In ancient numerology interpretations the 5 stands in the center of all primary numbers. This is an
exciting pattern for freedom, movement, change, diversity and variety. One 5 is pleasant because
it brings in the qualities of the five pointed star or pentagram. This is a visual of man/woman with
arms stretched out into all corners of the biosphere and the heavens. Man/woman is represented as
the microcosm of the macrocosm within the 5 pattern. Essentially, this pattern brings in the free
flowing ability to traverse all old ideologies set up within humanity and make certain there is
evolution as man/woman living as an interconnected organism in the flow of life. Consequently,
one 5 can represent the rebel as it does so with Jungarian archetypes. What if a person had more
than one five within their own being? What if the person had multiple 5 s that turn into a spiral of
energy?
Firstly, we have to see the 5 Pentad is a Sacred Geometrical pattern that exists to create order round
this energy. The 5

Heroes In Greek Myth
Heroes play a significant part in Greek myths as well as Roman. The Greeks have the greatest
amount of hero myths, it is thought to be because not all myths have such great impression on
human capability (Allan, 7). In the Hellenistic trait where adding to the accomplishments and
outstanding aspects of mortals are viewed as advantages given by the given by the distant gods by
other cultures (Allan, 7). The Greeks view things as realists. This means that they look at things,
comprehend, and believe them as they really appear. They understand that due to the heros good
deeds they were no longer protected and now exposed to risks of divine disfavor, occasional defeat,
and the inescapable physical decline of old age (Allan, 7). The Romans took

Rubik s Cube Essay
Background Rubik s cube is a toy puzzle designed by Ernö Rubik during the mid 1970s. It is a
cube shaped toy consisting of smaller cube pieces, called cubies with 6 faces possessing
contrasting colors. This rather primitive looking phenomenon was exceptionally popular during
the 1980s, and peaking 1980 and 1983 with around 200 million cubes sold worldwide. Even
today sales continue to exceed 500,000 sales worldwide each year, subsequently earning the title
the best selling toy of all time .( How Rubik s Cube ) Seen as an object of art, the Rubik s Cube
brilliance is perceived to reside in its ability to embody and symbolize the evident contrasts in the
human conditions: simplicity and complexity, order and mayhem, bewilderment and
comprehension, as Ernö remarks.(Davis) Comparably, these traits can be observed when
examining the most integral parts of the cube: its history, design and mechanics, and mathematical
applications. History Puzzle makers have been creating complications and presenting adversities

Around 1983, however, the popularity of the cube began to die down and sales slowed
drastically. That was because the cube stayed in small scale production, but that changed when
Seven Towns took over the marketing, and licensed the Rubik Cube to the Oddzon Company
for the United States in 1995. Since then, sales have steadily increased to over 500,000 units a
year. ( How Rubik s Cube ) Moreover, in 1980, the cube won the prestigious German Game of the
Year award and similar decoration in France, Britain, and the United States. Also, books covering
the cube were simultaneously on the New York Times best seller list. Finally, today, with more
than 350 million cubes sold and at least one billion imitations in circulation, it is the best selling
toy of all time and a true cultural icon that will forever be recognized.

A Study On Dream Recall
Results
The descriptive statistics for the study were for dream recall (Minimum = 1, Maximum = 7,
Mean= 4.89, (1.53)), which indicates an above average rate of dream recall however the
standard deviation is substantial. For extraversion the statistics were (Min =1.00, Max= 7.00,
Mean=3.96, (1.49)). The Stability results were (Min= 1.00, Max= 7.00, Mean= 3.84 (1.27)).
Openness was recorded as (Min= 2.75, Max= 7.00, Mean= 5.43(1.06)) this shows that people have
a high level of openness, which is reinforced by the small standard deviation. Conscientiousness
data was (Min= 1.25, Max= 7.00, Mean =4.54(1.22)).
The correlation between variables was calculated into a paired sample t test. Dream recall and
Extraversion was (t (193) = .19, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It showed that personality traits and dream recall was significant with the model explaining 14% of
the variance in peoples personality traits when examining dream recall.
The Beta in this sample is the amount of change in dream recall related with a one unit change in
the in the predictor variable which are the different personality traits. Beta (ОІ) is standardized so
that the beta can be measured on the same scale. One standard deviation unit change in openness
leads to a .28 standard unit increase in dream recall, controlling for other predictor factors.
The T test looked at the null hypothesis that personality traits are not statistically significant when
measuring peoples ability to recall their dreams. It was founded that from the sample Extraversion,
Stability and Conscientiousness were not significant as all predictors were above the significance
level of .05. Extraversion had had a moderate positive, non significant correlation. Stability had a
negative moderate non significant correlation and Conscientiousness had a very peak positive non
significant correlation. The strongest predictor for the outcome variables was openness. The result
is not surprising as hypothesized from previous literature if a person is open to the experience of
dreaming they are more likely to remember their dreams.
Both measures of Dream recall and Personality traits used a Likert Scale. The Dream recall

Criteria Of Frankenstein
Is Frankenstein should be the greatest novel of all time?
Reading a novel can change the way of thinking forever. As everyone knows that most of the
composition in the whole world always have their value on their own. But only some of them can
be the greatest novel of all time for readers. And an effective qualification of the great novel should
open our eyes and uplift our mind. Most people consider that Frankenstein is one of them. But there
are still controversies about masterpiece novel like Frankenstein that it should be the greatest novel

Generally, all of the novels in the world always have their theme to presents the main point of
the story that the writer want to tell readers. And the obvious main theme of Frankenstein is a
theme of friendships. Shelley shows us through the theme of friendships that the worst
punishment of human is a solitariness. Most of the characters in this novel have to face with a
suffering in their life from being alone, for instance, Beaufort, Walton, Victor, and Monster. It
leads to a wrong social value that human can t live their life without friends and be ashamed to

can we move forward to the next step in our life? It s clearly that the greatest novel of all time

Crossover between the Occult and Spiritualism
Crossover between the occult and spiritualism.
The differences between spiritualism, occultism and the supernatural are very slight and subtle
but are necessary to be able to distinguish between people s beliefs. To be able to understand what
supernatural is, we first need to establish what natural is. Natural refers to the physical world,
where things will happen and plausible and realistic explanations for these things may be given.
The occultist world does not refer to magic or actions that happen within the realm of plausibility
or affairs that happen as a result of natures laws. Magic tricks created by illusionists, such as
Derren Brown or David Blaine, do not count as supernatural magic as the performers themselves say
it is just about practicing an art form and fooling an audience. The supernatural refers to anything
beyond natural, or the realm of belief. A small feature of this that seems to complicate the situation
is that nobody has found a universal definition of what natural is. The word supernatural is quite
often used in the same context as paranormal. The difference between spiritualism and occultism is
that with spiritualism it is a belief that when people die they become spirits and they can
communicate with the living, generally through a medium of some sort. Occultism is to; simply
put The New Age Movement has definitely popularised these new systems of belief; the occult is

Music In American Schools
For most American children, music class was considered one of the most exciting times of the
school day. Music class was treated as a break from the normal curriculum of reading, math,
science, and social studies. Music has been included in most American schools for several decades.
However, due to budget cuts, our schooldistrict is eliminating the musicprogram for the next school
year. I feel that cutting extracurricular activities, such as sports and music, would be detrimental to
our students.
Students who are exposed to music develop many skills that can be used in their daily lives.
Some of these skills include self discipline, teamwork, and building self esteem. Music can also be
a great outlet for creativity and self expression. Among these acquired skills, one of the most
important is the development of self discipline. This skill can be seen in the student as they develop

Whether it is choir or band, the student learns the importance of being a reliable member of a
group. They learn the importance of being a team player because the other members of the
ensemble rely on them to be at every rehearsal and performance. Music has also been shown to
increase a student s skills at problem solving and analysis. Many studies have shown that learning
to read music or play a musical instrument can lead to the development of a person s higher thinking
skills. Reading music uses the mathematical portion of the brain. In fact, many musicians also excel
at math.
For the student that does not excel at academics, music can be the one bright spot in their day.
While a student could be struggling with their academic studies, he or she may excel at music.
This could be the student s chance to shine on a solo with the choir or orchestra for his or her
school. This solo can be the only way that the student receives praise and recognition from others in

Sustainability and Its Impact on the Four Managerial...
Sustainability and Its Impact on the Four Managerial Functions
Nowadays people all over Australia use their own environmentally friendly shopping bags when
they go to the Supermarket. Why have so many people changed their every day habit and stopped
using the convenient plastic bags? The transition from plastic bags to recycled ones is only one
aspect of a global attitude change towards environmental topics. During the last few decades,
businesses have been focusing on lowering their production costs, with no considerations on the
consequences for the upcoming years. Today, organizations all over the globe are starting to change
the way they operate in order to prevent an environmental crisis.
Sustainability is the new approach that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In prior years, while managers used to set goals for their organization, their only consideration was
how to maximize revenues, without paying attention to the created waste during the manufacturing
process and the operation of the organization.
Nowadays, managers need to ensure that the manufacturing process is sustainable.
The Lean Manufacturing (Womack, Jones Roos, 1990) term is a managerial philosophy which tries
to eliminate waste as much as possible during the manufacturing process. For example maximize
use and reuse of raw materials, decrease the amount of excess supply and defective products,
effective shipping handling and consecutive manufacturing process. The second factor managers
must relate to is reduction in the amount of waste in the organization s building itself. For instance
total consumption of water and energy should be minimized as well. Then, the organization s board
has to structure its vision, and set specific goals relating to environment issues, for the upcoming
years.
For illustration, for more than half a century The Coca Cola Company had put its emphasis on
protecting the environment. In 1956, The Coca Cola Company set a goal of protecting our world
and environment. Since then the company conducts researches about environmental issues
consistently, and is considered as a revolution maker in regards to environment and Sustainability
topics. In addition, in 1991 the first beverage bottle was made from

Television Violence Essay
Television violence and its effects on viewers has been a controversial issue for many years. Some
viewers believe that there is an increasingly large amount of violence on television and this
widespread public concern has quot;led to calls for stricter controls on the depiction of violence in
programmes quot; (Gunter and McAleer 1990:92). Exactly how much violence is there on
television though?
Many cultivation theorists have studied this, acquiring data in the form of content analysis. They
agree on a definition of a violent act, for example Gerbner in his study used the definition, quot;an
overt expression of physical force against self or other, compelling action against ones will on pain
of being hurt or killed, or actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clearly obvious from the research already done concerning television and its effects, that
violence is quite prevalent on British television. Of more concern however is the effect that those
can have on its viewers. Does the violence on television really increase the violent attitudes and
behaviour in individuals? Violence on television can do one of three things. The first is make us
more violent (Huesmann 1982), the second is make us less violent (Feshbach 1972) and the third
is to have no effect at all (Freedman 1984, Kaplan and Singer 1976). Most evidence has supported
the first argument namely that television violence does increase our own violent behaviour. There
are four main effects that cause this violent behaviour when viewing it on television.
The first of these affects is arousal. It is believed that a violent programme increases levels of
arousal and thus causes us to become more violent as we are not only excited by the programme
but also agitated and nervous. This effect is not limited to violent programmes however, as a
comedy programme may induce arousal in the form of amusement in the same way as a violent
programme induces arousal in the form of anger. It is the type of arousal that occurs in the first
place that determines the effect the programme has. Condry (1989:11) found that suspense
programmes, comedy programmes and sport events

Juan Dichotomy
In the final scene of the film, Juan faces his inexorable death at the horns of a bull. The ending
represents a return home, both in terms of character and color scheme. Immediately prior to his
final fight, Juan announced his plans to retire: a certain kiss of death. Though his retirement is an
active choice, it is also a surrender to the wishes of his loved ones. This dichotomy of control and
surrender is the logical and inevitable endpoint of Juan s character arc. The control of color is
manifested in his choice to wear a white suit, with no doubt about his desire to draw attention.
However, by confidently turning his back on the bull, he renounces his control over the fight, and is
promptly gored and flung a great distance. Where the arena

Quality Improvement Initiative Falls Management Program
Quality Improvement Initiative Falls Management Program in Nursing Homes
Falls are very common among nursing home residents. Residents in nursing homes are more likely
to fall due to their age, chronic health conditions, medication, or change in the environment after
admission to the facility. The people who provide care every day in nursing homes know firsthand
how critical falling can be to the health of the residents they care for. Fall prevention is critical in
order to decrease falls in nursing homes. There are programs that are designed to help nursing home
staff members identify the reason for resident fall. These programs give a preventive measure that
assures accuracy and sensitivity of patients risk from falling. The Falls Management Program
(FMP) is one of these programs. The Falls Management Program (FMP) is a multifaceted quality
improvement initiative that is designed to assist nursing homes, it includes assessment,
individualized care planning, resident monitoring, and the elimination of environmental safety
hazards (Taylor, J., Parmelee, P., Brown, H., Ouslander, J., 2005). FMP also improves care
processes and outcomes through educational, staff training and quality improvement tools and
ongoing consultation by qualified falls nurse. There are several reasons why FMP is significant.
Research shows that about half of the nursing home residents in the U.S. fall each year and it is
estimated that 1 in 3 of those who fall will fall in the future. Falling

The Importance Of Distance Education Over Traditional...
Approximately 7 billion people live in the world and the number is getting higher every day.
How many people have internet access? Roughly 3 billion people have access to the internet.
No wonder online education is on the rise. But why? What is so wrong with a traditional
education. Why are more colleges offering online courses? Why are more kids being
homeschooled? Even though you won t meet a lot of new people, experience a lot of different
cultures, or even become that social butterfly, for people who do not function well in a traditional
classroom, I think you should choose distance education over traditional education. For stay at
home parents or even single parents, it might be hard to get an education on your schedule. For
military families, you may move all over, going from school to school, never really continuing
what your learning from school to school. Distance education can keep you connected to your
school anywhere you are. First, for people who do not function very well in a traditional
classroom, I think you should choose distance education over traditional education. Distance
education, or homeschooling, allows for more individualized instruction, based on the students
needs. It isn t as structured as a traditional education. According to Redford, Battle, and Bielick
(20707), the most important reason parents are homeschooling was the environment of other
schools. Other reasons include providing religious instruction, provide a nontraditional approach
to the students education, and to provide moral instruction (p. 12). In public or private school,
you have no control over what your child is learning and how they are learning it. With distance
education, or homeschooling, you can. Are you afraid they will miss out on the opptunities that
traditional schools provide. A friend of mine home schools her children after a few years of being
in a public school system. They belong to a local co op where all the other distance education
students and families get together and play sports, interact, even have a prom for high school
students. Your student can now participate in distance education and get the same opportunity as a
traditional education. Additionally, for stay at home parents or single

Causes And Symptoms Of Meningitis
Introduction/Background/History: Meningitis is caused by an inflammation surrounding your
spinal cord and brain. The inflammation is usually caused by fluid surrounding your brain and
spinal cord. It mostly occurs in children, teens, and young adults. Meningitis also affects older
adults who have a weaker immune systemand people in general who have illnesses that leads to a
weak immune system. This is a serious illness but most of the time if the symptoms are diagnosed
properly and treated correctly you may make a speedy recovery. There are many different types of
meningitissuch as fungal, bacterial, viral, parasitic, and non infectious. The most common types of
meningitis are viral and bacterial meningitis. Viral meningitis is caused by viral infections in the
layers of tissues that covers the meninges. The symptoms of viral meningitis usually are headaches,
muscle aches, stiff neck, and the general feeling of being sick. Bacterial meningitis is caused by
bacteriain the environment that enters the bloodstream and eventually travels to the brain and
spinal cord. Symptoms of bacterial meningitis includes high fever, headaches, confusion, increased
drowsiness and stiffness in neck. If bacterial meningitis is serious and life threating you may have
seizures and strokes.
Reading/Writing: Majority of the time meningitis is life threating if left untreated. So early

Difference Between Rich And Poor
The Gap Between the Rich and the Poor
Each year, thousands of people all over the world come to the U.S. to chase a better life with
beautiful houses, luxury cars and dream jobs, because they think America is the land of
opportunities. However, inside this country, there are a lot of problems which lead to inequality,
and one of them is a growing gap between the rich and poor people. The problem with rising
inequality is a person like me who earns 1000 times as much as the typical American, Nick
Hanauer, a venture capitalist explains on the film Inequality For All. If a normal person earns $10
an hour, a rich person can earn $10,000 an hour. Following economists and social scientists, the
three primary reasons which lead to this gap are the taxes that the rich and poor pay, lack of
education, and the increase of unemployment.
Firstly, when we talk about the difference between the rich and poor, we must discuss paying
taxes. On the report of Robert Reich, the former secretary labor, in Inequality For All, in 1978,
the middle class and the working class earned over $48,000 per year and the upper class earned
over $393,000. However, in 2010, this income gap rose significantly. Meanwhile, the income of
the top 1% increased dramatically to over one million a year. The working class only earns around
$33,000 a year. In this film, Robert Reich also says that Today the richest 400 Americans have more
wealth than the bottom 150 million of us put together. That means the assets

Essay on Victorian Age
The Year 1837 was very significant. It was not only the year that
Queen Victoria acceded the throne, but also the year that a new literary age was coined. The
Victorian Age, more formally known, was a time of great prosperity in Great Britain s literature.
The Victorian Age produced a variety of changes. Political and social reform produced a variety
of reading among all classes. The lower class became more self conscious, the middle class more
powerful and the rich became more vulnerable. The novels of Charles Dickens, the poems of Alfred,
Lord Tennyson and Robert Browning, the dramatic plays of Oscar Wilde, the scientific discoveries
of the Darwins, and the religious revolt of Newman all helped to enhance learning and literacy in the

As the nineteenth century proceeded, these traditional customs were put into question by Erasmus
Darwin and his grandson, Charles Darwin. Erasmus Darwin found that the world was not created
in seven days in Zoomina, where he discovered that the evolutionary theory was unscientific.
Charles Darwin wrote Origin of the Spec ies, causing full scale controversy in Europe. Darwin
said that species survive and evolved by natural selection, or the survival of the fittest. The public
debate over the evolution marked for Victorians a radical change in intellectual and religious life.
The literature of the first four decades of the Victorian period could not help but reflect the social
and intellectual controversies of the era. Writers including Matthew Arnold and John Ruskin
attacked the problems directly, while Charles Dickens, George Eloit and
Alfred Lord Tennyson dramatized the conflicts and challenges in their works.
The most popular form for this type of dramatization was the novel.
Victorian novels represented almost every aspect of nineteenth century
Victorian life. Though poetry and prose were certainly distinguished, it was the novel that
ultimately proved to be the Victorians special literary achievement. The Victorian novel s most
notable aspect was its diversity. The Victorian period produced a number of novelists whose work

Hamlet Disillusionment In Hamlet
William Shakespeare s dramatic presentation of disillusionment within Hamlet, to a great measure
presents the notion that the quality of a leader is derived from one s possession of integrity. Hamlet
s disillusionment which emerges from the discovery of Claudius regicide and the usurpation of his
father s divine position, produces a plethora of human dilemmas, such as the moral struggle
between renaissance and medieval ideologies, the paralysing effect of uncertainty and the defining
nature of mortality. Thus by exploring the universal complexity of human condition and its ability
withhold integrity, Shakespeare connects to audiences of various historical contexts.

recognising that he would be condemned by god whilst Claudius would be permitted to heaven

Persuasive Essay On Internet Censorship
With the advent of the World Wide Web in 1989, people across the world gained access to an ever
increasing well of information. Access to this information could be at risk, however, with
increasing amounts of censorship arising in nations across the world. Internet censorship is when
groups attempt to prevent users from accessing certain information that they decided is unnecessary
or wrong to view. The censorshipusers are subject to is important to acknowledge as it can affect
access to content and the amount of content created, as well as potentially preventing discussion,
even for non controversial topics. There are several ways you could approach the topic of internet
censorship, all of which have differing degrees of success in their methods of attack and lasting
effects on the internet ecosystem. The best solution is to take more of a laissez faire approach and
scale back the amount of censorship currently present, allowing users to govern themselves, instead
of trying to enforce rules put in place by a governing entity or private company, or trying to reach a
middle ground on what should or should not be censored.
In the earlier years of the internet, many called it the wild west of the modern era. A place where
anything went, and users governed themselves by coming up with rules that applied to their group,
be it in a forum or in an online chat room. For the first seven years the world wide web existed this
was the only form of control users had on content, and many did just fine this way. In 1996,
however, the US Government started ramping up on content restrictions, enacting the
Communications Decency Act, which prohibited indecent discussion online, as well as the Child
Pornography Prevention Act, which extended the reaches of anti child pornography laws that
existed already by stating that any content that depicted what appeared to be a minor in a sexual
situation would be considered illegal. These laws did not last, however, with both of them being
mostly struck down in 1997 and 2002 respectively. In more recent history, the US House of

The Legend Of The ANZAC Legend
Ww1 IS regarded as one of the significant and fundamental event in history. It occurred due to the
assassination of the heir to the throne of the Austro Hungarian Empire on 28 June 1914(Stephen
Tonge). The countries were divided to two main powers called Central power where German and
Austria were included and Allied power where England and Russia and Australiafought for the
mother country England .One 25 April 1915, Australia sent troops to Gallipoli to fight against
Turkish .But accidently they landed at the amiss place which made them suffer from the under fire,
and the ANZAClegend was generated there. Although there was no military victory, the Australians
displayed great courage, mateshipand endurance. The stories of these qualities are the proof of
ANZAC legend s undoubtable accurate portrayal of Australia s fighting men in WW1.
Mateship is one of fundamental quality which represents the ANZAC legend. Mateship was
showed through the experience of trench, warfare, concentration camps, injury, forced labour,
and the bored man and terror of war. The story of the brave solider Simpson was a great example
of the mateship through these experiences. The Return Services League of Australia WA Branch

donkey, risked bombs and bullets week after week to carry the wounded to safety only to finally
lose his own life on the beach of ANZAC Cove, will never be forgotten. And, Win or

Economics in One Lesson Essay
Economics in One Lesson is an introduction to free market economics written by Henry Hazlitt
and published in 1946. Hazlitt begins his monumental book by describing the problems with
economic science, showing that its fallacies are greatly exacerbated compared to other scientific
fields because of special interests in government. The special interest groups consistently
advocate policies that they benefit from at the expense of everyone else. Many people, however,
believe these fallacies because of man s nature to see only the immediate effects of a given policy,
or its effects only on a special group. Those people neglect the long termeffects and the implications
on other groups by an economic policy. Hazlitt goes on to explain that... Show more content on

Considering the role of government in lending and the overlap on taxation, Private lenders are
more stringent in their lending policies and, consequently, have to turn down some high risk
borrowers. The government is willing to lend these borrowers the money they need for capital
to carry out their businesses. These borrowers will then be able to acquire the resources they
need to produce what they need. What is overlooked at this point is the fact that, because these
high risk borrowers were able to get what could have been acquired by low risk borrowers from
private lenders, the resources ended up in the hands of less efficient producers who may not be as
productive as the producers who qualified for private lending. Furthermore, high risk borrowers
get the money from the taxpayers and taxpayers can not fet benefit from this lending and this
means the practice to the benefit of a few at the expense of everyone else. For the short term result,
government lending can encourage entrepreneurship to create more GDP and bring benefit for the
high risk borrowers. But for the long term result, high risk borrowers may not produce and use
money efficiently when get money from the government. The worse is that this only benefit for
special groups.

Mermaids Richard Van Camp Analysis
A tragic story in its own right, is a story that deals with tragic events, including an unhappy ending
that usually involves the death or demise of the main protagonist. Although Mermaids is a truly
sad and unforgiving story, it does not classify as a tragedy. Mermaids by Richard Van Camp has
close to none of the aspects that make a tragic story, truly tragic. The characters development,
ending, and tragic pattern, all support the fact that this story is sad, but not tragic.
First and foremost, the character development in Mermaids, is the polar opposite of what any
tragic story would be. The main character Torchy has no evident or visible hamartia, he is indeed a
weak character when he is first presented, however he does not have that key tragic flaw that every
protagonist in a tragic story has. He also lacks the element of peripeteia, it is true that he does
many foolish things, such as gambling, drugs, and self inflicting harm. However, none of these
acts initially lead to his demise, in fact, his poor experiences help him grow as a character. I feel
my blood drain... I lean hard against a parking meter (Van Camp 1). When first presented to us,
Torchy is shown as a person that is strong on the outside, he always has his guard up and is
constantly aware of his surroundings. However, on the inside he is a vulnerable man, conscious of
his mortality where he harms himself to relieve the pain that he is feeling. I can feel it build. I don

Edward Irving Research Paper
During the 1840s, a movement to restore ancient Christianity in Britain and the West used the name
Catholic Apostolic Church (Catholicate of the West). The name was used by an ecumenical prayer
movement om the early 19th century. The movement included the Gifts in the Holy Spirit but it
was suppressed by the local churches.
Considered a Forerunner of the Charismatic Movement, Edward Irving was born in Scotland. A
college graduate, he became a minister in the Church of Scotland, which was Presbyterian. In 1822
he was called to pastor Caledonia Church with about 50 members. He had a flamboyant style, and
the congregation increased quickly to 1,000 members.

Montresor s Moral Responsibility
In this character analysis of Montresor, the narrator in the Cask of Amontillado by edgar Allen
Poe I provide references as to how he fits a description of a sociopath. A sociopath is defined as:
a person with psychopathic personality whose behavior is antisocial, often criminal and who lacks
a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience. We see throughout the story a grandiose sense
of self, lack of remorse, glibness, manipulative behavior, shallow emotion, unreliability, the creation
of a willing victim, and lack of empathy. All of which are listed as classic actions of a sociopath.
Montresor feels that he has been insulted by Fortunato. Even though he has had a Thousand
injuries... (1) done to him by Fortunato he vowed revenge once insulted. Montressor appears to be a
vindictive man, another classic sign of a sociopath, and plots his revenge with a meticulous nature.
He formulated his plans so that no only does he avoid discipline, he comes up with a punishment
that will sufficiently put and end to possible further insults from Fortunato. I must not only punish
but punish with impunity: (5 6). It would also appear that perhaps Montresor is not a very
confrontational man, and picks his battles, continuing to be injured be Fortunato until he could no

Athletes With Abnormal Av Conduction Characterized By An...
Athletes with abnormal AV conduction characterized by an HV interval 90 ms or a His Purkinje
block should have pacemaker implantation. Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT): SVTs are not
more common in athletes than in the general population of a similar age distribution, with the
possible exception of atrial fibrillation (AF). Treatment of these SVTs with catheter ablation is
likely to achieve a permanent cure and, in general, is preferable to lifelong therapy with
pharmacological agents. Atrial Fibrillation: Athletes with AF should undergo a work up that
includes thyroid function tests, queries for drug use, ECG, and echocardiogram. Athletes with low
risk AF that is well tolerated and self terminating may participate in all competitive sports without
therapy. In athletes with AF, when antithrombotic therapy, other than aspirin, is indicated, it is
reasonable to consider the bleeding risk in the context of the specific sport before clearance.
Catheter ablation for AF could obviate the need for rate control or antiarrhythmic drugs and should
be considered. Syncope: Athletes with exercise induced syncope should be restricted from all
competitive athletics until evaluated by a qualified medical professional. Athletes with syncope
should be evaluated with a history, physical examination, ECG, and selective use of other
diagnostic tests when there is suspicion of structural heart disease or primary electrical
abnormalities that may predispose to recurrent syncope or sudden

With the introductions of the Model T, the assembly line and the method of mass production
created many new jobs. The Model T s low price allowed everyone that was making a good
salary to buy a car. It helped out society by giving people jobs especially at around this time when
there was a lot of immigration in the United States and people needed jobs. This vast production
stimulated many other businesses: The steel, rubber, and glass industries flourished. Construction
companies boomed as highways and garages were built. Oil companies, rapidly losing their
kerosene business to the spread of electricity, more than made up for it with increased gasoline
sales. (Gordon) As a whole it changed the economy at the time but in the long run it changed what
society is today. It created mass production which is now our way of production and it changed all
of working America with the numerous amounts of jobs it created. As more Americans owned cars,
urbanization patterns changed. The United States saw the growth of suburbia, the creation of a
national highway system, and a population entranced with the possibility of going anywhere

west so this results in this part of the garden being warmer, because places facing the sun are
warmer than those in the shadows, in Britain the sun rises in the east and moves through the south,

in site 5 is mainly due to being under a gutter so all the precipitation would come down the gutter
here therefore we don t use this part of the garden much. Site 9 had the lowest precipitation
collected this is mainly because the precipitation doesn t collect in this location as most of it

Mankind is one of the biggest races on the Earth and with that many people, there are bound to be

August 6, 1945 the United States of America dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, resulting
in the end of World War II, as stated in Atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, by history.com.
Though it did end Word War II, it still did a considerable amount of other damage in the world.
One of the biggest things that came out of this bomb was the destruction of the Earth. It destroyed
the 90 percent of the city and if a citizen could have survived that, they would have died due to the
radiation to come. Then on August 9, 1945 United States of America dropped an atomic bomb on

European Influence in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, presents the result of colonization of the Ibo people by
the European missionaries. The Ibo culture is threatened to change by the European influence.
Villagers are divided between resisting a new lifestyle or embracing it for better opportunities in
society. The struggle to keep Ibo traditions alive is reflected in Okonkwo and Obierika s
relationship to one another. Okonkwo represents the resistance of change by keeping traditional
values in high regard while, Obierika signifies the openness to opportunity by questioning the
current Ibo values. The arrival of European missionaries persuades the exchange of traditional
Ibo methods, customs, and community for Christianity, resulting in the community to fall apart.
Before the arrival of European influence, villagers of Umuofia had a single option for a way of
life. It was a place to be feared, dominated by war and violent practices. Ibo culture is centered on
a patriarchal system based on hierarchy; the highest titles held by male egwugwu in the legal
system and the osu at the bottom. The main character, Okonkwo, represents the ambition to
strive for a higher position in society in order to gain status: His life had been ruled by a great
passion to become one of the lords of the clan (131). Another aspect in Ibo culture is the
representation of women. They are undermined in order for men to achieve success; bride prices

The Use Of Pesticides And Growth Hormone
Sara Richards Professor Phil 305 Intro: With the world s population continuing to increase, the
demand for food is higher than ever. A growing population means more demand on food. The
world population will rise to 9.3 billion in 2050 and surpass 10 billion by the end of this century.
(Sanyal) This should say something about our growing population that is still continuing to grow
to this day. This increase in food demand also calls for more efficient ways of growing and
providing food without causing any damage to our environment or our health. Two methods that
can be effective for this demand are the organic and conventional method. Decision: Its unethical
for conventional farmers to use of pesticides and growth hormone to multiply their products faster
and bigger than organic farmers. Meanwhile while these conventional farmers make millions in
their products, millions of people are deprived from a healthy diet by choosing to support organic
farmers. The reason against the Claim: The influence conventional farmers have on consumers.
While many people want to support the organic method because of its known benefits but they
also feel that it is just another way to cheat consumers out of their money. However, studies have
proven that conventional fruits, vegetables, and even drinks are cheaper than organic. With the
world population growing larger and larger we need efficient way to provide food for everyone

U.S. Foreign Policy Essay
Throughout the course of history, the United States has remained consistent with its national

an outbreak in Europe. A war started between the central powers and the allied powers. The
central powers consisted of Germany, Austria Hungry, and the Ottoman Empire. They were also

A Young Man s Folly Short Summary
Sadly, not all marriages have good endings. This could be caused by several reasons, such as
falling out of love, neglect, or lack of communication. The latter is the main cause of the short
story A Young Man s Folly by Susan Michalicka. The story revolves around a modern family,
where a boy tries to deal with the loss of his father leaving him. Michalicka conveys the message
of: Sometimes when you re chasing something, you lose sight of what is really important very well
through the use of conflict, characterization and symbolism.
Conflict was used effectively in the short story to reveal the theme of the story. The boy has an
internal conflict about which parent to stay with, and because his father left, he seemed to have
favored him. He wanted him back so badly that every night, he watches him on the six o clock
news while wearing his old jackets. He was blinded by his father s sudden departure that he forgot
about what is really important. Additionally, another development in the short story s conflict has
been used effectively to reveal the theme. When the boy went to Macdonald s to see his father s
true colors, he thought: I finished my drink quickly, thankful that he had to be back in the studio
for the news. By the time he saw his dad for the first time in a while, he knew he was not the man
he thought he was. At that moment, he also realized that he lost sight of what he had all this time:

had to go throughout their life. The thesis is supposed to directly relate the historical person of

Success Is A True Success
Erykah Badu once quoted I planned success. I just knew it was going to happen. From her
statement, success is all about planning, and working hard to progress towards an ultimate goal.
How Ms. Badu was so confident in attaining success, that is how everyone s determination for
success should be. If someone is willing to accept possible failure, strive, and be their best, by
doing their best, successit theirs. Even though success has as many definitions as there are
people, many people measure their success based primarily on wealth; however, I define success
as being that which is attained as one sets goals and achieves them, and as a fluid thing that
changes as our stations in life change. In today s culture, society, as a whole, brainwashes us
into a false perception of success. People with expensive handbags, cars, or jewelry are
automatically deemed as a success. Also, people with corporate jobs that hold Chief Executive
Operation positions, or a field in general that makes an immense amount of money are
considered the successful ones. While a having a great job may be someone s own personal
success, do not let the wealth speak as to why you are successful. Success is not always
determined by one s wealth. As an example, it is already known that celebrities make a vast amount
of money. When we review their success, we look at their accomplishments, and how hard they
have worked to get to their ultimate goal, not how much money they have ascertained.

Swot Analysis Obamacare
On Monday, with all eyes squarely focused on the Iowa caucuses, the House and Senate were in
session. That s a good thing because this Congress has its work cut out for it, with only 81
legislative days remaining on the House Calendar from February 5th to October 1, 2016 they must
grapple with clearing the Fiscal Year 2017 Budget and Appropriations bills, grapple with various
attempts to undermine the ACA, tax reform issues, and more. Just Tuesday the House continued its
attacks on Obamacare, through a longshot attempt to override the President s veto of a bill that
would have undone the hallmark law and defund Planned Parenthood. The 241 186 vote to override
the veto fell short of the two thirds needed, meaning that the President s health... Show more content

Should the Freedom Caucus hold firm on lower spending levels they are likely to derail their
party s plans to build consensus and demonstrate effective leadership in an election year. Aside
from setting appropriations deadlines, this week the House passed the Housing Opportunity
Through Modernization Act of 2015 (H.R. 3700) a proactive bill to extend affordable housing to
more low income families. The bipartisan measure received nearly unanimous support with 427
votes in favor also included an amendment by Representatives David Price (D NC) and Robert
Aderholt (R AL) to modernize the HOPWA formula by counting people living with HIV rather
than cumulative AIDS cases. While there is work to be done, such as building on and preserving
the increases achieved in the FY 16 budget, and advancing the HOPWA language through the
Senate, there is a lesson to be learned from this week; even in a Congress as divided as the 114th,
there are victories to be had and common ground to be forged. As advocates, we must hold each
other and our legislators accountable. That means making our voices heard, including writing and
calling out members of congress and letting them know how the dollars that they allocate through
the appropriations process affect their constituents on the ground and the that political
gamesmanship in setting funding allocations affect real

10, 000 Hours Research Paper
To become an accomplished athlete do you really need to practice for 10,000 hours? In Gladwell s
Outlier s book, he describes the need of people that become experts in their chosen areas to
devote 10,000 hours of practice time to achieve that goal. As a high school golfer, I devote several
hours a day during the school year to practicing golf. In the summer, I put in more hours. In an
article from protourgolfcollege.com, it states, To practice your golf stroke correctly 100 times is
helpful; to practice it 1000 times is game changing. To practice it 10,000 times is life changing.
The article goes on to say, to become a professional golferyou must practice a minimum of 6 hours
per day.

We were one of the favorites to win state. We practiced every day from August until October.
Later in the season, when we were getting ready for state, we started to practice more and more.
We won regionals and then sectionals, but then when it came to state we finished towards the
bottom of the leaderboard. We didn t practice ten thousand hours, but we did practice a lot leading
to us getting tired at the end of the season and failing. When talking about ten thousand hours of
practice there needs to be and equilibrium of rest and practice.
In the book the Outliers, chapter two, Gladwell using the rock group, the Beatles, as an example of
how the ten thousand hour rule succeeds. Timing was a factor in the Beatles success from all of
their nightclub performances in Germany amounted to over twelve hundred performances before
they got their first television performance in the United States on the Ed Sullivan show. The
Beatles preparation over the years led to their world renowned success.
Currently through the internet and YouTube people, groups, and organizations are trying to achieve
instantaneous success by posting a two to five minute video that goes viral. This social media

The Mother Of Thee Author
At times families may appear joyful and whole sum together, or maybe the children may see their
parents as a perfect couple without any problems. But in a childs mind, it tends to block out the
really negative outlooks in life. They may not see everything so truthful as it is suppose to be.
There could always be inner conflicts between parents, just the parents decide not to show it infront
of their children or friends.
Select three paragraphs from different parts of the essay, and what the details in them add to the
story On page 859, the first paragraph that is about to start. Describes the mother of thee author. As
soon as she was coming down, she was said to be young and beautiful, in shorts, wearing one of
the fathers shirts, smoking a ciggarette. That alone, can give us an image in the heads of readers
on how vividly she is described by her son. As well as as when she just digs her finger into the
frosting of the cake then smiles casually, explaning it was just for their father and his crazy writer
friends . Reading this, gives us that the family is caring and took their time to throw a birthday
party for a friend. On page 858 first paragraph, we are told by how the family was so poor all they
ate was canned meat and blocks of government cheese. Even thou that was the time of them
throwing parties. Every night seemed to fill with talk, laughter and ciggarette smoke. Blankets laid

Thomas Dorsey Research Paper
Good versus Evil, Heaven versus Hell, Sacred versus Secular; these were the internal and external
conflicts faced by the blues artists of the 1920s and 30s. There was no in between, but Thomas
Dorsey didn t see much of a difference, they both reflected the African American experience. Many
of these artists, like Charley Patton and Blind Lemon Jefferson, negotiated this chasm by recording
a few sacred tunes though always under a pseudonym. Thomas A. Dorsey, also attempted this
delicate balance of recording and performing blueswhile writing spirituals and church music.
While his time and discography as Georgia Tom and as a member of the Hokum Boys is well
known to aficionados, it was this time served in the secular world that aided him... Show more

In 1932, Dorsey s wife, Nettie Harper, who was Ma Rainey s wardrobe mistress, and their
newborn son died with a day of each other after the child s birth. His sorrow inspired him to
compose the now Gospel standard Take My Hand, Precious Lord. This composition fused the
religious hymn with the rhythmical and emotive blues music into what became Gospel Music,
which for a longtime were referred to as Dorseys. Gospel is not simply the cross pollination of the
spiritual hymn and the syncopated rhythm of jazz and blues. Because Dorsey was able to read
music, unlike many of his blues compatriots, he came to understand that music was a conduit of
feeling, a choice to be made solely by the performer and that, one had to surrender oneself to the
inspiration, be it a higher power, their experience, or whatever. Dorsey brought these observations
and the tenor of the blues together to this new music; that of defiance in the face of despair. These
were songs of hope, perseverance, and affirmation. Take My Hand was a favorite of the Reverend
Dr. Martin Luther King and was performed at his funeral at the request of President Lyndon
Johnson. Everyone from Aretha Franklin to Beyonce have added it to their

Pornography, Erotica, and Nude Art – There Is a Difference...
Pornography is a subject that has always been argued and stirs up controversy almost anywhere it
may arise. There are people who are against it, and would like to ban all pornography for the
benefit of everyone, while there are those who defend it, claiming it is part of their guaranteed free
speech, to express themselves in a manner of their choosing. With the issue of pornographybeing
debated and spoken of, one major mistake people make is that they look at pornography according
to their own views. Different types of people look at pornography differently, and therefore create
their own definition of pornography in their minds. Usually, pornography tends to be mistaken with
nude art and erotica, so some people consider erotic as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So the students were then allowed to look at the subject s breasts and ponder the importance of
nude art as they made replicas of the woman in a graceful, artistic, position. The students
probably submitted a signed note from their parents to be involved in the sculpture session,
because I do not know of any public school that would allow its students to take part in this type
of class during school hours, on school grounds. The woman s nudity is considered as art
because she is posing for an art class, which was allowed by a public school, although I highly do
not think that it would actually happen. Nude art s purpose is to portray the human body as an art
form, and not an object of sexuality or arousal.
Both pornography and erotica have the main purpose to sexually stimulate people, but
pornography does not show the emotional connection between the individuals involved in the
sexual acts, while erotica does. Erotica is just like nude art, except that erotica possesses no
artistic value, and art does contain an artistic value that is accepted by everyone. There is a form
of art called erotic art that I guess is a mixture of erotica and nude art. But if guidelines were to be
set by the government, art forms that could be on the borderline of erotic art could be easier to
distinguish. Pornography is not classified as nude art at all, and nude art is not pornography.
Pornography just has the sole

First piece of music being evaluated is the main credit. However, the main music piece for the
Avatar movie title is not at the beginning but rather at the end. In other words, the main title
music is the end credit of the film. The only possible reason that came to mind after watching the
movie as to why the main music of the movie is played at the credit along with showing the title
of the film is to have the audience leaving the theater remembering the film. To feel attached to
the film in believing that the planet Pandora is alive and real with its native people, Na vi, and
their aboriginal music. It also gives off the effect of leaving the theater happy and excited. In
addition, it s a possible method of hinting about a sequel for the film by ending the film with
Jake waking up in his Na vi body along with an intense drum based orchestral playing in the
background in an aboriginal rhythm, which also adds in the effect for the switch between
bodies. The year the film was set to take place was in 2154 on the planet of Pandora, but the
music was not futuristic. It felt more in tune with nature like how the Na vi people are to the
land. It starts with the flute, with a soft and relaxing tune slowly building up. Then followed up
with a heavy drum, giving off a feel that is fitting for the large humanoid Na vi people as if they
were to play the drums along with some sort of chant that feels fitting for Na vi people.

During this Olympics she also gained some criticism for her irresponsible and eccentric behavior.
The Australian team manager asked her to swim the butterfly leg of the medley relay in the games

her streak of amazing performances, she went on to win four gold medals at the 1962

Essay about Cesar Chavez
Cesar Chavez Since before the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, race relations between the United

racism. On a national level this sentiment has formed some legislation, and on a lower level it
has formed the way many people conduct their lives. Mexican have been exploited for their

He found that the locals were upset because the braceros were taking their jobs. The bracero
program began in Congress in 1942. It s purpose was to import seasonal contract laborers in
times of labor shortages in the states. Apparently, the farmers would falsely claim labor
shortages in order to import braceros. The wages that farmers paid the braceros was a lot lower
than that they would have to pay the local workers. The farmers were also able to make their
money back from the braceros by charging them excess for room and board. Cesar combated
against the farmers by organizing boycotts, sit downs and protests. All of Cesar s
accomplishments got him the state executive directorship for the CSO. He served this position
for two years. In 1962, Chavez proposed that the CSO support a union movement for farm
workers. The movement was brought to a vote a vote and rejected. During his time at the CSO,
he had met Dolores Huerta, a woman who shared his passion for obtaining farm worker s civil

respondents reported that inadequate emphasis on fraud determent practices and on education
contributed to this problem. The public interest in fraud investigation encouraged the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to host a two hour online fraud conference on
CompuServe on 19 June 1996 featuring David L. Landsittel, Chair of the AICPA s Fraud Task
Force, and Edmund R. Noonan, Chair of the Auditing Standards Board (AICPA, 1996a). The
conference discussed the proposed Statement on Auditing Standards, Consideration of Fraud in a

programmes pay more attention to fraud investigation education, suggesting that current curriculum
content may be deficient in this important area. The range of knowledge required of forensic
accountants in performing litigation services, giving expert testimony and conducting fraud
investigation is extensive and should, perhaps, have a more prominent position in the accounting
curriculum. Many groups in society expect accountants to assume a more active role in providing
reasonable assurance regarding responsible corporate governance, reliable п¬Ѓnancial reporting,

Downfall Of The Aztecs
The Aztec and Mesoamerican indigenous societies were some of the most well developed pre
industrial civilizations with populations that averaged out approximately a twenty million prior to
Spanish conquest (Marr and Kiracoffe 2000). These civilizations were also onlookers to one of
the worst demographic tragedies in history seeing population losses of almost ninety percent, down
to one million occupants a century after conquest (Marr and Kiracoffe 2000). These demographic
tragedies were in the form of epidemics of both New and Old World origin and as a result of and

Both were warlike, mercantile people, avaricious and quick to resort to force. The Aztecs even
managed to defeat the Spaniards on what is now considered La Noche Triste, when three
quarters of the twelve hundred Europeans in Mexico City died; this is considered the greatest
indigenous victory in all the conquest wars to this day (Wright 1992:43). The one factor that the
Aztecs did not have to their advantage was biology, specifically disease, and this would prove to
be their downfall. Aztecs were vulnerable to the diseases the Spaniards brought over from the
Old World as well as being particularly susceptible to a new strain of disease neither the
Spaniards nor the Aztecs had seen before; Cocoliztli. Cocoliztli was Nahuatl for great pestilence
(Acuna Soto, Romero, Maguire 2000). Over the course of three centuries, these diseases continued
to ravage the indigenous population, at the end of which only a small percentage remained. These
diseases severely weakened the indigenous population s ability to resist the ongoing Spanish
influence and dominance and made it increasingly difficult to form the large groups of warriors
that might more effectively have resisted the Spaniards. One has to count the spread of new to the
Americas disease as a major factor in the Spanish success. Perhaps the most striking quality of these
epidemics was their selectivity for the indigenous population. Spanish priests and religious members

Network breaches pose a serious threat to all companies especially to those who are primarily
engaged in managing finances of their customers. This vulnerable industry includes accounting
firms, small and big alike. In fact, the biggest security breach in 2014 reported by Target
Corporation (an American retailing company operating in Minnesota and the second largest
discount retailer next to Walmart) includes 40 million credit and debit card number of customers
which were stolen during the holiday season [1]. This proves that hackers are majorly concerned
with obtaining the financial information of clients in order to acquire money. Thus, accounting
firms are indeed susceptible to network security breaches which is the reason why a well tested

This is an exciting pattern for freedom, movement, change, diversity and variety. One 5 is pleasant because it brings in the qualities of the five pointed star or pentagram. This is a visual of man/woman with arms stretched out into all corners of the biosphere and the heavens. Man/woman is represented as the microcosm of the macrocosm within the 5 pattern. Essentially, this pattern brings in the free flowing ability to traverse all old ideologies set up within humanity and make certain there is evolution as man/woman living as an interconnected organism in the flow of life. Consequently, one 5 can represent the rebel as it does so with Jungarian archetypes. What if a person had more than one five within their own being? What if the person had multiple 5 s that turn into a spiral of energy? Firstly, we have to see the 5 Pentad is a Sacred Geometrical pattern that exists to create order round this energy. The 5 ... In the Hellenistic trait where adding to the accomplishments and outstanding aspects of mortals are viewed as advantages given by the given by the distant gods by other cultures (Allan, 7). • 4. Rubik s Cube Essay Background Rubik s cube is a toy puzzle designed by ErnГ¶ Rubik during the mid 1970s. It is a cube shaped toy consisting of smaller cube pieces, called cubies with 6 faces possessing contrasting colors. This rather primitive looking phenomenon was exceptionally popular during the 1980s, and peaking 1980 and 1983 with around 200 million cubes sold worldwide. Even today sales continue to exceed 500,000 sales worldwide each year, subsequently earning the title the best selling toy of all time .( How Rubik s Cube ) Seen as an object of art, the Rubik s Cube brilliance is perceived to reside in its ability to embody and symbolize the evident contrasts in the human conditions: simplicity and complexity, order and mayhem, bewilderment and comprehension, as ErnГ¶ remarks.(Davis) Comparably, these traits can be observed when examining the most integral parts of the cube: its history, design and mechanics, and mathematical applications. History Puzzle makers have been creating complications and presenting adversities for people to solve and overcome for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Around 1983, however, the popularity of the cube began to die down and sales slowed drastically. That was because the cube stayed in small scale production, but that changed when Seven Towns took over the marketing, and licensed the Rubik Cube to the Oddzon Company for the United States in 1995. Since then, sales have steadily increased to over 500,000 units a year. ( How Rubik s Cube ) Moreover, in 1980, the cube won the prestigious German Game of the Year award and similar decoration in France, Britain, and the United States. Also, books covering the cube were simultaneously on the New York Times best seller list. Finally, today, with more than 350 million cubes sold and at least one billion imitations in circulation, it is the best selling toy of all time and a true cultural icon that will forever be recognized. ... • 5. A Study On Dream Recall Results The descriptive statistics for the study were for dream recall (Minimum = 1, Maximum = 7, Mean= 4.89, (1.53)), which indicates an above average rate of dream recall however the standard deviation is substantial. For extraversion the statistics were (Min =1.00, Max= 7.00, Mean=3.96, (1.49)). The Stability results were (Min= 1.00, Max= 7.00, Mean= 3.84 (1.27)). Openness was recorded as (Min= 2.75, Max= 7.00, Mean= 5.43(1.06)) this shows that people have a high level of openness, which is reinforced by the small standard deviation. Conscientiousness data was (Min= 1.25, Max= 7.00, Mean =4.54(1.22)). The correlation between variables was calculated into a paired sample t test. Dream recall and Extraversion was (t (193) = .19, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It showed that personality traits and dream recall was significant with the model explaining 14% of the variance in peoples personality traits when examining dream recall. The Beta in this sample is the amount of change in dream recall related with a one unit change in the in the predictor variable which are the different personality traits. Beta (ОІ) is standardized so that the beta can be measured on the same scale. One standard deviation unit change in openness leads to a .28 standard unit increase in dream recall, controlling for other predictor factors. The T test looked at the null hypothesis that personality traits are not statistically significant when measuring peoples ability to recall their dreams. It was founded that from the sample Extraversion, Stability and Conscientiousness were not significant as all predictors were above the significance level of .05. Extraversion had had a moderate positive, non significant correlation. Stability had a negative moderate non significant correlation and Conscientiousness had a very peak positive non significant correlation. The strongest predictor for the outcome variables was openness. The result is not surprising as hypothesized from previous literature if a person is open to the experience of dreaming they are more likely to remember their dreams. Both measures of Dream recall and Personality traits used a Likert Scale. The Dream recall ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Crossover between the Occult and Spiritualism Crossover between the occult and spiritualism. The differences between spiritualism, occultism and the supernatural are very slight and subtle but are necessary to be able to distinguish between people s beliefs. To be able to understand what supernatural is, we first need to establish what natural is. Natural refers to the physical world, where things will happen and plausible and realistic explanations for these things may be given. The occultist world does not refer to magic or actions that happen within the realm of plausibility or affairs that happen as a result of natures laws. Magic tricks created by illusionists, such as Derren Brown or David Blaine, do not count as supernatural magic as the performers themselves say it is just about practicing an art form and fooling an audience. The supernatural refers to anything beyond natural, or the realm of belief. A small feature of this that seems to complicate the situation is that nobody has found a universal definition of what natural is. The word supernatural is quite often used in the same context as paranormal. The difference between spiritualism and occultism is that with spiritualism it is a belief that when people die they become spirits and they can communicate with the living, generally through a medium of some sort. Occultism is to; simply put The New Age Movement has definitely popularised these new systems of belief; the occult is not only the belief system to become increasingly accepted, as we are constantly ... • 8. Music In American Schools For most American children, music class was considered one of the most exciting times of the school day. Music class was treated as a break from the normal curriculum of reading, math, science, and social studies. Music has been included in most American schools for several decades. However, due to budget cuts, our schooldistrict is eliminating the musicprogram for the next school year. I feel that cutting extracurricular activities, such as sports and music, would be detrimental to our students. Students who are exposed to music develop many skills that can be used in their daily lives. Some of these skills include self discipline, teamwork, and building self esteem. Music can also be a great outlet for creativity and self expression. Among these acquired skills, one of the most important is the development of self discipline. Many studies have shown that learning to read music or play a musical instrument can lead to the development of a person s higher thinking skills. Reading music uses the mathematical portion of the brain. In fact, many musicians also excel at math. For the student that does not excel at academics, music can be the one bright spot in their day. While a student could be struggling with their academic studies, he or she may excel at music. This could be the student s chance to shine on a solo with the choir or orchestra for his or her school. Sustainability and Its Impact on the Four Managerial Functions Nowadays people all over Australia use their own environmentally friendly shopping bags when they go to the Supermarket. Why have so many people changed their every day habit and stopped using the convenient plastic bags? The transition from plastic bags to recycled ones is only one aspect of a global attitude change towards environmental topics. During the last few decades, businesses have been focusing on lowering their production costs, with no considerations on the consequences for the upcoming years. Today, organizations all over the globe are starting to change the way they operate in order to prevent an environmental crisis. Sustainability is the new approach that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In prior years, while managers used to set goals for their organization, their only consideration was how to maximize revenues, without paying attention to the created waste during the manufacturing process and the operation of the organization. Nowadays, managers need to ensure that the manufacturing process is sustainable. The Lean Manufacturing (Womack, Jones Roos, 1990) term is a managerial philosophy which tries to eliminate waste as much as possible during the manufacturing process. For example maximize use and reuse of raw materials, decrease the amount of excess supply and defective products, effective shipping handling and consecutive manufacturing process. The second factor managers must relate to is reduction in the amount of waste in the organization s building itself. For instance total consumption of water and energy should be minimized as well. Then, the organization s board has to structure its vision, and set specific goals relating to environment issues, for the upcoming years. For illustration, for more than half a century The Coca Cola Company had put its emphasis on protecting the environment. In 1956, The Coca Cola Company set a goal of protecting our world and environment. Some viewers believe that there is an increasingly large amount of violence on television and this widespread public concern has quot;led to calls for stricter controls on the depiction of violence in programmes quot; (Gunter and McAleer 1990:92). Exactly how much violence is there on television though? Many cultivation theorists have studied this, acquiring data in the form of content analysis. Of more concern however is the effect that those can have on its viewers. Does the violence on television really increase the violent attitudes and behaviour in individuals? Violence on television can do one of three things. The first is make us more violent (Huesmann 1982), the second is make us less violent (Feshbach 1972) and the third is to have no effect at all (Freedman 1984, Kaplan and Singer 1976). Most evidence has supported the first argument namely that television violence does increase our own violent behaviour. There are four main effects that cause this violent behaviour when viewing it on television. The first of these affects is arousal. It is believed that a violent programme increases levels of arousal and thus causes us to become more violent as we are not only excited by the programme but also agitated and nervous. This effect is not limited to violent programmes however, as a comedy programme may induce arousal in the form of amusement in the same way as a violent programme induces arousal in the form of anger. It is the type of arousal that occurs in the first place that determines the effect the programme has. Condry (1989:11) found that suspense programmes, comedy programmes and sport events ... Immediately prior to his final fight, Juan announced his plans to retire: a certain kiss of death. Though his retirement is an active choice, it is also a surrender to the wishes of his loved ones. This dichotomy of control and surrender is the logical and inevitable endpoint of Juan s character arc. The control of color is manifested in his choice to wear a white suit, with no doubt about his desire to draw attention. However, by confidently turning his back on the bull, he renounces his control over the fight, and is promptly gored and flung a great distance. Where the arena ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Residents in nursing homes are more likely to fall due to their age, chronic health conditions, medication, or change in the environment after admission to the facility. The people who provide care every day in nursing homes know firsthand how critical falling can be to the health of the residents they care for. Fall prevention is critical in order to decrease falls in nursing homes. There are programs that are designed to help nursing home staff members identify the reason for resident fall. These programs give a preventive measure that assures accuracy and sensitivity of patients risk from falling. The Falls Management Program (FMP) is one of these programs. The Falls Management Program (FMP) is a multifaceted quality improvement initiative that is designed to assist nursing homes, it includes assessment, individualized care planning, resident monitoring, and the elimination of environmental safety hazards (Taylor, J., Parmelee, P., Brown, H., Ouslander, J., 2005). • 13. The Importance Of Distance Education Over Traditional... Approximately 7 billion people live in the world and the number is getting higher every day. How many people have internet access? Roughly 3 billion people have access to the internet. No wonder online education is on the rise. But why? What is so wrong with a traditional education. Why are more colleges offering online courses? Why are more kids being homeschooled? Even though you won t meet a lot of new people, experience a lot of different cultures, or even become that social butterfly, for people who do not function well in a traditional classroom, I think you should choose distance education over traditional education. For stay at home parents or even single parents, it might be hard to get an education on your schedule. For military families, you may move all over, going from school to school, never really continuing what your learning from school to school. Distance education can keep you connected to your school anywhere you are. First, for people who do not function very well in a traditional classroom, I think you should choose distance education over traditional education. Distance education, or homeschooling, allows for more individualized instruction, based on the students needs. It isn t as structured as a traditional education. According to Redford, Battle, and Bielick (20707), the most important reason parents are homeschooling was the environment of other schools. Other reasons include providing religious instruction, provide a nontraditional approach to the students education, and to provide moral instruction (p. 12). In public or private school, you have no control over what your child is learning and how they are learning it. With distance education, or homeschooling, you can. Are you afraid they will miss out on the opptunities that traditional schools provide. A friend of mine home schools her children after a few years of being in a public school system. They belong to a local co op where all the other distance education students and families get together and play sports, interact, even have a prom for high school students. Your student can now participate in distance education and get the same opportunity as a traditional education. Additionally, for stay at home parents or single ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Difference Between Rich And Poor The Gap Between the Rich and the Poor Each year, thousands of people all over the world come to the U.S. to chase a better life with beautiful houses, luxury cars and dream jobs, because they think America is the land of opportunities. However, inside this country, there are a lot of problems which lead to inequality, and one of them is a growing gap between the rich and poor people. The problem with rising inequality is a person like me who earns 1000 times as much as the typical American, Nick Hanauer, a venture capitalist explains on the film Inequality For All. If a normal person earns $10 an hour, a rich person can earn $10,000 an hour. Following economists and social scientists, the three primary reasons which lead to this gap are the taxes that the rich and poor pay, lack of education, and the increase of unemployment. Firstly, when we talk about the difference between the rich and poor, we must discuss paying taxes. On the report of Robert Reich, the former secretary labor, in Inequality For All, in 1978, the middle class and the working class earned over $48,000 per year and the upper class earned over $393,000. However, in 2010, this income gap rose significantly. Meanwhile, the income of the top 1% increased dramatically to over one million a year. The working class only earns around $33,000 a year. In this film, Robert Reich also says that Today the richest 400 Americans have more wealth than the bottom 150 million of us put together. That means the assets ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Victorian Age, more formally known, was a time of great prosperity in Great Britain s literature. The Victorian Age produced a variety of changes. Political and social reform produced a variety of reading among all classes. The lower class became more self conscious, the middle class more powerful and the rich became more vulnerable. Erasmus Darwin found that the world was not created in seven days in Zoomina, where he discovered that the evolutionary theory was unscientific. The public debate over the evolution marked for Victorians a radical change in intellectual and religious life. The literature of the first four decades of the Victorian period could not help but reflect the social and intellectual controversies of the era. Writers including Matthew Arnold and John Ruskin attacked the problems directly, while Charles Dickens, George Eloit and Alfred Lord Tennyson dramatized the conflicts and challenges in their works. The most popular form for this type of dramatization was the novel. Victorian novels represented almost every aspect of nineteenth century Victorian life. Access to this information could be at risk, however, with increasing amounts of censorship arising in nations across the world. Internet censorship is when groups attempt to prevent users from accessing certain information that they decided is unnecessary or wrong to view. The censorshipusers are subject to is important to acknowledge as it can affect access to content and the amount of content created, as well as potentially preventing discussion, even for non controversial topics. There are several ways you could approach the topic of internet censorship, all of which have differing degrees of success in their methods of attack and lasting effects on the internet ecosystem. The best solution is to take more of a laissez faire approach and scale back the amount of censorship currently present, allowing users to govern themselves, instead of trying to enforce rules put in place by a governing entity or private company, or trying to reach a middle ground on what should or should not be censored. In the earlier years of the internet, many called it the wild west of the modern era. A place where anything went, and users governed themselves by coming up with rules that applied to their group, be it in a forum or in an online chat room. For the first seven years the world wide web existed this was the only form of control users had on content, and many did just fine this way. In 1996, however, the US Government started ramping up on content restrictions, enacting the Communications Decency Act, which prohibited indecent discussion online, as well as the Child Pornography Prevention Act, which extended the reaches of anti child pornography laws that existed already by stating that any content that depicted what appeared to be a minor in a sexual situation would be considered illegal. These laws did not last, however, with both of them being mostly struck down in 1997 and 2002 respectively. The special interest groups consistently advocate policies that they benefit from at the expense of everyone else. The characters development, ending, and tragic pattern, all support the fact that this story is sad, but not tragic. First and foremost, the character development in Mermaids, is the polar opposite of what any tragic story would be. The main character Torchy has no evident or visible hamartia, he is indeed a weak character when he is first presented, however he does not have that key tragic flaw that every protagonist in a tragic story has. Athletes with abnormal AV conduction characterized by an HV interval 90 ms or a His Purkinje block should have pacemaker implantation. Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT): SVTs are not more common in athletes than in the general population of a similar age distribution, with the possible exception of atrial fibrillation (AF). Treatment of these SVTs with catheter ablation is likely to achieve a permanent cure and, in general, is preferable to lifelong therapy with pharmacological agents. Atrial Fibrillation: Athletes with AF should undergo a work up that includes thyroid function tests, queries for drug use, ECG, and echocardiogram. Athletes with low risk AF that is well tolerated and self terminating may participate in all competitive sports without therapy. In athletes with AF, when antithrombotic therapy, other than aspirin, is indicated, it is reasonable to consider the bleeding risk in the context of the specific sport before clearance. Catheter ablation for AF could obviate the need for rate control or antiarrhythmic drugs and should be considered. Syncope: Athletes with exercise induced syncope should be restricted from all competitive athletics until evaluated by a qualified medical professional. Athletes with syncope should be evaluated with a history, physical examination, ECG, and selective use of other diagnostic tests when there is suspicion of structural heart disease or primary electrical abnormalities that may predispose to recurrent syncope or sudden ... The latter is the main cause of the short story A Young Man s Folly by Susan Michalicka. The story revolves around a modern family, where a boy tries to deal with the loss of his father leaving him. Michalicka conveys the message of: Sometimes when you re chasing something, you lose sight of what is really important very well through the use of conflict, characterization and symbolism. Conflict was used effectively in the short story to reveal the theme of the story. The boy has an internal conflict about which parent to stay with, and because his father left, he seemed to have favored him. He wanted him back so badly that every night, he watches him on the six o clock news while wearing his old jackets. He was blinded by his father s sudden departure that he forgot about what is really important. Additionally, another development in the short story s conflict has been used effectively to reveal the theme. When the boy went to Macdonald s to see his father s true colors, he thought: I finished my drink quickly, thankful that he had to be back in the studio for the news. By the time he saw his dad for the first time in a while, he knew he was not the man he thought he was. From her statement, success is all about planning, and working hard to progress towards an ultimate goal. How Ms. Badu was so confident in attaining success, that is how everyone s determination for success should be. If someone is willing to accept possible failure, strive, and be their best, by doing their best, successit theirs. Even though success has as many definitions as there are people, many people measure their success based primarily on wealth; however, I define success as being that which is attained as one sets goals and achieves them, and as a fluid thing that changes as our stations in life change. In today s culture, society, as a whole, brainwashes us into a false perception of success. People with expensive handbags, cars, or jewelry are automatically deemed as a success. Also, people with corporate jobs that hold Chief Executive Operation positions, or a field in general that makes an immense amount of money are considered the successful ones. While a having a great job may be someone s own personal success, do not let the wealth speak as to why you are successful. Success is not always determined by one s wealth. As an example, it is already known that celebrities make a vast amount of money. When we review their success, we look at their accomplishments, and how hard they have worked to get to their ultimate goal, not how much money they have ascertained. ... • 50. Essay about Cesar Chavez Cesar Chavez Since before the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, race relations between the United States and Mexico have been less than great. The United States has a history of prejudice and racism. On a national level this sentiment has formed some legislation, and on a lower level it has formed the way many people conduct their lives. Mexican have been exploited for their work for decades. One man fought long and hard for his people and their civil liberties. That man was Cesar Chavez. Cesar Chavez was born in Yuma, Arizona to a middle class family. Cesar s family owned there land and also ran a business. He found that the locals were upset because the braceros were taking their jobs. The bracero program began in Congress in 1942. It s purpose was to import seasonal contract laborers in times of labor shortages in the states. Apparently, the farmers would falsely claim labor shortages in order to import braceros. The wages that farmers paid the braceros was a lot lower than that they would have to pay the local workers. The farmers were also able to make their money back from the braceros by charging them excess for room and board. Cesar combated against the farmers by organizing boycotts, sit downs and protests. All of Cesar s accomplishments got him the state executive directorship for the CSO. He served this position for two years. In 1962, Chavez proposed that the CSO support a union movement for farm workers. The movement was brought to a vote a vote and rejected. During his time at the CSO, he had met Dolores Huerta, a woman who shared his passion for obtaining farm worker s civil rights. His plan was to fight for the rights of the migrant and resident farm workers in California. To achieve this goal, Chavez set out to form a viable union among the thousands of disenfranchised farm workers. Chavez encountered many obstacles after the formation of his union and at the beginning of their strike. Aside from the fact that many of the workers were hesitant to join Chavez and go against ... The public interest in fraud investigation encouraged the American Institute of Certiп¬Ѓed Public Accountants (AICPA) to host a two hour online fraud conference on CompuServe on 19 June 1996 featuring David L. Landsittel, Chair of the AICPA s Fraud Task Force, and Edmund R. Noonan, Chair of the Auditing Standards Board (AICPA, 1996a). The conference discussed the proposed Statement on Auditing Standards, Consideration of Fraud in a Financial Statement Audit . The Treadway Commission (1987) recommended that accounting programmes pay more attention to fraud investigation education, suggesting that current curriculum content may be deп¬Ѓcient in this important area. The range of knowledge required of forensic accountants in performing litigation services, giving expert testimony and conducting fraud investigation is extensive and should, perhaps, have a more prominent position in the accounting curriculum. Many groups in society expect accountants to assume a more active role in providing reasonable assurance regarding responsible corporate governance, reliable п¬Ѓnancial reporting, and detecting and preventing fraudulent п¬Ѓnancial activities. Downfall Of The Aztecs The Aztec and Mesoamerican indigenous societies were some of the most well developed pre industrial civilizations with populations that averaged out approximately a twenty million prior to Spanish conquest (Marr and Kiracoffe 2000). These civilizations were also onlookers to one of the worst demographic tragedies in history seeing population losses of almost ninety percent, down to one million occupants a century after conquest (Marr and Kiracoffe 2000). These demographic tragedies were in the form of epidemics of both New and Old World origin and as a result of and major contributing factors to the success of the Spanish Conquest of the region. Both were warlike, mercantile people, avaricious and quick to resort to force. The Aztecs even managed to defeat the Spaniards on what is now considered La Noche Triste, when three quarters of the twelve hundred Europeans in Mexico City died; this is considered the greatest indigenous victory in all the conquest wars to this day (Wright 1992:43). The one factor that the Aztecs did not have to their advantage was biology, specifically disease, and this would prove to be their downfall. Aztecs were vulnerable to the diseases the Spaniards brought over from the Old World as well as being particularly susceptible to a new strain of disease neither the Spaniards nor the Aztecs had seen before; Cocoliztli. Cocoliztli was Nahuatl for great pestilence (Acuna Soto, Romero, Maguire 2000). Over the course of three centuries, these diseases continued to ravage the indigenous population, at the end of which only a small percentage remained. These diseases severely weakened the indigenous population s ability to resist the ongoing Spanish influence and dominance and made it increasingly difficult to form the large groups of warriors that might more effectively have resisted the Spaniards. One has to count the spread of new to the Americas disease as a major factor in the Spanish success. Perhaps the most striking quality of these epidemics was their selectivity for the indigenous population. Spanish priests and religious members worked in opening new ...
