Patriarchy and male domination is the phenomenon s which is most common in Asian societies. Male

Discrimination in India. In her book The God of Small things she has written the story which is the
reflection of male dominated society and how female are exploited by male during the centuries. The
God of Small things is the clear example of the argument where she has shown that women and
children are dependent to male but male are enjoying certain rights which women cannot enjoy those.
Male domination started from family only which spread in the whole society, according to her in any
critical situation women is the first group who is going to give sacrifice. As per Arunthati Roy: The
attack on every kind of livelihood, the attack on land, all of this affects women fundamentally. (Naqvi,

How To Discover Yourself Essay
Are you going to discover yourself?
By the time highschool ends, most teenagers don t really know what they want to do. They re
confused, disoriented, and unsure. They re not even really certain why they re applying to college in
the first place. Sure, there s the kids that knew what they wanted to be from age 5 (usually it s the
future doctors) Some are also lucky enough to inherit a family business. But for most 17 18 year old s,
life beyond high school is a cloud of uncertainty. They have some things they enjoy, hobbies and
activities they do. But suddenly having to choose a possible life long occupation? Just picking of the
bat is too much for most. So they re told to discover themselves, find out what they like to do. And

Decline of Union Membership Essay
Organized labor has seen a long and ever changing history in the United States. What began as
minimal organized labor movement catapulted into astronomical union membership rates as the nation
grew and developed. The intense power unions possessed only lasted so long and in the years since
1970, union membership in the United States has collapsed. This paper will examine the most
significant reasons for the decline in membership. In brief, organizational redesigns, the development
of technology and substantial public policy changes have all contributed to the drop in affiliation rates.
In addition, policy suggestions will be provided in an attempt to support the continuation of the trend.
Much of the research regarding this topic refers to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1913, Congress created the United 3 State Department of Labor as a direct result of pressure from
organized labor (MacLaury). Shortly after the creation of the Department of Labor, the Great
Recession hit the nation. With the depression came an increased unemployment and lesser wages
however significant legislation was also created during that time that impacted union membership.
The most significant law was the Fair Labor Standards Act. Following shortly after this FLSA, the
United States amended the Equal Pay Act and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Occupations
Health and Safety Act of 1970. Although these acts were supported by the power of unions, these acts
in particular impact union membership which will be discussed later in the paper. It was at this time in
the nation s history that unions began to see a decline in membership. Unions today cast a wide
umbrella of membership and consist of trade unions such as the International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers and the Laborers International Union of North America to service unions such as
the United Food and Commercial Workers. Although their membership has declined, unions that were
once affiliated with a defined group skilled labor employees now can be found in almost any industry
representing any group of employees. There is significant data that tracks union

performance over a period of time. The management applies the ratios to check on the effectiveness of
the strategies they employed. On the other hand, the owners and shareholders use the financial ratios

applied to compare the company s performance with its competitors. The financial ratios include
current ratio, operating profit margin, return on assets, return on equity and debt to equity ratio. To this

Sacagawea s Impact On The Lewis And Clark Expedition
Sacagawea s help on the Lewis and Clark Expedition Makes it a Success All across America people
know the name of Sacagawea, the Indian interpreter for the Lewis and Clark expedition. Sacagawea
was known for being the only woman on the expedition, but many people may not know all the
reasons as to how she survived being the only woman. She became strong through all of the events
that happened to her. Sacagawea, the only woman on the Lewis and Clark expedition, survived
because of events that happened to her at a young age and because of her good interpreting skills.
Sacagawea, also known as Bird woman, was the daughter of a Shoshone chief( A Fine Boy ).
Sacagawea s tribe, the Shoshone, was a very poor tribe(Patrick, Mcgrath). She was born in either 1788
or in 1789(Patrick, Mcgrath). Sacagawea was captured by the Hidatsa Indians at the young age of 12
and she was also raised by them( A Fine Boy ). Because she was the daughter of an Indian tribe, she
made the expedition a success and was able to accompany Lewis and Clark on their return back to
their own country(Fisher,Doris,pg 14). The expedition may not have been a success without the
courage and the knowledge of Sacagawea(Kelly, Stephanie,p 9). Sacagawea got married when she

and the coyote. They also got rewarded some land in the end. Clark was offered 1,000 acres by
Congress and Lewis was offered 1,600 acres. Lewis refused because he said that he had promised
Clark that they would get an equal amount of reward. So after Lewis made this argument, Congress

Disadvantages Of Designer Babies
The term designer babies arouses both excitement and fear worldwide; most envision a future where
the intellect, health, and physical traits of a child can be chosen on demand, without realizing that
designer babies are actually already among us. According to Dr. Ronald Pang, a post doctoral fellow at
the University of Hong Kong, the term designer babies encapsulates both babies who were selected
for a specific gene by preimplantation genetic diagnosis and those whose embryos were genetically
modified before implantation (Pang). This paper will focus on the former type of designer babies:
those created by preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). In contrast to genetically modified
embryos, PGD does not alter DNA and instead selects an embryo for the presence of a specific gene.
PGD is offered by 74 percent of in vitro fertilization clinics, but is still a controversial technology due
to its various applications including disease diagnosis, trait selection, and sex selection (Davis). Upon
considering two major concerns surrounding PGD tampering with nature and playing God as well as
the overarching benefits and drawbacks of this technology, couples should be not be permitted to use
preimplantation genetic diagnosis to select an embryo in any circumstance.
Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) uses genetic analysis technologies such as PCR, comparative
genomic hybridization, or fluorescence in situ hybridization to ultimately select an embryo based on
the presence or

Catcher In The Rye Banned
Despite being considered a phenomenon by countless individuals, The Catcher in the Rye written by
J.D. Salinger has been argued to be the biggest controversial novel during the 1950 s. The book has
many reasons to banned such as the vulgar language or intense underage drinking along with more.
While most of the world chooses to have this book be banned, I believe that The Catcher in the Rye
doesn t deserve to have the banned reputation that most identify it with.
Salinger writes holden as a rebellious independent teenager which reflects the mood at the time (this
being the 1950 s). Because of this, Salinger s diction throughout Holden s story needs to be vulgar and
controversial to depict a teen during the 50 s. A case of this type of teen ... Show more content on

Some say Catcher in the Rye has rightfully owed the spot of being banned. However, many have
stated that the reasons of the novel being banned are weak and ignorant. One critic named P. J. Corbett
defends the novel by arguing its language is no huge deal. Corbett states Considered in isolation, the
language is crude and profane. It would be difficult to argue, however, that such language is
unfamiliar to our young people or that it is rougher than the language they are accustomed to hear in
the streets among their acquaintances (Raise High the Barriers, Censors Corbett). Corbett uses a very
well expressed argument that despite the vulgar language involved within the book, it is not like one
will go unexposed to this type of language in their lifetime. Especially since the book s intended
audience is teens who are more than familiar with the language. Similarly, Corbett also argues in the
same article, One shouldn t have to remind readers of what Cardinal Newman once said, that we
cannot have a sinless literature about a sinful people (Raise High the Barriers, Censors Corbett).
Corbett continues to argue with using the idea of censorships pretending that our world has no wrong
in it. The idea of excluding something in order to prevent people from reading it shows that people or
so focused on removing things considered

The Life Of My Life
I was eight years old, all I could think about was my family. How was I gonna go to school? Would I
lose my friends? Would I ever see my brother again? I would write about my family breaking up. My
writing was on a piece of printer paper with pens, (I wasn t allowed to have markers at my mom s
house). She wasn t home much so I would write about the boys she brought home. How some of them
had tattoos and some of them had cool, funky hair. I was about 11 years old and my 5th grade teacher
told me to write about the best moment that had happened to me in the past 3 years. This was hard for
me, because my friend s would write about how they got a new Ipod or how they got a new bike but
me, the lonely 11 year old girl, would write about how her dad finally was granted complete custody
of me and my brother. I wrote about how he picked us up from our horrible school and unenrolled us
and took us home, to our real home. I described how my dad looked like he just won the lottery and
my brother and I just couldn t let go of him. My teacher was surprised that I wrote about something so
personal. I was only an 11 year old girl and I wasn t writing about the new bike I got or the new ipod I
got. I was different, and I was proud of this writing. My teacher called my dad and told him what I
wrote about. I came home and my dad told me to read it to him, tears were rolling down his face. I
thought he was sad but he was happy. He couldn t believe that his 11 year old depressed

Medical Professionals Should Always Value A Patient s...
Medical professionals should always value a patient s ethical right to privacy and confidentiality.
Under the HIPPA law, there are still concerns with the protection of patient privacy; therefore,
healthcare professionals must confront the growing technological environment and find ways to
increase access security, as well as discipline employees that violate a patient s privacy. Electronic
health records can be beneficial to providers from a cost and efficiency standpoint, but are patients
really better off with a paperless system?5
Privacy relates to people; confidentiality relates to data. A patient has a right to privacy and
confidentiality concerning their mental and physical medical records. The term privacy has been

Healthcare providers are able to communicate easier via electronic medical records and under the
HIPPA law it is illegal to release patient information to other non healthcare professional parties.
HIPPA states, covered entities are required to protect the confidentiality or integrity of medical
information stored in electric records.5
Confidentiality extends past privacy and protects identifiable data. So, what is considered confidential
patient information? Confidential patient information consists of Protected Health Information (PHI).
The PHI contains the patient s demographic information, social security number, diagnoses codes,
medical record number, name of doctors, conversations between healthcare providers, billing
information, images of the patient, and medications. Confidential information is seen electronically in
a patient s medical record everyday and sometimes employees forget how important it is to keep a
patient s information confidential. Mental and physical conditions, treatment plans and daily notes are
documented in electronic medical records.
The healthcare industry benefits from Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Electronic software is used
to store and transfer patient health records. The advances in technology allow healthcare professionals
to access and share patient medical history. Such a system may decrease health care costs, increase the
quality of patient care, facilitate better departmental communication, create less paper confusion,

Comparing Plutarch And Suetonius

History 414

A great way to look at the writing styles of two separate biographers is to see how they present the life
of the same person. In this case we are lucky enough to have two ancient biographers who both have
focused one of their works on the life of Julius Caesar. These two ancient men are Plutarch and
Suetonius. By having two story tellers tell the story of the life of the same character, it makes each
writer s writing aspects that much more obvious to the reader. Plutarch has a very different collection
of features to his writing, but also see the importance of the military in that time to write his biography
about. Overall his writing is a a very good balance between informative and dramatic with different
personas to discuss aspects in Caesar s life. Suetonius has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Suetonius has a very different structured style of biography for Julius Caesar. Suetonius main focuses
is on Caesars conniving way to by any means manipulate his way into higher positions of power. A lot
of Suetonius sections book goes in great detail of how Julius was looking into political positions of
power and manipulations in order to attain those positions. Something that caught my eye is that
Suetonius was a section dedicated to simply describing the physical and mental attributes of Caesar.
Moreover, Suetonius didn t put these describing attributes throughout the biography, but saved them
all for their own little section in the biography. I think the most prominent attribute to Caesar s
personality that Suetonius makes known in his work is Caesar s love for a lavish lifestyle. Plutarch is
another ancient biographer who decides to write about the life of Julius Caesar. Plutarch also has a
very dramatic and or tragic element to his writing. By combing through his life story, Plutarch s
writing styles are discovered. Plutarch focuses mainly on military matters in Caesars life, while
sometimes adding

Mummy Case of Paankhenamun Essay
Mummy Case of Paankhenamun Works Cited Not Included The work I chose to analyze was from a
wall fragment from the tomb of Ameneemhet and wife Hemet called Mummy Case of Paankhenamun,
found in the Art Institute of Chicago. The case of the Mummy Paankhenamun is one of the most
exquisite pieces of art produced by the Egyptian people during the time before Christ. This coffin
belonged to a man named Paankhenamun, which translates to He Lives for Amun (Hornblower
Spawforth 74). Paankhenamun was the doorkeeper of the temple of the god Amun, a position he
inherited from his father. Interestingly, X rays reveal that the mummy case of Paankhenamun does in
fact contain a mummy inside dating back to the years of c. 945 715 B.C. ... Show more content on

Nonetheless, during the 12th Dynasty, there was a temple built for Amun s worship and toward the
end of the 18th Dynasty, Amun s status increased even more and he became known as ...the great
royal deity who was Father of the Gods and ruler of Egypt and the people of its empire (Rosalie 104).
The Mummy Case of Paankhenamun was composed of a substance known as cartonnage, which was
usually made out of linen or papyrus strips bound together with a sticky substance in order to form a
flexible shell. After mummification, the wrapped body was placed in the coffin case through the back,
which was then laced up and a footboard was added for support. Only then the case was ready to be
painted. Such cartonnage cases as the case of Paankhenamun were normally placed inside one or more
layered wooden coffins and were also decorated. The innermost coffin was always in the shape of the
mummy and due to its utmost importance, it was the case with the richest decorations. The amazing
detail is still a wonder to many historians and anthropologists (Stockstad 120 3). Similarly to other
Egyptian funerary rituals, the case of Paankhenamun was also buried inside of a sarcophagus case, a
huge stone case for the coffin, and then inside of a decorated tomb, which most likely contained his
most valuable personal belongings and religious symbols. The decorations often consisted of images

A Biological Allegory By Sherwood Anderson
A Biological Allegory
In a letter recovered after his mother s death, Sherwood Anderson writes, I have seen my own mother
stand all day over a washtub, washing the dirty linen of the pretentious middle class women not fit to
tie her shoelaces, this just to get her sons enough food to keep them alive, and I presume I shall never
in my life see a working woman without identifying her with my mother (Letters) (Colquitt 19).
Sherwood Anderson was born in 1876, but wrote this short story in the 1930s ( Sherwood Anderson
Dictionary 1). He grew up in poverty in Camden, Ohio. Growing up, his mother was the sole provider
of the family; she sacrificed herself in order to keep her family afloat. Her life served as an inspiration

them and fed the cows in the barn, fed the pigs, the horses and the chickens. Every moment of every
day, as a young girl, was spent feeding something (Anderson 2). Her one and only job on this farm is
to provide, feed the animals, feed the husband, feed the wife. She spends every moment of every day
feeding others. The description of the German s wife implies that she provides for the husband as well,
but in the form of giving birth. Her big hips show that she is responsible for bearing children. Both
feeding and bearing children were a woman s sole responsibilities during this era. Although the wife s
figure implies her burden of having children, the husband still wants the woman to provide for all of
his physical and emotional needs. After being saved by Jake Grimes, the woman s future husband, she
tells him of her time on the farm. She told Jake a lot of stuff, how the German had tried to get her, how
he chased her once into the barn, how another time, when they happened to be alone in the barn

Praiseworthy can be defined as deserving approval and admiration and after hearing this I believe that

Essay about Rocky Shore Investigation
Rocky Shore Investigation
Null Hypothesis:
There is no pattern to the distribution of organisms over a rocky shore.
Variables:
Factors that affect the distribution of organisms over an area of shoreline are:
· The depth of water which may cover an organism at high tide.
· How resistant an organism in the littoral zone is to dessication.
· How efficiently an organism can conserve water.
· The proximity and availability of nutrition.

Also they may not inhabit zones 13, 14 and 15 because there is nothing for them to feed on there.
Limpets were most common in stations 9 12, therefore we can deduce that the predominate seaweeds
here are what they mainly feed on. The species of seaweeds in these stations were mainly Fucus
vesiculosus, Ceramium and Lithothamnion. My research tells me that juvenile limpets are brought up
in the Lithothamnion, therefore we can presume that this is where they like to graze. Out of
Lithothamnion, Fucus vesiculosus and Ceramium the limpet population follows Lithothamnion
availability the best. Also, the limpets are perhaps the most well adapted of all the marine snails for a
life on the exposed rock surfaces. Each limpet has its own home an exact spot on the rock where it
stays when the tide is out. On soft rock, the limpet grinds it with its shell to make an exact fit; on hard
rock, the shell is ground down to fit the rock s shape. This tight fit allows the limpet to trap a spoonful
of water inside to stop it drying up. A strong foot muscle gets a firm grip on the rock, making it
difficult for birds to prise off the limpet.

Architecture, Belief Systems, And Societal Structure
Culture is a very important aspect of human life; it defines the way people live, grow, and evolve.
Anthropologists study cultures throughout the world and throughout different time periods. They
study the different aspects of culture including architecture, belief systems, and societal structure.
Egypt is a country ripe with history and rich culture, from their towering pyramids to their modern day
society. Intricately crafted obelisks and tombs decorate the landscape, but how much of that is being
preserved? The study and preservation of past culture can heavily influence and educate the present. It
is important to learn about the past in order to evolve and create a better future. While change can be
beneficial, it is important not to neglect ancient culture.
When a person thinks of Ancient Egypt, she might first picture the pyramids, the Sphinx, and even the
towering statues and obelisks. Architecture has been a defining point throughout Egypt s history.
Some structures, such as the temples of Karnak and Luxor built along the Nile River, were created to
honor the dead and worship the Egyptian gods (Temples, n.d.). Ancient Egypt was full of temples
which were built to house the Gods and separate them from the rest of the world. According to a
creation legend, the first temple was built on a large mound that had risen from the primeval sea
known as Nun. In one version of the legend, a lotus flower grew upon this mound and humans were
created soon after in an event known

Pros And Cons Of Indians
The establishment of the Virginia colony was a rough, and tough one. For many years after the first
settlement the establishment lacked advancement and was a great failure to it s original expectations.
Despite the claim that the colonial experience between two cultures results in the destruction of the
inferior culture, the superior English could have easily been wiped out had the inferior Indians let
them stare to death. Yet, because of this helping hand, the saved Europeans, with more superior
economics, technology, and lustful desires in mind seized the land right under the Indians. Were the
Indians fated to be destroyed based on the decisions and the circumstances of both parties, and why?
The Indians were unfortunate collateral damage to their own helping hand, boosting the likelihood of
their destruction and the growing greed and selfishness of the Whites. With many cultural differences,
morals, and action the Indians were not exactly up to par with the European s current way of life.
Bringing lustful desires of profit, and imposing intentions to the New World the Europeans were
armed with much more powerful weaponry, bigger and better ships, and ambition for greater things. A
word to describe the dominating whites, would be opportunists . They came to the New World with
the intension of preconceived ideas and expectations, of taking and making use of whatever the New
World gave them. With negative connotation the word sheds light on the greed, destruction and lack ...

Chinook Salmon Essay
The lifecycle of the New Zealand chinook salmon is conventional to that of salmon in the North
Pacific. chinook salmon (Otherwise known as quinnat or king salmon) mature in the ocean, they
typically will reach sexual maturity at 3 years old, but this can vary anything between 2 7 years.
(Females take longer than males.) Upon reaching sexual maturity, they will migrate upstream to
spawn. Spawning usually occurs in autumn, immediately after all adults die, as the energy expenditure
of the process is too significant to recover. The eggs will hatch in early spring, and the chinook will
spend several months in the fresh water (some populations spend up to a year) before they migrate
downstream into the ocean, only to repeat the process over. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Euryhaline fish species are able to adapt to a wide range of salinities. This is absolutely crucial for the
chinook salmon to survive in the various conditions it is challenged by. Typically, an ocean has a
salinity of 35 ppt (parts per thousand), whereas freshwater has a salinity of less than 0.5 ppt. The
chinook is challenged with keeping the concentration and composition of their body fluids within
homeostatic limits while migrating through these continual changes in water salinity. Homeostasis
refers to the relatively constant physiological state of the body despite fluctuations in the external
environment. To be more specific the chinook salmon must regulate water potential in order to sustain
fluid and electrolyte balance within its body relative to its surroundings. This is achieved through a
process called osmoregulation. Osmoregulation is crucial for the chinook to maintain optimal osmotic
pressure within the body, this is the way by which it can withhold a suitable concentration of solutes
and amount of water in its body fluids. Osmosis is the net movement of water or solvent molecules
across a semi permeable membrane from a region of low solute concentration to high concentration.
The chinook salmon proves to be an excellent example of an organism that displays the application of
osmoregulation in order to survive and complete the lifecycle required of it to spawn and pass on its

Internal Changes In England During The 16th Century
During the sixteenth century England experienced many political, social and religious changes.
England was still recovering from the turmoil of the Hundred Year War (1337 1453) as well as dealing
with many other internal conflicts. Soon after the end of The Hundred Year war, civil wars now
referenced as the War of Roses broke out. These civil wars were a result of rivalry between branches
of the royal house of Plantagenet; the House of Lancaster and House of York who fought sporadically
for many years between 1455 and 1487. Other internal problems were related to the unstable
monarchy, and conflict between leading religions of Protestants and Catholics in England. Henry VIII
Edward VI and Mary I were all rulers following the Hundreds Year War. As a result of all the financial
strain from this war as well as tensions from internal conflict, these leaders rules were ineffective in
terms of finding compromise and rebuilding England. The sixteen hundreds in England was referred
to by historians as The Golden Age or Elizabethan Era. This was the era in which Queen Elizabeth I
(1558 1603) rose to power and ran a monarchy that was able to temporarily settle conflicts and
establish a sense of peace in a country that had been fighting both external and internal forces for
decades. The Elizabethan era was also a time of renewal and development in music and the arts of
England. It was during the sixteenth century that Italian culture, art, and music became very popular in
England.

Review of Film The World is Not Enough
The greatest spy the world has ever known returns for yet another adventure. Once again the British
secret service has to save the world from certain chaos and destruction and only one man is good
enough for the job, that man is Bond…James Bond . We all know the format, but we love it. The title
is The World is Not Enough , and is the final Bond film of the twentieth century, finishing the
millennium with the usual mix of guns, girls and gadgets.
The film utilises exotic locations around the world and yet manages to make London look good. The

public. The sets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film fits into the usual Bond criteria. It has explosions, guns, gadgets, girls (foreign girls of
course), chases and cars. There are many close escapes; the best being when Bond escapes from the
nuclear facility in Azabaizan. He is propelled out of the secret tunnels followed by a huge fireball.
The stunts and special effects are staggering. How did they get Bond to fall from an exploding balloon
on to the Dome and bounce down as if was a perfectly normal activity? How did they blow up an
entire mountain? At the climatic ending Bond escapes from the villains lair with a girl, whilst blowing
the whole place up! The stunt people and special effects people must have seemingly magical powers.
No other film character or secret agent can outclass Bond!
Director Michael Apted has created a film that proceeds at a good pace with a strong, straightforward
story line, and yet also includes interesting and sometimes stunning locations. It is his first
action/adventure film, previously making his name as director of Gorillas in the Mist a true life,
documentary style film. He directs the scenes well and controls them with skill, in turn bringing out
the best in Pierce Brosnan, the cool shaken, not stirred Bond and the evil Renard, (Robbie Carlyle).

and the global prevalence for PMS is roughly 47.8% with percentages of women affected varying by
country1. Symptoms of PMS are cyclic, occur during the luteal phase, and diminish with the onset of
the menses2. There are more than 200 symptoms that have been associated with PMS, but the most
common symptoms can be categorized into 3 groups: behavioral, psychological, and physical
symptoms. Behavioral symptoms include fatigue, insomnia, dizziness, change in sexual interest, food
cravings, and/or overeating2. Psychological symptoms include irritability, anger, depressed mood,

Iron is also a crucial part of menses, as it is found in blood, and the menstrual cycle can deplete a
woman s stores. While food sources are the recommended vehicles in which to meet the
recommendations for these vitamins and minerals, supplementation is another way a woman could
ensure she is getting the recommended dose of the aforementioned vitamins and minerals.
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of vitamin and mineral supplementation on
reducing PMS symptoms in women between the ages of 20 and 30. Half of the female population
suffers from PMS, while others experience significant symptoms that are not severe enough for a
clinical diagnosis, but occur during the luteal phase and affect daily living. This study is important
because PMS affects many women, and if this study successfully found a supplement or nutrition
prescription that reduced symptoms, women could live life regularly again.
Study Aims and Hypothesis One of the aim of this study is to identify if women with PMS have a
nutritional deficiency that could be an underlying factor in the symptoms they are experiencing.
Another aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of different vitamins and minerals on reducing
symptoms of PMS by testing various vitamin and mineral supplements on

French And Indian War Dbq Essay
The French and Indian war (1754 1763) commonly known as the seven year war. The war was
between New France and the colonies of British America. The reason for the war was for control of
North America and the fur trade. The Treaty of Paris was the treaty that marked the ending of the
French and Indian War. The treaty gave the British control over the area west of the thirteen colonies
to the Mississippi River. Which made France lose all its properties on North American land. The
French and Indian War changed the relationship between Britain and its American colonies because
the war empowered Britain to be more vigorous in colonial political and economic matters by
imposing regulations and collecting taxes unfairly on the colonies, which then caused the colonists to
change their ideology from acceptance to resentment toward Britain. The French and Indian War
changed the political relationship between Britain and its American Colonies because after the war

The economic rationale for the method of multiple valuation method is the law of one price, i.e.,
identical assets should sell for the same price. To compute the multiple valuation method we needed to
define the peer group first. Apple, IBM and HP are not suitable because of their bigger dimension
(market capitalization, Debt, Equity and Share price). Also, to be comparable, firms need to be similar
in terms of risk, profitability, and growth. Once the comparable companies were identified, the
multiples were computed and a comparison was established between the peer group s market
capitalization and share price and those of the target company (Sun). In this context, where a company

reflecting both debt (we assumed net debt in this case) and equity. In this case, the enterprise value is a
better basis for the valuation. That way we used the EV/EBITDA ratio, which resulted in a
meaningless value as Sun s EBITDA is negative. EV/Sales ratio should then be used. In fact, the
EV/Sales ratio raised the firm s valuation to $16375,51 Million against its $6198,17 Million market

Lord Of The Flies Critical Analysis
The novel, Lord of the Flies, was written by William Golding in 1954. The novel tells the story of
what a horrible and disturbing world looks like when things go wrong. Sigmund Freud was a
psychologist that studied how humans minds work and our controlled by basic impulses in the
unconscious brain called the Id, Superego, and the Ego (CommonLit Staff). In the book, Jack
represents the Id, Ralph represents Ego, and Piggy is the Superego. The most basic and oldest brain
part is the Id. Freud believed that the Id was the location of our pleasure principle. This is the area that
tells us to seek instant gratification from the things we do (CommonLit Staff). It doesn t know things
like right or wrong and justs acts like an animal doing whatever it wants and whenever it wants. The
boy named Jack is the Id part of the brain. One example is when Jack decides to leave his job doing
the fire to go hunting with the hunting party. Jack, obsessed with the idea of killing a pig, camouflages
his face with clay and charcoal and enters the jungle to hunt, accompanied by several other boys. On
the beach, Ralph and Piggy see a ship on the horizon but they also see that the signal fire has gone out
(Chapter 4). The Jack Id wants to go and have fun hunting on not be bored with the job of the fire. He
acts impulsive and doesn t do what is right. Second example is when Jack has had too much of Ralph
and takes over the group. As Piggy and Ralph sit in the old camp discussing the

Essay Diagnosing the Needs for Change in the Aftermath
The loss of the space shuttle Columbia prompted an investigation to determine the factors that
contributed to the accident. Essential to the investigation was collecting and analyzing data associated
not only with the Columbia accident, but that of the 1987 loss of the space shuttle Challenger.
Evidence from the investigation indicated that lessons learned from the Challenger were not
necessarily applied to the shuttle program and may have been instrumental in the loss of the
Columbia. It was determined that several factors outside of the technical and systemic systems were
associated within the NASA organization and contributed to the loss of the shuttles. Addressed here
are some of the factors that contributed to the tragedies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This reengineering required a significant overhaul in the manner in which the organization was
structured and likewise, the way that it s units communicated. As outlined in CAIB data, NASA had
understood the requirements of the change in priority but it never changed its view in the manner in
which it would accomplish the new requirement. The deeply rooted can do culture persisted.
1980 s and Beyond By the time the nation moved into the 1980 s, the space shuttle was developed and
ready to be launched by early 1981. However, the cost of the shuttle program was significantly higher
than the agency anticipated. This fact, along with culture that NASA retained lent itself to breakdowns
in communication and safety procedures which were its hallmark during the Apollo era. Plainly stated,
the organization realigned itself in a manner that put the Safety, Reliability and Quality Assurance
offices under the supervision of the very organizations and activities whose efforts they are to check
(Rogers Commission, Chapter 7, 1986). The presence of multiple contractors working independently
made it nearly impossible to align information that could be analyzed. These failures in
communication and structure were culminated in the tragedy of the Challenger in 1986. According to
the Commission (1986), further contributing to the tragedy was as flight rate increased, the (Marshall)

Panama Canal Analysis
Major events leading to the construction of the Panama Canal:
The French impose an effort on the construction of the canal but end in a dejected failure.
Within the 1900s, John Hay and Julian Pauncefote come to an agreement that allows the United States
to control the construction and administration of the canal without fortifying it (Hay Pauncefote
Treaty).
Theodore Roosevelt then becomes president establishing great significance towards the idea that the
United States should behold total management over the canal.
The second treaty accomplishes the goal that allows the United States fortification of the canal.
Due to the lower demands introduced to the senate along with the natural disaster of what Mt.
Momotombo could cause, congress favors Panama.
Hay then offers negotiations towards Colombia, but the agreement is rejected.
The superiorities in Washington then exposed the idea that Panama could resolve the Colombian
conflict if they established and won independence as a whole.
A Panamanian group then plans to initiate a revolution with over 500 rebels.
United States Naval ships stop Colombian troops from interfering with Panamanian rebels.
In one day with the help of the U.S. and its naval ships, Panama is granted independence from
Colombia.
A new treaty is established that explains and distinguishes the rights for building the canal while also
protecting Panama.
The canal is then built and finalized after seven years of Roosevelt s passing.

The Theories Of Aggression And Sport
Discuss the different ways in which theories of aggression relate to sport
Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play. It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfulness,
disregard of all rules, and sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence: in other words, it is war without the
shooting.
George Orwell (1948/1968). The sporting spirit. Collected essays, journalism and letters of George
Orwell, vol. 4. London: Secker and Warburg.
INTRODUCTION
Human aggression means different things to different people, that depend from the field where the
aggression is shown. In the sports world, the political arena or the business community, assertive
behavior is often taken to be synonymous with aggression (Gordon W. Russel 2008)
With the problems of behavior of individual people usually deal Behaviorism and according to that
theory behavior of person depends on the emotions, circumstances and feelings. Aggression is one of
such emotional states. One of the factors that defines personality is the level of his aggression or
stiffness, which is basically the antonym of charity. Aggressiveness has different manifestations.
Most of the relationship between violence and sports in the ancient world, derived from the
connection between the ancient sport and war. Sport has a value as a method to combat readiness and
he also had value as a substitute for direct military conflict. Battlefield Tactics soldiers needed to be in
a great shape, and combat skills gained from combat sports

Changes Within The Workplace After The Economy,...
Changes in the workplace due to the economy, technology, and globalization have affected many lives
in modern day society. In addition, managerial approaches have influenced changes organizations
have faced throughout the years, which tend to affect an organization s workforce. For example, some
of the changes organizations have had to encounter have been around the following, but are not
limited to employee productivity, employee and organizational inefficiency, employee s personal and
professional value, and organizational structure to name a few. Furthermore, managerial approaches
going back centuries have molded certain expectations people and organizations have of each other.
For example, many individuals during the industrial era had an expectation to contribute to his or her
household at a young age. The feeling of this type of obligation at times in today s society are seen,
but are not as prevalent. Instead of young people focusing on their studies, and skill set, they often
have to find employment that he or she initially do not want to do, which often times leads to entry
level positions that are typically left. Allowing managers to often alienate and exploit the employee.
What this often leads to in organizations is the ineffective managerial approaches often throwing the
human element out the window. Through alienating employees, it denies him or her meaningful work,
which in turns reduces opportunities for growth. The exploitation of employees occurs

Themes Of Shall We Dance
The movie Shall we dance is about Shohei Sugiyama who was a successful Japanese salaryman who
worked at an accountant firm in Tokyo. Mr. Sugiyama had a beautiful house, a successful job, a
devoted wife, and a teenage daughter. Despite these accomplishments, Mr. Sugiyama is not happy and
his family notices when he comes home late at night depressed. Modernization has forced him into a
job that he isn t happy at. Modernization and Westernization have forced him to buy a house, get
married, and have a kid those ideals represent the modern Japanese society. In a clash between
traditional roles and modern roles in Japanese society Mr. Sugiyama is conflicted. Mr. Sugiyama in
traditional times would embrace whatever passions he had. Poetry, dancing, shopping, whatever that
in today s modern culture is seen as effeminate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sugiyama would probably be a peasant or a samurai. However, modern times have forced him to get
an 8 hour job. Shall we dance offers its viewers the realization that sometimes having fun is finding
something you like and embracing it. Dancing offers an outlet from the stress of the modern world and
Mr. Sugiyama s life becomes happier when he dances. He gets his family involved and they find
happiness because he is happy. The theme of the movie is work versus play. Modern society forces
men to work while traditional society fun was more important than work. The affection he displayed
when dancing was absent in his everyday life. He was not excited to work, but excited to dance. He
was serious when it came to work and his family, but when he began to dance he began to see the fun
in life. Dancing enabled Mr. Sugiyama to be in harmony with nature as were men in harmony with
nature in traditional society. The movie s purpose was to inspire people not to take their life so
seriously and to find the fun in life. We only live once, and we should be more interconnected with our
inner beings instead of worried about our jobs and being

  • 5. Decline of Union Membership Essay Organized labor has seen a long and ever changing history in the United States. What began as minimal organized labor movement catapulted into astronomical union membership rates as the nation grew and developed. The intense power unions possessed only lasted so long and in the years since 1970, union membership in the United States has collapsed. This paper will examine the most significant reasons for the decline in membership. In brief, organizational redesigns, the development of technology and substantial public policy changes have all contributed to the drop in affiliation rates. In addition, policy suggestions will be provided in an attempt to support the continuation of the trend. Much of the research regarding this topic refers to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1913, Congress created the United 3 State Department of Labor as a direct result of pressure from organized labor (MacLaury). Shortly after the creation of the Department of Labor, the Great Recession hit the nation. With the depression came an increased unemployment and lesser wages however significant legislation was also created during that time that impacted union membership. The most significant law was the Fair Labor Standards Act. Following shortly after this FLSA, the United States amended the Equal Pay Act and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Occupations Health and Safety Act of 1970. Although these acts were supported by the power of unions, these acts in particular impact union membership which will be discussed later in the paper. It was at this time in the nation s history that unions began to see a decline in membership. Unions today cast a wide umbrella of membership and consist of trade unions such as the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Laborers International Union of North America to service unions such as the United Food and Commercial Workers. Although their membership has declined, unions that were once affiliated with a defined group skilled labor employees now can be found in almost any industry representing any group of employees. • 8. Sacagawea s Impact On The Lewis And Clark Expedition Sacagawea s help on the Lewis and Clark Expedition Makes it a Success All across America people know the name of Sacagawea, the Indian interpreter for the Lewis and Clark expedition. Sacagawea was known for being the only woman on the expedition, but many people may not know all the reasons as to how she survived being the only woman. She became strong through all of the events that happened to her. Sacagawea, the only woman on the Lewis and Clark expedition, survived because of events that happened to her at a young age and because of her good interpreting skills. Sacagawea, also known as Bird woman, was the daughter of a Shoshone chief( A Fine Boy ). Sacagawea s tribe, the Shoshone, was a very poor tribe(Patrick, Mcgrath). She was born in either 1788 or in 1789(Patrick, Mcgrath). Sacagawea was captured by the Hidatsa Indians at the young age of 12 and she was also raised by them( A Fine Boy ). Because she was the daughter of an Indian tribe, she made the expedition a success and was able to accompany Lewis and Clark on their return back to their own country(Fisher,Doris,pg 14). The expedition may not have been a success without the courage and the knowledge of Sacagawea(Kelly, Stephanie,p 9). Sacagawea got married when she was only 15 ... • 9. Disadvantages Of Designer Babies The term designer babies arouses both excitement and fear worldwide; most envision a future where the intellect, health, and physical traits of a child can be chosen on demand, without realizing that designer babies are actually already among us. According to Dr. Ronald Pang, a post doctoral fellow at the University of Hong Kong, the term designer babies encapsulates both babies who were selected for a specific gene by preimplantation genetic diagnosis and those whose embryos were genetically modified before implantation (Pang). This paper will focus on the former type of designer babies: those created by preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). In contrast to genetically modified embryos, PGD does not alter DNA and instead selects an embryo for the presence of a specific gene. PGD is offered by 74 percent of in vitro fertilization clinics, but is still a controversial technology due to its various applications including disease diagnosis, trait selection, and sex selection (Davis). Upon considering two major concerns surrounding PGD tampering with nature and playing God as well as the overarching benefits and drawbacks of this technology, couples should be not be permitted to use preimplantation genetic diagnosis to select an embryo in any circumstance. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) uses genetic analysis technologies such as PCR, comparative genomic hybridization, or fluorescence in situ hybridization to ultimately select an embryo based on the presence or ... Salinger has been argued to be the biggest controversial novel during the 1950 s. The book has many reasons to banned such as the vulgar language or intense underage drinking along with more. While most of the world chooses to have this book be banned, I believe that The Catcher in the Rye doesn t deserve to have the banned reputation that most identify it with. Salinger writes holden as a rebellious independent teenager which reflects the mood at the time (this being the 1950 s). Because of this, Salinger s diction throughout Holden s story needs to be vulgar and controversial to depict a teen during the 50 s. A case of this type of teen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some say Catcher in the Rye has rightfully owed the spot of being banned. However, many have stated that the reasons of the novel being banned are weak and ignorant. One critic named P. J. Corbett defends the novel by arguing its language is no huge deal. Corbett states Considered in isolation, the language is crude and profane. It would be difficult to argue, however, that such language is unfamiliar to our young people or that it is rougher than the language they are accustomed to hear in the streets among their acquaintances (Raise High the Barriers, Censors Corbett). Corbett uses a very well expressed argument that despite the vulgar language involved within the book, it is not like one will go unexposed to this type of language in their lifetime. Especially since the book s intended audience is teens who are more than familiar with the language. Similarly, Corbett also argues in the same article, One shouldn t have to remind readers of what Cardinal Newman once said, that we cannot have a sinless literature about a sinful people (Raise High the Barriers, Censors Corbett). Corbett continues to argue with using the idea of censorships pretending that our world has no wrong in it. She wasn t home much so I would write about the boys she brought home. How some of them had tattoos and some of them had cool, funky hair. I was about 11 years old and my 5th grade teacher told me to write about the best moment that had happened to me in the past 3 years. This was hard for me, because my friend s would write about how they got a new Ipod or how they got a new bike but me, the lonely 11 year old girl, would write about how her dad finally was granted complete custody of me and my brother. I wrote about how he picked us up from our horrible school and unenrolled us and took us home, to our real home. I described how my dad looked like he just won the lottery and my brother and I just couldn t let go of him. My teacher was surprised that I wrote about something so personal. I was only an 11 year old girl and I wasn t writing about the new bike I got or the new ipod I got. I was different, and I was proud of this writing. • 13. Comparing Plutarch And Suetonius Julie deTar Alyson Roy History 414 2/19/18 A great way to look at the writing styles of two separate biographers is to see how they present the life of the same person. In this case we are lucky enough to have two ancient biographers who both have focused one of their works on the life of Julius Caesar. These two ancient men are Plutarch and Suetonius. By having two story tellers tell the story of the life of the same character, it makes each writer s writing aspects that much more obvious to the reader. Plutarch has a very different collection of features to his writing, but also see the importance of the military in that time to write his biography about. A lot of Suetonius sections book goes in great detail of how Julius was looking into political positions of power and manipulations in order to attain those positions. Something that caught my eye is that Suetonius was a section dedicated to simply describing the physical and mental attributes of Caesar. Moreover, Suetonius didn t put these describing attributes throughout the biography, but saved them all for their own little section in the biography. I think the most prominent attribute to Caesar s personality that Suetonius makes known in his work is Caesar s love for a lavish lifestyle. Plutarch is another ancient biographer who decides to write about the life of Julius Caesar. Plutarch also has a very dramatic and or tragic element to his writing. By combing through his life story, Plutarch s writing styles are discovered. Plutarch focuses mainly on military matters in Caesars life, while sometimes adding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Mummy Case of Paankhenamun Essay Mummy Case of Paankhenamun Works Cited Not Included The work I chose to analyze was from a wall fragment from the tomb of Ameneemhet and wife Hemet called Mummy Case of Paankhenamun, found in the Art Institute of Chicago. The case of the Mummy Paankhenamun is one of the most exquisite pieces of art produced by the Egyptian people during the time before Christ. This coffin belonged to a man named Paankhenamun, which translates to He Lives for Amun (Hornblower Spawforth 74). Paankhenamun was the doorkeeper of the temple of the god Amun, a position he inherited from his father. Interestingly, X rays reveal that the mummy case of Paankhenamun does in fact contain a mummy inside dating back to the years of c. 945 715 B.C. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nonetheless, during the 12th Dynasty, there was a temple built for Amun s worship and toward the end of the 18th Dynasty, Amun s status increased even more and he became known as ...the great royal deity who was Father of the Gods and ruler of Egypt and the people of its empire (Rosalie 104). The Mummy Case of Paankhenamun was composed of a substance known as cartonnage, which was usually made out of linen or papyrus strips bound together with a sticky substance in order to form a flexible shell. After mummification, the wrapped body was placed in the coffin case through the back, which was then laced up and a footboard was added for support. Only then the case was ready to be painted. Such cartonnage cases as the case of Paankhenamun were normally placed inside one or more layered wooden coffins and were also decorated. The innermost coffin was always in the shape of the mummy and due to its utmost importance, it was the case with the richest decorations. The amazing detail is still a wonder to many historians and anthropologists (Stockstad 120 3). Similarly to other Egyptian funerary rituals, the case of Paankhenamun was also buried inside of a sarcophagus case, a huge stone case for the coffin, and then inside of a decorated tomb, which most likely contained his most valuable personal belongings and religious symbols. Sherwood Anderson was born in 1876, but wrote this short story in the 1930s ( Sherwood Anderson Dictionary 1). He grew up in poverty in Camden, Ohio. Variables: Factors that affect the distribution of organisms over an area of shoreline are: · The depth of water which may cover an organism at high tide. · How resistant an organism in the littoral zone is to dessication. · How efficiently an organism can conserve water. · The proximity and availability of nutrition. I know this through observation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also they may not inhabit zones 13, 14 and 15 because there is nothing for them to feed on there. Limpets were most common in stations 9 12, therefore we can deduce that the predominate seaweeds here are what they mainly feed on. The species of seaweeds in these stations were mainly Fucus vesiculosus, Ceramium and Lithothamnion. My research tells me that juvenile limpets are brought up in the Lithothamnion, therefore we can presume that this is where they like to graze. Out of Lithothamnion, Fucus vesiculosus and Ceramium the limpet population follows Lithothamnion availability the best. Also, the limpets are perhaps the most well adapted of all the marine snails for a life on the exposed rock surfaces. Each limpet has its own home an exact spot on the rock where it stays when the tide is out. On soft rock, the limpet grinds it with its shell to make an exact fit; on hard rock, the shell is ground down to fit the rock s shape. This tight fit allows the limpet to trap a spoonful of water inside to stop it drying up. A strong foot muscle gets a firm grip on the rock, making it difficult for birds to prise off the limpet.

(Females take longer than males.) Upon reaching sexual maturity, they will migrate upstream to spawn. Spawning usually occurs in autumn, immediately after all adults die, as the energy expenditure of the process is too significant to recover. The eggs will hatch in early spring, and the chinook will spend several months in the fresh water (some populations spend up to a year) before they migrate downstream into the ocean, only to repeat the process over. ... This is absolutely crucial for the chinook salmon to survive in the various conditions it is challenged by. Typically, an ocean has a salinity of 35 ppt (parts per thousand), whereas freshwater has a salinity of less than 0.5 ppt. The chinook is challenged with keeping the concentration and composition of their body fluids within homeostatic limits while migrating through these continual changes in water salinity. Homeostasis refers to the relatively constant physiological state of the body despite fluctuations in the external environment. To be more specific the chinook salmon must regulate water potential in order to sustain fluid and electrolyte balance within its body relative to its surroundings. This is achieved through a process called osmoregulation. Osmoregulation is crucial for the chinook to maintain optimal osmotic pressure within the body, this is the way by which it can withhold a suitable concentration of solutes and amount of water in its body fluids. Osmosis is the net movement of water or solvent molecules across a semi permeable membrane from a region of low solute concentration to high concentration. England was still recovering from the turmoil of the Hundred Year War (1337 1453) as well as dealing with many other internal conflicts. Soon after the end of The Hundred Year war, civil wars now referenced as the War of Roses broke out. These civil wars were a result of rivalry between branches of the royal house of Plantagenet; the House of Lancaster and House of York who fought sporadically for many years between 1455 and 1487. Other internal problems were related to the unstable monarchy, and conflict between leading religions of Protestants and Catholics in England. Henry VIII Edward VI and Mary I were all rulers following the Hundreds Year War. As a result of all the financial strain from this war as well as tensions from internal conflict, these leaders rules were ineffective in terms of finding compromise and rebuilding England. The sixteen hundreds in England was referred to by historians as The Golden Age or Elizabethan Era. This was the era in which Queen Elizabeth I (1558 1603) rose to power and ran a monarchy that was able to temporarily settle conflicts and establish a sense of peace in a country that had been fighting both external and internal forces for decades. Hurricane Katrina caused the activity of the opportunists. As is common, disasters bring out the worst and the best of any individual in our society. As a result of fraud and as a result of the investigations many people ended up arrested. These people were charged for breaking the law by taking funds illicitly from the Red Cross which were destined to victims of Hurricane Katrina. In a way the punishment was appropriate, but at the same time, the squandered money that these people never made it to the hands of the people who really needed it. The ideal would have been to have these individuals give back what was given to them through a good will deed and then serve a sentence for the bad action. It is irritable to learn that there are always people who take advantage of very difficult situations, in this case from the hurricane disaster in New Orleans. The IT industry is extremely competitive and companies are always searching for new ideas and new ways to evolve to be constantly one step ahead of its competitors. The economic rationale for the method of multiple valuation method is the law of one price, i.e., identical assets should sell for the same price. To compute the multiple valuation method we needed to define the peer group first. Apple, IBM and HP are not suitable because of their bigger dimension (market capitalization, Debt, Equity and Share price). Also, to be comparable, firms need to be similar in terms of risk, profitability, and growth. Once the comparable companies were identified, the multiples were computed and a comparison was established between the peer group s market capitalization and share price and those of the target company (Sun). In this context, where a company wants to acquire another, corporate executive are interested in assessing a target s total value, reflecting both debt (we assumed net debt in this case) and equity. In this case, the enterprise value is a better basis for the valuation. That way we used the EV/EBITDA ratio, which resulted in a meaningless value as Sun s EBITDA is negative. EV/Sales ratio should then be used. In fact, the EV/Sales ratio raised the firm s valuation to $16375,51 Million against its $6198,17 Million market capitalization. We can also use the Price Earnings (P/E) ratio, which provides an indication of how much investors are willing to pay for a company s earnings. To ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Lord Of The Flies Critical Analysis The novel, Lord of the Flies, was written by William Golding in 1954. The novel tells the story of what a horrible and disturbing world looks like when things go wrong. Sigmund Freud was a psychologist that studied how humans minds work and our controlled by basic impulses in the unconscious brain called the Id, Superego, and the Ego (CommonLit Staff). In the book, Jack represents the Id, Ralph represents Ego, and Piggy is the Superego. The most basic and oldest brain part is the Id. Freud believed that the Id was the location of our pleasure principle. This is the area that tells us to seek instant gratification from the things we do (CommonLit Staff). It doesn t know things like right or wrong and justs acts like an animal doing whatever it wants and whenever it wants. The boy named Jack is the Id part of the brain. One example is when Jack decides to leave his job doing the fire to go hunting with the hunting party. Jack, obsessed with the idea of killing a pig, camouflages his face with clay and charcoal and enters the jungle to hunt, accompanied by several other boys. On the beach, Ralph and Piggy see a ship on the horizon but they also see that the signal fire has gone out (Chapter 4). Essential to the investigation was collecting and analyzing data associated not only with the Columbia accident, but that of the 1987 loss of the space shuttle Challenger. Evidence from the investigation indicated that lessons learned from the Challenger were not necessarily applied to the shuttle program and may have been instrumental in the loss of the Columbia. It was determined that several factors outside of the technical and systemic systems were associated within the NASA organization and contributed to the loss of the shuttles. Addressed here are some of the factors that contributed to the tragedies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This reengineering required a significant overhaul in the manner in which the organization was structured and likewise, the way that it s units communicated. As outlined in CAIB data, NASA had understood the requirements of the change in priority but it never changed its view in the manner in which it would accomplish the new requirement. The deeply rooted can do culture persisted. 1980 s and Beyond By the time the nation moved into the 1980 s, the space shuttle was developed and ready to be launched by early 1981. However, the cost of the shuttle program was significantly higher than the agency anticipated. This fact, along with culture that NASA retained lent itself to breakdowns in communication and safety procedures which were its hallmark during the Apollo era. Plainly stated, the organization realigned itself in a manner that put the Safety, Reliability and Quality Assurance offices under the supervision of the very organizations and activities whose efforts they are to check (Rogers Commission, Chapter 7, 1986). The presence of multiple contractors working independently made it nearly impossible to align information that could be analyzed. These failures in communication and structure were culminated in the tragedy of the Challenger in 1986. According to the Commission (1986), further contributing to the tragedy was as flight rate increased, the (Marshall) safety, reliability and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Panama Canal Analysis Major events leading to the construction of the Panama Canal: The French impose an effort on the construction of the canal but end in a dejected failure. Within the 1900s, John Hay and Julian Pauncefote come to an agreement that allows the United States to control the construction and administration of the canal without fortifying it (Hay Pauncefote Treaty). Theodore Roosevelt then becomes president establishing great significance towards the idea that the United States should behold total management over the canal. The superiorities in Washington then exposed the idea that Panama could resolve the Colombian conflict if they established and won independence as a whole. A Panamanian group then plans to initiate a revolution with over 500 rebels. United States Naval ships stop Colombian troops from interfering with Panamanian rebels. In one day with the help of the U.S. and its naval ships, Panama is granted independence from Colombia. A new treaty is established that explains and distinguishes the rights for building the canal while also protecting Panama. The canal is then built and finalized after seven years of Roosevelt s passing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Theories Of Aggression And Sport Discuss the different ways in which theories of aggression relate to sport Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play. It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfulness, disregard of all rules, and sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence: in other words, it is war without the shooting. George Orwell (1948/1968). The sporting spirit. Collected essays, journalism and letters of George Orwell, vol. 4. London: Secker and Warburg. INTRODUCTION Human aggression means different things to different people, that depend from the field where the aggression is shown. In the sports world, the political arena or the business community, assertive behavior is often taken to be synonymous with aggression (Gordon W. Russel 2008) With the problems of behavior of individual people usually deal Behaviorism and according to that theory behavior of person depends on the emotions, circumstances and feelings. Aggression is one of such emotional states. One of the factors that defines personality is the level of his aggression or stiffness, which is basically the antonym of charity. Aggressiveness has different manifestations. Most of the relationship between violence and sports in the ancient world, derived from the connection between the ancient sport and war. • 47. Changes Within The Workplace After The Economy,... Changes in the workplace due to the economy, technology, and globalization have affected many lives in modern day society. In addition, managerial approaches have influenced changes organizations have faced throughout the years, which tend to affect an organization s workforce. For example, some of the changes organizations have had to encounter have been around the following, but are not limited to employee productivity, employee and organizational inefficiency, employee s personal and professional value, and organizational structure to name a few. Furthermore, managerial approaches going back centuries have molded certain expectations people and organizations have of each other. For example, many individuals during the industrial era had an expectation to contribute to his or her household at a young age. The feeling of this type of obligation at times in today s society are seen, but are not as prevalent. Instead of young people focusing on their studies, and skill set, they often have to find employment that he or she initially do not want to do, which often times leads to entry level positions that are typically left. Allowing managers to often alienate and exploit the employee. What this often leads to in organizations is the ineffective managerial approaches often throwing the human element out the window. Through alienating employees, it denies him or her meaningful work, which in turns reduces opportunities for growth. The exploitation of employees occurs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
