Essay Thomas Jefferson and Monticello
A person s house can show you a lot about that person. In my own room you would probably find
that I have a big appreciation for books, but don t you wonder what the inventor and third president
s house showed you what he was like? Thomas Jefferson was a very important man; however, there
are many more sides to him than you think. Initially, the Northeast Portico displays Thomas
Jeffersons deep appreciation for Architecture. Jefferson himself got the idea for this wall from
James Gibb s Book of Architecture. He used the book and designed a wall based on one of his
designs. The original blueprint was supposed to be used for an octagonal structure, and Jefferson
used it for just one wall. This shows that Jefferson cares for architecture... Show more content on

Next, his Mandan Buffalo Robe also shows his understanding of history and the arts. Most
painted robes were used as traditional clothing and articles of trade for Native Americans. Some
of these robes are painted with a scene usually a scene that the person receiving the robe fought
in. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark sent a package to Thomas Jefferson filled with seven
buffalo robes one that had a painted scene. Putting a piece from a famous expedition shows that
he is aware that he must preserve a piece of history so that s other can look back at this piece of
history. Thomas Jefferson understands the History and Arts very much, so his Entry Hall reflects
this part of him.
Jefferson s love of people and games are evident in the parlor room. The Parlor Room was filled
with many paintings of important figures and friends of Jefferson s. Benjamin Franklin, George
Washington, and Thomas Jefferson Randolph are just some of the many paintings included in
the parlor. He had used this room as a place to invite friends and colleagues to come over and
play games and have fun. Jefferson included many chairs, in this room to have lots of people over
and allow them to sit down whenever they would like too. The parlor room was often a place for
family weddings, dances, and christenings. A wedding is a cheerful ceremony between two families
joining together. Weddings have families that bring cheer and happiness. An anti social person

How The Material Properties Associated With Different...
OBJECTIVE:
To familiarize oneself of the processes associated with the deep drawing of thin sheet metals to
analyse the factors that influence its behavior. Through this experiment, the differences of the
material properties associated with different rolling directions will be considered and applied to the
deformation of the cup when formed through deep drawing.
THEORY: Please refer to P5: Plastic Properties of Sheet Metallab manual for detailed Theory. [1]
PROCEDURE:
Sheet metal disks, one with a 3.5 inch diameter, two with 4.0 inches and another with 4.5 inches
were first measured for thickness at different distances away from the centre. One of the of 4.0
disks had lines scribed through the centre at 22.5В° intervals and concentric circles drawn at a
distance of 0.25 inches apart. Lubricant oil was then applied to both sides of the specimens prior
to the drawing process and placed in the Hille press using the 3 centering arms to centre the
sample in the correct position. The four specimens were then drawn using the 10 ton Hille Press
with a clamping pressure of 5 tons/in2 at different predetermined draw lengths. The 4.0 non marked
specimen was only half drawn, with the remaining samples fully drawn. Finally, the thicknesses of
the cups were measured at the same locations as prior to forming and recorded.

Assess the extent to which the Wilson Government achieved its objectives by 1970
To assess the Wilson Government which ran from the years 1964 to 1970 you have to look at
what the Labour government promised to achieve if they won the election in 1964. You have to
look at what the changes the Wilson government brought forward in their time in office and how
the personalities of its politician s effects decisions made. The election campaign in 1964 was a
close run contest even though there was a low public approval of the current Prime Minister Alec
Douglas Home. The labour party only won a majority of 3 seats. The reason for the decline in
support for the Conservative party was because of events and scandals such as the Profumo affair ...

It was created because the treasury was seen with being strongly conservative and the high ranks
of the Labour Party considered this as key to Britain s economic failure. The Idea seemed a
successful resolution as France was working on a more planned economy also and had much
higher GDP growth rate. However the reality showed that the government failed in its objectives.
Ironically the problem of this Super Department was that it wasn t planned prior to its
introduction. As George Brown stated I think it is a pity that we didn t produce a Blueprint
setting out precisely what we wanted to achieve . The treasury also went out of its own way to
make the work of the new department fail, reports suggested that Brown s phone was bugged to
allow the Treasury to keep track of the dealings he made and the dealings of the office. Even though
these difficulties Brown still produced the National Plan which aimed at the economic targets set
out in the General Election of 1964. It was an achievement to create this plan which aimed at
stimulating industrial production and exports by encouraging cooperation between the government,
employers and trade unions. It was a success that the plan was drafted however it was a failed
attempt. The grand expansion targets set out in the plan were not met because at the time it was

Analyzing Erikson s Psychosocial Development Theory
Erikson was a theorist who focused on his theory for psychosocial development. The article
Psychosocial Identity Development Theories, highlights the keys points and idea of Erikson s
psychosocial theory. Erikson was very focused on the idea of ego identity and obtaining full
potential. His theory or model stats that, identity formation is based on overcoming conflicts that
individuals encounter during adolescent and early childhood. (Karkouti, 2014, p.257) He believed
that all people must endure certain conflicts in their lives, and then overcome them in order to
obtain their ego identity. The idea of psychosocial development is focused on social conflicts, and
environmental factors. In the psychosocial model that Erikson created, it places people into eight
stages. In order for someone to move on to the next stage, they must first overcome the conflict
presented to them in the stage that they are in. A well established identity will get stronger the
more that conflict is successfully resolved. The eight stages are basic trust versus mistrust,
autonomy versus shame and doubt, initiative verses guilt, industry versus inferiority, identity versus
identity diffusion, intimacy versus isolation, generativity versus stagnation, and ego integrity
versus despair. In this article, it not only focuses on the main idea for psychosocial development,
but it continues by then saying that the theory has two criticisms, stages are descriptive and they
are difficult to be empirically

Romeo And Juliet Narrative Voice Essay
Consider the narrative voices in Michelle and in Romeo and Juliet Act 1, Scene 5, Lines 44 53. In
both cases, a male character is expressing his enthusiastic response of affection to a female
character. What do these sources when considered together say about how males first express their
romantic feelings. Michelle is written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Michelle is a love
ballad about a man who is expressing his feelings to a female, but has to speak another language
because, she does not speak English. Similarly, Romeo, in William Shakespeare s play Romeo and
Juliet, expresses his ardent emotions of affection upon laying his eyes on Juliet for the first time.

conveys his emotions by saying, Sont les monts qui vont tres bien ensemble ,(Doc. 1). The

Romeo is taking a deep examination of his feelings and expressing them verbally when he say
that even the Earth can not contain such beauty and he also says that her beauty is so much that

The Causes Of Crime
Crime can never be eliminated in the world and it would be abnormal if it ever did happen in
society. Perhaps, a society without crime is a spiral of our own imagination. Crime can be
related to intra class struggles because it still makes an impact in America. In today s society
crime is a norm for many cities in America. According to Forbes, St. Louis is the most dangerous
city in America in 2017. Why are there increasing rates of crime over the last decade? What are
the reasons for crime? The reasons of crime can stem from poverty, unemployment, politics, drug
abuse, and recurring individuals in and out of prison. In past history, former Mayor Richard J. Daley
was involved in a corruption scandal. There is a history of corruption by officials in Chicago
because they would use the political machine to gain political support to win in office. This
machine is produced by a boss or group that demands the support of other officials through
scandalous control. Daley allowed the poor to suffer and the richer get wealthier. The purpose is to
gain control over a particular area. In today s society, the machine is still seen today in Chicago s
Police Department. Durkheim argues that crime makes society functions as a whole. He states that
crime is normal because it generates the collective sentiment. Collective sentiments reinforce the
values and ethical standards that society has brought forth to follow. The rules that are broken are
established

The Issue Of Disciplinary Infractions For High School...
On Monday, February 29, 2016, I interviewed Dr. K. Wallace, District Administrator for Jefferson
County Public School District. The interview was on the topic of ethical fairness in education. Dr.
Wallace discussed the issue of disciplinary infractions for high school students. He pointed out that
bullying and acts of violence are becoming a major problem for administrators. According to Dr.
Wallace, administrators must learn how to strike a balance in respecting the rights of children and
eradicating acts of bullying and violence.
According to Dr. Wallace, two students at Jefferson County High Schoolwere scheduled a due
process hearing for bullying. He revealed that the two students had made threats on social media
and brought weapons to school. However, the two students alleged that they were the ones being
bullied and only brought the weapons to protect themselves from a gang of girls and their parents.
The two young ladies are academic scholars and have no prior disciplinary history.
Dr. Wallace maintained that there is a need to adopt common sense policies that adequately address
bullying and consequences for it. He contended that all stakeholders must be held accountable in
order to eliminate this issue. Dr. Wallace suggested that school district personnel receive
professional development on properly handling acts of violence and bullying. He also noted that
school leaders must provide their staff with the tools and resources to identify and address bullying.

Psycho Dynamic Concepts And Therapies
Throughout the years and despite the endless scientific research, many have come to believe that
psycho dynamic concepts and therapies are not as effective as other therapies. However, Shedler
(2010) believes that the misconception of the ineffectiveness of psycho dynamic concepts and
therapies are mainly because of the distaste that exists in the mental health professions due to the
hierarchical medical establishment that used to deny training to non MDs and adopted a
dismissive stance towards research (Shedler, pg. 98, 2010). As a result, research was disregarded
and the spot light was placed on the emerging new therapies that were widely welcomed by the
academicians whilst the psycho dynamic therapies received very limited attention.... Show more

These concepts aid the client to become aware and explore aspects of themselves that are not aware
of. The therapy sessions are not as frequent as those of other therapies and treatment is not limited
to a particular number of visit. Psychodynamic therapy does not only focus on relieving the client s
presenting problem, but also positively influence other aspects of the client s life: relationships, self
esteem, satisfying sexual experiences, understanding of self and others while encouraging self
discovery, just to make a few. Psychodynamic therapy assists the client in uncovering the layers of
one s self and allowing the client to reach deeper within them for healing.
When applying the theory to practice, a clinician yields for results by overall assessing the client s
current wellbeing and comparing that to the original baseline. A meta analytic review by Shedler
(2010), explores and confirms the effectiveness of Psychodynamic therapy. Shedler (2010) found
in a study by Abbass, Hancock, Henderson, Kisely, 2006), that clients who received short term
psycho dynamic therapy yield a 0.97 effect size and post treatment 9 month follow up showed an
effect size of 0.51. It is important to also note that post treatment outcomes effect size of 0.81 for
change in somatic symptoms, which increased to 2.21 at long term follow up; an effect size of

What Is Free Will In The Odyssey
Bayley Neville
Dr. Roberts
English 235
October 5, 2015
Free Will or Fate? How does Odysseus decline Circe s offer to become immortal? How does Don
Quixote become a knight? Was it free will or fate? Some may say that the Odyssey is completely
fate based and Don Quixote is entirely based on free will, but the two hold more similarities than
you may realize. Homer, the writer of The Odyssey, focuses mainly on the god s influence of
Odysseus s travels home. Miguel De Cervantes, writer of Don Quixote, uses Quixote s imagination
and decisions to motivate travel. Although they bear some minor similarities, the differences
between The Odyssey and Don Quixote are pronounced. Before discussing the similarities I
would like to go over the differences between the two. In the Odyssey, the gods are responsible
for controlling almost the entire story. They are the reason he gets captured and held for eight
years. They are the cause of the storm that nearly drags Odysseus out to sea. They play a very
important role in this poem. Don Quixote is written much differently than The Odyssey. Don
Quixote has much more freedom to choose what happens in his life. He decides to become a
knight and travel all over. He set off on a journey to help other and to earn his knighthood. He
does this at his own free will, something that Odysseus did not have. Odysseus did not decide to
get held for eight years and then suddenly be released to journey home. This proves that The
Odyssey and Don Quixote are

Fighting computer addiction in kids
(The Philippine Star)
November 28, 2010
MANILA, Philippines The computer may have made life easier and tasks faster. But like all good
things, it can be abused and lead to addiction, especially in children.
They can be so obsessed with computers they no longer have room for ordinary routines in daily
life. Computer addicts run the gamut of video and online game players, viewers of Internet
pornography, people in chat rooms, those who always check their email, download music files,

have disturbed regular time management the way our predecessor in pre computer time made
use of 24 hour cycle so with 30 day monthly cycle and longer. In short, the computer has not only
reset, but tinkered with, the biological clock. What does this mean? We do not follow our
regular sleeping habit, because the computer demands no strict time limit or schedule. Imagine
also that a favorite program on TV is on the computer, especially DVD programs. Computer
addicts may become night owls. Others have developed cat napping which can compensate
partly lost sleep. Not following regular sleeping habits may lead to insomnia. Many drugs today
are for insomniacs. Abuse of sleeping pills is reminiscent of some prominent victims; among
them was Marilyn Monroe who died of overdose. The ever increasing features of the computer

Apostle s Closing Admonitions
The Apostle s Closing Admonitions and Benediction (16:10 24)
E. Harrison (p. 275) summarizes the message of the Epistle in these words: The greatest single
overall emphasis seems to be on the unity of the local church as the body of Christ, which is
brought out not only in connection with the discussion of the groups (i.e.; the factions within the
church), but also in relation to the Lord s Supper and spiritual gifts. A corollary is the sanctity of
the church as members of Christ, both corporately and individually, (note, especially, such
passages as 1 Cor. 3:16 17 and 6:15 20.) We may add, it is in this Epistlethat the Holy Spirit
through the Apostle Paul most eloquently sets forth the supremacy of love as the most excellent
way, which the Christian is called to follow (1 Cor. 12:31b 13:13
The Mystery Surrounding the Missing Letters
The References to Two Other Letters
Sometime after his initial visit to Corinth, probably while he was ministering in Ephesus, Paul
wrote a letter to the church, a letter to which he alludes in 1 Cor. 5:9, I wrote to you in my epistle
not to have any company with fornicators. As D. Guthrie points out (p. 426), the gist of the
contents of that previous letter may be inferred from 1 Cor. 5:9 13.
The apostle had evidently issued a warning to the Corinthians to maintain a clear separation from
those persons who continued to exhibit the pagan lifestyle that was characteristic of Corinth. (As
we have seen, the city was renowned for its

Starbucks as a typical corporate business, and that the company advertises to sell its product

plantations and the middle man, who buys coffee beans from small time farmers usually
scamming them (216). This creation of image of Starbucks being a good corporate business in
helping the small time farmers earn more income is contracted by Simon s findings, and shows
that the coffee company is actually taking advantage of the small time farmers, when Starbucks
buys from the middle man or the big plantation owners, it pay less for the coffee beans than they do
if Starbucks purchases beans from small time farmers. The greed of Starbucks at the expense of the
individual farmers is unethical, yet the coffee shop company markets the contradiction.

Traditional Research Methods Of Quantitative And...
Traditional research methods consist of implementing quantitative and qualitative research.
Quantitative research utilizes statistical analysis by breaking down components of observation that
are compared to other elements (Bergman, M. M., 2008). Qualitative research focuses on
investigating the participant s range of behavior, usually with small groups, which results in
descriptive analysis (Bergman M. M., 2008).
Mixed method research involves using Qualitative research and Quantitative research designs. The
advantage of using both is to utilize the strength of each type in order to produce an outcome that is
most beneficial to the area of study (Bergman, M. M., 2008). The challenge with mixed method
research in integrating the results of both Qualitative and Quantitative results in order to present
unbiased scientific results that are worthy of discussion (Bergman, M. M., 2008).
Action research is a practical or real world approach to a profession inquiry in a social setting.
Educational professionals may use this approach to evaluate an existing teaching method or review
a new method that may be considered for use in the classroom. Action research can be implemented
using mixed methods and conducted my an individual or in collaboration with other professionals.

What Does The One Ring Symbolize

One Ring to rule them all,

One of the masters of British Literature, J.R.R. Tolkien was able to create a fantasy world with an
endless supply of parallelisms to reality. The fantasy world was found in the Lord of the Rings.
Tolkien is able to create wonderful symbolism and meaning out of what would otherwise be
considered nonsense. He creates symbolism and meaning by mastering his own world and his own

And while he wore the One Ring he could perceive all the things that where done by means of the
lesser rings, and he could see and govern the very thoughts of those that wore them. (Tolkien, The
Silmarillion 589)
The people recognize the power of the One Ring as soon as Sauron puts the One Ring on his
finger. They realize that he can control their thoughts. This makes the people decide to remove
their rings and never use them. The people and Sauron become bitter enemies while the One Ring
remains in Sauron s possession. The One Ring is lost in the river when Isildur defeats Sauron.
After passing through many hands, the One Ring is given to Frodo Baggins. This brings us to the
beginning of the Lord of the Rings.
The nature of the One Ring can be explained in three distinct ways. The One Ring is a
personification of Sauron s power. It is a symbol of evil in general. It also is an object with a mind

As the One Ring s creator, Sauron had placed a great amount of his own power into the ring for
the purpose of controlling the other rings. The ring is an extension of Sauron s power. The loss
of the ring does not destroy Sauron. Only the destruction of the One Ring can destroy Sauron. His
power simply becomes spread around, and his influence affects whoever has possession of the

Illegal Trafficking Is A Source, Transit, And Destination...
According to the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime, Bangladesh is a source, transit, and
destination for human trafficking involving women, men, and children (1). Bangladeshi men and
women are lured into work under false pretenses within their own country or into neighboring
countries (2). A large proportion of cross border trafficking in Bangladesh is due to migration in
search of employment. Most are subjected to forced labor or forced prostitution(3).
Thousands of unreported children are trafficked from Bangladesh to other countries every year
(2). Children who are taken by traffickers often come from impoverished or isolated regions. The
parents are promised that their children will have a well paid job or a nice marriage (4).
Impoverished and desperate, they trust the offers, which ultimately lead their children to be
exploited through trafficking (7).
3)If this is a destination country and/or if there is internal human trafficking, which forms of
trafficking are common in this country? (If you think that there are no forms of trafficking
happening within this country, provide citations about that and some reasons why it is not
happening. The reasons don t have to be proven, but they must be plausible.)
Within the country, trafficked people are subjected to sex trafficking, domestic servitude, or forced
and bonded labor (7).
Girls are commonly trafficked into sexual exploitation or bonded servitude. The sexual exploitation

Market Size And Growth Of Wearable Device Market
Running head: MARKET SIZE AND GROWTH OF WEARABLE DEVICE MARKET1
Market Size And Growth Of Wearable Device Market: Pertaining to Smartwatches and the Moto

MARKET SIZE AND GROWTH OF WEARABLE DEVICE MARKET2
The wearable device I have decided to report on is the Moto 360 smart watch from Motorola. This
smart watch which just recently entered the market has entertained a lot of curiosity due to the fact
that it is contains a factor that other smart watches do not have. The feature that this smart watch
boasts is that it has the traditional stylish design of a regular watch but with the same functional
abilities of the other smart watches currently on the market.
The Moto 360 is one gorgeous smartwatch. OK, it s not exactly a Movado or a Rolex. But as
smartwatches go, this is the most beautiful offering around. And, yes, I m counting the as of yet
unreleased Apple Watch. The reason the 360 looks so good is because Motorola went out of its
way to make a smartwatch that actually looks like a watch. The company s designers and
engineers didn t try to create a sci fi style wearable bracelet straight out of Star Wars. Instead, they
went to work trying to make a piece of technology that people would actually want to wear
(Howley, 2014).
The wearable device market is one that is very broad with a vast amount of opportunities for
businesses. The potential markets for these products are health,

Jesus Made In America By Stephen J. Nicholas
When I was reading the book Jesus Made in America by Stephen J. Nicholas, I came across a very
interesting chapter titled Jesus on Vinyl . This chapter discussed in detail the state of the use of
Jesus in contemporary music from the 1950s up to the current times. Back 3in the 1950s there were
contemporary artists who putting out albums of hymns, like Johnny Cash s Hymns of Johnny
Cash. Not surprisingly, the most significant time for Christian gospel music was during the hippie
era in the 1960s. During that time, gospel, youth, and music had merged together into songs that
preached about Christ and love. Many people became Christians during that time to protest the
ongoing war in Vietnam so it would make sense that they would start to make that a main topic in
the music of that time.
Hippies usually referred to themselves as the Jesus People (named by Duane Pederson who was
one of the leaders in Los Angeles) which led to this movement called the Jesus Movement. They
claimed to not be a part of the hippie culture that they were born out of nor were they a part of the
fundamental church. This caught the attention of several media outlets which drew more people do
the Jesus Peoples welcoming environment. Many baptisms happened during this time, like in 1967
when Ted and Liz Wise converted four couples into becoming followers of Jesus, usually while on
drugs. The people being baptized actually believed that they were being cleansed while still being
intoxicated. They

Film Adaptation of Hamlet
Adapted from Shakespeare s play Hamlet, the film Hamlet was produced in 1996. It was directed
by Kenneth Branagh. The main characters include Kenneth Branagh who starred as Prince
Hamlet, Kate Winslet as Ophelia, Derek Jacobi as King Claudius, Julie Christie as Queen
Gertrude, Richard Briers as Polonius, Nicholas Farrell as Horatio and Michael Maloney as
Laertes. In the middle of the film there is a scene where Prince Hamletis shown alone in a room
contemplating whether or not he should avenge his father s death, how he should go about doing
and how unfortunate it is that he finds himself in this position. At that moment, Hamlet is so torn
that he appears to be going mad. So much so that when the girl he loves, Ophelia, whom is sent by
King Claudius and Queen Gertrudeto speak to Hamlet, approached him, he declared to her that he
never loved her. He pressed her hard against the mirror forcing her to face who she has become.
He sent her away telling her and she should enter a nunnery and that it would please him to ban
marriage altogether. I believe that Hamlet s delay in seeking revenge for his father shows indeed
a strength in his character. That is because it proves that Hamlet was a moral and rational man, he
did not remain inactive and Hamlet was a man ahead of his time (Utter 140) First, Hamlet was a
highly intelligent, moral and rational man. I believe that was the reason behind his procrastination.
A moral and rational man does not take the decision to kill a person

Narrative Essay On Longboarding
Longboarding is my passion. Even though i don t do it as much anymore i still love it. It give me a
sense of freedom and adrenaline. My most memorable story with longboarding is when i fell of my
longboard. Now for anyone that doesnt know, a longboard is a stateboard with wider and larger
wheels. It also has a longer deck and more flexible.
My most epic crash happened on August 12th 2015. It was a partly cloudy day with a little bit of
downhill wind. I went longboarding with 3 of my very close friends. We started at Stanley park
and then just started talking at topographic maps to see where there was a hill we could longboard
down.
We found a nice long steep hill on hillside road. The asphalt there was fairly smooth especially
for Westfield. We didn t look at the road in to much depth and decided to just bomb it. We started
rolling off at the top of the hill and pushing off to get more speed. We went off in a line. A was
the second one. We were at about half hill and the road started to get bumpy and FAST. i saw the
person in front of me getting speed wobbles so i steered left of him to clear him if he fell. But i

How Does Arthur Conan Doyle Use The Observant Character Of...
The basis of detective fictions is a well developed and observant character that is able to walk the
audience and outside perspectives through the case. In this case, Arthur Conan Doyle utilizes the
observant perspective of Watson to describe the actions of Sherlock Holmes. Doyle characterizes
Sherlock through underscoring vocabulary and the first person understanding of Watson. A series
of analytical language and descriptive literary devices such as juxtaposition to portray the effects of
Irene Adleron the near perfect character of Sherlock Holmes. Doyle begins the passage by
emphasizing THE woman to Sherlock Holmesin order to introduce an impacting character within
the selective and closed off life of Sherlock. The emphasis on THE resembles her as an
overbearing character that has establish a lasting impact on Sherlock as even he does not
mention her under any other name. The lack of emphasis on her name, but rather her mark on
Sherlock, is utilized to present an ambivalent feeling within Sherlock in which he can t identify
her as a flaw or test of himself. Doyle proceeds by clarifying the idea of her overbearing image by
characterizing her as the dominant image for the whole of his sex in order to reemphasize her
presence in Sherlock s highly selective and egoistic memory. Furthermore, Doyle utilizes the close
relationship of Watson to clarify that it was not any emotion akin to love in order to introduce the
idea of reason rather than emotion, specifically love. In addition, this is the first time THE woman [
s] name is mentioned to slowly introduce the character and ease into the rest of the story and
flashback of their encounter. Further on, Doyle continues the juxtaposition of emotion and reason
within Sherlock s mind through a series of

Kite Runner Character Analysis
What makes someone your friend? In the bildungsroman novel Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini
tragically displays the betrayal of a so called friend. When they were young, Amir and Hassan
did everything together and they were inseparable. Amir s obsession with gaining Baba s love
not only made him lose someone that adored him, but also someone that would always stay by
his side. Later on, Amir redeems himself of his horrible past by taking in Hassan s son, so he
can have a clean future. Hosseini depicts good versus evil to question readers if Amir is forgiven
for his one good deed compared to his many bad deeds. Was Amir really Hassan s friend

To add to Hassan s admiration for Amir, Hassan would take the blame despite the fact that it is
Amir s fault. But he never told on me. Never told that the mirror, like shooting walnuts at the
neighbor s dog, was always my idea (4). It is bizarre that Amir did not confess when Hassan was
getting punished, like if someone has a friend, he/she would not want that friend getting hurt.
Then he acts like nothing happened and does not even thank Hassan for covering for him, but
instead he acts like it was Hassan s fault and that Hassan deserves the punishment. Amir is most
likely jealous that Hassan receives Baba s attention while he needs to work for it, which is why
he lets Hassan take the blame for him. The group felt that Baba shows more kindness to Hassan
as a way of overcoming his guilt for the affair, which in turn makes Amir feel unwanted: his
literary talents are not appreciated because his father would prefer a son interested in football
(Dennys). It is assumed that Amir does not like Hassan because he can gain Baba s attention
easily while Amir has tried for years to get a little bit of attention. Amir thinks that if Hassan gets
in more trouble then Baba would like Hassan less and start liking him more and pay more
attention to him. Amir treats Hassan kindly when they are alone, but in public he degrades Hassan
and acts like Hassan is nothing to him. But he s not my friend! I almost blurted. He s my servant

Are Video Games Art No But Playing Them Can Be Summary
In response to the article titled, Are Video Games Art? No But Playing Them Can Be, by author
Phil Hartup, he makes the argument that video games are not art, but rather the audience that
engages themselves in playing them makes it art. The author uses examples such as Mona Lisa
and Michael Bay just to support his claim, and while his claims are interesting, some of the stuff
he says can be ridiculous, in my opinion. I, myself, disagree with most of his claims. Video games
have a big influence on communities just like art, and not only that, but without graphic ARTISTS,
we wouldn t be able to have these video games that we have today. Video games, in my opinion
have so much creativity in them that they should be considered as art.
Hartup introduces his claim by giving examples of art such as the Mona Lisa and a few examples of
things with what Michael Bay does in movies. There is no direct dialogue with art, says Hartup,
in which this case, I must disagree. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, meaning
that all those details in paintings you see must give you some dialogue if you think about it.
Many people around the world are influenced and engaged with the dialogue of art, trying to find
a deep meaning to them, just like they are engaged in most video games in the same way. There is
a lot of controversy with people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

this topic? The way I see it, and how I will continue to see it, is that video games is just like art due
to the emotions it brings to players, and by me saying that it s like art, I think it s safe to say that

Was this old woman, Circe, real or part of one of Milkman s dreams/nightmares? Could Macon s

He was flying. He flew. You know, like a bird. Just stood up in the fields one day, ran up some hill,

The Persuasive Tone of The Flea Essay
The Persuasive Tone of The Flea
John Donne, a member of metaphysical school in the Seventeenth century, exhibited his brilliant
talent in poetry. In The Flea, he showed the passion to his mistress via persuasive attitude. The tone
might straightforwardly create playfulness or sinfulness; yet, the poem contains none of either.
What impress readers most is situation and device. The situation between the speaker and the
audience is persuasion, love or marriage. As to device, the notable parts are diction and rhetoric
skills. Furthermore, unique characteristics of this poem are also an important element of his
persuasive tone.
First of all, the situation created by Donne is remarkable. Although there is only one ... Show more

More than the effect, it also has an implication. The flea having sucked his blood and then hers,
he takes a far bolder step and suggest that because their blood in now mixed in the flea s body,
they are in some meaningful physical way joined already. i[i]
Finally, The Flea contains two major unique characteristics. One of Donne s most successful effects
is sudden contrast.ii[ii] The insect seems to be no connection with romance, but by sucking blood
of two characters of the poem, the flea builds a bridge between the two persons that surprises many
readers.
ВЎВҐThe Flea seems particularly unerotic in character, extraordinarily preoccupied with ethical
and social, particularly marital, mattersВЎK. but also transforms the sexual seduction lyric into a
more serious persuasion to full affectionate and physical loving. iii[iii]
The other is Donne s skill, dramatic monologue. In both line one of the first and the second
stanzas, the poet began with strong voice. Later in the following lines of the two stanzas, Donne
himself explained his reasons logically. The only difference is his attitude. The tone of stanza two
is stronger than stanza one, and stanza three is even stronger than stanza two; therefore, in killing it
the poet s mistress would commit, not only murder on him, a crime she is injured to, but suicide
and sacrilege. iv[iv]
To the end, The Flea describes a

Outsourcing Of The United States
According to Investopedia, outsourcing is a practice used by different companies to reduce costs
by transferring portions of work to outside suppliers rather than completing it internally
(Investopedia, n.d). Companies use outsourcing to reduce costs and improve productivity. In the
1970 s and 1980 s was when companies first began looking for alternatives to increase their profits
and increase the production of their products (Narayanan, 2015). Products were becoming to
expensive to make in the United Statesand other lesser developed countries were less expensive,
and that is why the United States turned to China for production. There are lots of other reasons for
outsourcingsuch as gaining access to new markets, gaining global knowledge, focusing on their
core business practices, and being closer to their resources. Gaining access to new markets
happens because the company is moving production abroad, and they are in a whole new area.
When they begin production in this area, the people of that country are opened up to that new idea.
Also gaining global knowledge is very similar to gaining access to new markets. With the company
being in a new country they learn a lot about that country. They need to learn practices, customs,
language, etc. If that company doesn t learn customs, beliefs, or practices then they can offend the
citizens of that country, and then their company will not be as successful. If a company decides to
outsource, they also can focus on their core

One step (and I mean just one step) in elevating how members see the professionalism of their

Social Theories Of Mass Shootings
Mass shootings happen a lot more frequently in the world than most of us probably know.
However, every mass shooting that has been documented and investigated have the same main
question behind it; Why did the attacker choose to do this? Many times, our assumptions are all
we have. Investigation analyses the entire situation as much as it can to make sure our
assumptions, if needed, are as accurate as possible. However, there are a lot of theories and social
situations that pertain to mass shootings as well. On July 20th, 2012, one of the deadliest mass
shootinghad occurred in Aurora, Colorado. A man by the name of James Holmes had been the
attacker behind this mass shooting. Just a couple weeks prior to the shooting, Holmes bought a
ticket online for a midnight showing of The Dark Night Rises at the local movie theater in
Aurora. The night he attended the showing, left shortly after through one of the rear doors. He
proceeded to leave the door open and headed towards the parking lot. Soon later, he returned.
Not even 20 minutes after the movie had begun, Holmes began shooting vigorously at the
audience. Holmes is dressed head to toe in protective gear a ballistic helmet, protective gear for
his legs, throat and groin, black gloves and a gas mask. (Library, 2017) First, Holmes threw two
tear gas canisters into the theater, and after they exploded, that s when we began to start shooting.

effectively shows us the overall poor treatment the forgotten immigrant workers who built Toronto s

experienced in the early twenties by the European immigrants by giving them fictional names and
personalities these people were used for hard labour under precarious working conditions and many
died throughout the construction. For example, The men work in the equivalent of the fallout of a

Both Of The Articles I Choose Link Very Closely With One
Both of the articles I choose link very closely with one of the themes we covered in class.
Sustainable planning and green cities. This is a topic I found especially interesting, being from
the Portland area it s something I have been exposed too, but also sustainable development is a
career path I have become interested in. The first article is about the Pearl District in Portland.
Although we watched a quick clip about it I wanted to learn more about how and why the planning
and implementation is so contemporary. According to chapter 11 of Yin, Portland s Pearl District
has taken many of the right steps toward planning for a sustainable city. It has followed the 3 pillars
of sustainabilitywhich are Environment, Economy and Equity.... Show more content on

These open spaces have natural wildlife habits and show respect to the ecologic responsibility.
Lastly is housing, this I tended to disagree with for the most part. Although the Pearl did develop
mostly mixed use, and multifamily housing the price range is pretty ridiculous. In the PBS
video we watching in class, Rick Gustafson says that 22% of the housing is for low income
tenants, if this is true those apartments must be almost impossible to find. I know personally that
the Pearl District is one of the most expensive places to live in Portland. I don t necessarily think
this is wrong or immoral or that there is social injustice, but the idea that the Pearl District is
affordable for many young people is far fetched. This would be one of the very few ways that the
Pearl District does not match Yin s guidelines for a sustainable city.
The second article is about a town in Sweden that decided to go all out for a eco friendly
sustainable town. Much like the Pearl District, Hammarby Sjöstad was built in an old unused
industrial area of Stockholm. This city, which is home to about 20,000 residents used many of the

American Symbolism In Hills Like White Elephants
Title In Hills Like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway, an American man exhibits control
over his lover, Jig, as they talk at a train station. Stereotypical with the role of women, Jig lacks
authority and control, not only in her relationship with the American, but in her day to day life,
as shown in her inability to act independently. The American s conversational coercion instills Jig
with a false sense of autonomy in the relationship, ultimately pigeonholing her into submission.
Almost immediately, Jig is established not as an equal, but rather as the American s
subordinate. While her partner is referred to as the American, and the waitress is referred to as
the woman, Jig is only known as the girl throughout most of the story. This description
demonstrates the man s control over Jig, distinguishing him as superior to his lover (Rankin). Jig
s inferiority is further shown through her lack of independent identity, as she is instead
characterized as an extension of her lover. This is displayed in her inability to even choose a
drink for herself, relying on the American to decide for her What should we drink? the girl asked
(1,Hemingway), and even speak for her. This action strips Jig of independence and control, in fact,
her dependence on the American causes her to constantly seek for his approval: she changes the

Shakespeare Is Shakespeare
To be or not to be Why is Shakespeare still relevant? Shakespeare is still relevant because his
poems and plays continue to live on even though he is dead. His plays and poems are all so well
executed and they all have a theme . For example in the play Antony and Cleopatra there are a
number of themes such as loyalty, honour, romance and betrayal. Also the play contains many
poetic narrations such as my desolation begins to make a better life
One of the many themes of the play Antony and Cleopatra is loyalty Antony loved Cleopatra so
much and was so loyal to her that he gave up being part of the triumvirate to stay with her. He
even betrayed Caesar by abandoning his sister and his wife. He even went to war with Caesar
because of Cleopatra while she on the other hand was never loyal to Antony even though she
claims to kill herself over him. Her constant willingness throughout the play to manipulate him is
an indication of the fact that she d betray him as soon as it was convenient for her, either
politically or emotionally she wasn t as loyal to him as much as he was loyal to her. Also another
example of loyalty from the play is Enobarbus after Enobarbus deserts Antony he then ultimately
regrets the decision so much that he dies of his sorrow he was very loyal to Antony but something
went wrong that made him betray Antony but because of how loyal he was before to Antony he
then died of his sorrow regretting not being loyal to Antony till the end. Another

Appraisal Of Thatcherism Essay
Economics are the method; the object is to change the heart and soul (Thathcer, 1981). Margaret
Thatcher is undoubtedly one of the most renowned individuals in British history. Initially the first
woman to be elected as party leader, who entered 10 Downing Street as the Prime Minister.
Secondly her revolutionary policies and solid capitalist ideology shook Britain. During her
sovereignty which lasted eleven and a half years (May 1979 November 1990), she turned Britain

Tis the set of the sails And not the gales Which tells us the way to go (Thatcher, 1995, 05:20).
The influence of these words on Maggie proved to determine the future of the whole country.
The following years Margaret worked herself through Oxford University, where she has started
to establish her name in the political arena. In 1951 Maggie got married to the wealthy
businessman Denis Thatcher. Maggie s first role in the cabinet was Minister of Education and
Science, in Heath s government 1970 74. When Heath lost Tory s control to Labour in 1974,
Margaret being relieved from office, used the liberty to combine her intellect with Keith Joseph
and cultivate a thesis regarding the policies should be followed in order to restore the power of
the government. In 1975 to her own surprise Margaret won the leadership of the Tory party. The
victory was elucidated as the will for a change rather then acceptance and agreement of her political
creed and until the election of 1979, Margaret used the time to establish hegemony within the Tory
party (Collings Seldon, 2000,p2 3,7). The winter of 1979 bears the title The Winter of Discontent ,

The Schism Between Chinese and American Medical Practices...
Increased global interdependence has brought about the convergence of cultures, traditions, and the
way individuals go about their daily lives. As daily life around the world seems to become more
uniform in all cultures, it becomes important to examine the aspects that most converge and pay
special attention to why they have or have not evolved to resemble each other. In regards to one of
the highest orders of educationand one of the most vastly important studies worldwide, medical
training has become more globally uniform. Our goal is to have our top doctors and researchers

The late 1900s brought about a great deal of change for China in terms of basic education. In
1978, a policy of globalization took effect, and the Peoples Republic of China began to interact
with the world much more than in its previous years. Subsequently, in 1985, the Decision on the
Reform of educational structure was mandated by the Communist Party. This placed the
responsibility of education on local governments. A year later, the Compulsory Education Law of
the People s Republic of China was passed, making basic education a legal requirement of citizens.
Throughout the 1990s, more laws were passed that further refined education, detailing the
requirements for quality socialistic educations, and promoting science and technology as vital
elements. The result of this reform was a tremendous increase in kindergartens, primary, junior and
senior secondary schools. Enrollment rates at primary and junior secondary schools were 98.58%
and 90% respectively. Employed full time teachers were nearly 5.8 million in 2002 (4). These
details show that a thoroughly educated Chinese culture is still young, and without a doubt these
developments affect the practice of the medical professional.
The variations between Chinese and American higher education have developed due to the
differences in tradition and culture. The U.S. culture is a quickly morphing, dynamic culture that

Should Avalon Join The European Union
According to neoliberal institutionalists, Avalon should join the European Union because overall,

benefit and one way they can benefit, is through the economy. First of all, there is a common
currency, the euro. This makes moving from country to country easier, as well as giving nations in
the European Union a feeling of unity. Europeans can move freely within Europe and do not have
to worry about exchanging currency. Having the euro is also beneficial because it eliminates trade

I Know The Lord Has Made This Possible For Me
Thank you for this great opportunity to volunteer at Teen Challenge. I know the Lord has made
this possible for me. Speaking of libraries, I have identified some factors that in my opinion can
greatly enhance the use of the library by students and staff members. If I understand you correctly,
your desire is for the libraryto be frequently visited by the students and staff of Teen Challenge.
The challenge, in this case, is to establish a library that serves the needs of students and staff
member of Teen Challenge. Teen Challenge is a very strong organization by God s grace with very
high Christian, ethical and moral standards. Additionally, it has a space available that can be turned
into a more than adequate reading and studying space.
However, there are some factors that are by nature opposing the achievement of the goal of
sustainability and frequent use of students and staff. Because of this, it is highly recommended that
steps be considered in order to assure success for the present and the future of this very important
project.
Firstly, the designation of a librarian is vital for continuing the duties of managing collections
(books, periodical, articles, newspapers, magazines, DVD, CD, etc.), program development;
obtaining, analyzing and reporting the feedback from patrons. A successful library is one who is
able to determine the needs of its patrons and satisfy those needs and wants by structuring
operations accordingly.
Secondly, a library is no longer a

Does Kraft Foods Portfolio Exhibit Good Strategic Fit
The Nine Cell industry attractiveness/business strength matrix will have the industry attractiveness
on the vertical axis and the competitive strength will be on the horizontal axis ; to the far left corner
will be a large bubble representing U.S. grocery and The U.S. snacks indicating that the U.S.
Grocery and the U.S. snacks have both favorable industry attractiveness and competitive strength
and thus warrants priority attention . In addition the U.S beverage, U.S. cheese and the U.S.

indicating they merit intermediate attention by the Kraft incorporation, however these segments of
the company can be profitable if the company can investigate the possibility of improving

Does Kraft Foods portfolio exhibit good strategic fit? What value chain match ups do you see? In
my opinion, Kraft Food s Inc. has good strategic fit. The profitability trend was upward between

Performance evaluations are a very important part of a business organization and places promotion
and retain ability in the hands of the worker. According to Robbins and Judge, Evaluations provide
input into important decisions such as promotions, transfers, and terminations. Evaluations also
identify training and development issues. (pg.595 2009). There are several different theories and
ways to conduct performance evaluations such as behaviorally anchored rating scales (BARS),
critical incidents, graphic rating scales, Forced comparison, group order rankings and individual

This is a measuring that is not an exact measuring tool and is relative. It is based on comparing
group to group or individual to individual. Individual ranking according to Robbins and Judge, an
evaluation method that ranks orders employees from best to worst. (pg.599 2009). This is
evident in the EPR system as there are quotas on the ranking system and how many people can
achieve each rating and in turn is a forced comparison and also group comparison as each rank is
split into a group. This system has gone through many changes and continues to change based
on necessity. No one evaluation system is better than the other and that is why I believe they
use the current system as it employs multiple systems for the annual evaluations. From scripture
2 Corinthians 8:10 11, And here is my judgment about what is best for you in this matter. Last

Hot Tin Roof Play
The day my group and I received our assignment, we agreed to portray a play that seems easy to
perform. The play in which my group and I had a strong connection with is Cat On A Hot Tin
Roof. We performed the end of Act 1, Scene 1 for various reasons. The act contained various
emotions, intriguing dialogue, various literary devices and a deep perception of social
relationships. The interactions of Brick and Maggie and Maggie and Brick s nieces and nephews.
The thought process for picking this scene was a challenge. We realized this scene was not
evenly distributed with character s monologue. We began blurting out ideas that would help us
decide on keeping this scene or changing to a new one. My first idea was to switch roles in the
middle of the scene in order for everyone to have an equal part. My group members agreed with
this idea, until another member s thought came up. One of my group members, thought of a

My rings were to symbolize the bond I share with Brick and the jewelry I was putting on, as
Maggie s actions were stated. The children would use bottle caps or crumpled papers, used to
throw at Maggie when they are mocking her. My group and I could not find a crutch for the
member playing Brick, to use. I decided to take off the end of a broomstick and use the stick as
a crutch. I came up with the idea of using the classroom as a prop too. The teacher s desk would
be my makeup dresser. As I am speaking to Brick, I would use the computer screen, as if, I am
putting on makeup.
As stated earlier, I chose the end of act 1, scene 1 in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, because it introduced
a deeper concept of emotions and interactions in the play. The beginning of the play was not
intriguing to my group members and I. I did not understand why the husband and the wife were
filled with anger and hostility until the end of the act. The author had me in strings because I did
not know how the character, Maggie should be

Approaches to Leadership
There are many different ways in which individuals lead. Whether implicit or by choice, the
style and the way it is applied can lead to success or failure in the workplace. My boss and I
approach leadership in completely different ways. While my boss leans toward only a
transactional style, specifically Laissez faire, or management by exception, I prefer a combination
of transactional and translational styles. According to Robbins and Judge (2012), Laissez faire is
the most passive and therefore least effective of leader behaviors (Robbins Judge, 2012, p. 382).
Additionally, management by exception is somewhat better, however it remains one of the weakest
leadership styles. Leaders using this style fail to be engaged with the employees unless and until

The Character Analysis Of Iago Of Othello
At first glance, Iago of Othello can appear to have little motivation for his destructive tendencies;
however, when viewed through the lens of antisocial personality disorder, his incentive takes on a
twisted internal logic. His all consuming desire for revenge is not necessarily because of any
outside influence by Othellohimself, but rather the fact that Othello disrupts Iagos conception of
himself and is a pawn whom he can manipulate for pleasure. His arrogance and entitlement are
also classic symptoms of antisocial personality disorder, as is his superficial charm, which allows
him to enlist the assistance of Roderigo in his plot to destroy Othello s marriage.

For example, act 1 scene 1 depicts him and Roderigo discussing Othello s impending marriage.
During this scene, Roderigo mentions that Iago hast had [his] purse/ As if the strings were thine
(1.1.2 3). A common symptom of antisocial personality disorder is the inability to handle money
responsibly, whether because of an unreliable source of income or reckless spending (Personality
and Personality Disorders, 88). In either case, from the first scene of the play it is clear that he is
leeching off of Roderigo for personal gain. His disorder appears to manifest itself differently
depending on the person with whom he is interacting, as shown when he speaks to Emelia and his
charming, relatively eloquent exterior melts away into an aggressive, rude figure. This behavioral
pattern indicates that Iago is a fundamentally antisocial person, not reacting to a specific negative
situation.
Iago reveals a good deal about the inner workings of his mind when he states that But for [his]
sport and profit. [He] hate[s] the Moor (1.3.386). He relates this to the alleged adultery between
his wife and Othello, but when viewed through the lens of antisocial personality disorder, it
becomes literally true. According to the DSM, such individuals are frequently motivated by
pleasure seeking. The reasons which Iago gives for his hatred of Othello do not stand up to scrutiny
when his hostile

  • 2. Essay Thomas Jefferson and Monticello A person s house can show you a lot about that person. In my own room you would probably find that I have a big appreciation for books, but don t you wonder what the inventor and third president s house showed you what he was like? Thomas Jefferson was a very important man; however, there are many more sides to him than you think. Initially, the Northeast Portico displays Thomas Jeffersons deep appreciation for Architecture. Jefferson himself got the idea for this wall from James Gibb s Book of Architecture. He used the book and designed a wall based on one of his designs. The original blueprint was supposed to be used for an octagonal structure, and Jefferson used it for just one wall. This shows that Jefferson cares for architecture... Most painted robes were used as traditional clothing and articles of trade for Native Americans. Some of these robes are painted with a scene usually a scene that the person receiving the robe fought in. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark sent a package to Thomas Jefferson filled with seven buffalo robes one that had a painted scene. Putting a piece from a famous expedition shows that he is aware that he must preserve a piece of history so that s other can look back at this piece of history. Thomas Jefferson understands the History and Arts very much, so his Entry Hall reflects this part of him. Jefferson s love of people and games are evident in the parlor room. The Parlor Room was filled with many paintings of important figures and friends of Jefferson s. Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson Randolph are just some of the many paintings included in the parlor. He had used this room as a place to invite friends and colleagues to come over and play games and have fun. Jefferson included many chairs, in this room to have lots of people over and allow them to sit down whenever they would like too. The parlor room was often a place for family weddings, dances, and christenings. A wedding is a cheerful ceremony between two families joining together. OBJECTIVE: To familiarize oneself of the processes associated with the deep drawing of thin sheet metals to analyse the factors that influence its behavior. Through this experiment, the differences of the material properties associated with different rolling directions will be considered and applied to the deformation of the cup when formed through deep drawing. THEORY: Please refer to P5: Plastic Properties of Sheet Metallab manual for detailed Theory. [1] PROCEDURE: Sheet metal disks, one with a 3.5 inch diameter, two with 4.0 inches and another with 4.5 inches were first measured for thickness at different distances away from the centre. One of the of 4.0 disks had lines scribed through the centre at 22.5В° intervals and concentric circles drawn at a distance of 0.25 inches apart. Lubricant oil was then applied to both sides of the specimens prior to the drawing process and placed in the Hille press using the 3 centering arms to centre the sample in the correct position. The four specimens were then drawn using the 10 ton Hille Press with a clamping pressure of 5 tons/in2 at different predetermined draw lengths. The 4.0 non marked specimen was only half drawn, with the remaining samples fully drawn. Finally, the thicknesses of the cups were measured at the same locations as prior to forming and recorded. Assess the extent to which the Wilson Government achieved its objectives by 1970 To assess the Wilson Government which ran from the years 1964 to 1970 you have to look at what the Labour government promised to achieve if they won the election in 1964. You have to look at what the changes the Wilson government brought forward in their time in office and how the personalities of its politician s effects decisions made. The election campaign in 1964 was a close run contest even though there was a low public approval of the current Prime Minister Alec Douglas Home. The labour party only won a majority of 3 seats. It was created because the treasury was seen with being strongly conservative and the high ranks of the Labour Party considered this as key to Britain s economic failure. The Idea seemed a successful resolution as France was working on a more planned economy also and had much higher GDP growth rate. However the reality showed that the government failed in its objectives. Ironically the problem of this Super Department was that it wasn t planned prior to its introduction. As George Brown stated I think it is a pity that we didn t produce a Blueprint setting out precisely what we wanted to achieve . The treasury also went out of its own way to make the work of the new department fail, reports suggested that Brown s phone was bugged to allow the Treasury to keep track of the dealings he made and the dealings of the office. Even though these difficulties Brown still produced the National Plan which aimed at the economic targets set out in the General Election of 1964. It was an achievement to create this plan which aimed at stimulating industrial production and exports by encouraging cooperation between the government, employers and trade unions. It was a success that the plan was drafted however it was a failed attempt. The grand expansion targets set out in the plan were not met because at the time it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The article Psychosocial Identity Development Theories, highlights the keys points and idea of Erikson s psychosocial theory. Erikson was very focused on the idea of ego identity and obtaining full potential. His theory or model stats that, identity formation is based on overcoming conflicts that individuals encounter during adolescent and early childhood. (Karkouti, 2014, p.257) He believed that all people must endure certain conflicts in their lives, and then overcome them in order to obtain their ego identity. The idea of psychosocial development is focused on social conflicts, and environmental factors. In the psychosocial model that Erikson created, it places people into eight stages. In order for someone to move on to the next stage, they must first overcome the conflict presented to them in the stage that they are in. A well established identity will get stronger the more that conflict is successfully resolved. The eight stages are basic trust versus mistrust, autonomy versus shame and doubt, initiative verses guilt, industry versus inferiority, identity versus identity diffusion, intimacy versus isolation, generativity versus stagnation, and ego integrity versus despair. In this article, it not only focuses on the main idea for psychosocial development, but it continues by then saying that the theory has two criticisms, stages are descriptive and they are difficult to be empirically ... Crime can be related to intra class struggles because it still makes an impact in America. In today s society crime is a norm for many cities in America. According to Forbes, St. Louis is the most dangerous city in America in 2017. Why are there increasing rates of crime over the last decade? What are the reasons for crime? The reasons of crime can stem from poverty, unemployment, politics, drug abuse, and recurring individuals in and out of prison. In past history, former Mayor Richard J. Daley was involved in a corruption scandal. There is a history of corruption by officials in Chicago because they would use the political machine to gain political support to win in office. This machine is produced by a boss or group that demands the support of other officials through scandalous control. Daley allowed the poor to suffer and the richer get wealthier. The purpose is to gain control over a particular area. In today s society, the machine is still seen today in Chicago s Police Department. Durkheim argues that crime makes society functions as a whole. He states that crime is normal because it generates the collective sentiment. The interview was on the topic of ethical fairness in education. Dr. Wallace discussed the issue of disciplinary infractions for high school students. He pointed out that bullying and acts of violence are becoming a major problem for administrators. According to Dr. Wallace, administrators must learn how to strike a balance in respecting the rights of children and eradicating acts of bullying and violence. According to Dr. Wallace, two students at Jefferson County High Schoolwere scheduled a due process hearing for bullying. He revealed that the two students had made threats on social media and brought weapons to school. However, the two students alleged that they were the ones being bullied and only brought the weapons to protect themselves from a gang of girls and their parents. The two young ladies are academic scholars and have no prior disciplinary history. Dr. Wallace maintained that there is a need to adopt common sense policies that adequately address bullying and consequences for it. He contended that all stakeholders must be held accountable in order to eliminate this issue. Dr. Wallace suggested that school district personnel receive professional development on properly handling acts of violence and bullying. He also noted that school leaders must provide their staff with the tools and resources to identify and address bullying. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Psycho Dynamic Concepts And Therapies Throughout the years and despite the endless scientific research, many have come to believe that psycho dynamic concepts and therapies are not as effective as other therapies. However, Shedler (2010) believes that the misconception of the ineffectiveness of psycho dynamic concepts and therapies are mainly because of the distaste that exists in the mental health professions due to the hierarchical medical establishment that used to deny training to non MDs and adopted a dismissive stance towards research (Shedler, pg. 98, 2010). As a result, research was disregarded and the spot light was placed on the emerging new therapies that were widely welcomed by the academicians whilst the psycho dynamic therapies received very limited attention.... Psychodynamic therapy assists the client in uncovering the layers of one s self and allowing the client to reach deeper within them for healing. • 12. What Is Free Will In The Odyssey Bayley Neville Dr. Roberts English 235 October 5, 2015 Free Will or Fate? How does Odysseus decline Circe s offer to become immortal? How does Don Quixote become a knight? Was it free will or fate? Some may say that the Odyssey is completely fate based and Don Quixote is entirely based on free will, but the two hold more similarities than you may realize. Homer, the writer of The Odyssey, focuses mainly on the god s influence of Odysseus s travels home. Miguel De Cervantes, writer of Don Quixote, uses Quixote s imagination and decisions to motivate travel. Although they bear some minor similarities, the differences between The Odyssey and Don Quixote are pronounced. Before discussing the similarities I would like to go over the differences between the two. In the Odyssey, the gods are responsible for controlling almost the entire story. They are the reason he gets captured and held for eight years. They are the cause of the storm that nearly drags Odysseus out to sea. They play a very important role in this poem. Don Quixote is written much differently than The Odyssey. Don Quixote has much more freedom to choose what happens in his life. He decides to become a knight and travel all over. He set off on a journey to help other and to earn his knighthood. He does this at his own free will, something that Odysseus did not have. Odysseus did not decide to get held for eight years and then suddenly be released to journey home. This proves that The Odyssey and Don Quixote are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A corollary is the sanctity of the church as members of Christ, both corporately and individually, (note, especially, such passages as 1 Cor. 3:16 17 and 6:15 20.) This makes the people decide to remove their rings and never use them. The people and Sauron become bitter enemies while the One Ring remains in Sauron s possession. The One Ring is lost in the river when Isildur defeats Sauron. After passing through many hands, the One Ring is given to Frodo Baggins. This brings us to the beginning of the Lord of the Rings. The nature of the One Ring can be explained in three distinct ways. The One Ring is a personification of Sauron s power. It is a symbol of evil in general. It also is an object with a mind of its own. As the One Ring s creator, Sauron had placed a great amount of his own power into the ring for the purpose of controlling the other rings. This chapter discussed in detail the state of the use of Jesus in contemporary music from the 1950s up to the current times. Back 3in the 1950s there were contemporary artists who putting out albums of hymns, like Johnny Cash s Hymns of Johnny Cash. Not surprisingly, the most significant time for Christian gospel music was during the hippie era in the 1960s. During that time, gospel, youth, and music had merged together into songs that preached about Christ and love. Many people became Christians during that time to protest the ongoing war in Vietnam so it would make sense that they would start to make that a main topic in the music of that time. Hippies usually referred to themselves as the Jesus People (named by Duane Pederson who was one of the leaders in Los Angeles) which led to this movement called the Jesus Movement. They claimed to not be a part of the hippie culture that they were born out of nor were they a part of the fundamental church. This caught the attention of several media outlets which drew more people do the Jesus Peoples welcoming environment. Doyle characterizes Sherlock through underscoring vocabulary and the first person understanding of Watson. Doyle begins the passage by emphasizing THE woman to Sherlock Holmesin order to introduce an impacting character within the selective and closed off life of Sherlock. The lack of emphasis on her name, but rather her mark on Sherlock, is utilized to present an ambivalent feeling within Sherlock in which he can t identify her as a flaw or test of himself. No But Playing Them Can Be, by author Phil Hartup, he makes the argument that video games are not art, but rather the audience that engages themselves in playing them makes it art. The author uses examples such as Mona Lisa and Michael Bay just to support his claim, and while his claims are interesting, some of the stuff he says can be ridiculous, in my opinion. American Dream or African American American Nightmare The Declaration of Independence was written so Americans could achieve this dream, but the African slave was never intended to be a part of this American Dream. To the African American, there were and still are many restrictions that go along with the American Dream. In Toni Morrison s novel, Song of Solomon, Macon Dead craved for the American Dream. In a dream you climb stairs (239). Was this old woman, Circe, real or part of one of Milkman s dreams/nightmares? Could Macon s grandfather really fly?: He was flying. He flew. You know, like a bird. Just stood up in the fields one day, ran up some hill, spun around a couple of times, and was lifted up in the air. Went right on back to wherever it was he came from (323). Was Ruth, Milkman s mother, almost swallowed up by her garden plants as Milkman watched from the kitchen window?: They were smothering her, taking away her breath with their soft jagged lips. • 32. The Persuasive Tone of The Flea Essay The Persuasive Tone of The Flea John Donne, a member of metaphysical school in the Seventeenth century, exhibited his brilliant talent in poetry. In The Flea, he showed the passion to his mistress via persuasive attitude. The tone might straightforwardly create playfulness or sinfulness; yet, the poem contains none of either. What impress readers most is situation and device. The situation between the speaker and the audience is persuasion, love or marriage. As to device, the notable parts are diction and rhetoric skills. Furthermore, unique characteristics of this poem are also an important element of his persuasive tone. First of all, the situation created by Donne is remarkable. Although there is only one ... The flea having sucked his blood and then hers, he takes a far bolder step and suggest that because their blood in now mixed in the flea s body, they are in some meaningful physical way joined already. i[i] Finally, The Flea contains two major unique characteristics. One of Donne s most successful effects is sudden contrast.ii[ii] The insect seems to be no connection with romance, but by sucking blood of two characters of the poem, the flea builds a bridge between the two persons that surprises many readers. ВЎВҐThe Flea seems particularly unerotic in character, extraordinarily preoccupied with ethical and social, particularly marital, mattersВЎK. but also transforms the sexual seduction lyric into a more serious persuasion to full affectionate and physical loving. iii[iii] The other is Donne s skill, dramatic monologue. In both line one of the first and the second stanzas, the poet began with strong voice. Later in the following lines of the two stanzas, Donne himself explained his reasons logically. The only difference is his attitude. The tone of stanza two is stronger than stanza one, and stanza three is even stronger than stanza two; therefore, in killing it the poet s mistress would commit, not only murder on him, a crime she is injured to, but suicide and sacrilege. iv[iv] To the end, The Flea describes a ... Outsourcing Of The United States According to Investopedia, outsourcing is a practice used by different companies to reduce costs by transferring portions of work to outside suppliers rather than completing it internally (Investopedia, n.d). Companies use outsourcing to reduce costs and improve productivity. In the 1970 s and 1980 s was when companies first began looking for alternatives to increase their profits and increase the production of their products (Narayanan, 2015). Products were becoming to expensive to make in the United Statesand other lesser developed countries were less expensive, and that is why the United States turned to China for production. There are lots of other reasons for outsourcingsuch as gaining access to new markets, gaining global knowledge, focusing on their core business practices, and being closer to their resources. Gaining access to new markets happens because the company is moving production abroad, and they are in a whole new area. When they begin production in this area, the people of that country are opened up to that new idea. Also gaining global knowledge is very similar to gaining access to new markets. With the company being in a new country they learn a lot about that country. They need to learn practices, customs, language, etc. If that company doesn t learn customs, beliefs, or practices then they can offend the citizens of that country, and then their company will not be as successful. This is a topic I found especially interesting, being from the Portland area it s something I have been exposed too, but also sustainable development is a career path I have become interested in. The first article is about the Pearl District in Portland. Although we watched a quick clip about it I wanted to learn more about how and why the planning and implementation is so contemporary. It has followed the 3 pillars of sustainabilitywhich are Environment, Economy and Equity.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These open spaces have natural wildlife habits and show respect to the ecologic responsibility. Lastly is housing, this I tended to disagree with for the most part. Although the Pearl did develop mostly mixed use, and multifamily housing the price range is pretty ridiculous. In the PBS video we watching in class, Rick Gustafson says that 22% of the housing is for low income tenants, if this is true those apartments must be almost impossible to find. I know personally that the Pearl District is one of the most expensive places to live in Portland. I don t necessarily think this is wrong or immoral or that there is social injustice, but the idea that the Pearl District is affordable for many young people is far fetched. This would be one of the very few ways that the Pearl District does not match Yin s guidelines for a sustainable city. The second article is about a town in Sweden that decided to go all out for a eco friendly sustainable town. Much like the Pearl District, Hammarby SjГ¶stad was built in an old unused industrial area of Stockholm. This city, which is home to about 20,000 residents used many of the same techniques that Yin pointed out, just as the Pearl did. • 42. American Symbolism In Hills Like White Elephants Title In Hills Like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway, an American man exhibits control over his lover, Jig, as they talk at a train station. Stereotypical with the role of women, Jig lacks authority and control, not only in her relationship with the American, but in her day to day life, as shown in her inability to act independently. The American s conversational coercion instills Jig with a false sense of autonomy in the relationship, ultimately pigeonholing her into submission. Almost immediately, Jig is established not as an equal, but rather as the American s subordinate. While her partner is referred to as the American, and the waitress is referred to as the woman, Jig is only known as the girl throughout most of the story. This description demonstrates the man s control over Jig, distinguishing him as superior to his lover (Rankin). Jig s inferiority is further shown through her lack of independent identity, as she is instead characterized as an extension of her lover. This is displayed in her inability to even choose a drink for herself, relying on the American to decide for her What should we drink? the girl asked (1,Hemingway), and even speak for her. His plays and poems are all so well executed and they all have a theme . For example in the play Antony and Cleopatra there are a number of themes such as loyalty, honour, romance and betrayal. Also the play contains many poetic narrations such as my desolation begins to make a better life One of the many themes of the play Antony and Cleopatra is loyalty Antony loved Cleopatra so much and was so loyal to her that he gave up being part of the triumvirate to stay with her. He even betrayed Caesar by abandoning his sister and his wife. He even went to war with Caesar because of Cleopatra while she on the other hand was never loyal to Antony even though she claims to kill herself over him. Her constant willingness throughout the play to manipulate him is an indication of the fact that she d betray him as soon as it was convenient for her, either politically or emotionally she wasn t as loyal to him as much as he was loyal to her. Also another example of loyalty from the play is Enobarbus after Enobarbus deserts Antony he then ultimately regrets the decision so much that he dies of his sorrow he was very loyal to Antony but something went wrong that made him betray Antony but because of how loyal he was before to Antony he then died of his sorrow regretting not being loyal to Antony till the end. The beginning of the play was not intriguing to my group members and I. I did not understand why the husband and the wife were filled with anger and hostility until the end of the act. The author had me in strings because I did not know how the character, Maggie should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Fiedler contingency model postulates a leader s style is static; however, God can transform anyone s heart and thus their leadership style. Additionally, the grapevine can be an important tool for employers. As long as each individual chooses to use gossip for honorable purposes, God will bless the workplace. ORIGINAL POST 3 Forum Post 3 Original Post Approaches to Leadership There are many different ways in which individuals lead. Whether implicit or by choice, the style and the way it is applied can lead to success or failure in the workplace. My boss and I approach leadership in completely different ways. While my boss leans toward only a transactional style, specifically Laissez faire, or management by exception, I prefer a combination of transactional and translational styles. According to Robbins and Judge (2012), Laissez faire is the most passive and therefore least effective of leader behaviors (Robbins Judge, 2012, p. 382). Additionally, management by exception is somewhat better, however it remains one of the weakest leadership styles. Leaders using this style fail to be engaged with the employees unless and until there is an issue requiring their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. The Character Analysis Of Iago Of Othello At first glance, Iago of Othello can appear to have little motivation for his destructive tendencies; however, when viewed through the lens of antisocial personality disorder, his incentive takes on a twisted internal logic. His all consuming desire for revenge is not necessarily because of any outside influence by Othellohimself, but rather the fact that Othello disrupts Iagos conception of himself and is a pawn whom he can manipulate for pleasure. His arrogance and entitlement are also classic symptoms of antisocial personality disorder, as is his superficial charm, which allows him to enlist the assistance of Roderigo in his plot to destroy Othello s marriage. Individuals with antisocial personality disorder are characterized by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, act 1 scene 1 depicts him and Roderigo discussing Othello s impending marriage. During this scene, Roderigo mentions that Iago hast had [his] purse/ As if the strings were thine (1.1.2 3). A common symptom of antisocial personality disorder is the inability to handle money responsibly, whether because of an unreliable source of income or reckless spending (Personality and Personality Disorders, 88). In either case, from the first scene of the play it is clear that he is leeching off of Roderigo for personal gain. His disorder appears to manifest itself differently depending on the person with whom he is interacting, as shown when he speaks to Emelia and his charming, relatively eloquent exterior melts away into an aggressive, rude figure. This behavioral pattern indicates that Iago is a fundamentally antisocial person, not reacting to a specific negative situation. Iago reveals a good deal about the inner workings of his mind when he states that But for [his] sport and profit. [He] hate[s] the Moor (1.3.386). He relates this to the alleged adultery between his wife and Othello, but when viewed through the lens of antisocial personality disorder, it becomes literally true. According to the DSM, such individuals are frequently motivated by pleasure seeking. The reasons which Iago gives for his hatred of Othello do not stand up to scrutiny when his hostile ...
