The Impact of the Three Principles of the People on China...
We shall establish a united Chinese Republic in order that all the peoples Manchus, Mongols,
Tibetans, Tartars and Chinese should constitute a single powerful nation.... Such a nationalism is
possible, and we must pursue it. Sun Yat sen, Three Principles of the People. Countless nationalists
across the world seek for the rights Dr. Sun Yat sen stated in his Principles. Sun Yat sen was born
in Cuiheng, a small village in Guangzhou Province, during the Qing Dynasty in 1866. At this time,
the Qing was slowly declining. The Taiping Rebellion, an unsuccessful, large scale revolt against
the Qing dynasty led by Hong Xiuquan, threatened the survival of the empire, the Confucian
system. The ascension of the two year old Emperor Puyi also made... Show more content on

Because of this, Sun stated that a modern and ideal government system must be established. Sun
had his new government system divided into two powers: the power of politics and the power
of governance. The powers of politics are the rights of the people to express their political
wishes. An example of this today is Britain s Parliament s House of Commons. Sun declares that
the people have four major rights or civil rights, which are: election, recall, initiative, and
referendum (ABC CLIO Sun Yat sen ). Election means the right to vote, recall is the right to
remove an elected official from power, initiative is the right to petition and referendum is the
right to refer measures passed by the legislative branch to the approval or rejection of the
electorate. The second power was the power of governance or the power of the officials. Sun
proposed the use of a five branch government system within the power of governance, including
the three branch system of the U.S. (Legislative, Judicial and Executive), the use of checks and
balances, as well as two other branches: Control Branch (similar to the Censorate Branch) and the
Examination Branch (similar to the branch responsible for the Civil Service Exams). The Second
Principle of the People was meant to represent a Western style of government (ABC CLIO Sun
Yat sen ). The last principle of Sun s Three Principles of the People is the development of

What Makes Good People Do Bad Things By Susan Dittman
Describing someone with the word evil refers to them committing an action that is considered
immoral and malicious. Evil people pull off these type acts: robbing a bank, violent killings of
living creatures, and even mental abuse through verbal or physical actions. Many people always
wonder, what was the initial purpose of committing such inhumane actions? They may say hatred,
anger, and revenge are some of the causes of evil. Although these traits do cause the idea of evil in
an individual, the inspiration for iniquitous intents is in fact sprouted through the unideal human
traits of apathy and ego.
One of the human traits that cause evil is apathy; for it makes people not consider the other
individuals feelings and security. Every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example is in fact in our society. In modern society, people tend to act as bystanders,
people who don t pay attention to their surroundings. Take into the account of witnessing the
scenarios of someone being bullied and a homeless man begging for money. In the bullying
scenario, most of the time, the people acting like bystanders do nothing about the situation at
hand. Typically, the right idea is to address the stakes at hand, whether calling for help or even
putting oneself out there. Unfortunately, our society ignores the fact of another human is being
verbally or physically abused. We tend to be in our own little worlds when we encounter an
event such as bullying due to the fact we feel as if there isn t a way we can help. Instead of
helping a fellow peer with a challenge, we re afraid to put ourselves out there. We refuse because
we mainly care for our well being or we simply don t believe we have what it takes to fix the
situation; this leads to the feeling of apathy. The homeless person scenario is no different. When a
homeless person begs for money, the common courtesy is to of course contribute any amount of
money towards the homeless man; however, this concept

Employee Performance And Achievement Of Organisational Goals
1 Introduction: 1.1 Background: Employee behaviours could often have an impact on
organisational performance and achievement of organisational goals. In any organisation, its
members could display varied behaviour where minimalists would contribute just enough to
maintain affiliation while others may exhibit overt and discretionary behaviour which is beyond
their stipulated job description and likely to benefit the organisation (Turnipseed and Rassuli:
2005). This latter behaviour where the employee goes the extra mile proactively engaging in
such activities has been described by various nomenclatures such as Organisational Citizenship
Behaviour (OCB) by Organ (1988) as cited in Organ (1997), pro social organisational behaviour
(Brief and Motowidlo: 1986), contextual performance (Borman and Motowidlo: 1993) and extra
role behaviour (Van Dyne et al: 1995). OCB has been one of the important and popular research
subjects in the recent years. It emphasizes on the most preferred employee level outcomes at
workplace (Bateman and Organ 1983, Smith et al 1983, Anderson and Williams: 1996). Although
the concept of OCB was proposed by Bateman and Organ in the early 1980s, the origins of this
concept could be traced back to early 1960s when Katz recognized three distinct behavioural entities
for the proficient functioning of an organisation. This includes induction and retention of the
workforce in the organisation, employees performing specific dependable job roles in addition to

Reflection On The Long Chain Reflection
Connects: The Long Chain Reflection In the movie, I thought the story of the chain of events
leading to the various chemical discoveries was very interesting. For most of the discoveries, It
was not a straightforward process in which the intention behind the formation of the new product
coincided with its practical use. There were a lot of discoveries made for one purpose, but ended
up being implemented for a different purpose. Not only that, but there were several products
which led to subsequent discoveries in completely unrelated fields. I thought it was interesting
how the history of the development of polymers began with the intention of creating a protective
coating for the hull of cargo ships, and eventually gave way to products like, clothing dyes,
alternative forms of light, fertilizers, etc.. Throughout the movie, it seemed that when a need
emerged in the world, the chemists of the time went about trying to find a solution. This then
created a domino effect because once one need was met, it would usually affect something else,
creating another need to fulfil. For example, the color dye industry boomed in Germany because
of the discovery of the first artificial aniline dye by William Perkin. This was followed by a
growth in the population. The growth in population caused a food crisis, which needed to be solved
by the inventionof fertilizer. As a result, calcium carbide and the Haber Bosch process were
invented. The product from the Haber Bosch

One Writer s Beginnings Eudora Welty Analysis
In One Writer s Beginnings, Eudora Welty shares memories about reading as a child and how it
caused her to become a writer fiction. To express the intensity and value of said memories, Welty
uses different forms of figurative language. Welty uses diction and pathos to express the worth and
potency of her memories relating to reading.
In order to show the value and strength of past memories about reading, Eudora Welty uses
nostalgia. Welty recollects about a scary librarian, Mrs. Calloway, and how she used to have
rules about books. Welty states, You could not take back a book to the library on the same day...
you could only take out two books. According to Welty these rules did not stop her from reading;

Types And Diagnosis Of Depression
In a world today where antidepressant medications seem to be handed out like candy, could it be
that not every person who says they are depressed needs medication? Is a full on antidepressant
the best solution for a person who is displaying the symptoms of a very mild form of depression?
In order to explore this topic more fully, we must establish the definition and diagnosis of
depression. According to the DSM V, depression is defined and diagnosed with at least five of
the following symptoms during a two week period: Depressed most of the day, nearly every day
Markedly diminished interest or pleasure in all or almost all activities most of the day nearly
every day Significant weight loss/gain or increase/decrease in appetite when no dieting is present
Insomnia or hypersomnia nearly every day Psychomotor agitation or retardation nearly every day
Fatigue or loss of energy nearly every day Feelings of worthlessness or excessive or inappropriate
guilt Diminished ability to think, concentrate, or indecisiveness nearly every day Recurrent
thoughts of death, recurrent suicidal ideation without a specific plan, or suicideattempt or a specific
plan for committing suicide
These symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other
important areas of functioning. The symptoms are not due to the direct physiological effects of a
substance or a general medical condition (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).

Difference Between Social Media And Media
Gurung3
Karma Chheten Gurung Professor Sharifian Govt 2305 71013 10/25/2017 Social Media and
the USA Presidency As we all know that social media has been one of the best source for proper
means of communication, people have been using it to communicate with each other, and not
only that but they are posting various things on social media as well. 1 Twitter and Facebook are
one of the most popular social media which are used by most of the people. It has been widely
popular that even celebrities and politician uses them on a regular basis. The only difference
between normal people using a social media and celebrities or politician using a social media is
that the politician or celebrities have to be more careful while posting their thoughts. They are
the famous people in the society and are followed by most people. Their posts are been looked
upon by thousands of people and are criticized as well. If one s post something that is very
unacceptable or offending than his/her reputation is going to fall way beyond the line. As they
are represented as the successful person in the society, they have to be very careful on taking
every steps in their life because people will be watching them every time trying to make a
headline. Same goes to the elected leaders because we have seen them being active on social media
where they are talking about different topics and posting about it.
I think that the social media is a great platform for the politicians to communicate with the citizens

Effects Of The Stock Market Crash Of 1929
The 1920s went into American History as the most controversial decade (Geisst, 2012 p. 146).
Nobody could have foreseen at the beginning of 1929 what importance this year would have for the
financial market (Wigmore, 1975 p. 4).
The booming 20s were drastically ended by the Stock Market crash of 1929. It went down in
history as one of the worst economic downturns (Termin, 1976 p. xi). The panic at the stock market
which led to many people trying to sell their stocks started on Wednesday, October 23 (Geisst,
2012 p. 185). Thursday, October 24, 1929 has gone into history as Black Thursday (Geisst, 2012 p.
185). The whole stock market lost 30 percent of its value before the end of the year 1929

179). De Long and Shleifer (1990 p. 3) estimate that the stock market in 1929 was one third
overvalued. Common stocks seemed to be running out in 1929 (Galbraith, 1977 p. 69).
Therefore because of the shortage of stocks, prices rose to sky high levels (Galbraith, 1977 p
69). It cannot be proven that stocks were overrated at the time of the crash. Yet there is prove
that speculative gamblers are not to be blamed for the crash. Knowledgeable investors were just
too optimistic in the stocks and therefore this led to the burst (Bierman, 1991 p 175). Laura
Agadoni supports this cause in her research paper (Agadoni, n.d). It was not seen at first hand in
October 1929 if stocks were overvalued. The market functioned well; investors and speculators
were buying stocks (Bierman, 1997 p.

Traction Alopecia In Children
Children are just as susceptible to traction alopecia as adults are. The causes of traction alopecia
in children are similar to grown ups. Hairstyles such as pigtails, cornrows and braiding the hair
can cause hair loss in kids. When a child s hair is repeatedly styled tightly, over a period of time hair
follicles become damaged and incapable of producing healthy hairs. The hair folliclemay become so
damaged that it stops producing hairs altogether. Hair loss occurs in the areas of the scalp that are
pulled the most, usually at the front hair line, the nape of the neck and crown.
Traction alopecia in children can be treated in a similar fashion to the way it is treated in adults. In
fact children have a much better chance of regrowing hair ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Getting into the habit of gently massaging the child s scalp will speed up their hair regrowth. It is
best to use a lubricating agent such as oil to eliminate any friction which may cause further
damage to the scalp or hair follicles. Bhringaraj oil or virgin coconut oil make excellent massage
oils for the scalp and can also double up as deep conditioning hair treatments.
Following these rules will ensure more hair doesn t fall out because of the excessive force applied
to the hair follicles and that further harm isn t caused to the follicles by the use of inappropriate hair
products. Stick with gentle products and stimulate hair growth by increasing scalp circulation
through regular massages to give the hair follicles a chance to heal themselves and start producing

The Metamorphosis Theme
The Metamorphosis by Kafka presents readers with an intensely claustrophobic and absurd
premise featuring a protagonist that is so used to living like an insect and so consumed with guilt
that these elements of his life finally take over and lead to his demise. In this world Kafka creates,
Gregor lives like an insecteven before his metamorphosis and this theme is developed at the
beginning of the story when he wakes up to find that he has become what he most resembled in his
life.
The idea of guilt and scurrying about to please others figures prominently in this text and it is
useful to look at the ways in which a compounding sense of guilt leads to Gregor s final resignation
to death in Kafka s short story, The Metamorphosis. For a man ... Show more content on

His fate, it seems, is to provide for his family and there are several instances in which he laments
his inability to provide for his mother, father, and dear sister. The narrator states, revealing one
of these themes in The Metamorphosis , Gregor s sole desire was to do his utmost to help the
family to forget as soon as possible the catastrophe which had overwhelmed the business and
thrown them all into a state of complete despair (95) and this sense of blind duty compels him to
work a meaningless, menial job that has both figuratively and literally turned him into a filthy,
scuttling, and helpless insect. While this is true on a more basic level, the root of Gregor s
problem stems from a deep seated feeling of guilt, an emotion that eventually leads to his
demise. By the end of the story, Gregor has completely lost his purpose and for a man that once
existed simply as a utilitarian creature (again, like an insect since he lives only to fulfill his duty
to the group). At one point, his feelings of uselessness are described as, Gregor was now cut off
from his mother, who was perhaps nearly dying because of him; he dared not open the door for
fear of frightening his sister, who had to stay with her mother, there was nothing he could do but
wait; and harassed by self reproach and worry he began to crawl to and fro (109) and it is clear
that the guilt of being useless is mounting and leading to his resignation in the face of

Examination of The History of the Ojibway People by William W. Warren
The goal of this paper is to provide an examination of the book The History of the Ojibway People
by William W. Warren as well as express some of what I learned about the book, the author and the
Ojibway people. William W. Warren
, born of a white father and Ojibway mother, used his fluent
familiarity with the Ojibway language and his tremendous popularity with both whites and Indians
to document the traditions and oral statements of the Ojibway people at a time when the future of
their existence was in jeopardy.

In 1851 he was asked to write a series of articles for The Minnesota Democrat newspaper on the
Ojibway people. These articles were the beginning stages of what became The History of the
Ojibway People . William wrote several articles for the newspaper and eventually finished the
manuscript for the first, of what was to be a many volume series of books on the Ojibway people,
in 1853. Upon returning home from a trip to a New York publisher, William Warren died of a
severe hemorrhage at the young age of 28.
Although William died before he could finish all of the volumes he planned and before he could
get the work published, 32 years later, the Minnesota Historical Society first published the work as
an early and unique contribution to the field of Ojibway history and culture. As stated in the
introduction, written by W. Roger Buffalohead,
This book offers intriguing reading, full of tantalizing tales. One can only wonder how much
more would be known about the Ojibway today if Warren had been able to finish his other
volumes, instead of carrying his knowledge of his people into an early grave (p.xiii).
Warren s success can be attributed to the the high regard and popularity that he, the young man of
mixed Ojibway and Euro American heritage, enjoyed among both Ojibway and white people. Again,
Buffalohead states, It is true that Warren won the friendship, trust, and confidence of tribal
members throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin; it is also certain that he was

Natural Law Theory Vs Utilitarianism
In this paper, I will argue that a combination of Natural Law Theory and Utilitarianism best captures
what should be required in terms of respecting natural rights.
One of the benefits of Utilitarianism is that it looks at what we ought to do, not must do, while
keeping in mind the consequences of our actions. On the negative side, all consequences, short term
and long term, must be considered, often making it very difficult to make the ultimately correct
decision, since seeing the future is not a human attribute. Who is to determine what is best? The
easy answer is the majority, but this could result in the tyranny of the majority. One of Natural Law
Theory s benefits is that it uses reason to determine social and personal human nature to ... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Utilitarianism is mainly about what ought to be done, when what ought to be done is
decided by the majority, and goes against what the minority believes to be right, the tyranny of the
majority is pushed onto the minority. As an example, prior to the 1980 s it was common to smoke
in public, at work, and in restaurants. American society s norms changed, and smoking was no
longer approved of by the majority. The result was that millions of smokers, unable or unwilling to
quit, were forced to give up their freedom of smoking. While argument that smoking is unhealthy is
valid, smoking was acceptable for over 200 years in America. This also happened with alcohol, with
the 18th Amendment banning it in 1920, and Marijuana being outlawed in 1937.
While on the surface the argument that Natural Rights Theory could lead to anarchy sounds
plausible, and Bentham and Burke may have had cause to state so, eventually the turmoil that may
at first seem to be anarchy, eventually does settle down as social contracts are developed, and
governments created. The American Revolution may have seemed like anarchy at the time, but it
did develop into a constitutional republic that is now 240 years old. While France also went
through some anarchical times in the 1790 s, and did revert to a monarchy for a time, France is
still around

A Separate Peace A person begins to develop competitive qualities at a young age. Rivalry or
competition tends to affect relationships and understanding which ultimately leads to hostility. It is
human nature for people to be ruthless for personal gain. This concept of inhumanity is developed
in A Separate Peace as the main character Gene battles competitively with his best friend Phineas.
In chapter two, Phineas had the idea to climb a tree and jump from it into the Naguamsett River.

Male And Female Roles In The 1800 s
Male and female roles have been changing as time goes on over the years. Women have fought

women have fought for rights such as voting and being able to work in the same workforce as
men do. Men used to believe women should stay at home and not go to work, but instead they
should do household chores such as cleaning, cooking, and tending to the children. Male and

the Babylonian system of astrology and the Greeks shaped it into its modern form. It was through
studyings of Plato, Aristotle and others that Babylonian astrology was introduced to the Greeks in
the 4th century B.C.. The Greeks borrowed the occasional component from the Babylonian
structure in order to invent their own system. It is the Greeks who ... Show more content on

The Role Of Education In The Developing World
Education in the Developing World
Is education a basic human right? According to Article 26 of the United Nation s Universal
Declaration of Human Rights, yes. It states that everyone should have access to free primary
education and equal opportunity access to higher education. Unfortunately, in many places around
the world, access is limited either monetarily or governmentally, and even when it is available, a
lack of resources or a lack of proper educators can severely limit the quality of the education. As
many as 115 million primary age children around the world are not currently in school, and of those
who are in school, over 226 million never attend secondary school. In some parts of Africa the
literacy rate in children is below fifty percent. Let s take a look at one developing country in
particular, South Africa, which is considered to have one of the worst education systems on the
planet.
South Africa s education system is broken into three parts: elementary schooling, secondary
schooling, and tertiary schooling. According to the Organisation for Economic Co operation and
Development, only about seven percent of South Africans achieve tertiary schooling. As of 2013,
South Africa houses 25,720 schools for almost 12.5 million people. That s nearly one in four
people in some form of education. It makes sense, as primary schooling is required by law for
children between the ages of seven and fifteen. Yet of those who go to school twenty seven percent

Carl Sandburg and How He was Influenced by Walt Whitman
Carl Sandburg and Walt Whitman had very similar lives. They both came from working class
families and neither one of them went to high school or graduated college. They learned from
watching people and by reading books on their own. They both had a certain sense for the world
that made them able to see what was going on around them and grasp its significance. Although
Whitman was born sixty years before Sandburg there were still a lot of the same things happening
in America and they both picked up on one important factor of the time, that of the average
working class man. Whitman and Sandburg admired the working class man for all of his hard work
and they wrote a lot about this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

States with hundreds and thousands of mouth songs, fit for The States only.
From this poem one can feel the compassion that Whitman has for the common American
workingman. He has much respect for him and believes that he is what makes up America and
what causes America to keep on moving. He portrays the workers to all be singing to emphasize
that they are proud of the work that they do. Whitman and Sandburg both enjoy going through
and naming each of the workers separately in order to display the vast number of people who fall
into the working class. In the poem above you can see how Whitman talks about how the
different workers enjoy their jobs and are happy with the talents that they have in their
specialized positions. The last line of part 1 demonstrates how the workers leave their work and
are able to relax and enjoy their lives at night when the work day is over. The second part of I hear

Brain And Long-Term Memory Essay
I am invited over to my best friend s house for pizza and a friendly game of cards. While doing so,
multiple parts of the brain are being used such as Broca s area, the hippocampus, the hypothalamus,
and the occipital lobe. Broca s area is the region of the brain that contains motor neurons that play a
part in controlling speech. The hippocampus is involved in learning and memory. They
hypothalamus regulates the amount of hunger we contain. Whereas, the occipital lobe contains the
visual centers of the brainand plays a role with all the aspects. When I first arrive to my friend s
house, I will be conversing with everyone there. This is where the Broca area will become
involved. The Broca area is located in the frontal part of the left hemisphere of the brain which
serves a vital role in our speech. In this particular situation, the Broca area will assist me in

The hippocampus is located in the brain s medial temporal lobe, near the center of the brain. This
part of the brain is involved with the storage of long term memory. Therefore, when I have begun
to socialize with my friends and playing cards with them, the hippocampus will allow for everyone
to form immediate and long term memories of that evening. After a while of socializing, my
friends and I will begin to feel hungry. This is the point in which the hypothalamus becomes
involved. It is located below the thalamus and right above the brain stem. One of the main purposes
of the hypothalamus is to control our food and water intake as well as hunger and thirst.
Accordingly, this is the part of the brain that is responsible for letting us know when everyone is
hungry or full. So, when the pizza arrives, the hypothalamus will let us know that we are hungry.
After we have eaten a good amount, it will let us know that we are full and have had

The Basic Characteristics Of Ip V4
Throughout chapters 5 through 8, many topics have been discussed in class and practiced on
lab days. Starting off with chapter 5, OSI Network Layer: various topics are discussed which
include; IP v4, the Network Layer, to routing tables. The basic characteristics of IP v4 are that it
is connectionless, the best effort is unreliable and is unaware of the quality of its job, and it is
also media independent. Time to Live (TTL) is the 8 bit TTL field that describes the maximum
hops that a packet can take before it is considered lost , which means that the packet is
undeliverable. Each time a packet visits a router, the TTL decreases by 1. If the packet reaches a 0
TTL, it is dropped. When a packet is dropped this helps the internet... Show more content on

The routing table is a table that stores information about connected and remote networks, and it has
three features. The three features of a routing table are 1) destination network, 2) next hop and 3)
metric. Packets are unable to be forwarded by the router without a route. If a route that is
representing the destination network is not on the routing table, the packet will not be forwarded,
and instead will be dropped. When the router is forwarding a packet, it uses the default route, which
is used when the network is not represented by any other route in the routing table. On the other
hand, static routing is the route that information can be manually configured on in the router. Static
routes are reliable and the router does not need to use much overhead to process the packets that are
being transferred viz static routing. However the static routes do not update automatically, and they
have a higher continuing administrative cost. Dynamic routing was another routing type that was
taught in chapter 5. Dynamic routing is when routers can also learn about routes automatically from
other routers in the same internetwork Dynamic routing has higher router processing overhead but
little administrative cost after initial setup. The following chapter that was taught was chapter 6,
addressing the Network IPv4. There are three types of communication that were talked about at the
beginning of the chapter, Unicast, Broadcast, and

Paris Was Becoming The World s Hub For Art Innovators
Beginning towards the end of the nineteenth century, Paris was becoming the world s hub for art
innovators; a place that is widely regarded as the birthplace of modern art. Artists of all disciplines,
from sculptors to musicians, made their way to this city to pursue their passions in a community of
like minded and passionate individuals. These artists came from all over the world, in a time before
the world was made flat with commercial aviation. Once they arrived, they often found themselves
in suboptimal living conditions, sometimes even lacking running water. Despite these obstacles,
Montmartre, a hillside neighborhood on the north bank of Paris, managed to draw an impressive
artistic crowd, and would eventually foster the birth of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of artistic suppression was happening all over the world in varying degrees. It drove
many artists out of their homelands to places that were more accepting of their artistic expression.
Although Kandinsky didn t find himself in the company of the cubists of Montmartre, his story
demonstrates the artistic atmosphere of the world at the time. Many artists were eager to find a
haven where they could freely express themselves in the company of like minded individuals, and
to many of them, that place was Montmartre. Although there were certainly critics of modern
artists within Paris itself, their general response to the artistic pioneers was more akin to arrogant
dismissal as opposed to the outright suppression of places such as Russia. Another factor to
consider is the somewhat overlooked economic theory of knowledge spillover. As described by
Jane Jacobs in the 1960 s, it explains the obscure rise of particular industries in certain cities. This
concept seeks to prescribe a name to the process of like minded individuals who live together in a
community sharing ideas with each other in casual conversations and various other exchanges.
Some examples include the steel industry of Pittsburgh, the technology industry of San Francisco,
and more pertinently, the art industry in Paris at the turn of the twentieth century. The theory
claims that innovations arise most quickly in areas

Different Types Of Assessments Educators
There are many different types of assessments educators will use to assess their students. The two
main assessments this paper will be discussing are formative and summative. Formative
assessments are complete as students are learning, while summative assessment are completed at
the end of learning (exam). The formative assessmentspecifically concentrates on observing the
students progress and response during instruction (Black, et al., 2003). This assessment allows the
students to receive instant feedback during their learning development. The summative assessment
focusses on confirming what the students have learned at the conclusion of a lesson or at the end of
the term (Wiggins, 1998). This assessment assists in the decision of what instructional and learning
goals were met. Alternative assessments need to be completed, due to not all students are capable
of showing what they comprehend on all assessments. Some students are too young to even take a
summative assessment.
Formative/Summative Assessments Mrs. Muscato uses the Brigance assessment. This assessment
used specifically with children from birth to the first grade and required by her school district.
Early childhood students assessments need to be simplified due to their age. When the class is
working at the calendar the educator can ask questions about the day, date, or pattern. The educator
needs to remember to give feedback immediately. A summative assessment in this age group
includes space to add

Laertes And Hamlet Foils In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Many Shakespearean plays reflect views of the time in which they were written. They convey this
through common themes. These themes often define a character s specific personality and
characteristics. In Shakespeare s Hamlet, Laertes serves as a foil for Hamlet in which their contrast
presents pivotal themes that reveal Hamlets character. While the play has many themes, morality,
revenge, and honor specifically relate to the contrast between Laertes and Hamlet, consequently
resulting in Laertes purpose as a foil for Hamlet.
Hamlet s religion shapes his view on morality, ultimately guiding many of his actions regarding
death. Hamlet is a afraid of life after death as demonstrated by his reluctance to kill Claudius during

Hamlet realizes how slow and hesitant he is to kill Claudius following the actor s performance. He
proclaims O, what a rogue and peasant slave am I:/ Is it not monstrous that this player here,/ But in

working all his visage wann d,/ Tears in his eyes, distraction in s aspect,/ A broken voice, and his

stems from watching an actor portray more emotion than he has in his quest for vengeance. Like
Hamlet, Laertes wants to avenge his father, but does it in a much more passionate way. Laertes
demonstrates his passionate response through That drop of blood that s calm proclaims me

Hamlet s revenge appear weak and hesitant. Hamlet and Laertes view honor very differently and
through different lenses. Laertes views family honor as a necessity, but views religious or moral
honor indifferently. Hamlet believes that

Mr. Hamilton was especially interested in France and England. He came to realize that it was
England s economic structure that would provide him with a sturdy basis for creating an
acceptable economic system. (Todd 1 2)
The First Bank of United States 1791 to 1811. Mr. Hamilton urged Congress to adopt the model
he had come up with, which included one national bank that would hold the federal government
s deposits and would lend to the government and business. Though there was much opposition,
the proposal was accepted but the bank s charter was given a 20 year limit. The bank, known as
First Bank or Bank of United States, helped to bring the economy of the country together.
However, it was a private institution where foreigners owned 70 percent of the bank and this
concerned the citizens of the United States. When the charter was up for renewal it was rejected
and the bank was closed in 1811. ( First Bank of the United States 1 16)

In order to embrace constructivism in the classroom one must first ask, what is learning, how do
students learn, and how should teachers teach?
Learning can be defined in many different ways. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines learning
as, knowledge or skill acquired by instruction or study and modification of a behavioral tendency
by experience Both definitions are needed when describing learning since both cognitive and
behavioral learning occur. In a constructivist classroom learning can be defined as, humans
construct[ing] knowledge and meaning from their experiences. (The University of Sydney) These
classrooms embraced learning more strongly than classrooms with a behaviorist orientation and far
better than classrooms with a laissez faire teacher (DiGiulio, 2004, p. 54).
Creativity and imagination are abundant among children, especially at the elementary school age.
Many philosophical approaches to education limit creativity and focus on following rules and
listening to instructions. Constructivist teachers refuse to limit students abilities providing students
with freedom of choice. Constructivism allows each student to learn in the style best suited for
them, whether that style is hands on learning, visual learning, or auditory learning, students want to
learn.
People learn in many different ways. The most common types of learners are listening, seeing, or
touch learners. Constructivism addresses all three of these learning styles. In a

Leisure Activitie Social Disengagement Theory
Objective The goal of this presentation is for you to understand that leisure programs are not just
about the activity itself, but about the social connections it provides for the attendees. Older age
is a transitional period when people experience changes not only in physical health but also in
social roles that can influence opportunities for social participation. Social connectedness is a key
component of healthy aging that should be promoted in recreational programming for older
adults. Key Messages Social disengagement theory is a classic social psychological view which
holds that older adults isolation results from a gradual and irreversible abandonment of social
roles, narrowing role sets, and the weakening of existing social bonds. This point of view is now
often contrasted with Activity and Continuity theories which note that older adults who adjust to
later life transitions by remaining socially active are happier and healthier. This is an exciting
transition as policies and programs begin to incorporate the idea of social connectedness, rather than
merely occupying the time of older adults. Leisure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Relationships, conversations and practicing new and old skills provides cognitive stimulation for
individuals. Leisure programs can also act as a support system for older adults, as well as
provide accountability. For example, many older adults who live alone have poor nutrition
because they do not enjoy eating alone, community dinners provide an opportunity to engage in
conversation, but it also increases the chance of the individual eating a proper and balanced meal.
Additionally, leisure programs can provide resources for individuals to find and receive the care
they need. These positive health outcomes suggest the prevention of social isolation is an important
step in increasing the quality of life of older people and reducing public expenditure on medical
costs for this

Sexual Assault On Teenage Girls
In a study that was documented in December 2014, for the period 1995 2013, females ages 18 to
24 had the highest rate of rape and sexual assault victimizations compared to females in all other
age groups (Langton Sinozich, p. 1). This report compared and described how sexual assault can
effect students and nonstudents, but it focused mainly on females with the male as the offender.
The findings are from the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) National Crime Victimization Survey
(NCVS), which collects information on nonfatal crimes reported and not reported to police against
persons age 12 or older (Langton Sinozich, 2014, p. 1). It is important to note that the statistics for

There is far too much of the whole victim blaming, glorification of sex, and lack of consideration
for a person. I believe if we focus on fixing how society functions during sexual assault cases,
then I believe we can decrease the rates of sexual assault by helping people become more
informed and by treating it as a serious issue. When it comes to punishments, they must be more
severe and certain or else things like this will continue to happen. We also need to focus on
getting those who are assaulted to let someone know. There are people here for them that can help,
even if they don t think they need help, they do. Sexual assault is a serious crime that affects both
females and males at any age. If we continue to see it as anything else, then it ll only get worse over
time which is not something that the world

The Controversy Of Rewarding Students
Rewarding students that maintain good grades with money is a terrible proposition. being
motivated by money alone is not the mentality anyone should have; life is not all about money . if
anything it should be used as a tool to provide for your needs and bless others . there must be a
deeper meaning to life than the all consuming impulse to possess more wealth. students should not
be recompensed with money because there is pressure to inflate grades, problems amongst students
and parents ,and the love for learningis not being provided. students who receive money for their
grades are not providing the love for learning .the bigger the reward, the more damage done.
students should be able to focus on the thrill of learning rather than consuming more wealth.

students are so focused on trying to conceive money that their dedication to get good grades is
not for their own good , more for the money . when it comes to tests or quizzes , students tend to
cheat when they aren t comprehending their assignment .that is not the proper way to pass or get
credit for a test . students feel as if their grades depends on getting the top SAT scores . it gets to
the point where students feel guilty when they cheat because they know it s wrong . but they feel
like it is important to get the grades they need . however, that pressure can be a good thing .
sometimes students need that tension from their parents or teachers in order to stay encouraged .
however, stressing about school at an early age is not something any adolescent should have to go
through often. money should not be the main focus of a student, it s not like money can buy life
success , intelligence or motivation(Amy Mccready) . therefor cash for grades should be put to a

Advantages Of Prep School
A prep school is a place for students to learn, grow, and practice skills that will help them be
successful later in life. They offer different possibilities for students, that other schools often
cannot or do not have available. While public schools are where the majority of students go, due
to a variety of factors, prep schools are frequently more beneficial than public schools. Prep
schools have better facilities and higher success rates, and are therefore superior to public schools,
despite what Holden experiences. A prep schoolis a school that offers a higher set of learning to its
students, through various advantages. They only accept the best of the best students, which is one
of the reasons that so many of their students go on to attend prestigious colleges as well (College
Admission from Prep Schools | Ivy Coach Admissions Blog). These schools are known for
offering diverse academic programming led by teacher scholars, many of whom hold advanced
degrees in their subject areas (The 50 Best Boarding Schools in the U.S). Holden Caulfield in the
novel Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger attended prep school, and although he disliked it
immensely, he still formed a close relationship with one teacher in particular. That teacher, Mr.
Antolini offers Holden a place to stay when he needs it, which shows the kind of bond formed
between teacher and student at a prep school, compared to a public school. Shamus Raham Khan

Buk Masks Research
Buk (Mask)
The buk, or mask, comes from the Mabuiag island in the Torres Strait. The Torres Strait is located
between Papua New Guinea and Australia, and contains hundreds of islands. The mask is made of
turtle shell, wood, fiber, feathers, and shell, and was created in the mid to late 19th century.
Intricate masks and figures made from plates of turtle shell are unique to the people of the Torres
strait. The majority of pieces that come from this area incorporate the use of the turtle shell in
some way. This mask is divided into three registers; the top containing feathers, the middle
containing the face and body of a bird, and the bottom containing a human face. The mask
includes certain decorative aspects that are stitched onto it, such as the curved pieces on the side

The war on Afghanistan and Iraq was a learning experience for the United States foreign policy. On
September 11th, 2001 nineteen Al Qaeda members hijacked four planes, two of which crashed into
the world trade center, another into the pentagon and the last into Shanksville, Pennsylvania
(Scholastic). The man who was behind this attack was Osama bin Laden and with refusal to hand
him over, the United Statesquickly prompted an attack on Afghanistan. The second war which
began in 2003 was due to the belief that Saddam Hussein had acquired weapons of mass

The war in Afghanistan which has become the longest war in American history has also become
one of the most expensive war in history behind the war in Iraq, which justifies the idea that the
United States is unable to manage their expenses and resources in times of war. The war which
has lasted for thirteen years along with two years of soldiers still stationed in Afghanistan has
caused America to invest a lot into the war against terror. The cost of the Afghanistan war alone
has reached almost 1 trillion dollars and counting. The Money has been used for military
defense, medical aid, reconstruction, and post war relief (PBS). All of these expenses are from
tax payer s dollars and money that was borrowed and comes with a hefty amount of interest, 124

approximately 20% of the total United States debt (Global Research). During this war money was
not being spent effectively, one example includes 6.5 million dollars on communication towers
that were never used. For the reconstruction of Afghanistan approximately 104 billion dollars was
used and a billions of dollars lost due to wasteful spending, fraud and corruption (MSNBC). Exact

Private Ryan Ethical Dilemma
Ethical Dilemma Paper
In the movie, Saving Private Ryan , by Steven Spielberg, there are a lot of moments in the video
that would raise an ethical dilemma issue. The one that stands out the most is when a squad of
Army Rangers that was involved in the Omaha Beach invasion, is ordered to cross through Nazi
occupied France to search and bring home the last surviving brother of the Ryan family, Private
First Class Ryan.
It raises an ethical dilemma because many would ask, why risk the lives of many for one? Does
risking the lives of a squad of United States (US) Army Rangers justify the means to save just one
US Private? What if you add that this one US Private is the last surviving member out of four
brothers? That if this last brother dies, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do I send in more men into danger to risk their lives to save one? Before I commit to a decision,
I would have to evaluate the situation, identify the ethical and moral conflicts involved in this
decision. Giving the order to send out the Rangers would not be in violation of any rules or
regulations, in fact, would back up the Army standards of leaving no person behind. Private Ryan
went in behind enemy lines as a paratrooper. As his platoon went into heavy fire, they lost
communication. The Army has a standard of sending in reinforcements to help fellow soldiers.
Now, seeing that family is important to the Army, and Private Ryan is the last in the family s
lineage, you can rule out moral conflict in the decision. You know that by saving this Soldier, would
alleviate the burden on the family. I would say that the family has contributed to the Army values,
selfless service, honor, and duty. They risked their lives in the goal of completing the mission.
I would give the order to send in a squad of Rangers to search and retrieve Private Ryan, based on
family virtues. Rangers are trained to go behind enemy lines undetected. They are highly skilled
soldiers, able to take on unconventional

How Does Sam Mendes Use Camera Angles In American Beauty
American Beauty
Respond critically to significant aspects of visual and/or text(s) through close reading, supported by
evidence.
Sam Mendes is an intelligent and sophisticated director who has created many award winning films
during his career. Some characteristics of his directorial style are; camera work with the specific
use of close up s and the zooming effect, lighting/colour to symbolise characters/items and use
sound to create tension and anticipation in the audience. I have chosen Mendes s 1999 masterpiece
American Beauty to study and analyse. This film has scenes that incorporate all of Mendes s
described characteristics and that help to give me a clear understanding of Mendes s directional
style.
Mendes uses the same camera work in both of the dining room scenes in American Beauty to
create tension with the audience and to emphasise characters expressions and emotions to the
viewers, leaving us in no doubt what each character is feeling. This allows the audience to
understand each character more effectively and as a result, it challenges us to think about how
we might feel in the same situation. A scene, in American Beauty, that Mendes uses effective
camera work to enhance the audiences view of the characters is the dining room scene that
features Lester, his wife Caroline and his daughter Jane. When the scene starts, Mendes uses a
background music that sounds just like elevator music; Beli high: musical Pacific, with close up
shots of pictures when Jane was younger and a vase full of red roses. However, as the scene
continues Mendes uses a wide shot to show the entire dining room, this frame was then gradual
zooming in up until the frame stopped in a position where you could see a mid shot of each
character sitting at the table. When the conversation had started from Lester the audience could
see how disengaged his wife and daughter were. They weren t interested in how his day went,
they only cared about themselves. When the close ups are on Lester, the audience gets a vivid
picture of a man who has lost his true self and who is already dead inside . Whereas when the
close ups are on Jane or Caroline, you see someone who is pained from the discomfort of certain
people around them Jane or

I am great at math. As of today, I have an overall grade of 96.0. To me, math is more of a hobby

One of my favorite videos by that channel is the video titled ASTOUNDING: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 +

numbers to one side of the balance (the equal sign) or the other, the student could solve the

In the fall of 2001, I started a band with three of my friends called Off and On. Through the
Internet, we accumulated fans in nearly every state before we even played a real show. When
we did finally release a four song demo, we made even more fans thanks to MP3.com, a website
that streams your songs free of charge. Up to that point, the Internet was our best friend.
Without any paid advertising or promotion, we went from no fans to many. Purevolume.com has
replaced MP3.com as the main provider for unsigned bands, and even some signed bands, who
want new listeners. The problem with illegal downloading starts at this exact moment in a band
s existence. When the band decides that they want to make a profit off of their material, many
kids who have grown up in the information age still feel that they are entitled to anything the
band releases. They will either burn the CD from a friend or download illegally. Both are new
concepts and neither helps the band directly. (Future CD sales and possible concert ticket
purchases are some possible indirect gains). For older bands, such as Green Day, who had to

  • 2. The Impact of the Three Principles of the People on China... We shall establish a united Chinese Republic in order that all the peoples Manchus, Mongols, Tibetans, Tartars and Chinese should constitute a single powerful nation.... Such a nationalism is possible, and we must pursue it. Sun Yat sen, Three Principles of the People. Countless nationalists across the world seek for the rights Dr. Sun Yat sen stated in his Principles. Sun Yat sen was born in Cuiheng, a small village in Guangzhou Province, during the Qing Dynasty in 1866. At this time, the Qing was slowly declining. The Taiping Rebellion, an unsuccessful, large scale revolt against the Qing dynasty led by Hong Xiuquan, threatened the survival of the empire, the Confucian system. The ascension of the two year old Emperor Puyi also made... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of this, Sun stated that a modern and ideal government system must be established. Sun had his new government system divided into two powers: the power of politics and the power of governance. The powers of politics are the rights of the people to express their political wishes. An example of this today is Britain s Parliament s House of Commons. Sun declares that the people have four major rights or civil rights, which are: election, recall, initiative, and referendum (ABC CLIO Sun Yat sen ). Election means the right to vote, recall is the right to remove an elected official from power, initiative is the right to petition and referendum is the right to refer measures passed by the legislative branch to the approval or rejection of the electorate. The second power was the power of governance or the power of the officials. Sun proposed the use of a five branch government system within the power of governance, including the three branch system of the U.S. (Legislative, Judicial and Executive), the use of checks and balances, as well as two other branches: Control Branch (similar to the Censorate Branch) and the Examination Branch (similar to the branch responsible for the Civil Service Exams). The Second Principle of the People was meant to represent a Western style of government (ABC CLIO Sun Yat sen ). The last principle of Sun s Three Principles of the People is the development of ... • 4. What Makes Good People Do Bad Things By Susan Dittman Describing someone with the word evil refers to them committing an action that is considered immoral and malicious. Evil people pull off these type acts: robbing a bank, violent killings of living creatures, and even mental abuse through verbal or physical actions. Many people always wonder, what was the initial purpose of committing such inhumane actions? They may say hatred, anger, and revenge are some of the causes of evil. Although these traits do cause the idea of evil in an individual, the inspiration for iniquitous intents is in fact sprouted through the unideal human traits of apathy and ego. One of the human traits that cause evil is apathy; for it makes people not consider the other individuals feelings and security. Every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example is in fact in our society. In modern society, people tend to act as bystanders, people who don t pay attention to their surroundings. Take into the account of witnessing the scenarios of someone being bullied and a homeless man begging for money. In the bullying scenario, most of the time, the people acting like bystanders do nothing about the situation at hand. Typically, the right idea is to address the stakes at hand, whether calling for help or even putting oneself out there. Unfortunately, our society ignores the fact of another human is being verbally or physically abused. We tend to be in our own little worlds when we encounter an event such as bullying due to the fact we feel as if there isn t a way we can help. Instead of helping a fellow peer with a challenge, we re afraid to put ourselves out there. We refuse because we mainly care for our well being or we simply don t believe we have what it takes to fix the situation; this leads to the feeling of apathy. The homeless person scenario is no different. When a homeless person begs for money, the common courtesy is to of course contribute any amount of money towards the homeless man; however, this concept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Employee Performance And Achievement Of Organisational Goals 1 Introduction: 1.1 Background: Employee behaviours could often have an impact on organisational performance and achievement of organisational goals. In any organisation, its members could display varied behaviour where minimalists would contribute just enough to maintain affiliation while others may exhibit overt and discretionary behaviour which is beyond their stipulated job description and likely to benefit the organisation (Turnipseed and Rassuli: 2005). This latter behaviour where the employee goes the extra mile proactively engaging in such activities has been described by various nomenclatures such as Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) by Organ (1988) as cited in Organ (1997), pro social organisational behaviour (Brief and Motowidlo: 1986), contextual performance (Borman and Motowidlo: 1993) and extra role behaviour (Van Dyne et al: 1995). OCB has been one of the important and popular research subjects in the recent years. It emphasizes on the most preferred employee level outcomes at workplace (Bateman and Organ 1983, Smith et al 1983, Anderson and Williams: 1996). Although the concept of OCB was proposed by Bateman and Organ in the early 1980s, the origins of this concept could be traced back to early 1960s when Katz recognized three distinct behavioural entities for the proficient functioning of an organisation. This includes induction and retention of the workforce in the organisation, employees performing specific dependable job roles in addition to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Reflection On The Long Chain Reflection Connects: The Long Chain Reflection In the movie, I thought the story of the chain of events leading to the various chemical discoveries was very interesting. For most of the discoveries, It was not a straightforward process in which the intention behind the formation of the new product coincided with its practical use. There were a lot of discoveries made for one purpose, but ended up being implemented for a different purpose. Not only that, but there were several products which led to subsequent discoveries in completely unrelated fields. I thought it was interesting how the history of the development of polymers began with the intention of creating a protective coating for the hull of cargo ships, and eventually gave way to products like, clothing dyes, alternative forms of light, fertilizers, etc.. Throughout the movie, it seemed that when a need emerged in the world, the chemists of the time went about trying to find a solution. This then created a domino effect because once one need was met, it would usually affect something else, creating another need to fulfil. For example, the color dye industry boomed in Germany because of the discovery of the first artificial aniline dye by William Perkin. This was followed by a growth in the population. The growth in population caused a food crisis, which needed to be solved by the inventionof fertilizer. As a result, calcium carbide and the Haber Bosch process were invented. The product from the Haber Bosch ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The only difference between normal people using a social media and celebrities or politician using a social media is that the politician or celebrities have to be more careful while posting their thoughts. They are the famous people in the society and are followed by most people. Their posts are been looked upon by thousands of people and are criticized as well. If one s post something that is very unacceptable or offending than his/her reputation is going to fall way beyond the line. As they are represented as the successful person in the society, they have to be very careful on taking every steps in their life because people will be watching them every time trying to make a headline. Same goes to the elected leaders because we have seen them being active on social media where they are talking about different topics and posting about it. Nobody could have foreseen at the beginning of 1929 what importance this year would have for the financial market (Wigmore, 1975 p. 4). The booming 20s were drastically ended by the Stock Market crash of 1929. It went down in history as one of the worst economic downturns (Termin, 1976 p. xi). The panic at the stock market which led to many people trying to sell their stocks started on Wednesday, October 23 (Geisst, 2012 p. 185). Thursday, October 24, 1929 has gone into history as Black Thursday (Geisst, 2012 p. 185). De Long and Shleifer (1990 p. 3) estimate that the stock market in 1929 was one third overvalued. Common stocks seemed to be running out in 1929 (Galbraith, 1977 p. 69). Therefore because of the shortage of stocks, prices rose to sky high levels (Galbraith, 1977 p 69). It cannot be proven that stocks were overrated at the time of the crash. Yet there is prove that speculative gamblers are not to be blamed for the crash. Knowledgeable investors were just too optimistic in the stocks and therefore this led to the burst (Bierman, 1991 p 175). Laura Agadoni supports this cause in her research paper (Agadoni, n.d). It was not seen at first hand in October 1929 if stocks were overvalued. The market functioned well; investors and speculators were buying stocks (Bierman, 1997 p. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hairstyles such as pigtails, cornrows and braiding the hair can cause hair loss in kids. When a child s hair is repeatedly styled tightly, over a period of time hair follicles become damaged and incapable of producing healthy hairs. The hair folliclemay become so damaged that it stops producing hairs altogether. The Metamorphosis Theme The Metamorphosis by Kafka presents readers with an intensely claustrophobic and absurd premise featuring a protagonist that is so used to living like an insect and so consumed with guilt that these elements of his life finally take over and lead to his demise. In this world Kafka creates, Gregor lives like an insecteven before his metamorphosis and this theme is developed at the beginning of the story when he wakes up to find that he has become what he most resembled in his life. The idea of guilt and scurrying about to please others figures prominently in this text and it is useful to look at the ways in which a compounding sense of guilt leads to Gregor s final resignation to death in Kafka s short story, The Metamorphosis. His fate, it seems, is to provide for his family and there are several instances in which he laments his inability to provide for his mother, father, and dear sister. While this is true on a more basic level, the root of Gregor s problem stems from a deep seated feeling of guilt, an emotion that eventually leads to his demise. By the end of the story, Gregor has completely lost his purpose and for a man that once existed simply as a utilitarian creature (again, like an insect since he lives only to fulfill his duty to the group). At one point, his feelings of uselessness are described as, Gregor was now cut off from his mother, who was perhaps nearly dying because of him; he dared not open the door for fear of frightening his sister, who had to stay with her mother, there was nothing he could do but wait; and harassed by self reproach and worry he began to crawl to and fro (109) and it is clear that the guilt of being useless is mounting and leading to his resignation in the face of ... Warren s success can be attributed to the the high regard and popularity that he, the young man of mixed Ojibway and Euro American heritage, enjoyed among both Ojibway and white people. Natural Law Theory Vs Utilitarianism In this paper, I will argue that a combination of Natural Law Theory and Utilitarianism best captures what should be required in terms of respecting natural rights. One of the benefits of Utilitarianism is that it looks at what we ought to do, not must do, while keeping in mind the consequences of our actions. On the negative side, all consequences, short term and long term, must be considered, often making it very difficult to make the ultimately correct decision, since seeing the future is not a human attribute. Since Utilitarianism is mainly about what ought to be done, when what ought to be done is decided by the majority, and goes against what the minority believes to be right, the tyranny of the majority is pushed onto the minority. As an example, prior to the 1980 s it was common to smoke in public, at work, and in restaurants. American society s norms changed, and smoking was no longer approved of by the majority. The result was that millions of smokers, unable or unwilling to quit, were forced to give up their freedom of smoking. While argument that smoking is unhealthy is valid, smoking was acceptable for over 200 years in America. This also happened with alcohol, with the 18th Amendment banning it in 1920, and Marijuana being outlawed in 1937. While on the surface the argument that Natural Rights Theory could lead to anarchy sounds plausible, and Bentham and Burke may have had cause to state so, eventually the turmoil that may at first seem to be anarchy, eventually does settle down as social contracts are developed, and governments created. The American Revolution may have seemed like anarchy at the time, but it did develop into a constitutional republic that is now 240 years old. The basic characteristics of IP v4 are that it is connectionless, the best effort is unreliable and is unaware of the quality of its job, and it is also media independent. Time to Live (TTL) is the 8 bit TTL field that describes the maximum hops that a packet can take before it is considered lost , which means that the packet is undeliverable. Each time a packet visits a router, the TTL decreases by 1. If the packet reaches a 0 TTL, it is dropped. When a packet is dropped this helps the internet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The routing table is a table that stores information about connected and remote networks, and it has three features. The three features of a routing table are 1) destination network, 2) next hop and 3) metric. Packets are unable to be forwarded by the router without a route. If a route that is representing the destination network is not on the routing table, the packet will not be forwarded, and instead will be dropped. When the router is forwarding a packet, it uses the default route, which is used when the network is not represented by any other route in the routing table. On the other hand, static routing is the route that information can be manually configured on in the router. Static routes are reliable and the router does not need to use much overhead to process the packets that are being transferred viz static routing. However the static routes do not update automatically, and they have a higher continuing administrative cost. Dynamic routing was another routing type that was taught in chapter 5. • 31. Paris Was Becoming The World s Hub For Art Innovators Beginning towards the end of the nineteenth century, Paris was becoming the world s hub for art innovators; a place that is widely regarded as the birthplace of modern art. Artists of all disciplines, from sculptors to musicians, made their way to this city to pursue their passions in a community of like minded and passionate individuals. These artists came from all over the world, in a time before the world was made flat with commercial aviation. Once they arrived, they often found themselves in suboptimal living conditions, sometimes even lacking running water. Despite these obstacles, Montmartre, a hillside neighborhood on the north bank of Paris, managed to draw an impressive artistic crowd, and would eventually foster the birth of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of artistic suppression was happening all over the world in varying degrees. It drove many artists out of their homelands to places that were more accepting of their artistic expression. Although Kandinsky didn t find himself in the company of the cubists of Montmartre, his story demonstrates the artistic atmosphere of the world at the time. Many artists were eager to find a haven where they could freely express themselves in the company of like minded individuals, and to many of them, that place was Montmartre. Although there were certainly critics of modern artists within Paris itself, their general response to the artistic pioneers was more akin to arrogant dismissal as opposed to the outright suppression of places such as Russia. Another factor to consider is the somewhat overlooked economic theory of knowledge spillover. As described by Jane Jacobs in the 1960 s, it explains the obscure rise of particular industries in certain cities. This concept seeks to prescribe a name to the process of like minded individuals who live together in a community sharing ideas with each other in casual conversations and various other exchanges. Some examples include the steel industry of Pittsburgh, the technology industry of San Francisco, and more pertinently, the art industry in Paris at the turn of the twentieth century. The two main assessments this paper will be discussing are formative and summative. Formative assessments are complete as students are learning, while summative assessment are completed at the end of learning (exam). The formative assessmentspecifically concentrates on observing the students progress and response during instruction (Black, et al., 2003). This assessment allows the students to receive instant feedback during their learning development. The summative assessment focusses on confirming what the students have learned at the conclusion of a lesson or at the end of the term (Wiggins, 1998). This assessment assists in the decision of what instructional and learning goals were met. Alternative assessments need to be completed, due to not all students are capable of showing what they comprehend on all assessments. Some students are too young to even take a summative assessment. Formative/Summative Assessments Mrs. Muscato uses the Brigance assessment. This assessment used specifically with children from birth to the first grade and required by her school district. This type of instruction, called essentialism, limits student s creativity. Students are unable to act independently from teacher expectations. Learning can be defined in many different ways. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines learning as, knowledge or skill acquired by instruction or study and modification of a behavioral tendency by experience Both definitions are needed when describing learning since both cognitive and behavioral learning occur. In a constructivist classroom learning can be defined as, humans construct[ing] knowledge and meaning from their experiences. (The University of Sydney) These classrooms embraced learning more strongly than classrooms with a behaviorist orientation and far better than classrooms with a laissez faire teacher (DiGiulio, 2004, p. 54). Leisure Activitie Social Disengagement Theory Objective The goal of this presentation is for you to understand that leisure programs are not just about the activity itself, but about the social connections it provides for the attendees. Older age is a transitional period when people experience changes not only in physical health but also in social roles that can influence opportunities for social participation. Social connectedness is a key component of healthy aging that should be promoted in recreational programming for older adults. Key Messages Social disengagement theory is a classic social psychological view which holds that older adults isolation results from a gradual and irreversible abandonment of social roles, narrowing role sets, and the weakening of existing social bonds. This point of view is now often contrasted with Activity and Continuity theories which note that older adults who adjust to later life transitions by remaining socially active are happier and healthier. This is an exciting transition as policies and programs begin to incorporate the idea of social connectedness, rather than merely occupying the time of older adults. Leisure... You know that by saving this Soldier, would alleviate the burden on the family. I would say that the family has contributed to the Army values, selfless service, honor, and duty. They risked their lives in the goal of completing the mission. I would give the order to send in a squad of Rangers to search and retrieve Private Ryan, based on family virtues. Rangers are trained to go behind enemy lines undetected. They are highly skilled soldiers, able to take on unconventional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. How Does Sam Mendes Use Camera Angles In American Beauty American Beauty Respond critically to significant aspects of visual and/or text(s) through close reading, supported by evidence. Sam Mendes is an intelligent and sophisticated director who has created many award winning films during his career. Some characteristics of his directorial style are; camera work with the specific use of close up s and the zooming effect, lighting/colour to symbolise characters/items and use sound to create tension and anticipation in the audience. I have chosen Mendes s 1999 masterpiece American Beauty to study and analyse. This film has scenes that incorporate all of Mendes s described characteristics and that help to give me a clear understanding of Mendes s directional style. Mendes uses the same camera work in both of the dining room scenes in American Beauty to create tension with the audience and to emphasise characters expressions and emotions to the viewers, leaving us in no doubt what each character is feeling. This allows the audience to understand each character more effectively and as a result, it challenges us to think about how we might feel in the same situation. A scene, in American Beauty, that Mendes uses effective camera work to enhance the audiences view of the characters is the dining room scene that features Lester, his wife Caroline and his daughter Jane. When the scene starts, Mendes uses a background music that sounds just like elevator music; Beli high: musical Pacific, with close up shots of pictures when Jane was younger and a vase full of red roses. However, as the scene continues Mendes uses a wide shot to show the entire dining room, this frame was then gradual zooming in up until the frame stopped in a position where you could see a mid shot of each character sitting at the table. When the conversation had started from Lester the audience could see how disengaged his wife and daughter were. They weren t interested in how his day went, they only cared about themselves. When the close ups are on Lester, the audience gets a vivid picture of a man who has lost his true self and who is already dead inside . Whereas when the close ups are on Jane or Caroline, you see someone who is pained from the discomfort of certain people around them Jane or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Triangles are the strongest shape. They have three sides and three vertices. The title of this essay has three words in it, meaning everything that comes in threes is perfect, or, every set of three is complete. Computers and technology, comfort, and mathematics all require me to think outside of the box. I enjoy comprehending on the exterior of the square because the task stretches my thought process. I apply math to things that are generally not associated with numbers. I prefer quantitative instead of qualitative. I do math in my free time. Math is fun. Math is great. Math is oddly satisfactory. Occasionally, when the channel releases a video that I think I would be interested in, I watch videos by Numberphile on YouTube. One of my favorite videos by that channel is the video titled ASTOUNDING: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + ... = 1/12 because it dives deep into theories, laws, and multiple aspects of mathematics to make me think outside of the box in order to comprehend the concept. When I was in second, third, fourth, and fifth grade, I was placed in a program at my elementary school called Venture. During the last three years of it, the teacher introduced the students to something called Hands On Equations. (H OE) They begin to teach a student multi step equations. Third grade was learning about the program. Fourth grade was solving problems. Fifth grade was for making connections between H OE and actual equations. The variable, x, is a blue pawn and the opposite of the variable is a white pawn, named star, and is shown as either x or *. By moving these pawns and blocks with numbers to one side of the balance (the equal sign) or the other, the student could solve the equation. Since there were few people in the Venture program, the teacher could have one on one instruction with the student. By making connections with H OE and y= equations, I thought outside of the box and exceeded in sixth grade ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through the Internet, we accumulated fans in nearly every state before we even played a real show. When we did finally release a four song demo, we made even more fans thanks to MP3.com, a website that streams your songs free of charge. Up to that point, the Internet was our best friend. Without any paid advertising or promotion, we went from no fans to many. Purevolume.com has replaced MP3.com as the main provider for unsigned bands, and even some signed bands, who want new listeners. The problem with illegal downloading starts at this exact moment in a band s existence. When the band decides that they want to make a profit off of their material, many kids who have grown up in the information age still feel that they are entitled to anything the band releases. They will either burn the CD from a friend or download illegally. Both are new concepts and neither helps the band directly.
