Chelmno Concentration Camp
The first concentration camp was established on December 7,1941 and that s when the first victims of
the extermination were killed. The Chelmno concentration camp killed all the Jews in the area besides
in Lodz. Knowing where and when it was made, and what its purpose was, and how it affected Jews
and others in it, can allow us to better understand the Chelmno death camp.
The Chelmno concentration camp was made in Chelmno which was roughly 50 miles from the closest
town called Lodz. It was were the first mass killings of Jews were ... Show more content on

The Chelmno concentration camp was the first camp made for the final solution. They made the main
gate of the concentration camp a look of normalcy so they would be uncomfortable(Liebowitz,Roni
Seibel).
The camp effected the jew and other in it by killing most of them in it. The chelmno concentration
camp killed the whole Jewish population of Warthegau( Chelmno 3). Chelmno concentration camp
operated three trucks that killed the Jews and others with carbon monoxide. They killed about 150
300,000 people in the Chelmno concentration camp( Chelmno 1). Chelmno transferred jews and
others in trucks and usually transferred them to the camp a lot of Jews and they transferred some of
them in cars so they wouldn t be suspicious( Chelmno 3). 88 children from the town of Czech Town of
Lidice were murdered in the Chelmno concentration camp( Chelmno 1). Most of the Jews who were
deported from the Lodz Ghetto were killed in the Chelmno concentration camp( Chelmno 4). The
deportees that came to the camp were all enclosed wagons. They were either trucked or foot onto
chelmno( Chelmno 2). The first Jews arrived at Chelmno from Lodz in the middle of January of 1942(
Chelmno 3). The doors on the 3 trucks were sealed and poison gas was released into the section of the
truck where they were gassed to death by carbon monoxide. The people that were gassed

The Characteristics Of Louise From Bob s Burgers
Have you ever seen and a movie or a show that when you watch it makes you feel like you re that
character in the movie or show? And all the characteristics that one character has you see them in you.
People mostly teenagers in my perspective and the ones that connect with the characters more because
they are trying to find themselves. To find who they are and they may change characters they feel a
connotation with and that is okay because they are find themselve and that is the process of connecting
with a character. And not only that but also taking these characteristics and applying them to their
lives forever. The three fictional characters that most represent my personality are Louise from Bob s
Burgers because she lets her voice be heard in any shape or form, Dina from Girls Trip for her wild
being but also for her protect sided for the ones she cares for, and Ponyo a Japanese character for her
braveness from the unknown.
Even though Louise is the smallest one out of three siblings, she is the one who brings everyone
together because she speaks her mind, and that does not mean that we don t share some of the same
characteristics because we do since she speaks her mind just like me, without thinking sometimes.
When Bob s Burgers started, Louise was the character that meant no harm when she spoke. For
example, when her aunt came to her burger spot and started to complain about her appearance and
about how she could not find love, Louise just told her to lose some

The Poem The Nettles Poem
Nettles This poem is an account of the day the poet s son got stung when he fell into a bed of nettles
and his reaction to that. It shows the poets paternal instincts and his sense of duty to protect his young
son. This poem is a singular paragraph, flowing organically and its lack of punctuation and multiple
run on sentences which show us that s it s the poets chain of thoughts. At the first glance, the poem
seems simple, however as you analyze it many of its layers are uncovered. The title of this poem itself
seems simple and direct. However, nettles are the antagonist in this poem, and therefore by naming it
the readers realize that the poet is focusing on the most important thing to him at that time, which are
the nettles and how he wants to destroy them. More important are the lessons learnt than hardships the
poet faced while eradicating them and also more important than ... Show more content on

He sharpened his weapons and headed out to destroy the nettle bed. The poet s only focus at that time
was completely eradicating the nettle bed, so he slashed in fury with it , slowly releasing his anger,
making the process cathartic. The poet continued his military metaphor and kept attacking the nettles
until not a nettle in that fierce parade stood upright , and then to destroy the nettle bed completely
once and for all he lit a funeral pyre to burn the fallen dead yet again comparing these nettles to
soldiers. Until now this entire battle between the poet and the nettle bed seemed entirely one sided and
the readers were sure that the poet would emerge victorious, as there wasn t a single nettle left. Not
only had the poet slashed them but he had burnt them too. However, just like the poet the reader too
had underestimated the power of nature. The poet was arrogant to believe that he could destroy nature
with his weapon, however, he forgot that nature was

Physics Of The Scientific Method
1) What are the steps of the scientific method? (4 points)
Observation The light won t come on.
Question Why won t the light come on?
Hypothesis The light won t turn on because the light bulb has burned out.
Prediction If I replace the light bulb, then the light will work again.
Experiment Replace the light bulb with a new light bulb and turn on the light.
Predicted result the new light bulb will work and the light will come on.
2) Explain the difference between science and pseudoscience. (4 points)

3. Clairvoyance.
This is the belief that you can somehow communicate with the dead for example. Because this is
specific to a person that you cannot observe (their dead), you have no way of studying this interaction
through scientific means.
4) The parody religion called The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster uses a very interesting
correlation between pirates and natural disasters:
You may be interested to know that global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural
disasters are a direct result of the shrinking numbers of Pirates since the 1800s. As you can see, there
is a statistically significant inverse relationship between pirates and global temperature.
http://www.venganza.org/
Can the scientific method be used to test the claim that disasters are caused by the declining number of
pirates? Be specific as to why or why not, and if so, how would this be done? (6 points)
This claim cannot be tested by the scientific method. It is making a claim that is anecdotal.
To design a scientific experiment you need to be able to have an independent variable, dependent
variable and a controlled variable. With their assumption the global warming would be the dependent
variable that is being changed by the number of pirates decreasing. The independent variable would be
what you are changing. We can t control the number of pirates in the world

Chick-Fil-A Campaign Analysis
1.
The Chick fil a campaign is something that has clearly been successful since the 90s. Good PR is not
just about the over glorified launch. Good PR helps build and sustain a groundswell of brand support
incrementally changing consumer behaviors via a steady stream of relevant and candid
communication to both media and consumers (The 7 Elements of Good PR ,2009). The Chick fil a
campaign has done just that. The brand support has been a big success for the last decade and has not
failed yet. Over the years the changes in the ads have only become timelier to the age we live in now.
No matter what year you look at the campaign there is a cow with the same style writing throughout.

For marketers it may help their businesses if people click on the ads. But for consumers they have too
much power on their computers. I personally think it is annoying having all these ads on the side on
the screen half of them I could care less about. So it does not seem to make sense as to why they have
all this power over what we browse on the internet. Unfortunately though internet tracking is
dangerous and can go a lot further than using information for ads. CBS News wrote a story on a
woman who was stalked and killed through information that is given out on the internet. Complicating
matters further are criminals who break into Web sites, steal the information and use it for personal
gain, (Sullivan.B, N.D). There should be better security tracking on the internet if marketers are going
to have control to see what we do. It also seems that we are not always educated either though on what
settings we have up on our computers. Most people have their third party cookies enabled because we
are unaware of the privacy issues, which result in the cookies, (Fighting Internet Surveillance, N.D.)..
There s nothing necessarily sinister about this subterranean data exchange: this is, after all, the
advertising ecosystem that supports free online content (MADRIGAL.A, 2012). It seems like there is
a divide in what people believe is right against wrong. In one sense if they did not track what we did
companies would have no ads to use n the side of our screens. With companies tracking what we do it
can also lead to more personal issues that could later harm

Raymond Carver and his Works
Part 2
I personally believe that with any story told or movie made that you have to creator s life to see where
the story actually comes from. No matter what we do in life we all as human beings find a way to
show what we have been through in our lives. Raymond Carver was no different just he had a really
tough road that he traveled and it showed in his stories. According to an interview with William, Stull
in Matters of Life Death: An Interview with Raymond Carver Carver also understood that his life
showed through in his work, Wolff said in a review of my first book of stories that he felt he could
pick out a story of mine without seeing my name attached to it. I took that as a compliment. If you can
find an author s fingerprints on the work, you can tell it s his and no other s. (Stull 14 17) Carver s life
bled through his work and in The Bath we can see this. In The Bath we have a couple dealing with the
accident their son had been in and it seemed to push them apart more than they already were. The fact
of the couple losing touch with each other managed to transcend the story into Carver s real life,
Carver s marriage to his first wife Maryann. But instead of an accident pushing Raymond and
Maryann apart, it was Raymond s addiction to Alcohol and the problems that came with his addiction.
According to Abby, Werlock in The Facts on File Companion to the American Short Story Carver s
alcohol addiction was spiraling out of control and was poised to take

Good Vs Evil In Sula Research Paper
Evil is among us. It is present through our love, through our hate, through our hopes and through our
dreams. It is inevitable. We simply cannot escape it. The concept of good versus evil indeed beguiles
us all. How can we determine the good if not for the existence of evil? In fact, without the villain
plotting to take over the world, what good would any novel be? It is the thrilling suspense of what will
he/she do next? that keeps readers eager to turn to the next page. In her novel Sula , Toni Morrison
kept us enthralled with her protagonist Sula, which incidentally, is the villainous heroine that
everyone, including the readers, hates to love. Morrison intricately conveys the nature of evil, it
portrayal through its colorful characters, and how it ultimately teaches us that things are not always as
they appear.
What is the nature of evil in Sula?
Death. Evil rears its ugly head a great many times in Sula. Among them certainly is death. Maureen

The Un Sanctions Committee s Guidelines Prescribe Too...
Some would say that the UN Sanctions Committee s guidelines prescribe very loose standards of
evidence for their Monitoring Groups. This is often followed with the claim that inconsistent standards
of investigations and evidentiary standards can lead to poor harmonization and unfair sanctioning,
which can even go so far as discrediting of the Sanctions Committees of the Security Council. While
these claims may be true to some extent, the argument can be made that by comparing reports, Experts
have already formed a degree of consensus in their evidentiary standards and due processes of
investigations. The purpose of exemplifying the high burden of proof across the Panels of Experts
without a common guidelines is to demonstrate that due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking at this policy, it is clear that it would be impossible under the current framework to provide
this type of due process for all individuals and entities sanctioned by the UN. Furthermore, the
Security Council would most likely not provide the resources necessary to pursue this process.
Therefore, to the standard of due process used for charging misconduct on a UN employee would not
be satisfied with the due process used for investigations and impositions of UN sanctions. While this
example may not be a realistic comparison, the value in its mention is intended to shed light on the
double standards inherent in the due process of imposing UN sanctions (having detrimental effects),
and the due process for imposing a charge of misconduct on a UN staff member (having much less of
an effect than targeted sanctions). This double standard perhaps signifies a need for reform.
After viewing the evidentiary standards and investigative methods of the different Experts Panels of
the Security Council Monitoring Teams/Groups as will be done in the remainder of this essay it will
be demonstrated that almost all Panels of Expert more or less conform to the recommendations made
in The Report of the Informal Working Group of the Security Council on General Issues of Sanctions
(2006) already, without a mandate or common standard outlined by the Security Council. This calls

Sexism In The Handmaids Tale
Books that are banned or challenged often have controversial topics but many don t consider the
positive effects of these books. The Handmaid s Tale is an example of this because despite including
uncomfortable topics, it also offers meaningful themes and ideas. Atwood s focus on sexism shows
readers the importance of feminism and equality. For example, on page 72, the author writes, This
week Janine doesn t wait for us to jeer at her. It was my fault, she says. It was my fault. I led them on.
I deserved the pain. This quote shows that the women are being conditioned into blaming themselves
if something such as sexual assault were to happen to them. It s important because readers should
recognize the unjust way of thinking and oppose sexism such as this. Continually, in the novel it says,
Women can t hold property anymore, she said. It s the new law (178). In the story, when society
abruptly changed, women had their rights taken away as displayed in the quote. This illustrates how
sexist the society is in the novel and how Atwood believes life would turn out if people were to
disregard equality. Finally, the job and treatment of the handmaids throughout the story is very unjust.
The handmaids are used for couples who can t have children on their own and must follow strict rules
and complete their job or else they face severe consequences. This conveys, yet again, the inhumane
way a lot of the women are treated and the wrongs of sexism. Ultimately, this theme of sexism

Soil Erosion
What is soil erosion? Soil erosion is a natural process, occurring over geological time, and indeed it is
a process that is essential for soil formation in the first place. With respect to soil degradation, most
concerns about erosion are related to accelerated erosion, where the natural rate has been significantly
increased mostly by human activity. Soil erosion by water is a widespread problem throughout
Europe. Soil is naturally removed by the action of water or wind: such background (or geological )
soil erosion has been occurring for some 450 million years, since the first land plants formed the first
soil. Even before this, natural processes moved loose rock, or regolith, off the Earth s surface, just as

Diffuse overland flow. Note the raindrop impacts
Firstly, if rain arrives too quickly (i.e. with too high an intensity) for it to infiltrate: the runoff which
results is then known as infiltration excess runoff, or Hortonian runoff. Secondly, runoff may occur if
the soil has already absorbed all the water it can hold (i.e. because it is fully saturated, or if the soil is
frozen). Runoff which results from this situation is known as saturation excess runoff. As runoff
moves downhill, it is at first a thin diffuse film of water which has lost virtually all the kinetic energy
which it possessed as falling rain. Thus it moves only slowly, has a low flow power, and is generally
incapable of detaching or transporting soil particles.
The micro topography (i.e. small scale pattern of irregularities) of the soil s surface tends to cause this
overland flow to concentrate in closed depressions, which slowly fill: this is known as detention
storage or ponding . Both the flowing water, and the water in detention storage, protect the soil from
raindrop impact, so that rainsplash redistribution usually decreases over time within a storm, as the
depth of surface water increases. There are, however, complex interactions between rainsplash and
overland flow. If rain continues, the increasing depth of water will eventually overtop the micro
topographic depressions. Overland flow that is released in this way is likely to flow downhill more
quickly and

Essay on The Crawling Module and Web Pages
With the first one, a collection can have various copies of web pages grouped according to the crawl
in which they were found. For the second one, only the most recent copy of web pages is to be saved.
For this, one has to maintain records of when the web page changed and how frequently it was
changed. This technique is more efficient than the previous one but it requires an indexing module to
be run with the crawling module. The authors conclude that an incremental crawler can bring brand
new copies of web pages more quickly and maintain the storage area fresher than a periodic crawler.

IV. PROPOSED WORK
The functioning of Web crawler [10] is beginning with a set of URLs which is called as seed URLs.
They download web pages with the help of seed URLs and take out new links which is present in the
downloaded pages. The retrieved web pages are stored and well indexed on the storage area so that by
the help of these indexes they can later be retrieved as and when required. The URLs which is
extracted from the downloaded web page are confirmed to know whether their associated documents
have already been downloaded or not. If associated document are not downloaded, the URLs are again
allocated to web crawlers for further downloading. The same process is repeated till no more URLs
are missing for downloading. Millions of web pages are downloaded daily by a crawler to complete
the target. Fig. 1 illustrates the proposed crawling processes.

Torture In The 8th Amendment
Solitary confinement can be considered as torture by several people due to the mental pain or suffering
that is caused by it. But would solitary confinement be considered an unusual and cruel punishment to
the point of violating the eighth amendment? Is torture considered a bad thing? Solitary confinement
has been the only choice that the system could think of in order to reprimand those who have already
done something wrong. Torture is often used for the purpose of having a positive outcome, which is
not a bad thing depending on the situation and its extent. The eighth amendment of the United States
Constitution was first introduced by James Madison for the purpose of prohibiting some punishments
that are not legal, such as painful and hard labor. This amendment states that punishments must be fair,
not cruel, and must have a certain limit. The eighth amendment also prohibits the imposition of
excessive bail and excessive fines. For example, an accused must be treated as an innocent person
before he or she is proven otherwise. Excessive bail depends on how severe the situations are. Other
great examples of the 8th amendment prohibitions are castration, burning at the stake, and quartering.
Based on the wording of the amendment, I believe that the use of solitary confinement in the United
States does not violate citizens eighth amendment rights. A cruel and unusual punishment would be
considered grossly disproportionate, which doesn t exactly concord with solitary

The Issue Of Immigration Policy
On the topic of immigration, Donald Trump has stated, But you have people coming in and I m not
just saying Mexicans, I m talking about people that are from all over that are killers and rapists and

about undocumented immigrants hundreds of times and fought for years for comprehensive
immigration reform... We are a country built by immigrants and our diversity makes us stronger as a
nation it s something to be proud of, celebrate, and defend. As shown through the radically different
perspectives highlighted in the aforementioned passages, the topic of immigration policy has quickly
become the most prominent discussion of the upcoming election. How then do we evaluate the
immigration policies proposed by the likely Presidential nominees, Donald Trump and Hillary
Clinton, given our country s founding principles? The answer to this question lies in the Declaration of
Independence and Constitution. Our nation s legal documents should be used to evaluate their
immigration views because they are the basis of our country and the values America embodies. Given
America s founding principles of equality, freedom and equal protection under the law as stated in our
country s Declaration of Independence and Constitution, extreme protectionist immigration laws
contradict our nation s founding principles. In comparison to Donald Trump s overt and impractical

Benefits of Hormone Replacement Therapy for Men and Women
Fountain of Youth
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT), or also known as hormone therapy (HT) is a government
approved treatment that has seen a resurgence in popularity due to it benefits for men and women.
From menopause to osteoporosis, HRT can help treat and prevent medical ailments that affect
thousands of people in a variety of age groups.
Managing Menopause
HRT is one of the most effective practices used to help women manage the discomfort they may
experience during menopause. Reduced levels of estrogen and progesterone can cause hot flashes,
mood swings, night sweats, vaginal dryness and sleep disturbances. An estrogen only therapy (ET)
will give most women the relief they need from these issues. Women who have had a hysterectomy

Women receiving HRT containing estrogen will not only see a reduction of their menopausal
symptoms but there is also the benefit of improved brain function, thicker hair and bone density, as
well as better sleep and muscle function.
Osteoporosis
When estrogen levels decrease, a woman s chances for developing osteoporosis increases following
menopause. Studies have shown that women who receive HRT during menopause have had a greater
bone density in the early and late postmenopausal stage.
Men receiving a testosterone replacement therapy will also see the benefit of increased bone density
and will be at a much lower risk of developing osteoporosis as well.

The extra fat that you carry is completely due to the lifestyle that you follow including poor eating
habits. If you know that you are carrying a lot of extra fat on your body by the jokes and insulting
comments other people bestow on you, then it is time to do your research on diet pills that safely aid
in weight loss. You will be able to get your life back, your energy back, and your good health back.
Instead of being insulted you will have people flocking to you asking you how you lost so much
weight. If you want to burn excess fat quickly and safely diet pills can be a great option, especially if
you are in pretty good health as the side effects will not affect your health as much as someone with
poor health. There are many different types of diet pills out there on the market but it is best to
research the diet pill fads as well as talk to your doctor to find out which diet pills will be best for you.
If you want to gain muscle as well as lose weight it is best to combine diet pills with a feasible
exercise regimen and a healthy diet plan. Once you have done your research and decided which path
you are going to take start comparing them side by side as far as what they have to offer, what the
company itself can offer, and the testimonials of those that have used the product. While many diet

sticking to a healthy diet plan and participating in a workout regimen that is within your reach. Once
you have made the commitment mentally and emotionally you will get the most from your weight loss

Separation from Britain was a brilliant alternative route by the Second Continental Congress, and their

the British for commercial and military purposes. But the delegates in the Second Continental

Medea Hook Analysis
A mother who kills her children must be psychotic, monstrous, and barbaric, right? Every story has a
hook (something to make the audience interested in learning more about the story.) Medea s hook is
that Medea murdered her two children to get vengeance on her husband. The hook causes many
people to create a preconceived notion of who Medea is as a person. However, if someone takes the
time to understand the circumstances and boundaries Medea lives within that person would come to
understand that Medea is not the monster that the hook makes her out to be. If one can take a step
back, and attempt to understand the institution of Athenian marriage, gender roles, and the immense
sacrifices Medea made throughout her life that person may find that ... Show more content on

Before diving into how Medea exemplifies this quote, one must first question why it s a woman? Why
isn t the saying, hell hath no fury like a man scorned? Critics want to say that Medea is the
stereotypical woman overcome with heartbreak and hormones and therefore she suffers temporary
insanity by murdering their children, but this is not the case. Medea gave Jason every part of her and
then some. To show his gratitude, Jason decided not only to say that all of those sacrifices were
meaningless, but to also go on to steal part of her identity as well. Jason stole Medea s past, present,
and future by deciding to leave her. Once one is able to empathize with all the pain and suffering
Medea endures she is able to understand why Medea reacts with the extremities that she does.
Logically, Medea does the exact same thing to Jason as he did to her when he left her. While Medea is
not able to take Jason s past, she is able to take his present and future in the worst way possible, which
is exactly what she does. Critics want to judge Medea before attempting to empathize and understand
her story. Killing her own children to strip Jason of everything is a punishment so unimaginable, some
might say it is even worse than hell. William Congreve once wrote, Heav n has no Rage, like Love to

Humans Discover Nuclear Fission Essay
Humans Discover Nuclear Fission
It seems as though our fellow Earthlings deserve more credit then we have given them in the past;
they have seemingly discovered the so called, Nuclear Fission. The situation on earth has not been
reported on in over a century, yet they have advanced rather rapidly; in fact more than they can
handle.
Nuclear Fission, as discovered here in Trantor, has both benefits and drawbacks in society. However,
earth is an obscure planet with rather demanding creatures that in the past have used technology and
knowledge negatively. Within the last hundred years, this discovery had made a rather large impact on
the people of earth. Amateurs, as they are, they have made their lives easier, yet harder ... Show more

(We must keep in mind that because humans cannot fly, they have silly vehicles which do indeed
produce terrible pollution; a major problem on earth.) Nuclear power plants (factories that have been
built on earth to create such processes) can be fairly costly to build. However, a nuclear plant would
only put a significant amount of radioactivity into the environment if there was some type of accident
as compared to coal plants which put radioactivity into the environment as part of their normal
operations. In this perspective, nuclear fission is an advantage. On the other hand, should a nuclear
meltdown occur due to an uncontrolled reaction, dangerous radiation would be released potentially
harming people. Another similar situation that arises is the storage of waste products which again
leads to the same issue of safety; is it worth the risk?
Human society, cultures, and politics too have affected the development of nuclear fission and its
applications. Modern cultures promote the use of nuclear energy, saying that it will prosper for the
future; however, more conservative cultures are unsure about what it will lead to. Different mentalities
have lead to both positive and negative results of nuclear fission.
The waste products of fission were found by humans to have been useful

Changes that Shaped American Politics in the 70 s and 80 s

Abstract
For many individuals in the United States, the late 1970s were a troubled and disturbing time. The
Watergate scandal, the Vietnam War, ambiguity in the Middle East and the economic crisis in the
Nation had weakened the confidence of Americans in their government and in their fellow residents as
well. Many Americans supported a new conservatism in social, economic and political life during the
1980s, distinguished by policies of President Ronald Reagan. Politically, the United States
experienced numerous changes during the 1970 s. There were liberal Democratic administrations for
most of the 1960 s followed by a conservative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reagan and the Cold War The Cold War was a period when the Soviet Union and the United States
began negotiations which would eventually see the end of the Cold War. Still, in the early 80 s the
Cold War offered little open diplomacy between the Americans and the Soviets. As such, both were
content to increase their nuclear stockpiles and augment their armed forces budgets if necessary.
Therefore, anti nuclear movements and demonstrations were a typical feature of the early 1980 s (The
Cold War in the 1980 s, 2010). The international achievement of the Intermediate Range Nuclear
Forces Treaty, or (INF), was an agreement between the United States and the Soviet Union that each
would destroy an entire class of weapons as part of this nuclear disarmament treaty (Abbot, 2011).
Organized Labor Struggle There was a downside to the economic recovery which came in the form of
Republican offensive against labor unions. One such event was the firing of more than 10,000 air
traffic controllers for their violations of a no strike clause in hiring agreements (Abbot, 2011). There
was also a decline in union membership as well as blue collar positions. When union membership
waned, unions had difficulty managing with the changing economy. Corporations took the opportunity
to mandate wage rollbacks and compromises on working

The Funeral Of Baroness Thatcher
The amazing thing about the funeral of Baroness Thatcher was the size of the crowds, and the next
amazing thing was that they were so relatively well behaved. The BBC had done its best to foment an
uprising.
With habitual good taste, they played Ding Dong the witch is dead on taxpayer public radio. Asked to
find some commentators to give an instant reaction to the death of Britain s greatest post war prime
minister an event that was not exactly unforeseen they reached instinctively for Gerry Adams and Ken
Livingstone, two of her bitterest foes if you exclude the Tory wets, that is.
As her cortege wound its way from St Brides to St Paul s there were a few people so stupid that they
heckled the mortal remains of an 87 year old woman. A few turned their backs. Some wore twerpish
Guy Fawkes masks or carried signs saying Boo . But the mass of humanity was on her side, and when
the dissenters erupted they were swiftly drowned by cries of shhh or calculated volleys of applause.
I know all this partly from media accounts and partly because I walked through the crowds and I saw
how various her mourners were. There were some tweedy types and some suited thrusters, and people
who would generally not look out of place at a Tory party conference.
But there were also people from all over London, immigrants of every race and colour people that the
BBC might not have marked down, perhaps, as natural Thatcherites and yet who had come to pay
their respects to a woman who spoke to

Let s Talk About Sex.....Preference in Non Western Cultures
Introduction
Each day, over one hundred and eighteen million babies are born worldwide. According to the
biological sex binary male and female, every infant has the possibility of being born with sex
chromosomes female (XX) and male (XY), which causes differences in their biological anatomies.
There are also individuals with disorders of sex development or more commonly referred to as being
intersex. Intersex is an umbrella term for people whose sexual or reproductive anatomies, sex
hormones, or sex chromosomes just do not fall neatly into the definitions of male and female.
Examples of this disorder could include ambiguous genitalia, androgen sensitivity, or abnormalities
with how the rest of the body responds to sex hormones. The majority of cultures around the globe
give merit to and recognize the differences in biological sex (male/female binary), what roles they
have played in their traditions/histories, and their current position in framing politics or societal
structures. Some Non Western countries such as China, India, Taiwan, and Pakistan, include cultures
that exhibit a strong sex preference, or more specifically son preference. More than simply preferring
the births of sons to daughters, son preference develops from instances of gender inequality where
outside parties often question basic human rights. Non Western

New Public Management Theory, Iran and Privatization
In the idea of theorists [9], there is nothing as important as publicity of governmental organizations.
The expression of publicity is an obvious symbol of public and private separation. We are going to

So the history of world wrestling goes back a long time. It was the first sport to ever be created. The
first real traces of the development of wrestling date back to the times of the Sumerians, over 5,000
years ago. There are also many historical and archaeological traces of wrestling in Ancient Egypt.
Drawings were discovered in Ancient Egypt in the tombs of Beni Hassan representing 400 couples of
wrestlers. These drawings witness the existence of corporations of wrestlers in Ancient Egypt,
wrestling rules, and refereeing codes (United World Wrestling). For the Greeks, wrestling was a

Competitions helped to make wrestling more popular, the physical aspect of wrestlers served as a

structured. In 1904 freestyle wrestling was introduced during the St.Louis Games and was only
practiced by American Wrestlers. It was only during the fourth olympic Games held in London in
1908 that competitions were organized for both styles. Wrestling matches took place on three mats
that were placed outside. A regular match lasted 1 hour, but finalists wrestled without a time limit.
After this Olympic Games, Wrestling started to develope in every country Worldwide. Northern
Europe countries maintained Greco Roman wrestling, where freestyle wrestling was largely
dominated by the English and the Americans. In Amsterdam, in 1928, the first African wrestler won

purity and cleansing. A medicine man would then pray quietly while arranging a corn meal mush

the girl. Usually they were instructed to eat it all, but if it was not all eaten it would be passed to each

would keep the basket where the mush had been and preserve it at all times, this was important to a

Reflection Of Ralph Waldo Emerson
I remember learning about Ralph Waldo Emerson in my literature class in my senior year of high
school.Emerson is an amazing writer of all time. Emerson essay about compensation and how he
related it to karma was very creative. The term what goes around comes around is very true in lots of
ways. If you treat someone badly you will soon one day get that same treatment. For example, my
mom had this close friend, she uses to laugh at someone with a certain type of condition. When she
had a child her own self, her child had this condition. This proved that term. Ever since she told me
that I live by making sure everyone is treated the way I would like to be treated. Karma does exist and
you never know when it will come and bite you in the butt.
Something else about this essay that caught my attention was, every person has their own vocation. I
believe this so much. Every single person on this planet has some type of purpose. Unlike my mother,
who knew she always wanted to be a nurse. I had a hard time with this. I honestly didn t know what I
wanted to do with my life. Especially when it came time to decide what I wanted to do during my
senior year. Honestly, after some thinking, I realized not everyone knows their purpose straight away.
It will take time, you just have to believe in yourself and live day by day.
I loved the fact that Emerson knew the power of friendships. I was surprised to know that Emerson
and Henry David Thoreau were such great friends. Everyone deserves at

To What Extent Is Csr Beneficial to a Company s Performance
To What Extent is CSR Beneficial to a Company s Performance?
Corporate social responsibility (CSR), which is a popular debate topic over decades, has divided into
five major dimensions over time. They are known as the stakeholder dimension, the social dimension,
the economic dimension, the voluntariness dimension and the environmental dimension in research
(Dahlsrud, 2008). The relationship between CSR and company s performance, which is classified as
the stakeholder dimension, aroused a controversial discussion among different research studies. Some
research reported positive relationship in CSR and company s performance (Mirvis, 2012), some
research found negative results (Karnani, 2010), while there are also other research view CSR as ...

In this way, those impact brought by those omitted aspects would be included in the CSR s
relationship with company s performance by mistake.
Despite the influence of omitted factors, CSR neither benefit nor harm company s performance. For
those cases reported positive relationship above, they are very likely to be the result of a good
marketing strategy and aggressive advertisement (for restaurant and airlines), successful management
(for employees willingness to work in a responsible company), an efficient R amp;D and politic
strategies (for DuPont s case), etc. However, research reaching a negative relationship can also be
blamed to other stuffs related to CSR, rather than CSR itself. For example, the agency problem
appears when there s a conflict between company s goal and the agent s personal goal, not only in
CSR; and the profit issue is just a matter of choice. Thus, while measuring CSR s influence on
company s performance, we should first identify or select the dimensions of corporate social
responsibility (Ruf, 1998, as cited in Foote, Gaffney, amp;Evans, 2010). Nothing can we truly measure
before a clear identification. After a clear identification, we will be able to figure out whether it is the
impact brought by CSR, and therefore eliminate the interference from R amp;D, advertising, or
political efforts, etc.

The Nature And Activity Of God
Question 1: What did I learn about the nature and activity of God? I see God working through the
history of mankind and God working throughout the history of Israel as well. I believe one can see
that God is at work in the church as well. He is working to fulfill God s plans that has been in place
before the foundation of the world. God s plan as the Apostle Paul says is to redeem his people in
Ephesians 1:6 7. The Apostle Paul said, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed
us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses,
according to the riches of his grace, (Ephesians 1:6‭‬
7 ESV). It is Genesis chapter 3 that we see the
broken state of mankind, but God offers grace to mankind when He tells Eve her child (Jesus) would
crush the serpent (Satan).‬It is through the OT text that we see the interaction with God. Von Rad
believed that through this retailing and applications of the OT stories we see God himself revealed to
Israel through the words and the Deeds of the texts which, swears to what God has said and done
(Routledge p. 59). We can look back at history and see God s action and see a great future that lies
ahead for His children. It is through the stories of the OT that we see what God has done and is
continually doing today. We often lose sight of the importance of what God has done and is doing in
us. We focus too much in our own circumstance. The DTIB states that our view of history is

Mango Street Metaphors
Throughout the novella, The House On Mango Street, author Sandra Cisneros conveys Esperanza s
ideas and thoughts through her everyday surroundings. The metaphors in this bildungsroman exploit
Esperanza s maturity growth from start to finish. Without these metaphors, it would be a significant
challenge for the reader to comprehend and connect with Esperanza. Cisneros demonstrates the
themes of the evolution of thinking and personality through the metaphor of balloons, trees, and bums.
First of all, Cisneros showcases the metaphor of balloons as Esperanza s personal views about being
stuck in Mango Street. Cisneros makes an apparent connection to having some sense of shame with
being an occupant of Mango Street. Esperanza carries this burden of shame around with her, similar to
a red balloon, a balloon tied to an anchor (Cisneros 9). This develops an image in the reader s mind,
allowing them to see the balloon, free to move around, but with no range or hope of becoming
unattached to the anchor. Cisneros conveys that Esperanza is fed up with her temporary (5) life that
should only last for the time being (5). The reader learns that it is near impossible to simply leave the
neighborhood, and leave the shame behind with the neighborhood itself. Cisneros also chooses the
color red for Esperanza s balloon. This is significant because since red is a standout color, the shame
of Mango Street stands out to those who have not experienced anything similar to this type of
neighborhood. Such a burden singles out Esperanza in the crowd, making her unfavorably unique.
This includes being seen as the other half of society, that is unsuccessful and that barely has enough
money to make repairs to their own house. The red balloon describes the ideal and vision of freedom,
with several strict limitations and drawbacks that encompass the weight of the anchor.
Along with the metaphor of balloons, Cisneros employs a second non human object as a
representative of Esperanza s evolution of thinking. The metaphor of trees represents Esperanza s
progression of change and hope for the the future, no matter the circumstance. Appearing in both the
beginning and end of the novella, trees are the building blocks of who Esperanza

The Austrian and Hungarian monarchies combined to form a dual monarchy. They agreed that they
would have the same foreign policies, currency, and army. However, they each had different laws
concerning domestic issues. (Roman)
Did the Austro Hungarian Empire have good relations with the Russian and German empires?
They didn t have a good relationship with the Russians. This is demonstrated in the League of The
Three Emperors, which ended because of tension between the Austrian and Russian empire. However,
they had good relations with Germans because they had an alliance with them. This was called the
Dual Alliance of 1879 and it was formed because they had a common enemy of France. (Roman)
How did this empire unite when there were so many different ethnic groups?
The citizens of Austria Hungary didn t have much in common socially and religiously. However, they
had the same army, foreign policies and currency.
Were there any conflicts between the different ethnic groups?

An Analysis Of Rick Moody s Boys
Each story makes use of a very unique tone and form of narration yet these same qualities can be
compared to some extent across these essays. The authors utilize different forms of writing to convey
their intended focus to the audience. I found each story relative to one another in that they all seemed
to touch of the subject of the roles of different genders in our contemporary society maybe even across
different cultures.
Rick Moody s short story Boys is written with a distinct style. The author uses a form of a stream of
consciousness to convey the purpose at hand, which encompasses writing as if without hesitation or
editing whatever came to Moody s thoughts, he transferred to text. There was also a substantial use of
the word boys , placing emphasis on the central meaning of the story. The style is thoroughly
descriptive and fails to leave any details of the boys lives out. This quality donates a sense of reality
and creates a bond between the reader and the characters. The tone of the story comes of as
particularly unbiased and serious, as if the author were just stating purely factual information. As
events become more somber in the boys lives, the author approaches a more sympathetic tone. The
boys were supposed to be kids, fooling around playing games and living a care free childhood, but
these boys found themselves in scenarios no boy or child should ever encompass.
In the story Boys by Rick Moody from the book Literature To Go, The narrator writes

In 2012, Richard Curtis invited Margot for a role in the «About Time» picture. A year after, the young

Margot sent her portfolio to Martin with low expectations. Then, she left for another continent. Great
Britain, to celebrate the Queen s Diamond Jubilee, as she did with «Neighbors». The same evening the

In The Mood For Love Essay
What is the ultimate form of a tragic love? For Wong, it is neither denial nor acceptance, but an eternal
state of longing and waiting. Among Wong Kar Wei s internationally acclaimed productions, Days of
Being Wilde (1990), In the Mood for Love (2000), and 2046 (2004) are loosely counted as a trilogy of
love. In the end chapter of his trilogy 2046, Wong continues to focus on Chou Mu Yun, a sentimental
yet callous writer and womanizer. Revolving around the affairs of Chou, 2046 presents to its audience
three pathways that love could possibly offer: to unite in happiness, to move on after the denial from
the loved one, and to linger upon the unanswered love in perpetuity. Chou is undoubtedly chosen to be
the bearer of the last pathway. As the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mazierska discusses the overarching theme trapped in presence in Wong Kar Wei s movie as
postmodern implication that correlates to Wong s addicted uses of montage and symbolism in
narration and editing (p8, Mazierska). As he considers, Wong s works share the similarity with several
postmodern authors. The notion of alternative temporalities is central to the narrative organization to
postmodern novels, such as those of Italo Calvino and Alain Robber Grillet. (p17, Mazierska and
Rascaroli). James Udden also argues in the Stubborn Persistence of Local In Wong Kar wai that Wong
s popularity is credited to his typically post modern philosophy of denying his Hong Kong identity
and embracing it at the same time (finnayson, p143). In some more relevant cases, Flannery Wilson
discusses Wong s overlapping narration between presence and future in 2046 as the manifestation of
Deleuze s theory of crystal of time, vaguely alluding to the notion that virtual and the real intermingles
in 2046 (p164, Finnayson). Brunette also postulates that the sense of resisting the advancement of time
correlates to what the Fredric Jameson terms as longing for the present. (Teo, p358) Although it is
evident that every production of Wong concerns the subject of love, few theorists have been found so
far who posit Wong s interpretation of love in a post modernistic framework. The one who got closest

Self Driving Newspaper Article
I am writing this letter to inform you of my disapproval of your editorial on self driving cars. Although
the death of Joshua Brown is a tragedy, I have to say that you are pointing your finger at the wrong
thing, or should I say, wrong person. The accident that killed Mr. Brown was neither his fault nor the
Tesla s. Although the Tesla s cameras failed to see the truck, Mr. Brown did too. When the Tesla s
autopilot feature is turned on, an acknowledge box comes up informing the driver that autopilot is an
assist feature that requires you to keep your hands on the wheel at all times. This message shows that
the autopilot feature is not completely self driving. You are still required to pay attention to what is
going on. For example, when

The Habits Of Highly Effective People By Stephen R. Covey...
7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
When I went through professor s required book list, I recognized the book, 7 Habits of Highly
Effective People, at my first glance. I do remember that I read its Chinese version which was a present
from my grandfather almost ten years ago when I was a teenager. Shortly after feeling excited, I was a
little embarrassed because I barely remember the 7 habits. Now as an adult almost a decade later, after
finished the book, the original work, I was impressed. The immaturity made me believe that most of
the points of Covey were too obvious and trite to make sense. But now those things Covey talked
about are actually tough challenges in my life. The precondition of the Covey s theory is that a lot of
people fix the problems in a scattershot approach which will eventually lead to chaos or
disappointment for the most time. The author s answer to this is to be an effective person. People
needs to learn to solve problems from personal life, study and work with an approach based on a same
core values. The book is about how to develop the core values basically through the seven habits in
order to be a more effective person. The seven habits also help to achieve greater insights into
leadership and management in people s personal and professional life in the effective way.
The seven habits are: 1. Be proactive 2. Begin with the end in mind 3. Put first things first 4. Think
win win 5. First understand, then be understood 6.

It shows the poets paternal instincts and his sense of duty to protect his young son. At the first glance, the poem seems simple, however as you analyze it many of its layers are uncovered. The title of this poem itself seems simple and direct. However, nettles are the antagonist in this poem, and therefore by naming it the readers realize that the poet is focusing on the most important thing to him at that time, which are the nettles and how he wants to destroy them. Unfortunately though internet tracking is dangerous and can go a lot further than using information for ads. CBS News wrote a story on a woman who was stalked and killed through information that is given out on the internet. Complicating matters further are criminals who break into Web sites, steal the information and use it for personal gain, (Sullivan.B, N.D). There should be better security tracking on the internet if marketers are going to have control to see what we do. It also seems that we are not always educated either though on what settings we have up on our computers. No matter what we do in life we all as human beings find a way to show what we have been through in our lives. Raymond Carver was no different just he had a really tough road that he traveled and it showed in his stories. • 12. Sexism In The Handmaids Tale Books that are banned or challenged often have controversial topics but many don t consider the positive effects of these books. The Handmaid s Tale is an example of this because despite including uncomfortable topics, it also offers meaningful themes and ideas. Atwood s focus on sexism shows readers the importance of feminism and equality. For example, on page 72, the author writes, This week Janine doesn t wait for us to jeer at her. It was my fault, she says. It was my fault. I led them on. I deserved the pain. This quote shows that the women are being conditioned into blaming themselves if something such as sexual assault were to happen to them. It s important because readers should recognize the unjust way of thinking and oppose sexism such as this. Continually, in the novel it says, Women can t hold property anymore, she said. It s the new law (178). In the story, when society abruptly changed, women had their rights taken away as displayed in the quote. This illustrates how sexist the society is in the novel and how Atwood believes life would turn out if people were to disregard equality. Finally, the job and treatment of the handmaids throughout the story is very unjust. The handmaids are used for couples who can t have children on their own and must follow strict rules and complete their job or else they face severe consequences. This conveys, yet again, the inhumane way a lot of the women are treated and the wrongs of sexism. Ultimately, this theme of sexism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With respect to soil degradation, most concerns about erosion are related to accelerated erosion, where the natural rate has been significantly increased mostly by human activity. Soil erosion by water is a widespread problem throughout Europe. Soil is naturally removed by the action of water or wind: such background (or geological ) soil erosion has been occurring for some 450 million years, since the first land plants formed the first soil. Note the raindrop impacts Firstly, if rain arrives too quickly (i.e. with too high an intensity) for it to infiltrate: the runoff which results is then known as infiltration excess runoff, or Hortonian runoff. Secondly, runoff may occur if the soil has already absorbed all the water it can hold (i.e. because it is fully saturated, or if the soil is frozen). Runoff which results from this situation is known as saturation excess runoff. As runoff moves downhill, it is at first a thin diffuse film of water which has lost virtually all the kinetic energy which it possessed as falling rain. Thus it moves only slowly, has a low flow power, and is generally incapable of detaching or transporting soil particles. The micro topography (i.e. small scale pattern of irregularities) of the soil s surface tends to cause this overland flow to concentrate in closed depressions, which slowly fill: this is known as detention storage or ponding . Both the flowing water, and the water in detention storage, protect the soil from raindrop impact, so that rainsplash redistribution usually decreases over time within a storm, as the depth of surface water increases. There are, however, complex interactions between rainsplash and overland flow. If rain continues, the increasing depth of water will eventually overtop the micro topographic depressions. Overland flow that is released in this way is likely to flow downhill more quickly and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But would solitary confinement be considered an unusual and cruel punishment to the point of violating the eighth amendment? Is torture considered a bad thing? Solitary confinement has been the only choice that the system could think of in order to reprimand those who have already done something wrong. Torture is often used for the purpose of having a positive outcome, which is not a bad thing depending on the situation and its extent. The eighth amendment of the United States Constitution was first introduced by James Madison for the purpose of prohibiting some punishments that are not legal, such as painful and hard labor. This amendment states that punishments must be fair, not cruel, and must have a certain limit. The eighth amendment also prohibits the imposition of excessive bail and excessive fines. For example, an accused must be treated as an innocent person before he or she is proven otherwise. Excessive bail depends on how severe the situations are. Other great examples of the 8th amendment prohibitions are castration, burning at the stake, and quartering. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before diving into how Medea exemplifies this quote, one must first question why it s a woman? Why isn t the saying, hell hath no fury like a man scorned? Critics want to say that Medea is the stereotypical woman overcome with heartbreak and hormones and therefore she suffers temporary insanity by murdering their children, but this is not the case. Medea gave Jason every part of her and then some. To show his gratitude, Jason decided not only to say that all of those sacrifices were meaningless, but to also go on to steal part of her identity as well. Jason stole Medea s past, present, and future by deciding to leave her. Once one is able to empathize with all the pain and suffering Medea endures she is able to understand why Medea reacts with the extremities that she does. Logically, Medea does the exact same thing to Jason as he did to her when he left her. While Medea is not able to take Jason s past, she is able to take his present and future in the worst way possible, which is exactly what she does. Critics want to judge Medea before attempting to empathize and understand her story. Killing her own children to strip Jason of everything is a punishment so unimaginable, some might say it is even worse than hell. Humans Discover Nuclear Fission Essay Humans Discover Nuclear Fission It seems as though our fellow Earthlings deserve more credit then we have given them in the past; they have seemingly discovered the so called, Nuclear Fission. The situation on earth has not been reported on in over a century, yet they have advanced rather rapidly; in fact more than they can handle. Nuclear Fission, as discovered here in Trantor, has both benefits and drawbacks in society. However, earth is an obscure planet with rather demanding creatures that in the past have used technology and knowledge negatively. Within the last hundred years, this discovery had made a rather large impact on the people of earth. Amateurs, as they are, they have made their lives easier, yet harder ... Nuclear power plants (factories that have been built on earth to create such processes) can be fairly costly to build. However, a nuclear plant would only put a significant amount of radioactivity into the environment if there was some type of accident as compared to coal plants which put radioactivity into the environment as part of their normal operations. In this perspective, nuclear fission is an advantage. On the other hand, should a nuclear meltdown occur due to an uncontrolled reaction, dangerous radiation would be released potentially harming people. Another similar situation that arises is the storage of waste products which again leads to the same issue of safety; is it worth the risk? Human society, cultures, and politics too have affected the development of nuclear fission and its applications. Modern cultures promote the use of nuclear energy, saying that it will prosper for the future; however, more conservative cultures are unsure about what it will lead to. Different mentalities have lead to both positive and negative results of nuclear fission. The waste products of fission were found by humans to have been useful in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Watergate scandal, the Vietnam War, ambiguity in the Middle East and the economic crisis in the Nation had weakened the confidence of Americans in their government and in their fellow residents as well. Reagan and the Cold War The Cold War was a period when the Soviet Union and the United States began negotiations which would eventually see the end of the Cold War. Still, in the early 80 s the Cold War offered little open diplomacy between the Americans and the Soviets. As such, both were content to increase their nuclear stockpiles and augment their armed forces budgets if necessary. Therefore, anti nuclear movements and demonstrations were a typical feature of the early 1980 s (The Cold War in the 1980 s, 2010). The international achievement of the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, or (INF), was an agreement between the United States and the Soviet Union that each would destroy an entire class of weapons as part of this nuclear disarmament treaty (Abbot, 2011). Organized Labor Struggle There was a downside to the economic recovery which came in the form of Republican offensive against labor unions. One such event was the firing of more than 10,000 air traffic controllers for their violations of a no strike clause in hiring agreements (Abbot, 2011). The BBC had done its best to foment an uprising. With habitual good taste, they played Ding Dong the witch is dead on taxpayer public radio. Asked to find some commentators to give an instant reaction to the death of Britain s greatest post war prime minister an event that was not exactly unforeseen they reached instinctively for Gerry Adams and Ken Livingstone, two of her bitterest foes if you exclude the Tory wets, that is. I know all this partly from media accounts and partly because I walked through the crowds and I saw how various her mourners were. There were some tweedy types and some suited thrusters, and people who would generally not look out of place at a Tory party conference. Summary Of Let s Talk About Sex Essay Aileen Burkett Prof. Pat Buck Global Perspectives of Women November 15, 2016 Let s Talk About Sex.....Preference in Non Western Cultures Introduction Each day, over one hundred and eighteen million babies are born worldwide. According to the biological sex binary male and female, every infant has the possibility of being born with sex chromosomes female (XX) and male (XY), which causes differences in their biological anatomies. There are also individuals with disorders of sex development or more commonly referred to as being intersex. Intersex is an umbrella term for people whose sexual or reproductive anatomies, sex hormones, or sex chromosomes just do not fall neatly into the definitions of male and female. Examples of this disorder could include ambiguous genitalia, androgen sensitivity, or abnormalities with how the rest of the body responds to sex hormones. The majority of cultures around the globe give merit to and recognize the differences in biological sex (male/female binary), what roles they have played in their traditions/histories, and their current position in framing politics or societal structures. Some Non Western countries such as China, India, Taiwan, and Pakistan, include cultures that exhibit a strong sex preference, or more specifically son preference. More than simply preferring the births of sons to daughters, son preference develops from instances of gender inequality where outside parties often question basic human rights. Non Western ... • 31. Reflection Of Ralph Waldo Emerson I remember learning about Ralph Waldo Emerson in my literature class in my senior year of high school.Emerson is an amazing writer of all time. Emerson essay about compensation and how he related it to karma was very creative. The term what goes around comes around is very true in lots of ways. If you treat someone badly you will soon one day get that same treatment. For example, my mom had this close friend, she uses to laugh at someone with a certain type of condition. When she had a child her own self, her child had this condition. This proved that term. Ever since she told me that I live by making sure everyone is treated the way I would like to be treated. Karma does exist and you never know when it will come and bite you in the butt. Something else about this essay that caught my attention was, every person has their own vocation. I believe this so much. Every single person on this planet has some type of purpose. Unlike my mother, who knew she always wanted to be a nurse. I had a hard time with this. I honestly didn t know what I wanted to do with my life. Especially when it came time to decide what I wanted to do during my senior year. Honestly, after some thinking, I realized not everyone knows their purpose straight away. It will take time, you just have to believe in yourself and live day by day. I loved the fact that Emerson knew the power of friendships. I was surprised to know that Emerson and Henry David Thoreau were such great friends. Everyone deserves at ... I see God working through the history of mankind and God working throughout the history of Israel as well. I believe one can see that God is at work in the church as well. He is working to fulfill God s plans that has been in place before the foundation of the world. God s plan as the Apostle Paul says is to redeem his people in Ephesians 1:6 7. The Apostle Paul said, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, (Ephesians 1:6‭‬ 7 ESV). It is Genesis chapter 3 that we see the broken state of mankind, but God offers grace to mankind when He tells Eve her child (Jesus) would crush the serpent (Satan).‬It is through the OT text that we see the interaction with God. Von Rad believed that through this retailing and applications of the OT stories we see God himself revealed to Israel through the words and the Deeds of the texts which, swears to what God has said and done (Routledge p. 59). We can look back at history and see God s action and see a great future that lies ahead for His children. The metaphors in this bildungsroman exploit Esperanza s maturity growth from start to finish. Without these metaphors, it would be a significant challenge for the reader to comprehend and connect with Esperanza. Cisneros demonstrates the themes of the evolution of thinking and personality through the metaphor of balloons, trees, and bums. First of all, Cisneros showcases the metaphor of balloons as Esperanza s personal views about being stuck in Mango Street. Cisneros makes an apparent connection to having some sense of shame with being an occupant of Mango Street. Esperanza carries this burden of shame around with her, similar to a red balloon, a balloon tied to an anchor (Cisneros 9). This develops an image in the reader s mind, allowing them to see the balloon, free to move around, but with no range or hope of becoming unattached to the anchor. Cisneros conveys that Esperanza is fed up with her temporary (5) life that should only last for the time being (5). The reader learns that it is near impossible to simply leave the neighborhood, and leave the shame behind with the neighborhood itself. Cisneros also chooses the color red for Esperanza s balloon. This is significant because since red is a standout color, the shame of Mango Street stands out to those who have not experienced anything similar to this type of neighborhood. Such a burden singles out Esperanza in the crowd, making her unfavorably unique. This includes being seen as the other half of society, that is unsuccessful and that barely has enough money to make repairs to their own house. The red balloon describes the ideal and vision of freedom, with several strict limitations and drawbacks that encompass the weight of the anchor. Along with the metaphor of balloons, Cisneros employs a second non human object as a representative of Esperanza s evolution of thinking. The metaphor of trees represents Esperanza s progression of change and hope for the the future, no matter the circumstance. The authors utilize different forms of writing to convey their intended focus to the audience. I found each story relative to one another in that they all seemed to touch of the subject of the roles of different genders in our contemporary society maybe even across different cultures. Rick Moody s short story Boys is written with a distinct style. The author uses a form of a stream of consciousness to convey the purpose at hand, which encompasses writing as if without hesitation or editing whatever came to Moody s thoughts, he transferred to text. There was also a substantial use of the word boys , placing emphasis on the central meaning of the story. The style is thoroughly descriptive and fails to leave any details of the boys lives out. This quality donates a sense of reality and creates a bond between the reader and the characters. The tone of the story comes of as particularly unbiased and serious, as if the author were just stating purely factual information. As events become more somber in the boys lives, the author approaches a more sympathetic tone. The boys were supposed to be kids, fooling around playing games and living a care free childhood, but these boys found themselves in scenarios no boy or child should ever encompass. • 42. In The Mood For Love Essay What is the ultimate form of a tragic love? For Wong, it is neither denial nor acceptance, but an eternal state of longing and waiting. Among Wong Kar Wei s internationally acclaimed productions, Days of Being Wilde (1990), In the Mood for Love (2000), and 2046 (2004) are loosely counted as a trilogy of love. In the end chapter of his trilogy 2046, Wong continues to focus on Chou Mu Yun, a sentimental yet callous writer and womanizer. Revolving around the affairs of Chou, 2046 presents to its audience three pathways that love could possibly offer: to unite in happiness, to move on after the denial from the loved one, and to linger upon the unanswered love in perpetuity. Chou is undoubtedly chosen to be the bearer of the last pathway. As the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mazierska discusses the overarching theme trapped in presence in Wong Kar Wei s movie as postmodern implication that correlates to Wong s addicted uses of montage and symbolism in narration and editing (p8, Mazierska). As he considers, Wong s works share the similarity with several postmodern authors. The notion of alternative temporalities is central to the narrative organization to postmodern novels, such as those of Italo Calvino and Alain Robber Grillet. (p17, Mazierska and Rascaroli). James Udden also argues in the Stubborn Persistence of Local In Wong Kar wai that Wong s popularity is credited to his typically post modern philosophy of denying his Hong Kong identity and embracing it at the same time (finnayson, p143). In some more relevant cases, Flannery Wilson discusses Wong s overlapping narration between presence and future in 2046 as the manifestation of Deleuze s theory of crystal of time, vaguely alluding to the notion that virtual and the real intermingles in 2046 (p164, Finnayson). Brunette also postulates that the sense of resisting the advancement of time correlates to what the Fredric Jameson terms as longing for the present. (Teo, p358) Although it is evident that every production of Wong concerns the subject of love, few theorists have been found so far who posit Wong s interpretation of love in a post modernistic framework. • 43. Self Driving Newspaper Article I am writing this letter to inform you of my disapproval of your editorial on self driving cars. Although the death of Joshua Brown is a tragedy, I have to say that you are pointing your finger at the wrong thing, or should I say, wrong person. The accident that killed Mr. Brown was neither his fault nor the Tesla s. Although the Tesla s cameras failed to see the truck, Mr. Brown did too. When the Tesla s autopilot feature is turned on, an acknowledge box comes up informing the driver that autopilot is an assist feature that requires you to keep your hands on the wheel at all times. This message shows that the autopilot feature is not completely self driving. You are still required to pay attention to what is going on. For example, when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
