Should the elderly receive free bus rides? This is a controversial issue that many countries are faced
with in nowadays. People analyze this problem by taking both pros and cons into consideration. Some
people are in favor of the elderly riding bus for free because they have right to benefit the giving back
from the society to which they devote most of their lifetime. On the other hand, some disapproval
voices emerge in terms of influence of social economy or unequal treatment between the elderly and
the others. The reasons why I strongly believe the elderly should receive free bus rides are lacking of
finance, preventing traffic accidents, and promoting public transportations. A lack of finance is the
first reason that the elderly should receive free bus rides. A majority of elderly is limited in their
finance after they got retired; they are sometimes even not able to pay their fundamental living needs
such as medicine and groceries. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 12% seniors are living at the
poverty level, and their income become lower and lower with increasing age; therefore, they would
have difficulty in their constant expenses such as healthcare, housing, food, and so on. About 14.2% of

We are an ignorant people. Considering that most of our knowledge about Native Americans is based
on the success of our American hero Christopher Columbus it is clear why. History has painted it as
though Native Americans are savages who have no sense of morality and are wild. So, more often than
not, we either have this incorrect assumption or know generally nothing at all. Even though most of
our information about Native Americans is based upon stereotypes we act as though that information
is cut and clear. This is done without considering their experiences and the inaccuracies of our so

clear lies that history portrays and to display the experiences of Native Americans of the past and the

To be honest, before my first counseling session I thought that counseling would be easier that what it
was; nonetheless, I learned very quickly otherwise. I believed that because I am an educator and
encounter similar situations that may require particular skills such as encouraging, empathy,
questioning and observation that I was going to have an advantage over acquiring and applying the
rest of the skills needed for a complete counseling session. Hence, I went into the first session with an
authoritative and even judgmental attitude towards my client; which I now regret. At the moment I
intertwined my teacher and counselor personas and I should not have done this. If I had been the
astute and objective counselor, I would have had appreciated every second of the first session to build
rapport and trust. Instead, I lectured the student about the school rules and how to avoid getting in
trouble. Therefore, I ended up spending some of session two reconstructing what should have been
done to properly serve the client and focus on the main concern without imposing my wishes or

There are times when doing the right thing can lead to bad consequences. For example, if your family
is about to be killed by a criminal and the only thing you can do to protect your family from being
murdered is to kill the person who is threatening them, you would feel it necessary to commit an evil
in order to prevent a greater misfortune. On the other hand, the actor in cases such as this faces a
moral dilemma of having to kill someone. This is where the Doctrine of Double Effect comes into
play. The Doctrine of Double Effect (DDE) is a principal which aims to provide specific guidelines for
determining when it is morally permissible to perform an action in the pursuit of a positive outcome

gives people a justification to commit heinous acts if they merely claim that they intended some sort

Throughout human history, mankind has venerated heroes because they possess the ideals that people
strive to achieve themselves. The appearance and importance of heroes in The Iliad form a major part
of what makes it such a celebrated tale. The concept of heroism, however, for the ancient Greeks and
modern society is quite different. The Greeks viewed heroes as humans usually descended from the
gods and in possession of superhuman strength and an aptitude for battle . Achilles clearly fits the
above definition and therefore it comes as no surprise that he has historically been viewed as the main
hero of the epic. However, the modern day definition of heroism, more than just strength and prowess
in battle, encompasses the idea of a moral responsibility: defending one s people from harm and
sacrificing one s own desires or life for the sake of others. Hector proves to be a great warrior, referred
to as man killing Hector by the Achaeans, and therefore can be seen as a hero by the Greek
perspective. However that is not the defining characteristic of the Trojan Prince. His character
revolves around a sense of moral responsibility towards his people, his culture and his family, and
