Rhetorical Analysis Mlk Letter from Birmingham Jail Essay
Martin Luther King s inspiration for writing his, Letter from Birmingham Jail was mainly to appeal to
an undeniable injustice that occurred during his time. His letter was in response tos eight white
clergymen, who objected to King protesting in Birmingham. Dr. King effectively crafted his
counterargument after analyzing the clergymen s unjust proposals and then he was able to present his
rebuttal. Dr. King effectively formed his counterargument by first directly addressing his audience, the
clergymen and then using logos, pathos and egos to present his own perspective on his opponent s
statements. The majority of the sentences in King s letter can be connected to logos, pathos or ethos
and his incorporation of appeals is masterful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of his examples are well known such as Hitler while others were not as popular. This appeals to
ethos because it demonstrates King s palate for quality education, proving his credibility. I began
thinking about the fact that I stand in the middle of two opposing forces in the Negro community. One
is a force of complacency, made up in part of Negroes who, as a result of long years of oppression, are
so drained of self respect and a sense of somebodiness that they have adjusted to segregation; and in
part of a few middle class Negroes who, because of a degree of academic and economic security and
because in some ways they profit by segregation, have become insensitive to the problems of the
masses. The other force is one of bitterness and hatred, and it comes perilously close to advocating
violence. It is expressed in the various black nationalist groups that are springing up across the nation,
the largest and best known being Elijah Muhammad s Muslim movement. Nourished by the Negro s
frustration over the continued existence of racial discrimination, this movement is made up of people
who have lost faith in America, who have absolutely repudiated Christianity, and who have concluded
that the white man is an incorrigible devil . In this passage, King s presentation of logos is genius. He
effectively shows the clergymen two sides of the community, the one of complacency and the other of
hatred and cynicism. In this excerpt he does not attempt

Rugby Team Reflection
Since the spring of my sophomore year, I have been tasked with leading a true motley crew. By others
this crew is called the Edina Rugby Club; however, I think of each and every one one of these young
men as brothers. Without the sport of rugby, I would not have had the great fortune of meeting so
many teammates of different distinctive personalities, backgrounds and ethnicity. There are kids from
the high school band to the math club to the varsity football team who make up this crew. Given the
responsibility to lead these young men, I have grown as a teammate and also as a human being. I have
developed the ability to respect everyone, regardless of who they are, where they are from, and what
they believe in. I learn from these young men and let them teach me different things about each of
their cultures that without rugby I might never have learned. When I consider each teammate, despite
different ethnicities and backgrounds, I see that they are no different than me. I have learned to respect
people not for where they come from or what they believe in, but for who they are and how they
conduct themselves as a young man. With that being said, I still have the utmost respect for each
individual s personal beliefs and history. However, as a leader I feel that if we can get by the
stereotypical norms of categorizing people we will find ourselves not only having greater success as
leaders but as a society as a whole. Ultimately, those who lead are responsible for teaching the

Addiction Is Not Necessary An Addiction
A study was conducted by Caroline Davis in 2014, in which she suggests, that food addiction, is not
necessary an addiction. Unlike other addictions like tobacco, gambling and drugs, food in required for
the human body to survive, where the other types are a pleasure centre for the brain in affect, and is
not necessary for human to survive.
An addiction is in which the brain responds to a stimulus, or multiple stimuli, that triggers a respond
to the brain, and releases, dopamine to the person creating a reward system to the user, thus increasing
the mood of the person. Therefore, allowing the brain to learn by teaching it to respond to increased
levels of dopamine, by the stimulus (pp.131). For example, the more a person gambles and wins, the
better they feel. Even so, there is a low point for people that gamble or takes drugs, but the need for
that persons is to increase their chances of winning, or getting a fix, where they could combine a mix
of food, alcohol, drugs and tobacco (pp.131). Which would make them feel good again, as once again,
as dopamine is released into the system.
According to Davis (2014) that food should not be thought of as addictive, as food is essential for
human survival and with a proper diet with all the vitamins and mineral that the body require humans
can live a healthy life (pp. 129). But even so food can be addictive as the process foods have many
compounds added to everyday foods that rewards the brain for eating it, therefore, a person will

The Pains Of Sleep By Robert Southey Essay
The couplets encompass the odd tension of The Pains of Sleep : the ending is both over long,
extending the natural length of the stanza by an additional two lines, and abrupt, answering the
universal despair of wherefore fall on me? with an admittedly lacklustre response. The insistent
repetition such , wherefore , love furthers the resounding resolution of the poem. Coleridge s draft of
the poem in a letter to Robert Southey suggests that there is potential for movement beyond the
declaration of the last line, for he affixes c c c c c onto the end of the line, and whilst a large portion of
the draft is altered for its publication in 1816, this line remains untouched. Perhaps the clue is in one
of the lines from The Pains of Sleep which is altered for its 1816 publication but exists in the draft
version sent to Southey as well: The self created Hell within. (Letter to Robert Southey, September 12
1803.) The unfathomable Hell within. ( The Pains of Sleep , line 46.) The poem can be seen as a
verbal translation of the self created Hell within : whilst the poem is structurally contained, the
unfathomable interior world it describes, and the claustrophobic blending of reality and unreality, all
contribute to it seeming incomplete upon interrogation. Coleridge rejects the universal question in
favour of a personal answer because the poem cannot adequately make sense of the distorted images it
contains. Unlike

Retinal Vascular Imaging Essay
Abstract
Retinal vascular imaging is useful in detecting Microvasular abnormalities. It shows several predictors
of diseases and potential for understanding other markers that might fit into what happens when we
age, develop a disease or health issue. Retinal and cerebral microvasculature have common
physiological properties. They are highly similar metabolic active tissues, and are homologous in
structure. There are at least two viewing forms for retinal vasculature 2D and 3D . 2D being more flat
while 3D shows outlines, fuller imager quality and in depth structures of the retina. Retinal imaging
has been helpful in several diagnoses of health such as hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, obesity
and the effects of aging. Outlook for retinal vascular imaging looks good as it is being applied to new
ideas and concepts.
Introduction
Microvasular veins are some of the small veins in our body, referred to as vessels that form a network
between the arterioles and venules located in the retina and body. The micro vasculatures of the brain
and retina have common physiological properties, they both have high metabolic active tissues,
similar embryological origins and are homologous (Meier, M. H. et al, 2013). Both vascular networks
share similar vascular regulatory processes (Lassen, 1964; Hardy et al. 1997; Delaey Van de ... Show

The City Of Florence First Place For A Movement Essay
Gathering of people form village, villages become town and it grows to become a city. For centuries,
city has acted as the centre for social, political changes since the dawn of history, especially after
Renaissance, where the city of Florence first demonstrate the power of individual can be attracted to
one location and become an iconic place for a movement. Since then, city has become the birthplace
for many movement socially, economically or politically, where against or comfort to oppression,
resistance of any kind, or leading revolution that changed the way of life around the world. To
investigate the reasons behind this relations, events throughout were being explored. The end of
seignorialism forces people to move to city for employment opportunity and therefore provided labour
force for mass labour and industrial revolution escalated the pace of urbanization. People forms city,
and each individual has their own opinion, therefore city is a place where the idea clashed and the new
ideology formed everyday, this is why city is the source of change. Since renaissance, the proportion
of population dwelling in urban area has been ever increasing, therefore in the city information
transfers faster, and there is a higher chance for people to rise up in the city than the country side, due
to the proximity. Some movements strengthen the role of the city and create a new way of life such as
Renaissance and industrial revolution, where it is taken in a non violent form and

Stereotypes In The Year 2000
Low cut jeans, halter tops, Von Dutch hats, and velour Juicy Couture tracksuits. Ed Hardy shirts, fake
Louis Vuitton handbags, and neckties as necklaces. Flare pants, chunky highlights, rhinestones, and
Baby Phat phone cases. Welcome to the year 2000. I bet many of you readers just got flashbacks. I
also bet many of you cringed and/or gasped in horror at said flashbacks. It s not an uncommon
reaction. Our own Andrea Klick summed it up when I told her my idea for this column: 2000s style is
disgusting! Indeed, most people would love to forget the aesthetic of this particular decade. The
transition from the oft lauded 90s to the big, fat, futuristic Y2K created a culture dominated by
Myspace, MTV, and Paris Hilton, with Kim Kardashian following her like a spray tanned, bag toting
lapdog. Call the decade too recent or call it too horrible; either way, a 2000s style revival is an idea oft
dismissed. We ve kept the early aughts frozen in time, never to be thawed and let their Victoria s
Secret body spray scented charms flow back into the mainstream. Until now. The first inklings of the
2000s revival popped up in 2015, most notably an online article from Vogue titled The Year in

Climate Change Negative Effects
Climate change is happening and it is devastating. For example it s affecting glaciers, the Southwest
region, oceans, and agriculture. People know that climate change is happening because of studies
shown in multiple places. For example studies show that temperatures in the southwest have increased
by almost two degrees fahrenheit. This shows that climate change is devastating because increasing
temperatures can cause damage to environment. Also glaciers are melting consistently because of
climate change and less snow. According to National Snow and Ice Data Center The amount of land
sea ice that is covered in snow has decreased between 1966 and 2010, over many Northern
Hemisphere Regions. From this you can see that climate change is ... Show more content on

Climate change in the southwest is devastating because it would not only affect the southwest but it
would also affect the world. According to Southwest National Climate Assessment climate change is a
threat to agriculture. This is because The southwest produces more than half of the nations specialty
crops. If the crops are threatend by global changeing then there would be a limited supply of food for
people and wildlife to eat. These crops depend on irrigation, moisture, coldness, and heat, which we
may not have if global changing is continues to happen. Increased warming also increases the chance
of wildfires, which can ruin people s land and agriculture. This also goes along with a limited supply of
food because if wildfires knock out all the feilds that are supplying food for us there wont be enough
food. The southwest is home to 90% of the regions population, with this many people climate change
can affect public health. With this large of a poplulation in the south west it could really out a dent in
human population. From this you can see that climate change is devistarting in the Southwest.
In general climate change affects the world in devastating ways. For example the reefs in the

Roman Aqueducts Essay
Ancient Roman aqueducts are some of the most impressive architectural remnants of the once
dominant Roman Empire. The technological advances that were made around the first century AD by
both the Greeks and Romans in the areas of architecture, construction, and design, were cutting edge
to say the very least. There were also quite clearly abundant practical applications for the Roman
aqueducts in Rome, Italy. Even as Rome s population exceeded 1 million people around the year 120
AD, the aqueducts capably and efficiently supplied clean and potable drinking water not only to Rome
itself, but also to a number of the large cities and small towns in the Empire, and other points of

the book is the technological framework of the Greek and Roman cultures from ca. 800 B.C. through
ca. A.D. 500 in the circum Mediterranean world and Northern Europe. Each chapter discusses a
technology or family of technologies from an analytical rather than descriptive point of view,
providing a critical summation of our present knowledge of the Greek and Roman accomplishments in
the technology concerned and the evolution of their technical capabilities over the chronological
period. Each presentation reviews the issues and recent contributions, and defines the capacities and
accomplishments of the technology in the context of the society that used it, the available
technological shelf, and the resources consumed. These studies introduce and synthesize the results of
excavation or specialized studies. The chapters are organized in sections progressing from sources

The Huang He and Indus River Valley Comparison Early societies such as East Asia and Southern
Asia, began to emerge around rivers that later turned these societies into Civilizations. A number of
people learned to use the rivers as natural resources and used river water for crops that needed
irrigation, built complex irrigation systems that made villages grow and flourish. The earliest societies

The Bond of Sisterhood in The Deerslayer Essays
The Bond of Sisterhood in The Deerslayer
Sisters throughout history have been to eachother: friends, playmates, adversaries, confidantes, soul
mates and significant others , but the most important bond they share is their sisterly love. This bond
stands out and sets it apart from all others. The sisterly love that Judith and Hetty Hutter possessed
never seemed to reach its full potential. This may be due to the fact that they were sisters who were
different in every way possible. This sisterly conflict creates great diversity and themes for the book
The DeerSlayer by James Fenimore Cooper. Due to the fact that their mother died when they were
young, Judith being the older one, naturally took the leadership and mothering ... Show more content

Personality and character wise Hetty and Judith were exact opposites. Judith bore not only good looks
but also intelligence to compliment her physical beauty. Hetty was once described as having less
intellect than ordinary falls to the share of human beings. It was known amongst the lake that Hetty
infact was slow and retarded, with a simple yet humble mind. Judith did recognize this weakness and
took advantage of it. She had grown up thinking herself not as an equal to Hetty, but as a better
person. This is evident through out the story. At one point Judith and the Deerslayer are searching for
the wealth hidden in the treasure chest. They search high and low throughout the barge, including
through Judith s luxurious possessions when the happen upon Hetty s simple ones. Judith states in a
tone of betterment, These are only the clothes of poor Hetty, dear simple girl! she said; nothing we
seek would be likely to be there. Judith has become a self seeking, self righteous woman, only seeking
out things in life that benefited her. The favoritism of Judith over Hetty by their father is constantly
seen in the story. Hetty had belongings said to be plain and simple, and of not much value, while
Judith possessed items of great worth and pride, belonging only to a woman of such exquisite beauty.
Ironically it was Hetty who adored and loved the father who favored her sister over her. At Tom s

Mk4 Banshee Case Study
Ominously, CMMG s Mk4 Banshee made its appearance on the national stage this past Friday the
13Th. But the only thing that could prove to be unlucky about the Missouri gunmaker s wicked new
guns are the hoops shooters will have to go through to put most in their safe.
Yup, the Banshee line is nearly top to bottom NFA regulated registration, tax, stamps, the whole nine
yards. That s the breaks (illogical as they might be) in the short barreled rifle world. The company has
taken some mercy on the hearts of those who refuse to jump when the ATF says frog, releasing
complementary AR pistols in the line s four calibers. Even so, CMMG gives ample reasons to
contemplate doing the Fed s paper dance; by all accounts, the backpack big carbines are sound as oak
joists and light as a morning breeze. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The guns are plum featherweight. The pistol caliber Banshees just trips over the 4.5 pound mark,
while the rifle caliber configurations are well within a rounding error of a flat 5 pounds. As those who
shoot magnum revolvers know, this is tantalizingly tickling handgun heft with the benefit of a stock
(or brace).
CMMG offers the Banshees in .22LR, 9mm, .45 ACP and .300 Blackout, each boasting the shortest
barrel the company bores for the caliber. In the case of pistol calibers that snaps the tape at a nimble 5
inches, while the Blackout measures out at 8 inches. In both cases, the Banshees should prove not only
portable but also as fast handling as they come particularly in a close quarters application.
The Banshees come decked out, as those familiar with CMMG would suppose. Each version of the
BANSHEE sports the company s new ambidextrous charging handle, as well as sling plate and safety
selector. They come standard with a Cerakote finish, an RML M LOK Hand Guard and a Magpul
MOE Pistol Grip. The AR Pistol versions each come with a Tailhook Mod 2

The Mermaid In The Old Man And The Sea
A butterfly emerges from its chrysalis in an entirely new form, now a lightweight and beautifully
patterned insect in contrast to the plump caterpillar it once was. Soon, it expands its wings and takes
off. The butterfly is only supplied with its wings to lift itself up into the air and explore. This species
has evolved to endure the many obstacles it has encountered throughout its existence. Similarly, we as
intelligent human beings must continue to adjust to the new situations we are thrown into
unexpectedly as nature perpetuates survival of the fittest. In The Old Man and the Sea, Santiago has
many regrets after thinking of what might have happened differently if he had the right tools. He

realize that ultimately, what we have the most control over is the future. We will make mistakes, and
will never stop doing so. Instead of panicking when we don t know what to do or how to do

Analysis Of Marie De FranceBy Marie De France
Marie de France begins her story by describing Bisclavret, her main character, as well as defining
what a werewolf is: a ferocious beast which, when possessed by this madness, devours men, causes
great damage and dwells in vast forests (de France, 68). She wants to relate the two by allowing the
reader to decide what she means by the descriptions and why she would correlate them. De France
does a little play and twists the monsters throughout her story. Being a werewolf, Bisclavret may start
out as a monster without; and, at first, his wife seems to be so beautiful and innocent, but there lied a
monster within her. Later in the story, Bisclavret is no more than a human being, and his wife s
monstrousness shows from within and she transforms into a monster without. The themes gathered
from this story are the relationship between love and suffering, justice, and the wife who may be at
first likable, but then changes the way that monsters are viewed. In order to modify the stereotypes of
what a monster is, de France made Bisclavret, a werewolf, the good guy, and his beautiful wife, an
unforeseen bad guy. The wife in the story Bisclavret portrays a trustworthy, loving wife, until she
reacts quite differently to him being honest with whom he really is. Her character is the very thing,
which makes the reader reconsider the definition of a monster and the truth about monsters within.
The relationship between Bisclavret and his wife seems to be a very good and healthy bond

Problems in pronouncing consonants include the inability to produce the th sounds in words such as
this and thin, the swapping of /b/ and /p/ at the beginning of words, and the substitution of /f/ for /v/.
Consonant clusters, such as in the words split, threw or lengths, also cause problems and often result
in the speaker adding an extra vowel: spilit, ithrew or lengthes.
In Arabic word stress is regular. It is common, therefore, for Arab learners to have difficulties with the
seemingly random nature of English stress patterns. For example, the word yesterday is stressed on the
first syllable and tomorrow on the second.
The elision (or swallowing) of sounds that is so common in spoken English is problematic for Arab
speakers, and they will often resist it. (Consider, for example, how the questions What did you do? or
Do you know her? are said in conversational English: Whatcha do? / Jew know her?) This aversion to
elision and the use of glottal stops before initial vowels are the primary reasons for the typical staccato
quality of the spoken English of Arab

Zoos Are A Great Place Of Entertainment
First of all, what are zoos? Many people said that zoos are a great place of entertainment because they
can take their families to see lots of exotic animals that you only get to see in books or on TV. Other
said that zoos could be described as some collections of animals found in nature. Of course, all these
opinions are true because for me going to the zoo has been always a great place to learn and also have
fun in company of my family. In addition, I ve found that all animals in the zoo have different
personality. For instance, the last time I went, and I spent a lot of time watching the gorillas. I could
noticed how all four gorillas that I watched are totally different. For example, Zuri the silverback
gorilla show had been the leader of the group because he was the largest gorilla and have strong arms
that make him to walk upright. However, there have been both good and bad point or opinions about
zoos. In brief, for me zoos have more advantages than disadvantages because the purposes behind
keeping animals in detention are associated with positive educational needs, research, recreation and
conservation. But the question whether animals should be kept captivated or not will be always in a
debate.
First, zoos provide education to society. The role of zoos nowadays places a greater emphasis on
education and conservation than merely recreation. Many school children visit zoos to know more
about endangered species and the different ways to conserve them. The signposts

Lackland ruled England for a long time in the Middle Ages. He was born in 24 December 1166
Beaumont Palace, Oxford to Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine, John was the most youthful of 12 and
the most loved child of Henry II. John was a disliked King for number of reasons like unsuccessful
battles, requesting higher taxes, this gave numerous haters. John was compelled to sign the Magna
Carta, as a result of his poor choices he made towards England.
The Magna Carta is a record that goes back to the year 1215. The name is Latin for The Great Charter

be made to prompt the King. Some of the guarantees, or statements, in the report guaranteed that the
King would not do whatever he felt like but rather would be obliged by laws and appropriate
procedures. For instance, he needed to ensure that on the off chance that somebody was blamed for a
wrongdoing they would be given an appropriate trial and would be judged by their associates
(individuals of a similar status, for this situation fellow Englishmen). The King was not permitted to
seize property or belonging from individuals yet needed to pay for them like every other person.
Comparable types of abuse by the lord were likewise precluded by the record. The Magna Carta was

Character, Morals, Integrity
Morals, character, integrity, what do these words mean .actually, the question is, do you have them. A
man named Dwight Moody once said, Character is what you are in the dark. You cannot see your

own values, which are very important to themselves and everyone else. Integrity is the firm adherence
to a code of especially moral or artistic values. The way you show your integrity, character, and

The Recovery Of Residual Oil From Reservoirs
Introduction
The recovery of residual oil from reservoirs is one of the major challenges faced by petroleum
industries. Based on the requirement of heat, EOR techniques have been divided into cold and hot
(thermal) recovery methods. Cold methods such as CHOPS, water / polymer flooding, microbial
injection, etc. doesn t require any additional heat which saves the cost of heat generation. On other
hand thermal methods like SAGD, CSS, steam flooding, fire flooding, etc. require more temperature
which results in higher recovery of oil. Even though, the technique of heating the formation through
low / high frequency resistive heaters have been recognised 3 decades ago, but it is still a peripheral
technology for EOR. Despite in the advancement of different EOR techniques, none of them have
proven to be economic, less energy exhaustive, and environment friendly.
Recently, Novas Energy Services have developed a tool that creates dense plasma when subjected to
high voltage up to few hundred Volts and propagate it inside the formation through elastic waves. The
produced plasma is not only utilized for cleaning bottom hole zone, but also used for enhancing
reservoir permeability and crude s flow ability. But due to inadequate sample of equipment for
generating plasma pulse, this tool is only used for pilot field experiments.
In this technical paper, a theoretical design of wire line CO2 plasma generating device is proposed
along with the blueprint of the mechanism of its execution.

Margery Kempe Mysticism
The book of Margery Kempe is widely considered to be the first English Autobiography. It details the
life of Margery Kempe a middle class woman who lived during the late medieval period with special
attention being paid to her activities as a mystic. In addition the various pilgrimages she undertook are
covered in detail and come to fill a good part of the autobiography. Being considered the first english
autobiography also raises some questions about the work, such as whether or not it is truly an
autobiography as well as how the religious mysticism present in the text is portrayed. In addition to
these questions the work can also provides a view into the the restrictions society placed upon women
of the era and whether or not the author s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The religious mysticism of Margery Kempe is one of the central themes presented in the text being
present from the initial chapters and serving as the catalyst for many events that occur throughout the
work. The portrayal of Kempe s religious mysticism is primarily positive with most conflict being
used to support and showcase her mysticism. Typically these conflicts revolve around the skepticism
and disbelief by those who doubt her abilities sometimes even being called a heretic. These skeptics
usually then encounter an event focused around Margery that changes their mind turning them into
argent supporters. An example of this from early in the work is Margery s encounter with a monk of
renown who is described as despising her. This same monk later comes to support her after she tells
him of the sins he has committed despite having no prior knowledge of them. In addition to the
portrayal of her mysticism the question of whether it appears to be based more upon logic or emotion
arises. Based upon the evidence present in the text one can conclude that her mysticism is primarily
based on emotion. The language use in the text is the strongest evidence for this conclusion with a
good example coming in the sixty fourth chapter of the first book. Words such as love, sweet, and joy
are used several times throughout the chapter emphasizing the emotion present in her mysticism. In
addition to the language use Kempe s refusal to avoid situations that would be complicated by her
mysticism serves as additional evidence. One such event occurred during her travels when she clashed
repeatedly with her companions over her weeping causing them to be harsh with her. The logical
action in this situation would be to try and appease her companions in order to make the journey more
bearable. Kempe however does not do this, instead making the emotional

Summary Of Assimilation In American Life
Is it accurate that Caribbean immigrants lose more than they gain when becoming Americanized?
Americanization is simply the process of assimilation. Milton Gordon in his book, Assimilation in
American Life: The Role of Race, Religion, and National Origin, views the assimilation process and
its sub processes as: a matter of degree, but complete assimilation would cover seven variables:
change of cultural patterns to those of the host society; large scale entrance into cliques, clubs, and
institutions of the host society on the primary group level; large scale intermarriage; development of a
sense of peoplehood based exclusively on the host society; absence of prejudice; absence of
discrimination; and absence of value and power conflict. This

Analysis Of Accidental Death Of An Anarchist
In Accidental Death of an Anarchist by Dario Fo, farce is prevalent throughout the play. Fo sought to
recreate traditional farce and the comedic effect it creates. In Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Fo
succeeded in creating Didactic Farce, combining comedic values of traditional farce with a rage of
injustice. Fo believed farce to be the most effective way to provoke thought about Pinelli s death.
Didactic farce portrays politics and events of the time in a comedic way. The combination of farcical
elements such as Slapstick humor and Commedia Dell arte and the use of the alienation effect create a
didactic play, underlying the corruption in Italy revolving around the death of Pinelli.
Farce creates a humorous play where characters become involved involuntarily. Farcical elements
include sight gags, physical comedy, and general absurdity. Critics often dislike farce as it is believed
to be a low form of entertainment. The Maniac is primarily Fo s means of presenting farce in the play.
At the start of the play, the Maniac is speaking with Bertozzo in his office about the different kinds of
law when he exclaims, international law, jurisprudence, human rights legislation, common law,
ecclesiastical law, the offside law, LA Law, mother in law (7). The Maniac begins by saying laws that
the people would know. He then talks about the offside law which is a rule in soccer, LA Law which is
an American show, and finally mother in law which is a family member. These allusions create humor
the audience would recognize and build the Maniac s character as he uses farce to convey information.
Later in the play, the journalist is about to arrive, and the Superintendent says she cannot see the
judge. The Maniac quickly exclaims, I ll change character (55). He proceeds to change clothes,
wearing a false mustache and a black eye patch. This is situational irony as the audience knows of the
Maniac s ability to change character, while for those involved, this is the first time. His new
appearance creates humor as his outfit is absurd and later leads to an exchange with the investigator.
Farce also includes slapstick or physical comedy to further specific points while providing humor.

Drug Legalization In The United States
Drug Legalization The issue of drug legalization is become increasingly popular in today s society.
There are pros and cons of making marijuana legal in the United States, and we are taking the stance
in support of legalization. So far, eleven states have decided to pass the law legalizing it, and it seems
that more are to follow. Some might pose the question, is this bettering our country or making matters
worse? After weighing both sides we agree that legalizing marijuana in the United States would
reduce crime rates, overcrowding in prisons, make drug use more safe, and help with health issues.
One pro of legalizing marijuana would be the reduction of crime in the U.S. With marijuana being
against the law currently, people sell and buy it amongst each other illegally. The punishment for
being caught in possession of marijuana is an expensive fine and a night spent in jail. This can also
lead to violent crimes such as homicide, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, and auto theft. A recent study
shows that legalizing medical marijuana shows no increase in the crime rate of that state. In fact, it
may even decrease it. Robert Morris, an associate professor of criminology at UT Dallas, ... Show

Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech At The Virginia Convention
During 1775, colonists were going through something that affected them deeply. Living under Britain
s rule, they had little to no freedom. In Speech at the Virginia Convention Henry expresses his view on
living under Britain s rule. He encourages American men to fight against the British in order to ensure
freedom. Patrick Henry persuades his audience by showing it will be necessary to go to battle through
his powerful use of ethos, imagery and rhetorical questions. Patrick Henry establishes credibility by
showing that it will be necessary to go to battle through his use of ethos in the text. Should I keep back
my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of
treason towards my country (Henry). This explains that Patrick feels that if he holds back in order to
not offend anyone, it ll be like betraying his own country. Moreover, Patrick Henry expresses
credibility by stating Guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the
majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings (Henry). He reveals that he is guilty of
treason towards his country, which shows an act of disloyalty towards God in which he respects more
than anyone. Next, Henry uses metaphors throughout the text to convey his credibility. I have but one
lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience (Henry). This explains that him
being experienced is the only reason why he continues to keep fighting and

Analysis Of The Decade From Hell
The Decade From Hell: Terrorism, War, and Recession in the 2000s At the end of 2009, Time
Magazine controversially named 2000 2009 The Decade from Hell, citing numerous factors which had
contributed to the breakdown of the idyllic view that Americans and many others had previously held
of the United States (TIME, 2009). Factors cited included the contested results of the 2000 election,
the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks on the twin towers, the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, Hurricane
Katrina, the financial crisis, Detroit s collapse, and revelations about human rights violations at the
military base in Guantanamo Bay. It wasn t all negative, however. Technology continued to advance
rapidly, with smartphones gaining popularity and social media becoming prevalent in the mid 2000s
(Dreier, 2015). In 2008, the U.S. made a huge step forward for civil rights, with Barack Obama
becoming the first African American president (and the first president with Muslim roots). Closing out
the decade, The Miracle on The Hudson brought a lot of people new hope when a pilot managed to
save every passenger on US Airways Flight 1549, which seemed doomed following a double engine
failure. The political atmosphere in the early 2000 s was significantly different than that of the Obama
years, and thus it is impossible to choose a song that accurately represents the entire decade. The Bush

Political Corruption In The Gilded Age
The Gilded Age was a time of rapid industrialization and many mechanical advances, however the
application of intelligence to social affairs had not kept pace with the application of intelligence to
individual needs and material ends. Natural science strides forward, but political science lags. (Henry
George. Social Problems. 1883) In this quote George discusses the main problem of this time, political
corruption. This was a very significant ill that plagued the Gilded Age. Although there were many
industrial advances, the negative aspects like the overwhelming amount political corruption and the
control big businesses had on the country were more significant than any technological advances
when looking back on the era.

Milton Hershey s Positive Impact On Society
Despite what some may think, it is proven that Milton Hershey had a positive impact on his
community and the world in a various of ways. For example, he built the Milton Hershey school to
benefit underprivileged youth. In fact, this school is still in operation today and was originally opened
on November 15, 1909. Another way Hershey impacted the lives of many was through the building of
Hersheypark. This amusement park was established in 1907 and, like the school, is still in operation

world and continues to be successful today. Evidently, his chocolate was innovating at the time
because it allowed more people to be able to afford chocolate, not just the wealthy. Furthermore
Milton Hershey s legacy would later impact the lives of a great deal of individuals in a positive

According to Helleiner, the subprime loans were given to people who did not have enough financial
proof i.e. they were not creditworthy and should not have been given the loan, as they could not pay
the mortgage back. This then created a ripple effect or spillover effect that spread to the rest of the
States that had financial ties with the U.S as well as those States that invested in their mortgage
financial products (Helleiner, p. 69).
Since my Bachelor degree is from Copenhagen Business School and my bachelor degree is more in
the humanities/Business communication combined with European studies i.e. the EU, I had more
looked at it from an EU perspective and not really the financial part or the global aspect of the
financial crisis.
I learned and saw that when the crisis hit Europe, the EU was really being put to a test because all 27

Natural Vs Anthropogenic Climate Change
Natural versus Anthropogenic climate changes
Anthropogenic climate change occurs due to something that is caused by humanity. One example of
this is fossil fuels, the carbon dioxide is higher than in the previous centuries due to humans burning
fuel like coal for energy. As with emissions of methane along with greenhouses rising those affects
also add to change of climate. The second example of anthropogenic climate changes is due to
agriculture. Before humans began burning fuels for energy climate change occurred by deforestation,
agriculture and also irrigation. The change happened as people had reduced vegetation ground cover,
which changes how sunlight may be reflected and absorbed. Natural climate change occurs due to
events such as volcanoes eruption and the ash being spread everywhere. One example for natural
climate change is solar energy, there are fluctuations which occur over time and predicts some pattern
for change. Another example of natural climate change is from earth itself, the orbiting from the earth
around the sun will alter at different positions which has an effect of what level of energy earth gets.

results through observation and monitoring of the variables that are used in the research questions.
Content analysis will be used instead of a survey, longitudinal analysis, or a secondary analysis
because it is difficult to get accurate results from of previous research. Additionally, Saudi Arabia is a
new area in new media and there is not much of the previous research in this area about the new media
in Saudi Arabia. The questionnaire may be suitable for this study, but perhaps does not respond to the
questionnaire will be the right way, because most of the people do not consider survey as an important
thing and they do not answer it clearly. So, as I pointed out earlier content analysis is the best for this
study.

The Social Cognitive Theory Of Albert Bandura
The Social Cognitive Theory of Albert Bandura Albert Bandura is well known for his
accomplishments and scientific contributions to the world of psychology. His research has helped to
explain how individuals in a society are influenced by other individuals in the same society. It has also
helped in understanding how external factors can influence s ones feelings of self worth. Albert
Bandura was born in Alberta, Canada on December 5, 1925. Throughout his childhood, Bandura was
part of a school system that had only a modicum of books and controlled access to educational
resources. The students had to take charge of their own education, (Cherry, 2014). After high school
Bandura enrolled into the University of British Columbia, where his fascination for psychology began.
Originally, psychology was just intended to be on of Bandura s filler classes, but with more exposure,
it ignited his interest in it and he began pursuing it as a career. To continue his pursuit for his career as
a psychologist, Bandura attended the University Iowa for graduate school. It was there that Bandura
both his M.A. degree (1951) and his Ph.D. (1952). Soon after he earned his Ph.D., Bandura started
work at Stanford University, where he continues to work. Bandura is best known for his development
of The Social Learning Theory. Bandura (1977) stated in his theory that behavior is instructed from
the environment through a process known as observational learning. The Social Learning Theory

Theories Of Personality
The subject of personality is one that is extremely complex and dynamic. Personality has been defined
as the ingrained pattern of behavior, thoughts, and feelings consistent across situations and time. It
consists of a mixture of characteristics and qualities that form an individual s distinctive character. The
configuration of an individual s personality is quite unique because trying to uncover what prompts us
or inspires us to accumulate the different behaviors and thought processes has yet to be discovered
over the past centuries of time. Personality is something an individual can examine in another and
determine if they have any similar qualities or traits in common and from there conclusions can be
drawn that exhibits compatibility or incompatibility to the given circumstance, situation, or person.
Nevertheless, the question that still remains is what determines a personality and enables an individual
to have the character and qualities that they may have? Many theories of personality have been
formulated in an attempt to give a valid, reliable, and thorough explanation concerning the influences
on a personality and the variety of personalities that are known. All of these theories that will be
mentioned all hold pertinent information worth stating and hold interesting views and approaches,
however, some may be out dated, yet useful and others may have been accepted and later rejected due
to new discoveries. Among all the theories regarding personality, four

Cilia Is An Irreducibly Complex System
Irreducible Complexity is an idea sparked debates with scientists for generations. This is the notion
that a complex part of an organism could not have evolved over a long period of time since it would
not have contained all the key components to keep it functioning. Darwin himself knew that his theory
of evolution was hanging by a thread when he said, If it could be demonstrated that any complex
organism existed that could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight
modifications, my theory would absolutely break down. One of these irreducible complex organisms
is Cilia. Cilia are hair like structures that are usually used to move structures around inside of an
organism within liquids. The cilia are consequently able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We could not just have the microtubules for they cannot not bend, it would not make any sense to have
bridges because the microtubules would still not bend, and if we only had the arms that move the
microtubules they would just break apart from each other because there were no bonding bridges . As
we can see, the cilia are an irreducibly complex system.
Another irreducibly complex system is the eye. The eye is a complex system made up of multiple
different functions. The eye consists of Cornea, the Iris, the lens, the Retina, and Optic Nerve. The
Cornea is a tough outer shell around the outside of the eye. This refracts light as it enters the eye. The
Iris controls how much light enters the pupil. The Lens focuses light into the retina. The Retina is
where the light receptors are. The Optic Nerve sends the images back to the brain where they form an
image.
So, as you can see, every one of these functions is needed to complete a functioning eye. It would be
hard to see how the eye could have done its job effectively if it evolved slowly over time. Each one of
these parts is very fragile and even the smallest altercation could destroy all

The Rise Of Interracial Marriages
Interracial marriages, whether it be about race or religion, create more diversity in the world. These
marriages create a more diverse world because the child of an interracial marriage now comes from
two or more races. A quote from New Marriages, New Families reads Because the growth and
diversification of the U.S. population in recent decades have been primarily fueled by increases in the
nonblack minority groups in particular, Asians and Hispanics the role of intermarriage in the
continued diversification of the U.S. population will become even more important. Lee, S. M.,
Edmonston, B. (2005). This quote suggests that the cause of the recent diversification is because of the
increase of interracial marriages. If attitudes about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being an interracial couple could have the possibility of losing valued traditions, and their children
could face prejudice from society due to the color of their skin (Root , 2006 ). When looked at this
way, the information shows that families may not want to date outside of their race because it could
create problems in their family s traditions. Also, parents and grandparents may not have wanted to
marry outside of their race because if they have a child, that child could face prejudice because of their
different races and skin

  • 2. Rhetorical Analysis Mlk Letter from Birmingham Jail Essay Martin Luther King s inspiration for writing his, Letter from Birmingham Jail was mainly to appeal to an undeniable injustice that occurred during his time. His letter was in response tos eight white clergymen, who objected to King protesting in Birmingham. Dr. King effectively crafted his counterargument after analyzing the clergymen s unjust proposals and then he was able to present his rebuttal. Dr. King effectively formed his counterargument by first directly addressing his audience, the clergymen and then using logos, pathos and egos to present his own perspective on his opponent s statements. The majority of the sentences in King s letter can be connected to logos, pathos or ethos and his incorporation of appeals is masterful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of his examples are well known such as Hitler while others were not as popular. This appeals to ethos because it demonstrates King s palate for quality education, proving his credibility. I began thinking about the fact that I stand in the middle of two opposing forces in the Negro community. One is a force of complacency, made up in part of Negroes who, as a result of long years of oppression, are so drained of self respect and a sense of somebodiness that they have adjusted to segregation; and in part of a few middle class Negroes who, because of a degree of academic and economic security and because in some ways they profit by segregation, have become insensitive to the problems of the masses. The other force is one of bitterness and hatred, and it comes perilously close to advocating violence. It is expressed in the various black nationalist groups that are springing up across the nation, the largest and best known being Elijah Muhammad s Muslim movement. Nourished by the Negro s frustration over the continued existence of racial discrimination, this movement is made up of people who have lost faith in America, who have absolutely repudiated Christianity, and who have concluded that the white man is an incorrigible devil . In this passage, King s presentation of logos is genius. He effectively shows the clergymen two sides of the community, the one of complacency and the other of hatred and cynicism. • 3. Rugby Team Reflection Since the spring of my sophomore year, I have been tasked with leading a true motley crew. By others this crew is called the Edina Rugby Club; however, I think of each and every one one of these young men as brothers. Without the sport of rugby, I would not have had the great fortune of meeting so many teammates of different distinctive personalities, backgrounds and ethnicity. There are kids from the high school band to the math club to the varsity football team who make up this crew. Given the responsibility to lead these young men, I have grown as a teammate and also as a human being. I have developed the ability to respect everyone, regardless of who they are, where they are from, and what they believe in. I learn from these young men and let them teach me different things about each of their cultures that without rugby I might never have learned. When I consider each teammate, despite different ethnicities and backgrounds, I see that they are no different than me. I have learned to respect people not for where they come from or what they believe in, but for who they are and how they conduct themselves as a young man. With that being said, I still have the utmost respect for each individual s personal beliefs and history. However, as a leader I feel that if we can get by the stereotypical norms of categorizing people we will find ourselves not only having greater success as leaders but as a society as a whole. Ultimately, those who lead are responsible for teaching the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unlike other addictions like tobacco, gambling and drugs, food in required for the human body to survive, where the other types are a pleasure centre for the brain in affect, and is not necessary for human to survive. An addiction is in which the brain responds to a stimulus, or multiple stimuli, that triggers a respond to the brain, and releases, dopamine to the person creating a reward system to the user, thus increasing the mood of the person. Therefore, allowing the brain to learn by teaching it to respond to increased levels of dopamine, by the stimulus (pp.131). For example, the more a person gambles and wins, the better they feel. Even so, there is a low point for people that gamble or takes drugs, but the need for that persons is to increase their chances of winning, or getting a fix, where they could combine a mix of food, alcohol, drugs and tobacco (pp.131). Which would make them feel good again, as once again, as dopamine is released into the system. According to Davis (2014) that food should not be thought of as addictive, as food is essential for human survival and with a proper diet with all the vitamins and mineral that the body require humans can live a healthy life (pp. 129). But even so food can be addictive as the process foods have many compounds added to everyday foods that rewards the brain for eating it, therefore, a person will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pains Of Sleep By Robert Southey Essay The couplets encompass the odd tension of The Pains of Sleep : the ending is both over long, extending the natural length of the stanza by an additional two lines, and abrupt, answering the universal despair of wherefore fall on me? with an admittedly lacklustre response. The insistent repetition such , wherefore , love furthers the resounding resolution of the poem. Coleridge s draft of the poem in a letter to Robert Southey suggests that there is potential for movement beyond the declaration of the last line, for he affixes c c c c c onto the end of the line, and whilst a large portion of the draft is altered for its publication in 1816, this line remains untouched. Perhaps the clue is in one of the lines from The Pains of Sleep which is altered for its 1816 publication but exists in the draft version sent to Southey as well: The self created Hell within. (Letter to Robert Southey, September 12 1803.) The unfathomable Hell within. ( The Pains of Sleep , line 46.) The poem can be seen as a verbal translation of the self created Hell within : whilst the poem is structurally contained, the unfathomable interior world it describes, and the claustrophobic blending of reality and unreality, all contribute to it seeming incomplete upon interrogation. Coleridge rejects the universal question in favour of a personal answer because the poem cannot adequately make sense of the distorted images it contains. Unlike ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Retinal Vascular Imaging Essay Abstract Retinal vascular imaging is useful in detecting Microvasular abnormalities. It shows several predictors of diseases and potential for understanding other markers that might fit into what happens when we age, develop a disease or health issue. Retinal and cerebral microvasculature have common physiological properties. They are highly similar metabolic active tissues, and are homologous in structure. There are at least two viewing forms for retinal vasculature 2D and 3D . 2D being more flat while 3D shows outlines, fuller imager quality and in depth structures of the retina. Retinal imaging has been helpful in several diagnoses of health such as hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, obesity and the effects of aging. Outlook for retinal vascular imaging looks good as it is being applied to new ideas and concepts. Introduction Microvasular veins are some of the small veins in our body, referred to as vessels that form a network between the arterioles and venules located in the retina and body. The micro vasculatures of the brain and retina have common physiological properties, they both have high metabolic active tissues, similar embryological origins and are homologous (Meier, M. Flare pants, chunky highlights, rhinestones, and Baby Phat phone cases. Welcome to the year 2000. I bet many of you readers just got flashbacks. I also bet many of you cringed and/or gasped in horror at said flashbacks. It s not an uncommon reaction. Our own Andrea Klick summed it up when I told her my idea for this column: 2000s style is disgusting! Indeed, most people would love to forget the aesthetic of this particular decade. The transition from the oft lauded 90s to the big, fat, futuristic Y2K created a culture dominated by Myspace, MTV, and Paris Hilton, with Kim Kardashian following her like a spray tanned, bag toting lapdog. Call the decade too recent or call it too horrible; either way, a 2000s style revival is an idea oft dismissed. We ve kept the early aughts frozen in time, never to be thawed and let their Victoria s Secret body spray scented charms flow back into the mainstream. Until now. • 15. Analysis Of Marie De FranceBy Marie De France Marie de France begins her story by describing Bisclavret, her main character, as well as defining what a werewolf is: a ferocious beast which, when possessed by this madness, devours men, causes great damage and dwells in vast forests (de France, 68). She wants to relate the two by allowing the reader to decide what she means by the descriptions and why she would correlate them. De France does a little play and twists the monsters throughout her story. Being a werewolf, Bisclavret may start out as a monster without; and, at first, his wife seems to be so beautiful and innocent, but there lied a monster within her. Later in the story, Bisclavret is no more than a human being, and his wife s monstrousness shows from within and she transforms into a monster without. The themes gathered from this story are the relationship between love and suffering, justice, and the wife who may be at first likable, but then changes the way that monsters are viewed. In order to modify the stereotypes of what a monster is, de France made Bisclavret, a werewolf, the good guy, and his beautiful wife, an unforeseen bad guy. The wife in the story Bisclavret portrays a trustworthy, loving wife, until she reacts quite differently to him being honest with whom he really is. Her character is the very thing, which makes the reader reconsider the definition of a monster and the truth about monsters within. Based on the requirement of heat, EOR techniques have been divided into cold and hot (thermal) recovery methods. Cold methods such as CHOPS, water / polymer flooding, microbial injection, etc. doesn t require any additional heat which saves the cost of heat generation. On other hand thermal methods like SAGD, CSS, steam flooding, fire flooding, etc. require more temperature which results in higher recovery of oil. Even though, the technique of heating the formation through low / high frequency resistive heaters have been recognised 3 decades ago, but it is still a peripheral technology for EOR. Despite in the advancement of different EOR techniques, none of them have proven to be economic, less energy exhaustive, and environment friendly. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The portrayal of Kempe s religious mysticism is primarily positive with most conflict being used to support and showcase her mysticism. Typically these conflicts revolve around the skepticism and disbelief by those who doubt her abilities sometimes even being called a heretic. These skeptics usually then encounter an event focused around Margery that changes their mind turning them into argent supporters. An example of this from early in the work is Margery s encounter with a monk of renown who is described as despising her. This same monk later comes to support her after she tells him of the sins he has committed despite having no prior knowledge of them. In addition to the portrayal of her mysticism the question of whether it appears to be based more upon logic or emotion arises. Based upon the evidence present in the text one can conclude that her mysticism is primarily based on emotion. The language use in the text is the strongest evidence for this conclusion with a good example coming in the sixty fourth chapter of the first book. Words such as love, sweet, and joy are used several times throughout the chapter emphasizing the emotion present in her mysticism. The combination of farcical elements such as Slapstick humor and Commedia Dell arte and the use of the alienation effect create a didactic play, underlying the corruption in Italy revolving around the death of Pinelli. Farce creates a humorous play where characters become involved involuntarily. Farcical elements include sight gags, physical comedy, and general absurdity. Critics often dislike farce as it is believed to be a low form of entertainment. The Maniac is primarily Fo s means of presenting farce in the play. At the start of the play, the Maniac is speaking with Bertozzo in his office about the different kinds of law when he exclaims, international law, jurisprudence, human rights legislation, common law, ecclesiastical law, the offside law, LA Law, mother in law (7). The Maniac begins by saying laws that the people would know. He then talks about the offside law which is a rule in soccer, LA Law which is an American show, and finally mother in law which is a family member. These allusions create humor the audience would recognize and build the Maniac s character as he uses farce to convey information. Later in the play, the journalist is about to arrive, and the Superintendent says she cannot see the judge. The Maniac quickly exclaims, I ll change character (55). He proceeds to change clothes, wearing a false mustache and a black eye patch. This is situational irony as the audience knows of the Maniac s ability to change character, while for those involved, this is the first time. His new appearance creates humor as his outfit is absurd and later leads to an exchange with the investigator. Farce also includes slapstick or physical comedy to further specific points while providing humor. While still acting as Mark Weeny, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Drug Legalization In The United States Drug Legalization The issue of drug legalization is become increasingly popular in today s society. There are pros and cons of making marijuana legal in the United States, and we are taking the stance in support of legalization. So far, eleven states have decided to pass the law legalizing it, and it seems that more are to follow. Some might pose the question, is this bettering our country or making matters worse? After weighing both sides we agree that legalizing marijuana in the United States would reduce crime rates, overcrowding in prisons, make drug use more safe, and help with health issues. One pro of legalizing marijuana would be the reduction of crime in the U.S. With marijuana being against the law currently, people sell and buy it amongst each other illegally. The punishment for being caught in possession of marijuana is an expensive fine and a night spent in jail. This can also lead to violent crimes such as homicide, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, and auto theft. A recent study shows that legalizing medical marijuana shows no increase in the crime rate of that state. In fact, it may even decrease it. • 31. Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech At The Virginia Convention During 1775, colonists were going through something that affected them deeply. Living under Britain s rule, they had little to no freedom. In Speech at the Virginia Convention Henry expresses his view on living under Britain s rule. He encourages American men to fight against the British in order to ensure freedom. Patrick Henry persuades his audience by showing it will be necessary to go to battle through his powerful use of ethos, imagery and rhetorical questions. Patrick Henry establishes credibility by showing that it will be necessary to go to battle through his use of ethos in the text. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country (Henry). This explains that Patrick feels that if he holds back in order to not offend anyone, it ll be like betraying his own country. Moreover, Patrick Henry expresses credibility by stating Guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings (Henry). He reveals that he is guilty of treason towards his country, which shows an act of disloyalty towards God in which he respects more than anyone. Next, Henry uses metaphors throughout the text to convey his credibility. I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience (Henry). Analysis Of The Decade From Hell The Decade From Hell: Terrorism, War, and Recession in the 2000s At the end of 2009, Time Magazine controversially named 2000 2009 The Decade from Hell, citing numerous factors which had contributed to the breakdown of the idyllic view that Americans and many others had previously held of the United States (TIME, 2009). Factors cited included the contested results of the 2000 election, the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks on the twin towers, the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, the financial crisis, Detroit s collapse, and revelations about human rights violations at the military base in Guantanamo Bay. It wasn t all negative, however. Technology continued to advance rapidly, with smartphones gaining popularity and social media becoming prevalent in the mid 2000s (Dreier, 2015). In 2008, the U.S. made a huge step forward for civil rights, with Barack Obama becoming the first African American president (and the first president with Muslim roots). Closing out the decade, The Miracle on The Hudson brought a lot of people new hope when a pilot managed to save every passenger on US Airways Flight 1549, which seemed doomed following a double engine failure. The political atmosphere in the early 2000 s was significantly different than that of the Obama years, and thus it is impossible to choose a song that accurately represents the entire decade. This then created a ripple effect or spillover effect that spread to the rest of the States that had financial ties with the U.S as well as those States that invested in their mortgage financial products (Helleiner, p. 69). Since my Bachelor degree is from Copenhagen Business School and my bachelor degree is more in the humanities/Business communication combined with European studies i.e. the EU, I had more looked at it from an EU perspective and not really the financial part or the global aspect of the financial crisis. I learned and saw that when the crisis hit Europe, the EU was really being put to a test because all 27 members were connected by the ratified treaties that they were signatory to in order to become an EU member which also meant that the financial burden had to be divided amongst the members. Germany being a very big State had to carry the largest burden and that has begun to put a strain on Germany s patience (Connolly). • 40. Natural Vs Anthropogenic Climate Change Natural versus Anthropogenic climate changes Anthropogenic climate change occurs due to something that is caused by humanity. One example of this is fossil fuels, the carbon dioxide is higher than in the previous centuries due to humans burning fuel like coal for energy. As with emissions of methane along with greenhouses rising those affects also add to change of climate. The second example of anthropogenic climate changes is due to agriculture. Before humans began burning fuels for energy climate change occurred by deforestation, agriculture and also irrigation. The change happened as people had reduced vegetation ground cover, which changes how sunlight may be reflected and absorbed. Natural climate change occurs due to events such as volcanoes eruption and the ash being spread everywhere. One example for natural climate change is solar energy, there are fluctuations which occur over time and predicts some pattern for change. Another example of natural climate change is from earth itself, the orbiting from the earth around the sun will alter at different positions which has an effect of what level of energy earth gets. • 44. Theories Of Personality The subject of personality is one that is extremely complex and dynamic. Personality has been defined as the ingrained pattern of behavior, thoughts, and feelings consistent across situations and time. It consists of a mixture of characteristics and qualities that form an individual s distinctive character. The configuration of an individual s personality is quite unique because trying to uncover what prompts us or inspires us to accumulate the different behaviors and thought processes has yet to be discovered over the past centuries of time. Personality is something an individual can examine in another and determine if they have any similar qualities or traits in common and from there conclusions can be drawn that exhibits compatibility or incompatibility to the given circumstance, situation, or person. Nevertheless, the question that still remains is what determines a personality and enables an individual to have the character and qualities that they may have? Many theories of personality have been formulated in an attempt to give a valid, reliable, and thorough explanation concerning the influences on a personality and the variety of personalities that are known. As we can see, the cilia are an irreducibly complex system. Another irreducibly complex system is the eye. The eye is a complex system made up of multiple different functions. The eye consists of Cornea, the Iris, the lens, the Retina, and Optic Nerve. The Cornea is a tough outer shell around the outside of the eye. This refracts light as it enters the eye. The Iris controls how much light enters the pupil. The Lens focuses light into the retina. The Retina is where the light receptors are. The Optic Nerve sends the images back to the brain where they form an image. So, as you can see, every one of these functions is needed to complete a functioning eye.
