female characters demonstrate the impact of having a double minority status.

Analysis Of William Wilson A Trick Of The Mind

Writing Composition
6/2/17
A Trick of the Mind Every story has a protagonist and antagonist, often thinking of
them as two different people with either similar or coinciding personalities and
traits, the battle between good and evil. However, the protagonist and antagonist
could also be the same person. Everyone always has different emotions we all have
our own, dark side, or for some, their own alter ego. This idea of a dark side, is a trait
which strongly resonates in Edgar Allan Poe s protagonist William Wilson in his
short story William Wilson. William creates a visual alter ego of himself. William
Wilson s alter ego, is a trick on his mind, with a lack of parental support, which is
created by the need for control, and finally the insecurity within his own self.
William Wilson s lack of parental support causes his poor mental health. He
introduces himself by stating his personality; I wanted people always to do things
my way; I acted like a wild fool; I let my desires control me. (Poe 6). William, even
from a young age, is born with a controlling attitude, to everyone around him, even
his parents. He also despise his parents, considers them as weak and unhelpful, My
father and mother, weak in body and mind, could do little to hold me back. (7). He
also dominates his parents. We also see his parents are weak where he is strong,
asserting his dominance, When their efforts failed, of course my will grew stronger
(7).

people even more. Since then he has always been at his home. Until one morning.
One day while reading a book by Dickens, the duc felt an intense desire to travel to

How Should Beauty Pageants Be Banned
Although most people say that beauty pageants are not always a bad thing, knowing
that just like about most things in the world, there are the bad and good aspects.
Pageants can definitely have a negative affect on a child. Children s beauty pageants
should be banned because they can be exploitative and detrimental to a childs mental
and physical health. They can cause children to have unhealthy egos, and a negative
mindset towards themselves and others. Not only can children be negatively
affected mentally, but also physically because of the high beauty standards they
have to live up to in order to be accepted by society, or in this case a few judges.

They would be able to handle things in a better way emotionally.
Secondly, these type of pageants can teach children fair play and/or friendly
competition. Having them compete with others can train them to be humble and
respectful as a winner and a loser. Beauty pageants are also designed to help prepare
children to be successful throughout the challenges and obstacles they might have in
the future. Then again, children can become very competitive and will often times
do anything to win. Also, some kids can t take criticism and losing, so when they
lose a competition, they might want to give up or they become sore losers. Same
goes for winners, they might feel more superior and better than everyone else, and
become cocky or arrogant.
Thirdly, these type of beauty pageants can be thought of as a useful way for those
who are experiencing the worst financially. Most of the time, children that are 1st,
2nd, and 3rd place winners are given awards such as grants and scholarships. Those
type of awards can help low income families. They also say that beauty pageants
are a fun way for kids to show their talent. They get to travel, wear beautiful dresses,
and take pictures for fun. On the other hand, beauty pageants can also take a toll on
finances. For example, Lindsay Lieberman says, For the past three years, four year
old beauty queen Eden Wood has competed in child pageants. Her parents have spent

Vengeful Heart That Ignites the Hysteria of the Salem Witch Trials The ability to
live one s life to the fullest is a God given right that no one should have to suppress.
In the rigid structure of Puritan settlements, there was minimal room to explore
life, especially if you were a young Puritan woman. Women were required to sit
silently and obey their husbands, take care of the children and the house, and
attend church like good Christian wives. However, as in all human beings, these
women had temptations and sinful natures. In The Crucible, Arthur Miller
illustrates the relationship between Abigail Williams and John Proctor to portray
the themes of pride and lust, and the part they played during the Salem Witch
Trials. John Proctor struggles against his lethal attraction to Abigail, fighting with
his own moral qualities. When Proctor and Abigail are alone in Betty s room in
Act 1, he reveals that he is still attracted to her rebellious nature when he smiles at
her mischief. Ah, you re wicked yet, aren t y ! (Miller 23). However, as she

profession. Nursing is a profession that depends on practitioners to perform in a
way that characterized the goodness of the wider discipline, as all nurses are in a
position of accountability and responsibility. This essay will further look into the
topic of professionalism in nursing, the role of a registered nurse, and having
competence in relation to this role. Furthermore, this will also discuss how a
registered nurse demonstrates professional practice in relation to the New Zealand

Nurses should also ensure that they have the experience, skills, and training needed to
carry out the task that they are expected to implement with evidence based research.
These qualities are included in the second domain which is the management of
nursing care. For example, a nurse should have an understanding of the theoretical
frameworks which shape the nursing over the years. Such as an understanding of
Jean Watson s Theory of Care and its influence on the development of nursing
practice. Furthermore, patients approach nurses due to physical or mental conditions.
Thus, nurses should give the best care to address the needs of the patients. With
effective communication skills and willingness of patient s involvement, this
relationship will continue to nurture with time as long as there is readiness to listen
and harmony from both parties. This relates to the third domain which is
interpersonal relationship. Another factor for being professional is collegiality. This
connects to the fourth domain which is inter professional health care and quality
improvement. Collegiality is the relationship between colleagues who seek the
requirement of respect, mutual trust, and cooperation between team mates (Lorenz,
2013). It is the duty of a nurse to maintain healthy relationships with their team to
ensure the patient s wellbeing. This involves critical teamwork skills particularly
when it comes to referrals,

The Italian Mob And The Russian Mafia
When people think of organized crime they think of the Italian mob and the Russian
mafia. They are the ones that they see in movies and on television, and the ones that
they hear about the most. However, they were created a couple centuries after their
Asian counterparts, the Yakuza in Japan, and the Triads in China. These Asian
syndicates were founded in the sixteenth and seventeenth century and consisted of
merchants and other people in what was basically the middle class. They were just
groups of poorer people who were just looking for protection or were trying to help
other people. The first organized crimesyndicates were a kind of Robin Hood, they
helped the poor. They weren t big or powerful, and they didn t have large numbers.

The most well known group though, is still the Italian Mafia.
The Italian Mafia in the U.S. can trace its origins all the way back to the Sicilian
Mafia which was founded in Sicily during the 1800 s (Italian Organized Crime).
After thousands of years of different armies with different nationalities conquering
Italy and exploiting its people, the Sicilians became to be more clannish and
family focused. Originally they were just resistance fighters that were protecting
their friends and family. They were relied on for protection, justice, and survival.
Nobody cared if they got money from it because it came from the oppressive
authorities. Members of these groups were known as Men of Honor and they were
well respected and even admired because they looked out for their family and kept
silent sometimes even unto death. They didn t become an organized crime group
until the 1920 s however (Italian Organized Crime). It was around this same time
that the US began to see what later became La Cosa Nostra or our thing, better
known as the American Mafia which was aided by the thousands of Italian
organized crime figures, mostly Sicilian Mafiosi who came to the United States
illegally (Italian Organized Crime). The modern American Mafia is credited to
Charles Lucky Luciano who came over in the 1920 s (Italian Organized Crime).

U.S. Priest and Educator Murdered in Nigeria
School violence is not relegated to America alone. Reverend Dennis Osuagwu,
serving in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri in Nigeria s Imo state,
worked at the General House of the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of
Mary and was also on staff at Imo Polytechnic School. He was brutally murdered on
his way home during an ambush on a deserted road. Assassins shot him a point blank
range.
Osuagwu was a strict priest who was not afraid to speak his mind. This sometimes
rubbed people the wrong way and may have contributed to his death. He was firm in
his faith and guided his parishioners on their spiritual path, but he was not known to
bend and this caused a lot of friction in recent times at the Imo Poly. Nigerian

There is the likelihood that the assassins carefully monitored the priest s movement
and laid in ambush for him on his track. I wonder why the Catholic priest chose to
use such a lonely bush path, knowing fully, the recent ceaseless bickering and
wrangling stemming from Imo Polytechnic.
Osuagwu had been back in Nigeria since 2011, but prior to that, for 11 years, he
served in two parishes in Louisiana, St. Ann Church in Lawtell, Louisiana, and at a
Louisiana Holy Family Catholic church. During his time in St. Landry Parish, he
studied at Southern University in Baton Rouge pursuing his doctorate in political
science. He returned to Louisiana twice in the last 4 years.
Those who knew him in the United States do not believe that this was a random act

there, said, It wasn t just a random act. He believed in social justice for all and

John Diefenbaker s Relationship With Cuba
Diefenbaker s Relationship with Cuba
John Diefenbaker s actions during the Cold War in the early 1960 s laid the ground
work for Canada s close relationship with Cuba that continues today. Diefenbaker
refused to cut off ties with Cuba, angering the United States President, John F.
Kennedy. Diefenbaker did not support the United States further than their NATO
commitment, and did not send any troops to the Bay of Pigs Invasion. John
Diefenbaker refused to give support to the United States during the Cuban Missile
Crisis, causing a rift between Canada and the United States. Without John
Diefenbaker s work during the Cold War, Pierre Trudeau never would have been able
to visit Cuba and form a close bond with Fidel Castro. It is due to John Diefenbaker

Potato Catalase Lab Report
Introduction After hearing of GGC s major competitor s (UGA) topical cream
product which reduces scars, burns, abrasions, etc. and is made from sliced
potatoes and hydrogen peroxide, GGC s decision to devise an experiment of which
created a product of greater or equal amount of the enzyme at a lesser or equal price
was placed on the GGC student s shoulders. Researching this experiment more
provided them with the information of what the reactant enzyme was. The enzyme (a
protein that functions as a catalyst to accelerate the rate of a chemical reaction) [book
source] found in the potatowhen combined with the hydrogen peroxide was a
catalase which breaks down hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen [first
website source] creating the foamy substance used to determine the amount of
catalase in a fruit or vegetable. This enzyme is also found in avocados, which were
chosen because of their use in facial masks. Avocados seem to be well supplied with
catalase [second website source]. After choosing the two experimental foods,
potatoes (to observe the reaction needed as seen in UGA s experiment) and avocados
(due to their catalase enzyme), they hypothesized that by increasing the surface area
of both the potato and avocado while combining them with hydrogen peroxide, their
chemical reaction would be greater than that of UGA s saving the industry time and
money in the long run.

The Recipe for a Happy Marriage
America is the land of the free and home of the brave. As American citizens, we
enjoy exercising our liberties and fighting for what we believe in. This includes
freedom in regards to romance, love, and marriage. Yet, sometimes our cultural
backgrounds and family interfere with our given liberties. Movies, and other forms
of artistic expression, often point out societal flaws and bring to light underlying
issues. Comedic expression is a popular way to get across serious points, because the
audience is more receptive to humor and happiness than anger and sadness. It is just
like the old adage you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. This is why we
see big issues of politics, materialism, environmentalism, and so forth taken to the
screen to reach a larger audience. For example, the movie Supersize Me successfully
brought attention to the negative health and environmental impact of fast food
chains. Even though the movies It Happened One Night and My Big Fat Greek
Wedding are decades apart, they both bring attention to the underlying concerns for
how young people meet and fall in love. Cultural background, ethnicity, and
socioeconomic status are factors in determining a socially acceptable couple. This
can unfortunately perpetuate racism through endogamy. Endogamy requires people
to marry within their own group. In America, we are a melting pot of cultures, and
sometimes cultures will demand their members marry only members of the same
background. In My Big Fat
Paul Revere s Ride
On the eve of the Revolutionary war, April 18th, 1775, a well known man, Paul
Revere, rode through every Middlesex village and farm to warn the colonists of a
rumoured British march towards Concord, in which they were going to seize
ammunition. This warning resulted in militia waking up and grabbing weapons to
fend off the British and help lead to a famous victory. Many people refer this heroic
action as the midnight ride of Paul Revere, but Revere was not the only heroic man
on that historical night according to The Other Riders. There were two other riders:
Samuel Prescottand William Dawes. They both played very important roles in alerting
Boston of the impending attacks that were about to take place.
The poem, Paul Revere s Ride, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow shows a clear bias
statement towards Paul Revere. Longfellow states ..he came to the bridge in
Concord town. However, in The Other Riders it says, ...Dawes and Revere set out
for Concord together, joined by Dr. Samuel Prescott and It was Prescott who warned
the town of Concord... There was no mention of the other men in the ... Show more

The other rider, Samuel Prescott, played a very important role in warning people
as well. According to the article, as I stated before, It was Prescott who warned the
town of Concord of the impending British march. This is important because the
Redcoats were planning on seizing the colonists ammunition in Concord, that is a
really big deal. If it weren t for him, who knows if Paul could have made all of the
stops and reach Concord in time. Over the years many people have wondered and
questioned why only Revere was mentioned and honored for his heroism. The text in
The Other Riders states, But why should my name be quite forgot, Who rode as
boldly and well... This is significant because it demonstrates how the other
messengers did just as much as Paul Revere and that they deserve equal recognition

Smart Parking Essay
Abstract the development of an intelligent parking systems which offers a real time
solution to the parking problem is a key aspect of turning our smart city vision into
reality. To achieve this goal, this paper proposes a solution that merge different
technologies into one system. These technologies include RFID, WSN, NFC,
Cloud, and smart phone. This architecture enables us to collect, the environmental
variables , the occupancy state of parking spaces, and provide user directions to the
nearest vacant parking spot by using a smart phone application in real time. This

In a recent study, it is estimated that 30% of the daily traffic jam in an urban cityis
caused by vehicles trying for parking spaces, and due to lack of parking spaces,
some drivers often use the parking spots reserved for special people, e.g. disabled.
Finding parking space is not only waste of time and fuel, but it also increases
pollution and drivers frustration. These issues can be resolved by the development of
new smart parking systems able to better manage the urban parking areas and
perform road traffic issues.
After analyzing all the IoT enabling technologies, e.g. Ultra High Frequency (UHF)
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and Wireless Sensor Network (WSN).
We came to a conclusion that RFID and WSN are the best available technologies
for the development of a smart parking system. RFID holds major advantages over
others as it is low cost, consumes low power, and consist of passive devices called
tags. These tags enables the user to transmit data when power is supplied to them
via electromagnetic field generated by a reader. They usually have a long life span
which makes them a strong contender for the development of a variety of useful
applications. But RFID also have its limitations, due to their reduced operating range
(i.e. Up to 10 m) we cannot use it for object identification and tracking within quite

Chosen news/article: Government targets 1 crore consumers to give up LPG subsidy
PTI Mar 29, 2015, 02.47PM IST, The Economic Times
1. Summary
Under the scheme, LPG cylinders are sold at market rates across the country.
Consumers get Rs 558 in their bank accounts so that they can buy LPG at the market
rate of Rs 605 per 14.2 kg cylinder.
There is a strand of thought that in India the incomes of most consumers remain far
below the global average, and, therefore, it is the government s responsibility to pay
for those who cannot afford.
Government expects that about one crore well off consumers will surrender the
subsidy on cooking gas after Prime Minister Narendra Modi s appeal to people not to
take subsidy if they can afford to buy LPG at market price.
This money can be used for schools and providing medical facilities. I appeal to
people who can afford LPG cylinders at market price, please do not take subsidised
LPG, the Indian Prime Minister said. 2. Background:
In fiscal year 2014 15 (to date) there have been no significant increases in the retail
price of subsidized LPG. On10th November 2014 it was reported that the per cylinder
subsidy would be fixed at Rs 568 from March 2015 an amount Rs 163.36 above the
average per cylinder under recovery recorded in early October 2014.
Though the government has started DBT for LPG subsidy, the document pointed that

The filters consist of finely crushed coal, about one meter in depth, and sand, half a
meter in depth. This provides the final step in the treatment process.
Process flow step 6 Chlorination/dechlorination Chlorine is added to the effluent to
disinfect any remaining microbiological pathogens; this takes at least half an hour.
The effluent is then treated with sulphur dioxide gas to remove excess chlorine,
which would be harmful to the river ecosystem. The effluent is then ready for
discharge into the river.
Process flow step 7 Solids separation and incineration The sludge and scum,
removed in step 2 of the process, are dealt with separately. The sludge is stored in a
sludge holding tank where it is then pumped to the centrifuge at a controlled rate.
Polymers are added to the sludge to aid in the thickening of the sludge during this
process. Water is separated from the sludge by spinning in a centrifuge to form a
thick, muddy substance known as cake , a process known as dewatering . The
cake is then conveyed to the furnace where it is incinerated at 750 1000В°C to
produce Agri Ash. The scum, however, is stored in a heated tank to thicken it prior
to its transfer to the furnace, where it is also incinerated. Approximately 700,000
litres of sludge is treated each day to produce 47 tonnes of dewatered solids. After

Argument On Santa Clauses
Santa Claus was well known as a kind man who had a long white bread, wore big
red white clothes and carried children s gifts with his flying reindeers as a vehicle.
Christians all around the world have had Santa traditions since the 1820 s, which is
lying children to believe in Santa, hang a sock on the window, behave nicely and go
to bed early so that Santa can come and give them presents (Sleepypanda 2013).
Until December 2016, psychologists claimed that Santa myth could destroy children
s trust to parents. All children will eventually find out they ve been consistently lied
to for years, and this might make them wonder what other lies they ve been told,
(Boyle McKay 2016)
Based on my experience, when I was in elementary school, I remember the time that
my English teacher asked us to write postcard, she said that she would send the most
beautiful postcard in the class to Santa Clause, so we put high effort to create an
outstanding postcard. They also asked us to behave nicely for all day because Santa
would come to the room and gave good children a present. In that time, the reason I
believed what they lied because I thought that teacher always teach student the true
and right thing, so they must tell us the truth as well. But, as time goes ... Show more

Also, Canada wanted to follow UN s code of world peace and have a peaceful
reputation. Lester B. Pearson, who was the Canadian Secretary of State for External
Affairs, said that the United Nations must assist the people of Korea to establish

institutions and free self government. Canada wanted Korea to be a free and fair
country with a democratic government opposed from a communist one. Canada did
not only want to fend off the communist threats but to also free Korea from its
struggles to be a country of freedom. In addition, it was imperative that Canada
joined the war. Not only did Canada want to exert its influence as a middle power
of the UN, but also act as a cool negotiator in the UN. Without a valid coalition, the
U.S. military hawks might decide to use extreme methods to win the war. In the
radio, a reporter announces that if the situation escalates higher, the United States
[will] consider using the atomic bomb. On the occasion of this happening, it may
cause an even greater war, perhaps World War III. That war will be far more deadly
because countries will begin utilizing nuclear warfare. In many ways, Canada used
the Korean Warto improve their relationship with the U.S. by showing their support
for them. Canada s American influence evoked its support towards the Republic of
Korea, who was under attack from the communist nation of North

  • 2. Free Throw Shot Analysis This I Believe I believe that a lot of practice and hard work and practice, you can make it anywhere you want to go. For instance one basketball game that I remember real well is the time that I was on the free throw line and the we were up by two points with ten seconds left, and if I did not make this shot I knew that the other team could drive down the court and shoot a three pointer and win the game. So i went up to the free throw line not knowing if I was going to make this shot or not. When I shot the free throw I could tell that it was going to hit the back of the rim. And guess what, it did, and to make it even worse the other team got the rebound and drove down the court and made a layup. After one of my teammates threw the ball in
  • 3. The Causes Of Gas Exchange 1 GAS EXCHANGE 4 Gas exchange Gas Exchange Leslie A. Rouse El Centro College Gas Exchange Gas exchange is defined as the process by which oxygen is transported to cells and carbon dioxide is transported from cells (Giddens, 2013, p.161). Gas exchange in the human body occurs in the lungs and as the primary function of the respiratory system, it exchanges two gases, oxygen and carbon dioxide. The process of gas exchange happens as we breathe through ventilation, transport and perfusion. As you inhale oxygen, the oxygen travels deep into the lungs until it reaches the alveoli. Here in the alveoli oxygen and carbon dioxide diffuse across the alveolar capillary membrane. Oxygen is able to enter into the blood while carbon dioxide is leaving the blood as waste to be exhaled from the lungs and out of the body. This oxygenated blood is then transported throughout the body. All cells depend on a consistent supply of oxygen and removal of waste in order to survive. A reduction or lack of oxygen and/or buildup of waste leads to demise. For this reason, gas exchange is critical. Gas exchange is compromised when there is impairment of ventilation, altered transport of oxygen, or inadequate perfusion. Impaired ventilation may occur in conditions such as inadequate muscle or nerve function to move air into the lungs, such as cervical spinal cord injury; narrowed airways from bronchoconstriction like in asthma, or from obstruction like in chronic bronchitis; poor gas diffusion in
  • 4. Reasons Why It s Worth Investing In Dental Implants Why It s Worth Investing In Dental Implants If you are looking to replace teeth that are missing, you ll have several methods at your disposal to fix it. Unfortunately, many people decide to use dentures or bridges instead of using a dental implant made out of titanium. Implants can be viewed as a luxury tooth replacement option, but that should not stop you from getting them. The dental implant procedure will cost more money than traditional procedures, but the result will be much better for you in several ways. Consider these 4 reasons why it s worth investing in a dental implant to fix your missing teeth. Dental Implants Will Last A Long Time Traditional methods, like dentures and bridges, can require replacement or repair every few years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The post permanently fuses with the bone that surrounds the post, and causes the implant to be secure. The bond helps you avoid dealing with things like adhesives or re adjustments, and gives you more confidence when speaking and eating since an implant won t slip out of place. Dental Implants Don t Require Special Cleaning The problem with dentures is that you must remove them to give them a good cleaning, and it requires using a special kind of denture cleaner to do it. If you do not follow the specific cleaning instructions outlined by your dentist, it can result in the dentures having an odor. The great thing about dental implants is that there are no special cleaning instructions. You simply brush them as if they are completely natural teeth. The tooth may be fake, but cleaning them is essential to maintain healthy gums that hold the implant in place. Dental Implants Will Preserve Your Surrounding Teeth The biggest benefit of having a dental implant is that the titanium post helps stimulate your gums just like a natural tooth. This does not happen with dentures or bridges. Without the stimulation, the gums start to lose their strength, which can affect the teeth that surround the gap. An implant will help prevent bone loss from occurring in that area, keeping the surrounding teeth
  • 5. The Importance Of A Quality Project At An Early Stage Essay Briefing is the process by which a client informs others of his or her needs, aspirations and desires, either informally or formally, and a brief is a formal document which sets out a client s requirements in detail (CIB, 1999, p.5). As OP has a vast amount of experience of erecting towers in Toronto they should be more than capable of outlining their explicit requirements accurately in a project brief. They will also be well aware that any changes during detailed design, or even worse during construction, could have a detrimental effect on the project, possibly extending the project competition date or even requiring a revised planning application and will almost certainly carry an extra cost (see Figure 2). Figure 2: Changes during later stages of the project are likely to be more costly than at the outset. (CIB, 1999, p.8). This being said, OP must realise the importance of supplying a quality project brief to their consultants at an early stage. This will require them to commit a lot of upfront resources to the project to ensure the design matches the client s vision. The process will begin with a statement of need , which will outline vaguely the aims and objectives of the project. For example, OP would have outlined at this stage their desire to construct a tower in the heart of Toronto s financial district. They may have approached the market with the opportunity to tenant the property. The statement of need is then developed through to a strategic brief.

  • 7. Whiney Boat Stereotypes A man takes his girlfriend fishing and while he tries to have a good time, it is rather difficult due to the fact that the entire time she is complaining about him and his fishing. Oh my God, can you believe he almost made me touch a worm? Well, at least my outfit matches the boat..and he is kinda cute but when we get back to land, it s me or the boat! In this add, two distinctly different people, one could even say two different groups of people come together for a date which does not go well as eventually a certain button is pressed and she becomes ejected into the shallows, mucky and covered in pondweed. This ad is aimed at people interested in buying boats, people who live a more countrified life. It also adds to the stereotype ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For many people, a need to discuss and pick apart every single detail is more important than what activities they decide to engage in.. The conversation she has on the phone indicates an intense analytic quality towards those around her, which is piqued to resonate strongly with the female crowd. However, those more acclimated to fishing may be leaning towards the practice of taking it all in, and not bothering to think about consequences of their actions, coinciding with the man. This is because the activity they are both engaging in is only truly engaging to the man, while the woman appears extremely bored. Another way in which these two people or stereotypes differ can be shown through their clothing. Wearing a bright red sheer tank top that shows off what she has, the woman looks like she is ready for a night out on the town whereas the man is dressed in typical fishing gear . Obviously this shows a preparedness in the man that the woman doesn t have. Hence, the woman is made to look the fool, and the man to be automatically ready. Not only does this highlight the stereotype of a snobby whiny girlfriend , it also propagates the stereotype of women as airheads, and much less in control than men. However, this is not necessarily a completely negative aspect of our society s cultural stereotypes. This capitalization on stereotypes has a basis in truth; it is much harder to prepare for something you are not used to. Most likely, the man comes from a outdoorsy
  • 8. North Korean Nuclear Program Essay The North Korean government continues to financially fund the research and testing of nuclear and ballistic missiles. Little information is known about the North Korean nuclear program and has been made available to foreign nations due to the secrecy and isolation of international affairs. The threat of a nuclear strike from North Korea has become an increasingly serious matter for many nations including the U.S. and its Asian allies, Japan and South Korea. Currently, there are only nine nations known by intelligent analysis that possesses the resources to manufacture nuclear weapons which do include the U.S. However, North Korea is the only nation in the 21st century to conduct a nuclear missiletest that has been reported by North Korean... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Back in Washington, President Clinton s administration concluded that North Korea was reviving their nuclear missile program and demanded access to the suspected facilities being built. Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, granted access to multiple locations to U.S. officials for inspection of facilities in exchange for financial aid and food (Hathaway Tama 724). North Korea s negotiation for aid from the U.S. does not come as a surprise for the simple fact that citizens living under the supreme leadership of Kim Jong un live in absolute poverty. Although the state run government experiences hardship by trying to provide an adequate supply of food for citizens; the government spends a huge sum of money to maintain a large military force. North Korea was not pleased with the accusations that they were constructing underground nuclear development facilities and demanded the U.S. to compensate a large sum of financial aid to the state government for defamation. The nation demand for $300 million or other economic benefits and food aid equivalent to that amount is claimed very just, because once [North Koreans] open an object, which is very sensitive in view of their national security... they cannot use it for its original purpose (Park 538). In addition, North Korea counteracted the U.S. accusations of conducting nuclear missile testing by accusing the

A Family Supper Family Supper Analysis A Family Supper by Kazuo Ishiguro follows a story about a man returning to his home in Japan after World War II to reconcile with his family after his mother s death. The story demonstrates that losing loved ones bring out different sides of people. This is shown by the narrator s father, a cold, stern man who is very proud of his noble samurai blood that begins softening up in old age in effort to reconnect with his familyafter losing them all to different causes. One example of this is the narrator and the father reflecting on their past, with the fathering admitting that [he] should have been a more attentive father (342). But, Carl Kotchian was simply doing business in a market where he did not understand the rules. Kotchian did not offer the bribes to seal the deal; he was told if he wanted the deal he had to pay bribes. Kotchian only followed the rules of the system in which this deal took place. Outside the United States bribery was a common global practice in the 1970s. By paying these bribes, Kotchian secured thousands of jobs, and the financial security of those families, and shareholders. Kotchian played by the rules of a system that functioned on bribes, and did what any good business executive in that time would have done in the global market place. IV. CONCLUSION: Kotchian actions were motivated by the act utilitarianism, which states an action is right if and only if it produces the greatest balance of pleasure over pain for everyone. By paying the bribes Kotchian made everyone one involved satisfied. By Japan purchasing airplanes from Lockheed many jobs were created, Lockheed was promised a future, and all involved parties on the Japanese side were content. Kotchian, although not completely comfortable with paying the bribes, paid them to secure the contract. Closing the business deal meant Lockheed s competitors would likely

Before the introduction of Chapter XIII A in the SEBI DIP Guidelines, an Indian listed company intending to raise further capital from the public markets in India had the option of doing so by offering securities through a follow on public offering or preferential allotments. In May, 2006, SEBI came out with it s guidelines for raising funds through the QIP route. Since then, a lot many companies have gone this route. The intention of SEBI behind allowing QIP Scheme, is to promote the domestic private placement which is generally considered to have two prime advantages over FCCBs (Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds) and GDRs (Global Depository Receipts), i.e. keeping liquidity in the same market and faster way to get approvals. Parole Is Not A Sentence Parole is the conditional early release of a prisoner back into the community under the supervision of correctional authorities until the end of the full term of their sentence. When a sentence is handed down to an offender, they are given a non parole period which they must serve first before being eligible to be released or apply to be released on parole. Parole is not a reduced sentence, it is a part of the sentence where the offender can be conditionally released back into the community under supervision (Evans, 2013). This essay will look at both the advantages and disadvantages of offenders serving the remainder of their sentences while integrating back into the community under supervision, and finally discuss the use of parole in Australia and whether this approach to corrections is under or over utilised. There are two types of parole; court ordered parole and board ordered parole. Court ordered parole is applicable if the offender is sentenced to a period of imprisonment of three years or less; at the time of sentencing the court will set a date when the offender can be released on parole. Board ordered parole is applicable if the court sets a date for the offender to be eligible to apply for parole; it is then up to the parole board to make the decision whether the offender will be released on parole (Queensland Government, 2012). Parole boards will consider each offender and case individually, and assess factors such as the nature of the offence for which

Confucius And Confucianism Confucius s philosophical teachings about government and society discussed in the Analects revolve around morality and how a ruler and his people should act in order to stabilize society. Confucius looked to the past to discuss the problems of the present by modeling his teachings from the former Zhou empire. Confuciussought to bring back the Zhou traditions in order to better society. By linking moral behaviors to social roles and hierarchies, he emphasized that the stability of the government and society was directly correlated to the relationship between the ruler and the people. With the title Son of Heaven, the ruler was expected to act morally towards his subjects and treat them with love and concern ( Introduction to Confucian Thought , 2009). This idea is directly related to the concept of ren, which discusses the well being of others as the moral drive of society. He extended this idea into social harmony, being first and foremost embedded in the family. Confucius believed that the virtue of filial piety was the foundation for not just family life but also had implication for the ruler subject bond ( Mencius and his development of Confucian teachings , n.d.). The poor were seen as a raw material in the same class as wool and cotton. They were cheap to employ and easy to replace. Those that looked down on workers failed to see that working conditions in textile mills were why workers were afflicted with conditions for which no treatment existed. These early morning people move in procession through the streets, uniting with others at street junctions to form broader streams, merging with other streams as they neared the mill to form a grand current of humanity closing on the massive iron gates of the mill that were symbols of imprisonment. Once inside the gates, workers fanned out to go to various work stations to work as machine minders in the manufactory. This was the common condition of men, women, and children in the hard textile country of Yorkshire s West Riding. The characters of Yorkshire folk were forged in the crucibles of harsh terrain and exacting industrial environments.

Analysis Of William Wilson A Trick Of The Mind Cameron Narimanian Mrs. Scott Writing Composition 6/2/17 A Trick of the Mind Every story has a protagonist and antagonist, often thinking of them as two different people with either similar or coinciding personalities and traits, the battle between good and evil. However, the protagonist and antagonist could also be the same person. Everyone always has different emotions we all have our own, dark side, or for some, their own alter ego. This idea of a dark side, is a trait which strongly resonates in Edgar Allan Poe s protagonist William Wilson in his short story William Wilson. William creates a visual alter ego of himself. William Wilson s alter ego, is a trick on his mind, with a lack of parental support, which is created by the need for control, and finally the insecurity within his own self. William Wilson s lack of parental support causes his poor mental health. He introduces himself by stating his personality; I wanted people always to do things my way; I acted like a wild fool; I let my desires control me. (Poe 6). William, even from a young age, is born with a controlling attitude, to everyone around him, even his parents. He also despise his parents, considers them as weak and unhelpful, My father and mother, weak in body and mind, could do little to hold me back. (7). He also dominates his parents. We also see his parents are weak where he is strong, asserting his dominance, When their efforts failed, of course my will grew stronger (7).

This includes freedom in regards to romance, love, and marriage. Yet, sometimes our cultural backgrounds and family interfere with our given liberties. Movies, and other forms of artistic expression, often point out societal flaws and bring to light underlying issues. Comedic expression is a popular way to get across serious points, because the audience is more receptive to humor and happiness than anger and sadness. It is just like the old adage you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. This is why we see big issues of politics, materialism, environmentalism, and so forth taken to the screen to reach a larger audience. For example, the movie Supersize Me successfully brought attention to the negative health and environmental impact of fast food chains. Even though the movies It Happened One Night and My Big Fat Greek Wedding are decades apart, they both bring attention to the underlying concerns for how young people meet and fall in love. The effluent is then treated with sulphur dioxide gas to remove excess chlorine, which would be harmful to the river ecosystem. The effluent is then ready for discharge into the river. Process flow step 7 Solids separation and incineration The sludge and scum, removed in step 2 of the process, are dealt with separately. The sludge is stored in a sludge holding tank where it is then pumped to the centrifuge at a controlled rate. Polymers are added to the sludge to aid in the thickening of the sludge during this process. Water is separated from the sludge by spinning in a centrifuge to form a thick, muddy substance known as cake , a process known as dewatering . The cake is then conveyed to the furnace where it is incinerated at 750 1000В°C to produce Agri Ash. The scum, however, is stored in a heated tank to thicken it prior
