cycle. They can be winged or wingless, and have red eyes or white eyes. The different options are
called alleles. Alleles are the variants of a specific gene, and one is received from each parent on each

composer, Felix Mendelssohn was born on February 3, 1809, in Hamburg. Germany. As a son of
Moses Mendelssohn, who was a successful banker, Mendelssohn was born into a very wealthy family,
which gave him certain advantages such as providing him a rich and ideal cultural setting for his
artistic mind to flourish. His received good education as well. While Mendelssohn s father disliked
Jews that converted from Judaism to Christianity to gain social acceptance outside of the jewish
ghettos, Felix still ended up following Christianity, and even baptized his whole family in the name of
Jesus. When Mendelssohn was a child, his family moved to Berlin where he would meet Ludwig
Berger. Felix took piano lessons from Berger and also studied from Karl Zelter on compositions. In
the early 19th century, Mendelssohn quickly established himself as prodigy and displayed an interest

In this paper I will present an argument against free will and then I will defend a response to that
argument. Free will is defined as having the ability to make our own choices. Some will argue that all
of our decisions have already been dictated by our desires therefore we never actually truly make our

the premise that states we have no control over what we desire. I will defeat this premise by showing
how one does have control over his/her desires through the idea of self control. I will then defend my

what you do is always determined by what you have the strongest desire to do, but you have no
