Lynching In America Essay
During the nineteenth century, lynching was brought to America by British Isles and after the Civil
War white Americans lynching African American increased. Causing and bringing fear into their
world. In the Southern United States, lynching became a method used by the whites to terrorize the
Blacks and to remain in control with white supremacy. The hatred and fear that was installed into the
white people s head had caused them to turn to the lynch law. The term lynching means to be put to
death by hanging by a mob action without legal sanction. So many white people were supportive of
lynching because it was a sign of power that the white people had. Lynching of the black people was
used frequently by white people, their is no specific detail of how many times they had done it, but
lynching of black people has lasted from 1882 to 1968. Lynching also is in fact a inhuman
combination of racism and sadism which was used to support the south s caste system, (Gandhi).
During this time, lynching was used to control, intimidate, and manipulate a certain group of people,
striking fear into their hearts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These types of sundown towns were connected to lynching and lynch mobs because they re known for
their behavior as a all white neighborhood in the United States that practice a form of segregation by
enforcing restrictions and excluding people of other races from their town. The name came from signs
put up that said blacks need to leave before sundown. Because lynching mobs were able to influence
their own governments into supporting lynch mobs, there was no one to stop these crimes also known
as Lynch Laws. The Lynch Laws were created by Charles Lynch, who ordered legal punishments on
Tory acts and was also an administration of punishment. Because of this law, lynching was supported
by many whites because they felt that they gave a warning to the

Types Of Natural Disasters
Review of Literature
I.Types of Natural Disasters
On Earth, there are numerous types of natural disasters such as tsunami s, earthquakes, thunderstorms,
tornadoes, etc. Some occur more than other natural disasters, while others cause more destruction than
others. Natural disasters form because of the shifting of earth, the weather, and floods and mudslides.
A.. Most Common Natural Disasters There are some natural disasters that occur more than others.
Some examples of most common natural disasters are Hurricanes and Thunderstorms. Even though
these disasters are more common than others, they can cause more damage.
Hurricanes
Hurricanes are a storm of the most intense severity (dictionary.com). Hurricanes develop when

years, there has been hurricanes that were more powerful than others such as Hurricane Irma and
Hurricane Tip. Hurricane Irma struck the northeast caribbean, with wind speeds up to 185mph (miles

Similarities Between The Christian Rosary And The Buddhist...
A religious individual may most gloriously carry out his or her own rituals, as a part of his or her
cultural identity, but the moment, that person starts to build a wall of separation between the self and
the rest of humanity, coaxed by the textual commands of a scripture, the healthy religiousness turns
into dangerous fundamentalism, which is a threat to both the self and the society. (Abhijit Naskar). In
the recent history of our society, the actions of religious extremists have driven people apart, and
hatred has grown from a lack of ecumenism between those of different faiths. By focusing on the
differences between religions, and not on the latent similarities that inherently exist between different
faiths, people become blinded to how various religions are all rooted in the same philosophies.
However, by focusing on the similarities of different religion, through philosophies, rituals, or
teachings, we can then learn how to tear down walls, grow as people, and become cognitive of our
joint humanity. With the necessity of ecumenical relations in our community, it serves humans to see
the similarities between the faiths that can divide us. On such similarity exists between the rituals of
the Christian Rosary and the Buddhist tradition of Prayer Wheels, both are physical guides for
repetitive prayers and personal reflection and meditation. The Catholic tradition of the Rosary is a
long held practice of Marian prayer which dates back millennia. The tradition of the

Stress And Its Effect On Racists
Death rates due to racial discrimination will decrease if racists are punished with jail time. As stated
by Pacific Standard, an American magazine, stress is an aspect that affects both the mentality and
physicality of someone in a negative way. With racists constantly bothering their victims, it can create
a substantial amount of stress; Having an unhealthy mind and body caused by stress shortens a life
span. Since there is a substantial amount of racism in the entire world as a whole, there are a plethora
of victims who are struggling with the stress of being a target. Since everyone is different, each person
can take rude remarks in their own way; Some will allow the negativity to consume them while others
might take the matter to a drastic

Thesis On Might Is Right
Might is Right Might is Right is a concept followed and agreed with by many leaders from all over the
world, from every part of history, and even from novels and fairy tales. The Sword in the Stone , by
T.H. White, is about a young boy called Wart who grows up to be King Arthur and about the changes
in his childhood. Wart s mentor, Merlyn, knows that Wart will be king one day, and helps to prepare
Wart for his role as an adult through lessons. These lessons have to do with all sorts of things that will
help Wart in his life, such as making good decisions and using wisdom. Along with those, some of
them are focused on Might is Right and what he would do with power. One might ask, what exactly is

Many people believe that the best type of ruler is a kind and good ruler. In the article 23 Traits of a
Good Leader , both Nancy Clark, author of 18 Holes for Leadership , and Darcy Eikenberg, a
leadership and workplace coach in the Red Cape Revolution commonly believe that true leaders have
humility, the ability to empower, be collaborative, a good communicator, and fearless. In the article,
Clark states, True leaders have confidence but know when it becomes hubris . This proves that many
people out there believe that these positive qualities are what make a good leader. On the other hand,
many also believe that a being a kind or good leader doesn t automatically make you an effective
leader. Others believe that the best type of ruler is what that has total control. In the article 15
Characteristics Effective Leader , Robert Tanner expresses, They are clear about what needs to be
done, they challenge assumptions, they accept and use conflict as needed... . This quote represents
being a harsh, no nonsense leader, taking more control over the people, and not letting people question
a leader s authority. These two quotes have very different takes on what you need to be a leader, but
are they really so different? A leader is someone who has command over people. An especially good
ruler has both effective and good qualities

Social Justice Promotes Equality Among People
Social justice promotes equality among people. Having the opportunity to describe social justice s
impact on my own life has challenged me to reflect on the blessings I have been given. Because I have
so much for which to be grateful, I have made acts of service a priority. Through community service, I
have gained a unique understanding of the importance of social justice and equality for all people. A
mentor once said to me, It is much better to be tired and making a difference in the world than to be
well rested and doing nothing. When I first entered high school, I was looking forward to new clubs
and activities that were now available to me. One club that caught my eye was Life Skills, a program

A Comparison of Healthcare in Canada and the United...
Canada s healthcare system started in 1946 and is made up of a group of socialized health insurance
plans that provides coverage to all Canadian citizens. It is publicly funded and administered on a
provincial or territorial basis with in the rules set by their federal government. Since the late 1960 s
Canada essential has had a universal health insurance system covering all services provided by
physicians and hospitals. In 1966 Lester B Pearson s government subsequently expanded a policy of
the universal healthcare with the medical care act. Canada s healthcare system is the subject of
political controversy and debate in the country. While healthcare in America began in the late 1800 s

Under this system individual citizens are provided preventative care and medical treatments from
primary care physicians as well as access to hospitals, dental surgery and additional medical services.
With few exceptions, all citizens qualify for health coverage regardless of medical history, personal
income, or standard of living. (Canadian Health Care, 2004 2007) These insurance plans are
provincial or territorial and are financed by both the federal and the provincial authorities. Provinces
are similar to states in the US, and Canada has 10 provinces, which are Alberta, British Columbia,
Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward
Island, Quebec and Saskatchewan. From about 1940 to 1950 the American government stepped in and
encouraged employers to offer health insurance as a part of employee compensation packages which
in turn the supply of health insurance increased as more and more commercial insurance companies
entered the market and the use of healthcare increased as medical technology became more
sophisticated.
In Canada, although private insurance companies exist they are not allowed to cover services provided
under provincial plans. In each province only one public insurance entity is responsible for
reimbursing hospitals and physicians. Patients are free to choose their physicians, but they do not

Dl Mayfield Assimilate Or Go Home
The book Assimilate or Go Home: notes from a failed missionary by D.L. Mayfield is a story that is
captures the unspoken side of the mission field. This book is based off the author, D.L. Mayfield who
has a dream from a very young age. Her future dream is one that many christians have when they are
younger. Mayfield had experiences as a teenager that fed a passion for her to eventually work with
refugees in America. She dreamed of serving the least of these who come from foreign countries with
the intent that she would win these outsiders to convert to Christianity. Mayfield starts to take time as
a college as student to prepare for her future mission endeavors. After one of her first experiences with
a group of Somali Bantu refugees , it drove Mayfield to be more determined to pursue missions during
her college career. Her experience led her to excitement and dreams of how adventurous it will be to

The Creation Of The New German Nation, Or What Would Become
The creation of the new German nation, or what would become known as the German Unification,
mirrored similar revolutions around the globe, including that of the Meiji Restoration and the Ita lian
Unification. Undoubtably, by the turn of 1871, a new German Empire emerged, but what remains in
uncertain territories, is whether this new German Empire was created from above or below. Neither
position can be disregarded or invalidated, as the power of the people holds equal significance to that
of the people in power. However, as clearly highlighted by Ernest Renan in a declaration of
nationhood, we [the people] are what you make us; we are what you are , demonstrates the complex
relationship between a nation, its leaders and their people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Danes and Alsace Lorrainers were inconvenienced by war, as their respective nations loss to
Germany had left their lands to be transferred from one nation to another and they somewhat found
themselves left to be an alienated minority in a new country that was not their own. While, the Poles
were the butt of historic German feelings of superiority , as they d generally found themselves within
the German Empire and along with the other minorities, they were all, in one way or another, treated
as actual or potential enemies of the Empire . Essentially, this was a period of internal division in
Germany , as the minorities of the Poles, the Danes and Alsace Lorrainers combined with others that
opposed the nature of the new German nation, including many catholics, set the reality that although
the new German nation had been created from above, it was yet to be brought into existence below.
This left the creation of the German nation to mirror the reality of Italian unification, as highlight by

With the German nation having been created from above, it then needed its citizens to be created as

Racial Identity In Malcolm X
There were three main ideas in the book Malcolm X. These were Systemic Oppression, Racial
Identity, and Integration vs Separation. There have been many examples of each one of these
throughout the book. (Some were more life changing to Malcolm than others.) Some of the most
important in his life were his time in jail, his trip to Mecca and Nightmare Night. Each of these life
events represents a different main idea of the book. The first most important part of Malcolm s life
was his time in jail. This represents the main idea of racial identity. His friend, Shorty, was a drug
dealer. He got Malcolm into dealing due to the fact that Malcom needed money. Selling drugs, or
hustling, was the best way Malcolm could see to final make some decent money. This represents racial
identity because all the blacks thought that dealing was the way life had to be to win in the world of
white supremacy. He eventually got caught hustling and was sent to jail. In prison, he finally realized
how to deal with a world that was not completely fair to people with darker skin. Malcolm had had
many examples of this throughout his life, including getting told he could not become a lawyer solely
because he was black. This is also the time when he turned to religion and Allah as his savior. His new

Temperament As An Explanation Of Adolescent Risk
1.Temperament Temperament is defined as a characteristic mode of behaviour or reaction of a person
or an animal (Coleman 2009). Temperament effects many aspects of life and is a broad concept that
cannot be directly measured, so many researchers have attempted to measure indirectly e.g. in
gambling behaviour (Caspi 2001). Although considered innate, it has been shown that it can change to
some degree (Moffet et. al 2011). An important aspect of temperament in relation to risk taking
behaviour is that of self control. Temperament as an explanation of adolescent risk taking has some
evidence to support it. To look at risk taking behaviours, Caspi (2011) studied the temperament s
effect on gambling. They observed a sample of three year olds to classify them into five temperament
categories. They later conducted face to face interviews with the same group at 21 and 32 years old.
They found that children who were classified as under controlled at age 3 were two times more likely
to display disorganised gambling behaviour compared to the well adjusted group. These findings were
independent of intelligence and socio economic status. Moffet et al. (2011) did a longitudinal
observational study on children from birth until 32 years old, looking at self control . This was to
assess whether children s self control levels predicted health issues, wealth outcomes, and criminal
convictions. They found that the differences in level of self control did predict these outcomes, and

Comparing The Australian And Indonesian Economy
Transcript: Comparison of the Australian and Indonesian economy
Australian living standards are higher than Indonesia s, this is a result of Australia maintaining higher
economic performance through superior economic indicators. Australia s economic indicators reflect a
mature and relatively stable economic growth with a population 1/10th of Indonesia s, in comparison,
Indonesia s economy reflects a growing developing economy. Indonesia s economic trends are
improving at a rapid rate and if this trend continues, Indonesia could have in the mid to long term
superior economic growth and thus higher living standards than Australia. Particularly as Indonesia
has a young population to fuel this.
To determine living standards we must know what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Figure 2 it is evident that Indonesia s cost of living, as reflected by the CPI, has been significantly
deteriorating over the last 8 years. Although research argues that CPI may not be an effective indicator
of the cost of living for a developing country such as Indonesia (East Asia, 2015). In contrast
measuring the percentage of a household budget that goes to food is could be a good indicator. Since
2000, the percentage of household budget spent on food has declined, meaning higher expenditure on
discretionary goods and services. This indicates that Indonesia s urban regions are getting richer faster
than the impression expressed with the CPI (East Asia, 2015). This is also reflected in figure 1, as the
significant increase of mobile phone subscriptions is a good proxy of increased living standards as a
mobile phone is a discretionary living cost. This is a result of the Indonesian growth rate earning a
higher level of surplus income to spend on more luxury items.

However, the plan called for a $66 million dollar cut in capital funding for environmental program and
land preservation compared to last year s budget. In doing so, water quality improvement projects will
get hit the hardest from the budget cut. This truly was a shock to the supporters for the Chesapeake
Bay and agriculture industry because this negates the possibility of continuing the talks on the issue of
the phosphorous pollution regulation. This imposed heated issues with reports of millions of dollars at
stake for Shore farmers and billions for industries located by the bay. This decision angered many
environmental supporters. Allison Prost, the Maryland Executive Director of the Chesapeake Bay
Foundation said, This is a sad day in the long fight to make Maryland waters clean enough for
swimming and fishing (www.delmarvannow.com). During Hogan s political campaign, it appeared
that the phosphorous pollution regulation was going to stay in place, which required Shore farmers to
limit the phosphorous output. Even though the regulation was a move to limit nutrient pollution into
the Chesapeake Bay that was supported by the former Governor and the researchers at the University
of Maryland, Governor Hogan cut the funds in the FY 2016 budget (www.delmarvannow.com).
Subsequently, political strings caused Governor Hogan to pull the regulation right after his
inauguration. Now that s politics. Get the people s votes and the rest is

Martin s first aircraft he designed caused he a significant amount of grief because he foolishly tried to
turn the prop of the aircraft with no one at controls. The aircraft lunged forward and Martin had to
dive under it to clear the propellers. He was drug around by the aircraft until it fell apart. The
Lockheed brothers had a failed attempt at starting the Lockheed Aircraft Manufacturing Company.
The company lasted about six years before they were forced to liquidate it. The United States
government and Lockheed began working together during World War II. They developed the P 38
Lightning which was a fighter aircraft. Advanced Development Projects was a division that Lockheed
created in secret. This division is responsible for creating the first jet powered fighter for the U.S. It
was called the P 80 Shooting Star. The aircraft was introduced to service in 1945. Advanced
Development Projects would later be retitled as Skunk Works. Skunk Works established itself as the
leading military aircraft creator for the U.S. by developing the U 2 and F 104, as well as their work on
stealth aircraft like the F 117 an SR 71. The division proved to be a successful asset for Lockheed.
At the same time, Lockheed had begun developing cargo and passenger aircraft for military use. They
are responsible for developing the C 5, C 17, C 130, and the C 141. In 1995, Lockheed and Martin

Japan And Japanese Culture
Japan is an East Asian Island country with a distinct cultural identity. Samurai values, kimono
clothing, Noh Theater, woodblock art, and sumo wrestling are among the many instantly identifiable
aspects of Japan s culture. Many of Japan s cultures have developed through centuries of feudal rule
and has benefited from the country s geographic isolation.
Japan put in place a policy of national seclusion for hundreds of years until the 1850s, but it
succumbed to an imperialist power by the end of the 19th century. The culture of Japan was spread
internationally through occupation in military campaigns before World War II. Japan then reinvented
itself after the war and began to flourish economically. Japanese influence spread not by militarist
might, but through economic integration with much of the international community in the last part of
the 20th century (Encyclopedia Britannica Online, Japan, 2011).
East of the Asian mainland, Japan is a country of mountainous volcanic islands and intermittent
valleys situated in the western Pacific Ocean. Japan has four main islands, the biggest is Honshu,
which contributes to sixty percent of the nations total land area and eighty percent of the entire
population. Some of the other major islands of Japan include Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku. Lying
south of the main islands are the Ryukyu Islands, including Okinawa. With a land area totaling
377,835 sq km (145,902 sq mi), Japan is a fraction smaller than California. Neighboring

The Importance Of Teaching English As A Second Language
This paper will be discussing how one can go to Serbia and teach English as a second language. This
paper will include important information such as basic education system, visa, demographic and more
things about Serbia.
Keywords: TESOL, English, Serbia, Second language, Teaching.
Advancing the learning and educating of American English around the world is an integral portion
having different cultures interacting as well as understanding between the individuals of the United
States and the people of other nations. Expanding the English dialect capacity of groups of onlookers
abroad extends and improves their engagement with American partners and builds enduring bridges
between societies. One such place is Serbia. This paper will discuss everything concerning Serbia s
educational system as well as on teaching English as a second language.
This table illustrates in a very precise manner, the educational system of Serbia.
The school year for primary and high schools lasts for 9.5 months, except for 8th grade of primary and
3rd/4th grade of secondary school, for which it lasts 9 months. It begins on September 1, and ends in
the half of June. For 8th grade of primary and 3rd/4th grade of secondary school, it ends in the
beginning of June (about one week earlier than for others). Preschool education was optional and
primary and secondary education were the same. The school year is split into 2 semesters
(polugodište), and semesters are split into 2 quarters (tromesečje). Between school years, in summer,
there is summer holiday which last for 2½ months (3 months for those proceeding to high school or
university. So, students have about 85 working days in the first semester and 95 in the second
semester; 180 in total).
This graph illustrates the higher education system in Serbia:
On the side note Serbia has around 7 million people and major religion is Easter orthodox. It s weather
oscillate, and the climate can be called Continental in the north, Adriatic in the south. Not in every
case but for the most part visas are needed for teachers in Serbia, but very easy to get hence it s a third

Successful Marketing Strategies of the Company, Cofeelcon
Marketing Strategy
Presently, CoffeeIcon has three store locations and a user friendly website that displays its coffee,
coffee accessories, coffee brewers, sodastream products, and tea in a very organized manner, including
an option to chat live with a customer service representative about any product or service questions a
customer may have. CoffeeIcon also targets commercial business by offering coffee brewers and an
assortment of coffee products that a typical vendor cannot match with its same day shipping. In
marketing its business, CoffeeIcon uses several social media outlets like: Facebook, Instagram,
Pinterest, Foursquare, Linkedin, and Twitter.
Marketing is how a company informs its customer base of its products or services and what to expect
from the company currently and in the future. However, as much as a website and social media can
help market CoffeeIcon s business it does not seem to be effectively reaching many local and
surrounding area consumers of the great products and services CoffeeIcon has to offer. In a survey
conducted by our group revealed that 85% of the people had never heard of CoffeeIcon. We believe
this lack of customer awareness is due to the mediums of marketing CoffeeIcon currently applies.
According to surveys, websites rank 4th and social media ranks 6th compared to more conventional
ways of advertising to target current and potential customers (Berland, E.). We will propose three
more conventional types of advertising that will

Intravenus Lines
Intravenous fluids are administered through either a central or peripheral line. A central line is an
intravenous line made of a small flexible tubing used to intravenous medications, blood, or to collect
blood samples. A central line is inserted under the skin away from the vein, and it comes out from a
subcutaneous route. A cuff is placed around the tunneled part of the line securing placement and
helping to prevent infection to the insertion site. Central lines are inserted into large veins in the
central circulation (Caring, 2015). The catheter is threaded into the internal or external jugular vein; it
can also be threaded into the lower third of the vena cava leading to the superior part of the right
atrium. When inserted, a chest x ray is done to confirm placement and position of the catheter, and to
check for pneumothorax (Central, 2015). A peripheral line is a vein in the arm, hand, or in an infant in
the scalp. A peripherally inserted central line, also known as a PICC line, is another type of catheter
used to administer intravenous medications. PICC lines are inserted in the inner arm toward the
shoulder, moving to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Biography of Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson was born April 29, 1958 to a working class family in Gary, Indiana. His parents, Joe
and Katherine had ten children and Michael Jackson was the eighth child. The Jackson family was
very musically inclined. Michael s father played guitar in a small R B band, his mother sang
frequently, and his brothers often sand and played with their father s guitar (Biography on Michael
Jackson, 2002). Michael Jackson was no exception to his family s musical ability.
At the age of four Joe Jackson pushed his children to start a band. This band was called the Jackson 5.

Dangerous was an album of New Jack Swing which was a combination of R B, Jazz, and funk. This
was the most sold New Jack Swing record of all time. Dangerous not only was significant because of
the record it broke but all profits that were earned form the tour were donated to different charities
including the charity that Michael Jackson ran (Michael Jackson Biography 2014).
Though after these successful times, Michael Jackson s public opinion turned negative. In 1993,
Michael Jackson was accused of sexual abuse by a thirteen year old boy that Jackson had known.
After a year of these allegations Jackson settled with the family for approximately twenty million
dollars, then the police investigation was dropped (Michael Jackson, 2011) and nothing more with the
case was brought up.
Not only did the sexual abuse allegations change the public s opinion of Jackson but his changing
appearance turned people off as well. Michael Jackson began changing his appearance with plastic
surgery and taking drugs to make his skin white. Michael Jackson was obsessed with the fact that he
was aging and wanted to do all he could to stop the process from appearing on his body (Rolling
Stones Articles, 2009). Michael Jackson did not oblige to these rumors he simply blamed his skin
changing from black to white on a skin pigmentation deficiency. Even as these rumors were
circulating Michael Jackson continued to make music and

Hatchet Character Analysis
In Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen, the pessimistic main character, Brian is in extreme isolation and
experiences a horrible conflict. While Brian has to adapt from being his comfortable self in the city to
a vulnerable life in the canadian wilderness. Brian experiences with separations is both indifference
and enhancing ways. The plot brightens up by the author s main purpose, change. This essay will
analyse Brian s character, internal conflict, and the aspect of the setting. Brain s character is
challenged in his efforts for his durability. He changes as he observes new temperaments and actions.
In Paulsen s breathtaking novel, Hatchet, a motivated Brain pushes away panic, and pessimistic
thoughts. Eventually he get productively gets moving for his survival. Brian is inspired from a old
friends words, Brain states, Look at all of it . This represents that Brain starts to become patient and
investigates his surroundings with a exceptional and advanced perspective. This is important because
these traits might be helpful if another situation like this one occurs again. Brain interprets, You are
the best thing you have . This displays that Brain overcomes his anxiety feeling and starts logically
thinking about his advantages he has. This is important because Brain needs as much dignity he can
get because of his mental and physical conditions he is in. As a result, Brain begins to think about
excellent thoughts also, is being resourceful for the time being. I relate to this book because I have had
an experiences when I got into a fight with my sister about a little, non important problem. My sister
and I were fighting one day because I used something of hers without asking. She was mad at me, and
I totally respect that, but she was being a little harsh. My sister and I figured it out after a bunch of
fighting. That experience changed my character, by being careful, and respectful of what I use without
asking my sister. Persevering, Brian constantly fights with a personal conflict, advancing his ability to
evolve to the wilderness. In Paulsen s moving novel, Hatchet, Brain is in overwhelming self pity
thoughts, but eventually pushes theos unhelpful thoughts away and is becoming motivated for his
durability. Brian

Calorimeter Lab
The purpose of this lab is to find most efficient way to capture energy from a combusted chip using a
calorimeter. We made a basic calorimeter by using a steel can. Throughout our lab we made
modifications to the calorimeter to increase the percent of energy captured by the water. Energy is the
ability to do work or the ability to move or produce change in matter (Castro). Energy is always
conserved; it cannot be destroyed or created. When a ball is flying through the air it has kinetic energy.
It has ability to do work and to act with other object when it hits another figure. Kinetic energy is
energy that is in motion or is doing work. A cup sitting on a table has potential energy. If you knock

We can determine the nature of reaction from the sign of DH. It is completely independent of whether
the reaction takes place in a series of steps or all at once, this is know as Hess Law. Some reactions

reactions don t take place until we add heat from the surroundings (Enthalpy). Calorimetry is the
science connected with determining the changes in energy of a system by measuring the heat

State of the Art in Multilingual Text Retrieval Accessing...
In this paper we surveyed the state of the art in multilingual text retrieval accessing parallel web

selecting language for query submission. The way the query is fired leads into two types of search
Cross language information retrieval and Multi language information retrieval. In cross language
retrieval the user query is machine translated into multiple language queries automatically as per user

As a YouTube user, advertising is a pain and I try to avoid it whenever possible, but it could be much
worse and is generally non intrusive as possible. Some videos provide a flash overlay at the bottom of
the video that displays an advertisement similar to the Google ad words advertisements that appear

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act requires the owners of content to notify websites when their
copyrights are infringed. This works for YouTube because the responsibility lies with the copyright

every minute on its site, the concept of YouTube would not work because users expect their videos to

Video advertisements have a response rate of 0.4%, which is still greater than regular web

manufacturer looking to use YouTube video ads as a major part of my advertising budget. I can expect
that a large portion of the viewing audience would skip or block out my advertisement. The return on
investment is potentially very small. Another concern I would have would be copyright issues,

Evolutionary Concepts Activity 6 Essay
Evolutionary Concepts Activity 6 1. Evolutionary theory describes how populations change over time
due to changes in the gene pool. There are several mechanisms that can change a gene pool and allow
evolution to occur. Natural selection, mutation, gene flow and genetic drift are some of the driving
forces behind evolutionary change. Natural selection and genetic drift are the mechanisms that
decrease genetic variation, whereas gene flow and mutation are the driving mechanism to increase
genetic variation. Natural selection is basically the understanding that the environment can not support
unlimited population growth, and not all organisms are able to reproduce to their full potential due to
trait variation. For example, a black fly may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Allopatric speciation occurs due to a geographic isolation process such as when a pond might dry
up and create two ponds, a flood, a river is re routed, or a bird carries seeds in its feathers and drops
the seeds in new location during the birds migration. The species of the previous geographic location
also become reproductively isolated. The population then becomes two separate populations and
begins to change over time due to changes in the gene pool, environments, natural selection and
mutations. With this understanding it is possible to see that plate tectonics theory and continental drift
theory possibly resulted in allopatric speciation.
Continental drift was a theory offered by Alfred Wegener in 1912 that hypothesized that all the
continents at one time fit together as one land mass. Wegener, explained that the ends of each
continent could fit together like a puzzle and that over time the continents drifted apart. The model
explained why the same types of fossils occur in sedimentary rock on both sides of the vast Atlantic
Ocean (Star, 2008, pg. 250), in other words allopatric speciation. Wegener s theory did not have a
supporting geological mechanism. Many years later and advances in technology brought about the
plate tectonics theory. Essentially it says: the earth surface is covered by a series of crustal plates the
ocean floors are continually moving, spreading from the

Contributive Causes Of The American Revolution
Without the American Revolution, the United States would not exist.
Before the American Revolution, the nation was a collection of 13 British colonies that were united by
the British monarchy. During this time it was ruled by British Parliament which was 3500 miles away
and a journey by ship that was 27 days long in the ideal situation but could be up to 6 8 weeks. All of
the colonies with the exception of Georgia were formed by people trying to escape some form of
persecution. One of the main contributive factors to the American Revolution was the Intolerable Acts
(or otherwise known in Great Britian as the Coercive Acts); which included the Boston Port Act, the
Massachusetts Government Act, the Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act.
The Boston Port Act was passed by parliament on March 31, 1774. This Act was designed to punish
the inhabitants of Boston, Massachusetts for the incident that would later become known as the
Boston Tea Party. The British Parliament demanded that the city s residents pay for the nearly $1
million worth (in today s money) of tea dumped in to Boston Harbor during the Boston Tea Party. This
act closed the port of Boston so tightly that the colonists could not even bring hay in from
Charlestown to give to their starving horses. Only food and firewood were permitted into the port. The
events leading up to this act included the Boston Massacre which occurred on December 16, 1773.
This Act was the first, and the easiest to enforce of

Mozart Research Paper
As we all go through school, we seem to hear the name Mozart come up quite a bit. Everyone seems
to know the name and know a few things about him, but what was he really like? What did his music
sound like? Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was an Austrian composer, keyboard player, violinist, violist,
and conductor. He was born in Salzburg Austria in 1756, and died in 1791. Wolfgang is commonly
known as a child prodigy . At a very young age, he was taught harpsichord, violin and organ by his
father, and was presented in concerts before the royalty of Europe by the age of 6. (Ellsberg) At the
age of thirteen Wolfgang had already written symphonies, concertos, and sonatas and was known all
around Europe. Mozart is still known by many as the world s greatest musical genius. Wolfgang was
born to Leopold and Anna Maria Mozart on January 27th, 1756. Leopold, his father studied
philosophy, but never finished school. (Solomon) He later became a very talented violinist and
organist. Leopold and Anna Maria had seven children together, but only two survived, Wolfgang and
his older sister Maria Anna. (Solomon) Leopold was responsible for his children s education, and also
was the one to teach them music. Throughout his life, Wolfgang had written over 600 pieces of music.

was always fascinated with the subject of death. Of course he wrote all of his own music, but in this

Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs What is religious persecution? At the beginning of this
project, I thought religious persecution was a black and white topic with a clear definition. I thought
that religious persecution was simply the persecution of a group because of their religious faith.
However, I discovered that there are no simple explanations of religious persecution, and it is a much
more complex and controversial issue than I had imagined. In fact, some events categorized as
religious persecution reveal only shades of grey and ambiguities and do not neatly fit this simple
definition. I wanted others to come to this same understanding. Therefore, I have formulated my own
definition of religious persecution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 21. Temperament As An Explanation Of Adolescent Risk 1.Temperament Temperament is defined as a characteristic mode of behaviour or reaction of a person or an animal (Coleman 2009). Temperament effects many aspects of life and is a broad concept that cannot be directly measured, so many researchers have attempted to measure indirectly e.g. in gambling behaviour (Caspi 2001). Although considered innate, it has been shown that it can change to some degree (Moffet et. al 2011). An important aspect of temperament in relation to risk taking behaviour is that of self control. Temperament as an explanation of adolescent risk taking has some evidence to support it. To look at risk taking behaviours, Caspi (2011) studied the temperament s effect on gambling. They observed a sample of three year olds to classify them into five temperament categories. They later conducted face to face interviews with the same group at 21 and 32 years old. They found that children who were classified as under controlled at age 3 were two times more likely to display disorganised gambling behaviour compared to the well adjusted group. These findings were independent of intelligence and socio economic status. Moffet et al. (2011) did a longitudinal observational study on children from birth until 32 years old, looking at self control . This was to assess whether children s self control levels predicted health issues, wealth outcomes, and criminal convictions. In contrast measuring the percentage of a household budget that goes to food is could be a good indicator. Since 2000, the percentage of household budget spent on food has declined, meaning higher expenditure on discretionary goods and services. This indicates that Indonesia s urban regions are getting richer faster than the impression expressed with the CPI (East Asia, 2015). Throughout our lab we made modifications to the calorimeter to increase the percent of energy captured by the water. Energy is the ability to do work or the ability to move or produce change in matter (Castro). Energy is always conserved; it cannot be destroyed or created. When a ball is flying through the air it has kinetic energy. It has ability to do work and to act with other object when it hits another figure. Kinetic energy is energy that is in motion or is doing work. A cup sitting on a table has potential energy. If you knock the cup off the table gravity will ... It is completely independent of whether the reaction takes place in a series of steps or all at once, this is know as Hess Law. Some reactions give off so much energy that they are explosive, and some only give off a little bit of heat. Other reactions don t take place until we add heat from the surroundings (Enthalpy). Calorimetry is the science connected with determining the changes in energy of a system by measuring the heat exchanged with the surroundings (The Physics Classroom). Thankfully ,Dr. Mills answered my questions as he intimated that in a liberal arts education set up, one gains character traits that will not only come in handy when looking for a job but that will also make one a great critical thinker with an open mind. Multilingual search engines typically consist of a crawler which traverses the web, retrieves the required web page in the desire languages. It provides front end user interface, which can be used for selecting language for query submission. The way the query is fired leads into two types of search Cross language information retrieval and Multi language information retrieval. In cross language retrieval the user query is machine translated into multiple language queries automatically as per user selection and then fired. In multi language retrieval the user has to provide queries in multiple languages to fetch the web documents in different languages. Also in some search engine the web page is machine translated and forwarded to the user. NLP is still in the expansion phase and has to make advances in it, research is going on all over world. Experiment was done with top rated multilingual search engine to access parallel pages but could not find it. As a YouTube user, advertising is a pain and I try to avoid it whenever possible, but it could be much worse and is generally non intrusive as possible. Some videos provide a flash overlay at the bottom of the video that displays an advertisement similar to the Google ad words advertisements that appear when using Google for searching. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act requires the owners of content to notify websites when their copyrights are infringed. This works for YouTube because the responsibility lies with the copyright owners to police the site and notify them when they see their material posted, but this places extra burden with those copyright holders. But if YouTube has to scan the vast numbers of videos uploaded every minute on its site, the concept of YouTube would not work because users expect their videos to be posted immediately. 3. Assume you were a manufacturer of sporting goods, and wanted to use YouTube videos as a marketing tool to establish your brand. What concerns would you have about using YouTube? Video advertisements have a response rate of 0.4%, which is still greater than regular web advertisements such as banner ads, but is not an impressive number if I were a sporting goods manufacturer looking to use YouTube video ads as a major part of my advertising budget. I can expect that a large portion of the viewing audience would skip or block out my advertisement. The return on investment is potentially very small. Another concern I would have would be copyright issues, especially since 25% of the videos on YouTube contain copyrighted material and make up possibly more than half of the total views. • 37. Evolutionary Concepts Activity 6 Essay Evolutionary Concepts Activity 6 1. Evolutionary theory describes how populations change over time due to changes in the gene pool. There are several mechanisms that can change a gene pool and allow evolution to occur. Natural selection, mutation, gene flow and genetic drift are some of the driving forces behind evolutionary change. Natural selection and genetic drift are the mechanisms that decrease genetic variation, whereas gene flow and mutation are the driving mechanism to increase genetic variation. Natural selection is basically the understanding that the environment can not support unlimited population growth, and not all organisms are able to reproduce to their full potential due to trait variation. For example, a black fly may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Allopatric speciation occurs due to a geographic isolation process such as when a pond might dry up and create two ponds, a flood, a river is re routed, or a bird carries seeds in its feathers and drops the seeds in new location during the birds migration. The species of the previous geographic location also become reproductively isolated. The population then becomes two separate populations and begins to change over time due to changes in the gene pool, environments, natural selection and mutations. With this understanding it is possible to see that plate tectonics theory and continental drift theory possibly resulted in allopatric speciation. Continental drift was a theory offered by Alfred Wegener in 1912 that hypothesized that all the continents at one time fit together as one land mass. Wegener, explained that the ends of each continent could fit together like a puzzle and that over time the continents drifted apart. The model explained why the same types of fossils occur in sedimentary rock on both sides of the vast Atlantic Ocean (Star, 2008, pg. 250), in other words allopatric speciation. Wegener s theory did not have a supporting geological mechanism. Many years later and advances in technology brought about the plate tectonics theory. Essentially it says: the earth surface is covered by a series of crustal plates the ocean floors are continually moving, spreading from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Contributive Causes Of The American Revolution Without the American Revolution, the United States would not exist. Before the American Revolution, the nation was a collection of 13 British colonies that were united by the British monarchy. During this time it was ruled by British Parliament which was 3500 miles away and a journey by ship that was 27 days long in the ideal situation but could be up to 6 8 weeks. All of the colonies with the exception of Georgia were formed by people trying to escape some form of persecution. One of the main contributive factors to the American Revolution was the Intolerable Acts (or otherwise known in Great Britian as the Coercive Acts); which included the Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, the Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act. The Boston Port Act was passed by parliament on March 31, 1774. This Act was designed to punish the inhabitants of Boston, Massachusetts for the incident that would later become known as the Boston Tea Party. The British Parliament demanded that the city s residents pay for the nearly $1 million worth (in today s money) of tea dumped in to Boston Harbor during the Boston Tea Party. This act closed the port of Boston so tightly that the colonists could not even bring hay in from Charlestown to give to their starving horses. Only food and firewood were permitted into the port. The events leading up to this act included the Boston Massacre which occurred on December 16, 1773. This Act was the first, and the easiest to enforce of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the beginning of this project, I thought religious persecution was a black and white topic with a clear definition. I thought that religious persecution was simply the persecution of a group because of their religious faith. However, I discovered that there are no simple explanations of religious persecution, and it is a much more complex and controversial issue than I had imagined. In fact, some events categorized as religious persecution reveal only shades of grey and ambiguities and do not neatly fit this simple definition. I wanted others to come to this same understanding.
