Healthy Food Community Outreach Project Reflection Paper
Our group the Kids Next Door was assigned to a Family Dollars Store in 901 Bridgewood Dr. Fort
Worth, TX 76112 to conduct Healthy Food Community Outreach survey. This Family Dollar Store
opens at 9:00 am and close at 10:00 pm Monday through Sunday. So, on October 19, 2017, Thursday
at 9:00 am, our group went to conduct the survey. We enjoyed conducting this survey and it was a
great opportunity to learn about healthy food in our Tarrant county. As working with a group on this
project, I have gained experiences in teamwork, communication, and exploration. Before we went to
conduct the survey, I was kind of afraid to go shopping there alone. I thought this neighborhood is
dangerous and was not safe for a girl to shopping there alone. However, after exploring the
neighborhood Family Dollar store, my negative thoughts of this neighborhood were completely
changed.
The location of this Family Dollar store is across from Dollar General and about half a mile from this
Family Dollar store, there is Albertson supermarket. I also noticed there was a city bus stop nearby
this Family Dollar store. I found this location as convenient for the residents and access to public
transportation is another factor that gives people transportation options to get to work and shopping.
There were plenty of parking spaces available for customers including accessible handicap parking
spaces in front of the store and near the store entrance. The store environment was clean, but I did not
notice whether the trash bin was placed in front of the store or not. I arrived there a little bit early
around 8:50 am and I saw a few customers walked in the store ten minutes earlier than store open
hour. It was kind of a surprise to see it because I did not expect the store would allow the customer to
walk into the store before the open hour.
Unfortunately, our group member Kayla could not join us for this survey. The rest our group members
met in the parking on the survey day. We brought the survey, but we forgot to bring a letter to show
the store manager. However, the store staffs were friendly, and they allowed us to perform the survey

Juana s The Pearl
The impression that you get from a character may be really different from what you find out they
actually are at the end of the story. In the first chapter of The Pearl , Juana seemed to be a strong
maternal character. She seemed very brave and strong. However, as the story unfolded, her character
turned out to be weaker than she seemed to be at the start. Juana falls behind Kino s shadow. The
impression Juana gave in the beginning of the story was that she was brave and strong. She risked her

In the end of chapters 3 and 4, I doubted my own thoughts. Juana tried convincing Kino to get rid of
the pearl. She kept telling him awful things about the pearl but he never listened to her and refused to
do what she said. Juana said,
This thing is evil...This pearl is like a sin! It will destroy us...Throw it away, Kino. Let us break it
between stones. Let us bury it and forget the place. Let us throw it back into the sea. It has brought

Juana kept telling Kino about how the pearl was evil. She told him twice and you can tell she was very
emotional about it because she cried as she said those words. Kino never listened to her and refused to
obey what she told him. If Juana was really a stronger character, Kino might have listened or at least
thought about obeying her rather than immediately going against her point. I believe that this shows
how Kino is more superior to Juana, hence why I believe that she falls behind his

Giancarlo De Carlo was an Italian Architect. He wasn t known as an architect until the 1940s, but

I believe that imperialism is mostly being a bully and just a little bit of being a friend for three reasons.

Certainly having other sociology courses prior to this class helped my learning the most. However, the

Although coming up with solution to those problems are challenging, at least I learned how to address
them. Since I understand the causes and consequences of social problems, I am now comfortable to
discuss my points of view with another individual in an educated discussion. Furthermore,
understanding the causes and consequences has also allowed me to understand that not everybody has
the same points of view. We can all go through the same situation, but we all experience it differently,

Gingival enlargement is the overgrowth of gingiva characterized by an expansion and accumulation of
the connective tissue with occasional presence of increased number of cells.
Drug induced gingival overgrowth is known as an adverse effect with three types of drug:
 Phenytoin, an antiepileptic;
 Cyclosporine A, an immunosuppressant; and
