The Meaning Of The Space Shuttle Program
These days it seems like everyone is gearing up to go into space and NASA refuses to get left behind.
From 1981 to 2011, the Space Shuttle Program dominated human space exploration for the United
States, but since March 2011, NASA had no way to put astronauts into orbit. For this reason, the
ending of the Space Shuttle Program was faced with a lot of criticism as NASA depended on Russia to
get humans to the International Space Station. In the last few months, NASA has been taking major
steps in the production of its new rockets, which they plan to use to send astronauts into deep space.
This is part of the Journey to Mars incentive which plans to send humans to Mars in the 2030s.
The rocket they plan to take is called Space Launch Systems

14th Dalai Lama Essay
According to The Washington Post website, China does not want Mongolia to allow the 14th Dalai
Lama, a Buddhist monk of Tibet, to come for a visit. China believes that the Dalai Lama, also known
as Tenzin Gyatso, has a purpose of separating Tibet and China. They do not want China to provide any
form of support for this spiritual leader. The article does state that Dalai Lama s has spoken up saying
that this visit is purely religious nature and no meetings with officials are planned. This event is
important because according to Geng Shuang, if Mongolia does not side with the China s Foreign
Ministry on not allowing the visit of Tenzin Gyatso, then it will likely affect the ties between the
neighboring countries of China and Mongolia.
In 1959, the Dalai Lama fled from Tibet to India due to being against Chinese rule at that time. After
that, China has spoken up and opposed any foreign travels made by this monk. However, China does
not have much power over the Dalai Lama because he still made his ... Show more content on

They back up the argument by telling us what Geng Shuang, a ministry spokesman, reasoning as to
why this visit should not be allowed. The author gave reasonings as to why Mongolia would listen to
China s command and also why Mongolia wouldn t listen to China s command. Their sources were
reliable and they even gave background information to give evidence about why China is so skeptical
of this visit. No bias was detected from this article, but their organization was well thought out due to
the fact that they stated what the officials had to say, and then they gave the possible reasonings to
whether or not Mongolia would follow through with China s command. Overall, the argument to this
article was relatively supported and the article itself was well thought

How Peacekeeping Operations Evolved Over Time Essay
International peacekeeping efforts are a relatively new feature in military strategy. They have their
roots in earlier conflicts, most notably the First Schleswig War between Denmark and Prussia in 1849
1850. A combined force of 3,800 troops from both Sweden and Norway with the intent of maintaining
law and order and keeping the peace were assembled, while an armistice was worked out. This set the
precedent for peacekeeping operations that would become more commonplace in the twentieth
century. After the First World War, the League of Nations was established, the predecessor of what
would later become the United Nations. The League was established in large part to hopefully avoid
another world war as devastating as the Great War, as it was called. The League of Nations ultimately
disbanded, giving way to the United Nations, but peacekeeping operations increased and evolved to
encompass broader and more complex conflicts, including civil wars, which were ignored by the
League out of respect for a nation s sovereignty. This brief summary will address how peacekeeping
operations evolved over time and how these operations, or a specific operation, shapes the view of
peacekeeping operations by the American people. The League of Nations was established as a means
to ensure international peace and security through collective consultation and action. The early
peacekeeping operations largely depended on precedents, which established the rules and strategies to
be followed in

Ethical Decision Making Analysis
In society, individuals experience situations in which they tend to question whether their choices are
ethical. In the article, The Importance of Values and Cultures in Ethical Decision Making by Christine
Chimielewski, Chimielewski discusses the three principles which can help a person determine whether
they are the good or bad choice. The three principles for making an ethical decision are The Rule of
Private Gain , Everyone Does It , and Benefits Versus Burden . If a person is stuck in a situation where
they re indecisive about the choice, then the individual should look at the three principles. This article
relates to the story, Everyone Lives in a Flood Zone, because of the main character, Jack finds himself
in situations that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If an individual puts their life in jeopardy for another, then must care for that person s well being. The
author uses point of view to tell the story what Jake encountered during meeting up with Stephen. The

reaction to a dead body. The men were paddling in the direction of my brother s place. A human body
floated face down in the distance, his white T shirted back an island. Maybe that s your brother, the
bowler man hated man said (30). The bowler hatted man was happy when he saw a dead body near his
brother house. After this incident, Jack knew something was up, and as soon he spotted his brother he
tried to avoid him. He wanted to avoid him because he did want his brother to die and caught. Stephen
then calls out Jack s name which leads to the bowler hatted man and his crew approaches Stephen on
the rooftop. Jake did not know that they had set him up from the beginning, but the bowler hatted man
wanted Stephen to pay up his debts. Fear rushes through Jake s body and his first instinct is to
sacrifice everything he so his brother would not die. Jake immediately replies to the bowler hatted
man saying, I ll pay you triple, dog, I screamed. You re throwing away a fortune. Jake is willing to
give up everything for his brother. Ethical thinking involves the intricate process used to consider the
impact of our actions on the individuals or institution we serve. While most decisions are routine, we
can unexpectedly face an ethical dilemma when unusual situations occur suddenly for which an
immediate response is needed. This quote is related to Jack s experience when debating whether he
should save his brother or just let them kill his brother. When put into an ethical dilemma, a person
should try to evaluate their options whether choosing right from wrong. Jack made an ethical decision

New Year s Resolutions Are A Common Tradition
New Year s Resolutions are a common tradition ritualizing the end of one year and beginning of the
next. I once worked in an athletic club and the swell of people from Jan. 2 until about mid February
was expected. Regulars prior to the New Year grumbled, but expected it. Staff was temporarily beefed
up, happy to be more able to pay Christmas bills. The effect on everyone was temporary. Very few of
the new faces we met Jan. 2 were seen on the treadmill a mere 6 weeks later. This year, I was asked to
prepare a class about New Year s Resolutions and Christianity. I found very little tying the tradition of
New Year s Resolutions to the practice or faith in being a Christian. One strong connection involved
John Edwards (1703 1758), a respected theologian who served as President of Princeton University.
He was known, in part for tremendous rigor and discipline in improving his life, his thinking and his
relationship to God. His resolutions, which he reviewed regularly, can be found here:
http://www.biblebb.com/files/edwards/resolutions.htm. In preparation for class, I pondered the reasons
we fail so frequently on our resolutions. Trying to link Christianity with New Year s Resolutions, I
wondered how often we turned to God in trying to sustain the changes. New Year s Resolutions are
often a pull yourself up by your bootstrap intention. We expect to make often radical changes in our
perspective and routine. We expect to do this on our own power. The characteristics

Argumentative Essay On Buy Nothing Day
The rise of industrialization and manufacturing that began in the eighteenth century has drastically
changed the lifestyles of the world. No longer do citizens find, make, or trade for everything they need
at home and in their local communities, but instead they rely on national and global commerce to
provide for them. This shift in production is the basis for the annual Buy Nothing Day, which attempts
to reverse the ill effects of gross consumerism and spread awareness of the issues in our current
lifestyles. While many critics would point to the fact that one day will provide little to no discernable
impact on the problems faced, Buy Nothing Day will produce greater effects through the awareness it
provides than any actual deeds committed on that singular day. Widespread consumerism and the
materialistic society we live in has many detrimental effects on the environment. The factories,
vehicles, and resources used to sustain our goods based economy contribute greatly to global climate
change, pollution, and deforestation. Your coffee beans from Starbucks are harvested from dying out
forests in South America, among other places, and shipped to the location nearest you by using
excessive quantities of non renewable fossil fuels, all so you can receive your morning pick me up.
While refraining from purchasing that coffee on Buy Nothing Day alone will not provide an
immediate solution to the issue at hand, the ideals preached by the yearly event can make the

The Presence Of Rat Model Of Parkinson s Disease Induced...
The present study was established to show revealed the presence of neurochemical and
histopathological changes in the cerebellum of rat model of Parkinson s disease induced by the
intrastriatal injection of rotenone. This may change the strategy of the disease treatment that depends
mainly on the restoration of dopamine levels in the basal ganglia.
The present findings showed the development of hyperexcitability in the cerebellum of rat model of
PD induced by intrastriatal injection of rotenone. This was indicated from the significant increase in
the excitatory amino acid neurotransmitters; glutamate and aspartate and the significant decrease in
the inhibitory amino acids; GABA, glycine and taurine. These neurotransmitters are involved in many
functions such as motor behavior, cognition, and emotion (Ottersen and Storm Mathisen, 1986,
Schmidt et al., 1992)1,2. The balance between excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission is
important for brain to sustain proper neuronal function (Mel et al., 2004)[1]. Perturbation in
glutamatergic and GABAergic neurotransmission is associated with several neurological and
psychiatric disorders (Sanacora et al., 2004) (3) [glutamate gaba balance 1].
Functional neuroimaging study using PET or blood oxygen level dependent functional MRI frequently
demonstrated increased activation in the cerebellum in patients with PD during performance of
various upper limb movements (Rascol et al., 1997; Catalan et al., 1999; Wu and Hallett, 2005; Yu et

Essay about Freedom of the Flapper
Partying, drinking, and dancing; these are the adjectives most commonly associated with the life of a
flapper. While these descriptions are accurate, they do not inform people of the advantages and gains
flappers made for the female gender. The flapper embodied the idea of freedom from the usual duties
of a young female in the 1920s. These women were no longer tied down with the expectation that they
immediately become a wife and mother, as well as being conservative and modest. By diving into a
look at the fashion, music, and lifestyle of the flapper during the 1920s it will become obvious that
they were not only independent, liberated, and enjoying many more freedoms than they had
previously throughout history, but that they also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is in their style where they contrast the most greatly with the women of the 1920s. They
wore long skirts and dresses which hugged their curves and their hair was long. The look of the
flapper was drastically different from that of the earlier generations of women in the United States.
Their hair was cut into a short bob and they wore much more make up than previous women. The hem
line of the flapper s dresses rose to the knee and they began bounding their chests and wearing high
heels. Along with the rise of the hem line, nude colored stockings were favored over the former black;
the flapper also bared her arms; this gave off a much more naked look than any previous generations.
They did away with the corset and instead adopted the girdle, which simply flattened the abdomen
rather than emphasizing the waist. The infamous Gabrielle Coco Chanel s clothing designs became the
epitome of 1920 s style.1 Flappers who enjoyed dancing and jazz music were referred to as jazz
babies . The music of the 1920s included ragtime, blues, and jazz; all of which were considered to be
an American art.2 However, it is jazz music that resonated most thoroughly with the flapper. Jazz was
an extremely different type of music for this era in comparison to that of their parents. This new music
was loud and sultry with innovative and unusual rhythms; it was seen as being a bad influence which
led to an increase in the

unfair labor practices. All health care establishments are prohibited from engaging in any events or

The General Analysis Of Invertebrate Richness And...
DISCUSSION
The general analysis of invertebrate richness and diversity prove that shallow leaf litter is more
biodiverse than deep leaf litter. From graph 2, shallow leaf litter is proven to be more biodiverse where
the spread of invertebrate richness is higher with a relatively low rate of error denoted by the low
standard deviation. Similarly, figure 6 also shows a similar trend where the mean of shallow leaf litter
diversity was greater than deep leaf litter. The mean results of invertebrate abundance also show
shallow leaf litter to be more abundant, however this is affected by the extreme outlier seen in figure
2, where there is a large leeway for error due to the high standard deviation. This may be due to
human error due to transcription, an error in counting the amount of species or the designated shallow
leaf litter contained species that were extremely common, providing a large abundance value.
However, figure 1 and the comparison of boxplots in graph 1, show the overall values of deep leaf
litter are centred higher, indicating that deep leaf litter has greater abundance, excluding outliers.
Similarly, the analysis of richness and diversity indicate that deep light traps are more biodiverse than
shallow light traps and are quite trustworthy as shown by the low standard deviations. According to
figure 6, the mean of both habitats were very similar but deep light traps had a slightly higher mean.
Abundance of deep light traps also proves to be greater if we

Analysis Of Color And I Love Lucy
Color Lighting: How To Get Away With Murder I Love Lucy
How To Get Away With Murder, a modern 2015 law and murder television drama, and I Love Lucy, a
1951 live audience comedic sitcom, hold many differences in regards to color and lighting usage.
However, if thoroughly analyzed similarities can be discovered.
In the season finale of How To Get Away With Murder, the director makes great use of color by means
of transitional color, surrealism, color as a symbol, special effect colors, atmospheric colors, comic
colors and advancing colors. The director effectively uses color as a transition from past to present.
Dark green tinted scenes are used to signal a flashback to past. Soon thereafter, normal realistic colors
returned during present scene. Specific examples of this transition is when the audience is flashed
back to when Sam was murdered, when Annalise discovered his infidelity and when she found his
dead body inside their home. Realistic colors resumed after these scenes. Moreover, surrealism is
present in this episode, specifically when Annalise discovers Sam s dead body dripping with blood on
the wooden floor. The dark green atmospheric tints used in this scene altered the blood s red to appear
additionally nightmarish (Petrie Boggs, 2011, p. 204). Also, the colors in this specific scene contribute
to three dimensionality. The dark nature of this scene and green filter that succumbs the past, almost
makes Annalise blend into the night but her bright read

Fan Fiction Character Appropriation
Fan fiction and character appropriation
Fan Fiction is a transformative practice of writing fiction created by fans based on existing source
work or consists of elements copied from a story world, character or setting, the original source of the
work being expanded can include any qualified material such as novels, films, comics or games. Legal
implications arise due to the contemplation whether it is an infringement of copyright as a derivative
work . Authors generally have a varied opinion on fan fiction, some downright loath the practice,
where as some consider it unimaginative yet unconcerned by it and some compliment it. The creator
of the original work rarely authorises or commissions fan fiction and it is very unlikely to receive
publishing. It has long existed as a fan practice, although since the internet s inception it has amplified
exponentially and has evolved into a much more elaborate exercise, with various classifications, style
and sub genres. The legal issues surrounding fan fiction are in dispute of whether they are derivative
works infringing Copyright Law, for these stories are usually transformative of an original
copyrighted literary works.
Fair use is a common defence against infringement claims, or in Australia fair dealings may similarly
constitute defence, though fair use isn t entirely secure for fan fiction, despite many maintaining its
legality due to its non profit nature. Lucasfilm Ltd have always accepted fan fiction that respects the

Ancient Greek Philosophers
There has been much debate as to what change is, and is not. Ancient Greek Philosophers were not
indifferent to this. The early Greek Philosophers tried to explain what our world is comprised of,
whether it is monism (one true stuff, or reality), or pluralism (more than one reality, or stuff ). They
then proceeded to try to elaborate and explain how change and motion occur. Heraclitus conclusion
can be summed up in a quote of his: One cannot step into the same river twice. Parmenides and Zeno,
unlike Heraclitus, came to the conclusion that the world was practically an unmovable brick; there is
no change, there is no motion. Finally, Epicurus came to the conclusion that the world was formed
from indivisible, and constantly colliding atoms. Heraclitus was a monist. His interpretation of the one
and true reality was fire. This is not to be taken literally, because Heraclitus believed that the one
could never be any material thing, but was found in the orderliness of change. He said fire was always
changing yet somehow is always the same. He believed that everything is being changed constantly,
and this is occurring through a state of flux. By having orderliness, it becomes possible for the human
mind to comprehend the world, instead of it being entirely chaotic and based on the will of gods.
Since the rate of change is constant, an appearance of permanence exists. Hence, one cannot step into
the same river twice. (Jones 16) At first, it might appear as if you

Analysis Of Graham Norton s The Television Industry
The word genre has different meaning to different people. Lealand and Martin (2001) explain how the
television industry uses the term to categories and identify the various parts of its programming mix.
The audiences use it to identify and choose their viewing preferences (p. 59). The Graham Norton
Show comes under the genre of a celebrity talk show, but holds its own comedic spin. Norton creates
uniqueness to the show through the way he cracks jokes and interacts with his audience and guests.
The show begins with a witty introductory monologue of who will be on the show, then moves into
the classic couch interviews, and finishes with a celebrity music performance, conventions that all fit
with the talk show genre (Miller, Boddy Shattuc, 2008). The show focuses largely on the guests and
their lives, along with promoting what they are currently involved in, relating it back to the purpose of
the talk show genre (Miller, Boddy Shattuc, 2008). A subcategory of this genre is a late night celebrity
talk show, which The Graham Norton Show can also come under. According to Timberg, Bernard and
Robert (2010), the late night version is based on congenial, playful encounters between guests and the
host, who is more often then not a singer or comedian (p. 7). This subcategory became popular on
television in the 1950s, and increased in popularity thanks to shows such as The Tonight Show
(Timberg, Bernard and Robert, 2010). Since then they have become a lighter form of

Paint your front door. What does your front door look like right now? Does it look tired? Are there

front door. Maybe add a little burst of color while you re at it something like red, turquoise, or blue.

One of the most important things you can do to improve the curb appeal of your home is to clean up
your yard. Take the time to manicure your lawn and make it as green as possible (even if you have to
spray it green!). Trim the trees and bushes. Plant new flowers in your yard or even a tree (if feasible).
You may even consider installing flower boxes by your windows or in your front porch area.
Power wash your house. We don t realize how dirty our homes get over time. A good power wash will
take away the grime and allow your home s true color to shine through again. You can either rent a
power washer or hire someone to help you. Additionally, you should power wash your windows and
screens to make sure they are bright and clean as well.
Fix your driveway. When driving up to your home, one of the first things a buyer may see is your
driveway. What does it look like? Are there cracks in the concrete? Do you have trash cans in the
front? If so, do what you can to repair the cracks on your own, and simply move your trash cans to a
different location. You may even consider staining your driveway to give it a little extra

The Meaning Of Liturgy In Here Be The Dragons By Michael...
The meaning of liturgy may not be debatable but how that definition functions becomes contestable as
it is performed in different settings. Thus, when interpreting a liturgical theology, it would figure, that
the same notion would apply. Joyce Zimmerman writes, ...Who interprets liturgy? Is the realization
that the practice of liturgy involves a number of competencies at a number of levels. Liturgy by its
nature is not static there by constitutes a multileveled evaluation and approach when interpreting.
There are no set parameters or guidelines that designate the functional aspects of the liturgy. Liturgy
has the potential to take on any form it desires in order to accomplish the objective of moving people
to discourse. Liturgy has this Michael Jackson appeal. It has the ability to conform to certain
parameters when needed but always functioning within itself to meet its on transcendent perspective.
Like Michael Jackson, liturgy can masks itself in a litany of otherness in order to make itself more
appealing to others in order to further the discourse. James Baldwin highlights Michael s chameleon
like abilities in Here be the Dragons,
The Michael Jackson cacophony is fascinating in that it is not about Jackson at all. I hope he has the
good sense to know it and the good fortune to snatch his life out of the jaws of a carnivorous success.

Controversy Regarding Cannabis-Related Legislations in Canada
There is presently much controversy regarding Cannabis related legislations in Canada, as while there
is a great deal of individuals supporting conditions in the present, there are also numerous people who
are against contemporary laws. It is presently illegal to grow cannabis plants in Canada, but the
authorities allow cannabis to be consumed for medical purposes. Many people in Canada believe that
cannabis should be legalized in the country, with some of the most recent polls pointing toward the
belief that the majority of individuals in the country consider that the substance should not be illegal.
Although it would be difficult to assess the effects that legalizing cannabis would have, it is only safe
to assume that the government should express more tolerance concerning the substance, considering
that more than half of Canada s population has expressed its support in regard to the drug.
Individuals who consume cannabis for recreational purposes are certain that the fact that this
substance is included in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as illegal is proof that the authorities
directly discriminate them on account of their substance orientation.
Canada has a history in debating the use of cannabis and the circumstances when it can be beneficial
for the consumer and for society as a whole. The Canadian federal government encourages protection
for ill Canadians with degenerative health diseases (Jacob 2009, 210). The federal government

Curriculum In College Curriculum
Ethical Curriculum College campuses are used to further an individual s intelligence, and it allows the
students to compete for better paying jobs. Along with the apprehension of information that allows
students to go on to pursue a higher level profession, the responsibility aspect of ethical and moral
liability also increases. Students who graduate from college campuses should be held to a higher
standard when it comes to ethical and moral accountability. Also, having great professors to teach
ethics and morals in a classroom is a very important issue because when anyone learns anything from
someone they must respect that person. I believe that moral instruction and ethical content should be a
required part of the college curriculum because it increases the required respect towards one another in
a professional environments.
College graduates tend to go into higher positions in their companies, and they have a lot more power
than the average worker. With that power the expectation of having a higher sense of ethics and
morals are deeply required. If they do not have a clear understanding of those two things then
problems will occur within those corporations. In David A. Hoekema s essay, The Unacknowledged
Ethicists On Campuses, he discusses that the college consumers are initially attending college to foster
a deeper sense of humanity and with that they acquire the morality aspect along with the increasing
power of intellect. I do agree with Hoekemas statements in

accompanied by severe fatigue, insomnia, diarrhea and abdominal bloating, bladder irritation, and
headache, now known as fibromyalgia raises some rather interesting yet complicated issues in today s
health care field such as: What criteria must be met in order for a symptom or a set of symptoms, as is
the case here, to be classified as an illness or a disorder? What does the term illness itself mean? What
makes up the concept of health? In this paper, I attempt to tackle ... Show more content on

Health, in a positive sense, consists in the capacity of the organism to maintain a balance in which it
may be reasonably free of undue pain, discomfort, disability or limitation of action (Mishler 154).
Because of our modern definition and perception of illness or disease, some physicians may ignore
patients claims of having fibromyalgia, or may even dismiss the patients as crazy and refer them to
psychiatrists, since this is their only logical explanation for a patient complaining of pains who shows
no biological dysfunctions
Mohamed 3 through physical and/or laboratory exams. However, the presence of measurable
deviations from normal biological functioning is only one of the conditions for illness, certainly not a
necessary and sufficient condition (Mishler 159). Fortunately, some physicians look further into the
conditions, performing more detailed experiments with the patients to attempt to understand what
exactly is going on.
The process of social construction consists of a few main steps. First, is the acknowledgement by the
patient or a group of patients, or even an organization that there is an abnormal condition and feelings
of illness. Next are the decisions that must be made in order to diagnose the illness, but who makes
these decisions? Physicians have been granted by society the right to define criteria of

The Relations I Have With Siblings Essay
Writing Project One Rough Draft The Relations I have with my siblings are the most important in my
life for many reasons. My family includes my mom five siblings and I. Being the oldest child comes
with great responsibilities and lots of expectations. When I was eleven I wished I was the youngest
because I knew my younger brothers had the type of life I wanted. No chores just love and laughter
with some video games thrown in. I always held my feelings in and just kept them to myself, I did not
want to be a burden to mom. Looking back, I am truly happy my wish to be the youngest never came
true. I am happy my life turned out to be like coal that turned into a diamond only; from time and the
heavy pressure of exceptions and responsibility s. I Knew I was loved as a child, but I had so much
responsibility that at times I would quietly resent my mom for placing such a heavy burden on my tiny
shoulders. When all I wanted was to be like other children, without a care in the world, playing in a
playground with the beautiful sun shining down on us as our childhood minds captured these moments
to enjoy again as adults reminiscing about it as if it was an old video or picture. I remember keeping
my resent locked down and just being a good mommy s helper. All my sadness fears and things I
found to be a challenge would be kept in my heart. I would find my validation from helping other and
putting myself on the back burner because I felt like I would be too selfish if I just did not

You are what you eat. As people get busier with jobs and daily life they need to find short cuts to get

many women are excited once packaged Indian food arrived. However, many think this is questioning
their root identity as for Indian women it is traditional to cook. With that, this gives the child a sense

Separation Of Juveniles
In Chapter two, it discusses the separation of juveniles from the criminal justice system. It really stood
out to me that there were different groups and programs to help separate the youth. Those groups were
the Chicago Boy s Court and Youth Counsel Bureau. The Chicago Boy s Court used community
service groups such as a Catholic Church agency, a predominantly Protestant agency, a Jewish Social
Service, and the Colored Big Brothers. This really helped the youth because they were released into
their supervision. It also helped because the groups would evaluate the individual s behavior over time
and report back to the court. If the youth made satisfactory progress then the individual would be
released without a record. The Youth Counsel Bureau

First, we have to understand what a meeting is considered, know what government offices are covered
by open meeting laws then explain why it is open to the public. One of the California open meeting
laws is the Bagley Keene Act it applies at the state government level; it includes state boards, state
commissions and any other state offices that have to hold public meetings. Bagley Keene Act defines
meetings as a congregation of the members of a state body at the same time to hear, discuss or

The employees of the government offices are paid by the government hence the reason that I do not
believe they are considered a business at the government level.
The cities receive their revenue from companies, state and federal accounts. But, a lot is paid by the
residents of the state, for example; property taxes, permits, parks and recreation, homeowners taxes,
taxes from businesses, court fees and fines, utility companies and other outside franchises. City
revenue can also take fees for some services like, amusement taxes, and hotel occupancy.
Yes, a city can file bankruptcy. The city of Stockton in California filed bankruptcy, the question was
can they go bankrupt without having to reduce the pensions of public workers. It is the largest city that
filled and Detroit followed. When a municipality files bankruptcy the federal government has to
approve or deny it. Municipalities file under Chapter 9 of the Bankruptcy code. This is not a common
occurrence. The process varies from state to state. In some states, the city goes into state receivership
rather than actually filing. The most common reason is unaffordable union

Xia Shu s bow hung balanced on two metal hooks at the head of Jingyan s bed.

Past, Present, Future
Abstract
This past, present and future paper will reflect on my personal and professional growth during the time
frame that I was a student at the University of Phoenix. One of the themes that are explored in this
paper is that education is a lifetime pursuit. Another theme is what I am taking away from the
institution now that I have completed my course of study. Finally the paper sets future career and
personal goals to continue my lifetime of learning.
Past Present and Future

University of Phoenix I had attended Oral Roberts University, majoring in Management Information

My written work has gotten better and I have sharpened some of my information retrieval and
utilization skills.
The two general education courses taken during my course of study that have had the greatest impact
on my current and potential employment are Skills for Professional Development and Critical
Thinking and Computer Logic. I chose these courses because that helped to develop skills and tactics
that will help me to be a better employee to future employers as well helped me develop personally as
well.
I chose the Skills for Professional Learning class because it taught the concepts of team learning and
team problem solving. The most important thing that I learned in this course is what is referred to as
the 4P Meeting Management Model by the authors of the book Tools for Teams. This model teaches
that a successful team meeting consists of a defined purpose, the right participants, a plan and a
defined process.
I chose the Critical Thinking class because it was the first class I ever had that really defined and
elaborated on what critical thinking is. Critical thinking is the subconscious process that we go
through to solve problems, we can however teach ourselves to be better critical thinkers. In Keys to
Success the authors basically say that critical thinking deals with asking questions, considering
without judgment as many response as you can, and choosing responses that are as complete and
accurate as possible .

Tilting Right, TV News Analysis
An article in the New York Times was featured on the front page of the May 13, 2017 edition. The
article, titled Tilting Right, TV News Titan Roils Its Staff, features a small statistic on the front page
portion of the text, stating that the Sinclair Broadcasting Group, owner of many television stations in
the US reportedly uses its stations to spew right wing conspiracy theories and reports, apparently
reaching 70% of American households. While this statistic seems frightening at first sight, it may be
misleading, as it does not information about certain factors, thereby bringing its validity into question.

this political perspective is important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article continues to explain the growing concern among journalists about Sinclair s actions,
thereby continuing on the path of creating fear amongst readers. While there is truth to fear about the
situation, the level of concern being created is more than it should be, possible misleading some
readers into fearing right wing indoctrination or right wing political takeovers, as liberal audiences of
the New York Times may be more willing to believe. The 70% statistic used does not account for the
fact that not all people who have access to the TV stations will actually watch them. It is unlikely that
all these people will actually view these right wing segments on a day to day basis, as the article leads
one to believe. The statistic does not account for people who do not use their televisions on a daily
basis, or do not actually watch the stations screening the right wing stories. Te 70% does not account
for the proportion of television stations viewers have access to to the number of stations that have
these segments. For example, the article mentions that Sinclair Broadcasting Group owns around 200
TV stations. While this is a sizable amount, many television plans have over one thousand stations,
and many viewers may not even look at these 200 stations. The article also does not mention whether
all 200 stations are featured on all of these 70% of households. It is very possible that many television
sets of this 70% of household may only include 10 Sinclair stations. This would mean that the
probability of coming across one of these stations is even smaller, but those 10 stations would still
count as reaching an American household, going towards the 70%

In the online dictionary, masks are described as being a covering for all or part of the face, worn to

way that really captivates the viewers and helps to highlight and hide certain aspects. Not only does he
use the mask to shield the Phantom s deformation, he also shows what kind of person the Phantom is
with and without the mask, including his behaviour, and actions towards others.

that he uses them is with the characters. Every character in the play wears some kind of mask.

Beginning with vulnerability, it is obvious that the Phantom is much more defenseless, and much less
powerful without the mask on. When Christine removes the mask without his permission, he responds
very angrily, saying, Damn you! You little prying Pandora! You little demon...Curse you! You little
lying Delilah! You little viper! In doing so, he demonstrates a much more aggressive and contentious
persona towards her. In the midst of cursing and yelling at her, Erik threw her down, forcefully, after
she removed his mask. It is evident that from the above actions displayed by the Phantom, he doesn t
approbate the removal of the mask without his permission. Another gauge of his behaviour because of
the mask, is hidden deep within his self image. Here, we are able to find out what he actually thinks of
himself. Erik portrays himself as ...a loathsome gargoyle, who burns in hell but secretly yearns for
heaven... this repulsive carcass, who seems a beast, but secretly dreams of beauty . Similarly, he also
doesn t want anyone to know what he really looks like. After Christine removed the mask, the
Phantom said, Is that what you wanted to see?...Now you cannot ever be free! This goes to show that
Erik doesn t have very a ample self esteem, and does not wish for anyone to witness his true
appearance.

Typical Medium Dynamical Cluster Approximation
We generalize the typical medium dynamical cluster approximation (TMDCA) for systems with off
diagonal disorder.
By applying our approach to the Anderson model we consider the effects of nonlocal correlations and
typical environment beyond the local Blackman, Esterling, and Berk (BEB) method. %coherent
potential approximation.
Our formalism allows us to systematically study the effects of off diagonal disorder on the phase
diagram of traditional three dimensional Anderson model.
Disorder which is inevitably present in most real materials can drammatically affect their
properties~cite{Lee_RevModPhys,Belitz_RevModPhys}. It can lead to changes of their structure and
transport. One of the most prominent effects of disorder is the spacial confinement of charge carriers
known as Anderson localization ~cite{Anderson}.
The simplest model used to study these disorder effects is the
Anderson model which is a single band tight binding model with a random on site disorder potential.
Such a model is justified when the introduction of disorder in, for example a binary alloy by
substitution of host atoms by impurities, does not affect the neighbors and leads to the change of the
local potential on the substitution site only. In this situation the disorder appears only in the diagonal
terms of the Hamiltonian and hence is referred to as diagonal disorder (DD) case. However, in the
case when the bandwidth of from the dopant impurity atoms is very different from the band width

Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Quotes Analysis
For my image on Rime of the Ancient Mariner I displayed the key event in the novel of the crew

of the key themes in the novel this being taking responsibility for your actions and the idea of free
will. The crew members hung the albatross around the Ancient Mariner s neck to brand him for his
crime and place the guilt on him and him alone. I used the quote, Farewell, farewell! But this I tell to

This event is significant because the doctor is trying to see if he is equipped for the darkness he is
going to step into when making his voyage. This foreshadows the theme of the story this being that it s
not about the journey it s about the person you become as a result of it. The maps in Marlow s eyes
show his thirst for adventure or at least what he looked at as a thirst for adventure. By the end of the
book one sees that Marlow is not as much trying to escape the places he knows as much as escape
reality. He reveals in his stories that he is not one to like the conformity of life and ideas that are set in
stone guidelines that people are expected to obey. However throughout the remaining half of the book
you come to realize he is in a constant moral battle with himself. For instance the way he perceives
women as not able to survive on their own but then asking his aunt for the connection to land the job
he had wanted shows the constant battle Marlow is in with what he believes and what he does to
support his belief. I used the quote, For a time I would think i belonged still to a world of

The Use of Chiasmus to Highlight the Irony of Slavery in Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass
According to Barton and Hudson s Contemporary Guide to Literary Terms, a chiasmus is a rhetorical
scheme that is particularly effective in creating irony through the reversal of accepted truths or
familiar ideas (189). Frederick Douglass uses the chiasmus throughout his Narrative of the Life of
Frederick Douglass, an American Slave to highlight the irony of slavery s existence in a country that
was built upon the ideals of freedom. Throughout his autobiography, we find several specific instances

When his mistress taught him to read, she sparked a fire of humanity inside him that would continue
to grow until it eventually overpowered his slave qualities, and cause Douglass, the slave, to be made
into a man.
The transformation from slave to man occurred both over many years and in the space of a single
afternoon. The Narrative in its entirety is a story of that transformation, but the chiasmus found at the
beginning of Frederick s fight with Mr. Covey emphasizes that afternoon as the setting for the
metamorphosis. In the longer transformation, Douglass was made a man ultimately through his
willingness to take risks for the sake of freedom. He learned to read against his master s will, taught
his fellow slaves, and attempted escapes, all for the sake of freedom. A slave could not exist as a slave
forever with this burning desire for freedom within him. This lifelong risk taking for the sake of
freedom led up to the climactic afternoon where the slave fought the master and regained his
manhood. When Douglass fought Mr. Covey, he regained his sense of pride that had been taken away
from him. Mentally and spiritually, he was free. It was only a matter of time before he would no
longer be a slave physically either. Douglass uses the chiasmus to mark the beginning of this afternoon
to ensure that his readers will take note of its importance.
Douglass chose to mark the afternoon when his education was halted, the afternoon that made him

The problem in this case is that John Bramante came into his new position and started making major

were already in place before he came into his position. The causes of this problem were that John

amounts of money, changed the city s purchasing process, and changing people s positions within the

My third recommendation would be for John Bramante to be put on a 90 day probationary period.
This recommendation is in hopes that John will be able communicate better with the council and make
better decisions overall. This will also show the pubic that the city government is doing something
about the hasty decisions that are being made by the city manger. However the disadvantages to this is
that this simply may not work or it may only work up until the probationary period is over and the
cycle will happen all over again. After considering all the recommendations, it was determined that the
best course of action would be to have all further decisions that are made by John Bramante to be
approved my the majority of the city council members. This is the best choice because this assures
that the city manger and the city council consult with each other when major decisions must be made.
When it comes to how to implement this recommendation, it must be broken into three phases. The
first being the Defining phase this will consist of the council members determining the rules and
procedures to make this work. To do this the council must define what is considered a major decision
and what is not. Then next will then be to determine what is meant by majority vote . The council
must then come to an agreement on what will happen if majority of the council members do not
approve of the decision purposed by city manger. Then finally the

With a market capitalization of over $10 billion, Best Buy is the dominant player in this industry.
Competition in this industry is high primarily because there is little to no switching costs if a buyer
chooses to shop somewhere else. Likewise, products are not set apart: buyers can get comparable
products at almost all of the different electronic stores. As a result, companies like Best Buy have to
compete on prices and non tangibles, such as customer service and friendliness.
The threat of potential new entrants into the consumer electronics retail industry is relatively low. Best
Buy has forged a reputation for selling mid to high end product and excellent customer service. It
would be difficult for an entrant to challenge the company. Furthermore, it would be difficult to
undercut incumbent firms who have already established relationships with suppliers to purchase
merchandize at the lowest prices.
The substitute products, that may take a portion of the market share away from the consumer
electronics retail industry, do not create a huge or direct hazard. Today s society and culture place a
big emphasis on technology and it is highly reliant on electronics. The bargaining power of buyers for
electronic products is extremely low because the buyers primarily consist of a weak and divided group
of individuals, and technology has became a vital need for most people.
The suppliers for companies in the market have

The internet has provided many different sources for music streaming for listeners who wants to listen

allowed users to listen to music online without any paid subscriptions. Spotify is a free music app
where you can create a playlist from your results of any selection and also you can listen to pre
selected stations that based on genre. The service works as like a music library but instead of

YouTube is the second biggest search over Google and many more music service worldwide. It s
easier than ever to make a music video and put it online, which is more exciting but just because
everyone or anybody can make a good music video doesn t make its good. Music on the internet has a
very consumed and forgotten about on the daily basis but for many music artists they need something
bigger than an MP3 to get noticed by their music video. Music videos form a large part of an artist s
general creative vision and output. When you can stream your music anywhere and everywhere, a
music video is just a focal point to draws your attention toward to the video. Music videos are still an
important point for directors to explore creativity. They give the young talent towards the music artist

Cilician Armenia Influence
Cilician Armenian society was full of culture, had a thriving economy, and an established religion. It
had a mixed population, consisting of Armenians, Greeks, Muslims, Jews, and several Europeans. It
had a multi ethnic demographic, with many commercial and political links to Europe, specifically
France. This brought important and new influences to the Armenian culture. The nobles of Cicilian
Armenia embraced many features of Western European life, such as the fashion and the use of French
Christian names. Because of the close relationship with France, the structure of Cicilian society was
similar to Western feudalism instead of the traditional nakharar system of Armenia. For example,
Western titles like baron and constable substituted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This cultural influence was a two way street. Cilician Armenians impacted the Crusaders returning to
the West, especially with their architectural traditions. Armenian masons taught Europeans the
foundations of church architecture and Armenian castle design. During the Cilician period,
specifically the thirteenth, important models of Armenian art were produced. Cilician Armenia
prospered due to its strategic position on the eastern shores of the Mediterranean. It was located at the
juncture of many different trade routes, which linked the Persian Gulf and Central Asia to the
Mediterranean. This made the kingdom important in spice trade. Other important capitals were timber,
grain, wine, silk, and raisins, which were all exported from the country. During the reign of King
Levon, Cilician Armenia s economy flourished and became strongly cohesive with Western Europe.
King Levon was able to secure agreements with various parts of Italy, such as, Pisa and Venice, as
well as the French and the Catalans, who were located in northern Spain. These areas granted the
Armenians certain privileges, like tax exemptions in return for their business. Important Europeans
merchant communities and colonies came into existence. These places set up their own churches,
courts of law, and trading houses. French became the secondary language for the Cilician nobles, but
the secondary language for Cilician commerce became Italian, because of the Italian city states

Marriott Case Analysis
Marriott Corporation and Project Chariot The Marriott Corporation (MC), had seen a long, successful
reign in the hospitality industry until the late 1980s. An economic downturn and the 1990 real estate
crash resulted in MC owning newly developed hotel properties with no potential buyers in sight and a
mound of debt. During the late 1980s, MC had promised in their annual reports to sell off some of
their hotel properties and reduce their burden of debt. However, the company made little progress
toward fulfilling that promise. During 1992, MC realized that financial results were only slightly up
from the previous year and their ability to raise funds in the capital market was severely limited. MC
was left with little choice, as they had to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evaluating Project Chariot There are a several items MC must consider prior to making the ultimate
decision of whether or not to accept Project Chariot. The first of which is the potential advantages and
disadvantages of the company undergoing a spinoff. While the concept of getting smaller or breaking
up might seem counterintuitive for MC, the action has the potential to benefit the company and its
shareholders. The idea of Project Chariot is to split the parent company, MC into two entities, HMC
(existing company) and MII. The potential benefits of the de merger are the following:
(http://www.investopedia.com/university/mergers/mergers4.asp):
1. Equity holders benefit from the emerging profitable operations of Marriott (MII)
2. Both companies are able to generate additional equity funds
3. Corporate valuation is improved by providing strong incentives to employees who work in MII. For
example, publicly traded stock options are available for employees of MII, which should provide
motivation and reward.
4. The division enables management of HMC focus on core operations.
5. Shareholders are better informed due to separate financial statements.
6. Internal competition for corporate funds is reduced.
On the other hand, there are also disadvantages to consider
(http://www.investopedia.com/university/mergers/mergers4.asp):
1. Debt holders are saddled with HMC s struggling

An Inconvenient Truth In Apollo 8
An Inconvenient Truth ( 2006 ) Many people ask, What started the environmental movement? and the
answer is, a simple picture of the Earth during Apollo 8. The atmosphere is considered the vulnerable
part of the earth system because it s as thin as a piece of paper. There are ups and downs to
everything.. including infrared radiation. The good thing about that is it keeps temperatures at a
normal level so then it becomes livable but the bad new is that it could make it hot and to much gets
trapped.
Humans depend on water for survival. 40% of those people depend on glacial melt for their drinking
water. The importance of studying ice cores is to learn about the climate change. Between 1998 2005,
the hottest years were recorded on Earth.. When water temperatures increase during hurricane season,
the wind velocity also increases causing damage. Most people enjoy cruising down the lake on a hot
summer day, but for Lake Chad, it has almost dried up to nothing. The sun s radiation get reflected but
90%. Global warming winds and ocean currents redistribute energy from the equator to the north and
south pole. If the ice sheets in Western Antarctica were to melt, the sea levels would rise 20ft. Three
factors that cause collision between Earth and civilization are: population, technology, and the way
that people think. 30% of global carbon dioxide emissions come from forest fires. The U.S. has the
largest contributor of greenhouse gases and the lowest government

  • 2. The Meaning Of The Space Shuttle Program These days it seems like everyone is gearing up to go into space and NASA refuses to get left behind. From 1981 to 2011, the Space Shuttle Program dominated human space exploration for the United States, but since March 2011, NASA had no way to put astronauts into orbit. For this reason, the ending of the Space Shuttle Program was faced with a lot of criticism as NASA depended on Russia to get humans to the International Space Station. In the last few months, NASA has been taking major steps in the production of its new rockets, which they plan to use to send astronauts into deep space. This is part of the Journey to Mars incentive which plans to send humans to Mars in the 2030s. The rocket they plan to take is called Space Launch Systems ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. 14th Dalai Lama Essay According to The Washington Post website, China does not want Mongolia to allow the 14th Dalai Lama, a Buddhist monk of Tibet, to come for a visit. China believes that the Dalai Lama, also known as Tenzin Gyatso, has a purpose of separating Tibet and China. They do not want China to provide any form of support for this spiritual leader. The article does state that Dalai Lama s has spoken up saying that this visit is purely religious nature and no meetings with officials are planned. This event is important because according to Geng Shuang, if Mongolia does not side with the China s Foreign Ministry on not allowing the visit of Tenzin Gyatso, then it will likely affect the ties between the neighboring countries of China and Mongolia. In 1959, the Dalai Lama fled from Tibet to India due to being against Chinese rule at that time. After that, China has spoken up and opposed any foreign travels made by this monk. • 4. How Peacekeeping Operations Evolved Over Time Essay International peacekeeping efforts are a relatively new feature in military strategy. They have their roots in earlier conflicts, most notably the First Schleswig War between Denmark and Prussia in 1849 1850. A combined force of 3,800 troops from both Sweden and Norway with the intent of maintaining law and order and keeping the peace were assembled, while an armistice was worked out. This set the precedent for peacekeeping operations that would become more commonplace in the twentieth century. After the First World War, the League of Nations was established, the predecessor of what would later become the United Nations. The League was established in large part to hopefully avoid another world war as devastating as the Great War, as it was called. The League of Nations ultimately disbanded, giving way to the United Nations, but peacekeeping operations increased and evolved to encompass broader and more complex conflicts, including civil wars, which were ignored by the League out of respect for a nation s sovereignty. This brief summary will address how peacekeeping operations evolved over time and how these operations, or a specific operation, shapes the view of peacekeeping operations by the American people. The League of Nations was established as a means to ensure international peace and security through collective consultation and action. The early peacekeeping operations largely depended on precedents, which established the rules and strategies to be followed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Ethical Decision Making Analysis In society, individuals experience situations in which they tend to question whether their choices are ethical. In the article, The Importance of Values and Cultures in Ethical Decision Making by Christine Chimielewski, Chimielewski discusses the three principles which can help a person determine whether they are the good or bad choice. The three principles for making an ethical decision are The Rule of Private Gain , Everyone Does It , and Benefits Versus Burden . If a person is stuck in a situation where they re indecisive about the choice, then the individual should look at the three principles. • 7. New Year s Resolutions Are A Common Tradition New Year s Resolutions are a common tradition ritualizing the end of one year and beginning of the next. I once worked in an athletic club and the swell of people from Jan. 2 until about mid February was expected. Regulars prior to the New Year grumbled, but expected it. Staff was temporarily beefed up, happy to be more able to pay Christmas bills. The effect on everyone was temporary. Very few of the new faces we met Jan. 2 were seen on the treadmill a mere 6 weeks later. This year, I was asked to prepare a class about New Year s Resolutions and Christianity. I found very little tying the tradition of New Year s Resolutions to the practice or faith in being a Christian. One strong connection involved John Edwards (1703 1758), a respected theologian who served as President of Princeton University. He was known, in part for tremendous rigor and discipline in improving his life, his thinking and his relationship to God. His resolutions, which he reviewed regularly, can be found here: http://www.biblebb.com/files/edwards/resolutions.htm. In preparation for class, I pondered the reasons we fail so frequently on our resolutions. Trying to link Christianity with New Year s Resolutions, I wondered how often we turned to God in trying to sustain the changes. New Year s Resolutions are often a pull yourself up by your bootstrap intention. We expect to make often radical changes in our perspective and routine. We expect to do this on our own power. • 8. Argumentative Essay On Buy Nothing Day The rise of industrialization and manufacturing that began in the eighteenth century has drastically changed the lifestyles of the world. No longer do citizens find, make, or trade for everything they need at home and in their local communities, but instead they rely on national and global commerce to provide for them. This shift in production is the basis for the annual Buy Nothing Day, which attempts to reverse the ill effects of gross consumerism and spread awareness of the issues in our current lifestyles. While many critics would point to the fact that one day will provide little to no discernable impact on the problems faced, Buy Nothing Day will produce greater effects through the awareness it provides than any actual deeds committed on that singular day. Widespread consumerism and the materialistic society we live in has many detrimental effects on the environment. The factories, vehicles, and resources used to sustain our goods based economy contribute greatly to global climate change, pollution, and deforestation. Your coffee beans from Starbucks are harvested from dying out forests in South America, among other places, and shipped to the location nearest you by using excessive quantities of non renewable fossil fuels, all so you can receive your morning pick me up. While refraining from purchasing that coffee on Buy Nothing Day alone will not provide an immediate solution to the issue at hand, the ideals preached by the yearly event can make the participants ... • 9. The Presence Of Rat Model Of Parkinson s Disease Induced... The present study was established to show revealed the presence of neurochemical and histopathological changes in the cerebellum of rat model of Parkinson s disease induced by the intrastriatal injection of rotenone. This may change the strategy of the disease treatment that depends mainly on the restoration of dopamine levels in the basal ganglia. The present findings showed the development of hyperexcitability in the cerebellum of rat model of PD induced by intrastriatal injection of rotenone. This was indicated from the significant increase in the excitatory amino acid neurotransmitters; glutamate and aspartate and the significant decrease in the inhibitory amino acids; GABA, glycine and taurine. These neurotransmitters are involved in many functions such as motor behavior, cognition, and emotion (Ottersen and Storm Mathisen, 1986, Schmidt et al., 1992)1,2. The balance between excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission is important for brain to sustain proper neuronal function (Mel et al., 2004)[1]. Perturbation in glutamatergic and GABAergic neurotransmission is associated with several neurological and psychiatric disorders (Sanacora et al., 2004) (3) [glutamate gaba balance 1]. Functional neuroimaging study using PET or blood oxygen level dependent functional MRI frequently demonstrated increased activation in the cerebellum in patients with PD during performance of various upper limb movements (Rascol et al., 1997; Catalan et al., 1999; Wu and Hallett, 2005; Yu et ... While these descriptions are accurate, they do not inform people of the advantages and gains flappers made for the female gender. The flapper embodied the idea of freedom from the usual duties of a young female in the 1920s. These women were no longer tied down with the expectation that they immediately become a wife and mother, as well as being conservative and modest. By diving into a look at the fashion, music, and lifestyle of the flapper during the 1920s it will become obvious that they were not only independent, liberated, and enjoying many more freedoms than they had previously throughout history, but that they also ... They wore long skirts and dresses which hugged their curves and their hair was long. The look of the flapper was drastically different from that of the earlier generations of women in the United States. Their hair was cut into a short bob and they wore much more make up than previous women. The hem line of the flapper s dresses rose to the knee and they began bounding their chests and wearing high heels. Along with the rise of the hem line, nude colored stockings were favored over the former black; the flapper also bared her arms; this gave off a much more naked look than any previous generations. They did away with the corset and instead adopted the girdle, which simply flattened the abdomen rather than emphasizing the waist. The infamous Gabrielle Coco Chanel s clothing designs became the epitome of 1920 s style.1 Flappers who enjoyed dancing and jazz music were referred to as jazz babies . The music of the 1920s included ragtime, blues, and jazz; all of which were considered to be an American art.2 However, it is jazz music that resonated most thoroughly with the flapper. • 12. The General Analysis Of Invertebrate Richness And... DISCUSSION The general analysis of invertebrate richness and diversity prove that shallow leaf litter is more biodiverse than deep leaf litter. From graph 2, shallow leaf litter is proven to be more biodiverse where the spread of invertebrate richness is higher with a relatively low rate of error denoted by the low standard deviation. Similarly, figure 6 also shows a similar trend where the mean of shallow leaf litter diversity was greater than deep leaf litter. The mean results of invertebrate abundance also show shallow leaf litter to be more abundant, however this is affected by the extreme outlier seen in figure 2, where there is a large leeway for error due to the high standard deviation. This may be due to human error due to transcription, an error in counting the amount of species or the designated shallow leaf litter contained species that were extremely common, providing a large abundance value. However, figure 1 and the comparison of boxplots in graph 1, show the overall values of deep leaf litter are centred higher, indicating that deep leaf litter has greater abundance, excluding outliers. Similarly, the analysis of richness and diversity indicate that deep light traps are more biodiverse than shallow light traps and are quite trustworthy as shown by the low standard deviations. According to figure 6, the mean of both habitats were very similar but deep light traps had a slightly higher mean. Abundance of deep light traps also proves to be greater if we ... • 13. Analysis Of Color And I Love Lucy Color Lighting: How To Get Away With Murder I Love Lucy How To Get Away With Murder, a modern 2015 law and murder television drama, and I Love Lucy, a 1951 live audience comedic sitcom, hold many differences in regards to color and lighting usage. However, if thoroughly analyzed similarities can be discovered. In the season finale of How To Get Away With Murder, the director makes great use of color by means of transitional color, surrealism, color as a symbol, special effect colors, atmospheric colors, comic colors and advancing colors. The director effectively uses color as a transition from past to present. Dark green tinted scenes are used to signal a flashback to past. Soon thereafter, normal realistic colors returned during present scene. Specific examples of this transition is when the audience is flashed back to when Sam was murdered, when Annalise discovered his infidelity and when she found his dead body inside their home. Realistic colors resumed after these scenes. Moreover, surrealism is present in this episode, specifically when Annalise discovers Sam s dead body dripping with blood on the wooden floor. The dark green atmospheric tints used in this scene altered the blood s red to appear additionally nightmarish (Petrie Boggs, 2011, p. 204). Also, the colors in this specific scene contribute to three dimensionality. The dark nature of this scene and green filter that succumbs the past, almost makes Annalise blend into the night but her bright read ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Ancient Greek Philosophers There has been much debate as to what change is, and is not. Ancient Greek Philosophers were not indifferent to this. The early Greek Philosophers tried to explain what our world is comprised of, whether it is monism (one true stuff, or reality), or pluralism (more than one reality, or stuff ). They then proceeded to try to elaborate and explain how change and motion occur. Heraclitus conclusion can be summed up in a quote of his: One cannot step into the same river twice. Parmenides and Zeno, unlike Heraclitus, came to the conclusion that the world was practically an unmovable brick; there is no change, there is no motion. Finally, Epicurus came to the conclusion that the world was formed from indivisible, and constantly colliding atoms. Heraclitus was a monist. His interpretation of the one and true reality was fire. This is not to be taken literally, because Heraclitus believed that the one could never be any material thing, but was found in the orderliness of change. He said fire was always changing yet somehow is always the same. He believed that everything is being changed constantly, and this is occurring through a state of flux. By having orderliness, it becomes possible for the human mind to comprehend the world, instead of it being entirely chaotic and based on the will of gods. Since the rate of change is constant, an appearance of permanence exists. Hence, one cannot step into the same river twice. (Jones 16) At first, it might appear as if you ... • 17. Analysis Of Graham Norton s The Television Industry The word genre has different meaning to different people. Lealand and Martin (2001) explain how the television industry uses the term to categories and identify the various parts of its programming mix. The audiences use it to identify and choose their viewing preferences (p. 59). The Graham Norton Show comes under the genre of a celebrity talk show, but holds its own comedic spin. Norton creates uniqueness to the show through the way he cracks jokes and interacts with his audience and guests. The show begins with a witty introductory monologue of who will be on the show, then moves into the classic couch interviews, and finishes with a celebrity music performance, conventions that all fit with the talk show genre (Miller, Boddy Shattuc, 2008). The show focuses largely on the guests and their lives, along with promoting what they are currently involved in, relating it back to the purpose of the talk show genre (Miller, Boddy Shattuc, 2008). A subcategory of this genre is a late night celebrity talk show, which The Graham Norton Show can also come under. According to Timberg, Bernard and Robert (2010), the late night version is based on congenial, playful encounters between guests and the host, who is more often then not a singer or comedian (p. 7). The meaning of liturgy may not be debatable but how that definition functions becomes contestable as it is performed in different settings. Controversy Regarding Cannabis-Related Legislations in Canada There is presently much controversy regarding Cannabis related legislations in Canada, as while there is a great deal of individuals supporting conditions in the present, there are also numerous people who are against contemporary laws. It is presently illegal to grow cannabis plants in Canada, but the authorities allow cannabis to be consumed for medical purposes. Many people in Canada believe that cannabis should be legalized in the country, with some of the most recent polls pointing toward the belief that the majority of individuals in the country consider that the substance should not be illegal. Although it would be difficult to assess the effects that legalizing cannabis would have, it is only safe to assume that the government should express more tolerance concerning the substance, considering that more than half of Canada s population has expressed its support in regard to the drug. Individuals who consume cannabis for recreational purposes are certain that the fact that this substance is included in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as illegal is proof that the authorities directly discriminate them on account of their substance orientation. Because of our modern definition and perception of illness or disease, some physicians may ignore patients claims of having fibromyalgia, or may even dismiss the patients as crazy and refer them to psychiatrists, since this is their only logical explanation for a patient complaining of pains who shows no biological dysfunctions Mohamed 3 through physical and/or laboratory exams. However, the presence of measurable deviations from normal biological functioning is only one of the conditions for illness, certainly not a necessary and sufficient condition (Mishler 159). Fortunately, some physicians look further into the conditions, performing more detailed experiments with the patients to attempt to understand what exactly is going on. The process of social construction consists of a few main steps. First, is the acknowledgement by the patient or a group of patients, or even an organization that there is an abnormal condition and feelings of illness. Next are the decisions that must be made in order to diagnose the illness, but who makes these decisions? Physicians have been granted by society the right to define criteria of ... My family includes my mom five siblings and I. Being the oldest child comes with great responsibilities and lots of expectations. When I was eleven I wished I was the youngest because I knew my younger brothers had the type of life I wanted. No chores just love and laughter with some video games thrown in. I always held my feelings in and just kept them to myself, I did not want to be a burden to mom. Looking back, I am truly happy my wish to be the youngest never came true. I am happy my life turned out to be like coal that turned into a diamond only; from time and the heavy pressure of exceptions and responsibility s. I Knew I was loved as a child, but I had so much responsibility that at times I would quietly resent my mom for placing such a heavy burden on my tiny shoulders. When all I wanted was to be like other children, without a care in the world, playing in a playground with the beautiful sun shining down on us as our childhood minds captured these moments to enjoy again as adults reminiscing about it as if it was an old video or picture. I remember keeping my resent locked down and just being a good mommy s helper. All my sadness fears and things I found to be a challenge would be kept in my heart. I would find my validation from helping other and putting myself on the back burner because I felt like I would be too selfish if I just did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The 70% statistic used does not account for the fact that not all people who have access to the TV stations will actually watch them. By applying our approach to the Anderson model we consider the effects of nonlocal correlations and typical environment beyond the local Blackman, Esterling, and Berk (BEB) method. %coherent potential approximation. Our formalism allows us to systematically study the effects of off diagonal disorder on the phase diagram of traditional three dimensional Anderson model. Disorder which is inevitably present in most real materials can drammatically affect their properties~cite{Lee_RevModPhys,Belitz_RevModPhys}. It can lead to changes of their structure and transport. One of the most prominent effects of disorder is the spacial confinement of charge carriers known as Anderson localization ~cite{Anderson}. The simplest model used to study these disorder effects is the Anderson model which is a single band tight binding model with a random on site disorder potential. Such a model is justified when the introduction of disorder in, for example a binary alloy by substitution of host atoms by impurities, does not affect the neighbors and leads to the change of the local potential on the substitution site only. In this situation the disorder appears only in the diagonal terms of the Hamiltonian and hence is referred to as diagonal disorder (DD) case.
