Cultural Diversity
The ways in which diversity can impact on work and work relationships and benefits to diversity.
Another advantage of workplace diversity is the opportunity for personal growth, being exposed to
new ideas, cultures and perspectives can help individuals to reach out intellectually and gain a clearer
view of their surroundings and their place in the world, spending time with culturally diverse co
workers can slowly break down the subconscious barriers of ethnocentrism encouraging employees to
be more well rounded members of society. Spending time with diverse employees can break down
communication barriers over the long term, but first impressions and co workers orientation periods
can be difficult to control when cultures clash, diversity can strengthen your company s relationships
with specific customer groups by making communication more effective.
the need for inclusivity, cultural safety and cultural competence
Culturally Inclusive Environment A culturally inclusive environment requires mutual respect, effective
relationships, clear communication, explicit understandings about expectations and critical self
reflection. In an inclusive environment, people of all cultural orientations can: Freely express who
they are, their own opinions and points of view. Fully participate in teaching, learning, work and
social activities. Feel safe from abuse, harassment or unfair criticism. A culturally inclusive workplace
means that: Staff experience less stress and have

How Could Magnetically Levitated Trains Relieve the...
Introduction
Transportation is one of the most essential spheres of human s life in such aspects as economic
growth, communication, tourism, and utilization of space. Thence, it is very important for it to have
minimal effect on the environment, be safe, cheap, comfortable, and fast in use. Conventional
transport, such as trains and airplanes, causes a number of problems including air pollution, high
amounts of energy consumption, huge need of maintenance, high prices, and risks of safety, thus not
being efficient enough. Therefore, new generation of transport must correspond to definite
requirements: be efficient, reliable, and environmentally sound. The technology of the new kind of
transport magnetically levitated trains could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, according to Figure 2, the amount of CO2 increases with the rise of speed. Conventional
trains are also not efficient in economic aspect, since there is a demand for constant maintenance
(Figure 1), such as periodic replacement of gear, wheels, rails, etc., which may lead to huge financial
expenses. Figure 1. Comparison of Maglev and Wheel On Rail Systems. Source: H. W. Lee, Kim, and
J. Lee 2006, 1917. Figure 2. The Energy Consumption of a Train Calculated for Different Speeds and
its CO2 Emissions per Passengers. Source: Garcia, 2010, 41.
Air transport is constructed to be faster and more convenient than trains, however there are also
several burdens that are associated with airplanes. The most important aircraft problem is vast fuel
utilization European Commission 2009 indicates that airplanes have huge CO2 emission 51.5 gram
per passenger kilometer. In addition, serious risks of safety usually worry people, for instance, there is
a recent loss of Boeing 777 airplane with all the passengers, which is usually considered to be very
safe, and still cannot be found (Ranter 2014). Airplanes are also very dependent on weather
conditions, as can be seen on Figure 3, number of delays lead to considerably high financial expenses
more than 7 billions in 2012. Figure 3. Annual and Per Minute Cost of Delays to U.S. Airlines.

Eskimo Mothers Campaign Analysis
In order to solidify the First Nations place as designated outsiders in their own homeland (8) the press
had to show how Indigenous people become the other when compared to the white settlers of Canada.
In comparison to the white setters presumed racial superiority, the media would use headlines and
stories that evoked images of Indians as dependent children. One specific instance of this is the federal
government s poster campaign to instruct the Eskimo mothers about how to use their newly awarded
family allowance funds by the Department of National Health and Welfare (148). This campaign
created a standard that, despite being mothers and raising children in this land for generations, the
Inuit mothers were not capable of providing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Louis Riel 1885 North West Resistance, the press used their influence to shape the
narrative as an event fated to occur because, as the Gazette reported, it was inevitable that the red
skins would become the reckless, murderous devils which nature has made them in their native
conditions... [and] sooner or later it was inevitable that the red skins would make an effort to regain
control of the country, massacre and pillage the settlers (67). This description paints a picture of First
Nations as unable to escape an almost animalistic urge to kill and destroy that is engrained in their
very sense of self. In the press coverage of the 1885 Resistance, we can also see the close ties between
the use of the savage stereotype and the childlike Indian. Although the press called for Riel to hang for
his crimes against Canada, the Metis were described as the poor misguided half breeds whom Riel
swindled and bullied (67) which portrays them as lacking the ability to stand up for themselves and
the maturity to resist

Heat By Mike Lupa Summary
The book I read this month is called Heat. The author Mike Lupica did a really good job writing this
story. Heat is about a boy named Mike and his brother Carlos, and how they find their way to live
without any parents. Mike is probably the best pitcher on the Clippers, and in the league. Then a kid
named Justin s dad, the coach of the Giants had it out to get him out of the league. Just to help his
team make it to the Little League World Series. Mike just dealt with it for a while, until he got back in
the league, and got to pitch in the series.
To my Miguelito, he said. May the next time we are all together be on the day when he pitches himself
and his proud papi to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. (Lupica ... Show

This choice impacted the book by letting you read it in Mike s shoes. He also let you feel how Mike
felt. Because if you close your eyes you can picture every bit off the book because of all the sensory
details Mike Lupica used. For instance when Mike was the third base coach he called the fake bunt,
and told the kid to swing Mike Lupica wrote Wham!!! That made me feel like I was there and could
hear the sound of the ball being whaled off of the bat. That is just one example out of the rest of the
really good details Mike Lupica used in the book. I recommend this book to someone that likes
baseball or somebody that likes to read about sports. I chose this recommendation because the book is
about baseball. Also somebody that likes lovey dovey books won t like this book. I said this because
this has nothing even remotely close to this. I rate this book a 10 out of 10. My reason for choosing the
rate I did was that this was a great book. Heat was the best book I have ever read. I think I liked it a lot
because it was about baseball, and I love everything about baseball. Mike Lupica used so many
details, and it made me just want to keep reading. He also used so many hooks during the book, and I
got to the point where I couldn t put the book down. I liked the book the most during the second

Hannukah
There are many holidays, secular and religious to chose from. Before deciding on your favorite one,
you have to think about what makes a good holiday. First, a good holiday has tradition. Remembering
past holidays and stories about how the holiday originated make a holiday memorable. A good holiday
also has to have lots of fun. Having fun during a holiday makes it a great break from regular life. The
last aspect that makes a holiday great is soothing the problems of daily life with family time. Enjoying
what you love with those you love is a great feeling. Based on this criteria, I feel the best holiday is
the Jewish holiday of Hannukah. One of the best parts of a holiday can be the tradition and stories
around it. Hannukah is the celebration

Pompeii Report
In Italy, there is a little place called Pompeii. Pompeii is a great place to go on vacation there is a lot of
very neat things to see. The beginning of the presentation on Pompeii began with pictures of the great
tourist sites along with some background information on the city. The city of Pompeii was burned
under ash in a massive eruption in 1780. It was founded by the Oscan people with a population around
20 thousand people. The question asked was why does this matter? Why should people know about
this? They are three main reason why people should know about the City of Pompeii. Through this
presentation, I learned the life of the people of Pompeii, what the early Christianity was up against,
and finally the remains of the city and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The presentation on Pompeii was given by presenter Joel Pless. Presenter Pless did a great job
presenting on Pompeii he used multiple tools of communication to keep his audience engaging and
interesting to listen to. Presenter Pless used visuals, storytelling, humor, written outline and
questioning. Visuals like maps of Italy and the city of Pompeii were presented using a PowerPoint.
The presenter also showed pictures that he took himself when he toured Pompeii. The fact that the
pictures were taken himself really made the presentation more credible and relatable. Presenter Pless
told stories about his experience of touring Pompeii. Through this presentation, I felt like I was on the
tour and presenter Pless was my guide. From the stories and the visuals, I was able to stay engaged
through the entire presentation. By using humor presenter Pless was able to keep the presentation
serious, but also fun. My favorite statement was when he said, Papa Murry s love at 425. Lastly by
having a outline handed out before hand it made the presentation easy to follow and kept the presenter
orderly and organized. The outline was divided up in three sections; volcano, venue, and victims of
Pompeii. Having each section of the presentation divided up I was able to take very detailed notes and
gather my thoughts in an organized fashion. In conclusion, the presentation was very informative and
was presented very professionally to all audience members. Hard work was put into this presentation
and presenter Pless presented the information

Different Types of Fact Tables
Dimension
A dimension table typically has two types of columns, primary keys to fact tables and
textualdescreptive data.
Fact A fact table typically has two types of columns, foreign keys to dimension tables and measures
those that contain numeric facts. A fact table can contain fact s data on detail or aggregated level.
Types of Dimensions
Slowly Changing Dimensions: Attributes of a dimension that would undergo changes over time. It
depends on the business requirement whether particular attribute history of changes should be
preserved in the data warehouse. This is called a Slowly Changing Attribute and a dimension
containing such an attribute is called a Slowly Changing Dimension. Rapidly Changing Dimensions:

Non Additive:
Non additive facts are facts that cannot be summed up for any of the dimensions present in the fact
table.Eg: Facts which have percentages, ratios calculated. Factless Fact Table: In the real world, it is
possible to have a fact table that contains no measures or facts. These tables are called Factless Fact
tables .
Eg: A fact table which has only product key and date key is a factless fact. There are no measures in
this table. But still you can get the number products sold over a period of time.
Based on the above classifications, fact tables are categorized into two:
Cumulative:
This type of fact table describes what has happened over a period of time. For example, this fact table
may describe the total sales by product by store by day. The facts for this type of fact tables are mostly
additive facts. The first example presented here is a cumulative fact table.
Snapshot:
This type of fact table describes the state of things in a particular instance of time, and usually
includes more semi additive and non additive facts. The second example presented here is a snapshot
fact table.

John J. Mearsheimer s Five Types Of Lying
Lying, a five letter word that is naturally connected to most politicians and leaders. How does this
assumption come to be? And what causes them to be perceived in this manner? When a leader wants
to get something accomplished, especially when it comes to International relations, they must
consciously think of ways to persuade their followers into siding with them. The first thought that
most naturally comes to their mind is, how am I going to persuade or coax the general public into
siding with them on a particular issue and what tools do they have in accomplishing this goal? Is it
really for the benefit of the nation or for a politician s self shish motives. These are the types of
inquires that John J. Mearsheimer fields in his book, Why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such as, what is the author s concept of lying, to the view he looks at lying with, and if something isn t
definitively a lie, then what is it? Let s start by focusing on what the author considers to be a lie. A lie
according to Mearsheimer is, when a person makes a statement that he knows or suspects to be false in
the hopes that others will think it is true. (Mearsheimer 16) This is a pretty good definition, but
looking at from a rhetorical standpoint, what then is truth? Because in order for something to be
considered a lie, there has to be an opposite of truth to it. This idea of truth according to Nietzsche is
an attempt to make the unreal appear as real (Nietzsche), which is essentially lying to someone. This
bases of truth must come from a more moral position. Are politicians really moral enough to be
concerned with truth? Now, that the author has established what he considers to be a lie, let s shift to
what view he thinks of lying with. Mearsheimer observes lying with, a strictly utilitarian view .
(Mearsheimer 10) So, the author is viewing the topic from a completely practical view, in other words
a fully sophist interpretation. This shows why he is open to international lying, as sometimes a
necessary act. This act in a governmental setting according to the Roochnik article, states that,
political life is contingent happenstance. (Roochnik 236) Meaning that political

Jfk Inaugural Address Analysis
On January 20, 1961, John Fitzgerald Kennedy gave his inaugural address in front of thousands of
anticipating Americans. Fear and uncertainty was imbedded in the minds of all Americans as the Cold
War neared its climax. The United States were also struggling with racial tensions and social
inequalities, leading into the presidential election of 1961. With severe consideration for the ongoing
national and international turmoil, President Kennedy sought to invoke a sense of unity in the
American people. Furthermore, Kennedy=s inaugural address uses pathos to flatter and influence the
emotions of the people, without distracting from the truth and evidence expected from a national

produced cartoons, live action, comedy, drama, music, sports and game shows. In 1996 it was the
most popular kid s TV channel in the US. The international channels had their own names, but relied
on US programs that were voiced over. The channels were launched by a team from corporate the

Swan s enthusiasm and philosophy of open communication and ownership of tasks had brought the
Nickelodeon team together. Latin America was very segmented. Regional dialects, customs and
languages needed required attention. Rey del Valle was brought in from Fedex to help keep the
network on budget. Even though he had no experience in entertainment, Swan was particularly
concerned with the bottom line. With this move, and others, money was being spent on gambles but
the reasoning behind them was well informed. Investments in quantitative and qualitative studies were
recommended by Del Valle, further aligning them with their immersive business strategy.
The sharing of employees between Nickelodeon and MTV in Latin America was an immediate
obstacle for Swan. Early, sharing Viacom employees was the only option to have a support staff for
Nickelodeon Latin America. The extreme differences between the networks confused the
advertisement and sales departments. Viacom employees were being asked to sell two networks
instead of one, without being given extra incentive to do so. Swan has approached this obstacle by
sharing her enthusiasm for Nickelodeon with the Viacom staff via her Growing Down meetings. The
important childhood culture was communicated in the meetings along with their marketing that
included the Ayuda tu Mundo (Help your

According to the Globe and Mail, as of 2013, 23% of Canadian Companies offered employees the
option to telecommute. A Statistics Canada study stated that in 2000, 1,425,700 respondents worked

availability of technology, the desire of today s workers to have a better work life balance, and the
desire of companies to attract employees. In today s work technology is increasing at a rapid pace, and
much of it is more accessible than before. An example that has been changed by both of these factors

America s Old Growth Forests are an endangered resource that is quickly disappearing. The ancient
forests are being unnecessarily wasted, and are growing smaller and smaller with each passing

Because the logging industry and the organizations in control of much of the remaining old growth

According to the United Nations, at least 37.5 million acres of rainforest is harvested annually.
Despite the relatively small areas of land the rainforests cover, they are home to nearly half of the 5 10
million plant and animal species on the planet Earth (Brown, 1998). Many of these are indigenous
species that scientists feel may be the key to the development of new medicines which may ultimately
lead to cures for some of the world s most terrible diseases. Furthermore the rainforests are the lungs
of our planet, without which life would not be possible, and while it s true that younger trees do in fact
produce more net oxygen than do mature trees, much of the rainforest is not being replanted, and
therefore the destruction taking place there is permanent. For this reason; it is no longer acceptable to

Importance And Importance Of Entrepreneur
Entrepreneurship refers to the act of investing in productive capital and assuming risk for productive
ventures. An entrepreneur is an individual who purchases factors of production and combines them to
produce consumable output. Entrepreneurs are distinguished from capitalists who rent out capital to
entrepreneurs and workers, who sell their labor to entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs are indispensable to
the functioning of any economy. Entrepreneurs grow economies by creating new output, increase
efficiency in economies, allocate society s resources efficiently, and serve consumers and job seekers.
The foremost importance of the entrepreneur to the economy is the creation of new output. At any
given point in a society, production is stagnant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Entrepreneurs are continuously looking for ways to generate profits. An incidental consequence of this
permanent quest for profits is the fact that economies gradually become efficient as entrepreneurs
discover more efficient ways to turn out goods and services. In any industry, entrepreneurs will adopt
the best production methods available to stay competitive and therefore profitable. However, the
competitive pressures of the market push entrepreneurs toward innovation. Innovation involves a
broad gamut of actions. Most notably, entrepreneurs will strive to improve existing technology, to
make their production endeavors less costly. Improving on existing technology enables an
entrepreneur to generate greater profits by cutting his production costs, and therefore undercutting his
competitions (Sowell, 2001; Mankiw, 2014). Soon enough, however, his competitors also adopt his
new production methods depriving him of the advantage he initially had. As a result, the entrepreneur
must constantly be looking for methods to do things more efficiently than his competition.
Improvements in technology and production methods benefit the whole of society. Foremost,
improved efficiency reduces the marginal costs of production, resulting in lower prices for consumers.
Consumers are therefore able to purchase greater volumes of goods and services for the same amount

digital computer were developed between 1940 and 1945 in the United States and in the United
Kingdom. They were gigantic, originally the size of a large room, and also need to be supply a large
amount of power source which is equivalent as several hundred modern personal computers. The
history of computer hardware covers the developments from simple devices to aid calculation, to
mechanical calculators, punched card data processing and on to modern stored program computers.
The tools or mechanical tool used to help in calculation are called calculators while the machine

UNIVAC 1 was created to process data like Herman Hollerith s tabulator over 50 years before,
however UNIVAC 1 was then manufactured for other users and become the world s first large scale

the late 1930s and the early 1950s. Not all of them were invented by the mathematician or physician.
Among those machines were pioneering computers put together by english academics notably
Manchester/Ferrenti Mark 1, built at Manchester University by Frederic Williams and Thomas
Kilburn. And the EDSAC, Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator built by Maurice Wilkes at

flew inside machines and caused a short circuit. In order to create more advance computer, would

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nop Phone Service
37
Chapter 8
Advantages
VoIP phone service providers o er many advantages to the residential and small oce/home oce
user. If you have a high speed internet connection then choosing a VoIP phone service might be right
for you.
1. Low Cost :
This technology leads to greater nancial savings. This happens because there exists only one
network carrying the voice and video provided by only one supplier. If you have a broad band Internet
connection (DSL or cable), you can make PCtoPC phone calls anywhere in the world for free. If you
wish to make a PC to phone connection, there s usually a charge for this but probably much cheaper
than your regular phone service. You can pay as you go or you can sign up with a VOIP service
provider and pay a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Low Taxes :
Since the calls are being carried over the Internet, governments have not heavily taxed VoIP phone
services. Compare that to your local telephone bill (go ahead and take a close look) and you will see
you are spending quite a bit on taxes each month. Therefore, choosing a
VoIP provider could add up to signi cant savings for you and your family.
3. Portability :
One important concept to understand about VoIP is that unlike its forefathers (lets call them
PSTN for now), it is not distance or location dependent. As far as VoIP is concerned, you could be
calling your supplier 1,000 miles away in Indonesia or calling your business partner on the other end
of town, and it doesnt make any di erence at all, in terms of connectivity and cost. You can make and
receive phone calls wherever there is a broadband connection simply by signing in to your VoIP
account. This makes VoIP as convenient as email if you are traveling, simply pack a headset or
Internet phone and you can talk to your family or business associates for almost nothing.
4. No extra cables, no extra cost :
A VoIP phone number, unlike your regular phone number, is completely portable. Most commonly
referred to as a virtual number, you can take it with you anywhere you go.

The Factors Affecting Breathing Rate And Lung Capacity
Recall the hypothesis of the factors affecting breathing rate and lung capacity was one s vital capacity
was affected by the surrounding. Since there was no primary information about breathing rate and
vital capacity of another subject, online resources would be used. From the internet source, an average
17 years old female s vital capacity was 3.1L, which surprisingly Jeannie had a higher vital capacity
rate. Therefore, the hypothesis was proven to be not so true. However, when Jeannie s breathing rate
compared to the average, it showed that Jeannie had a higher breathing rate, which showed that the
hypothesis was not completely wrong.
There were a bucket of factors that might be at play, for instance current health condition, medical
history, smoking habits, connections with second hand smokes, frequency of exercise, and living
environment, etc. all these were the factors contribute to a person s vital capacity. As it was mentioned
above, current health condition was a crucial part of the experiment at that moment, as the instant
result would be used to construct the lab report. Medical history was another concern, it was important
to learn more about the subject past medical history and predict the outcome of the experiment.
Smoking habits and second hand smokes were the important factors of the experiment as tar would
not be filtered and it would coat alveoli directly, affecting the breathing rate. The vital capacity of a
smoker and a non smoker could be distinguished

The Campaign And Its Mechanism Within Confronting Extremism
Findings
The campaign was conducted on more than 3,500 electronic dialogues with the people who visited the
forum. Fifty percent of visitors are from Gulf Cooperation Council state, thirty percent of Arab
nationalities, and twenty percent from Europe and America. The results indicated that 40% of holders
of deviant thought left their deviant ideas; sixty percent of holders of deviant thought left the most
serious terrorist ideas during the past seven years. After scrutinizing more than 3.500 documented
dialogue across the Web, with visitors from 107 countries around the world, we can say that the result
is a strong indicator of the success of the campaign at local and global level. This is according to the
evidence from the expert of policy and law at Harvard University Dr. Stern reviewed in his article
Sakinah Campaign and its mechanism in confronting extremism. As well, a report submitted to the
Congress praised the efforts of the Kingdom in the fighting extremist thought, and the experience of
Sakinah Campaign as a model for treatment and intellectual confrontation (Al Bader, 2006).
Recommendations
There are some suggestions that may be useful in combating and reducing terrorism, along with

The Home Improvement Industry
The U.S. kitchen renovation market reached $17 billion in 2005. Growth in this market was at an all
time high in the mid 2000s, but the economic recession in 2008 also led to a slowdown in this sector.
Research indicated that approximately 75 percent of kitchen remodeling projects were done through
professionals, while 25 percent were completed by homeowners themselves. Most of the DIY projects
were undertaken by lower income homeowners who could not afford to hire professional service firms
(see Exhibit 1 for a breakdown of source of kitchen remodeling services by income). Major kitchen
remodeling projects cost anywhere between $40,000 and $80,000, depending on the choice of
materials (see Exhibit 2 for details on trends in kitchen remodeling costs).
The home renovation industry was highly fragmented; nearly 30 percent of the industry consisted of
private, local companies who reported less than $100,000 in revenue annually.2 The industry included
professional companies, divisions within home stores, small local companies, and independent
contractors. Small companies and independent contractors had

Comparing Aristotle s 8
Now the question is what values should one have to rule, what makes them qualified compared to
others. Plato outlines the different aspects of government and why he believes an aristocracy would be
better form of government. In book 8 Socrates starts to wrap up his depiction of a just city. He starts to
break down the four unjust constitutions of the city and man. Timocracy, which is represented by the
honor driven man who resembles and rules that sort of government. There is an oligarchy, ruled by a
man driven by his necessary appetites. Democracy, in which the man is controlled by unnecessary
appetites. And finally there is tyranny, which the man is driven by unlawful appetites. Socrates

In book 9 Plato discusses the aspects of the tyrannical man. He mentions that the tyrants are someone
who is consumed by lawless desires. One question I have is the tyrannical man destined to be a tyrant
because he has a noble democratic father? These desires lead men towards ghastly, shameless,
criminal actions that are particularly bad for someone in an position of power. Socrates offers an
example of a lawless desire is the desire to sleep with one s mother, something that is horrible to do in
any society. It is made clear that all of us have lawless desires, which is indubitably true. The proof is
that these desires occasionally come out at night, in our dreams, when the rational part of us is not on
guard. But only the tyrannical man allows these desires to emerge in life while he is awake during the
day. Plato s description continues, the tyrannical man is the son of the democratic man. His father is
not lawless, but he does indulge unnecessary desires. Just like the father, the son is exposed to drones,
men with lawless desires. However the father had his own oligarchic father s thriftiness to pull him
toward the middle road of democracy. This is crucial for the balance one must have to be a ruler in
society. Now this son brought up on the democratic ethos, moves further toward lawlessness. The
father and entire household try to win him back, but the ultimate triumph of the lawless is inevitable.

Secular Power In Dantes Inferno
We begin in the 14th century, at the start of the Italian Renaissance. From 1308 to 1320, Dante
Alighieri began and completed his Divine Comedy, a three part poem entailing his visionary journey
through the realms of Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise. It intertwines aspects of Roman Catholic doctrine
with Classical philosophy and contemporary politics, all in the dialect of Florence. He wrote this for a
myriad of reasons, ranging from the inspiration of his muse to the politics of late 13th century
Florence. The biggest political concern at the time was the struggle between church and state for
secular power. The pope, along with other characters from Florentine politics, are represented in Hell,
or the Inferno. Dante incorporates many references

Wuthering Heights Vs Thrushcross Grange
Many plays and novels use contrasting places. In Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte sets the novel
around Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, two neighboring houses on the Yorkshire Moors
in England. Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange are two different places with completely
different characteristics and vibes.
Wuthering Heights is home to Heathcliff, Catherine, Hindley, and Nelly. Wuthering Heights gives off
a more rebellious, free spirited vibe. It has a more country feel compared to Thrushcross Grange.
Wuthering Heights lacks hospitality and comfort. The people in Wuthering Heights represent more
wild, rebellious characters. Heathcliff and Catherine are great examples of this free spirited, wild, and
rebellious characters in how they run off together and just the way they live their lives, especially
when they were younger before Catherine married Edgar and moved to Thrushcross Grange. The
characters in Wuthering Heights also represent a more middle to lower class household compared to
the lavish life lived at Thrushcross Grange. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Charlotte s passion in driving emancipation was not only portrayed through her storytelling, but also
her quilts. The black triangles sewn onto the quilt represent freedom and blackbird wings. This
obviously was such a big part in Handful s life as well because later in the novel when she sews a quilt
for Denmark Vesey, the same black triangles that her mother had sewn years before were symbolized
again. At the end of the novel when Handful and Sky escape, they take Charlotte s original quilt with
the wings on it to the North with them. Handful also references hearing the blackbird wings as she
escapes to the north at the end of the novel. There are two unambiguous themes that the book center
around: friendship and equality. As a reader, both of these themes encapsulate the reader as the novel
progresses and almost allow the reader to have a personal connection with the characters. Unlike other
novels that only show positives and joyful experiences, Handful and Sarah experience a roller coaster
of a friendship because of their differing backgrounds. Both of these characters must overcome their
own issues, which sometimes created distance and heartache between the two. In part one of the
novel, Handful talks about a pure love between her and Sarah and it shows their innocence as children
and the friendship that they both had: People say love gets fouled by a difference big as ours. I

Night Reflection
After going through a traumatic event, we usually gain a hatred for the person(s) that may have caused
it, or acted the events out. It changes us as a person and affects our whole well being, sometimes
transferring who we used to be, maybe even making less compassionate and changing our outlook of
the world. In Elie Wiesel s, Night, we watch as Eliezer goes through brutal events and attempts to
remain faithful to God and his Father, and he only slightly succumbs to the lack of compassion of the
other prisoners, towards the end, as he loses hope but soon regains it after he is saved. Before leaving
his home, Eliezer was a very religiously devoted boy, even going against his father s wishes and
studying Jewish oral law with a pauper, Moshe. One evening, I told him how unhappy I was not to be
able to find in Sighet a master to teach me the Zohar...And Moishe the Beadle, the poorest of the poor
in Sighet, spoke to me for hours on end about the Kabbalah s revelations and its mysteries, thus began
my initiation (Night 4). Eliezer s father had told him he was simply not old enough the study the
Zohar, but he knew deep down that he was ready and found his own master to help him with his
studies, showing his faithfulness in his religion. He was also emotionally attached to his faith, as he
was questioned whenever he would cry during his prayers. Later in the book, after being in the camp
for a while, a questioning of his religious faith comes into play, Never shall I forgot those

A Picture Of The Gulag Labor Camps
In keeping silent about evil, in burying it so deep within us that no sign of it appears on the surface,
we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousand fold in the future. When we neither punish nor
reproach evildoers, we are not simply protecting their trivial old age, we are thereby ripping the
foundations of justice from beneath new generations. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn said in his impactful
narrative that paints a picture of the Gulag labor camps in Soviet Russia through personal experience,
eyewitness testimony and interviews, and primary research material. Solzhenitsyn is describing the
silence that survivors of the Gulag were forced to exhibit after staring terror and fear directly in the
face during their time in the Gulag. The silence Solzhenitsyn is describing, is claimed to be one of the
reason the Gulag is often not given the attention in history books and in the forefront of our minds that
the Gulag deserves. The Gulag is believed to be one of the most horrible and inhuman acts of the 20th
century, yet western society tends to shy away from mentioning the Gulag when discussing tragedy.

the horrible tragedy it was and the impact that this silence has had, not only on the survivors, but also
the impact it has had on Russia and its society as a whole.

Analysis Of Pariah, Directed And Written By Dee Rees Essay
LGBT is an initialism that stands for lesbian, gay, bi sexual, and transgender. It is intended to highlight
a diversity of sexuality and gender identity based cultures. Historically, LGBT people have had to deal
with being brutalised and misunderstood because of the misconception that being gay is different and
deserves different treatment. However, there are efforts being made daily by the community in order
to educate people and ease their fears. The purpose of the following analysis is to deconstruct how
people who fought back while growing up realizing they are apart of community help shaped and/or
will shape them to become strong roles for LGBT people around the world.
In this paper, I will examine how women of color who deal with the lack of acceptance growing up
because of their lesbianism help shape and/or will shape them to be future role models for LGBT
people around the world. I will be using the coming of age drama, Pariah, directed and written by Dee
Rees, as a primary source in order to argue how the cinematography in this film portrays Alike being
the epitome of embracing one s sexuality. I chose this film because it reminded me of a similar story
that touched me in the form of a book written by Audre Lorde called Zami: A New Spelling of My

Glass Ceiling Thesis
Abstract
The glass ceiling is an expression used to describe the unseen barrier preventing women and other
minorities from reaching the top executive levels. This problem solution research paper represents the
allegations argued by the critics of the glass ceiling accentuating on the reasons why women are not
able to reach top positions, such as lack of time and family responsibilities. However, it also
represents ways to shatter the glass ceiling such as offering formal educations for women, helping
women with dual roles, and applying proactive recruitment. It is based on several studies and

Plastic And Ocean Pollution
Plastic and plastic based products have turned the American society into a single use, throw away
lifestyle (Eriksen, 154). Due to the introduction of plastic to everyday life, it has become a main
source of pollution and liter to the Earth. Whether it is on the side of the road, being collected in large
masses such as in landfills, or located in the depths of our oceans, plastic has integrated itself into our
environment as well as our society. However, no one environment sees the most impact from plastic
pollution than our waterways and oceans. Plastic waste can enter the ocean a multitude of different
ways such as through illegal offshore dumping, storm water drainage, lost fishing equipment,
overflowing during high volume rain events, improper or lack of sewage treatment of water, or simply
by blowing off of piers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ocean pollution can be found floating in large, island like patches in the middle of the ocean or
washed up on beaches, local and uninhabited. Plastic pollution can be found at the surface of water or
in the deep depths of the ocean, going as far down as the ocean floor (Seltenrich, A36). Due to its
negative buoyancy, most all plastic will begin to sink after entering the ocean. This becomes an issue
because it is very difficult to account for how much plastic is truly in the ocean when most plastic
counting assessments do not test ocean water lower than a few feet of the ocean s surface. When
scientists do not have a clear depiction of exactly how much plastic is in the ocean, it is very difficult
to combat against its effects or understand how to fix the problem.
Ocean pollution can be separated into two different categories: large plastic and microplastics. Large
plastic can be anything from nets, buoys, or ropes used and forgotten by fishermen, to glass, plastic
bags and rubber used by the everyday Americans (Eriksen, 154). This plastic can be described as the
more visual type of pollutant. This type of plastic is also very

One Hundred Victories by Linda Robinson
In the book, the author makes it clear that executing counterinsurgency in Afghanistan is a difficult
task for Special Forces operators. She explains that the commanding officers knew these operations
would be a challenging feat. For instance, the author details Major General Scott Miller s efforts to
expand the Afghan Local Police initiative to the rural areas of Afghanistan. Major General Miller felt
that the same approach that was taken in the cities would not work in the rural areas. In other words,
the Afghan local policemen by themselves were not sufficient to bring peace to rural Afghanistan, and
the country had to be stabilized from the village up (Robinson 2013, 26). In this instance, the book
demonstrates the Generals knowledge and awareness of the situation in the region. That is to say, the
only capacities for dispute resolution and law enforcement in much of the country consist of village or
tribal councils and mullahs who administer a crude interpretation of Sharia (Rubin 2007, 76). Both the

veterans if they were dishonorably discharged. Furthermore, the number still appears to be much
greater than previous wars veterans including the Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans with estimates of
over 200,000 Vietnam veterans committing suicide (Lester,

Air transport is constructed to be faster and more convenient than trains, however there are also several burdens that are associated with airplanes. The most important aircraft problem is vast fuel utilization European Commission 2009 indicates that airplanes have huge CO2 emission 51.5 gram per passenger kilometer. Eskimo Mothers Campaign Analysis In order to solidify the First Nations place as designated outsiders in their own homeland (8) the press had to show how Indigenous people become the other when compared to the white settlers of Canada. In comparison to the white setters presumed racial superiority, the media would use headlines and stories that evoked images of Indians as dependent children. One specific instance of this is the federal government s poster campaign to instruct the Eskimo mothers about how to use their newly awarded family allowance funds by the Department of National Health and Welfare (148). This campaign created a standard that, despite being mothers and raising children in this land for generations, the Inuit mothers were not capable of providing ... • 5. Heat By Mike Lupa Summary The book I read this month is called Heat. The author Mike Lupica did a really good job writing this story. Heat is about a boy named Mike and his brother Carlos, and how they find their way to live without any parents. Mike is probably the best pitcher on the Clippers, and in the league. Then a kid named Justin s dad, the coach of the Giants had it out to get him out of the league. Just to help his team make it to the Little League World Series. Mike just dealt with it for a while, until he got back in the league, and got to pitch in the series. To my Miguelito, he said. That made me feel like I was there and could hear the sound of the ball being whaled off of the bat. That is just one example out of the rest of the really good details Mike Lupica used in the book. I recommend this book to someone that likes baseball or somebody that likes to read about sports. I chose this recommendation because the book is about baseball. Also somebody that likes lovey dovey books won t like this book. I said this because this has nothing even remotely close to this. I rate this book a 10 out of 10. My reason for choosing the rate I did was that this was a great book. Heat was the best book I have ever read. I think I liked it a lot because it was about baseball, and I love everything about baseball. Mike Lupica used so many details, and it made me just want to keep reading. Having fun during a holiday makes it a great break from regular life. The last aspect that makes a holiday great is soothing the problems of daily life with family time. (Mearsheimer 16) This is a pretty good definition, but looking at from a rhetorical standpoint, what then is truth? Because in order for something to be considered a lie, there has to be an opposite of truth to it. This idea of truth according to Nietzsche is an attempt to make the unreal appear as real (Nietzsche), which is essentially lying to someone. This bases of truth must come from a more moral position. Are politicians really moral enough to be concerned with truth? Now, that the author has established what he considers to be a lie, let s shift to what view he thinks of lying with. Mearsheimer observes lying with, a strictly utilitarian view . (Mearsheimer 10) So, the author is viewing the topic from a completely practical view, in other words a fully sophist interpretation. The Factors Affecting Breathing Rate And Lung Capacity Recall the hypothesis of the factors affecting breathing rate and lung capacity was one s vital capacity was affected by the surrounding. Since there was no primary information about breathing rate and vital capacity of another subject, online resources would be used. From the internet source, an average 17 years old female s vital capacity was 3.1L, which surprisingly Jeannie had a higher vital capacity rate. Therefore, the hypothesis was proven to be not so true. However, when Jeannie s breathing rate compared to the average, it showed that Jeannie had a higher breathing rate, which showed that the hypothesis was not completely wrong. There were a bucket of factors that might be at play, for instance current health condition, medical history, smoking habits, connections with second hand smokes, frequency of exercise, and living environment, etc. all these were the factors contribute to a person s vital capacity. As it was mentioned above, current health condition was a crucial part of the experiment at that moment, as the instant result would be used to construct the lab report. Medical history was another concern, it was important to learn more about the subject past medical history and predict the outcome of the experiment. Smoking habits and second hand smokes were the important factors of the experiment as tar would not be filtered and it would coat alveoli directly, affecting the breathing rate. Plato outlines the different aspects of government and why he believes an aristocracy would be better form of government. In book 8 Socrates starts to wrap up his depiction of a just city. He starts to break down the four unjust constitutions of the city and man. Timocracy, which is represented by the honor driven man who resembles and rules that sort of government. In book 9 Plato discusses the aspects of the tyrannical man. He mentions that the tyrants are someone who is consumed by lawless desires. One question I have is the tyrannical man destined to be a tyrant because he has a noble democratic father? These desires lead men towards ghastly, shameless, criminal actions that are particularly bad for someone in an position of power. Socrates offers an example of a lawless desire is the desire to sleep with one s mother, something that is horrible to do in any society. It is made clear that all of us have lawless desires, which is indubitably true. The proof is that these desires occasionally come out at night, in our dreams, when the rational part of us is not on guard. But only the tyrannical man allows these desires to emerge in life while he is awake during the day. Plato s description continues, the tyrannical man is the son of the democratic man. His father is not lawless, but he does indulge unnecessary desires. Just like the father, the son is exposed to drones, men with lawless desires. However the father had his own oligarchic father s thriftiness to pull him toward the middle road of democracy. This is crucial for the balance one must have to be a ruler in society. Now this son brought up on the democratic ethos, moves further toward lawlessness. The father and entire household try to win him back, but the ultimate triumph of the lawless is inevitable. At the end of the novel when Handful and Sky escape, they take Charlotte s original quilt with the wings on it to the North with them. In Elie Wiesel s, Night, we watch as Eliezer goes through brutal events and attempts to remain faithful to God and his Father, and he only slightly succumbs to the lack of compassion of the other prisoners, towards the end, as he loses hope but soon regains it after he is saved. She explains that the commanding officers knew these operations would be a challenging feat. For instance, the author details Major General Scott Miller s efforts to expand the Afghan Local Police initiative to the rural areas of Afghanistan. Major General Miller felt that the same approach that was taken in the cities would not work in the rural areas. In other words, the Afghan local policemen by themselves were not sufficient to bring peace to rural Afghanistan, and the country had to be stabilized from the village up (Robinson 2013, 26). In this instance, the book demonstrates the Generals knowledge and awareness of the situation in the region. That is to say, the only capacities for dispute resolution and law enforcement in much of the country consist of village or tribal councils and mullahs who administer a crude interpretation of Sharia (Rubin 2007, 76).
