Alienation Is Not A New Thing
Alienation is best described as a powerful feeling of isolation and loneliness, which stems from a
variety of causes such as certain events and situations in society or in a persons individual life (
Alienation ). The extent in which a person is alienated varies from mild to severe often depending on
the specific trigger. Most commonly, the feeling of not fitting in with others and being different causes
alienation. However, in some instances a certain life changing event or the accumulation of internal
feelings may cause a person to try and escape from reality. This ultimately results in self triggered
alienation them from the outside world. This is why, although alienation is not necessarily a bad thing,
in long term cases it can have a very negative effect on a person s self confidence and happiness. The
common occurrence of alienation is not a new thing. Although more recently noticed in current social
situations, people have been experiencing this state of isolation throughout all of history. Due to the
modernist movement of the twentieth century, countless pieces of literature explore the effects that
alienation on fictional characters in order to mimic reality. Breaking away from conformism, the
initial drive of individualistic thinking created a sense of alienation for those rejecting social norms
until the final break through occurred in society. Authors of the twentieth century that successfully
grasp this overarching theme of alienation include Albert

Kami Corporation
Written Analysis of a CaseKami CorporationProblem StatementMr. Olano s problem as the newly
appointed General Manager of Kami Corporation is how to improve the operations to meet the
demands of their client and to be a world class company. Areas of ConsiderationProductionInability to
meet production quotas. The owner of Kami Corporation had committed to Aiwa to have production
capacity of 80,000 units per month. At the time the case was written, Aiwa s orders had been 30,000
units per month compared to the output of only 25,000. But the client indicated that orders will
increase to 50,000 to 60,000 within three months. Also, there should have been three production lines

His background as an advisor, troubleshooter, technocrat, in house consultant, and finance manager
and his expertise with export and import documentation and ordering procedures will come in handy
in managing the company. However, he is having problems implementing his solutions since the
production managers refuse to cooperate with him. It is therefore necessary for Mrs. Lee to get
involved in this situation to resolve the differences between Mr. Olano and the production managers.
Unifying the two parties is crucial in solving Kami s problems. Human ResourcesTo start with, Mrs.
Lee should visit the plant to formally introduce Mr. Olano to the rest of the company and emphasize
her reasons in choosing him as the General Manager. She should also highlight Mr. Olano s skills and
capabilities and explain thoroughly why she thinks he is competent enough to direct the company. It
should be done in a way that is not insulting to the more experienced production managers but in a
manner that would help them respect Mr. Olano s competence and her decision to hire him. It is also
important that Mr. Olano s weakness in production should be supplemented with benchmarking and
orientation in similar production companies (local or overseas) so he would have an excellent idea of
the best practices that should be implemented in Kami. There should be an exposure to Aiwa s best
performing plants so that he could understand the entire

Medical Clinic Forecasting
A good forecast should be consistent with other parts of the business, should consider any past data
available, and should take into consideration any potential changes in the economic and political
policies (example affordable care act, etc.). There are many forecasting techniques available and the
challenge is to pick one that fits the best for one s business model. Such techniques include expert
opinion, market research, economic indicators, projections, econometric models, and so on. I think the
projection model would be a great aid in running a medical practice. A projection model is a form of
naĂŻve model that projects trends. Among the projections, there are compound growth rate and time
series techniques. Among such techniques, I think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trend is the direction of movement of data over a relatively long period. In a medical practice, such
trends would include the increase in the number of population that would require medical care in the
future, the number of people that would be medically insured over time, and also the trend in the
neighborhood where the clinic is located. According to the US Census Bureau, the number of
Americans over age 84 is projected to more than triple between 2010 and 2050. Hence, it is clear that
there will be an increase in demand to care for the elderly population with Medicaid plans. Medicaid
plans experienced an initial bump of 10.8 million new enrollees in 2014 because of the healthcare
reform law. But future growth among those newly eligible members in the 28 states that have
approved expansion won t be as large, some experts say (Sandler, 2015). This data of Medicaid plans
shows an uncertainty as even though there is an increase in demand right now, but according to some
experts this might not increase at a constant pace over time. Even in a market oriented society like
ours, government intervention in healthcare has been huge. Government actions play an important role
and impact on healthcare sector and it is obvious that such impacts also affect the competitors. If we
look at the health insurance as a whole instead of just Medicaid plans, we see that the number of
insured will grow over time

Two Kinds of Love in Movie Casablanca Essay
Two Kinds of Love in Movie Casablanca
In the movie Casablanca, directed by Michael Curtiz, two different kinds of love are exposed. The
love relationship between Ilsa Lund and Rick is a more passionate relationship while the one between
Ilsa and Victor Laszlo is more intimate. Love is composed of different feelings and because of that it
can be expressed, as seen in Casablanca, in different ways. The Intimate Relationship Mind , a text by
Garth J. O. Fletcher and Megan Stenswick, helps support that claim providing a scientific background
on how love is shaped by those different feelings. It says that love is composed of three distinct and
basic components that each represent evolved adaptations; namely, intimacy, commitment, ... Show

If two lovers do not share their past with each other it is clear that they are not exactly intimate or
committed. Intimacy and commitment would require trust and sharing things besides their own bodies,
it seems that was not their case. The Intimate Relationship Mind says that in flings or one night stands,
passion can run high, whereas intimacy and commitment are probably low (75). Rick and Ilsa s
relationship seemed to work like that. Nevertheless, there was a moment when Rick s feeling started
to develop and he started to want more intimacy and commitment. That moment was when the Nazis
invaded Paris, and Rick and Ilsa decided to run away. Rick proposed to Ilsa and she didn t really
accept. When Ilsa stood Rick up in the train station the intimacy and commitment that he wanted
faded away, just like the writing on the letter faded away because of the rain. In his face, however, it
could still be seen that the passion remained there. In the end of the movie when Rick says: We ll
always have Paris. We didn t have, we d lost it, until you came to Casablanca. We got it back last
night. He seems to accept that all he and Ilsa have ever had was a passionate relationship and that it
was not supposed to last forever.
The other love relationship portrayed in Casablanca is the intimate relationship between Ilsa and
Laszlo. As opposed to the relationship between Ilsa and Rick, this one has high levels of

Psych Parenting Assessment
I completed seven assessment tests from PsychCentral.com. The tests were based on parenting,
relationships, and personality. The Parenting quiz results were definitely compatible. I scored a 19 in
authoritarianism, which is closer to being authoritative than democratic. My children have a habit of
asking me why, and my response the majority of the time is because I said so. On the other hand,
sometimes I do explain to them the reason behind my demands. In flexibility, I scored a 23 on the
specific end. Having 4 kids aging from 16 to 1, I feel I must run a tight shift. When I set house rules I
expect for them to be followed. I might let them deviate a tad on occasions, but for the most part I like
to have an orderly house. I scored a 9 in permissive, which means I am stricter. This is true. I m a no
nonsense type of person. I was raised with responsibility and order, so it s likely for me to raise my
children the same. I do give my children enough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the How strong is your love quiz proved my thoughts correct. The How deep is your love quiz results
came back exactly how I expected. I am a very passionate person, especially with my fiancé. The next
two tests were interesting. The Sustainable marriage quiz and the Feeling connected quiz showed
some adverse results. My fiancé and I have hit a little rough patch over the last week, so I understand
why I scored low in being connected. I believe it is a normal part of being in a relationship, not
everything is going to be smooth sailing. However, if we weren t in a quarrel, I believe we would be
extremely connected. Our relationship is moderately exciting. We have a solid relationship, but like

Book Report On Charlie s Point Of View
Beginning I ve read a wild, but a mysterious story called Charlie s Point Of View . This book was
created and invented by a brilliant man named Richard Scrimger. This book is a fictional but a great
book. As I take you into the journey/wonders of this book, I ll tell you all about a blind boy solving a
mystery with his powerful senses. The boy who was blind was named as Charlie Fairmile. He has two
other friends who gave him big help and their names were Lewis and Bernadette.
This story mainly started on a busy day when Charlie s dad was late to work. Charlie had to go to
school and his dad had to take him to the school bus. They both rushed in the morning. Charlie s dad

The bandit and Charlie fell to the ground and hit their heads on the concrete. They both faint. After
Bernadette arrives, she tries to wake up Charlie, but there was no signal. She does it the second time
and Charlie awakes. At the same time of the scene, the police shows up. Charlie shows the bandit and
the money. The bandit was Mr. Floyd which was very obvious after Lewis tells his story about the
tombstone. Not only the story but also the countless times that he was late to school. His father had
also a last name of Floyd. That s why the name Floyd appeared on the tombstone.
Well, now that Charlie proved his dad s innocence, his dad was released and is happy with Charlie and
his friends. I rate this book a ten out of ten because this story shows specific details about the mystery
and the clues. In my opinion, this story was very mysterious and scary. I would recommend this book
to ages nine and plus because there are chapters in this book, that the reader would understand. This
story attracted me very much. I could not stop reading! This book will interest you just like it

Cardiovascular System And Aorta Lab Report
Introduction of Cardiovascular System and Aorta
Cardiovascular or circulation system is responsible transportation of hormones, supplying nutrients
and oxygen demands of tissues and also waste removal (8). Pulmonary circulation replenishes blood
with oxygen and eliminates carbon dioxide within lungs, and systemic circulation delivers blood to all
other parts of the body. All systemic circulation begins via aorta, the first blood vessel of the systemic
circulation and the largest artery of the body. All arteries are exposed to high blood pressure or stress
to vessels, and the aorta, being the initial point for entire circulatory pressure gradient, has the highest
intravascular pressure. Therefore, the aortic wall is designed to resist high stress ... Show more content

Outward remodeling is initiated with increased shear stress caused by high flow. The shear stress
signals endothelial cell proliferation and production of nitric oxide by endothelial cells (17, 20). Nitric
oxide induces metalloproteinases, degradation of extracellular matrix, inhibit proliferation of smooth
muscle cells and promote apoptosis of smooth muscle cells (20). Normal endothelium is resistant to
adhesion by monocytes; however, when exposed to shear stress, monocytes can attach to endothelium
(10). The recruited monocytes or macrophages, the mature form of monocytes, also play a key role in
remodeling by producing matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) among other tissues that produce MMPs
(10, 20). At least 13 different MMPs have been identified and MMP 2 and MMP 9 are noted to cleave
elastin (1). The matrix proteolytic activity or the breakdown of extracellular matrix is necessary as it
provides additional space for enlarging vessel (20) and also fragments of elastin allows for smooth
muscle proliferation (10). The outward remodeling is reversible if the shear stress is decreased for a
prolonged period

The Portrayal of Differences in Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw...
Examine the portrayal of difference (e.g physical limitations, mental illness, race, class, or sexual
identity) in at least two literary works you have studied.
It can be noted that throughout both texts difference can be found portrayed in different ways. The
texts I will be focussing on are Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw and The Handmaids Tale by Margaret
Atwood. Whether it be the difference in class between Eliza Doolittle her father and her mentors Mr
Henry Higgins and Colonel Pickering or in the case of the Handmaids tale of Offred status in class in
comparison to the Commander and his wife. Difference can also be noticed by the different
occupations and titles denoted by people in the different texts such as doctor and commander . This
essay shall also explore how noticeable the differences are of Eliza, before she became a lady and how
the difference between the normal life and now the Gilead regime. Of the three questions offered I felt
that this one in particular stood out as having the most links between each other with the portrayal of
difference in both texts being noticeable.
The difference in class is particularly apparent in The Handmaids Tale in which people are denoted by
colours according to their rankings. In the case of Offred she is denoted by dressing all in red to
recognise her fertility and ripeness. However Offred also sees this as a connotation of blood,
sometimes being something of a life force for her, yet also associating it with violence and

Compare And Contrast Cyrano De Bergerac
A great nose may be an index of a great soul (Rostand 30). This quote by Cyrano is one of many
interesting quotes that the play Cyrano de Bergerac contains. The play is a dramatic comedy written in
1897 by Edmond Rostand about a cadet named Cyrano who has fallen in love with the beautiful
women Roxane. On the contrary, Roxanne, which is a movie based off of the play Cyrano de
Bergerac, takes place in the 1980 s and takes the same plot. The two stories have many comparisons
and contrast in many ways. One example of this is between the two characters Cyrano and C.D. Both
Cyrano and C.D are known for their incredible ability at doing their jobs. Cyrano is known for being
one of the best cadets to ever live and C.D is an excellent Fire Chief. Although they are both widely

the scene between C.D and a random man at a bar. Valvert, a young and insolent man, and the random
man decide to insult Cyrano and C.D s large nose and both immediately regret it. Cyrano and C.D
embarrass them both as they critique their insults and then come up with 20 of their own hilarious
jokes off of the top of their head. The difference in the scenes is that Cyrano makes it clear to all that
his swordplay is spectacular when he battles Valvert. Cyrano is challenged to duel Valvert and during
their duel Cyrano starts to realize that Valvert is having trouble with Cyrano. He then decides to
challenge himself by making an incredibly well written poem to put him in his place while dueling
him and eventually killing him. C.D does not kill anyone, but when the random man attacks C.D, he is
countered and knocked out by C.D in one strike. This scene is one of most important scenes that share

The Disrespects Of Standing Up For Hawaiian Culture
We wouldnʻt disrespect our Kupuna by standing for the very song that took away their land and all
their mana, Kaʻipu Baker explained. Although some people think standing up for our ancestors is
disrespectful there is the reason to why we stand up for them. Think about it, would you stand up for
your own culture if someone took it away from you? That is exactly what Winona Beamer, Graduates
from Kamehameha Kapālama schools and Eddie Pu decided to do. Even though there are many
disagreements towards us as Hawaiians. Being a Hawaiian means standing up for your culture and our

Standing up for Hawaiian Culture is not easy but a lady named Winona Beamer did what she thought
was right when she felt her culture got ripped away from her. Winona decided to Chant in front of her
elders in the school because she knew it wasnʻt right that she couldnʻt chant or speak Hawaiian in a
Hawaiian school. Due to her actions, she was expelled from the school from the principal the next day.
In her words this is how she felt, I wanted to see the will. I begged to see the will. I couldnʻt believe
the princess (Bernice Pauahi Bishop) would say no Hawaiian spoken, no chanting, no dancing. I
couldnʻt believe a Hawaiian Princess would say that. (pg.99) Winona Beamer. There are many of us
who would just leave the school but Winona Beamer stood up for herself because she knew it wasnʻt

The And Of The Basement
We decided to have Timmy open the door. That way, if the undead occupant of the basement was
actually at the top of the stairs, we would be, hopefully, able to bring one or both of our weapons to
bear. We hoped to push the zombie down the stairwell; and, if we were lucky, that would create the
necessary trauma to the brain area to cause permanent death. The needs of the many outweigh the
needs of the few, said Tim stoically with a knowing grin. Or the one, added Dean. I had no idea what
they were talking about. As the door swung out, we lunged into the breach. The stairs before us were
empty. We could hear muffled sounds from the kitchen. Here zombie, zombie, zombie... Dean called

The zombie flew out and away, then connected with the steps. Bouncing off the step treads, it rolled
from back to neck to head as the being flipped down the stairs. We kept our distance, not wanting to
rush in, but content to wait and see the outcome of the fall. When the beast came to rest at the bottom
of the steps, we could clearly see, by the odd direction his neck bent, that he was going to stay dead
this time. Dean fearlessly took the lead once again, his descent slowing as he neared the bottom.
Gingerly, he avoided the crumpled heap of the zombie at the base of the stairs., taking great pains to
tiptoe around the leg that angled out, blocking the path. As I mirrored his movements, I could clearly
see where Dean had shot the now still undead. The bullet had definitely struck it in the head, but it
was more a glancing blow, enough to make it drop but obviously not enough to keep it down. We
made our way to the kitchen and began rifling through the cupboards, sometimes slipping on the
debris the undead had knocked on the floor. We avoided the blood splattered areas from the zombie s
earlier head wound, searching only the untainted storage areas, not wanting to take any risks with
whatever contamination caused this outbreak. Most of the cupboards were empty. The few that held
anything at all were mostly pots, pans, paper products and empty plastic

The Actions of Judge Danforth in The Crucible Essay
In any community, the people rely on the power of law and justice to protect them. When the
guardians of the law and order misuse their power it brings tragedy upon the town. In Arthur Miller s
The Crucible the inappropriate actions of the character of Judge Danforth, the voice of authority of the
community leads to the tragedy of social disruption of the town accompanied by breakdown in
communal solidarity. Firstly, throughout the play Judge Danforth acts with pride and arrogance. At the
commencement of act III Judge Danforth voices his view on the ongoing phase of the witchcraft trials
by stating that Do you take it upon yourself to determine what this court shall believe and what it shall
set aside? (Miller 85). Here Danforth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His reply is accompanied with a vindictive nature towards anyone who opposes the actions of the
court or by extension, him. Therefore, his arrogance and pride restrains him from listening to others
point of view. Lastly, despite hearing about the mass opposition and rebellion at the Andover
witchcraft trials, Judge Danforth refuses to postpone the hangings and orders Reverend Parris that
Now hear me, and beguile yourselves no more... Postponement now speaks a floundering on my part.
(Miller 129). Danforth arrogantly waves off the request of postponement made by Hale and Parris. He
thinks that the act of postponement of the hangings will raise the issue of his credibility as a judge.
Danforth s pride of his status as a judge denies him from giving it a thought that his actions can lead to
the death of innocent lives. When pride and arrogance interferes with ones wisdom the repercussions
are often destructive. Judge Danforth proves this through the medium of his actions which lead to the
destruction of trustworthiness in the community and brought tragedy to Salem. Secondly, Judge
Danforth s irrationality and ignorance brings about poor decisions on his part. One of the instances
where Danforth reveals his following attitude is when he denies to even look at a deposition presented
by John Proctor as described by his words No, no, I accept no depositions (Miller 88). John Proctor
hands him a deposition signed by Mary warren, stating that

Roles Of Women In The Saga Of King Hrolf Kraki
Vraj Patel
What were the roles of women in the Saga of King Hrolf Kraki? Compare and contrast the various
female characters in the story. How were women viewed in Viking culture in general? In the Saga of
King Hrolf Kraki, there were four main groups of women: Queens, sorceresses, a freeman s loyal
daughter and an elfin woman and her daughters (Anon, Introduction). As stated in the Introduction of
the book, the important events turn on decisions made by women. Throughout the book, this quote
came to represent the fact that almost all the wars/fights within the saga was caused by some action of
a woman. Almost all these actions of the women in this saga was the root cause for all the wars/fights
in this book. Because of this, the women are actually seen to be what is connecting all the saga s
different episodes/chapters, despite the fact the whole book revolves around King Hrolf (Anon,
Introduction). So within the Saga of King Hrolf Kraki, the primary role of women is steer and further
progress the saga as the connecting characters. Almost all the female characters in the story were seen
as a possession and/or wife. One of the few exceptions to this would be Queen Olof, the mother of
Yrsa. Queen Olof acted more as if she were a king rather than a Queen, in the sense that she would
dress in a coat of mail, carried a sword and shield, and wore a helmet (Anon, 6. King Helgi attempts).

Deliberate Self-Harm Paper
Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting
behavior. Past occurrences may cause someone to act in a certain way, especially within social
situations. Deliberate Self Harm (DSH) is a behavior in which a person commits an act with the
purpose of physically harming themselves with or without real suicidal intent. Self harm is most often
related to going through trauma in childhood rather than as an adult. There are many reasons why
people are known to self harm; a lot of the time it is to help feel the pain they are feeling on the inside
in another way. One of the reasons a person may self harm is due to a high rate of childhood sexual or
physical abuse within their past. Despite people s beliefs, people who suffer from a self harm disorder
are not doing it for attention. If someone sees cuts or scars on someone s wrists or legs, their
immediate reaction is that it is from attention. In reality people who self harm are not doing it for
attention and a lot of the time these people take every precaution to hide the cuts to not be questioned
about it. There has been research conducted on many aspects that tie into this behavior; research that
involves both men and women, the outcomes of childhood abuse, and more. Together, these articles of

Throughout the course of history repressive forms of government have utilized specific elements of
power to manipulate their constituents. The Stasi, the former official state security of Eastern
Germany, is commonly referred to as one of the most oppressive secret police agencies to have weald
any political power. In present day Russia, President Vladimir Putin exploits his extreme qualities of
masculinity to promote and carry through a specific agenda. Both forms of manipulation are
incredibly harmful tactics to further control the people of non democratic societies. The Stasi, formally
known as the East German State Security Service, was founded in February of 1950. The Stasi were

This is in great contrast to more Western Democratic nations during that time period, which many
Eastern Germans only dreamed about fleeing to. In the summer of 1963, United States president John
Fitzgerald Kennedy, also known as JFK, traveled to give a speech in the Democratic West Berlin.
Only 22 months prior the communist USSR erected the Berlin wall , dividing the city by political
ideology. Kennedy concludes his speech by stating Ich bin ein Berliner meaning I am a Berliner . This
was directed toward the citizens of Eastern Berlin who wanted nothing more than to reap the benefits
of a country like America. The Stasi s involvement in the personal sphere of everyday individual lives
is arguably one of the greatest breaches of a person s God given personal freedoms of the 20th
century. In the communist East, anyone even vaguely suspected of being an enemy of the state could
expect to have their phones tapped, their apartments bugged, their letters opened and copied and even
to be secretly photographed or filmed. It was all used as material for their personal Stasi file. Under
Stasi supervision no one personal could obtain actual freedom. The File, written by Timothy Grattan,

Key Factors For Employee Retention
Talent Retention Means Profit Maximisation Today, profit maximisation is the aim of every
commercial organisation which can be achieved only through its people. High turnover in the sales
and account department is always a reason to proud for businesses, contrary to this, high turnover of
employees is a big concern which requires immediate attention of the HR managers, particularly in the
small and midsized companies. High employee turnover rate severely affects the performance as well
as the reputation of a firm in the long run, it inflicts unnecessary cost burden and retards the overall
growth of an organisation. Low investment and high productivity is the success mantra of present
times people centric organisations in both service and manufacturing ... Show more content on

Build An Exciting Company That Does Something Big Attracting top talent starts with building a
business that people want to be part of, says Robert Hatta, talent partner at Drive Capital, which
invests in Midwest companies. Everything else, including where a startup is located, is secondary, he
says. although strong co worker relations are important, the relationship an employee has with their
direct line manager is central. Trust, honesty and confidence all must be instilled in order to ensure
performance. 2. Define Yourself Before You Hire , The Hiring Process Should Reflect Your Culture an
often overlooked element of a business can be its cultural environment. Having a healthy and happy
workplace is also a large contributor to talent retention. Prioritizing your employees needs (not just
extracting value from them) signals you care, which in turn will help increase engagement and
retention. According to recent research, the leading career need is related to development and growth.
Consider the fact that 58 percent of millennials cite career growth and professional development as
their primary career goal. Further, a lack of growth is the leading reason employees leave their current

Zopiclone Is A Drug First Developed By Rhone Poulenc Rore
Zopiclone is a cyclopyrrolone drug first developed by RhĂŽne Poulenc Rore (1, page 220) in the early
1970s (2). It is classified as a GABAA receptor agonist, and is a central nervous system depressant.
Zopiclone binds onto subunits on the GABAA receptor and modulates the opening of the chloride ion
channels in the neuron cell membrane (3, page 1). By increasing the conductance of chloride ions and
hyperpolarizing the neuron, the frequency of action potentials is reduced. This causes an inhibition of
brain activity, causing zopiclone to have hypnotic, sedative, muscle relaxant, anxiolytic, and
anticonvulsant effects (4).
Zopiclone acts much in the same way as benzodiazepines when used to treat insomnia, but was
believed to have less adverse effects, and less potential for developing tolerance and addiction. As a
result, it was first marketed as a better alternative to benzodiazepines. However, recent studies have
revealed that it is unclear whether zopiclone shows improvements over benzodiazepines when
assessed on therapeutic qualities and addiction potential (5, page 1). As a result, both zopiclone and
benzodiazepines are included in schedule IV of the United States Controlled Substances Act (6).
Zopiclone is known by several brand names, such as Imovane, Zimovane and Zimoclone (7). It is used
to treat insomnia in adults arising from increased sleep latency, frequent awakenings during in the
night, and premature awakening (3, page 1). Zopiclone alleviates the symptoms of

Contraceptive And Birth Control And Contraception
Are you using or someone you know partaking in a contraceptive method? Chances are you answered
yes since more than 99% of women...have used at least one contraceptive method (Contraceptive Use
in the United States). But you are probably using the wrong type. I can enlighten you to the most
effective and all around most appealing birth control on the market known as the ParaGard IUD.
Before we dive in we must ask ourselves, what is birth control? What is the difference between it and
contraception? Well, the only difference is what the common belief in society is, of each. Society
commonly thinks that birth control is a tiny pill that takes care of your own or someone else s
pregnancy worries. This is true, but it is only a type of birth control. Also, in false thinking, many
individuals believe contraception is a fancy word for condoms. As with the pill condoms are only a
type of contraceptive. Society only has a small spectrum of what contraceptive and birth control is. In
reality, they are definitely the same. By definition, birth control is contraception; an online dictionary
states that it is the deliberate prevention of conception or impregnation (MerriamWebster.org). There
are many forms of contraception. It is a major contributor to why our population is limited to 7.4
billion people (Current World Population). If you are ever considering a contraception method the
Intrauterine device, especially the ParaGard, will be a dependable option to keep the population

In the Rodriguez family, Spanish was respected and appreciated while the kids were little. The
children grew up using that language in this private sphere making the distinction of what they heard

language their parents failed in producing, making Rodriguez developing shameful feelings to their

about what means for a child being immerse in two languages and two cultures. Brice Heath (1983)
refers to the ability of the speakers to shift not just language, but also their roles as ways to protect
themselves from the outsiders expectations. Children are very sensible in this matter. Rodriguez grew

and maintaining the family language. Rodriguez attended a Catholic school, where almost all his
classmates were white from the upper middle class, rich people. His relationships with people from a
different background, and more importantly from the privileged middle class white society, put him in
another perspective. Progressively, English was replacing Spanish as the private language at home.
For the Rodriguez family, it was a way to gain acceptance by their white neighbors, and praise the

My Fondness And Love Of Video Games
Introduction
My fondness and love for gaming started when I was only 3 years old. This is when my life collection
started and my obsession with computers, consoles and games evolved. To understand my obsession
and collection one has to recognise the history of video games. In the early 1950 s the video game was
developed. It all started in a concrete arcade and progressed to the comfort of our homes. It s not just
games and gaming consoles, but home computers and the technology that is available to make this
virtual world your own and a big part of modern culture.
Although my gaming life started in 1997, the technology jump from the 8 bit to 64 bit was

Persuasive Essay On How To Change A Flat Tire
How to Change a Flat Tire
Suppose you are driving to your local convenience store. Suddenly, you hit a sharp object, and your
tire blows. What do you do? Do you panic and call roadside assistance, or are you lucky enough to
have the knowledge to replace the tire? It is surprising that many people have no idea how to change a
flat tire. It is a shame that more people do not know how to perform such a simple and useful task.
Learning this skill will help you become more independent and get you back on the road quicker.
Luckily, it is not that hard to learn. Follow these simple steps, and you will have a new tire on your car
in approximately eight to ten minutes.
We have already set the scene for how you got a flat tire: you are driving to the local store, suddenly,
you run over something sharp and your tire pops. The key step in this process is to stay calm and try to
think logically so that you do not make any dangerous mistakes. First, find a safe place to park your
car. Make sure that you have room to work and that you are safe from oncoming traffic. Next, lock
your emergency brakes. It is very important to do this. This will prevent your car from rolling into
oncoming traffic. There are many accidents that can happen during this whole process. For example,
you or someone else could get hit by the car if the steps are not followed precisely. If you are on a
mountainous road, try to find the flattest slope to park on. Lastly, place an object under the wheel

The Influence Of Dark Knight Returns On Cultural...
Another way in which Batman displays himself as a Byronic hero is his function as a subversive
character which refuses to submit to demonic forces. He tries to appear to be a man who is morally
upright. However, Batman is unable to separate himself from the pain of his parents untimely death,
which gives him a new identity as a mysterious masked crime fighter. In most books and films, he
tries to put this tragic incident behind him without much success. As Peter J. Tomasi indicates, instead
we see a presentation of Batman s powers by exacting strange acts in the name of justice like
teleporting hotheaded (1). Another work by Crutcher emphasizes that Many Lives of the Batman and
Batman Unmasked are bought in three areas: popular culture studies, popular culture as it relates to
marketing and consumerism, and the nature of the comic publishing industry. Most writers have
examined the impact of Dark Knight Returns on cultural consciousness, politics, and so on. This
antihero construction sparks centuries old dialogues on ethics, the kind of business that comprises the
bulk of Batman. The complexities and graphics in the novel and comic of Batman have been defined
as his duality with his villains (Crutcher 66). Due to popularity and the existence of Batman, people
began using the Batman symbol as paraphernalia on personal belongings such as clothing, equipment,
and supplies. Byronic hero is said to be intelligent, cunning and able to adapt, mysterious as well as

Great Butte Mining Research Paper
On June 8, 1917, one of the most devastating disasters in Montana took place. Over 160 miners died,
this disaster being the Great Butte Mining Disaster of 1917. It was truly a devastation... When a fire

There are very few people that could fit this title, but in Electric Funeral, a chapter in I Wear the Black

what some of these villains of today are: different types of technocrats. The three villains he mainly

about this information is that no one has really stopped him or any of this staff from not releasing new

possible solution to ease up Wikileaks aggressive nature is to release tidbits of information, and rally
the people to pressure the government in releasing the rest. That sure may make the release more self

The simulators used today are extremely accurate as to the limitations of people and equipment, and as
advances in technology improve so do the simulators, as they become more and more realistic.
Computer game technology is also responsible for these improvements; today s video game consoles
have many times the computing power than the military s simulators a few years ago.2 The army has
even developed its own video game based on the simulators it uses for combat training. Americas
Army is more than just a shoot em up game; it is built to portray a real soldiers life, everything from
basic training to choosing a career. According to one of the games designers, Lt. Col. Casey
Wardynski, the game took over two years and around $8 million dollars (USD) to develop, but the
main point of the game is education of real Army life, and is said to be the most realistic game ever
developed. Simulators cannot however depict every aspect of military life, dealing with other team
members, salty commanders, and there is nothing to simulate being cold, tired and hungry at the end
of the day. All in all however, simulators are a vital part of today s military training and operations. In
the near future, if it is not already possible, I would not be surprised if a simulator can be developed
for any situation by simply inputting a given situation, and the soldiers will be able to use the
simulator before going into the actual combat situation.

Language and Art share many similar tendencies. In language, as with earlier forms of Art,
representation plays a large role. Language acts as a representation of some elaborate envisioned

The Great Chicago Fire of 1871
The Great Chicago Fire was a major milestone in the city s history. The fire started on October 8th,
1871 and did not end until October 10th, 1871. People never saw this fire coming which might have
made it even worse. The only reason it spread so far was because everything was made out of wood,
the ground was parched and the wind was blowing that night; the reason it stopped was because it had
started raining. Although the fire destroyed most of the city, it was a positive turning point in history.
The Chicago Fire improved firefighting and their equipment, new buildings that were made out of
fireproof materials, and it brought big investors to the city. There were more than 334,000 people in

That allowed shipments of aid to come in from around the world. Book donations from England were

The rebuilding of Chicago started immediately, sometimes even before the architect and engineers had

materials like brick, stone, marble and limestone because of the fire. These materials that are way
more expensive than wood were held together by a strong, sticky substance called mortar. The
construction technique using that substance is called masonry and the skilled groups of construction
workers are called masons. Many Chicagoans could not afford the fireproof materials, the skilled
masons or the insurance to rebuild. Without rebuilding or insuring their property, thousands of people
were crowded out of Chicago. Many businesses ignored the new building laws.

  • 2. Alienation Is Not A New Thing Alienation is best described as a powerful feeling of isolation and loneliness, which stems from a variety of causes such as certain events and situations in society or in a persons individual life ( Alienation ). The extent in which a person is alienated varies from mild to severe often depending on the specific trigger. Most commonly, the feeling of not fitting in with others and being different causes alienation. However, in some instances a certain life changing event or the accumulation of internal feelings may cause a person to try and escape from reality. This ultimately results in self triggered alienation them from the outside world. This is why, although alienation is not necessarily a bad thing, in long term cases it can have a very negative effect on a person s self confidence and happiness. The common occurrence of alienation is not a new thing. Although more recently noticed in current social situations, people have been experiencing this state of isolation throughout all of history. Due to the modernist movement of the twentieth century, countless pieces of literature explore the effects that alienation on fictional characters in order to mimic reality. Breaking away from conformism, the initial drive of individualistic thinking created a sense of alienation for those rejecting social norms until the final break through occurred in society. Authors of the twentieth century that successfully grasp this overarching theme of alienation include Albert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Kami Corporation Written Analysis of a CaseKami CorporationProblem StatementMr. Olano s problem as the newly appointed General Manager of Kami Corporation is how to improve the operations to meet the demands of their client and to be a world class company. Areas of ConsiderationProductionInability to meet production quotas. The owner of Kami Corporation had committed to Aiwa to have production capacity of 80,000 units per month. At the time the case was written, Aiwa s orders had been 30,000 units per month compared to the output of only 25,000. But the client indicated that orders will increase to 50,000 to 60,000 within three months. Also, there should have been three production lines with output of 1,000 units per day per line but there were only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His background as an advisor, troubleshooter, technocrat, in house consultant, and finance manager and his expertise with export and import documentation and ordering procedures will come in handy in managing the company. However, he is having problems implementing his solutions since the production managers refuse to cooperate with him. It is therefore necessary for Mrs. Lee to get involved in this situation to resolve the differences between Mr. Olano and the production managers. Unifying the two parties is crucial in solving Kami s problems. Human ResourcesTo start with, Mrs. Lee should visit the plant to formally introduce Mr. Olano to the rest of the company and emphasize her reasons in choosing him as the General Manager. She should also highlight Mr. Olano s skills and capabilities and explain thoroughly why she thinks he is competent enough to direct the company. It should be done in a way that is not insulting to the more experienced production managers but in a manner that would help them respect Mr. Olano s competence and her decision to hire him. It is also important that Mr. Olano s weakness in production should be supplemented with benchmarking and orientation in similar production companies (local or overseas) so he would have an excellent idea of the best practices that should be implemented in Kami. There should be an exposure to Aiwa s best performing plants so that he could understand the entire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Medical Clinic Forecasting A good forecast should be consistent with other parts of the business, should consider any past data available, and should take into consideration any potential changes in the economic and political policies (example affordable care act, etc.). There are many forecasting techniques available and the challenge is to pick one that fits the best for one s business model. Such techniques include expert opinion, market research, economic indicators, projections, econometric models, and so on. I think the projection model would be a great aid in running a medical practice. A projection model is a form of naĂŻve model that projects trends. Among the projections, there are compound growth rate and time series techniques. Among such techniques, I think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trend is the direction of movement of data over a relatively long period. In a medical practice, such trends would include the increase in the number of population that would require medical care in the future, the number of people that would be medically insured over time, and also the trend in the neighborhood where the clinic is located. According to the US Census Bureau, the number of Americans over age 84 is projected to more than triple between 2010 and 2050. Hence, it is clear that there will be an increase in demand to care for the elderly population with Medicaid plans. Medicaid plans experienced an initial bump of 10.8 million new enrollees in 2014 because of the healthcare reform law. But future growth among those newly eligible members in the 28 states that have approved expansion won t be as large, some experts say (Sandler, 2015). This data of Medicaid plans shows an uncertainty as even though there is an increase in demand right now, but according to some experts this might not increase at a constant pace over time. Even in a market oriented society like ours, government intervention in healthcare has been huge. Government actions play an important role and impact on healthcare sector and it is obvious that such impacts also affect the competitors. If we look at the health insurance as a whole instead of just Medicaid plans, we see that the number of insured will grow over time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Two Kinds of Love in Movie Casablanca Essay Two Kinds of Love in Movie Casablanca In the movie Casablanca, directed by Michael Curtiz, two different kinds of love are exposed. The love relationship between Ilsa Lund and Rick is a more passionate relationship while the one between Ilsa and Victor Laszlo is more intimate. Love is composed of different feelings and because of that it can be expressed, as seen in Casablanca, in different ways. The Intimate Relationship Mind , a text by Garth J. O. Fletcher and Megan Stenswick, helps support that claim providing a scientific background on how love is shaped by those different feelings. It says that love is composed of three distinct and basic components that each represent evolved adaptations; namely, intimacy, commitment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If two lovers do not share their past with each other it is clear that they are not exactly intimate or committed. Intimacy and commitment would require trust and sharing things besides their own bodies, it seems that was not their case. The Intimate Relationship Mind says that in flings or one night stands, passion can run high, whereas intimacy and commitment are probably low (75). Rick and Ilsa s relationship seemed to work like that. Nevertheless, there was a moment when Rick s feeling started to develop and he started to want more intimacy and commitment. That moment was when the Nazis invaded Paris, and Rick and Ilsa decided to run away. Rick proposed to Ilsa and she didn t really accept. When Ilsa stood Rick up in the train station the intimacy and commitment that he wanted faded away, just like the writing on the letter faded away because of the rain. In his face, however, it could still be seen that the passion remained there. In the end of the movie when Rick says: We ll always have Paris. We didn t have, we d lost it, until you came to Casablanca. We got it back last night. He seems to accept that all he and Ilsa have ever had was a passionate relationship and that it was not supposed to last forever. The other love relationship portrayed in Casablanca is the intimate relationship between Ilsa and Laszlo. As opposed to the relationship between Ilsa and Rick, this one has high levels of ... • 7. Psych Parenting Assessment I completed seven assessment tests from PsychCentral.com. The tests were based on parenting, relationships, and personality. The Parenting quiz results were definitely compatible. I scored a 19 in authoritarianism, which is closer to being authoritative than democratic. My children have a habit of asking me why, and my response the majority of the time is because I said so. On the other hand, sometimes I do explain to them the reason behind my demands. In flexibility, I scored a 23 on the specific end. Having 4 kids aging from 16 to 1, I feel I must run a tight shift. When I set house rules I expect for them to be followed. I might let them deviate a tad on occasions, but for the most part I like to have an orderly house. I scored a 9 in permissive, which means I am stricter. This is true. I m a no nonsense type of person. I was raised with responsibility and order, so it s likely for me to raise my children the same. I do give my children enough ... I feel I have a great relationship, but there is always room to improve and learn from each other. Scoring a 46, the How strong is your love quiz proved my thoughts correct. The How deep is your love quiz results came back exactly how I expected. I am a very passionate person, especially with my fiancĂ©. The next two tests were interesting. The Sustainable marriage quiz and the Feeling connected quiz showed some adverse results. My fiancĂ© and I have hit a little rough patch over the last week, so I understand why I scored low in being connected. I believe it is a normal part of being in a relationship, not everything is going to be smooth sailing. However, if we weren t in a quarrel, I believe we would be extremely connected. This book was created and invented by a brilliant man named Richard Scrimger. This book is a fictional but a great book. As I take you into the journey/wonders of this book, I ll tell you all about a blind boy solving a mystery with his powerful senses. The boy who was blind was named as Charlie Fairmile. He has two other friends who gave him big help and their names were Lewis and Bernadette. This story mainly started on a busy day when Charlie s dad was late to work. Charlie had to go to school and his dad had to take him to the school bus. They both rushed in the morning. Charlie s dad dropped Charlie to the school bus and Charlie went to school ... After Bernadette arrives, she tries to wake up Charlie, but there was no signal. She does it the second time and Charlie awakes. At the same time of the scene, the police shows up. Charlie shows the bandit and the money. The bandit was Mr. Floyd which was very obvious after Lewis tells his story about the tombstone. Not only the story but also the countless times that he was late to school. His father had also a last name of Floyd. That s why the name Floyd appeared on the tombstone. Well, now that Charlie proved his dad s innocence, his dad was released and is happy with Charlie and his friends. I rate this book a ten out of ten because this story shows specific details about the mystery and the clues. In my opinion, this story was very mysterious and scary. Cardiovascular System And Aorta Lab Report Introduction of Cardiovascular System and Aorta Cardiovascular or circulation system is responsible transportation of hormones, supplying nutrients and oxygen demands of tissues and also waste removal (8). Pulmonary circulation replenishes blood with oxygen and eliminates carbon dioxide within lungs, and systemic circulation delivers blood to all other parts of the body. All systemic circulation begins via aorta, the first blood vessel of the systemic circulation and the largest artery of the body. All arteries are exposed to high blood pressure or stress to vessels, and the aorta, being the initial point for entire circulatory pressure gradient, has the highest intravascular pressure. Therefore, the aortic wall is designed to resist high stress ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Outward remodeling is initiated with increased shear stress caused by high flow. The shear stress signals endothelial cell proliferation and production of nitric oxide by endothelial cells (17, 20). Nitric oxide induces metalloproteinases, degradation of extracellular matrix, inhibit proliferation of smooth muscle cells and promote apoptosis of smooth muscle cells (20). Normal endothelium is resistant to adhesion by monocytes; however, when exposed to shear stress, monocytes can attach to endothelium (10). The recruited monocytes or macrophages, the mature form of monocytes, also play a key role in remodeling by producing matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) among other tissues that produce MMPs (10, 20). At least 13 different MMPs have been identified and MMP 2 and MMP 9 are noted to cleave elastin (1). The matrix proteolytic activity or the breakdown of extracellular matrix is necessary as it provides additional space for enlarging vessel (20) and also fragments of elastin allows for smooth muscle proliferation (10). • 12. The Portrayal of Differences in Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw... Examine the portrayal of difference (e.g physical limitations, mental illness, race, class, or sexual identity) in at least two literary works you have studied. It can be noted that throughout both texts difference can be found portrayed in different ways. The texts I will be focussing on are Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw and The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood. Whether it be the difference in class between Eliza Doolittle her father and her mentors Mr Henry Higgins and Colonel Pickering or in the case of the Handmaids tale of Offred status in class in comparison to the Commander and his wife. Difference can also be noticed by the different occupations and titles denoted by people in the different texts such as doctor and commander . This essay shall also explore how noticeable the differences are of Eliza, before she became a lady and how the difference between the normal life and now the Gilead regime. Of the three questions offered I felt that this one in particular stood out as having the most links between each other with the portrayal of difference in both texts being noticeable. The difference in class is particularly apparent in The Handmaids Tale in which people are denoted by colours according to their rankings. In the case of Offred she is denoted by dressing all in red to recognise her fertility and ripeness. • 22. Zopiclone Is A Drug First Developed By Rhone Poulenc Rore Zopiclone is a cyclopyrrolone drug first developed by RhĂŽne Poulenc Rore (1, page 220) in the early 1970s (2). It is classified as a GABAA receptor agonist, and is a central nervous system depressant. Zopiclone binds onto subunits on the GABAA receptor and modulates the opening of the chloride ion channels in the neuron cell membrane (3, page 1). By increasing the conductance of chloride ions and hyperpolarizing the neuron, the frequency of action potentials is reduced. This causes an inhibition of brain activity, causing zopiclone to have hypnotic, sedative, muscle relaxant, anxiolytic, and anticonvulsant effects (4). Zopiclone acts much in the same way as benzodiazepines when used to treat insomnia, but was believed to have less adverse effects, and less potential for developing tolerance and addiction. As a result, it was first marketed as a better alternative to benzodiazepines. However, recent studies have revealed that it is unclear whether zopiclone shows improvements over benzodiazepines when assessed on therapeutic qualities and addiction potential (5, page 1). As a result, both zopiclone and benzodiazepines are included in schedule IV of the United States Controlled Substances Act (6). Zopiclone is known by several brand names, such as Imovane, Zimovane and Zimoclone (7). It is used to treat insomnia in adults arising from increased sleep latency, frequent awakenings during in the night, and premature awakening (3, page 1). Zopiclone alleviates the symptoms of ... Simulators cannot however depict every aspect of military life, dealing with other team members, salty commanders, and there is nothing to simulate being cold, tired and hungry at the end of the day. All in all however, simulators are a vital part of today s military training and operations. In the near future, if it is not already possible, I would not be surprised if a simulator can be developed for any situation by simply inputting a given situation, and the soldiers will be able to use the simulator before going into the actual combat situation. ... Within these mediums exist elements that make Art and Language and, by extension, Writing successful. ese are the signifiers. e signifiers are built imperfectly, they summon up signs other than those intended based on frequency of usage, misusage and place contextually. ey are influenced by a multitude of extra textual forces. It is only through a complex system of resonance between signs that philosophy can be successful and hone the right tone of capturing a desired essence. e abandoned sired signs are le to the side, defamiliarised and alienated to yield a complete perception of one concept at the sacrifice of several. All of his references that he sacrifices to produce a value of diffĂ©rance are outside and pre produced. In the same vein, Art wishes to hone the viewer s attention to some smaller aspect of the larger canvas or something completely outside. Take Picasso s 1937 painting La Guernica, the aesthetic aim was for the signifiers (the magnified Cubist heads) to signify the terror of the Spanish Civil War, an action completely extra textual. People never saw this fire coming which might have made it even worse. There were laws that were passed requiring new buildings with fireproof materials like brick, stone, marble and limestone because of the fire. These materials that are way more expensive than wood were held together by a strong, sticky substance called mortar. The construction technique using that substance is called masonry and the skilled groups of construction workers are called masons. Many Chicagoans could not afford the fireproof materials, the skilled masons or the insurance to rebuild. Without rebuilding or insuring their property, thousands of people were crowded out of Chicago. Many businesses ignored the new building laws.
