Compare And Contrast The Scarlet Ibis And Simon Birch
People with physical disabilities have with setbacks that make it harder for them to live normal
lives like most of the people around them. Some of these individuals learn to cope with them, try to
keep a positive mindset that helps them become better and stronger in their bodies and mind. In the
story The Scarlet Ibisand the movie Simon Birch, two boys who suffer from growing setbacks,
learn to live with their complications and persevere through their short lives while living them
to the fullest and navigating their way to accept themselves for who they are. Simon and Doodle
are very similar boys who both have the same disabilities and lifestyle, but the way they act on
them and the people around them act as a result of it is somewhat different. Both Simon and
Doodle have companions by their side throughout all or most of their lives. Simon had a best
friend named Joe, who loved him for who he was. He did not mind having a best friend who had
disabilities and was not the same as everyone else. For example, when Joe was riding his bike
with Simon next to him in a cart, some men laughed at them. Simon and Joe did not let them phase
their good moods and instead answered them with a rude remark and laughed themselves. This
showed that Joe valued his friendship more than the acceptance of society. Brother, on the other
hand, hated that his brother was different. He was always trying to change things about his
younger sibling Doodle and make him more like everyone else:

Cultural Changes In The 1990s
Thorne 1
The 1990s is a decade full of change for the better, but also the worse. There are many events that
happen during this decade that affect not only America, but also the world as a whole. During
these ten years, Americans experienced things never before thought possible. In this time people
see the end of a war, the beginning of a war, a huge advancement in technology, and the changing
in the morals for the country. The American people had two different presidents in the 1990s, these
two men changed America both in positive ways and negative ways. The culture during the 90s
changed drastically from the previous decade. The 1990s will be remembered as a time of
advancement and the great change that shapes the world still ... Show more content on

The World Wide Web was formed in the 90s forever changing the world. Since the invention of
the World Wide Web information has been at a person s fingertips and within seconds
information can be found. In the year 1998 the first MP3 player was created because of this
invention people were able to listen to music on the go with ease. In 1992 the first text message
was sent. Since the text message was invented communication changed like never before. Within
seconds a person can send a message across the world on his or her phone.
The space technology increased tremendously in the 1990s. In July 1997 the Mars Pathfinder
lands on Mars (By Sea and Sky 7). Also during the 1990s Eileen M. Collins was the first woman
to fly a Space Shuttle (By Sea and Sky 5). John Glenn was the first astronaut to orbit the Earth.
John Glenn s mission was conducted in 1962 it was the Mercury program. 33 years later, John
Glenn returns to space (By Sea and Sky 8). Today the space program has changed from what it

Faith and Organized Religion Essay
Many skeptics in today s culture are convinced that organized religion does more harm than good.
Many of these people make persuasive arguments that are or can be conclusive. In some cases,
they say, a church, has too much power, is filled with politics and its rituals take away from God
and put emphasis on one s self; therefore, faithis what matters. In the novel A Portrait of The Artist
as Young Man by James Joyce, readers see Stephen go through life with faith, surrounded by others
with faith and religious activities. After a while, Steven loses sight of true faith, forgets Godand
becomes an artist.
Faith is defined as the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. Many
people choose to either believe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The preacher then cautiously warns him that participating in this sin will take over his life. After
this confession, he found his faith and became a new man. Stephen began rituals, Sunday was
dedicated to the mystery of the Holy Trinity, Monday to the Holy Ghost, Tuesday to the Guardian
Angel... (Portrait, 103). Stephen immediately jumped from being only concerned with himself,
doing nothing for the Lord and engulfed in sin. Stephen even wore rosary, then at the end he lost
faith. Stephen consumed himself with acts and rituals so much that it could be said he lost faith.
The rituals took him away from God and put emphasis on what he wanted to be, an artist. The
rituals of organized religion pushed him to the edge.
As Stephen was in the transaction of sanctification, he started to go through the motions.
Stephen did everything according to feeling. For example, when he felt like he was not saved,
he repented to gain God s power. A restless feeling of guilt would always be present with him: he
would confess, repent, and be absolved, confess and repent again and be absolved fruitlessly
(Portrait, 109). Stephen was entirely in control of his own thoughts; he knew he could go back to
the way he was at any second. Stephen wanted to be free and to express himself for who he was
and not who everyone wanted him to be. After a long struggle between this ritualistic attitude, he
felt tied to the rituals of his religion. Stephen

Disadvantages Of Biometrics
There are various ways to implement biometric using current technology in this world. However,
which suit best for companies that want to implement their computer systems to check their
employee identifications. Also, there are people out there concerns that using biometrics system
will violate their privacy. Let s exam a few implementations regarding the biometricsthat the
technology is currently being used in the workforce. Biometrics have existed for a very long time
ago. People have used it and still used it in today s workforce. For instance, FBI uses Fingerprints
to verify a person s identification. The Government uses CAC Card to identify its employee using
the fingerprint on its chip and passports as well, etc.
Biometric is a system that detect a person s identification using a living person s behavioral
characteristics of that person such as fingerprints, hand gestures, voices, image scan like eyes, DNA
and other facial images. For example, FBI is implemented a new identification technology called
Next Generation Identification system. This new upgrade system will provide faster and more
accurate way to check someone s background like criminal history information for the FBI
agencies, law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies. The Next Generation Identification
checks the fingerprint that matches with the database records.
Another implementation of biometrics is using authentication to verify if someone s logging the
computer at work. Like in the US

Youth Culture Vs Pop Culture
Everything changes overtime. After World War II, America s birth rate exploded with more than 65
million children being born. As they grew, technology advanced and grew along with them. Regular
television broadcasts had begun at this time and radio stations also started broadcasting recorded
music, news, weather, sports, and talk shows. As time passed, technology had evolved immensely.
Teens today have changed with they years and now see things differently as they did back then.
These teens also have many similarities that have stayed with them in the young culture. After the
war, the youth had grown to have more liberty and now have a strong voice in the culture today.
In today s youth, teens and young adults do have some differences from the adolescence in the
1950s. The juvenility today truly relies on technology so much that it influences the culture. With
the technology acquired, many social media apps and networks greatly impact the teens today.
Trends and hashtags become famous easily by teens making a simple video of something viral.

the heavy beats and attention grabbing rhythm, rock n roll appealed to teens. The young adults
would buy recordings from famous artists, such as Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, and Bill Haley
and the Comets. Later in 1956, teenagers found their first rock n roll hero in music and movie
star, Elvis Presley. With all the new music coming out, not every teen could afford to buy new
albums or to listen to new music due to poverty. The 1950s saw a large expansion of the middle
class and at least one in five americans lived below the poverty line. As poverty became a big

Description Of The Image Of God
Description of the Image of God
Imago Dei which is Latin for the Image of God. In Genesis 1: 27 So God created mankind in his
own image... In the beginning it was Gods intent for mankind to posses the image of God as a
part of His creation. However, due to the fall of man into sin this image of God has been
corrupted from its original state and intent from what God intended it to be. In Genesis 9:6
Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has
God made mankind. Is an example that the image of God still existed even after the fall of
mankind into sin. John Calvin believed this to be true in his theology according to John S.
Hammet Calvin saw the image not as totally erased but hideously distorted and deformed. This
concept is what Calvin described as Total Depravity, nevertheless, the image of God was not lost
just distorted, and can be restored through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ if one chooses to
believe in Him. The New Testament affirms that Jesus Christ was sacrificed to cover our sins so
that we can be righteous in Him through His image. The apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 3:9 10
since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being
renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the one who created him. In this short but
powerful passage Paul tells us to restore the image of God within us which can now be
accomplished because of what Jesus

The problem is the need for technological resources that promote parental involvement for
improving the educational development of special education students. The specific problem is
identifying the technology that most effectively increases parental involvement in special
education. This study will use a qualitative method and case study similar to Hartas (2008) study of
the effects of parental involvement on students with Autism. Parents will participate in semi
structured interviews, questionnaires, and classroom observations to determine what motivates
them to be involved. The results should interest special education teachers who require assistance
from parents in order for students to attend school daily, participate in instruction, and continue to
exhibit progression in all areas of development. Revised Purpose Statement Qualitative Study The
purpose of this qualitative case study is to identify the technological resources that are most
effective in encouraging parents of special education students to be involved in the student s
education. The data collection design will include questionnaires, observations, schedule
restructuring, community involvement, and semi structured interviews to identify the areas of
improvement. The population will be composed of parents who have elementary aged special needs

Ordinary Men b Christopher Browning Essay
In the book Ordinary Men, Christopher Browning tackles the question of why German citizens
engaged in nefarious behavior that led to the deaths of millions of Jewish and other minorities
throughout Europe. The question of what drove Germans to commit acts of genocide has been
investigated by numerous historians, but unfortunately, no overarching answer for the crimes has
yet been decided upon. However, certain theories are more popular than others. Daniel Goldhagen
in his book, Hitler s Willing Executioners, has expounded that the nature of the German culture
before the Second World War was deeply embedded in anti Semitic fervor, which in turn, acted as
the catalyst for the events that would unfold into the Holocaust. It is at this... Show more content on

It is now that Browning goes in depth on the massacre that occurred in Jozefow. Of the
perpetrators, Browning mentions that many were middle aged policemen who were given a
choice of whether or not they wanted to take part in killing the Jewish population in this area.
The major who offered a reprieve from being involved in the slaughter was Major Trapp, of the
500 men who would be present, only a mere dozen would accept his offer. Afterwards, the
slaughter began with one soldier stating I shot the child that belonged to her, because I reasoned
with myself that after all without its mother the child could not live any longer; so to speak,
soothing to my conscience to release children unable to live without their mothers. (Browning 73)
It is at this point that Browning proceeds to put forth his argument as to why he believes what he
postulated in his theory. He uses this scene to catapult himself into an argument of why anti
Semitism was not the main driving force behind the killing. Years later, once the soldiers were
interrogated and the soldier recounted this scene to Browning and others, there was a glaring
omission, and that was of anti Semitism as a driving force to kill the Jews. Browning highlights this
important part of the discussion with the former soldiers as indicating that their sole motivation was
not just hatred

African American Women Inequalities During Ww2
Women were treated unequally during WW2. Even though women played important roles during
WW2, they were discriminated against. When all of the men were required to join the military, the
government encouraged women to occupy the factory jobs that were held by men. Women earned
ВЈ2.15 per week. Even though women did the same jobs as men, they still earned less money.
African American women didn t get jobs because they faced racism, discrimination, poor pay, and
were assigned to the worst jobs. The factory owners tried to avoid African American women from
working beside white women. African American women experienced discrimination in the military
during the war. African American women were only allowed to serve in black units. Even though

Social Stratification And Gender, Ethnicity, And General...
Historically, different physiological traits have correlated to specific allotments of form of capital
and therefore, to the social stratification system. Particularly, traits like gender, ethnicity, and
general attractiveness are all determinants to an person being socially stratified in a cohort. Social
stratification is a placement into a social position that can offer a spectrum of social effects. These
effects are generally considered positive, if the individual has a higher placement on the social
totem pole and considered negative with a corresponding lower placement. Utilizing Bourdieu s
popular model on forms of capital is conducive to a thorough understanding of how gender,

These social classifications are directly related with the allotment and creation of forms of
capital (Wells, 2008). In examining the the traits that have an effect on distribution of forms of
capital, race and ethnicity are among the most important in demonstrating the disparity in
society. Racial and ethnic minorities are subject to an automatic low social stratification out of
the gate (Chua, Mathews, and Loh, 2016). In developing an understanding of how these
designations get put into effect, noting the differences in terms of social capital is useful.
Racial and ethnic minorities due to a socially perceived inferiority, start with lower amounts of
social capital (Wells, 2008). Social capital is responsible for determining which social
connections one has and the interpersonal relations they can draw resources from (Chandler and
Munday, 2011). This form of capital is generally not allotted to an individual, rather to a group
or subsection of society inherently. In terms of ethnic minorities, social capital can be low,
which can play a role in access to other forms of capital. For instance those belonging to a group
characterized by high levels of influence, are likely to make contacts with those in a similar
social standing. This results in a higher likelihood that those people would be able to acquire
work in the same field. So if the individual is part of a sub section that is graced with large

religious intolerance instead of liberty, they have loyalty to the popeand not to the states, abide by
the commands of the pope and not of the constitution, and they have sovereignty for the pope and

The Juvenile Justice System And Juveniles
When it comes to discussing the criminal justice system and juveniles, there have been many
landmark cases that have made a significant impact on the juvenile justice system. The cases
arise from dealing with certain aspects that comes from handling juveniles entering the system.
Since juveniles are very different from adults they have to deal with them a certain way and a
case by case basis. The court cases concerning juveniles and the decisions that have come from
them is what has made what the juvenile justice system is today. Juveniles are not treated the
same as adults since juveniles are not ad developed as adults common sense wise. They don t
always know what is right from wrong and sometimes they do not have guidance or good
influences around them helping them in the right direction. In class we have learned that instead of
punishing them, the goal of the juvenile justice system is based on rehabilitation. For instance,
juveniles cannot be sentenced to death if under the age of 18 and also can not be given the
sentences of life without parole because they consider these punishments cruel and unusual for
juveniles. If the system is able to rehabilitate them and give them the tools they need, they have a
second chance at changing their lives for the better and getting away from all of the crimes. They
rather try to send them to programs or to complete community service to better themselves instead
of giving them hard time. The court cases that I will discuss is what

Cyber Crimes And The Crime
Abstract Law Enforcement have always been tasked with having to evolve with the trends in
crime throughout history. Unfortunately for Law Enforcement, they are always on the back end
of that and are often behind for months before being able to counteract. Cyber crimes are no
different. Cyber Crimes are a new and always developing form of crimethat bases its entire agenda
from taking advantage of its victims over the internet. Law Enforcement s job is to assess and
work to stop these crimes but it s not that easy. These cyber crimes are heavily in the favor of the
criminals and the lack of assistance to Law Enforcement makes it harder for them. The scams are
always changing and the costs are adding up as Law Enforcement takes on Cyber crimes.
Introduction Cyber crimes, as defined by dictionary.com, are criminal activity or a crime that

Elizabeth Woodville And Anne Boleyn
Women throughout history rarely receive attention for more than superficial causes: their influence
on style, manners, or less. However, many women found themselves contributing to the formation
of postmodern constructs of marriage for love, partnership, and fidelity. Foremost among these,
temporally and popularly, are the examples of Elizabeth Woodville and Anne Boleyn
. Undoubtedly,
these cases hold great significance to cultural studies of the temporal periods in which the
English identify as participants, but they also aid in seeing the eventual popular degradation of
women from chaste matrons and aloof maidens to lusty bawds and traitorous whores. By this
degradation and extensive primary sources, scholars can easily find these women as examples
of the use of one s image for power in redefining concepts of queenship, and also women who set
the standard to view the gradual combination of partner and lover in understanding social history.
Aristocratic women in the Court system as a whole find relatively little attention by the most
popular works on its culture. David Starkey , Alison Weir , and David Gunn , even though they
offer insights on topic largely relegated to popular histories and romances; women, in fact, receive
little merit for their Courtly careers. Yet, it is important to recognize that the late medieval and
Tudor Court offered an increasing number of roles for women to fill, as well as, a semblance of
stability. The key to the ability for young women to

inanimate object such as a rock. The ancient mariner destroys this contradiction in his act of
killing the Albatross. Coleridge masterfully pushes the boundaries of what is actually living and
the supernatural, by granting life to the inanimate and death to the animate. Shortly, after the
death of the Albatross the extraordinary bad luck of the sailors changes for the better, and they
now capable of navigating themselves out of the treacherous ice caps towards the equator. Once
at the equator the men are now under new drastic circumstances, while on calm seas, they are
completely out of drinking water. Coleridge continues to personify the sea, The very deep did rot:
O Christ!/... / Upon the slimy sea./ About, about, in reel and rout / The death fires danced at night;
(Lines 123, 126 128). Coleridge details the ocean and the living creatures that live inside, and in
doing so he is

The World Of The Arab Emirates
Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is
planning a new megaproject, The Mall of the World. This project will be located in Al Sufouh,
Dubai, which is one of the seven emirates that compose the United Arab Emirates. The United Arab
Emirates is located in the eastern end of the Arabian Peninsula. It also extends part of the Gulf of
Oman and the Persian Gulf on its southern coast. This positioned the country to have bordering
countries such as Saudi Arabia to the southwest, Qatar and Iran in the north, and Oman in the east.
This enhances the United Arab Emiratestrading with neighboring countries which led to a positive
effect on the economy. Yet, the sandy and barren city strives to improve their economic standing
each and every day. With a population of 9.2 million, the country continues to grow and expand to
further their reputation as one of the richest country in the world. One of the most important part
of the United Arab Emirates history is their federation being formed in 1971. Specifically, this
federation had a huge effect on Dubai. In Dubai becoming part of the seven emirates, there was an
increased influence on the city s development and growth. Even as the city saw an influx in
immigrants fleeing from the Lebanese civil war in December 1971, Dubai together with Abu
Dhabi, the capital, and 5 other emirates, formed the United Arab Emirates after the formal protector
of Britain left the Persian Gulf. The country s

Will Low Interest Rates Eventually Boost Corporate Risk Taking?
The intellectual foundation for cutting central bank policy rates to near zero is based on the
traditional view that a lower cost of debt funding will boost aggregate demand via an increase in
capital spending as well as higher borrowing by the private sector. The credibility of this viewpoint
has, however, been increasingly questioned over time, particularly in the wake of Japan s
prolonged experience with ultra low interest rates and its ensuing failure to encourage the growth of
private sector leverage. Nominal interest rates remain very low in advanced economies, but there is
considerable variation on inflation adjusted measures on a cross border basis. Real interest rates
remain high in Japan due to deflationary expectations, despite the fact that prices have ceased
falling. It was the persistence of deflationary psychology and high real interest rates that
consequently produced a prolonged corporate balance sheet recession, where the main objective
was to pay down debt. Risk taking endeavours, such as capital spending, were, therefore, off limits
during this period. Despite having much healthier balance sheets, Corporate Japan continues to sit
on a mountain of cash, equivalent to 48% of GDP. Meanwhile, US companies also continue to
operate with high levels of liquidity. The willingness to use leverage during the current cycle has,
however, been somewhat higher in the US vis Г vis Japan. There is also a

Alexis De Tocquevilles Jury System
The jury is a magistracy , as described by Alexis de Tocqueville, happens to be one of the
greatest attributes of the democratic system. The jury is a sworn body of people called together
to give an impartial verdict or to even set a penalty or judgement which is submitted to them by a
court. In other words, they are to decide upon the truth or falseness of factual allegations based on
the facts that they have found. In order to weigh up the evidence and decide the accurate facts of
the case, the juryhas to apply the law which is directed to them but the judgein order to reach a

The Emergence of Check Imaging Technologies and the Impacts of to Banks and Consumer and
Small Business Customers
Thanks in part to advancements in check imaging technology; financial institutions have an
opportunity to make major changes to outdated check processing systems. Bank executives are
weighing the benefits with the potential risks of updating a system that has been virtually
untouched since the 1970 s.
These emerging imaging technologies have the potential to remove the high transportations costs
associated with transporting physical checks and reduce the flow time (float) it takes between
check deposit and funds availability.

Lastly, all of these shortcomings to the conventional system prolong the time it takes for a customer
to deposit a check and receive the funds. Ultimately, any process improvements must create a
positive customer experience and reduce added exposure to both the customer and the banks.
A Closer Look At Check Imaging Truncation
With advancements in check imaging capabilities and Check 21 legislation (allowing for banks to
us a duplicate image of a check in lieu of the physical check), banks now have the opportunity to
address the process pain points that have plagued its check processing systems for years. For this
analysis, the focus will be on the various check processing imaging solutions that can optimize the
conventional check processing system. While the ACH system can be considered a bottleneck for
some banks, there have been made incremental improvements over time. Further, the ACH system
improvements requires the cooperation and partnership with the Federal Reserve and the governing
body for electric payments, The Electronic Payments Association.
Check imaging technology is a popular solution among financial institutions because each bank can
apply the technologies differently to fit its current systems. Check imaging is the process of
making a digital image of the check and using that image to

The 1970 s was a major time period for bodybuilding, some say the most important time period for
this sport. From the best bodybuilder ever to live breaking records and winning titles to poems
about the life of a bodybuilder. The main topic for this essay is American Culture in the 70s but to
summarize it down, bodybuildingis what the topic is because without the 70s, bodybuilding would
not be as popular as it is today. Arnold Schwarzeneggeris the best bodybuilder known to man.
Reason is because he had the drive, the determination , the mind set to never give up and always
keep pushing yourself. The 70s was the biggest time period for him because he won his

Chronic Illness Of The American Population
A child is not their disease, neither is their family. However, it is often difficult for them to
disconnect their self from the detrimental effects of it. In spite of the fact that the majority of the
American population appears quite healthy, over 32 million children are currently suffering from a
chronic illness. According to njhealth.org, chronic illness is an illness that may last throughout a
person s life, although the frequency and severity of symptoms can change. Nearly 43% of
American children are currently afflicted with at least 1 of many chronic ailments ranging from
diabetes to cancer. Many of these children may never return to their precedent state of well being;
physically, emotionally, socially, and psychologically. During such horrific times as these it is
important to remember that the children are not the only ones suffering; their family is as well.
Children who are physically ill have a tendency to feel more psychological distress than those who
are not. A decrease in ones physical healthcan lead to and increased risk of depression,
hopelessness, helplessness and anger. Social and relationship issues that are extremely common
amongst patients who are ill also cause an increase in these emotions. Disease has the ability to
ravage the self and outside relationships. It is especially important during times such as these to
remember that ones physical and emotional health is in correlation to one another. Your body

The Process Of Management By Exception
So, the process of management by exception is essentially about ensuring the management focuses
on the policy strategies and decisions, getting involved with the day to day activities only when
large deviations occur. What about the principles? What are some of the core characteristics you
need to ensure are in place for the system to work?
A systematic approach
Management by exception requires a systematic approach to work. What this means in practice is
that all the operational needs and requirements of the organisation must be properly understood
and outline. Essentially, the organisation must be aware of everything going on and have a clear
set of standards it follows. Management by exceptions cannot be achieved without a proper set of
standards and procedures. Quite simply, you can t notice deviations, if you don t even know what
the standard or the so called norm looks like.
The framework requires a rather meticulous approach to implementation. In order to establish a
systematic approach and guarantee positive results, your should take the following steps:
Analyse operational needs and requirements, as well as data.
Create and maintain a set of policy standards.
Collect, classify, draft and interpret reports.
Make decisions based on the pre determined requirements.
If you have a set of goals for the management style, you focus on determining the deviations your
organisation should be alarmed by, and you establish a routine for collecting and analysing data,

Police Officer As A Officer
Within all police departments in the United States there is police rank. Which is a ranking of
officers in command from either highest to lowest or lowest to highest. The ranking starts with the
Chief of Police than the Deputy Chief, Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Detective, and lastly your
regular officer. The Chief of Policeis in charge of the department and everyone below him or her.
The person in command right above officers is usually a sergeant or lieutenant and this is the
officers direct boss rather than the chief of police. Having different ranking for officers is
important because those that are higher in command are the ones that are in charged and train the
new officers when they come into the police department. When training the new officers those
higher in command, tell them what is wrong and what is right and let them all how the police
department works. So it only seems right that when an officer takes part in police misconduct not
only should that officer be held responsible for the police misconduct, but his superiors as well.
However, when police misconduct takes place within law enforcement an officer in high
command is rarely held accountable for the wrongdoing that has taken place. Instead the blame is
place on the law rank officer. Whoever is in high command like the Chief of Police or Captain
should be held responsible for what has taken place within their police department. An officer that
is high in command should as well be held accountable is

Sea World of Hurt
When I was little, I used to always want to go out and visit Marineland. At the tender age of 5 I
was mesmerized Free Willy, the kid s film about an orca who is freed into the wild by a little
boy. I was amazed by the creature on the screen every time I watched the film, it never got old.
Of course at my age I did not quite understand why Willy had to be freed from the seemingly nice
pool he was allowed to be living in. It was what made me want to visit Marineland to see one of
these guys up close. I visited for the first time when I was about 10, and I do not remember
everything but what I do remember is that I was more enticed with the rides and the gift shop
than I was with their orcas. I used to question why, but now I get it. The orca we saw was
underwhelming, because of the sheer sadness it emanated from the other side of the glass where it
swam around in its small living area. It was not Willy, the fun orca from my childhood. It was the
stark reality of a combination of solitude and mistreatment. I learned recently that the orca in Free
Willy was released from captivity 9 years after the film came out in 1993, and it died in the wild
after only a year because it was too dependant on us. We are the ones that created this mess. This
mess of literal killer whales, of poor living conditions of these animals, the way we have ripped
them from their natural habitat and put them up for show. SeaWorldplays a big role in this business.

Hawaii Creole English By Hawaii Pidgin
Hawaii creole english, or in other words pidgin, is based on the english language, but also
containing words from many other languages. Some of those languages include Hawaiian,
Japanese, Portuguese, and more. Hawaii pidgin english is widely used in everyday conversations,
television shows, and advertisements. Hawaiicreole english was created many years ago, but is
used by a large number of people on the Hawaiian islands, as well as on the mainland. Hawai i
creole english was first established around the 1800 s, when Hawaii started recruiting laborers
from all over the globe to work on the sugar plantations. The laborers consisted of people from
China, Portugal, Japan, Korea, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, the Philippines, and other countries
(Hargrove, Sakota, and Siegel 1). Since there were such a diverse group of people, they all spoke
different languages. Which made it hard for them to communicate. Thus, Hawai i creole english
was soon developed and became the primary source of communication among all the different
ethnic groups (Thompson 1). During the plantations, the children born during that time period were
starting to attend school. That is when many of them first came into contact with standard english,
since majority of them already spoke hawaii pidgin(Scanlan 1). Ever since the plantations, more
than half of Hawaiis population today speak pidgin. Majority of the Hawaii pidgin comes from the
english language, but are also contained from other languages.

Essay On Option Pricing
Option Pricing
Paper trading really helps you grasp the fundamentals, However, when buying and selling options
in the open marketplace with real money, things change quite a bit. During your simulations I bet
you wondered about option pricing. If you wanted to geek out, you could use a complicated
formula like the infamous Black and Scholes equations. Instead of eating aspirin by the hand full,
let s just focus on the basics. An option is a derivative, which means that it is based on the value of
another asset. Thus, the stock price or underlying asset is an important feature in determining the
pricing. When you want to buy a stock, you want to buy it for a cheap as possible, this works the
same way for options. Here are the factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You make money with an option if there is a favorable change in price of the underlying asset, but
this must happen before expiration. Therefore, the longer the lifetime of the option, the better
chance there is for that opportunity. Generally, the more time remaining on an option makes it
worth more However, there is also more time for the stock to move in an unfavorable direction as
well.
TYPE OF OPTION:
The type of option (put or call) is also highly relevant to pricing. Calls are expected to increase in
value as the price of the underlying asset increases. While puts are expected to increase in value
as the underlying asset s price decreases. The other factors discussed can also affect the option.
Options for stocks that pay a dividend are often worth less because the dividend is priced into the
option. VOLATILITY: Some would argue that volatility is the greatest factor in determining the
price of an option in the marketplace. Realistically, all of the other factors, strike price, type, interest
rates, dividend, are known, where volatility isn t. Since options are derivatives, stocks and options
are interconnected. For either investment, volatility is one of the most important elements to
consider. As an option buyer, you can use historical movements in price to make some projections.
However, option prices are based on IV implied volatility. Implied volatility, most often

Speech On Social Expectations
Often in their lives, individuals are plagued by unrealistic societal expectations that threaten
individual s personal moralities which lead them to act in certain ways that they would later regret.
A person s desire to be a part of a community, one in which they can feel accepted by social
standards, is what can ultimately bring them to their morality s demise. Despite having social
expectations bring down one s honour due to certain situations, it is important to remember that at
times, it is not the outside world that inherently plagues individuals, rather, it can be the individuals
themselves. Social expectations that seep into our own egos have the power to make one s own
expectations into something that can set individuals up for failure. However, as tragic as certain
mistakes can be, it is important to remember that the recovery from one s downfall is what matters
the most. In order to effectively restore honour and certainty in oneself, one must learn to take a
proactive approach to their adversities stemming from unrealistic social standards that brought them
to their downfall. As human beings require feelings of accomplishment, honour, and certainty in
order to most effectively function and achieve other feats in their lives, a proactive approach to the
adversities that threaten their honour and certainty is vital. Recently, I have been dealing with my

Power And Power Of Women In Lysistrata By Aristophanes
Aristophanes is thought to have been born between 447 and 445 BC in Athens, during a period in
which Athens had cultural and political dominance in Greece. In Athens during the year 411, the
disapproval of the war by wealthy citizens led to the destruction of the democracy and the creation
of an oligarchy. Aristophanes wrote Lysistrataduring this time of political strife. Lysistrata is a play
about a Lysistrata, an Athenian matron, that asks all the women of Greece to refrain from having
sex with their husbands until the men sign a peace treaty to end the Peloponnesian war. The women
s power and leadership displayed in the play was in direct contrast with the legitimate role of
women in Ancient Greece. Lysistrata shows women of strength, power, and determination.
Although, Aristophanes occasionally presents the women in a stereotypical manner, his positive
portrayals of women overwhelms this, whereas the men in his play are never shown in a favorable
fashion. Regardless of Aristophanes s intent, I argue that the ancient Greek play, Lysistrata,
empowers women even to this day.
Aristophanes shows the intelligence and power of women in his play Lysistrata. The women in
Ancient Greece had little rights, especially in politics. Women stayed at home and were kept
separate from society. Their primary role was to birth and care for children. However, in Lysistrata,
the women are intervening in politics, and Lysistrata works as the leader that bands the women of
Greece together.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of telling stories using moving images?
The overall objective and purpose of telling a story is to engage with the audience to convey the
meaning of a plot and create a human connection on an emotional level (Batty p292). Stories can
be told in a variety of ways, and the method by which a story/narrative is told determines the way in
which we connect and interact with it emotionally. Each mode of story telling is capable of

Without the presence of any dialogue a feeling can be created by the way the camera moves and
reveals what is on screen. Whether this be a pan across the screen, a slow or fast zoom in or out,
a certain perspective shot or a point of view. The way the camera moves, allows the audience to
feel a sense of involvement as if they are part of the action because of the accompanying movement
of the eye following what is happening on screen (Ganz p228).
As Bubb states technology now offers speed and fluidity (p370). In story telling this relates to the
pace at which the information is understood and also the structure in which the information is
presented. When using moving images to tell a story the control over space and time that the
storyteller has is very different to that when telling a story using the written or spoken word. The
film Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino demonstrates the notion of being able to control and
manipulate the relation between space and time very well. It is a film with a complex narrative that
has a non linear structure, where a combination of interlinked stories are told out of order, yet the
flow of the narrative still runs smoothly and keeps the audience in suspense. The irregular pattern in
the film where it fluctuates and jumps from scene to scene shows a combination of images that are
discontinuous moments, rendered continuous (Ganz 2010 p 229). We have the knowledge that
these moments clearly can not

Unforgiven Film Techniques
Unforgiven is an incredible movie directed and produced by Clint Eastwood. Clint Eastwood also
plays the lead role as William Munny. Unforgiven revolves around a pig farmer who has long
retired from his outlaw and killer ways; however, due to the daily struggles of the west, Munny
needs money to support his children. Unforgivenis relevant to the class due to our studies of the
settlement out west. The three literary devices best captured in Unforgiven are setting, plot, and
characterization. The first literary device Clint Eastwoodeffectively captures is the setting in
Unforgiven. The most notable is the opening scene. In the opening scene we see Munny digging
the grave of his late wife Claudia. Her grave is placed under a single tree as... Show more content on

The protagonist of Unforgiven is William Murry. Murry s values stem from his late wife
Claudia. With Claudia s help, Murry has turned from his murderous and drunken ways. Now that
Murry is left to fend on his own, he has decided to return to his old ways. He feels guilty because
Claudia would not want this, but he feels that he must do it for his children. Murry reflects on his
old ways and feels guilty. Ned tells him that he is not like that anymore and to no worry about it.
Ultimately due to Ned s death, Munny begins to drink and returns to his murderous ways. With the
effective use of characterization, the audience was able to sympathize with Munny, due to the death
of his wife. The audience also felt apathy once he returned to his old

Respect and Why the Marine Corps Has a Rank Structure. Essay
Respect and why the Marine Corps has a rank structure. There are very few things in the modern
military of today or any military that has ever existed before our current military for that matter,
that are more important than the rank structure and the the respect that is demanded of you by
that rank structure. Those are two very important characteristics of every successful military
unit. With added details here and there, in this essay I will mainly be discussing what respect
actually is, how being respected is normally earned and in the military how it is demanded of
you as a sub ordinate to any ranks higher than you or in some cases any fellow military personnel
who is more senior to you and why. On top of that I will be covering... Show more content on

We must see that potential. We all need respect, regardless of how immature and gay we behave.
We all need others to see our potential and honor it to better encourage us to grow into it. Some
respect sound judgement, some strength or power. Some respect altruism, some purposefulness.
Parents and teachers may provide initial guidance but what you respect in a person is ultimately
your privilege. A Privilege. However skewed my opinion might be the fact is that in most cases
respect is earned by the actions towards an individual. All that being said the military works a
little different. Respect in the military is demanded of you by your Superior Officers, NCOs and
others of same rank that have three months more salt on there collar. This is where not so much
the definition but the reason it is given can get shifty. It is when one must absolutely show
respect without the normal necessity of actually respecting that person specifically. You are
respecting the title held by a male or female that is above you, normally by a pay grade or 4 and
in the Commissioned Officers case, on a whole different level than you are as an enlisted man.
Not to say that one cannot find an Commissioned Officer or Non Commissioned Officer that
actually deserves it for his or her character traits. Because I haven t met too many Non
Commissioned or Commissioned officers that don t deserve respect for all reasons. Most of the
time good leaders are placed in

Principles Of The United States Fish And Wildlife Service
The United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is the primary agency that works to

The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock
T. S. Eliot uses irony and symbolism to capture the reader s attention in The Love Song of J.
Alfred Prufrock. The poem has a dramatic discourse. The percipience of life s emptiness is the
main theme of the poem. Eliot exhorts the spiritual decomposition by exploring a type of life in
death. T. S. Eliot, who in the Clark Lectures notes, Real Ironyis an expression of suffering (Lobb,
53), uses irony and symbolism throughout the poem to exemplify the suffering of J. Alfred
Prufrock who believes he is filled with spiritual morbidity and lack of feeling. Eliot utilizes various
ironic interjections from other poets, and he uses ironic satirical rhyming phrases that fashion a sort
of inane contradiction. Eliot uses many symbols to show... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
211). These protuberate his own complicated perspective of inadequacy and weakness, as well as
the spiritual desensitization and idiopathy into the environment of the dark city landscape with the
simile that signifies the living death of Prufrock s existence (Hargrove, 211).
Another way that T. S. Eliot shows personal and social rejection is by the use of insignificant
objects and body parts. I have measured my life out in coffee spoons (51), signifies the
tediousness of his life mongermane reveries, as well as, his lack of achievement (Contemporary
Literary Criticism, Vol 55 351). Prufrock is fearful he is becoming old, bitter and devoid of
happiness. Eliot uses subordinate objects such as coffee spoons and cigarette butts to suggest the
triviality of his existence (Contemporary Literary Criticism, Vol. 55, 350). The repetition of the
word time suggests that Prufrock is bored due to an overabundance on his hands (Bloom, 18).
Consequently he dons a necktie and clothing that appear to constrain him as he grooms to attend
this tea party in hopes of one day asking the question. J. Alfred Prufrock is an extremely ill at ease
man who worries that the women will not determine him desirable with his spindly arms and
balding head (Contemporary Literary Criticism, Vol 3, 136). His heightened ability of introspection
and aggregate of anguish is the very attribute that effectuates his dissimilarity from his peers. His
comprehension of age and social status cripple

The Bone Marrow
The bone marrow is layers of tissue found inside bones, made up of specialised cells called
megakaryocytes which have the responsibility of producing thrombocytes(platelet) (6). The main
role of platelets is the formation of blood clots to prevent excessive bleeding which can have
dangerous complexities on health. Thrombocytes work on a specific layer called the endothelium
made up of simple, squamas cells called endothelial cells. The function of the endothelium is to act
as a semi permeable barrier, assist in vasoconstriction/dilation and help in thrombosis. When this
layer is damaged, bloodcan rapidly escape, in that case platelets form bonds with protein fibres.
By binding together, it blocks the space for blood to escape out of the blood... Show more content

Enteric coating is made up of many tightly bound cellulose fibres. This coating is designed to be
pH dependant and prevents dissolution or release of the drug. This is to prevent it interacting with
the body at those regions especially the stomach. Aspirin is particularly harmful to the stomach
because of the impact it has on prostaglandin production. Prostaglandins have numerous functions
one of which is a process called cytoprotection. (10) Cytoprotection reduces HCL production from
the parietal cells and stimulate alkaline mucus production needed for neutralisation, which are
necessary to protect the mucosa from damage caused by gastric juices and acids. Furthermore,
prostaglandin help dilates vessels to increase the volume of blood flow to the stomach, in turn
increasing rate of repair and renewal of cells and as importantly carrying away acids from the
stomach which can damage the mucosa lining (11). Therefore, by preventing prostaglandin
production, the gastric acids can continue to attack the mucosa lining and this can lead to excessive
bleeding enhanced by the anti platelet properties of aspirin which further prevent clotting or even
form ulcers. Problems with a bleeding

The American Civil War
Wars, Wars and rumors of wars!!!! Everyone knows the United States has had its fair share of wars.
Let me start by giving you a brief list of wars the United States has participated in according to
Wikipedia. Both Barbary Wars (1801 1805, 1815 1816), Wars of 1812, Mexican American War
(1846 48), American Civil War(1861 65), Indian War (1865 91), Spanish American War( 1898),

present). And that s just the major wars. Out of all of these wars the one that I will discuss is the
American Civil War. First, I will enlighten you on why I chose the American Civil War. Next, I
will expound upon the reason that commenced the American Civil War. Last, I will inform you on
what the after effects were from the American Civil War. The American Civil War just might be
one of the most historic and significant wars for the United States of America s history. Some might
say well what about the American Revolutionary War? Well then let me help you distinguish the
difference between American Revolutionary War and the American Civil War. The American
Revolutionary War was the battle between Great Britain and thirteen of its North American

Concerto Grosso Music
Baroque Concerto Grosso
A Concerto Grosso is a genre of music where the musical material is passed between a small group
of soloists (the concertino) and a full orchestra (the ripieno). The concertino generally has more
virtuosic music than the ripieno, and they do not often share thematic material. It was developed in
the late 17th Century, although the term Concerto Grosso would not be used until 1698 when
Gregori published a set of 10 compositions.
There are 2 forms of the Concerto Grosso the concerto da chГesa (a church concert) and the
concerto da camera (a chamber concert). The concerto da chГesa alternated between fast and slow
movements, and the concerto da camera was similar to a suite, in that it was introduced by a
prelude, and incorporated popular dance ideas of the time.
Concerto Grosso in D minor Concerto Grosso in D minor was composed by Antonio Vivaldi and
was published in 1711. The concertino is made up of two violins and a cello, and the ripieno is
made up of strings and a continuo. For the first 20 bars of the piece, the two solo violins play
unaccompanied. The second movement (the Adagio e spiccato) is extremely short (only three bars
long), and the instrumentation is tutti, as everyone is playing. In the third movement the solo cello
does not play as the solo violins converse with each other. The Concerto is in D minor, and rarely
changes key, however it does modulate briefly to the subdominant and the dominant keys (G minor
and A minor).

Becoming Homeless Myself
The green papers flew in the air as I swam threw the piles, cautious as to where to step, but at the
same time enjoying myself. I swam to the other end in my bronze coloured, two thousand dollar
swimsuit. Half way I was stopped, not by someone, but something. A paper cut. I grab the paper
and rip it up in anger, losing one hundred dollars. I fetch Jameson and tell him to get me a Band
Aid. Putting on my shirt, my phone rang. I quickly finished buttoning and attached my golden
Rolex watch, glancing at the screen. Unknown number, now who could that be? I tap my phone
and the call has been started. Hello? I ask curiously. Ah, yes this is Carson James, thirty years of
age living in Toronto Ontario and of the Christian background. Hmm, Alright, good bye. I hang
up, cursing myself as I forget to give my address. Jameson comes up with the bandage and I peel
the protective paper off and gently apply it to my cut. Right after I finish, I m told there s a
package for me.Who could that be from? Surely not from the gentle man I was talking to before.
I walk up to the box, whipping out my Swiss Army pocket knife. Gently cutting the tape, I open
the box. Inside, were my custom shoes I ordered from Jordan. Cautiously removing the packaging
I pick up my Jordan s and put them into my shoe collection, five hundred collectable sneakers all
sitting there peacefully in their respectable places. I sit down tired. A

In the story The Scarlet Ibisand the movie Simon Birch, two boys who suffer from growing setbacks, learn to live with their complications and persevere through their short lives while living them to the fullest and navigating their way to accept themselves for who they are. Simon and Doodle are very similar boys who both have the same disabilities and lifestyle, but the way they act on them and the people around them act as a result of it is somewhat different. Both Simon and Doodle have companions by their side throughout all or most of their lives. Simon had a best friend named Joe, who loved him for who he was. He did not mind having a best friend who had disabilities and was not the same as everyone else. For example, when Joe was riding his bike with Simon next to him in a cart, some men laughed at them. Simon and Joe did not let them phase their good moods and instead answered them with a rude remark and laughed themselves. This showed that Joe valued his friendship more than the acceptance of society. Brother, on the other hand, hated that his brother was different. He was always trying to change things about his younger sibling Doodle and make him more like everyone else: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Faith and Organized Religion Essay Many skeptics in today s culture are convinced that organized religion does more harm than good. Many of these people make persuasive arguments that are or can be conclusive. In some cases, they say, a church, has too much power, is filled with politics and its rituals take away from God and put emphasis on one s self; therefore, faithis what matters. In the novel A Portrait of The Artist as Young Man by James Joyce, readers see Stephen go through life with faith, surrounded by others with faith and religious activities. After this confession, he found his faith and became a new man. Stephen began rituals, Sunday was dedicated to the mystery of the Holy Trinity, Monday to the Holy Ghost, Tuesday to the Guardian Angel... (Portrait, 103). Stephen immediately jumped from being only concerned with himself, doing nothing for the Lord and engulfed in sin. Stephen even wore rosary, then at the end he lost faith. Stephen consumed himself with acts and rituals so much that it could be said he lost faith. The rituals took him away from God and put emphasis on what he wanted to be, an artist. The rituals of organized religion pushed him to the edge. As Stephen was in the transaction of sanctification, he started to go through the motions. Stephen did everything according to feeling. For example, when he felt like he was not saved, he repented to gain God s power. A restless feeling of guilt would always be present with him: he would confess, repent, and be absolved, confess and repent again and be absolved fruitlessly (Portrait, 109). Stephen was entirely in control of his own thoughts; he knew he could go back to the way he was at any second. Stephen wanted to be free and to express himself for who he was and not who everyone wanted him to be. After a long struggle between this ritualistic attitude, he felt tied to the rituals of his religion. Stephen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Description Of The Image Of God Description of the Image of God Imago Dei which is Latin for the Image of God. In Genesis 1: 27 So God created mankind in his own image... In the beginning it was Gods intent for mankind to posses the image of God as a part of His creation. However, due to the fall of man into sin this image of God has been corrupted from its original state and intent from what God intended it to be. In Genesis 9:6 Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind. Is an example that the image of God still existed even after the fall of mankind into sin. John Calvin believed this to be true in his theology according to John S. Hammet Calvin saw the image not as totally erased but hideously distorted and deformed. This concept is what Calvin described as Total Depravity, nevertheless, the image of God was not lost just distorted, and can be restored through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ if one chooses to believe in Him. The New Testament affirms that Jesus Christ was sacrificed to cover our sins so that we can be righteous in Him through His image. The apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 3:9 10 since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the one who created him. In this short but powerful passage Paul tells us to restore the image of God within us which can now be accomplished because of what Jesus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Ordinary Men b Christopher Browning Essay In the book Ordinary Men, Christopher Browning tackles the question of why German citizens engaged in nefarious behavior that led to the deaths of millions of Jewish and other minorities throughout Europe. The question of what drove Germans to commit acts of genocide has been investigated by numerous historians, but unfortunately, no overarching answer for the crimes has yet been decided upon. However, certain theories are more popular than others. Daniel Goldhagen in his book, Hitler s Willing Executioners, has expounded that the nature of the German culture before the Second World War was deeply embedded in anti Semitic fervor, which in turn, acted as the catalyst for the events that would unfold into the Holocaust. Of the perpetrators, Browning mentions that many were middle aged policemen who were given a choice of whether or not they wanted to take part in killing the Jewish population in this area. The major who offered a reprieve from being involved in the slaughter was Major Trapp, of the 500 men who would be present, only a mere dozen would accept his offer. Afterwards, the slaughter began with one soldier stating I shot the child that belonged to her, because I reasoned with myself that after all without its mother the child could not live any longer; so to speak, soothing to my conscience to release children unable to live without their mothers. (Browning 73) It is at this point that Browning proceeds to put forth his argument as to why he believes what he postulated in his theory. He uses this scene to catapult himself into an argument of why anti Semitism was not the main driving force behind the killing. Years later, once the soldiers were interrogated and the soldier recounted this scene to Browning and others, there was a glaring omission, and that was of anti Semitism as a driving force to kill the Jews. Browning highlights this important part of the discussion with the former soldiers as indicating that their sole motivation was not just hatred ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These social classifications are directly related with the allotment and creation of forms of capital (Wells, 2008). In examining the the traits that have an effect on distribution of forms of capital, race and ethnicity are among the most important in demonstrating the disparity in society. Racial and ethnic minorities are subject to an automatic low social stratification out of the gate (Chua, Mathews, and Loh, 2016). In developing an understanding of how these designations get put into effect, noting the differences in terms of social capital is useful. Racial and ethnic minorities due to a socially perceived inferiority, start with lower amounts of social capital (Wells, 2008). Social capital is responsible for determining which social connections one has and the interpersonal relations they can draw resources from (Chandler and Munday, 2011). This form of capital is generally not allotted to an individual, rather to a group or subsection of society inherently. In terms of ethnic minorities, social capital can be low, which can play a role in access to other forms of capital. For instance those belonging to a group characterized by high levels of influence, are likely to make contacts with those in a similar social standing. This results in a higher likelihood that those people would be able to acquire work in the same field. So if the individual is part of a sub section that is graced with large ... The examples he gives are that the Catholics are opposed to the public school system, approve union of church and state, censor freedom of press and speech, teach religious intolerance instead of liberty, they have loyalty to the popeand not to the states, abide by the commands of the pope and not of the constitution, and they have sovereignty for the pope and not the people (371) He questions how the Catholics could both swear loyalty ... The Juvenile Justice System And Juveniles When it comes to discussing the criminal justice system and juveniles, there have been many landmark cases that have made a significant impact on the juvenile justice system. The cases arise from dealing with certain aspects that comes from handling juveniles entering the system. Since juveniles are very different from adults they have to deal with them a certain way and a case by case basis. The court cases concerning juveniles and the decisions that have come from them is what has made what the juvenile justice system is today. Juveniles are not treated the same as adults since juveniles are not ad developed as adults common sense wise. They don t always know what is right from wrong and sometimes they do not have guidance or good influences around them helping them in the right direction. In class we have learned that instead of punishing them, the goal of the juvenile justice system is based on rehabilitation. For instance, juveniles cannot be sentenced to death if under the age of 18 and also can not be given the sentences of life without parole because they consider these punishments cruel and unusual for juveniles. If the system is able to rehabilitate them and give them the tools they need, they have a second chance at changing their lives for the better and getting away from all of the crimes. They rather try to send them to programs or to complete community service to better themselves instead of giving them hard time. The court cases that I will discuss is what ... • 20. Elizabeth Woodville And Anne Boleyn Women throughout history rarely receive attention for more than superficial causes: their influence on style, manners, or less. However, many women found themselves contributing to the formation of postmodern constructs of marriage for love, partnership, and fidelity. Foremost among these, temporally and popularly, are the examples of Elizabeth Woodville and Anne Boleyn . Undoubtedly, these cases hold great significance to cultural studies of the temporal periods in which the English identify as participants, but they also aid in seeing the eventual popular degradation of women from chaste matrons and aloof maidens to lusty bawds and traitorous whores. By this degradation and extensive primary sources, scholars can easily find these women as examples of the use of one s image for power in redefining concepts of queenship, and also women who set the standard to view the gradual combination of partner and lover in understanding social history. Aristocratic women in the Court system as a whole find relatively little attention by the most popular works on its culture. David Starkey , Alison Weir , and David Gunn , even though they offer insights on topic largely relegated to popular histories and romances; women, in fact, receive little merit for their Courtly careers. The intellectual foundation for cutting central bank policy rates to near zero is based on the traditional view that a lower cost of debt funding will boost aggregate demand via an increase in capital spending as well as higher borrowing by the private sector. The credibility of this viewpoint has, however, been increasingly questioned over time, particularly in the wake of Japan s prolonged experience with ultra low interest rates and its ensuing failure to encourage the growth of private sector leverage. Nominal interest rates remain very low in advanced economies, but there is considerable variation on inflation adjusted measures on a cross border basis. Real interest rates remain high in Japan due to deflationary expectations, despite the fact that prices have ceased falling. It was the persistence of deflationary psychology and high real interest rates that consequently produced a prolonged corporate balance sheet recession, where the main objective was to pay down debt. Risk taking endeavours, such as capital spending, were, therefore, off limits during this period. Despite having much healthier balance sheets, Corporate Japan continues to sit on a mountain of cash, equivalent to 48% of GDP. Despite having social expectations bring down one s honour due to certain situations, it is important to remember that at times, it is not the outside world that inherently plagues individuals, rather, it can be the individuals themselves. • 39. Power And Power Of Women In Lysistrata By Aristophanes Aristophanes is thought to have been born between 447 and 445 BC in Athens, during a period in which Athens had cultural and political dominance in Greece. In Athens during the year 411, the disapproval of the war by wealthy citizens led to the destruction of the democracy and the creation of an oligarchy. Aristophanes wrote Lysistrataduring this time of political strife. Lysistrata is a play about a Lysistrata, an Athenian matron, that asks all the women of Greece to refrain from having sex with their husbands until the men sign a peace treaty to end the Peloponnesian war. The women s power and leadership displayed in the play was in direct contrast with the legitimate role of women in Ancient Greece. Lysistrata shows women of strength, power, and determination. Although, Aristophanes occasionally presents the women in a stereotypical manner, his positive portrayals of women overwhelms this, whereas the men in his play are never shown in a favorable fashion. Regardless of Aristophanes s intent, I argue that the ancient Greek play, Lysistrata, empowers women even to this day. Aristophanes shows the intelligence and power of women in his play Lysistrata. The women in Ancient Greece had little rights, especially in politics. Women stayed at home and were kept separate from society. Their primary role was to birth and care for children. However, in Lysistrata, the women are intervening in politics, and Lysistrata works as the leader that bands the women of Greece together. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. What Are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Telling a... What are the advantages and disadvantages of telling stories using moving images? The overall objective and purpose of telling a story is to engage with the audience to convey the meaning of a plot and create a human connection on an emotional level (Batty p292). Stories can be told in a variety of ways, and the method by which a story/narrative is told determines the way in which we connect and interact with it emotionally. Each mode of story telling is capable of presenting the same story in different ways. Humans are capable of both understanding and interpreting the different content and style associated with different modes of story telling. Without the presence of any dialogue a feeling can be created by the way the camera moves and reveals what is on screen. Whether this be a pan across the screen, a slow or fast zoom in or out, a certain perspective shot or a point of view. The way the camera moves, allows the audience to feel a sense of involvement as if they are part of the action because of the accompanying movement of the eye following what is happening on screen (Ganz p228). As Bubb states technology now offers speed and fluidity (p370). In story telling this relates to the pace at which the information is understood and also the structure in which the information is presented. When using moving images to tell a story the control over space and time that the storyteller has is very different to that when telling a story using the written or spoken word. The film Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino demonstrates the notion of being able to control and manipulate the relation between space and time very well. It is a film with a complex narrative that has a non linear structure, where a combination of interlinked stories are told out of order, yet the flow of the narrative still runs smoothly and keeps the audience in suspense. The irregular pattern in the film where it fluctuates and jumps from scene to scene shows a combination of images that are discontinuous moments, rendered continuous (Ganz 2010 p 229). There are very few things in the modern military of today or any military that has ever existed before our current military for that matter, that are more important than the rank structure and the the respect that is demanded of you by that rank structure. Those are two very important characteristics of every successful military unit. With added details here and there, in this essay I will mainly be discussing what respect actually is, how being respected is normally earned and in the military how it is demanded of you as a sub ordinate to any ranks higher than you or in some cases any fellow military personnel who is more senior to you and why. However skewed my opinion might be the fact is that in most cases respect is earned by the actions towards an individual. All that being said the military works a little different. These protuberate his own complicated perspective of inadequacy and weakness, as well as the spiritual desensitization and idiopathy into the environment of the dark city landscape with the simile that signifies the living death of Prufrock s existence (Hargrove, 211). Another way that T. S. Eliot shows personal and social rejection is by the use of insignificant objects and body parts. I have measured my life out in coffee spoons (51), signifies the tediousness of his life mongermane reveries, as well as, his lack of achievement (Contemporary Literary Criticism, Vol 55 351). Prufrock is fearful he is becoming old, bitter and devoid of happiness. Eliot uses subordinate objects such as coffee spoons and cigarette butts to suggest the triviality of his existence (Contemporary Literary Criticism, Vol. 55, 350). The repetition of the word time suggests that Prufrock is bored due to an overabundance on his hands (Bloom, 18). Consequently he dons a necktie and clothing that appear to constrain him as he grooms to attend this tea party in hopes of one day asking the question. J. The Bone Marrow The bone marrow is layers of tissue found inside bones, made up of specialised cells called megakaryocytes which have the responsibility of producing thrombocytes(platelet) (6). The main role of platelets is the formation of blood clots to prevent excessive bleeding which can have dangerous complexities on health. Thrombocytes work on a specific layer called the endothelium made up of simple, squamas cells called endothelial cells. The function of the endothelium is to act as a semi permeable barrier, assist in vasoconstriction/dilation and help in thrombosis. When this layer is damaged, bloodcan rapidly escape, in that case platelets form bonds with protein fibres. By binding together, it blocks the space for blood to escape out of the blood... (10) Cytoprotection reduces HCL production from the parietal cells and stimulate alkaline mucus production needed for neutralisation, which are necessary to protect the mucosa from damage caused by gastric juices and acids. Furthermore, prostaglandin help dilates vessels to increase the volume of blood flow to the stomach, in turn increasing rate of repair and renewal of cells and as importantly carrying away acids from the stomach which can damage the mucosa lining (11). Therefore, by preventing prostaglandin production, the gastric acids can continue to attack the mucosa lining and this can lead to excessive bleeding enhanced by the anti platelet properties of aspirin which further prevent clotting or even form ulcers. • 50. Concerto Grosso Music Baroque Concerto Grosso A Concerto Grosso is a genre of music where the musical material is passed between a small group of soloists (the concertino) and a full orchestra (the ripieno). The concertino generally has more virtuosic music than the ripieno, and they do not often share thematic material. It was developed in the late 17th Century, although the term Concerto Grosso would not be used until 1698 when Gregori published a set of 10 compositions. There are 2 forms of the Concerto Grosso the concerto da chГesa (a church concert) and the concerto da camera (a chamber concert). The concerto da chГesa alternated between fast and slow movements, and the concerto da camera was similar to a suite, in that it was introduced by a prelude, and incorporated popular dance ideas of the time. Concerto Grosso in D minor Concerto Grosso in D minor was composed by Antonio Vivaldi and was published in 1711. The concertino is made up of two violins and a cello, and the ripieno is made up of strings and a continuo. For the first 20 bars of the piece, the two solo violins play unaccompanied. The second movement (the Adagio e spiccato) is extremely short (only three bars long), and the instrumentation is tutti, as everyone is playing. In the third movement the solo cello does not play as the solo violins converse with each other. The Concerto is in D minor, and rarely changes key, however it does modulate briefly to the subdominant and the dominant keys (G minor and A minor). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
