The Endangered Species Act (ESA)
Extinction is nothing new to animal and plant species around the earth. Over the course of time on the
earth there have been five mass extinctions, with many predicting that a sixth has already begun due to
human fault. The Endangered Species Act (ESA) was designed to save both animal and plant life from
these great feat. The ESA has seen only a 2% recovery rate since it enactment (Why is U.S. Recovery
Rate (2%) for Endangered Species So Low?). Many critics and politicians have been calling for a
reformation of the act for years. The ESA is in need of a change in the following areas funding
distribution, time it takes to list a species on the endangered species list, and habitats on private land.

have been delisted 30 species were delisted due to recovery of the species, 10 species due extinction, 7
species due to taxonomic revisions, and 11 species due to legislative changes. 41% of the species that

Grand Duchess Anastasia Research Paper
The Grand Duchess Anastasia The mystery of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna has perplexed
people for many years. A majority of people have questioned what really happened on the night of the
Nikolaevna s murder, and if there were any survivors of her family at all. Many wondered if there was
any way possible for anyone to escape their awful fate that night. The mystery of Anastasia
Nikolaevna is still puzzling to this day. The Romanov s were of royalty in Russia. Her father, Nicholas
II, was the last tsar of Russia, making the family known throughout Russia and other countries.
Anastasia was the youngest of three sisters with one younger brother, who had health conditions. The
family had holy man, Grigori Rasputin, to look after and pray for their young son, who had regular
medical fits; these included excessive bleeding, often known as hemophilia. The Nikolaevna s lived a
fairly normal life ruling Russia, until the break out of World War I. During World War I Nicholas II
was determined to lead his army. When Emperor Nicholas II went to the front to take personal
command in the autumn of 1915, Rasputin became the decisive influence in the government, advising

The Importance Of Desegregation In Public Schools
Have you ever thought about how much history has changed since the dark days? The civil rights act
of 1964 finally ended segregation in public places. The civil rights was first proposed by president
John F. Kennedy, despite all the oppression from southern council members. Swann v. Charlotte
Mecklenburg board of education. Presented to the Supreme Court in 1971 this case was to determine
wether the respondents idea of the desegregation plan was an effective and reasonable attempt. The
constitutional mandate to desegregate public schools did not require all schools in a district to reflect
the judgement of the district s racial composition, but the existence of all black or all white schools
must not be shown to be the result of segregation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the year 1968 until 1969 more than 84,000 pupils were served in the school system.
Approximately two thirds of the Negro children attended schools which were entirely Negro or more
than 99% Negro. Guarantee to an order of a federal district court, the school board adopted a
desegregation plan for elementary schools... Brown v. Board of education was a milestone for the
Supreme Court. This case decided that racial segregation in schools was unconstitutional. This case
signaled the end of legalized
Futch 2 segregation in the schools of the United States. This case overruled the separate but equal
principle set fourth from the Plessy v. Ferguson case. May 17th, 1954 the Supreme Court immediately
decided that the case of Brown v. Board of education was a violation of the 14th amendment, making
it unconstitutional. Arguments were to be heard during the next term to determine just how the ruling
would be imposed. Just over one year later, on May 31, 1955, Warren read the Court s unanimous
decision, now referred to as Brown II, instructing the states to begin desegregation plans with all
deliberate speed. Although there were two unanimous votes against this ruling along with all the
resistance against the supreme courts ruling

Major Differences In The Movie 300
THIS IS SPARTA a famous quote from the movie 300 (2006) about the ferocious battles of the Greco
Persian wars across the western Mediterranean. Persia was the dominant empire of this time because
of conquering and expanding borders. They had the largest army of the time with around 700,000
800,000 soldiers. Sparta on the other hand was a smaller still powerful city state with highly trained
Military personnel. I think there are many minor differences that alter and change the way you see the
battle. Some of those minor changes in the movie not in the real battle are the Persians used rhinos and
elephants to ride into battle, Xerxes does not go into battle as seen in the movie and the Spartans did
not fight with any armor unlike the real battle. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the mighty Persian empire they never had any animals used for combat. During the hiding in
the shade scene, it showed the Persian archers shooting of what looks to be one million plus arrows
which is a huge overstatement because for one there was never that many arrows to block out the sun,
and second the wooden arrows would not stick in the metal shields the Spartans held. Another minor
difference within the battle was in the movie it showed Xerxes in the front lines of the battle. In the
movie Xerxes Talked to Leonidas and even reasoned for him to be warlord of Sparta and obviously
Leonidas refused. In reality Xerxes was far behind enemy lines where he couldn t get a spear in the
cheek. Xerxes was also never that tall or never wore those clothes he was much shorter, fatter and
wore fine silk clothes. Last minor difference was in the movie the Spartan soldiers were almost naked
when going into battle. Actual spartan soldiers were covered head to toe in metal armor and never
took their helmets off during combat. Also the Immortals looked like scream with a chrome face the
real ones looked like normal soldiers just with heavier

Why Should A Health Information Professional Possess A...
Ch. 1 review questions #1 Why should a health information professional possess a fundamental
understanding of the law? Because it allows the HIM professional to be consciously aware of the duty
and responsibility that he/she has in regards to patient confidentiality, privacy and security. It also
allows them to know what the repercussions might be in case they were to break the law. #2 Does a
single document or source of law exist where an individual can find all of the rules governing health
information? Why or why not? No. Since the laws and regulations are divided into federal, state and
local levels, they are interpreted differently by each of the court systems, all three different levels. This
makes it impossible for all law relating health information to ascend from a single source. #5 Explain
the concepts of stare decisis and res judicata. Stare decisis to let the decision stand operates in a
pyramid type fashion and is the doctrine that judicial decisions stand as precedent for cases arising in
the future. It is a fundamental policy of our law that, except in unusual circumstances, a court s
determination on a point of law will be followed by courts of the same or lower rank in later cases
presenting the same legal issue, even though different parties are involved and any years have elapsed.
Res Judicata a thing or matter settled by judgement ; in other words, the thing that has been decided.

Dance Marathon
Last One Standing Various painters use their works of art as a representation of feelings. They include
symbols, figures, and expression to reveal their emotions through the form of art. Philip Evergood s
painting Dance Marathon illustrates the desperate times surrounding the Great Depression. In the
scene, dancers compete for a cash prize as they see who can dance the longest. He portrays the cruelty
of the time through this vulgar setting. The painting easily captures the viewer s attention mostly from
the use of color, figure, spatial effects, and other techniques created by the artist. The size of Dance
Marathon is not oversized, but it is relatively large and invites the spectator to look at the painting.
The perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Red appears to dominate the painting and serves as an eye catching color. The use of intensely
saturated colors draws the attention to the front couple. Additionally, the red color plays with the mind
of the onlooker without them thinking about it. It suggests deep passion, anger, and struggle. The artist
intends to relay his feelings about the event to the viewer. His outlook consists of disgust towards the
great depression that leaves many taken advantage of due to desperation.
The couple positioned in the front appears very large to make the painting 3 D. The relative size of the
dancers drastically shifts to create a window into the painting. The viewer can imagine being a part of
the event and watching the poverty stricken dancers. The angle that the painting is at appears to be
almost a bird s eye view. This adds to the effect of feeling as part of the audience. Spatial features are
also added with overlap making figures look even more distant. Almost everything can be seen all the
way to the back of the painting as the lighting in Dance Marathon spreads equally throughout the
painting. Many lamps hang from the ceiling to give it a sense of many sources of light and to
distribute the light evenly.
Dance Marathon as the title brings clear understanding to the artwork. Marathon means an event that
lasts longer than normal and requires great endurance. The audience recognizes that the people
struggle to move because

How Wilfred Owen Presents the Horror of War in Dulce et Decorum est
In the First World War people wanted the young men to go to war, but no one really knew about
conditions of the fighting in the war. Wilfred Owen was one of the people who wanted to tell the
public what war was really was like. He tried to do that through his poetry. One of his poems Dulce et
decorum est shows the horror of war very well. We know that Wilfred Owen really does know what he
s talking about as he served through most of the war and died shortly before the armistice. I am going
to compare Dulce et Decorum est with other poems on the horror of war.

He also alerts our senses by saying As under a green sea I saw him drowning, this alerts our senses
because we can imagine ourselves seeing someone drown.
Wilfred Owen puts dramatic similes into his poetry. Like a devils face sick of sin is quite dramatic and
gives it an evil sound. I cannot imagine a devil being sick of sin, but I think that the face would e
distorted and twisted.
He also uses harsh constantan sounds. This is reflecting the sounds of the firing of rifles and shells;
they would be short sharp sounds. All these things give us a picture in our head of life in the trenches.
This helps a lot to the horror of war as an image is more powerful then words. , and giving us the
ability to picture the scene in the poem is giving us a good impression of war and its horrors.
The point of the poem was to deliver the horrors of war to the public so that they would stop seeing
the war as such a patriotic adventure. I think Wilfred Owen manages to get his point well in the poem.
The General is a bright poem with a bouncy rhythm. This may sound like it doesn t present the horror
of war very well but it adds the irony to poem as the message contrasts with the light hearted bouncy
rhythm. By saying the General in the poem and Siegfried Sassoon

Essay On Moral Dilemmas In The Crucible
What is a moral dilemma? A moral dilemma is a man versus self conflict. It is when a character has to
perform two different actions, but they can not perform both actions because it is not possible. Authors
use moral dilemmas in their writings to retain the reader s interest in the book or play and to have the
reader ask questions. People often face many life altering choices such as right versus wrong or good
versus bad. In The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, John Proctor chooses to die because he does not want to
blacken his name throughout Salem and to ruin his sons names when they grow up. John Proctor faces
one of his many moral dilemmas to confess to witchcraft in order to stay alive. In making this decision

The second moral dilemma John Proctor faces is to tell the truth and die as an honest man. He has the
choice to either lie in order to live or die with his friends in an honourable way. Proctor realizes that if
he choses to tell the truth he will no longer be the sinful man he thought he is, but would keep his
name in good standing and be a good role model for his sons. I have three children how may I teach
them to walk like men in the world, and I sold my friends? (IV.I). If John chooses to live he will be
looked upon by his friends and family as a liar and an unmoral man. He will not be able to function in
the Puritan society, so he comes to the conclusion to tell the truth and be put to death. He believes God
will save him because he is doing the right thing by choosing to die and he will be remembered for his
dignity. His wife Elizabeth watches the hanging and says, He have his goodness now. God forbid I
take it from him! (IV.I). As Proctor is about to be hanged, sunlight shines throughout the town
representing John made the right decision and he will be going to God. After all, John Proctor does
give up his life, but he knows he saves his sons from walking around with a tainted name and keeps
the names of his friends clean, not betraying them. John Proctor chooses to die by telling the truth and
dying an honest man. Even though he loses his life for his decision, he is able to forgive

Mgm Mirage Case Study
MGM Mirage
Introduction of the Company
MGM Mirage is one of the largest gaming industries in the United States and specifically Las Vegas,
Nevada. The two people responsible for the start of this empire are Kirk Kerkorian and Steven Wynn.
Kirk Kerkorian opened up the first MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1973. Steven Wynn moved
to Las Vegas in 1967 and after investing in land on the strip he later opened up the Mirage, followed
by Treasure Island and the Bellagio. The MGM Mirage was created during the merger in 2000, and
Steven Wynn is no longer affiliated with this company. Since this merger, MGM Mirage has grown
and acquired numerous other properties. Currently MGM Mirage acts as a holding company and

6. Airline Cuts
Airlines might cut down on services to Las Vegas and other vacation destinations if the economy
doesn t recover quickly. This would hurt tourism and revenues on the Las Vegas Strip. With less
people traveling it becomes more expensive for airlines to fly back an forth to destinations. 7.
Government Intervention
Government intervention could put downside pressure on the stock. Possible government intervention
increases risk, because the government is a big customer and has a history of making adverse changes
to the operating ability of companies in every industry. A government regulated industry increases
political risk, because government actions may not be in the best interest of citizen of that particular
country. Governments are usually inefficient with spending money.
Regulations are meant to protect the environmental and consumers. They take the form of permits,
package, etc

The Transcontinental Train Essay
The Transcontinental Train
Word Count: 603
Today I look back at my home. Or to put it correctly, what used to be my home. The Americans and
their hired Chinese and Irish men are, as we speak, running the tracks down that divide our land. Not
theirs, but our land. These people are laying down tracks separating our lives as we speak. Our entire
way of operating will be destroyed. And it doesn t seem like it only affected their side, but our
American side as well. They can now possibly be viewed as a greedy nation for the ill treatment of all
those immigrants. It seems the idea of The Transcontinental Railroad has more downs that ups;

With the raised tracks, herds of bison and buffalo are not able to cross over easily. That or the times
when trains come by, travelers decide to shoot the animals for sport, not like us who actually need the
beasts for food, clothing, and building. It isn t hard to believe that in near time, the herds of buffalo
will be completely wiped out. So in that belief, they have hypothetically already endangered the
buffalo that once flourished in the wide areas.
Although everyone thought a transcontinental railroad was a good idea, deep disagreement arose over
its path. The Northern states. The Americans who are sponsoring this build, and are hiring all of these
workers are not even trying to act like they care. There are these hard working men out here, only
earning a living of seven or eight dollars a month. It is horrible to see these men tricked out of their
labor, when in fact, they are doing these people a favor. And to know that they do not even care for the
health of their workers, makes me feel sick. While building a tunnel through a mountain, it collapsed.
This killed off a good percentage of the workers the Americans hired.
At the very end, The First Transcontinental Railroad was built It may have cost many live, those of

Marriage Is The Sacrament Of The Church
Marriage is one of the sacraments of the Church. The Catechism of the Catholic Church points out
that Christian marriage becomes an efficacious sign, the sacrament of the covenant of Christ and the
Church. An efficacious sign not only symbolizes or signifies something, but makes present what it
signifies. Marriage signifies and makes present the love of Christ to the baptized spouses; a love by
which Christ formed the Church as his spouse.
The image of the relationship between bridegroom and bride used to explain the relationship between
Christ and the Church in the scriptures are appealing to a natural human relationship. The Scripture
however shows that Christ s love for the Church surpasses natural human love. Christ s love for the
Church is a love of complete self giving expressed in his death on the Cross. In this same vain,
Christian marriage too aspires not only for natural human love, but also to Christ s love for the

In addition, for marriages that are celebrated within the Latin Catholic Church, canonical form
requires, among other things, that an authorized bishop, priest, or deacon ask for and receive the
spouses consent as the Church s official witness of the marriage celebration. For marriages of
members of the Eastern Catholic Churches, the assistance and blessing of an authorized bishop or
priest is required. The Holy Spirit binds the spouses together through their exchange of promises in a
bond of love and fidelity unto death. Their marriage covenant becomes a participation in the
unbreakable covenant between Christ the Bridegroom and his Bride, the Church. The same love that
defines the Church now defines the communion between the two spouses: authentic married love is

Business Policy Chapter 5-8 Essay
Chapter 5 DISCUSSION QUESTIONS What is the relevance of the resource based view of the firm
to strategic management in a global environment? it permits the organization to be seen as a whole In
doing so, the strengths and weaknesses within the firm can be examined. This is done because as
stated in the Hunger Wheelen (2006, 106) text, scanning and analyzing the external environment for
opportunities and threats is not enough to provide an organization a competitive advantage. five step,

Cultural intensity is the degree to which members of a unit accept the norms, values, or other culture
con tent associated with the unit. This shows the culture s depth. Organizations with strong norms
promoting a particular value, have intensive cultures, whereas new firms (or those in transition) have
weaker, less intensive cultures. Cultural integration is the extent to which units throughout an
organization share a common culture. This is the culture s breadth. Organizations with a pervasive
dominant culture may be hierarchically controlled and power oriented, such as a military unit, and
have highly inte grated cultures. All employees tend to hold the same cultural values and norms. What
are the pros and cons of management s using the experience curve to determine strategy? The
experience curve suggests that unit production costs decline by some fixed percentage (commonly
20% 30%) each time the total accumulated volume of production in units doubles. The actual
percentage varies by industry and is based on many variables: the amount of time it takes a person to
learn a new task, scale economies, product and process improvements, and lower raw materials cost,

Freudian Psychology Lord Of The Flies
Freudian Psychology in Lord of the Flies: In William Golding s allegorical novel Lord of the Flies,
examples of Sigmund Freud s psychological theories are illustrated within the main characters through
there personal thoughts and actions. Freud s theory explores the inner separations of the mind and the
effects on ones personality. Jack, the antagonist, can be seen as the immature and bloodthirsty Id, who
hungers for meat and stops at nothing to get what he wants. Piggy and Simon can be seen on the other
end of the spectrum as the SuperEgo, through their intellect and compassion. Ralph represents the
Ego, the middle ground between the two extremes, by his responsible decision making skills and
leadership qualities. All three characters balance each other out, and when either extreme gains too
much power, turmoil issues as seen in the end of the novel. Jack Meriweather is representative of the
Id in the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding. The Id is defined as the part of the psyche
associated with instinctual, repressed, or antisocial desires, usually sexual or aggressive. In its efforts
to satisfy these desires, the id comes into conflict with the social and practical constraints enforced by
the ego and superego. ( Freud). Throughout his time on the Island, the choir boy and eventual chief
partakes in several activities that lead readers to believe he depicts the Id. The Id represents the
unconscious part of the mind that is always within an individual. This

When Does Fair Use Become Theft and Viceversa
Who really owns ideas, and how long should they hold them? When does Fair Use become Theft and
vice versa?
Those are the question raised in Brett Gaylor s documentary RiP: A Remix Manifesto, raises alarms
for those who think copyright holders have become too aggressive about protecting their intellectual
property.
The documentary highlights the popular music artist known as Girl Talk. Girl Talk consists of one man
named Gregg Gillis and he takes parts from different songs (usually popular ones) and creates new
music of his own. He doesn t use any of his own materials at all. A lot of people consider his work
stealing and what is known as Copyright infringement; even though he changes the music so much,
you can t even tell what all of the songs he uses are. Girl Talk is known as a mash up artist, and
according to the documentary, mash up artists have stirred up quite a controversy with both the
Copyright Company and the other artists they take their material from.
Copyright problems arose with the advent of the free availability of information on the Internet. It was
easy for people to steal music, movies and images from the internet and use them to create their own
mash up piece. Prior to the internet copyrighting actually encouraged creativity. Once music sharing
websites like Napster began, musicians and other artists began suing and copyright laws became more
rigouous in their scope and enforcement.

The Interest Rates On Federal Student Loans Essay
College is not quite as optional as it once used to be in the era of our parents and their parents. To get a
job that will pay substantially more than with just a high school degree, it is becoming more and more
common for high school graduates to go straight to college. With the price of college skyrocketing, it
is extremely common to take out student loans (from the government or private institutions), all which
come with interest. This paper will focus on the different aspects of student debt, including rates, how
they compare with car and mortgage debt, forbearance and deferment, default and delinquency, and
adverse selection and moral hazard.
The interest rates on federal student loans are set every year depending on the 10 year treasury note
rate in addition to a fixed percentage depending on the loan type. They are set by the United States
Congress. Depending on the type of loan you acquire, your rate will be different. Direct Subsidized
Loan and Direct Unsubsidized Loan rates for undergraduates are currently 3.76 percent, down from
4.29 percent last year. Direct Unsubsidized Loan rates for graduate students are currently 5.31 percent,
and were 5.84 percent last year. Direct PLUS Loan rates for graduate students and parents are
currently 6.31 percent and were 6.84 percent last year. [Access Group, 2016].
Privately issued loans may be issued by private institutions such as banks, schools, credit unions, and
state agencies. Generally, privately issued loans are more

Analysis Of Richard Branson And Max Levchin
People rely on a leader that will guide them through their hard times and conflicts. According to
BusinessDictionary.com, a leader steps up in times of crisis, and is able to think and act creatively in
difficult situations. Some of the best world business leaders, such as Richard Branson and Max
Levchin, share their secrets on how they made their companies manageable. By using these leadership
secrets, they will be compared with some of the previous CEOs of Tyco International and their
management styles. Demonstrating precise leadership is known to motivate employees and increase
the number of customers. However, it seems that Tyco International attracts more unethical CEOs
rather than influential leaders. Richard Branson demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities, which
has reflected on his success in developing an investment business known as the Virgin Group. This
company is an investment group that is greatly known throughout the globe. According to Branson, a
good leader never rushes in and jumps to rash conclusions before knowing all the facts they delay
judgment and first try to see the whole picture clearly (businessinsider). An example of this quote is
when Kozlowski invested in Wormald International, which displeased Fort because he wanted to
concentrate on their shareholders and less about increasing the company s strengths in the business
industry (Tyco International). This means that Fort examines the possible outcomes that could happen

Portrayal of Asian Americans
Abstract
My research focused on the coverage of Asian Americans in contemporary mass media. The following
types of media were researched:
· Music
· Television
· Films
· Magazines
I gave several examples where Asian Americans were used to play very simple characters. These roles
were defined by stereotypes that exist in America. I also researched instances on counter actions taken
by Asian Americans to protest against these negative images. My research also has examples of Asians
that have succeeded in breaking through the racial barriers in the media.
The results show that even though racial stereotyping still exists in various forms of mass media, there
are signs that show noticeable improvement on allowing a more balanced ... Show more content on

Hollywood typically restricts its portrayals of Asians to a limited range of clichéd stock characters
(Restrictive Portrayals [RP], 2004). Examples of the common roles that Asian Americans play in
movies are martial artists, Indian cab drivers, television anchorwomen and prostitutes (RP, 2004).
Even if most Americans do not buy into these images because they interact with many Asian
Americans who do not fit the stereotype, the areas of concern are those parts in the United States
where there isn t a sufficient Asian population (Wu, 2002). Since many Asian people do not surround
these Americans on an everyday environment, it is a safe assumption that they will draw their
judgment of Asian Americans from how they are portrayed on film and television.
In many American films, Asian men are portrayed as passive, old, and speak broken English. The
Karate Kid was a popular movie that depicted the Asian actor as such a man. In The Karate Kid, Pat
Morita plays Mr. Miyagi, an old Japanese American World War II veteran who calmly trains an
enthusiastic white teenage male the Japanese martial arts of karate. Despite the fact that Mr. Miyagi
was an American World War II veteran, he was still portrayed speaking English with a foreign accent.
The myth that all Asian men know some form of martial arts was also stressed in this movie when Mr.
Miyagi surprises Daniel (the white male leading actor) with his karate moves after appearing

Blackfoot Tribe Research Paper
The Blackfoot or Blackfeet tribe is a Native American tribe that is located in the Great Plains. The
differentiation between Blackfeet or Blackfoot is depending on your culture and where you re at in the
world. Most normally, Americans refer to them as the Blackfeet; while Canadians refer to the tribe as
Blackfoot. The Native American tribe has believe the name Blackfeet to be offensive, therefore the
proper pronunciation is Blackfoot. The Blackfoot tribe is made up of three bands or sub tribes; the
Siskins, Kainah, and the Piegans. The three subtribes intermarried. The tribe, together, shared cultural
events and fought the same enemies, but were independent clans and did not share the same chief.
There are different theories as to why the united subtribes pick the name Blackfoot. It was known that
the tribe wore black moccasins to distinguish their tribe from others. Many believed they darkened the
moccasins with ash. Others believe Blackfoot is referring to war tribes in the Great Plains. ... Show

like pottery and basketry, nor agriculture. The tribe relies heavily on the buffalo, and found most use
in following the buffalo, using them for food, shelter, and all other needs. They use the buffalo hide to

Business Marketing Of Foreign Buyers
Part II. Active marketing to foreign buyers
Chapter 22. Decisions to make based on demand for your real estate and marketing budget
To market to foreign buyers or not? This is the same powerful question as the famous To be or not to
be? As a real estate seller of just one private property or a developer with many properties or a realtor
you have to answer this question to yourself, having been equipped with all the preliminary
information you can gather before you start doing anything. Marketing costs money and takes time,
so, without thoughtful consideration and a solid marketing plan with a budget you do not have to start
spending money and time. There are obvious situations where and when it is the only possibility to
sell your property: your country or area is in economic and financial problems and thus local buyers
do not buy. You have to answer Yes . There are less obvious situations when the local real estate
market is in balance more or less right now, but you hear a lot around how other sellers, developers
and realtors benefit from selling real estate to foreigners. Your choice then. Even in a hot seller s
market when it is no problem to receive a quick offer from a local buyer, sometimes it makes sense to
market to foreigners anyway as you can get a higher price from the foreign buyers under the
circumstances. If you answer Yes to marketing to the foreign buyers, the next question is To market to
the foreign buyers in what

The Pros And Cons Of Forced Marriage
Forced marriage is when one of the two parties involved, this usually being the female, does not
consent to the marriage but are forced into it by their family or community. In Australia, forced
marriage is illegal but this does not seem to stop people from being taken overseas to be married, so
should this practice still continue to be illegal in Australia if it isn t being prevented?
In many cultures and religions, marriage is considered a family matter. Parents believe that it is their
duty to choose who their child will marry, and by not doing so they would be going against tradition
and neglecting this fundamental part of the marriage process (Justice.gc.ca. 2016). By going through
with a forced marriage, the daughter or son who is a part of the marriage is seen to be bringing honor
to his/her family. This could make the daughter/son feel like she/he is helping their family by going
through with the marriage (Rubinstein, 2013).
In forced marriages, a lot of women tend to not have a choice and are often abused by their husbands
after the ceremony is over. Joelle Mazoud is a first generation Australian Lebanese woman who was
forced into marriage at the age of 16. A week after arriving in Lebanon, she met her husband once and
was then married. Joelle was left in Lebanon with her new husband. She suffered 11 miscarriages over
8 years and she was constantly being abused (Angel, 2013). Women should not have to suffer under
such cruel circumstances just to bring honour to her family.
If the young woman or man refuses to go through with the marriage, they are instantly exiled from
their family and they are looked down upon by their community as a disappointment. Amina was set
to be married at the age of 18 to a man she had never met. Amina refused the forced marriage because
she still wanted to study and have a life of her own. As a result, Amina lost all of her relationships
with her family and community and was forced to live on her own and become independent (Vidal,
2016).
In Australia it is illegal to cause a forced marriage or be a third party to a forced marriage. The
Commonwealth Criminal Code Act 1995 contains the offenses of forced marriage which includes
agreeing to a forced marriage of a person who

In the 1994 film The Shawshank Redemption. Morgan plays several pertinent roles that stimulate and

Morgan s role as Red, develops a friendship with Andy as well. Lastly, Red, transpires into Andy s

relevance is quite simple. We all need someone who can acquire things we need, here are few

Secondly, a friendly face of a classroom peer to run ramped with trying to find a printer to use when

  • 2. The Endangered Species Act (ESA) Extinction is nothing new to animal and plant species around the earth. Over the course of time on the earth there have been five mass extinctions, with many predicting that a sixth has already begun due to human fault. The Endangered Species Act (ESA) was designed to save both animal and plant life from these great feat. The ESA has seen only a 2% recovery rate since it enactment (Why is U.S. Recovery Rate (2%) for Endangered Species So Low?). Many critics and politicians have been calling for a reformation of the act for years. • 3. Grand Duchess Anastasia Research Paper The Grand Duchess Anastasia The mystery of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna has perplexed people for many years. A majority of people have questioned what really happened on the night of the Nikolaevna s murder, and if there were any survivors of her family at all. Many wondered if there was any way possible for anyone to escape their awful fate that night. The mystery of Anastasia Nikolaevna is still puzzling to this day. The Romanov s were of royalty in Russia. Her father, Nicholas II, was the last tsar of Russia, making the family known throughout Russia and other countries. Anastasia was the youngest of three sisters with one younger brother, who had health conditions. The family had holy man, Grigori Rasputin, to look after and pray for their young son, who had regular medical fits; these included excessive bleeding, often known as hemophilia. The Nikolaevna s lived a fairly normal life ruling Russia, until the break out of World War I. During World War I Nicholas II was determined to lead his army. When Emperor Nicholas II went to the front to take personal command in the autumn of 1915, Rasputin became the decisive influence in the government, advising Alexandra on the conduct of internal affairs (Gregory ... • 4. The Importance Of Desegregation In Public Schools Have you ever thought about how much history has changed since the dark days? The civil rights act of 1964 finally ended segregation in public places. The civil rights was first proposed by president John F. Kennedy, despite all the oppression from southern council members. Swann v. Charlotte Mecklenburg board of education. Presented to the Supreme Court in 1971 this case was to determine wether the respondents idea of the desegregation plan was an effective and reasonable attempt. The constitutional mandate to desegregate public schools did not require all schools in a district to reflect the judgement of the district s racial composition, but the existence of all black or all white schools must not be shown to be the result of segregation ... Approximately two thirds of the Negro children attended schools which were entirely Negro or more than 99% Negro. Guarantee to an order of a federal district court, the school board adopted a desegregation plan for elementary schools... Brown v. Board of education was a milestone for the Supreme Court. This case decided that racial segregation in schools was unconstitutional. This case signaled the end of legalized Futch 2 segregation in the schools of the United States. This case overruled the separate but equal principle set fourth from the Plessy v. Ferguson case. May 17th, 1954 the Supreme Court immediately decided that the case of Brown v. Board of education was a violation of the 14th amendment, making it unconstitutional. Arguments were to be heard during the next term to determine just how the ruling would be imposed. Just over one year later, on May 31, 1955, Warren read the Court s unanimous decision, now referred to as Brown II, instructing the states to begin desegregation plans with all deliberate speed. • 5. Major Differences In The Movie 300 THIS IS SPARTA a famous quote from the movie 300 (2006) about the ferocious battles of the Greco Persian wars across the western Mediterranean. Persia was the dominant empire of this time because of conquering and expanding borders. They had the largest army of the time with around 700,000 800,000 soldiers. Sparta on the other hand was a smaller still powerful city state with highly trained Military personnel. I think there are many minor differences that alter and change the way you see the battle. Some of those minor changes in the movie not in the real battle are the Persians used rhinos and elephants to ride into battle, Xerxes does not go into battle as seen in the movie and the Spartans did not fight with any armor unlike the real battle. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the mighty Persian empire they never had any animals used for combat. During the hiding in the shade scene, it showed the Persian archers shooting of what looks to be one million plus arrows which is a huge overstatement because for one there was never that many arrows to block out the sun, and second the wooden arrows would not stick in the metal shields the Spartans held. Another minor difference within the battle was in the movie it showed Xerxes in the front lines of the battle. In the movie Xerxes Talked to Leonidas and even reasoned for him to be warlord of Sparta and obviously Leonidas refused. In reality Xerxes was far behind enemy lines where he couldn t get a spear in the cheek. Xerxes was also never that tall or never wore those clothes he was much shorter, fatter and wore fine silk clothes. Last minor difference was in the movie the Spartan soldiers were almost naked when going into battle. Actual spartan soldiers were covered head to toe in metal armor and never took their helmets off during combat. Also the Immortals looked like scream with a chrome face the real ones looked like normal soldiers just with heavier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because it allows the HIM professional to be consciously aware of the duty and responsibility that he/she has in regards to patient confidentiality, privacy and security. It also allows them to know what the repercussions might be in case they were to break the law. #2 Does a single document or source of law exist where an individual can find all of the rules governing health information? Why or why not? No. Since the laws and regulations are divided into federal, state and local levels, they are interpreted differently by each of the court systems, all three different levels. This makes it impossible for all law relating health information to ascend from a single source. #5 Explain the concepts of stare decisis and res judicata. Stare decisis to let the decision stand operates in a pyramid type fashion and is the doctrine that judicial decisions stand as precedent for cases arising in the future. It is a fundamental policy of our law that, except in unusual circumstances, a court s determination on a point of law will be followed by courts of the same or lower rank in later cases presenting the same legal issue, even though different parties are involved and any years have elapsed. Res Judicata a thing or matter settled by judgement ; in other words, the thing that has been decided. Whenever a court with jurisdiction over the lawsuit renders a final ... They include symbols, figures, and expression to reveal their emotions through the form of art. Philip Evergood s painting Dance Marathon illustrates the desperate times surrounding the Great Depression. In the scene, dancers compete for a cash prize as they see who can dance the longest. He portrays the cruelty of the time through this vulgar setting. The painting easily captures the viewer s attention mostly from the use of color, figure, spatial effects, and other techniques created by the artist. Red appears to dominate the painting and serves as an eye catching color. The use of intensely saturated colors draws the attention to the front couple. Additionally, the red color plays with the mind of the onlooker without them thinking about it. It suggests deep passion, anger, and struggle. The artist intends to relay his feelings about the event to the viewer. His outlook consists of disgust towards the great depression that leaves many taken advantage of due to desperation. The couple positioned in the front appears very large to make the painting 3 D. The relative size of the dancers drastically shifts to create a window into the painting. The viewer can imagine being a part of the event and watching the poverty stricken dancers. The angle that the painting is at appears to be almost a bird s eye view. This adds to the effect of feeling as part of the audience. Spatial features are also added with overlap making figures look even more distant. Almost everything can be seen all the way to the back of the painting as the lighting in Dance Marathon spreads equally throughout the painting. Many lamps hang from the ceiling to give it a sense of many sources of light and to distribute the light evenly. Dance Marathon as the title brings clear understanding to the artwork. How Wilfred Owen Presents the Horror of War in Dulce et Decorum est In the First World War people wanted the young men to go to war, but no one really knew about conditions of the fighting in the war. Wilfred Owen was one of the people who wanted to tell the public what war was really was like. He tried to do that through his poetry. One of his poems Dulce et decorum est shows the horror of war very well. We know that Wilfred Owen really does know what he s talking about as he served through most of the war and died shortly before the armistice. I am going to compare Dulce et Decorum est with other poems on the horror of war. Dulce et Decorum est is short for the Latin saying Dulce est ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also alerts our senses by saying As under a green sea I saw him drowning, this alerts our senses because we can imagine ourselves seeing someone drown. Wilfred Owen puts dramatic similes into his poetry. Like a devils face sick of sin is quite dramatic and gives it an evil sound. I cannot imagine a devil being sick of sin, but I think that the face would e distorted and twisted. He also uses harsh constantan sounds. This is reflecting the sounds of the firing of rifles and shells; they would be short sharp sounds. All these things give us a picture in our head of life in the trenches. This helps a lot to the horror of war as an image is more powerful then words. , and giving us the ability to picture the scene in the poem is giving us a good impression of war and its horrors. The point of the poem was to deliver the horrors of war to the public so that they would stop seeing the war as such a patriotic adventure. I think Wilfred Owen manages to get his point well in the poem. The General is a bright poem with a bouncy rhythm. This may sound like it doesn t present the horror of war very well but it adds the irony to poem as the message contrasts with the light hearted bouncy rhythm. In Australia, forced marriage is illegal but this does not seem to stop people from being taken overseas to be married, so should this practice still continue to be illegal in Australia if it isn t being prevented? In many cultures and religions, marriage is considered a family matter. Parents believe that it is their duty to choose who their child will marry, and by not doing so they would be going against tradition and neglecting this fundamental part of the marriage process (Justice.gc.ca. 2016). By going through with a forced marriage, the daughter or son who is a part of the marriage is seen to be bringing honor to his/her family.
