History Of The Nutmeg Trade
History of the Nutmeg Trade:
Nutmeg was traded as early as 200 BC, when the Romans would travel from Egypt across the Indian
Ocean, to trade goods with the natives of Banda in exchange for spices. Spice use declined around the
5th century with the fall of the Roman Empire, and was later reintroduced by the Arabs. (Conley, J.
2002.) In the 6th century the Arabs were the only traders of spice, and acted as middlemen for India,
Indonesia, Africa, and the Orient, supplying spices to Europe through Venice at high prices. ( )
Nutmeg was highly valued in medieval European cuisine as a flavoring, food preservative, and for
perceived medicinal properties. St Theodore the Studite was known for allowing his monks to sprinkle
nutmeg on their pease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the Portuguese remained participants in the Spice Trade, they had no actual footholds in the
Bandas after 1515 (Milton, 1999).
Dutch East Indies Company vs British East India Company: 17th Century
In the 17th Century the Netherlands took control of the Banda Islands, successfully gaining monopoly
of the spice trade. The Dutch were engaged in competition with the English and Portuguese for control
of the Spice Islands, and decided to forcefully establish their control through their Dutch East Indies
trading company. At this point the Portuguese presence was decreasing in the Bandas, and the British
and British East India trading company were the Dutch s primary competitors in the East Indies
(Milton, 1999).
While interactions between the Dutch and the Bandanese (peoples indigenous to the Banadas) were
initially mutually beneficial, they turned bloody over time.
Dutch traders offered unwanted manufactured goods that were not desirable to the Bandanese people,
(fabrics that were not climate suitable), and attempted to impose restrictions on trade between the
Bandanese and the British. The Dutch successfully persuade the leading Bandanese citizens to sign a
treaty known as the Eternal Compact treaty, granting the Dutch a monopoly on spice purchases. This
unfair trade agreement further soured relations between them. In 1609 the Bandenese ambushed and

Foreshadowing In The Black Cat
In The Black Cat , the use of foreshadowing serves to emphasize the theme that sinners will be
punished by justice. For example, when the narrator visits the ruins of his house, he sees on a wall the
figure of a gigantic cat [with] a rope about the animal s neck , foreshadowing how the narrator will be
put to death for murder. Moreover, he describes the form of white hair on his second cat s chest as the
representation [...] of the GALLOWS! ‒ oh, mournful and terrible engine of Horror and of Crime ‒ of
Agony and of Death! , further foreshadowing his execution. The fact that the motif of death by
hanging always comes back to the narrator and that the gallows represents to him an instrument of
Crime and Death implies that suppressing his inner

Life Of Charlemagne Analysis
Einhard (c. 770 840) was a renowned monk, scholar, and writer of Frankish descent. Although
regarded highly for many achievements, the most important contribution of his lifetime was the
uncharacteristically secular Life of Charlemagne, which has since become a topic of great discussion
and scrutiny. Many contemporary historians criticize Einhard s biography about the mighty Frankish
ruler on the basis that it seems to be biased towards painting a near perfect picture of Charlemagne s
reign as king and eventually emperor. There definitely seems to be a one sided view present, taking
into consideration some of the opening statements Einhard prefaces his biography with: Charles, that
most excellent and deservedly most famous king, and, Here ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although the biography was reminiscent of Suetonius s Lives of the Caesars, Einhard did develop a
unique literary style all his own, which would go on to inspire Bishop Asser s Life of Alfred the Great
and biographies of Louis the Pious. This technique provided a stark contrast to the hagiographic
writings characteristic of the time. Although Charlemagne was certainly represented as a pious
Christian man, Einhard didn t want this to comprise all of what made Charle s a great king. He wished
for his greatness to be represented as a more personal characteristic, instead of a Christian

Friedman Mackey And Mackers Case Study
1. Of the three views presented, Friedman, Mackey, and Rodgers, which one do you think is the most
compelling? Explain your answer.
Mackey has the best view of the responsibilities of business for not only their investors, but also the
customers and the community in which they work. Though one role of business is to increase profits
and maintain investors. Business has the ability to benefit the community in more than profits alone.
Mackey has a great perception and sees the value of looking out for the benefit of the customers and
how that can in turn have a positive correlation with profits. However, I do not believe Mackey s
motivation is based on profit growth. At the end of the day, Mackey wants to be a resource to both, the

The Corporation 20/20 principles hold large companies accountable to their actions and encourage
social responsibility. I particularly like the fifth principle which states, Corporations shall be governed
in a manner that is participatory, transparent and accountable. This minimizes untruthful actions and
corrupt business practices.
3. Do you believe that Doane is too skeptical about the ability of ethical consumers to drive change in
companies, or is she right that that is a myth? Explain your answer.
Education plays a huge role in driving change. Unfortunately, not every member of society is educated
on best practices surrounding social change. Many do not understand how their actions impact
sustainability and generations to follow. However, I do not believe that we should throw away all
attempts at a greener and more socially responsible perspective just because certain individuals do not
understand the power they have in their decisions. She is right that most people focus more on the
immediate gratification, such as price and taste, but this is not reason enough to give up on practices
that CSR companies believe

The Slaying Of Vali
The slaying of Vali cannot be justified, because Rama was not following his dharma. The way in
which Vali was killed was not a honorable way. Vali in his dying state asked Rama how could you ,
protector of all creatures, aim your shaft from your hiding place, like some mean hunter tracking a
wild beast, instead of facing me in a fight if you felt that I deserved that honor? (103). The honor that
Vali mentions is his intelligence and his ability to tell right from wrong and if Rama was to kill him he
should have come out to face him and killed him in an honorable light not in hiding. Rama was biased
and blinded by the thought of retrieving his wife. To redeem her and to wreak your vengeance on

History Of Geology Of Ethiopia
1.5 Review of Literatures
According to (EIGS, 2010); the geology of Ethiopia is characterized by different rock types ranging in
age from Precambrian to recent. These rocks are classified into three major geological formations:
Precambrian rocks, Paleozoic Mesozoic sedimentary rocks and Cenozoic volcanic rocks and
associated sediments. (Ebinger et al., 1993); Volcanic activity in the southern MER started earlier than
in the other MER sectors, since the oldest rocks were dated at about 45 Ma (Amaro Gamo basalts).
Such an initial, mainly basaltic activity ended around 30 Ma (Zanettin et al., 1978).
According to Levitte et al., 1974) and Zanettin et al., 1978), a second phase of mainly basaltic
volcanism started in the early Miocene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most important geologic units are outlined below from the oldest to the youngest. The lowermost
unit corresponds to the Tertiary basaltic sequences that cover large areas of Ethiopia and are
comprehensively known as Plateau Flood basalts or Trap Series. These basalts represent the first
volcanic activity related to the Tertiary rifting in Ethiopia, although this volcanic phase predates the
main rifting events (Abebe et al., 2005; Bonini et al., 2005).
According (Zanettin et al., 1978), the alkaline basaltic lava flows are about 30 36 Ma in age and crop
out at the northern termination of the Chencha escarpment to mildly in the Soddo Arba Minch areas.
Damot Volcano is a large and complex silicic volcanic center; which rises over 1000 m from the
surrounding rift escarpment, locally overlies the Nazret pyroclastic rocks. The trachytic lava flows
from Damota are of Late Pliocene age (~2.9 Ma [Woldegabriel et al., 1990]).
Hobitcha is Quaternary volcanic centers which is main sources of pyroclastic material to this ancestral
lacustrine system, together with basaltic flows evident as hyloclastite layers in some sections of this
unit (Chernet, 2011). The earliest phase of rhyolitic volcanism in the Quaternary was associated with
the Hobitcha rhyolitic center, a U shaped caldera with a diameter of ~10 km that exposes large
volumes of lava and pyroclastic products on its flanks and caldera rim.

Spinach Lab Report
To test the rate of photosynthesis in spinach leaves, we placed a spinach thylakoids mixed with
dichlorophenol indophenol (DPIP) in front of various lights treatments. In total, there were 5 cuvettes
which all received different lighting. One was a control which contained no thylakoids, another had no
light at all, the third cuvette was completely open to all possible light, the fourth was covered with a
green translucent paper, and the final cuvette was covered with a red translucent paper. In five minute
intervals, the transmittance was measured using a spectrophotometer which allowed the rate of
photosynthesis to be measured. Upon completion of this lab, the white light produced the highest rate
of transmittance shortly followed by the red light and then the green light. The thylakoids that

Things go better with Coke. Good til the last drop. It s the real thing. Always Coca Cola. Enjoy. Life

One of the company s most popular jingles was known as I want to buy the world a coke, produced in

Using A Stock Trading System Based On Prediction Models...
The dissertation project addresses the problem of trying to build a stock trading system based on
prediction models obtained with daily stock quotes data. We will apply different models to predict the
returns of IBM stocks at the New York Stock Exchange. These predictions will be used together with a
trading rule that will generate buy and sell signals. This chapter addresses several new data mining
issues: (1) how to use R to analyze data stored in a database; (2) how to handle prediction problems
where there is a time ordering among training cases (usually known as a time series); (3) and the
consequences of wanting to translate model predictions into actions.
3.1 Problem description and objectives
Stock market trading is an application domain with a big potential for data mining. In effect, the
existence of an enormous amount of historical data suggests that data mining can provide a
competitive advantage over human inspection of this data. On the other hand there are authors
claiming that the markets adapt so rapidly in terms of price adjustments that there is no space to obtain
profits in a consistent way. This is usually known as the efficient markets hypothesis. This theory has
been successively replaced by more relaxed versions that leave some space for trading opportunities.
The general goal of stock trading is to maintain a portfolio of stocks based on buy and sell orders. The
long term objective is to achieve as much profit as possible from these trading

Benefits Of Big Data Analytics On Business Performance
The benefits of big data analytics on business performance
Why Big Data Is a Big Deal . Big data is a logo used to describe a massive volume of both structured
(is information already managed by the organization in relational databases ) and unstructured data (is
information that is unorganized and does not fall into a pre determined model) that is so large it is
difficult to process using traditional database and software techniques. In most companies, the volume
of data is too big or it moves too fast or it exceeds current processing capacity. Despite these
problems, big data has the potential to help companies improve operations and make faster, more
intelligent decisions.
Moreover companies that implement Big data analytics application gain tangible benefits in their
finance department, sales department, and human resources department. Financial statements (i.e.
Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and income statement) are the summarized results of the company s
operations. To produce those statements, large volumes of structured and nanostructured data which
come from multiple heterogeneous sources must be swiftly linked, connected, and correlated.
However, those activities can t be done by using traditional databases. For that reason, the company
implemented an advanced technology called big data analytical tool (Business Object). For example,
Financial Statements must be displayed on the CEO dashboards instantly all the time. To be able to
achieve his requirement, Business

The Discovery Of The Deinonychus Dinosaur
Deinonychus were discovered during the time period of Early Cretaceous, which was between 110 to
115 million years ago. When deinonychus were discovered, paleontologists started to reconsider how
dinosaurs lived. Deinonychus name comes from terrible claw (prehistoric Beast of the Week, 2015).
This name was given because it was believed that deinonychus were active dinosaurs all year round
(Blagic 2016). The discovery of the deinonychus dinosaur was out of the ordinary. These features that
the deinonychus had was never seen before in any other type of dinosaur. This dinosaur was
intelligent, fast, had claws that could slash a prey bigger than itself, and the hands could grasp the prey
(Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History,
Barnum Brown first discovered Deinonychus between 1931 1932. He found the Deinonychus bones.
He collected their bones and body parts, like the hands and feet from Crow Indian Reservation. Soon
after when Brown died, John Ostrom took over and began the discovery again. He made his way to
Montana to rediscover Deinonychus in 1969. Ostrom found that deinonychus were much smaller than
its cousin Tyrannosaurus Rex. Deinonychus weighed around 50 100 kilos. (Lowell Dingus and
Timothy Rowe, New York, W. H. Freeman and Co., 1998). A lot of information was found about this
one particular dinosaur, which leads to many hypothesis and experiments. The discovery of the
features of a deinonychus dinosaur gives us insights to the feeding behavior it retains and how

Manhattan Project Gould Summary
Gould argues that most people are good and some are bad. I can t say that I agree with this. To me,
most people are over all bad and some are good. Because of events like the Manhattan Project, recent
political debate about building a wall, slavery and abolishment, I believe Gould is incorrect in his
claim that most people are good. Most people may try to do good but doing some good doesn t make
you good overall. The Manhattan Project was a project made up of the top scientist, split into two
teams. The project started in 1939 and ended in 1946. Scientists were gathered to construct the very
first atomic bomb. The scientists were not told why they were making what they were nor were they
told what they were making. The U.S. used it to bomb Japan, killing innocent people in order to end
the war. Later, Scientists who had worked on the project, like Albert Einstein, stated that if he had
known what they were using it for/what they were making, he never would have worked on it. The
U.S. tricked it s own people into creating a weapon that was created solely for killing thousands. This
evil injustice wasn t just harmful to those who were bombed, but to those who were instructed to
create the bomb, oblivious to what horrendous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Summary Of The Gangster We Are All Looking For
Many say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but Le Thi Diem Thuy can paint a picture in her
readers minds with less than twenty. She uses detailed imagery to construct a mosaic of five stories in
The Gangster We Are All Looking For, a novel inspired by her own immigration to America. She
takes on the role of a young girl who narrates the struggles she faces alongside her mother and father
(also known as Ma and Ba ) to adapt to their new environment and move on from past memories and
failures. Through the use of intense imagery and figurative language, Le evokes vivid images and
feelings in her readers to expose her characters dispositions, experiences, and emotions. Le uses
descriptive imagery of objects in order to show the internal nature of the characters. The narrator holds
a butterfly paperweight next to her ear and [hears] a soft rustling, like wings brushing against a
windowpane. The rustling was a whispered song. It was the butterfly s way of speaking, and [she]
thought [she] understood it (Le 25) Le captures the narrator s young, wild imagination by showing an
impossible interaction between the narrator and the butterfly paperweight. She evokes an image of
wings brushing against a windowpane to prompt readers to imagine the butterfly s swift fluttering in
the paperweight. She compares the paperweight to her Ba s heavy head pressed down on the pillow at
night, full of thoughts that dragged him into nightmares when all he wanted was a dream as sweet

Dulse Research Paper
Move over kale, there s a new superfood in town: bacon flavored seaweed! Scientists at Oregon State
University have developed a new food item that experts are already saying could be the most nutrient
packed food to date.
When Abalone Food Becomes Human Food
According to Chris Langdon, of Oregon State University s Hatfield Marine Science Center, the bacon
flavored seaweed was originally developed to be a superfood to feed abalone. The newly announced
superfood, known as dulse, had been growing in Oregon State University s laboratories for 15 years.
When researchers fed it to abalone, they found that the resulting growth rate of the abalone was much
higher than previously expected. Despite growing interest in developing the lab grown dulse for
human consumption, the researchers had only focused on using it to ... Show more content on

Dulse is a wild seaweed, also referred to as palmaria, which grows along the Pacific and Atlantic
coastlines. It is a lucrative ocean plant, as when it is dried out it is known to have gone for up to $90
per pound. The newly developed strain of dulse created by the scientists at Oregon State University
looks similar to red algae and is translucent. It is said to somewhat resemble translucent red lettuce
and is packed with 16 percent of protein and several antioxidants when it is dried out. This particular
strain apparently takes on a very strong bacon flavor when it is fried.
Bacon Flavored Seaweed Brings Dulse to America
According to Langdon, Europeans have been using dulse in powder or flake form and adding it to
their dishes when they cook, but there hasn t been much interest in the fresh version. Dulse has been a
popular food item in Europe for many years, but across the ocean in the United States, no one has
really heard of it. Now that there is a possibility of commercializing its production in American labs,
however, this bacon flavored seaweed might just grow in popularity and overtake kale as the most

Essay On Radiotherapy And Chemotherapy
Cancer can be defined as an uncontrollable division of cells in the body, and untreated cancer can lead
to serious illness, tumors and death. Cancer related to head and neck is the most difficult to treat
because it has a direct impact on the central nervous system. Radiotherapy is used to treat head and
neck cancer, and the treatment can be combined with chemotherapy. Radiotherapy or radiation therapy
uses radiation while chemotherapy is the treatment that uses chemical agents to destroy the cancer
cells. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy have been associated with effects like seizures, suppression of
cell growth and cognitive impairment (Dietrich et al., 2006). The brain scans of the patients after
receiving a few years of treatment show a decline in white matter in the brain. (Bharatha et al., 2012)

The underlying cause for the associated effects has been poorly understood. Patients must know about
the affects of radiation therapy and chemotherapy on the central nervous system before undergoing the

chemotherapeutic agents used in chemotherapy will also be discussed. The purpose of the research is
to examine whether radiotherapy and chemotherapy actually lead to its associated effects.
Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are two major procedures used to treat cancer, but the success rates
are as low as 2.1% (Siegel et al., 2015). The low success rate and high potential risk of cancer

according to the article in USA today, it states that illegal immigrants are having babies as a way to
obtain citizenship, which too many Americans cheapens the whole idea of being American . The last
group is the other the ones whom are completely neutral or believe in the beliefs of the first or second
group but not down to the word. Possible if they believe the child should get birthrights but not the
parents, only the child and mother should get them, or if they believe that they should get them but
still have to work through the proper process to receive them to their full extent. The great majority of
people live in cities. This is no chance occurrence. Even long before our present age of giant cities,
even before ancient Rome, people tended to live in concentration, in whatever size of community their
environment allowed. Probably the human desire to live in close company is instinctive. We look upon
hermits as unfortunate; we readily agree that friendship doubles joy and divides grief. The issue, then,
is what is the best we can do together? For example, whether we are ideally clustered in small cities,
or in fewer very large ones. And does our density affect not only resource consumption, but our

The Development of the Big Bang Theory
Abstract
The big bang theory is the result of work by Albert Einstein and Edwin Hubble. Arno Penzias and
Reno Wilson stumbled upon background noise emanating from space. Collaboration with Robert
Dicke resulted in a paper providing evidence for the big bang. Science research relies on cooperation
and serendipity.

September 1, 2014 A popular television show called The Big Bang Theory airs every Thursday night
on the CBS television network and is also in syndication. The show s introduction compresses the
history of the world and scientific advances into a nineteen second video. Listen closely to the
beginning and hear according to Robertson (2007), the whole universe was in a hot dense state and 14
billion years ago the expansion started. The song and images seem to flash at light speed. One of my
sons asked, What did the TV show mean by the big bang theory? This one television show, while not
explaining the theory, launched the phrase, big bang theory into our generation s collective conscious.
In simple terms, the big bang theory is a scientific attempt to explain a question mankind asked from
the beginning of time: Why are we here and where did we come from?

fabrics such as sheer silk or chiffon.
Omit the long train because it annoyingly collects sand with every step you take. Also ditch the satin
shoes and go barefoot or if the sand is too hot, think strappy sandals.
Encourage your guests to be casual too. Flip flops or bare feet permitted.
A Note about Décor
Since natural décor is free, consider adding a focal point such as a pagoda or arch.

A Summary On Parkinson s Disease
Introduction
In 1817, James Parkinson first described a disease, later to be known as Parkinson s Disease (PD) as a;
neurodegenerative disorder affecting the physical, psychological, social, and functional status of
individuals (Parkinson Society Canada Staff, 1965). In the time since the disease was first described,
the frequency of individuals affected with the disease has increased, with no single cause yet to be
identified as the culprit for the onset of the disease. According to the Parkinson s society Society of
Canada, approximately one hundred thousand Canadians live with this debilitating disease (Parkinson
Society Canada Staff, 1965). Not only has no successful cure for Parkinson s been developed, there
has yet to be any diagnostic tools developed that prove any suredefinite diagnosis (Parkinson Society
Canada Staff, 1965). To this point, Parkinson s is a disease that continues to impact a higher
percentage of the population each year, with no true hope being given to those that struggle with the
impairment. The purpose of this paper is to provide a summary of our knowledge on PD to date,
describing the physiology behind the deficits that PD is responsible for, the known causes and risk
factors, the signs and symptoms, and finally any known treatments that help to reduce the impairments
of PD.
Physiology
The origin of the impairments of PD disease start in the basal ganglia, the basal ganglia in laymen
terms would be defined as the basic cluster of nuclei, located

Iago Personality In Othello
Description
Iago is a twenty eight year old man, who is the ensign of the Othello, the play s protagonist. He is very
selfish, hence he manipulates Othello, Roderigo, and Cassio. Throughout the play, characters have
described Iago as an honest and trustworthy man, while not knowing the real him.
Personality Traits
Iago is jealous, dishonest, duplicitous, manipulative, and evil. His jealousy is shown when he is
furious of Cassio becoming the military lieutenant, instead of him. His dishonesty can be seen when
Iago continuously lies to Othello about his wife cheating on him. His duplicity is revealed when Iago
praises Othello in front of him, but badmouths him when around other characters. He is manipulative,
as he uses Roderigo s thirst for Desdemona to do his dirty work: fighting Cassio. His evil nature is
portrayed when he ruins the life of Othello, through convincing him to kill his wife, Desdemona.
Quotes Iago s essence is his deceptiveness. This is shown when Iago reveals his personal qualities,
and through the death of Roderigo. Firstly, when Roderigo questions Iago about why he is loyal to
Othello, Iago reveals his true self. Iago states, In following him [Othello], I follow but myself. [...] But
I will wear my heart upon my sleeve [f]or daws to peck at. I am not what I am (I.i.60 67). Iago reveals
that it may seem as if he is following Othello, but he really is doing it for himself, not for his devotion
towards Othello. By saying I am not what I am , he shows

John F Kennedy Inaugural Address Summary
John F. Kennedy s Inaugural address
John F. Kennedy s Inaugural address. January 20, 1961. This document was written and presented
during a time that East and West Berlin became East and West Berlin separated by the Berlin wall,a
time when Freedom writers challenged segregation, and when the Soviets had their first man to fly in
space. John F. Kennedy was just to be inagurated as the 35th president of the United States of
America.
This document clearly states of all Kennedy desired to achieve for the United States. He makes the
citizens trust him by making them recognize that they must come together in order to achieve great
things. He believes that united there is little we cannot do because divided there is little we can do.
Explaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They could ve chosen him for great looks, or what not but for sure he had good ideas and good
proposals that offered America a peaceful presidency to come. He made us reflect that if he could be
humble enough to help one another that we can later on be humble enough to extend the hand to those
other countries who need it as well. His idea of ending communism and democracy was brilliant as in
the view of needing to come together as one and working always as one not as America separate.
Learn to never expect something in return that only God can judge our good work. Let this teach us to
not be greedy of what we may already hold that what we have is enough. This was the start of a new
America for some citizens that had seen the worst of it all around the globe. But surely gave a good
America vision to those that were just visualizing a good life ahead.
John F. Kennedy s inaugural address was a good document to reflect on for peace and kindness. This
speech was a good example of a good presidency to take upon a new beginning. This was just an eye
opener to society, what we needed, what we wanted .. words of great comfort is all he gave us and
actions of good heart is what he gave us after. His views in this speech on a better society made him
into what I consider him one of the best presidents of the United States of

Effects Of Race Riots On Urban African Americans
Urban Blacks were also encounter with extreme racial violence in neighborhoods and at work.
Different ethnic groups of new immigrants obtained power and used conflict as a strategy of
diminishing urban Blacks power level. They began blocking Urban Black workers going to work
throughout new immigrant s neighborhoods. Race riots have played a crucial role in the social
establishment of race, prejudice, and discrimination across the United States. Race riots uncovered
fundamental tensions in societies experiencing swift technological and economic changes. In 1920,
there were many race riots and other violence in many places, such as Red Summer Race Riots of
1919 and the St. Louis Riot of 1917 that took place during the segregation in the South and the Black
urban migration to the North. These race riots were response to the reality that Urban Blacks were
carrying on a powerful struggle against White supremacy. During race riots, Urban Blacks lived
through a renewed flow of riots, massacres, and racial terrorism.
Before the race riots broke out in Chicago, tension between two communities were high and resulted
1919 Chicago Race Riot, which Black teenager called Eugene Williams swimming in Lake Michigan
was stoned to death by White bystanders. His death caused one of the worst riots in American history
because 37 people died, 500 injured and thousands left homeless. When the local police were called to
the William s death, they refused to arrest the man who initiated the

Analysis Of Marie De FranceBy Marie De France
Marie de France begins her story by describing Bisclavret, her main character, as well as defining
what a werewolf is: a ferocious beast which, when possessed by this madness, devours men, causes
great damage and dwells in vast forests (de France, 68). She wants to relate the two by allowing the
reader to decide what she means by the descriptions and why she would correlate them. De France
does a little play and twists the monsters throughout her story. Being a werewolf, Bisclavret may start
out as a monster without; and, at first, his wife seems to be so beautiful and innocent, but there lied a
monster within her. Later in the story, Bisclavret is no more than a human being, and his wife s
monstrousness shows from within and she transforms into a monster without. The themes gathered
from this story are the relationship between love and suffering, justice, and the wife who may be at
first likable, but then changes the way that monsters are viewed. In order to modify the stereotypes of
what a monster is, de France made Bisclavret, a werewolf, the good guy, and his beautiful wife, an
unforeseen bad guy. The wife in the story Bisclavret portrays a trustworthy, loving wife, until she
reacts quite differently to him being honest with whom he really is. Her character is the very thing,
which makes the reader reconsider the definition of a monster and the truth about monsters within.
The relationship between Bisclavret and his wife seems to be a very good and healthy bond

The Album Dark Side Of The Moon By Pink Floyd
The album Dark Side of the moon by Pink Floyd is the most sold progressive rock album of all time,
having sold over 40 million copies to date. With this album it helped launch Pink Floyd into stardom.
The album talks about the many trials and stresses one deals with in a modern life. The major theme
of the album is the unavoidable pressures in life we all must face even at a young age and how these
pressures affect us.
The Album begins with the song Speak to Me . The song Speak to Me starts with a heartbeat, which
resents a baby in the womb and as the baby gets closer to birth the heart beats faster. The song ends
with a woman screaming (Clare Torry) which is the birth of the baby, it also noted that other parts of
the album are heard along with lines about insanity. The band was trying to convey that even before
birth the pressures of life can t be avoided and as the mother is going through so we will we. This song
along with Breath help setup the theme of the album.
The song Breathe talks about the different stages of life we go through as we age, and most people s
change of view point as they age. The song lyrics start with Breathe, breathe in the air.
Don t be afraid to care. Leave but don t leave me. Look around and choose your own ground. this

Mud River Stone Analysis
There have been many plays I ve had the pleasure of being a part of, but I can honestly say Mud,
River, Stone by Lynn Nottage has had the greatest impact on my life, this play allowed me to delve
not lonely deeper into the understanding of my self, but even being able to relate it to the
insurmountable social injustice we see that is taking place in today s society; you know it s said
theater has a way of relating to history and even current events this play showed me just how true that
statement is. Well, actually let s go back a bit and really break this down for a second. When Stephen
Davis told me that this particular play was going to be my thesis and that David Bradley was the role I
was going to play I truly didn t know how to feel, okay that s a lie I was happy, excited and then
nervous as I thought about all that would encompass; the process of putting on a full show as a thesis;
now I ve watched and saw many friends over the years produce their thesis and even ... Show more

quickly as I could, but I also found myself at a major standstill, normally in regards to memorizing a
script I found that I try to memorize the smaller chucks first then memorize the longer sections, I
thought this tactic would work best for this script; I quickly discovered that for myself that the
opposite would be the crowning victor in this battle. It was easier for me to memorize the beginning
moment of text upon text between Sarah and David. My struggle truly came with trying to keep up
with the text not only between Sarah and David, but also between David and Joaquim, as well as

  • 2. History Of The Nutmeg Trade History of the Nutmeg Trade: Nutmeg was traded as early as 200 BC, when the Romans would travel from Egypt across the Indian Ocean, to trade goods with the natives of Banda in exchange for spices. Spice use declined around the 5th century with the fall of the Roman Empire, and was later reintroduced by the Arabs. (Conley, J. 2002.) In the 6th century the Arabs were the only traders of spice, and acted as middlemen for India, Indonesia, Africa, and the Orient, supplying spices to Europe through Venice at high prices. ( ) Nutmeg was highly valued in medieval European cuisine as a flavoring, food preservative, and for perceived medicinal properties. St Theodore the Studite was known for allowing his monks to sprinkle nutmeg on their pease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the Portuguese remained participants in the Spice Trade, they had no actual footholds in the Bandas after 1515 (Milton, 1999). Dutch East Indies Company vs British East India Company: 17th Century In the 17th Century the Netherlands took control of the Banda Islands, successfully gaining monopoly of the spice trade. The Dutch were engaged in competition with the English and Portuguese for control of the Spice Islands, and decided to forcefully establish their control through their Dutch East Indies trading company. At this point the Portuguese presence was decreasing in the Bandas, and the British and British East India trading company were the Dutch s primary competitors in the East Indies (Milton, 1999). While interactions between the Dutch and the Bandanese (peoples indigenous to the Banadas) were initially mutually beneficial, they turned bloody over time. Dutch traders offered unwanted manufactured goods that were not desirable to the Bandanese people, (fabrics that were not climate suitable), and attempted to impose restrictions on trade between the Bandanese and the British. The Dutch successfully persuade the leading Bandanese citizens to sign a treaty known as the Eternal Compact treaty, granting the Dutch a monopoly on spice purchases. This unfair trade agreement further soured relations between them. In 1609 the Bandenese ambushed and killed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Foreshadowing In The Black Cat In The Black Cat , the use of foreshadowing serves to emphasize the theme that sinners will be punished by justice. For example, when the narrator visits the ruins of his house, he sees on a wall the figure of a gigantic cat [with] a rope about the animal s neck , foreshadowing how the narrator will be put to death for murder. Moreover, he describes the form of white hair on his second cat s chest as the representation [...] of the GALLOWS! ‒ oh, mournful and terrible engine of Horror and of Crime ‒ of Agony and of Death! , further foreshadowing his execution. The fact that the motif of death by hanging always comes back to the narrator and that the gallows represents to him an instrument of Crime and Death implies that suppressing his inner ... • 4. Life Of Charlemagne Analysis Einhard (c. 770 840) was a renowned monk, scholar, and writer of Frankish descent. Although regarded highly for many achievements, the most important contribution of his lifetime was the uncharacteristically secular Life of Charlemagne, which has since become a topic of great discussion and scrutiny. Many contemporary historians criticize Einhard s biography about the mighty Frankish ruler on the basis that it seems to be biased towards painting a near perfect picture of Charlemagne s reign as king and eventually emperor. There definitely seems to be a one sided view present, taking into consideration some of the opening statements Einhard prefaces his biography with: Charles, that most excellent and deservedly most famous king, and, Here ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the biography was reminiscent of Suetonius s Lives of the Caesars, Einhard did develop a unique literary style all his own, which would go on to inspire Bishop Asser s Life of Alfred the Great and biographies of Louis the Pious. This technique provided a stark contrast to the hagiographic writings characteristic of the time. Although Charlemagne was certainly represented as a pious Christian man, Einhard didn t want this to comprise all of what made Charle s a great king. He wished for his greatness to be represented as a more personal characteristic, instead of a Christian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Friedman Mackey And Mackers Case Study 1. Of the three views presented, Friedman, Mackey, and Rodgers, which one do you think is the most compelling? Explain your answer. Mackey has the best view of the responsibilities of business for not only their investors, but also the customers and the community in which they work. Though one role of business is to increase profits and maintain investors. Business has the ability to benefit the community in more than profits alone. Mackey has a great perception and sees the value of looking out for the benefit of the customers and how that can in turn have a positive correlation with profits. However, I do not believe Mackey s motivation is based on profit growth. At the end of the day, Mackey wants to be a resource to both, the community, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Corporation 20/20 principles hold large companies accountable to their actions and encourage social responsibility. Do you believe that Doane is too skeptical about the ability of ethical consumers to drive change in companies, or is she right that that is a myth? Explain your answer. Education plays a huge role in driving change. Unfortunately, not every member of society is educated on best practices surrounding social change. Many do not understand how their actions impact sustainability and generations to follow. However, I do not believe that we should throw away all attempts at a greener and more socially responsible perspective just because certain individuals do not understand the power they have in their decisions. • 6. The Slaying Of Vali The slaying of Vali cannot be justified, because Rama was not following his dharma. The way in which Vali was killed was not a honorable way. Vali in his dying state asked Rama how could you , protector of all creatures, aim your shaft from your hiding place, like some mean hunter tracking a wild beast, instead of facing me in a fight if you felt that I deserved that honor? (103). The honor that Vali mentions is his intelligence and his ability to tell right from wrong and if Rama was to kill him he should have come out to face him and killed him in an honorable light not in hiding. • 7. History Of Geology Of Ethiopia 1.5 Review of Literatures According to (EIGS, 2010); the geology of Ethiopia is characterized by different rock types ranging in age from Precambrian to recent. These rocks are classified into three major geological formations: Precambrian rocks, Paleozoic Mesozoic sedimentary rocks and Cenozoic volcanic rocks and associated sediments. (Ebinger et al., 1993); Volcanic activity in the southern MER started earlier than in the other MER sectors, since the oldest rocks were dated at about 45 Ma (Amaro Gamo basalts). Such an initial, mainly basaltic activity ended around 30 Ma (Zanettin et al., 1978). According to Levitte et al., 1974) and Zanettin et al., 1978), a second phase of mainly basaltic volcanism started in the early Miocene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most important geologic units are outlined below from the oldest to the youngest. The lowermost unit corresponds to the Tertiary basaltic sequences that cover large areas of Ethiopia and are comprehensively known as Plateau Flood basalts or Trap Series. These basalts represent the first volcanic activity related to the Tertiary rifting in Ethiopia, although this volcanic phase predates the main rifting events (Abebe et al., 2005; Bonini et al., 2005). According (Zanettin et al., 1978), the alkaline basaltic lava flows are about 30 36 Ma in age and crop out at the northern termination of the Chencha escarpment to mildly in the Soddo Arba Minch areas. Damot Volcano is a large and complex silicic volcanic center; which rises over 1000 m from the surrounding rift escarpment, locally overlies the Nazret pyroclastic rocks. The trachytic lava flows from Damota are of Late Pliocene age (~2.9 Ma [Woldegabriel et al., 1990]). Hobitcha is Quaternary volcanic centers which is main sources of pyroclastic material to this ancestral lacustrine system, together with basaltic flows evident as hyloclastite layers in some sections of this unit (Chernet, 2011). In five minute intervals, the transmittance was measured using a spectrophotometer which allowed the rate of photosynthesis to be measured. One of the company s most popular jingles was known as I want to buy the world a coke, produced in 1971 by Billy Davis. The commercial featuring this song portrayed a world of hope and love produced by a group of multicultural teenagers on top of a hill. • 13. Using A Stock Trading System Based On Prediction Models... The dissertation project addresses the problem of trying to build a stock trading system based on prediction models obtained with daily stock quotes data. We will apply different models to predict the returns of IBM stocks at the New York Stock Exchange. These predictions will be used together with a trading rule that will generate buy and sell signals. This chapter addresses several new data mining issues: (1) how to use R to analyze data stored in a database; (2) how to handle prediction problems where there is a time ordering among training cases (usually known as a time series); (3) and the consequences of wanting to translate model predictions into actions. 3.1 Problem description and objectives Stock market trading is an application domain with a big potential for data mining. In effect, the existence of an enormous amount of historical data suggests that data mining can provide a competitive advantage over human inspection of this data. On the other hand there are authors claiming that the markets adapt so rapidly in terms of price adjustments that there is no space to obtain profits in a consistent way. This is usually known as the efficient markets hypothesis. This theory has been successively replaced by more relaxed versions that leave some space for trading opportunities. The general goal of stock trading is to maintain a portfolio of stocks based on buy and sell orders. The long term objective is to achieve as much profit as possible from these trading ... • 15. Benefits Of Big Data Analytics On Business Performance The benefits of big data analytics on business performance Why Big Data Is a Big Deal . Big data is a logo used to describe a massive volume of both structured (is information already managed by the organization in relational databases ) and unstructured data (is information that is unorganized and does not fall into a pre determined model) that is so large it is difficult to process using traditional database and software techniques. In most companies, the volume of data is too big or it moves too fast or it exceeds current processing capacity. Despite these problems, big data has the potential to help companies improve operations and make faster, more intelligent decisions. Moreover companies that implement Big data analytics application gain tangible benefits in their finance department, sales department, and human resources department. Financial statements (i.e. Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and income statement) are the summarized results of the company s operations. To produce those statements, large volumes of structured and nanostructured data which come from multiple heterogeneous sources must be swiftly linked, connected, and correlated. However, those activities can t be done by using traditional databases. For that reason, the company implemented an advanced technology called big data analytical tool (Business Object). When deinonychus were discovered, paleontologists started to reconsider how dinosaurs lived. Deinonychus name comes from terrible claw (prehistoric Beast of the Week, 2015). This name was given because it was believed that deinonychus were active dinosaurs all year round (Blagic 2016). The discovery of the deinonychus dinosaur was out of the ordinary. These features that the deinonychus had was never seen before in any other type of dinosaur. This dinosaur was intelligent, fast, had claws that could slash a prey bigger than itself, and the hands could grasp the prey (Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History, Barnum Brown first discovered Deinonychus between 1931 1932. He found the Deinonychus bones. He collected their bones and body parts, like the hands and feet from Crow Indian Reservation. Soon after when Brown died, John Ostrom took over and began the discovery again. He made his way to Montana to rediscover Deinonychus in 1969. Ostrom found that deinonychus were much smaller than its cousin Tyrannosaurus Rex. Deinonychus weighed around 50 100 kilos. (Lowell Dingus and Timothy Rowe, New York, W. H. Freeman and Co., 1998). Because of events like the Manhattan Project, recent political debate about building a wall, slavery and abolishment, I believe Gould is incorrect in his claim that most people are good. Most people may try to do good but doing some good doesn t make you good overall. The Manhattan Project was a project made up of the top scientist, split into two teams. The project started in 1939 and ended in 1946. Scientists were gathered to construct the very first atomic bomb. The scientists were not told why they were making what they were nor were they told what they were making. The U.S. used it to bomb Japan, killing innocent people in order to end the war. Later, Scientists who had worked on the project, like Albert Einstein, stated that if he had known what they were using it for/what they were making, he never would have worked on it. She uses detailed imagery to construct a mosaic of five stories in The Gangster We Are All Looking For, a novel inspired by her own immigration to America. She takes on the role of a young girl who narrates the struggles she faces alongside her mother and father (also known as Ma and Ba ) to adapt to their new environment and move on from past memories and failures. Through the use of intense imagery and figurative language, Le evokes vivid images and feelings in her readers to expose her characters dispositions, experiences, and emotions. Le uses descriptive imagery of objects in order to show the internal nature of the characters. The narrator holds a butterfly paperweight next to her ear and [hears] a soft rustling, like wings brushing against a windowpane. The rustling was a whispered song. It was the butterfly s way of speaking, and [she] thought [she] understood it (Le 25) Le captures the narrator s young, wild imagination by showing an impossible interaction between the narrator and the butterfly paperweight. She evokes an image of wings brushing against a windowpane to prompt readers to imagine the butterfly s swift fluttering in the paperweight. • 33. Analysis Of Marie De FranceBy Marie De France Marie de France begins her story by describing Bisclavret, her main character, as well as defining what a werewolf is: a ferocious beast which, when possessed by this madness, devours men, causes great damage and dwells in vast forests (de France, 68). She wants to relate the two by allowing the reader to decide what she means by the descriptions and why she would correlate them. De France does a little play and twists the monsters throughout her story. Being a werewolf, Bisclavret may start out as a monster without; and, at first, his wife seems to be so beautiful and innocent, but there lied a monster within her. Later in the story, Bisclavret is no more than a human being, and his wife s monstrousness shows from within and she transforms into a monster without. The themes gathered from this story are the relationship between love and suffering, justice, and the wife who may be at first likable, but then changes the way that monsters are viewed. In order to modify the stereotypes of what a monster is, de France made Bisclavret, a werewolf, the good guy, and his beautiful wife, an unforeseen bad guy. The wife in the story Bisclavret portrays a trustworthy, loving wife, until she reacts quite differently to him being honest with whom he really is. Her character is the very thing, which makes the reader reconsider the definition of a monster and the truth about monsters within. The relationship between Bisclavret and his wife seems to be a very good and healthy bond ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
