The Differences Between Civil Litigation Procedure And...
The Differences between Civil Litigation Procedures and Criminal Litigation Procedures: Because the
public has suffered as a result of a crime committed by an individual or group breaking the law, the
United States brings criminal action and they are represented in court by a public official who is
known as, as a district attorney, public prosecutor, or United States Attorney. The jurisdiction of each
court affects the types of crimes that are presented there. Courts that have limited jurisdiction
prosecute lesser crimes (misdemeanors) and courts of general jurisdiction try more serious offenses
(felonies). In civil actions an individual or a group has caused harm to another and they go to court to
seek compensation for the harm caused. The injured party is called the plaintiff and they ask the court
to grant damages in the form of a monetary payment. Some jurisdictions allow for jury to hear the
trial. If neither party requests a jury, the judge renders a judgment after hearing both sides. In civil
actions, the party who brings in action must present a preponderance of evidence.
Steps in a Criminal Procedure:
Arrest: An individual files a complaint with law enforcement, the judge signs the warrant and law
enforcement can then make an arrest. An officer can make an arrest if there is probable cause and a
grand jury must be convened to determine whether to charge or indict the alleged criminal perpetrator.
Bail: After the accused is taken into custody, the court may

The Medical Science Of Cardiology
Young 1
The Medical Science of Cardiology Have you ever felt your heart race after a run, or when you watch
a movie, your heart stops? Well, your heart is an incredibly important organ within the human body
that keeps you alive and helps run your body. The heart is such an important component of the body. If
something goes wrong, it needs to be taken care of immediately; this urgent job is given to
cardiologists. Cardiology is the medical science of treatment of the heart. This science is filled with
specialists known as cardiologists. A cardiologist is a doctor with special training and skill in finding,
treating and preventing diseases of the heart and blood vessels (What is a Cardiologist?). When
becoming a cardiologist, you may choose to specialize in a certain area. Within the broad spectrum of
cardiology, there are many subspecialties, or sub branches within the field. Sub branches within
cardiology include the following: electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, general clinical
cardiology, nuclear cardiology, heart failure and transplant cardiology, preventative cardiology, and
many more. Electrophysiology focuses on irregular heartbeats and timing. Interventional cardiologists
specialize in treating cardiovascular disease, heart problems that the patient has had since birth, and
angioplasty and stenting. General clinical cardiologists target management and prevention of diseases.
Nuclear cardiologists use small amounts of radiation to

Emily Grierson Synthesis
In the short story A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, there are many different ways that readers
could interpret the story. Some may choose to interpret the story through gender roles, ethnicity, or
even social class. The social class is the most important in this situation, all people are judged on what
social class they fit into. When born into a wealthy family, it is automatically assumed that those
people are higher up and better than others. There is more to a person than just the social class they
fall under. Emily Grierson was born into a wealthy, aristocratic family, so it only makes sense that
people think that she is better than everyone. She had a servant by the name of Tobe who helped her
with the chores around the household, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women are all around treated differently than men, and especially in this time period. Emily was an
older woman that had never been without a dominant, male figure in her life. Her father and the ex
love of her life had always been there for her. This is when Homer Barron came into her life and she
realized that she never wanted to lose him. Even though Emily was eventually with Homer, that did
not mean she was lower in the social class because she was with a laborman. Emily was higher up in
the social system but people still did not know her for who she truly was. The rose of the story
symbolizes love. All Emily ever wanted was to love someone and to be loved by that same person, she
just wanted to be

A Short Story Of A Ghost Story
I shall begin my story with an experience I encountered at the age of sixteen at our small town s Latin
school. The sweetness of many memories from that time still stirs and touches me with melancholy:
dark and well lit alleys, houses and factories, faces and chimes, rooms affluent and comfortable, snug
and amenable, the whole town was pregnant with secrets.
The realms of day and night, two different universes coming from two opposite poles, mingled during
this time. My parents home belonged to one realm. This realm was familiar to me in many ways
strictness and love, model behaviour and school. This realm was thriving in clarity, brilliance and
purity, polite conversations and good manners. This was the world in which morning hymns were
sung and Christmas celebrated. Straight lines and paths led into the future: there was duty, love,
forgiveness, good resolutions, wisdom and reverence. If one wanted an unsullied and ordinary life,
one made sure one was in league with this world.
The other realm, however, was completely different: it smelt different, spoke a different language,
promised and demanded different things. This world contained ghost stories, rumours of scandals and
servant girls. It was dominated by a loud mixture of horrendous, intriguing, frightful, mysterious
things, including slaughterhouses and prisons, drunkards and screeching fishwives, calving cows,
horse sinking to their deaths, talks of robberies, murders and suicides. All these wild and cruel,

Preventing Terrorist Acts with the USA Patriot Act
The USA Patriot Act also known as Uniting and Strengthening America Act by Providing Appropriate
Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act is an official record that was ratified by
congress and signed into law by former President George Bush. This law was passed to prevent
another event of terrorist attacks such as the ones that took place on September 11, 2001 in New York
City and Washington, D.C. In less than two months of the 9/11 attacks, this act was released to inform
citizens of the United States that their freedom from interference would soon come to an end. Ever
since the Patriot Act was put into effect it has violated the American s civil rights by allowing for
invasions of privacy, permitting illegal searches and seizures, and legalizing racial profiling. On
Tuesday September 11, 2001 a group of 19 attackers associated with the Islamic group al Qaeda
hijacked four airlines and carried out suicide attacks targeting against the United States ( 9/11 attacks
). These terrorists simply smuggled illegal weapons through security check and boarded four flights
heading for California, two departing from Boston, one from Washington, D.C, and another from
Newark, N.J. Two aircrafts were crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City, a third was
crashed into the Pentagon out of Washington, D.C and a fourth was crashed into a field in
Pennsylvania ( 9/11 attacks ). The two planes that were crashed into the World Trade Center and the

What Are Huck Finn s Life Lessons
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a novel based on morals and action. Huckleberry Finn or Huck
learns many lessons throughout his adventures in the deep south despite the social norm of the pre
Civil War era. Many of Huck s life lessons mature him as the novel goes on and makes him realize
how corrupted his world is. Huck learns that slaves are like white people, what s right and what s
wrong, and that not all people can be trusted. It s these lessons Huck learns that forms him into a man
throughout the novel.
Huck learning that slaves are like whites is one of the largest wake up calls to him. It is between
chapter 15 when Huck decides to play a prank on Jim. After the conundrum the wreckage from the
prank shows up on shore and Jim gets upset. Huck says It was fifteen minutes before I could work
myself up to go and humble a nigger, but I done it. (pg 83.). Then later on Jim tells Huck about his
deaf daughter and how he hit her. After this incident is mentioned Huck realizes black people care for
their families like white people do theirs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Applying The Self Assessment Exercise
For one to establish a stress free life, one of the most important aspects one should pursue together is
having a balanced healthy lifestyle. Paying attention to the level of changes in once life over a period
of time requires a full attention and cooperation of the individual s daily activity towards achieving
this goal. As an individual , it is a priority to pay proper attention to my lifestyle by adopting a
measuring scale that will help to determine my motivation ,emotion and the state of my stress level in
my daily activity. By applying the self assessment exercise, I was able to find out how the activities of
the day affect my life. The assessment made me to realize that I was on an average level of stress. It
shown that, the lifestyle I adopted, allows me the time to deal with stress in a controlled, non
aggressive way. Even though , I was surprised with the good result of the assessment , I sometimes felt
overwhelmed with activities ,but I still try to find time to calm down and get some rest by having a
cup of water , taking a nap or taking a walk in the neighborhood. The assessment result gave me the
motivation to keep doing the things I have adopted to help me when I feel stressed out with errands
and home work. I understand that motivating myself will require being positive and ready to let go the
things that border my life and be willing to speak out the good things I experienced in my life to the
people that are more special in my life

William Faulkner s Literary Analysis
William Cuthbert Faulkner was an American writer, born on September 25, 1897 in Oxford,
Mississippi. He died on July 6, 1962, of a heart attack. Faulkner is credited with many literary works
including novels, short stories and poetry. He had a tendency to focus his writings on families, time,
sex, the past and the south where he was born. He created voices for children, criminals, the mentally
unstable and the dead (Faulkner, 2013). In Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, he elucidates the effect of
time versus tradition and looking at the world in a vividly obscured view through symbolic
representations anchored to a rose and a house.
This house, like Emily Grierson, represented the wealth and tradition of the Old South. Built in 1870s,

The rose is most often thought of as a symbol for love in which case Homer is the representation the
rose or love for Emily. Her father thought no man was good enough for her or for the Grierson family.
Therefore, she was never able to experience desire or the rose of love until she met Homer. However,
there is another meaning of rose to consider. In Medieval times the rose was used as a sign of silence
or secrecy (Lowe, 2001, Feb 14). A rose was hung from the ceiling at a meeting of secret societies
indicating a demand for discretion. The rose in the title of the story could therefore stand for Emily s
secret; that is Homer her rose whom she cherished, loved and kept to herself even after his body was
corrupted by the decay of

thesetting of the film into their minds, whilst the feather is shot from multiple angles, sometimes close

Analysis Of Becoming The Boss By Linda Hill
Analysis of Becoming the Boss Linda Hill s article Becoming the Boss details several helpful and
important ideas for first time leaders and managers to consider. My first overview of the article
included thoughts that the article had a somewhat discouraging and negative outlook on new
managers. Hill makes the statement throughout the article that the transition into becoming a leader or
new manager is often very traumatic and the failures of the new managers are not surprising. After a
more detailed review, I understand Hill s purpose is to share the negative stories of new managers so
the reader can use the stories as a learning guide for the transition into the managerial role. After
understanding Hill s purpose, it is easier to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important for the subordinates to remember the individual taking on the new managerial role was
previously just in the subordinate s position. There are many aspects of the new role to learn and the
best help the new manager can receive is support from his or her subordinates. As a person new to a
managerial role, Hill s advice in the article on learning through everyday experience by making
mistakes is extremely reassuring. Within the article, Hill elaborates on the misconception that
managers wield significant authority (Hill, 2007, p.3). Once new managers have made it to the top, it
is important for them to realize they were just in their subordinates position. Hill (2007) quotes a new
manager stating, It s humbling that someone who works for me could get me fired (Hill, p.5). From
personal experience, in the beginning, my superior has warned me it will first and foremost be my
work that pushes me to the Hartness 3 top of the company. In addition to my individual work, it will
be the relationship I build with the people under me. Lacking an effective relationship with my
subordinates will take me back to the bottom of the company. Hill lists forging good individual
relationships as a misconception (Hill, 2007, p.7). Although team building is extremely important, I
would disagree with Hill s statements on team building being more important than individual
relationships (Hill,

Abigail Adams Book Critique In the novel, Abigail Adams: A Revolutionary American Woman,
Charles Akers portrays the life of a strong, revolutionary woman named Abigail Adams. She was
known as the first lady of the United States under John Adams and she played an indirect role in
influencing the American Revolution. She is called one of the founders of the country for her
revolutionary thinking and her being a rights activist. Abigail Adams faced many hardships throughout
her life. She was the daughter of a minister and had two sisters and a brother. In the 1700 s, children
did not have a high survival rate due to the amount of diseases and nothing to treat them with. Abigail
Adams said in her old age that she was always sick (Akers 5). This reminds people how tough life was
in the 1700 s and how easy it was to pass away from a mere cold. Abigail also did not have any
education growing up. Women, in the colonial era, were not supposed to have an education and were
supposed to watch the kids, cook, and clean. Readers of this book learn that many women back then
were illiterate and were self taught, if they had any education. Abigail did find a love for literature due
to her sister s spouse, Richard Cranch. He influenced her love for literature at a young age and she
started to become more literate. Along with the disease and educational deficiency, women were
considered as property. A young woman could either give up

Fluoridation Of Drinking Water Essay
Chemistry and Health: Fluoridation of Drinking Water Chemistry is a significant aspect in our lives;
everything around us is made up of matter and the different forms of matter are what make it possible
for us to breathe and survive (Nivaldo, 2018, p. 67). Scientists study chemistry based on how it occurs
in our everyday lives, health, and in the environment that we live in. Furthermore, chemistry plays a
huge role in health in a sense of what is good and bad for the body, or why the body is reacting to a
certain substance in the way that it is. Teeth are a vital part of the human body; they help us chew our
food so that we are able to swallow, not to mention that they are the first thing that a person looks at
when they meet you, if you are smiling of course. So many people are not given the teeth that they
want, so they get braces to fix them, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important for everyone to take good care of their teeth and the extent to which they are taken care
of can sometimes even determine what overall condition they are in. This makes sense because a
person that frequently skips brushing their teeth will most likely have more cavities than a person that
brushes their teeth daily, but it can also depend on the things a person is eating or drinking as well. In
this paper, I will discuss the ways that fluoridation of drinking water affects our health in ways such as
theories, developments, and the role that it plays in society.

One of the most commonly heard theories about fluoride is that if consumed in drinking water it can
cause damage to your teeth. On page 103 in the book Fluoride in Drinking Water, the National

The Effect Of Cortisol And Sleep On Memory
Question
Bennion, Steinmetz, Kensinger, and Payne (2013) addressed the overarching question of how cortisol,
sleep, and emotional arousal interact to influence memory. More specifically, they conducted a study
to investigate the following: 1) whether resting levels of the stress hormone cortisol affect memory
consolidation differently for emotional versus neutral stimuli, 2) whether this effect differs following a
period of sleep versus a period of wakefulness, 3) whether resting cortisol levels affect the relationship
between attention to stimuli during encoding and subsequent memory, and 4) whether this effect, too,
differs following a period of sleep versus wakefulness. These research questions were used to examine
the interaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the authors initially presented their hypothesis as a dichotomous outcome, there were
several possible alternatives. Elevated cortisol could predict better subsequent memory for neutral
stimuli than for negative stimuli or have no effect on memory. Cortisol could have a greater effect
following the period of wakefulness than the period of sleep, or the Sleep/Wake condition could have
no effect. Results could also show only main effects of cortisol, valence, and sleep, with no interaction
effects, or cortisol levels could have no significant effect on memory, regardless of the valence of the
stimuli or the Sleep/Wake condition.
For the two research questions addressed during the second level of the study, Bennion et al. (2013)
hypothesized that elevated cortisol at encoding would promote an interaction between attention and
consolidation i.e., that objects viewed for a shorter duration of time would be more likely to be
forgotten, and objects viewed for a longer duration would be more likely to be remembered. They also
hypothesized that this effect would be greater following the period of sleep, and that neural activity in
memory retrieval would be centered on the limbic areas. This hypothesis also makes a reasonable
prediction based on prior research suggesting that neural activity for mental retrieval centers on the
limbic regions

I Am A Moderate Activist, Strong Preference Reflector, Low...
According to this test I am a moderate activist, strong preference reflector, low preference theorist and
moderate pragmatist. My scores can be seen in Appendix E.
6. Mindful Attention Awareness Scale
The mean score of my test is 3.86.
Though the above show results in various dimensions of a personality, they are never 100% reliable.
Certain choices in a question are obvious about checking the right answer but not the honest one.
Many organizations carry out tests like this before recruiting a person, this can invite the wrong person
if the company only relies on this test for recruitment. Susan (2000) suggest that there is a negativity
involved during this test, it can make a person perform less due to the stress levels of ticking the right
choice (Susan J., 2000). In other words, though anyone doesn t copy, still it s a form of cheating to
achieve the place in a company.
According to the results above I discover that in the MBTI, I have scored less in extroversion
personality, sensing, thinking and judging. I can improve my scores by associating myself with
different activities and by doing quizzes for thinking. My stress management indicator shows that I
need development in managing emotions and having integrity, this is true to an extend since I have

Innocence And Guilt In Joseph Heller s Catch-22 Analysis
The Catch 22 of Innocence and Guilt in Heller s Catch 22 There is a strong recurring theme in Joseph
Heller s Catch 22: the amoral will push the moral to either become like them or to be their victims. In
a world of an oppressive bureaucracy that values career success over human life, the men of the
Twenty Seventh Airborne are pushed either to conform and accept entropy or to suffer. This theme of
either succumbing or dying is highlighted especially in Milo Minderbinder and Snowden; Cathcart s
feathers in his cap or black eyes; and Cathcart and Korn s proposed deal to Yossarian. Robert M.
Young highlights how Milo Minderbinder and Snowden are both significantly symbolic characters in
the novel. He states Milo does everything; Snowden does one: he dies. Milo is pure opportunist,
Snowden pure victim. Milo is a conniving and self centered character, who is thoroughly explored
throughout the novel. Snowden is only seen in short snippets and the circumstances of his death are
rather enigmatic throughout the course of the story. Yet, despite the clear differences between these
two characters, both of them touch the reader in intense ways. Milo s meager and unsuspecting
character is slowly lifted to reveal his avariciousness and manipulative ways. He is capitalism
incarnate according to Young. However, with the same ferocity that the reader is enraged by Milo,
they are melancholy and vulnerable over Snowden s death. The reader feels Yossarian s helplessness
as he mutters

Relationship Between Music And Music
Introduction
The relationship between Music and Film has evolved immensely since the emergence of sound films
in 1923. In fact, music is one of the most peculiar conventions in cinema. It is not an aspect of film
that is questioned, due to its repeated imprint on viewers every time a movie is seen. Music in film is
not only something we accept, but something we demand. With time, the advancements in technology
has allowed for the creation of more intricate, film scores that have separated themselves as iconic
pieces of culture. Of these, the works of Hans Zimmer, in collaboration with Christopher Nolan, have
made a particularly transformative impact on the film industry. Their partnership has seen the creation
of numerous successes, including The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005, 2008, 2012), Inception (2010) and
Interstellar (2014). Their unique methods of collaboration, and stance on the relationship between film
and music has played a significant role in shaping the conventions of modern film. Thus, this essay
will discuss three of their notable works in detail, and provide an insight into their eccentric
relationship.

In most films in the modern era, the composer and director work separately, with the composer writing
music by referencing early edits of scenes. This method is effective in terms of time management, but
often results in a lack of an authentic score. This is due to the time pressure on composers to produce a
fitting score in a relatively short amount of time compared to the time allocated to editing and
production. While usually the score and the film are completely different entities for at least half of the
production process, Nolan chooses to work closely with his composers, meeting frequently to discuss
the intricacies of the soundscape inside the world of the

Short Story On Seeing The 100 % Perfect Girl One Beautiful...
On Seeing The 100% Perfect Girl One Beautiful April Morning, the protagonist was a young Japanese
man who didn t know how to approach a girl who he believed is perfect. The reason I choose this
story is that I went through a similar event my first year in college. The only difference is I didn t have
the guts to ask the girl out. Tell you the truth, she s not that good looking. She doesn t stand out in any
way. Her clothes are nothing special. The back of her hair is still bent out of shape from sleep .
(Literature, Murakami, page 143) My first year at UCR I had a crush on a girl by the name of Sage.
She was short, pretty, and had an amazing personality. One of my friends Roger told me Adrian what
are you thinking, this girl is ugly, she s like 4 out of 10 even you can do better. I told Roger that I don t
know what is but there something special about this girl that makes me want her. I couldn t figure it
out, if her smile, voice, personality, looks or just being able to spend time and talk to her. As the
quarters went by I didn t think I have a chance with a girl like her since she was really bright. She used
to tutor me during World Politics and always did much better than me during the exams. When the
second quarter came I didn t see her at all, it was during the first day of spring quarter where I saw her
again. I was walking out of History class when I saw her and called her. A similar event occurs
because the author saw the perfect girl again Wish I

Old Myth In Icarus By Edward Field
Icarus By: Edward Field In the poem Icarus written by Edward is about an old myth that took place in
1963. Everyone thought Icarus had drowned as the myth said. However he actually managed to swim
to a city and survive. His neighbors have no idea that he is anything other than ordinary. He feels that
he has fallen from something great to something average. Icarus keeps trying to fix his wings in order
to regain his old glory. He used to think he was a hero, however he now realizes that he is just average
and he wishes he had died heroically. Field rewrote the Icarus myth for the modern world to grasp and
understand. In his rewritten version he makes changes but also undercuts the heroics of Icarus. It is not

Passenger And Freight Transportation Systems
Passenger and freight transportation systems have a number of similarities in the investment
evaluation process, with a few significant differences. The table below offers an initial look at the
stakeholders for each and their relative financial interests. As this table illustrates, many of the
stakeholders are similar. However, there are significant differences in the asset providers and those
entities with a direct financial interest. This variance drives major differences in the evaluation of
investment in projects in either area, freight or passenger transportation. In freight operations, most
often the assets are provided by private firms with a direct interest in the operation of freight
transportation services on the asset. In most passenger transportation systems, the asset provider is a
public entity, such as a transit authority. For purposes of the asset provider financial discussion relative
to investment, there is a cost and benefit analysis that always takes place. These elements are generally
described as, for cost elements, facility capital costs (dictated by site location and design, as well as
the partners involved in the planning process), facility maintenance costs (ongoing costs of
maintaining a facility to ensure safe operations and upkeep), and operating costs (such as labor costs,
fuel costs, equipment costs, and the time lost to congestion or to the breakdown of efficient supply
chains). Regarding benefits, other impact factors include capacity

After completing the observation checklist pilot for more than a week in Russed secondary school and

were prompted by the increasing competition and growth in the industry. The US market is the largest

approximately 8.9% between 2004 and 2008 to reach a value of $51 billion, forming 47.6% of the

The Ethics Of A Vegan Diet
The first things that come to a person mind when they hear the word, vegan , are usually protest for
animal rights, salads, and a lack of protein, but the question is does he/she really know what being a
vegan is all about? Veganism is the practice of abstaining away from the use of any product that uses
animals, commonly associated with the cruel treatment of animals and make up thirty one percent of
the population worldwide. An ethical vegan is a form of veganism were a person does not use any
product that has been tested on an animal or is made from an animal. A dietary vegan is a form of
veganism were a person does not consume any product made from, by, or out of an animal. Many
people believe that veganism is unnecessary because not all animal are treated bad or :it s to hard, or it
s bad for the body. Although some people believe that, realistically, a vegan diet comes with an
abound of benefits for animals, the body and the environment.
To begin, a vegan diet is a way to end animal cruelty in factories and farms. Animal cruelty begins in
giant indoor farms that keep animal confined to cages and barely have any sunlight, known as animal
factories, so that countries can meet the demand for meat, cheeses and other products. Two thirds of
the animal population, which include chickens, turkey, cow, pigs and other commonly eaten animals,
live in these factories but the animals are not in healthy environment at all. The animals live there own

Comparison Between Hamlet And Ophelia

Hamlet Essay
The two characters I m analyzing and comparing are Hamlet and Ophelia. I m choosing these two
because they are very different, from two different families that don t like each other. But their in love
at the same time. So I feel like Hamlet and Ophelia are the best options for this essay. Hamlet should
have tried to express his love a little less so Ophelia s father wouldn t have found out about how
madly in love with her Hamlet was.
Hamlet and Ophelia were spending a lot of time together and Hamlet had told Ophelia the affection he
had for her. Ophelia didn t know how to feel about Hamlet s affection for her because she knew how
her father would feel about it. Somehow her father, Polonius, found out about the time they were
spending together and the affection Hamlet had for Ophelia. He ordered Ophelia to spend no more
time with hamlet and to not even speak to him. She said she would obey her father s orders to stay
away from Lord Hamlet .
Ophelia not talking to Hamlet really hurt Hamlet. He was very much in love with Ophelia. He knew
they there two families didn t get along but he still had a whole lot of love for her. He wanted to marry
her but deep down inside he should have known her father wasn t going to allow them to be married.
There was just something about her that he couldn t resist, he just knew that she was the love of his
life. Sometimes that s how things work out though you can t always get what you want.in life. But you
can sure try your hardest to get what you want even though in this situation Hamlet Probably isn t
getting what he wants which is Ophelia.
Ophelia is drowned (pg. 77) . Many believe that she committed suicide and drowned herself and many
also believe she actually accidentally drowned. There was a debate on whether she should get a
christian burial because of the belief that she committed suicide. The helper said I heard she is to be
giving a christian burial (pg 79) so i guess that she will be giving a christian burial but a lot of people
don t agree because of the belief that she committed suicide. Hamlet didn t like the fact that the
gravedigger was singing while he dug Ophelia s grave by saying Has this

The Ability Of A Classic Book
The ability of a classic book is to be reinterpreted. A classic is something that is Judged over a period
to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind (kimsunjin, 2013). A classic book is a book
accepted as being paradigmatic or prominent, for instance, books like Pride and Prejudice, To Kill a
Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men and so forth, are listed in a list of great books. Either through an
imprimatur or a reader s opinion. Per Henrik Blidal, Casper Sylvest and Perter Wilson in Classics of
international Relations: Essays in criticism and appreciation they define a classic in five key ways; the
acknowledged or undisputed classic , the archetypal classic , the classic in the making , the overlooked
classic and lastly the Alternative format classic . Kenneth Waltz s neo realist Theory of International
Politics is arguably the utmost significant book in International relations, as Jack Donnelly argues it is
causing a fundamental discursive transformation and conveying the notion of anarchy to the forefront
(Donnelly, n.d.). Similarly, Keohane and Nye s Power and Interdependence re examined the military
and economic interests of state and non state actors. The authors widened the dominant realist
worldview of the time and contributed to many of the advances in our modern era of globalization.
* Waltz s 1979 Theory of International politics fits into the category of the acknowledged or
undisputed classics , perhaps because it replaced Morgenthau s

Gender Equality In Iron Jawed Angels
Tuesday, November 8 2016 was the first time I was old enough to vote for the presidential election.
After watching Iron Jawed Angels, I realized how much I have taken for granted in my life and how
incredibly grateful I am for all of the women that have fought for women equality including; Alice
Paul and Lucy Burns. There are still on going debates in todays society about gender equality, but it s
crazy to see how 100 plus years ago some of the rights women have now, going to school and voting,
didn t exist. In 1912, Alice Paul and Lucy Burns fought together among other women for the right to
vote. They fought for not only white women, but women of all races. Throughout Iron Jawed Angels
the women fought hard, even during the time of war and while they were in jail, for their rights and
equality. It wasn t until August 26, 1920 that women could vote. Before that women could not attend
college or pursue training for most professions (Woods, 57). During the movie, Alice Paul was
creating a friendship with a male who taught her how to drive which is interesting because in todays
society almost every women knows how to drive or has the privilege to drive but back then only men
drove or could even afford a car because they had the right to work. In the movie Iron Jawed Angels,
Senetor Leighton and his family are described as a stereotypical family during their time period. He
provides for his wife and two kids while, his wife stays at home and doesn t work.

Urbanization Of China s Urbanization
Urbanization in China
Urbanization is all around us. Every day somewhere along a route that someone takes to school or
work, they will likely pass a construction site constructing a new apartment complex or housing
community or even the building of a new shopping centre. All of these are ways urbanization creeps in
on our daily lives. We may think of urbanization as something that benefits our world but it can also
have many negative consequences such as traffic congestion which is the number one factor of air
pollution. China is known as a very highly developed country with over 1 billion people. Urbanization

These cities are often called megacities because they have a high density of population. Between the
1950 s to the 1960 s China s government had implemented the Five Year plan, this plan was the
government s way of initiating population growth, which resulted in high rates of urban in migration
(Shin, 2015, pg.3). This was the spark of urbanization in the megacities. A few decades later the
urbanization population ratio has skyrocketed in the past two decades from 26% in 1990 to 50% in
2010... with more than one billion people (Song, Chen, 2014, pg.485). In this instance, China s
population has rapidly grown in a short amount of time creating many megacities within their country,
after the first spark called the Five Year plan between the 50 s and 60 s. With the creation of these
megacities comes the factor of urbanization. Many of these cities will be flooded with large amounts
of people that need the basic necessaries of life and therefore these megacities will become urbanized.
Urbanization of these cities means the building of many resources such as housing, transportation
routes, health services and shopping centres. With the becoming of urbanization this also comes with
many other factors that can be both positive and negative.

that month, Khrushchev sent note to Castro that if an armed invasion occurred, they could rely on the

Supply And Demand Of A Good Or Service
Supply and demand is a fundamental factor in shaping the character of the marketplace. A demand
refers to the specific quantity of a product /good or service that people are willing and able to buy at
given price level, where supply of a good or service represents how much quantity people are willing
and able to offer for sale at given price level. There are various factors that demand and supply of a
good or service depend on. Demand of a product depends on the price of the product, number of
buyers in the market, tastes and preferences of consumer, consumer s income, consumer expectations
and prices of related commodities. Supply of a product depends on the price of that product, number

Demand is determined by many factors other than price. The shift in demand curve occurs when there
is a change in factors other than price, results in the shift of demand curve. For example, if level of
income of an individual or a community rises, then demand will increase at the same price level
leading demand curve to shift to the right. Similarly, if there is a fall in the disposable income of the
consumers or rise in the prices of close substitute of a good or decline in consumer taste or goods are
unavailable, etc., at the same price level, there is a fall or decrease in demand leading demand curve to

patients care and act to prevent breaches of confidentiality. Veracity as a word is associated with
truthfulness. In nursing it is a duty to disclose pertinent information and the obligation to respect
confidentiality at the same time. This means giving truthful information about the risks of a procedure
while still respecting the patient s confidentiality. These are the main principles of ethics as far as it
pertains to nursing and knowing this information is vital to understanding ethical theories and how to
better apply them as a practicing nurse. As mentioned earlier some of the Ethical theories are
Consequentialism, Deontology, Ethical Relativism, Teleology, Virtue ethics, and Justice and equity. It
is important for Nurses to understand the definition of each of these, as well as how to apply them, and
how it benefits the patient. It is pivotal for nurses because it will ensure that they are preforming their
jobs and duties with the highest regard to patient advocacy and maintain the ethics which nursing is
based on.
Consequentialism, also referred to as utilitarianism, seems simple enough to understand as the word
consequence is evident. Consequentialist ethics refers to the idea that the correct moral response is

The Selma To Montgomery March
A devastating 18 day, 50 mile march took place countless beaten senseless, but it was worth it. The

segregation as well as bring voting rights to blacks. Nevertheless, that s not how it went, state troopers
were ordered to wait 2 minutes before attacking the marchers, if you haven t guessed yet that s not
how it went, the state troopers attacked. Ending up in the result of brutality hurting numerous men
along with women. Spiting on them clubbing them to the extinct of jail time in are generation,
whipped, stomped on by horses, the list goes on and on. That remains known as bloody Sunday. When
someone my age (13) thinks about bloody Sunday it s vague but if you were to ask someone who was

So in the process he went on television and stated religious leaders to come Tuesday for their march to
Montgomery. This would begin two days after the first march to Montgomery. He made his remark
when he occurred in Atlanta. John Lewis was furies at the president Johnson saying how can you send
troops to directly protect America but not to protect marchers to Montgomery? Now two days later the
march had begun and over 2,000 people came to the event. Before that king was told to hold the event

This song is great for numerous reasons. In the opening of the song there is a drum solo played by
Joey Kramer. The solo is followed by a main riff from Joe Perry, repeated for a short time, and then is
played throughout the song in after about two or three stanzas. In the song a well heard beat by Joey
Kramer on drums is played which makes me want to tap my foot to the song. The chorus which
consists of the song title Walk This Way is well known by many and is one of the best parts of the
song. There is a great melody in the song and a guitar solo in the middle of the song played by Joe
Perry that makes me, and most people familiar with the song, want to either learn how to play or air
guitar to. This song also has a medium tempo that makes people want to nod their heads to or dance. I
Some of the lyrics that stood out to me was, I took a big chance at the high school dance... This part of
the song caught my attention because I noticed how he was talking about his past life and a brief
description of his high school experience. The last lyric that stood out to me was, I was a high school
loser, never made it with a lady... This intrigued me because of how he admits to how bad he was in
high school, but is comparing his past self to himself now as a superstar. Steven Tyler s lyrics stood
out to me and made the song much more interesting. Walk This Way is one of Aerosmith s greatest
songs and I

Dan Buettner s Three Blue Zones
In the TED Talk How to Live to be 100+ , Dan Buettner talks about lifestyles that are helping people
live to be 100+. According to the Danish Twin Study, biology only factors into 10 percent of how long
we live, the other 90 percent it based off lifestyle (Buettner 2009). Dan Buettner and his colleagues
found three Blue Zones to try to find what types of lifestyles these people are living to become
centenarians. Blue Zones are places where people live longer than the majority of people in the world.
The Blue Zones are in Sardinia, Okinawa, and Loma Linda, California. They found similarities in
their lifestyles that help them to live to be 100+. Those similarities are: they do not do strenuous
exercise, have a period of down time, have a word ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People in the Blue Zones put their families first. They take care of everyone in the family, ranging
from young children to aging parents. People in the Blue Zone not only care for their aging parents but
also treat them like celebrities. Dan Buettner (qtd in Gulli 2008) emphasizes that A stop in any local
taverna reveals just how much glory these seniors get. Usually we see swimsuit calendars inside North
American sports bars, says Dan Buettner, but when he was in Sardinia, it was Centenarian of the
Month calendars. Also, their relationship with their community is also very important. Those
surrounding themselves with the right people allows them to add on many years to their life. Buettner
(2009) states, They all tend to belong to a faith based community, which is worth between four and 14
extra years of life expectancy if you do it four times a month. And the biggest thing here is they also
belong to the right tribe. They were either born into or they proactively surround themselves with the
right people, they purposely surround themselves with the right group of people in their lives. The
relationships in the Blue Zone societies can be implemented into the lifestyles of the people in Cohort
Two; however, many of their ideas cannot be implemented in our lifestyles

Internal Conflict In The Lovely Bones
A well written story involves important topics that are interesting for the reader, but also incorporates
strong emotions. Susie Salmon, a fourteen year old girl, is raped and murdered by a neighborhood
man. She tells the story from her point of view in heaven as she watches her family grieve over her
loss and search to find her killer. In The Lovely Bones, Alice Sebold creates a suspenseful novel that
explores rape through the victims eyes while also telling a heart wrenching story with conflict,
imagery, and plot twists. The internal conflict of this novel causes the reader to feel sympathy for the
main character, Susie. When Susie is raped and then murdered, she goes to heaven. When she is there,
she is so wrapped up in her family s life, she can not move on. She is stuck in a different heaven,
where she can t see any of her family that has passed, and all she sees is Earth. Susie s counselor in
heaven, Frannie, gives her some advice: If you stop asking why you were killed instead of someone
else, stop investigating the vacuum left by your loss, stop wondering what everyone left on Earth is
feeling, she said, you can be free. Simply put you have to give up on Earth (Sebold 120). Susie wants
to see the real heaven, where she could forget the past, and be filed with joy. However, to her this
seems impossible.. This internal conflict of letting go of Earth to have a peaceful afterlife, holds her
back from exploring what is actually out there. Alice Sebold creates a

The Power Of Technology
Technology has become detrimental to society, and the development of our future generations. Anyone
who uses technology in their daily lives should care about how influential technology has developed
overtime. Currently, technology has become more advanced, and accessible to the world. It is
important for society to understand the negative hindrance of technology, because, too many of us rely
on technology to establish our lives. The general public, should limit the use of technology, because it
is making us stupid. Technology, leads to individuals decline in reading skills, it damages our
cognizance skills, and decreases our ability pay attention. The greater the exposure to the Internet the
greater you will decline in literacy skills. In society technology has led to carelessness, and intensifies
poor grammar and spelling. According to Johanna Sorrentino in her, study was thirty three under
graduates to proofread a one page business letter, half with the spell check on, and half with it off.
With spell check off, students with high verbal SAT scores made an average of five auditing errors and
students with lower SAT scores made an average of 12.3 errors. With spell check on, high scoring SAT
students made on average of sixteen errors , and low scoring students made seventeen errors
(Sorrentino). Before utilizing the power of technology people should use their knowledge of reading
and phonetic skills for the pronunciation and spelling of words. While eliminating or

Themes In Silver Sparrow

secret African American teenage sisters who have different relationships and lead very different lives.
The novel takes place in the 1980s in middle class Atlanta, Georgia. The two narrators, Dana Yarboro
and Chaurisse Witherspoon, go through the same process, but in very different directions, which is
maturation. The main secret in the novel is that Dana knows that she has a half sister, but Charisse
dose not. Dana says in the opening line of chapter one, My father, James Witherspoon is a bigamist.

Their lives are the same, but their personalities and the truth are not. Finding out about different
personalities and versions of the truth, but with love and approval is the main reason for the sisters.
Dana and Charisse figure out why James is married to two women during James s younger years.
Dana is attractive and scholastic. Charisse is moderate and diligent. They both have relationships with
boys and reflect about their mothers. The main truth is Dana knows about James s other family, but
Charisse does not know. Dana and Charisse are well developed characters because of the same process
they go through the whole novel. They develop the different versions of the truth and their different
personalities. They can be realistic, because anybody can go through the same situation that Dana and
Charisse did. More people are having the same problem then what the sisters have. The sisters
reliability is both yes and no, because they find reliable information about their families, but Dana s is
about Gwen and Charisse s side of family and Charisse is about Laverne, but cannot find out about
Dana s family. The novel, Silver Sparrow , is not about sisterly love between mothers and daughters, it
is about two sisters and how they go through James s two married lives and it

How Is George Patton Successful
General George Smith Patton {Good} Old Blood and Guts
The great General George Smith Patton said that A good solution applied with vigor now is better than
a perfect solution applied ten minutes later. Patton was a great leader and an even better strategist;
although, he was a ruthless man who had a love for war and death. While General George Patton s
childhood developed his strategic thinking and cunning leadership, his narcissistic self promotion led
us to victory in World War II.
George Smith Patton always had a lifelong interest in the military and war. Patton was born on the
11th of November 1885 in San Gabriel, California. Patton was a dyslexic young man so school was
hard for him (river editor, 42). He had low self esteem and he cried often (river editor,42). Patton s
parents had a lot of military experience, and he wanted to follow in their footsteps. Because of his

Sacco And Bartolomeo Vanzetti Analysis
On August 23, 1927, Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were executed in one of the most iconic
and infamous trials in American history. Since that date, historians have argued on the attitudes
surrounding this case that gained global attention throughout the 1920s. Immediately following the
execution of these Italian anarchists, the liberal public expressed outrage and contempt for the verdict.
Felix Frankfurter, in 1927 wrote a piece entitled, The Case of Sacco and Vanzetti, which dug into the
injustices of the court. Frankfurter was appalled at how the justice system conducted the hearing. It is
suggested that the judicial system jumped to conclusions, with a complete disregard for any evidence.
Similarly. E.M. Morgan, an attorney of law, wrote an article for the Yale University Press, The Law of
Evidence: Some Proposals for its Reform, also in 1927. This piece scrutinized the lack of evidence,
the fabricated plots, and the mismatched witness testimonies that still ... Show more content on

The alleged innocence of Sacco and Vanzetti was heavily scrutinized by American conservatives since
the 1920s, though earlier critiques on the character of these suspects was primarily due to xenophobic
sentiments towards Italians following the mob and prohibition in the 1920s. The Cold War rekindled
feelings of uncertainty towards the Sacco and Vanzetti trial. With the American values of capitalism
and democracy under siege, fewer Americans sympathized with anarchists in the United States.
Although many did not dispute that the court case of Sacco and Vanzetti was mishandled, many still
vocalized that the court was just in its sentencing, since Americans likened the threat of communism
to other perceived domestic threats, namely anarchism in the United States. The 1950s and 1960s were
a period of mass hysteria surrounding alternate governing methods that did not involve a capitalist

Beyonce Narrative
Sorry, I ain t sorry, sorry, I ain t sorry this is how my Beyoncé filled night started. My sister and I
bumping in the car (listening to sorry) in our matching Beyoncé outfits, on our way to The Formation
World Tour. As we were rolling down the drive way, I went through a check list in my mind. Phone?
Check! Charger? Check! Glasses? Check! Tickets? Check! We were all set! I had been waiting for
months, counting down the days. I was finally going to see her, the one and only Beyoncé Knowles!
On the way there, lots of emotions and thought s went through my mind being that this was my first
concert. I had no clue what to expect! What if I lose my sister and don t know where I am at? What if

She was wearing a black one piece jump suit covered in jewels. Her hair was long and wavy. Her
voice was exactly how it sounded on the album. With every word she spoke, she preached like a
pastor on Sunday giving his sermon showing passion and commitment. The show presented itself in a
very women empowering way. She spoke with wisdom and honesty telling the truth about what
women in our county go through on a day to day basis. Beyoncé spoke about the double standards that
women face and the despicable way some men treat women. She sent out a message that all women in
today s society need to hear. At the end of the day, it is not about equal rights, it is how we think. We
need to reshape our own perception of how we view ourselves. We have to step up as women and take
the lead, ~ Beyoncé Knowles. The closure of the show was epic! She sang Halo and in the back
fireworks busted into the air leaving beautiful gold sparks chasing after it. The crowd applauded and
cheers rang out! Confetti blasted into the sky coming down like snow on a winter s day. The beautiful
Beyoncé Knowles ended the show by saying she loved us and thanking Chicago for coming to see her.
Overall, I had an amazing time and this will go down as the best moment in my life thus

The Differences between Civil Litigation Procedures and Criminal Litigation Procedures: Because the public has suffered as a result of a crime committed by an individual or group breaking the law, the United States brings criminal action and they are represented in court by a public official who is known as, as a district attorney, public prosecutor, or United States Attorney. The jurisdiction of each court affects the types of crimes that are presented there. Courts that have limited jurisdiction prosecute lesser crimes (misdemeanors) and courts of general jurisdiction try more serious offenses (felonies). In civil actions an individual or a group has caused harm to another and they go to court to seek compensation for the harm caused. The injured party is called the plaintiff and they ask the court to grant damages in the form of a monetary payment. Some jurisdictions allow for jury to hear the trial. If neither party requests a jury, the judge renders a judgment after hearing both sides. In civil actions, the party who brings in action must present a preponderance of evidence. Steps in a Criminal Procedure: Arrest: An individual files a complaint with law enforcement, the judge signs the warrant and law enforcement can then make an arrest. An officer can make an arrest if there is probable cause and a grand jury must be convened to determine whether to charge or indict the alleged criminal perpetrator. Bail: After the accused is taken into custody, the court may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some may choose to interpret the story through gender roles, ethnicity, or even social class. The social class is the most important in this situation, all people are judged on what social class they fit into. When born into a wealthy family, it is automatically assumed that those people are higher up and better than others. There is more to a person than just the social class they fall under. • 6. A Short Story Of A Ghost Story I shall begin my story with an experience I encountered at the age of sixteen at our small town s Latin school. The sweetness of many memories from that time still stirs and touches me with melancholy: dark and well lit alleys, houses and factories, faces and chimes, rooms affluent and comfortable, snug and amenable, the whole town was pregnant with secrets. The realms of day and night, two different universes coming from two opposite poles, mingled during this time. My parents home belonged to one realm. This realm was familiar to me in many ways strictness and love, model behaviour and school. This realm was thriving in clarity, brilliance and purity, polite conversations and good manners. This was the world in which morning hymns were sung and Christmas celebrated. Straight lines and paths led into the future: there was duty, love, forgiveness, good resolutions, wisdom and reverence. If one wanted an unsullied and ordinary life, one made sure one was in league with this world. The other realm, however, was completely different: it smelt different, spoke a different language, promised and demanded different things. This world contained ghost stories, rumours of scandals and servant girls. It was dominated by a loud mixture of horrendous, intriguing, frightful, mysterious things, including slaughterhouses and prisons, drunkards and screeching fishwives, calving cows, horse sinking to their deaths, talks of robberies, murders and suicides. • 11. William Faulkner s Literary Analysis William Cuthbert Faulkner was an American writer, born on September 25, 1897 in Oxford, Mississippi. He died on July 6, 1962, of a heart attack. Faulkner is credited with many literary works including novels, short stories and poetry. He had a tendency to focus his writings on families, time, sex, the past and the south where he was born. He created voices for children, criminals, the mentally unstable and the dead (Faulkner, 2013). In Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, he elucidates the effect of time versus tradition and looking at the world in a vividly obscured view through symbolic representations anchored to a rose and a house. Abigail Adams Critique Jordan Maki Prof. Meier History 6 October 20, 2017 Abigail Adams Book Critique In the novel, Abigail Adams: A Revolutionary American Woman, Charles Akers portrays the life of a strong, revolutionary woman named Abigail Adams. She was known as the first lady of the United States under John Adams and she played an indirect role in influencing the American Revolution. She is called one of the founders of the country for her revolutionary thinking and her being a rights activist. Abigail Adams faced many hardships throughout her life. She was the daughter of a minister and had two sisters and a brother. In the 1700 s, children did not have a high survival rate due to the amount of diseases and nothing to treat them with. Abigail Adams said in her old age that she was always sick (Akers 5). This reminds people how tough life was in the 1700 s and how easy it was to pass away from a mere cold. Abigail also did not have any education growing up. Women, in the colonial era, were not supposed to have an education and were supposed to watch the kids, cook, and clean. Readers of this book learn that many women back then were illiterate and were self taught, if they had any education. More specifically, they conducted a study to investigate the following: 1) whether resting levels of the stress hormone cortisol affect memory consolidation differently for emotional versus neutral stimuli, 2) whether this effect differs following a period of sleep versus a period of wakefulness, 3) whether resting cortisol levels affect the relationship between attention to stimuli during encoding and subsequent memory, and 4) whether this effect, too, differs following a period of sleep versus wakefulness. These research questions were used to examine the interaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the authors initially presented their hypothesis as a dichotomous outcome, there were several possible alternatives. Elevated cortisol could predict better subsequent memory for neutral stimuli than for negative stimuli or have no effect on memory. Cortisol could have a greater effect following the period of wakefulness than the period of sleep, or the Sleep/Wake condition could have no effect. Results could also show only main effects of cortisol, valence, and sleep, with no interaction effects, or cortisol levels could have no significant effect on memory, regardless of the valence of the stimuli or the Sleep/Wake condition. For the two research questions addressed during the second level of the study, Bennion et al. (2013) hypothesized that elevated cortisol at encoding would promote an interaction between attention and consolidation i.e., that objects viewed for a shorter duration of time would be more likely to be forgotten, and objects viewed for a longer duration would be more likely to be remembered. They also hypothesized that this effect would be greater following the period of sleep, and that neural activity in memory retrieval would be centered on the limbic areas. Innocence And Guilt In Joseph Heller s Catch-22 Analysis The Catch 22 of Innocence and Guilt in Heller s Catch 22 There is a strong recurring theme in Joseph Heller s Catch 22: the amoral will push the moral to either become like them or to be their victims. In a world of an oppressive bureaucracy that values career success over human life, the men of the Twenty Seventh Airborne are pushed either to conform and accept entropy or to suffer. This theme of either succumbing or dying is highlighted especially in Milo Minderbinder and Snowden; Cathcart s feathers in his cap or black eyes; and Cathcart and Korn s proposed deal to Yossarian. Robert M. Young highlights how Milo Minderbinder and Snowden are both significantly symbolic characters in the novel. He states Milo does everything; Snowden does one: he dies. Milo is pure opportunist, Snowden pure victim. Milo is a conniving and self centered character, who is thoroughly explored throughout the novel. Snowden is only seen in short snippets and the circumstances of his death are rather enigmatic throughout the course of the story. Yet, despite the clear differences between these two characters, both of them touch the reader in intense ways. Milo s meager and unsuspecting character is slowly lifted to reveal his avariciousness and manipulative ways. He is capitalism incarnate according to Young. • 26. Passenger And Freight Transportation Systems Passenger and freight transportation systems have a number of similarities in the investment evaluation process, with a few significant differences. The table below offers an initial look at the stakeholders for each and their relative financial interests. As this table illustrates, many of the stakeholders are similar. However, there are significant differences in the asset providers and those entities with a direct financial interest. This variance drives major differences in the evaluation of investment in projects in either area, freight or passenger transportation. In freight operations, most often the assets are provided by private firms with a direct interest in the operation of freight transportation services on the asset. In most passenger transportation systems, the asset provider is a public entity, such as a transit authority. For purposes of the asset provider financial discussion relative to investment, there is a cost and benefit analysis that always takes place. These elements are generally described as, for cost elements, facility capital costs (dictated by site location and design, as well as the partners involved in the planning process), facility maintenance costs (ongoing costs of maintaining a facility to ensure safe operations and upkeep), and operating costs (such as labor costs, fuel costs, equipment costs, and the time lost to congestion or to the breakdown of efficient supply chains). I m choosing these two because they are very different, from two different families that don t like each other. But their in love at the same time. So I feel like Hamlet and Ophelia are the best options for this essay. Hamlet should have tried to express his love a little less so Ophelia s father wouldn t have found out about how madly in love with her Hamlet was. Hamlet and Ophelia were spending a lot of time together and Hamlet had told Ophelia the affection he had for her. Ophelia didn t know how to feel about Hamlet s affection for her because she knew how her father would feel about it. Somehow her father, Polonius, found out about the time they were spending together and the affection Hamlet had for Ophelia. He ordered Ophelia to spend no more time with hamlet and to not even speak to him. She said she would obey her father s orders to stay away from Lord Hamlet . Ophelia not talking to Hamlet really hurt Hamlet. He was very much in love with Ophelia. He knew they there two families didn t get along but he still had a whole lot of love for her. He wanted to marry her but deep down inside he should have known her father wasn t going to allow them to be married. There was just something about her that he couldn t resist, he just knew that she was the love of his life. Sometimes that s how things work out though you can t always get what you want.in life. But you can sure try your hardest to get what you want even though in this situation Hamlet Probably isn t getting what he wants which is Ophelia. Ophelia is drowned (pg. 77) . There are still on going debates in todays society about gender equality, but it s crazy to see how 100 plus years ago some of the rights women have now, going to school and voting, didn t exist. In 1912, Alice Paul and Lucy Burns fought together among other women for the right to vote. They fought for not only white women, but women of all races. Throughout Iron Jawed Angels the women fought hard, even during the time of war and while they were in jail, for their rights and equality. It wasn t until August 26, 1920 that women could vote. Before that women could not attend college or pursue training for most professions (Woods, 57). During the movie, Alice Paul was creating a friendship with a male who taught her how to drive which is interesting because in todays society almost every women knows how to drive or has the privilege to drive but back then only men drove or could even afford a car because they had the right to work. Since that date, historians have argued on the attitudes surrounding this case that gained global attention throughout the 1920s. Immediately following the execution of these Italian anarchists, the liberal public expressed outrage and contempt for the verdict. Felix Frankfurter, in 1927 wrote a piece entitled, The Case of Sacco and Vanzetti, which dug into the injustices of the court. Frankfurter was appalled at how the justice system conducted the hearing. It is suggested that the judicial system jumped to conclusions, with a complete disregard for any evidence. Similarly. E.M. Morgan, an attorney of law, wrote an article for the Yale University Press, The Law of Evidence: Some Proposals for its Reform, also in 1927.
