accomplish this final goal, a Spec 20 was used to test three colors of food colorings.
A Spec 20 is an instrument used to measure the intensity of a lightbeam before and
after it passes through a sample and compares these two intensities (What does a
Spectronic 20 measure). The instrument is able to measure the percent transmittance
and absorbance of a given sample. It works by taking light of various wavelengths and
passing them through a monochromator. A monochromator is a device that transmits
a wavelengthof light. The machine diffracts the wavelengths. The sample that is
placed in a small container, called a cuvette, absorbs various wavelengths. This
depends on the particular sampled being tested. The amount of light absorbed is

For my project, I chose a bird I see quite regularly on campus. That bird is the
Sandhill Crane. It is a tall bird with a long slender neck and beak, rusty grey
feathers, and long legs. They are about 1 1.2 meters, or a little over 3 feet tall. In
addition to their ginormous height, for a bird, their wingspan is as equally
magnificent; measuring in at roughly 1.8 2 meters, or 5.9 feet! This is quite an
impressive wingspan.
This is a bird I see year round all over Florida, though the Birds of North America
chart shows that they are in Polk County during the winter months. The Sandhill
Crane can be found in wetlands or grassy fields near wetland looking for food or
even a place to breed. This type of eco system is best for this bird because it is
designed to walk around and look for food such as crawfish, worms, snakes, mice,
eggs, etc. Obviously, this bird is not meant to be perched up in a tree somewhere;
but rather it is seen walking around grasslands instead of flying. Its long legs give it
a huge advantage for hunting; essentially, they help the bird be able to stand in
shallow water and still be well above the surface of the water to search for prey.

When thinking about my senior year of high school I start to think about a tradition

Abstract: This lab was conducted to determine the efficiency of transfection in
HEK293 cells using cell culture and lipofectamine by growing the HEK293 cells
out in growth medium, and then passaging them into 24 well plate at 50%
confluency. After the passaging of the cells, and aspirating the media after letting the
cells grow in the wells for 24 hours, then a master mix of lipofectamine and GFP
plasmid DNAwas added to 500 microliters of stock DMEM, and then adding 100
microliters of the master mix to each well, and allowing then to grow
overnight.Then the next day accutase was added to dislodge the cells and placed on
a side to view them under a UV microscope to find the efficiency of the transfection.

in correlation to a paper by Thermo Fisher, it makes sense because Thermo were the

Fear is something most people know and can relate to. Your fears can keep you safe
from dangerous situations but can at the same time detain you. Many people struggle
with fears, worries and anxiety every single day. They spend too much time
overthinking situations and consequences of their actions, which can prevent them
from doing what they actually desire. But what would happen if you just once in a
while let go, and enjoyed yourself?

The swan becomes a symbol of her development, but at this time She s quite unready
for the swan . The protagonist is, at this point, going through a development from an
ugly duckling , full of worry and anxiety, to embracing her inner swan and be more
self contained. After the meeting with the swan, there is a change in her mindset.
Before the meeting she was worried about deadlines and scared of crossing her
boundaries, but now she is filled with curiosity, which now is all she is thinking
about now the image of the swan makes it even harder to concentrate, so she
promises herself another swim, at nightfall . The swan becomes an obsession of
the protagonist s, and slowly she begins to let go of her fears and worries The days
become fluid and she spends more time in the river. She is no longer afraid of
anyone coming. Fishermen go upriver in the morning but she doesn t care Her
skin and hair exude a smell of soil, weed and raw water. She barely works . In the
beginning of the short story she worried about being seen by others for an
unknown reason, but now her thoughts have been consumed by pursuing the swan
consequently, making her forget these worries. One night she finds the swan
trapped by a web of fishing lines She pauses. Watches. She swims close enough to
reach out and touch the swan. And finally she sees that it is trapped, bound by a
web of glistering nylon fishing lines. They have slung it up by the neck and caught
its great wings half outstretched. Its only movement is caused by the eddy curling
beneath it . The swan being trapped in the web is a symbol of the protagonist being
trapped in her own mind and anxiety prevented from doing what she wants and
barely being able to move, just like swan. By releasing the swan from the web, she
also releases herself from the prison of her worries. And with the swan disappearing
out of her sight, her fears and worries are disappearing from her mind as well She

The building labeled B appears to be the main building for courses at Local
Community College. Students walk in and out of the building all day and stop only
to enter a classroom or buy food from the vending machines which fill one corner of
the building s long hallway. Often, students sit on the chairs that line the walls while

the ambush of students.

The hallway itself is long and extends in a straight line. The walls are painted a light
grayish blue and the edges are lined by a molding the color of sand. Across from a
classroom door, a fire extinguisher rests in its case concealed by dark glass. A young
man also sits across from the door. He has dark hair about two inches long, and has it
styled in casual disarray. His facial features are well formed, having a strong line
about his jaw and thick eyebrows. His eyes are the color of the sky before a storm.
His body is well proportioned and his clothes are made of designer quality. Other
students walk by, but he does not look up and, even when addressed. He simply
nods or speaks quietly and seems to be engrossed in the study of his book.
The air is filled with a sweet aroma as another female student walks by. The
perfume is strong and people choke and turn their heads when she walks past
them. The sound of noisy flip flops coming down the hallway alerts the boy and he
rises to greet his friend. When standing, he is about six feet tall and seems to be
well muscled. His friend was of much the same description, only the friend is
slightly less muscled and his eyes are the color of the sky on a clear day. Girls
leaning against the walls and sitting in the chairs in the hallway, stare at the two
