Short Story Of All The Sayings About America
When we think of America, we think of the land of opportunities, freedom, and equality.
However, there s another side to all the sayings about America; some good, some bad. My story
starts on the first day of kindergarten at Our lady of Fatima back in 2007. I felt nervous, and
scared; it was the first time I ve been near people who were different from me. Their appearance,
the way they talked, and the clothes they wore all seemed weird to me. Especially the way they
talked, I couldn t understand some of the words they were saying. Were they saying someone s
one name? The reason why this felt weird to me was, because of my previous schoolin India, where
I stayed for two years to learn about my culture and education. All the people I ve seen

Timpanogo s Cave Research Paper
Hansen, Middle, and Timpanogos Caves are natural cavities that are engulfed in darkness and large
enough that humans can enter and explore. Martin Hansen discovered the Hansen cave in 1887;
the other two caves were later discovered.
The Entrance Room is the first stop on the tour of these caves. Cave formations , or speleothems,
are from mineral deposits. Located within this spot is Hershey s Kiss , which is formed by
dripping water, called stalagmites. Visitors have to stay on the paved, lighted trail, can t touch
anything inside the cave and are told to avoid low formations; these rules are to protect individuals
from any harm and to preserve the features of the cave.
A man made tunnel connects Hansen and Middle cave that was built between 1937 and 1938.
Doors were built on each entrance to prevent the cave from drying out, because formations need ...

Chimes chamber ceiling are formations of helictites that look like frozen worms. The Sea Urchins

The Great Heart of Timpanogos is about 5.5 feet in length and 1 cubic yard in volume. The heart
cannot be weighed unless it is detached from its location, but is estimated to weigh over two tons.
Other formations surround the great heart. Tours show a red light shown through the heart; this is
not natural.
The Camel Room has many examples of different formations. Columns form when stalactites
join stalagmites. Shields are located on sloping oval plates that are fringed with helictites along
a medial crack. Salt and Pepper are two small stalagmites. People used to be able to touch the salt
and pepper shakers, but have been discolored and polished. People are only allowed to just view
salt and pepper now, so that these formations can be protected from damage and

Fiscal Policy ( Private And Public )
For any economy, fiscal policy has two primary goals, an economic goal and a social goal.
Regarding the economic goal, fiscal policy has to ensure suitable and sustainable economic growth
rates that maintain unemployment rate at its natural level and at the same time do not generate
inflationary pressures. At social level, on the other hand, fiscal policy has to ensure a degree of
equity regarding the distribution of incomes in the economy, and to direct considerable part of
available resources toward essential investments that provide necessary goods and services
consumed mainly by the vast majority of population.
3.1 Evaluating the Economic Role of Fiscal Policy
Investment spending (private and public) is the main engine to stimulate economic growth.
Securing adequate savings is a prerequisite for any investment spending; however, investment
projects need not just to secure adequate funding to cover their investment costs during construction
periods, as they also need to secure adequate demand for their production to cover operational costs
and to obtain appropriate return on investment during operational periods. While fiscal policy is
playing a significant role in securing requirements of investment, domestic savings and aggregate
demand for domestic production; then it is considered a governor element in determining the extent
of investment prosperity and indispensible tool in correcting the imbalance between domestic
investment, consumption and savings.

Young Earth Realism Vs. Old Earth Creationism
This book has taught me far beyond what I expected, perhaps while reading this book I learned
much more about the Genesis 1 account than I ever learned in my entire life. Miller and Soden
might argue that my lack of study in this area is a result of being a group thinker rather than an
individual thinker (30). Looking at both the Young Earth creationism(YEC) and the Old earth
creationism (OEC) views for the first time, I realized that during my time at Moody Bible
Institute I am really seeking to be challenged in my beliefs with by no means making it some kind
of test for orthodoxy. Even though both the YEC and OEC views have strong arguments the aim
of this essay is to demonstrate what I took away from this book which was written by two
advocate of the OEC belief.
At the beginning of the book Miller and Soden argues that the people who ... Show more content on

I particularly enjoyed learning about how the offspring of Abraham that had spent hundreds of
years in exile in Egypt has been affected by their religious beliefs. More specifically their belief
on creation since they have the most similarities with the one in Genesis 1. Miller and Soden said
that sometimes our observation of the world may require us to reconsider our understanding of the
text because we have not adequately understood the text in its original context. I agree with this
statement more than ever before; my mind is blown by this book. Genesis 1:2 talks about the earth
being formless, void. Darkness and deep. Similarly, the Egyptian belied for creation is that the earth
was watery, unilluminated, with darkness and imperceptibility. Additionally, the separation from
the light to darkness occurs in both account. The conundrum of having light created before the sun
is in place in Genesis 1:3, also happen in the Egyptian account light is created before the sun rises

Home Burial Essay
Home Burial
Robert Frost s Home Burial is a very well written poem about a husband s and a wife s loss. Their
first born child has died recently. Amy and her husband deal with their loss in two very different
ways, which cause problems. Amy seems like she confines their child to the grave. She never seems
to le go of the fact she has lost her first child. Amy s husband buried their child himself. This
allowed him to let go and live a normal life. Amy does not understand how he could do what he
did. Therefore, she wants to have nothing to do with him, especially talk to him. He doesn t
understand why she can t let go, and why she won t talk to him. He tries to get her to tell him why,

family graveyard. In lines seventy nine through eighty one Making the gravel leap and leap in
air, / Leap up, like that, like that, and land so lightly / and roll back down the mound beside the
hole, Amy is describing what she saw when her husband was digging their child s grave. In lines

such as overthrowing or destabilizing an existing socio political system.
Now, looking back at the Gunpowder Plot it can be stated that it fits the definition on each point
that Symeonidou Kastanidou (2004) brings about. They were a group of thirteen skilled man, who
planned an attack on parliament. Attack was planned over the certain period of time, they had
finance and equipment (thirty six barrels of gunpowder, fuse and a fire) to carry out an attack.
Equipped with religious grievances and the intention to kill the King and members of the

of the king would have had brought change of the regime from the Protestant rule to the Catholic
reign or created social dissatisfaction and condemnation (Fraser, 1996). Schmid (1992 cited in Lutz

Butko (2006; Freedman, 2005) slightly reflects on Symeonidou Kastanidou s (2004) definition in
less mechanical way by adding to it that there should be certain psychological effect on innocent

purpose, plotters expected at least to evoke condemnation of the society towards the King. The
most definitive feature of terrorism in Butko s (2006) opinion is the threat of violence or use of
violence towards innocent people, if all of the barrels with the gunpowder would have been ignited

Assessing the Significance of the Cityscape to the...
The Sign of Four is a detective novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, which was published in
1890. It is Conan Doyle s second novel to feature detective Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes is
a master detective, known for his deduction skills, disguises and most importantly, his use of the
city as means of solving mysteries. The cityscape plays a significant role in the narrative of The
Sign of Four.
Conan Doyle uses real places found in London in The Sign of Four. It gives the novel a degree of
realism, and Holmes the detective appears genuine to the reader. He certainly knows his way
through the streets of London. At the beginning of the novel, Dr. Watson and Holmes are travelling
across London to a meeting they know very little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His biggest advantage as a detective in London is use of networking. The Baker Street Irregulars
are a group of homeless children Conan Doyle included in his Sherlock Holmes series several
times. They are Sherlock s eyes and ears on the streets of London, as he notes they can go
everywhere, see everything, overhear everyone (Conan Doyle 93) He can gather them all
together with the help of their leader Wiggins, and then inform them of what they should keep
an eye out for. They can assemble within a few hours, and are immediately ready to work. They
provide unparalleled access to the murkiest parts of London s underground. It is in The Sign of
Four that Holmes notes this is just the case where they might be invaluable (Conan Doyle 89).
Holmes manages to navigate the problems that the modern cityscape of the late 1800s throws at
him, namely limited means of transport, by spreading his eyes and ears thinly across London.
While it may be helpful to the cause, Holmes ultimately uses the Baker Street Irregulars to do his
dirty work for him. This goes against the belief that Sherlock Holmes is a detective who avoids the
harming of innocent people by using his mighty intelligence to solve crimes.
There is a sort of supremacy to be found in The Sign of Four with regards to the city. London is
seen as a greater place than anywhere else on this earth. Here they have cocaine addictions,
murders, criminals and

The fact that the city is state of the art and high tech does not help Anderton in his escape. Every
step he takes is monitored, and eyes record movement. In one scene, Anderton gets on board a
train, and looks up to a machine (an eye dent scanner), which scans his eyes and identifies him.
This is when he realises that he will not be safe in his own city. He decides to take drastic action he
decides that he will go and get his eyes changed.
Sight is a main theme for the film. Anderton cannot escape the Precrime unit with his own eyes,
everywhere he goes he will be identified, so he has to somehow get new eyes. He goes to a man
who replaces his eyes with someone else s and Anderton is now slightly safer. He is informed
that he cannot remove the bandages that are covering his new eyes for twenty four hours, which
poses a problem when the flat that he is staying in to recover is invaded by spyders (Small
mechanical critters that work in the same way as the machine on the train.). These creatures are
relentless and seek heat. So, Anderton tries to lower his body temperature by filling a bathtub with
water and ice, and he climbs into it. The spyders eventually find him, and they pull at his
bandages, and scan his eyes. He is not identified as Jon Anderton and so the spyders leave.

The Reentry Policy Brief Provides
Executive Summary
The Reentry policy brief provides input to the Task Force set up by Florida Governor Rick Scott
to reduce the number of incarcerated juveniles and avoid increasing the already wide racial
disparities of the incarcerated population of juveniles. Most reentry facilities in Florida are run by
reentry programs that were expanded from Transition from Prison to Community (TPC) and
Transition from Jail to Community (TJC) models. Yet these programs appear to not have fully
addressed recidivism among juveniles and are also not tailored to lower the widening racial
disparities among the incarcerated juvenile population. Better evidence based reentry practices are
needed to ensure that these programs are not only effective in discontinuing the cycle of recidivism
but also address the disproportionate minority contact. A growing body of research demonstrates
that comprehensive multi dimensional reentry frameworks increase the chances of reentry
programs stopping the cycle of crime among Florida s juvenile offenders. A comprehensive multi
dimensional reentry program refers to a standardized program that is implemented statewide and
which incorporates evidence based practices such as assessment of needs and risks, individual case
planning, and cognitive behavioral interventions.

Criminal justice statistics released by the Annie E. Casey Foundation in 2013 indicated that
incarceration numbers for youths in the State of Florida dropped by 32 percent between

Global Warming Debate Essay
In the controversy over whether Global Warming there is two sides in which people can choose
either human caused or just Mother Nature doing her thing. Most scientists will tell you that
Global Warming is mostly the cause of humans. While there are some who will disagree and say
that it is just nature doing what it has done for thousands of years. For most scientists the topic of
global warmingis one that is caused by us humans. They have many facts data to back this up.
Some examples of these facts and data are the change in CO2 levels in the atmosphere, the rapid
increase in temperature, stronger storms such as hurricanes, melting ice caps, decrease in

As hurricanes come over warmer waters they gain strength. Over the past 30 years the intensity of
hurricanes has doubled over the past 30 years, according to multiple studies. As the temperatures of
our oceans increase in temperature hurricanes will continue to gain strength and continuously
intensify over the next few years. The increase in ocean temperatures doesn t just affect things
above the surface it also affect life underneath. As temperatures increase it directly affects the
coral, by interfering with the coral s process involved in photosynthesis. Without photosynthesis
the coral and zooxanthellae wouldn t be able to take the nitrogen waste that the coral produces
and turns the sunlight into sugar, which makes up 98% of the coral s food. When the
temperatures rise the coral then reacts and split with their mutualistic algae and the coral then
turns white. The process in which the coral turns white is called bleaching. Without coral reefs
hundreds of thousands of marine life that rely on coral reefs will eventually die along with the
reefs. In the debate of Global Warming in my opinion humans are the main cause. And some more
of how this can be attributed to us is the thawing of permafrost, and melting ice caps. Permafrost is
a big example because places where permafrost can be found is also where some towns and
communities are built, right on top of the permafrost. When

Analysis Of Forrester s Cloud Computing Essay
AUTHORS: SATYAJEET BINWADE ROLL NO.: 1941 (FE9) ASHISH MOKASHI ROLL
NO.: 1913 (FE9) INTRODUCTION Forrester defines cloud computing as: A pool of abstracted,
highly scalable and managed compute infrastructure capable of hosting end customer and
applications billed by consumption. As the name suggests, cloud computing is a way of storing
the data on a server instead of a hardware so that we can access the data from the compatible
devices. This method gives us more ease of accessibility and we can also secure our data by
giving limited access through a username and password to the server being used. Nowadays,
most of the people use mobile phones which have an internal memory of 8 GB or 16 GB. If we
need extra memory then we shall have to extend it using a memory card. If the inbuilt memory
of mobile phone would be more, the cost of production will increase, resulting in decrease in
market of the device. And as we all know, the support to external storage like memory card is
also limited for a phone. It is problematic to carry a pen drive along with us everywhere. The
other problem is the data stored is vulnerable to viruses. To overcome these problems, cloud
computing was introduced. This gives freedom to access or share data without hardware. Cloud
services exhibits of online file storage, social networking sites, web mail and online business
applications. These are the services which changed the face of networking. By this facility we can

The Poetic Mind Of Ralph Waldo Emerson Long Essay
Essay 1: Solitude Nature. THE POETIC MIND. Nature, Ralph Waldo Emerson long essay, was
written in 1836, and at the time it presented very progressive ideas. Not only Nature presented a
novel way to connect with God, but it also changed, to some extent, previous beliefs about the
natural world. For most of human history the wilderness was a place that provoked fear and
meant trouble. Emerson argued differently, for him nature was part of God s creation, and, thus
could not mean any harm .Furthermore, he asserted that to truly experience the richness of the
natural world, one should step in not only with an open mind, but also with a child like
curiosity, and more importantly, is should be done in solitude. But to go into solitude, Emerson
argues, one should withdraw not only from known places and people, but also of any diversions.
A person surrounded by possessions, by people, and by distractions can hardly, if ever,
experience a solitary state of the mind. Someone wishing to encounter the solitary needs only to
gaze at the stars in the night sky. The light that radiates from those heavenly worlds will separate
between him and what he touches (6). In other words, the deep sense of awe that the stars and the
vastness of the night sky evoke, sets the mind in a state of separation between oneself, and the
tangible world. This sublime quality of the stars facilitates not only a solitary state of mind, but
also brings forth a sense reverence, which is shared by all

After the civil war, businesses began to become big, they grew significantly in size, number and
mostly in influence. Different corporations and businesses grew so much that they had a big

The Effects Of The Gold Rush On Australia
The discovery of gold had lasting effects on Australia. One of the main effects of the gold rushes
was on the growing agricultural industry. Many men who worked on the farms, sheep and cattle

jackaroos, simply left their jobs for the lure of the gold fields.Often, women and children were left

popular. The gold rushes saw the rise of loyal Aboriginal stockmen and jackaroos who were willing
to work long and hard for perhaps less pay than their predecessors. Also, because major gold

British Airways And Ryanair And The Airline Industry
Introduction
In today s business world, Aviation industry is frequently developing rapidly in order to compete
among each other and survive in the larger markets leading to aggregate competition between low
cost/no frills carriers LCC and the more traditional full service carriers FSC (Hunter: 2006). Due to
rapid development, consumer trend tend to improve in the market because flying on mainstream
carriers was no longer cost effective, therefore, low cost carrier was introduced (Whitelegg: 2005).
Subsequently, operation strategy is fundamental to the success of the businesses. Slack, Brandon

Ryanair incorporated at no frills, low cost, quick to reach consumers destinations in a much
modernized aviation industry. For instance, it is more cheaply, and more reliable, than any other
airline including British Airways. They do not compromise on safety, top drawer punctuality, near
perfect baggage handling and efficient green policy. The target markets of this particular airline
are those who compromises on comfort and fare conscious customers. For example: Students, low
income earners, busy businessmen, and family (Ryanair.com). On the other hand, British Airways
strategy is to become the world s leading global premium airline by making cost that is base more
efficiently and focus on outstanding customer service, which is a critical part of their strategy. The
5 strategy goals are to be the airline of choice for long haul premium customers, deliver and
outstanding service for customers at every touch point, grow their presence in key global cities,
build on the leading position in London and meet customers needs and improve margins through
new revenue streams (British Airways PLC .com). The target market of British Airways is leisure
travellers, consumers who want comfort and cost is not an issue (marketingmagazine.co.uk). Both
aviation companies are customers based but they do differ from each other in their operation
strategy.

Different Lines Of Tables Across A Center Platform
uld view the many lines of tables stretching in three directions to converge at a center platform
close to where I was standing. That platform was where the announcements and prayer were going
to be given. Behind the central platform, there was a giant door, through which all the midshipmen
would enter after formation outside. At exactly noon, the midshipmen started to stream into King
Hall through that door. I observed a lot of social activity when they entered. First off, what struck
me is that the difference in classes was immediately distinguishable. It was not simply by the
midshipman s variance of insignia, but there was also a dramatic difference in mood. The
upperclassmen had insignia on their collars, while the freshmen (plebes)... Show more content on

I was also interested in the Naval Academy as it is in my college list. In this particular situation
that I was observing, the upperclassman asked a question, and the midshipman responded
nervously with his answer. I continued to watch, anticipating that the plebe would slip up on
something he had to memorize. I waited and waited, but nothing happened. The plebe was
having a normal conversation with the senior. I was tremendously surprised at this. Ever since I
had gone to the Naval Academy youth swim club (I started when I was six), I had asked
questions and had heard my dad s stories about the Naval Academy. I had heard about the ways
the upperclassmen tended to break the freshmen down as individuals and build them back up as a
team. I understand that this discovery may seem anticlimactic to others, but to me it was huge
shock! As I looked around, I discovered that most, if not all, upperclassmen were cordial to the
plebes at their table. When the meal ended at 12:30, I met with the officer in charge of King Hall,
thanking him for allowing me access to the mess hall. Afterwards, I left the Naval Academy, feeling

Japanese automakers have instituted innovative production methods by modifying the U.S.

Starkey,K. McKinlay, A(2007:75) argues that the rising competition and increasing global trade are
the major factors in improving the global distribution system and has forced many auto giants such
as General Motors, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, and Daimler Chrysler, to shift their
production bases in different developing countries which help them operate efficiently in a globally
competitive marketplace.
Globalisation of the automotive industry
Firms globalize when they attempt to integrate key day to day functions on a global scale, such as

From a geographic point of view, the world automotive industry is in the midst of a profound

Game of Fortune the Role of Virtu Often times we watch many things in our life without
necessarily looking at the context of what we are observing, and taking note of the politics that
take play. Game of Thrones is a series on HBO adapted from the book by George R. R. Martin
that has a number of politically charged issues. The show takes precedence in a land called The
Seven Kingdoms composed of several territories most notable being Westeros. It takes place during
the War of 5 Kings where several opposing factions vie for rule of the Iron Throne (King of the
Seven Kingdoms ) located in Westeros. During this civil war there is a force in the North beyond
the walls that civilized men from The Seven Kingdoms built to hold an ominous (nightwalkers)
force outside their realm. In the show a number of actors points of view are followed. The viewer
watches alliances, trust, deception, fortune, and skill come into play. This spiral of conflict for
possession of the throne started when King Robert Baratheon became ill and died. However,
turmoil for the Iron Throne is nothing new for the land since it had not long ago been ruled by the
Mad King Targaryen whose lineage had ruled the throne for long reign. Conflicts arise among many
of the parties that had invested interest in the throne. Scandals and accusations put many in the
realm at junctions where they must form alliances. As these events transpire

The Cons of Animal Testing Essay
At this moment, millions of animals know cold cages in laboratories as home, but why? Some of
these animals are subjects for medical research purposes, while others are used out of pure curiosity
and to test different products. Majority of these animals are used in painful experiments and are left
in agony. While many of them die, a few animals survive, but these unfortunate ones wish they
could be put out of their misery as well. Although scientists have resources they could use to lower
the pain each animal endures and even alternatives of their test subjects, millions of innocent

That is why people encourage scientists to analyze their entire experiment before they go through
with it. Scientists should also be able to justify the use of a number of animals in a specific
experiment. Researchers need to be able to prove animals were absolutely needed for the
experiment because many scientists have become uncertain about the reliability of the results
fashioned by tests performed on animals. Results produced by an animal do not accurately
determine how a human will react due to differences between their bodily processes, structure, and
digestion. Although there are similarities between humans and animals, there are also many
differences. Animals and humans with the same health problem may not have the same symptoms.
How can an experiment on a rat to test a cancer drug show how a human with cancer will respond to
the same treatment when people themselves react differently to identical cancer treatments? In fact
the American Anti VivisectionSociety (2013) projects nine out of ten drugs that help animals in

experiments that fall short of a cure, but people waiting to be healed are dying when that money

The Stokes radius of a molecule is the effective radius a molecule has as it moves through a
solution. Molecular weight of a molecule is sometimes correlated with the Stokes radius of a
molecule, and thus the elution trend in gel filtration, but this is not without exceptions. Thus,
Stokes radius is a better predictor, because although two molecules may have the same molecular
weight, a longer, more branched molecule will have a larger Stokes radius than a smaller
molecule.1 In the separation of blue dextran, cytochrome c, and potassium chromate, the molecular
weight of the molecules were proportionate to their molecular sizes. The largest molecule, blue
dextran, eluted first, followed by cytochrome c, and then the smallest molecule potassium
chromate. Blue dextran has the largest molecular weight, and potassium chromate has the
smallest. The results for elution order are in accordance with what the theoretical, predicted
results were. The efficiency of the separation was not as ideal as would be predicted on the basis
of molecular weights. The molecular weights of the molecules are 3 orders of magnitude different,
and should produce well resolved peaks.1 Experimental visual results show peak overlapping
around 2mL and 3mL, as the colors were mixed at these elution volumes. This peak overlapping
may be attributed to peak broadening. Peak broadening has many causes, but of particular

basic groups called product group and client coverage group. The primary focus of these two
groups are to perform mergers and acquisitions transaction advisory and financing arrangement for

is the sell side assignment, buy side assignment, merger of equals joint venture, public market
separation and hostile defense. The sell side transaction involves the sale, merger or disposition of
an entire company or any of its divisions and assets. The buy side transaction involves the
purchase of an entire company or any of its divisions and assets. The sell side transaction typically
have the highest priority due to its higher probability of completion compared to the buy side
transactions. Merger of equals joint ventures is the merging of two companies of roughly equal
assets that have a comparable market value. This allows the two companies to form a new and

The Real Lincoln Essay
Abraham Lincoln s presidential career was full of questionable actions. Thomas DiLorenzo author
of, The Real Lincoln discusses Lincoln s actions regarding racism, his refusal to emancipate the
slaves, his continual tendency to act independently of Congress, and his radical reconstruction after
the Civil War. DiLorenzo attacks each of these topics in his book and proves that Lincoln had his
own agenda, and was not the picture perfect president everybody thought that he was.
The overall theme of chapter two is the opposition that Abraham Lincoln and most Northerners had
about racial equality. This theme is made clear very early on in the chapter. Lincoln himself states:

DiLorenzo makes it a point that equality for blacks is none of Lincoln s concerns.
Abraham Lincoln had no clear intentions of emancipating the slaves unless he felt that it was
truly necessary for him to do so. For example, look at the expulsion of Union General John
Fremont who was in charge of the federal government s military efforts in Missouri. The Union
General created an act on August 30th, 1861 to deter the Confederates from their guerilla warfare.
This act granted him Marshall Law throughout the state and gave him the ability to confiscate
property and declare slaves freemen . This angered the Commander In Chief. As a result, Lincoln
removed the General s act and stripped him of his command on November 2nd, 1861.
DiLorenzo put great emphasis on the point that Lincoln was not going to willingly emancipate
anyone, and most of all, that he would not have anyone under his power doing so either.
DiLorenzo also points out that Lincoln only admits any action regarding slavery will take place
unless it is done solely to preserve the integrity of the Union. His actions made it evident that
Lincoln was now willing to ignore the Constitution and claim more doctorial powers. As he stated
over and over, his concern with the issue of slavery was motivated by a desire to use the issue to
save the Union, which was a euphemistic way of saying that he wanted to

Structural Functionalism And Family Analysis
Structural Functionalism is a theory in sociology which states that each part of society is necessary
for the functioning of the social organism. There are several elements in the functionalist paradigm
which explain how society functions in order to maintain the social organism and keep it alive.
These elements of functionalisms are cohesion, integration, solidarity, and equilibrium. These
elements explain how society is divided into different functional parts, with each part depending on

Identity In Joseph Boyden s Three Day Road
An individual s identity is an ever changing composition of a person s aspirations, beliefs and
morality. Identity change is often influenced by many aspects of an individual s life, but
individuals must always return to their roots in order to stay true to their morality. This internal
struggle over one s identity is successfully illustrated in the characters of Three Day Road. In the
novel, Joseph Boyden vividly recounts the journey of two Native Canadian soldiers, Xavier and
Elijah, who struggle with identity loss from the adversity of the Great War. Through their
harrowing experiences from the battlefield, they experience a dissipation of morals which is only
recovered in Xavier, the sole survivor, through Niska s stories of her past, his own past, and of the...

Elijah s tragic descent to madness forewarns the dangers of assuming an identity drastically
different from one s true morality. From the beginning, Elijah felt that there was a need to fit in
with the other soldiers by adopting a British persona when speaking to others. In a shared code
with Grey Eyes, Elijah says, Dear Henry, [...] would you be a kind chap and make me a cup of

his Cree language in favour of a British accent to please his peers. Despite the native language being
an essential part of his childhood identity, Elijah succumbs to the white man s perceived notions of
the Cree language being related to witchcraft as he strips away his native language to fit in with the
others. This sudden transformation to match a white man s identity ultimately results in an identity
crisis that drives him to insanity. Xavier illustrates this when he notices that,

Film and Movement
Photographic technologies brought with them the ability to freeze and capture for unlimited time a
specific moment in time and space. However, these technologies also arose issues surrounding
concepts of art and reproduction right along side depiction of reality through certain medium.
Walter Benjamin s essay The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction and Siegfried
Kracauer s, Basic Concepts, in Theory of Film, seek to convey the relationship between film and its
ability to capture movement in time, concentrating in film s qualities as a medium and its
representation of reality. Nevertheless, they disclosed divergent, yet, related ideas and concepts
about the representation of reality and movement. Before exploring the ability of film to capture
movement, it is necessary to express the difference of film and still photography. Film was not
expected to become a social political tool. Its origins with Lumiere brothers popularized it as a
medium for the reproduction of reality, capturing a moment in time in a sequence of photograph .
It contextualize the still images of a simple photographs and recreated the real world. However,
film and photography share many key concepts. As Kracauer mentions in his essay, the nature of

Finally, the essay will conclude by suggesting several strategies or solutions which can be
practically used to combat the issues that are being faced. What are the Emerging Market
Multinationals?
Emerging market multinationals are companies with operation bases in at least one other country
from their home bases (West, 2015). They have varied ownership models with the national or local
governments often being part owners of the company as in the case of resource or energy
companies. Family or private ownership is also a popular ownership model. They are also multi
industrial in nature with the company operating multiple sectors in the home country and
internationalizing in only one or two of these (West, 2015).
Emerging Market Multinationals mainly emerged because domestic companies in developed
countries saw a shift in growth pattern once they reached the peak of their economic curve. Growth
slowed down and even became stagnant. This was primarily because the markets in the developed
countries had already reached their optimum levels. On the other hand, this was the period of time
when developing countries began to experience rapid economic growth. This prompted companies
to look towards the potential and resources of these emerging markets as their source of salvation

sexual lives than previous generations, they are struggling with the paradoxes of their relationships
and desires. Bell suggests that social expectations and culture guidelines, which are conventions of
femalesexuality and stereotypes of being a good girl, prevent these young women from pursuing
their sexual desires and limiting their relationships with men. However, even these women have
chosen the way they live and what kind of sexual life they want in order to be bad girls to break
those old rules, they ended with losing their identities. In general, female sexuality is impacted

Mark, This week, Noel and I met with his academic counselor to discuss his 10th grade course
load and graduation. As of right now, he is on track for university admission. In fact, Noel is
currently working towards the scholar and merit designations (something students can earn for
going above the standard diploma). Also, his counselor advised us he may qualify for bright
futures, depending on his upcoming SAT or ACT scores. She also went over Noel s current grades,
which I ve attached below, and his GPA. All in all, he s doing very well for just finishing up 9th

Why Is The Death Penalty Right Or Wrong
Look into the mirror and know, you could be next. A criminal could walk through your door at
any moment, and do God awful things to you. The death penalty is our greatest form of fear; it
might scare a criminal not to viciously commit murder. Only 31 states have the death penalty,
although all states should have it (ProCon). Why should a killer be allowed to sit in prison, living,
while their victims are dead? On this issue, people who oppose the death penalty say that the death
penalty is inhumane (Zakeri). Although I understand their point of view, this is ultimately a
question of right or wrong. Religion, financial strain on taxpayers, and victim s rights, are just a few
of the reasons that capital punishmentshould be supported.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is unconditionally true. Furthermore, if a man meticulously plans out a murder, commits it,
then he should be put to death. Capital Punishment is used to put cold blooded psychopaths
away, and to have their lives taken away. Taxpayers on average pay about $90,000 more per year
for each prisoner on death row (Death Penalty Information Center). Kansas legislators found that
death penalty cases cost citizens about $1.26 million per case (Amnesty International). In
Maryland, the average cost of a case is $3 million (Death Penalty Information Center). However
some people argue that it is alright for us to pay taxes on murderers, they are clearly wrong; I
protest that we should not pay taxes on killers, because our money could go to better things such
as, schools. highways, and medicine (Feingold). Although some people comment that life in
prison is a more severe punishment than being put to death, I beg to differ, because of the fact
that killers are still living, and their victims are not (ProCon). It is funny how people on death
row live a life of leisure, even though they slayed a human being. Danny Hembree Jr., killed 17
year old Heather Catterion, wrote a letter to the Gaston Gazelein Newspaper, in North Carolina,
gloating about his life in luxury on death row. He said that he watches television in the air
conditioning, takes naps at will, eats three hot meals a day, and reads whenever he

A Lack Of Dignity By Ernest J. Gaines
A lack of dignity was shown throughout A Lesson Before Dying in the characters of Grant,
Jefferson, Miss Emma, Tante Lou, and Vivian. All of these characters in the novel struggled with
their lack of human morals which reflected on their impertinent actions towards themselves and
among others. The story takes place in the1940 s small Cajun town of Bayonne, Louisiana. In this
time period there was an abundance of racial segregation between african americanpeople and a
strong bias towards white people. This shouldn t be an excuse or reason of why there was very little
dignity throughout the novel. Furthermore, Ernest J. Gainesgives us plenty of examples of how
these characters showed this lack of dignity among themselves and others. Grant Wiggins, a
school teacher, is the most educated man in the community. He s been to the university and
came back home to teach at the same school that he went to growing up as a child. This is an
achievement of itself , and most of the people in his community show him lots of respect for
taking on this ruthless job. Unfortunately, his lack of dignity is shown by him seeing his work at
the school as being useless or unworthy. His perspective towards his own community is that
nothing ever changes and that all of these years of slavery had brought his people s advancement
to a sudden stop. Because of this feeling Grant shows several times in the novel that he wants to
leave town and start a new life somewhere else. He says in the novel,

Divergent by Veronica Roth Essay example
In life, each person, book, movie, and much more contains a worldview or outlook on life as a
whole. Lao Tzu states that a worldview is, When people see some things as beautiful, other
things become ugly. When people see some things as good, other things become bad. Despite the
fact that most people, movies, books, and other components in life do not realize that they have a
worldview, in reality, they actually do. One specific example of an element in society that contains
a worldview, is the action filled and world renowned book entitled Divergent. This specific
element contains a striking plotline, worldview, and purpose in order to catch the attention of
people around the world. Beatrice Prior lives in a dystopian world... Show more content on

This is no exception in the book Divergent. The society in Divergent split into five distinct factions
known as Candor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, and Erudite. From this information, one can infer
the worldview depicted in this novel is that one choice defines who a person is forever. This
worldview is seen all throughout the book, due to the author s focus on choice. The characters are
forced to choose which faction they wish to reside in, thus possibly leaving all that they
previously had known and grown accustomed to. This reality is brutally true for Beatrice Prior
as she is forced to come to grips with making this type of decision. Upon making her ultimate
decision to join Dauntless she states, This is what I chose. This is it. Numerous other decisions
are put in front of Beatrice Prior throughout the plot, therefore proving the worldview in
Divergent to be rooted in decisions and choices. These choices, in turn, have a long term effect
on someone s life. The worldview in any novel is brought to life by the author. Taking a look at
the author of Divergent, known as Veronica Roth, one immediately comes to the conclusion that
she is a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. She freely professes her faith and love for the Lord;
therefore, one can see the intricate parallels from Divergent to the Scriptures. For example, the
concept of one choice defining the rest of a person s life or destiny is similar to the monumental
choice made in the Garden of Eden, which

Nonviolent Resistance Cesar Chavez Summary
Due to the importance of his life and death, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a symbol of justice and
peace. In Cesar Chavez s article published on the tenth anniversary of Dr. King s death, he alludes
to the achievements of King s life of nonviolent actions to argue against violence. Chavez s
comparisons of ideas and words strengthen his argument about nonviolent resistance.
Chavez compares his argument with his opposition s argument of violent resistance. This contrast
makes one argument seem better. The author promotes nonviolent resistance as our means of
achieving justice for our people, which may seem like a lofty task, but not when the other option
brings no honor to any class or community. Blatantly minimizing violence reveals its ... Show more

This repeated strategy allows the reader to draw the connotation from the words into the arguments.
Chavez promotes this by describing nonviolence with the words such as power, support and justice.
These words have a strong, positive connotation, which is then applied to nonviolence. Giving his
argument the aforementioned strong, positive connotation appeals to the pathos of his readers and
further validates his argument. Chavez proceeds to critique violent resistance in the same way he
validated nonviolence. By including words with negative connotations, such as shortcut,
demoralization, and exploit, violence resistance receives the strong negative connotation these
words have. With the article published in the magazine of a religious organization, Chavez s
audience consisted of religious people devoted to helping those in need. Even when Chavez is
looking to the religious component of nonviolent resistance, he includes comparisons to strengthen
his argument. After Chavez describes human life [a]s a very special possession given by God he
emphasizes that no one has the right to take it for any reason. These opposing positions create a
clear choice for the religious readers to support, which is also Chavez s position. When the text is
examined beyond its surface appearance, the contrasting connotations support the growth of

1.What do you think is the clinical importance of the FVC and FEV1 values? FVC measures the
amount of gases expelled when a subject takes a deep breath, then exhales maximally. While FEV1
determines the amount of air expelled during the first second. Why do you think the ratio of these
two values is important to the clinician when diagnosing lung disease? Because it is a determining
factor as to whether the patient has healthy lungs, pulmonary disease, or restrictive disease.

Blankets In First Nation Connotations
Throughout the centuries, the gift of a blanket has been associated with feelings of warmth,
respect and kindness from those giving a blanket towards those receiving it. Our article below
covers just a few of the aspects that come to mind when we give a blanket as a gift or even when
we dream about blankets in a dream or see one in a vision of sorts.
Blankets In First Nation Connotations
Depending on the particular first nation identity, such as Dakota, or even down to specific tribes
within a first nation, the blanket may mean something different from one national identity to
another. Moreover, they may be given during different times for various reasons.
For instance, a respected Teton Sioux elder may choose to wrap a wool blanket around ... Show

In other words, the spirit of the father transfers to the younger who then passes it on to perhaps a
misunderstood child later on in life. Essentially, with the mere laying on of a blanket on their
shoulders or on their backs, an adoption process takes place; moreover, the family and tribe grows
with subsequent members who then become part of the community.
Blanket Giving In Other Cultures
Once again, depending on the culture in which blankets are given, blankets become talismans and
take on a spiritual dimension especially when worn in some dance ritual. Blankets can symbolize
transitions in life such as weddings, graduations or new additions to a family. They can also mean
legendary events, stories and the culture s heritage.
As such, they express a form of craftsmanship, artistry, history and the represented culture itself.
Blankets can even facilitate travel by transferring the spirits of those who gave them as companions
on a distance journey.
In some South African and Lesotho cultures, blankets mark rites of passage. In certain parts of
China, blankets are among the most cherished gifts that are commonly given. For the Australian
and New Zealand Aboriginals, they believe that the giving of blankets initiates a stream of good
dreams and

Patrick Henry Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death
Leeanne N. Weeks
October 6, 2017
American Revolution Leader: Patrick Henry
Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death this quote was said by Patrick Henry in March 23, 1775.
When Patrick Henry was only 15 years old, he had a business with his father. The business they
had didn t last that long. Then he married Sarah Shelton in 1754. He also studied to be a lawyer.
In 1757 he and his wife lost their farm house to a fire.
Patrick Henry is an American Revolution hero who played an important role during the
Revolutionary War because he was a big leader. He was a Virginialawyer and a politician.
He was an outspoken opponent in the stamp act and in the Townshend act by authority of
England. Patrick was an amazing public speaker and a big figure of the American Revolution, he
was best known for his words Give me liberty or give me death
Henry was selected in 1774 to assign the continental congress in Philadelphia. There he met Sam
Adams and they together were excited to fire for the revolution war. During the moment henry
called the colonists to come together in their position to overcome the British. The next year,
henry gave his most known famous speech of his entire career. He was one of the people to
represent the Virginia Convention in March 1775. The group was thinking how they are going to
get things over with, with the crisis of Great Britain. He wanted everything to go buy smooth full
and end with peace.

Professor s comment: This student uses a feminist approach to shift our value judgment of two
works in a surprisingly thought provoking way. After showing how female seduction in Malory s
story of King Arthur is crucial to the story as a whole, the student follows with an equally serious
analysis of Monty Python s parody of the female seduction motif in what may be the most
memorable and hilarious episode of the film.
Much of the humor in Monty Python and the Holy Grail derives from the pure absurdity of its
characters and situations. King Arthur roams the British countryside on an imaginary horse, evil

For example, when Sir Mellyagaunce kidnaps the queen, Lancelot undergoes much physical
hardship to rescue her, including confronting archers, crossing rough terrain, and escaping
imprisonment. Another time, when Sir Mador de la Porte accuses Queen Guinevere of treason,
Lancelot enters into trial by combat in the queen s defense. Mador gravely injures him in the battle:
Sir Mador...smote [Lancelot] through the thick of the thighs, that the blood brast out fiercely.
And...[Lancelot] felt himself so wounded and saw his blood. (124 125) In addition to such physical
pain, the queen often causes Lancelot great emotional distress. Once, for instance, Guinevere
devastates Lancelot when she wrongly accuses him of being unfaithful to her and angrily banishes
him from her court: Right so Sir Lancelot departed [Camelot] with great heaviness that unneth him
might sustain himself for great dole making (115).
Not only does Lancelot s affair with Guinevere cause him a great deal of suffering, it wreaks
havoc on the lives of many other men as well. For instance, their affair brings tragedy to Sir
Gawain and his family. Lancelot kills Gawain s innocent brothers, Sir Gaheris and Sir Gareth, while
rescuing the queen from being executed for adultery. Sir Gawain consequently instigates a blood

  • 3. Short Story Of All The Sayings About America When we think of America, we think of the land of opportunities, freedom, and equality. However, there s another side to all the sayings about America; some good, some bad. My story starts on the first day of kindergarten at Our lady of Fatima back in 2007. I felt nervous, and scared; it was the first time I ve been near people who were different from me. Their appearance, the way they talked, and the clothes they wore all seemed weird to me. Especially the way they talked, I couldn t understand some of the words they were saying. Were they saying someone s one name? The reason why this felt weird to me was, because of my previous schoolin India, where I stayed for two years to learn about my culture and education. All the people I ve seen ... • 4. Timpanogo s Cave Research Paper Hansen, Middle, and Timpanogos Caves are natural cavities that are engulfed in darkness and large enough that humans can enter and explore. Martin Hansen discovered the Hansen cave in 1887; the other two caves were later discovered. The Entrance Room is the first stop on the tour of these caves. Cave formations , or speleothems, are from mineral deposits. Located within this spot is Hershey s Kiss , which is formed by dripping water, called stalagmites. Visitors have to stay on the paved, lighted trail, can t touch anything inside the cave and are told to avoid low formations; these rules are to protect individuals from any harm and to preserve the features of the cave. A man made tunnel connects Hansen and Middle cave that was built between 1937 and 1938. Doors were built on each entrance to prevent the cave from drying out, because formations need ... Other formations surround the great heart. Tours show a red light shown through the heart; this is not natural. The Camel Room has many examples of different formations. Columns form when stalactites join stalagmites. Shields are located on sloping oval plates that are fringed with helictites along a medial crack. Salt and Pepper are two small stalagmites. People used to be able to touch the salt and pepper shakers, but have been discolored and polished. • 5. Fiscal Policy ( Private And Public ) For any economy, fiscal policy has two primary goals, an economic goal and a social goal. Regarding the economic goal, fiscal policy has to ensure suitable and sustainable economic growth rates that maintain unemployment rate at its natural level and at the same time do not generate inflationary pressures. At social level, on the other hand, fiscal policy has to ensure a degree of equity regarding the distribution of incomes in the economy, and to direct considerable part of available resources toward essential investments that provide necessary goods and services consumed mainly by the vast majority of population. 3.1 Evaluating the Economic Role of Fiscal Policy Investment spending (private and public) is the main engine to stimulate economic growth. Securing adequate savings is a prerequisite for any investment spending; however, investment projects need not just to secure adequate funding to cover their investment costs during construction periods, as they also need to secure adequate demand for their production to cover operational costs and to obtain appropriate return on investment during operational periods. While fiscal policy is playing a significant role in securing requirements of investment, domestic savings and aggregate demand for domestic production; then it is considered a governor element in determining the extent of investment prosperity and indispensible tool in correcting the imbalance between domestic investment, consumption and savings. 3.1.1 ... • 6. Young Earth Realism Vs. Old Earth Creationism This book has taught me far beyond what I expected, perhaps while reading this book I learned much more about the Genesis 1 account than I ever learned in my entire life. Miller and Soden might argue that my lack of study in this area is a result of being a group thinker rather than an individual thinker (30). Looking at both the Young Earth creationism(YEC) and the Old earth creationism (OEC) views for the first time, I realized that during my time at Moody Bible Institute I am really seeking to be challenged in my beliefs with by no means making it some kind of test for orthodoxy. Even though both the YEC and OEC views have strong arguments the aim of this essay is to demonstrate what I took away from this book which was written by two advocate of the OEC belief. At the beginning of the book Miller and Soden argues that the people who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I particularly enjoyed learning about how the offspring of Abraham that had spent hundreds of years in exile in Egypt has been affected by their religious beliefs. More specifically their belief on creation since they have the most similarities with the one in Genesis 1. Miller and Soden said that sometimes our observation of the world may require us to reconsider our understanding of the text because we have not adequately understood the text in its original context. I agree with this statement more than ever before; my mind is blown by this book. Genesis 1:2 talks about the earth being formless, void. Darkness and deep. Similarly, the Egyptian belied for creation is that the earth was watery, unilluminated, with darkness and imperceptibility. Additionally, the separation from the light to darkness occurs in both account. The conundrum of having light created before the sun is in place in Genesis 1:3, also happen in the Egyptian account light is created before the sun rises in its place (Miller and Soden ... Now, looking back at the Gunpowder Plot it can be stated that it fits the definition on each point that Symeonidou Kastanidou (2004) brings about. They were a group of thirteen skilled man, who planned an attack on parliament. Attack was planned over the certain period of time, they had finance and equipment (thirty six barrels of gunpowder, fuse and a fire) to carry out an attack. Equipped with religious grievances and the intention to kill the King and members of the parliament (symbolic place, that is where all the mischief happened according to Catesby). Death of the king would have had brought change of the regime from the Protestant rule to the Catholic reign or created social dissatisfaction and condemnation (Fraser, 1996). It is Conan Doyle s second novel to feature detective Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes is a master detective, known for his deduction skills, disguises and most importantly, his use of the city as means of solving mysteries. The cityscape plays a significant role in the narrative of The Sign of Four. Conan Doyle uses real places found in London in The Sign of Four. It gives the novel a degree of realism, and Holmes the detective appears genuine to the reader. He certainly knows his way through the streets of London. His biggest advantage as a detective in London is use of networking. The Baker Street Irregulars are a group of homeless children Conan Doyle included in his Sherlock Holmes series several times. They are Sherlock s eyes and ears on the streets of London, as he notes they can go everywhere, see everything, overhear everyone (Conan Doyle 93) He can gather them all together with the help of their leader Wiggins, and then inform them of what they should keep an eye out for. They can assemble within a few hours, and are immediately ready to work. They provide unparalleled access to the murkiest parts of London s underground. It is in The Sign of Four that Holmes notes this is just the case where they might be invaluable (Conan Doyle 89). Holmes manages to navigate the problems that the modern cityscape of the late 1800s throws at him, namely limited means of transport, by spreading his eyes and ears thinly across London. While it may be helpful to the cause, Holmes ultimately uses the Baker Street Irregulars to do his dirty work for him. This goes against the belief that Sherlock Holmes is a detective who avoids the harming of innocent people by using his mighty intelligence to solve crimes. • 14. The Reentry Policy Brief Provides Executive Summary The Reentry policy brief provides input to the Task Force set up by Florida Governor Rick Scott to reduce the number of incarcerated juveniles and avoid increasing the already wide racial disparities of the incarcerated population of juveniles. Most reentry facilities in Florida are run by reentry programs that were expanded from Transition from Prison to Community (TPC) and Transition from Jail to Community (TJC) models. Yet these programs appear to not have fully addressed recidivism among juveniles and are also not tailored to lower the widening racial disparities among the incarcerated juvenile population. Better evidence based reentry practices are needed to ensure that these programs are not only effective in discontinuing the cycle of recidivism but also address the disproportionate minority contact. A growing body of research demonstrates that comprehensive multi dimensional reentry frameworks increase the chances of reentry programs stopping the cycle of crime among Florida s juvenile offenders. A comprehensive multi dimensional reentry program refers to a standardized program that is implemented statewide and which incorporates evidence based practices such as assessment of needs and risks, individual case planning, and cognitive behavioral interventions. Most scientists will tell you that Global Warming is mostly the cause of humans. While there are some who will disagree and say that it is just nature doing what it has done for thousands of years. For most scientists the topic of global warmingis one that is caused by us humans. They have many facts data to back this up. Some examples of these facts and data are the change in CO2 levels in the atmosphere, the rapid increase in temperature, stronger storms such as hurricanes, melting ice caps, decrease in permafrost, and the Larsen A B ice shelves. Over the past 30 years the intensity of hurricanes has doubled over the past 30 years, according to multiple studies. As the temperatures of our oceans increase in temperature hurricanes will continue to gain strength and continuously intensify over the next few years. The increase in ocean temperatures doesn t just affect things above the surface it also affect life underneath. As temperatures increase it directly affects the coral, by interfering with the coral s process involved in photosynthesis. Without photosynthesis the coral and zooxanthellae wouldn t be able to take the nitrogen waste that the coral produces and turns the sunlight into sugar, which makes up 98% of the coral s food. When the temperatures rise the coral then reacts and split with their mutualistic algae and the coral then turns white. The process in which the coral turns white is called bleaching. Without coral reefs hundreds of thousands of marine life that rely on coral reefs will eventually die along with the reefs. In the debate of Global Warming in my opinion humans are the main cause. And some more of how this can be attributed to us is the thawing of permafrost, and melting ice caps. Permafrost is a big example because places where permafrost can be found is also where some towns and communities are built, right on top of the permafrost. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Forrester s Cloud Computing Essay AUTHORS: SATYAJEET BINWADE ROLL NO.: 1941 (FE9) ASHISH MOKASHI ROLL NO.: 1913 (FE9) INTRODUCTION Forrester defines cloud computing as: A pool of abstracted, highly scalable and managed compute infrastructure capable of hosting end customer and applications billed by consumption. As the name suggests, cloud computing is a way of storing the data on a server instead of a hardware so that we can access the data from the compatible devices. This method gives us more ease of accessibility and we can also secure our data by giving limited access through a username and password to the server being used. Nowadays, most of the people use mobile phones which have an internal memory of 8 GB or 16 GB. If we need extra memory then we shall have to extend it using a memory card. If the inbuilt memory of mobile phone would be more, the cost of production will increase, resulting in decrease in market of the device. And as we all know, the support to external storage like memory card is also limited for a phone. It is problematic to carry a pen drive along with us everywhere. The other problem is the data stored is vulnerable to viruses. To overcome these problems, cloud computing was introduced. This gives freedom to access or share data without hardware. Cloud services exhibits of online file storage, social networking sites, web mail and online business applications. These are the services which changed the face of networking. • 20. The Poetic Mind Of Ralph Waldo Emerson Long Essay Essay 1: Solitude Nature. THE POETIC MIND. Nature, Ralph Waldo Emerson long essay, was written in 1836, and at the time it presented very progressive ideas. Not only Nature presented a novel way to connect with God, but it also changed, to some extent, previous beliefs about the natural world. For most of human history the wilderness was a place that provoked fear and meant trouble. Emerson argued differently, for him nature was part of God s creation, and, thus could not mean any harm .Furthermore, he asserted that to truly experience the richness of the natural world, one should step in not only with an open mind, but also with a child like curiosity, and more importantly, is should be done in solitude. But to go into solitude, Emerson argues, one should withdraw not only from known places and people, but also of any diversions. A person surrounded by possessions, by people, and by distractions can hardly, if ever, experience a solitary state of the mind. Someone wishing to encounter the solitary needs only to gaze at the stars in the night sky. The light that radiates from those heavenly worlds will separate between him and what he touches (6). In other words, the deep sense of awe that the stars and the vastness of the night sky evoke, sets the mind in a state of separation between oneself, and the tangible world. This sublime quality of the stars facilitates not only a solitary state of mind, but also brings forth a sense reverence, which is shared by all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Stokes radius of a molecule is the effective radius a molecule has as it moves through a solution. Molecular weight of a molecule is sometimes correlated with the Stokes radius of a molecule, and thus the elution trend in gel filtration, but this is not without exceptions. Thus, Stokes radius is a better predictor, because although two molecules may have the same molecular weight, a longer, more branched molecule will have a larger Stokes radius than a smaller molecule.1 In the separation of blue dextran, cytochrome c, and potassium chromate, the molecular weight of the molecules were proportionate to their molecular sizes. The largest molecule, blue dextran, eluted first, followed by cytochrome c, and then the smallest molecule potassium chromate. Blue dextran has the largest molecular weight, and potassium chromate has the smallest. The results for elution order are in accordance with what the theoretical, predicted results were. DiLorenzo makes it a point that equality for blacks is none of Lincoln s concerns. Abraham Lincoln had no clear intentions of emancipating the slaves unless he felt that it was truly necessary for him to do so. For example, look at the expulsion of Union General John Fremont who was in charge of the federal government s military efforts in Missouri. The Union General created an act on August 30th, 1861 to deter the Confederates from their guerilla warfare. This act granted him Marshall Law throughout the state and gave him the ability to confiscate property and declare slaves freemen . This angered the Commander In Chief. As a result, Lincoln removed the General s act and stripped him of his command on November 2nd, 1861. DiLorenzo put great emphasis on the point that Lincoln was not going to willingly emancipate anyone, and most of all, that he would not have anyone under his power doing so either. DiLorenzo also points out that Lincoln only admits any action regarding slavery will take place unless it is done solely to preserve the integrity of the Union. His actions made it evident that Lincoln was now willing to ignore the Constitution and claim more doctorial powers. Emerging market multinationals are companies with operation bases in at least one other country from their home bases (West, 2015). They have varied ownership models with the national or local governments often being part owners of the company as in the case of resource or energy companies. Family or private ownership is also a popular ownership model. They are also multi industrial in nature with the company operating multiple sectors in the home country and internationalizing in only one or two of these (West, 2015). Emerging Market Multinationals mainly emerged because domestic companies in developed countries saw a shift in growth pattern once they reached the peak of their economic curve. Growth slowed down and even became stagnant. This was primarily because the markets in the developed countries had already reached their optimum levels. On the other hand, this was the period of time when developing countries began to experience rapid economic growth. This prompted companies to look towards the potential and resources of these emerging markets as their source of salvation and develop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Why Is The Death Penalty Right Or Wrong Look into the mirror and know, you could be next. A criminal could walk through your door at any moment, and do God awful things to you. The death penalty is our greatest form of fear; it might scare a criminal not to viciously commit murder. Only 31 states have the death penalty, although all states should have it (ProCon). Why should a killer be allowed to sit in prison, living, while their victims are dead? On this issue, people who oppose the death penalty say that the death penalty is inhumane (Zakeri). Although I understand their point of view, this is ultimately a question of right or wrong. Religion, financial strain on taxpayers, and victim s rights, are just a few of the reasons that capital punishmentshould be supported.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is unconditionally true. Furthermore, if a man meticulously plans out a murder, commits it, then he should be put to death. Capital Punishment is used to put cold blooded psychopaths away, and to have their lives taken away. Taxpayers on average pay about $90,000 more per year for each prisoner on death row (Death Penalty Information Center). Kansas legislators found that death penalty cases cost citizens about $1.26 million per case (Amnesty International). In Maryland, the average cost of a case is $3 million (Death Penalty Information Center). However some people argue that it is alright for us to pay taxes on murderers, they are clearly wrong; I protest that we should not pay taxes on killers, because our money could go to better things such as, schools. highways, and medicine (Feingold). Although some people comment that life in prison is a more severe punishment than being put to death, I beg to differ, because of the fact that killers are still living, and their victims are not (ProCon). It is funny how people on death row live a life of leisure, even though they slayed a human being. Danny Hembree Jr., killed 17 year old Heather Catterion, wrote a letter to the Gaston Gazelein Newspaper, in North Carolina, gloating about his life in luxury on death row. • 47. A Lack Of Dignity By Ernest J. Gaines A lack of dignity was shown throughout A Lesson Before Dying in the characters of Grant, Jefferson, Miss Emma, Tante Lou, and Vivian. All of these characters in the novel struggled with their lack of human morals which reflected on their impertinent actions towards themselves and among others. The story takes place in the1940 s small Cajun town of Bayonne, Louisiana. In this time period there was an abundance of racial segregation between african americanpeople and a strong bias towards white people. This shouldn t be an excuse or reason of why there was very little dignity throughout the novel. Furthermore, Ernest J. Gainesgives us plenty of examples of how these characters showed this lack of dignity among themselves and others. Grant Wiggins, a school teacher, is the most educated man in the community. He s been to the university and came back home to teach at the same school that he went to growing up as a child. This is an achievement of itself , and most of the people in his community show him lots of respect for taking on this ruthless job. Unfortunately, his lack of dignity is shown by him seeing his work at the school as being useless or unworthy. His perspective towards his own community is that nothing ever changes and that all of these years of slavery had brought his people s advancement to a sudden stop. Because of this feeling Grant shows several times in the novel that he wants to leave town and start a new life somewhere else. He says in the novel, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is no exception in the book Divergent. The society in Divergent split into five distinct factions known as Candor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, and Erudite. From this information, one can infer the worldview depicted in this novel is that one choice defines who a person is forever. This worldview is seen all throughout the book, due to the author s focus on choice. The characters are forced to choose which faction they wish to reside in, thus possibly leaving all that they previously had known and grown accustomed to. This reality is brutally true for Beatrice Prior as she is forced to come to grips with making this type of decision. Upon making her ultimate decision to join Dauntless she states, This is what I chose. This is it. Numerous other decisions are put in front of Beatrice Prior throughout the plot, therefore proving the worldview in Divergent to be rooted in decisions and choices. These choices, in turn, have a long term effect on someone s life. The worldview in any novel is brought to life by the author. Taking a look at the author of Divergent, known as Veronica Roth, one immediately comes to the conclusion that she is a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. She freely professes her faith and love for the Lord; therefore, one can see the intricate parallels from Divergent to the Scriptures. For example, the concept of one choice defining the rest of a person s life or destiny is similar to the monumental choice made in the Garden of Eden, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chavez s comparisons of ideas and words strengthen his argument about nonviolent resistance. Chavez compares his argument with his opposition s argument of violent resistance.
