Fossil Fuels Vs. Renewable Energy Essay
Abstract The world can t be imagined without IC Engines ,as their applications are wider in various
fields. And mainly used input for this engines are fossil fuels. But the challenge in this is decreasing
rate of resources. The fossil fuels may not be available after some years if they used in the same way
.Not only the fossil but also the electric power is the non renewable energy, This paper concentrates to
run the engine without fossil fuels or electricity.
Keywords IC Engines, fossil fuels , non renewable energy
I. INTRODUCTION
In today s motorized life , It s difficult to live without motor (Engines) and the main source of it s
input power is fossil fuels partly electric power. In future these fuels or electricity may not be
available widely as they are non renewable energies. So, it may be difficult to use engine with the
fuels. Not only the problem of lack of resources but also but also they pollutes the environment. If the
fossil fuels are used in this way for some more years ,It may difficult to breath in the future and many
things which are harmful to the earth may happen like global warming .this may leads in danger to the
lives of creatures. To solve this problems compressed air technology (CAT) was invented, and again
the problem in this is input power. The air may be freely available in the atmosphere , but it needs to
be compressed to use and the power it needs for compression is electrical energy , which is also a non
renewable energy.

Olympic Dam Mine Research Paper
The Olympic Dam Mine is notorious for being one of the biggest mines in South Australia, and the
wide range of minerals obtained from the mine. From miners, to engineers, the Olympic Dam Mine
has created many jobs for South Australians. As well as this increase, South Australia and Australia
have benefited significantly from the mine economically, and created many bonds with other countries
through trading. The mine has recently created plans to expand and, although the plans may have been
controversial throughout South Australia, this initiative could not only help South Australia, but the
world.
The Olympic Dam Line or the BHP Olympic Dam, located 560 km north west of Adelaide, is in
central South Australia, right next to the Lake Torrens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of Uranium s largest environmental impacts is the quality and quantity of surface water near
Uranium mines. Once Uranium is extracted from mills, a significant amount of Uranium products are
released into rivers and lakes. This significantly increases the concentration of Uranium in surface
water. Radon, a product produced from the decaying of Uranium, if consumed by the animals, can
create serious lung and stomach issues. Inhaling radon has a similar effect. Uranium, once the material
dissolves into the soil, can also significantly influence the soil quality in a given area. Soil, after this
process, can t provide moisture for plant growth and many underground living organisms die.
Considering the Olympic Dam Mine is next to a large river, these issues are occurring more and more

Advertising And Its Effect On Advertising
When comparing advertisements, certain ones will appeal to people differently. Advertisements are
made to get someone s attention in a quick manor. Some people are more enticed to humor, while
others could be drawn to a more sexual image, or something more creative that requires intelligence to
create and understand. First, by taking a sip of the Pepsi advertisement, I noticed the horizontal
advertisement has a gentle light blue background. The Pepsi logo sits in the corner, not drawing much
attention to itself. In the center of this ad is a Pepsi can. Next to the Pepsi can is a red can with a silver
curved thick line going up the side from the bottom of the can to the top, resembling a Coke can. The
difference between these two cans is that a straw going straight into the Pepsi can, while there is a
straw with arms pushing itself away from the Coke can. The background has a slight gradation to a
lighter, almost white color behind the Pepsi can. This makes the Pepsi can look as if it has a glow. It
demands the attention to be drawn to that can. This advertisement is trying to say that Pepsi is better
than Coke, without actually saying it. A broader look at it could be that it s saying that Pepsi is better
than the leading pop. The audience of this advertisement is not only people who drink pop, but also
people who are exposed to the media, and see it on television or in magazines. This advertisement
probably gets the attention of people who enjoy humorous advertisements

Body Art As Self Representation
Orlan: Body as Identity ARTH 102 Yuanyuan Chen Instructor: Dr. Geoffrey Carr April 5th,2016 Body
art as self representation has become more pervasive in popular culture within the past 50 years in
western cultures. From the body as the model of Greek artistry to 20th and 21st century punk rock
safety pins as facial art and permanent tattooing, the body is a canvas upon which artists purvey their
message, whatever it may be. As such, Orlan is a fearless artist on the world stage, displaying her
body as a shifting, ever changing human identity, and body art as self representation and self
expression. At its core, cosmetic surgery, medical technology, physical and biochemical status of
ethical issues are prevalent in modern society. Change of appearance in human development appears
in one artistic expressional event after another, such as: Austronesian tattoo, tattooed, Western grant
wash and circumcision, long necked tribe neck plus a circle of copper rings, the wrapping of Chinese
Ming and Qing Dynasty feet for small size, the obsessional fitness of modern society with fasting and
its obsession with a set standard of female physical beauty ....... Its main purpose is nothing more than
to improve the soul level, to define race, and cater to the beauty zeitgeist of the times. An external
change such as surgery or tattooing often produces an unnatural experience and a period of physical
and mental suffering, or continuous self restraint before they can reach the

Essay about A Comparison of Impressionism and...
A Comparison of Impressionism and Post Impressionism
In this essay, I will contrast and compare the two art movements, Impressionism, and Post
Impressionism. I will be concentrating on the works of the two leading artists of these styles Claude
Monet and Vincent van Gogh.
The impressionist movement is often considered to mark the beginning of the modern period of art. It
was developed in France during the late 19th century. The impressionist movement arose out of
dissatisfaction with the classical, dull subjects and clean cut precise techniques of painting. They
preferred to paint outdoors concentrating more on landscapes and street scenes, and began to paint
ordinary everyday people and liked to show the effects in natural light. ... Show more content on

This is where we can see the painting still holding onto a touch of the more classical style, but is
achieved in a much more impressionistic fashion the mood of the painting is quite peaceful and
calming, and the relaxed people and light colours give it a happy and uplifting feel. I think that Monet
through his painting was trying to capture a typical laid back French scene. He is also trying to break
away from the paintings of the past, that were more sombre and didn?t show ordinary people and their
lives. I really enjoyed studying this painting and feel that Monet has created a piece which has many
interesting and intriguing features and touches, such as the light bouncing across the water, and shows
what a skilled and talented painter he was.
The Road Bridge at Argentil painted in 1874 was another of Claude Monet?s pieces. It is of a river
scene, which has a small sailing boat as its main point of interest. The boat is painted in just a dark
shade but this contrasts well with the lighter surroundings. We look on this piece from the riverbank,
with the small boat perfectly positioned just slightly to the left, which allows us to have an
uninterrupted view of the long bridge with its different shapes and curves. The bridge helps give an
impression of perspective and leads your eye onto the house, small boat and riverbank in the
background. The

Essay on Comparing Dubliners and To the Lighthouse
Comparing Dubliners and To the Lighthouse
In Dubliners and To the Lighthouse, James Joyce and Virginia Woolf explore the depressing results of
lives devoid of growth or meaning versus those who dare to live their lives in spite of all strife and
adversity. Joyce and Woolf are both concerned with the meaninglessness of stagnant lives, the first
operating in pre WWI Ireland, the second in England during and after the war. The Dead and To the
Lighthouse both reveal the despair of lives that occupy but do not fill the short span of time between
birth and inevitable death.
With The Dead , Joyce brings his lament for Ireland s plight to its depressing yet strangely peaceful
conclusion. Like all the previous stories in Dubliners, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the dinner table, the party begins to discuss the greatest legitimate opera (209) singers of the past
and present. Soon the reader must realize that all these celebrated figures are either long since dead, or
living singers who are so obscure that only a single person has ever heard of them. It seems that the
present society is totally devoid of all beauty, for the glory of the past is lost, and the buds and timid
blooms of the present are fatally obscured.
Yet still these people gather yearly around the massive banquet table to engage again and again in the
same sort of conversation, as Gabriel himself notes:
But yet, continued Gabriel, his voice falling into a softer inflection, there are always in gatherings
such as this sadder thoughts that will recur to our minds: thoughts of the past, of youth, of changes, of
absent faces that we miss here to night. Our path through life is strewn with many such sad memories:
and were we to brood upon them always we could not find the heart to go on bravely with our work
among the living. We have all of us living duties and living affections which claim, and rightly claim,
our strenuous endeavors. (214)
Gabriel s speech to the assembled party is in quite a strange tone. Like many other characters in
Dubliners, these people are preoccupied with thoughts of those who have not lasted another
Christmas. With his talk of our work among the

Martin Heidigger s Response To Modernity Analysis
To understand Martin Heidigger s response to Modernity one would have to examine the relationship
between their notions of Man. Martin Heidigger s concept of Man, a being in the world, is very
different from the Modern view of man as a thinking being. One believes that understanding comes
from a purely subject object perspective wherein the understanding of the world around us is
performed by our internal, completely separate, I because it is perfect and known innately while the
other believes that to be a being is to actively Be , which is the same as Heidigger s notion of Being,
and to Be is to exist or to be engaged in the world therefore connecting being, Being and the world
forming the concept of Dasein or a being in the world. To understand Heidigger s response one would
have to first understand what it is he s responding to. Cogito Ergo Sum summarizes what the Cartesian
man is all about. The idea that to exist is to think separates the world into the inner world and the
outside world; this idea resulted from Descartes search for an absolute truth which does not base its
validity on the external world, because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, he looked into what is a human person because when Plato and the other classical
philosophers stated what being was, everybody else just automatically assumed that people just
understood the concept of a being. To this end, Heidigger came up with the belief of Dasein or, Being
in the world which basically meant that to Be, as in to literally exist, as a being involves the act of
engagement in the world we find ourselves

for himself despite barriers that he knows he will face, but still continues to reach for his goals.
Disability will not affect chris, he will move past it. Christopher achieves his goals because of his
never ending determination. Diana French describes how literacy is power when she writes Literacy
involves a continuum of learning to enable an individual to achieve his or her goals, to develop his or
her knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in the wider society. (Literacy Is Power)The
depiction of this quote is that continuous sequences of different elements will let one achieve their
goals. By creating goals, we are also achieving many new experiences along the way and learning a
variety of new things. The same is with Christopher. A series of events allow him to achieve his goals.
For Example, going through his father s belongings even though he knew he would get in trouble,
resulted in a good outcome, as he found his mother s letters.

Heart Of Darkness Vs Apocalypse Now Essay
Apocalypse Now vs. Heart of Darkness A Scene Analysis We never realize how important something
is to us until it s lost, and the characters in both Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness are no
exception. Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is a novel about a character named Marlow, who is on
a ship along with a sea crew. He shares his adventures in Africa as his curiosity about the man named
Kurtz motivates him to search for him. Meanwhile, Apocalypse Now takes a twist on the tale, taking
place during the Vietnam War. Captain Willard is a soldier part of the U.S. forces sent to search
Vietnam to search for Kurtz, a man who has gone rogue from the army and kept himself hidden from
others, and execute him. Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now both illustrate a similar scene, the
helmsman s death along with Clean s and Chief s death in respective stories, as well as deviate from
each other while retaining identical meanings that bring together an underlying message between these
two stories. Good and evil are comparable to a wolf in sheep s clothing, or in Heart of Darkness,

Conrad comes to the conclusion that we should understand what s truly bad and good in the world and
the importance of what we have and through his use of reversal of colors and Marlow s personality
respectively from the Helmsman s death. CoppolaCoppla expands this approach from the deviations
made through the movie, as Clean s death by bullets and his tape by his family signifying the evil
overrunning the good. Meanwhile, the Chief s grieving and rage to the show the sorrow after losing
what we lost in the harsh world surrounding around us . The underlying meaning that both authors try
to convey together is that we must be considerate of our actions. What people and ourselves do to each
other may be evil, and as a result, we lose the good things that are precious to

Tim Berners Lee s The World Wide Web
Introduction
In 1990, Tim Berners Lee who invented the World Wide Web and gave theoretical and technological
background for a new hypertext based linked information system, pointed out the problem of
keywords. Searching for a particular information, document or webpage is a far more complex and
longer process then it should be, mainly because two people never seem to choose the same keyword
for the same concept. (Berners Lee, 1990) This problem becomes more and more acute as we enter the
age of the Social Web characterized by collaborative and continuous creation, adaptation and
alteration of content. The first generation of web tools, between 1990 and 2003, allowed users to
publish information on a static page which could be read using ... Show more content on

However, the problem with keyword selection has remained largely unsolved, although social tagging
was a big step forward.
When users are searching for information on the web, they evaluate results tertieved before planning
the next search procedure. When evaluating, users are able to make connections between information
pieces from text, image or video based content and make associations between words. The goal of the
third generation of the web is to make more data available online readable and analyzable for
machines as well. The Semantic Web will bring structure to the meaningful content of Web pages by
using metadata and ontology, creating an environment where software agents can rapidly answer
complex queries of users. (Berners Lee et al. 2001) The source of this environment is already there:
we have huge amount of data available online. Three components help to transform existing data and
store them as semantic data (Herman, 2006, 2008):
Universal Resource Identifier (URI) which is a subject or an object;
Resource Description Framework (RDF) triples (s,p,o) which means a labeled connection between
two resources, where s , p and o stand for subject, property/predicate and object;
Ontology, a common metadata vocabulary that defines the concepts and relationships used to describe
and represent an area of knowledge. It is used for property characterization, term equivalence analysis
and reasoning

Essay on Media Violence in Children s Lives
Media Violence in Children s Lives
During the past decade, America has witnessed an alarming increase in the incidence of violence in
the lives of children. On a daily basis, children in America are victims of violence, as witnesses to
violent acts in their homes or communities, or as victims of abuse, neglect, or personal assault. The
causes of violent behavior in society are complex and interrelated. Among the significant contributors
are poverty, racism, unemployment, illegal drugs, inadequate or abusive parenting practices, and real
life adult models of violent problem solving behavior. At the same time that there has been an increase

The Nature And The Realization Of Conversion Essay
These two major pieces, the nature and the realization of conversion are reflected in what we believe,
our theology. So Luther further reminds us Conversion changes man so that he can accept grace.
(Tappert, 1959:537.83) But not just any old kind of grace, but the grace of God! Luther put forth a
very Lutheran theological understanding of conversion, in which we are saved by grace through faith,
which is a gift to us (humankind) from God. But God does all the acting; we are just merely
beneficiaries of God s grace and mercy.
For the conversion of our corrupt will, which is nothing else than a resuscitation of it from spiritual
death, is only and solely the work of God (just as also the resuscitation in the resurrection of the body
must be ascribed to God alone), as has been fully set forth above and proved by manifest testimonies
of Holy Scripture. (Tappert, 1959:537:87)
Tappert goes on to confirm,
how God in conversion changes stubborn and unwilling into willing men through the drawing of the
Holy Ghost, and that after such conversion, in the daily exercise of repentance, the regenerate will of
man is not idle, but also cooperates in all the works of the Holy Ghost, which He does through us, has
already been sufficiently explained above. Tappert, 1959:537.88)
So also
Again, when Luther says that man behaves in a purely passive way in his conversation (that is, that
man does not do anything toward it and that man only suffers that which God, works in

Psychoanalytical Theories That Show How Healthy Development
Christos Vagenas
Azusa Pacific University The stages of development are psychoanalytical theories that show how
healthy development in an individual should be from the age of adolescence to adult hood as
described in the Invitation to the Life Span by Kathleen Berger (Berger, 2010). I interviewed an
eighteen year old female who is currently a freshman at a four year university, the youngest in her
family. In addition, I interviewed a man in his early fifties who has two kids and a wife. This
individual owns a business that he started thirty years ago. These interviews and responses coincide
and differentiate in many ways. This portrays a contrast in their developmental stages, while including
how their faith has been a key factor in their development.
Sentence
The eighteen year old interviewee comes from a family of five with two older siblings, a mother and
father. During the interview, the eighteen year old interviewee stated that she felt that she is more
knowledgeable with her life experiences. This relates to the social learning theory where an
individuals behavior and knowledge is emphasized through their observations from birth to adult hood
(Berger, 2010). She included that she enjoys social learning because she is an adult, but she still has
time to find out who she is and what she wants to be. However, she still is dependent on her parents,
and living under their roof and finances. Thus, resulting in her not having the full college experience

Vietnam War As A Civic Duty And A True Testament
Vietnam
In the 1960s, America found itself divided among various social matters. Conformity, civil rights, and
the Vietnam war. While the older generations viewed fighting in the war as a civic duty and a true
testament to what it meant to be an American , the counterculture did not share this belief. Regardless
of how anyone felt about the war, it had escalated to epic proportions and as one citizen put it, It was
on our mind every single hour of the day (PBS CITE). Vietnam was the first war ever to be televised,
and with that came constant coverage and a growing concern from young Americans. In addition, the
military draft made matters worse by forced the youth America to fight. By 1968, the war in Vietnam
had claimed over 15,000 American lives (CITE PBS). Between the draft and the growing American
casualties, greater tension in the US was created. Young Americans had to ask themselves if the war
was worth fighting.
Opposition to the draft and draft evasion was the central plot element in Hair with Claude s indecision
of whether or not to serve his country in Vietnam a war he does not believe in (Young, 1993, p. 71).
Claude represent most of the youth of America and their confusion which was ignited by the war. His
internal conflict is depicted in the song Where do I Go : Where do I go/ Follow the children (...) Is
there an answer / In their sweet faces / That tells me why I live and die (SONG CITE). Here, Claude

Effects Of Immigrants In The 1920s
Fear and greed pump through the veins of our sweet American people causing a boundary between the
truth and the presumption of immigrants. Immigrants have always been the friendly strangers who ve
come to enjoy America s freedom with ambitious mindsets. However, as soon as the immigrants
started affecting the future of true Americans, these friendly strangers instantly were seen as evil
intruders. The rumors spread of the evil doings of immigrants, which lead to the presumption that
immigrants only had wrong intentions when migrating to our country. Many Americans sought to find
a reason to kick the immigrants out of their country because the immigrants migrating had no benefits
to them. The presumption of immigrants consisted of the facts that they took jobs from others or were
threats to the well being of America. In order to protect American citizens from these alleged
wrongdoings, the government chose to limit the amount of immigrants through acts, such as the
National Origins Act and the Emergency Quota Act. Furthermore, the government used the ideas
rooted from fear and greed of the surrounding citizens to inspire this idea of setting up limitations,
which led to to the abhorrent treatment of immigrants in the 1920 s.
Fear is a contagious virus, which infected the citizens of America and as time went on the virus

The Marvel And Dc Worlds
There are multiple imaginary universes that have been created but the most commonly known and

difference between these named superpowered heroes are which group they belong to, The Justice

Marvel has many different people that contribute to the making of their characters but the main person
who gets most of the credit is former chairman of Marvel, Stan Lee. Stan Lee is well known author,
publisher, editor, television producer and actor. He made many hero groups such as the fantastic four
and the X Men but the one that has launched itself as the biggest group are The Avengers. The
Avengers are Stan Lee s prize turkey. Not only has this group of heros brought Lee s name into fame,
but it gave him great money. Without Lee, the Avengers world would be nothing and some would say,
vice versa. DC, or Detective Comics, does not have a well known face like Marvel but instead many

shameful, bungling drunk. The essay can be outlined in eight separate scenarios, which they will
explain the message the author is given the reader. We begin with mother, she tolerated husband
behavior and never talked about his problem to anyone. Instead of seeking for help or advice, she kept
her husband s shameful problem a secret, at least in appearances. A better mother would have talk to

his plead. Although, he tried to conceal his drinking, he was never really trying to hide it. He knew
that they (wife and children) would never leave and they will always take him back. He himself was
never trying to change or get better. He would stop temporarily to keep things on an even quo, but he

as skirts by men and women body wrap blankets acting as coats or ceremonial tokens, loin cloths,

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk Essay
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (March 12, 1881 November 10, 1938), Turkish soldier and statesman, was the
founder and first President of the Republic of Turkey. He was born in the Ottoman city of Selânik
(now Thessaloniki in Greece), where his birthplace is the Turkish Consulate and is also preserved as a
museum. In accordance with the then prevalent Turkish custom, he was given the single name
Mustafa. His father, Ali Riza (Efendi) was a customs officer who died when Mustafa was a child, his
mother was Zübeyde (Hanim). Ataturk s Early career Mustafa studied at the military secondary school
in Selânik, where he was given the additional name Kemal ( perfection ) by his math teacher in
recognition of his academic brilliance. As Mustafa Kemal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His area of command again included the Gallipoli area, and he was thus the Ottoman commander
against the invading allied forces during the Gallipoli landings by British, French and ANZAC forces
in April 1915. Here he made his name as a brilliant military commander, although he was extremely
wasteful of the lives of his troops, who died in large numbers in human wave attacks. Nevertheless he
was the first Ottoman military commander to defeat a western army in living memory, and became a
national hero, awarded the title Pasha (commander). During 1917 and 1918 Kemal Pasha was posted
to the Caucasus front fighting the Russian forces with some success, and then to the Hejaz, where the
Arab Revolt against Ottoman rule was in progress. He became increasingly critical of the incompetent
conduct of the war by the Sultan s government, and also of German domination of the Empire. He
resigned his command, but eventually agreed to return to command Ottoman forces in Palestine. In
October 1918 the Ottomans capitulated to the Allies, and Kemal became one of the leaders of the
party which favoured a policy of defending the Turkish speaking heartlands of the Empire, while
agreeing to withdraw from all the non Turkish territories. Turkish nationalist sentiment was aroused by
the Greek occupation of Izmir (Smyrna) in May 1919, in accordance with the Treaty of Sevres (this
Treaty was signed by the Sultan under Allied duress but never ratified by the Ottoman parliament.)

A Brief Note On Apathy And The Death Of The Road
Apathy
Imagine you are driving down the road late to work. On the side of the road you see that two cars have
been in a serious accident. You almost pull over, when you remember how late you are for work. So
instead, you keep driving telling yourself that someone else who has more time will stop and help
them. When you finally arrive at work, you see that a homeless woman is sitting near the building you
work at asking for money. You re already seventeen minutes late for work, and you don t have time to
dig out your wallet and find spare change. Plus, the woman could just be manipulating people into
thinking she s homeless to get money, so why help her and waste your money on someone you can t
guarantee needs the help? Other people can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So when a teenager acts out in apathetic defiance saying I don t care about my grades, and I m not
fixing them because school sucks their brains are processing the future actions they can take to fix
their grades next term instead of dwelling on what their current grades are. While their parents brains
are processing this information on a much higher thinking level, taking their person experiences, guilt
for not pushing their child harder, and feeling bad for their child and their poor grades into account.
However the parent s perspective on this issue can come across as overbearing, causing the teen to
resort to an even more apathetic defiance, thus making the situation worse. Another example of this is
with apathy as a pretense. For example when people use apathy to push their feelings away. Instead of
communicating, sometimes people choose to resort to not communicating because they just don t care
anymore and they don t want to make the situation worse. However in doing so, the lack of
communication makes things more complicated, leading to even more chaos and arguments then there
were in the first place, making it harder and harder to care as things get more complicated. Now if you
mix this in with the different opinions your brains form, then each family member is going to be
holding onto their

Forbidden Love In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet Still...
How relevant can a play written over 400 years ago be in today s society? Romeo and Juliet is a play
written by William Shakespeare around 1595. It tells the story of an old feud between the house of
Capulet and the house of Montague. This feud could only be broken by the forbidden love and death
of their children. So, because of the forbidden love, instability in youth, and pointless feuding, the
story of Romeo and Juliet is actually really relevant in today s society.
Frist of all, forbidden Loves can be caused by many different issues. For example, forbidden love can
be caused by differences in race, religion, social standing, gender preference, or in the case of Romeo
and Juliet, family feuding. As a result, people, especially teens, ... Show more content on

For instance, the prologue of Romeo and Juliet says, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star
crossed lovers take their life, Whose misadventured piteous overthrows Doth with their death bury
their parents strife. Here the writer proves, that the fighting between these two families only ended by
the tragic suicide of their children. As a result, pointless feuding usually leads to revenge. For
instance, according to the telegraph Killings of black men by US police officers lead to revenge
shootings across America . This is similar to when Romeo avenges Mercutio by killing Tybalt. In any
event, pointless feuds are a terrible idea that usually ends in tragedy!
It s easy to see how Romeo and Juliet are still relevant in today s society. Of course, it may be true that
the language is quite confusing, it doesn t change the meaning of their words. Moreover, just because
arranged marriages are not a normal practice in America doesn t mean the larger issues presented in
Shakespeare s tragic tale are not. So, from the forbidden love to the instability in youth to feuding, this
400 plus year old play is still relevant in today s society. In fact, considering our track record, I m
willing to bet it always will

The Effects Of Neutral And Non Neutral Toys On Children
The Effects of Neutral and Non Neutral Toys on Children
Our nation has improved rapidly in the aspect of a mutual goal for gender equality. Ever since World
War 1, women have had many more responsibilities and rights to heed to. Although this is a
significant feat, America lacks to disregard the source of the very dilemma. At exceedingly young
ages, new generations are being taught by their parents and peers, strict gender roles and expectations
through the most seemingly innocent source: their toys. Cnn.com relate on the subject, When children
see and hear gender labeling from their parents, peers, siblings, grandparents, and even the toy aisles
themselves, these messages will sway a child s interest away from some toys and towards ... Show

Effortlessly associated with the varying genders, one often pictures a pink tiara for girls and likewise a
blue cape for boys. The Guardian.com quotes, the connection of blue with boys and pink with girls is
relatively recent and goes on to recite a Sears Catalougue, from 1965 to 1985, pink was so strongly
associated with femininity that it was vehemently rejected by feminist parents for their daughters
clothing. The well known divide between the two antagonistic worlds of girl and boy are steadily
sharpening into an almost unyielding force that will be impossible to reverse. Children will continue
to grow up with the understanding that they mustn t breach the barrier or they will be persecuted for it.
In adulthood, the fight for equal treatment is still a large issue and the continuing increase and support
for it in young years only amplifies the problem. Hand in hand with the color discrimination, the
constant fight between masculinity and femininity is ever present. These labels are often devised by
the impressions that color often displays, dark colors are automatically associated with the male
gender while a more bright and lighter colors scheme is original for females. Naturally, these color
stereotypes are parallel to the various traits displayed by men and women. Men are commonly
identified for being more active and aggressive in gameplay, while women are classified by nurturing
and appearance focused activities. What is even worse

Literary Devices In Ambush By Tim O Brien
Traumatized Literary devices are what make the story come alive and give the reader a feeling of
actually being there. The literary devices increase a reader s interest in the story and also helps keep
the audience engaged. They help create a more fascinating plot. In the short story Ambush by TIm O
brien uses them to develop a character so much more. Mr. O brien used internal conflict, external
conflict, and flashback to put the reader in the character s shoes throughout the story. This helped us
see that the narrator thought the war was traumatizing. To begin, O brien used the literary device, Man
vs. Self, to relay that war is a traumatizing experience. One thing he said that shows this is, when I m
reading a newspaper or just sitting or just sitting alone in a room I ll look up and see the young man
coming out of the morning fog. He is trying to cope with it everyday that he had to kill a man that had
done no harm to him. He sees the young man walking past him often as constant reminder. He also

Belgium, Dominican Republic, and Israel are members of the International Monetary Fund (IMF),
World Trade Organization (WTO) and World Bank. These organizations in their own right are trying
to improve the economy by facilitating internationals trading (IMF) , reducing poverty around the
world (IMF), ensuring that trading flows smoothly and freely (WTO) and providing financial advice
to assist in economic advancement (World Bank). Countries that are members of the IMF, WTO and
World Bank, in my opinion believe that working together , following the organizations guidelines, can
improve the economy. Belgium works with other international and regional organizations, to
encourage economic cooperation and assistance to developing countries. Belgium is a key provider of
humanitarian, reconstruction, and development assistance in Africa, Afghanistan, and Syria. Belgium
is also the host country of the European Union (EU) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
and plays an important role in discussions between European foreign ministers and the Secretary of
State.
Dominican Republic, along with the United States as well as other Central American countries are part
of the Dominican Republic Central America United States Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA DR). This
agreement creates economic opportunities by eliminating tariffs, opening markets and reducing
barriers. It facilitates trade and investment among these countries and furthers regional integration.

Superfreakonomics Report
The book Superfreakonomics, by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, is basically just a collection
of stories that analyze certain aspects of our society/world, and evaluate why something is what it is or
how it can be changed. All solutions/evaluations made by the authors though, are from an economist s
point of view. This is one of the main reasons why I chose this book alongside the fact that some of
the stories inside I found to be quite intriguing. Topics discussed in the book ranged from why suicide
bombers should buy life insurance to how street prostitutes are like department store Santa clauses.
Despite the interesting topics discussed though, the main reason I chose this book was for the
economics viewpoint of the authors. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The authors bring up this idea is chapter two when they discuss the idea surrounding a tax on the
inheritance given from an elderly family member to the rest of their surviving family. While most
people without an economic mindset would instantly think that lowing the inheritance tax would be a
good idea, Levitt and Dubner presented a counter theory/argument. They proposed that if the
inheritance tax was decreased, theoretically, those people expecting a share of the inheritance would
have less drive to exert the time or effort to keep the elderly person in good health thus resulting in a
faster pay out of the inheritance. I found this to be quite interesting because I, before reading this, was
in the same boat as most others by thinking that the inheritance tax should not be very high. However,
after reading this, I would consider a minor increase in the inheritance tax to be justified because I
think that the lives of the elderly, especially family members, should be more important than the
inheritance that they leave behind. I wouldn t go too far though to raise the tax so high because I think
that there is a ceiling where there would just be no benefit in even having an inheritance at all. I think
that now, after reading this, I will think more closely when the time comes for any of my close family
to reach that stage of life where inheritance is even a discussion point, because I will want to make
sure that the inheritance is not getting in the way of the well being of the family

Providence Health And Services Organization
Providence Health Services was established over 158 years ago, in 1856, when Mother Joseph of the
Sacred Heart and four other Sisters of Providence arrived in the state of Washington and answered the
call for help in a new pioneer community. The community was newly established and had no schools,
hospitals, or other institutions of care, and the people were struggling to survive. In 1959 the sisters
included their charity works into their mission, creating the network of healthcare services we know
today. Providence is the second oldest non profit healthcare organization in Washington (Providence
Health Services, 2014). Providence s mission statement is, As people of Providence, we reveal God s
love for all, especially the sick and vulnerable, through our compassionate service. And their vision is

(Providence Health Services, 2014, para. 1). Through God s love anything is possible, and caring for
the sick and vulnerable is a powerful mission. Going hand in hand with their mission and vision,
Providence s core values are Compassion, Justice, Respect, Excellence, and Stewardship (Providence
Health Services, 2014, para. 3). Providence s mission, vision, and core values are based on the faith of
the founding sisters. The sisters of Providence aimed to help the poor and vulnerable and provide them

When doing the interview with a school administrator, she explained to me that the school that she

curriculum because Common Core standards let teachers know what students are expected to learn at
every grade level. This is an outline for teachers to use and it is very effective. She mentioned to me
that common core is great because after every math lesson there is an exit ticket that students must fill
out. The exit ticket is a type of formative assessment that teacher check to see how well the students
understood the concept. This is also given to students daily. The school administrator also mentioned
to me during the interview that the school must give students the English Language Arts and Math

From miners, to engineers, the Olympic Dam Mine has created many jobs for South Australians. As well as this increase, South Australia and Australia have benefited significantly from the mine economically, and created many bonds with other countries through trading. The mine has recently created plans to expand and, although the plans may have been controversial throughout South Australia, this initiative could not only help South Australia, but the world. Uranium, once the material dissolves into the soil, can also significantly influence the soil quality in a given area. • 5. Advertising And Its Effect On Advertising When comparing advertisements, certain ones will appeal to people differently. Advertisements are made to get someone s attention in a quick manor. Some people are more enticed to humor, while others could be drawn to a more sexual image, or something more creative that requires intelligence to create and understand. First, by taking a sip of the Pepsi advertisement, I noticed the horizontal advertisement has a gentle light blue background. The Pepsi logo sits in the corner, not drawing much attention to itself. In the center of this ad is a Pepsi can. Next to the Pepsi can is a red can with a silver curved thick line going up the side from the bottom of the can to the top, resembling a Coke can. The difference between these two cans is that a straw going straight into the Pepsi can, while there is a straw with arms pushing itself away from the Coke can. The background has a slight gradation to a lighter, almost white color behind the Pepsi can. This makes the Pepsi can look as if it has a glow. It demands the attention to be drawn to that can. This advertisement is trying to say that Pepsi is better than Coke, without actually saying it. A broader look at it could be that it s saying that Pepsi is better than the leading pop. The audience of this advertisement is not only people who drink pop, but also people who are exposed to the media, and see it on television or in magazines. This advertisement probably gets the attention of people who enjoy humorous advertisements ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Body Art As Self Representation Orlan: Body as Identity ARTH 102 Yuanyuan Chen Instructor: Dr. Geoffrey Carr April 5th,2016 Body art as self representation has become more pervasive in popular culture within the past 50 years in western cultures. From the body as the model of Greek artistry to 20th and 21st century punk rock safety pins as facial art and permanent tattooing, the body is a canvas upon which artists purvey their message, whatever it may be. As such, Orlan is a fearless artist on the world stage, displaying her body as a shifting, ever changing human identity, and body art as self representation and self expression. At its core, cosmetic surgery, medical technology, physical and biochemical status of ethical issues are prevalent in modern society. Change of appearance in human development appears in one artistic expressional event after another, such as: Austronesian tattoo, tattooed, Western grant wash and circumcision, long necked tribe neck plus a circle of copper rings, the wrapping of Chinese Ming and Qing Dynasty feet for small size, the obsessional fitness of modern society with fasting and its obsession with a set standard of female physical beauty ....... Its main purpose is nothing more than to improve the soul level, to define race, and cater to the beauty zeitgeist of the times. An external change such as surgery or tattooing often produces an unnatural experience and a period of physical and mental suffering, or continuous self restraint before they can reach the ... • 7. Essay about A Comparison of Impressionism and... A Comparison of Impressionism and Post Impressionism In this essay, I will contrast and compare the two art movements, Impressionism, and Post Impressionism. I will be concentrating on the works of the two leading artists of these styles Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh. The impressionist movement is often considered to mark the beginning of the modern period of art. It was developed in France during the late 19th century. The impressionist movement arose out of dissatisfaction with the classical, dull subjects and clean cut precise techniques of painting. They preferred to paint outdoors concentrating more on landscapes and street scenes, and began to paint ordinary everyday people and liked to show the effects in natural light. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where we can see the painting still holding onto a touch of the more classical style, but is achieved in a much more impressionistic fashion the mood of the painting is quite peaceful and calming, and the relaxed people and light colours give it a happy and uplifting feel. I think that Monet through his painting was trying to capture a typical laid back French scene. He is also trying to break away from the paintings of the past, that were more sombre and didn?t show ordinary people and their lives. I really enjoyed studying this painting and feel that Monet has created a piece which has many interesting and intriguing features and touches, such as the light bouncing across the water, and shows what a skilled and talented painter he was. The Road Bridge at Argentil painted in 1874 was another of Claude Monet?s pieces. It is of a river scene, which has a small sailing boat as its main point of interest. The boat is painted in just a dark shade but this contrasts well with the lighter surroundings. We look on this piece from the riverbank, with the small boat perfectly positioned just slightly to the left, which allows us to have an uninterrupted view of the long bridge with its different shapes and curves. The bridge helps give an impression of perspective and leads your eye onto the house, small boat and riverbank in the background. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay on Comparing Dubliners and To the Lighthouse Comparing Dubliners and To the Lighthouse In Dubliners and To the Lighthouse, James Joyce and Virginia Woolf explore the depressing results of lives devoid of growth or meaning versus those who dare to live their lives in spite of all strife and adversity. Joyce and Woolf are both concerned with the meaninglessness of stagnant lives, the first operating in pre WWI Ireland, the second in England during and after the war. The Dead and To the Lighthouse both reveal the despair of lives that occupy but do not fill the short span of time between birth and inevitable death. With The Dead , Joyce brings his lament for Ireland s plight to its depressing yet strangely peaceful conclusion. Like all the previous stories in Dubliners, ... It seems that the present society is totally devoid of all beauty, for the glory of the past is lost, and the buds and timid blooms of the present are fatally obscured. Yet still these people gather yearly around the massive banquet table to engage again and again in the same sort of conversation, as Gabriel himself notes: But yet, continued Gabriel, his voice falling into a softer inflection, there are always in gatherings such as this sadder thoughts that will recur to our minds: thoughts of the past, of youth, of changes, of absent faces that we miss here to night. Our path through life is strewn with many such sad memories: and were we to brood upon them always we could not find the heart to go on bravely with our work among the living. We have all of us living duties and living affections which claim, and rightly claim, our strenuous endeavors. (214) Gabriel s speech to the assembled party is in quite a strange tone. • 9. Martin Heidigger s Response To Modernity Analysis To understand Martin Heidigger s response to Modernity one would have to examine the relationship between their notions of Man. Martin Heidigger s concept of Man, a being in the world, is very different from the Modern view of man as a thinking being. One believes that understanding comes from a purely subject object perspective wherein the understanding of the world around us is performed by our internal, completely separate, I because it is perfect and known innately while the other believes that to be a being is to actively Be , which is the same as Heidigger s notion of Being, and to Be is to exist or to be engaged in the world therefore connecting being, Being and the world forming the concept of Dasein or a being in the world. To understand Heidigger s response one would have to first understand what it is he s responding to. Cogito Ergo Sum summarizes what the Cartesian man is all about. • 11. Heart Of Darkness Vs Apocalypse Now Essay Apocalypse Now vs. Heart of Darkness A Scene Analysis We never realize how important something is to us until it s lost, and the characters in both Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness are no exception. Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is a novel about a character named Marlow, who is on a ship along with a sea crew. He shares his adventures in Africa as his curiosity about the man named Kurtz motivates him to search for him. Meanwhile, Apocalypse Now takes a twist on the tale, taking place during the Vietnam War. Captain Willard is a soldier part of the U.S. forces sent to search Vietnam to search for Kurtz, a man who has gone rogue from the army and kept himself hidden from others, and execute him. Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now both illustrate a similar scene, the helmsman s death along with Clean s and Chief s death in respective stories, as well as deviate from each other while retaining identical meanings that bring together an underlying message between these two stories. • 12. Tim Berners Lee s The World Wide Web Introduction In 1990, Tim Berners Lee who invented the World Wide Web and gave theoretical and technological background for a new hypertext based linked information system, pointed out the problem of keywords. Searching for a particular information, document or webpage is a far more complex and longer process then it should be, mainly because two people never seem to choose the same keyword for the same concept. (Berners Lee, 1990) This problem becomes more and more acute as we enter the age of the Social Web characterized by collaborative and continuous creation, adaptation and alteration of content. The first generation of web tools, between 1990 and 2003, allowed users to publish information on a static page which could be read using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When users are searching for information on the web, they evaluate results tertieved before planning the next search procedure. The goal of the third generation of the web is to make more data available online readable and analyzable for machines as well. The Semantic Web will bring structure to the meaningful content of Web pages by using metadata and ontology, creating an environment where software agents can rapidly answer complex queries of users. (Berners Lee et al. 2001) The source of this environment is already there: we have huge amount of data available online. Three components help to transform existing data and store them as semantic data (Herman, 2006, 2008): Universal Resource Identifier (URI) which is a subject or an object; Resource Description Framework (RDF) triples (s,p,o) which means a labeled connection between two resources, where s , p and o stand for subject, property/predicate and object; Ontology, a common metadata vocabulary that defines the concepts and relationships used to describe and represent an area of knowledge. • 14. The Nature And The Realization Of Conversion Essay These two major pieces, the nature and the realization of conversion are reflected in what we believe, our theology. So Luther further reminds us Conversion changes man so that he can accept grace. (Tappert, 1959:537.83) But not just any old kind of grace, but the grace of God! Luther put forth a very Lutheran theological understanding of conversion, in which we are saved by grace through faith, which is a gift to us (humankind) from God. But God does all the acting; we are just merely beneficiaries of God s grace and mercy. For the conversion of our corrupt will, which is nothing else than a resuscitation of it from spiritual death, is only and solely the work of God (just as also the resuscitation in the resurrection of the body must be ascribed to God alone), as has been fully set forth above and proved by manifest testimonies of Holy Scripture. (Tappert, 1959:537:87) Tappert goes on to confirm, how God in conversion changes stubborn and unwilling into willing men through the drawing of the Holy Ghost, and that after such conversion, in the daily exercise of repentance, the regenerate will of man is not idle, but also cooperates in all the works of the Holy Ghost, which He does through us, has already been sufficiently explained above. • 15. Psychoanalytical Theories That Show How Healthy Development Christos Vagenas Azusa Pacific University The stages of development are psychoanalytical theories that show how healthy development in an individual should be from the age of adolescence to adult hood as described in the Invitation to the Life Span by Kathleen Berger (Berger, 2010). I interviewed an eighteen year old female who is currently a freshman at a four year university, the youngest in her family. In addition, I interviewed a man in his early fifties who has two kids and a wife. This individual owns a business that he started thirty years ago. These interviews and responses coincide and differentiate in many ways. This portrays a contrast in their developmental stages, while including how their faith has been a key factor in their development. Sentence The eighteen year old interviewee comes from a family of five with two older siblings, a mother and father. During the interview, the eighteen year old interviewee stated that she felt that she is more knowledgeable with her life experiences. This relates to the social learning theory where an individuals behavior and knowledge is emphasized through their observations from birth to adult hood (Berger, 2010). She included that she enjoys social learning because she is an adult, but she still has time to find out who she is and what she wants to be. However, she still is dependent on her parents, and living under their roof and finances. Thus, resulting in her not having the full college experience such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Vietnam War As A Civic Duty And A True Testament Vietnam In the 1960s, America found itself divided among various social matters. Conformity, civil rights, and the Vietnam war. While the older generations viewed fighting in the war as a civic duty and a true testament to what it meant to be an American , the counterculture did not share this belief. Regardless of how anyone felt about the war, it had escalated to epic proportions and as one citizen put it, It was on our mind every single hour of the day (PBS CITE). Vietnam was the first war ever to be televised, and with that came constant coverage and a growing concern from young Americans. In addition, the military draft made matters worse by forced the youth America to fight. By 1968, the war in Vietnam had claimed over 15,000 American lives (CITE PBS). Between the draft and the growing American casualties, greater tension in the US was created. Young Americans had to ask themselves if the war was worth fighting. Opposition to the draft and draft evasion was the central plot element in Hair with Claude s indecision of whether or not to serve his country in Vietnam a war he does not believe in (Young, 1993, p. 71). • 18. Effects Of Immigrants In The 1920s Fear and greed pump through the veins of our sweet American people causing a boundary between the truth and the presumption of immigrants. Immigrants have always been the friendly strangers who ve come to enjoy America s freedom with ambitious mindsets. However, as soon as the immigrants started affecting the future of true Americans, these friendly strangers instantly were seen as evil intruders. The rumors spread of the evil doings of immigrants, which lead to the presumption that immigrants only had wrong intentions when migrating to our country. Many Americans sought to find a reason to kick the immigrants out of their country because the immigrants migrating had no benefits to them. The presumption of immigrants consisted of the facts that they took jobs from others or were threats to the well being of America. In order to protect American citizens from these alleged wrongdoings, the government chose to limit the amount of immigrants through acts, such as the National Origins Act and the Emergency Quota Act. Furthermore, the government used the ideas rooted from fear and greed of the surrounding citizens to inspire this idea of setting up limitations, which led to to the abhorrent treatment of immigrants in the 1920 s. Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare around 1595. It tells the story of an old feud between the house of Capulet and the house of Montague. This feud could only be broken by the forbidden love and death of their children. So, because of the forbidden love, instability in youth, and pointless feuding, the story of Romeo and Juliet is actually really relevant in today s society. The authors bring up this idea is chapter two when they discuss the idea surrounding a tax on the inheritance given from an elderly family member to the rest of their surviving family. While most people without an economic mindset would instantly think that lowing the inheritance tax would be a good idea, Levitt and Dubner presented a counter theory/argument. They proposed that if the inheritance tax was decreased, theoretically, those people expecting a share of the inheritance would have less drive to exert the time or effort to keep the elderly person in good health thus resulting in a faster pay out of the inheritance. I found this to be quite interesting because I, before reading this, was in the same boat as most others by thinking that the inheritance tax should not be very high. However, after reading this, I would consider a minor increase in the inheritance tax to be justified because I think that the lives of the elderly, especially family members, should be more important than the inheritance that they leave behind. I wouldn t go too far though to raise the tax so high because I think that there is a ceiling where there would just be no benefit in even having an inheritance at all.
