Essay on Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop for...
Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop for Death
Emily Dickinson s Because I could not stop for Death is a remarkable masterpiece that exercises
thought between the known and the unknown. In Dickinson s poem, Because I could not stop Death,
there is much impression in the tone, in symbols and in the use of imagery that over flow with
creativity. One might undoubtedly agree to an eerie, haunting, if not frightening, tone and use of
symbolism in Dickinson s poem.
Dickinson uses controlling adjectives slowly and passed to create a tone that seems rather placid. For
example, We slowly drove He knew no Haste / ...We passed the School ... / We passed the Setting Sun
(5,9,11,12), sets a slow, quiet, and clam ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first site We passed was the School, where children strove (9). Because it deals with an important
symbol, the Ring this first scene is perhaps the most important. On this invited journey, one vividly
sees Children playing. Laughing and singing. This scene conveys emotions and moods through verbal
pictures.
The imagery in the final scene, We passed the Setting Sun (12) is very emotional. One can clearly
picture a warm setting sun, perhaps, over a grassy horizon. The idea of a setting sun, aftermath a fact
of slumber in a cold dark night. When Dickinson passed the Setting Sun, night drew nigh and it was
time to go home and sleep. Symbolically, her tour of life was over; it was now time for Eternity death.
While sight seeing in the carriage, one can gather, by the setting of the sun, that this ride was glimpse
of life flashing before her eyes; just as said to happen before you die. Lines 14 and 15 seem to support
this idea. The dews drew quivering and chill / For only Gossamer, my Gown (14 15). This indicates a
pleasant time cut short. Before she knew it, the cold Dew[s] (14) had set in.
The imagery in this transcendent poem shines great light on some hidden similarities between life and
death. This poem exercises both the thoughts and emotions of readers. Eternity and Death are two
important characters in Dickinson s Because I could

Primary Equity Markets And Secondary Equity Market Essay
The stock market is divided in two different markets called the Primary Equity Market and the
Secondary Equity Market. Primary Equity Market: The primary market is used for offering new equity
issues. This market provides companies a way to generate new fund for the business purpose. Here,
the transaction is conducted between the issuer and the investor. For example, IPO is one way of the
primary market where a company sell stocks to the public for the first time. Capital can be raised in
primary market by following ways: 1. Public issue When a company raises funds by selling its shares
to the public through issue of offer document, it is called a public issue. It can be of two types: a.
Initial Public Offer b. Further public offer Initial Public Offer: When an unlisted company makes a
public issue for the first time and gets its shares listed on stock exchange, the public issue is called as
initial public offer (IPO). An IPO brings in new investors to a firm, which facilitates the firm s access
to future growth capital. Being public also reduces the costs of raising future capital by stimulating the
supply of information from the investment community. Further public offer: When a listed company
makes another public issue to raise capital, it is called follow on offer (FPO). Indian IPO Market
Several IPO mechanisms have been experimented in India. There are two options available for a firm
while undergoing IPO process fixed price and book building. Until

Analysis Of The Movie Demi Lovato Essay
After Leaving Disney, Demi Lovato has become one of pop cultures leading motivational figures.
Taking a stand and talking to Congress about un smearing mental illness. Singing songs about self
acceptance and openly discussing her struggles with bipolar disorder, bulimia, and substance abuse.
Lovato has become confident with the person she is now and hopes that by opening up about her
darkest time she can reach out to others who are fighting the same fight. At only 18 years old, Lovato
became overwhelmed with the work, popularity, and media attention she was attracting being a
successful actress, singer, song writer, and charity spokesperson. Being a pop star with problems
finally became obvious the summer of 2010, backstage after a concert, Lovato attacked one of her
back up dancers. She was sent to rehab where the truth was revealed that she had stopped eating
regularly, taken up drinking, drugging, self harm and purging. Lovato completed a three month course
at Timberline Knolls; an in patient treatment center, which specializes in helping women with eating
and mood disorders. After being released Lovato went on Good Morning America and discussed
everything that had happened, knowing her story was too public to hide. Even tweeting about rehab
and openly sharing the fact that she had been staying in a sober living facility. She put herself out
there in a way that was not about attention getting and more about self discovery. She explained how

Pros And Cons Of Creating The Budget
I was assigned to cut the budget for year 1 and year 2 by $750,000 (total of $1.5 million over 2 years)
by the CEO. I took a comprehensive look at the budget and my recommendations are that we should
cut the number of participants from 1000 to 910 and let go of 3 staff members. These reductions
would have a cascading effect and help us to cut the budgets of both years by 750,000 dollars.
I believe that the quality of our program is more important than the number of participants we serve.
Consequently, I propose to
decrease the number of participants by 9% (90 participants) for year 1 and year 2. This cut would
cause minimum harm to the program because we would be able to serve the other 910 participants
without decreasing services, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subsequently, helping us reach our desired program outcomes. The average cost of a certification is
$75 and for our initial budget, we assumed that half of the participants would get these certifications.
In our new budget, this ratio would be maintained, however as we have fewer participants, we would
only need to budget for 455 certifications decreasing our budget by $3,375 for year 1 and year 2.
Another important service that our program offers is background checks. These checks help increase
the number of placements and retentions. Our initial budget reflected that each background check
costs $50 and approximately half of the participants would require a background check. The new
budget for year 1 and year 2 would still maintain the same ratio but due to a decrease in participants,
we would only need to budget for 455 participants. This would help us cut the budget by $2,250 for
year 1 and year 2 without harming the program.
Career advisors are an essential part of our program. Career advisors transitional help participants
during their transitional employment, which is usually for the first 4 6 months of the program. My
recommendation would be to fire 2 of these advisors as this would allow us to decrease our budget by
$80,000 for year 1 and 2. Currently, these advisors serve 500 participants and their maximum
participants to staff ratio is 35:1. Our initial budget

1. Reflect on some concepts that you heard about loving God that challenged your thinking. How will
that impact your walk with Christ?
In training there was a comment that was made that struck my heart. Ministry can t ever take the spot
of investing in relationship with the Father. Relationship with Him is of upmost importance and I can
not let my identity come from anything but Him. I can always continue to grow and I need to make
sure I don t let the fact that I am doing ministry replace personal time with God. I can only give my
best self if I am taking care of myself, and that looks like remaining in closeness with the Father.

The Influence Of Moon Landing On The Moon
it seems that the fact that the american astrounat arrival on the moon holds some doubts on what
actually happened on july 26th 1969. in a way in order for the camera to focus on the moon and the
astrounouts surface and the (faint) stars in the backgroundwould do not show at all. the question is that
why werent there any stars in the sky? another argument is all about how in most of the photographs
the objects in the shadows cant be seen. for example in figure number 2 area k like one side of the
lunar module was covered by the shadow but the flag of the united states was completely highlighted
(illuminated).their have been theories that say that only explanation for this conspiracy is the different

No i don t think their any contradictions to my argument, there are people who believe that the entire
moon landing was THE GREATEST CONSPRACY OF ALL TIME But what would be the reason to
why they would doit ? what would be the reason to fake such a big event? one of the reasons could
have been that the government could have faked the moon landing but what could have been the
motivation to pull up such an elloborate hoax. some people might belive that the soviet union had
more of a chance to take control of the first celestial body , thats another to why the government could
have faked the moon landing.

Did Frank Morris And The Anglin Brothers Survive To Escape...
I believe that criminals, Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers, survived their attempted escape from
Alcatraz. There are many facts supporting that they died, for example, the man eating sharks that live
in the ocean surrounding the prison. However, it s been proven that there are no man eating sharks in
the waters. In 1934, a teenage girl, 2 ten year old kids, and fitness expert, Jack Lalanne, swam from
Alcatraz to the mainland. Although there is the possibility of hypothermia and drowning in the
conditions they were in.This proves that the swim wouldn t be too life threatening, especially if you

Student Loan Vs. Private Loan
In order to get ahead in today s society people must take a risk. That risk may include taking out
student loans in order to acquire the necessary degree for their wanted job. For some taking out
student loans in the only way to achieve their goal of going to college. There are many different types
of student loans that a person could qualify for, for example, a federal loan or private loan. No matter
what type of loan is being offered before someone should accept any type of loan and the
responsibilities that come along with it they should consider the positives and negative repercussions
that could occur. Often times people hear many negative things about student loans but there are a few
positive things about them. A student loan allows someone to attend college and further their
education which gives them benefits that they will be able to use later in life. The main benefit and
reason individuals go to college is to reach the goal of a higher education, greater employment
opportunities and solid earnings and student loans make that possible (Venable 2). It could also be a
positive thing depending on the amount a person borrows and terms they agree to pay it back. Having
student loans that are possible to make regular payments on is an opportunity to increase a person s
credit score allowing better financial opportunities, for example, being able to acquire a car loan,
business loan, or mortgage (Venable 2). Debt that is manageable is good debt and as long as the

Definition Of Drunk Driving
People often get confused with the different terms used to describe or classify drunk driving. The fact
is that there really is not much difference between them. Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and
Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are the same but some states use one term while another state uses
the other term. Some states use the term OUI which stands for Operating under the influence. All three
terms refer to the same offense of drinking while driving.
DUI is the most widely used term for drunk driving. DWI is less common but is used in New York,
Texas, and Missouri. OUI is more commonly used in the North eastern States including
Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. There are also other terms used by some states such as OWI
(Operating While Intoxicated), OMVI (Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated), DUII (Driving
under the influence of an intoxicant), DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired), and DWUI (Driving
While Under the Influence).
Drunk driving is a persistent problem on our roads today. In Kansas City especially, the prevalence of
drivers who act negligent and get behind the wheel while being intoxicated continues to increase.
Drunk driving incidents are especially observed during holidays such as Independence Day, St. Patrick
s Day and Cinco de Mayo. On St. Patrick s Day alone, police officers got 41 drunks out of 1300
vehicles that were checked. In 2016, there were 999 DUIs and this number did not include North KC,
Jackson County, and other nearby areas.

Sustainability In Bc
Sustainability means having a forest that benefits as many people as possible right now, but will also
be there to use in the future (cite). Sustainability is very important in B.C. as such a large portion of
the province is covered in forests. This also makes the forest industry very important economically.
These factors make sustainability of such a large forested land base very important for British
Columbia in the present and the future. The BC government has made impressive bounds towards
making its forests sustainable. With the efforts that BC s government is making, it has made

(BCFPD). The board oversees the activities of forest companies, their private contractors, and the
government on public land. The board audits randomly selected forestry companies to be audited for
compliance and enforcement with forest practice requirements, audits the enforcement of the
government forest practices requirements, addresses public complaints on forestry practices, and
conducts special investigations on forestry issues (mr113). All the work that the BCFPD does has led
to notable positive changes in BC forestry. Some of these positive changes include: Less disturbance
from logging, smaller cut blocks, better logging roads and proper maintenance, and more deactivation
of logging roads (mr113). While reports have noted these improvements, the board still believes that
there is room for improvement. Policies and changes are continually evolving to make BC s forest as

new policies for efficiency, more timber availability to smaller organizations, such as first nations or

The Debate Of Integrating Elements Of Orthodox Christian...
Orthodoxy, Orthopraxy, and Research Researchers face the challenge of integrating elements of
orthodox Christian theology and orthopraxy into the theoretical orientation of their research. To
maintain the integrity of the study, the research must exhaust ever effort to take themselves out of the
research, allowing the research to speak for itself. Biblical exegesis can influences one s research; a
researcher should acknowledge their assumptions, taking steps to mitigate them from the research.
Biblical Exegesis, Orthodoxy, Orthopraxy, and Research
One s level of biblical exegesis and interpretation influences one s believes and behaviors.
Woodbridge (2010) provides three elements of biblical exegesis: 1) the world of the writer, 2) world of
the original audience, 3) and the reader s perception of them. How individuals understand these three
aspects of a text shape their orthodoxy. Biblical exegesis is understanding what scripture meant for the
time and people that it was written to, once that is understood, individuals can make application into
the present world. One s orthodoxy does not always translate into orthopraxy; individuals think they
become an exception until their worldview changes (Mittwede, 2013). Orthodoxy must become ones
worldview in order to affect the orthopraxy of individuals. Biblical exegesis makes the connections
between orthodoxy and orthopraxy giving justification for both. Orthodoxy without Biblical exegesis
has no foundation except preferences

With the presidency established, a major discussion developed within the Constitutional Commission
over the powers of the institution. There were two basic alternatives a strong presidency with a

that a parliamentary model with elections based on proportional representation would facilitate the

The tropical fruit has emerged as a hot trend, with its nutritional components being promoted for
health or fitness reasons. Coconut water is advertised as a refreshing, electrolyte rich beverage suitable
for replacing sports drinks. Not to be confused with the far richer coconut milk, coconut water is a
clear liquid extracted from very young green coconuts. It s billed as nature s sports drink because like
Gatorade and other energy drinks, it contains water for rehydration, carbohydrates in the form of sugar
for energy, and electrolytes to replace what s lost through sweat.
In most cases, the best way to restore your body s fluids and electrolytes after exercise is simply with
water and food, particularly fruit. In cases of severe exertion or illness, however, a quick electrolyte
boost may be necessary. For those reluctant to consume sports drinks with all their added colors,
flavors, sweeteners and preservatives, nature has provided the perfect rehydrating drink and that is the
coconut water.

Changes The Rules Of The Game
Contrary to common wisdom, the absence of traditional leadership does not necessarily lead to chaos.
In fact, powerful groups seem to emerge filling the vacuum and changing the landscape of industry
and society. Decentralization has changes the rules of the game. What once was considered weakness
due to lack of structure and defined leadership and organization, has become a major force to reckon
with, often dealing major blows and defeating traditional centralized organization. Brafman and
Beckstrom likens the centralized organization to a spider that has eight legs and eight eyes. Cut off the
head and the whole organism dies. Similarly in centralized organization, do away with the
leader/leadership and such organization would languish and collapse. However, this is not the case
with decentralized organizations that are likened to a starfish. There are no heads or leaders to go after.
If you cut off one arm of the starfish, the organism can regenerate the lost arm and the severed arm
can also regenerate the whole organism as well. Like a starfish, attacking a decentralized organization
can lead to a magnified opposing push back. The authors dig into past anthropogenic history and
current economic phenomena for examples to shed light on the immense power that such
decentralized organizations wield. They also address how to spot and distinguish starfish
organizations, the importance of their core components, and strategies to defeat these organizations. In
late March 2005,

Milton Friedman s The Common Man s Freedom
Milton Friedman realized the importance of the common man s freedom. He believed that the
government had more power over the people and maintained all control over them. He knew that in
ordered for the political and economic freedom to work was to have a mutual agreement between
these parties. They had to come to an agreement, which would allow for mutual benefits. The
Hollywood Blacklist was an example given by Friedman to show the unfair treatment the government
enforced. Actors, musicians, directors, screenwriters and others who were part of the entertainment
business, were all denied jobs because they were accused to being part of the communist party. By
allowing individuals to freely chose other markets, suppliers or even make the good themselves,
individuals would ultimately be part of a free market. This social justice impelled states to have
political freedom because individuals were no longer scrutinized for their beliefs in order to find jobs.
John Stuart Mill was a well known utilitarian during his time. Mill eyed the community with suspicion
similarly to Bentham, who thought of a community as being fictitious. Mill argues that a state should
not restrict the freedom of speech for two reasons. One reason was because people s opinions are can
either true of false, but this depends on how much a question is debatable and left open for further
questioning. If people s judgments were always found fallible then how can we ever take any action?
One example was the

Altruism In Species
Today, the world is broken up into individual communities, where different cultures practice different
behaviors. Additionally, there are many different types of communities embedded in this world, some
of which rely on competition and individual ambition for success, and some that are more communal
and support the idea of putting the group before yourself. So why is altruism a universal behavior?
The concept of altruism in species has become one the most controversial scientific subjects since the
first hypothesis was made on species behavior. Some scientists believe that there is a genetic and
evolutionary component that drives species to behave altruistically, and others believe it is simply an
unexplainable phenomenon. Throughout the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, both Humans and these small primates practice cooperative responsibility for their
young, and this lead some scientists to believe that this cooperation was responsible for altruistic
behaviors. Therefore, a group of researchers from Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy and Great
Britain were lead by anthropologist Judith Burkart who developed a new model of group service in
which they were able to study spontaneous selfless behavior that is consistent with more types of
primates. The researcher s study was done to see if individuals from a certain primate species were
willing to provide other group members with a treat, even if that meant they would not get one. They
tested twenty four groups of fifteen different species of primates. The second part of the study tested if
4 7 year olds acted altruistically. As expected, the researchers found that the propensity to care for
others outside of your own genetically related family greatly varied between each of the primate
species. More surprisingly, both humans and callitrichid monkeys consistently provided the other
group with their treat and therefore acted the most altruistic; however, what caught the researchers
attention was that when they studied the chimpanzees, a close relative to humans, they very rarely
behaved selflessly, as did most of the other primate species like the capuchins and macaques groups,
even though they are regarded as having high cognitive skills. Before the study was conducted, the
researchers assumed that altruistic behavior demonstrated by primates could be ascribed to
characteristics they share with humans, like strong social bonds, high cognitive skills, large brains,
and high social tolerance; however, Burkart s research shows that sharing these qualities does not in
fact predict how altruistic a species will behave. Nevertheless,

Everyday Use Essay
Everyday Use, a short story about the trials and tribulations of a small African American family
located in the South, is an examination of black women s need to keep their powerful heritage. It
speaks on multiple levels, voicing the necessity and strength of being true to one s roots and past; that
heritage is not just something to talk about but to live and enjoy in order for someone to fully
understand themselves. A sociological landmine, it was written to awaken the concepts of feminism as
well as the civil rights movement, while being able to focus on just three women and their relationship

Battle Of Persian Sea Essay
Tyre were able to harass the Macedonians. The Tyrians knew they had to take an offensive action.
They took action by using their superior war ships and used an old horse ship filled with combustibles,
lit it on fire, and rammed it against the bridge burning their work. Macedonians tried to put out the fire
but were killed or forced to flee due to warships coming filled with archers. Alexander s anger grew
far worse and stayed persistent. He sent out twice as many engineers to work on the bridge as they
headed north along the coast. He went back to the recently captured cities Byblus and Sidon. He
gathered a fleet from both cities and other cities such as Ionia and his homeland, Macedonia. He

He conquered Egypt and other major cities such as Babylonia and Elam. As he returned north,
Alexander knew it was time to head east and finish his Persian campaign (S. 2008). The battle of the
Persian Gate is the most significant. He wanted to invade Persia propery before winter started. This
was easy because the Royal Road, a Persian road used for trading and other political reasons,
connected Elam and Persepolis. The roads were split through the mountains in modern day Haftgel.
Parmenion was to take the Royal Road and Alexander took the most dangerous road through the
Zagros Mountains. Alexander massacred the Uxians tribe and no one dared to challenge the
Macedonian army. Soon Alexander crossed the Marun River, the boarder of Elam and Persis, and
reached to a plain. The Macedonians prepared to cross the Persian Gate to reach the city of Persepolis.
Persepolis is very important because if Alexander were to capture it, the rest of the empire would too.
However, Persian satrap, Ariobarzanes, was aware of the move and prepared his counter attacks
(2016). Callisthenes, who kept Alexander s diary, wrote that Alexander had tens of thousands of
soldiers, but since he took the most difficult passage, he took the strongest troops. The opposing army
were 1,000 1,200 men strong. Ariobarzanes was the Persian s last stand. Ariobarzanes was severely
out numbered. Although the Persian archers had a geographical advantage,

The Assassin Bug
The comparison between me or any other creature of the animal kingdom in reference to me as a

consistent thirst for a meal is but a mere reflection of my thirst for knowledge. The means of attack as
to which it deploys are quick as well as painless which falls into the nature as to how I accomplish my

Examples Of Procedural Safeguards
According to Nancy Chi Cantalupo, writer in the University Chicago Law Journal, twenty to twenty
five percent of college women are victims of attempted or completed nonconsensual sex (Burying Our
Heads 207). In October 2014, an eighteen year old freshman at Old Dominion University was sexually
assaulted. She reported her case to the ODU Police Department where she was treated as a suspect
rather than a victim (Jane). The university police department denied this young woman of many things
such as a medical examination right away, food, drinks and even did not allow her to use the bathroom

The local police department can be a mentor to the university police department. They can help train
in trauma skills as well as investigative skills. It is important to know how to investigate a person with
little skepticism, because during trauma the too much skepticism can turn a person away. It is already
difficult for a victim to go and report a crime because it requires them to relive that dreadful moment
again, and that is why some victims are scared to go to local police department, but this can happen
with the university police as well. In the ODU vs Jane Doe case she was interrogated with much
skepticism, which had results such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, and weight loss (Jane). On the
other hand, if you investigate the victim like there is no chance at all that they could be lying than that
leave the accuser hopelessly and they could be innocent. The accused sometimes go to the university
expected to already be guilty before even presenting their side. Nancy Chi Cantalupo, writer in Journal
of College and University Law, acknowledges in Decriminalizing Campus Institutional Responses to

rights are lost. Due to the matter that universities cannot enforce criminal laws, they are not required

School Lunch Essay
Skipping Dessert
When I was younger, I vividly remember the vast amount of delicious food that was offered every day
in my school lunchroom. The food that I use to describe as good food, I am beginning to undoubtedly
recognise for the unhealthy junk that it actually is. There are countless others who also notice how
horrible these foods are to feed children in school cafeterias. Today, those same cafeterias are
tremendously different from the ones I remember from when I was little, and they are always
continuously changing. The amount of options we are offered have not lessened, they have simply
changed. Instead of having the option to purchase nachos, we now are given the option of baked fries.
Also, instead of having a dessert of an innutritious brownie, we now are given a large variety of sweet
fruits to choose from instead. While some students distinguish these changes as a catastrophe, I can
understand the importance of having students skip dessert during a school lunch. Allowing the NSLP
to regulate what is served in school lunches would help parents trust that their children would be
getting healthier foods at school, help to combat the epidemic of obesity and malnutrition in the
United States, and assist in educating children on healthy diet choices.
In the article School Lunches , the author discusses whether or not the government s National School
Lunch Program (NSLP) should be allowed to regulate what is served in school lunches. The NSLP is a

Negative Essay On Capitalism
he reason this is important to know is because the system of Communism when heavily analyzed is
also at the same time heavily flawed when put to practical use. To an extent, to have there be no class
construct is impossible to pull of when coming from a Capitalistic system. As a systematic way of life
it educates and unearths flaws of a society, such as worker exploitation, money laundering and bribery.
But past that it s impossible to implement in any large society that is part of the global market such as
China. Capitalism heavily favors the self, making individuals self motivated to do remedial tasks in
order to have some form of possession. If you remove both the individual and the material aspect from
the citizens in the society then they have little to no motivation to do anything without a reward or
sign of improvement. Sooner or later this due to the inherent flaw of humans in a society will cause
the same systems that were exposed to happen all over again. The second main issue of Communism
is that when looked at closely, there is no end, if analyzed closely there is always some sort of Master
Student dichotomy in all societies. Students learn from teachers, children learn from parents, works
listen to a supervisor for coordination, citizens listen to military and the people listen to the active
party. No matter how many times you can reform a state these things will always exist to properly
function as a country. Specifically to China, this is no different, and

THE EFFECTS OF INDUSTRIAL CAPITALISM
Adam Smith argued that Individuals who were allowed to pursue rationally their own economic self
interest would benefit society as well as themselves (Sherman Salisbury, 2008, p.187). This argument
helped industrial capitalism grow in the 19th and 20th centuries. Industrial capitalism affected the
bourgeoisie and the working class. Although the bourgeoisie gained money and power, the working
class suffered through poor working conditions.
The bourgeoisie, also known as the middle class, gained money and power as the industrial capitalism
got stronger. They consisted of merchants, tradesmen, and professionals. In the middle class, the men
worked outside the home to support their families, while the women stayed at home to take ... Show

In addition, the children obtained a mere fraction of that pay. Therefore, factories employed women
and children more often than men. The owners even created contracts with orphanages to hire cheap
child laborers to save money (Sherman Salisbury, 2008, p. 277).
In the 19th century, industrial capitalism began to gain more power in the form of monopolies.
Rockefeller s Standard Oil Trust was one of these monopolies. His company destroyed smaller and
weaker oil companies to become a larger corporation.
On May 15, 1911, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the Standard Oil Cartel was a
menace to the Republic and ordered it to be broken up:
For the safety of the Republic we (U.S. Supreme Court) now decree that the dangerous conspiracy
must be ended by Nov. 15, 1911 (John D. A Portrait in Oils, p. 154).
Rockefeller vowed revenge against the U.S. and used his vast fortune to BUY the U.S. government.
The breakup of the Standard Oil monolith resulted in about 37 new companies. Rockefeller still
secretly controlled them all by owning a voting majority of stock in the new corporation. Thus
Standard Oil would be known as Standard Oil New Jersey (Exxon), Standard Oil New York (Mobil),
Standard Oil Indiana (Amoco), Standard Oil California (Chevron), Atlantic Refining (Arco) etc., etc.

Living with constant pain can be debilitating and it can be a huge detriment in one s life. Chronic pain
can impair an individual s ability to participate in almost every day life regimes. Research has shown
that chronic pain negatively impacts an individual s ability to maintain social connections (Lennon,
Link, Marbach, Dohrenwend, 1989), employment and ability to undertake activities of daily living
(Andersson, 1999). Chronic pain is significantly related to a range of mental health difficulties, as well
as reduced subjective well being. A meta analysis of chronic pain research suggests that there is an

a method that was established for the purpose of enabling health care professionals to pass on their

Chemical Reaction Of Mentos
The scope of this paper is to explain the reaction that takes place when Mentos are dropped into Diet
Coke. This experiment is used frequently because of what happens when the candy meets the soda. A
geyser is formed that shoots out of the bottle that resembles a volcanic eruption. Due to the similarity,
it is also used for volcano projects. Depending on the alterations to the Mentos and/or Diet Coke, the
geyser can either go much higher or much lower than normal.
This reaction has produced much confusion among people about whether it is a physical or chemical
reaction. It is a physical reaction because the substances remained the same, the reaction did not form
a new substance. (Coffey) What creates the physical reaction is water molecules that go into the pores
on the Mentos. The rough surface of Mentos allow this to happen. The water molecules grow to create
carbon dioxide bubbles on the outside of the candy. The Mentos gain buoyancy, which means they rise
to the surface of the soda. After this occurs, there is increased bubble formation, resulting in the liquid
turning to foam and shooting out of the bottle. Bubble formation is also increased by the gum arabic
and gelatin in the Mentos combining with the potassium benzoate, sugar, and aspartame in the Diet
Coke. (Hiskey, Mental Floss)
As stated above, there are alterations that speed the reaction. These include decreasing the surface
tension of the Diet Coke, performing an acid base reaction, and warming the Diet Coke.

Marvell are seduction poems, written by the poets to seduce their mistresses. Both have three stanzas
and a basic couplet rhyming structure. Donne and Marvell are metaphysical poets from the 17th

union. They have made philosophical poems about simple facts of life for example, the fear of death

The flea is the subject of much of what the poet talks about, and the imagery used is interesting. He

used often, and to great effect. Different images are used to persuade the poet s mistress that to sleep
with him would be a good thing.
In stanza 1 of The Flea we see as the poet begins by trying to convince his mistress with the idea that
sex is not an important thing. He claims that the flea has already mixed their blood, after he bit them,
so they re already together in that way, And in this flea our two bloods mingled be. In this stanza, the
poet has taken a firm, instructive manner the first line reads Mark but this flea and mark in this . This
is an instruction, which tells us how the poet is feeling: confidant, sure and certain. He describes what
she is denying him as little , which follows with his persuasive argument to her that sex is a small
unimportant thing. There is an image of pregnancy as Donne describes the flea as pamper d swells
with one blood made of two . Here is talking about what could happen if they did have sex; but
reading it from the angle of a biting flea, giving it a seedy almost repulsive edge. This stanza is

Merchant Of Venice Stereotypes
Anti semitic is defined as having hostility or prejudice against Jews. The Merchant of Venice exhibits
both of these themes. The Merchant of Venice, a play written by William Shakespeare in 1596 follows
Antonio, a Christian merchant, and Shylock a Jewish banker. Their journey starts when Shylock and
Antonio make a deal. Shylock loans Antonio three thousand ducats, in return, Antonio needs to pay
Shylock back in three months or Shylock gets to cut off a pound of flesh from Antonio s body.
Throughout this play, Jewish people are stereotyped as wanting to kill Christians and are treated very
poorly because of their religious beliefs.

They treated them as if they were inferior. For example, Jessica and Launcelot are arguing whether
Jessica would go to heaven. She says to Launcelot, I shall be saved by my husband; he hath made me
a Christian (3.5. ). Jessica is saying that she will go to heaven because she converted to Christianity in
order to marry her husband. Launcelot and Jessica s argument shows that only Christians can go to
heaven. Another example of this is when Antonio says to Shylock, I am as like to call thee so
again,/To spet on thee again, to spurn thee too (1.3.456 457). Antonio is saying that he has treated
Shylock poorly in the past, and he will do it again. Antonio does not like Shylock because he is
Jewish. Shakespeare also reflects anti semitic behavior through a character named Lancelot. Lancelot
is a Christian who does not like working for Shylock. He says, I should stay with the Jew my master,
who, God bless/ the mark! is a kind of devil; and, to run away from the Jew, I should/ be ruled by the
fiend, who, saving your reverence! is the devil/ himself (2.2.585 587). Lancelot is debating with
himself on whether he should flee with Lorenzo and Jessica or stay and work for Shylock. Lancelot
says that Shylock is the devil, therefore he leaves. Shakespeare is showing that even Christians who
weren t wealthy disliked jews. In conclusion, The Merchant of Venice shows how anti semitic the
Elizabethans were to those who had a different religion than them. Shakespeare shows this perspective
through the characters of Antonio, Lancelot, and Portia. In contrast with this, Shakespeare also argues
in support of the people the Elizabethans dislike. He shows this perspective through Shylock and
Morocco and how they want to be treated with respect. This play is still important today because there
are still people today who are

Most humans resist the idea of stepping directly into the things that frighten them. Of course, there are
some things that warrant fear and deserve avoidance action (crime, fire, hurricanes, etc). But those are
things we don t tend to encounter regularly in our daily lives (hopefully).
Fear, none the less, is often present and yet not always warranted. If you are reaching beyond your
comfort zone, you ll likely feel afraid. That does NOT mean, you shouldn t reach. You should always
reach.
Here are some specific strategies you can use to take that fear and turn it into freedom, financial
freedom or personal freedom.
1. Do the scariest thing on your to do list the first thing in the morning
This will free you up immediately. Even if you don t get the result you wanted, just the fact that you
confronted your fear and took action will build your confidence and allow you to tackle other things
on your list that will now feel easy and breezy.
2. Ask your inner guidance what the fear is trying

Hanno Research Paper
The white elephant, a gift from the King of Cochin to Manuel, was an albino a trait as exceedingly
rare in elephants as in humans. After being shipped from Cochin to Lisbon, the elephant named
Hanno, possibly anglicized version of the Malayalam word for elephant, aana was packaged up for his
journey to Rome. Although Hanno was accompanied by forty three other exotic animals, he was
clearly the star of the show.
Upon reaching the Vatican, Hanno proceeded to stun the papal court and steal Leo s heart in a grand
procession, in which he danced to pipe music and performed tricks with his trunk. Manuel s
magnificent present charmed the entire city, inspiring poetry and verse about the king s great
generosity. Aurelio Sereno, a poet in the Holy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Let us enjoy the papacy since God has given it to us Pope Leo X
As the second son of Lorenzo the magnificent of the fabled Medici family, Leo was brought up in
opulence and splendor. Medici family was reported to be have been the richest family in medieval
Europe. It should come as no surprise when Leo continued with the sumptuous lifestyle at his new
home in Rome.
As one contemporary put it, the pontiff was by nature given to ease and pleasure with an overweening
grandeur, (Adams). He adored beautiful clothes and dressing in rich, jewel encrusted brocade robes.
Castello Sant Angelo, Emperor Hadrian s magnificent mausoleum was the favored setting for staging
his parties and other festivities. At his banquets, typically twenty or more courses would be served
with each of them announced by the sound of trumpets. Some of the meats included peacocks, a calf,
and a boar, and they were all arranged in natural postures and brought out on trays.( Bonner Mitchell,

  • 2. Essay on Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop for... Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop for Death Emily Dickinson s Because I could not stop for Death is a remarkable masterpiece that exercises thought between the known and the unknown. In Dickinson s poem, Because I could not stop Death, there is much impression in the tone, in symbols and in the use of imagery that over flow with creativity. One might undoubtedly agree to an eerie, haunting, if not frightening, tone and use of symbolism in Dickinson s poem. Dickinson uses controlling adjectives slowly and passed to create a tone that seems rather placid. For example, We slowly drove He knew no Haste / ...We passed the School ... / We passed the Setting Sun (5,9,11,12), sets a slow, quiet, and clam ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first site We passed was the School, where children strove (9). Because it deals with an important symbol, the Ring this first scene is perhaps the most important. On this invited journey, one vividly sees Children playing. Laughing and singing. This scene conveys emotions and moods through verbal pictures. The imagery in the final scene, We passed the Setting Sun (12) is very emotional. One can clearly picture a warm setting sun, perhaps, over a grassy horizon. The idea of a setting sun, aftermath a fact of slumber in a cold dark night. When Dickinson passed the Setting Sun, night drew nigh and it was time to go home and sleep. Symbolically, her tour of life was over; it was now time for Eternity death. While sight seeing in the carriage, one can gather, by the setting of the sun, that this ride was glimpse of life flashing before her eyes; just as said to happen before you die. Lines 14 and 15 seem to support this idea. The dews drew quivering and chill / For only Gossamer, my Gown (14 15). This indicates a pleasant time cut short. Before she knew it, the cold Dew[s] (14) had set in. The imagery in this transcendent poem shines great light on some hidden similarities between life and death. Primary Equity Market: The primary market is used for offering new equity issues. This market provides companies a way to generate new fund for the business purpose. Here, the transaction is conducted between the issuer and the investor. For example, IPO is one way of the primary market where a company sell stocks to the public for the first time. Public issue When a company raises funds by selling its shares to the public through issue of offer document, it is called a public issue. It can be of two types: a. Initial Public Offer b. Further public offer Initial Public Offer: When an unlisted company makes a public issue for the first time and gets its shares listed on stock exchange, the public issue is called as initial public offer (IPO). An IPO brings in new investors to a firm, which facilitates the firm s access to future growth capital. Being public also reduces the costs of raising future capital by stimulating the supply of information from the investment community. • 6. Pros And Cons Of Creating The Budget I was assigned to cut the budget for year 1 and year 2 by $750,000 (total of $1.5 million over 2 years) by the CEO. I took a comprehensive look at the budget and my recommendations are that we should cut the number of participants from 1000 to 910 and let go of 3 staff members. These reductions would have a cascading effect and help us to cut the budgets of both years by 750,000 dollars. I believe that the quality of our program is more important than the number of participants we serve. Another important service that our program offers is background checks. These checks help increase the number of placements and retentions. Our initial budget reflected that each background check costs $50 and approximately half of the participants would require a background check. The new budget for year 1 and year 2 would still maintain the same ratio but due to a decrease in participants, we would only need to budget for 455 participants. • 24. Changes The Rules Of The Game Contrary to common wisdom, the absence of traditional leadership does not necessarily lead to chaos. In fact, powerful groups seem to emerge filling the vacuum and changing the landscape of industry and society. Decentralization has changes the rules of the game. What once was considered weakness due to lack of structure and defined leadership and organization, has become a major force to reckon with, often dealing major blows and defeating traditional centralized organization. Brafman and Beckstrom likens the centralized organization to a spider that has eight legs and eight eyes. Cut off the head and the whole organism dies. Similarly in centralized organization, do away with the leader/leadership and such organization would languish and collapse. However, this is not the case with decentralized organizations that are likened to a starfish. There are no heads or leaders to go after. If you cut off one arm of the starfish, the organism can regenerate the lost arm and the severed arm can also regenerate the whole organism as well. Like a starfish, attacking a decentralized organization can lead to a magnified opposing push back. The authors dig into past anthropogenic history and current economic phenomena for examples to shed light on the immense power that such decentralized organizations wield. They also address how to spot and distinguish starfish organizations, the importance of their core components, and strategies to defeat these organizations. In late March 2005, ... • 25. Milton Friedman s The Common Man s Freedom Milton Friedman realized the importance of the common man s freedom. He believed that the government had more power over the people and maintained all control over them. He knew that in ordered for the political and economic freedom to work was to have a mutual agreement between these parties. They had to come to an agreement, which would allow for mutual benefits. The Hollywood Blacklist was an example given by Friedman to show the unfair treatment the government enforced. Actors, musicians, directors, screenwriters and others who were part of the entertainment business, were all denied jobs because they were accused to being part of the communist party. By allowing individuals to freely chose other markets, suppliers or even make the good themselves, individuals would ultimately be part of a free market. This social justice impelled states to have political freedom because individuals were no longer scrutinized for their beliefs in order to find jobs. John Stuart Mill was a well known utilitarian during his time. Mill eyed the community with suspicion similarly to Bentham, who thought of a community as being fictitious. Mill argues that a state should not restrict the freedom of speech for two reasons. One reason was because people s opinions are can either true of false, but this depends on how much a question is debatable and left open for further questioning. If people s judgments were always found fallible then how can we ever take any action? One example was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Altruism In Species Today, the world is broken up into individual communities, where different cultures practice different behaviors. Additionally, there are many different types of communities embedded in this world, some of which rely on competition and individual ambition for success, and some that are more communal and support the idea of putting the group before yourself. So why is altruism a universal behavior? The concept of altruism in species has become one the most controversial scientific subjects since the first hypothesis was made on species behavior. Some scientists believe that there is a genetic and evolutionary component that drives species to behave altruistically, and others believe it is simply an unexplainable phenomenon. Furthermore, both Humans and these small primates practice cooperative responsibility for their young, and this lead some scientists to believe that this cooperation was responsible for altruistic behaviors. Therefore, a group of researchers from Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy and Great Britain were lead by anthropologist Judith Burkart who developed a new model of group service in which they were able to study spontaneous selfless behavior that is consistent with more types of primates. The researcher s study was done to see if individuals from a certain primate species were willing to provide other group members with a treat, even if that meant they would not get one. They tested twenty four groups of fifteen different species of primates. The second part of the study tested if 4 7 year olds acted altruistically. As expected, the researchers found that the propensity to care for others outside of your own genetically related family greatly varied between each of the primate species. More surprisingly, both humans and callitrichid monkeys consistently provided the other group with their treat and therefore acted the most altruistic; however, what caught the researchers attention was that when they studied the chimpanzees, a close relative to humans, they very rarely behaved selflessly, as did most of the other primate species like the capuchins and macaques groups, even though they are regarded as having high cognitive skills. Before the study was conducted, the researchers assumed that altruistic behavior demonstrated by primates could be ascribed to characteristics they share with humans, like strong social bonds, high cognitive skills, large brains, and high social tolerance; however, Burkart s research shows that sharing these qualities does not in fact predict how altruistic a species will behave. They took action by using their superior war ships and used an old horse ship filled with combustibles, lit it on fire, and rammed it against the bridge burning their work. Macedonians tried to put out the fire but were killed or forced to flee due to warships coming filled with archers. Alexander s anger grew far worse and stayed persistent. He sent out twice as many engineers to work on the bridge as they headed north along the coast. He went back to the recently captured cities Byblus and Sidon. He wanted to invade Persia propery before winter started. This was easy because the Royal Road, a Persian road used for trading and other political reasons, connected Elam and Persepolis. The roads were split through the mountains in modern day Haftgel. Parmenion was to take the Royal Road and Alexander took the most dangerous road through the Zagros Mountains. Alexander massacred the Uxians tribe and no one dared to challenge the Macedonian army. Soon Alexander crossed the Marun River, the boarder of Elam and Persis, and reached to a plain. The Macedonians prepared to cross the Persian Gate to reach the city of Persepolis. Persepolis is very important because if Alexander were to capture it, the rest of the empire would too. • 31. School Lunch Essay Skipping Dessert When I was younger, I vividly remember the vast amount of delicious food that was offered every day in my school lunchroom. The food that I use to describe as good food, I am beginning to undoubtedly recognise for the unhealthy junk that it actually is. There are countless others who also notice how horrible these foods are to feed children in school cafeterias. Today, those same cafeterias are tremendously different from the ones I remember from when I was little, and they are always continuously changing. The amount of options we are offered have not lessened, they have simply changed. Instead of having the option to purchase nachos, we now are given the option of baked fries. Also, instead of having a dessert of an innutritious brownie, we now are given a large variety of sweet fruits to choose from instead. While some students distinguish these changes as a catastrophe, I can understand the importance of having students skip dessert during a school lunch. Allowing the NSLP to regulate what is served in school lunches would help parents trust that their children would be getting healthier foods at school, help to combat the epidemic of obesity and malnutrition in the United States, and assist in educating children on healthy diet choices. • 32. Negative Essay On Capitalism he reason this is important to know is because the system of Communism when heavily analyzed is also at the same time heavily flawed when put to practical use. To an extent, to have there be no class construct is impossible to pull of when coming from a Capitalistic system. As a systematic way of life it educates and unearths flaws of a society, such as worker exploitation, money laundering and bribery. But past that it s impossible to implement in any large society that is part of the global market such as China. Capitalism heavily favors the self, making individuals self motivated to do remedial tasks in order to have some form of possession. If you remove both the individual and the material aspect from the citizens in the society then they have little to no motivation to do anything without a reward or sign of improvement. Sooner or later this due to the inherent flaw of humans in a society will cause the same systems that were exposed to happen all over again. The second main issue of Communism is that when looked at closely, there is no end, if analyzed closely there is always some sort of Master Student dichotomy in all societies. Students learn from teachers, children learn from parents, works listen to a supervisor for coordination, citizens listen to military and the people listen to the active party. In the 19th century, industrial capitalism began to gain more power in the form of monopolies. Rockefeller s Standard Oil Trust was one of these monopolies. His company destroyed smaller and weaker oil companies to become a larger corporation. On May 15, 1911, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the Standard Oil Cartel was a menace to the Republic and ordered it to be broken up: For the safety of the Republic we (U.S. Supreme Court) now decree that the dangerous conspiracy must be ended by Nov. 15, 1911 (John D. This experiment is used frequently because of what happens when the candy meets the soda. A geyser is formed that shoots out of the bottle that resembles a volcanic eruption. Due to the similarity, it is also used for volcano projects. Depending on the alterations to the Mentos and/or Diet Coke, the geyser can either go much higher or much lower than normal. This reaction has produced much confusion among people about whether it is a physical or chemical reaction. It is a physical reaction because the substances remained the same, the reaction did not form a new substance. (Coffey) What creates the physical reaction is water molecules that go into the pores on the Mentos. The rough surface of Mentos allow this to happen. The water molecules grow to create carbon dioxide bubbles on the outside of the candy. The Mentos gain buoyancy, which means they rise to the surface of the soda. After this occurs, there is increased bubble formation, resulting in the liquid turning to foam and shooting out of the bottle. Bubble formation is also increased by the gum arabic and gelatin in the Mentos combining with the potassium benzoate, sugar, and aspartame in the Diet Coke. Different images are used to persuade the poet s mistress that to sleep with him would be a good thing. The Merchant of Venice, a play written by William Shakespeare in 1596 follows Antonio, a Christian merchant, and Shylock a Jewish banker. Their journey starts when Shylock and Antonio make a deal. Shylock loans Antonio three thousand ducats, in return, Antonio needs to pay Shylock back in three months or Shylock gets to cut off a pound of flesh from Antonio s body. Throughout this play, Jewish people are stereotyped as wanting to kill Christians and are treated very poorly because of their religious beliefs. For example, Jessica and Launcelot are arguing whether Jessica would go to heaven. She says to Launcelot, I shall be saved by my husband; he hath made me a Christian (3.5. ). Jessica is saying that she will go to heaven because she converted to Christianity in order to marry her husband. Launcelot and Jessica s argument shows that only Christians can go to heaven. Another example of this is when Antonio says to Shylock, I am as like to call thee so again,/To spet on thee again, to spurn thee too (1.3.456 457). Antonio is saying that he has treated Shylock poorly in the past, and he will do it again. Antonio does not like Shylock because he is Jewish. Shakespeare also reflects anti semitic behavior through a character named Lancelot. Lancelot is a Christian who does not like working for Shylock. He says, I should stay with the Jew my master, who, God bless/ the mark! is a kind of devil; and, to run away from the Jew, I should/ be ruled by the fiend, who, saving your reverence! is the devil/ himself (2.2.585 587). Shakespeare is showing that even Christians who weren t wealthy disliked jews. In conclusion, The Merchant of Venice shows how anti semitic the Elizabethans were to those who had a different religion than them. Shakespeare shows this perspective through the characters of Antonio, Lancelot, and Portia. In contrast with this, Shakespeare also argues in support of the people the Elizabethans dislike.
